The Negative Effects Of Advertising And Its Effects On Women
Picture this you re watching your favorite show and then all of a sudden this pops up IT WILL
LITERALLY MAKE YOU SKINNY IN LITERALLY 2 HOURS! ONLY $19.99 AND IF YOU
ORDER NOW YOU LL GET 2 FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!! I bet you can literally picture it and
hear it perfectly but this is the problem with are advertising. Advertising is a big part of our culture but
it s taken a toll on our people including the children. Advertising has effects on our people s bodies,
self esteem, and is manipulative.
First, advertisements have a toll on the people especially women and children. Women are affected by
the fact that the models used must be so skinny and this makes woman self conscious. Parallels are
frequently drawn between the decreasing size of the female body ideal and both escalating levels of
women s body dissatisfaction and increases in the incidence of eating disorders There is now growing
empirical support for the view that these images play a role in fueling women s body dissatisfaction. (
Halliwell and Dittmar 105 106) This shows that advertisements make woman feel self conscious and
cause an unhealthy effect on the bodies of woman. Internalization of sociocultural attitudes toward
thinness and appearance moderated the impact of advertising on women s body focused anxiety.
(Halliwell and Dittmar 119). This further proves the point that advertisements cause effects to the
body because anxiety can stress the body out which isn t healthy and can also cause you to be sick.

Male Aged Four Years ( 48 Months )
Introduction
The subject of this case study is a male aged four years (48 months). The setting is a voluntary aided
faith nursery which follows a religious syllabus. It has children from a specific Islamic background.
Within the nursery each child is assigned a key worker, who works with the child on a one to one basis
and performs in partnership with parents or/carers to assist their child s learning and development.
There are about 17 children to 6 adults. Child A (as he will be known) has no special educational
needs, is an only child and English is his original dialect.
Physical

Consequently child A, through the scaffolding cycle, would be able to utilise his fine motor skills to
do his zip up himself. Hence, child A s skills are developing through the process of scaffolding, as he
will retain this information.
Intellectual
There was a specific observation of mention when Child A was in the computer corner playing a water
themed counting game. When estimating the number of objects on the screen, he used his fingers to
count the sea animals, 1, 2,3,4,5, 6 animals and looked at me for confirmation asking, is it 6? . This
shows that Child A is developing within the usual ranges of development, Estimates how many objects
they can see and checks by counting them , (Development Matters in the EYFS, 2012, p.34).
Piaget believes children learn best by doing and that they must be additionally active in their own
understanding. He also believes that knowledge must be assembled and reassembled by the child.
Subsequently Child A, within the stages of schema, would experience a new notion of dealing with
numbers. The existing schema does not work as child A has no prior knowledge on counting sea
animals. Thus disequilibrium arises until Child A is able to assimilate and accommodate the
contemporary knowledge and attain equilibrium. Hence, Child A uses his fingers to count aloud and
signify each finger with a specific number. For future recommendation, I would have Child A
complete sums where he can count the objects in two

The Mediation For Interstate Water Disputes
III. ANALYSIS
States should utilize mediation to resolve interstate water disputes. Mediation is a viable dispute
resolution process for water disputes because it can address states underlying interests, and can fit
within the existing legal framework. Mediation is also an adaptable process, which states can adapt to
their needs and interests. Not only should states attempt to adopt this process, but courts and special
masters should also push states towards mediation as an alternative to litigation for dispute resolution.
This section proceeds in three parts. The first part discusses the advantages of mediation as a dispute
resolution process. The second part discusses how states should structure mediation for interstate
water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. Time Mediation will provide a quicker and more efficient process than litigation. Water disputes can
last for decades. For example, the Tri State dispute began in the early 1980s, but continues to this day.
Water lawsuits, before the Supreme Court, also proceed slowly with years spent on discovery and
determining whether a violation of a compact has occurred. Mediation can resolve disputes at a more
reasonable pace. But, mediation can also be slow itself with one water mediation lasting over six years
with no progress. Therefore, it is crucial that both mediators and states focus on creating deadlines for
themselves and ensuring mediation proceeds without delay. In general, mediation will produce faster
outcomes for states.
2. Cost States will save significant taxpayers dollars by choosing mediation over litigation. States that
have chosen to pursue mediation have cited the massive expenses involved in litigation as one of their
primary reasons for doing so. For example, in the Tri State dispute, Georgia allocated over twenty
million dollars to fund its ongoing litigation with Florida and Alabama. Due to both the process and
the reduced time frame, mediation should serve to reduce costs for states. However, mediation will
also have associated costs. For example, costs for experts and data collection may be significant.
Nevertheless, mediation is likely to be less expensive compared to

