Two Different Types Of Friends
As we grow older, we find friends to discover the new stages of life with. Those same friends help
define who we are as people. There are five different types of friends that will come and go in our
lives. They are wild, dependable, lucky, chill, and funny. All of them add up to one amazing group of
best friends. First up is the wild one. They always seems to be getting into trouble. Every once in a
while a party opportunity comes up. The wild one takes the first chance they get to go. They leave
other responsibilities behind and procrastinate to the last minute. Grades do not seem to be their
number one priority in life. However, getting a high score on a video game is on the top of their to do
list, and they may disregard other, more important tasks just to achieve it. Eventually, they will ask for
your homework to double check their answers. We all know they just forgot to do the assignment.
Every so often they remind us it is okay to have a little fun in our lives. Maybe that is the reason they
are one of our best friends. Next up is the complete opposite of the wild one, which would be the
dependable one. They are designated as the mom of the group. Not only do they write things down in
a planner, but they will follow their scribbles as if it were laws etched on a stone tablet by Moses. It is
their guide to life. Instead of procrastinating, they will have the assignment done a week in advance.
When it comes to studying, they make flashcards and study

Using Two Transmit Diversity Scheme
1.2 LITERATURE REVIEW
[1]S. M. Alamouti, describes a simple two branch transmit diversity scheme. Using two transmit
antenna and one receive antenna, the new transmit antenna provides the same diversity order as
maximal ratio receiver combining (MRRC) with one transmit and two receive antennas. The scheme
easily be generated to two transmit antenna and M receive antenna to provide a diversity order of 2M.
This scheme does not require any bandwidth expansion any feedback from the receiver to the
transmitter and its computation complexity is similar to MRRC. This also provide diversity
improvement to all the remote units in a wireless system, using two transmit antennas at the base
station instead of two receive antenna at all the remote terminals.
[2]Vahid Tarokh, proposed that data is encoded by a channel code and encoded data is split into n
streams that are simultaneously transmitted using n transmit antennas. The received signal at the each
receive antenna is a linear superposition of the n transmitted perturbed by noise. The code constructed
here provides the best trade off between data rate, diversity advantage, and trellis complexity.
Maximum likelihood decoding is achieved in a simple way through decoupling of the signal
transmitted from different antennas rather than joint detection and significant gain can be achieved by
using the increasing number of transmit chains with the very little decoding complexity.

Characterization of Death in Dickinson s Poetry
CHARACTERIZATION OF DEATH IN DICKINSON S POETRY
Emily Dickinson had a sad life full with tragic experiences and its influences on her poetry can be
seen in most of her works. During her life, she struggled with traumatic effects of a succession of
deaths and due to this situation she spend the later half of her years in grief. The tragic deaths of
people close to Dickinson have affected her writing and style of expression, in which death became a
persisting theme of her poetry. Even though most of her poems consist directly on the subject death ,
she also used unusual ways to write about this theme, by writing about immortality as a state of
consciousness in an everlasting present. A typical example can be seen in her poems Because I ...

In addition, the family of the narrator is there to say goodbye to their loved one for the last time as she
dying in her bed. For any human being, a moment such as this one is supposed to be a vital and most
solemn time; however instead of reflecting the melancholy of this moment, Dickinson wrote that there
is a fly buzzing around the room. Actually, this fly causes stealing the leading role of the show and
gets everyone s notice, as the room, Was like the Stillness in the Air / Between the Heaves of Storm,
(3 4). The narrator feels mainly bothered at this interruption; hence, as inexplicable as death is, there
are some hopes, such as seeing a brilliant white glow upon walking into heaven or seeing God, so far
the narrator only hears a fly buzzing, no light, no salvation, no God. The next stanza is about the
family s enduring by waiting for her death. The dying woman portrays them as, The Eyes around had
wrung them dry, (5). Her family members are only waiting at this moment, because they have cried as
much as they may possibly cry over losing a beloved one. In the lines For that last Onset when the
King / Be witnessed in the Room, (7 8), Dickinson points out an irony by using the words that last

Essay On Path Loss Model
Several existing path loss models exist as discussed above among other ones, but the best existing path
loss model with the closest propagation exponent [36], to the measured path loss data, will be chosen
as a reference for the development of the adapted path loss model for a particular environment. Many
related research works have been done in this area.
In [37] path loss models were presented from experimental data collected in Port Harcourt South
South region of Nigeria from 10 existing microcells operating at 876MHz. The path loss models for
the urban and the suburban areas of Port Harcourt were developed from the results of the
measurements. The data were collected using the net monitor application of NOKIA 1265 CDMA

The authors used the Transverse Electromagnetic Wave (TEMS) Investigation Application software
programmed in a Laptop to gather data. The Radio Propagation Simulator (TEMS) was deployed to
record the base station and each test point coordinates (latitudes and longitudes), together with the
Received Signal Strength (RSS) in which the TEMS serves as the Mobile Unit, for this purpose. In
each of the three sectors of the six (6) targets Base Transmitting Stations, Ten (10) different Received
Power measurements were conducted. Variances were observed in the measurements, at the same
distance in the different sectors for all the BTSs which signifies different levels of clutter on the
Propagation path. The path loss exponent, n, was derived statistically through the application of linear
regression analysis technique by minimising in a mean square sense, the difference between the
Measured Path Loss and the Predicted Path Loss. The Receive Signal Strength (RSS) measurements
were applied to determine the Path Loss that characterize Enugu Urban environment.

across the United States of America in 95 existing macrocells were presented. In all the 95 cellular

Wilhelm Rontgen and the Nobel Prize Essay
Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was born on March 27, 1845 in Lennep, Prussia; which is now Remscheid,
Germany. His family moved to Apeldoorn in the Netherlands, where we went to Institute of Martinus
Herman van Doorn, a boarding school. He did not show any special aptitude, but he had a fascination
with nature and loved roaming the countryside and walking through forests. Later he attended a
technical school in Utrecht, but unfortunately was unfairly expelled for allegedly drawing a rude
caricature of one of the teachers, which was in fact drawn by another student. He then entered the
University of Utrecht in 1865 to study physics. He did not have the required credentials to enter the
University, but he heard he could enter by passing an exam. He ... Show more content on

He named this new discovery X Ray because x is the term for an unknown number in mathematics. It
was later called Roentgen Rays although changed back to X Ray . With his new discovery, he found
that the rays would travel through human tissue, but leave a shadow of bone and metal behind. One of
his first experiments was on his wife Bertha s hand with a ring on her finger in 1895. Medical X rays
work by letting fast moving electrons come to a sudden stop on a metal plate. They show up different
on the radiograph because of different absorption rates of different material. The calcium in bones
absorb the most x rays so they appear white on a radiograph, or the film x rays are displayed on,
although other things like tissue, fat and skin absorb it less so they appear grey. Air absorbs the least x
rays so this is why lungs look completely black on a radiograph. Todays x ray machines are much
faster, more efficient and produce much less harmful radiation. Excessive exposure to x rays can be
dangerous but in modern medicine doctors are able to keep us safe with their knowledge on this. The
original x ray machine took 90 minutes and produced 1500 times the radiation as modern x rays.
Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen has made a huge impact on todays technology. It s obvious to see that
inventing the x ray is a big deal, but this was actually a very big accomplishment and made a lot of
new things possible. Without the x ray our ability in the medical world would be

The Importance Of Antibiotic Resistance In Antibiotics
A serious public health problem is the rise in antibiotic resistance. Some bacteria that can cause
serious disease are becoming resistant to most commonly available antibiotics. Antibiotic medications
are used to kill bacteria, which can cause disease and illness. A major contribution to human health is
antibiotic medication. Many diseases that once killed people in the past can now be treated effectively
with antibiotics. However, it has come to the surface that some bacteria have become resistant to
commonly used antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant bacteria are bacteria that are not controlled or killed by
antibiotics. They can multiply and even survive in the presence of an antibiotic. Most infection
causing bacteria can become resistant to at least some antibiotics. Bacteria that are resistant to many
antibiotics are known as multi resistant organisms (MRO). (Antibiotic Resistant bacteria, 2017) In the
late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, S. aureus developed resistance to penicillin. Methicillin, a form
of penicillin, was introduced to counter the increasing problem of penicillin resistant S. aureus. At this
time Methicillin was one of most common types of antibiotics used to treat S. aureus infections; but in
1961, British scientists identified the first strains of S. aureus bacteria that resisted methicillin. This
was the so called birth of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It was not until 1968
that the first reported human case of MRSA in the

Essay Informative Speech About Tattoos
It seems like everyone has one these days. What used to be the property of sailors, outlaws, and biker
gangs is now a popular body decoration for many people. And it s not just anchors, skulls, and
battleships anymore, from school emblems to Celtic designs to personalized symbols; people have
found many ways to express themselves with them. Maybe you ve thought about getting one. Well
before you head down to the nearest tattoo shop and roll up your sleeve, there are a few things you
need to know.
So You Ask, What Exactly is a Tattoo? A tattoo is a puncture wound, made deep in your skin, that s
filled with ink. The tattoo is made by penetrating your skin with a needle and injecting ink into the
area creating some sort of design of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it looks a lot cooler than a big scab, a new tattoo is also a wound and like any other scrape,
puncture, cut or penetration to your skin, a tattoo is at risk for infections and disease. You need to
make sure you are up to date with your immunizations (especially hepatitis and tetanus shots) and plan
where you will get medical care if your new tattoo does become infected. Signs of infection include
excessive redness or tenderness, prolonged bleeding, pus, or changes in your skin color around the
tattoo. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, allergies, diabetes, skin disorders or any
condition that affects your immune system or are prone to infections, you should ask your doctor
before deciding to get a tattoo. Also, if you are prone to getting keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue
in the area of the wound), it s probably best to avoid getting a tattoo altogether.
Avoiding Infection It s very important to make sure the tattoo studio is clean and safe, and that all
equipment is disposable (needles, gloves, masks, etc.) and that everything is sterilized. You can call
your state, county, or local health department to ask for recommendations on licensed tattoo shops, or
to ask about any complaints about a particular studio.
Professional studios take pride in their cleanliness; here are a few things to check for:
Make sure the studio has an autoclave which is a device that

