The BTK Killer is a psychotic male named Dennis Rader. His murder spree started in 1974 with the
Otero family. Dennis then went through 10 victims without getting convicted till 1991. Throughout
Dennis s crime spree he would send messages and puzzles to KAKE and the police taunting them by
basically admitting to it. The reason why they couldn t convict him was that they didn t know who it
was at all. The police then send Dennis messages and Dennis sent a message back. Dennis asks the

The Great Famine
Introduction The Great Famine occurred in Ireland between 1845 and 1850 (Gray 2004). The famine
was caused by infectious diseases to potato crops and to humans, but also by structural issues in
Ireland at the time of the occurrence (Gray 2004). The demography of Ireland changed drastically
during the span of less than a decade. Prior to the famine, the Irish population was at 8.4 million in
1844 but as a result of the famine, a decline of 2.2 million people left Ireland with only a population of
6.6 million people in 1951 (Mokyr 2016). Research from the 1980s indicates the famine and
accompanying diseases killed approximately 1.1 million people and the other half became emigrants
(Gray 2004). The Irish were incredibly vulnerable to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1846, Canada received 32,750 people. The following year, over 110,000 Irish people left from
either their country or from Britain to reach Canada, causing a peak in immigration rates referred to as
Black 47 (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Canada reacted to the peak by implementing more costly head
taxes on immigrants and harsher rules of navigation laws, such as the Passengers to North America
Act of 1848. The new laws caused a drastic drop of Irish immigrants, with the figure of 31,065 Irish
emigrants in the same year (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Although people of Canada were
sympathetic to the Irish situation, the surge of Irish immigrants posed an imbalance in Canadian
population that would have affected the infrastructure at the time. Thus, the government posed laws as
a method of regulation to maintain their

It was concluded that the height of the atrium and the fan locations have obvious effect on the efficient
abstraction. Atrium with height more than 30 m with exhaust fans located towards the ends may
require attention to control the smoke abstraction efficiently.
Yi, Hou, Li and Feng Chow [13] study the relation between the atrium aspect ratio under different heat
release rate of fire the flooding time flow of smoke occurs and, 32 simulations were performed using a
model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). Table 2.4 shows the size of the atrium and HRR of

floor of the fire room, and 27 m height atrium. The vents in the fire floor were both (2×1.5) meter with
located at 1 m above the floor with 20 oC ambient temperature.
Figure 2.8 listed the early stage situation of the fire in a floor near to an atrium. The fire floor has 2
vertical vents named WA and WB and there are open to both the atrium and outside. The atrium
ceiling is open, and it is assumed that there is an ideal isolation between the atrium and the adjacent
floors.

moves inside the fire floor at the same time from the 2 vents. Figure 2.8 shows the

Shade Of Magic
A Darker Shade of Magic , written by V.E. Schwab, tells the story of a Kell, an antari someone who is
able to cast magic using blood. In Kell s world, there are multiple Londons grey, red, white, and black.
Kell uses his magic to travel between these worlds, which have relatively the same structure but are
wildly different, especially in the amount of magic and the way it is handled. One day, when Kell is
out and about doing work for the royal family of Red London (the London he belongs to), he falls into
possession of a powerful and dangerous talisman from the elusive Black London. After returning to
Red London, unwittingly in possession of such a dangerous thing, Kell meets a pirate girl named Lila,
who steals the talisman from him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It doesn t receive a higher score for two main reasons: the pacing and characters. The plot of this book
is quite simple, and can be summarized while using only a short number of sentences. Scenes in the
book move slowly, though it never seems to drag on. The writing style makes up for the lack in pace,
which covers it up nicely. Also, I didn t enjoy the characters as much as I could, though it didn t
necessarily make me not like the book. My main problem character wise was with Lila, a no nonsense,
tough girl that prefers to dress androgynously. She is a paragon of stereotypes pickpocket, strong
willed and boyish. The way she acts is quite predictable, and I knew the moment she was introduced
that she would be kissing Kell by halfway through the book. I was proved correct, much to my
dismay. Also, the main antagonists, Astrid and Athos Dane, were only characterised by cruelty and
villainy. They are powerful with their magic and use it to do terrible things, but with no motive other
than magic equals power . It s understandable, but could be fleshed out a bit more. One thing I did
enjoy about them was the problem that they posed. It s a very realistic one for Kell to face considering
the setting, and proved However, when casting all this aside, A Darker Shade of Magic really is
actually quite enjoyable of a read. I would definitely recommend it to those who take

such change might have affected administrational structure on empowering faculty. We used the data

Parents, the general public and the media seem to applaud these efforts (Wiggins). The scores on these
standardized tests, such as the ITBS, are published in many local and statewide newspapers.
Universities are evaluated and compared to each other using predominately this test data. If this
teaching to the test is beneficial for raising university s test scores, then maybe we should change the
whole university environment to become more aligned with those elements that would foster
improvement on these tests. If it raises test scores it must be sound educational practice. Can this be
accurate? Empowerment Through Online Education
In a 2007 report published by the Sloan Consortium, most universities stated that the main reasons
they continued to expand their online education programs were because such programs improved
student access to education. For example, when universities offer courses online, they can work
around limited classroom space, instructor shortages, and conflicting course schedules to offer more
students more classes. Similarly, in taking an online course that allows them to complete assignments
at their own pace, students can work around their busy course and work schedules, as well as tailor
their coursework to their own personal learning styles. Students increasingly enroll in online courses
over their summer break while they live with their parents and work summer jobs.

