Binyon For The Fallen
For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon is a third person tribute to the British men killed in action. Written
following the Battles of Mons and Marne, the first heavy fighting of the war by the British, this poem
deals largely with the finality of death for the men who fought at these battles who no longer will
enjoy friends and will never grow old as their surviving comrades do and those who did not fight do.
It describes soldiers as sons of England and recognizes their sacrifices as acts of martyrdom that the
survivors of war and those at home are not to forget. In its final two stanzas it recognizes their place
among the stars, beings that will never truly be gone.
2) In this poem, Binyon is trying to say that there is a justification and glory in the death and that these
young men who gave their lives have not died in vain, but in the cause of the free . He also insists that
despite the fact they may not enjoy their worldly lives anymore, they serve forever as a light to guide
England through the war.
3) Binyon personifies England as the mother to the dead soldiers her children, as well as parallel
structures particularly in the fifth stanza. He repeats They in reference to the ... Show more content on

The references to soldiers as spirit of her spirit , her referring to England, suggests that these soldiers
and their deaths are a source of great pride to the motherland. This perspective is one that would have
been peddled mostly by domestic supporters of the war and propaganda offices as it is very
inspirational and ideal, creating an image of death that would not scare soldiers away from enlistment.
It is an account much more typical of someone who was not a soldier during the war as it features no
references to violence and isn t cynical in nature, and ignores that survivors of these two battles had
already begun to suffer from forms of PTSD(Gilbert CH.

Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of
American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on
April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an
only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager,
had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising
interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his career on a new
idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became one of the most
famous musicians in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he had many friends he never really told them everything about himself. He would often
guard his privacy probably because he had so little of it. When he was alone though, he would almost
always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or preparing
something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians
to join his band.
Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate
without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about
Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the
inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big
hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter Whetsol and the
saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist Hodges became the
highest paid performer in the United States.
The 1920 s became known as quot;the Jazz Age quot; because jazz had hit its first great burst of
popularity. At that time Duke then added a young drummer named
Sonny Greer. A few years after Greer was hired, Duke s band hit a very

Using Kalman Filter Is Digital Signal Processing Based Filter
2.4 VIDEO DENOISING
Nowadays digital cameras which is used to capture images and videos are storing it directly in digital
form. But this digital data ie. images or videos are corrupted by various types of noises. It may cause
due to some disturbances or may be impulse noise. To suppress noise and improve the image
performances we use image processing schemes. In this paper they uses Kalman filter to remove the
impulse noise. The Kalman filter is digital signal processing based filter. It estimates three states past,
present and future of a system.[10] To remove noise from video sequences they utilize both temporal
and spatial information. In the temporal domain, by collecting neighbouring frames based on
similarities of all images, to remove noise from a video tracking sequence they given a low rank
matrix recovery phenomena. [11]

3.2 Bilateral De noising
3.1 WAVELENGTH DENOISING
Basically a wavelet is small wave, which has its energy concentrated in time to give a tool for the
analysis time varying phenomena. It is easier to remove noise from a contaminated 1D or 2D data
using these algorithms to eliminate the small coefficient associated to the noise. In many signals,
mostly concentration of energy is in a small number of dimensions and the coefficients of these
dimensions are relatively large compared to other dimensions (noise) that has its energy spread over a
large number of coefficients. In wavelet thresholding

Carolina Panthers Essay
The Carolina Panthers had to come out of the locker room after the first half needing to get something
going if they were going to come back and beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. The first half
was dominated by the defense. Whose defense would be able to hold out for the rest of the game
would determine who would win the Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos defense king in Super Bowl 50
The first play was a run, which again, like in the first half, Denver shut down. However, the next play
Cam Newton hit Ted Ginn for 45 yards. Ginn began to be Newton s go to player. However, While the
pass started to work for Carolina, it was not enough to get them a touchdown and the Panthers
attempted a 44 yard field goal. However Graham Gano, the Panthers ... Show more content on

On a first down pass, a penalty on the Panthers gave Denver an additional 15 yards. However,
Manning s arm was hit on the next play as he attempted a pass and Carolina recovered the ball on the
50 yard line. The Panther offense could not capitalize on the turnover and were forced to settle for a
39 yard field goal by Gano. This time it was good, and it inched the Panthers closer to Denver, but
they still trailed the Broncos 16 10.
As time ticked away in the fourth quarter, the Denver Broncos started working on running the clock
down. They ran the ball as much as they could then would punt the ball down the field and count on
the Broncos defense to keep Cam Newton from getting the Panther offense going. And it worked. Von
Miller, who was so big for Denver s defense in the first half, caused Newton to fumble and the
Broncos recovered the ball on the four yard line.
After a defensive hold call against Carolina, Denver s C.J. Anderson fought his way into the end zone
for Denver s first offensive touchdown of the game. This gave Denver a 24 10 lead after a successful
two point conversion. That made things tough for Carolina, with just over three minutes left and
trailing by 14 points, Cam Newton had a big, almost impossible task in front of