Essay on Review of the BBC History Website
The BBC History website is very eclectic, covering an immense range of history and as a resource, it
could be suggested that it is a victim of trying to appeal all levels of historical interest from the
academic to the mildly interested. It has been variously described as relevant and fascinating , a useful
research tool , catering to the non specialist whilst including valuable material for the historical
researcher . As a site there is an obvious preference given to any historical programming by the BBC
be it television or radio and such programming is also available through the iPlayer facility. The home
page of the website is attractive and designed to appeal to as many readers as possible. It is sub
divided into boxes each giving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final box gives access to the interactive part of the website. From this overview of the home page
of the site it is possible to see that the BBC is attempting to appeal to a wide audience but it is also
keeping its emphasis on its home market; the majority of the topics covered are related to British
history and those that are more global still have a British reference within them. To critically evaluate
the site, it is essential to bear in mind that the BBC will try, as far as possible, to take a unbiased view;
if a programme is a general history of a period, such as Andrew Marr s The Making of Modern Britain
, then the BBC always attributes ownership of the opinion and interpretation to the presenter or writer.
The statement The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites would suggest that
they are responsible for their internal sites but who decides on the site content is not so clear. The
home page of BBC History leads to a vast network of topics and other sites. To critically evaluate the
whole site would, perhaps, diminish some of what it is trying to achieve, accessibility of history to all.

Comparing Virginia And Virginia Colonies
After King James I came to the throne, he perceived that New World could be a place where British
could make a profitable settlement as New Spain was for Spaniards. Hence, many colonies began to
develop their colonization in New World. Out of thirteen colonies, Virginia and Massachusetts
remained most remarkable colonies in American history. The early settlements of the Virginia and
Massachusetts were both established by groups of people from England at the same time of period;
however, their dissimilar beginnings as colonies, motivations to being adventurers , view on religion
and ideology, and means of economic stability created two singular politics and economic systems.
The root of both colonies might be the same but Virginia colonies and Massachusetts colonies became
two different individual colonies by the end of their independence from England.
The basic concept of being adventurer for Virginia colonies were an obtain a charter for London
Company. Under King James I s order, young and ambitious noblemen who believed that they would
immediately find gold and bring fortune on the way back to their home country. However, the reality
was much harsher and brutal than they imagined. Most of the colonies whom arrived at Virginia at the
very first time, faced and suffered from the starvation and disease and eventually died from those due
to the failure adaptation of the new environments. Therefore, King James I kept sending more and
more British colonies to Virginia to

Hernan Cortes And Christopher Columbus
Hernan Cortes was a famous conquistador that lived from 1485 to 1547. He was born in Medellin,
Castile, Spain in 1485 to parents Martín Cortés de Monroy and Catalina Pizarro Altamirano. He was
born into a wealthy and famous family. His father was captain of the Spanish army. When Cortes was
young, his parents wanted him to become a lawyer, so they sent him off to the University of
Salamanca in northwestern Spain at the age of fourteen. In 1501, Cortes came back to Medellin at the
age of sixteen. He did not want to become a lawyer. Cortes truly wanted to be an explorer, after
hearing the tales of Christopher Columbus. He was so fascinated by the tales, that he would one day

What Is The Theme Of The Country Husband By John Cheever
1. Introduction Literary scholars and critics have often commented upon the structural complexity of
John Cheever s short story The Country Husband . For example, George W. Hunt argues that it is a
long story, so rich in accident and in emotional colorations that it reads more like a novella (273).
Often cited is also Vladimir Nabokov s expression that the story under discussion is [a] miniature
novel (qtd. in Dessner 58). Hence, it is quite safe to assert that the body of this work of literature is
rich in imagery, various motifs and symbols. The war imagery is just the one of the most discussed
issues (e.g., Hipkiss 577 579). According to Lawrence Jay Dessner, [n]ot a page in The Country

Character Analysis Of Watchmen And Jimmy Corrig The...
The superhero archetype is traditionally a staple of the comic book medium. The Golden Age of
comics, a period of comic publishing between the 1930s and early 1950s, was rife with larger than life
super human figures, who often served as an escape from the anxieties produced by war and everyday
life. Superheroes like Superman, Batman, and Captain America function as cultural representations of
idealism and the American Dream. However, representations of heroism in comic books has shifted
significantly since the bright eyed idealism and Romanticism of the Golden Age. In the Modern Age
of comic publishing, contemporary comics tend to appropriate, adapt, and deconstruct tropes from the
Golden and Silver Age of comics. Ultimately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The text is wrought with nihilism, cynicism, and multiple characters who are affected by the power of
the abyss. The Comedian s big joke is that there is no point to anything, and he does not really care. It
is not a particularly funny joke , but it ultimately speaks to the motif of nihilism within the comic. This
sensation of nihilism is aligned with the corruption of the American Hero archetype. It is impossible to
ignore the fact that the novel is constructed around a sort of alternative future/past, an alternate
universe that functions within a political climate which exacerbates the tensions between America and
other nations, as well as internally. There is a sort of anti Romanticism about this text that renders the
characters more human, despite the fact that they are supposed to be the hero figures. The inclusion of
Hollis Mason s Under The Hood, excerpts from a fictional extra textual element of the story prove that

what extent they were only people, especially when their roles as heroes are trumped by the advent of

