Halifax Slasher Research Paper
There are many things that people fear some being for good reasons other not so much.
Occasionally the thing that is being feared is caused by different events that have happened or
happening at that time. These fears can influence people s actions and behaviors in negative and
/or positive way. The Halifax Slasher fear is an example of a of people fearing something
because of events that had happened and is affecting their actions behaviors. The Halifax Slasher
attacks led to the people in Halifax to fear being attacked at night, which resulted in people
patrolling the streets at night and women to do what they can to protect theirself. This fear was not
justified and the overall effect of this fear was negative. In 1938 the town of Halifax

Differences Between Love Canal And Chernobyl
Love Canal and Chernobyl are two different environmental disasters that share many similarities,
yet have their differences too. Love canal is located in Niagara Falls, New York and is the site of a
seventy acre landfill. This landfill caused a major environmental pollution disaster that affected
hundreds of people. Toxic waste began to invade homes, backyards, and playgrounds. Two hundred
and forty eight different chemicals were found buried beneath this community. Eight hundred
families had to relocate. (Softschools.com). Chernobyl is located in Ukraine, this natural disaster
was the explosion of reactor number four, and occurred while under maintenance check. This
explosion let out two hundred times the amount of radiation than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Seven
Million people were affected, and three hundred and fifty thousand people were forced out of their
homes and relocated. This explosion damaged sixty three thousand square miles of land
(friendsofchernobyl.org). It is important to realize although differences are present, both LoveCanal
and Chernobyl had similar effects on humans and the land. Many people suffered from these
disasters, and had to change their lifestyles because of the effects done to the land.
Chernobyl and Love Canal both had many negative effects on humans and the land near these
places. The land in both events was impacted drastically. Neither places could grow food that could
be consumed anymore. In Chernobyl people who harvested food were

Dentist Goals
Albert Einstein, a highly intelligent physicist once said if you want to live a happy life, tie it to
a goal. Not things. I believe people should set goals in life because it lets you create the steps to
fulfill your goal. I am Zack Leffue and I am in the eighth grade and have set many goals that I
created for my life including becoming a dentist. Though I will go through the most extreme efforts
to complete my goals there are still obstacles that will stand in my way. Education is an important
factor to succeed at my goalof becoming a dentist. The goal of going to dental school along with
four years of undergraduate school at Northern Arizona University is a very ambitious goal. The
reason why I have set such a drastic goal of becoming

These issues started out as minor issues, but due to the lack of attention they received, they have
since grown into major ones. My recent research is important due to the fact that these issues can
no longer be ignored. If they are not resolved immediately, our correctional system will begin to
spiral out of control, which could then result in a negative name being given to the system. Also,
not only will the system continue to suffer, but society as a whole. Resolving these issues will not
only benefit the former, current and future offenders, but all the employees of the criminal justice
system as well.
Overall, I hope you all understand my stance when it comes to taking action to resolve the issues
the criminal justice system is currently facing. I feel together we can accomplish this major task.
Thank you for your time.

Review Of Sire s Arguments For Other Worldviews
Sire provides a concise introduction for anyone who either misunderstands, or has no concept of
a worldview; but some may disagree on what he may have added or left out. If an atheist were to
pick up this book, he or she may feel as though Sire spent more time on the Christian worldview
than giving legitimate arguments for other worldviews. Is there a way to read Sire s book, as a
non Christian, and agree with his statements, or is this book only for Christian students (who will
mostly agree since they already hold his presuppositions)? The Christian may be satisfied with his
answers, but if his goal is to educate on other worldviews; this book may get dismissed as uneven
when presenting arguments for different worldviews. Another issue

The Phychosocial Theory Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development
Self Analysis
Every person is a unique individual. Each of us possesses characteristics and traits that may be
influenced either by genetic, environmental factors or both. These two factors are constantly
argued in the field of psychology. In my opinion as counselor, both perspectives have its respective
strengths and weaknesses. It is important to a counselor like me, to have deeper knowledge about
the different personality theories because it allows me to know myself more and understand the
people around me especially the counselees who trust my ability.
The Psychosocial Development Theory of Erik Erikson identifies eight stages that individual has
to pass through from infancy to late adulthood stages. I remember when my sister asked me to
look after my nephew who was at 5 months old. I was afraid to carry him the moment he cried
because he looked so fragile. However, I remember what Erikson said about this stage that it is
important to establish trust to the caregiver and provide the basic needs of the infant otherwise, the
mistrust will be developed. The moment I carried my nephew and hand him a toy, he stopped
crying and started to suck the toy. From the perspective of Jean Piaget, infants have neonatal
schemas or innate ability even before they have more experience about the world. From there I
understand clearly that babies have incredible reflexes which are untold to them and that make
them wonderful. As I continually observe my nephew who appears to

Employment Decision Of Will Roberts
Employment Decision of Will Roberts When a person is in the military, they have to make some
very important decisions as they rise in the ranks. Often it is hard to get management to agree with
you, due to the fact that some managers want all the glory. Through an open door policy program,
bargaining, and negotiations a mission can be accomplished more successfully.
Employment Decision Choice Fort Sill, Oklahoma sends out around 2,000 basic training Soldiers
on a two week vacation during the Christmas and New Year s Holiday. It is the job of the Fort
Sill Emergency Operations Center to assist in the logistics and tracking of all these Soldiers from
the base to the bus station or airport. Every two hours after this mission begins, it is a requirement
to send out a PowerPoint presentation on the location numbers of each Soldier.
This is difficult if you do not know exactly what the Colonel wants to send to the Commanding
General of the base. The Colonel had an open door policy, but as a courtesy a person needs to talk
to his direct supervisor first. We changed the slides so often during the departure of the Soldiers
that my fellow coworkers got frustrated. One of the main reasons because lack of information and
correct communication information between us, the Colonel, and the organizational representatives
(both at the base, on the buses, and at the airport). These representatives were supposed to call us
after a bus left the base, arrived at the bus station or airport,

The Criminological Theory For Mike Tyson
The criminological theory for Mike Tyson is a classical theory. The criminological theory classical
is Crime occurs when the benefits outweigh the costs when people pursue self interest in the
absence of effective punishments. Crime is a free willed choice. See also deterrence, rational
choice. Mike Tysonallegedly raped her on July 19 in his hotel room. Mike Tyson was convicted
with rapeon March 26, 1992. That put a pause in the famous Mike Tyson boxing career for a while.
Rape is a despicable crimethat some can t be forgiven or forgotten. Rape is an act of sexual
violence towards another human being without their consents. It s not only if you have their
consent, they also have to be old enough. Rape will give you the consequences of going to jail.
Doing so will affect the person that has committed it and the person that has been violated.
Classical Theory applies to Mike Tyson in much different type of components. Mike Tyson
wanted sex with a young female and he received it. That falls under the category of when you
pursue self interest. In many or almost all cases of rape it seems like it is self interest. Once you
commit rape you should know that there will be consequences if you are caught. But, in Mike
Tyson case he claims that she gave him consent to have sex with the young female. So that
believed Mike Tyson to not suffer any consequence because she gave him permission. The
classical theory also applies to Mike Tyson because it also means that crime is a

