The Similarities Between Classical Music and Ellington s Jazz
One of the greatest tragedies in the 20th century can be seen in the debasing of the Jazz genre as a
unworthy equal to it s predecessor, European Classical music. This can be seen in various statements
about Jazz, such as Boris Gibalin commit, The Jazz Mania has taken on the character of a lingering
illness and must be cured by means of forceful intervention. 1 This conflict can be traced through out
the history of Jazz, as Classical composers have relatively disregarded this new type of music. Before
Duke Ellington s Cotton Club performances, Jazz play on the radio was delegated for late night
audience only. This sub culture treatment has led many critics to disregard the Jazz movement as a
dance craze, or unsuccessful recreations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To most people the infusion of African tonality into Duke Ellington s music to create Negro art ,
questions the connection between European music and Jazz. Here Constant Lambert responds to this.
If anyone doubts the essential element of European sophistication in Jazz, it is a simple matter for his
to compare a typical piece of Jazz, such as Duke Ellington Swampy River, first with a lyric by Grieg
and then with a record of African music. It must be clear to even the most prejudiced listener that apart
from a few rhythmical peculiarities the Ellington piece has far more in common with the music of
Grieg 6
One must understand that even when Duke infused the two tonalities of music; he still was obligated
to work within guidelines of the European Harmonic tradition.7 Yet by him keeping with this tradition
he is not obligated to write music in the form of previous composers such as Stravinsky, Mozart, or
Bach, for to do that would delegate Ellington s music as a duplicate work. Here is the contradiction,
for no Classical composer has ever been chastise for creativity in their sound, and yet how do you
explain the criticism of Ellington s work? The intentional fusing of African and European tonality is
nothing more than a continuation of numerous inventive techniques used by musicians as seen in the
changing sounds and techniques of Classical music over time? Thus to criticize Duke for his
originality one would also have

Self Assessment IIi And Vi
Self Assessment III and VI In self Assessment III the first sections talks about what type of
organizational system I would prefer. Organizational Structure is a system that defines the levels of
hierarchy within an organization. The organizational structure classifies each job, explains its function,
and who it reports to within the organization. Based on my scores they suggest I prefer to work in a
mechanistic structure rather than a organic structure. In a mechanistic structure people work separately
and specialize on only one task. Also within a mechanistic the hierarchy of authority is well defined.
The first section also measures my ability to delegate in the work place. According to my score I need
to substantial improve on my ability to delegate. Based on the analysis delegating authority are what
many managers have difficult doing. My ratio for being able to give feedback is a four out four. This
means my self perceived strength and weakness are equal, but I could work to improve ratio to be
more self perceived in strength. In the section labeled careers it indicates that I my preferred
organizational culture that informal, humanistic, flexible, and innovative culture. These traits fall
under humanistic culture even thought my other score suggested I prefer a mechanistic structure. It
also indicates that I m not that committed to my job since my score falls below the mean. This is ok
since not being committed to ones job is the new norm than it was

Computer Forensic Tools
We are now in the process of purchasing computer forensics tools and resources for HJC Corporation.
There are many programs, utilities, etc. available on the market that provide computer forensic data
retrieval capabilities, however, we are only required to provide information on just two of these tools
in our research. The purpose of computer forensics, as it is related to digital data, is to perform
computer crime related investigations to discover who committed the crime and provide investigators,
police and prosecutors with evidence that will be admissible in a court of law.

