The Management Involved With Everest Simulation Created By...
1.0 Introduction Mount Everest, as the highest mountain in the world, is famous for the enormous
challenge of reaching its summit. This analytic essay is an analysis of the management involved with
the Everest Simulation created by Harvard Business School. During this 3hour simulation I was the
team doctor and achieved all ten of the possible ten points available, therefore 100% of goals were
achieved. This score is related to the goals I accomplish as an individual and as a team. I enjoyed the
simulation and expanded upon my knowledge as it taught a profound understanding of team
dynamics, the capability to accept change, a stronger ability to analyse available information and
create effective communication. Our team as a whole obtained 94% of our goals. 2.0 Leadership 2.1
Issue Our team s major goal when completing this simulation was to ensure we scored as many points
as possible not only individually but collectively. The enticement to get every member to the summit
was alluring; however as a team we decided it was better to stop and contemplate each stage in order
to maximise points. As the simulation was a highly structured task this made the concept of an
individual leading and managing the team ultimately redundant. Each group member contributed
towards being team leader as the group worked cooperatively and cohesively throughout. This issue
corresponds to the theory of leadership and in particular substitutes for leadership. A team working as

Castles In Medieval Times Research Paper
If you are going to build something in the air it is always better to build castles than houses of cards.
(Lichtenberg). Castles are meant to hold up in defensive times to protect the people and country. Why
should we strive, with cynic frown, to knock their fairy castles down? (Cook). At first, castles were
built for military and government means. As centuries went on, hostilities subsided, and wealth started
to flow during Renaissance, nobility and royalty started to create vanity castles that were used to be
summer houses, hunting houses and royal houses. Castles are used mostly for defense, they protect the
nobility from danger, and they were used as a fortress to protect the country. The castles were large

Europe from about the 1100 s to about the 1500 s. These huge buildings served not only to defend the

Rosh Hashanah Research Paper
Being both Jewish and American, we have take part in celebrating two New years one in January and
the other generally in September. Despite the fact that the both holidays ring in the new year and we
get a break from school, Rosh Hashanah holds a different and deeper meaning.
On the surface both holidays seem to be the same: there are resolutions, there are celebrations taking
place, and we bustle around to prepare for coming holidays. However, when you take a closer look
you can see that these are only shallow similarities. Both on New Years and on Rosh Hashana we
make resolutions, promising to begin to better ourselves. However on New Years our resolutions are
for us. We make promises to ourselves. When we make resolutions they not only involve but a second
party as well. They also involve hashem. We promise to try and keep his mitzvot better. The promises
we make on rosh hashanah are not only for us but also for Hashem. On New Years the promises we
make are for us. Finally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
for rosh Hashanah we either spend hours in the kitchen cooking up a storm or we make a run to the
supermarket for some more apples and honey or brainstorming a new fruit. Or perhaps we are sending
a text or making a phone call to any and everyone we know, asking for their forgiveness. We are
pushing ourselves to be ready, making ourselves the best we can, giving Hashem reasons to inscribe
our name in the Book of Life. This is something you can find every Jew doing on the eve of Rosh
Hashanah. However, when it comes to dealing with the secular New Year, things are quite different.
Firstly, the hustle and bustle of getting ready for a party is not required, some people opt to stay at
home and watch the ball drop on their TV. Secondly, there is no asking friends and family and teachers
and classmates to forgiveness. We do not worry about Hashem judging us, and there is no anxiety

A New Alliance For A Future North American Union
The three relatively unpopular governments presently enthroned in Washington, Ottawa and Mexico
City, joined in very large companies, most of them American, to establish the foundation for a future
North American Union. This is a new alliance of permanent type within which the Americans have a
de facto predominant influence. It would force Canada and Mexico to harmonize many laws and
regulations in the interests of the world of Big Business and those of US administrations primarily
concerned with their imperial ambitions and undemocratic worldwide. It is obvious that such a
continental thrust integration plan, both economically and politically, is substantially different from
the original idea of fair and free trade in goods and services, through the abolition tariff and non tariff
barriers between the countries of the hemisphere. This idea first took shape with the free trade
agreement of 1988 between Canada and the United States. Subsequently, in 1994, Canada had to
accept that Mexico is joining the North American Free Trade Agreement, also forcing him to make
substantial concessions on the application of the Investment Canada Act, which governs foreign
takeovers of Canadian companies, in addition to ensuring the US privileged access to Canadian energy
resources. All this should have been enough to open the US market to Canadian companies. It seems,
however, that this is not the case. Large corporations and the US government want to use the pretext
of fighting terrorism

Martin Luther, John Calvin And The Protestant Reformation
One theme present during the reformation, was smaller churches breaking off from the larger church,
and establishing their own forms of christianity. Many people were unhappy with the way the church
was running and sought to reform these flaws by making their own forms of the church. People such
as Martin Luther and John Calvin, were unhappy with how the church was being run created their own
religions. Martin Luther created Lutheranism, which did not believe in the selling of indulgences and
believed that salvation was granted by faith alone. Both of these ideas went against the Church at the
time and his ideas were highly disputed. John calvin had created Calvinism, which believed in
predestination, which meant that God had already decided who was saved, and who was damned. The
idea of predestination also went against the church s idea that faith and good works lead to salvation.
2. Immorality, ignorance, and pluralism all gave the church a bad name, but immorality hurt the
church the most. Immorality in the church consisted of gambling, drinking, and promiscuity which
cast a bad light on the church as the clergy were supposed to be men of god and were not to engage in
such devious acts. The clergy was also highly ignorant with many preaches not knowing latin, the ...