Eagle Ford Shale Industry Analysis
Texas has always been proud of their heritage and their industry. The boost in the economy is much
appreciated by Texas, and our government appears to be hushed by the counter weights and balances
where money appears to overpower the concern of environmental harm. Two articles that were
reviewed gave the opportunity to enlightened Texans about how production appears to be affecting air
quality and water and in turn is hurting Texans health. Through facts presented, it is apparent that
Texas government must take measures to improve the regulatory agencies so that the health of Texans
is secure. I am personally appalled by the facts stated in the articles, and reform is definitely required.

The Interpretation Of Oppression By Marilyn Frye
Nikky Xiong Feminist Philosophy Nancy Bauer Oct 12th, 2015 The Interpretation of Oppression
Women and men are born equal. However, females are receiving unequal judgement and unfair
treatment in the society, and thus Marilyn Frye brings up the notion of oppression , claiming that
women are oppressed. Throughout the essay, I will first give the definition of Frye s oppression and
then list 5 critical qualifications to be considered oppressed. After that, I will explain my appreciation
on Frye s perspective on elaborating oppression using the bird cage analogy. I will support Frye s
double bind argument for sexism followed by flaws in the argument. Furthermore, I will point out
some social group are mistakenly placed inside or outside the parameters of oppression, once the
theory of oppression extends over other marginal groups. Given the definition of oppression as a
system of interrelated barriers and forces which mold , immobilize , and reduce a certain group of
people, and affect their subordination to another group (Frye 4), Frye lists out five premises in order to
be considered oppressed. First of all, the group of people must be restricted. In other words, there must
be limitations or barriers on them. For example, women make 78 cents for every dollar earned by men
(Kessler 1). Second, those restrictions surely cause harm, which must outweigh any potential benefits
oppressed groups experience as a result of those same restrictions (Gillingham 1). For

India and Pakistan Negotiations
There have been numerous negotiations taken place between India and Pakistan since 1947. They
have ranged from inconsequential issues such as Border Railway Crossing and Time Tables to highly
disputatious ones like National Security interests including Nuclear Confidence building measures and
to the highly infamous Kashmir issue.
Before discussing the negotiations which occurred over the Kashmir issue, we need to know the origin
of the Kashmir problem!
A Walk into the History
After the departure of the British Empire from the Indian Subcontinent, it led to the formation of two
different countries India and Pakistan along religious lines (Hinduism and Islam). (Kux, 87) These two
new dominions had around 650 states run by princes. Theoretically these states had the option of
choosing either of the countries or remain independent. By remaining independent they would have let
monarchy leap over democracy. These independent states were advised by the British Government to
get associated with either of the two dominions keeping in view the geographical and other relevant
considerations, for the sole purpose of securing their defence, foreign relations and other specified
matters.
One of these newly independent states was Kashmir, which according to its geographical positioning
had the option of choosing either of the two dominions but there lied a problem which was, the ruler
of Kashmir was a Hindu believer but the majority of the population in Kashmir was Muslim. Being

Analysis Of The Wretched Of The Earth By Frrantz Fanon
Frantz Fanon once said in The Wretched of the Earth, The colonized underdeveloped man is a political
creature in the most global sense of the term. Frantz Fanon was born in 1925 in Martinique, a French
colony in the Caribbean Sea. He was descended from African slaves who had previously been brought
to the island. Fanon left Martinique at the age of 18 and fought for France in the last years of World
War II. It was during the war that he experienced extensive racism from his white European peers.
This would continue to influence his worldview for the rest of his short life. Fanon s critical work has
established him as an outstanding theoretician of a wide range of issues, such as identity, nationalism,
black consciousness, the role of violence in the struggle for decolonization, and language as an index
of power. His body of work has been influential in fields like philosophy, politics, psychiatry, cultural
studies, and gender studies, as well. Black Skin, White Masks (written in 1952) and The Wretched of
the Earth (written in 1961) two books that state Fanon santi colonial revolutionary thoughts made him
an important contributor in the field of postcolonial studies. He is a controversial image in the field of
post colonialism despite his contributions in a wide range of fields of study he has been intensively
criticized for his abstract generalizations and his absolutism. Fanon s experience and the general
background of that period justify his bitterness when he talks for

Death Of A Salesman Self Deception Essay
An individual s ability to successfully recognize the reality from illusions is significantly influenced
by their understanding of themselves. Many choose to use self perception to prevent themselves from
the realization of living through self deception. However, in Arthur Miller s modern play, Death of a
Salesman, Miller explores the relationship between self deception and reality through the character
development of Biff Loman. Initially, Biff s perception of himself is tremendously influenced by his
father, Willy Loman, who unknowingly, lives a life full of illusions. As a result, these illusions prompt
Willy to set unrealistic expectations for Biff. However, as the play progresses, Biff realizes the
impracticality of these expectations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Willy s perseverance to direct Biff into success has resulted to Biff s desperate acts to earn praise from
his father. However, Biff s dishonest acts of stealing are often justified by Willy through disregard and
excuse, even expressing that the Coach will probably congratulate [Biff] for [his] initiative . Instead of
correcting his mistakes, Willy continuously expresses his belief of Biff s predetermined success as a
result of being attractive and well liked. These acts effectively exemplifies Biff s adherence to self
deception as he imagines himself as an important figure in other people s lives. It can be seen that his
belief of being destined for success prevents him from allowing himself recognize the destruction it
brings. As a result, Biff has allowed how Willy views him become how he perceives himself. This self
deception has not only affected the actions in his childhood but as well as his decisions when finding
his role in the workplace. As stated above, Willy s consistent beliefs of his son s predestined success
results to Biff s immense confidence in himself. However, this confidence have provided him a false
perception of himself as he struggle to keep a stable job and even faces imprisonment. It can be seen
that Biff s lack of self perception and compliance to ideals of Willy has only allowed him to restrain
and prevent him from recognizing the difference between illusion and reality resulting in the lack of

