ASSIGNMENT NO: 1
NAME: NOOR UN NISA
CLASS: BBA

SUBJECT: ISLAMIC STUDIES
TOPIC: THE HOLLY QURAN
TEACHER: MISS SUMBUL ANSAR.
The Quran: The Quran is the Muslim sacred writing, in other words the sacred text of the adherents of
Islam. Islam is the religion built up among the Arabs a people until the point when at that point to a
great extent restricted to the Arabian Peninsula by the Prophet Muhammad in the mid seventh century.
The Quran was uncovered to Prophet Muhammad by God through the organization of the heavenly
attendant Gabriel; this occurred halfway in Mecca, the place where he grew up, and somewhat in
Medina, where he prevailing with regards to making a state in a generally stateless tribal society. The
message was uncovered in Arabic, the dialect of the general population it was at first routed to, despite
the fact that the message was at last for the entire of mankind. The Quran particularly says that
Muhammad was the delivery person to the entire of humankind, and that he is the last courier to be
sent. Along these lines, the Quran is the last message that supersedes and repeats the fundamental
religion God appointed for the Jews and the Christians, and additionally the Muslims. Today, the
aggregate number of Muslims on the planet is over a billion, making up right around a fifth of the total
populace. For every single Muslim people group, whatever their dialect and

Dialogue And Film Distice In Trevor Nunn s Twelfth Night
People doing crazy things while they are in love is not a recently developed concept, in fact this
concept has been present in society for centuries. I bet even some of the people in this room right now
have done, or thought of doing something crazy or foolish to impress there crush. But because your
common senses kicked in, you made a choice not to do the crazy thing you thought of doing to make
sure your crush liked you and you were brought back into the real world. In today s society with all
the social media and Television programming it isn t uncommon for you to discover an instance where
a person has done something that would be considered crazy by most. In programs such as Catfish

Nunn uses similar dialogue and film discourse to construct the argument in the scene which was
analysed before. Malvolio is seen on his knee in front of Olivia in the beginning of the scene,
rereading lines from the forged letter in front of her whilst attempting to hold onto her. Meanwhile
Olivia tries to escape his madness but is unsuccessful as Malvolio still hangs onto her whilst
continuing to read to her in a happy and joyful tone. Nunn uses film discourse in this scene to position
the audience to think that Malvolio is a madman when Olivia says This is a midsummer madness. This
dialogue causes the audience to believe that Malvolio is crazy in love with Olivia and will continue to
do bizarre things for love. In the next shot, Nunn uses camera angles to show Malvolio blowing a kiss
to Olivia which reinforces Malvolio s ridiculousness in his attempts to woo Olivia. This idea is
exemplified through Nunn s use of music in the final shots of the scene where the music is silly and
further portrays Malvolio as a madman. Through Trevor Nunn s use of film discourse, he constructs
the argument that people will do bizarre things as a result of being in

Case Study Of Cranberry Juice
According to Mintel in 2017, Coca Cola, the parent company of Minute Maid, is first in sales of juice
with 17.2% of the market share. PepsiCo, which owns Tropicana, is second in sales with 12.5% of the
market share. Ocean Spray is fourth with 6.4% of the market share. Ocean Spray s considerable
market share in the cranberry juice category indicates that no other companies pose a significant
threat. Instead, Ocean Spray should focus on stimulating primary demand for cranberry juice as
opposed to other types of juice to compete with larger companies that offer a variety of juice products
such as orange juice, lemonade, etc. Although Minute Maid and Tropicana are not specifically in the
cranberry industry, they are Ocean Spray s biggest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Ocean Spray, they spend the most on Cable Television. The biggest takeaway from this
company is that they spend most of their ad spending capital on magazines, whereas Ocean Spray
eliminated that category all together (Redbooks, 2017). Moreover, Tropicana spends more than double
on advertising than that of Ocean Spray and Minute Maid. Tropicana spent around $64.5 million in
2015 and around $54 million in 2016. Similarly to Ocean Spray, they stopped spending money on
radio and newspaper advertising in 2016. Additionally, Tropicana also spends around $4 million
magazines which is similar to Minute Maid s approach (Redbooks, 2017).
Advertising Agencies: Ocean Spray v. Competitors
Ocean Spray, Minute Maid, and Tropicana all use large agencies to promote their products. According
to Redbooks, Ocean Spray is represented by Zenith, a company who provides them with Digital,
Media, Media Planning, Media Buying, and Social Media services. Minute Maid uses BBDO for its
Broadcasting, Digital, Print, Social, and Creative. And Tropicana combines services from three:
Ogilvy and Mather for print, Doner for Media Buying, and UM NY for Digital, Experiential, and
Social Media services (2017). All three juice companies likely owe a large portion of their popularity
and notability to these agencies.

Importance Of Nature In Poetry
In poetry, poets use nature as a reference to reveal something important and make a statement. There
are three poems I chose to write about and explain the importance of nature as a setting. The three
poems are I wandered lonely as a cloud by William Wordsworth, Birches by Robert Frost, and The
Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry. In these three poems, the poet uses nature as a setting to
make a statement about an important idea. The first poem, I wandered lonely as a cloud by William
Wordsworth is about the speaker imagining himself as if he was floating around like a cloud above all
the beauties of nature, seeing all the trees and flowers dance in the breeze. He values being able to
enjoy the beauty of nature and everything it has to offer. The poet uses his thoughts and memories of
nature to go to a simple, delightful place when he is feeling lonely and bored. Wordsworth says, In
vacant or in pensive mood, they flash upon my inward eye. He can just sit and think about how
wonderful nature is and how it creates a simple peaceful moment. In this poem, the speaker reveals
that he may have enjoyed just floating through life enjoying the small things. The crowd of daffodils
could represent a crowd of people wandering around with a purpose for something. However, the
speaker is wandering around thinking about nature and values the beauty of it. Wordsworth uses
nature in his poem to reveal a memory and a feeling. He uses nature to express the simplicity of life,