The, Gone Home, And The Video Game
During the readings and observations of the articles from Mahiri/Sablo, and the video game Gone

communicating and associating with people who come from our/different discourse communities and
backgrounds. Both articles explain the cultural meaning of literacy and voluntary writing their way for
others like myself to correlate and understand. The two African Americans (Troy and Keisha)
developed their literacy skills to incorporate their ways of how they feel and talk about specific
reasoning and situations. The game gone home provides skills such as text, language and verbal

appealing and provide an importance for writing and communication with people who in their

we decide to come to the terms of accepting how they interact with others in their own way, Our

The Global Impact Of The National Basketball Association
Introduction to NBA
The National Basketball Association is the premier most professional basketball league in America, it
is formed by 30 franchised member clubs spread in 29 countries inside the U.S and one in Canada.
The NBA is also part of USA Basketball which is part of FIBA or International Basketball Federation.
Going back to its beginnings, the league was first founded in 1946, New York City, and at first it was
called the Basketball Association of America (BAA), but later on the leagues name was changed to
NBA(National Basketball Association) after merging with NBL(National Basketball League).
Creation and development of NBA
Third of August, 1949, after many years of battle, the two rival leagues of basketball called BAA

The Global Impact of the NBA
When it comes to the global impact of the NBA, I think that media and technology are the biggest
factors, and the main reason I say this is that because of technology people around the world can get
information s, updates and news on NBA at any time, can watch NBA games live and highlights. So
we can say that NBA s impact on the world would be considered minimal if it were not up to the
technology and advanced techniques that are being used more and more these days.
A perfect example of this, perhaps more than any other in the global impact of the NBA is the former
Chinese big man Yao Ming. Ming was a former basketball player who played for the Houston
Rockets, previously first steps to his basketball career were at the Shanghai Sharks of Chinese
basketball of association. A former first pick(first round) he went down to history as one of the best
centers to ever play and because of him the cooperation between countries is another impact that the

The Mass Medi The Failure Of The Mass Media
The general population consists of seven billion people across the earth. The majority of the
individuals partake in receiving knowledge from those whose job it is to relay pertinent day to day
information to the general public. This minority is known as the mass media, and it is much larger
than simply journalism. The mass media is the newspaper, television, Video games, novels, textbooks,
and social media. Essentially any medium that is consumed excessively by the majority public is
known as a mass media. The most important of the mass media s is journalism and reporting; the
relaying of information from the reporters to the population. For years, controversy was a serious part
of the debate for what could not be shown, what could be, how far journalists are allowed to go to get
their information. Then, the SPJ: Code of Ethics emerged, giving guidelines for journalists and
reporters on how to seize, utilize, and properly report on subjects at hand. However, journalists and
reporters time and time again have deserted their code of conduct. For instance, the New Republic s
Stephen Glass did this via bypassing fact checkers and creating fictitious news stories. This led to the
downfall of the New Republic s reputation, along with ending the career of Stephen Glass. Though the
exact same is not being done with reporting politics, their use of power has become an arbitrary
system, where they decide what suits their own political standing and showing the information in such

D) There is generally no option to continue the lease at a rent lower than market value.
E) There is no arrangement such that the risks and liabilities involved with the ownership of the asset
would be transferred to the Lessee.
From the above classification we can see that all the points indicate that the leases undertaken by
David Jones Ltd as a Lessee are Operating Leases or Finance leases and can be determined using the
steps above. Being such a big company, David Jones Ltd has both Operating and Financial leases and
they are taken mainly to run the firm s stores and warehouses. Under the annual report for the half
year ended 2013 it is clearly evident that the cost of leasing activities for David Jones Ltd has
increased by 4.17mn. Payments made under operating leases, where the lease agreement includes
predetermined fixed rate increases, are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income on a
straight line basis over the term of the lease. Other operating lease payments are expensed as incurred.
Lease incentives received are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income as an integral
part of the total lease expense and spread over the lease term.
Treatment of Leases

Genetics And Genomics Case Study
Genetics and Genomics
1. Identify a genetic disease or disorder.
Stroke is often related to other genetic diseases or disorders. Stroke occurs by blood flow being
interrupted to the brain by either a clot or a bleed on the brain. The brain cells die quickly if blood
flow is blocked (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, 2016a). Ischemic stroke occurs when
blood flow is blocked by clots or particles (CDC, 2016a). Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when the brain
has a bleed from blood vessels bursting (CDC, 2016a). Stroke can leave individuals with deficits and
dependent on others for care. Stroke can cause death.

Going to the hospital as soon as signs or symptoms is notice is the key to stroke treatment (CDC,
2017). Tissue plasminogen activator (TPA) can be used for ischemic stroke if arrival to the hospital is
within three hours of the first symptoms. Medicine, surgery, and rehabilitation can also be used for
treatment of stroke (CDC, 2017).
5. What are the causes or risk factors related to this disease or disorder?
Risk factors for having a stroke is often related to underlying diseases or disorders. High blood
pressure, elevated cholesterol, heart disorders, diabetes, prior stroke, and sickle cell disease are risk
factors for a stroke (CDC, 2017b). Lifestyle choices such as unhealthy diet, obesity, physical
inactivity, tobacco, and too much alcohol can also increase the risk for having a stroke (CDC, 2017a).
Genes passed on from family members, genetic disorders, age, sex, race, and ethnicity can also
increase the risk for stroke (CDC, 2016b).
6. Who is most commonly affected by this disease or disorder?
All races, ethnicity, and sex are susceptible to strokes. African Americans are at greater risk for stroke.