Management Styles Of Leadership Styles
Literature Review Outline
I. Introduction
a. A key determinant in an organizational success is directly related with the management styles of
leadership. According to Parris Peachey (2013), the key to understanding an organizations success is
to study its leaders. A leader s ability to inspire, motive, and create a strong sense of engagement and
commitment to the organization will determine the success or failure in the attainment of goals.
Transformational, charismatic, and servant leadership are three styles that organizational leaders might
possess. While there is no predetermined best style of leadership, one can describe leadership and
management as situational. The overriding goal of any organization is building a high performing
organization which is paramount for short and long term success (DeGraw Sizoo, 2013). Both the
leader and the organization should select the most appropriate style to enhance organizations
probability for effectiveness and attainment of desire goals. Studies have shown when organizations
have the right leadership in place, an organization can have shared vision that is articulated in a
manner where subordinates desire work enthusiastically towards the accomplishment of the goals
(Parris Peachey, 2013).

Analysis Of The Book Of Cannibals
History: Whose Story Is It?
Interactions between people are often evaluated in terms of lands gained, lives lost, and valor earned,
but there is an arguably more powerful spoil of war that is rarely discussed: the right to write the story.
The victorious party gets to tell the tale, and indubitably the defeated are portrayed extremely
negatively if at all. Consider the many extant ancient Spanish texts compared to the lack of
decipherable Mayan texts: as part of their victory over the Mayans, the Spanish burned the Yucatan
almanacs. Cultural genocide of this sort is not rare by any means; imperialism leaves a trail of extinct
and dying cultures in its wake. The cannibalistic metaphor in Montaigne s Of Cannibals as well as the
essay itself illustrate how history is shaped by dominant narratives, made even more evident in King s
discussion of attitudes towards Native Americans in The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of
Native People in North America.
Montaigne s description of natives consuming the defeated is analogous to European culture
displacing native culture. Just as the prisoner of war sang that part of him is his captor s own fathers
and grandfathers that he has previously consumed, the European domination of native culture became
another chapter in European history. The flesh the prisoner consumed, however, did not retain its
original shape. Instead, it was broken down and absorbed into his being. Similarly, the European
subsummation of Native American

Suddenly, once my father decided let go of my shoulders, I found myself spiraling down a hill

Fahrenheit 451 Critical Analysis
In school, people crave acceptance. Putting themselves at a lower expectation to meet the needs of
another. Every year, students try to pick classes that could put them in the same classes as their
friends. Last year, when signing up for classes, I was hoping to get into similar classes with my
friends. After telling them about some of the classes I was interested in, my ideas were immediately
shut down. My friends, and even my parents told me that, the ideas I interpreted as informational,
were insufficient and would get me nowhere in life. They told me I should pick something to help
advance my career in the future. If my parents told me to choose something else, who was I to
disagree? I felt like I was stuck in a box, leading to get out, but nobody was around to hear me. So I
ended up switching my classes, and moving down some levels to be with friends. My conformity
caused me to lower my own standards and lowers the expectations of those around me. Though i faced
consequences by conforming, there are several examples that examine the same concepts of
conformity at a more extreme level in Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451. Excessive censorship from a
higher authority most likely leads to conformity from subordinates.

The Works of Phillis Wheatley Essay examples
The Works of Phillis Wheatley
Biography:
Phillis Wheatley was born in West Africa around 1753. Sometime after her birth, she was brought to
America and purchased by John Wheatley in 1761. He turned Phillis over to his wife, Susanna, to
work as a personal maid. After realizing Phillis intellect, the Wheatley family encouraged Phillis to
study the Bible and read English and Latin literature, history and geography.
Wheatley s first poem was published in a Rhode Island newspaper in 1767. Poems on Various
Subjects consisted of thirty eight poems written by Wheatley, and it could be found in London in
1773. Wheatley died on December 5, 1784.*

There are many ways in which this poem could be read. A white could have read it as either a
submissive praise of Christianity or a belief that a slave believed in equality. An African American
could have read it with similar perspectives. The whites would have found the submissive reading to
be more favorable, and the African Americans would have favored the reading of equality. However, it
was doubtful that many, if any blacks, were permitted to read any of Wheatley s work.
Wheatley tended to write many religiously based poems. They all consisted of her true opinions. They
ranged from speaking about dead reverends that she respected to her opinions about the lives of
Atheist and Deist.
Atheism called out the downfalls that Wheatley believed to be corrupting the lives of those that did
not believe in God. She accused Atheists of being self centered and selfish, and she wrote, [t]hy heart
in unbelief will harder grow...Thy unbelief disturbs the peaceful mind (Wheatley 130). Since
Wheatley had found her freedom in her Christianity, she felt as though Christianity was the sole road
to happiness during and after life. Wheatley knew what she believed in, and she was not afraid to let
the world know. The Deists were not safe from Wheatley s criticism either. She accused the Deists of
being the children of Satan (Wheatley 131). Some people might have found

