Southern Comfort Definition
Southern Comfort
The old ball and chain is a phrase that many Americans are familiar with. Oftentimes we imagine it
spilling forth from the lips of some distressed, fatigued, overworked man who is with his nagging
wife. It is this image that the advertisers for Southern Comfort are trying to reproduce. They want the
person looking at the ad to sympathize with the man in the image, the man dragging his imaginary ball
and chain . We associate the ball and chain with oppression, hard labor, and unfairness. These
connotations are probably derived from the images that we have seen in old prison movies where the
convicts are forced to work the fields, shackled by a ball and chain. Let us back up for a ... Show more

On the man s right (the direction in which he is looking) is a woman wearing a short black dress with
black heeled shoes. The woman is holding onto the right arm of the man, clutching a purse with her
right hand. Her head is turned toward him and she appears to be smiling. Much of our reaction to this
ad comes solely from looking at these two individuals. More specifically, from the image of the man.
The brightness of the man s shirt and the bags he is carrying stands in contrast to the black of the
woman s dress and thus attracts our eye toward him. The fact that he is carrying so many bags,
whereas the other individuals in the ad have at most one bag, also makes him the center of our
attention. By using metonymy, we substitute the bags that the man is carrying to mean that there has
been a day of shopping, a shopping spree perhaps. The paradigmatic relation between the man and
woman, aided by our own codes of what the duties of both the male and female are in a relationship,
leads us to assume that the bags do not belong to the man but rather, he is carrying them for the
woman next to him. It would be one thing if the man were walking along carrying the bags by himself
but once we see the woman next to him, holding onto his arm, our mind begins to draw its own
conclusions. Another paradigmatic relation begins to form after we have made the assumption that the
man is carrying the bags for the woman. The image of the ball and chain

Cambridge Savings Bank Reflection
I heard about the summer internship program at Cambridge Savings Bank from Michael Lingdren. I
wanted to express interest in a position in the Information Security or the Information Technology
department. I believe that my interpersonal and technical skills would be a great fit at Cambridge
Savings Bank.
Last semester I went through the James Madison University, College of Business 300 project where
my small group and I develop a company while creating a business plan. This extensive project helped
develop my hard and soft skills. The hands on project taught me about finance, operations,
management, and marketing, by showing me how their different concepts merge together to create a
successful business. Overcoming different challenges along

Ethical Issues, Shareholder Or Stakeholder Responsibility,...
Write a paper on a specific problem of ethical leadership, such as environmental issues, shareholder or
stakeholder responsibility, regulatory relationships or sexual harassment or discrimination.
Ethical leadership is leadership that is directed by respect for ethical beliefs and values and for the
dignity and rights of others. It is thus related to concepts such as trust, honesty, consideration,
charisma and fairness.
Face the complexity involved in making ethical choices:
Openly talk about the ethical hazy areas and recognize the unpredictability of work life. Include others
in a greater amount of the ethical choices. Be a leader who discusses the troublesome ethical
decisions, and help other people figure out how to assume liability for settling on ethical choices
carefully.
Don t separate ethics from day to day business:
Leaders must make it clear to their representatives that morals is the way we work and not a
preparation program or instructional pamphlet. Each action, whether it is a preparation program, a
customer meeting or an imperative top administration methodology session, ought to incorporate
discussions about morals. Try not to permit contrary interpersonal practices to dissolve trust: Make
regard a heap bearing shaft in your way of life. Be an ethical pioneer who expects it and practices it.
Develop an aware situation in which individuals can talk up about morals and offer the obligation
regarding living it. Assemble trust, interest open

The Flaws of Social Networking
The media can be a world of great convenience, but it can also become a world of hurt feelings. Sure,
you could be alerted of an emergency within three minutes, but you could also find hurtful messages
on Ask.fm in three minutes. This doesn t only happen anonymously on Ask.fm, but on any social
networking site such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. Social media is supposed to help people feel
better socially, so how can it make them feel worse? The problem of cyber bullying can only grow
worse when the targeted victim is obsessing over every little insult that is directed at them through
social media. Even though the media can be convenient and helpful, it can cause cyber bullying,
which can lead to depression but can be avoided by periodically disconnecting from social media. One
of the problems that is caused by social media is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is bullying people by
misusing social media and usually leads to bullying in real life. This problem relates to me because I
have seen intense fights online and series of mild cyber bullying on Ask.fm and Facebook, creating an
uncomfortable atmosphere for anyone who can view those fights on their news feed. Social media
creates a natural habitat for cyber bullying to occur and makes it harder for the targeted victim to run
off due to new online technology. Furthermore, according to the article Cyber Bullying, Social Media,
and Parental Responsibility , a middle school girl named Rebecca Sedwick had been

The Influence Of Soft Skills In The Military
Abstract
Soft skills influence mission success. We constantly work to maintain tactical and technical
proficiency, also known our hard skills. Hard skills are trainable and measurable. We must also
understand and develop those soft skill tools which are much harder to evaluate in training, but no less
important. The combination of these skill sets greatly enhance our ability to fight and win our nation s
wars. Cultural awareness, communication, and negotiation have always been needed during armed
conflict and will continue to do so. In a period of consistent conflict, with resources constraints, the
ability to utilize these skills is paramount.

We must give them the same attention we give our hard skills, in order to ensure mission readiness.
Cultural awareness prepares us for the environment(s) we will enter and prepares us for interaction
with the populace. Our ability to communicate must be continuously honed, just as we maintain our
arms, our equipment, and ourselves. Leaders at the operational level must be able to negotiate and be
proficient, exercise cultural understanding, and able to deal with complexities that cross cultural
communication will present. These skills will remain in demand as we continue to fight in an era of

Violence In The Freedom Riders
During the Freedom Riders travels, they encounter plenty of angry mobs willing to kill anyone in
support of the rights of African Americans being moved forward. Regardless of race, many Riders
have been mercilessly beaten. A recent incident involved Jim Zwerg, originally from Wisconsin, who
was sympathetic to the movement. He boarded a bus with a group of Freedom Riders in Nashville and
got off in Montgomery. As he was leaving the bus, an angry mob of segregationists attacked him, and
beat him to a pulp. This is just one of many examples of the violence that this decidedly non violent
movement faced. Due to the common extreme violence that happens, the media is very engaged in the

My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover
The mind of a psychotic can be an interesting maze to travel. The reason s that they do what they do
will probably remain a mystery for a long time, despite technological advancements. The reasoning
for some psychotics slips and harms to others can possibly be explained by Owen J. Flanagan, as he
states, The fact that slips sometimes take even the person himself by surprise is explained by the fact
that unconscious wishes are usually unknown to the person himself. (Flanagan). This can help explain
how the men act within the stories My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover. Furthermore, this is a
comparative analysis of the lover s within Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess, both by Robert
Browning. In both stories, the lover s perceive the women as objects, instead of actual people. In My
Last Mistress, he believes that he has given her a gift by marrying her, and thus thinks that he owns
her. He feels that she is taking this gift granted and gets angry when she does not worship him. This is
further pointed out by Susan Brownmiller, ...that masculine esteem which gets its kick and sense of
power from viewing females as anonymous, panting playthings, adult toys, dehumanized objects to be
used, abused, broken and discarded. (Brownmiller). This mode of thinking is more akin to the man in
My Last Duchess. On the same token, in Porphyria s Lover, the lover still sees her as an object
because he wants to make her his forever. He does not want her to go out by herself to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Die Casting
1. Hot tear is an irreversible failure or crack formed in casting. It is commonly related to the
inadequate compensation of solidification shrinkage by melt flow with the occurrence of thermal
stresses. Controlling the right pouring temperature, prevention of rapid changes in section and
consistency in cooling rates can be done as remedies to this phenomenon.
2. Die Casting is a manufacturing process that can create geometrically complex metal parts by using
conveniently reusable molds that are commercially referred to as dies.
Processes:
 Clamping clean the earlier injection and then apply oil to ease the application of the next process
 Injection manage the temperature for the molten metal in the furnace in preparation for its delivery