Women s Anger Research Paper
Life is like balancing a scale, and every shift in life is a function of the display or the demonstration of
power. Power is a force that governs everything in life, and out of the many forms of power, anger is
one form often dismissed. Anger is a type of power generated from the feeling of inequality aimed at
balancing out an uneven scale the victim feels. For a long time in history, women have been unequally
treated, discriminated against, and subdued in spite of their attempt to change the gender inequality
they experience. Their actions are being characterized as having temper tantrums, excessive rage and
often times, mental instability. The anger in women, fueled by gender inequality, is a display of their
power. This paper explores the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women s anger is considered an unjustified, futile claim that originates from an unintelligible object
who has no position or rights to be respected. Frye believes anger is an instrument that aids in
articulating one s power. However, women s anger is not viewed as a valid emotion because women
are not considered valid people, which thereby fails to convey their power. Without the ability to
declare their power and change this unequal standard, women remain demeaned and thus continuing

Drought In The Dust Bowl
The Dust Bowl drought was the worst in U.S. history that was around 1930. It was in the mid west
where it covered sixty percent of the country. Millions of people had to move to other parts because it
lasted four years. It was at its peak in 1934 according to National Climate Data Center . We already
have a lot of drought in California and west although one might say it is all of the U.S. With little rain
and high tempatures in the summers drys out the vegatation which become a hazard for fires. Global
warming might have some to do with the problem of drought. High populations need more water, with
more water being used, depletes resources of water supplies which causes drought also. People need to
become more aware of the use of the use of water, a lot of people take it for granite that there is plenty
out there for all of us to share. In fact, if we don t start to conserve, we might not have water like we

The War On Drugs And Its Impact On The United States
The current policy in use by the United States concerning illegal drugs is both outdated and unfair.
This so called war on drugs is a deeply rooted campaign of prohibition and unfair sentencing that is
very controversial and has been debated for many years. The war on drugs is designed so that it will
never end. This current drug was has very little impact on the overall supply of prohibited drugs and
its impact on demand seems non existent. United States taxpayers are spending billions of dollars on
this failure of policy. They are spending billions to incarcerate drug users instead offering drug
treatment which could help lower demand. Legalizing illicit would lower abuse and deaths from use
and could have a positive economic impact on the United States. Certain industries are making
massive sums of money by capitalizing on the drug war. Currently, many prisons are beginning to be
run by private corporations. If a company is running a prison then they need prisoners to stay in
business. Around 1 in every 107 Americans is currently being housed in a prison. The United States
has about 5 percent of the world s population yet 25 percent of its prisoners(ACA, 2008). This is the
easiest way to maintain a large prison population is by maintaining the current drug war. The largest
private prison company in the United States is Corrections Corp. of America(ACA, 2008). In the last

A Study Of Historical And Literary Context
Aside from discovering a text through the study of historical and literary context, it also requires a
careful grammatical analysis of the passage under consideration (Black 72). Grammatical analysis is
the separation of a subject to its parts or elements. Therefore, for one to effectively pull out the
contextual meaning of a text, they must understand the text; and to effectively pull out the original
meaning of a particular text, one must correctly exegete the text. In particular, when gaining an
understanding of a text through the process of exegesis, one must use textual analysis, lexical analysis,
syntactical analysis, and structural analysis (Black 73 79). All of which contribute to the importance of
text interpretation.
When the interpreter discovers alternative wording within the Bible, textual analysis comes into play
(Black 73). Defined as an attempt to determine the original wording of a document , textual analysis is
essential for determining the wording within individual verses (Black 73). During the process of
textual analysis, the breaking down of a text to each individual word that points to the original
meaning of a text occurs. In conclusion, it links meanings together to form one thought; this leads to
lexical analysis.
The attempt to determine the meaning of the words within the text is known as lexical analysis (Black
73). The fundamental concern of lexical analysis is a word study (Black 73). When one carefully
examines a text to pull the meaning

Kenya Morris Sherman Essay
Cynthia Morris Sherman, better known as Cindy Sherman, is a heavily renowned American
photographer. Known best for her unique conceptual portraits. Throughout her early work, Sherman,
made her message clear, depicting women s role throughout society. Commenting extensively on
American sexism during the 1970s. Through this communication, her style was made clear, allowing it
to evolve in the future.
Firstly, it was essentially extremely eccentric, focusing heavily on the experimental movements of the
time period. This style all began through untitled stills, in which she is still most popular for to this
day.
Sherman s style through these stills put her on the map immediately in the New York scene. An
example of this could be seen through her very early untitled stills. Within film still ... Show more

Second off, her style was a complex, ever changing wheel of emotion. Sherman utilized self
portraiture as well as role playing, as shown previously in her untitled film stills. Often, these early
stills maintained a black and white aesthetic, not particularly focusing heavily on details, but rather the
reasoning for what was there as well as what it meant. This made ,most of the early stills very bare
bones to the point. This maintained a grounded level for each portrait, keeping the message and
character portrayed a little vague yet understandable with thought. The main common subject among
all of these images, Sherman is dead center. Due to the fact that these are self portraits, the viewer s
eyes always fall upon her, in which it s the same case among the untitled stills.
Thirdly, Sherman s technique may be one of the most unique throughout artistic history. Within her
work, an approach extremely influenced by portrait photography is present. Due to the fact of this, she
approached her portraits with a single feature in focus. She kept this same technique for the vast

Apple didn t fix this, hackers can easily get into the Phone exposing all of your information or even