The APA format is the official style of the American Psychological Association; in other word it is the
most common cited source used in psychology, education and social science based on the article: APA
format: 12 basic rules. Even if this format seems to be a littler complicate because of all the process
that need to be done, it is absolutely beneficiary for the writer as well as for the reader to present and
subtract the idea from the paper. The major components of the APA formatted paper are: 1) Title Page,
2) Abstract, 3) Main Body, and 4) References. Along with these components we use: Double Space,
New Time Roman and Front Size 12. The three major learning takeaways obtained from the link are:

The Problem Of The Cloud Environment
Migrating from any host technology into college technology can be a very cumbersome process filled
with many problems. The first problem that will be identified will be the issue of the migration as will
we utilize a disaster recovery type migration or will there be a replication. In addition to this migration
there is also the event of users and how information will be relayed from one location to another
location. When it comes to the migration aspect of the information there are many things that need to
be taken into account such as load balancing redundancy and security controls. The cloud environment
needs to be supportive of these aspects and there should be a dictation of how information is going to
be flowing throughout the environment. VPNS are utilized to their fullest within our infrastructure so
encryption is very important as firewalls are inside of our Network segregating out VLAN of VLAN
transactions as well as domain to domain transactions. Additional problem that will prove to be easy to
understand and evolve it is software and Licensing. As this is one aspect that can be overlooked from
various people however software needs to be addressed as we might decide to move to a different
software infrastructure but keeping the same infrastructure will be easy to maintain. Applications as
well as operating systems need to be addressed when it comes to this process as well. Within the cloud
the option arises that users are able to work from home but this option will

Thurgood Marshall s Influence On The United States
Thurgood Marshall was a man who cared a lot about the law. Marshall believed that the law could fix
most if not all problems. Marshall wanted equality for all citizens. In his life he strived for equality,
especially for colored people and whites. I believe that Thurgood Marshall s greatest influence on the
United States was him fighting for rights to not be segregated. Marshall fought to be able to be in the
same room as whites along with other things being taken away from colored people. Marshall being
colored himself knew a lot about being segregated from the whites.
He influenced the people of the United States by telling them that they shouldn t allow segregation
any more. Marshall said In recognizing the humanity of our fellow

Communication Technology In Fahrenheit 451, By Ray Bradbury
In a society that is dictatorial and undemocratic, books are prohibited and firemen s duty is to burn any
literature in the novel, Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury. Books are seen in a negative way because it
makes people from Bradbury s society question and think. The literature in this novel is replaced with
a television called a parlor wall and other advanced technological commodities. These commodities
allow people to lack communication skills because of how much interest they pay to their technology
rather than spending time with their friends or family. They also tend to miss what is going on around
them. In Today s society young adults lack communication skills like Bradbury s society because of

Today s young adults have a lack of communication with friends and family because of technology
such as social media, video games or television. In our society, parlor walls can be seen as those
commodities. The large flat screen tv s or IPads are today s enthusiast. Social media in our country
and the globalizing world has become the voice, eye, ear, heart, and memory of the individuals. It has
aspects which strengthen, weaken and include communication between the individuals and also it
provides convenience for time and place. This, according to TNS Digital Life Research that carried
out a study in 2011 and held 1.938.059.098 people that were online. Researchers were able to test how
many people prefer to communicate through social media or rather be involved in some sort of social
media instead of actually going out and interacting. These studies show and give a glimpse of how
many people are more interested to spend time on social media instead of building new relationships.

of some aspects of technology that are similar, which are the parlor walls and social media, television

Eleanor Of Aquitaine Analysis
Before one can get into the great, yet surprisingly simple, debate over whether or not the capital
figural statue heads, on the right side of the apse, in the interior at Notre Dame Du Bourg at Langon
are in fact the sculptural depictions of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II of England; firstly one must
have a general understanding of not only Eleanor s life but of the tradition of Romanesque sculpture.
Starting, a brief synopsis of the life of the great Eleanor of Aquitaine: she was born during the 12th
century in 1122 and lived until she was eighty two. Eleanor was the proud daughter of a distinguished
dynasty, and she never forgot her lineage: successors to Carolingians which equalled the Capetians
and surpassed the Plantagenets in prestige. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The capital in question, is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the Cloisters.
According to files at the Cloisters, it is impossible to date exactly when this capital and the seven
others at Langon where created, but they are estimated to have been sculpted between 1155 and 1183.
The files at the Cloisters also claim, that there is no direct connection can be established between
Eleanor and Henry, and the priory of Langon. However in contrary during their nuptial progress, they
visited the Church of Notre Dame du Bourg at Langon. As the Church at Langon was well underway
but still undergoing construction, thus making the capital dedication possible, even if Eleanor and
Henry were not there at the time of the creation of the sculpture, due to the establishment of travelling
ateliers masons the likeness of the most powerful people would have generally been known. The rise
of figural sculpture in the Romanesque period occurred simultaneously with the rise of the artist. The
early 12th century in Europe, brought about the revival of figural stone sculpture to a high level of
stylistic subtlety and iconographic complexity. This expressionist style was combined with theological
motifs, nature, and the functionality of images that came to represent a certain truth as reality. It was in
this context, that the artist, following the patrons