7. A sprue ought to be tapered in order to minimize if not prevent the occurrence of vortex. It can be
used to scatter the kinetic energy of the dropping stream and avoid splashing and turbulence as the
metal is subjected to spinning in the runner.
8. Defects of die casting are as follows:
a. Shrinkage defects happens when thick metal hardens because of the unavailability of standard feed
material.
b. Gas porosity bubble formation present on the cast after cooling process.
c. Mold shift commonly happens at the final line when parts of the cast are misassembled.
d. Rough surface finish phenomena wherein too much fluidity of the metal is occurs and hard pouring
takes place.
Usage of proper mold of sad, perfect placement of feeders and uniform pattern alignment are ways on
how these abovementioned defects can be prevented.

Ted Bunning Black Holes
My topic that I ve searched is black holes, and I ve done previous projects and conducted multiple
research tasks of this subject. What I have researched on black holes basically covers, how they are
made, what they do, how they die, and the effects they can have on parts of the universe. I do not
claim to be an expert, but my knowledge over black holes could be considered extensive. For this
assignment I did not learn anything new or discover any new theories over black holes. My research
process was not completely taxing or difficult, I simply revisited websites, books, scholarly journals
that I ve searched before, but I did have to search completely new sources and change my approach a

Death Penalty Sentencing and the Criminal Justice System
Jpz777 04/15/2013 Order # 2091084 An examination of death penalty sentencing procedures within
the American criminal justice system suggests that the legal and moral authority to execute
condemned criminals granted to a government has been tested time and time again, only to be
reaffirmed by the Supreme Court. While the 1960 s saw a series of failed attempts to ban the practice,
launched by death penalty abolitionist groups firm in their belief that murder can never be justified, it
was not until 1972 that a majority of Supreme Court justices ruled to prohibit state mandated
executions. According to the Death Penalty Information Center, a national non profit organization
dedicated to providing a forum for informed discussion regarding capital punishment, the issue of
arbitrariness of the death penalty was brought before the Supreme Court in 1972 in Furman v.
Georgia, Jackson v. Georgia, and Branch v. Texas (known collectively as the landmark case Furman v.
Georgia (408 U.S. 238)) (DPIC, 2013). While the court previously ruled in Crampton v. Ohio and
McGautha v. California that the application of capital punishment did not result in arbitrary and
capricious sentencing, the 1972 Furman case challenged the Eight Amendment, whereas the
McGautha case cited the Fourteenth Amendment s due process provision. The choice to attack the
cruel and unusual punishment clause of the Eighth Amedment, while preserving the original arbitrary
and capricious sentencing argument, proved

Multitasking Life Lesson
Life lesson for this seminar was the Multitasking is a myth. I am not too sure how I feel about this
because I even learned about multitasking in previous courses and there are books on the importance
of multitasking. Even at the job they will say you should be able to multitask. I see the point you are
making and I see the science in it but, how exactly do we know what to believe. A typical example,
people who work at McDonald and fast food, what take orders in the drive thru, stocks the refrigerator
overhead and make coffee at the same time, what is that referred to? SPC is important because things
are not perfect in the real world and scientifically to control variation because things will not happen

The Last Discovery Of America Rhetorical Analysis
The Ultimate Persuasion
Persuasion is asserted into many works using the methods of ethos, pathos and logos. Ethos is a call to
authority while claiming a sense of dominance, a method where the author exemplifies his credentials.
Pathos appeals to the emotional side of readers with the hope of coaxing them into sympathizing with
author, therefore succumbing to the ideas presented in the work. The purpose of logos is to persuade
the reader by proving a point logically, accompanied with reason. Various authors use persuasion in
order to inflict their opinions upon readers. In the memoir Brown: The Last Discovery of America, by
Richard Rodriguez, the author employs persuasion with the rhetorical features of ethos, pathos and
logos in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rodriguez demonstrates this rhetorical style through the use of pity throughout the memoir. He
attempts to pull the reader into complying with his conclusions through the use of pity in his stories,
especially with racial incidents. Claiming that he grew up wanting to be white, Rodriguez uses his
race and the desire of wanting to be colorless as a way to generate pity from the reader (140). Using
the comparison of young kids picking sides, he expresses that brown was like the skinny or fat kids
left over after the team captains chose sides. You take the rest my cue to wander away to the sidelines,
to wander away (5). Rodriguez tries to fabricate pity and sympathy from the reader by expressing a
story of heartache, and comparing the atrocious classifications of race to innocent children picking
teams. Not only does Rodrigues use the pity card when talking about his race but also with his
lifestyle and social stature. Reaching out to the audience in his memoir, Rodriguez asks does anybody
know what I m talking about? Ah, me. I am alone in my brown study. I can say anything I like.
Nobody listens (38). With this remark, Richard tries to portray himself as an outsider or an outcaste.
People empathize with outcastes and usually do what they are capable of in pursuance of making the
loner feel accepted. He uses pathos to spawn pity

Archetypes In The Importance Of Being Earnest By Oscar Wilde
An archetype is a character, an action, or a situation that seems to represent universal patterns of
human nature such as Hercules going on a hero s journey to conquer the evil villians and achieve a
god like status (Archetype). The journey and challenges he faces lead him into a heroic ending and
saving a damsel in distress. Similarly, in The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, the
characters face a journey of self discovery through varying archetypes. Jack Worthing is a dreamer,
Cecily and Gwendolen struggle to play the innocent child role, and Ernest is prince charming. The
archetypes portrayed in The Importance of Being Earnest epitomize a journey with self discovery and
a resolution worth defending. Jack Worthing lived a double life where his alter ego was Ernest
Worthing. This alter identity lived in the city and acted as a gentleman to impress a young lady named
Gwendolen. Jack s true identity resided in the country caring for Cecily. Cecily believed that Ernest
was Jack s troubled brother, therefore it was comprehensible that Jack would leave the country
suddenly to go to the city to visit his brother. Jack s double life had remained secret until Algernon
discovered a cigarette case with Jack s name on it, forcing Jack to reveal that his name is Ernest in
town and Jack in the country, and the cigarette case was given to [him] in the country (Wilde 12). The
alter identity developed by Jack was merely a dream. The dreamer archetype allows dreamers to

young people have experienced cyber threats online. Well over half of young people do not tell their
parents when cyber bullying occurs . Parents and teens can do some things that help reduce the cyber
bullying: Encourage teens to tell an adult if cyber bullying is occurring. Tell them if they are the
victims they will not be punished, and reassure them that being bullied is not their fault, Teens should
never tell their password to anyone except a parent, and should not write it down in a place where it

whether or not your child can get cyber bullied. Just give them a certain time limit when using a