Annotated Bibliography On Color Barcode
II. LTERATURE REVIEW
1)Homayoun Bagherinia, Roberto Manduchi, had proposed the for University of California, Santa
Cruz A novel approach for color barcode decoding using smartphones
The use of colors increases the information storage capacities in barcodes. Increasing the number of
color stolen code information makes the decoding a challenging task due to the dependency of the
surface color on the illuminant spectrum, viewing parameters, printing device and material. The
decoding becomes more challenging if a mobile phone as a decoding device is used due to the capture
of image from different distances as well as angles. We present an iterative decoding algorithm that

Barcode Modulation Method for Data Transmission in Mobile Devices In this study, a new approach
for data modulation in 2 D barcodes is introduced, and its performance is evaluated in comparison to
other standard method of barcode modulation. In this new approach, orthogonal frequency division
multiplexing (OFDM) modulation is used together with differential phase shift keying (DPSK) over
adjacent frequency domain elements. A specific aim of this study is to establish a system that is
proven tolerant to camera movements, picture blur, and light leakage within neighboring pixels of an
LCD.
III. THE PROPOSED PICODE SYSTEM In this section, the proposed PiCode system is described
with an emphasis on the novel aspects of the image modulation and demodulation process. For the
modulation part the details of the modulation scheme will be presented to illustrate how PiCode
preserves the perceptual quality of the embedded image while minimizing the interference of the latter
incurred on the modulation waveform. For the modulation part, the algorithms for performing discrete

No Child Left Behind Act Pros And Cons
The No Child Left Behind Act is a revision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
of 1965, which provided federal aid to schools with large populations of low income students (Hudson
7). The original purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act was to close the achievement gap between
students and ensure all teachers and principals are highly qualified. The difference between ESEA and
the No Child Left Behind Act is the ESEA abstained from tying funding to achievement. The No
Child Left Behind Act has negatively affected the education of children in America by cutting the pay
of schools unable to meet proficiency standards, substituting standards and tests for quality education,
setting schools up for failure, and failing to recognize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, the No Child Left Behind Act was meant to help poverty stricken children the most, but
despite the ideology that schools should be held accountable for unequal academic progress, children
who attend inner city schools with the highest poverty rates must still overcome the second rate
education they receive in overcrowded classrooms in school facilities that are badly in need of repair
(Hollingworth). The No child Left Behind Act fails to take into consideration the real world
application of socioeconomic differences in the United States. Students located in high poverty areas
are still responsible for attaining the same level of proficiency the NCLB requires despite the
differences the children experience. Even though there are students that have a cognitive disability,
speak entry level English, or have speech delays, everyone takes the same test and the results are
posted, (Hobart) which has the potential to lower the school s overall scores. The No Child Left
Behind Act requires all students, no matter the differences, to take the same test and achieve the same
results. All students are not the same and differ in their ability to perform equally as others on the
same test. Students with mental disabilities or students in which English is not their first language are
expected to achieve the same scores as general education

The Causes Of Lysosomal Diseases
More dysregulated metabolites were identified in the liver (n=177) than that in the brain (n=122).
Notably, there are more amino acid, amino acid derivatives and dipeptides identified in livers (mostly
upregulated). These results are expected because the liver is the primary site of metabolism. In terms
of pathways enriched, significant involvement of neurotransmission and chemical synaptic
transmission were observed in the brain. Meanwhile, there are several pathways only enriched in
livers, including gamma glutamyl cycle, leukotriene biosynthesis, Phase II conjugation and
glutathione synthesis, which are mainly associated with oxidative stress and inflammation. The energy

The oxidative stress can cause cell damage, resulting in inflammation, which has also been found to
be a major contributor to disease progression of GM2 gangliosidosis [17]. In this study, we identified
elevation in glutathione pathways, which plays a pivotal role in responses to oxidative stress. Another
evidence of inflammation is reduced levels of arachidonic acid, an omega 6 fatty acid, in brain
samples of SD mice. Oxidation of arachidonic acid can generate leukotrienes, a family of eicosanoid
inflammatory mediators produced in leukocytes, and thus promote inflammation. The increased
energy requirements can also activate autophagy and protein catabolism, which have been found in
MPS I and MPS VII mice [13]. In this study, we found increased levels of amino acids, amino acid
derivatives and dipeptides, indicating increased protein catabolism. Increased requirements of energy
and raw materials can also activate lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism, manifested by
decreased adiposity, a common observation in many lysosomal diseases [18 20]. In addition, the
enlarged lysosome and distended cells due to abnormal accumulation requires increased membrane
synthesis, which can also affect lipid metabolism. Our previous proteomic analysis [21] also identified
abnormality in the cytoskeleton system, which can be partially attributed to altered cellular
architecture due to storage accumulation. Collectively, we show here that the energy imbalance caused
by the lack of

These cultural differences could vary from different types of healthcare provided by their government,

of America and I have noticed a lot of cultural differences that the US has the is a lot different to other
countries around the world. I have noticed these cultural differences by exposing myself to the public.

Sequel To H. G. Wells The Time Machine
The premise of a sequel to H.G. Wells The Time Machine could have been treated in a number of
ways. Some analysts have commended Wells for his literal minded approach which they find to be his
pastiche. To some however, the opposite (the Hollywood approach) is facetious and throws out
everything related to Wells, retaining the association only for marketing purposes. A Scientific
Romance has a different and unique approach altogether. For instance, Ronald Wright s style and

King Alfred Research Paper
King Alfred of Wessex was probably the best known of all Anglo Saxon rulers . And Alfred s
reputation still stands high with historians, though few would now want to follow following, claiming
him as the most perfect character in history.
Alfred is someone who has had greatness thrust upon him. How and why did he acquire his glowing
reputation, and how does it stand up today? There can be no doubt that Alfred s reign was significant,
both for the direction of the country s development and the fortunes of his descendants. Alfred was the
only surviving Anglo Saxon province. Alfred nearly succumbed to the Vikings, but kept his nerve and
won a decisive victory at the battle of Edington in 879. He then paved the way for the future unity of
England, who conquered the remaining areas held by the Vikings in the east and north, so that by the
mid tenth century, the England we are familiar with, was ruled as one country for the first time. Alfred
studied, and even translated from Latin into Old English, certain works that were regarded as most
necessary for all men to know . Alfred also tried to put these principles into practice, for instance, he