In this research is to show the differences of the Austroads pavement design and AASHTO pavement
design. Both Austroad and AASHTO are used for pavement design to design the pavement layers but
both have different methodology and assumptions. So that, the research will be the focus and compare
on their methodology and assumptions. According to both assumptions, a simple road that been

KENLAYER are very important software for pavement design and both are commonly used in
Australia. Austroads pavement design has a design guide in 2003. This pavement design guide
contains two types of design processes for flexible pavements. The design processes are the empirical

very flexible and portable for all the pavement design. Furthermore, mechanistic design can be known
as semi empirical in pavement design. For the mechanistic design process, the first process is about
the design traffic (ESA). To design the traffic, traffic loading is the main parameter to be known.
Traffic loading contains four type of design such as seal design, highway pavement design, airports
design, ports and log handling yards. Seal design is using the equivalent light vehicles, for examples to

heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs) only and converted to Equivalent Standard Axles (ESA) but

handling yards, they are using the 4th power rule only for converting the loads without using the ESA.
The second process is a proposed pavement model. The pavement model includes the ESA loading
and the layers defined by E, v and h. pavement model also includes the anisotropic and

Environmental Effects Of Urbanization On Shanghai And New...
A Comparison: environmental effects of urbanization in Shanghai and New York City
Since the industrial revolution, many developed and developing countries have begun the process of
urbanization to achieve faster development. The transformation from rural to urban brings the human
beings convenience and wealth. However, in the past decade, many cities have met not only benefits
but also challenges. Environmental problems continue to grow in those high density areas. To
investigate these problems and their influences, two cities, from a developed country and a developing
country each, New York City (the U.S.A) and Shanghai (China) are chosen to compare. Both cities are
economic centers in their own countries. New York City started its urbanization in the 19th century
while Shanghai started in around 1980s. The process NYC has experienced, especially environmental
problems, is a good example for Shanghai government to learn from when it continues its urbanization
step in the future. Three problems are investigated: air pollution, water quality and soil contamination.
These ones are significant in our lives as they can affect our organs and thus influences our health
directly.
Through urbanization, the most common view is the establishment of factories. Most of these factories
are located in heavy industrial areas of the cities. It is easy to hypotheses that air quality has become
worse in Shanghai since it started urbanization in the 1980s. However, there is not a proportional

How Technology Has Changed Business
The rise in technology over the last two decades has affected businesses tremendously. E business is
changing not only how we buy and sell but is transforming the way we do business altogether. In the
fast paced and competitive nature of the business marketplace, e business has allowed companies to
increase the value of their organization by improving their operations, not just allowing customers to
buy over the internet. In order to stay competitive, businesses must embrace the culture change into
new technology. This is one of the greatest challenges that business face today. It is important to
recognize how technology has influenced businesses, how new technologies can be adopted, and what
it means for consumers and organizations.
E business is the use of Internet technologies to link customers, suppliers, business partners, and
employees (Information Week, Dec 13, 1999). This can be in the form of e commerce websites that
offer sale transactions, customer service websites, intranets and enterprise portals, extranets and
supply chains, and lastly, IP electronic data interchange. The use of these different networks and
technologies all businesses to improve, enable, enhance, invent, or transform a business process.
Basically, technology helps build and manage relationships within a business to potentially transform
a firm into a networked entity with seamless supply chains and superior value creation processes.
The adoption of innovative technology can be viewed from

How Is Chris Brander Presented In Just Friends
The characters in the 2005 film, Just Friends are a very interesting bunch. They are all different in
many ways but, somehow share some of the same qualities. The movies stars Ryan Reynolds, who
portrays Chris Brander. Chris Brander is a well rounded character who somehow evolves as the movie
goes on. Chris was in love with Jamie Palamino portrayed by Amy Smart; Jamie was a somewhat a
flat character who did not change much at all. A character whose transformation was similar to Chris s
was Dusty Dinkleman who was portrayed by Chris Klein. While it seems that Jamie and Samantha
James have a one similarity by the name of Chris Brander. The main character Chris Brander was an
evolving character he went through some pretty big changes both mentally and physically. As the
movie starts, Chris is seen as this overweight, unpopular nerd in high school. He is in love with his
best friend Jamie Palamino, a popular girl, who has officially Friend Zoned him. Being Friend Zoned
is the one thing every guy on the face of the earth dreads. Once in the Friend Zone ... Show more

Chris leaves his hometown with the intent of never returning. He mistakenly returns a decade later as
a different person. This is surprisingly normal in real life; people leave home after high school and go
through some life altering change while away. They return and sometimes the people they return to are
happy with the change, and then they may not like the change they see. Chris returns as a fit and slim
womanizer who is arrogant and rude. Guys are not born jerks and womanizers they turn into them,
because of their experience with girls. They start off as nice little boys who likes the girl who only
likes the Jerk who pulls her hair. Chris turns into the jerk who pulls the girls hair because he thinks
that is guy that Jamie wants. This notion is based on the guys she dated in high school not the guys she
dates ten years