The Religion of Sikhism
Sikhism is the youngest of the world s five great monotheistic religions. In 1801, the Sikh state was
founded in Northern India by Maharaja Ranjit Singh based on the teachings of Guru Nanak, who is
also the founder. The teachings of Sikhism are summed up by Guru Nanak in these words: Realization
of truth is higher than all else. Higher still is truthful living (Teece). Sikhs have a variety of teachings
in their culture and religion, but the ones I found emphasized the principles of equality of all humans
and rejection of discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, and gender. Like other religious founders,
Guru Nanak was fascinated by God and religion and starting at a young age he did not participate in
religious rituals and often meditated alone. As a young man, he took many missionary trips because of
his desire to explore and gain knowledge. There is one primary source of scripture for the Sikhs, the
Guru Granth Sahib or the Adi Granth. The two texts are used interchangeably, and the Guru Granth
Sahib can be called the first volume. However, the two books have different compilations. The first,
Adi Granth, was created by Guru Arjan in 1604 and the Guru Granth Sahib was later compiled by
Guru Gobind Singh. Who and what is a Sikh? The word Sikh in the Punjabi language means disciple .
Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus. The
wisdom of these teachings in Guru Granth Sahib is practical and universal in their

Essay Comparing The Marriage Of Figaro And Twelfth Night
A common discussion between the sexes is the omnipotent power that men seem to hold over women
in all societies. Why do men always have the social advantage over women? Both Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night and Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro show that there is indeed a social stigma
placed on women where women are not allowed as much freedom to either fight back against a suitor
or choose not to accept a suitor s love and choose another. Shakespeare s Twelfth Night focuses
mainly on the negative stigmas against women, while Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro places
most of the blame for perpetuating the stigmas on the aristocracy, especially the men within the
aristocracy (i.e. the Count). Both texts examine the social role women play in society, and both texts
critique the societal norms that restrict women.

Towards the beginning, Suzanne expresses her dislike of the positioning of her and Figaro s bedroom.
She is afraid that the Count will somehow distract Figaro enough for him to lie with her. The fact that
she even considers this a possibility reveals a great problem: in her position as a servant of the
aristocracy and as a young woman, Suzanne is likely to fall prey to powerful men, just because they
have power over her. The Countess, too, is in a similar position, although she is of the aristocracy. The
Countess is held strictly accountable for the rumors that she was engaging in an affair, even though the
Count himself is attempting to engage in his own affair with Suzanne. The Count accuses the
Countess of unfaithfulness and doesn t even consider that his own attempt at an affair is an account of
his own unfaithfulness. Suzanne also encounters this issue when the Count uncovers Cherubin, and
Cherubin is discovered in her room: You wanted to be alone so you could receive my page, eh?

Compare And Contrast Harrison Bergeron And Old Glory
Harrison Bergeron and Old Glory are both in the science fiction genre and take place in a future where
the government is in full control of everything and everyone. In Harrison Bergeron , everyone is equal
and the Handicap General is the person that makes that happen, weather by means of handicaps or
being forcing people to wear masks. Harrison Bergeron doesn t like this and tries to put a stop to this
but ends up being killed by the Handicap General. Old Glory is about a young boy s grandfather being
upset about a new law being passed and tries to protest about it, but similar to Harrison Bergeron, he
also ends up getting killed by the government. Both authors use many science fiction elements to help
develop the theme of an oppressive government keeping people from being who they really are. ...

In Old Glory the main character s great grandfather says, Thirteen stripes, sixty‐two stars, and not a bit
of meaning. Also, even though Harrison Bergeron takes place in 2081, it doesn t have as much
futuristic advancements as Old Glory , which takes place in 2041. In Harrison Bergeron , George and
Hazel still have an old television with a television tube in it, but in Old Glory , people have things
called halo sets . This element of sci fi helps develop the theme because the stories are showing what
could happen in the future if people aren t aware of what the government is capable

Passing And Repealment Of The Fourteenth Amendment
Answering how the Prohibition failed is a lofty question with many answers and components of
answers. Even daily life during the Prohibition had was shaped by illegal alcohol making and trading.
You would regularly hear of people being gunned down in the street due to a bad deal or a falling out.
The combination of crime and disobedience at such a high rate spelled for the inevitable repeal of
Amendment 18, but what were some of the specific factors? This paper will try to examine what led to
the passing and repealment of The 18th Amendment + The Volstead Act. In order to understand the
problem, we have to first know what caused it. That would be the 18th Amendment and the Volstead
Act. The 18th Amendment prohibited the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a controversial move for the Congress to make, it certainly did not go off without
consequences. The Volstead Act, even as concrete as its rules seem, had many loopholes that the
American people could abuse. One of the largest and most obvious loopholes was that medicinal
alcohol could still be prescribed by physicians. Many people would feign sickness in order to obtain
whisky legally and reliably. This caused the sale of medical alcohol to insanely spike in sales, but even
with the obvious implications these stats held, the government did not remove whisky as a prescribed
medicine. Many farmers would also profit off of alcohol made of grapes and other juices. Since the
government couldn t ban fruit juices, they would mix those fruits with a certain dry fruit used to create
alcohol. Supplies in which you could easily brew your own alcohol could also be found in common
groceries. People even went as far as to joining the congregation to obtain sacramental wine. If one
wanted to enjoy their drinking with others, they could just enter one of the many Speakeasies, popping
up underground. These secret bars had secret entrances, which could only be accessed with a spoken
password. It was said that with every legitimate bar closed, six speakeasies would take it s place.
While some made the use of legal loopholes to get their alcohol fix, many turned to crime and
subterfuge. People who didn t want to directly get their hands dirty called upon the

The Mass Medi The Failure Of The Mass Media
The general population consists of seven billion people across the earth. The majority of the
individuals partake in receiving knowledge from those whose job it is to relay pertinent day to day
information to the general public. This minority is known as the mass media, and it is much larger
than simply journalism. The mass media is the newspaper, television, Video games, novels, textbooks,
and social media. Essentially any medium that is consumed excessively by the majority public is
known as a mass media. The most important of the mass media s is journalism and reporting; the
relaying of information from the reporters to the population. For years, controversy was a serious part
of the debate for what could not be shown, what could be, how far journalists are allowed to go to get
their information. Then, the SPJ: Code of Ethics emerged, giving guidelines for journalists and
reporters on how to seize, utilize, and properly report on subjects at hand. However, journalists and
reporters time and time again have deserted their code of conduct. For instance, the New Republic s
Stephen Glass did this via bypassing fact checkers and creating fictitious news stories. This led to the
downfall of the New Republic s reputation, along with ending the career of Stephen Glass. Though the
exact same is not being done with reporting politics, their use of power has become an arbitrary
system, where they decide what suits their own political standing and showing the information in such

Definitions Of A Computer Network
Define and explain the following terminologies
Computer network:
In a computer network, relevant equipment is interconnected through the usage of wires or wireless
mechanisms in order to exchange data. In particular, a computer network allows for info and data to
be exchanged, at an instance, from one interconnected spot to another. In such case, a client/server
system applies; a terminal is directly connected to a relevant local area network (LAN). In
contemporaneous business doing, computers are usually connected through LAN to shared office
resources (i.e. software) located on a relevant office server that allows for interconnection of users,
who can use available office resources via terminals that act as connection points (Kuross ... Show

In a LAN, terminals can be connected to a central terminal (i.e. computer) that may act as the means
for the particular network to achieve external intercommunication as well. In such case, a LAN of a
certain building A can be interconnected to the LAN of a certain building B through a local area
network to local area network infrastructure. Such interconnection is highly useful and significant
when in need to save cost by sharing a printer, for example, between departments that would need,
otherwise, separate printing devices (Kuross Ross, 2005, p.34).
Metropolitan area networks (MANs)
In a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), parties (i.e. companies, individuals, etc.) can be
interconnected with each other and connect to the Internet in an area of up to 50 kilometers. In a
MAN, local area networks can be interconnected with a metropolitan area network through
appropriate network infrastructure consisting of fiber optic links that allow for fast interconnection
between client/server LAN and for a connection to a relevant Internet Service Provider. The usage of a
MAN, allows for companies to have access to ISP services and to the software that is being hosted in
an ISP although being off site (Kuross Ross, 2005, p.35).
Wide area networks (WANs)
Wide Area Networks constitute the next stage of MANs; interconnections between computer networks
have no geographical limit and can extend to cities, prefectures, countries and the whole world.