believe we can free ourselves of clutter? 2. Identify the main idea in each of the thirteen paragraphs.
How is each paragraph related to Zinsser s topic and purpose ? 3. In what ways do paragraphs 4 6

are they important? 5. How do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2A) Each paragraph is related to Zinsser s topic and purpose because in each paragraph he talks about
how Americans write and what a lot of faults is and also he is telling us how to write better
paragraphs. 3) Paragraphs 4 6 illustrates that the president of his university wrote a letter to mollify
the alumni after a spell of campus unrest. In paragraph 3 it says the secret of good writing is to strip
every sentence to its cleanest components. The president did not do that . 4) What am I trying to say ?
Have I said it ? Is it clear to someone encountering the subject for the first time? These questions are
important to ask yourself when you are writing your paragraph so your reader will know what you are
talking about and your paragraphs will make sense and it will be correct. 5) Zinsser s first and lasts
paragraphs serve to introduce and conclude his essay very good because he says in the beginning that
Clutter is a disease of American writing and in the ending he says that if you find writing is hard , it is
because you make it hard for yourself. It is up to the individual if you want to write your paragraph in
proper English. 6) The relationship between thinking and writing for Zinsser is that when you are
thinking you are just writing your thoughts but when you are writing for him you have to write in
proper English because he does not like improper

Let Her Go Poem Analysis
Many songs have very poetic lyrics and could be a great poem also. The song I chose to compare to a
poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I chose this
song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song, there is use of
figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliteration and assonance, and end rhymes. The song,
Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an oxymoron and many uses of
figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an oxymoron throughout the song in the
chorus again, which also includes the title of the song. The lyric that was used is, Only know you ve
been high when you re feeling low . This is an oxymoron because it contradictory terms, high and low,
appear in conjunction with one another. It is also making a comparison which will be described later.
The first use of figurative language in the song is, Everything you touch surely dies . Passenger uses a
hyperbole in this lyric by making and exaggeration and not speaking of it in realistic terms.
Everything anyone touches cannot and will not actually die, so the song writer uses their first
figurative language. The second lyric I found that used figurative language was, But dreams come
slow and they go so fast and Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast . In both lines, personification
is being used. They both describe love and dreams as people or things, saying that they go slow and
fast. This is almost as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passenger used alliteration in his lyric, Only miss the sun when it starts to snow . The repeated use of s
makes this line an alliteration as an alliteration is a sentence that uses one letter as the first letter of
multiple words in the sentence. This makes it smoother to read and listen to, making it an important
lyric to consider in making it a poem. The other device used was

Questions On Health Care System
WEAKNESS UKHC is following good strategic measures like focusing on complex patients, using
EMR, and large physicians and patient network. However, the complexity of payment system is
considered as major weakness that offers immense pressure on UKHC due to changing health care
reforms (Karpf, Lofgren, Bricker, et al, 2009). Major concerns for UKHC in present situation are,
Changing in reimbursement structures from volume based payments to quality and outcome based
payment structures.
Even though growing in, patient centered and quality care rate there is public concern about the
quality, access and safety of care provided.
Growing awareness about medicine and independence of patients are the aspects that are challenging
the medical procedures.
Growing healthcare costs Even though the patient sharing is good from bluegrass funding, it is yet to
provide leverage for patients form rural and low economy class. The rate of quality has declined form
12th rank to 19th rank in the recent quality analysis which UKHC need to realize. Extension of the
services is needed for the inpatients and emergency is necessary due to increasing load of patients
(Fact book, 2015). Implementation of extension process is necessary to increase the number of beds
and associated staff.
OPPORTUNITIES
UKHC has more scope for expansion of its network and associated health care programs. Based on the
aging population of Kentucky there is a need to initiate a long term care unit in