Comparison of Anthem for Doomed Youth and An Irish Airman...
Comparison of Anthem for Doomed Youth and An Irish Airman Foresees His Death William Butler
Yeats has written many pieces of literature, mainly about Ireland as that is his passion and cause of
writing. However his poem An Irish Airman Foresees His Death is not solely about Ireland and even
though it includes that theme it is rather a criticism of apathetic people who have no reason for going
to war. The form of Yeats poem is very structured and regular. The rhyme scheme is ABAB the whole
way through the poem and has an unstressed, stressed beat every time. The poem is made up of one
sixteen lined stanza and has a straight forward structure. Yeats has used this format for emphasis to get
his point across. He has made the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a sonnet and is divided into an octet and a sestet because focus of the poem changes from
the battle field to home images and the division is a good way to show that. The rhyme scheme is
more irregular than An Irish Airman Foresees His Death as the lines aren t all totally the same rhythm.
Owen has made the poems form confusing and chaotic as that is how he sees war to be. WB Yeats has
made the tone of his poem cold and lacking in emotion. This is shown from the very beginning,
including in the title. The title of the poem is An Irish Airman Foresees his Death and because it is a
person anticipating their death, it is a very serious matter. However Yeats has made this line just a
statement showing us that the poem is very unemotional. Yeats has composed the rest of the poem
using only statements also, showing no heightening of emotion. He has made the poems tone this way
as this is how he wants to present Major Robert Gregory as being. Yeats forces him to speak in such a
way that he is shown to be pessimistic about life and an uninspiring person. He makes this clear when
Gregory says, Those I fight I do not hate, Those that I guard I do not love; Here the emotional impact
is minimised because even though the words hate and love are quite strong, they are contrasted against
each other and also used with I do not so it is balanced out

John Stuart Mill, And The Deontological Theory Of Ethics
Frequently brought up in modern conversations between everyday people and behavioral researchers
alike, issues regarding morality and ethics have become increasingly prevalent. With the current
global political climate drawing attention to and/or raising awareness for various humanitarian crises,
such as the massive destruction in Puerto Rico that has left the entire island in ruin or refugee
Rohingya people fleeing persecution in Myanmar and Bangladesh, it is imperative to understand the
logistics of possible relief efforts through a philosophical lens. Two well developed theories that offer
solutions to such problems are Utilitarianism, proposed by John Stuart Mill, and the Deontological
Theory of Ethics, advocated for by Immanuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although originally postulated by Jeremy Bentham, this theory that advocates for the greatest good
{sunnum bonum}flourished under the formulation of John Stuart Mill. A commonly simplified
principle, the greatest total net good is similar to that of a mathematical formula {taking all of the
effects of an action, applying them to everyone affected, and finally subtracting the totality of bad
effects from that of the relatively good ones}. Assuming that true happiness is a state of pleasure that
is lacking any elements of pain, Mill introduces the concept of Higher and Lower Pleasures in order to
differentiate between stimulating intellectual sentiments and mere physical sensations. (Mill, 6) To
this end, one would assume that as a hedonist, {one that perceives a good or successful life to consist
of the pursuit and experience of pleasure} Mill s position on both Rescue I and II would be that that
saves the most people, regardless of the circumstances. However, the situations proposed contrast each
other in that they lead back to Foot s initial concern about the difference between killing and letting
die. Rescue I allows for a somewhat lowered sense of obligation {responsibility if you will}, as it
requires the hypothetical rescuers to go off their initial path to save the group of five individuals at
risk of drowning to save only one person from another unfortunate

