Essay On Didgeridoo
What is Didgeridoo? The didgeridoo also known as didjerido is an Australian Aboriginal wind
instrument in the form of a long wooden tube. Traditionally made from a hollow branch. This
instrument is blown to produce a deep and resonant sound. Its varied by rhythmic accents of volume
and timbre. Some believe the Australian Aborigine has been using the didgeridoo for over 40,000
years, the oldest records of Aborigines playing the didgeridoo date back 2000 years in the form of old
Northern Territory cave and rock paintings. Australian aboriginal music is sometimes classified in
three categories, secular, sacred and secret. These categories are generally more functional than
musical. The didgeridoo s instruments family are brass, and wind. The related instruments are post
horn, trumpet, buggle, and cornet. Originally, didgeridoo was just played as an accompaniment
instrument for dancing and singing ceremony. But it was also commonly played for a solo and outside
of recreational ceremonial gathering purpose. For aboriginal groups of northern Australia, the
didgeridoo was still part of ceremonial life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternating with the fundamental, the overtone is used both structurally, in relation to the song item as
a whole, and according to the experience and the expertise of individual players. Traditionally, a
typical performance will consist of one or more singers (one of whom is the lead songman), each with
a pair of sticks (clapstick) or something else percussive and one didjeriduist. Some genres of music do
not use didgeridoo, but only one is ever played at a time. If for some reason a didjeriduist is

The Use of Literary Techniques in Robert Frost s Stopping...
Robert Frost s, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening tells a story of a man and his horse who are
walking in the woods that are possibly owned by someone the man knows. Snow falls softly from the
sky and the woods are silent. He mentions that the horse does not want to stop with him without a
reason. The only sound audible is the horse s bell that jingles around his neck. Snow makes a
sweeping sound in the wind around them. The man wants to stay and enjoy the peacefulness, but
realizes that he must get back to his responsibilities. The theme of this poem is the simplicity of nature
and how alluring it can be. To be able to enjoy such a scenery and not have obligations is the man s
dream, but reality quickly reminds him of his responsibilities. Frost uses symbols, allegorical
meanings, and metaphors to help reveal the theme of his poem; that duties and responsibilities limit
people from being able to do the things they love sometimes. The most important symbol in Frost s
poem is the woods which are lovely, dark, and deep (13). and are very seducing to the reader. These
woods are tempting the man to stay and enjoy them. One could interpret this as a longing to lay down
in the woods to a deep, dark sleep and never wake up, possibly death. The man stops with his horse in
these woods and watches them fill up with snow (4). In relation to the theme, the woods confirm the
simplicity of nature and all its wonder. Another symbol in this poem is the horse s bells that

Happy Moment In 1988
The year 1988 was filled with many mixed emotions throughout the year. There were moments when
people were sad from losing their loved ones but also many happy emotions because of big
achievements that have been reached. Some of the sad moments that happened was train crashes,
airplane crashes, helicopter crashes, many famous people dying, and the terrible tropical storm that
happened in Rio De Janeiro. Some of the more happy moments from 1988 are when Barry Sander s
won the Heisman Trophy during his junior in college, and when the scientist found a fossil that dated
back 390 million years ago.
An airplane crashed in southwestern China, killing all 108 passengers on January 18th. The airplane
was reported to of crashed at 10:15 P.M. Monday night. The passenger plane was leaving from
Beijing, heading for Chongqing. The crash happened about five miles from the airport in Sichuan. The
plane was reported to be carrying 10 crew members and 98 passengers. Four of the people that were in
the crash were foreigners, three Japanese and someone from Britain. The three Japanese passengers
that died were identified as Isamu Tanaka and Masato Haga of the Toshiba Corporation, and the third
was Sumio Kudo of Mitsui Company, a trading firm.
There was a 13 day standoff in Marion, Utah, between police and a polygamist clan. On January 28th,

Dormitory
Dormitory History
From the beginning of the college in 1922 until the mid to late 1960s, the college had functioned
predominantly as a commuter campus. Most of the students were Arkansas City or Cowley County
residents, certainly within driving distance to the college. The few who were non residents were able
to obtain housing from private citizens.
During the 1960s, the number of students coming from outside Cowley County began to increase
dramatically. College personnel such as Del Heidebrecht, Ben Cleveland, Bill Scott, and Dr. Gwen
Nelson attempted to secure privately owned facilities in which students could rent. At the same time
enrollment was increasing, the college also was losing potential students because of a lack of ... Show

Its capacity was 40 students. Expansion of the facility began on Jan. 2, 1989, bringing the capacity to
86 students. The building, now known as the Kirke W. Dale Dormitory, was completed in time for the
1989 fall semester. The William R. Docking Dormitory was ready for occupancy at the beginning of
the 1994 fall semester, and the college s newest dormitory, Oscar Kimmell, was completed in time for
the start of the 2001 fall semester.
Typesssss
Traditional
Traditional style dormitories consist of a room shared by two people with access to communal
bathrooms, laundry facilities and sometimes kitchens. The buildings may house both sexes, but living
spaces and communal bathrooms will be assigned to specific sexes usually by floor or by section. The
benefits of this style are that all facilities except individual dorm rooms will be cleaned by janitorial
staff. The downside of this style of dormitory is the lack of privacy that may occur in communal
bathrooms.
Suites
Suite style dormitories consist of two or more rooms connected by a bathroom. Usually, there are two
people assigned to one room. Having a bathroom connected to your dorm room is convenient in the
middle of the night or when you need to grab a quick shower. However, it falls on the occupants to
clean the bathroom facilities
Single Rooms
Some colleges offer private rooms in their dormitories. These rooms will be occupied by one person.