The narrative titled, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson,
written by Mary Rowlandson is closely related to the narrative titled, The interesting Narrative of
the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavvas Vassa , written by Olaudah Equaiano. Both narratives
talk about captivity, the struggles of being held a prisoner, and the everyday emotions that each
character goes through. Each of the narratives dives into the theme of Self vs. Other; however,
each one takes a different look or view between racial and cultural difference. Each other also
focuses on different aspects of faith and the impact that it has on the characters captivity

The themes between the two narratives gives a guide to the reader on the focus for the author,
which enables the reader to learn different views and have different emotions while reading the
narratives. The racial differences make an impact on the narratives due to the point of views that
are expressed. Mary Rowlandson is a white American that is being held captive by Native
Americans; however, Olaudah Equiano is a Nigerian that is taken as a slave by Americans. Mary
Rowlandson often calls her captors, ...barbarous creatures... while Olaudah Equiano often calls his
captors, ...assailant, or kidnapper... . Each character has a fear of their captors and have been
taught to fear them from a very young age and as well as a strong dislike for their captors. Both
Rowlandson and Equiano are deeply rooted in their cultural faiths and believe that vanity is shown
throughout their narratives. Rowlandson states, I have seen the extreme vanity of this world...
while Equiano states, I believe it is difficult for those who publish their own memoirs to escape the
imputation of vanity... . (Rowlandson, 288)(Equiano, 688) Vanity, by both characters, is considered
a harmful characteristic to be displayed; however, both narratives explain the impact that the vanity

The Challenger Disaster
The Challenger disaster was not only a disaster in terms of the destruction of the spacecraft and the
death of its crew but also in terms of the decision making process that led to the launch and in terms
of the subsequent investigation into the quot;causes quot; of the disaster. The decision to
recommend for launch was made by lower level management officials over the objections of
technical experts who opposed the launch under the environmental conditions that existed on the
launch pad at the time. Furthermore, the lower level managers who made this decision both NASA
and contractor personnel chose not to report the objections of the technical experts in their
recommendations to higher levels in the management chain of command to... Show more content on

A more appropriate ethical analysis would seek to understand the ways in which the decision
making process itself fostered or hindered responsibility among individuals within the organization
and of the organization itself. In this respect, when viewed as a problem of responsibility, the
Challenger disaster presents a much more insightful lesson on the nature of decision making in a
large organization such as NASA. While it seems clear that the decision that led to the explosion of
the Challenger was made by those lower level managers who chose to ignore the objections of
technical experts who opposed the launch, the subsequent investigation revealed how the decision
making processes within NASA (and it contractors) worked to limit the agency of decision makers
and to obscure accountability for their decision making. The problem of responsibility in the
decision making process focuses upon three issues: the availability of information, the role of
technical specifications and formal regulations, and the management chain of command. Each of
these factors contributed to the exercise of poor judgment and to the obscuring of accountability in
the decision making process. The availability of information more precisely the lack of information
had an impact upon the decision making process in three different ways. The technical experts who
recommended against launching were not aware of the nature of the

The Cold War And Its Impact Of The Second World War
The Treaty establishing the European Economic Community is an important historical document
in Europe as it signifies the coming together of countries after WWII to create peace. The
catastrophic effect of WWII led for the necessity of a new European integration. Europeans
wanted to end the bloodshed and tragedies of the Second World War to prevent enormous
destruction on that scale from happening again. Millions of lives had been lost and the impact
was devastating. Cities and towns were wiped out with bombings and the loss of homes created
thousands of refugees which resulted in the desire for a new Europe. Soon after the war, Europe
was divided into the East and West and the Cold War began, which lasted forty years. The Cold War

Wife Role In Japanese Family
The wife role is centered more around the children and the household. That she is the most
informed about what is best for her children and will explore all options for them. They do not
usually let their children go to a babysitter or daycare because they feel that they can nurture
their children best. Also, the mothers consider motherhood to be highly valued and is
considered the most important thing. The mother knows all that is going on with their child
and has the ultimate authority in their education and attends to all their academic needs.
(Japanese Family) Japan has many traditions that are deep rooted in their religions such as,
Japanese Tea Ceremony, Noh drama, Kabuki Drama, as well as holidays like Japanese New
Year celebration, Coming of Age Day, Shunbun no hi/Higan no Chu Nichi as well as Christmas.
Japanese Tea Ceremony where they bring tranquility to the people involved in it. Noh drama
and Kabuki dramas are dramas combing music, dance and lyrics with ritualistic presentations
and kabuki is the combination of Noh drama combined with folk theater. Though Kabuki dramas
are usually performed by men impersonating women to do the performance. (Traditions) Then for
the holidays such as the Japanese New year celebration that is from January 1st to the 15th.
There is the Coming of Age Day January 15th to celebrate the birthday of everyone who turn 20
over the year because that is when children are an adult. As for Shunbun no hi/ Higan no Chu
Nichi on the days many go visit the tombs of the deceased family members and take care of the
tombs of the deceased. Then they celebrate Christmas as well though it is not a religious holiday
but rather a day to spend with family and friends. (Traditions)
United States America The United States the family structure has changed over the years. The
elderly does not get as much respect as they had once. Families will take care of their elderly
family members some of the time, but there can be resentment to the person. Elderly are not seen
as knowing people in the society but as burdens for some of the people. Gender roles have also
started to change as well though there are still some thoughts that women should stay at home and

Conflict In The Bros Research Paper
The Conflict in the Balkans
The conflict in the Balkans is interesting because for years, reporters and politicians have touted it
as being the result of ancient ethnic hatred. The first phase of Yugoslavian disintegration can be
attributed to the conditions of the people living in Kosovo, an autonomous province of Yugoslavia.
In 1981, the socioeconomic conditions in Kosovo were far worse than those in the other republics
of Yugoslavia. Poverty was rampant and unemployment was around twenty percent as compared to
about two percent in Slovenia that same year. The standard of living in Kosovo was deplorable
and whatever aid was given to the province by the federal government was mismanaged. Another

Milosevic took away their right to govern themselves and as a result, he gained the attention of the
United States Congress. Annual human rights reports submitted to the White House by the
Department of State read like a prison record when it came to Serbian abuses of the people of
Kosovo. Unfortunately, Congress was not in agreement with how to treat the reports of the abuses
in Kosovo. The Bush Sr. administration was more interested in keeping Yugoslavia together and
concerned more about the breakup of the Soviet Union and the potential tragedy that such a thing
might cause. The problems of Kosovo were not viewed as important or of any interest to the
national security or economic prosperity of the United States therefore no action was needed. The
State Department catalogued massive human rights violations by the Serbian leadership in
Kosovo yet the Bush Sr. Administration did nothing. Little was said about what was going on in
the region and the American press because of the instability in the former Soviet Union said even
less. The Central Intelligence Agency was the first to predict the breakup of Yugoslavia in
September of 1990. This breakup, as examined by experts in the embassy in Belgrade and in
Washington, was certainly seen as potentially violent and leading to war.
Milosevic attempted to cripple the economy of Slovenia by boycotting Slovenian goods and
services in Serbia, Vojvodina, and Kosovo. What Milosevic managed to do was