Project #2 Conic Sections Conic sections are the various gemetric figures created by the interection of
a plane. They are among the oldest curves in history and is one of the oldest area of study for
mathmaticians. conics were discovered by Menaechmus (c. 375 325 BC), a Greek pupil of Plato and
Exodus. He was trying to solve the famous problem duplicating a cube. Euclid studied them and
Appollonius reinforced and expanded previous results of conics into a book he named Conic Sections.
It is a series of eight books with 487 propositions. He applied his findings to the study of planetary
motion and it was used to advance the development of Greek astronomy. It is because of Appollonius
that the name ellipse, parabola, and hyperbole were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases, the circle is listed as a fourth conic. A circle is really a unique ellipse. Conics have very
unique features. For instance curves can also be defined using a straight line, the directrix, and a point
called the focus. If you measure the distance from the focus to a point on the curve, and
perpendicularly from the directrix to that point. The two distances will always be the same ratio for an
ellipse the ratio is less than 1, for a parabola the ratio is 1, and for a hyperbola the ratio is greater than
1. These ratios are known as the eccentricity, so we can say that any conic section is all points whose
distance to the focus is equal to the eccentricity times the distance to the directrix. A circle has an
eccentricity of zero, an ellipse has an eccentricity between 0 and 1, a parabola has an eccentricity of 1,
and a hyperbola has an eccentricity greater than 1.
Ellipse is known by its focal definition: it s a locus of all points P in the plane the sum of whose
distances from two fixed points F1 and F2, the foci, has a constant value. The Belgian mathematician
G. P. Dandelin in 1822 gave a beautiful proof of a conic section is a finite shape then it is always an
ellipse. First imagine a huge sphere S1 inside a cone. Let the sphere be so big as to not touch the
cutting plane. Assume it touches the cone over the circle k1. Shrink the sphere S1 (suck it into the
cone) until it touches the plane at point F1.

Lysistrata by Aristophanes
All is fair in love and war, right? Right! Aristophanes play Lysistrata is exactly that, but with a twist.
The play takes its name from the main female heroine, you guessed it, Lysistrata, an Athenian woman
with a plan to stop the Peloponnessian war. Taking an in depth look on how, we can look at her
leadership qualities that helped to make this happen in the play. From keeping the woman in line, to
depriving the men of sex, just how does she do it?
First lets examine creativity. Lysistrata hatches a plan to put an end to the Peloponnessian war once
and for all. In the first act of the play, she sets forth the motions to accomplish this in three parts. The
first of which is to deny the sexual pleasures that all the woman offer to men in Athens until a truce is
made between both nations to end the war. With all the wives and women rallied together and working
on the same page, she sets forth the next of her moves in seizing and occupying the Akropolis and its
riches to fund the war. Using these 2 motions set forth she denies the men of Athens much needed
funds to keep the armies moving, and denial of all the sexual pleasures a woman can offer her man.
slowly driving the men to look for an end to the war.
Next lets examine confidence. Lysistrata from the beginning of the play exudes it in such a way that is
noticeable but not overwhelming. Right of the bat she tells the woman who slowly start showing up
that she has a plan to save Athens and Greece from their long

British Airways also known as BA is United Kingdom based airline. Based on fleet size, British airline
is the largest airline of the United Kingdom. It is the second largest airline measured by passengers
carried. In 1972, British Airways board was established by the government of United Kingdom for
managing two nationalised airline corporations British European airways and British Overseas

Limiting Child Poverty
Child poverty: Limiting children s life chances
Ellie Chadwick
Child poverty is an issue which affects our society and will continue to as more individuals struggle
from low income to be able to provide their families with the basic materials needed to survive.
Throughout analysing the article you are able to identify that main purpose behind the text is to
discuss the issue around child poverty and the detrimental effects it can have a child s lifestyle,
education and health. With this, the article then goes on to discuss with a child who is suffering from
poverty their view on their life experiences and how it affects them physically, mentally, emotionally
and socially.
Society is able to notice how child poverty has been on the increase for the past number of years and
how this has gone on to develop moral panic. As more individuals are made aware of the significance
poverty can have this creates public anxiety as it threatens the standards of society. With regards to
living conditions, those who suffer from poverty are at an increased chance of living in inadequate
living conditions. This is seen as a massive factor which can have a negative impact on a child s health
and wellbeing as they don t have that sense of security in their own home. As Thornhill (2014) suggest
this is the prism through which they experience many other services . Poor housing can have

Britain has experienced a series of affordable housing crisis in the early 1980s and early 1990s

villages very keen to have low cost housing for local people and they are prevented by the planning
system from having it. This briefing paper refutes Stonell s claim and is written to the North Eastern