My Views On Education And Policy Cycles
With years of experience Ravitch explains her changed views on education and policy cycles. Ravitch
talks about the evolution of her experience from public schooling to politics. She discusses education
and how it transformed to a testing movement. The two main focuses in American education were
accountability and choice. Educational differences began with the transition of the Clintons
administration to the Bush administration. Her career enhanced within education when she was asked
to work for the Department of Education. She joined the Bush administration to be the assistant
secretary in charge of educational research and improvement. Ravitch wanted to focus on a strong
curriculum, which included opportunities in liberal arts and sciences. Ravitch explains her passion for
the American school system and the progress she made. Her focus was to keep a well rounded
educator in each classroom. Ravitch starts by explaining the ideas of charter schools and other market
based reforms. Ravitch discusses the difference between the no child left behind act and a nation at
risk. The Clinton administration Goals 2000 program gave the states federal money for individual
academic standards. The Bush administration implemented the no child left behind act in 2002. Bush s
no child left behind program melded smoothly, with a central feature of the Clinton administration s
Goals program: namely leaving it to the states to set their own standards and pick their own tests

believe that these differences in any way, shape, or form contradict each other. We, as analyzers of
Scripture, must take into account two very important ideas. The first being, Chapter four is a narrative,
and chapter five is a song or poem. The second idea we must consider is: our interpretation of the
scripture must be both literal, but also metaphorical. Do we interpret Sisera falling in Chapter five as a
literal act of falling to the ground, or as a metaphor for losing the battle? Do we interpret by the edge
of the sword (v.16) as a literal sword, or does it merely mean that Barak s army came out victorious?
These are very important questions we must ask ourselves, and answer if we want to uphold the
sanctity, and purity of the Bible. When writing a narrative, it is important to get the gist of the story. It
is imperative that the details are clear, yet concise. The author has less artistic freedom when writing a
narrative, compared to a poet. By means of genre, chapter four must remain a general overview of the
plot. Whereas, Chapter five can use vivid details to describe certain events. Poetry tells a story

Worksheet Craft Regalia
Masonic craft regalia are often used in different Masonic rituals and ceremonies. This explains why all
these regalia should be held in high regard. After all, improper care of the different regalia used in
there rituals would mean a complete disregard of the rituals as well.
What rituals are involved?
Learning the Basics
Considering the number of rituals and the depth of history and beliefs that come with them, it takes
years before one can truly become proficient in all the ceremonies involved. A progressive line is
followed as every Mason ascends to each chair in the lodge. And with each level, a new series of
rituals is to be learned and memorized as well.
The best way to learn all the rituals is to observe lodge meetings and taking close note as to how each
role and part is played. From there, further research can be done to study the more ... Show more

It is the Worshipful Master who asks these mentors to share what they know. They are usually Past
Masters who have mastered not only the rituals, but the history of the lodge and the brotherhood as
well.
Ritual Teams
There are ritual clubs or teams within each lodge that you can join. This is often the fastest way for
one to accumulate all the knowledge needed to rise through the ranks.
Warden s Club
Although not every lodge has one, Warden s Clubs are especially helpful if you want to master the
different Masonic rituals. The club consists of different officers, from Junior Wardens to Worshipful
Masters. They practice the different rituals involved and allow interested parties to observe and learn
from these practice sessions.
Considering the great importance of finding out more about each ritual, it is also imperative that the
proper regalia is used. This is why only a trusted Craft Masonic regalia supplier has the right to
provide for the lodge s regalia needs. For without the proper regalia, the entire ritual can be

The Importance Of Education In The Arts
Throughout my academic career I have repeatedly been exposed to the topic of education in the arts.
More specifically, I encountered the debate of whether art programs should be funded by school
districts. I never quite understood why it was such a big question, but many oppose the idea, due to the
belief that art is not a necessity. I would consider those people who disagree with art funding idiotic;
as I consider it an absolute necessity that school districts provide funding for the arts. One of the most
obvious reasons why school districts should fund arts education is that it is crucial when tapping into
one s creativity. Creative thinking is important to one s ability to open their mind to new and
innovative ideas, that can lead to wonderful discoveries. Those on the opposing side consider creative
thinking to be an untamed and unconventional process that has no real significance or importance to
society and success. I beg to differ as our society would not be able to thrive as it does and will
continue without creative minds. It took a creative mind to develop social media, the internet, and
profitable clothing companies. Without creativity we would not have the things that make our society
so advanced. The arts deserve a place in the school system as a means to encourage and motivate
children and adolescents to strive for success, and to create things that could change the world.
Allowing the arts in an educational setting can positively influence a student s

The Death Penalty And The Fourteenth Amendment
The death penalty to many people could be considered unconstitutional under the eighth and the
fourteenth amendment s. People fear nothing more than death itself because death is final. Execution
dates being carried out promptly with assigned dates after a fair trial would discourage almost anyone
from committing future crimes that are worthy of execution. We as a society are based on the need for
retribution and vengance. Making a wrongdoer pay the price equivalent to the price the wrongdoer
did. Sparsely carrying out executions prolongs the mental and emotional suffering of the victim s
family and friends. It cost taxpayers millions of dollars per year, more than general population to
house a death row inmates. Allowing death row inmates to sit on death row for 25 plus years is a
lugsury most dont deserve. With less than 10% of all inmates being exonorated in the past 200 years
of death penalties it is unclear why executions are not more readily carried out.
Currently, the total number of inmates that have been executed in the US is 1,434. While the total
number of inmates currently on death row is 2,943, 55 of which are female inmates.
Our desire for retribution dates back as early as the 18th Century BC. We feel the need to see the
wrongdoer have consequences for their actions. To be punished and feel the pain that their victim felt
so they can also suffer. Some people love that idea that the person who commited a crime suffers by
whatever means necessary. Knowing

The Military Professional Identity Is Defined Differently...
As Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy, we are in the developmental phase on our way
to become the future leaders defined as military professionals. The military professional identity is
defined differently by everyone. I believe for one to embody the military professional identity, he or
she has to be a leader of character and ready to defend the nation. The four years spent at the Naval
Academy gives you the opportunity to develop and mold your physical, mental, and moral stature in
order to embody the military professional identity that one desires or believes is right. I believe that
one s character is partially developed based on their core values. I personally embody core values such
as dependability, honesty, and commitment. There are other core values that I would say are necessary
in order to fit the identity as a military professional, but those three values are the ones that define me
as a future leader in the military. A leader should be dependable at least. As a leader in the military,
you constantly will have subordinates who are facing trials and tribulations in which they will need a
leader that they can trust and depend on. That follows right into my next core value that is honesty.
Being honest is the only way to really earn someone s trust. An individual will only follow in an
environment where he or she knows that the one leading them is consistently honest. This
environment would include a leader that refrains from deception by lying or

