The Pros And Cons Of Bioterrorism
Bioterrorism is the deliberate release of viruses, bacteria, toxins or other harmful agents to cause
illness or death in people, livestock, or crops. These agents are typically found in nature, but could be
mutated or altered to increase their ability to cause disease, make them resistant to current medicines,
or to increase their ability to be spread into the environment. Bacillus anthracis is one of the most
popular agents to be used in a bioterrorism attack. Anthrax could be used in many forms, for example,
it can be placed into letters and mailed, much like the 2001 anthrax attack, anthrax can be released
into the air where the spores can be easily blown by the wind and inhaled or can be carried around on
objects such as people s clothes to which it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by gram positive, rod shaped bacteria known as Bacillus
anthracis. Anthrax can be transmitted via airborne methods such as bioterrorism, where it is used as a
weapon and released into the air to cause infection, or by breathing in anthrax spores from infected
animal products such as wool. Humans can also become infected by direct contact, from handling
infected animal products, or by vehicular transmission from eating undercooked meat from infected
animals causing gastrointestinal anthrax. Anthrax is not passed from one person to another. (Arthur
Schoenstadt, 2017).
The virulence factors of anthrax are encoded on two large pathogenicity related plasmids. The
virulence factors of anthrax are the capsule and endotoxin production (Fasanella, 2013). The capsule
of the bacterium aids in attachment to the host and prevents phagocytosis by the host immune system.
Once the anthrax spores are lodged into the skin or lungs, the bacteria rapidly begin growth, producing
a deadly tripartite endotoxin which affects cell metabolism. This toxin is composed of three proteins
which are the Protective Antigen (PA), the Edema Factor (EF) and the Lethal Factor

Paul Janeczko s Narrative Style
Narrative and expository are writing styles used to present ideas to a reader. Narrative uses story
elements while expository focuses on central ideas and supporting details. The Dark Game by Paul
Janeczko and The Code Book by Simon Singh both explore aspects of espionage and the importance
of code, but their organization, tone, and style are quite different.
In The Dark Game, Janeczko presents factual information in a story like way that is entertaining to the
reader. The text is written in a narrative style with vivid descriptions and conversational elements. The
details and events are depicted in chronological order. Janeczko uses show instead of tell to display
information and is focused on the stories of spies in different times. By telling

Symbolism In A White Heron
Sarah Orne Jewett was born in 1849, her writings began in her early teens as she got inspired by her
surroundings. In A White Heron a young girl reaches a conflict of her view personally through nature
contradicted to the young men that soon will be introduced to her. Young Sylvia moves in with her
grandmother and is learning the ways of the woods rather than the city. Many mythical significances
occur through the tree, the hunter, the cow, and the heron to create the elements of different literary
ways. The story begins as young Sylvia is interrupted by a hunter who is looking for a new bird for his
collection. As he follows her, he makes home at her grandmother s house where he makes himself at
home. As he begins to discuss the reward for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first mythical significance is the tree that she climbs to get to the height of the birds. As she sits at
the top of the tree she becomes the heron herself and breaks free from everything go on down below.
The feeling of being high in the tree tops gives her the motivation she needs to make the decision in
whether to choose the hunter or the heron. The second mythical significance is the hunter that comes
into the woods to find the white heron to add to his collection. The hunter stands for the human
companionship that she wishes to have. Another way to think of the hunter is to think about the
intrusion of civilization into the farm country in the area. In the end, she chooses natures
companionship over the hunters. The third mythical significance is the cow that she describes at the
beginning of the story being just like herself. The cow and her journey is described by how they are
one with one another. The final and most important mythical significance is the heron itself in which
can be seen through the bird, but also through Sylvia. The bird mainly stands for companionship of the

Chinese Farmers Discovered The Terracotta Warrior
In 1974, local Chinese farmers discovered the Terracotta Warrior life sized clay sculptures. The
weather was dry in 1974, and the grain was dying in the fields of Lintong County, Shaanxi Province,
near Xian, China and some local farmers were trying to establish a new water well by digging at a low
point in the terrain. Whilst digging they encountered the first evidence of the Terracotta Warriors. One
of the local farmers Yang Zhifa quoted on the discovery At first the digging went well. The second day
we hit hard red earth. The third day, my hoe dug out the neck of a terracotta statue without a head, but
the opening at the bottom was about size of a bowl, . It wasn t until months later when archaeologists
were informed, arrived and realized that the farmers had stumbled upon an astonishing find in the
form of a large scale Terracotta Warriors dig. They dated the construction around 246 206 BC during
the Qin Dynasty. It was during the reign of the first Emperor of a unified Imperial China Qin Shi
Huang Di. According to Ancient Chinese linguist the words Shi Huang translate as First Emperor so
this individual was also known as the first Emperor of the Qin Dynasty. Chinese civilization has its
origins in Shaanxi and Henan Provinces where the Huang He, or Yellow River, winds its way through
its fertile valleys with the old Qin capital city Xian Yang just 40km East of discovery site. Based on
these historical and geographical evidences the Terracotta Warriors could now