Persuasive Essay On Abolish Holidays
Every year as Halloween comes to an end, the Christmas decorations start to appear in the stores, the

thing happens with Easter. As Valentine s Day comes to a close the Easter candy comes out, the

stuff? Does any of it mean anything? Stores are not bringing out nativity scenes and crucifixes; they

This is truly disappointing for many reasons. People are not celebrating these holidays for what they
are to be celebrated for. Today, they have become all about the gifts, decorations, and food. Today,
kids will throw a fit because they did not get the gifts that they wanted. When in reality these holidays
are not even supposed to be about the gifts. On the other hand, there are 17.4 million families that
struggle to put food on the table and pay the bills (Malter). These parents do not want their children to
feel left out next to the other kids whose parents make a lot of money. Parents who struggle have to
find ways to make more money so their children can celebrate the holidays with gifts just like the rest
of society. This is unfair to the 14% of families who feel they have to get their children gifts for these
holidays because that is what is expected (Malter). If the holidays were celebrated the way they are
supposed to be, which is just with the company of family and friends, these families would not have to
worry about how they are going to make their children happy on Christmas or Easter. For the families

Essay about Eagle Poem
Explication In the poem by Joy Harjo called Eagle Poem, Harjo talks about prayer and life and how
they revolve around mother nature. She suggests that while being one with nature, we feel we are in a
place in which we haven t imagined and the things in which we would love to do in that magnificent
and calming place. After one reads the poem, he/she enjoys the lyrical type of it. This is because Eagle
Poem sticks to one idea and extends it throughout the entire poem. For instance, it talks about prayer,
nature, and animals from start to finish. In the first three lines of the poem, Harjo talks about opening
oneself up to nature where you feel yourself. She does this by connecting the human body to the sky,
earth, sun, and moon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once one finishes the poem he/she feels the want to reread it to catch something possibly missed the
first time around. Then, if one learns about who Joy Harjo is and where she is from, one will truly
understand this poem. After learning that the author has a Native American and Canadian ancestry,
things that were unclear became extremely visible. It was easy to relate to the idea of this poem due to
religious reasons and ones faith in prayer. If one believes in prayer and nature bringing peace to
oneself, then one can relate to this poem in a deeper manner. Eagle Poem has turned out to be more
enjoyable and intriguing than expected. The style throughout the poem was well thought out by Harjo
though she is writing about a very soft topic. Although she is speaking from her ancestry, she
effectively presents strong points in a well organized manner. Though one might not find peacefulness
in everyday life, there is always that one place for everyone, just not imagined quite yet. Poet
Biography Throughout Harjos career, she has had many accomplishments not only as a poet, but as a
person in general. She has had many hardships to overcome throughout her life, but those experiences
are what have made her the poet she is today. Born on May 9, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma Joy Harjo
comes from two well known ancestries; Native American and Canadian (Joy). In her early years she
was more involved with her painter family then her native

Cite Source Analysis
How do I cite sources?
This depends on what type of work you are writing, how you are using the borrowed material, and the
expectations of your instructor.
First, you have to think about how you want to identify your sources. If your sources are very
important to your ideas, you should mention the author and work in a sentence that introduces your
citation. If, however, you are only citing the source to make a minor point, you may consider using
parenthetical references, footnotes, or endnotes.
There are also different forms of citation for different disciplines. For example, when you cite sources
in a psychology paper you would probably use a different form of citation than you might in a paper
for an English class.
Finally, you should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the source is central to your work, you may want to introduce it in a separate sentence or two,
summarizing its importance and main ideas. But often you can just tag this information onto the
beginning or end of a sentence. For example, the following sentence puts information about the author
and work before the quotation:
Milan Kundera, in his book The Art of the Novel, suggests that if the novel should really disappear, it
will do so not because it has exhausted its powers but because it exists in a world grown alien to it.
You may also want to describe the author(s) if they are not famous, or if you have reason to believe
your reader does not know them. You should say whether they are economic analysts, artists,
physicists, etc. If you do not know anything about the author, and cannot find any information, it is
best to say where you found the source and why you believe it is credible and worth citing. For
example,
In an essay presented at an Asian Studies conference held at Duke University, Sheldon Geron analyzes

Analyzing Alyss The Looking Glass Wars
In Frank Beddorś The Looking Glass Wars, the story of Alice in Wonderland has a little bit of a twist
on it. Beddor changes the story and makes it from Alyss´ perspective. Alyss is the princess of
Wonderland, and was obligated to leave the/her queendom when her vicious Aunt Redd tries to
overthrow her. She then, out of the blue finds herself all alone in the huge country of England. Finally,
Alyss returns to the queendom and redeemed her throne as princess. This novel has many important
themes throughout it. As an example, making sacrifices for love is distinct in the actions of Alyss. She
sacrifices her family, home, herself and even her memories. A character in the novel that sacrifices is

because her mother, Genevieve made her leave and go elsewhere because her Genevieve cannot