Natural Selection Hypothesis
The effects of natural selection on the process of evolution in beans (Phaseolus).
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the process of natural selection through a simulation
involving competition of various preys and predators. In order to simulate natural selection,
experimenters became predators and acted as a species of fork, spoon, knife, or fingers. Beans of
four different phenotypes (white, green, black, and red) represented the prey. The predators hunted
prey for 30 seconds three times symbolizing three generations. The prey and predator survivors

plays a major role in the classroom management plan in my cooperating teacher s classroom. In
this fourth grade class, students are grouped in groups of four or five who work as a team to
earn marbles. Each group has a marble jar on their storage shelf in their group where the teacher
will add a variety of different sized marbles. Students can earn marbles for following directions,
answering questions, paying attention, helping others, being a good listener, and many other
positive behaviors and good choices. Different size marbles represent a different amount of
tickets that students can earn to use to purchase rewards. Some rewards include a free
homework pass, lunch with a friend, lunch with the teacher; sit in the rocking chair during
reading time, or choosing a prize from the prize box. As I observed the class, I realized this
system works really well for this group of students. The teacher would give the class directions.
For example, please get out your math journals and a pencil. The teacher did not have to say
anything about earning marbles. All she did was gather a handful of marbles, begin walking
around the room looking for a group who was following direction and ready to work. Once she
spotted a group doing what was asked, she placed the marbles in their jar. She followed the steps
until she was out of marbles. Students were ready to work fast. The clink

America s Military Presence Is Necessary Overseas
The protection of citizens lives, foreign or domestic, is a critical necessity. As a result, the military
is the most important organization in a country. In America, for instance, $598 billion is spent each
year on the military ( Federal ). Because this is such an expensive, important, and dangerous topic, it
is often debated. One of the most common arguments is whether or not America s militarypresence
is necessary overseas. Due to its foreign benefits, positive domestic effects, and overall creation of
World Peace, the negative side of the argument is outweighed. America s military presence in
foreign countries is necessary. First of all, any war that could occur would most likely be kept in
foreign nations. On September 11, 2001,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a hostile action did take place, it will also contain most acts of terrorism, violence, and even wars
in the foreign countries that are responsible for them. As a result, the citizens of America would
be able to live carefree lives. In addition to foreign affairs, a domestic military presence can be
used to support a foreign military presence. Many natural disasters occur each year in the United
States, and it is important to help those in need. One of the worst natural disasters in America s
history was Hurricane Katrina. By the time Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, America s
military was mobilizing for emergency response (Berthelot). The most important benefit of this is
the fact that soldiers save many lives from floodwaters, earthquake shaken regions, and even areas
scorched by wildfires. The military has equipment that regular citizens do not, and this is

Symbolism In Shrek
In the beginning of the movie Shrek, the damsel in distress, Fiona, is trapped in a tower guarded
by a fire breathing dragon waiting for the day where her prince would come. Instead of being saved
by a prince, she is surprised with an ogre and a donkey that came to her rescue. In the end, Fiona
had a life decision in front of her. She had to choose between Lord Farquaad, a selfish man who
wanted to use Fiona for her title, or Shrek, the ogre who came to her rescue. In order to break the
curse, she had to kiss her true love, and she chose Shrek because he genuinely loved her. Mary
Wollstonecraft and Virginia Woolf most likely would not have agreed with most of the ideals of
this movie because it portrays the female protagonist as a damsel

Who Burns For The Perfection Of Paper American Espada...
America still does offer the American dream, but for some it is easier to achieve. Take for
example a person who has lived in America their entire life and their family has lived here for
generations. He has some wealth, health care, labor unions, American education, and a sense of
where he wants to go. Now here comes a Russian immigrant who speaks no english, has barely
any money, a work visa, Russian education, and has a very limited choice of jobs. Think to
yourself which one has a higher chance of becoming successful. In Who burns for the Perfection of
Paper, Martin Espada talks about how when he was 16 years old he worked in a factory making
legal pads. Ten years later, in the law school , Espada uses legal pads as a lawyer. This is an
example of the American Dream. He began working at a young age to get money and went through

The Fantastic Journey Of The Mathematics
Abstract: This paper is to give a brief description of the fantastic journey of the mathematics
throughout the time. It is intended to provide information through archeological about the
importance and use of counting systems by pre historic men. Also, it will illustrate how the
development of early civilizations and mathematics was closed related. Furthermore; it will shows
the development as a magical journey which involved many thousands of years.
The Origins When and where are the origins of mathematics?
The origins of mathematics accompanied the evolution of social systems in many ways. The social
development of any society requires some sort of calculation and the use of a number system. On
the same way, the arithmetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the invention of numbers and counting systems occurred when people started to live together
and formed the first human society, mathematical scenes was the link that helped them to form
societies and to develop a type of communication system and in a way help them to establish the
first trading system which in turn, was the fundamental factor to establish a communication
channel with other societies. For example, the article titled Mathematics in pre history says that
there is an archeological evidence which describe that they have used some kind of basic
mathematics as early as 30, 000 BCE, the article mentions that bone artifacts where discovered
that had use for reckoning time in sequences of numbers that agree with the number of days
included in successive phases of the moon . So, ancient math is an accepted fact, and maybe the
first method of counting was just a simple method like adding tow objects, or dividing food among
all the family members. Some scholars agree that they started counting by using their hands and
fingers, others say scientist say that the early man started counting by using sticks and stones.
However, we can only speculate on the effectiveness of these systems, but it is obvious that despite
being so simple it was an effective system for them.

The issues raised by Isoft elucidate the importance of recording an accurate picture of its
earnings. The joint project of the FASB and the IASB is trying to converge the two sets of
standards and offer a single revenue recognition model that can be applied consistently to various
transactions which would address these issues of lack of guidance. Introduction: In January 2006,
Isoft Ltd, a Manchester based supplier of software applications for the healthcare sector,
announced that its profit would be below market expectations due to a change in its accounting
policy for revenue recognition, when it announced its results for the year ended April 2006. This
situation is not unusual within the software industry and reflects the issues that software
companies face when it comes to accounting for revenues. As the financial controller of

consequences of those issues on the business and finally; to determine if those practices could

Markus Zusak. The book is opened by introducing Death as the narrator. Death starts describing
the three times he saw the book thief. Rising Action The rising action begins with Liesel and her
brother, Warner, on a train with their birth mother going to their foster parents, Hans and Rosa
Hubermann s house. Suddenly Warner dies on the train and is buried in a graveyard near a train
station. During the burial a gravedigger apprentice drops a book, The Gravedigger s Handbook,