Cecily Faenza Research Paper
Cecily Faenza grew up in Old Lyme, Connecticut and when it was time to choose a college, she knew
she wanted a big division one school with an emphasis on athletics. The obvious choice as a
Connecticut native was of course UConn. Faenza studied communications while minoring in
psychology. Faenza currently works for the New England Patriots as the social media coordinator
where she handles all day to day postings across all social media platforms associated with the
organization. When Faenza started out as a student didn t even know she wanted to work in the sports
industry. Faenza began her career at UConn as an education major and fell into communications.
Faenza also stated she really didn t even know that sports management was an actual major. Back
when she was starting college Faenza said she was not aware that you could in fact work in sport. It
wasn t until her junior and senior year that she realized that it was possible to have a career in sport.
One of Faenza s favorite memories as a student as UConn was illegally pitching a tent in the business
school bushes to be one of the first students in line for a UConn Villanova game at Gampel. As
graduation approached Faenza realized she didn t have any connections to get the job she wanted and

Do You Agree with Conflict Theory
Have you ever noticed a divide in society between the privileged and who s who are not? Such as
someone who is rich versus someone who is poor. This is what we call Conflict theory. How conflict
theory is applied to our everyday lives can be seen through many different ideas brought about by
these conflict theorists. Whether or not I agree or disagree with this theory, will be determined by the
factors and situations that conflict theory has to show. Karl Marx, a philosopher, journalist, and
revolutionary socialist, is considered the father of conflict theory. He pointed out the continuous
competition for power between different classes in society and how the powerful groups exploit those

their influence in the making of social decisions, and their ability to impose values, will also be greater
than those of the lower classes (McShane, Williams 129 130). If you are on the bottom and you don t
like something that is going on with people in power, you could have a revolution or stage a riot.
Anytime you are dealing with the situation where people are fighting over the use of land or who s
going to have what status or privilege, we are then seeing things through the eyes of a conflict theorist.
Money is a big part of this. Being a member of an aristocracy or a powerful group is part of this. So in
addition, we also see minority groups in conflict with the dominant groups. We see exploitation and
domestic violence between men and women and sometimes children. There are numerous perspectives
of conflict theory on the law. Most of the conflict theorists talk about the law as a way of maintain
inequality. That the law is there to advance the interests of people in power, usually people with
money. There are also conflict theories that argue about morality or moral entrepreneurs, people that
use the criminal law to impose their morality on other people despite the fact that it is not widely held
belief and an example would be things like prostitution or other vices that are widely utilized by large
segments of the population, but there are smaller segments

Postmodernism And The Future Of Literature
Postmodernism and the Future of Literature
During the 19th and early 20th, Western world experienced numerous historical events and influential
changes, including the Word Wars and technological revolutions. These phenomenons affected the
society at large, including in the aspect of art and literature. Literary historians often classified
literature from late 19th century until the end of World War II as modernism and literature after World
War II as postmodernism. Although there are no explicit definitions, common traits can often be found
that distinguished these two categories. In this paper, I will be examining modernism and
postmodernism literature, as well as whether postmodernism still continue until now, focusing on Italo
Calvino s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Postmodernism artists enjoyed experimenting on literary techniques, such as metanarrative and lack of
character developments, which received mixed response in literature world.
One of the most notable works in postmodernism era is Calvino s If On A Winter s Night A Traveler.
Just like many postmodern works, If On A Winter s Night A Traveler is a metafiction, using second
person narrative form to further emphasis its self consciousness. Calvino indicated his intention by
starting his book with the sentence You are about to begin reading Italo Calvino s If On A Winter s
Night Traveler (1), addressing the main character of the book as You or the Reader . In addition, the
book is high fragmented, another trait commonly found in postmodernism works. The book is divided
into 22 parts, each in the form of double chapters, alternating between numbered chapters telling story
of the character You , and unnumbered chapters containing the first chapter of 10 separate stories.
With the concept of beginning a whole new story on each unnumbered chapters, Calvino was able to
explore a wide range of genres, spanning from mystery to romance, in a single book. The
discontinuity of the chapters result in absence of clear image of characters in each stories. Even the
main story from the numbered chapters, Calvino used the advantage of having You as the main

was awoken in the middle of the night to the sounds of frantic screams and the intense smell of smoke.