Case Study Of Folklore, Myths And Fantasy
Fairytale, Folklore, Myths and Fantasy: A Case Study based on JK Rowling s Harry Potter series
Abstract
Fantasy is a genre of literature which gives flexibility and scope to the writers to explore their
thoughts. Fantasy depends upon the imagination and creativity of the writer. We can define fantasy as
a genre of literature that is far removed from reality, set in a world beyond our thinking such as house
on moon or any other planet, a place in the middle of ocean etc. The characters of fantasy are often
uncanny means these are non human creatures such as elfs, werewolves, giants, trolls, dragons. Many
fantasy stories include the elements of folklore and based upon the ancient or cultural myths of the
particular age or dynasty. This article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can say that myth plays an important role in constructing the plot of the fantasy work. Myth means
ideas, thoughts, and images that have the relationship with folklores, fairy tales, spiritual stories,
stories of Gods and legends. Donna Rosenberg has expressed her thoughts on myths in her
introduction to the World Mythology, Myths symbolize human experience and embody the spiritual
values of a culture....Some explain origins, natural phenomenon, and death; others describe the nature
and function of divinities; while still others provide models of virtuous behaviour by relating the
adventures of the heroes or the misfortunes of arrogant humans.(xv) Myths and folklores have a broad
range of functions in fantasy literature. In his article Folklore and Fantastic Literature, C.W. Sullivan
III mentions the functions of myth that is particularly important to second world, or high fantasy.
J.R.R. Tolkien has made a great use of fantasy in his On Fairy Stories. It is not easy for one to think
fantasy literature without taking into consideration the fairytale. Max Luthi states that The fairytale is
a universe in miniature. (25) Fantasy is a very creative art which requires skills and perfection
otherwise it would convey adverse effect. Tolkien thinks that fantasy is not a lower but a higher form
of art, indeed nearly the most pure form, and so (when achieved) the most potent. (On Fairy Stories
45) When creating a fantasy, writer uses it as an art and takes the fantasy very seriously. Fantasy must
not to be made fun of, in doing so it loses its power and

The Heart Lab Report
In this lab, the students observed the rate and rhythm and how it fluctuates when an individual is
relaxed, in a seated position, and after exercising. The Heart is a hollow muscular organ that is cone
shaped and it is located in the mediastinum in between the lungs (The Heart, Slide 3 2016). The heart
is separated into two main divisions, the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit. The pulmonary
circuit helps carry blood to the lungs from the heart for gas exchange and it is located in the right side
of the heart. In the pulmonary circuit the heart fills with blood in the right atrium then it passes
through the right atrioventricular valve which then leads to the right ventricle. Once it is in the right
ventricle, the right ventricle contracts which opens the pulmonary valves. After this blood flows from
the pulmonary valve to the pulmonary trunk which then distributes it into the right and left pulmonary
arteries that supply the lungs where it deposits oxygenated blood. ... Show more content on

In the systemic circuit blood returns from the lungs into the left atrium. Once in the left atrium blood
flows though the left atrioventricular valve into the left ventricle. The left ventricle then contracts and
the aortic valve opens because of the contraction. Blood then flows through he aortic valve into the
ascending aorta and then once in the aorta it is then sent to every organ in the body where it excretes
oxygen and intakes carbon dioxide. Finally, the carbon dioxide rich blood returns itself to the heart for
the process to reoccur again. Both circuits must always maintain circulation so that blood can be
constantly disbursed throughout the body (The Heart, Slide 11

Inequality And Inequality In Education
In 1962, the Students for a Democratic Society wrote We are people of this generation, bred in at least
modest comfort, housed now in universities, looking uncomfortably to the world we inherit., (Students
for a Democratic Society, p. 1). While it has been over 50 years since this statement was written, it is
still applicable to today s society, housing many of the same issues that were prominent back then,
including the issues of race, war, education, inequality, and immigration. In this essay, I am going to
focus mainly on the issues surrounding inequality and the education system because I believe they are
prominent in the lives of almost every member of our society, since at some point everyone will go
through the education system or have connections to someone who went or will go through it, and
inequality incorporates every member of society because one is equal and unequal to others, whether
on the grounds of education, race, and socioeconomic status, to state a few, yet not an extensive list.
Both the education system and inequality in our country have many problems, many of which stem
from the systemic inequity, which is the lack of fairness and justice rooted in and normalized in
society, but now the main question is how we respond to these issues. As citizens of a democratic
society, according to Ketcham and Tussman, it is our responsibility, when making decisions and
practicing our rights, to have the public good partially in mind, but have a balance between

Aperture Cameras Consistently Returned The Highest Net Income
Aperture Cameras consistently returned the highest net income (Fig.3), which provided the base for
strong earnings per share (EPS) and return on equity (REO). For example, Year 6 earnings per share
was $3.57 and increased in each subsequent year, ending Year 12 at $7.25. The improved EPS was
accomplished with providing consistent well thought out modifications to the business model and not
significant stock repurchase. The company did strategically make annual stock repurchases starting in
Year 8. Return on Equity (ROE) was maintained at a consistent weighted average of 23.7, representing
the average of ROE from a low of 21.0 to a high of 27.1. Management elected to operate the company
with sound business principals and avoid aggressive changes in the balance sheet and/or P L, which
could dramatically swing the ROE.
It was management s opinion what consistent reliable business practices would add a sense of security
to the company s operations, employees and shareholders. The financial consistency of the company
provided shareholders with comfort in their investment with the stock price at $43.92 in Year 6 and
steadily rising to $128.11 by Year 12. As previously noted, the financial results were accomplished by
providing consistent high net earnings on its operations each accounting year. The company did not
incur long term debt and operated its business without having to utilized its bank operating line of
credit (no interest cost), thus maintaining a healthy

The Cyber Security Vulnerabilities Faced By Different...
In today society, Information Technology (IT) managers are facing their fears of different cyber
security vulnerabilities faced by different network. The vulnerabilities being either unknown or known
makes it challenging for an Information Technology manager to keep the network secure.
Organizations prefer to deal with wireless network because of what it can offer. According to Cisco,
wireless networks are a powerful tool for boosting productivity and encouraging information sharing.
With untethered access to documents, emails, applications and other network resources, employees
can roam where they need to and have constant access to the tools required to do their jobs (Five
Reasons to Go Wireless). Dealing with wireless network it allows employees or guest to browse
without losing connection in the building. Wireless network has been an option for companies to have
because it s easy to set up and cheaper to implement. When it comes to network expansion, company
may find this a better option to get access to information because it allows business transport data over
networks (Dean). Wireless network is now common in business and home network and necessary in
some specialized network environments however; from an IT manager s perspective it could be a
nightmare. When talking about network vulnerabilities, wireless connection used on a personal or
business network is one of the major vulnerability. A device having access on a wireless network on
public and private networks

Mass Extermination Research Paper
What can the human race do to ensure that another mass extermination never happens again? That
depends the human race being united to fight it. All cultures have distinguished people into categories
of us and them : ethnicity, race, religion, nationality. We don t see ourselves as one people, but as
multiple peoples defending ourselves against others. We don t see other races as human beings, either.
Because we grow up and live apart from other cultures and languages, we see other human beings
unlike us as peculiar to ourselves dehumanizing them. We create imaginary borders around our own
kind and shut out other groups. If we, as one human race, overcame these boundaries, then the
extermination of large groups of people would cease. Another