The And The Modern Education System
If the body and the mind are considered as a unity, it would be unwise to ignore the importance of the
body. However, that is exactly the case with the modern education system. To prepare their students
for tomorrow s world, many schools and teachers try to develop students minds by increasing the
required course work and the amount of standardized tests. However, they worsen a student s body
condition by depriving him/her of the time to play and exercise. In The Play Deficit, the Dr. Gray
believes that the decline in opportunity to play has been accompanied by a decline in empathy and a
rise in narcissism (Gray). Playing is a physical experience that develops the body and the mental
capacity to understand other people. The lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Physical education enhances the mind through giving students a healthier body, but many schools
have overlooked this fact. Carlson s and Gray s ideas are also well connected to the concept of
mindful learning. In Mindful Learning, Langer discusses how applying mindfulness to learning
processes can free our brains from forming a mindset that limits our ideas. We can justify Dr. Gray s
argument using the ideas of mindful learning. Dr. Gray believes that playing is learning, as children
can learn many life lessons when they are enjoying their time. Langer explains mindful learning by
suggesting that tasks are inherently good or bad. To get through the bad ones, we should look forward
to the good ones, or perhaps add a little sugar to help the medicine go down (222). If having fun is the
good task, and learning academic lessons is the bad task, then playing is exactly the sugar that helps
the learning process. When people are doing what they like, engagement in these tasks leads to
mindful learning. In addition to Gray s ideas, we can also see how Carlson s argument is closely
related to mindful learning. Carlson suggests that lack of exercise can lead to passive experience in
learning. Meanwhile, Langer suggests that, contrary to mindfulness, the process of mindless learning
occurs in passive learning as

Throughout the entire animation film, there is no direct expectation of what is happening. Daffy and
the anonymous animator have this very lucrative but interesting interaction between one another that
is hard to distinguish. Even though Daffy is the only character on screen and that his reactions are
what make the comedy possible, the animator persistently changes creative perspective. At one stage,
the animator draws Daffy with a guitar, we then expect to hear the guitar playing. But at first, no
sound is heard when he strikes a chord. Daffy then holds up a sign asking Sound please , shortly after,
we hear a variation of distant sounds that start again, whenever he plays a chord. At first, with a
machine gun, then a horn and finally the sound of a donkey when Daffy strikes the guitar into the
ground in frustration. To make matters worse, the animator goes on to take away Daffy s voice when
he comes back on screen after clearing away the guitar. His voice, now replaced with animal sounds
that Daffy gets embarrassed and distraught over. It is fantastic to see artistic variation between form,
prop and even an anonymous force, but all of this could not compliment each other without the sound
to intensify the moment. (Understanding Animation page 40

The Rise Of The Melodrama
The Rise of the Melodrama in the 19th Century
In the nineteenth century, many movements arose in the field of theatre both in the United States and
in Europe. Some of the movements that took place in the west together with the melodrama includes
the plays o naturalism, Romanticism, well made plays of scribes and Sardou, Wilde s drawing room
comedies, symbolism and the farces of Feydeau as depicted in the late works of Henrik Ibsen.
Melodrama is a collective name to refer to open group of films that the majority of reviewers refers to
as romance, thrillers, and drama. The melodrama as a source of entertainment is believed to have
spread rapidly in the nineteenth century due to the growth of industrial revolution and urban
development (McHugh 41). It is important to note that this genre is multi disciplinary in its nature as it
accepts elements from another category of films, hence the open name category. Therefore,
melodrama is one of the widely most appreciated and has attracted the interest of many reviewers
since the nineteenth century, hence the rapid rise.
The movies under this category have attracted the attention of many reviewers because of some
reasons. The films are widely appreciated because of their wider exposition of culture as well as
sophisticated and rich subject matter. The show of culture and emotional expression that the movie
contains has drastically changed the description of the category from action films to relationship film.
Additionally, the movies

Foster points out that the weather plays a critical role in a work of literature. Whether it be for plot
development or for a democratic reason, rain, snow, or fog plays a significant role in literature. In
general, rain can bring about enlightenment and restoration, and snow can bring abstract thought.
What an author does with rain, snow, or fog in the novel can signify a change in character or parallel
the atmosphere or what is happening in the novel. For much of A Thousand Splendid Suns, the
characters must withstand a drought. However, when there was a snowfall during the winter of 1992,

Why I Should Do Or Should I Not
Two things kept going back and forth in my head, should I do or should I not. As walked to my car
from work, I kept starring at my phone thinking an answer would appear on the screen. Then I sat in

for it. On my way there, I was wondering how on earth will I be able to pull this off without my
mother s permission and maybe that was why a thirty minute car ride somehow felt like five.
Finally, I pulled my car into a gravel path and hoped for the best as I walked into the building
nervously. But as I walked closer to the front desk, I felt a sense of ease and I remembered my whole
purpose of being there. Then receptionist asked me, Can I help you? and in returned I said I am here
for Pup Pup. As I following the nice lady to the back, there was huge difference from the waiting room
to where placed the rest of them. The moment I stepped foot behind there, this disgusting odor
instantly hit me and all I heard was something screeching against the medal fences. Not the mention
the atmosphere was awfully unsettling and I couldn t bare to think how these animals live in this