This unique era transformed and continues to transform Canada through occurrences such as the Great
Canadian Flag Debate, the Quiet Revolution and through the occurrence known as Trudeaumania. No
other decade has transformed Canada quite like the Sixties, it is due this that the Sixties is the most
significant decade in Canada s vast history in terms of transforming or changing the country.
The historical occurrence known as the Great Canadian Flag Debate brought major changes to
Canada. Prior to Canada adopting its current sovereign state flag, a number of big events encouraged
Canadians to think about what it meant to be a Canadian, Canadians began to question their flag, they
wondered if their flag truly represented what it meant to be a Canadian, many people wanted a new
flag of Canada as they felt that their flag did not truly represent what it meant to be a Canadian. In the
year 1958, an extensive poll was taken in Canada, it related to the attitudes that adult Canadians had
towards the flag of their country; of those who expressed opinions, over 80% wanted a sovereign state
flag entirely different from that of any other country, and 60% wanted a sovereign state flag that
would showcase their beloved maple leaf. Some people liked this idea of adopting a new sovereign
state flag as they wanted their flag to be uniquely Canadian, however some people did not like the idea
as they were content with the flag that they had,

like he s speaking about God s forgiveness for his sins and evil doing. When he speaks about how his

how he s vulnerable about everything that he s feeling about in his life and how he s so scared to

What Is Working Towards A Solution Essay
Working towards a solution
Personal Level
Working towards a solution needs to start at the personal level because in order to change the world,
individuals need to first be willing to change themselves. There are many opportunities to participate
on a personal level to help combat hunger. One way to personally fight hunger and increase food
security is to grow your own produce and produce for your neighbor. By growing personal vegetables,
reliance on grocery stores for fresh produce is taken out of the picture. Less waste is produced when
food is personally grown and it is inexpensive. Serving food at a homeless shelter or food pantry
nearby is another personal way to get involved. Volunteering time is beneficial for both the volunteer

expected that if a person regularly eats a meal at Bistro163 and cannot pay, they should volunteer their
time as a payment. It is also an expectation that patrons pay more than the suggested price in order to
help others have a meal. It is a pay it forward system. Places like Bistro163 address hunger in a
dignified manner while at the same time building relationships throughout the community. If more
communities adopted this idea, areas of food insecurity could turn into places where worrying about
food becomes a thing of the past.
National Level
Communities that work together can create a difference within their own town or state and also on a
national level. Natural disasters have a big impact on people and food security, so providing
emergency assistance is one way a person could have a national effect on fighting hunger. Currently in
the US, many people are facing the effects of hurricane s firsthand. A hurricane makes it challenging
for travel, leaving grocery stores empty and poorly stocked. Many people are willing to volunteer and
travel to places of natural disaster to provide aid to those in need. Organizations such as the United
Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) respond to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that
a community cannot possibly recover on their

Cultural Appropriation And Its Effects
Most things in life are not guaranteed. However, a few things are like taxes and cafeteria food being of
low quality. Students at Oberlin are complaining about the school s cafeteria food is racist and cultural
appropriation . Cultural appropriation is the act of taking another cultural group s culture. In this case,
it is from poorly made Asian foods like sushi and General Tso s chicken. They claim that because
these foods are poorly made, it is an insult to them and their culture. Most people find this case to be
absolutely ridiculous and use it as a way to prove that people can get offended over anything.
The whole idea of cultural appropriation is taking culture from a marginalized group. This has recently
became a hot issue with the droves of Tumblr and their ilk. The main problem with the people are
fighting cultural appropriation is that it makes it so there is no right way to share other people s
cultures around. This is taken to the extreme in this case, it is ridiculous to say that somebody is
stealing culture when the food is poorly prepared. From the article, a Japanese student was
complaining about the quality of the sushi being prepared at the school and the lack of fresh fish. Well,
as a person who enjoys sushi I can easily say that an American school will never be a good place for
sushi. Especially a landlocked, tiny liberal arts school in Ohio. Quality sushi is really hard to come by
in Ohio, outside of specialized restaurants. That s not stealing

The Horrors Of Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a very difficult and heart wrenching time period. This tragic event occurred
because Adolf Hitler blamed the Jewish religion for Germany s corruption. Hitler kept many Jews in
camps and put millions to death by gassing them or rather poisoning them. Hitler s deadly camps were
mainly located in Germany during the second World War yet took place all over Europe.(around 1933
1945) For the Greek language, Holocaust means whole and burned .( as it says in source 2) The
segregation against the Jewish religion had took place long before Hitler came along. On January 20th
1933, Hitler was named Chancellor over Germany. Yet when Germany s supreme ruler, Paul von
Hindenburg passed away Hitler took it upon himself to fill his spot giving him more power than any
of the Jews would have liked. My point of view, that the immediate cause for this was the racial and
religious discrimination against the Jews; I think this is the main . In my opinion, since the jewish
religion had so much already going against them from the past, it was easier to blame them. As I see it,
this dreadful conflict could have easily been avoided without the numerous 6 million deaths during the
time period of 1933 to 1945. Whether the Jews were to blame or not, I believe that Hitler could have
been able to deal with what he disagreed with in a different manner. On September 1, 1939 Germany
invaded Poland which got WWII started in Europe. (source 1) In my opinion, Europe fell into

History of the Hollywood Star System Essay
The star system was a method of developing and advancing the popularity of Hollywood movie stars.
The system, which began during the height of the Hollywood studio system era, emphasized the image
of the actor instead on the actual acting. The movie studio s profits were driven by the popularity of
the stars that appeared in their films. According to Rocco, the stars had long term contracts with the
movie studios that paid them a weekly salary, and the stars were identified with specific types of
characters that would often be repeated in many movies. Belton stated that the star provides the studio
with a tangible attraction, an image that can be advertized and marketed, offsetting the less tangible
qualities of the story, directing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over time, there were several changes in Hollywood that led to the end of the studio system, but the
star system remained one of the most important aspects of the film industry. The creation of movie
magazines made the actors and actresses more assessable to fans. Belton stated that the power of today
s stars is driven by the amount of focus that is put on them by entertainment journalist and television
shows (90). Entertainment magazines line the shelves of grocery stores and newspaper stands with the
names and faces of stars plastered throughout the pages. Robert Downey Jr. is one of the most gifted