It can be justified that because the narrator of the book is Death, the theme of death has
importance. In The Book Thief, death is shown in multiple ways such as, war, bombings, and
suicides. In Nazi Germany death was everywhere, there was a constant danger of dying. Death
causes a lot of problems for many characters and depending on the character and scenario, death
is reacted to differently. One problem death causes is that, it makes characters suffer, including
Death himself. Death says that he cannot bear to look at the leftovers ; leftovers are the people
who are left behind after a loved one has died. Suffering can also be seen when Liesel s brother,
Warner dies on the train. Warner s death causes Liesel to have nightmares nightly. Suffering was
also caused by the fear of death. When Hitler came to power and caused a war, he invited death
upon the habitants of Germany. The mayor of Molching, Heinz Hubermann said, [The people of
Molching should] prepare for harder times (261), as the Soviets and British joined forces to
battle Germany. Another example of the severe suffering caused by the fear of death can be
seen when Max goes to hide in the Hubermann s house, When a Jew shows up at your place of
residence in the early hours of the morning, in the very birthplace of Nazism, your likely to
experience extreme levels of discomfort. Anxiety, disbelief, paranoia (199). Death also had a
different reaction depending on the character or scenario. For example, Liesel reacts much
different when her loved ones die compared to when she faces death herself. When her loved ones
died, she wanted them back, but when she faces death she accepts it happily. The theme of death
ultimately has a message that, death is inevitable and when it comes your turn to die, accept it
because you are going to die (3), no matter

Introduction In the coming paragraphs, I will prove that Ronald Dworkin s criticisms and critiques
of Catherine Mackinnon s views towards pornography and society are largely unfounded and
immaterial, and that government intervention via legislation is required in the protection of women
s interests. I will begin by explaining Catherine Mackinnon s opinion and support for the Butler
decision and thereafter, I will discuss Ronald Dworkin s critique of it. After outlining their
positions, I will proceed to highlight the areas of incommensurability between their arguments. My

She comments that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms provides not only formative but
substantial protection from inequalities. Unlike the U.S., Mackinnon comments that the Canadian
system seeks to alter the poor treatment of disadvantaged groups and amend their status.[6] The
Court utilized this approach in the case of R v. Butler where it recognized that the humiliation,
degradation, and subordination of women was harm to society as a whole as it led to an
inequality.[7] In other words, the court recognized the social and communal harm imposed by
pornography, that is to say it recognized the context under which the pornography occurred.
Recognizing not only the harm from pornography but more importantly the inequality that it
perpetuates, the Canadian courts ruled in an opposite manner to their U.S counterparts. At one
point, Mackinnon wonders what warrants the restriction of freedom of speech in the US. One
judge once wrote, fear of serious injury cannot alone justify the suppression of free speech . She
points out that it is this exact fear a fear of serious injury which justifies the government s
prohibition on child pornography.[8] She continues that it is the plight of the abused, which is
frequently trivialized in the United States. Those who are assaulted are told to accept the freedom
of your abusers and that you are not really being hurt .[9] But one of the most important differences

each individual store has its own set of goals and missions to achieve success. This is also

To begin with, people in the modern world believe that health is of greater importance than people
s opinions. Humans feel emotion, so why should it be different for men? Showing sensitivity

Viet Nam Essay
Tactics in Vietnam were an important factor in the victory of the Vietcong over the U.S. There
were fundamental differences in their fighting methods, which the Vietcong were able to take full
advantage of. The Vietcong used Guerrilla warfare, this meant that they used their knowledge of
the area they were fighting in to hinder the U.S. The U.S army had been used to conventional
warfare, in the form of bouts of fighting. Guerrilla warfare meant that they had to be constantly
alert and Booby traps meant that many soldiers died and witnessed horrific deaths. This was
naturally unnerving for the soldiers concerned, particularly so because many of the soldiers were
young and inexperienced.

The main tactic employed by the U.S was known as search and destroy . This meant hunting
down and killing Vietcong. The Vietcong used a similar tactic called find and kill , although
this was conceptually the same as search and destroy it was much more successful. One reason
for this was that the U.S soldiers wore uniforms and were easier to pick out. Another reason was
that the U.S soldiers had to contend with Vietcong mines and booby traps. These included what
was known as a Punji trap, which was a deep hole filled with spikes covered with poison of
faeces. Another was the Bouncing Betty which was a mine under the soil with three prongs that
when steed on would explode. It was extremely disconcerting for soldiers to know that their next
step could be their last. This caused a whole host of mental problems for the U.S soldiers. Booby
traps accounted for %11 of deaths and %17 of wounds in the war.
The U.S used pacification , to win the hearts and minds of the South Vietnamese. This meant that
help was given to the villages. Schools and hospitals were built. This policy was a success; many
South Vietnamese remained in support of the Americans and were immune to the persuasive talk of
communist infiltrators. However those who were already convinced as to the virtues of
communism would not be swayed. The Vietcong used statistics such as the tally of American
planes being shot down, in order to keep up morale and keep the troops faithful and

Persuasive Essay On The Road
It is often considered a rite of passage when you become old enough to drive. A momentous trip
to the Department of Motor Vehicles and you can now bask in all the glory that having a license
allows. There is almost a countdown clock clicking away the time that must pass before you can
make this a reality. A sleepless night is almost a guarantee on the night before you make that
trek. I however, was an exception to this trend. Our family has been more mobile than most my
entire life. Being on the road and on the move is something that is common place for me.
Approximately every two years we move to a new place so my father can continue to serve in
the military. It was during an eight day trek from California to Kansas that I realized that it is the
winding roads and highways that connect our great country. The best way to see this country is
clearly to travel on these roads is with a vehicle of some kind. Up until my senior year, my mother
has been the primary driver for all my activities. Once we were settled in Kansas I realized it was
time to get my license. My father decided to start looking for a vehicle for my brother and me to
share. He spent his weekends scouring the ads. He stumbled upon a truck that looked too good to
pass up. This was the starting point of my lovehate relationship. It was a 1986 Ford F 150 4x4
with a 302 electronic fuel injected engine, with a manual 4 speed transmission. It was in the
price range my parents wanted to spend and the ad listed two pages of items that they implied
had been restored. We went to check it out on a cold Kansas December morning. As we pulled
through the open gate I got my first view of the truck. I just stood there and stared. The brown
and tan large stripes of color screamed the 80s at me. Two giant CB antennas loomed above the
truck bed more than five feet into the air almost waving at me from the brisk gusts of wind. As I
swung around to the back end, I noticed the large cow bell attached to the trailer hitch. I was
speechless. I was thankful the freezing temperatures outside warranted the wearing of a scarf
across my face. I opened the passenger door and almost feel backwards in dismay. The interior

B. Rationale
They wrote this book because of the unprecedented, enormously enthusiastic reader response to the
Harvard Business Review articles what makes a leader? and leadership that gets results. They also
wanted to help more executives, managers, and workers at companies and organizations around the
world. They wrote this book to answer some primal leadership question, for example, what do the
benefits of primal leadership affect organization? How do leaders create the emotional climate that
fosters creative innovations? (Goleman, Boyatzis, amp; McKee, 2004)
The authors believed primal dimension of leadership that leaders could use power of EI
management determined whether everything else a leader did would work as well as it could. And
many leaders did not know that how to use EI management to make them and their teams
successful. This book is legitimate through real example of interviews which indicated the true
cases.
C. Face validity
From the book, the themes are about emotional intelligence competencies of resonant leadership by
both the individual and the entire team. I believe the concepts and themes are positive. Not only in
work environment but also life world, many people always lack of emotional intelligence
competencies. I also agree with the

The Design Of A Spacecraft
The design of a spacecraft was derived from already successful Chandrayaan 1 and INSAT
(Indian National Satellite System). Mixing a design from previous spacecraft made the project
cheaper. The space probe had a mass of 1337 kg (475 kg of dry mass, 15 kg of payloads and 852