Johnathan Edwards Eucharist
The article Johnathan Edwards and the Closing of the Table is based upon Edwards view of the
practice of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Crisp argues within hist article that Johnathan Edwards
beliefs should be studied and offer a challenge to contemporary theologians to think about these
matters more organically (Crisp, 49). Crisp gives an analysis of Johnathan Edwards beliefs on
communion, the process, and the requirements to obtain communion. He states that Edwards believed
that there had to be a confession of faith included with the communion service, and that only when
they gave an outward piece of evidence that they were converted from their sins that they should and
could obtain communion (Crisp, 55).
He explains the Johnathan Edwards view of the sacrament was in fact based on his personal
experiences and shifted through time. He argues with Edwards that the person who does not believe in
God should not be allowed to attend the Lord s Supper (Crisp, 63). Yet, Edward s also believed that a
person should live a pious life pleasing to God (Crisp, 57).
Crisp tends to agree with Edwards and ends his essay urging the reader to reconsider their views on

Mirror Neurology
On one hand, the genetic theory provides a greater reasoning for a link between origin and social
function of mirror neuron, while on the other hand, the associative learning account does not
necessitate this evolutionary presumption. Natural selection is an integral factor in the evolutionary
theory, but it maintains a supplementary role in the associative learning theory in which the individual
environment and sensory input throughout a lifespan is indispensable in understanding of the
development of mirror neurons (Cook et al., 2014).
There is evidence from Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation studies that suggests a plastic human mirror
neuron system (Mehta et al., 2015). However more research in this area must be done to confirm
noteworthy and symptomatically noticeable plasticity of the mirror neuron system. Nevertheless, if the
associative learning theory of mirror neuron origin is correct, then there may be great implications for
treatment and therapies for individuals who have disorders or diseases associated with stunted mirror

Abstract
Part of being a good, quality educator is to learn the learning styles of the students and adapt to those
forms of learning. Adult learning is growing, more and more are going to college at later stages in life.

To learn is obviously a mental process, but how a person learns needs to be determined. Some people
have a more hands on approach to learning, while others are visual learners. An example would be
someone who had dyslexia and sees things backwards; they need different instructions to take in the
information. Also, people act differently. An example would be myself, I have ADHD. I do not like to
sit for long periods of time because I just can t keep my concentration. Keeping the attention of such
an age span could pose problems. Keeping lectures short, mixing things up, taking a break could all be
ways to make sure everyone s able to pay attention and get the most out of the teachings.
Sociocultural
The world that we live in shapes the people we are, how we do things, and how we live. Cultures
dictate a lot of learning, as does family status. People that have families live busy lives. A traditional
family today now has two working parents, along with kids. If they are taking classes in addition to
their hectic schedule they don t have time to waste, are focused and determined. Whereas, a twenty
year old with no wife and no children is more likely the one to put less effort into the homework, more
likely to miss class, and more likely to do the minimal amount of work to get by. Teaching methods
must encourage all ages, cultures, and races.

Inflation is one of the most frequently used terms in economic discussions, yet the concept is variously
misconstrued. There are various schools of thought on inflation, but there is a consensus among
economists that inflation is a continuous rise in the prices. Simply put, inflation depicts an economist
situation where there is a general rise in prices of goods and services, continuously. It could be defined
as a continue rise in prices as measured by an index such as the consumer price index (CPI) or by the
implicit price deflator for Gross National Product (GNP). Inflation is frequently described as a state
where too much money is chasing too few goods . When there is inflation, the currency losses
purchasing power. The purchasing power of a given amount of naira (currency) will be smaller over

Factors to Determine the Validity of Information Sources...
Individuals such as university or high school students are, at one point or another in their studies,
faced with the task of having to write a technical report that involves a research (specifically focused
on existing material). There is an abundance of information available in the world today, which covers
a vast amount of fields and all this information is readily available to the public but it is often unclear
to these students that all the information available may not always be credible and actually reliable or
even true. The negligence of these students often results in non factual research papers that are poorly
written up. The failure to check for reliable sources may lead to inadvertent plagiarism too. This report
focuses on what makes sources of information more reliable and credible than others, with a specific
focus on research reports.
Readers seek sources of information that is trustworthy. That the creator, author or researcher s ideas
are their own is substantiated mainly by evidence. When given the task to have a research report
written up, it usually entails doing research and finding information created by others, this being the
case, it is imperative that credible information should be used. Remember that if your audience has
found the source you have cited from as a non credible source it could result in the relationship
between you and your audience to suffer. There are various factors that determine the validity of a
credible source of information,

Lesser Animals In Animal Farm
Everyone has a point in his life where they find something to be absolutely ridiculous, whether it is the
opposal to gay marriage or the new hoverboard that everyone seems to have nowadays. Some people
choose to keep these thoughts to themselves and some choose to demonstrate their feelings like
George Orwell did with his satirical novel Animal Farm. With the largely avoidable hardships of the
animals representing the Soviet Union s working class, the naivete of these animals, and how the
events throughout the novel parallel the history of the Soviet Union, Orwell demonstrates through the
lesser animals in Animal Farm that he agrees that it is the responsibility of the public to know what the
government is doing at all times and that it is absurd to just blindly follow. Through the hardships of
the animals that could have easily been avoided if the government was more carefully managed,
Orwell illustrates this agreement that it is the responsibility of the public to know what the
government is doing at all times. Orwell demonstrates his feelings on the preposterity of the ignorant

Spring reflects a deep communion with the natural world, offering a fresh viewpoint of the
commonplace or ordinary things in our world by subverting our expected and accepted views of that
object which in turn presents a view that operates from new assumptions. Oliver depicts the natural
world as a celebration of wonder and awe, the almost insignificant wonders capturing the true beauty
nature beholds.
Spring is a poem that visibly illustrates this, representing the natural world to be full of wonder
through imagery and metaphors without actually stating what the wonders are. The poem Spring

provoke a feeling of unity and tranquillity with nature. This is exactly what Oliver is attempting to
portray through her poems, Wild Geese especially, by reminding us that we as a human race are so
preoccupied with the melodramatics of life that we fail to see the beauty and wonders surrounding us,
and that we should sit back and follow the natural and simple path the non human world follows.
The title itself almost says the poem, providing implicit imagery and evoking a sense of freedom and
wilderness. The geese are free and natural, unlike humans who are constrained by the values and
attitudes inhibited on us by society in which we conform to and accept, hindering our ability to be
truly free and released like the natural world is.