Epilogue To Romeo And Juliet
Now that I am five my chief will tell me how the sky lit up, Long Ago, before you and I were born,
the sky chief sent his son down to earth, where there was no light at night... Now since all of you are
all five I have to tell you the story my chief told me forty years ago when I was your age. Now lets
begin, Long ago, before you and I were born, the sky chief ordered his son down to earth, where there
was no light at night. The sky chief s son was named Lusio which means light. Lusio s job was to find
something that would light the sky up. The great fireball in the sky only lit up the sky for half of the
day. At night, the fireball went away and the sky turned dull and black like the fur of all the black

her way down she asked the birds flying her down if they have seen anything lighting up but they said
that they are asleep when everything glows at night. Learning from her brothers mistakes she asked a
rabbit that was hopping around, Do you know where to find something that is capable of lighting up
the night sky? The rabbit replied, You should try to find an owl. They are awake at night and can tell
you what lights up. Hakidonmuya went on a search for an owl that took her all around the world just

Oswald Chest Cobblepot In Gotham
Gotham, a crime show, has a cast of interesting archetypes who contribute to the show in their own
ways. One such character is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, who is the former umbrella man of Fish
Mooney, a crime lady of Gotham (the city). He is also a wingman of Salviatore Maroni, who is a mob
boss in Gotham. Lastly, he is a spy for Carmine Falcone, who is the head of the Gotham City mobs
and the underworld boss. Oswald Cobblepot, nicknamed The Penguin, because of his penguin style
walking, is at first a timid sycophant who uses his devious plans to manipulate others to achieve goals
for Fish Mooney and eventually Carmine Falcone. He has high intellect and is adept at manipulating
others with the resources he is given. However, by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gives Falcone to ability to sell off the worthless fellow to the GCPD so he can be killed, but by
using trickery as the trickster is known to do, Cobblepot provides valuable information to Falcone in
order to be killed off by Detective James Gordon of the GCPD, who Cobblepot knows is a trustworthy
officer, and won t kill him. This is an external struggle between the person and death that Cobblepot is
faced with. A major internal struggle he faces is when he decides to betray Falcone in order to become
the king of Gotham. Essentially, this is the transition from being a trickster to the villain who would
now be the main target for the hero, James Gordon. Cobblepot struggles with whether to stay loyal to
his savior or to betray the one who gave him new life and struggles to answer this question. Oswald
Cobblepot is a trickster and because of his ability to deceive people to meet his ends, his biggest
challenge is against death. Similarly to deceiving people, life almost deceives him when he sells off
Fish Mooney. In a way, death is deceptive that it comes face to face with him at an unexpected time,
similar to how he unexpectedly exposes his boss at a random given

The Starry Night Essay
Description: Van Gogh painted more than 10 paintings of olive trees, which was mostly in Saint Remy
de Provence, France in 1889. The painting of Olive Trees in a Mountainous Landscape was
complementary to The Starry Night. The landscapes are in a pattern of curves as painting from The
Starry Night. Van Gogh s unique painting technique, impasto was used. The characteristic style of
divisionism is used by painting multiple strokes with varieties of colors. It is decided character of each
horizontal zone of this turbulent work that keeps the picture from succumbing to the dullness of chaos,
which so often results from an artist s immersion in pure feeling. In the visionary cloud, with blue and

He expressed his feelings about his religion of Christianity through painting olive trees. Van Gogh
painted olive trees to show how France can be demanding and compelling place. Olive trees are the
representative of Provence, France. The pure nature of rural Provence in France is equivalent of a
painting of Christ on the Mount of Olives. Olive trees are painted included a religious meaning with
overtly using traditional Christian imagery. The image is dominated by the swelling rhythm of the
earth, the swirling cloud, and undulating mountains. Van Gogh considered the countryside to be a
rejuvenating antidote to the enervating decadence of the modern city. Olive trees are singled out as
motif and images that he saw as being the essential that makes up the enduring character of Provence.
Moreover, Van Gogh s passionate of painting fills the entire landscape land of grass, olive trees,
mountains, and clouds, with a tumultuous disordered motion. The painting is more powerful and
imaginative as expressionist art, which proceeded from a similar, emotionally charged vision of
nature. After Van Gogh voluntarily entered the asylum at Saint Rémy in the south of France in the
spring of 1889, he wrote his brother Theo: I did a landscape with olive trees and also a new study of a
starry sky. Later, when the pictures had dried, he sent both of them to Theo in Paris, noting: The olive

The Ethics of A Beautiful Mind
IntroductionBy examining the basic content sketch of the movie, A Beautiful Mind, and actual events
that occurred in John Nash s life, many ethical concerns will be addressed. Movies like A Beautiful
Mind create and amplify many ethical concerns relating to the portrayal of mental illnesses and how
society views them. The identity of the ethical concerns exposed in a popular media event, the ethical
dilemmas presented and an ethical theory that is used to address public concerns when a major form of
entertainment is used to misinform and the values exposed in an art form using distortion for
entertainment are all ethical concerns that occur within this film, and through other entertainments.
The concern lies in the social responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After his initial diagnosis, Nash is subjected to shock therapy and strong medication. The medication
did help him, but he found that his mathematical and cognitive abilities were severely diminished so
he stopped taking it. The movie has his wife faithfully standing by his side throughout his life offering
continued support and his friends offering varying degrees of support, including a position on the
faculty that is more honorary than anything. His illness did not readily pose a direct threat to anyone
nor was he physically violent to those around him. The instance where he nearly downed his infant
son was an exception rather than the norm and even then he believed the baby was under supervision.
The end of the movie shows Nash receiving the Nobel Prize for his doctoral thesis in 1994 with an
interview being conducted to ascertain his sanity. Nash claims he is sane under his current medication.
Dr. John Nash, the real person, led a much harder life. After his diagnosis, his wife divorced him in
1963 fearing safety, but did reunite in a non romantic relationship several years later and ultimately
remarrying in 2001. During their co habitation, his wife referred to Nash as a boarder and their living
arrangement similar to that of distant relatives (Nasar, 1998). At one point, he fled to Europe seeking
refuse from his attackers. In his 1994 autobiography, Nash states his release from the mental hospitals