Andy Warhol s Telephone
To complete my project I decided to visit the museum of contemporary art. The piece I m going to
focus on is Andy Warhol s Telephone, which was painted in 1961. I had already chosen to do my essay
on this piece because I d been interested in Warhol and his overarching themes of consumerism and
product idolization in America. Although this piece isn t blatantly judging America and its
materialistic mentality, I like the commentary he was attempting to make about traditional and modern
forms of art. Upon first seeing this piece I was taken aback by its size. I d seen a photo of the work on
MOCA s website, but to see it in person truly was a different experience. When I began to really look
at it, I noticed how clean cut all the lines were and made the assumption that Warhol had used silk
screening as he did in many of his pieces. However, when I read the description on the side and found
out he hand painted it I was extremely surprised. There aren t any visible brush strokes, the lines are
clean and the colors look so solid. Instead of depicting a modern telephone of his time he illustrated
one that could be decades old. This is a painting that because of its subject material and creation

Just by looking at it most would assume he used silk screening like I had assumed. This could stem
back to Warhol s constant attempts to make his audience believe that his work meant less than it really
did. He was hiding the meaning by making it look like his other pieces in that aspect. Just another
piece to be visually consumed by his audience. It wasn t meant to be analyzed, only enjoyed. This also
thought this could mean that even if a piece of art is hand drawn people don t appreciate that form of
art as much as they used to. Art is art and the method is no longer a tool for judging value or artistic
ability, so conspicuously displaying the techniques he used was an unnecessary waste of

Differences Between Hamlet And Hamlet
Science has not yet taught us if madness is or is not the sublimity of the intelligence (Edgar Allen
Poe). Madness can be viewed differently by different audiences, In Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, the
main character is portrayed as mad by the other characters; however, a discerning eye could view him
as the only truly intelligent one because he sees the truth. An argument would be that Hamlet is not
insane, but rather intelligent and the only sane one. Likewise, In Emily Dickinson s poem, Much
Madness is Divinest Sense , has similar themes and views on madness that relate to Hamlet. Both
pieces view madness as a divine sense of intelligence and sanity. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet,
madness and irrational behavior is judged reasonable and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the themes prominent in both works is: the tension between ideal and real. This theme is found
commonly throughout Hamlet and helps to add the the idea that Hamlet not actually mad; but rather,
the only one to see reality. Ideally to a normal eye it would be reasonable to judge Hamlet and his
behavior as irrational; however, to a discerning eye, he would be judged as being sane and the only
rational character, which would often cause tension between the characters. An example of this theme
found in Hamlet is seen when he is talking about how his mother should have taken more time to

Hamlet s uncle. Hamlet says, Would have mourn d longer! Married with mine uncle, My father s
brother, but no more like my father (I.ii.150 154). This theme can also relate back to Dickinson s
poem, she writes about how when people see things on their ideal ways, it creates tension between the
two groups of people. Dickinson writes, Tis the majority in this, as All, prevail... (Dickinson). This
further explains the concept of the majority of a society would see the ideal views which leads to the
tension throughout a society. Another universal theme found in both works is: The clash between
appearance and reality. There are numerous examples of this theme found in Hamlet. One example
would b, a conversation between Horatio and Bernado. Shakespeare writes, (Bernado) How now,
Horatio! You tremble and look pale! Is not this something more than fantasy? What think you on t?

The Construction Industry Affecting Australia s Economy
The construction sector drives a country s economy. In Australia, the construction industry is a major
role of economic growth and is the fourth largest contributor to Australia s gross domestic product

consumption and manufacturing activity to triple with the population growth increase by over 50%

The Characters Of Aisha And Khadija
The Prophet s pietistic norms are archetypes in which Muslims, as a piety of knowledge, are intrigued
to comprehend more about the messenger s social gestures. There have been various inquiries
concerning the prophet s marriage, the traits of Muhammad as a husband and the normative of his
sexual life. Although the prophet had consummated his marriage with eleven of his thirteen wives,
Khadija and Aisha were the Prophet s most preference and beloved ones. No doubts, both Aisha and
Khadija manifested the entitlement The Mother of the Muslim Believers; though, they both embedded
different characters and witnessed the Prophet sexually in varying views. Therefore, the community
had portrait Aisha and Khadija s embodiments relatively to their suppositions of gender and sexuality,
since that Muhammad married both of his wives during discrete periods. In this Essay, I intend to
answer the exam s inquiry, thoroughly, through three factions: At first, providing both characters of
Aisha and Khadija. Secondly, representing clear differences in the way, they were told and the views
they described gender and sexuality. Finally, Juxtaposing the discrepancies between the two stories

Her switching between societies and points in time allow her to present the ideas and perspectives of
multiple groups and what affect those ideas have. This changing of perspective also shows how ideas
have shifted over time. The structure of Silko s exposition makes her points clear, convincing and
engaging because of its shifting perspective. Silky analyzes modern white society and Laguna society

A Blended Future Of Technology

A Blended Future Technology in education is not a new concept, especially at the college level.
Universities are encouraged to offer online courses, or as freelance journalist Chrissie Long and many
other experts call them, MOOCs (massive online open courses), to reach out to more students and
provide them with a more convenient style of learning (455). While MOOCs certainly have their
strengths, how far should universities go? What is the future of online education? Should colleges of
the future only offer online courses, or should face to face classes still be the primary form of
education? Blended courses, though not without faults of their own, can combine the best elements of

