Summary Of Paley s Teleological Argument Paley
In Paley s Teleological Argument , he argues that just like an object in the world has an intelligent
designer behind it, the universe most have an intelligent designer as well. This created must had
been God. That there s a designer force and that designer force is God. He argue that the
supernatural force created the way we act today, that the supernatural force( god) organized the way
the universe works, which makes an intelligent design( Paley 53).
I believe that anything that seems design has a creator, therefore Paley s argument has a valid
point. The world does not seem like it was just put there without any thought. But it looks
organized, like someone (god) sat there and thought about how to created and make it function, just

Male Pornography and Gender Roles
Introduction Pornography is an issue that has generated serious speculation; it has grown from a
state of insignificance to being a major social issue in most parts of the world. The period from
early 1960 s has been labeled as the modern pornography wave. It is a period that saw major
discussions in all aspects of the phenomenon from terminology, definitions, the level of sexual
content, the economic impact, and most importantly its effects. This paper seeks to address the
issue of pornography from the perspective of male participation, consumption, and the interrelated
issues. The paper includes a review of two articles; the first article is a scholarly article from a peer
reviewed journal, while the second one is a popular media... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky
applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors,
physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical
data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and
the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when
pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased;
instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries
to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to
pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of
pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky
(1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only
outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of
women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or
causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety
of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to
represent sexual crimes, as this

Marxist Theory And Psychoanalytic Theories
Marxist and Psychoanalytic Literary Theories in Action Marxist/Materialist Theory and
Psychoanalytic Theory are important theories in understanding individuals and societies. They
allow readers to understand how societies and individuals function and their motives. Marxist
/Materialist Theory mostly focuses on societies and different classes and the relationships between
the two. Psychoanalytic Theory focuses on the characters wants, needs, actions, and process of
thought that sometimes correlate with the author. While both have their flaws, they allow readers
to explore the deeper meanings in a text as well as connect the readers to their personal lives and
societies and fully gain greater understanding and knowledge. Marxist theory... Show more content

Lastly, Marxist theory would be beneficial to western/ historical novels that show the disputes
between people who are different socially which is what Marxist theory is meant to

because they explore the emotions. Freud would also agree that Psychoanalytic theory is helpful in
explicating romance novels because Freud main foundation for Psychoanalytic theory is on sex.
Psychoanalytic theory is useful in dystopian novels as well and almost any genre when a reader or
theorist uses it to understand the characters minds and motives when they, [apply] psychoanalytic
techniques to texts to uncover the author s hidden motivations repressed desires, and wishes

A Summary Of Blue Collar Brilliance By Mike Rose
A Summary of Blue Collar Brilliance by Mike Rose.
In his essay, Blue Collar Brilliance, Mike Rose reports that blue collar workers have a powerful
capacity to develop their jobs in order to get significant results, and it is not related to what level of
education those workers have. RoseВґs statements show narrative examples of how collar workers
are facing in their daily routine, how smart they are, and how those people give reasons to change
the thought of our society.
Rose begins with narrative examples of blue collar workers when he was growing up around of
their family. One of them is when his mother worked at a restaurant in Los Angeles (272). The
author declares that his motherВґs restaurant was a place where many blue collar workers had to
use their cognitive skills and some special movements with their body because they had to
minimize the needs of many customers who were there (274 275). ... Show more content on

routine and knowledge from this place (276 277). The Professor Rose says that Joe achieved
two big things that change his life. Joe discovered an idea that decreases the quantity of energy
that use the baking ovens with the same quality of the paint. Also, he achieved that many blue
collar workers didn t have the same routine daily, and Joe gave them much more time of a break
than before (277). Also, The Writer observes that his mother and uncle left school very earlier, but
they developed the intelligence that they needed to be successful in their jobs as blue collar
workers who never didn t get a high education

Sigmund Freud changed the way people look at the world within us. Sigmund was born on May

decided to join the medical faculty at the university. His studies included philosophy under Franz

Gil Scott Heron Essay
Gil Scott Heron BHSECQ Rahat Today, rap music is an ever growing genre of music that is
often centered on hedonistic pursuits such as wealth, cars, drinks, and fame. About forty years
ago, however, rap music focused on an entirely different subject matter. During the 1970s,
African Americans sung rap songs to express the need for Black empowerment in society;
though their form of singing was not called rapping back then, it was called spoken word poetry,
a form of song in which verses of poetry were performed with a fixed beat before an audience.
African Americans used this style of singing to express the discontent with the economics and
politics during the 1970s. The black population was still economically and politically powerless...