Chinese Seamstress
In the novel Balzac and the Chinese Seamstress Dai Sijie uses key moments in the novel, such as the
seamstress departure, her transformation, and Four eyes and the two boys change of attitude to display
the significance including the importance of literature.
At the end of the novel, the seamstress decides that she has outgrown both Luo and the Narrator and
decides to leave. The line She said she had learnt one thing from Balac: that a womans beauty is a
treasure beyond price adresses how the two boys were not to tie her down anymore. Throughout the
novel, the boys are constantly trying to re educate the seamstress with western literature, in hopes that

However later on, we see her loose her innocence as she has sex with Luo, leading to her getting an
illegal abortion. Suggesting that the more educated you are, the less innocent you become. Throughout
the novel, Dai Sijie creates checkpoints for the reader, to present how the seamstress has transformed
more and more into a modernised, independent, city girl . This had first become apparent when the
seamstress was able to show her independent thinking for the first time; when they wanted Four Eyes
books and she sudenly swung her head round to face the boys and said about those books of his what
if we stole them? . This moment created a juxtaposition as the young innocent village girl had become
and intelligent woman that could care for herself after reading one book, written by Balzac. The
dramatic and confident motion of swinging her head round alone foreshadowed the seamstress
departure. The word swinging could allude to how her character and personality had completely
changed direction, taking a 180. The western books act as a motif in the novel, and we are reminded of
this every time the seamstress develops more into a self assured

The Survival Rates Of Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer is the most common misfortune in women and second leading cause of death by cancer.
Today, woman with breast cancer have a 90% chance of surviving for five years post diagnosis.
However, African American women have a national survival rate of 79%. Socioeconomic barriers and
lack of access to health services have crippled African American women in breast cancer
advancements. Studies have show that African American women tend to be diagnosed with a higher
stage of cancer because of the delay of being tested until it is late in the stage. African American
women in contrast to their white counterparts generally have a more aggressive stage of breast cancer
and therefore a shorter survival rate. These startling statistics bring ... Show more content on

Much advancement has been made for the treatment of breast cancer, yet the object of the matter is its
utilization. Lack of recommendation for screening mammography, poor access to health care and
cultural beliefs discouraging women from seeking care for a potential breast problem have each been
linked to disparate breast cancer outcomes between African American and White women. (American
Association for Cancer Research) Even though race based disparities have been explored in breast
cancer outcomes, direct evidence linking these disparities to social injustice is deficient. Few studies
have been reported examining the correlation between breast cancer disparities and racial
discrimination. Yet, there are evident reasons to suspect that racial prejudice contributes to the African
American disparities in breast cancer mortality. Studies have suggested that social injustice maybe be
linked to unequal access of breast cancer treatment. Caplan et al. reported that, African American
women had greater difficulty scheduling follow up appointments than did White women, which
resulted in delays in breast cancer diagnosis. (AACR) This utilization of treatments illustrates a drastic
and distant mortality rate overtime between White and African American women.

Being A Youth Mentor, Future Social Worker, And Concerned...
I choose to research representations of insecure attachments in children of incarcerated mothers. This
is an issue of both personal and societal important to me as a youth mentor, future social worker, and
concerned citizen. Since 2014, I have worked worked as a summer camp counselor of children aged
five to 13 in my hometown of New Kensington. The summer camp is organized by a non profit to
facilitate conflict resolution skills in children who are aggressive or anti social in school and other
settings. These children have multiple odds stacked against them: race (most are African American),
economic status, and unstable surrounding all contribute to their life experiences. I was taken aback
when I discovered how many of the campers had an incarcerated mother, father, or both. Along with
displaying aggressive behavior, most of the campers had difficulty bonding with their peers,
caregivers, and camp counselors. In the fields of psychology and social work, these are textbook signs
of insecure attachment. Much of my time as a camp counselor was spent working to foster acceptance
and affection in children who often don t receive any at home. Beyond anecdotal evidence, the role of
an absent mother in insecure attachments has been explored extensively by researchers. The research I
reviewed can be categorized as initial research on insecure attachments and their implications, and
more specific to the population I researched, insecure attachments in the children of incarcerated

Examples Of Loss Of Innocence In All Quiet On The Western...
In my book, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, the most intriguing aspect is
the loss of innocence by the main character, Paul, and his fellow soldiers. This is a recurring thought
that is shown throughout the novel. For instance, when the author writes, It is not fear. Mean who have
been up as often as we have become thick skinned (53). When he says this it is amidst the noises of
explosions and gunfire. It makes it very evident that the soldiers have become used to the constant
racket of war even during the pitch black of night. The author illustrates another example when he
writes, I was sitting in a dugout playing skat; after awhile I stood up and went to visit some friends in
another dugout. On my return nothing

Limitations Of Travelling
The ability to travel anywhere, whether it is in your own country, or to another place abroad, is a
privilege that is sometimes hard for others to accept. Being able to travel can often teach you more
than a job, relationship, or a lecture ever will, which is contrary to popular belief. Likewise, it is also
most certainly a gift to have the ability to experience the wonders of the outside world. However, there
are many people out there who feel that they are not in the position to be able to travel due to various
reasons. Reasons such as politics between countries and simply being able to afford traveling are some
of the main issues. Authors Natalie Thomas and Hannah Peterson, both addresses the positive reasons
of why people should travel. Whereas, Lisa van Beurden and Oneika Raymond comment on the
limitations of traveling. Thomas and Peterson, both who are in favor in traveling, has accumulated
many reasons why one should travel. They both believe that traveling allows people to stretch the
limits of [their] comfort zone (Thomas). The authors think that this is beneficial to people because
even though they may be immersed in an unfamiliar and uncomfortable surrounding, they will often
find something positive to make out in the situation. Ultimately, people will discover new things, be
exposed to new cultures and make new connections and friends. Through zip lining through the

Essay about Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
1)
The story takes place in the early XIXth century. There are two characters in this extract : Mr
Lockwood and Catherine Linton. Mr
Lockwood is the first narrator of this novel, he was one of Mr
Heathcliff s tenants. At the beginning of the story , there were three characters : Heathcliff, a
foundling, his sister Catherine and his brother Hindley. Catherine fell in love with Heathcliff, but was
married with Edgar Linton. So, the second character we meet here is
Catherine Linton, Edgar Linton s daughter. This extract belongs to the end of the novel. Catherine