Because the lectures are outside of class, there is more time for discussion and clarification. The
lectures in strictly face to face courses are presented in class, so there is not usually enough time for in
depth discussions. MOOCs are entirely online, so there is no meeting for discussion. Blended courses
do meet and have time for discussions, but there are some drawbacks as well. For example, if a
student has a question that he or she cannot find the answer to, the student will have to wait until the
next in class meeting or email the professor to get the answer. In face to face classes, the student could
ask the professor immediately, but a student in a blended course would still be able to eventually ask
the professor in person, which is an advantage over a MOOC. Even though face to face classes have
more access to professors, and MOOCs do not require the student to come to campus, blended courses
remain beneficial to students because they provide more time for discussions and clarification than
other types of classes. Aside from more in class discussion, blended courses also allow students to set
their own paces. In an article for U.S. News World Report, author Jordan Friedman mentioned a 2011
Kaplan Inc. research review that said blended learning programs can potentially offer more

The most prime example of the Gullah tale in the text is in the foreword section of the novel. Morrison
tells a story of a story where a man named Solomon escapes slavery while at the same time
abandoning his family. This allusion is a connection to the Gullah stories of the slaves who would fly
back to Africa to free themselves. The allusion appears throughout the rest of the novel. For instance,
in the first chapter, an insurance agent by the name of Robert Smith announced that he would fly off
the roof of Mercy, a local hospital, to the other side of Lake Superior. I will take off from Mercy and
fly away on my own wings, he said ( Song of Solomon 3). More references to flight and the Gullah
tale are made in the novel; Song of Solomon ends with the flight of Milkman Dead off Solomon s
Leap. Milkman stopped waving and narrowed his eyes. He could just make out Guitar s head and
shoulders in the dark...Without wiping away the tears, taking a deep breath, or even bending his knees
he leaped (SOS 337). The reference to the tale in the novel helps to establish equivalence between the
characters and the readers. In other words, by renewing the tale in her novel, the message of the tale
becomes more comprehensible to the readers especially to a new generation of African American
readers who can learn about and relate to

Bob s Discount Furniture For The Furniture Industry
Introduction Bob s Discount Furniture can be defined in one word, innovative . In almost every aspect
of their business, Bob s is setting the standard for the furniture industry. Founded in 1991 in
Newington, Connecticut, Bob Kaufman had a dream to build a successful company. This dream
stemmed from his own experiences. In 1976, Bob was involved in a motorcycle accident that left one
of his legs partially paralyzed. He was sent to bed to recuperate from his injuries, where he then found
the benefits of the waterbed in his recovery. This experience inspired Bob to become a waterbed
salesman. He sold waterbeds in 24 stores across New England. As his waterbed sales began to take
off, he became a sales partner with the owner of a store in which he currently sold his product. They
ended up buying a building located in Newington, Connecticut, which became the first ever Bob s

Along with the dramatic demise of Motorola s mobile phone business in the past two years,
Soundbuzz now also faces closure of its own. It s an ironic end for a company that seemed ahead of its
time when it came out selling legit music in 1999 at the dawn of illegal downloads. Many were
surprised at the time, when Soundbuzz CEO Sudhanshu Sarronwala, a former MTV stalwart, managed
to court the music labels even when they were more interested in blocking people from ripping CDs.
Its music collection was built up very fast, providing users in Singapore with a legit alternative to
pirated songs. But soon, the competition came for Suds and his company. Though Apple iTunes is still
not officially here in Singapore now, Nokia has recently launched its music store here. And Sony
Ericsson too, has partnered SingTel to offer a direct to mobile music download service. Soundbuzz,
meanwhile, was a much smaller player and had a less extensive music collection. Plus, it somehow
only supported the Internet Explorer browser, likely because of its Windows Media back end, which
kept out a lot of users. The final nail in the coffin must have been its sale to Motorola, a company that
invented the cellphone and won millions over with the iconic Razr phone, but somehow still managed
to lose direction in its cellphone business thanks to poor management and decision making. Before

Similarities Between OLAPAnd ORDBMS
Abstract: ORDBMS (Object relational Database Management Systems) provides a convenient
migration for users to enhance and form combined capabilities of relational DBMSs (RDBMSs) while
adding the features appearing in object DBMSs (ODBMSs). ORDBMS adopt the approach of queries
in management of data which is being inherited from that of RDBMS.
OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) is used for the analysis of complex data for the successful
management. OLAP has different meanings depending upon the specific combination of different
technologies however; it is an integral technique of data warehousing solution. This paper will treat
OLAP and ORDBMS comparatively to bring out its similarities and differences.

The major distinguishing features between ORDBMS and OLAP are summarized as
Follows:
Users and system orientation: An ORDBMS technology is customer oriented and is used for query
processing and transactions by information technology professionals, clerks and clients.
An OLAP system is used for data analysis by knowledge workers, including managers, executives,
and analysts and it is market oriented.
Data contents: An ORDBMS system manages current data that typically are too detailed to be easily
used for decision making.
An OLAP system provides facilities for summarization and aggregation, and stores and manages
information at different levels of granularity. It manages large amounts of historical data. These
features make the data easier to use in informed decision making.
Database design: An ORDBMS system usually adopts an entity relationship (ER) or extended entity
relationship (E ER) data model and an object relational database design.
An OLAP system makes use of multidimensional data cubes and star or snowflake data model. It is a

Figurative Language Of Out, Out By Robert Frost
Poetic Analysis of Out, Out By Robert Frost In Robert Frost s poem Out, Out the poet uses literary
devices to describe the setting and thorough meaning of the poem. Frost has created a character during
World War 1, and the character gets injured and dies from that injury. Frost reveals imagery, diction,

Analysis Of The Book 1984 By George Orwell
George Orwell s novel 1984 written nearly seventy years ago tells the tale of Winston Smith through a
dystopian culture controlled by a government that is always watching. The novel was meant to deter
people away from rising totalitarian societies at the time like Germany and the Soviet Union. Winston
s first diary entry depicts the events of his seemingly normal day. He begins with, Last night to the
flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the
Mediterranean. He goes on to write about an overweight refugee in the film attempting to swim away,
only to be shot multiple times by the gunmen. As the man went underwater, Winston says the audience
shout[ed] with laughter when he sank. Orwell continues to write this gruesome entry, making the
audiences so unbelievably horrifying with their continuous laughter at suffering.
This conglomeration of heartless people would only be found in a book, right? Orwell wrote this for
people suffering in countries with political dominance. The citizens gave in to what the government
put in front of them, and in that molded their value system to make even the wonderful shot of a child
s arm going up up up right up into the air cause the audience to jump for joy. Orwell s entire novel is
terrifying to say in the least, but what bothers me the most about the mentioned diary entry is realizing
that this is not far off from where we are as a society watching movies.