the hip girdle) composed to two coxal (hip) bones.
Muscular System
Over 600 skeletal muscles function for body movement through contraction and relaxation of
voluntary, striated muscle fibers. These muscles are attached to bones, and are typically under
conscious control for locomotion, facial expressions, posture, and other body movements. Muscles
account for approximately 40 percent of body weight. The metabolism that occurs in this large mass
produces heat essential for the maintenance of body temperature
Types of Muscles
The types of muscles are: * Cardiac muscle * Smooth muscle * Skeletal muscle
Cardiac Muscle * Cardiac muscle is only in the heart and makes up the atria and ventricles (heart
walls). Like skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle contains striated fibers. Cardiac muscle is called
involuntary muscle because conscious thought does not control its contractions. Specialized cardiac
muscle cells maintain a consistent heart rate.
Smooth muscle * Smooth muscle is throughout the body, including in visceral (internal) organs, blood
vessels, and glands. Like cardiac muscle,

Abby Lee Miller Dance Analysis
In the very first episode of the show Abby Lee Miller, who is the dance coach and choreographer of
the team, tells the girls that they are going to perform a new dance in every competition that they enter
( The Competition Begins ). This means that they will only have one week to learn an entire dance
routine. With only one week to learn a dance the time that the girls on the team, and their mothers,
spend in the dance studio is significant. Since the moms are spending so much time in the studio, they
are one of the focal points of the show. The mothers of these girls often argue about how certain girls
get more attention than others. They also discuss how Miller spends more time and gives better
choreography to certain girls and to make sure that they will place the highest at competitions. The
dancer that Abby spends the most time with is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although HUAC was eventually dissolved, the government continued to monitor outspoken leftist
musicians and actors well into the 1970s, especially during the revolutionary activities of the Vietnam
War Era. Dissenters who opposed the Vietnam War, like John Lennon of the Beatles, often faced
government scrutiny, surveillance, and action; the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), for
example tried to deport Lennon in March of 1972 (Goldman 439). After legislation in the 1970s and
1980s like the Freedom of Information Act of 1974, which restricted the government s ability to keep
such surveillance secret, many Americans began to feel secure, thinking that people critical of the
United States government no longer faced retaliation for exercising their freedom of speech. They
were wrong. In this latest chapter of American history, as American troops continue to occupy Iraq,
conservatives redouble their efforts to silent dissenters. The policing of leftist war opposition like of
the Dixie Chicks has shifted from direct government action to new, subtler techniques. Conservatives
inside and outside of government are now using the power of markets and the power of corporations
to realize their political ends and silence dissent.

Mitral Valve Prolapse
Mitral Valve Prolapse
Michele Tolliver
Body Systems, LRC Class #1
October 7, 2014
The flow of blood through the heart is controlled by four valves. If any are not working correctly,
blood cannot flow or be pumped effectively to the heart. The four valves are: the tricuspid, pulmonary
semilunar, mitral, and aortic semilunar. There are many abnormalities or defects that can affect their
operation and in this paper, I will discuss the most common one which is a mitral valve prolapse. A
valvular prolapse is an abnormal protrusion of a heart valve that causes the valve to not close
completely. It is also known as click murmur syndrome and Barlow s syndrome and is more prevalent
in women than men. It has a strong hereditary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best treatments may vary but may include: * Exercise * Pain relievers * Daily low dose of aspirin
* Relaxation and stress reduction techniques * Avoidance of caffeine and other stimulants
The use of beta blockers to slow the heart rate may benefit patients who have episodes of tachycardia,
or rapid heartbeats, with the mitral valve prolapse. Unless it has progressed to something severe, the
patientwill probably not need treatment. If it has become severe, then the patient can benefit from
surgery to repair or replace the leaky valve. Although it sounds scary, it is a condition that can be
managed quite easily and the patient can live a normal lifestyle without any impairment or major
adjustment to your activities.

Chin The Largest Economy
At present, China is the largest economy in the world, overtaking the US in January 2015. It is also the
world s second largest oil consumer behind the US (Chen 2015) and the world s largest net importer of
crude oil (Dunn 2014). Its net importer status was driven by steady economic growth, with rapidly
rising Chinese petroleum demand outpacing production growth (EIA 2014). China is also the fourth
largest oil producing country in the world (Refer to Appendix ___).
The growth in the developing nation s economy over the past 3 decades was heavily dependent on its
low cost advantage compared to those of other countries. During this period of growth, foreign
companies flocked to China to set up production facilities and factories to capitalize on this cost
advantage. Raw materials are shipped to China, where factory workers build the final products and
export them out to various countries (Wassener 2014).
However, recently, china s economy has experienced a significant slowdown due to the shift in growth
of the nation to rely more on private enterprise and domestic consumption. This shift in economy
reduces its demand for industrial raw materials for manufacturing, which translates to a decrease in
demand of oil for use in production plants. A survey of China s industrial heartland identified
decreases in key areas of new orders, export orders and output prices (Letts 2015). Furthermore, being
the world s second largest consumer of oil, this move that China makes will have

Analysis Of The Book I m Going At The Beach

Amy loves to read historical fiction novels. She has collected many of these novels over the years.
One day she hopes to write her own fiction novels. For now, she enjoys writing short fiction as a way
to practice her writing skills.
When Amy writes her fictional short stories she makes sure to include a good plot structure and
exciting characters.
The most fun part for Amy is figuring out what type of conflict she will create for her characters.
She also enjoys demonstrating through her writing how unique her characters are. She does this by
allowing them to speak in dialects specific to their birth place.
For example, in one of her stories, the main character is from New Jersey. So, each time the character
refers to the beach, she says down the shore.
Saying I m going down the shore , instead I m going to the beach, is common among those born in
New Jersey.
Even though her characters do not speak formal English, Amy writes all of her short fiction in formal
academic English.