So Mr Lockwood does not see her, and when she says that she is Catherine Linton, he does not believe
her because he had never seen her. We see that Mr Lockwood is shocked ; the situation is ambiguous
for him because he meets in a very unusual way the person who had written the diary he had just read.
But for the reader, the situation is not ambiguous because we know who is Catherine Linton. We know
that the scene is a combination of cicumstances ; Catherine wanted to come back to Wuthering
Heights, she just wanted to get in the house. The combination of circumstances makes that Mr
Lockwood, trying to catch the branch, had been surprised by Catherine. But she has no intention of
surprising Mr Lockwood. So, we could say that the gloomy atmosphere leads Mr Lockwood to
confused feelings, between sanity and madness.
The text could be set between sanity and madness for different reasons with regard to the two
charcters present in this scene : Mr Lockwood and Catherine Linton. Both charcters can be indeed
considered as mad but in the same time, they show sanity in their actions and reactions.
Catherine Linton came back to Wuthering Heights because she wanted to find her origins in this place
where her mother lived and above all because she had an affair with the owner of the farm :
Heathcliff. But she had never lived in this farm, so she didn t know how to get in and maybe noone

The Virgin Suicides and the Writing Self Essay examples
The Virgin Suicides and the Writing Self
Usually our voice for telling a story is our own writing self. A person that understands the situation at
hand and speaks in a manner relevant to the situation. We don t normally create a separate narrator to
make our writing more interesting. We simply write our thoughts and opinions to convey our ideas.
But Jeffery Eugenides writing the Virgin Suicides brought out a separate part of himself to narrate for
him. An entirely fabricated group to speak the story of the girls. This helped both the writer and the
reader in their reality separation. We read it and feel totally immersed in the fiction of the novel.

revealing, and forming their writing selves.
The writing self isn t something that can be evoked at will, it must be coerced through a series of
events, to appear. Its components are placed together neatly inside the unconscious, waiting to be
released. However when it is trusted to come forth, it is no longer coherent. A clear picture of what

of our writing self comes out. This extension of ourselves being released from our unconscious is the
process of the formation of the writer, to the writing self. The writing self has characteristics that we
are unable to control but it determines our writing style. It grows with every word we write and in this
way it is fed and nourished, becoming stronger. Once it is developed it is its own entity, its own
separate being. It is able to come forth, to be what the writer feels can only be realized through its

The writing self is the window through which people can view another person s life. It gives a
perspective that is sometimes revolutionary to the reader. Since people remember and form memories

Surfing Research Paper
Today, I am writing my college essay, an essay that has my very future on the precipice of success and
mediocrity, on surfing. If someone had told me five days ago this would be my topic, I would have
applied to the first dead end job that crossed my path. What did I know about surfing? Five days ago
the answer was nothing, and, proudly, today that answer has changed. Since my first time touching a
surfboard I have ridden my first wave and gotten my first mouthful of sand. The glorious part is that
every time I touch that board I get the biggest, and goofiest, smile on my face even when there is sand
seeping out of it.
In all honestly, surfing is beside the point, surfing has resurrected a part of myself that has been lost
for far too long.

Plate Tectonics In Pompeii
Plate tectonics can cause a big impact on humans and could possibly shift its course and our
knowledge of the past. This quarter we have been studied plate tonics in the quarter. Pompeii was a
city that was affected by plate tonics, its movement caused a massive eruption with terrible
consequences. The earth is a massive sphere composed of different layers. The layers above the
surface are gas, the surface is liquid and solid, but deep below it s a dense liquid that moves around.
The liquids inside the earth move because as the center is heated the material in it is hot and so its
density is reduced. Materials with a lower density tend to rise up as materials with higher densities
lower, this causes all the materials inside of the earth to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The surrounding areas such as the river itself and the surrounding fertile volcanic soil were great
appeals for the settlers since their main income and productions were olives and grapes. The first
settlers didn t know that where they settled had been site for ancient volcanic eruptions, so they
assumed that now the mountain was safe. Ancient greek history tells the story of Hercules, a brave and
strong semi god who fought the giants in that landscape. On the morning of 24th of August a
tremendous bang signalled that the magma that had been building over the last thousand years had
finally burst through the crater of Vesuvius. Fire and smoke bellowed from the volcano. At this point,
it may have seemed that the mountain was doing nothing more than offering a harmless pyrotechnic
display but at midday an even bigger explosion blew off the entire cone of Vesuvius and a massive
mushroom cloud of pumice particles rose 27 miles (43 Km) into the sky. The power of the explosion
has been calculated as 100,000 times greater than the nuclear bomb which devastated Hiroshima in
1945 CE. The ash that started to rain down on Pompeii was light in weight but the density was such
that within minutes everything was covered in centimetres of it. People tried to flee the town or sought
shelter where they could and those without shelter tried desperately to keep themselves above the

To An Army Wife In Sardis Essay
to an army wife, in Sardis written by Sappho, who is known as one of the greatest poets of ancient
Greece, is in many ways very similar to the poem written by Catullus let s live and love which is a
Greek poem. The most obvious similarity is the treatment of the beloved, the way our speaker
approach his love and his way of trying to convince her to let love win over war and old words.
Therefore, in this paper we are going to work on analysing these two poems and contrasting them.
As we start to analyse our thesis we can see that although they are similar in their goal but still
difference in the way. Sappho is approaching his lover using examples from ancient stories such as
Homer story of the Trojan war, where Helen escapes with Paris ... Show more content on

Since the focus is on the volunteers experiences in the new clinical setting, it is essential to have
significant information on them. The researcher was very thorough in reporting the types of
instruments used in the study, which include a demographic data sheet, a social support instrument,
and a modified Pagana Clinical Stress Questionnaire. Each of the three instruments are well defined
and described. It is evident that the researcher has tested each instrument and is familiar with it. Also
the researcher describes how the instruments were distributed to the volunteers via a contact person at
each hospital, which gives the reader a better picture of how the study was carried out. The results
presented are readily understood and are applied to the research question. The data is applied and
interpreted in accordance with the scales and instruments used. Types of stresses are listed according
to ranking order of severity and other stresses are listed as well. This allows readers to get an idea of
what stresses are affecting the subjects and also to what degree they are affected by these stresses. A
chart is included that depicts the positive and negative emotions the subjects experienced in
orientation along with the mean score and standard deviation. This chart clearly outlines the data for