Have you ever been at Christmas dinner and you were so interested and intrigued by your

these two stories that I am going to analyze will do just that. I will prove that Silko s Yellow Woman

identity is a common factor in both stories and plays such a large role in connecting the main
characters and their past traditions. Second, I will illustrate how both stories are linked to symbolism,

An interesting note which I will bring up later to give proof to my claim, is that when Walker was 8
years old, she was shot in the eye with a BB gun. After the incident, she became very self conscience
and felt like she did not fit in with the world around her. This helped her find her calling in writing. As
I noted in my thesis, I believe identity plays a very significant role in both of these short stories.
Specifically, I believe identity is the primary theme which inherently draws the characters in these
stories to traditions of their past. In Silko s Yellow Woman, identity was the main internal conflict for
the yellow woman. From the story we know that the yellow woman was a daughter, mother, and a
wife. In addition, we see that the yellow woman makes references to the stories that her grandfather
used to tell her. This clearly illustrates that her heritage, culture, and family play a huge role in her life.
For example: My old grandpa liked to tell those stories best. There is one about Badger and Coyote
who went hunting and were gone all day, and when the sun was going down they found a house. There
was a girl living there alone and she had light hair and eyes and she told them they could sleep with
her. Coyote wanted to be with her all night so he sent Badger into a prairie dog hole, telling him he

Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy a sixteen five line stanza is about Plath s father and the darkness and
brutality of male dominance. Plath incorporates a very dark and meaningful storyboard to describe her
feelings towards her father. Creating a figurative image for the readers, in second person, it is clearly
understood that she is unhappy to be alive. Sylvia Plath s use of various elements of poetry dramatizes
her internal battle with societal patriarchy and male dominance. The use of metaphors in the poem
combines unrelated things into a big meaning. In addition, the use of symbolism builds an abstract
concept in the poem. Finally, the use of imagery binds together the poem, into an organized vivid
picture. Daddy is Plath s best work; it leaves the reader in understanding the brutality and the hatred
women received from men during that time. Firstly, Plath s use of metaphors in the poem, builds the
poem a character and a deep meaning in regard to her father, whose image has been haunting Plath her
whole life. Using a metaphor of a black shoe and her as a foot that lives in it, Plath creates a deep
meaning to the representation of her father. Any more, black shoe, in which I have lived like a foot, for
thirty years, poor and white (705). In addition, the black shoe was a representation of the societal
patriarchy of the time that did not let the poet live freely under her own terms. In this case there was
the image of her father, that haunted her and holding her back.

Robert Cohn Quotes
Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899 and The Sun Also Rises was originally published in 1926.
During this time period, post war Europe was especially hesitant toward immigrant populations and
the dislike of Jews was common around the world. Hemingway used real life experiences and people
as inspiration for characters, setting and plot in the novel and supposedly created the main character,
Jake Barnes, as himself. In the Sun Also Rises, the anti semitic attitudes expressed toward Robert
Cohn reflect Hemingway s personal anti semitic beliefs, which were a product of his time. Many
aspects of Robert Cohn s character are stereotypical. One trait often found in stereotypical Jewish
characters is their fascination with money. Hemingway makes remarks throughout the novel to imply
that Cohn is always concerned with getting his money s worth, and is only interested in arguments or
sporting events if there s money involved. Cohn sent a telegram to Jake and Bill during their fishing
trip saying VENGO JUEVES COHN. Jake replies: What a lousy telegram!... He could send ten words
for the same price (Hemingway 119), implying that Cohn was overly concerned with money. The

Cause And Effect Of Water Vapor
Water vapor. Out of all the gases, water vapor makes the largest contribution to the Earth s GHE (EPA,
2015). Water vapor has an atmospheric lifetime (AL) (defined as the approximate amount of time it
would take for the anthropogenic increment to an atmospheric pollutant concentration to return to its
natural level (assuming emissions cease) as a result of either being converted to another chemical
compound or being taken out of the atmosphere via a sink (EPA, 2013)) of approximately 10 days
(EPA, 2015). It is unlike other GHG and unique in the fact that when it reaches high enough
concentrations in the atmosphere, it has the ability to condense into H2O liquid and can rain out from
the atmosphere back to the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). It also acts as a feedback mechanism to
climate change (IPCC, 2007; EPA, 2015). This is mainly due to two reasons. The first being that the
total amount of H2O vapor that is in the atmosphere at any given time is directly related to the Earth s
surface temperature (EPA, 2015). Secondly, the H2O vapor in the atmosphere can affect the formation
of clouds which directly influence the GHE by cooling (reflecting heat from the Sun) or by warming
(trapping heat in the atmosphere) the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). Essentially, any change in
clouds such as type, location, water content, altitude, particle size or shape, and lifetimes can influence
their effect on the cooling and warming of the Earth (IPCC, 2013). Therefore, any

It s Time For The Final Round Of Competition
It s time for the final round of competition. You ve been working hard all year, and it s about to pay
off. Once you are on that field you perform the best you ever have. Once you get off you feel proud

The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has had this feeling for more than two
decades. A lot of people don t know, that we re not just a normal halftime marching band, we are a
competitive marching band. We travel to competitions in Washington and Oregon. This program has

This wouldn t be a problem though, if we had more money in our budget to do our competitive season.