Holiday by Margaret Atwood Essay examples
Holiday by Margaret Atwood Holiday by Margaret Atwood has a simple and familiar subject but the
real meaning behind the simple story is hard hitting and in many ways it is a warning. She talks of a
holiday and story shows how she is at a barbeque with her family in the countryside. However she
interweaves a bleak image of our future within this straightforward story. It starts of with Atwood
describing her daughter eating sausages. She uses the words barbarism and creates an image of burst
meat dripping down her chin these words create a very primitive and uncivilized image. She describes
them standing beneath a large leafed tree with nature as their only protection. This scene ... Show

We humans are too placid. like a breath, a footstep shows that the danger is creeping up slowly and
softly but is without doubt there. She uses a juxtaposition in the next line saying, with its calm eye of
fire calm and fire are 2 opposites as fire is never meant to be calm. She says that fire or danger is
coming but very peacefully. The calm nothing carries with it an explosive danger, which we are
ignorant to. She then comes back to present and describes the scene around her. She continues to
depict her daughter eating and looking for berries. However the line grace plumps the berries, two or
three hot and squashed in her fist seems to be a metaphor. I think that Atwood is saying simply that her
daughter finds a Few dusty berries and then squashes them in her hand. However its profound
meaning seems to be that grace or blessing from god has made the berries round and juicy, they slowly
became dusty and now man destroys it so frivolously. It is a metaphor showing nature and how man
treats it presently, without much care. She also says the blades of grass are still with us , as she
remembers that we still have grass and expresses gratitude. The last stanza is clearly a warning where
she says that so far we have destroyed nature carelessly and for fun, but we have already

abilities, making them easy to train.
B. History Origin
According to Wikipedia, for many years, it was assumed that the Golden Retrievers had descended

Size, Coat and Grooming
When it comes to taking care of your canine, you cannot undermine their furriness. Golden Retrievers
have a dense, water repellent outer coat with a thicker under coat. Their coats come in all shades of
golden, ranging from light to dark. While some golden retrievers have are wavy coats, some have
incredibly straight coats.
Grooming
These puppies shed moderately during the winter but quite heavily during the fall and spring. If you
wish to adopt a Golden Retriever, you will just have to get accustomed to a certain amount of dog hair
around your house and on your clothes. Rest assured, these furry pals are worth the trouble with their
friendly and calm demeanor. Because of their thick coats, this breed requires considerable grooming.
Brush your pet s fur every day to prevent tangling. If you are unable to brush them regularly, find a
way to do it at least once a week.
Bathing
As far as bathing its concerned, wash your pet at least once a month or more often to help them look
shiny and clean.

cycle of nature, with a background featuring distinctive seasonal features, which communicates the
mood of each season. In the Seasons, Mucha uses nature, wildlife and women as subtle metaphors for
life, death and rebirth: his spiritual philosophy was beginning to emerge. Mucha chose to produce the

The translucent white dress is a metaphor for virginity. As she stands beneath blossoming tree, the
blossom flowers appear in her hair symbolises the potential of new life. In her hand she holds a branch
fashioned into a lyre. Three small birds sit on the lyre the use of birds in each season is one of the
consistent metaphors in these paintings. The Four Seasons: Summer (1896) With a delicate
background of blue sky, Mucha portrays Summer as a sultry brunette sunbathing in the glorious
sunshine. Lounging among red poppies, Summer leans against a grapevine, splashing her feet in the
shallow pool beneath. This serene image, and the metaphor for adulthood, is loved by many people.
The Four Seasons: Autumn (1896) Autumn is represented as a playful and bountiful figure. Set
amongst a rich tapestry of autumnal plants, fruits and flowers, her long auburn hair holds a wreath of
chrysanthemums. She gathers grapes from an abundant vine; a metaphor for the bountiful supplies that

Examples Of Crime And Custom In Savage Society
Crime and Custom in Savage Society. By Bronislaw Malinowski. London: Kegan Paul, Trench,

Crime and Custom in Savage Society is a study about clear cut concept of civil and criminal law as
well as social and economic order of Trobriand Islanders. This book is a small volume but, it is very
useful and valuable in the study of discipline like Social Anthropology and Sociology. This book is an
outcome of field work conducted at Trobriand Islands and all information s are vivid and realistic.
The book has two parts, the first is primitive law and order and second part is primitive crime and its
punishment. In the first part, there are thirteen chapters. In this part, the author want to shows about
the civil and criminal law of savage society and legal relations of these savage communities with their
economic, marriage and religious etc. in their daily life. In savage society there is no civil law but
customs is their law. They strictly obey and follow their customs. In savage society the main elements
of jurisprudence are group responsibilities, religious sanction, supernatural penalties, solidarity, taboo

Yeast Concentration Lab Report
In the standard protocol with only glucose and yeast, Figure 1 indicates that Tube 3 with the most
yeast concentration has the greatest values, and tube 2 which has 1.4% yeast produces less CO2. From
the data collected it can be concluded glucose and yeast is necessary in the production of , which
agrees with the equation for glycolysis since glucose is the sugar that supplies the energy and yeast is
the substance that performs the cycle. The higher concentration of yeast will result in more CO2since
there is more substance to undergo glycolysis which produces CO2. As shown from Figure 1, the
tubes that did not have any yeast or glucose resulted in no production of CO2 since they are missing
factors to undergo glycolysis, and since they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, with the additional fructose, it was hypothesized to cause a faster rate of fermentation of the
yeast, yet the standard protocol with fructose was shown to be significantly faster with a rate of 0.3
while fructose was 0.00001. However, the results do agree with the background information found
since it has been hypothesized that the yeast may be destroyed by the toxicity because fructose
decreased the tolerance for ethanol in yeast (Francisco Javier De la Torre Gonzalez Jose). It also
supports the experiment performed by Zinnai, Venturi and others, they found that metabolization of
glucose is preferred over fructose (Zinnai, Venturi, Sanmartin, Quartacci, Andrich, 2013). Our results
adds onto previous experiments and supports their findings which lead the conclusions found one step
closer to being defined and completely explained since it is important to do further research after only
one experiment to ensure that it is accurate and precise. Nonetheless, both experiments do support the
conclusion that yeast concentration is positively correlation with production of CO2 since even though
with fructose, the rate was significantly slower, it was still

New Teacher Orientation And Mentoring
New Teacher Orientation Mentoring
What practices are currently in place? At the MCIU, Dr. Donna Gaffney, Director of Professional
Learning is charged with designing and implementing a teacher induction program for all staff
including both teaching and non teaching professionals. During an employee s first year of service, he
or she must attend five orientation meetings, three of which are with the whole organization and two
of which are department specific. This allows trainings to target the direct needs of the new employee.
The is allotted for these meets cannot extend over 7.5 hours due to the current union contract (D.
Gaffney, personal communication, January 28, 2016).
In additional to induction meetings, a well established mentorship program is at work for MCIU
employees. Each newly hired candidate is linked with a VIP or Volunteer Induction Profession (This
name is somewhat ironic as mentors do receive a stipend for their participation.). After receiving
training and being approved by Dr. Gaffney, mentors are linked new employees by department. In
addition to meetings with a mentor, a new candidate must take two observation days during the course
of his or her first year. One, observing the mentor and another which selected by the mentee. Both
mentee and mentor progress is surveyed twice throughout the year to ensure goals are being meet and
proper support is being provided.
In addition to their own induction program. the IU is sometime contracted to hold

The Commissioning Of The Twelve
Vincent DiRienzo
Religion 409
Commissioning the Twelve
The commissioning of the twelve is a very special passage which tells of the apostles meaning and
what they must do. The passage is number 58 which spans Matthew 9:35 10:16, Mark 6:6, Luke 9:1
and Luke 10:1 12. This passage is an interesting one in terms of its reading. Not only does each
passage have its own meaning and information, we have two Luke passages in a single read, each one
having its own wording which I will go into later.
First passage we have Matthew who starts the passage off with Jesus going through all the cities and
villages teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven,
curing every disease and every sickness in sight. Jesus came upon a crowd and he looked at them with
compassion for they were being harassed like a sheep without a shepherd . He then went to his
disciples and said The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest to send
out laborers into his harvest. Jesus called upon his disciples and gave them the authority of unclean
spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. It then states the names of the
twelve disciples going from Simon, known as peter to Judas the betrayer. Jesus then gave the twelve
specific instructions Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, The kingdom

The Importance Of A Simple War Game On A Grid
Description: In this project, I paired up with Ryan Thomson to design a game with about 15 minute
time limit. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up
with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we
played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that
playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve
on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear
rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure
on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board
games. It has grid on board, and all the objects can move along with the line in many directions.

How Does Darcy Present Elizabeth In Pride And Prejudice
Elizabeth is an interesting individual not because she is a natural beauty and possesses almost all of
the qualities that a man wants but because she wants to marry for love and not money. Elizabeth does
have flaws however, one being that when she doesn t want to listen or believe something or someone,
she pretends she doesn t understand what the facts are and is very stubborn once she dislikes someone.
Elizabeth first meets Mr. Darcy at a ball and because of his poor manners, and expectations of women,
she automatically takes a dislike to him. However, throughout the novel, Elizabeth becomes more
intrigued with Mr. Darcy and eventually sees a different side of him. There are many incidences in the
story that show Elizabeth s dislike for Darcy because of his pride starting with their encounter at the

Elizabeth begins to see a new side of Darcy and couldn t think of living a life without him by the end

Sufism Is The Meaning Of Mysticism
INTRODUCTION TO SUFISM
The term Sufism is a very broad, paradoxical term because it has many connotations placing it within
the wider sphere of polemics is a somewhat difficult activity. From the view of Islamic theologians,
tradionalists and Non Islamic scholars have much debated the areas of Islam, Sufism and mysticism.
In this essay, the meaning of Sufism and the meaning of Mysticism, and whether the two complement
each other or whether they are in fact, complete opposite. It will also be discussed whether Sufism has
a Mystical element if it fits into Islamic religion. An analysis of what Sufism means to a Non Muslim

A very lucid description would be something of a spiritual reality pr not of this world which could be
described as having some kind of communication with God or a divine being.
What is meant by Sufism? As mentioned in the introduction, Sufism is a difficult word to employ,
because first and foremost to understand whether it is a mystical reality or not, and secondly to define
what it is in its actual sense has yet to be given as a definitive answer. For different individuals,
Sufism means different things. For Alan Godlas, the author of Sufism has many paths has said that
Sufism is defined by its adherents to be that inner mystical dimension is Islam. For others such as
Anne Marie Schimmell as a Non Muslim academic and one who wrote extensively on Islamic
Mysticism, Such is the case with Sufism, the generally accepted name for Islamic Mystiscm. Yet for
the sake of brevity, Sufism is viewed to be either the path that one walks on to be free of all sins, or to
gain a closer relationship with an ultimate reality, which is God. In its early stages of development,
Sufism referred to nothing but the internationalization of Islam. According to