Hurricane Katrina Problems
Natural disasters are devastating and affect everyone where they hit, but they particularly affect racial
minorities and those who fall below the poverty line. Without resources or money to rebuild, the
impoverished and minorities are forced to figure out their own plan to recover from the natural
disaster. Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Louisiana and caused a myriad of issues with its
residents. Some of the problems the impoverished and minorities faced were: evacuating New
Orleans, homelessness, rebuilding, and unjust treatment from the government. Natural disasters,
specifically Hurricane Katrina, cause a socioeconomic dichotomy between the lower class and the
upper and leave the population in a state of pandemonium, and trying to figure out ways to recover.
Before the Storm In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans in Louisiana. Most of
the city s population suffered some sort of loss whether it was a fatality, loss of property, or a lack of
resources or money to rebuild. However, each social class and race did not suffer the same losses; the
underprivileged and racial minorities suffered much greater losses than those who had the resources or
money to evacuate (Bates 5). The evacuation system set in place by the Louisiana government was
almost nonexistent. The plan was for the population of New Orleans to try evacuating the city before
Katrina hit. The upper class had the money and means of transportation to leave the city and enter

In Jackson S The Lottery, Custom And Tradition...
In Jackson s The Lottery, custom and tradition institutionalize atrocious acts. In the story the setting is
a small, what looks to be an inspiring community with a population of around three hundred people.
Jackson paints a picture of a community where he said, flowers were blossoming profusely and the
grass was richly green. (1) . Jackson wants the audience to believe that the community was ordinary
and innocent, but ends with a dramatic and unnecessary stoning. It leaves the readers stunned, but
Religious Persecution happens all over the world in the most remote place and right in our back yards,

The color of the box even symbolizes the hate evil. The three legged stool that the black box sits upon
represents the Trinity. Each segment represents God the father, God the son, and the Holy Spirit. The
wooden stool that the black box of evil sits upon, is ironic because the Trinity represents purity and
perfectness, but the black box of death represents sin and evil. This is very important because they are
trying to justify their stoning with religion to support the violence that will be committed, thinking that
it s is justifiable to stone someone to death because of religious views or ideas, and that God would be
ok with the community sacrificing innocent people. Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and
lost the original black box, they still remembered to use stones. (123) This quote show that the
community was willing to forget a little from the past, but not the crude stoning of another human
being. The townspeople seem to get some sort of sick pleasure from the stoning. Bobby Martin had
already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys soon followed his example, selecting the

When Grizzlies Walked Up Right Analysis
In this paper I will be making an analysis essay about the Native American myth When Grizzlies
Walked up Right. The theme of the story is the creation of new creatures and origins of the first
Indians. Also I will be going into a little bit more detail about most of the characters in the short story.
Almost everyone has a thought on how their origins but the people of the Modoc tribe believe they
have a close relation to bears. It all started with the chief of the sky spirits, the story claims that the
chief of the sky spirits was not comfortable, living up in the sky. Do to that fact the chief decided to
come down to earth so he created a mountain for him and his family could live. His family consisted
of his wife and their children but we are going to focus on the youngest as she becomes a huge
character later on. But as the chief is coming down his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the Chief was coming down his mountain creating trees here and there along the mountains side,
he made birds from the leaves that came from the trees and then created many more animals from the
end of his stick the biggest being the grizzly bear. According to the Native American myth the bears
were at first made to walk on two feet and talk like humans but later on cursed by the chief of the sky
spirits so they would have to walk on all four feet and could never talk again. That all came to happen
because of a simple mistake from the youngest daughter of the chief. The daughter was sent up the
mountain by her father to handle something it was a very windy day and she got blown off the
mountain later on being found by a bear who was hunting and they brought her back not knowing who
she belonged to and raised her as their own. Later on the young girl would end up marring one of the
grizzlies and after that the two would end up creating a new kind of creature,

Comparing the Application of Integrated Marketing...
During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications
(IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has
continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000;
Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and
Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). As the marketplace has become more fragmented
over the years, organizations have embraced IMC as a means to effectively and efficiently target and
attract the splintering mass market through the transmission of a unified message across all contact
points between organizations and their consumers. Whether the ... Show more content on

For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g.,
support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the
offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is
the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response
tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity
among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales
promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the
position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which
ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales
promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate
the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising,
and public relations) in

Erich Fromm Escape From Freedom Analysis
Release From The Chains of Own Captivity The chains of captivity are the decisions that clash with
our own freedom and keep people captive with no way out. There are cases that need to be
understanded to be able to obtain freedom and be released from captivity from themselves or an
outside authority which philosopher Erich Fromm explains. Erich Fromm was a Jewish German social
psychologist and philosopher, and also a writer notable for his social and political commentary as for
his philosophical and psychological underpinnings. In Escape from Freedom one of his important
work, Fromm uses the insights of psychoanalysis to analyze the illness of a concurrent civilization as
witnessing its willingness to give up their freedom. According to his book, man cannot live with the
responsibilities inherent by freedom so humanity will probably turn to a greater power or authority to
lessen the constraint. Fromm distinguishes the difference between positive freedom and negative
freedom. His philosophy focuses positive freedom being a possession of the capacity to act upon one s
free will, as opposed to negative freedom where freedom is interfered by other people or a institution.
To confirm Fromm s philosophy there are modern societies that have willingly given up their own
freedom to be able to follow and be blinded by the words promised to a whole society by a higher
authority. To understand why people would willingly give their freedom first there needs to be