The context and setting of this rap is American in the 1970 s. Historically, this period came after
the Civil Rights Movement, during the start of the Nixon era. The Vietnam War was dividing the
nation s population into anti war protestors and those that supported the war effort. It was an era
of recession and continued change for minorities. One of the issues was enforced racial
integration after the Civil Rights Movement, which many institutions had still not complied with.
The struggle to find equality even after the movement was something African Americans at the
time had to deal with. The support for the black power movement was one of many results of
this struggle. The media and press largely did not report on the alienation that was still present.
This was an inspiration for Scott Heron and this song in particular. Factual References in The
Revolution Will Not be Televised Gil Scott Heron presents many references to the superficial
media and policies that were at the time ignorant of the struggle of African American integration.
His spoken word poetry describes these outlets of references before repeating the phrase The
Revolution Will Not Be Televised... to strengthen the claim that the consumer media is superficially
choosing to pretend that all was well when in fact a revolution was happening at their doorstep. A
selection of references will be analyzed from

The Standards Of Water Jump
Water Jump. I remember back 20 years ago when the ISO 900x standards were pushed heavily in
Eastern Europe s manufacturing economy, it was like reminiscent of a bank robbery during
daylight. Consulting certification companies were making tons of money and in return were
giving their clients a right to put label called ISO 900x. Around that time I was working as a
mechanical designer in a leading manufacturing factory and one day I witnessed an extremely
interesting conversation between part time 75 year young engineer and the head of the ISO
certification group that was converting our company into ISO 9000 certified. I happened during
informal 15 min break, when out of the blue, the engineer simply confronted the entire
certification process and called that we have been conned. He challenged the certification group
to present a standard that we may need and do not have. On every given example, he was able
quickly to point existing standard and the published reference as in a number of cases he went
back as 60 years to find the needed reference. In the end, he was able to build a strong case.
Eventually, the head of the certification group concluded: You know it, I know it, the rest of
people do not. Let s keep it that way . Fast forward 10 years to the agile revolution, when I
remembered how ecstatic people were in the software community. I remember many authors had
sold their software books on agile. When I checked, the majority of them had published just a few

Comparison Between Call Of Duty And Minecraft
Introduction I like to play video games because it gives me a rush when you do something right
or when you kill someone that your mission says to kill. Video games are also good for your hand

Minecraft. I like to playCall of Duty because you get to shoot and kill the bad people that are
trying to kill you, there is also always another mission for you to do. I like Minecraft because you
get to build things and create beautiful houses. You can also get the ability to care for virtual

The Causes And Effects Of The Detroit Race Riot Of 1967
Law and Disorder White Americans have discriminated against African Americans ever since the
first white men bringing with them their slaves set foot in what would become the continental
United States. America s roots lie in imperialistic expansionism during which white men took
advantage of those with a darker skin color whom they deemed unequal. The photograph of the
devastating aftermath of the Detroit RaceRiot of 1967 vividly captures the white Americans sense of
dominance towards the disenfranchised African Americans. Though the photo lacks an easily
identifiable original source, it has circulated around the internet and now serves as an epitome of
the voiceless black American community s stance in the wake of destruction against the rest of
America; it signifies what is still known as The Great Rebellion in Detroit, as the black Americans
expressed their rage against the failure of American institutions (Flock). The picture s illustration of
the rubble among the street, pillaged stores, and thick black clouds of smoke billowing into the sky
conveys the ruins that not only Detroit suffered, but also African Americans across America. The
graphic image depicts the inequality and oppression black Americans endured in the face of the
unscrupulous, corrupt white Americanempire. Ultimately, the photo represents United States as an
imperial country founded on racial hierarchy.
Racial divisions have plagued America throughout history. For example, during the 1960s, the