For the world to grow and become a place not ruled by the overly wealthy and run by only those who
can win a war, all of the nations around the world have to become independant and have the ability to
produce items to ship to other nations. Ehrenreich talks about how an American reporter lost his job
because he was pretending to report from sites around the world while he was actually holed up in his
Brooklyn apartment She asks why this American lost his job for doing exactly what entire companies
are doing. Zakaria talks about power shifts and how we are going through a third power shift which
means that the shift of power is dissipating from America to the rest of the world. America used to be
the top of many lists for holding records such as tallest building, richest man, and leading financial
center; however, many of the records are now held by another county. This is a very good
representation of the shift of power, and although companies are outsourcing jobs, they are not getting

proves the power shift to include the rest of the world and make the global economy better, and not

The Assessment Of Yakima County
Yakima County is geographically very unique. The county is located in south central Washington State
among seven neighboring counties. Its geography consists mainly of rolling foothills and fertile
valleys. Agriculture is the main producer in the county s economy and, according to the Yakima
county economic profile, Yakima is the second largest county in Washington state at 2.75 million
acres. Concerning health in Yakima County there are three major issues that stand out. The percentage
of people without health insurance, health risk conditions, and the lack of preventative care.
The first, and most daunting issue concerning the health profile of Yakima County, in my opinion, is
the percentage of people without health insurance. The number of individuals in Yakima County
without health insurance is 37% as opposed to the state average of 19%. There are multiple reasons
one might go without such a necessity in our County as opposed to the state average. The first is
Bankruptcy. Lack of health insurance can come about due to lack of income to pay for it, or when a
breadwinner is between jobs that would otherwise provide health insurance as an employment benefit.
If a major illness or accident occurs during the time a person is uninsured, it can lead swiftly to
bankruptcy, reports the Oregon Public Broadcasting News. Under insurance, that is, health insurance
which is not sufficient to cover the costs of a major health incident, can also lead to bankruptcy. A

The Respect of Soldier s Rank
In the U.S. Military services, rank determines who gets to tell whom what to do. The higher one s rank
the more authority (and responsibility) they have. U.S. Military personnel fall into one of three
categories: (1) enlisted members, (2) warrant officers, and (3) commissioned officers. Warrant officers
outrank all enlisted members, and commissioned officers outrank all warrant officers and enlisted

Rank and pay grade are closely associated terms, but not quite the same. Pay grade is an
administrative classification, associated with a member s pay. Rank is a title and denotes the member s
level of authority and responsibility. An E 1 is the lowest enlisted pay grade. That person s rank is a

the same pay and wore the same insignia as equivalent noncommissioned officers except for a small T
centered under the chevrons. Technicians, despite the stripes, had no command authority over troops.
This evolved into the specialist ranks, pay grades E 4 to E 7.

What Is The Mood Of Poe s The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer and poet who wrote literary works during the early 1800 s.
He lived a troubled life and suffered through the deaths of many of those he loved, such as his wife
and mother; this pain and emotion was often portrayed in Poe s writing. In one of his most famous
poems, The Raven , Poe writes, from the perspective of a man, about his encounters with a talking
bird and the discussion he has about the whereabouts of his lost love. In this poem, Poe uses different
literary devices to emphasize the desperation that the narrator feels. These advanced writing
techniques portray a deeper meaning into the story and lead the reader to interpret a specific mood.
One way that Poe expresses the urgency of the this character is by using internal rhyme. By rhyming
two words within a line it further accents them and emphasizes their meaning. Specifically, he uses
this rhyme to develop mood and how it changes throughout the story. When the narrator says Once
upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, in the first stanza, the words dreary and

himself and his fear of the possibilities of what could be outside his door. The narrator tells himself Tis
some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door and repeats it in the next line, hereby assuring
himself of his safety. Later in the poem, Poe repeats phrases in order to highlight the narrator s
desperate need to have more information about his lost love, Lenore. The narrator yells at the raven

The Long Tail Of Underachievement Essay
Education systems are expressly set up to help achieve quality of opportunity and outcome(APA) , but
question is, are they? Statistic s put out by the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study
(TIMSS) showed our 9 year olds were ranked 34th out of 53 countries effectively bottom equal with
other developing nations along with a whole lot of unforgiving data findings (Johnston, 2015). Social
inequality has a much bigger role to play in the long tail of underachievement . It is common
knowledge that in New Zealand the gap between the wealthy and the poor has widened enormously
over the past two decades (APA). To analyses this dilemma we need to look at the defection of
socioeconomic status. Max Weber formed the term socioeconomic status (SES): An individual s or
group s position within hierarchical social structure. Socioeconomic status depends on a combination
of variables, including occupation, education, income, wealth, and place of residence (APA). I will
shed some light on answering this question and to also look at historical issues relating to
socioeconomic status and New Zealand s education. I will also mention some solutions that have put
forward, to provide opportunities for all children in New Zeland.
From where it all began, the first contact with Pakeha in the late 1700s and early 1800s, was largely
on Maori terms. It is often suggested that one of the main reasons that the first European settles came
to New Zealand was to get away from

Alexander Hamilton was one of the key, founding figures of the Federalist, a political party who

animosity towards each other. The duel was held on Wednesday, July 11, 1804 in Weehawken, New