Nonetheless these are general characteristics, most of which apply to any given low cost carrier.
Most successful low cost carriers try to offer a modicum of additional benefits, such as better on time
performance or more legroom. AirTran Airways has been very successful with its low fare Business
Class, while Frontier and JetBlue offer live in flight television. US Airways offers a first class product,
and a very extensive route network including international destinations.
The first successful low cost carrier was Pacific Southwest Airlines in the United States, which
pioneered the concept when their first flight took place on May 6, 1949. However, Southwest Airlines
that began service in 1971 and has been profitable every year since 1973. With the advent of aviation
deregulation, the model spread to Europe as well, the most notable successes being Ireland s Ryanair,
which began low fares operations in 1991, and easyJet, formed in 1995. Low cost carriers developed
in Asia and Oceania from 2000 led by operators such as Malaysia s AirAsia, and Australia s Virgin
Blue. The low cost carrier model is applicable worldwide, although deregulated markets are most
suited for its rapid spread. In 2006, new low cost carriers were announced in Saudi Arabia and
Mexico.
Low cost carriers pose a serious threat to traditional full service airlines, since the high cost structure
of full service carriers prevents them from competing

The world is witnessing all the countries trying to be the same infra structurally and through the

achieved through difference between all the countries. Countries should shoot questions to themselves
asking why other countries would come for investing and for tourism rather than going to other
countries.

A group of people with sufficient motivation, opportunity and ability form the tourism market. The
process of dividing the market into groups of likeminded people with similar thoughts, and behavior
attributes is known as market segmentation. The more effective market segmentation is done, the more
effective marketing can be done and served to tourists according to their need instead of randomly
serving the tourists. So market segmentation is directly proportional to tourism marketing strategy. So
segmentation should depend on the factors that matter the most to the tourist crowd. Segmentation
will mostly depend on the criteria which is commonly used and also on criteria which is unknown and
can be new to the tourism department.
Role of Positioning
The form of market communication that increases the attractiveness of a tourist destination is said to
be positioning. One of the important tools in shaping the tourism marketing is positioning. The main
goal of positioning is to create a place holder for the tourist destination in the minds of potential
customer. Positioning involves the process of evoking images of the tourist place in the minds of the
customers and effective positioning helps in differentiating the images from the other competing
destinations. Positioning is the process that follows the successful implementation of market
segmentation. So an effective positioning strategy enables a competitive edge to the tourist destination
that is trying

The Collapse of the Domino --- Chinese Real Estate
With the outbreak of the U.S. financial crisis in 2008, the whole world s financial situation is not
good, but except one, which is China. However, many people find out that China is walking on the old
U.S. economic way, which means China will have economic crisis either. So right now, all the eyes
from all the countries are watching at China s economy, because if Chinese economic collapse, there
are no more people buy Japanese animations and European luxuries. And after the economic crisis,
China will recovery U.S. Treasury bonds, but American unable to pay, then the whole world economy
is facing collapse; we can call that butterfly effect. So right now, in this context, the same conditions,
and the same nature of the Chinese economy grows up, any black swan events are likely to be the fuse
of Chinese financial crisis, and even the world economic crisis fuse. For example, the author of
Chinese Citizens Have Their Eyes on Bubble, C. Cindy Fan mentions that the fuse of Chinese
economic crisis is real estate. Right now, Chinese people put all their savings into real estate, which
led to the housing bubble, but because of consumer demand, the government is unable to stop it. (Fan)
I agree with Fan s idea, which is Chinese economy will collapse because of Chinese real estate bubble.
Consequently, whether China will have the financial crisis, the focus should be on the how big is the
China s real estate bubble, and when will it burst. As for how big is the China s real

Analysis Of The Movie Lone Survivor

Lone Survivor
Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell is a nonfiction memoir told from his view of the war and what
really happened during Operation Red Wings. Peter Berg directed the movie Lone Survivor based off
what Luttrell wrote in his memoir. Although the movie is based on the novel, there are subtle
differences between the movie both Luttrell and Berg made in the memoir and movie. These various
differences not only change the view and knowledge of this event but also the audiences
understanding of the real history of Operation Red Wings. When audiences watched the movie or read
the memoir they believe everything is correct and accurate. But Luttrell and Berg have subtle
differences between their two works. The first difference is that Luttrell nearly dies in the opening and
closing of the film. The film opens with a voice over and Marcus Luttrell is airlifted back to military
base. As the plane lands, Marcus Luttrell literally dies while they are trying to save him. The script of
the movie shows the Surgical pack working franticly [sic] to save Luttrell ...Pushing in on the flat line.

Why Is Christianity Over Other Religions

I am going to fight for the Christianity religion and discuss my reasoning, Why Christianity over other
religions? Well Christianity is the only religion in which God reaches down to man by becoming a
man and in the other religions god just sits and watches over the down below. When leaders of other
religions shut the door on Christ by denying who He is, they shut the door on salvation. The reason we
are forgave for our sins is because Christ dealt with our sin on the cross, while other religions require

How Do Kids Back Now
The childhood of kids back then compared to the childhood of kids now are so distinct. So many things
have changed, especially the amount of technology in their lives. How is it possible that things can
change in a short amount of time? Well it happened, things changed. The way a kid lives his/her life
now compared to how kids use to live their life back then has changed dramatically. Kids back then
were pretty laid back, but full of so many adventures as well. When I was 11 in years old in 2011 I
remember spending most of my life outdoors, playing hide and seek, bike riding, going to the park,
walking through woods to discover new places with my cousins and neighbors or just doing crazy
dumb things but they were always worth it because now once I think back they were mini adventures
and great stories to tell. There was nothing better than being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air and
freedom. Wherever you turned kids were always there despite the weather. During the summer they d
be scattered everywhere while in the fall, they ll be jumping in the leaves. Then in the winter, making
a snowman and angels. Later coming home to just simply watching the best shows on nickelodeon
like Victorious, Shake it Up, Wizards Of a Waverly Place ext. The shows back then were the bomb!