A Short Note On Saturn s Moon, Titan Essay
One of Saturn s moon, Titan, possess planetary conditions unique to the solar system. It has an
incredibly thick and organically rich atmosphere and a vast number of different liquid conditions.
The numerous ways in which its atmosphere and liquids interact results in the formation of a vast
array of different organic and prebiotic molecules, making it an excellent location for the possible
development of life, despite its frigid temperatures. Understanding how life could form on Titan
would give insight regarding not only how life formed on Earth, but also to how, what ways, and
what forms life could form on other planets with conditions dissimilar from Earth, opening up the
number of planets that could be seen as hospitable to life, as well as possibly expanding the search
for life to icy moons. Titan s atmosphere and liquid conditions, surface and subsurface, its
primordial conditions, as well as Titan s frigid subzero temperatures, all place limitations on and
give new opportunities to the formation of life in ways that resemble Earth s life, but more
frequently in ways entirely different, in chemical composition, general structure, and metabolism.
However, in some ways, Titan s conditions may be too unstable and harsh for the development and
survival of life.
Titan s atmosphere is one of the key points to the possibility of life developing on Saturn s largest
moon. Its atmospheric composition is 90 percent nitrogen and its second most abundant constituent
is methane.

Teachers Do Not Focus On Phonics
Introduction
There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation out there concerning how educators can teach
reading, spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common misconception is that teachers
do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to
teach phonics. So, what exactly is phonics in education? And, how can educators teach phonics and
the appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different words? This
essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers
can use to teach phonics effectively toward enhancing engagement and motivation of student
learning.
Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an
understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and
these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails phonemic
awareness or alphabet knowledge that is, converting various sounds in spoken dialect and
representing them in the written language. For children to learn to read and spell using phonics,
they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) and letters or letter
combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and patterns used in
different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing the relationship between
spoken language and written dialect. The

The Importance Of A Hydroponics And Aquaculture Gardening...
Investigation and Planning
When contemplating multiple concepts, I ended up deciding that my topic for my personal project
is building and maintaining an aquaponics garden. An aquaponics garden is the combination of
hydroponics and aquaculture. These terms simply refer to the soil less growing of plants, and the
raising and growing of fish in one system. Hydroponics and aquaculture combine together to
creating a single, thriving ecosystem. Aquaculture raises the fish that eventually become large
enough to be consumed by humans for nutritional value, and the gill bearing aquatic animals
provide the waste that the plants use as fertilizer. The soil less growing of plants means to use
gravel and the water combined with fish waste to support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Scientific and technical innovation is the global context that most precisely describes my topic.
When adopting the challenge of a fully functioning ecosystem, I questioned myself as to why I
would want to do this. What came to my mind constantly was the reoccurring thought of wanting to
help the environment. This subcategory explains that the impact of scientific advances is major on
the environment, and this was the original peak of my interest on my topic. The ability to make my
own ecosystem with the new advances stops the growing of weeds, the attack of pests on plants,
and back pain from gardening, Scientific innovation has eliminated the hassle of gardening, in
essence.
My prior knowledge on this topic and influences are extensive. My father first thought of wanting
to create a project he could do in his free time. He ended up pulling me into the task, and we
thought of an aquaponics garden. We both were infatuated with the idea, having both a heavy
interest in the science and agricultural field. The topic explored the depths of both of our minds
and our interests. This influenced me by thinking of how I could modify this project. This time I
would do it on my own and make a smaller model. Prior to creating my miniature model, I knew
what materials would be needed. Also, the knowledge of how

Scenario/Problem:
Jane is a busy and forgetful person and whenever she makes a cup (250mL) of coffee she puts it
down and by the time she remembers about the coffee, the beverage is no longer at a temperature

The problem that is being investigated is how to prolong the starting temperature of the beverage