The Importance Of Comprehensive Sex Education
Many states in the Unites States require that public schools teach some form of sex education. Sex
education is a broad topic that covers many things including human sexuality, reproductive health,
safe sex, birth control, and abstinence, etc. There are primarily two forms of sex education that are
taught. The first of the two is an abstinence only program, where schools teach their students not to
have sexual relations with others outside of marriage; they also do not teach about safe sex or birth
control. The other form of sex education that is taught is comprehensive sex education. Schools where
comprehensive sex education is taught teach their students about the importance of sexual abstinence,
but also teach about proper use of birth control. There are many people who have different opinions on
what kind of sex education should be taught; and the best way to teach it in public schools.
It is not uncommon for schools that teach comprehensive sex education to pass out condoms or some
other forms of contraception to their students. Since the late 1980s, some schools have made condoms
available to students as part of their multipronged efforts to reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy
and STDs including AIDS (ACLU). The belief of passing out condoms in a comprehensive sex
education program is to discourage a student from engaging in risky sexual behaviors. The distribution
of condoms in some comprehensive sex education programs is not to necessarily to promote sex, but

Argumentative Essay On Creation Vs. Evolution In Public...
Creation vs. Evolution Since the Scopes Trials came to a close, the Supreme Court enforced the
teaching no of evolution in all public schools across the US in 1987. The interesting part was that most
people believe that the Supreme Court had banned the teachings of creationism, but the decision stated
that creation is no more than how life began ( Teaching Creation, 2010). The case that made the
decision, Edwards vs. Aguillard, actually allow public schools to teach either creation or evolution, as
long as the teacher does not mention God in the picture ( Teaching Creation, 2010). Therefore, the
teaching of creation is not illegal. Up to a certain point where God is mentioned. This fact can depict

There is no known proof about how evolution is true as of the general public of the world know today.
Frederick Edwords states that creationist Jimmy Townley said, during the ACLU vs. Arkansas case,
that any evidence that cast doubt on evolution must be evidence for God and creation (Edwords,
1982). The statement proves that if evolution is wrong, then it must be God that created all, which is
logical. It is logical because there is no other theory, that is known to the general public, that claims
how all living things came about so therefore it is either God or evolution. Francis Collins, a
geneticist, devoted Christian, who converted from Atheism at age twenty seven uses a logical
argument by stating If God wanted to create humans, it would be slightly odd that He should choose
the extraordinarily roundabout way of waiting ten billion years before life got started (2006, Van
Biema), which is not what God did nor would do because the Bible says that God had created all
things in six days, not ten billion years. It does not make sense for God to create a single cell, and then
let the cell evolve into a human that took ten billion years; the reason is because God had created man

Corruption In Society
The Constitution is a plan for the government that was developed in 1789. The government s role is to
protect the people s natural rights and provide security for people. Throughout time there have been
changes in society, therefore the Constitution should have changes to fit our society. The body of the
Constitution is adequate for today s society but to help keep our rights safe and to have good security,
there should be minor changes to the Constitution. The Constitution is corrupt in today s society
because of technological advances, corrupt government officials, and the federal government has too
much power over state governments. In today s society there are corrupt government officials. For
example the basic person can t run for President. You have to have money in order to run a campaign.
So there are only rich people involved in today s politics and they only care about how they can
benefit themselves. Yates said Purposes of gratifying their own interest and ambition. This says that
people will and do abuse their power for their own purposes and don t care about the average person.
Yates also wrote to call them to account for their misconduct, or to prevent their abuse of power. This
states that it is our responsibility as citizens to prevent or call out officials on this matter. If we are not
careful then the government could change into an aristocracy. Some officials that are rich only care
about money and power so if we let them in power then they could

The Writer s Credibility And The Reader s Efficiency
The purpose of substantive editing is to maximize the writer s credibility and the reader s efficiency.
This stage intends to produce a revised manuscript that improves the readability and understandability
of the readers, as well as maintaining the purpose of the text. Editors suggest appropriate changes
according to what the writer wants to accomplish and the intended audience which determines the
content, organization and tone. Thus, the end result of substantive editing is a balance between the
writer s intentions with the reader s expectations which in turn serves the text reliable, accurate and
hopefully, useful. Readers respect authors when there is no faulty or missing information. In order to
protect the writer s credibility, editors consult subject experts to guarantee the content is correct and up
to date. They keep in mind who the intended audience is (their level of sophistication, their financial
status, their sensitivity towards the topic) so they can determine what information, which tone, what
structure is suitable for them, and still ensure the objectives of the text are explicit. There will be times
when writers forget necessary details that [is needed to validate] a conclusion (Sutcliffe 583). The lack
of content can break a reader s flow: they will not be prepared to follow the upcoming material.
Editors do not want the audience confused because unpredictability can increase the chances of losing
a reader s interest. When there is complete

Sarah Reynolds s Influence On Life
A 30 year old woman named Sarah Reynolds came to me for counseling because she believes that she

Growing up, Sarah had three siblings and two parents in her household, and her parents had a role for
each child. When Sarah was younger she was bullied in school and never felt pretty enough, but once
she got to high school she began to feel more comfortable in her own skin. She made a lot more
friends and even joined the cheerleading squad. Sarah expressed that her parents (particularly her
father) saw this change in Sarah s self confidence and began calling her the self absorbed child . Her
parents and soon after, her siblings, would say that Sarah was too into herself, and only cared to be
involved in a conversation or activity if it related to her in some way. This feeling that her family gave
her trickled into her adult life and has had an effect on the way she feels about her parenting style and
her job. Sarah expressed to me that she often lacks confidence when it comes to parenting because of
how her parent s perceived her confidence growing up. She feels as though she can t make any
mistakes for fear of judgment from her child one day. She also says she is afraid she is going to get
fired because her boss expressed to her that she lacks creativity in the office and does not express her
ideas as often as she should. She fears that if she is more confident in her position,

From a sports injury to a fall, an ACL may occur for numerous reasons. Receiving an accurate
diagnosis from the area s best orthopedic surgeon will help in determine if surgery for ACL tear is

Symptoms
The most efficient indicator of a torn ACL is pain. The pain sets in almost immediately. During the
incident leading up to the ACL tear, a loud popping noise may occur. The noise may be so loud

The various procedures and tests will help determine if the ACL is torn. In some cases, the orthopedic
surgeon may begin with simple non surgical methods including applying ice packs, taking pain
medication or minimizing movement of the knee.
The non surgical approach can help reduce swelling and relieve pain. The non surgical methods help
in preparing for surgery for ACL tear. The wait period allows for reduced swelling and the elimination
of bleeding in the torn ACL. The surgery for ACL tear is used to provide an optimal outcome returning
the individual back to a normal, healthy lifestyle.
Rehabilitation Recovery
The rehabilitation and recovery process will vary with each individual. In some more severe cases, full
recovery from surgery for ACL tear may take over nine months. The best orthopedic surgeon will
work to achieve an optimal outcome for the patient on an individualized basis.
The rehabilitation and physical therapy will help increase the range of motion in the knee area to help
return the patient back to a normal lifestyle. Strengthening exercises are often used to achieve this
goal. During this time after the surgery for ACL tear, a protective knee brace may be prescribed to
help reduce the stress on the injured

The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay
The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in
1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a
monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and
arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This
area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk
storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water are calculated. The
development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient
amounts of water for the refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this
paper are to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement and to predict
what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The questions that I intend to
answer are: What is the current water usage of the refugee settlement in Mayukwayukwa? What is the
minimum volume that will meet the basic requirements of the people in the refugee settlement? An
accurate data set of water usage of the Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa is impossible to find as
there have been no previous attempts to measure it for any reason. The total water usage of the
Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement is 64,240,000 Litres/Year. This total can be

How far do you agree that the collectivisation of agriculture made an essential contribution to Stalin s
transformation of the Russian economy? To a greater extent, I do agree that collectivisation was an
essential contribution to stalin s transformation of the economy, for example, it helped increase
production and with it came the increase in industrialisation. Although there were many clear failures
with collectivisation, in purely economic terms, it was mainly successful. However, I also think, that
to a certain extent, it was other factors such as the 3 5 year plans that helped transform the economy.