Social Media Profiles As An Invasion Of Privacy
One of the most highly debated issues in the business world is the use of social media profiles as
a determining factor in the hiring process. Some people feel that using someone s social media
profile is an invasion of privacy because it uses something from their personal life to determine
their professional success. As long as the company follows some basic guidelines I believe there is
nothing wrong with them looking into the profilesof their potential employees. It is important to
point out that while looking at many of the different ethical ideologies, this practice does not
violate the ethical conducts. Teleologists would agree that looking into someones profile will
ensure that you are hiring someone who will conduct themselves in a proper manner. Therefore,
the means of looking into their personal lives justifies the ends in which you hire a professional
with good character. Deontologists would likely agree that as long as the company does not try
to find loop holes to see into protected accounts that they are respecting the rights of the
individual and therefore are not being unethical. I believe that it is reasonable for a company to
use social media profiles as a basis for hiring because everything posted on the internet is public
domain, it allows them to get an understanding of who the potential client is, and you want to
ensure that you are hiring someone who fits in to your company. I believe that it is reasonable
to use a potential employee s social media

Jack Russell Terrier Essay
PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER (JACK RUSSELL TERRIER)
ORIGIN AND HISTORY
This breed was developed in England in the mid 1800s by a clergyman, Reverend John Russell.
Rev. Russell was an avid enthusiast of fox hunting and wanted to develop a dog that would go to
ground after the fox and flush it from its hole so the hunt could continue. Size was of the utmost
importance to Rev. Russell as the dog had to keep up with the foxhounds. The ideal height of his
terriers at the shoulders was 15 . After Rev. Russell s death, a short legged, long bodied dog with
prick ears and a smooth coat came to be known as the Jack Russell terrier and it was that dog that
was brought to America. In 1990 the breed was established in England as the Parson Jack Russell
terrier and adopted the standard desired by Rev. Russell of a muscular, narrow chested dog, 12 15
inches in height.
In 1985, the Jack Russell Terrier Breeders Association was formed to re establish the original type
terrier bred by Rev. Russell. This group became the Jack Russell Terrier Association of American

Lab Report Cell Diffusion
Lab Report Introduction: Background Information The plasma membrane of a cell is like the
skin of a human. It is selectively permeable which means it selects what it wants to allow into the
cell and blocks out what it doesn t want. The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer
which contains 75% phospholipids, about 20% cholesterol and 5% glycolipids. Phospholipids are
amphipathic which means they contain both polar and non polar parts, these are their polar heads
and non polar tails. The lipid bilayeris like a sandwich in which the polar heads are the bread of

It showed that if the pore of a membrane is not large enough, diffusion will not occur. However,
if the pore was large enough and diffusion subsequently occurred, the rate of diffusion was the
same even if the molecular weight cut off (pore size) was bigger. The following solutes and their
simple diffusion data will be explained in order from smallest to largest, smallest being one that
was able to fit through smaller a pore size.
NaCl was able to diffuse starting at 50 MWCO and the pore size there after did not affect the rate
of diffusion, (0.0150 mM/min) which stayed was the same. Urea was not able to diffuse until
100 MWCO and the rate of diffusion stayed the same at 0.0094 mM/min. Glucose was able to
diffuse only at a 200 MWCO and Albumin was too large to fit through any of the pore sizes and
did not diffuse.
Activity two: Simulating Facilitated Diffusion
This activity did support the hypothesis which was that the rate of diffusion increases when the
quantity of carrier proteins increases. One thing to be noted is that when the glucose concentration
was increased the rate of diffusion also increased which was not something that was expected.
However if there are not enough carrier proteins available to combine with the solute not all of the
solute will be transported/diffused down the concentration

accused people, were innocent. They share the same relationship as the victim of this song.
I will always love you
This song is about how the singer will always love another character no matter what they put them
through. In The Crucible, Abigail displays this same trait when she protects her husband John
Proctor by lying to the court on his behalf even though she knows he has cheated on her in the past.
Notes
This song is about one man who writes letters to the opera expressing his views on how an opera
should be run. The entire opera disagrees with him and as a result, he seems like the bad guy. In
The Crucible, John Proctor opposes the church s belief of the existence of witches and wizards,
but because more people sided with the church, John Proctor looked like the bad guy and that
costed him his life.

Analysis Of Schindler s List, And Benigni s Life Is...
Throughout history, a very small amount of women have made their way into myths, and
legend as heroes rather they are portrayed as the seductress, or some other secondary character.
Even today, we still live in a male dominated society, where women are still being
underrepresented, and even misrepresented. While there are many works of art that have women
as the main subject, they are often depicted as mothers, victims, sexual beings, or shown as pure,
and innocent. We rarely get to see women playing the dominant roles. Holocaust art works are no
stranger to this theme. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting how females are depicted
in Spielberg s Schindler s List, and Benigni s Life is Beautiful. While the Oscar nominated
movies, Schindler s List and Life is Beautiful, both fail to represent women in the spotlight as main
characters, each movie seem to choose different ways and use different techniques to depict
women. In Schindler s List, the portrayal of women are the stereotypical passive women quite the
opposite to Life is Beautiful where we see more dominant and independent women. It is clear from
the beginning that both movies are told from a maleperspective. We start off with Schindler s wife,
Emilie Schindler, played by Caroline Goodall. In the movie she is portrayed as a filial wife who
comes to Germany to be with her womanizing husband. We can see from her actions that she a very
patient womanwho loves Schindler unconditionally, even as he

Becoming A Lawyer Essay
Unlike many on my classmates I am studying to become a lawyer. The legal field has remained
firmly set in the past. Most legal documents need to be delivered in person to the court. The old
nature of the legal system has been slow to change of time some states like Georgia refuse to
implement online system that allow a professional to submit documents online. Even the trusts
and will are found as paper copies in a binder or stapled. The private nature of most practices in
the legal field require that most actions are done through paperwork. The paperwork written to
the extent that there could be hundreds of pages per case. To understand the information in a
case lawyers will be required to physically read each page of the documents. Many of the
practices also involve in an in person basis where the lawyer and the client would have to talk
face to face conversations. To set myself ahead of my competition I decided to take up a Business
Administration which allow me to start a business background which will help if I want to enter
into business/corporate law. Some work in the legal field have advanced through the use of
technology. Through some research at Americanbar.org I was able to find some noted
advancements. Using google I looked using the search criteria technology used in the legal field.
The first technological advancement was the use of billable hour management software. This
advancement has allowed legal professionals to take their most mundane of tasks and add

Without 100% deliverables on hand this could create a bullwhip in the supply chain. A bullwhip
effect is point to a lack of synchronization among supply chain members. This happens when
changes in sales ripples backward (e.g. bullwhip) because the supply patterns do not match the
demand patterns causing shortages and delays. The current supply chain used between Riordan
s China location and the local Chinese company is the responsive supply chain process. One of
the features of a responsive supply chain is that companies use a build to order and mass
customization process as a means to meet customer specification requirements. The local
Chinese company is a make to stock operation and future demands for fans are forecasted based
on previous three years sales. They use this method in hopes that previous sales history will
repeat itself without any significant changes. Implementing an agile supply chain process would
be beneficial for Riordan s China plant. Agile supply chain strategy is to be responsible and
flexible to customer needs. They are considered agile because they are responsive to change and
irregularity in demands of customers while reducing risk supply disorder on back end. The agile
supply chain combines the strengths of hedged and responsive supply