Full Inclusion
Perhaps the most extensively and passionately discussed topic in special education in recent years has
been the topic of inclusion. Even though an agreed upon explanation of full inclusion does not exist,
full inclusion refers to the total integration of a student with disabilities into the regular education
program with special support. In full inclusion, the student s main placement is in the general
educational classroom. Students do not reside in a resource room nor are they assigned to a special
education classroom. Consequently, the student with disabilities is a member of the general education
class. On the other hand the student with special needs does not need to be in the general class 100
percent of the time, but can leave the class

1. A wire service is a shared news story, which smaller papers buy. Since they do not have enough
money for their own reporters everywhere, they buy smaller versions of the story. This is going to
make an effect in the story because now the whole incident is everywhere, even the small towns that
have to pay for wire service. The news account of the story changes when it hits the wire because now
there is only a small part of the story and people make wrong assumptions. 2. I agree with Ms.

This is not ironic because Philip did not mean for this to happen, it just did. 7. Seymour uses Narwin s

why people are homeless is due to the mental and physical illness and substance abuse. Effective
intervention strategies must be achieved in order to combat homelessness and to ensure veterans are
receiving aid they deserve. An example of improving intervention would be to increase investment in
effective, evidence based programs utilizing such as the Housing First model created by the VA which

Essay On Jersey Shore
Television genres in the post network era are important because genres can target a larger range of
audience, which results in higher ratings. Genres also help create different and unique narratives that
influence popular culture. Jersey Shore illustrates how the reality television genre has a huge impact
on popular culture, society and viewers. Jersey Shore is about women and men some of Italian descent
that party and do whatever they want. The show explicitly illustrates the roles of guidos (males) and
guidettes (females), these people are working class Italian Americans. Even though the show is
representing the Italian population in the U.S. it is not doing a proper job because the representation is

The Colbert Report is an American late night talk show, which is a news satire and comedic program.
The show illustrates how the comedy and satire genre is important when it comes to informing people
about political and controversial topics. The comedic element of the show makes the program
entertaining and informative. In comparison to The Harvest of Shame this documentary that was used
to inform the American people about a sever issue made people feel bad, it was depressing. The
Colbert Report takes boring political issues and makes them interested, which appeals to younger
adults. Many young adults do not pay attention to politics because it is boring or too difficult to
understand. The show takes a political subject, simplifies it and makes it interesting. For example, in
one episode he discusses the 2016 election and makes fun of a statement of Donald Trump, it s not
only funny, but informative. Stephen Colbert is always talking to the audience directly, which creates a
better connect with the viewers. Shows like The Colbert Report bring people together to discuss
important topics. The comedy and satire of the show is just a technique to reach more people and
create a safe environment to discuss these sensitive topics. There are many talk shows that are
comedic and satire because it makes the show self reflexive. In conclusion, genre is a major factor
when it comes to creating

Merchant Of Venice Racism
Shakespeare s representation of Shylock is unquestionably Anti Semitic. The Merchant of Venice was
created between 1596 and 1598, it was published as a comic, romantic, tragic in 1600. The play has
many struggles in it but the main ones are Bassanio s quest to marry Portia and his attempt to free
Antonio from Shylock s deal. The idea that Shakespeare s representation of Shylock is unquestionably
Anti Semitic will be impacted in this essay because thought this book Shakespeare portrayed Shylock
as Anti Semitic. Anti Semitic means discrimination toward Jews just because they are Jewish.
Hostility towards Jews dates back to ancient times; from the days of the bible to ancient times ,Jewish
people have been criticized and pushed just because they have a different religion and did not fit in
with everyone else. The rise of Christianity greatly increased the hatred towards Jews. Instead of just
considered outsiders Jews were now seen as people who rejected Jesus and crucified him. By the
middle ages Jew were considered to be barely human and they were called Christ killers. Jewish
people were forced to live in the ghettos, they were accused of poisoning the wells and rivers in times
of major disease epidemics. In the 19th century thing started to get a little easier for Jewish people as
there was a decline in Christianity and a rise in the Jewish belief. But later on in World War two they
became Germany s justification seeking to kill every Jew. between 1939 and 1945

The During The Elizabethan Era Essay
The Elizabethan theater became a central part of social life in Shakespeare s time and was a form of
entertainment that took people s minds off the daily hardships during the Elizabethan era. The
Elizabethan era is known for its English nationalism and advancements of arts during the English
Renaissance. Because of this, the Elizabethan era is considered to be the height of the English
Renaissance.
England s working class had a difficult life. Powerful lords owned and governed local districts that
were usually made up of a few hundred peasants. Nearly 95 percent of England s population lived in
these types of districts. Almost all of the labor was performed by the peasant farmers. They farmed
about one third of the land for the local lord, a portion for the local church, and the rest for their own
usage. They typically worked from sunup to sundown and their daily lives were regulated by the
different growing seasons. They rarely traveled beyond their own village. The sick and elderly relied
greatly on the kindness of their local lord for survival. The death rate was high and life expectancy
was low because of frequent outbreaks of the plague. The life of a peasant was usually fairly stable but
there was almost no chance of escaping the rut of belonging to this class of people from one
generation to the next.
Elizabethan entertainment was important to people who lived in the Elizabethan era. People used
forms of Elizabethan entertainment whenever there was something to

Rikki Tiki Theme Analysis
Rikki Tikki Tavi Theme is the thoughts, or an exhibition on a story or piece of writing. My central
idea for the theme of Rikki Tikki Tavi by Rydyard Kipling is blind loyalty. I am positive that loyalty is
one of the superlative themes of this story because throughout the story, both the protagonist and
antagonist show loyalty. Rikki Tikki, the protagonist, shows his loyalty to the human family, his own
family, and Darzee by protecting them from the immoral Naginia. Another correct theme could be
bravery. The story emphasized the courage of Rikki and contrasted that with the cowardly behavior of
Chuchundra the muskrat. Rikki reveals his loyalty to Darzee after he acknowledges that Nag had eaten