Instead of Right to buy regulation, affordable rented housing will be provided to tenants with a
maximum of 80% of the total market rent, and available on both fixed term and regular lease (PPS3,

houses would provide decent homes to low income residents and rural people from other villages. To
meet the demand of sustainable development in rural areas, PPS7 required government should follow
the planning objectives and regulations set out in PPG3, and the purpose is to provide rural people a
decent home. It also indicated that housing requirements and assessment of local affordable housing
need should be recognized by local planning authorities. Make sufficient land available and strictly

Milbourne (2008) also highlighted that tracing the cooperation with new partnership will lead a wider

authorities are not supposed to formulate affordable housing providers in planning conditions and

Cocteau s vision of what transpired between Oedipus and the Sphinx. In this version, the sphinx
blindly chooses Oedipus to be Thebes savior and even answers the riddle for him. She picks him
because she has a crush on him and is bored with her job. This Oedipus becomes king out of luck and

Plato’s 1st Argument for the Immortality of the Soul from...
Plato s 1st argument for the Immortality of the Soul from opposites and Theory of Reincarnation Plato
s Phaedo is a dialog between Phaedo, Cebes and Simmias where Socrates gives some arguments for
the immortality of the soul. In this work, Phaedo tells us about Socrates final days, who has been
convicted to death. Great philosopher does not have a fear of death because he believes that when a
man dies, the soul still exists even if the body perishes. Trying to prove his arguments, Socrates
presents two proofs Doctrine of Opposites and second which is based on Theory of Recollections. In
Phaedo he writes: That soul, I say, herself invisible, departs to the invisible world to the divine and

People from these denominations do believe in concept of rebirth. But religious sects such as
Christianity, Islam and Judaism do not believe in theory of reincarnation. This theory is very close to
Plato and some other Greek philosophers who believe in the Immortality of the soul. As for me, in
some cases I do agree with Plato in Theory of Opposites. Undoubtedly, in our world we can always
find two opposite things, actions, etc. Small and tall people, healthy and unhealthy people, sunny and
cloudy day, hot and cold weather... But I do not believe in the Immortality of the soul in general. To
my mind Plato came to this conclusion due to the times he lives in. But we cannot base our beliefs on
what we want to be true; the truth can be found by weighing the evidence for a given idea. Thus, he
took what he knew to be true at the time and formulated his opinions which were founded on that
knowledge. I guess, if Plato lived nowadays, may be he would approach to another conclusion. I do
not think that Plato makes credible arguments for the immortality of the soul. To my mind, his
concepts were built on his desires. I mean, that life is difficult and awkward enough without knowing
of our mortality. There is inexplicable reality that so many people struggle so hard and it seems so
unjust. Let s take a simple example of a man, who has passed away in the accident. He did not do

a lack of understanding of the growth relationship of individual users and wineries such as balancing
recruiting efforts and the ability to grow the two groups simultaneously. Also, the resources that were
used in the case of recruiting were heavily dedicated to recruiting wineries and not even with
individual users. Though, they had periods of strong user and winery growth that were defined by the
marketing strategies that they used. However, it was not enough in drawing long term growth of the

The ongoing method to recruit wineries and individual users alike did not involve appealing to their

Security and The International System Essay
Some scholars have remarked that the rise of globalism and international non state actors has ushered
in an age where the traditional tools of international relations are no longer necessary. Rather than
states competing with each other with the preverbal sticks, whether it be military force, economic
sanctions, partnering with other nations to deter potential aggressors, the new Post cold war world will
be dominated with carrots. States will engage each other in positive sum relations of trade and
cooperation. This however was only able to flourished because of the unrivaled military supremacy of
the United States. Without the United States as a global hegemony, traditional political instruments