Ben picked up one of Amy s short stories about residents working together in order to establish a
small town in Florida.
Because these residents were originally from the Caribbean islands, their dialect varied away from

When quoting from these characters, Amy represents their dialect accurately. As a result, her final
work of fiction is a mixture of formal and informal

Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay
Abstract
In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and the
company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was caused
when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars. This device
reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This resulted in
cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagen as an environmentally friendly car when it was not
actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The company initially had an
increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large sum of money as mentioned
above to settle a lawsuit.

Volkswagen Business Ethics
On September 18, 2015 Volkswagen hit the news with a scandal relating to unethical practices
involved in the production of its diesel cars (McHugh, 2015, October 12, para. 3). Volkswagen used a
device to pass the emissions test when the emissions on these cars were higher than the allowed levels;
thereby the company cheated the system.
Emissions Device The company declared that it had a cheat device installed on its 11 million diesel
operated cars. What the device did was that it lowered the engines emissions when it was going
through an emissions test. The car easily passed the emissions test and later the device returned
emission levels back to normal,

Causes Of The Los Angeles Riots
The twentieth century brought with it many conflicts, such as both World Wars, the Great Depression,
and civil unrest, the latter of which its effects can still be seen today. The Civil Rights Movement of
the sixties, paved the way for more demonstrations during the last quarter of the twentieth century.
One of the greatest of these demonstrations was the Los Angeles Riots (commonly known as the
Rodney King Riots) of nineteen ninety two. The Civil Rights Movement had a goal, which was to end
segregation and discrimination of African Americans, and to try to improve the wellbeing by
integrating both communities. This movement had led to many others, both peaceful and violent.
However, the goal between them all was the same. There has been many conflicts in the past between
African Americans and the Anglo community, where most were caused due to the discrimination or
taking out the anger they had after seeing themselves being treated a certain way.
Before the riots, racial tensions had already risen. There was lots of gang related activity and crime in
the poor communities of Los Angeles, where many were unemployed. These communities were
common to drug sweeps, where more than eighty officers tore apart a pair of apartment buildings,
leaving dozens homeless (History.com).
On the night of March third, nineteen ninety one, King had high levels of alcohol in his blood, due to
drinking. He had been involved in a pursuit by the police department of Los Angeles. As King

Autism And Autism Spectrum Disorder
To be honest, the first time I read Fifty Shades of Grey, it was for the illicit sex. The second time was
to process what I read. The third, fourth and fifth times was to delve deeper into Mr. Grey s
neurological and psychological impulses. Something about his mannerisms, and the way he interacted
with others, spoke to me on a profound level. I know autism when I see it. For those not familiar with
autism, Autism Speaks, the world s leading autism science and advocacy organization, defines autism
and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain
development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees (hence, a Spectrum that includes
both low and high functioning individuals), by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal
communication and repetitive behaviors. If he could read body language, he wouldn t need the
dreaded safe word would he? Appalled at my audacity to label everyone s favorite Dom with autism?
Let me assure you that autism isn t a dirty or shameful thing in my household. Nor should it be in
anyone s household. Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook and the like wouldn t be the standard
bearers they are today without having employees with autism and ASD. It s no surprise that the autism
and ASD populations in tech hubs like Silicon Valley, California and Redmond, Washington have
incredibly high autism populations. But, let s get back to Mr. Grey and my autism theory.

The Pros And Cons Of The Pickens Plan
T. Boone Pickens created the Pickens Plan with the intention of reducing the international use of oil.
Pickens Plan states that by using natural gas in the place of oil, imported oil demands would drop by
⅓. The money saved from this plan would amount in the billions, which could then be used to repair
the U.S. s damaged economy. However, Pickens idea, like every alternative oil plan, has its flaws. If
Pickens Plan was implemented, the U.S. would not solely be affected; the world and its economy
would be shaken. The supply and demand of oil would fluctuate dangerously, as would its prices.
According to Rediff Business (2013), the United States is ranked number one in worldwide oil
consumption. As of 2012, the U.S. was using 19,150,000 barrels ... Show more content on

Since the U.S. is such a prominent oil buyer from as Corey Flintoff (2012) informs countries such as
Canada, Africa, Latin America, and others, a sudden cease of demand would rock the world s

U.S. demand of oil dropped dramatically, as Pickens Plan says it should, oil supplying countries would
scramble to compensate for lost profits. In theory with the supply and demand model, the cost and
supply of oil would skyrocket, while demand would be nonexistent. Since oil would be so costly,
countries that purchase oil would be unable to afford it anymore, resulting in an even higher increase
of prices and steeper decrease of consumers. With the loss of the U.S. as a consumer, the economies of
these countries would suffer; this suffering would then spread worldwide, affecting everyone

The Pros And Cons Of Tourism
In the third word, tourism is one of the main economic activity for countries with less natural
resources such as timber, oil, and mineral. Britton (1982) indicates that these countries lack structural
economic due to poverty. Today, countries with more money, from the third world, seek to diversify
their economy that has been based on natural resources exploitation. This diversification is based on
ecotourism due to scenic and unique natural biodiversity. This could be part of tourism gaze that Urry
(1990) presents as something distinctive to be gazed upon, that the signs collected by tourists have to
be visually extraordinary. This offering should be visually different and distinguished from otherwise
mundane activities. This visual consumption is attached to the aesthetic appropriation of the
environment that could be characterized by unique flowers, landscapes, or wildlife. As new third
world countries are entering in the market define and control by western people, they have to propose
extraordinary and unique landscape to be gaze, have intense tourism promotion in tourism markets,
and all the infrastructure able to attract tourism to them.