The Literary Genre Of Science Fiction
The literary genre of science fiction, or sci fi, delves into the seemingly predictable and utopian like
future. Science fiction is often looked down upon due to its unrealistic plot lines. However, Isaac
Asimov enlightens the average person: Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to
the blinder critics and philosophers of today but the core of science fiction, its essence, the concept
around which it revolves, has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all. Having said
that, although sci fi isn t as respected as other literary genres, its presence in school curriculum is very
apparent, often times taught in the eleventh and twelfth grade, due to its inevitable influencing of the
reader to think beyond what is inside the box. For the reader, science fiction is read for the sole
purpose of its imaginative nature, and what could be. The purpose of this investigation is to interpret
the ignored emotions often felt by a reader of color when reading a science fiction novel with the
evident absence of diversity amongst the characters. Furthermore, the misunderstood significance of
sci fi will also be explored. As previously mentioned, the lack of people of color within science fiction
also detracts from the genre s credibility that it has gained from authors such as George Orwell,
Margaret Atwood, Isaac Asimov, and more. Nonetheless, these writers could perhaps be to blame for
the exclusion of Latinos and African Americans in

Essay on History of Rumba, Merengue and Salsa
According to Holger Henke in his The West Indian Americans, Jamaican Rex Nettleford was correct
when he said, dance was a primary instrument of survival . As such a vital part of cultural traditions,
dance plays and integral role in the history culture. Three of the most influential styles of dance in the
Caribbean are the Rumba, The Merengue, and the Salsa. The word Rumba is defined by the Merriam
Webster Dictionary as a ballroom dance of Haitian and Dominican origin in 2/4 time in which one
foot is dragged on every step. Here, however, Rumba is a collection of percussive rhythms, song and
dance that originated in Cuba as a combination of the musical traditions of Africans brought to Cuba

What we know today as Ballroom Rumba is basically son and not based on the authentic folk rumba.
The first serious attempt to introduce the rumba to the United States was in 1913 but real interest in
Latin music began about 1929. In the late 1920 s, Xavier Cugat formed an orchestra that specialized in
Latin American music and opened at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and later played at the
Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. By the end of the decade he was recognized as having the
outstanding Latin orchestra of the day. Monsieur Pierre was London s leading teacher of the Rumba
and in 1955 he and his partner, Doris Lavelle, introduced the true Cuban Rumba which was finally
established after much argument, as the official recognized version in 1955.
During this time, the intellectual movement known as Afrocubanismo, a sort of mass relization of the
value of African culture (especially in the Caribbean), gave roots to traditional rumba. When this
afrocubanismo movement came along, it helped open the doors to African rooted dancing and ways of
expression. Rumba became more accepted among Cubans and was a recognized cultural expression
that identified as a part of the Cuban people. It also provided the means at that point of public
expression for those without representation in the media, the Afro Cubans.
Today, Rumba is most commonly performed informally and can be broken down into three types:

Individualism and Collectivism in Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Never ask people, not about your work. In a world where individuality is Poisoned by the ends of
society, Howard Roark displays a faint glimmer of hope, whereas Lois cook epitomizes collectivism.
Roark s demeanor, personality, ideals, and perseverance all pin him as a shining example of
individualism. Roark clashes with the concept of conformity, a widespread phenomenon in
contemporary American society, which is one of the underlying causes of collectivist dictatorship.
Lois Cook is a writer of nonsense who exercises nonconformity and is under the control of Toohey.
However, her pursuit of nonconformity, often thought to be the opposite of blind obedience, is merely
a variation on the same theme. In Fountainhead, Ayn Rand explores the theme of individualism versus
collectivism, not only in politics but in mans soul; the psychological motivations and the basic
premises that produce the character of an individualist or a collectivist. Howard Roark is an adamant
architect, who believes that one s wholeness is always reflected in one s work. Roark practices
architecture with a modern style, and throughout the novel, he is opposed by people who blindly
believe in tradition, in the architectural styles of the past. But he displays diligence and integrity in his
choosing to not let laws dictate a single detail. His buildings were not Classical, Gothic, nor
Renaissance. They were only Howard Roark. Howard Roark is a manifestation of the ideal man, who

Article: Data Mining with Big Data (Paper 1) This paper addresses the complications being faced by
Big Data because of increase in the volume, complexity of data and due to multiple sources, which
produces large number of data sets. With the increase of big data in different fields like medicine,
media, social networking etc., there is a need for better processing model which can access the data at
the rate at which the data increases. This paper proposed a processing model, HACE theorem which
can address the characteristics of the elements of Big Data revolution.

Here in the paper the authors mentioned about the privacy issues and then some dependency issues
from social networking sites which shows a need for understanding both semantics and knowledge
from applications for processing of Big Data with the use of Big Data mining algorithms in the form
of three tiers. In the later part of the paper the author discussed about the challenges faced by Big Data
in the three tiers as difficulty in accessing the data in terms of storage and computing, gaining
knowledge by understanding semantics and how privacy can be achieved and how the overall
optimization can be obtained. These challenges made the authors to develop many data mining
methods which explains the convoluted relationships of evolving data.
Strengths and Limitations: The introduction part is very clearly explained showing how Big Data can
be used and what are the main challenges being faced today due to volume, autonomous, complexity
and heterogeneity of data, but drawing the conclusion from the examples mentioned is
incomprehensible. The processing framework is conveniently illustrated in three tiers but pipelining of
these tiers with a comprehensible example would make the paper more satisfactory. The authors tried
to drag the explanation of three tier system rather than being concise. The article lags in exhibiting
scientific facts about the functionality of this HACE theorem based Big Data Processing framework.
The initiative took by authors in terms of

My Experience Of Volunteering At A Local Nursing Home
I signed up to volunteer at a local nursing home. Because my father works there, I have been there
many times before. However, volunteering there was very new to me.
I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents
respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing
integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very
positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help and
many ways. The few menial tasks that I was able to do seemed to be met with much enthusiasm and
appreciation. Simply helping someone to their seat bringing them a cup of tea or ... Show more

Throughout their history, their mission was always to provide quality care with respect and dignity to
the elderly.
I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how
appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When visiting
rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities. I felt a
heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to make them
better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them and keep
dignity.
I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the residents,
we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait for the
activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can and do get
impatient when waiting to play bingo.) I also think that simple gestures of kindness were enough to
brighten someone s day which in and of itself makes it worthwhile.
From this understanding, we as a people have a responsibility to unite in the pursuit of justice in order
to make all voices heard and recognize those who are in the greatest need. Practice of these teachings
would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing to it that
injustice is overcome