Disaster Of A Subduction Zone
1. Introduction On Friday March 11th, 2011 at 2:46 pm, the fifth largest earthquake recorded since
1900 with a magnitude of 9.0, 1.7 Richter scale points greater than the devastating Vancouver Island
earthquake of 1946, struck the coast of Japan, 231 miles northeast of Tokyo1, causing a devastating
regional and global catastrophe.
1.1 Megathrust Earthquakes Megathrust earthquakes are defined as interplate earthquakes caused by
one tectonic plate being forced under another in a subduction zone. During the lifetime of a
subduction zone, two plates are constantly moving towards each other, and due to the great amount of
friction, these plates get stuck in various areas 2 (fig 1). Due to the build up of stress in these areas, the
plates eventually unlock and release a great amount of energy, resulting in a megathrust earthquake2.
1.2 Tsunamis Since these earthquakes are caused by tectonic plate movement therefore displacing the
ocean floor they are almost always accompanied by massive ocean waves, sometimes reaching heights
of over 100 ft and reaching speeds of 500 mph, known as seismic sea waves or more commonly
known as Tsunamis4. Alongside the catastrophic events that megathrust earthquakes ensue on an
affected region these colossal Tsunami waves further destruct costal lines in their path, sometimes
reaching many miles inland.

The During The Elizabethan Era Essay
The Elizabethan theater became a central part of social life in Shakespeare s time and was a form of
entertainment that took people s minds off the daily hardships during the Elizabethan era. The
Elizabethan era is known for its English nationalism and advancements of arts during the English
Renaissance. Because of this, the Elizabethan era is considered to be the height of the English
Renaissance.
England s working class had a difficult life. Powerful lords owned and governed local districts that
were usually made up of a few hundred peasants. Nearly 95 percent of England s population lived in
these types of districts. Almost all of the labor was performed by the peasant farmers. They farmed
about one third of the land for the local lord, a portion for the local church, and the rest for their own
usage. They typically worked from sunup to sundown and their daily lives were regulated by the
different growing seasons. They rarely traveled beyond their own village. The sick and elderly relied
greatly on the kindness of their local lord for survival. The death rate was high and life expectancy
was low because of frequent outbreaks of the plague. The life of a peasant was usually fairly stable but
there was almost no chance of escaping the rut of belonging to this class of people from one
generation to the next.
Elizabethan entertainment was important to people who lived in the Elizabethan era. People used
forms of Elizabethan entertainment whenever there was something to

The British And The American Colonies
History 2.1
What Lead to the Fractured Relationship Between the British and the American Colonies Prior to the
Boston Massacre?
Following Britain s success in the Seven Years War and the signing of a Peace with France in 1763
Britain gained control of all territory east of the Mississippi in North America. From all of this there
was a cost; the war left Britain with large military expenses debts and additional expenses of an
enlarged empire. At an attempt to solve this problem, the politicians in Britain decided to exploit the
colonial tax revenues in order to pay off the debts and increased expenses.
Britain began to tighten control in the colonies in 1763 by stooping migration of settlers westward,
this had resulted in expensive and bloody Indian wars, something that the British currently did not
need. It also allowed the British to keep control of a smaller land mass and thus make it easier to keep
an eye on all colonists. Colonial trade was tightened and colonial taxation was increased. Central
power was increased and the power of colonial assemblies decreased.
The British first brought in the Sugar Act. The Act taxed the finer things and more luxurious items
such as wine, silk, and coffee. It was the first attempt from the British to exploit colonial tax revenue
to aid the British need. Opposition from the colonies was immediate. The revenue Act was introduced
the same year meaning the British could tax the colonies to improve the revenue of the Kingdom . The

Stockholm Syndrome Theory
The Role of the Stockholm syndrome Theory in relation to attachment in Emotional Abuse:
Stockholm Syndrome is a paradoxical phenomenon that occurred on August 23, 1973 by a 32 year old
career criminal Jan Erik Olsson and his partner. It occurred at the Svergis Kredit Bank, Sweden where
four employees were held hostage for 131 hours. According to Doyle (2002) it became clear that
during the siege, the hostages, despite being law abiding citizens, were more afraid of the police than
they were of their captors, and subsequently defended the robbers. In kidnap and hostage situations,

Those that show resistance often have a strong value system or an alternative model of behaviour to
which they cling tenaciously. Similarly, children who are subjected to mistreatment at the hands of a
newly arrived step parent, or who have other positive influences, may resist and complain because
they know there are alternative forms of parental behaviour (Doyle, 2002). Strenz (1980) noted that
the Stockholm syndrome is likely to be absent when captors showed no kindness towards their
victims. He states that those victims who had negative contacts with the subjects did not evidence
concern for them... some of these victims had been physically abused by the subjects. They obviously
did not like their abuse and advocated the maximum penalty be imposed (p.143). Abusive children
may not feel any loyalty and affection for the parent who is constantly abusive but may feel indifferent
to the other. Dorothy Bloch (1979) noted, In no case did the child feel loved by either parent...with

Alienation In The Misanthrope
According to Florencia, the play The Misanthrope is very contemporary because the story revolves
around the feeling of rejection towards society and almost everything that surrounds it. Also, she
added the subsequent isolation that a person feels. It happens all the time. People tend to hate the
people around them yet, they can t stand that deep loneliness they find. People will have different
perceptions why they would experience such situation. Some would believe that they are indeed
cursed or have been hit by karma and then kind of give up, accepting that miserable existence. They
might accept it until they find that special someone that dislikes that side of the world, too. That What!
You too? I thought that no one but myself... moment. Or they die alone, whatever comes first. No
matter the time or place, some people feel like outcasts, and that brings the issue of alienation. Other
people would start to look at them like the personification of abnormality. Like human beings that just
hate humanity for the hell of it. Like misanthropes.
Moreover, Florencia said that the book was an insightful play about the essence of human nature, our

Address, Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so
conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. Lincoln s sentiments express the longstanding tension
between the North and the South about state s rights and slavery. Both of these causes sparked the
Federalist vs. Antifederalist debates, Abolitionist Movement, and Dred Scott decision that ultimately
fueled the divide that started the civil war. The issue of states rights was the main difference between
the Federalist and Anti Federalist views, and its divergence led to the fundamentally opposing views
of the north and south. The population of the northern states consisted mainly of Federalists who
believed that it is clearly within the provision [of the Constitution] which authorizes the making of all
needful rules and regulations concerning the property of the United States, as the same has been
practiced upon by the Government . This view suggests that politicians could make laws and
regulations based on implied powers of the Constitution, or non explicitly stated powers. With this
right, the Federalists believed it was in the best interest of the country to make a national bank that the
national government would control. The bank would consolidate all debts from each of the individual
colonies and compile a large national debt. This would benefit the Northern states

Mental Health Is A Never Ending Concern For The American...
Mental Health is a never ending concern for the American population due to the lack of data. This lack
of date fails to give accurate information and better understanding on seeing how suffers of mental
health illness is being addressed. Due to the unpredictability of when a mental illness may strike
would be the leading factor to fully link how to predict and quickly find corrective resources to better
educated, or reach the right people to better manage their mental health. Therefore, many communities
suffer from mental health illness and like the Native American, and Alaskan Native it has become an
epidemic and concern. The Native American Population in the states are twice at high risk with mental
health and go untreated, leading to high rate of suicides and attempts on American soil.
Health issues and population
Native American and Alaskan Natives are victims of this slightly unpredictable disease. Native
Americans and Alaskan Natives together make up one third of United States youth population. They
play a big role in American youth and Native American/Alaskan Natives score the highest with
suicidal deaths in the United States. They are the only population in the nation that have not received
any relief, or focus on preventing suicides and treating mental health. According to Alcantara, C.,
Gone, J.P., (2007). Nonetheless, this newfound emphasis on suicide prevention efforts has been slow
to reach the Native American communities at highest risk, and hopeful

The Origins and Purpose of the Goblin Queen in George...
The Origins and Purpose of the Goblin Queen in George MacDonald´s the Princess and the Goblin
Whatever the purpose of a story may be, whether the tale is a philosophical, moralizing or merely
entertaining one, an assortment of characters with sufficient depth, notability and believability is vital
to shoulder the burden of the author s intent. George MacDonald, in one of his most famous novels,
The Princess and the Goblin, displays an acute awareness of this fact, presenting us with some of the
most colorful and unforgettable characters seen in children s literature. When considering the
exceptional imagination MacDonald infused into his story and characters, it is little wonder that The
Princess and the Goblin is considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditionally, goblins or hobgoblins are generally creatures associated with a single household, who
performs ... services for the family to whom he attaches himself (Keightly, 239). This is usually after
some inconvenient trials placed upon the family by the goblin, such as sawdust in the house or dirt in
the milk, all to test the disposition of the family and their recognition of the goblin s partial claim to
the household (Keightly, 239). It is clear that this traditional goblin hardly fits the description of
MacDonald s more menacing, subterranean goblin, and it has been suggested that the dwarf in folklore
better describes this type of creature (Morris). Dwarves are a subterranean race [that] has no proper
communication with mankind, who accomplish their business in the night, and not by the day
(Keightly, 217). This nearly echoes The Princess and the Goblin, where the goblins had all taken
refuge in the subterranean caverns, whence they never came out but at night, and them seldom showed
themselves in any numbers (MacDonald, 12). MacDonald s goblins also show the natural
mischievousness of dwarves who had a propensity to thieving ... even women and children, which
fueled the goblin s desire to kidnap Princess Irene.
It is from clear which traditions MacDonald has drawn in the creation of his species. Ironically,
however, the queen of the goblins is decidedly ungoblin like, even among the race of humanoids in