However, unlike John Mearsheimer s offensive realism theory, the United States was relatively
benign. At the end of World War II, the United States was the only country with the atomic bomb, the
only major power with its industrial base intact, and capital to invest into other countries. With
exception to the Warsaw Pact, the United States saw no reason to become a threat allowing other
power to bandwagon with the United States in accordance with Stephen Walt s balance of threat
thesis. Through the containment of the Soviet Union, these institutions took root and created a
convergence of the world s nations under the United States. With the only potential rival collapsing in
1991, the security of the United States military allowed nations to focus resources on economic
development rather than military forces. With nations cooperating with one another for economic
progression rather than competing, traditional international instruments became less important.
Military force, diplomatic pressure, and alliances are all actions for the security of a nation. With the
relatively assertive United States at the head of a uni polar international system, there was no need for
significant military expenditures, and changes in the international balance of power. This ultimately
lead to Francis Fukayma s overly optimistic call for an End of History. However, regional rivals to
United States military supremacy are arising

Drug Cartell
Over the past few decades drug cartels in Mexico have begun glorifying their brutal attacks and
fearless efforts over the war on drugs and territory. Drug trafficking has become such a profitable
epidemic that various organizations have grown to exploit this area of criminality. Cartels have gained
notoriety by amassing large profits in exploiting the drug business. These organizations have created
complex strategies to smuggle vast amounts of narcotics from the arms of the producer straight into
the hands of the buyers. They have perfected this strategy successfully by distributing the illicit
narcotics with the help of their government and local law enforcement, who in return receive bribes of

Social Injustice In Richard Wright s Native Son
During the summer of 2015, I had an opportunity to read a book for my AP English class. The book
named Native Son by Richard Wright is listed as among the top 100 books by the American Library
Association. Native Son by Richard Wright was written in 1940. The protagonist in the story is a 20
year old named Bigger Thomas, a black boy; who lives in a poor area on Chicago s South Side in the
1930s. My examination and analysis of this book is that this book is about symbolism and the
pessimistic views of Bigger and this is effectively depicted by the relationships between black and
white people during the depression era. This book also depicts the central theme of social injustice that
was prevalent during those times. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a threat to the black community, political power may rise to a higher extent, making the
population double the violence of chaos and corruption. A sense of courage is needed to eradicate
violence and to end the influence of whites dominating black communities. The New York Times
article explains more in depth about how the black rights matter movement contributed to the
complexities of black political culture and how urban naturalism can be changed for a greater extent.
Life has value, but death is not simply another thing that happens to human beings. Bigger s attitude
gradually changes from not having a true meaning of life to having a true meaning of life. Reference
to Elle Hearn s quote, who is a strategic adviser, said that, It s not just about changing laws, hearts,
and minds, it s about actually changing action. From his perspective, he actually means to change the
course of humanity for the better. In the novel, Bigger realizes that an action of changing life s
meaning into something better helped him to change his own life. Although he couldn t acknowledge
that he was an educated person, he still had the time to correct his mistakes and to put off death by
living for others. The importance of the book and the article helped to draw attention to the main
theme, which is reflecting the behavior of the white society and revealing its true meaning. For
Bigger, his social attitudes and beliefs prevented him from taking opportunities for advancement.
Therefore, we all need to be ready to support ourselves and prevent racial tensions from happening.
The influence of the blacks has had a great effect on their political culture and their way of expressing

Considering that this is the first time the New Baltic Bank enters to a syndicated loan, I will point out

Representations and warranties focus on the borrower s ability legally to enter into a financial

Default or potential default clauses deals with the case of the borrower not being able to continue his

Those created by John Tiller and the other created by Laurence Tiller. Elswit explains that even though
the groups were led by different people they both wanted to produce the same outcome, unison. The
signature synchronization became a potent image of Weimar visual culture (Elswit, 51). Fosse s
choreography was primarily based on the principle of unison within this piece. Elswit argues that the
group was created as a way of responding to the industrialization of America. The girls were often
mistaken for being an American group because of this aspect. As a result the choreographic elements
were inspired by the creation of factories. Fosse s choreography was inspired by these events as he
adhered strict machine like formations of dancers within the piece. Each formation was linear and