  • 3. The Great Famine Introduction The Great Famine occurred in Ireland between 1845 and 1850 (Gray 2004). The famine was caused by infectious diseases to potato crops and to humans, but also by structural issues in Ireland at the time of the occurrence (Gray 2004). The demography of Ireland changed drastically during the span of less than a decade. Prior to the famine, the Irish population was at 8.4 million in 1844 but as a result of the famine, a decline of 2.2 million people left Ireland with only a population of 6.6 million people in 1951 (Mokyr 2016). Research from the 1980s indicates the famine and accompanying diseases killed approximately 1.1 million people and the other half became emigrants (Gray 2004). The Irish were incredibly vulnerable to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1846, Canada received 32,750 people. The following year, over 110,000 Irish people left from either their country or from Britain to reach Canada, causing a peak in immigration rates referred to as Black 47 (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Canada reacted to the peak by implementing more costly head taxes on immigrants and harsher rules of navigation laws, such as the Passengers to North America Act of 1848. The new laws caused a drastic drop of Irish immigrants, with the figure of 31,065 Irish emigrants in the same year (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Although people of Canada were sympathetic to the Irish situation, the surge of Irish immigrants posed an imbalance in Canadian population that would have affected the infrastructure at the time. Thus, the government posed laws as a method of regulation to maintain their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Figure ‎ 2.6 Numerical experiment N.B with fire at atrium at 250 Sec [9] Figure ‎ 2.7 Physical model P.M with fire at atrium at 250 Sec. Atrium with height more than 30 m with exhaust fans located towards the ends may require attention to control the smoke abstraction efficiently. Yi, Hou, Li and Feng Chow [13] study the relation between the atrium aspect ratio under different heat release rate of fire the flooding time flow of smoke occurs and, 32 simulations were performed using a model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). Table 2.4 shows the size of the atrium and HRR of steady fire. Figure 2.8 listed the early stage situation of the fire in a floor near to an atrium. The fire floor has 2 vertical vents named WA and WB and there are open to both the atrium and outside. The atrium ceiling is open, and it is assumed that there is an ideal isolation between the atrium and the adjacent floors. • 5. Shade Of Magic A Darker Shade of Magic , written by V.E. Schwab, tells the story of a Kell, an antari someone who is able to cast magic using blood. In Kell s world, there are multiple Londons grey, red, white, and black. Kell uses his magic to travel between these worlds, which have relatively the same structure but are wildly different, especially in the amount of magic and the way it is handled. One day, when Kell is out and about doing work for the royal family of Red London (the London he belongs to), he falls into possession of a powerful and dangerous talisman from the elusive Black London. After returning to Red London, unwittingly in possession of such a dangerous thing, Kell meets a pirate girl named Lila, who steals the talisman from him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It doesn t receive a higher score for two main reasons: the pacing and characters. The plot of this book is quite simple, and can be summarized while using only a short number of sentences. Scenes in the book move slowly, though it never seems to drag on. The writing style makes up for the lack in pace, which covers it up nicely. Also, I didn t enjoy the characters as much as I could, though it didn t necessarily make me not like the book. My main problem character wise was with Lila, a no nonsense, tough girl that prefers to dress androgynously. She is a paragon of stereotypes pickpocket, strong willed and boyish. The way she acts is quite predictable, and I knew the moment she was introduced that she would be kissing Kell by halfway through the book. I was proved correct, much to my dismay. Also, the main antagonists, Astrid and Athos Dane, were only characterised by cruelty and villainy. They are powerful with their magic and use it to do terrible things, but with no motive other than magic equals power . It s understandable, but could be fleshed out a bit more. One thing I did enjoy about them was the problem that they posed. It s a very realistic one for Kell to face considering the setting, and proved However, when casting all this aside, A Darker Shade of Magic really is actually quite enjoyable of a read. Empowerment Through Online Education In a 2007 report published by the Sloan Consortium, most universities stated that the main reasons they continued to expand their online education programs were because such programs improved student access to education. For example, when universities offer courses online, they can work around limited classroom space, instructor shortages, and conflicting course schedules to offer more students more classes. Similarly, in taking an online course that allows them to complete assignments at their own pace, students can work around their busy course and work schedules, as well as tailor their coursework to their own personal learning styles. • 9. The Interpretation Of Oppression By Marilyn Frye Nikky Xiong Feminist Philosophy Nancy Bauer Oct 12th, 2015 The Interpretation of Oppression Women and men are born equal. However, females are receiving unequal judgement and unfair treatment in the society, and thus Marilyn Frye brings up the notion of oppression , claiming that women are oppressed. Throughout the essay, I will first give the definition of Frye s oppression and then list 5 critical qualifications to be considered oppressed. After that, I will explain my appreciation on Frye s perspective on elaborating oppression using the bird cage analogy. I will support Frye s double bind argument for sexism followed by flaws in the argument. Furthermore, I will point out some social group are mistakenly placed inside or outside the parameters of oppression, once the theory of oppression extends over other marginal groups. Given the definition of oppression as a system of interrelated barriers and forces which mold , immobilize , and reduce a certain group of people, and affect their subordination to another group (Frye 4), Frye lists out five premises in order to be considered oppressed. First of all, the group of people must be restricted. In other words, there must be limitations or barriers on them. For example, women make 78 cents for every dollar earned by men (Kessler 1). Second, those restrictions surely cause harm, which must outweigh any potential benefits oppressed groups experience as a result of those same restrictions (Gillingham 1). For ... They have ranged from inconsequential issues such as Border Railway Crossing and Time Tables to highly disputatious ones like National Security interests including Nuclear Confidence building measures and to the highly infamous Kashmir issue. Before discussing the negotiations which occurred over the Kashmir issue, we need to know the origin of the Kashmir problem! A Walk into the History After the departure of the British Empire from the Indian Subcontinent, it led to the formation of two different countries India and Pakistan along religious lines (Hinduism and Islam). (Kux, 87) These two new dominions had around 650 states run by princes. Theoretically these states had the option of choosing either of the countries or remain independent. By remaining independent they would have let monarchy leap over democracy. These independent states were advised by the British Government to get associated with either of the two dominions keeping in view the geographical and other relevant considerations, for the sole purpose of securing their defence, foreign relations and other specified matters. One of these newly independent states was Kashmir, which according to its geographical positioning had the option of choosing either of the two dominions but there lied a problem which was, the ruler of Kashmir was a Hindu believer but the majority of the population in