The Negative Differences Of A Centralized Government In...
The Texas government reflects a negative attitude towards having centralized governments. A
centralized government is when the power of the government belongs to very few people and is not
dispersed among a larger group. That could include things like monarchies and dictatorships where
there only a single authority. Centralized governments is exactly the opposite of what Texas displays.
Texas is an example of a decentralized government where the power is dispersed amongst a group of
multiple people. There is no single authority in a Texas government because it includes many people
with power like attorney generals, governor, senators and representatives. What really makes Texas
decentralized is the citizens having the ability to choose whoever they want to have power in the
Texas government. A city council is considered the body in cities that have corporate status and also
have a local government. Their responsibility is to create laws which affect all of the residents that live
in the certain city which they work in. Every city has a different number of city council members and
the type of district that they are responsible for representing varies from city to city. In some cities the
council member is elected by the whole city in a similar method to the way that a mayor is elected.
Another way of electing city council members is by electing them to represent certain parts rather than
the whole entire city being represented by just one member. The final way is by a

Stakeholder Response For Waiting For Superman
Stakeholder Response to Waiting for Superman Stake Holder Group When the word school is
mentioned, often, we first think about students and teachers. These two groups roughly describe the
educational system. This assignment will focus on teachers as stakeholders in public school districts.
Demographic Description In the year of 2011, there were 3.2 million teachers who were employed at
public schools throughout the nation, which served close to 50 million children in grades kindergarten
through twelfth (Feistritzer, 2011). Currently, to be employed as a teacher in the United States, one
must obtain a Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university, and be certificated in the
state that one wishes to be employed. The certification serves as a teaching credential, which is needed
for teachers in all states. America has encountered a change within the teaching profession:
concerning, experience, age, credentials, and ethnic background (Feistritzer, 2011). It is almost as if
the year of 2005, overturned the trend of older employed teachers (Feistritzer, 2011). A six year survey
shows that the amount of teachers under the age of thirty has increased drastically, and that most
teachers have earned master degrees. Also, although teaching has been a predominately white
profession, more Hispanic and African American teachers were hired between the years of 2005 and
2011 (Feistritzer, 2011). Role in Education Teachers have many roles within the education system.

A Character Analysis Of Randle Patrick Mcmurphy
Randle Patrick McMurphy is shown to be a flawed character because of his huge ego, making him a
lecherous gambler high on his own arrogance, and his desire and hunger for power and control. He
thinks he can win any gamble, including a gamble on his life. The stakes are that he bets the men that
he can break Nurse Ratched without letting her get the best of him. Even when he enters the ward,
McMurphy has that kind of swagger kind of walk and he laughs, something that has not been done by
any of the patients on the ward. He is full of brass and swagger and full of assurance and arrogance
with his hanging thumbs in the belt loop of his pants, his heavily scarred skin, his many tattoos, and
his fresh scar on the bridge of his nose (95). After being sent to Disturbed, McMurphy was confronted
with the decision to admit he was wrong and avoid electroshock therapy, to which he responded to the
nurse saying, Those Chinese Commies could have learned a few things from you, lady. Due to this
high arrogance in his confidence, McMurphy received electroshock therapy along with three other
treatments that same very week. This all led up to the major consequence of lobotomy, in which
McMurphy was essentially made a vegetable, to be nothing more than a cautionary tale on Nurse
Ratched s ward.
This powerful and confident character challenges the power of Ratched over the patients in the ward
only to defy her law on the ward. The idea that nothing is gained by McMurphy s rebellion is

Argumentative Essay About Marijuana
Before I can tell you about the recent news about Marijuana, and its huge debacle in the United States
today. First let me give you the history of this infamous plant. According to a Frontline article about
the history of marijuana in the United States, it was introduced to the United States as far back as the
1600 s. American production of hemp was encouraged by the government in the 17th century for the
use of rope, sails, and clothing. It wasn t something that was known to be used as recreational until the
early 1900 s, when Mexican immigrants introduced its alternate uses. The Great Depression of the
1930 s hit and that s when the fear of marijuana set in because of massive unemployment, it increased
public resentment and fear of Mexican immigrants, escalating public and governmental concern about
the problem of marijuana. This caused a wave of research to be completed, which linked the use of
marijuana with violence, crime and other socially deviant behaviors, primarily committed by racially
inferior or underclass communities. By 1931, 29 states had outlawed marijuana. Fast forward to 2017,
86 years since it was first introduced as the root of all things evil, it is now filling, and flying off the
shelves of several states. In the article from USA Today, marijuana is available for medicinal uses in
20 states and the District of Columbia. Of those states, Washington and Colorado have legalized
marijuana for recreational use. Colorado s first retail marijuana stores

our personal competence or effectiveness... which means it varies, depending on the subject or task (p.