Care For Health Campaign Essay
The care for health campaign was the first family planning promotion to be done in Russia and it
helped increase the use of modern contraceptives by 12%. It was part of the women´s reproductive
health program (WRHP) which involved training of health care providers, advocacy and research.
This intervention resulted in increase in family planning counselling for women, longer continuation
rates of contraceptives and increase in clinic attendance for family planning in the intervention areas.
This program was birthed in 1994 by the US Agency for international development to improve the
health of children and women by promoting the change in the current family planning communication

The objectives of a campaign should resonate with the strategy (Myanmar, 2013). This is the point
where one asks questions such as what do I need to do to achieve the overall goal of the campaign? In
this case, one of the campaign objectives was to increase knowledge and positive attitudes towards
modern contraceptives. In so doing, the campaign would be meeting the overall strategy which was to
bring family planning to the public arena and to highlight its importance.
Choosing an age bracket is also essential as one is able to seclude the target audience in order to make
the campaign strategy more effective. The age bracket for women chosen was 18 30. This was also an
appropriate age since it is the prime age for reproduction.
One of the activities done was to disseminate the family planning message through national television.
The airtime was donated by the prime minister then. This was effective as the message reached
women throughout Russia and the neighboring countries. The campaign also used a disco event to
promote family planning communication.

if only every leader could understand that s what 360 degree leader does and is, they would stop
complaining about where they are and be content with the impact they have because of who they are.
Maxwell says, The true measure of leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less (Maxwell 4)
In section 2, Maxwell discusses the challenges 360 degree leaders face. The first challenge a 360
degree leader faces is the tension challenge or the pressure of being caught in the middle. The way the
tension impacts a leader Maxwell says, is affected by five factors. The first being how much authority
and responsibility we are given as a leader. Secondly how well we balance not stepping over our
boundaries, also what is the leadership DNA of the organization and leader. This is how well you
know your job and how well you do it. Lastly is appreciation, can you live without the credit. Maxwell
says, The key to succeeding is to learn to deal with the tension of whatever position you are in,
overcome its obstacles, and make the most of its advantages and opportunities. (Maxwell 33)
Challenge number two Maxwell discusses is the frustration challenge, or following an ineffective
leader. We often think it is our job to fix insufficient leaders in order to make them successful.
Maxwell helps the reader realize that it is better to lead from the middle, than to be

President Reagan And The President Of The United States
In 1981, a self proclaimed Washington outsider took the oath as President of the United
States of America. The country anxiously awaited to see if Ronald Reagan could keep the
promises he made during the campaign trail; some of the promises he made were, to appoint
the first female Supreme Court Justice and to change the ideology of the court. Reagan, a
staunch republican hoped to sway the court right for the first time in decades. While, he was
able to sway the court, complications from a democratic senate and a lame duck presidency
forced him to place only one true conservative and two moderate judges leaving a more
moderate than Reagan promised.
When Ronald Reagan took his first oath in January of 1981, there was the potential to replace
five justices who were all over the age of 70. He actually placed only three and elevated one the
opportunity to swing the court to the conservative side may have caused both the public and the
senate to look more closely at the nominations, impeding the president s goals. The shift right
should have been an easy accomplishment when Justice Potter Stewart stepped down, Stewart
was often considered a swing justice. Even more promising was the retirement of Lewis
Powell, who was often considered the most influential member of the court; often the deciding
vote in many significant cases.
During the 1980 campaign trail, president hopeful, Ronald Reagan pledged he would

Characteristics Of Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Narcissism is one of the most common disorders, known to scientists as the most heritable personality
disorder in humans (Thomaes, et al ). It affects temperament, an individual s nature pertaining to their
permanent behavior, which can be affected through inheritance and their surroundings. In humans, the
earliest stages in life affect the development of temperament the most, according to Thomaes et al ( ).
It is also understood that the culture and atmosphere surrounding a human affects the maturation of
narcissistic tendencies (handbook ). Thus, when a child evolves into an adult narcissist it can be
inferred that at least one of their parents also displayed characteristics of narcissistic personality
disorder. The wide range of self absorbed mannerisms includes holding extravagant and unstable
views of oneself, a need to seek self validation from others, infidelity, and often addictions (Thomaes
et al ). A narcissist can be covert, a self absorbed introvert that often experiences shame and similar
emotions, or overt, a selfish extravert that blocks negativity through aggressive anger (Soyer et al ).
In Wuthering Heights, four children grow up to be narcissists in a very extreme matter. The father, Mr.
Earnshaw never displays any of these characteristics in the novel. With no concern for himself, he
picks up an orphan off the streets in Heathcliff, and brings him into his home despite the protests of
his family members (Bronte ). A narcissist would never do something so