BuntzAnd yet the official bureaucratic knowledge of the war lays claim to reality, whereas
poetry as a literary genre qualifies only as a product of the imagination. Unlike intelligence
reports, maps, diagrams, and figures, the warrior s knowledge (Gibson 461 68) expressed in
poetry does not count as official reality, (Buntz 9). At a previous school, I had a critical thinking

CRAcross the triple canopy jungle you shared / You don t remember it . (7 8) Two themes that
are similar in both Buntz and Weigl s poetry is the use of nature and memory. In Weigl s poem
Song of Napalm , the subject of the poem was inferred to have lived in a farm while reminded of
scenes from the war. In Buntz essay, he relates the jungles with the memories of the soldiers as
something that they cannot escape from. JMThe girl / Running from her village, napalm
/ Stuck to her dress like jelly / Her hands reaching for the no one / Who waits in waves of heat
before her (23 27). This quote in Weigl s Song of Napalm describes the atrocities of war
witnessed by soldiers. Although the soldiers see this on a daily basis, Buntz mentions that this was
a routine and that soldiers could do nothing to help in these situations. JMThey are strangers,
isolated by the horror they have suffered, inflicted on others, or witnessed (Bunzt) Bunzt describes
the aftermath of soldiers returning home from the battlefield. In Weigl s poem Song of Napalm ,
the veteran is standing alongside someone but is the only one constantly reminded of the horror
they have seen. This illustrates the difference between people who were at war and those who did
not partake in war.

Langston Hughes And The American Dream
The epigraphy by Langston Hughes describes how dreams change after they had been put off.
When dreams fail, it affects each person differently. The person may just give up on the dream
completely, find a new way to reach the dream, change the situation so it may not be the dream
but something similar, or it can destroy other dreams too. The Youngers were an African
American family who lived on the south side of Chicago and barely scraped by with Walter s
job as a limousine driver. They all eagerly waited for the insurance money, produced after Walter
s dad passed away, to make their dreams come true. But when the check arrived, Walter gave most
of the money to Willy Harris, a business partner, who ran off with the money when it was supposed
to be invested in a liquor store.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

had been out of the question and the dream of Lena (Mama) buying a new house with what was
left with the money had been jeopardized. As Hughes s Harlem predicted, his dream exploded,
leaving his family in the crossfire. Just as an explosion would damage the surroundings and
possibly killing people, Walter s dream damaged his ties to the family and destroyed their dreams.
However, he made it all up by fighting for their new house and as Mama said : He finally came

Hero Is A Hero Essay
A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself (Joseph
Campbell Quotes). Heroes impact other people s lives by contributing to a cause that makes a
positive change in the world. To me, a hero is somebody who believes in a significant cause,
dedicates his entire life to improving the cause, and changes the world for the better. Heroism
today can be found all over the world and in all different forms. It could be as small as standing
up for a victim of bullying, voicing your opinions for an important cause, or helping someone in a
dangerous situation. However, it could also be as big as finding the cure for a disease, saving
people from a burning building, or inventing a life saving device. The unifying... Show more

This drove her to take her education into her own hands and pave her own path to success. Since
Britain did not permit her to earn a degree, she decided to move to France so she could earn it
there. When she returned to Britain, Garrett founded New Hospital for Women in London, which
was staffed entirely by women. Later, Garrett continued to encourage women to go into medicine
and helped found the London Medical College for Women, where she taught for several years.
She later retired to Aldeburgh and made history by becoming the first female mayor in Britain.
After a successful life, she passed away at age 81 in Suffolk. Garrett s character traits that helped
her achieve several accomplishments throughout her life resemble those of a hero; she is
courageous, determined, and has a strong sense of purpose. These traits enable a hero to make a
difference in the world and change many people s lives. Elizabeth Garrett Anderson is a hero
because of her determination to obtain a medical degree, her courage in pursuing a career in a field
dominated by men, and because she made a positive change in the world that opened up
opportunities for many others.
Elizabeth Garrett Anderson was determined to accomplish her goals and was willing to combat any
obstacles that halted her efforts, which speaks to her heroic nature. In the earliest phases of her

about how a young boy named Sam Gribley goes to leave his family of sailors to live off the land

Thomas Lanier Williams, And Tennessee Williams
Case Example Thomas Lanier Williams, or Tennessee Williams as he was later known, was born
on March 26, 1911 in Columbus, Mississippi. He was the second of three children, he had an
older sister Rose and a younger brother Dakin, born to Cornelius and Edwina Williams. Because
Williams father was a traveling shoe salesman for much of his early childhood he and his family
lived with his maternal grandparents. However, due to the nature of his grandfather s work as
an Episcopal minister the family moved often; residing in several Mississippi towns during
Williams first 7 years. During those early years he managed to grow close to his sister Rose and
his grandfather. In 1918, Cornelius secured a position at a shoe factory which allowed him to
move the family to St. Louis, Missouri. The move was difficult for the family; the marriage
between Cornelius and Edwina was described as strained and the Williams children were teased
and bullied at their new school. It is at this time when Williams began skipping school and
spending much of his time writing. In 1928, at the age of 16 Williams was first published after
placing third in an essay contest. Then in 1929, he enrolled at the University of Missouri, to
pursue a degree in journalism at his father s insistence. However, in 1931 before he had obtained a
degree Williams father demanded he withdraw; after which Williams began working at the same
company with his father. Unhappy with his job and distressed by the fact that his

What Single Word Mean To Me Analysis
I believe that the words spoken by others can hold a powerful meaning in people s minds. To me,
I think a single word has the power to dramatically change someone s day, or life. I know when
people say negative, mean things about me, even though they may think it is a joke, my feelings
get hurt, and when they say positive, nice things about me I get happy. My mood can instantly
change depending on whether someone says something nice, or something mean about me. Words
of discouragement brought me down; I let other people define me. My life has consisted of social
issues, and the words people said about me affected me greatly in more ways than other people
know. Due to the fact that I have many severe illnesses, my weight, and my looks, throughout...

Jurassic Park Research Papers
Jurassic Park is a movie based on the novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. The movie of
course, like all films based off of books, is slightly different from the original novel. Yet, this title
shares a similar theme with its original piece of work. The recreation of dinosaurs. Sadly the
Jurassic Parkversion of dinosaurrecreation will only make it harder to bring these extinct animals
back to life. Our real life scientists may be able to somewhat recreate dinosaurs through Artificial
Embryo Twinning or Somatic Cell Nuclear transfer. We have successfully cloned 20+ animals or
recreated extinct animals such as the Bucardo or Pyrenean Ibex.
The InGen scientist in Jurassic park use a form of Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer. The scientists...