comes to writing skills or other school subjects. Her attitude can be based on previous negative
experiences or the low self efficacy in a specific task, in her situation is writing. However, she does

to the social cognitive theory, there is evidence that a higher sense of self efficacy supports motivation,
even when the efficacy is an overestimation (Woolfolk, 2013, p. 408). Therefore, if we increase Annie

Analysis Of The Poem Eve
Eve! Evaline! Where are you? Your mother is calling to you, and you are giggling as your chubby
little hand is held over your mouth. You glance over to your left and then your right, behind the large
willow tree. You are only five, but you know your mother has a smile on her lips. You have never
traveled far from her, but when you do, its to play this game with her. Hide and seek. You are always
hiding, hoping to be found and swept up into your mother s arms. It is when you are looking over your
left side, that the arms do sweep up and hold you close to her heart. You squeal in delight, arms
moving around your mother s neck and you buried your face into her neck, smelling her honeysuckle
and lilac perfume.
Her golden hair is like the sun, and her eyes are gray glittering stars. You do not look anything like
your mother, but you have overhear her talking about that no good rotting father that just left you and
your mother and how much you remind her of him. Perhaps that is why you will always be weary
around the men in your life. The good, the bad, and the ugly ones, are always approached with a level
of hesitation even if you know them for a long time. But it is how you will always be with new people
hesitant but then friendly. Or at least you will try to be. Your mother instills in your from a young age
that you need to be kind to others, and you do your best to do so. It didn t always come out as such,

Derivative Is A Complex Subject Of Calculus
Derivative is a complex subject of calculus. In calculus, derivative is a key term developed by both
Newton and Leibniz. With function f (t), the first derivative is defined asf^ (t)= df/dt= lim┬(h→0)⁡
〖(f(t) f(t h))/h〗. There is also a second derivative known as second order derivative. The second
order derivative is defined: f^ (t)= (d^2 f)/(dt^2 )= lim┬(h→0)⁡
〖(f^ (t) f^ (t h))/h〗
=lim┬(h→0)⁡
〖1/h {(f(t) f(t h))/h (f(t h) f(t 2h))/h}〗
=lim┬(h→0)⁡
〖(f(t) 2f(t h)+f(t 2h))/h^2 〗
(Podlubny, 1998). The general idea of derivative has been for several times as the topic has been

However, early mathematicians solved these questions with what later became known as derivative.
Derivative has developed or created the ideas of extrema, tangent, and limit (Anderson, Katz, and
Wilson, 2004). Derivative contributed towards the mathematical world from an early stage to the
development of other rules. Derivative was mentioned early in the 1660 s to develop new methods and
rules. Many of the methods known today and that have been developed over the years all derived
because of the use of derivative. Derivative supports the evidence of many proofs such as extreme,
tangent, and limit. Newton and Leibniz both saw derivative in a different way. Newton and Leibniz
both created calculus separately, as in Newton and Leibniz were not working together for the creation
of calculus. They both created or invented calculus by the development of derivative. For example, in
the first step of creating calculus, Newton and Leibniz took the idea and concepts of derivative and
integral. The general concepts of derivative and integral came from the methods for finding tangents,

Tomb Of Romeo And Juliet
I think Romeo and Juliet and the tomb are based on truth. The story of Romeo and Juliet is much older
than when Shakespeare wrote the story we know today as Romeo and Juliet, it was not a coincidence
that Romeo and Juliet and the tomb go together, and the tomb was made for the Capulets. Since
Shakespeare did not write the story of Romeo and Juliet, the story could be much older. Since the
story could be much older the tomb could be much older. No one knows the date of the tomb that was
made previously because the tomb was recreated into the form we know today. It is not a coincidence
the play and the tomb are together. People always like to see historic places or figures of something
they find interesting, in this case it would be the Tomb

Ackland Art Museum Essay
The Ackland Art Museum s new exhibition takes visitors through an experience that simulates the
chaos, fear and disorientation of war. The Flash of Light, Fog of War: Japanese Military Prints, 1894
1905 comprises over 240 prints. The woodblock prints depict images of the First Sino Japanese War
and the Russo Japanese War. The exhibition opened on Oct. 6 and will be available for viewing until
Jan. 7. They were recently given to the Ackland as a gift, and this exhibition basically shows that
collection, American studies doctoral candidate Trista Reisporter said at the Ackland to a group of
media writing students Tuesday afternoon. The exhibition is focused on the visual effects and the war
technologies that appear in the prints, Reisporter said. These visual effects include: moonlight,
searchlight, smoke, fog and pyrotechnics. Several war technologies are depicted in these prints.
Electric searchlights, steel warships and long range ammunition, are a few of the war inventions
shown in the prints. These inventions were new during the Russo Japanese War and the First Sino