The coffee is contained within a glass beaker and is surrounded by a jacket of water that has a

Consumer Culture Essay
Consumer culture is a fundamental part of many modern societies across the world, influencing a
wide a range of areas from politics to economics and identity. Consumption is viewed as
significantly powerful force in the economy and therefore understanding consumption and
consumer culture is a vitally important resource both for the benefit of the economyand the
individual. Consumer culture theory aims to understand the behaviours and attitudes of consumers
from a sociological perspective, as opposed the economic mindset in which consumer culture is
usually viewed. Consumer culture theory attempts this through understanding the relationships
between consumer actions, the marketplace, and cultural meanings (Arnould and Thompson, 2005).

Individuals use possession to create and maintain identity, however the identity an individual creates
through consumption of goods can not always be controlled (Friedman, 2005). An obvious example
being clothing, an individual may purchase clothing that they believe makes them look fashionable
but the items could in fact cause other to perceive them as unfashionable and out of date.
The value of items is created by consumers through the meanings they attach to said items.
companies can try to influence the meanings attached to items but the overall meaning and value
attached to items is by the individual (McCracken, 1986). This also means that different items can
have different cultural value and meanings to different individuals. some items may have no
external value but have very significant value to an individual, for example family heirlooms or

Transactional Strategies At New York University
Key Points The topic of Wade Boykin speech at New York University was academic success for all
students, but more specifically students of color. He discussed the documentation and evidence that
explains the achievement gap between students of color and their white counterparts. Boykin also
believes the evidence for why the gap exists should be the guide for implementing strategies,
inventions and programs to raise achievement. The evidence and research suggest that to raise
achievement the intervention should start with transactional strategies. Transactional strategies
involve the exchanges between teachers and students, classroom collaboration, and classroom
environment. The specific focuses of the transactional strategies are studentengagement, positive
self efficacy and teacher student relationship quality (TSRQ). Research shows that student
engagement leads to greater success for students of color in math and reading, instilling positive
self efficacy helps build confidence, perseverance and hold students accountable for their own
learning and teacher student relationships gives the opportunity for meaningful learning

It is also a major responsibility of leaders and workers in labs to ensure their Safety Data Sheets are

reading this chapter. It seems crazy to me that companies and people are legally required to have
Safety Data Sheets, but there are no laws regarding the accuracy of these sheets. Therefore, one of
my big takeaways from this chapter is to look for reliable Safety Data Sheets instead of always

??????????Crisis Concerning Graduate Students Wishing to Teach at a Collegiate Level
Opinionated points of view concerning the crisis with the shortage of PhD teachers exist, as well as
a serious possible decline of English studies in universities and small colleges. For instance, Bruce
McComiskey in English Studies: An Introduction to the Discipline(s) opens the door, demonstrating
his introductory focal point on a crisis within the English departments and the sub disciplines
(Composition, Literature, Linguistics, Theory and Criticism). In Transforming English Studies:

?In Transforming English Studies: New Voices in an Emerging Genre, Marcia A. McDonald quotes
Martha Nussbaum: Our campuses educate our citizens. ?Becoming an educated citizen means
learning a lot of facts and mastering techniques of reasoning. ?
But it means something more. ?It means learning how to be a human being capable of love and
imagination. [?] ?That is not ?po litcal correctness?; that is the cultivating of humanity. (14)

??This is exactly why I majored in English literature, and now being a new graduate student in
English studies? I wish to pursue my PhD so I can teach and serve humanity at a collegiate level.
?But where is the crisis? ??Is it possible that maybe it is at the discretion of the English department
that gets to decide who gets tenure, and who doesn?t or which discipline stays or to be removed
from the curriculum? ?I do believe that this is not the only reason why PhD teaching positions are
slim. ??From a bias perspective, for instance, McComiskey argues about his own situation in his
department at University of Alabama in Birmingham, ?When a department loses a Victorian prose
specialist or a Miltonist, that vacancy must be filled with another Victorian prose specialist or
Miltonist, since shifting periods or genres means more (under the present