The Reader s Connection to Santiago
In Paulo Coelho s novel, The Alchemist, the main character is the thoughtful, adventurous boy named
Santiago, a poor Spanish shepard. The story starts when he reaches a fork in the road where he is
directed to his Personal Legend, seeking treasure at the Great Pyramids, . After many years of
wandering through the countryside with his faithful sheep, he chooses to walk away from this quiet
lifestyle. Santiago endures challenges, but he becomes a hero and grow wiser. As the reader follows
his story, they pull towards him and relates to him throughout moments in the book.
First, the reader pities and empathizes with Santiago as he suffers losses and adversities. After the
King of Salem motivates him to find his Personal Legend, he takes a boat to Africa where he is

the sun, I know the Soul of the World, because we have talked at great lengths to each other during
this endless trip though the universe (150). The sun and the wind is unable to turn him into wind and
cannot understand him. Though the winds know everything and nature knows (the sun) as the wisest
being in creation (152), Santiago is wiser than them. A moment when I felt clarity was when I realized
that adults did not always do the right thing. When the reader reads the book, they understand

Analysis Of Becoming The Boss By Linda Hill
Analysis of Becoming the Boss Linda Hill s article Becoming the Boss details several helpful and
important ideas for first time leaders and managers to consider. My first overview of the article

managers. Hill makes the statement throughout the article that the transition into becoming a leader or
new manager is often very traumatic and the failures of the new managers are not surprising. After a

the reader can use the stories as a learning guide for the transition into the managerial role. After

It is important for the subordinates to remember the individual taking on the new managerial role was
previously just in the subordinate s position. There are many aspects of the new role to learn and the
best help the new manager can receive is support from his or her subordinates. As a person new to a
managerial role, Hill s advice in the article on learning through everyday experience by making
mistakes is extremely reassuring. Within the article, Hill elaborates on the misconception that
managers wield significant authority (Hill, 2007, p.3). Once new managers have made it to the top, it
is important for them to realize they were just in their subordinates position. Hill (2007) quotes a new
manager stating, It s humbling that someone who works for me could get me fired (Hill, p.5). From
personal experience, in the beginning, my superior has warned me it will first and foremost be my
work that pushes me to the Hartness 3 top of the company. In addition to my individual work, it will
be the relationship I build with the people under me. Lacking an effective relationship with my
subordinates will take me back to the bottom of the company. Hill lists forging good individual
relationships as a misconception (Hill, 2007, p.7). Although team building is extremely important, I
would disagree with Hill s statements on team building being more important than individual
relationships (Hill,