The first piece in the exhibition is Okura Koto s The Great Naval Battle outside the Harbor of Port
Arthur: The Great Victory of Our Forces on the Early Dawn of March 10, 1904 . The print is
comprised of 6 pages and depicts a naval battle between Japanese and Russian forces in the Russo
Japanese War. We start with this one, said Reisporter, because it brings a lot of these ideas and these
visual aesthetics together. Two other techniques were used in creating the print: gofun and bokashi.
Bokashi is the gradient effect created by the ink during printing, and gofun is a pigment made of
calcified oyster shells used to create snow or fog, Reisporter said. Gofun was used to create the
snowflakes, and the bokashi was used to create the moonlight and smoke in Koto s

Case Study On Strokes
Introduction
A Stroke also called brain attack, occurs when a clot block the blood supply going to the brain or there
is a hemorrhage in it. Nerves in the brain requires a continuous supply of blood, oxygen and glucose
to function properly. If there is impairment of this supply then the brain may stop functioning
temporarily and if this impairment is severe enough then permanent brain damage could occur. As the
brain control the body, so the patient could experience symptoms depending upon which part of the
brain is affected or damaged. (Lawrence M. Brass, 1992)
Stroke causes the death of 130,000 Americans each year and is considered the Fifth leading cause of
death in the United States. (CDC, 2015).87% of the strokes are Ischemic Strokes. ... Show more

It is often caused by high blood pressure. (American Heart association, 2015). SAH affects every 2 to
16 per 10,000 persons yearly. The actual occurrence of SAH is higher because approximately 15% of
patients with SAH die before being admitted into the hospital. SAH can occur at any age, but the
incidence increases with age, commonly affect patients age 50 years or older. This type of stroke is
1.24 times more common in women than in men. (American Stroke Association,

Gallipoli
Gallipoli is the remarkable story of two Western Australian mates who are sent to Gallipoli in 1915.
Frank and Archie are both very successful sprinters and Archie wants adventure, while Frank wants to
stay in Australia, but signs up for the inventory anyway.
This story brings back some harsh truths about warfare, and explains why so many naïve young men
joined up, only to suffer deaths well before their time.
The troops were headed for the Gallipoli peninsula and the Dardanelles Strait, in southern Turkey, to
attempt to take the peninsula. The war was between the Allies (mainly Britain, US, France, Russia,
Italy, Japan, and Australia) and the Central Powers (mainly Germany, Austria Hungary and Turkey)

Archie felt that the war was Australia s responsibility too because, as he said, If we don t stop them
there, they ll end up here . Archie said he would feel ashamed of himself if he didn t fight, even
though he was underage, because he was a good athlete, and that s what the army needs . He also felt
it was Australia s war because Australia does everything hand in hand with Britain. Frank felt that a
war on the other side of the world had nothing to do with Australia, and he did not respect any snobby
British authority.
Probably the actual realisation of what they were getting themselves into was when Frank and Archie
were standing on a hill at sunset; listen to the anguished sounds of battle. Even more horrifying for
Frank was witnessing Snowy on his deathbed naïvely saying, I wonder why they aren t giving me any
food or drink?
When the Anzacs were in Egypt, they thought that the Gypos were a bunch of thieves. The lecture one
of the officers gave before the start of the exercises in Cairo probably didn t do much for respect
towards the Egyptians.
I thought that it was amusing to see the state rivalry during the football game, as it is so reflective of
what still happens today in modern day Australia.
Perhaps the most awful thing that I found about the movie was that the commanders knew that they
were wasting so many young lives, but

Character Analysis Of Holden Caulfield
In J. D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, the character of Holden Caulfield does not convincingly
embody a compassionate and caring character. Holden, after having a difficult year at school, finds
comfort in his memories of his brother Allie. Another instance of Holden finding comfort, is when he
spends time with Phoebe. In the same way, Phoebe is supportive when spending time with Holden.
However, this takes a turn for the worse, as Holden reveals to Phoebe that he is leaving. Holden finds
comfort and love through his memories of Allie, his experiences with Phoebe and the support from he
receives from her. Holden begins to reminisce about his interactions with his deceased brother, Allie
as he feels lost, and does not know what to do. Holden, having difficulty describing a room or house
for Stradlater s composition, he decides to write about his brother Allie s baseball mitt, that had poems
written a over the glove for Allie to read when he was in the field (Salinger 38). Holden begins to
remember how Allie was very intelligent, how everyone liked him, and he even started describing his
features (Salinger 38). Holden shows compassion and love towards his brother Allie when he begins
to tell the reader, I slept in the garage the night he died, and I broke all the goddam windows with my
fist, just for the hell of it. I even tried to break all the windows on the station wagon we had that
summer, but my hands was already broken and everything by that time, and I couldn t