The Importance Of Animal Communication
Ever since the scientific community came to the conclusion that animals can communicate, new
questions on the function of animal signals arouse. Scientists wondered whether when animals
communicate they do it in order to manipulate one another or to inform each other. Through extensive
research over the years, scientist continue to be divided; many believe that the function of the animal
signals is simply to manipulate while others believe that when animals communicate, they do it in
order to inform. In reality, both sides of the argument are correct as communication without
manipulation or information would be pointless.
One of the functions of animal communication is to inform. As Jack P. Hailman (2008) states,
Communication is fundamentally a stand for process for transferring information from a sender to a
receiver. Hailman uses this to propose that animals transfer information when they communicate.
Similarly Owings, D. H. and E. S Morton (1998) quote from Green and Marler (1979, p.73),
Communication consists of the transmission of information from one animal to another. Information is
encoded by one individual into a signal. When received by another animal, this information undergoes
decoding, while still retaining a specifiable relationship to the encoded information. In their definition,
Green and Marled include the undergoing of decoding to Shannon s basic model of communication
diagram which only mentions a sender sending a signal to a receiver through a

A Comparison Of The PoeThe Raven By Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe was one of the most important and influential American writers of the 19th century.
He was the very first author to make a professional living as an author. Poe is famous for his tales and
poems of horror and mystery, including The Raven . Much of Poe s work was inspired by the events
that happened around him. Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven is a dark reflection on lost love, death, and
loss of hope. The poem examines the emotions of a young man who has lost his lover to death and
tries to distract himself from his sadness through books. Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston
Massachusetts, on January 19, 1809 (Poe s Biography). Poe never really knew his parents, Elizabeth
Arnold Poe and David Poe Jr. His parents were both actors, his mother was a British actor and his
father was an actor straight out of Boston (Poe s Biography). Eliza Arnold was an actress who was
born into a lesser known British family of thespians (Schoell 13). Eliza Arnold and her family
migrated to Boston, were she continued her craft. At the early age of eighteen years old, while
performing in Richmond, she met a fellow actor by the name of David Poe (Schoell 13). The couple
was cast in several plays together as love interest and real love soon immerged. They married in 1806

A Report On Bird Feeder Division Essay
The following report for MDE bird feeder division includes the classification of costs such as product
costs, period costs, fixed costs, and variable costs. This report also includes a cost volume profit
analysis to determine contribution margin as well as the breakeven point for this company. A budgeted
model is also included to show actual activity and is compared to the flexible budget. Budgeting
process, budget variances and the recommendation to use the activity based costing system will also
be discussed. The above will allow for a quantitative analysis, which will include areas that need
improving along with recommendations for this company.
When conducting an analysis is important to classify costs. Product costs are costs that are assigned to
a product for a specific purpose. These costs are associated directly in the making of a specific
product. The bird feeder division has the following product costs: material cedar, material plastic,
factory worker labor, materials indirect, factory depreciation, factory utilities, and factory maintenance
and repairs. Period costs are all costs in the income statement other than cost of goods sold. These
costs are usually associated with the selling function of the business. The bird feeder division has the
following period costs: shipping, sales commissions, office rent, advertising, liability insurance, office
depreciation, and office salaries. After determining if costs are either product or period costs it is