Sometimes different genres can be used to build the same theme. In the lesson of the moth by the poet
Don Marquis, there is a common theme throughout the whole poem, what is it like to have something

Biography of Winston Churchill
The year was 1940; the world s second great World War was in full swing, with Britain and Germany
at the forefront. The fall of Britain s closest ally, France, stunned the British Empire and threw it into
disarray. Through the chaos, Winston Churchill emerged. Churchill would be an inspiring leader who
was able to rally the entire nation in times of hardship. Through his leadership, the British Bulldog
would face the Axis powers and come out victorious, as well as become a public hero for the British
people. Yet, immediately after the war, Churchill did not return to the prime minister seat because of a
shocking defeat in his re election, despite his immense reputation he gained from the war. Though
lauded by the British population for his prowess as a wartime leader, Churchill s conservative politics
were out of touch with a population ready for post war relief and led to his defeat in the 1945 election.
Churchill got his conservative politics from being raised in the Victorian era Britain, where he learned
to be ambitious, and have a strong sense of independence (Ben Moshe 8). This unrelenting ambition
Churchill obtained would earn him his reputation, and lead to his loss in the 1945 election. Churchill
practiced conservative politics, because he lived in an era when Conservatives ruled parliament
(Havighurst 63). At the turn of the century, however, conservative practices would soon become
outdated. It was with the emergence of the Liberal Party, that public opinion

consequences. She thought of being honest with her father. She did not realize that she had betrayed
her mother. It was the same for Ada too. She wanted to be honest of her feelings for George but
because of her honesty she betrayed Stewart by having an affair with George.
The scenes were a mixture of the 19th century and 20th century values. The way they had dressed

The Manual Labor Movement
During the early 1800 s, different schools served different functions. Mechanic s Institutes combined
practice with the study of science. Lyceums attended to cultural as well as educational needs and
aroused interest in agricultural and industrial education. The manual labor movement attempted to

Gillette s Acquisition of Duracell
Key Issues
The Gillette Company was founded in 1901 in a small office in Boston. Since its departure, Gillette
has positioned itself as one of the most recognizable brands not only through their safety razor blades,
but also through corporate diversification. This included the acquisition of a number of major
companies, most recently Duracell. Prior to this acquisition, the Duracell Corporation had been the
leading producer of alkaline batteries in the United States and maintained consistent growth in
revenues from 1991 1996. Since their purchase of Duracell, their stock price has fallen 45% to a low

The rivalry in this industry has become so intense that it is not uncommon for these companies to
bring each other to court for various claims made in their new product launches. Outside of the
competitive environment potential opportunities in large developing economies (like India) have an
untapped market with regard to the alkaline batteries. The conversion from zinc carbon batteries to
alkaline was much slower outside the United States then anticipated and this hindered international
sales for some battery companies. Alkaline batteries in these foreign markets only make up 3%
compared to 70% in the United States. The reason for the slow conversion in the foreign markets is
due to tough economic times and the high cost associated with setting up manufacturing facilities
capable of alkaline production.
Internal: Prior to Gillette acquiring Duracell in 1996, the Duracell Corporation maintained a constant

Theme Of Wealth In Great Expectations

money shape who they are, and how they act. Throughout the first part of the novel, Dickens writing
shows that money does not always equal happiness.
Pip has had no experiences with the upper class by the beginning of Great Expectations, and as a

It was then an old woman began scorning me for questioning Athena s glorious artwork. She plead

I declared, My opinion remains the same, if your goddess is so skilled may she not evade a contest! It
was then to both my excitement and horror, I watched this seemingly insignificant old woman