Language Techniques In The Turning By Tim Winton
The award winning Australian author, Tim Winton s recent collection of seventeen short stories The
Turning provides a perceptive and pleasurable reading experience, compressed within one novel.
These overlapping and linking stories explore the extraordinary turning points in ordinary people s
lives as stunning portraits of a small coastal community. Winton utilises varieties of language and
formal techniques such as, theme, character and setting, to effectively engage and discover the central
characters of The Turning . Winton s use of different language techniques, and distinctive texts,

wild lupins and estuary mud (p.g 37). In the first pages of this chapter I, was a young boy who played
with the Box kids across the street and they were Catholics who all smelled the same. The Joneses,
were Aboriginals who didn t need to keep up with complicated situations, but were always angry, dark
and loud. This chapter involves information about a character who was a child, who passed a remote
lagoon and swampland everyday on his way to school, and eventually gained the courage to explore
within the depth of the location. At attempting to unlock this secret passage, it included many secrets
and mysteries that needed to be discovered. By reading Aquifer , this brought the characters to a place
that they felt immediately in connection with, this included memories that were buried in their past
that they have shaped and now believe that they are today. Winton s exploration of the way that the

Essay on Recidivism Rates
Lower education rates will raise recidivism rates because many prisoners who lack education and re
enter society will not be self sufficient as education provides the basis for employment.

Introduction Before understanding the research to be conducted, one must understand the who, what,
when, and why of the issue. Many people know and understand that with a better education they will
have a better chance in succeeding in the business world. Getting a good paying job without an
education is very difficult to do. Those in prison have it even harder, not only do they lack the
necessary education; they also have a criminal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Bureau of Justice Statistics (2012), Recidivism is measured by criminal acts that resulted
in the rearrests, reconviction, or return to prison with or without a new sentence during a three year
period following the prisoner s release (Recidivism, par. 1).
If the hypothesis is confirmed the theory will suggest that the lower the education level of an
individual, the more apt that individual is to having a hard time finding work. If an individual, who
has been to prison or jail, gets released into society with a low education level they will have a hard
time finding a job. If this individual cannot find a job they will most likely turn to crime to get money
to support themselves or their families, thus proving that the lower the education rate the higher the
recidivism rate is.
If the hypothesis is not confirmed it will suggest that there is no connection between education levels
and recidivism rates back into jail or prison. If not proved the hypothesis will also show that
individuals released back into society turn back to crime for other reasons and not anything to do with
their education levels, thus proving that education levels have no effect on recidivism rates.
Background/Literature review Recidivism is the result of a former prisoner relapsing into criminal
activity and returning to prison for a new offense. It is estimated that approximately two thirds of

The European Influence On Indigenous Hawaiian Culture
After the European influence upon indigenous Hawaiian culture, Hawaiians radically reinterpreted
and transformed their culture... part of this transformation was the abandonment of the kapu system in
1819. The meaning of the organization of architecture no longer reflects upon ideology of the
Hawaiians, but the adaptation of more technological advanced living space. As a result, many temples
were dismantled or destroyed, leaving only he foundation stones (Ladegoged, #).
John Young and Isaac Davis built the first Western style building, Kailua Kona, in Hawaii in 1795.
Afterwards, three more brick palaces were constructed in Lahaina. These designs were very much like
the Lahaina prison shown in previous pages. Even though Western brick houses slowly became
predominant, traditional grass hale were still prevalent, though adobe and coral block houses were
also being built near Honolulu harbor ( Hawaii History ).
Another significant step towards a new era for Hawaiian architecture was Mr Isaac Davies house. The
interior of the house was similar to aboriginal Hawaiian house clusters; however, the exterior also
began to change, a step that King Kamehameha was not willing to take. Different form King
Kamehameha s house was that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

local houses used material found in Hawaii but with more Western elements incorporated into the
design of architecture, for example windows, high ceilings and large portal entrances ( Hawaii

The Challenges Of Adversity And Diversity In The Workplace
In recent years, diversity and inclusion have emerged as an essential business practice. Why are
diversity and inclusion so critical to organizations nowadays? Do they really help organizations
achieve better results? Why is it a unique issue in the 21st century workplace? To answer these
questions, organizations should look into factors such as globalization. Globalization increases
interactions around the world and diversifies the profile of the workforce, which also contributes to
the changing composition of the current workforce. While globalization offers extensive opportunities
for organizations, it also imposes many challenges that require new responses. Organizations are not
only looking for ways to effectively manage a diverse workforce but also to leverage it to achieve
better outcomes. As diversity and inclusion gain more attention in the society, more research has been
done on their impact to organizations. Not too long ago, organizations implemented diversity
management initiatives, such as affirmative action and equal employment legislations, just to fulfill
their legal requirements (Jayne and Dipboye, 2004). However, diversity and inclusion have since then
become a business imperative. Are diversity and inclusion the same? They seem to go hand in hand,
but they are actually two different notions that need to be addressed separately. While diversity
recognizes that each individual is different from one and another, and that such differences must be

Junie B Jones Banned
The Junie B. Jones series, written by Barbara Park, follows a lively school girl on her journey through
life. As most kids are, Junie B. Jones is a little bit naughty at times. Her bad behavior earned Barbara
Park a spot on the Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books: 2000 2009, therefore robbing children of the
opportunity to enjoy an entertaining book and to learn a valuable lesson through the lovable main
character.
Why do certain people rule over what each child can and cannot read? Is that not the parents job to
determine whether or not is it appropriate for their child? When a book is considered banned, parents,
teachers, and librarians are discouraged from providing the book to their children. Many of these
adults then disapprove of the book without even reading it. Junie B. Jones is thrown from the realm of
possibility for many children just because the loveable character has some flaws. Junie B. Jones is
constantly getting herself into trouble. She is faced with a problem and inevitably makes the wrong
choice every time, but in every instance she is punished for her actions and learns a lesson about what

Jones embarks on countless adventures, learning new things every step of the way. Every child is
bound to connect with her through one of her challenges, whether it be adding a sibling to the family

the Stupid Smelly Bus, dealing with a crush in Junie B. Jones Loves Handsome Warren, or any of the
other obstacles she encounters in the remaining twenty five books. Junie B. Jones should be read by
all children at some point in their childhood, not just because she s entertaining, but because she ends
up teaching the reader a lesson too. While the series should not be banned at all, if a child is not
allowed to read a book it should be because the parental figure deemed it inappropriate, not some

A Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Of Nebraska Deq, The Papio...
Due to results from a sanitary sewer evaluation of the Nebraska DEQ, the Papio Branch water
treatment plant s (WTP) must place a permanent flow meter at the site of the discharge point where
flow is outputting to the reservoir.
The discharge (decant flow) flow in the pipe varies from continuous to intermittent through the 10
inch gravity ductile iron pipe that is a free fall discharge into the reservoir. The discharge point is a
concrete headwall where the Doppler wave meter will be placed permanently.
A temporary Teledyne Isco 2150 flow meter was placed at the site of the discharge for a period of 24
hours to determine the performance of a meter at the site as well as evaluate current flow conditions.
The temporary metering was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2: Teledyne Isco Signature Flow Meter Diagram
The basics needed in order to install the area velocity signature meter are the meter module, a cable,
probe, band, screws/mounting devices, power supply, and outputs. The prices listed below are quotes
from a Teledyne Isco sales representative.
Signature Area Velocity flow meter system: starts at $3,700 o This includes the meter, the sensor, a
32.8 foot cable, a manual, and a pocket guide. The price may change if other options are added.
Sensor carrier for attachment to the mounting rings: $50
Spring Ring for a 10 inch pipe: $91
8 foot power cord: $25
Analog 4 20mA output with two channels: $310
Internal seven digit mechanical totalizer: $115 o Total (minimum for all listed options): $4,291
If the pipe has silting or ragging issues, then a Laser Flow Meter should be used instead of the Area
Velocity meter. The Laser Flow meter is a non contact Doppler meter that provides all of the same
information as the area velocity meter without having a sensor in the water. The benefit of this would
be if the pipe has ragging issues or there is a lot of silting/debris that could potentially get stuck on the
probe and cause the probe to not read the way it should be. This is a much more expensive option it
would provide data without the worry of silt/debris or ragging of the pipe getting in the way. Costs for
this type of meter are listed below.
Signature Laser Flow meter system: starts at $9,750 o This includes

Congenital Disorders With Intellectual Disability
Chapter Five
5. Discussion
Congenital disorders with intellectual disability (ID) constitute a particularly significant medical
problem because of the high prevalence and life long care that patients will need. The extreme genetic
heterogeneity of ID is a major problem for pre and postnatal diagnosis. In some cases, however, early
detection of a mutation may be important to prevent the manifestation of the handicap (Avbelj et al.
2007). Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the most frequent causes of preventable ID, which
can be averted by administering thyroid hormone in early postnatal life. This is achieved by newborn
screening detection.
Congenital hypothyroidism fulfills most of the criteria for disease screening as set out by Wilson and
Jungner (Wilson and Jungner 1968), in fact CH is four to five times more common than
Phenylketonuria for which newborn screening was initially developed (Chiesa, Rivolta, Targovnik,
Gruneiro Papendieck 2010).
Detection of CH by neonatal screening has been a major achievement because early diagnosis and
treatment result in normal development in nearly all cases. An additional benefit of neonatal screening
has been the elucidation of the incidence of CH as well as the prevalence of its various causes.
The incidence rate of CH is approximately 1 of 3000/4000 new births worldwide (Calaciura, Miscio,
Coco, Leonardi, Cisternino, Regalbuto, Bozzali, Maiorana, Ranieri, Carta, Buscema, Trischitta, Sava,
Tassi 2002). However, this