The History Of Québécois In Québec
Enriched with its unique history, Québec is a beautiful province diverse in its landscape, heritage and
flavorful dishes. Québec is a perfect destination for those who love to witness incredible examples of
God s creation in nature, visit ancient historical landmarks or try flavorful dishes. One day I hope to
walk along the bridge spanning les chutes Montmorency, a waterfall higher than Niagara Falls.
Nearly five hundred years ago, Jacque Cariter set sail on an expedition for King Louis I to find Asai.
Instead of reaching his intended destination, he discovered what would become French Canada.
However it was Samuel de Champlian, one hundred years later, to truly claim the land for France and
to establish a permanent capitol of New France, Québec city. It remained so for a century and a half,
expanding in agriculture, population, and territory and establishing a french colonial administration.
However during the Seven Year War France was forced to sign the Treaty of Paris with England after
General Wolfe conquered Québec. Therefore, Canada transferred from a province of France to a
colonial of Britain. Canada eventually divided into upper and lower colonies, Ontario and Québec.

Lao-Tzu And Machiavelli Analysis
Lao Tzu wrote the Tao Te Ching back in sixth century B.C.E as he was exiling himself to a life of
contemplation. Before he left, the gatekeeper convinced him to write down his philosophical thoughts.
Machiavelli was an elite who lived in Florence during the late 1400s and the early 1500s. He wrote his
instructions, The Prince, during the instability of power within Italy after he was wrongly imprisoned.
Both texts give advice on the ways in which to rule a country, but because of the times in which they
were written, they promote separate ideas on the role of a leader, the view of humanity, and the way
their information should be presented.
The Master introduced by Lao Tzu and The Prince introduced by Machiavelli are two well renowned
embodiments of the perfect leader. A leader, according to Lao Tzu, silently leads his people by
allowing them to act and think for themselves. He even states, let go of fixed plans and concepts, and
the world will govern itself. The system of government, to him, seems to be a democracy, reaching
towards an anarchy. The Master embraces a role of quiet anonymity within society as Lao Tzu
believes, when the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. If that is not achieved,
then the next best thing is being loved, followed by being feared. On the other end of the spectrum,
Machiavelli believes in a dictatorship form of government. The Prince must have complete and utter
control over his citizens. Whereas Lao Tzu thought that a leader should be in the background,
Machiavelli believes in a leader that is feared above all. He states, ... he should maintain himself in
such a way that no man could imagine that he can deceive or cheat him. Power is the goal of the
Prince, in contrast to the enlightening of humanity that the Master promotes.
Human nature, to both Machiavelli and Lao Tzu, is the foundation for all of a leader s decisions. They
differ, however, on how humans inherently are. Lao Tzu holds the opinion that people will do the right
thing when rules and guidelines aren t present in society. Lao Tzu states, throw away morality and
justice, and people will do the right thing. A leader, to him, shouldn t focus on creating societal
standards, because people

Being a Mortician
Being a Mortician
The word mortician brings what images to mind? The career of a mortician is surprisingly different
than it is portraied in movies and books.
Being a mortician is a very rewarding job both personal as well as psychological to those with the
temperament, training and discipline required to do the job properly. In this paper I ll be reporting the
requirements to become a mortician, also called funeral director or undertaker, the duties the job
requires of you, and the outlook of this career in the future of the United
States.
To become a funeral director in the United States today isn t an easy task. You need to be twenty one,

If the body is disfigured in any way you may be required to do some restorative procedures on the
body, using materials such as clay, cotton, plaster of Paris and wax
(Lamers 535). You would be required to fill in any open wounds left on the body by law, but would
use a picture of the deceased and try to make them appear as life like as possible for the showing
(Shipley 201). Most important, however, are the tasks in which you guide, counsel and become
involved in the needs of the bereaved and the sensitive, effective manner in which you handle their
personal grief (IRN 6). When the body has been embalmed and taken care of you need to help the
family choose a casket from the display room the they wish there loved one be laid in(Shipley 178).
On the actual day of the funeral service, you attend to the many, many ceremonial, logistical, and
administrative details which are required to make sure that the funeral service goes smoothly and in
strict accord with the wishes of the family or other survivors (Lamers
541). You should be prepared to suggest and arrange any type of funeral service, sacred or secular, that
will best meet the needs of the bereaved. Creative, alternative ceremonies in keeping with the
deceased s lifestyle can have special significance and meaning to the family. For example, close
friends and relatives may be asked to participate in the service, or special