  • 2. The Similarities Between Classical Music and Ellington s Jazz One of the greatest tragedies in the 20th century can be seen in the debasing of the Jazz genre as a unworthy equal to it s predecessor, European Classical music. This can be seen in various statements about Jazz, such as Boris Gibalin commit, The Jazz Mania has taken on the character of a lingering illness and must be cured by means of forceful intervention. 1 This conflict can be traced through out the history of Jazz, as Classical composers have relatively disregarded this new type of music. Before Duke Ellington s Cotton Club performances, Jazz play on the radio was delegated for late night audience only. This sub culture treatment has led many critics to disregard the Jazz movement as a dance craze, or unsuccessful recreations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To most people the infusion of African tonality into Duke Ellington s music to create Negro art , questions the connection between European music and Jazz. Here Constant Lambert responds to this. If anyone doubts the essential element of European sophistication in Jazz, it is a simple matter for his to compare a typical piece of Jazz, such as Duke Ellington Swampy River, first with a lyric by Grieg and then with a record of African music. It must be clear to even the most prejudiced listener that apart from a few rhythmical peculiarities the Ellington piece has far more in common with the music of Grieg 6 One must understand that even when Duke infused the two tonalities of music; he still was obligated to work within guidelines of the European Harmonic tradition.7 Yet by him keeping with this tradition he is not obligated to write music in the form of previous composers such as Stravinsky, Mozart, or Bach, for to do that would delegate Ellington s music as a duplicate work. Here is the contradiction, for no Classical composer has ever been chastise for creativity in their sound, and yet how do you explain the criticism of Ellington s work? The intentional fusing of African and European tonality is nothing more than a continuation of numerous inventive techniques used by musicians as seen in the changing sounds and techniques of Classical music over time? Thus to criticize Duke for his originality one would also have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Self Assessment IIi And Vi Self Assessment III and VI In self Assessment III the first sections talks about what type of organizational system I would prefer. Organizational Structure is a system that defines the levels of hierarchy within an organization. The organizational structure classifies each job, explains its function, and who it reports to within the organization. Based on my scores they suggest I prefer to work in a mechanistic structure rather than a organic structure. In a mechanistic structure people work separately and specialize on only one task. Also within a mechanistic the hierarchy of authority is well defined. The first section also measures my ability to delegate in the work place. According to my score I need to substantial improve on my ability to delegate. Based on the analysis delegating authority are what many managers have difficult doing. My ratio for being able to give feedback is a four out four. This means my self perceived strength and weakness are equal, but I could work to improve ratio to be more self perceived in strength. In the section labeled careers it indicates that I my preferred organizational culture that informal, humanistic, flexible, and innovative culture. These traits fall under humanistic culture even thought my other score suggested I prefer a mechanistic structure. It also indicates that I m not that committed to my job since my score falls below the mean. This is ok since not being committed to ones job is the new norm than it was ... • 6. Let Her Go Poem Analysis Many songs have very poetic lyrics and could be a great poem also. The song I chose to compare to a poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I chose this song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song, there is use of figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliteration and assonance, and end rhymes. The song, Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an oxymoron and many uses of figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an oxymoron throughout the song in the chorus again, which also includes the title of the song. The lyric that was used is, Only know you ve been high when you re feeling low . This is an oxymoron because it contradictory terms, high and low, appear in conjunction with one another. It is also making a comparison which will be described later. The first use of figurative language in the song is, Everything you touch surely dies . Passenger uses a hyperbole in this lyric by making and exaggeration and not speaking of it in realistic terms. Everything anyone touches cannot and will not actually die, so the song writer uses their first figurative language. The second lyric I found that used figurative language was, But dreams come slow and they go so fast and Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast . In both lines, personification is being used. They both describe love and dreams as people or things, saying that they go slow