The Discovery Dispute And Its Effect On The Status As A...
For the reasons stated in Part II(A), supra, Avpro enters this discovery dispute with a distinct
advantage due to its status as a non party. Independent of its status as a non party, the electronic
discovery that 50NL seeks from Avpro would otherwise be undiscoverable because Avpro s need for
the discovery does not outweigh the burden and cost of locating, retrieving, and producing the
information. Md. Rule 2 402(b)(2). Moreover, the fact that 50NL s need for the requested discovery is
de minimis, the burden and costs imposed on Avpro are exorbitant, all in conjunction with the fact that
Avpro is a non party to the underlying litigation, all indicate that this Court should deny 50NL s
motion to compel.
Unfortunately, while Md. Rule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rule 2 402(b) as cited in the committee s meeting minutes on October 12, 2006. Maryland Court of
Appeals Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, October 13, 2006 Meeting Minutes
*69, available at http://mdlaw.cloudapp.net/awweb/main.jsp?flag=browse smd=1 awdid=3. As such,
Respondents respectfully submit that this Court should look to the factors articulated in Zubulake to
inform its understanding of the terms undue burden, undue cost. and need for discovery as those terms
are used in Md. Rule 2 402(b)(2). In the instant matter, virtually all of the Zubulake factors weigh in
favor of denying 50NL s motion to compel, and those that do not, certainly do not weigh in favor of
granting the motion. First, both of the respective requests ask for all written communications between
Greg Noval and Avpro spanning a period of nine months. Granted, the requests purport to limit its
scope to communications involving aircraft. Lest we not forget, however, that Avpro is an aircraft
broker, and as such, this purported limitation rings hollow. Indeed, perhaps every incoming or
outgoing communication sent from or received by Avpro relates to an aircraft in some way or another.
As such, the incredibly broad scope of the discovery request at issue militates in favor of denying
50NL s motion to compel. Moreover, in this matter, not only is all the information that Avpro seeks

Equilibrium Constant Lab
Determination of an Equilibrium Constant Joseph Denning Group Participants: Maycie Hestand,
Austin Prinkki, Kellen Wright Meeting Time: Friday 10:00 AM TA: Hannah Colmer Date: 26
February 16 Introduction In this lab, the equilibrium constant is determined for the following reaction
between iron cations and thiocyanate anions: Fe3+ (aq) + SCN (aq) ⇌ FeSCN2+. First of all,
equilibrium is the balance of the macroscopic variables in a reaction; they don t change over time. The
reaction still takes place, but the rates of the forward and backward reactions are equal.1 The
equilibrium constant for the reaction in this experiment is K_c=[FeSCN^(2+) ]/([Fe^(3+) ][SCN^ ]) .
An equilibrium constant tells whether or not at equilibrium a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This number means that the reaction is fairly product favored as the number is larger than one. The
actual value for the equilibrium constant of this reaction was within the range of 200 250. Our
calculated value was fairly far off, with between 25 56% error. It is clear that the experimental data
has error, as evidenced by the R2 value of .3092. It should be noted that if results from the fourth,
fifth, and sixth addition of 1 mL of Fe(NO3)3 are omitted in Figure 1, the R2 jumps to .8451 and the
equilibrium constant is 238.1, well within the desired