Kashmir was Muslim. Instead of correcting his mistakes, Willy continuously expresses his belief of Biff s predetermined success as a result of being attractive and well liked. As a result, Biff has allowed how Willy views him become how he perceives himself. This self deception has not only affected the actions in his childhood but as well as his decisions when finding his role in the workplace. As stated above, Willy s consistent beliefs of his son s predestined success results to Biff s immense confidence in himself. However, this confidence have provided him a false perception of himself as he struggle to keep a stable job and even faces imprisonment. • 16. Management Styles Of Leadership Styles Literature Review Outline I. Introduction a. A key determinant in an organizational success is directly related with the management styles of leadership. According to Parris Peachey (2013), the key to understanding an organizations success is to study its leaders. A leader s ability to inspire, motive, and create a strong sense of engagement and commitment to the organization will determine the success or failure in the attainment of goals. Transformational, charismatic, and servant leadership are three styles that organizational leaders might possess. While there is no predetermined best style of leadership, one can describe leadership and management as situational. The overriding goal of any organization is building a high performing organization which is paramount for short and long term success (DeGraw Sizoo, 2013). Both the leader and the organization should select the most appropriate style to enhance organizations probability for effectiveness and attainment of desire goals. Studies have shown when organizations have the right leadership in place, an organization can have shared vision that is articulated in a manner where subordinates desire work enthusiastically towards the accomplishment of the goals (Parris Peachey, 2013). b. • 17. Analysis Of The Book Of Cannibals History: Whose Story Is It? Interactions between people are often evaluated in terms of lands gained, lives lost, and valor earned, but there is an arguably more powerful spoil of war that is rarely discussed: the right to write the story. The victorious party gets to tell the tale, and indubitably the defeated are portrayed extremely negatively if at all. Consider the many extant ancient Spanish texts compared to the lack of decipherable Mayan texts: as part of their victory over the Mayans, the Spanish burned the Yucatan almanacs. Cultural genocide of this sort is not rare by any means; imperialism leaves a trail of extinct and dying cultures in its wake. The cannibalistic metaphor in Montaigne s Of Cannibals as well as the essay itself illustrate how history is shaped by dominant narratives, made even more evident in King s discussion of attitudes towards Native Americans in The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America. Montaigne s description of natives consuming the defeated is analogous to European culture displacing native culture. Just as the prisoner of war sang that part of him is his captor s own fathers and grandfathers that he has previously consumed, the European domination of native culture became another chapter in European history. The flesh the prisoner consumed, however, did not retain its original shape. Instead, it was broken down and absorbed into his being. Similarly, the European subsummation of Native American ... • 20. Fahrenheit 451 Critical Analysis In school, people crave acceptance. Putting themselves at a lower expectation to meet the needs of another. Every year, students try to pick classes that could put them in the same classes as their friends. Last year, when signing up for classes, I was hoping to get into similar classes with my friends. After telling them about some of the classes I was interested in, my ideas were immediately shut down. My friends, and even my parents told me that, the ideas I interpreted as informational, were insufficient and would get me nowhere in life. They told me I should pick something to help advance my career in the future. If my parents told me to choose something else, who was I to disagree? I felt like I was stuck in a box, leading to get out, but nobody was around to hear me. So I ended up switching my classes, and moving down some levels to be with friends. My conformity caused me to lower my own standards and lowers the expectations of those around me. Though i faced consequences by conforming, there are several examples that examine the same concepts of conformity at a more extreme level in Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451. Excessive censorship from a higher authority most likely leads to conformity from subordinates. Excessive censorship from a higher authority most likely leads to fear. There are many ways in which this poem could be read. A white could have read it as either a submissive praise of Christianity or a belief that a slave believed in equality. An African American could have read it with similar perspectives. The whites would have found the submissive reading to be more favorable, and the African Americans would have favored the reading of equality. However, it was doubtful that many, if any blacks, were permitted to read any of Wheatley s work. Wheatley tended to write many religiously based poems. They all consisted of her true opinions. They ranged from speaking about dead reverends that she respected to her opinions about the lives of Atheist and Deist. Atheism called out the downfalls that Wheatley believed to be corrupting the lives of those that did not believe in God. She accused Atheists of being self centered and selfish, and she wrote, [t]hy heart in unbelief will harder grow...Thy unbelief disturbs the peaceful mind (Wheatley 130). Since Wheatley had found her freedom in her Christianity, she felt as though Christianity was the sole road to happiness during and after life. Wheatley knew what she believed in, and she was not afraid to let the world know. The Deists were not safe from Wheatley s criticism either. The transformation from rural to urban brings the human beings convenience and wealth. However, in the past decade, many cities have met not only benefits but also challenges. Environmental problems continue to grow in those high density areas. To investigate these problems and their influences, two cities, from a developed country and a developing country each, New York City (the U.S.A) and Shanghai (China) are chosen to compare. Both cities are economic centers in their own countries. New York City started its urbanization in the 19th century while Shanghai started in around 1980s. The process NYC has experienced, especially environmental problems, is a good example for Shanghai government to learn from when it continues its urbanization step in the future. Three problems are investigated: air pollution, water quality and soil contamination. These ones are significant in our lives as they can affect our organs and thus influences our health directly. Owen has made the poems form confusing and chaotic as that is how he sees war to be. WB Yeats has made the tone of his poem cold and lacking in emotion. This is shown from the very beginning, including in the title. The title of the poem is An Irish Airman Foresees his Death and because it is a person anticipating their death, it is a very serious matter. However Yeats has made this line just a statement showing us that the poem is very unemotional. Yeats has composed the rest of the poem using only statements also, showing no heightening of emotion. He has made the poems tone this way as this is how he wants to present Major Robert Gregory as being. Yeats forces him to speak in such a way that he is shown to be pessimistic about life and an uninspiring person. He makes this clear when Gregory says, Those I fight I do not hate, Those that I guard I do not love; Here the emotional impact is minimised because even though the words hate and love are quite strong, they are contrasted against each other and also used with I do not so it is balanced out ... Assuming that true happiness is a state of pleasure that is lacking any elements of pain, Mill introduces the concept of Higher and Lower Pleasures in order to differentiate between stimulating intellectual sentiments and mere physical sensations.