Autobiography Of A Face And Pleasantville Essay
The discovery of oneself is a very prominent theme throughout the stories of Pleasantville and
Autobiography of a Face. It s not just the word self in these pieces of literature it s more like discovery
and how the characters in these pieces find themselves as they thought they were and in new ways. It s
about facing difficulty and challenge to see what lies ahead on the other side of the wall we call
adversity. Looking at the movie Pleasantville the theme of self occurs constantly. In the beginning, in
their normal world, Bud and his sister are both just trying to fit into whatever crowd they can. They
are portraying themselves as someone they aren t. When they get stuck in the realm of Pleasantville
their journey of discovery begins. Their isn t a group of bad kids for Bud s sister to be around and
pretend to be. She starts teaching everyone how to do all these bad things and later on in the movie
realises that s not what she wants. She discovers reading and she actually likes it and being around all
of the good people of Pleasantville she gains insight to who she really is and wants to be. For the rest
of the people in Pleasantville it s very similar. When everyone starts changing color it means that
those people are finding their real path. Bud was one of the last ones to change and he couldn t figure

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Bioterrorism Bioterrorism is the deliberate release of viruses, bacteria, toxins or other harmful agents to cause illness or death in people, livestock, or crops. These agents are typically found in nature, but could be mutated or altered to increase their ability to cause disease, make them resistant to current medicines, or to increase their ability to be spread into the environment. Bacillus anthracis is one of the most popular agents to be used in a bioterrorism attack. Anthrax could be used in many forms, for example, it can be placed into letters and mailed, much like the 2001 anthrax attack, anthrax can be released into the air where the spores can be easily blown by the wind and inhaled or can be carried around on objects such as people s clothes to which it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by gram positive, rod shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax can be transmitted via airborne methods such as bioterrorism, where it is used as a weapon and released into the air to cause infection, or by breathing in anthrax spores from infected animal products such as wool. Humans can also become infected by direct contact, from handling infected animal products, or by vehicular transmission from eating undercooked meat from infected animals causing gastrointestinal anthrax. Anthrax is not passed from one person to another. (Arthur Schoenstadt, 2017). The virulence factors of anthrax are encoded on two large pathogenicity related plasmids. The virulence factors of anthrax are the capsule and endotoxin production (Fasanella, 2013). The capsule of the bacterium aids in attachment to the host and prevents phagocytosis by the host immune system. Once the anthrax spores are lodged into the skin or lungs, the bacteria rapidly begin growth, producing a deadly tripartite endotoxin which affects cell metabolism. This toxin is composed of three proteins which are the Protective Antigen (PA), the Edema Factor (EF) and the Lethal Factor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A centralized government is when the power of the government belongs to very few people and is not dispersed among a larger group. That could include things like monarchies and dictatorships where there only a single authority. Centralized governments is exactly the opposite of what Texas displays. Texas is an example of a decentralized government where the power is dispersed amongst a group of multiple people. There is no single authority in a Texas government because it includes many people with power like attorney generals, governor, senators and representatives. Archie said he would feel ashamed of himself if he didn t fight, even though he was underage, because he was a good athlete, and that s what the army needs . He also felt it was Australia s war because Australia does everything hand in hand with Britain. Frank felt that a war on the other side of the world had nothing to do with Australia, and he did not respect any snobby British authority. Probably the actual realisation of what they were getting themselves into was when Frank and Archie were standing on a hill at sunset; listen to the anguished sounds of battle. Even more horrifying for Frank was witnessing Snowy on his deathbed naïvely saying, I wonder why they aren t giving me any food or drink? When the Anzacs were in Egypt, they thought that the Gypos were a bunch of thieves. The lecture one of the officers gave before the start of the exercises in Cairo probably didn t do much for respect towards the Egyptians. I thought that it was amusing to see the state rivalry during the football game, as it is so reflective of what still happens today in modern day Australia. Perhaps the most awful thing that I found about the movie was that the commanders knew that they were wasting so many young lives, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Character Analysis Of Holden Caulfield In J. D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, the character of Holden Caulfield does not convincingly embody a compassionate and caring character. Holden, after having a difficult year at school, finds comfort in his memories of his brother Allie. Another instance of Holden finding comfort, is when he spends time with Phoebe. In the same way, Phoebe is supportive when spending time with Holden. However, this takes a turn for the worse, as Holden reveals to Phoebe that he is leaving. Holden finds comfort and love through his memories of Allie, his experiences with Phoebe and the support from he receives from her. Holden begins to reminisce about his interactions with his deceased brother, Allie as he feels lost, and does not know what to do. Holden, having difficulty describing