Essay On The Recession
Institutions have been affected by the recession. These institutions sort new opportunities for
making profit and sustaining their activities. One type of institution that has been greatly affected
is the university institutions. These institutions have been affected, as a result, of cutbacks in terms
of funding by the state government attributed to the recessionthat caused economic turmoil in the
country. These cutbacks by the government affects universities countrywide resulting to them
reducing their own spending and finding alternatives that would help sustain them. Nobody State
University is one such university that has been struggling to increase its revenue (Malcolm
McMinn, 2013).
There are several options such institutions are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this might not be the case because of the fact that the price elasticity of offering
university education services has a very low elasticity of 1.2. This figure means that price changes
in terms of tuition fee would have a small effect in the overall application of student in the
university. Therefore, it would be clear to say that an increase in the tuition fee would result in
small change in the level of enrollment which would not affect the overall revenue generated by the
university, and this would rule out the hypothesis stated before (Amacher Pate 2013).
According to findings in other institutions, that have adopted this option, the increases in tuition
fees have actually raised the enrollment level of students in those universities (Kaminer, 2014). One
of the characteristics exhibited by this move of increasing tuition fees is that the overall number of
applicants for positions in the university will go down. However, universities counter this situation
by increasing the number of enrollments from the few who have applied spots in the university.
Therefore, the number of students actually ends up being high, and the institution increases its
overall revenue. There would be cases where the revenue remains the same such as the number of
students applicants goes really low and so the institutions would try to offset this situation by
enrolling more. The situation could worsen if the pricing is wrong where they would charge more

The Lake House
Pulling up to the lake house, I looked over at my older sister, Clara, who was busy staring
through the window of the old truck. Every year, my Dad s whole side of the family stays
together for a week every summer. Ever since I can remember, we ve stayed at this huge, old
lake house in Columbia, South Carolina. Clara and I hate being here. Strange things happen in
this house... plates fall out 5432wqof cabinets and voices echo in the house throughout the
night. Nevertheless, my grandparents still loved coming here and made us visit every year.
Clara, my Dad, and I are the last ones to arrive because our flight from Chicago was overlaid two
hours. I missed Chicago already, the constant buzz of people and the bright lights. Walking up to
the house, everything felt the same as it always did. The humidity is choking, making it hard to
breathe. The sun is blinding and the temperature is somewhere in the 90 s, as to be expected late
July in South Carolina. The lake smells like dead fish. Always, no matter what. We walked up
the old, wooden stairs. The light blue paint was chipping off the door, and the door itself looked
like it was about to fall of the hinges. Clara let herself in, pulling her lime suitcase behind her.
My two little cousins, Reagan and Matthew, immediately saw her and squealed with joy.
Everyone loved Clara, her bubbly personality easy to get along with. No one, on the other hand,
was ever excited to see me. I was the quiet one, overlooked by

Newsreels During The Second World War
Newsreels, five minute recordings depicting around four stories kept on a reel, were widely
produced across Western countries between approximately 1910 and 1967 (Boyer, 2015). In this
time, news corporations were founded and developed, and while this brought new possibilities to
broadcasting and documenting information, there were multiple limitations including cumbersome
equipment and censorship (Aspects of Britain; Broadcasting, 1993). This time also saw several
important historic events, such as the Great War later known as World War One 1914 to 1918, the
Spanish Civil War 1936 to 1939, and World War Two 1939 to 1945 (McKernan, 2000)
The first British newsreel was issued in June 1910; the weekly Pathe s Animated Gazette. By 1912,
it would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that newsreels before the beginning of the Second World War are useless as sources
for history, as their information gathering was mediocre and unreliable.
In the 1960 s, audio visual technology was becoming easier to manoeuvre and access. The
Vietnam War, dubbed The Living Room War , was the first war to be recorded and broadcast
directly into people s homes (Hallin, unknown), with televisions having been on the rise since the
1950 s (Television in the 1950 s, unknown). It is this rise of television that cause the newsreel to
become obsolete in 1967 (Schoenherr, 2008).
It appears from this analysis and these sources that newsreels are not a strong, reliable source for
history, due to a lack of policies, faked footage, cumbersome technology and other difficulties.
However, this is not to say that newsreels don t reflect values and trends of the time, or that
newsreels are completely useless. Without newsreels and their potentially unethical practices,
broadcasting news corporations such as the BBC would not have developed into the large, global
organisations that they are today. And, as with most history sources, newsreels can easily be used
as an easily accessible base before conducting further, cross referencing research, as is often used by