Through this technique the scientist would have to grind up the Dinosaurs bones to extract
blood cells and proteins (Cloning and Dr. Loy). The only negative point in this form of
recreation or cloning is that it is ...used only as a backup to the cloning that produces a full
strand of DNA... . Another way would be like the InGen scientist using Somatic Cell Nuclear
Transfer. The only precaution would be to ensure that the blood or cells being extracted are
actually from dinosaurs which at this point is extremely difficult. Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer
is when and ovum is created with a donor nucleus. First, the nucleus (containing the DNA) is
removed and the rest of the cell is thrown out while the nucleus of an egg cell is also removed.
Next, the nucleus of the somatic cell is inserted into the egg cells nucleus place. After the insertion,
the host cell reprograms the somatic cell nucleus. The egg will begin to divide. Lastly, after many
mitotic divisions the single cell can form a blastocyst with closely identical DNA to the original
organism (SCNT).
Our efforts on recreating animals have been successful to an extent. Dolly the Sheep is a perfect
example of recreation (Roslin Institute, Scotland). Also animals such as the Bucardo (Bringing
them back to life) , Carp, Cumulina the mouse etc. (20 animals...). The Bucardo was successfully
cloned

  • 4. Differences Between Love Canal And Chernobyl Love Canal and Chernobyl are two different environmental disasters that share many similarities, yet have their differences too. Love canal is located in Niagara Falls, New York and is the site of a seventy acre landfill. This landfill caused a major environmental pollution disaster that affected hundreds of people. Toxic waste began to invade homes, backyards, and playgrounds. Two hundred and forty eight different chemicals were found buried beneath this community. Eight hundred families had to relocate. (Softschools.com). Chernobyl is located in Ukraine, this natural disaster was the explosion of reactor number four, and occurred while under maintenance check. This explosion let out two hundred times the amount of radiation than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Seven Million people were affected, and three hundred and fifty thousand people were forced out of their homes and relocated. This explosion damaged sixty three thousand square miles of land (friendsofchernobyl.org). It is important to realize although differences are present, both LoveCanal and Chernobyl had similar effects on humans and the land. Many people suffered from these disasters, and had to change their lifestyles because of the effects done to the land. Chernobyl and Love Canal both had many negative effects on humans and the land near these places. The land in both events was impacted drastically. • 8. The Phychosocial Theory Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development Self Analysis Every person is a unique individual. Each of us possesses characteristics and traits that may be influenced either by genetic, environmental factors or both. These two factors are constantly argued in the field of psychology. In my opinion as counselor, both perspectives have its respective strengths and weaknesses. It is important to a counselor like me, to have deeper knowledge about the different personality theories because it allows me to know myself more and understand the people around me especially the counselees who trust my ability. The Psychosocial Development Theory of Erik Erikson identifies eight stages that individual has to pass through from infancy to late adulthood stages. I remember when my sister asked me to look after my nephew who was at 5 months old. I was afraid to carry him the moment he cried because he looked so fragile. However, I remember what Erikson said about this stage that it is important to establish trust to the caregiver and provide the basic needs of the infant otherwise, the mistrust will be developed. The moment I carried my nephew and hand him a toy, he stopped crying and started to suck the toy. From the perspective of Jean Piaget, infants have neonatal schemas or innate ability even before they have more experience about the world. From there I understand clearly that babies have incredible reflexes which are untold to them and that make them wonderful. As I continually observe my nephew who appears to ... This is difficult if you do not know exactly what the Colonel wants to send to the Commanding General of the base. The Colonel had an open door policy, but as a courtesy a person needs to talk to his direct supervisor first. We changed the slides so often during the departure of the Soldiers that my fellow coworkers got frustrated. Rape will give you the consequences of going to jail. Doing so will affect the person that has committed it and the person that has been violated. Classical Theory applies to Mike Tyson in much different type of components. Mike Tyson wanted sex with a young female and he received it. That falls under the category of when you pursue self interest. In many or almost all cases of rape it seems like it is self interest. Once you commit rape you should know that there will be consequences if you are caught. But, in Mike Tyson case he claims that she gave him consent to have sex with the young female. A more appropriate ethical analysis would seek to understand the ways in which the decision making process itself fostered or hindered responsibility among individuals within the organization and of the organization itself. In this respect, when viewed as a problem of responsibility, the Challenger disaster presents a much more insightful lesson on the nature of decision making in a large organization such as NASA. While it seems clear that the decision that led to the explosion of the Challenger was made by those lower level managers who chose to ignore the objections of technical experts who opposed the launch, the subsequent investigation revealed how the decision making processes within NASA (and it contractors) worked to limit the agency of decision makers and to obscure accountability for their decision making. The problem of responsibility in the decision making process focuses upon three issues: the availability of information, the role of technical specifications and formal regulations, and the management chain of command. Each of these factors contributed to the exercise of poor judgment and to the obscuring of accountability in the decision making process. Because this is such an expensive, important, and dangerous topic, it is often debated. One of the most common arguments is whether or not America s militarypresence is necessary overseas. Due to its foreign benefits, positive domestic effects, and overall creation of World Peace, the negative side of the argument is outweighed. Many natural disasters occur each year in the United States, and it is important to help those in need. One of the worst natural disasters in America s history was Hurricane Katrina. By the time Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, America s military was mobilizing for emergency response (Berthelot). The most important benefit of this is the fact that soldiers save many lives from floodwaters, earthquake shaken regions, and even areas scorched by wildfires. The military has equipment that regular citizens do not, and this is demonstrated by the lowered casualty statistics. In addition, the military often helps to rebuild structures and get the region back on its feet. As a result, individuals are able to continue to enjoy their lives. It can be justified that because the narrator of the book is Death, the theme of death has importance. In The Book Thief, death is shown in multiple ways such as, war, bombings, and suicides. In Nazi Germany death was everywhere, there was a constant danger of dying. Death causes a lot of problems for many characters and depending on the character and scenario, death is reacted to differently. One problem death causes is that, it makes characters suffer, including Death himself. Death says that he cannot bear to look at the leftovers ; leftovers are the people who are left behind after a loved one has died. Suffering can also be seen when Liesel s brother, Warner dies on the train. Warner s death causes Liesel to have nightmares nightly. Suffering was also caused by the fear of death. When Hitler came to power and caused a war, he invited death upon the habitants of Germany. The mayor of Molching, Heinz Hubermann said, [The people of Molching should] prepare for harder times (261), as the Soviets and British joined forces to battle Germany. Another example of the severe suffering caused by the fear of death can be seen when Max goes to hide in the Hubermann s house, When a Jew shows up at your place of residence in the early hours of the morning, in the very birthplace of Nazism, your likely to experience extreme levels of discomfort. Anxiety, disbelief, paranoia (199). Death also had a different reaction depending on the character or scenario. For example, Liesel reacts much different when her loved ones die compared to when she faces death herself. When her loved ones died, she wanted them back, but when she faces death she accepts it happily. The theme of death ultimately has a message that, death is inevitable and when it comes your turn to die, accept it because you are going to die (3), no matter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She comments that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms provides not only formative but substantial protection from inequalities. Unlike the U.S., Mackinnon comments that the Canadian system seeks to alter the poor treatment of disadvantaged groups and amend their status.[6] The Court utilized this approach in the case of R v. Butler where it recognized that the humiliation, degradation, and subordination of women was harm to society as a whole as it led to an inequality.