Why The Agent Is Fully Self Owning Essay
Libertarians hold that every agent is fully self owning. Every agent morally owns their own body, just
as they can morally own an inanimate object. A set of five rules comes with full ownership of an
entity. First, they control the right to use of their entity, both a liberty right to use it and a claim right
that others cannot use it (Vallentyne). Second, the agent has the right to compensation if someone else
uses the entity without the agent s explicit permission. Third, the agent has the right to call upon
enforcement rights. Fourth, the right to transfer these rights to another by sale, rent, loan, or gift.
Finally, the agent is immune to non consensual loss of these rights. At the core of the rules of full
ownership is the right to control the use of one s body. This is necessary when considering certain
actions that cannot be done without one s consent, but can be with their consent. Because of an
individual s inherent right to sexual autonomy, they have the right to act how they want with their
body.
Libertarians hold the view that prostitution is an activity between two consenting adults, which should
not be touched by the government or even an organized religion because they consider it to be a
victimless crime . They also they believe that it should not be subject to regulation, even if the act
does not involve love or even if it involves the exchange of money. Prostitution is done with consent,
which signifies that it is a expressions of oneself and the

  • 2. Two Different Types Of Friends As we grow older, we find friends to discover the new stages of life with. Those same friends help define who we are as people. There are five different types of friends that will come and go in our lives. They are wild, dependable, lucky, chill, and funny. All of them add up to one amazing group of best friends. First up is the wild one. They always seems to be getting into trouble. Every once in a while a party opportunity comes up. The wild one takes the first chance they get to go. They leave other responsibilities behind and procrastinate to the last minute. Grades do not seem to be their number one priority in life. However, getting a high score on a video game is on the top of their to do list, and they may disregard other, more important tasks just to achieve it. Eventually, they will ask for your homework to double check their answers. We all know they just forgot to do the assignment. Every so often they remind us it is okay to have a little fun in our lives. Maybe that is the reason they are one of our best friends. Next up is the complete opposite of the wild one, which would be the dependable one. They are designated as the mom of the group. Not only do they write things down in a planner, but they will follow their scribbles as if it were laws etched on a stone tablet by Moses. It is their guide to life. Instead of procrastinating, they will have the assignment done a week in advance. When it comes to studying, they make flashcards and study ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Using Two Transmit Diversity Scheme 1.2 LITERATURE REVIEW [1]S. M. Alamouti, describes a simple two branch transmit diversity scheme. Using two transmit antenna and one receive antenna, the new transmit antenna provides the same diversity order as maximal ratio receiver combining (MRRC) with one transmit and two receive antennas. The scheme easily be generated to two transmit antenna and M receive antenna to provide a diversity order of 2M. This scheme does not require any bandwidth expansion any feedback from the receiver to the transmitter and its computation complexity is similar to MRRC. This also provide diversity improvement to all the remote units in a wireless system, using two transmit antennas at the base station instead of two receive antenna at all the remote terminals. [2]Vahid Tarokh, proposed that data is encoded by a channel code and encoded data is split into n streams that are simultaneously transmitted using n transmit antennas. The received signal at the each receive antenna is a linear superposition of the n transmitted perturbed by noise. The code constructed here provides the best trade off between data rate, diversity advantage, and trellis complexity. Maximum likelihood decoding is achieved in a simple way through decoupling of the signal transmitted from different antennas rather than joint detection and significant gain can be achieved by using the increasing number of transmit chains with the very little decoding complexity. • 4. Characterization of Death in Dickinson s Poetry CHARACTERIZATION OF DEATH IN DICKINSON S POETRY Emily Dickinson had a sad life full with tragic experiences and its influences on her poetry can be seen in most of her works. During her life, she struggled with traumatic effects of a succession of deaths and due to this situation she spend the later half of her years in grief. The tragic deaths of people close to Dickinson have affected her writing and style of expression, in which death became a persisting theme of her poetry. Even though most of her poems consist directly on the subject death , she also used unusual ways to write about this theme, by writing about immortality as a state of consciousness in an everlasting present. A typical example can be seen in her poems Because I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the family of the narrator is there to say goodbye to their loved one for the last time as she dying in her bed. For any human being, a moment such as this one is supposed to be a vital and most solemn time; however instead of reflecting the melancholy of this moment, Dickinson wrote that there is a fly buzzing around the room. Actually, this fly causes stealing the leading role of the show and gets everyone s notice, as the room, Was like the Stillness in the Air / Between the Heaves of Storm, (3 4). The narrator feels mainly bothered at this interruption; hence, as inexplicable as death is, there are some hopes, such as seeing a brilliant white glow upon walking into heaven or seeing God, so far the narrator only hears a fly buzzing, no light, no salvation, no God. The next stanza is about the family s enduring by waiting for her death. The dying woman portrays them as, The Eyes around had wrung them dry, (5). Her family members are only waiting at this moment, because they have cried as much as they may possibly cry over losing a beloved one. In the lines For that last Onset when the King / Be witnessed in the Room, (7 8), Dickinson points out an irony by using the words that last Onset . Last clearly signifies an end at the same time as onset stands for a beginning . This irony involving the two contexts cannot be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On Path Loss Model Several existing path loss models exist as discussed above among other ones, but the best existing path loss model with the closest propagation exponent [36], to the measured path loss data, will be chosen as a reference for the development of the adapted path loss model for a particular environment. Many related research works have been done in this area. In [37] path loss models were presented from experimental data collected in Port Harcourt South South region of Nigeria from 10 existing microcells operating at 876MHz. The path loss models for the urban and the suburban areas of Port Harcourt were developed from the results of the measurements. The authors used the Transverse Electromagnetic Wave (TEMS) Investigation Application software programmed in a Laptop to gather data. The Radio Propagation Simulator (TEMS) was deployed to record the base station and each test point coordinates (latitudes and longitudes), together with the Received Signal Strength (RSS) in which the TEMS serves as the Mobile Unit, for this purpose. In each of the three sectors of the six (6) targets Base Transmitting Stations, Ten (10) different Received Power measurements were conducted. Variances were observed in the measurements, at the same distance in the different sectors for all the BTSs which signifies different levels of clutter on the Propagation path. The path loss exponent, n, was derived statistically through the application of linear regression analysis technique by minimising in a mean square sense, the difference between the Measured Path Loss and the Predicted Path Loss. The Receive Signal Strength (RSS) measurements were applied to determine the Path Loss that characterize Enugu Urban environment. V. • 6. Wilhelm Rontgen and the Nobel Prize Essay Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was born on March 27, 1845 in Lennep, Prussia; which is now Remscheid, Germany. His family moved to Apeldoorn in the Netherlands, where we went to Institute of Martinus Herman van Doorn, a boarding school. He did not show any special aptitude, but he had a fascination with nature and loved roaming the countryside and walking through forests. Later he attended a technical school in Utrecht, but unfortunately was unfairly expelled for allegedly drawing a rude caricature of one of the teachers, which was in fact drawn by another student. He then entered the University of Utrecht in 1865 to study physics. He did not have the required credentials to enter the University, but he heard he could enter by passing an exam. He ... It was later called Roentgen Rays although changed back to X Ray . With his new discovery, he found that the rays would travel through human tissue, but leave a shadow of bone and metal behind. One of his first experiments was on his wife Bertha s hand with a ring on her finger in 1895. Medical X rays work by letting fast moving electrons come to a sudden stop on a metal plate. They show up different on the radiograph because of different absorption rates of different material. The calcium in bones absorb the most x rays so they appear white on a radiograph, or the film x rays are displayed on, although other things like tissue, fat and skin absorb it less so they appear grey. Air absorbs the least x rays so this is why lungs look completely black on a radiograph. Todays x ray machines are much faster, more efficient and produce much less harmful radiation. Excessive exposure to x rays can be dangerous but in modern medicine doctors are able to keep us safe with their knowledge on this. The original x ray machine took 90 minutes and produced 1500 times the radiation as modern x rays. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen has made a huge impact on todays technology. It s obvious to see that inventing the x ray is a big deal, but this was actually a very big accomplishment and made a lot of new things possible. Without the x ray our ability in the medical world would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Antibiotic Resistance In Antibiotics A serious public health problem is the rise in antibiotic resistance. Some bacteria that can cause serious disease are becoming resistant to most commonly available antibiotics. Antibiotic medications are used to kill bacteria, which can cause disease and illness. A major contribution to human health is antibiotic medication. Many diseases that once killed people in the past can now be treated effectively with antibiotics. However, it has come to the surface that some bacteria have become resistant to commonly used antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant bacteria are bacteria that are not controlled or killed by antibiotics. They can multiply and even survive in the presence of an antibiotic. Most infection causing bacteria can become resistant to at least some antibiotics. Bacteria that are resistant to many antibiotics are known as multi resistant organisms (MRO). (Antibiotic Resistant bacteria, 2017) In the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, S. aureus developed resistance to penicillin. Methicillin, a form of penicillin, was introduced to counter the increasing problem of penicillin resistant S. aureus. At this time Methicillin was one of most common types of antibiotics used to treat S. aureus infections; but in 1961, British scientists identified the first strains of S. aureus bacteria that resisted methicillin. This was the so called birth of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It was not until 1968 that the first reported human case of MRSA in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maybe you ve thought about getting one. Well before you head down to the nearest tattoo shop and roll up your sleeve, there are a few things you need to know. So You Ask, What Exactly is a Tattoo? Although it looks a lot cooler than a big scab, a new tattoo is also a wound and like any other scrape, puncture, cut or penetration to your skin, a tattoo is at risk for infections and disease. You need to make sure you are up to date with your immunizations (especially hepatitis and tetanus shots) and plan where you will get medical care if your new tattoo does become infected. Signs of infection include excessive redness or tenderness, prolonged bleeding, pus, or changes in your skin color around the tattoo. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, allergies, diabetes, skin disorders or any condition that affects your immune system or are prone to infections, you should ask your doctor before deciding to get a tattoo. Also, if you are prone to getting keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue in the area of the wound), it s probably best to avoid getting a tattoo altogether. Avoiding Infection It s very important to make sure the tattoo studio is clean and safe, and that all equipment is disposable (needles, gloves, masks, etc.) and that everything is sterilized. You can call your state, county, or local health department to ask for recommendations on licensed tattoo shops, or to ask about any complaints about a particular studio. • 9. The Religion of Sikhism Sikhism is the youngest of the world s five great monotheistic religions. In 1801, the Sikh state was founded in Northern India by Maharaja Ranjit Singh based on the teachings of Guru Nanak, who is also the founder. The teachings of Sikhism are summed up by Guru Nanak in these words: Realization of truth is higher than all else. Higher still is truthful living (Teece). Sikhs have a variety of teachings in their culture and religion, but the ones I found emphasized the principles of equality of all humans and rejection of discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, and gender. Like other religious founders, Guru Nanak was fascinated by God and religion and starting at a young age he did not participate in religious rituals and often meditated alone. As a young man, he took many missionary trips because of his desire to explore and gain knowledge. There is one primary source of scripture for the Sikhs, the Guru Granth Sahib or the Adi Granth. The two texts are used interchangeably, and the Guru Granth Sahib can be called the first volume. However, the two books have different compilations. The first, Adi Granth, was created by Guru Arjan in 1604 and the Guru Granth Sahib was later compiled by Guru Gobind Singh. Who and what is a Sikh? The word Sikh in the Punjabi language means disciple . Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus. • 10. Essay Comparing The Marriage Of Figaro And Twelfth Night A common discussion between the sexes is the omnipotent power that men seem to hold over women in all societies. Why do men always have the social advantage over women? Both Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro show that there is indeed a social stigma placed on women where women are not allowed as much freedom to either fight back against a suitor or choose not to accept a suitor s love and choose another. Shakespeare s Twelfth Night focuses mainly on the negative stigmas against women, while Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro places most of the blame for perpetuating the stigmas on the aristocracy, especially the men within the aristocracy (i.e. the Count). Both texts examine the social role women play in society, and both texts critique the societal norms that restrict women. To begin, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Towards the beginning, Suzanne expresses her dislike of the positioning of her and Figaro s bedroom. She is afraid that the Count will somehow distract Figaro enough for him to lie with her. The fact that she even considers this a possibility reveals a great problem: in her position as a servant of the aristocracy and as a young woman, Suzanne is likely to fall prey to powerful men, just because they have power over her. The Countess, too, is in a similar position, although she is of the aristocracy. The Countess is held strictly accountable for the rumors that she was engaging in an affair, even though the Count himself is attempting to engage in his own affair with Suzanne. The Count accuses the Countess of unfaithfulness and doesn t even consider that his own attempt at an affair is an account of his own unfaithfulness. Suzanne also encounters this issue when the Count uncovers Cherubin, and Cherubin is discovered in her room: You wanted to be alone so you could receive my page, eh? (Beaumarchais ... • 11. Compare And Contrast Harrison Bergeron And Old Glory Harrison Bergeron and Old Glory are both in the science fiction genre and take place in a future where the government is in full control of everything and everyone. In Harrison Bergeron , everyone is equal and the Handicap General is the person that makes that happen, weather by means of handicaps or being forcing people to wear masks. Harrison Bergeron doesn t like this and tries to put a stop to this but ends up being killed by the Handicap General. Old Glory is about a young boy s grandfather being upset about a new law being passed and tries to protest about it, but similar to Harrison Bergeron, he also ends up getting killed by the government. In Old Glory the main character s great grandfather says, Thirteen stripes, sixty‐two stars, and not a bit of meaning. Also, even though Harrison Bergeron takes place in 2081, it doesn t have as much futuristic advancements as Old Glory , which takes place in 2041. In Harrison Bergeron , George and Hazel still have an old television with a television tube in it, but in Old Glory , people have things called halo sets . The combination of crime and disobedience at such a high rate spelled for the inevitable repeal of Amendment 18, but what were some of the specific factors? This paper will try to examine what led to the passing and repealment of The 18th Amendment + The Volstead Act. In order to understand the problem, we have to first know what caused it. This was a controversial move for the Congress to make, it certainly did not go off without consequences. The Volstead Act, even as concrete as its rules seem, had many loopholes that the American people could abuse. One of the largest and most obvious loopholes was that medicinal alcohol could still be prescribed by physicians. Many people would feign sickness in order to obtain whisky legally and reliably. This caused the sale of medical alcohol to insanely spike in sales, but even with the obvious implications these stats held, the government did not remove whisky as a prescribed medicine. Many farmers would also profit off of alcohol made of grapes and other juices. Since the government couldn t ban fruit juices, they would mix those fruits with a certain dry fruit used to create alcohol. Supplies in which you could easily brew your own alcohol could also be found in common groceries. People even went as far as to joining the congregation to obtain sacramental wine. If one wanted to enjoy their drinking with others, they could just enter one of the many Speakeasies, popping up underground. These secret bars had secret entrances, which could only be accessed with a spoken password. It was said that with every legitimate bar closed, six speakeasies would take it s place. While some made the use of legal loopholes to get their alcohol fix, many turned to crime and subterfuge. People who didn t want to directly get their hands dirty called upon the ... • 14. The Mass Medi The Failure Of The Mass Media The general population consists of seven billion people across the earth. The majority of the individuals partake in receiving knowledge from those whose job it is to relay pertinent day to day information to the general public. This minority is known as the mass media, and it is much larger than simply journalism. The mass media is the newspaper, television, Video games, novels, textbooks, and social media. Essentially any medium that is consumed excessively by the majority public is known as a mass media. The most important of the mass media s is journalism and reporting; the relaying of information from the reporters to the population. For years, controversy was a serious part of the debate for what could not be shown, what could be, how far journalists are allowed to go to get their information. Then, the SPJ: Code of Ethics emerged, giving guidelines for journalists and reporters on how to seize, utilize, and properly report on subjects at hand. However, journalists and reporters time and time again have deserted their code of conduct. For instance, the New Republic s Stephen Glass did this via bypassing fact checkers and creating fictitious news stories. This led to the downfall of the New Republic s reputation, along with ending the career of Stephen Glass. Though the exact same is not being done with reporting politics, their use of power has become an arbitrary system, where they decide what suits their own political standing and showing the information in such a ... Definitions Of A Computer Network Define and explain the following terminologies Computer network: In a computer network, relevant equipment is interconnected through the usage of wires or wireless mechanisms in order to exchange data. In particular, a computer network allows for info and data to be exchanged, at an instance, from one interconnected spot to another. In such case, a client/server system applies; a terminal is directly connected to a relevant local area network (LAN). Such interconnection is highly useful and significant when in need to save cost by sharing a printer, for example, between departments that would need, otherwise, separate printing devices (Kuross Ross, 2005, p.34). Metropolitan area networks (MANs) In a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), parties (i.e. companies, individuals, etc.) can be interconnected with each other and connect to the Internet in an area of up to 50 kilometers. In a MAN, local area networks can be interconnected with a metropolitan area network through appropriate network infrastructure consisting of fiber optic links that allow for fast interconnection between client/server LAN and for a connection to a relevant Internet Service Provider. The usage of a MAN, allows for companies to have access to ISP services and to the software that is being hosted in an ISP although being off site (Kuross Ross, 2005, p.35). Holiday by Margaret Atwood Essay examples Holiday by Margaret Atwood Holiday by Margaret Atwood has a simple and familiar subject but the real meaning behind the simple story is hard hitting and in many ways it is a warning. She talks of a holiday and story shows how she is at a barbeque with her family in the countryside. However she interweaves a bleak image of our future within this straightforward story. It starts of with Atwood describing her daughter eating sausages. She uses the words barbarism and creates an image of burst meat dripping down her chin these words create a very primitive and uncivilized image. She describes them standing beneath a large leafed tree with nature as their only protection. This scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We humans are too placid. like a breath, a footstep shows that the danger is creeping up slowly and softly but is without doubt there. She uses a juxtaposition in the next line saying, with its calm eye of fire calm and fire are 2 opposites as fire is never meant to be calm. She says that fire or danger is coming but very peacefully. The calm nothing carries with it an explosive danger, which we are ignorant to. She then comes back to present and describes the scene around her. She continues to depict her daughter eating and looking for berries. However the line grace plumps the berries, two or three hot and squashed in her fist seems to be a metaphor. I think that Atwood is saying simply that her daughter finds a Few dusty berries and then squashes them in her hand. However its profound meaning seems to be that grace or blessing from god has made the berries round and juicy, they slowly became dusty and now man destroys it so frivolously. It is a metaphor showing nature and how man treats it presently, without much care. She also says the blades of grass are still with us , as she remembers that we still have grass and expresses gratitude. The last stanza is clearly a warning where she says that so far we have destroyed nature carelessly and for fun, but we have already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jesus came upon a crowd and he looked at them with compassion for they were being harassed like a sheep without a shepherd . He then went to his disciples and said The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Jesus called upon his disciples and gave them the authority of unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. It then states the names of the twelve disciples going from Simon, known as peter to Judas the betrayer. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve on it later. Due to the build up of stress in these areas, the plates eventually unlock and release a great amount of energy, resulting in a megathrust earthquake2. 