Some believe the Australian Aborigine has been using the didgeridoo for over 40,000 years, the oldest records of Aborigines playing the didgeridoo date back 2000 years in the form of old Northern Territory cave and rock paintings. • 4. The Use of Literary Techniques in Robert Frost s Stopping... Robert Frost s, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening tells a story of a man and his horse who are walking in the woods that are possibly owned by someone the man knows. Snow falls softly from the sky and the woods are silent. He mentions that the horse does not want to stop with him without a reason. The only sound audible is the horse s bell that jingles around his neck. Snow makes a sweeping sound in the wind around them. The man wants to stay and enjoy the peacefulness, but realizes that he must get back to his responsibilities. The theme of this poem is the simplicity of nature and how alluring it can be. To be able to enjoy such a scenery and not have obligations is the man s dream, but reality quickly reminds him of his responsibilities. Frost uses symbols, allegorical meanings, and metaphors to help reveal the theme of his poem; that duties and responsibilities limit people from being able to do the things they love sometimes. The most important symbol in Frost s poem is the woods which are lovely, dark, and deep (13). and are very seducing to the reader. These woods are tempting the man to stay and enjoy them. One could interpret this as a longing to lay down in the woods to a deep, dark sleep and never wake up, possibly death. The man stops with his horse in these woods and watches them fill up with snow (4). In relation to the theme, the woods confirm the simplicity of nature and all its wonder. Another symbol in this poem is the horse s bells that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Cultural Appropriation And Its Effects Most things in life are not guaranteed. However, a few things are like taxes and cafeteria food being of low quality. Students at Oberlin are complaining about the school s cafeteria food is racist and cultural appropriation . Cultural appropriation is the act of taking another cultural group s culture. In this case, it is from poorly made Asian foods like sushi and General Tso s chicken. They claim that because these foods are poorly made, it is an insult to them and their culture. Most people find this case to be absolutely ridiculous and use it as a way to prove that people can get offended over anything. The whole idea of cultural appropriation is taking culture from a marginalized group. This has recently became a hot issue with the droves of Tumblr and their ilk. The main problem with the people are fighting cultural appropriation is that it makes it so there is no right way to share other people s cultures around. This is taken to the extreme in this case, it is ridiculous to say that somebody is stealing culture when the food is poorly prepared. From the article, a Japanese student was complaining about the quality of the sushi being prepared at the school and the lack of fresh fish. Well, as a person who enjoys sushi I can easily say that an American school will never be a good place for sushi. Especially a landlocked, tiny liberal arts school in Ohio. This tragic event occurred because Adolf Hitler blamed the Jewish religion for Germany s corruption. Hitler kept many Jews in camps and put millions to death by gassing them or rather poisoning them. Hitler s deadly camps were mainly located in Germany during the second World War yet took place all over Europe.(around 1933 1945) For the Greek language, Holocaust means whole and burned .( as it says in source 2) The segregation against the Jewish religion had took place long before Hitler came along. On January 20th 1933, Hitler was named Chancellor over Germany. Yet when Germany s supreme ruler, Paul von Hindenburg passed away Hitler took it upon himself to fill his spot giving him more power than any of the Jews would have liked. My point of view, that the immediate cause for this was the racial and religious discrimination against the Jews; I think this is the main . In my opinion, since the jewish religion had so much already going against them from the past, it was easier to blame them. As I see it, this dreadful conflict could have easily been avoided without the numerous 6 million deaths during the time period of 1933 to 1945. Whether the Jews were to blame or not, I believe that Hitler could have been able to deal with what he disagreed with in a different manner. The system, which began during the height of the Hollywood studio system era, emphasized the image of the actor instead on the actual acting. I had already chosen to do my essay on this piece because I d been interested in Warhol and his overarching themes of consumerism and product idolization in America. Although this piece isn t blatantly judging America and its materialistic mentality, I like the commentary he was attempting to make about traditional and modern forms of art. Upon first seeing this piece I was taken aback by its size. I d seen a photo of the work on MOCA s website, but to see it in person truly was a different experience. When I began to really look at it, I noticed how clean cut all the lines were and made the assumption that Warhol had used silk screening as he did in many of his pieces. However, when I read the description on the side and found out he hand painted it I was extremely surprised. There aren t any visible brush strokes, the lines are clean and the colors look so solid. Instead of depicting a modern telephone of his time he illustrated one that could be decades old. This is a painting that because of its subject material and creation method, could ve been ... Madness can be viewed differently by different audiences, In Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, the main character is portrayed as mad by the other characters; however, a discerning eye could view him as the only truly intelligent one because he sees the truth. An argument would be that Hamlet is not insane, but rather intelligent and the only sane one. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the themes prominent in both works is: the tension between ideal and real. This theme is found commonly throughout Hamlet and helps to add the the idea that Hamlet not actually mad; but rather, the only one to see reality. Ideally to a normal eye it would be reasonable to judge Hamlet and his behavior as irrational; however, to a discerning eye, he would be judged as being sane and the only rational character, which would often cause tension between the characters. An example of this theme found in Hamlet is seen when he is talking about how his mother should have taken more time to grieve his father s death before moving on, but in reality she was able to to quickly recover and marry Hamlet s uncle. Hamlet says, Would have mourn d longer! Married with mine uncle, My father s brother, but no more like my father (I.ii.150 154). This theme can also relate back to Dickinson s poem, she writes about how when people see things on their ideal ways, it creates tension between the two groups of people. Dickinson writes, Tis the majority in this, as All, prevail... (Dickinson). This further explains the concept of the majority of a society would see the ideal views which leads to the tension throughout a society. Another universal theme found in both works is: The clash between appearance and reality. There are numerous examples of this theme found in Hamlet. One example would b, a conversation between