  • 2. Binyon For The Fallen For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon is a third person tribute to the British men killed in action. Written following the Battles of Mons and Marne, the first heavy fighting of the war by the British, this poem deals largely with the finality of death for the men who fought at these battles who no longer will enjoy friends and will never grow old as their surviving comrades do and those who did not fight do. It describes soldiers as sons of England and recognizes their sacrifices as acts of martyrdom that the survivors of war and those at home are not to forget. In its final two stanzas it recognizes their place among the stars, beings that will never truly be gone. 2) In this poem, Binyon is trying to say that there is a justification and glory in the death and that these young men who gave their lives have not died in vain, but in the cause of the free . He also insists that despite the fact they may not enjoy their worldly lives anymore, they serve forever as a light to guide England through the war. 3) Binyon personifies England as the mother to the dead soldiers her children, as well as parallel structures particularly in the fifth stanza. He repeats They in reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The references to soldiers as spirit of her spirit , her referring to England, suggests that these soldiers and their deaths are a source of great pride to the motherland. This perspective is one that would have been peddled mostly by domestic supporters of the war and propaganda offices as it is very inspirational and ideal, creating an image of death that would not scare soldiers away from enlistment. It is an account much more typical of someone who was not a soldier during the war as it features no references to violence and isn t cynical in nature, and ignores that survivors of these two battles had already begun to suffer from forms of PTSD(Gilbert CH. ... • 4. Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his career on a new idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became one of the most famous musicians in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he had many friends he never really told them everything about himself. He would often guard his privacy probably because he had so little of it. When he was alone though, he would almost always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or preparing something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians to join his band. Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter Whetsol and the saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist Hodges became the highest paid performer in the United States. The 1920 s became known as quot;the Jazz Age quot; because jazz had hit its first great burst of popularity. At that time Duke then added a young drummer named Sonny Greer. A few years after Greer was hired, Duke s band hit a very rough ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Using Kalman Filter Is Digital Signal Processing Based Filter 2.4 VIDEO DENOISING Nowadays digital cameras which is used to capture images and videos are storing it directly in digital form. But this digital data ie. images or videos are corrupted by various types of noises. It may cause due to some disturbances or may be impulse noise. To suppress noise and improve the image performances we use image processing schemes. In this paper they uses Kalman filter to remove the impulse noise. The Kalman filter is digital signal processing based filter. The first half was dominated by the defense. Whose defense would be able to hold out for the rest of the game would determine who would win the Super Bowl. Denver Broncos defense king in Super Bowl 50 The first play was a run, which again, like in the first half, Denver shut down. However, the next play Cam Newton hit Ted Ginn for 45 yards. However, Manning s arm was hit on the next play as he attempted a pass and Carolina recovered the ball on the 50 yard line. The Panther offense could not capitalize on the turnover and were forced to settle for a 39 yard field goal by Gano. This time it was good, and it inched the Panthers closer to Denver, but they still trailed the Broncos 16 10. As time ticked away in the fourth quarter, the Denver Broncos started working on running the clock down. They ran the ball as much as they could then would punt the ball down the field and count on the Broncos defense to keep Cam Newton from getting the Panther offense going. And it worked. Von Miller, who was so big for Denver s defense in the first half, caused Newton to fumble and the Broncos recovered the ball on the four yard line. After a defensive hold call against Carolina, Denver s C.J. Anderson fought his way into the end zone for Denver s first offensive touchdown of the game. This gave Denver a 24 10 lead after a successful two point conversion. So we can say that NBA s impact on the world would be considered minimal if it were not up to the technology and advanced techniques that are being used more and more these days. The majority of the individuals partake in receiving knowledge from those whose job it is to relay pertinent day to day information to the general public. This minority is known as the mass media, and it is much larger than simply journalism. The mass media is the newspaper, television, Video games, novels, textbooks, and social media. Essentially any medium that is consumed excessively by the majority public is known as a mass media. The most important of the mass media s is journalism and reporting; the relaying of information from the reporters to the population. For years, controversy was a serious part of the debate for what could not be shown, what could be, how far journalists are allowed to go to get their information. Then, the SPJ: Code of Ethics emerged, giving guidelines for journalists and reporters on how to seize, utilize, and properly report on subjects at hand. However, journalists and reporters time and time again have deserted their code of conduct. For instance, the New Republic s Stephen Glass did this via bypassing fact checkers and creating fictitious news stories. This led to the downfall of the New Republic s reputation, along with ending the career of Stephen Glass. Though the exact same is not being done with reporting politics, their use of power has become an arbitrary system, where they decide what suits their own political standing and showing the information in such a ... Carlson s and Gray s ideas are also well connected to the concept of mindful learning. In Mindful Learning, Langer discusses how applying mindfulness to learning processes can free our brains from forming a mindset that limits our ideas. We can justify Dr. Gray s argument using the ideas of mindful learning. Dr. Gray believes that playing is learning, as children can learn many life lessons when they are enjoying their time. Langer explains mindful learning by suggesting that tasks are inherently good or bad. To get through the bad ones, we should look forward to the good ones, or perhaps add a little sugar to help the medicine go down (222). If having fun is the good task, and learning academic lessons is the bad task, then playing is exactly the sugar that helps the learning process. When people are doing what they like, engagement in these tasks leads to mindful learning. In addition to Gray s ideas, we can also see how Carlson s argument is closely related to mindful learning. Carlson suggests that lack of exercise can lead to passive experience in learning. At one stage, the animator draws Daffy with a guitar, we then expect to hear the guitar playing. But at first, no sound is heard when he strikes a chord. Daffy then holds up a sign asking Sound please , shortly after, we hear a variation of distant sounds that start again, whenever he plays a chord. At first, with a machine gun, then a horn and finally the sound of a donkey when Daffy strikes the guitar into the ground in frustration. To make matters worse, the animator goes on to take away Daffy s voice when he comes back on screen after clearing away the guitar. • 17. The Rise Of The Melodrama The Rise of the Melodrama in the 19th Century In the nineteenth century, many movements arose in the field of theatre both in the United States and in Europe. Some of the movements that took place in the west together with the melodrama includes the plays o naturalism, Romanticism, well made plays of scribes and Sardou, Wilde s drawing room comedies, symbolism and the farces of Feydeau as depicted in the late works of Henrik Ibsen. Melodrama is a collective name to refer to open group of films that the majority of reviewers refers to as romance, thrillers, and drama. The melodrama as a source of entertainment is believed to have spread rapidly in the