  • 7. Importance Of Nature In Poetry In poetry, poets use nature as a reference to reveal something important and make a statement. There are three poems I chose to write about and explain the importance of nature as a setting. The three poems are I wandered lonely as a cloud by William Wordsworth, Birches by Robert Frost, and The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry. In these three poems, the poet uses nature as a setting to make a statement about an important idea. The first poem, I wandered lonely as a cloud by William Wordsworth is about the speaker imagining himself as if he was floating around like a cloud above all the beauties of nature, seeing all the trees and flowers dance in the breeze. He values being able to enjoy the beauty of nature and everything it has to offer. The poet uses his thoughts and memories of nature to go to a simple, delightful place when he is feeling lonely and bored. Wordsworth says, In vacant or in pensive mood, they flash upon my inward eye. He can just sit and think about how wonderful nature is and how it creates a simple peaceful moment. In this poem, the speaker reveals that he may have enjoyed just floating through life enjoying the small things. The crowd of daffodils could represent a crowd of people wandering around with a purpose for something. However, the speaker is wandering around thinking about nature and values the beauty of it. The summer camp is organized by a non profit to facilitate conflict resolution skills in children who are aggressive or anti social in school and other settings. These children have multiple odds stacked against them: race (most are African American), economic status, and unstable surrounding all contribute to their life experiences. I was taken aback when I discovered how many of the campers had an incarcerated mother, father, or both. Along with displaying aggressive behavior, most of the campers had difficulty bonding with their peers, caregivers, and camp counselors. In the fields of psychology and social work, these are textbook signs of insecure attachment. Much of my time as a camp counselor was spent working to foster acceptance and affection in children who often don t receive any at home. This quarter we have been studied plate tonics in the quarter. Pompeii was a city that was affected by plate tonics, its movement caused a massive eruption with terrible consequences. The earth is a massive sphere composed of different layers. The layers above the surface are gas, the surface is liquid and solid, but deep below it s a dense liquid that moves around. The liquids inside the earth move because as the center is heated the material in it is hot and so its density is reduced. The first settlers didn t know that where they settled had been site for ancient volcanic eruptions, so they assumed that now the mountain was safe. Ancient greek history tells the story of Hercules, a brave and strong semi god who fought the giants in that landscape. On the morning of 24th of August a tremendous bang signalled that the magma that had been building over the last thousand years had finally burst through the crater of Vesuvius. Fire and smoke bellowed from the volcano. At this point, it may have seemed that the mountain was doing nothing more than offering a harmless pyrotechnic display but at midday an even bigger explosion blew off the entire cone of Vesuvius and a massive mushroom cloud of pumice particles rose 27 miles (43 Km) into the sky. The power of the explosion has been calculated as 100,000 times greater than the nuclear bomb which devastated Hiroshima in 1945 CE. The number of individuals in Yakima County without health insurance is 37% as opposed to the state average of 19%. There are multiple reasons one might go without such a necessity in our County as opposed to the state average. The first is Bankruptcy. Lack of health insurance can come about due to lack of income to pay for it, or when a breadwinner is between jobs that would otherwise provide health insurance as an employment benefit. If a major illness or accident occurs during the time a person is uninsured, it can lead swiftly to bankruptcy, reports the Oregon Public Broadcasting News. He lived a troubled life and suffered through the deaths of many of those he loved, such as his wife and mother; this pain and emotion was often portrayed in Poe s writing. In one of his most famous poems, The Raven , Poe writes, from the perspective of a man, about his encounters with a talking bird and the discussion he has about the whereabouts of his lost love. In this poem, Poe uses different literary devices to emphasize the desperation that the narrator feels. These advanced writing techniques portray a deeper meaning into the story and lead the reader to interpret a specific mood. One way that Poe expresses the urgency of the this character is by using internal rhyme. By rhyming two words within a line it further accents them and emphasizes their meaning. Statistic s put out by the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) showed our 9 year olds were ranked 34th out of 53 countries effectively bottom equal with other developing nations along with a whole lot of unforgiving data findings (Johnston, 2015). Social inequality has a much bigger role to play in the long tail of underachievement . It is common knowledge that in New Zealand the gap between the wealthy and the poor has widened enormously over the past two decades (APA). To analyses this dilemma we need to look at the defection of socioeconomic status. Max Weber formed the term socioeconomic status (SES): An individual s or group s position within hierarchical social structure. Socioeconomic status depends on a combination of variables, including occupation, education, income, wealth, and place of residence (APA). Science fiction is often looked down upon due to its unrealistic plot lines. However, Isaac Asimov enlightens the average person: Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today but the core of science fiction, its essence, the concept around which it revolves, has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all. Having said that, although sci fi isn t as respected as other literary genres, its presence in school curriculum is very apparent, often times taught in the eleventh and twelfth grade, due to its inevitable influencing of the reader to think beyond what is inside the box. For the reader, science fiction is read for the sole purpose of its imaginative nature, and what could be. The purpose of this investigation is to interpret the ignored emotions often felt by a reader of color when reading a science fiction novel with the evident absence of diversity amongst the characters. Furthermore, the misunderstood significance of sci fi will also be explored. The first serious attempt to introduce the rumba to the United States was in 1913 but real interest in Latin music began about 1929. In the late 1920 s, Xavier Cugat formed an orchestra that specialized in Latin American music and opened at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and later played at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. By the end of the decade he was recognized as having the outstanding Latin orchestra of the day. Monsieur Pierre was London s leading teacher of the Rumba and in 1955 he and his partner, Doris Lavelle, introduced the true Cuban Rumba which was finally established after much argument, as the official recognized version in 1955. During this time, the intellectual movement known as Afrocubanismo, a sort of mass relization of the value of African culture (especially in the Caribbean), gave roots to traditional rumba. When this afrocubanismo movement came along, it helped open the doors to African rooted dancing and ways of expression. Rumba became more accepted among Cubans and was a recognized cultural expression that identified as a part of the Cuban people. Practice of these teachings would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing to it that injustice is overcome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Discovery Dispute And Its Effect On The Status As A... For the reasons stated in Part II(A), supra, Avpro enters this discovery dispute with a distinct advantage due to its status as a non party. Independent of its status as a non party, the electronic discovery that 50NL seeks from Avpro would otherwise be undiscoverable because Avpro s need for the discovery does not outweigh the burden and cost of locating, retrieving, and producing the information. Md. Rule 2 402(b)(2). Moreover, the fact that 50NL s need for the requested discovery is de minimis, the burden and costs imposed on Avpro are exorbitant, all in conjunction with the fact that Avpro is a non party to the underlying litigation, all indicate that this Court should deny 50NL s motion to compel. Unfortunately, while Md. Rule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rule 2 402(b) as cited in the committee s meeting minutes on October 12, 2006. Maryland Court of Appeals Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, October 13, 2006 Meeting Minutes *69, available at http://mdlaw.cloudapp.net/awweb/main.jsp?flag=browse smd=1 awdid=3. As such, Respondents respectfully submit that this Court should look to the factors articulated in Zubulake to inform its understanding of the terms undue burden, undue cost. and need for discovery as those terms are used in Md. Rule 2 402(b)(2). In the instant matter, virtually all of the Zubulake factors weigh in favor of denying 50NL s motion to compel, and those that do not, certainly do not weigh in favor of granting the motion. First, both of the respective requests ask for all written communications between Greg Noval and Avpro spanning a period of nine months. Granted, the requests purport to limit its scope to communications involving aircraft. Lest we not forget, however, that Avpro is an aircraft broker, and as such, this purported limitation rings hollow. Indeed, perhaps every incoming or outgoing communication sent from or received by Avpro relates to an aircraft in some way or another. As such, the incredibly broad scope of the discovery request at issue militates in favor of denying 50NL s motion to compel. Moreover, in this matter, not only is all the information that Avpro seeks readily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Equilibrium Constant Lab Determination of an Equilibrium Constant Joseph Denning Group Participants: Maycie Hestand, Austin Prinkki, Kellen Wright Meeting Time: Friday 10:00 AM TA: Hannah Colmer Date: 26 February 16 Introduction In this lab, the equilibrium constant is determined for the following reaction between iron cations and thiocyanate anions: Fe3+ (aq) + SCN (aq) ⇌ FeSCN2+. First of all, equilibrium is the balance of the macroscopic variables in a reaction; they don t change over time. The reaction still takes place, but the rates of the forward and backward reactions are equal.1 The equilibrium constant for the reaction in this experiment is K_c=[FeSCN^(2+) ]/([Fe^(3+) ][SCN^ ]) . An equilibrium constant tells whether or not at equilibrium a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This number means that the reaction is fairly product favored as the number is larger than one. The actual value for the equilibrium constant of this reaction was within the range of 200 250. Our calculated value was fairly far off, with between 25 56% error. It is clear that the experimental data has error, as evidenced by the R2 value of .3092. It should be noted that if results from the fourth, fifth, and sixth addition of 1 mL of Fe(NO3)3 are omitted in Figure 1, the R2 jumps to .8451 and the equilibrium constant is 238.1, well within the desired ...