The Dynamite Club Summary
The Dynamite Club is a portrayal of fin de siГЁcle Paris and how a bombing in 1894, led to the
foundation of the age of modern terror. The author, John Merriman, focuses on a particular
individual, Г‰mile Henry, and how his motives for becoming an anarchist turned him into the first
modern terrorist. An anarchist is a person who believes in the abolition of government and the
organization of society. Anarchism is closely associated with terrorism due to the kinds of people it
attracts, mainly the poor. During the1850s 1900s anarchism was common because of poverty and
political exclusion; Henry saw this, causing his hatred to grow. To understand how Henry embraced
a violent form of anarchism, Merriman studied him using private journals, letters,... Show more

The second bombing took place in February of 1894, less than two years later from his first.
Henry was targeting the wealthy, fueled by extreme hatred of what they had and that so many
other people didn t. Henry wanted to throw the bomb into a crowd that would do the most
damage, he counted on fifteen dead and twenty wounded at the very least (Merriman 1). Henry
aimed for the Opera but was underdressed and wouldn t be able to make it past the guards, so he
went to CafГ© de la Paix. Since there weren t enough people to kill in there, he decided to go to
another, CafГ© AmГ©rican, which was not full enough either. He ended up at CafГ© Terminus.
Henry order two beers and a cigar, paying for them both, anarchist did not believe in theft, and
then waited for the place to fill up with the bourgeois. When the orchestra was halfway through
with their pieces, Henry got up, carrying his bomb with him. After taking a few steps outside,
Henry turned around, lit the cigar and threw his bomb inside the cafГ©. Although he only killed
one person at CafГ© Terminus, this particular form of violence was directed at random victims
simply for what they stood for. The motive for this bombing was brought about by hate, seeing
sharp contrast between the wealthy and those barely able to survive, not by personal connection or

Guilt In Steve Harmon s Monster Walter Dean Myers Monster
I m a monster. I m a monster. I m a monster . This is one of the many things Steve Harmon had

Monster. Steve faces a trial where he might charged with the murder of Aguinaldo Nesbitt. He is
on trial next to his supposed acquaintance James King and the Prosecution s attorney Sandra

In Monster Walter Dean Myersuses the appearances of Steve, Osvaldo, and the case itself to prove
the theme that not everything is as it seems.

Bobo had also continued on to say that they had seen Steve leave the store, as planned, before they

Humans Need to Belong
Belonging is at the core of the human condition. A significant individual can nurture or prevent a
sense of belonging in individuals, groups or communities and is a prevalent concept in the
autobiographies Romulus, My Father by Raimond Gaita and I know why the caged bird sings by
Maya Angelou, a story about growing up African American in 1930s. These texts explore how a
mentoring figure, an individual s insecurities and how confidence and self esteem in a community
can instil or prohibit a sense of belonging.
An individual s insecurities can prevent a sense of belonging in a community is an idea
demonstrated in Romulus, My Father through Christine. Social pressures of gender roles and the
barrenness feed an insecurity that is artificially relieved by longing for company and seducing men
to gain a sense of power and connection. However it further alienates herself My mother had other
lovers and he was tormented by jealousy... my mother and he quarrelled over her infidelities. The
use of vivid language tormented and quarrelled, highlight how her actions, result of her insecurities,
strain the relationship between her and Mitru. This also serves to characterise Christine in the early
chapters, as the villain and due to the autobiographical nature of this text, reflects Raimond s
disconnect to his mother. Therefore Christine and her insecurities prevent a sense of belonging
between her, Mitru and Raimond.