All the third world countries offer mainly the exploration of their unique natural environment. This

Blade Runner What Makes Someone Human
What Makes Someone Human C. Joy Bell C. once said, There is some kind of a sweet innocence in
being human, in not having to be just happy or just sad, in the nature of being able to be both broken
and whole, at the same time. Blade Runner, the film directed by Ridley Scott, brings one to ask
oneself: what really makes someone human? The replicants in this film are an advanced version of
humans, bioengineered and cloned to be stronger, faster, and smarter than humans. Replicants do not
last long, and are retired before they can evolve to have their own emotions or thoughts, many of them
know that they are replicants, but there are a few who have lived believing they are human. Deckard

The replicants themselves are not supposed to be able to feel or understand emotion whatsoever, but
there are however a few newer replicants that have been implanted with memory chips and do not
even know they are not human. Rachael, for example, truly believes she is Tyrell s niece. Some
viewers even believe that Deckard himself is one of these higher technologically advanced replicants
implanted with a memory chip, further skewing the lines between what is human, and what is not.
There are a few scenes that are specifically set to make the viewer question Deckard s humanity for
example; the scene in which Rachael asks Deckard whether or not he has passed the Voight Kampff
test himself, and receives no answer. Another indicator that Deckard is, in fact, a replicant is when he
gets beaten by three different replicants in the later half of the film, yet shows little to no sign of
affliction. Through scenes such as these Ridley Scott builds up the question of Deckard s own
humanity. Producer Michael Deeley points out, Should the replicants kill to gain moral life? Should
Harrison Ford be killing them simply because they want to exist? These questions begin to tangle up
Deckard s thinking... especially when he becomes involved with a female replicant

Nausea or vomiting
There are no specific signs on physical examination that can diagnose angina.
How is angina diagnosed?
Angina is suspected based on symptoms and the diagnosis is typically confirmed with a stress test.
There are various types of stress tests. Your doctor may have you exercise on a treadmill while
monitoring your symptoms, blood pressure, heart rate, and electrocardiogram (stress EKG). If you
have an abnormal EKG at baseline, they might not be able to interpret the EKG during exercise, so
they may perform other tests that provide similar information a stress echocardiogram or nuclear

During a stress echocardiogram, your doctor will look at an ultrasound of your heart before and after
exercise. Similarly, during a nuclear stress test, you doctor will evaluate your heart before and after
exercise using nuclear imaging. If your heart pumps abnormally with exercise, this can suggest that it
is not receiving enough blood during physical activity.
Sometimes, individuals might not be able to use a treadmill due to severe arthritis in the hips or knees,
or because they are paraplegic or unable to walk. During these circumstances, your doctor can
administer an intravenous medication (eg, adenosine, dobutamine) to mimic physical activity. In other

The panic of 1837 was arguably more devastating than the depression of the 1930 s, yet less well
known. During the period of roughly 7 years between 1837 and the mid 1840 s the U.S. economy
underwent massive economic hardships and consequences which many economists ultimately believe
helped lead to the American civil war in 1861. Causes for the panic include: government policies,
speculative lending practices, decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international cash

bill to recharter the second Bank of the United States, in 1832. The federal reserves of the Bank of the
United States were distributed to the state chartered banks that were favored by Jackson. Historians
believe that this led to the reserve ratio being reduced because there was no central bank regulating the
banks. This led to an increase in the money supply and inflation (Sylla). The second policy was the
Deposit Act of 1836, which was the distribution of the surplus in paper money to the states, after the
National Debt was paid (Sylla, Rothbard 99). This extra money caused an increase in spending by the
states (Rothbard 100). The last policy led to the Panic of 1837; the Specie