Between 9.5 million and 10 million people were exiled due to dekulakisation. The kulaks were
however the most talented of the farmers and with rapid liquidation of their kind, Stalin was in fact
decreasing the efficiency of production. Others who were afraid of being labelled kulak and being
handed the same fate, began to get rid of the new and best technologies in order to come across less
like them. Figures show that grain harvests did in fact decrease, in 1928, they stood at 73.3 million
tons whereas in 1924 they had decreased to 67.6 million tons. As well as this, peasants were being
forced to meet unrealistic targets with little or no rewards. They no longer owned the land they worked
on, or could sell the food they produced in order to gain profits to cover the production costs. This
created resentment towards the government, rather than the joint revolutionary spirit Stalin had wished
to conjure. Instead peasants began killing cattle and other livestock to prevent them from having to be
turned over to the state, instead of increasing productivity this naturally stunted economic growth.
Cattle, pigs, sheep and goats all decreased, for example, cattle herds decreased from 70.5 million head
to 42.4 million head in 1934. Although collectivisation does show clear beneficial factors that
contributed to Stalin s transformation of the Russian economy, there were also other factors which

  • 2. Southern Comfort Definition Southern Comfort The old ball and chain is a phrase that many Americans are familiar with. Oftentimes we imagine it spilling forth from the lips of some distressed, fatigued, overworked man who is with his nagging wife. It is this image that the advertisers for Southern Comfort are trying to reproduce. They want the person looking at the ad to sympathize with the man in the image, the man dragging his imaginary ball and chain . We associate the ball and chain with oppression, hard labor, and unfairness. These connotations are probably derived from the images that we have seen in old prison movies where the convicts are forced to work the fields, shackled by a ball and chain. Let us back up for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the man s right (the direction in which he is looking) is a woman wearing a short black dress with black heeled shoes. The woman is holding onto the right arm of the man, clutching a purse with her right hand. Her head is turned toward him and she appears to be smiling. Much of our reaction to this ad comes solely from looking at these two individuals. More specifically, from the image of the man. The brightness of the man s shirt and the bags he is carrying stands in contrast to the black of the woman s dress and thus attracts our eye toward him. The fact that he is carrying so many bags, whereas the other individuals in the ad have at most one bag, also makes him the center of our attention. By using metonymy, we substitute the bags that the man is carrying to mean that there has been a day of shopping, a shopping spree perhaps. The paradigmatic relation between the man and woman, aided by our own codes of what the duties of both the male and female are in a relationship, leads us to assume that the bags do not belong to the man but rather, he is carrying them for the woman next to him. It would be one thing if the man were walking along carrying the bags by himself but once we see the woman next to him, holding onto his arm, our mind begins to draw its own conclusions. Another paradigmatic relation begins to form after we have made the assumption that the man is carrying the bags for the woman. The image of the ball and chain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Write a paper on a specific problem of ethical leadership, such as environmental issues, shareholder or stakeholder responsibility, regulatory relationships or sexual harassment or discrimination. Ethical leadership is leadership that is directed by respect for ethical beliefs and values and for the dignity and rights of others. It is thus related to concepts such as trust, honesty, consideration, charisma and fairness. Include others in a greater amount of the ethical choices. Be a leader who discusses the troublesome ethical decisions, and help other people figure out how to assume liability for settling on ethical choices carefully. • 7. The Flaws of Social Networking The media can be a world of great convenience, but it can also become a world of hurt feelings. Sure, you could be alerted of an emergency within three minutes, but you could also find hurtful messages on Ask.fm in three minutes. This doesn t only happen anonymously on Ask.fm, but on any social networking site such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. Social media is supposed to help people feel better socially, so how can it make them feel worse? The problem of cyber bullying can only grow worse when the targeted victim is obsessing over every little insult that is directed at them through social media. Even though the media can be convenient and helpful, it can cause cyber bullying, which can lead to depression but can be avoided by periodically disconnecting from social media. One of the problems that is caused by social media is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is bullying people by misusing social media and usually leads to bullying in real life. This problem relates to me because I have seen intense fights online and series of mild cyber bullying on Ask.fm and Facebook, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for anyone who can view those fights on their news feed. • 9. Violence In The Freedom Riders During the Freedom Riders travels, they encounter plenty of angry mobs willing to kill anyone in support of the rights of African Americans being moved forward. Regardless of race, many Riders have been mercilessly beaten. A recent incident involved Jim Zwerg, originally from Wisconsin, who was sympathetic to the movement. • 10. My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover The mind of a psychotic can be an interesting maze to travel. The reason s that they do what they do will probably remain a mystery for a long time, despite technological advancements. The reasoning for some psychotics slips and harms to others can possibly be explained by Owen J. Flanagan, as he states, The fact that slips sometimes take even the person himself by surprise is explained by the fact that unconscious wishes are usually unknown to the person himself. (Flanagan). This can help explain how the men act within the stories My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover. Furthermore, this is a comparative analysis of the lover s within Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess, both by Robert Browning. In both stories, the lover s perceive the women as objects, instead of actual people. In My Last Mistress, he believes that he has given her a gift by marrying her, and thus thinks that he owns her. He feels that she is taking this gift granted and gets angry when she does not worship him. This is further pointed out by Susan Brownmiller, ...that masculine esteem which gets its kick and sense of power from viewing females as anonymous, panting playthings, adult toys, dehumanized objects to be used, abused, broken and discarded. (Brownmiller). This mode of thinking is more akin to the man in My Last Duchess. On the same token, in Porphyria s Lover, the lover still sees her as an object because he wants to make her his forever. He does not want her to go out by herself to ... Death Penalty Sentencing and the Criminal Justice System Jpz777 04/15/2013 Order # 2091084 An examination of death penalty sentencing procedures within the American criminal justice system suggests that the legal and moral authority to execute condemned criminals granted to a government has been tested time and time again, only to be reaffirmed by the Supreme Court. While the 1960 s saw a series of failed attempts to ban the practice, launched by death penalty abolitionist groups firm in their belief that murder can never be justified, it was not until 1972 that a majority of Supreme Court justices ruled to prohibit state mandated executions. According to the Death Penalty Information Center, a national non profit organization dedicated to providing a forum for informed discussion regarding capital punishment, the issue of arbitrariness of the death penalty was brought before the Supreme Court in 1972 in Furman v. Georgia, Jackson v. Georgia, and Branch v. Texas (known collectively as the landmark case Furman v. Georgia (408 U.S. 238)) (DPIC, 2013). While the court previously ruled in Crampton v. Ohio and McGautha v. California that the application of capital punishment did not result in arbitrary and capricious sentencing, the 1972 Furman case challenged the Eight Amendment, whereas the McGautha case cited the Fourteenth Amendment s due process provision. Archetypes In The Importance Of Being Earnest By Oscar Wilde An archetype is a character, an action, or a situation that seems to represent universal patterns of human nature such as Hercules going on a hero s journey to conquer the evil villians and achieve a god like status (Archetype). The journey and challenges he faces lead him into a heroic ending and saving a damsel in distress. Similarly, in The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, the characters face a journey of self discovery through varying archetypes. Jack Worthing is a dreamer, Cecily and Gwendolen struggle to play the innocent child role, and Ernest is prince charming. The archetypes portrayed in The Importance of Being Earnest epitomize a journey with self discovery and a resolution worth defending. Jack Worthing lived a double life where his alter ego was Ernest Worthing. This alter identity lived in the city and acted as a gentleman to impress a young lady named Gwendolen. Jack s true identity resided in the country caring for Cecily. Cecily believed