a room or house for Stradlater s composition, he decides to write about his brother Allie s baseball mitt, that had poems written a over the glove for Allie to read when he was in the field (Salinger 38). Holden begins to remember how Allie was very intelligent, how everyone liked him, and he even started describing his features (Salinger 38). Holden shows compassion and love towards his brother Allie when he begins to tell the reader, I slept in the garage the night he died, and I broke all the goddam windows with my fist, just for the hell of it. I even tried to break all the windows on the station wagon we had that summer, but my hands was already broken and everything by that time, and I couldn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Québec is a perfect destination for those who love to witness incredible examples of God s creation in nature, visit ancient historical landmarks or try flavorful dishes. One day I hope to walk along the bridge spanning les chutes Montmorency, a waterfall higher than Niagara Falls. Nearly five hundred years ago, Jacque Cariter set sail on an expedition for King Louis I to find Asai. Instead of reaching his intended destination, he discovered what would become French Canada. However it was Samuel de Champlian, one hundred years later, to truly claim the land for France and to establish a permanent capitol of New France, Québec city. It remained so for a century and a half, expanding in agriculture, population, and territory and establishing a french colonial administration. However during the Seven Year War France was forced to sign the Treaty of Paris with England after General Wolfe conquered Québec. Therefore, Canada transferred from a province of France to a colonial of Britain. Canada eventually divided into upper and lower colonies, Ontario and Québec. United ... Native American Spiritual Traditions A Reflection on VOICE,R EPRESENTATION, AND DIALOGUE: THE POETICS OF NATIVE AMERICAN SPIRITUAL TRADITIONS BY ROBIN RIDINGTON My reflection on this topic focuses on preserving the storytelling circle by validating what we perceive. To begin, I will share a brief explanation on how the Basotho connect with the spirits and braid my experience of the same into George Nelson s narrative of the Native American spiritual communication. Similar to the Vision quest stories exemplified in Nelson s record of the Native American spiritual experience are the stories at heart of a Mosotho s family who believes in Meetlo ea Basotho (Basotho traditions). • 29. Lao-Tzu And Machiavelli Analysis Lao Tzu wrote the Tao Te Ching back in sixth century B.C.E as he was exiling himself to a life of contemplation. Before he left, the gatekeeper convinced him to write down his philosophical thoughts. Machiavelli was an elite who lived in Florence during the late 1400s and the early 1500s. He wrote his instructions, The Prince, during the instability of power within Italy after he was wrongly imprisoned. Both texts give advice on the ways in which to rule a country, but because of the times in which they were written, they promote separate ideas on the role of a leader, the view of humanity, and the way their information should be presented. The Master introduced by Lao Tzu and The Prince introduced by Machiavelli are two well renowned embodiments of the perfect leader. A leader, according to Lao Tzu, silently leads his people by allowing them to act and think for themselves. He even states, let go of fixed plans and concepts, and the world will govern itself. The system of government, to him, seems to be a democracy, reaching towards an anarchy. The Master embraces a role of quiet anonymity within society as Lao Tzu believes, when the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. If that is not achieved, then the next best thing is being loved, followed by being feared. On the other end of the spectrum, Machiavelli believes in a dictatorship form of government. The Prince must have complete and utter control over his citizens. Whereas Lao Tzu thought that a leader should be in the background, Machiavelli believes in a leader that is feared above all. He states, ... he should maintain himself in such a way that no man could imagine that he can deceive or cheat him. Power is the goal of the Prince, in contrast to the enlightening of humanity that the Master promotes. Human nature, to both Machiavelli and Lao Tzu, is the foundation for all of a leader s decisions. They differ, however, on how humans inherently are. Lao Tzu holds the opinion that people will do the right thing when rules and guidelines aren t present in society. Lao Tzu states, throw away morality and justice, and people will do the right thing. A leader, to him, shouldn t focus on creating societal standards, because people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the body is disfigured in any way you may be required to do some restorative procedures on the body, using materials such as clay, cotton, plaster of Paris and wax (Lamers 535). You would be required to fill in any open wounds left on the body by law, but would use a picture of the deceased and try to make them appear as life like as possible for the showing (Shipley 201). Most important, however, are the tasks in which you guide, counsel and become involved in the needs of the bereaved and the sensitive, effective manner in which you handle their personal grief (IRN 6). When the body has been embalmed and taken care of you need to help the family choose a casket from the display room the they wish there loved one be laid in(Shipley 178). On the actual day of the funeral service, you attend to the many, many ceremonial, logistical, and administrative details which are required to make sure that the funeral service goes smoothly and in strict accord with the wishes of the family or other survivors (Lamers 541). You should be prepared to suggest and arrange any type of funeral service, sacred or secular, that will best meet the needs of the bereaved. Creative, alternative ceremonies in keeping with the deceased s lifestyle can have special significance and meaning to the family.