nineteenth century due to the growth of industrial revolution and urban development (McHugh 41). It is important to note that this genre is multi disciplinary in its nature as it accepts elements from another category of films, hence the open name category. Therefore, melodrama is one of the widely most appreciated and has attracted the interest of many reviewers since the nineteenth century, hence the rapid rise. The movies under this category have attracted the attention of many reviewers because of some reasons. • 30. Comparing the Application of Integrated Marketing... During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications (IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000; Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g., support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising, and public relations) in ... • 31. Erich Fromm Escape From Freedom Analysis Release From The Chains of Own Captivity The chains of captivity are the decisions that clash with our own freedom and keep people captive with no way out. There are cases that need to be understanded to be able to obtain freedom and be released from captivity from themselves or an outside authority which philosopher Erich Fromm explains. Erich Fromm was a Jewish German social psychologist and philosopher, and also a writer notable for his social and political commentary as for his philosophical and psychological underpinnings. In Escape from Freedom one of his important work, Fromm uses the insights of psychoanalysis to analyze the illness of a concurrent civilization as witnessing its willingness to give up their freedom. According to his book, man cannot live with the responsibilities inherent by freedom so humanity will probably turn to a greater power or authority to lessen the constraint. Fromm distinguishes the difference between positive freedom and negative freedom. His philosophy focuses positive freedom being a possession of the capacity to act upon one s free will, as opposed to negative freedom where freedom is interfered by other people or a institution. To confirm Fromm s philosophy there are modern societies that have willingly given up their own freedom to be able to follow and be blinded by the words promised to a whole society by a higher authority. To understand why people would willingly give their freedom first there needs to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is the point where one asks questions such as what do I need to do to achieve the overall goal of the campaign? In this case, one of the campaign objectives was to increase knowledge and positive attitudes towards modern contraceptives. In so doing, the campaign would be meeting the overall strategy which was to bring family planning to the public arena and to highlight its importance. Choosing an age bracket is also essential as one is able to seclude the target audience in order to make the campaign strategy more effective. The age bracket for women chosen was 18 30. This was also an appropriate age since it is the prime age for reproduction. One of the activities done was to disseminate the family planning message through national television. The airtime was donated by the prime minister then. This was effective as the message reached women throughout Russia and the neighboring countries. The campaign also used a disco event to promote family planning communication. The first challenge a 360 degree leader faces is the tension challenge or the pressure of being caught in the middle. The way the tension impacts a leader Maxwell says, is affected by five factors. The first being how much authority and responsibility we are given as a leader. Secondly how well we balance not stepping over our boundaries, also what is the leadership DNA of the organization and leader. This is how well you know your job and how well you do it. Lastly is appreciation, can you live without the credit. Maxwell says, The key to succeeding is to learn to deal with the tension of whatever position you are in, overcome its obstacles, and make the most of its advantages and opportunities. (Maxwell 33) Challenge number two Maxwell discusses is the frustration challenge, or following an ineffective leader. We often think it is our job to fix insufficient leaders in order to make them successful. Maxwell helps the reader realize that it is better to lead from the middle, than to be ... • 34. President Reagan And The President Of The United States In 1981, a self proclaimed Washington outsider took the oath as President of the United States of America. The country anxiously awaited to see if Ronald Reagan could keep the promises he made during the campaign trail; some of the promises he made were, to appoint the first female Supreme Court Justice and to change the ideology of the court. Reagan, a staunch republican hoped to sway the court right for the first time in decades. While, he was able to sway the court, complications from a democratic senate and a lame duck presidency forced him to place only one true conservative and two moderate judges leaving a more moderate than Reagan promised. When Ronald Reagan took his first oath in January of 1981, there was the potential to replace five justices who were all over the age of 70. He actually placed only three and elevated one the opportunity to swing the court to the conservative side may have caused both the public and the senate to look more closely at the nominations, impeding the president s goals. The shift right should have been an easy accomplishment when Justice Potter Stewart stepped down, Stewart was often considered a swing justice. Even more promising was the retirement of Lewis Powell, who was often considered the most influential member of the court; often the deciding vote in many significant cases. • 38. Characteristics Of Narcissistic Personality Disorder Narcissism is one of the most common disorders, known to scientists as the most heritable personality disorder in humans (Thomaes, et al ). It affects temperament, an individual s nature pertaining to their permanent behavior, which can be affected through inheritance and their surroundings. In humans, the earliest stages in life affect the development of temperament the most, according to Thomaes et al ( ). It is also understood that the culture and atmosphere surrounding a human affects the maturation of narcissistic tendencies (handbook ). Thus, when a child evolves into an adult narcissist it can be inferred that at least one of their parents also displayed characteristics of narcissistic personality disorder. The wide range of self absorbed mannerisms includes holding extravagant and unstable views of oneself, a need to seek self validation from others, infidelity, and often addictions (Thomaes et al ). A narcissist can be covert, a self absorbed introvert that often experiences shame and similar emotions, or overt, a selfish extravert that blocks negativity through aggressive anger (Soyer et al ). In Wuthering Heights, four children grow up to be narcissists in a very extreme matter. The father, Mr. Earnshaw never displays any of these characteristics in the novel. With no concern for himself, he picks up an orphan off the streets in Heathcliff, and brings him into his home despite the protests of his family members (Bronte ). • 39. The Importance Of Animal Communication Ever since the scientific community came to the conclusion that animals can communicate, new questions on the function of animal signals arouse. Scientists wondered whether when animals communicate they do it in order to manipulate one another or to inform each other. Through extensive research over the years, scientist continue to be divided; many believe that the function of the animal signals is simply to manipulate while others believe that when animals communicate, they do it in order to inform. In reality, both sides of the argument are correct as communication without manipulation or information would be pointless. One of the functions of animal communication is to inform. As Jack P. Hailman (2008) states, Communication is fundamentally a stand for process for transferring information from a sender to a receiver. Hailman uses this to propose that animals transfer information when they communicate. Similarly Owings, D. H. and E. S Morton (1998) quote from Green and Marler (1979, p.73), Communication consists of the transmission of information from one animal to another. Information is encoded by one individual into a signal. When received by another animal, this information undergoes decoding, while still retaining a specifiable relationship to the encoded information. In their definition, Green and Marled include the undergoing of decoding to Shannon s basic model of communication diagram which only mentions a sender sending a signal to a receiver through a ...