  • 2. The Negative Effects Of Advertising And Its Effects On Women Picture this you re watching your favorite show and then all of a sudden this pops up IT WILL LITERALLY MAKE YOU SKINNY IN LITERALLY 2 HOURS! ONLY $19.99 AND IF YOU ORDER NOW YOU LL GET 2 FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!! I bet you can literally picture it and hear it perfectly but this is the problem with are advertising. Advertising is a big part of our culture but it s taken a toll on our people including the children. Advertising has effects on our people s bodies, self esteem, and is manipulative. First, advertisements have a toll on the people especially women and children. Women are affected by the fact that the models used must be so skinny and this makes woman self conscious. Parallels are frequently drawn between the decreasing size of the female body ideal and both escalating levels of women s body dissatisfaction and increases in the incidence of eating disorders There is now growing empirical support for the view that these images play a role in fueling women s body dissatisfaction. ( Halliwell and Dittmar 105 106) This shows that advertisements make woman feel self conscious and cause an unhealthy effect on the bodies of woman. Internalization of sociocultural attitudes toward thinness and appearance moderated the impact of advertising on women s body focused anxiety. (Halliwell and Dittmar 119). This further proves the point that advertisements cause effects to the body because anxiety can stress the body out which isn t healthy and can also cause you to be sick. ... • 3. Male Aged Four Years ( 48 Months ) Introduction The subject of this case study is a male aged four years (48 months). The setting is a voluntary aided faith nursery which follows a religious syllabus. It has children from a specific Islamic background. Within the nursery each child is assigned a key worker, who works with the child on a one to one basis and performs in partnership with parents or/carers to assist their child s learning and development. There are about 17 children to 6 adults. Child A (as he will be known) has no special educational needs, is an only child and English is his original dialect. Physical There was a specific observation of mention when Child A was in the indoor environment drawing/writing on the whiteboard. Child A represented an image of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently child A, through the scaffolding cycle, would be able to utilise his fine motor skills to do his zip up himself. Hence, child A s skills are developing through the process of scaffolding, as he will retain this information. Intellectual There was a specific observation of mention when Child A was in the computer corner playing a water themed counting game. When estimating the number of objects on the screen, he used his fingers to count the sea animals, 1, 2,3,4,5, 6 animals and looked at me for confirmation asking, is it 6? . This shows that Child A is developing within the usual ranges of development, Estimates how many objects they can see and checks by counting them , (Development Matters in the EYFS, 2012, p.34). Piaget believes children learn best by doing and that they must be additionally active in their own understanding. He also believes that knowledge must be assembled and reassembled by the child. Subsequently Child A, within the stages of schema, would experience a new notion of dealing with numbers. The existing schema does not work as child A has no prior knowledge on counting sea animals. Thus disequilibrium arises until Child A is able to assimilate and accommodate the contemporary knowledge and attain equilibrium. Hence, Child A uses his fingers to count aloud and signify each finger with a specific number. For future recommendation, I would have Child A complete sums where he can count the objects in two ... • 4. The Mediation For Interstate Water Disputes III. ANALYSIS States should utilize mediation to resolve interstate water disputes. Mediation is a viable dispute resolution process for water disputes because it can address states underlying interests, and can fit within the existing legal framework. Mediation is also an adaptable process, which states can adapt to their needs and interests. Not only should states attempt to adopt this process, but courts and special masters should also push states towards mediation as an alternative to litigation for dispute resolution. This section proceeds in three parts. The first part discusses the advantages of mediation as a dispute resolution process. The second part discusses how states should structure mediation for interstate water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1. Time Mediation will provide a quicker and more efficient process than litigation. Water disputes can last for decades. For example, the Tri State dispute began in the early 1980s, but continues to this day. Water lawsuits, before the Supreme Court, also proceed slowly with years spent on discovery and determining whether a violation of a compact has occurred. Mediation can resolve disputes at a more reasonable pace. But, mediation can also be slow itself with one water mediation lasting over six years with no progress. Therefore, it is crucial that both mediators and states focus on creating deadlines for themselves and ensuring mediation proceeds without delay. In general, mediation will produce faster outcomes for states. 2. Cost States will save significant taxpayers dollars by choosing mediation over litigation. States that have chosen to pursue mediation have cited the massive expenses involved in litigation as one of their primary reasons for doing so. For example, in the Tri State dispute, Georgia allocated over twenty million dollars to fund its ongoing litigation with Florida and Alabama. Due to both the process and the reduced time frame, mediation should serve to reduce costs for states. However, mediation will also have associated costs. For example, costs for experts and data collection may be significant. Nevertheless, mediation is likely to be less expensive compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Review of the BBC History Website The BBC History website is very eclectic, covering an immense range of history and as a resource, it could be suggested that it is a victim of trying to appeal all levels of historical interest from the academic to the mildly interested. It has been variously described as relevant and fascinating , a useful research tool , catering to the non specialist whilst including valuable material for the historical researcher . As a site there is an obvious preference given to any historical programming by the BBC be it television or radio and such programming is also available through the iPlayer facility. The final box gives access to the interactive part of the website. From this overview of the home page of the site it is possible to see that the BBC is attempting to appeal to a wide audience but it is also keeping its emphasis on its home market; the majority of the topics covered are related to British history and those that are more global still have a British reference within them. To critically evaluate the site, it is essential to bear in mind that the BBC will try, as far as possible, to take a unbiased view; if a programme is a general history of a period, such as Andrew Marr s The Making of Modern Britain , then the BBC always attributes ownership of the opinion and interpretation to the presenter or writer. The statement The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites would suggest that they are responsible for their internal sites but who decides on the site content is not so clear. The home page of BBC History leads to a vast network of topics and other sites. To critically evaluate the whole site would, perhaps, diminish some of what it is trying to achieve, accessibility of history to all. The sub section British History in depth covers a large tract of British History from the 1066 to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Comparing Virginia And Virginia Colonies After King James I came to the throne, he perceived that New World could be a place where British could make a profitable settlement as New Spain was for Spaniards. Hence, many