and fast. This is almost as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the complexity of payment system is considered as major weakness that offers immense pressure on UKHC due to changing health care reforms (Karpf, Lofgren, Bricker, et al, 2009). Major concerns for UKHC in present situation are, Changing in reimbursement structures from volume based payments to quality and outcome based payment structures. Even though growing in, patient centered and quality care rate there is public concern about the quality, access and safety of care provided. Growing awareness about medicine and independence of patients are the aspects that are challenging the medical procedures. Growing healthcare costs Even though the patient sharing is good from bluegrass funding, it is yet to provide leverage for patients form rural and low economy class. The rate of quality has declined form 12th rank to 19th rank in the recent quality analysis which UKHC need to realize. Extension of the services is needed for the inpatients and emergency is necessary due to increasing load of patients (Fact book, 2015). Implementation of extension process is necessary to increase the number of beds and associated staff. • 8. Project #2 Project #2 Conic Sections Conic sections are the various gemetric figures created by the interection of a plane. They are among the oldest curves in history and is one of the oldest area of study for mathmaticians. conics were discovered by Menaechmus (c. 375 325 BC), a Greek pupil of Plato and Exodus. He was trying to solve the famous problem duplicating a cube. Euclid studied them and Appollonius reinforced and expanded previous results of conics into a book he named Conic Sections. It is a series of eight books with 487 propositions. He applied his findings to the study of planetary motion and it was used to advance the development of Greek astronomy. It is because of Appollonius that the name ellipse, parabola, and hyperbole were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some cases, the circle is listed as a fourth conic. A circle is really a unique ellipse. Conics have very unique features. For instance curves can also be defined using a straight line, the directrix, and a point called the focus. If you measure the distance from the focus to a point on the curve, and perpendicularly from the directrix to that point. The two distances will always be the same ratio for an ellipse the ratio is less than 1, for a parabola the ratio is 1, and for a hyperbola the ratio is greater than 1. These ratios are known as the eccentricity, so we can say that any conic section is all points whose distance to the focus is equal to the eccentricity times the distance to the directrix. A circle has an eccentricity of zero, an ellipse has an eccentricity between 0 and 1, a parabola has an eccentricity of 1, and a hyperbola has an eccentricity greater than 1. Ellipse is known by its focal definition: it s a locus of all points P in the plane the sum of whose distances from two fixed points F1 and F2, the foci, has a constant value. The Belgian mathematician G. P. Dandelin in 1822 gave a beautiful proof of a conic section is a finite shape then it is always an ellipse. First imagine a huge sphere S1 inside a cone. Let the sphere be so big as to not touch the cutting plane. Assume it touches the cone over the circle k1. Shrink the sphere S1 (suck it into the cone) until it touches the plane at point F1. ... • 10. Lysistrata by Aristophanes All is fair in love and war, right? Right! Aristophanes play Lysistrata is exactly that, but with a twist. The play takes its name from the main female heroine, you guessed it, Lysistrata, an Athenian woman with a plan to stop the Peloponnessian war. Taking an in depth look on how, we can look at her leadership qualities that helped to make this happen in the play. From keeping the woman in line, to depriving the men of sex, just how does she do it? First lets examine creativity. Lysistrata hatches a plan to put an end to the Peloponnessian war once and for all. In the first act of the play, she sets forth the motions to accomplish this in three parts. The first of which is to deny the sexual pleasures that all the woman offer to men in Athens until a truce is made between both nations to end the war. With all the wives and women rallied together and working on the same page, she sets forth the next of her moves in seizing and occupying the Akropolis and its riches to fund the war. Using these 2 motions set forth she denies the men of Athens much needed funds to keep the armies moving, and denial of all the sexual pleasures a woman can offer her man. slowly driving the men to look for an end to the war. Undoubtedly, in our world we can always find two opposite things, actions, etc. Small and tall people, healthy and unhealthy people, sunny and cloudy day, hot and cold weather... But I do not believe in the Immortality of the soul in general. To my mind Plato came to this conclusion due to the times he lives in. But, this all changes when he starts going to the Satis house and socializing with Ms. Havisham and her daughter, Estella. But no one will truly understand the misery you inflicted, dreams you shattered, and the curse you bestowed. No one will see you the way I do. Don t mistake me, I acknowledge my flaws.