Horatio and Bernado. Shakespeare writes, (Bernado) How now, Horatio! You tremble and look pale! Is not this something more than fantasy? What think you on t? (Horatio) Before my God, I might not this believe without the sensible and true avouch of mine own eyes (I.ii.52 59). The lectures in strictly face to face courses are presented in class, so there is not usually enough time for in depth discussions. MOOCs are entirely online, so there is no meeting for discussion. Blended courses do meet and have time for discussions, but there are some drawbacks as well. For example, if a student has a question that he or she cannot find the answer to, the student will have to wait until the next in class meeting or email the professor to get the answer. In face to face classes, the student could ask the professor immediately, but a student in a blended course would still be able to eventually ask the professor in person, which is an advantage over a MOOC. Even though face to face classes have more access to professors, and MOOCs do not require the student to come to campus, blended courses remain beneficial to students because they provide more time for discussions and clarification than other types of classes. Aside from more in class discussion, blended courses also allow students to set their own paces. The most prime example of the Gullah tale in the text is in the foreword section of the novel. Morrison tells a story of a story where a man named Solomon escapes slavery while at the same time abandoning his family. This allusion is a connection to the Gullah stories of the slaves who would fly back to Africa to free themselves. The allusion appears throughout the rest of the novel. For instance, in the first chapter, an insurance agent by the name of Robert Smith announced that he would fly off the roof of Mercy, a local hospital, to the other side of Lake Superior. Plath incorporates a very dark and meaningful storyboard to describe her feelings towards her father. Creating a figurative image for the readers, in second person, it is clearly understood that she is unhappy to be alive. Sylvia Plath s use of various elements of poetry dramatizes her internal battle with societal patriarchy and male dominance. The use of metaphors in the poem combines unrelated things into a big meaning. In addition, the use of symbolism builds an abstract concept in the poem. Finally, the use of imagery binds together the poem, into an organized vivid picture. Daddy is Plath s best work; it leaves the reader in understanding the brutality and the hatred women received from men during that time. Firstly, Plath s use of metaphors in the poem, builds the poem a character and a deep meaning in regard to her father, whose image has been haunting Plath her whole life. • 37. Cause And Effect Of Water Vapor Water vapor. Out of all the gases, water vapor makes the largest contribution to the Earth s GHE (EPA, 2015). Water vapor has an atmospheric lifetime (AL) (defined as the approximate amount of time it would take for the anthropogenic increment to an atmospheric pollutant concentration to return to its natural level (assuming emissions cease) as a result of either being converted to another chemical compound or being taken out of the atmosphere via a sink (EPA, 2013)) of approximately 10 days (EPA, 2015). It is unlike other GHG and unique in the fact that when it reaches high enough concentrations in the atmosphere, it has the ability to condense into H2O liquid and can rain out from the atmosphere back to the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). It also acts as a feedback mechanism to climate change (IPCC, 2007; EPA, 2015). This is mainly due to two reasons. The first being that the total amount of H2O vapor that is in the atmosphere at any given time is directly related to the Earth s surface temperature (EPA, 2015). Secondly, the H2O vapor in the atmosphere can affect the formation of clouds which directly influence the GHE by cooling (reflecting heat from the Sun) or by warming (trapping heat in the atmosphere) the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). Essentially, any change in clouds such as type, location, water content, altitude, particle size or shape, and lifetimes can influence their effect on the cooling and warming of the Earth (IPCC, 2013). Typically, children act without reasoning things out in the mature way that adults do (or can do); and they act much more out of immediate desires or passions rather than the rational desires that adults have Oaks (2012). In November 1997, Mattel announced the creation of a global code of conduct for its production facilities and contract manufacturers. Called the Global Manufacturing Principles (GMP), the code covered such issues as wages and hours, child labor, forced labor, discrimination, freedom of association, legal and ethical business practices, product safety and product quality, protection of the environment, and respect for local cultures, values, and traditions. This process led to the development of more than 200 specific standards. They define the compliance parameters for each principle and cover all aspects of manufacturing operations; environment health and safety standards; worker hiring and training; working conditions; working hours, performance bonuses, wages, and overtime; conditions in dormitories and recreational facilities; and non job related skill enhancement programs. Once you are on that field you perform the best you ever have. Once you get off you feel proud and accomplished. However, this year that feeling, might have not been repeated. The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has had this feeling for more than two decades. A lot of people don t know, that we re not just a normal halftime marching band, we are a competitive marching band. We travel to competitions in Washington and Oregon. This program has been around for a couple decades, and we don t want to stop now. However, the competitive program was about to be nonexistent this year, due to lack of funds. A lot of students and parents were upset at the thought of no competitive season. All of us in this program feel as if that s the best part of the season. If we lost that it wouldn t bee as much fun. We were so far in debt that if we couldn t raise enough money, it would ve been game over. This wouldn t be a problem though, if we had more money in our budget to do our competitive season. We only receive $1000 which is for the whole band program, according to our band director. My school district needs to fund the EMBC program separately from the regular band programs. The Elizabethan era is known for its English nationalism and advancements of arts during the English Renaissance. Because of this, the Elizabethan era is considered to be the height of the English Renaissance. England s working class had a difficult life. Powerful lords owned and governed local districts that were usually made up of a few hundred peasants. Nearly 95 percent of England s population lived in these types of districts. Almost all of the labor was performed by the peasant farmers. They farmed about one third of the land for the local lord, a portion for the local church, and the rest for their own usage. They typically worked from sunup to sundown and their daily lives were regulated by the different growing seasons. They rarely traveled beyond their own village. The sick and elderly relied greatly on the kindness of their local lord for survival. The death rate was high and life expectancy was low because of frequent outbreaks of the plague.