This analytic essay is an analysis of the management involved with the Everest Simulation created by Harvard Business School. During this 3hour simulation I was the team doctor and achieved all ten of the possible ten points available, therefore 100% of goals were achieved. This score is related to the goals I accomplish as an individual and as a team. I enjoyed the simulation and expanded upon my knowledge as it taught a profound understanding of team dynamics, the capability to accept change, a stronger ability to analyse available information and create effective communication. Our team as a whole obtained 94% of our goals. 2.0 Leadership 2.1 Issue Our team s major goal when completing this simulation was to ensure we scored as many points as possible not only individually but collectively. The enticement to get every member to the summit was alluring; however as a team we decided it was better to stop and contemplate each stage in order to maximise points. As the simulation was a highly structured task this made the concept of an individual leading and managing the team ultimately redundant. Each group member contributed towards being team leader as the group worked cooperatively and cohesively throughout. This issue corresponds to the theory of leadership and in particular substitutes for leadership. A team working as one making informed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, castles were built for military and government means. As centuries went on, hostilities subsided, and wealth started to flow during Renaissance, nobility and royalty started to create vanity castles that were used to be summer houses, hunting houses and royal houses. Castles are used mostly for defense, they protect the nobility from danger, and they were used as a fortress to protect the country. The castles were large enough to be seen over many ... The types of castles they built are Large stone castles were built in Europe from about the 1100 s to about the 1500 s. These huge buildings served not only to defend the country from foreign invaders but as the basic tool in preserving the king s and the nobles power over the land. ( Castles in Medieval Times. Before stone was used for building castles they had to use some not as durable material but they built the fortress to withstand the enemy s. The weaker materials used helped but they weren t the best. They only used them because that s all they had at the time Stone and wood were about the only building materials available. Despite the fact that the both holidays ring in the new year and we get a break from school, Rosh Hashanah holds a different and deeper meaning. On the surface both holidays seem to be the same: there are resolutions, there are celebrations taking place, and we bustle around to prepare for coming holidays. However, when you take a closer look you can see that these are only shallow similarities. Both on New Years and on Rosh Hashana we make resolutions, promising to begin to better ourselves. However on New Years our resolutions are for us. We make promises to ourselves. When we make resolutions they not only involve but a second party as well. They also involve hashem. We promise to try and keep his mitzvot better. The promises we make on rosh hashanah are not only for us but also for Hashem. On New Years the promises we make are for us. Finally, the ... This is something you can find every Jew doing on the eve of Rosh Hashanah. However, when it comes to dealing with the secular New Year, things are quite different. Firstly, the hustle and bustle of getting ready for a party is not required, some people opt to stay at home and watch the ball drop on their TV. Secondly, there is no asking friends and family and teachers and classmates to forgiveness. We do not worry about Hashem judging us, and there is no anxiety about being written in the book of ... A New Alliance For A Future North American Union The three relatively unpopular governments presently enthroned in Washington, Ottawa and Mexico City, joined in very large companies, most of them American, to establish the foundation for a future North American Union. This is a new alliance of permanent type within which the Americans have a de facto predominant influence. It would force Canada and Mexico to harmonize many laws and regulations in the interests of the world of Big Business and those of US administrations primarily concerned with their imperial ambitions and undemocratic worldwide. It is obvious that such a continental thrust integration plan, both economically and politically, is substantially different from the original idea of fair and free trade in goods and services, through the abolition tariff and non tariff barriers between the countries of the hemisphere. This idea first took shape with the free trade agreement of 1988 between Canada and the United States. Subsequently, in 1994, Canada had to accept that Mexico is joining the North American Free Trade Agreement, also forcing him to make substantial concessions on the application of the Investment Canada Act, which governs foreign takeovers of Canadian companies, in addition to ensuring the US privileged access to Canadian energy resources. All this should have been enough to open the US market to Canadian companies. It seems, however, that this is not the case. Martin Luther, John Calvin And The Protestant Reformation One theme present during the reformation, was smaller churches breaking off from the larger church, and establishing their own forms of christianity. Many people were unhappy with the way the church was running and sought to reform these flaws by making their own forms of the church. People such as Martin Luther and John Calvin, were unhappy with how the church was being run created their own religions. Martin Luther created Lutheranism, which did not believe in the selling of indulgences and believed that salvation was granted by faith alone. Both of these ideas went against the Church at the time and his ideas were highly disputed. John calvin had created Calvinism, which believed in predestination, which meant that God had already decided who was saved, and who was damned. The idea of predestination also went against the church s idea that faith and good works lead to salvation. 2. No Child Left Behind Act Pros And Cons The No Child Left Behind Act is a revision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, which provided federal aid to schools with large populations of low income students (Hudson 7). The original purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act was to close the achievement gap between students and ensure all teachers and principals are highly qualified. The difference between ESEA and the No Child Left Behind Act is the ESEA abstained from tying funding to achievement. The No child Left Behind Act fails to take into consideration the real world application of socioeconomic differences in the United States. The oxidative stress can cause cell damage, resulting in inflammation, which has also been found to be a major contributor to disease progression of GM2 gangliosidosis [17]. In this study, we identified elevation in glutathione pathways, which plays a pivotal role in responses to oxidative stress. Another evidence of inflammation is reduced levels of arachidonic acid, an omega 6 fatty acid, in brain samples of SD mice. Oxidation of arachidonic acid can generate leukotrienes, a family of eicosanoid inflammatory mediators produced in leukocytes, and thus promote inflammation. The increased energy requirements can also activate autophagy and protein catabolism, which have been found in MPS I and MPS VII mice [13]. In this study, we found increased levels of amino acids, amino acid derivatives and dipeptides, indicating increased protein catabolism. Increased requirements of energy and raw materials can also activate lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism, manifested by decreased adiposity, a common observation in many lysosomal diseases [18 20]. In addition, the enlarged lysosome and distended cells due to abnormal accumulation requires increased membrane synthesis, which can also affect lipid metabolism. Our previous proteomic analysis [21] also identified abnormality in the cytoskeleton system, which can be partially attributed to altered cellular architecture due to storage accumulation. Alfred is someone who has had greatness thrust upon him. How and why did he acquire his glowing reputation, and how does it stand up today? There can be no doubt that Alfred s reign was significant, both for the direction of the country s development and the fortunes of his descendants. Alfred was the only surviving Anglo Saxon province. Alfred nearly succumbed to the Vikings, but kept his nerve and won a decisive victory at the battle of Edington in 879. He then paved the way for the future unity of England, who conquered the remaining areas held by the Vikings in the east and north, so that by the mid tenth century, the England we are familiar with, was ruled as one country for the first time. Crisp argues within hist article that Johnathan Edwards beliefs should be studied and offer a challenge to contemporary theologians to think about these matters more organically (Crisp, 49). Crisp gives an analysis of Johnathan Edwards beliefs on communion, the process, and the requirements to obtain communion. He states that Edwards believed that there had to be a confession of faith included with the communion service, and that only when they gave an outward piece of evidence that they were converted from their sins that they should and could obtain communion (Crisp, 55). He argues with Edwards that the person who does not believe in God should not be allowed to attend the Lord s Supper (Crisp, 63). If any are not working correctly, blood cannot flow or be pumped effectively to the heart. The four valves are: the tricuspid, pulmonary semilunar, mitral, and aortic semilunar. There are many abnormalities or defects that can affect their operation and in this paper, I will discuss the most common one which is a mitral valve prolapse. A valvular prolapse is an abnormal