that Ernest was Jack s troubled brother, therefore it was comprehensible that Jack would leave the country suddenly to go to the city to visit his brother. Jack s double life had remained secret until Algernon discovered a cigarette case with Jack s name on it, forcing Jack to reveal that his name is Ernest in town and Jack in the country, and the cigarette case was given to [him] in the country (Wilde 12). Instead killed him on the spot, and watched him fall to his death on the floor of her tent. As you can see, there are significant differences between chapters four and five of Judges. Relating back to the initial theme of contradictions, I do not believe that these differences in any way, shape, or form contradict each other. We, as analyzers of Scripture, must take into account two very important ideas. The first being, Chapter four is a narrative, and chapter five is a song or poem. The second idea we must consider is: our interpretation of the scripture must be both literal, but also metaphorical. Do we interpret Sisera falling in Chapter five as a literal act of falling to the ground, or as a metaphor for losing the battle? Do we interpret by the edge of the sword (v.16) as a literal sword, or does it merely mean that Barak s army came out victorious? These are very important questions we must ask ourselves, and answer if we want to uphold the sanctity, and purity of the Bible. When writing a narrative, it is important to get the gist of the story. It is imperative that the details are clear, yet concise. More specifically, I encountered the debate of whether art programs should be funded by school districts. I never quite understood why it was such a big question, but many oppose the idea, due to the belief that art is not a necessity. I would consider those people who disagree with art funding idiotic; as I consider it an absolute necessity that school districts provide funding for the arts. One of the most obvious reasons why school districts should fund arts education is that it is crucial when tapping into one s creativity. Creative thinking is important to one s ability to open their mind to new and innovative ideas, that can lead to wonderful discoveries. Those on the opposing side consider creative thinking to be an untamed and unconventional process that has no real significance or importance to society and success. I beg to differ as our society would not be able to thrive as it does and will continue without creative minds. It took a creative mind to develop social media, the internet, and profitable clothing companies. Without creativity we would not have the things that make our society so advanced. People fear nothing more than death itself because death is final. Execution dates being carried out promptly with assigned dates after a fair trial would discourage almost anyone from committing future crimes that are worthy of execution. We as a society are based on the need for retribution and vengance. Making a wrongdoer pay the price equivalent to the price the wrongdoer did. Sparsely carrying out executions prolongs the mental and emotional suffering of the victim s family and friends. Allowing death row inmates to sit on death row for 25 plus years is a lugsury most dont deserve. Our desire for retribution dates back as early as the 18th Century BC. We feel the need to see the wrongdoer have consequences for their actions. As Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy, we are in the developmental phase on our way to become the future leaders defined as military professionals. The four years spent at the Naval Academy gives you the opportunity to develop and mold your physical, mental, and moral stature in order to embody the military professional identity that one desires or believes is right. I believe that one s character is partially developed based on their core values. I personally embody core values such as dependability, honesty, and commitment. There are other core values that I would say are necessary in order to fit the identity as a military professional, but those three values are the ones that define me as a future leader in the military. A leader should be dependable at least. As a leader in the military, you constantly will have subordinates who are facing trials and tribulations in which they will need a leader that they can trust and depend on. In this essay, I am going to focus mainly on the issues surrounding inequality and the education system because I believe they are prominent in the lives of almost every member of our society, since at some point everyone will go through the education system or have connections to someone who went or will go through it, and inequality incorporates every member of society because one is equal and unequal to others, whether on the grounds of education, race, and socioeconomic status, to state a few, yet not an extensive list. Both the education system and inequality in our country have many problems, many of which stem from the systemic inequity, which is the lack of fairness and justice rooted in and normalized in society, but now the main question is how we respond to these issues. As citizens of a democratic society, according to Ketcham and Tussman, it is our responsibility, when making decisions and practicing our rights, to have the public good partially in mind, but have a balance between ... • 33. Aperture Cameras Consistently Returned The Highest Net Income Aperture Cameras consistently returned the highest net income (Fig.3), which provided the base for strong earnings per share (EPS) and return on equity (REO). For example, Year 6 earnings per share was $3.57 and increased in each subsequent year, ending Year 12 at $7.25. The improved EPS was accomplished with providing consistent well thought out modifications to the business model and not significant stock repurchase. The company did strategically make annual stock repurchases starting in Year 8. Return on Equity (ROE) was maintained at a consistent weighted average of 23.7, representing the average of ROE from a low of 21.0 to a high of 27.1. Management elected to operate the company with sound business principals and avoid aggressive changes in the balance sheet and/or P L, which could dramatically swing the ROE. It was management s opinion what consistent reliable business practices would add a sense of security to the company s operations, employees and shareholders. The financial consistency of the company provided shareholders with comfort in their investment with the stock price at $43.92 in Year 6 and steadily rising to $128.11 by Year 12. As previously noted, the financial results were accomplished by providing consistent high net earnings on its operations each accounting year. The company did not incur long term debt and operated its business without having to utilized its bank operating line of credit (no interest cost), thus maintaining a healthy ... In today society, Information Technology (IT) managers are facing their fears of different cyber security vulnerabilities faced by different network. The vulnerabilities being either unknown or known makes it challenging for an Information Technology manager to keep the network secure. Organizations prefer to deal with wireless network because of what it can offer. According to Cisco, wireless networks are a powerful tool for boosting productivity and encouraging information sharing. With untethered access to documents, emails, applications and other network resources, employees can roam where they need to and have constant access to the tools required to do their jobs (Five Reasons to Go Wireless). Dealing with wireless network it allows employees or guest to browse without losing connection in the building. Wireless network has been an option for companies to have because it s easy to set up and cheaper to implement. When it comes to network expansion, company may find this a better option to get access to information because it allows business transport data over networks (Dean). • 36. Mass Extermination Research Paper What can the human race do to ensure that another mass extermination never happens again? That depends the human race being united to fight it. All cultures have distinguished people into categories of us and them : ethnicity, race, religion, nationality. We don t see ourselves as one people, but as multiple peoples defending ourselves against others. We don t see other races as human beings, either. Because we grow up and live apart from other cultures and languages, we see other human beings unlike us as peculiar to ourselves dehumanizing them. We create imaginary borders around our own kind and shut out other groups. If we, as one human race, overcame these boundaries, then the extermination of large groups of people would cease. • 37. The Importance Of Comprehensive Sex Education Many states in the Unites States require that public schools teach some form of sex education. Sex education is a broad topic that covers many things including human sexuality, reproductive health, safe sex, birth control, and abstinence, etc. There are primarily two forms of sex education that are taught. The first of the two is an abstinence only program, where schools teach their students not to have sexual relations with others outside of marriage; they also do not teach about safe sex or birth control. The other form of sex education that is taught is comprehensive sex education. Schools where comprehensive sex education is taught teach their students about the importance of sexual abstinence, but also teach about proper use of birth control. There are many people who have different opinions on what kind of sex education should be taught; and the best way to teach it in public schools. It is not uncommon for schools that teach comprehensive sex education to pass out condoms or some other forms of contraception to their students. Since the late 1980s, some schools have made condoms available to students as