[7] In other words, the court recognized the social and communal harm imposed by pornography, that is to say it recognized the context under which the pornography occurred. Recognizing not only the harm from pornography but more importantly the inequality that it perpetuates, the Canadian courts ruled in an opposite manner to their U.S counterparts. At one point, Mackinnon wonders what warrants the restriction of freedom of speech in the US. One judge once wrote, fear of serious injury cannot alone justify the suppression of free speech . She points out that it is this exact fear a fear of serious injury which justifies the government s prohibition on child pornography.[8] She continues that it is the plight of the abused, which is frequently trivialized in the United States. The Vietcong used a similar tactic called find and kill , although this was conceptually the same as search and destroy it was much more successful. A momentous trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles and you can now bask in all the glory that having a license allows. There is almost a countdown clock clicking away the time that must pass before you can make this a reality. A sleepless night is almost a guarantee on the night before you make that trek. Approximately every two years we move to a new place so my father can continue to serve in the military. It was during an eight day trek from California to Kansas that I realized that it is the winding roads and highways that connect our great country. The best way to see this country is clearly to travel on these roads is with a vehicle of some kind. Up until my senior year, my mother has been the primary driver for all my activities. Once we were settled in Kansas I realized it was time to get my license. My father decided to start looking for a vehicle for my brother and me to share. He spent his weekends scouring the ads. He stumbled upon a truck that looked too good to pass up. This was the starting point of my lovehate relationship. It was a 1986 Ford F 150 4x4 with a 302 electronic fuel injected engine, with a manual 4 speed transmission. It was in the price range my parents wanted to spend and the ad listed two pages of items that they implied had been restored. We went to check it out on a cold Kansas December morning. As we pulled through the open gate I got my first view of the truck. I just stood there and stared. The brown and tan large stripes of color screamed the 80s at me. Two giant CB antennas loomed above the truck bed more than five feet into the air almost waving at me from the brisk gusts of wind. As I swung around to the back end, I noticed the large cow bell attached to the trailer hitch. I was speechless. Some people feel that using someone s social media profile is an invasion of privacy because it uses something from their personal life to determine their professional success. As long as the company follows some basic guidelines I believe there is nothing wrong with them looking into the profilesof their potential employees. It is important to point out that while looking at many of the different ethical ideologies, this practice does not violate the ethical conducts. Teleologists would agree that looking into someones profile will ensure that you are hiring someone who will conduct themselves in a proper manner. Therefore, the means of looking into their personal lives justifies the ends in which you hire a professional with good character. Deontologists would likely agree that as long as the company does not try to find loop holes to see into protected accounts that they are respecting the rights of the individual and therefore are not being unethical. I believe that it is reasonable for a company to use social media profiles as a basis for hiring because everything posted on the internet is public domain, it allows them to get an understanding of who the potential client is, and you want to ensure that you are hiring someone who fits in to your company. The following solutes and their simple diffusion data will be explained in order from smallest to largest, smallest being one that was able to fit through smaller a pore size. NaCl was able to diffuse starting at 50 MWCO and the pore size there after did not affect the rate of diffusion, (0.0150 mM/min) which stayed was the same. Urea was not able to diffuse until 100 MWCO and the rate of diffusion stayed the same at 0.0094 mM/min. Glucose was able to diffuse only at a 200 MWCO and Albumin was too large to fit through any of the pore sizes and did not diffuse. Activity two: Simulating Facilitated Diffusion This activity did support the hypothesis which was that the rate of diffusion increases when the quantity of carrier proteins increases. One thing to be noted is that when the glucose concentration was increased the rate of diffusion also increased which was not something that was expected. However if there are not enough carrier proteins available to combine with the solute not all of the solute will be transported/diffused down the concentration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Crucible By William Shakespeare singer of this song and Abigail both share the same type of jealousy due to love. March of the Witch Hunters This song is about the citizens of the Emerald City accusing a character of being a witch. They blame all of their problems on her, even though she did nothing wrong. This character is not actually a witch, but she is falsely accused by the other characters who eventually set out to kill her. In The Crucible, there were many accusations towards the people of Salem of being a witch or wizard. None of them were true because witches and wizards are not real and therefore, all the accused people, were innocent. They share the same relationship as the victim of this song. I will always love you This song is about how the singer will always love another character no matter what they put them through. In The Crucible, Abigail displays this same trait when she protects her husband John Proctor by lying to the court on his behalf even though she knows he has cheated on her in the past. Notes This song is about one man who writes letters to the opera expressing his views on how an opera should be run. The entire opera disagrees with him and as a result, he seems like the bad guy. In The Crucible, John Proctor opposes the church s belief of the existence of witches and wizards, but because more people sided with the church, John Proctor looked like the bad guy and that costed him his life. • 44. Analysis Of Schindler s List, And Benigni s Life Is... Throughout history, a very small amount of women have made their way into myths, and legend as heroes rather they are portrayed as the seductress, or some other secondary character. Even today, we still live in a male dominated society, where women are still being underrepresented, and even misrepresented. While there are many works of art that have women as the main subject, they are often depicted as mothers, victims, sexual beings, or shown as pure, and innocent. We rarely get to see women playing the dominant roles. Holocaust art works are no stranger to this theme. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting how females are depicted in Spielberg s Schindler s List, and Benigni s Life is Beautiful. While the Oscar nominated movies, Schindler s List and Life is Beautiful, both fail to represent women in the spotlight as main characters, each movie seem to choose different ways and use different techniques to depict women. In Schindler s List, the portrayal of women are the stereotypical passive women quite the opposite to Life is Beautiful where we see more dominant and independent women. It is clear from the beginning that both movies are told from a maleperspective. We start off with Schindler s wife, Emilie Schindler, played by Caroline Goodall. In the movie she is portrayed as a filial wife who comes to Germany to be with her womanizing husband. We can see from her actions that she a very patient womanwho loves Schindler unconditionally, even as he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was the second of three children, he had an older sister Rose and a younger brother Dakin, born to Cornelius and Edwina Williams. Because Williams father was a traveling shoe salesman for much of his early childhood he and his family lived with his maternal grandparents. However, due to the nature of his grandfather s work as an Episcopal minister the family moved often; residing in several Mississippi towns during Williams first 7 years. During those early years he managed to grow close to his sister Rose and his grandfather. In 1918, Cornelius secured a position at a shoe factory which allowed him to move the family to St. Louis, Missouri. The move was difficult for the family; the marriage between Cornelius and Edwina was described as strained and the Williams children were teased and bullied at their new school. It is at this time when Williams began skipping school and spending much of his time writing. In 1928, at the age of 16 Williams was first published after placing third in an essay contest. The only precaution would be to ensure that the blood or cells being extracted are actually from dinosaurs which at this point is extremely difficult. Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer is when and ovum is created with a donor nucleus. First, the nucleus (containing the DNA) is removed and the rest of the cell is thrown out while the nucleus of an egg cell is also removed. Next, the nucleus of the somatic cell is inserted into the egg cells nucleus place. After the insertion, the host cell reprograms the somatic cell nucleus. The egg will begin to divide. Lastly, after many mitotic divisions the single cell can form a blastocyst with closely identical DNA to the original organism (SCNT).