colonies began to develop their colonization in New World. Out of thirteen colonies, Virginia and Massachusetts remained most remarkable colonies in American history. The early settlements of the Virginia and Massachusetts were both established by groups of people from England at the same time of period; however, their dissimilar beginnings as colonies, motivations to being adventurers , view on religion and ideology, and means of economic stability created two singular politics and economic systems. The root of both colonies might be the same but Virginia colonies and Massachusetts colonies became two different individual colonies by the end of their independence from England. The basic concept of being adventurer for Virginia colonies were an obtain a charter for London Company. Under King James I s order, young and ambitious noblemen who believed that they would immediately find gold and bring fortune on the way back to their home country. However, the reality was much harsher and brutal than they imagined. He was born in Medellin, Castile, Spain in 1485 to parents Martín Cortés de Monroy and Catalina Pizarro Altamirano. He was born into a wealthy and famous family. In 1501, Cortes came back to Medellin at the age of sixteen. He did not want to become a lawyer. Cortes truly wanted to be an explorer, after hearing the tales of Christopher Columbus. • 8. What Is The Theme Of The Country Husband By John Cheever 1. Introduction Literary scholars and critics have often commented upon the structural complexity of John Cheever s short story The Country Husband . For example, George W. Hunt argues that it is a long story, so rich in accident and in emotional colorations that it reads more like a novella (273). Often cited is also Vladimir Nabokov s expression that the story under discussion is [a] miniature novel (qtd. in Dessner 58). Hence, it is quite safe to assert that the body of this work of literature is rich in imagery, various motifs and symbols. The war imagery is just the one of the most discussed issues (e.g., Hipkiss 577 579). According to Lawrence Jay Dessner, [n]ot a page in The Country Husband is without at least one explicit ... In January 1956 The Country Husband won the O.Henry Award for the best story of 1955 (Donaldson 147). There are approximately twenty six suburban stories, and all, unlike the urban or expatriate stories, are outstanding. Though the six stories mentioned [ The Country Husband , The Swimmer , The Death of Justina , The Brigadier and Golf Widow , The Housebreaker of Shady Hill and O Youth and Beauty! ] constitute an estimable touchstone, the others are deemed the lesser only by comparative standards (Hunt 248). • 9. Character Analysis Of Watchmen And Jimmy Corrig The... The superhero archetype is traditionally a staple of the comic book medium. The Golden Age of comics, a period of comic publishing between the 1930s and early 1950s, was rife with larger than life super human figures, who often served as an escape from the anxieties produced by war and everyday life. Superheroes like Superman, Batman, and Captain America function as cultural representations of idealism and the American Dream. However, representations of heroism in comic books has shifted significantly since the bright eyed idealism and Romanticism of the Golden Age. In the Modern Age of comic publishing, contemporary comics tend to appropriate, adapt, and deconstruct tropes from the Golden and Silver Age of comics. Ultimately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The text is wrought with nihilism, cynicism, and multiple characters who are affected by the power of the abyss. The Comedian s big joke is that there is no point to anything, and he does not really care. It is not a particularly funny joke , but it ultimately speaks to the motif of nihilism within the comic. This sensation of nihilism is aligned with the corruption of the American Hero archetype. It is impossible to ignore the fact that the novel is constructed around a sort of alternative future/past, an alternate universe that functions within a political climate which exacerbates the tensions between America and other nations, as well as internally. There is a sort of anti Romanticism about this text that renders the characters more human, despite the fact that they are supposed to be the hero figures. The inclusion of Hollis Mason s Under The Hood, excerpts from a fictional extra textual element of the story prove that chronicle the first wave of vigilante heroes, reveals that even the initial Minutemen began to realize to what extent they were only people, especially when their roles as heroes are trumped by the advent of the superhero, new powerful entities that alter the course of history. Power is a force that governs everything in life, and out of the many forms of power, anger is one form often dismissed. Anger is a type of power generated from the feeling of inequality aimed at balancing out an uneven scale the victim feels. For a long time in history, women have been unequally treated, discriminated against, and subdued in spite of their attempt to change the gender inequality they experience. Their actions are being characterized as having temper tantrums, excessive rage and often times, mental instability. The anger in women, fueled by gender inequality, is a display of their power. This so called war on drugs is a deeply rooted campaign of prohibition and unfair sentencing that is very controversial and has been debated for many years. The war on drugs is designed so that it will never end. This current drug was has very little impact on the overall supply of prohibited drugs and its impact on demand seems non existent. United States taxpayers are spending billions of dollars on this failure of policy. They are spending billions to incarcerate drug users instead offering drug treatment which could help lower demand. Legalizing illicit would lower abuse and deaths from use and could have a positive economic impact on the United States. Certain industries are making massive sums of money by capitalizing on the drug war. Currently, many prisons are beginning to be run by private corporations. • 15. A Study Of Historical And Literary Context Aside from discovering a text through the study of historical and literary context, it also requires a careful grammatical analysis of the passage under consideration (Black 72). Grammatical analysis is the separation of a subject to its parts or elements. Therefore, for one to effectively pull out the contextual meaning of a text, they must understand the text; and to effectively pull out the original meaning of a particular text, one must correctly exegete the text. In particular, when gaining an understanding of a text through the process of exegesis, one must use textual analysis, lexical analysis, syntactical analysis, and structural analysis (Black 73 79). All of which contribute to the importance of text interpretation. When the interpreter discovers alternative wording within the Bible, textual analysis comes into play (Black 73). Defined as an attempt to determine the original wording of a document , textual analysis is essential for determining the wording within individual verses (Black 73). During the process of textual analysis, the breaking down of a text to each individual word that points to the original meaning of a text occurs. In conclusion, it links meanings together to form one thought; this leads to lexical analysis. The attempt to determine the meaning of the words within the text is known as lexical analysis (Black 73). The fundamental concern of lexical analysis is a word study (Black 73). Analysis Of Becoming The Boss By Linda Hill Analysis of Becoming the Boss Linda Hill s article Becoming the Boss details several helpful and important ideas for first time leaders and managers to consider. My first overview of the article included thoughts that the article had a somewhat discouraging and negative outlook on new managers. Hill lists forging good individual relationships as a misconception (Hill, 2007, p.7). Although team building is extremely important, I would disagree with Hill s statements on team building being more important than individual relationships (Hill, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