part of their multipronged efforts to reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy and STDs including AIDS (ACLU). The belief of passing out condoms in a comprehensive sex education program is to discourage a student from engaging in risky sexual behaviors. The distribution of condoms in some comprehensive sex education programs is not to necessarily to promote sex, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Argumentative Essay On Creation Vs. Evolution In Public... Creation vs. Evolution Since the Scopes Trials came to a close, the Supreme Court enforced the teaching no of evolution in all public schools across the US in 1987. The interesting part was that most people believe that the Supreme Court had banned the teachings of creationism, but the decision stated that creation is no more than how life began ( Teaching Creation, 2010). The case that made the decision, Edwards vs. Aguillard, actually allow public schools to teach either creation or evolution, as long as the teacher does not mention God in the picture ( Teaching Creation, 2010). Therefore, the teaching of creation is not illegal. Up to a certain point where God is mentioned. This fact can depict one s belief in God and how humans came ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no known proof about how evolution is true as of the general public of the world know today. Frederick Edwords states that creationist Jimmy Townley said, during the ACLU vs. Arkansas case, that any evidence that cast doubt on evolution must be evidence for God and creation (Edwords, 1982). The statement proves that if evolution is wrong, then it must be God that created all, which is logical. It is logical because there is no other theory, that is known to the general public, that claims how all living things came about so therefore it is either God or evolution. Francis Collins, a geneticist, devoted Christian, who converted from Atheism at age twenty seven uses a logical argument by stating If God wanted to create humans, it would be slightly odd that He should choose the extraordinarily roundabout way of waiting ten billion years before life got started (2006, Van Biema), which is not what God did nor would do because the Bible says that God had created all things in six days, not ten billion years. It does not make sense for God to create a single cell, and then let the cell evolve into a human that took ten billion years; the reason is because God had created man in His ... • 39. Corruption In Society The Constitution is a plan for the government that was developed in 1789. The government s role is to protect the people s natural rights and provide security for people. Throughout time there have been changes in society, therefore the Constitution should have changes to fit our society. The body of the Constitution is adequate for today s society but to help keep our rights safe and to have good security, there should be minor changes to the Constitution. The Constitution is corrupt in today s society because of technological advances, corrupt government officials, and the federal government has too much power over state governments. In today s society there are corrupt government officials. For example the basic person can t run for President. You have to have money in order to run a campaign. So there are only rich people involved in today s politics and they only care about how they can benefit themselves. Yates said Purposes of gratifying their own interest and ambition. This says that people will and do abuse their power for their own purposes and don t care about the average person. Yates also wrote to call them to account for their misconduct, or to prevent their abuse of power. This states that it is our responsibility as citizens to prevent or call out officials on this matter. If we are not careful then the government could change into an aristocracy. Some officials that are rich only care about money and power so if we let them in power then they could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Writer s Credibility And The Reader s Efficiency The purpose of substantive editing is to maximize the writer s credibility and the reader s efficiency. This stage intends to produce a revised manuscript that improves the readability and understandability of the readers, as well as maintaining the purpose of the text. Editors suggest appropriate changes according to what the writer wants to accomplish and the intended audience which determines the content, organization and tone. Thus, the end result of substantive editing is a balance between the writer s intentions with the reader s expectations which in turn serves the text reliable, accurate and hopefully, useful. Readers respect authors when there is no faulty or missing information. In order to protect the writer s credibility, editors consult subject experts to guarantee the content is correct and up to date. They keep in mind who the intended audience is (their level of sophistication, their financial status, their sensitivity towards the topic) so they can determine what information, which tone, what structure is suitable for them, and still ensure the objectives of the text are explicit. There will be times when writers forget necessary details that [is needed to validate] a conclusion (Sutcliffe 583). The lack of content can break a reader s flow: they will not be prepared to follow the upcoming material. Editors do not want the audience confused because unpredictability can increase the chances of losing a reader s interest. When there is complete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She expressed to me that she began feeling this way when she was in high school. Growing up, Sarah had three siblings and two parents in her household, and her parents had a role for each child. When Sarah was younger she was bullied in school and never felt pretty enough, but once she got to high school she began to feel more comfortable in her own skin. She made a lot more friends and even joined the cheerleading squad. Sarah expressed that her parents (particularly her father) saw this change in Sarah s self confidence and began calling her the self absorbed child . Her parents and soon after, her siblings, would say that Sarah was too into herself, and only cared to be involved in a conversation or activity if it related to her in some way. This feeling that her family gave her trickled into her adult life and has had an effect on the way she feels about her parenting style and her job. Sarah expressed to me that she often lacks confidence when it comes to parenting because of how her parent s perceived her confidence growing up. She feels as though she can t make any mistakes for fear of judgment from her child one day. • 43. The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water are calculated. The development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient amounts of water for the refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this paper are to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement and to predict what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The questions that I intend to answer are: What is the current water usage of the refugee settlement in Mayukwayukwa? What is the minimum volume that will meet the basic requirements of the people in the refugee settlement? An accurate data set of water usage of the Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa is impossible to find as there have been no previous attempts to measure it for any reason. The total water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement is 64,240,000 Litres/Year. This total can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How far do you agree that the collectivisation of agriculture made an essential contribution to Stalin s transformation of the Russian economy? To a greater extent, I do agree that collectivisation was an essential contribution to stalin s transformation of the economy, for example, it helped increase production and with it came the increase in industrialisation. Although there were many clear failures with collectivisation, in purely economic terms, it was mainly successful. However, I also think, that to a certain extent, it was other factors such as the 3 5 year plans that helped transform the economy. Collectivisation was the process by which Russian agriculture was reformed, small farm were merged into larger units, in hope of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between 9.5 million and 10 million people were exiled due to dekulakisation. The kulaks were however the most talented of the farmers and with rapid liquidation of their kind, Stalin was in fact decreasing the efficiency of production. Others who were afraid of being labelled kulak and being handed the same fate, began to get rid of the new and best technologies in order to come across less like them. Figures show that grain harvests did in fact decrease, in 1928, they stood at 73.3 million tons whereas in 1924 they had decreased to 67.6 million tons. As well as this, peasants were being forced to meet unrealistic targets with little or no rewards. They no longer owned the land they worked on, or could sell the food they produced in order to gain profits to cover the production costs. This created resentment towards the government, rather than the joint revolutionary spirit Stalin had wished to conjure. Instead peasants began killing cattle and other livestock to prevent them from having to be turned over to the state, instead of increasing productivity this naturally stunted economic growth. Cattle, pigs, sheep and goats all decreased, for example, cattle herds decreased from 70.5 million head to 42.4 million head in 1934. Although collectivisation does show clear beneficial factors that contributed to Stalin s transformation of the Russian economy, there were also other factors which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