1.2 Tsunamis Since these earthquakes are caused by tectonic plate movement therefore displacing the ocean floor they are almost always accompanied by massive ocean waves, sometimes reaching heights of over 100 ft and reaching speeds of 500 mph, known as seismic sea waves or more commonly known as Tsunamis4. Alongside the catastrophic events that megathrust earthquakes ensue on an affected region these colossal Tsunami waves further destruct costal lines in their path, sometimes reaching many miles inland. 1.3 Report Aim This report will outline the environmental and societal impacts of the Tohoku ... • 35. The During The Elizabethan Era Essay The Elizabethan theater became a central part of social life in Shakespeare s time and was a form of entertainment that took people s minds off the daily hardships during the Elizabethan era. The Elizabethan era is known for its English nationalism and advancements of arts during the English Renaissance. Because of this, the Elizabethan era is considered to be the height of the English Renaissance. England s working class had a difficult life. Powerful lords owned and governed local districts that were usually made up of a few hundred peasants. Nearly 95 percent of England s population lived in these types of districts. Almost all of the labor was performed by the peasant farmers. They farmed about one third of the land for the local lord, a portion for the local church, and the rest for their own usage. They typically worked from sunup to sundown and their daily lives were regulated by the different growing seasons. They rarely traveled beyond their own village. The sick and elderly relied greatly on the kindness of their local lord for survival. The death rate was high and life expectancy was low because of frequent outbreaks of the plague. The life of a peasant was usually fairly stable but there was almost no chance of escaping the rut of belonging to this class of people from one generation to the next. Elizabethan entertainment was important to people who lived in the Elizabethan era. People used forms of Elizabethan entertainment whenever there was something to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Particles Lab Pressure vs. Number of Particles Lab Report Introduction: The experiment deals with many different parts and one of them is gas, a substance that moves freel through the air and their particles are stread farther away from each other when compared to the other states of matter. The difference between the states of matter are how close the particles are to each other. The experiment was completed to find how pressure affects the number of particles. Pressure, which is the force exerted on an object by physical contact, was used to apply force into the pressure sensor. A pressure sensor measures the amount of force can object has and this will tell us how the pressure is affecting the number of particles. Also the volume, of the pressure ... • 37. The British And The American Colonies History 2.1 What Lead to the Fractured Relationship Between the British and the American Colonies Prior to the Boston Massacre? Following Britain s success in the Seven Years War and the signing of a Peace with France in 1763 Britain gained control of all territory east of the Mississippi in North America. From all of this there was a cost; the war left Britain with large military expenses debts and additional expenses of an enlarged empire. At an attempt to solve this problem, the politicians in Britain decided to exploit the colonial tax revenues in order to pay off the debts and increased expenses. Britain began to tighten control in the colonies in 1763 by stooping migration of settlers westward, this had resulted in expensive and bloody Indian wars, something that the British currently did not need. It also allowed the British to keep control of a smaller land mass and thus make it easier to keep an eye on all colonists. Colonial trade was tightened and colonial taxation was increased. Central power was increased and the power of colonial assemblies decreased. The British first brought in the Sugar Act. The Act taxed the finer things and more luxurious items such as wine, silk, and coffee. It was the first attempt from the British to exploit colonial tax revenue to aid the British need. Opposition from the colonies was immediate. The revenue Act was introduced the same year meaning the British could tax the colonies to improve the revenue of the Kingdom . The ... • 39. Stockholm Syndrome Theory The Role of the Stockholm syndrome Theory in relation to attachment in Emotional Abuse: Stockholm Syndrome is a paradoxical phenomenon that occurred on August 23, 1973 by a 32 year old career criminal Jan Erik Olsson and his partner. It occurred at the Svergis Kredit Bank, Sweden where four employees were held hostage for 131 hours. According to Doyle (2002) it became clear that during the siege, the hostages, despite being law abiding citizens, were more afraid of the police than they were of their captors, and subsequently defended the robbers. In kidnap and hostage situations, negotiators recognize that captives frequently develop positive feelings towards their captors and show hostility towards any rescuers: Even in the face of an ... Similarly, children who are subjected to mistreatment at the hands of a newly arrived step parent, or who have other positive influences, may resist and complain because they know there are alternative forms of parental behaviour (Doyle, 2002). Strenz (1980) noted that the Stockholm syndrome is likely to be absent when captors showed no kindness towards their victims. He states that those victims who had negative contacts with the subjects did not evidence concern for them... some of these victims had been physically abused by the subjects. On November 19, 1863, the sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln, declared in his famous Gettysburg Address, Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. Lincoln s sentiments express the longstanding tension between the North and the South about state s rights and slavery. Both of these causes sparked the Federalist vs. Antifederalist debates, Abolitionist Movement, and Dred Scott decision that ultimately fueled the divide that started the civil war. The issue of states rights was the main difference between the Federalist and Anti Federalist views, and its divergence led to the fundamentally opposing views of the north and south. The population of the northern states consisted mainly of Federalists who believed that it is clearly within the provision [of the Constitution] which authorizes the making of all needful rules and regulations concerning the property of the United States, as the same has been practiced upon by the Government . This view suggests that politicians could make laws and regulations based on implied powers of the Constitution, or non explicitly stated powers. George MacDonald, in one of his most famous novels, The Princess and the Goblin, displays an acute awareness of this fact, presenting us with some of the most colorful and unforgettable characters seen in children s literature. It is clear that this traditional goblin hardly fits the description of MacDonald s more menacing, subterranean goblin, and it has been suggested that the dwarf in folklore better describes this type of creature (Morris). Dwarves are a subterranean race [that] has no proper communication with mankind, who accomplish their business in the night, and not by the day (Keightly, 217). This nearly echoes The Princess and the Goblin, where the goblins had all taken refuge in the subterranean caverns, whence they never came out but at night, and them seldom showed themselves in any numbers (MacDonald, 12). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Bureau of Justice Statistics (2012), Recidivism is measured by criminal acts that resulted in the rearrests, reconviction, or return to prison with or without a new sentence during a three year period following the prisoner s release (Recidivism, par. 1). If the hypothesis is confirmed the theory will suggest that the lower the education level of an individual, the more apt that individual is to having a hard time finding work. If an individual, who has been to prison or jail, gets released into society with a low education level they will have a hard time finding a job. If this individual cannot find a job they will most likely turn to crime to get money to support themselves or their families, thus proving that the lower the education rate the higher the recidivism rate is. If the hypothesis is not confirmed it will suggest that there is no connection between education levels and recidivism rates back into jail or prison. If not proved the hypothesis will also show that individuals released back into society turn back to crime for other reasons and not anything to do with their education levels, thus proving that education levels have no effect on recidivism rates. Background/Literature review Recidivism is the result of a former prisoner relapsing into criminal activity and returning to prison for a new offense. • 48. The Challenges Of Adversity And Diversity In The Workplace In recent years, diversity and inclusion have emerged as an essential business practice. Why are diversity and inclusion so critical to organizations nowadays? Do they really help organizations achieve better results? Why is it a unique issue in the 21st century workplace? To answer these questions, organizations should look into factors such as globalization. Globalization increases interactions around the world and diversifies the profile of the workforce, which also contributes to the changing composition of the current workforce. While globalization offers extensive opportunities for organizations, it also imposes many challenges that require new responses. Organizations are not only looking for ways to effectively manage a diverse workforce but also to leverage it to achieve better outcomes. As diversity and inclusion gain more attention in the society, more research has been done on their impact to organizations. Not too long ago, organizations implemented diversity management initiatives, such as affirmative action and equal employment legislations, just to fulfill their legal requirements (Jayne and Dipboye, 2004). However, diversity and inclusion have since then become a business imperative. Are diversity and inclusion the same? • 51. Congenital Disorders With Intellectual Disability Chapter Five 5. Discussion Congenital disorders with intellectual disability (ID) constitute a particularly significant medical problem because of the high prevalence and life long care that patients will need. The extreme genetic heterogeneity of ID is a major problem for pre and postnatal diagnosis. In some cases, however, early detection of a mutation may be important to prevent the manifestation of the handicap (Avbelj et al. 2007). Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the most frequent causes of preventable ID, which can be averted by administering thyroid hormone in early postnatal life. This is achieved by newborn screening detection. Congenital hypothyroidism fulfills most of the criteria for disease screening as set out by Wilson and Jungner (Wilson and Jungner 1968), in fact CH is four to five times more common than Phenylketonuria for which newborn screening was initially developed (Chiesa, Rivolta, Targovnik, Gruneiro Papendieck 2010). Detection of CH by neonatal screening has been a major achievement because early diagnosis and treatment result in normal development in nearly all cases. An additional benefit of neonatal screening has been the elucidation of the incidence of CH as well as the prevalence of its various causes. The incidence rate of CH is approximately 1 of 3000/4000 new births worldwide (Calaciura, Miscio, Coco, Leonardi, Cisternino, Regalbuto, Bozzali, Maiorana, Ranieri, Carta, Buscema, Trischitta, Sava, Tassi 2002). • 52. Why The Agent Is Fully Self Owning Essay Libertarians hold that every agent is fully self owning. Every agent morally owns their own body, just as they can morally own an inanimate object. A set of five rules comes with full ownership of an entity. First, they control the right to use of their entity, both a liberty right to use it and a claim right that others cannot use it (Vallentyne). Second, the agent has the right to compensation if someone else uses the entity without the agent s explicit permission. Third, the agent has the right to call upon enforcement rights. Fourth, the right to transfer these rights to another by sale, rent, loan, or gift. Finally, the agent is immune to non consensual loss of these rights. At the core of the rules of full ownership is the right to control the use of one s body. This is necessary when considering certain actions that cannot be done without one s consent, but can be with their consent. Because of an individual s inherent right to sexual autonomy, they have the right to act how they want with their body. Libertarians hold the view that prostitution is an activity between two consenting adults, which should not be touched by the government or even an organized religion because they consider it to be a victimless crime .