protrusion of a heart valve that causes the valve to not close completely. It is also known as click murmur syndrome and Barlow s syndrome and is more prevalent in women than men. It has a strong hereditary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unless it has progressed to something severe, the patientwill probably not need treatment. If it has become severe, then the patient can benefit from surgery to repair or replace the leaky valve. • 25. Chin The Largest Economy At present, China is the largest economy in the world, overtaking the US in January 2015. It is also the world s second largest oil consumer behind the US (Chen 2015) and the world s largest net importer of crude oil (Dunn 2014). Its net importer status was driven by steady economic growth, with rapidly rising Chinese petroleum demand outpacing production growth (EIA 2014). China is also the fourth largest oil producing country in the world (Refer to Appendix ___). The growth in the developing nation s economy over the past 3 decades was heavily dependent on its low cost advantage compared to those of other countries. During this period of growth, foreign companies flocked to China to set up production facilities and factories to capitalize on this cost advantage. Raw materials are shipped to China, where factory workers build the final products and export them out to various countries (Wassener 2014). However, recently, china s economy has experienced a significant slowdown due to the shift in growth of the nation to rely more on private enterprise and domestic consumption. This shift in economy reduces its demand for industrial raw materials for manufacturing, which translates to a decrease in demand of oil for use in production plants. A survey of China s industrial heartland identified decreases in key areas of new orders, export orders and output prices (Letts 2015). Furthermore, being the world s second largest consumer of oil, this move that China makes will have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Analysis Of The Book I m Going At The Beach Introduction 45 to 60 seconds Audio Amy loves to read historical fiction novels. She has collected many of these novels over the years. One day she hopes to write her own fiction novels. For now, she enjoys writing short fiction as a way to practice her writing skills. When Amy writes her fictional short stories she makes sure to include a good plot structure and exciting characters. The most fun part for Amy is figuring out what type of conflict she will create for her characters. She also enjoys demonstrating through her writing how unique her characters are. She does this by allowing them to speak in dialects specific to their birth place. For example, in one of her stories, the main character is from New Jersey. So, each time the character refers to the beach, she says down the shore. Saying I m going down the shore , instead I m going to the beach, is common among those born in New Jersey. Even though her characters do not speak formal English, Amy writes all of her short fiction in formal academic English. Build on Introduction 25 to 35 seconds Ben picked up one of Amy s short stories about residents working together in order to establish a small town in Florida. Because these residents were originally from the Caribbean islands, their dialect varied away from formal academic English. When quoting from these characters, Amy represents their dialect accurately. As a result, her final work of fiction is a mixture of formal and informal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay Abstract In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and the company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars. This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagen as an environmentally friendly car when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The company initially had an increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large sum of money as mentioned above to settle a lawsuit. Keywords: Volkswagen, business ethics case, lawsuit, leadership Volkswagen Business Ethics On September 18, 2015 Volkswagen hit the news with a scandal relating to unethical practices involved in the production of its diesel cars (McHugh, 2015, October 12, para. 3). Volkswagen used a device to pass the emissions test when the emissions on these cars were higher than the allowed levels; thereby the company cheated the system. Emissions Device The company declared that it had a cheat device installed on its 11 million diesel operated cars. Causes Of The Los Angeles Riots The twentieth century brought with it many conflicts, such as both World Wars, the Great Depression, and civil unrest, the latter of which its effects can still be seen today. The Civil Rights Movement of the sixties, paved the way for more demonstrations during the last quarter of the twentieth century. One of the greatest of these demonstrations was the Los Angeles Riots (commonly known as the Rodney King Riots) of nineteen ninety two. The Civil Rights Movement had a goal, which was to end segregation and discrimination of African Americans, and to try to improve the wellbeing by integrating both communities. This movement had led to many others, both peaceful and violent. However, the goal between them all was the same. There has been many conflicts in the past between African Americans and the Anglo community, where most were caused due to the discrimination or taking out the anger they had after seeing themselves being treated a certain way. Before the riots, racial tensions had already risen. There was lots of gang related activity and crime in the poor communities of Los Angeles, where many were unemployed. These communities were common to drug sweeps, where more than eighty officers tore apart a pair of apartment buildings, leaving dozens homeless (History.com). On the night of March third, nineteen ninety one, King had high levels of alcohol in his blood, due to drinking. He had been involved in a pursuit by the police department of Los Angeles. As King ... Pickens Plan states that by using natural gas in the place of oil, imported oil demands would drop by ⅓. The money saved from this plan would amount in the billions, which could then be used to repair the U.S. s damaged economy. However, Pickens idea, like every alternative oil plan, has its flaws. If Pickens Plan was implemented, the U.S. would not solely be affected; the world and its economy would be shaken. The supply and demand of oil would fluctuate dangerously, as would its prices. If the U.S. demand of oil dropped dramatically, as Pickens Plan says it should, oil supplying countries would scramble to compensate for lost profits. In theory with the supply and demand model, the cost and supply of oil would skyrocket, while demand would be nonexistent. Since oil would be so costly, countries that purchase oil would be unable to afford it anymore, resulting in an even higher increase of prices and steeper decrease of consumers. Joy Bell C. once said, There is some kind of a sweet innocence in being human, in not having to be just happy or just sad, in the nature of being able to be both broken and whole, at the same time. Blade Runner, the film directed by Ridley Scott, brings one to ask oneself: what really makes someone human? The replicants in this film are an advanced version of humans, bioengineered and cloned to be stronger, faster, and smarter than humans. The replicants themselves are not supposed to be able to feel or understand emotion whatsoever, but there are however a few newer replicants that have been implanted with memory chips and do not even know they are not human. Rachael, for example, truly believes she is Tyrell s niece. Some viewers even believe that Deckard himself is one of these higher technologically advanced replicants implanted with a memory chip, further skewing the lines between what is human, and what is not. There are a few scenes that are specifically set to make the viewer question Deckard s humanity for example; the scene in which Rachael asks Deckard whether or not he has passed the Voight Kampff test himself, and receives no answer. Another indicator that Deckard is, in fact, a replicant is when he gets beaten by three different replicants in the later half of the film, yet shows little to no sign of affliction. Through scenes such as these Ridley Scott builds up the question of Deckard s own humanity. Producer Michael Deeley points out, Should the replicants kill to gain moral life? Should Harrison Ford be killing them simply because they want to exist? These questions begin to tangle up Deckard s thinking... especially when he becomes involved with a female replicant ... During the period of roughly 7 years between 1837 and the mid 1840 s the U.S. economy underwent massive economic hardships and consequences which many economists ultimately believe helped lead to the American civil war in 1861. Causes for the panic include: government policies, speculative lending practices, decline in cotton prices, a collapsing land bubble, international cash flow and restrictive lending policies (Wiki). Historians believe that it was Jackson s policies that lead to the inflationary boom and the Panic of 1837, which suspended the convertibility of paper money into specie. Historians point the finger to three of Jackson s policies. The first was Jackson s veto of a bill to recharter the second Bank of the United States, in 1832. The federal reserves of the Bank of the United States were distributed to the state chartered banks that were favored by Jackson. Historians believe that this led to the reserve ratio being reduced because there was no central bank regulating the banks. This led to an increase in the money supply and inflation (Sylla). The second policy was the Deposit Act of 1836, which was the distribution of the surplus in paper money to the states, after the National Debt was paid (Sylla, Rothbard 99). This extra money caused an increase in spending by the states (Rothbard 100). The last policy led to the Panic of 1837; the Specie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