Research Paper On Charles Bukowski
Charles Bukowski grew up in the era of the Great Depression where money was scarce for many
average American families. His father did not have a stable job, and was thus deprived of his
masculinity. To revive this lost virility, Bukowski was physically and mentally abused by his
father for much of his childhood, and when he started to face normal teenage struggles, such as
acne, he began to question whether he was worthy of being loved, or worthy of anything at all.
These emotions led him to scribe passionate novels detailing his experiences while growing up.
Because of his difficult childhood, the tone in his novels is typically cynical and pessimistic. This
is common of Postmodern Cynicism books in which Bukowski s novels play a role. The... Show

Ham on Rye is interesting because it also portrays various aspects of Charles Bukowski s adolescent
life. Bukowski, as well as Chinaski, had to endure an excessive amount of misfortune in his
childhood. They both faced terrible bouts of physical abuse and acne that provoked a realistic
message about life and society. That is: though society may shape one a certain way, it is
necessary to know when to veer off that path to avoid becoming one of those who simply
conform. When Chinaski first started getting abused, his father punished Henry by forcing him
to mow the lawn with complete and utter precision. As Henry played street football with boys at
his school, Henry s father looked angry [so that Henry] could almost feel his anger. He was six
feet two and [...] he looked to be all ears, mouth and nose angry. I couldn t look in his eyes, (Ham
on Rye 66). One can readily see the confidence that Henry lost, especially because he was unable
to look in his [father s] eyes, (Ham on Rye 66). At a young age, Henry experienced hardships that
not even adults should have to live through, such as being whipped with a razor strop for the most
petty offenses. Henry was forced to grow up faster than those around him and learn that, the only
time most people think about injustice is when it happens to them, (Ham on Rye 89). It is
important that Henry realized that injustice was in fact being done, because this is how his moral
code developed. When he realized he was suffering, he learned that society is not

Japan And The United Kingdom
Japan and the United Kingdom have long been world powers and are now in the top 10 biggest
economies of the world; being third and fifth in the 2014 rankings. (Centre for Economics and
Business Research. 2015) However, both countries have been hit by a great economic crisis that
changed their economies deeply. Though it occurred on different time frames; 1991 to 2000 for
Japan and 2007 to 2012 for the United Kingdom, a lot of similarities can be found between the
causes that started both crises as well as between the development of these crises. However, not
everything is comparable so we can wonder, to what extent are the Japanese recession of the
1990s and the Great Recession of 2007 2012 similar? In order to answer this question and get a
full understanding of both periods, we will first look at the causes of the Great Recession, then
have a look at the causes of the Japanese lost decade and finally, analyse the similarities and
differences between the two crises. Japan saw its nation change in 1990 when the Japanese
economy stagnated. Indeed, between 1991 and 2003 the Japanese economy only grew 1.14%
(of GDP) every year. This is not enough when compared to other developed countries. (Yuji
Horioka, 2006). Alexander, A. J. (2000) states the facts that from the first quarter of 1990 to the
first quarter of 2000 the annual increase in real gross domestic product per capita barely exceeded
1 percent, making it very clear that Japan was in a recession. This is all the

The Development Of Children s Education
5 7 years:
This age group of children will have to go through a transition from nursery to school; reception
year, (where practitioners still follow EYFS) and then children move on to key stage one, (where
teachers follow the National Curriculum Key Stage 1). Children s education is still based on play,
however now children have a lot more of adult led activities in which they learn to concentrate for
longer periods of time. The environment in schools that surrounds children is more complex
because the children get to learn more, therefore some displays might contain bigger amount of
more complex mathematical language than we can find in a nursery setting. As children go into
key stage 1, it isn t the only environmental look that changes, the equipment is also more
complex and advanced because it is aimed for children that are now at a higher stage of
mathematical development. As I discussed earlier Early Years Foundation Stage changes and
becomes the National Curriculum Key Stage 1; the system changes a little bit and instead of
carpet time that children used to have in the nursery becomes a lesson . Some children in reception
might still work on their emergent mathematics. However, as they move up to Key Stage 1,
children begin to learn a lot more complex mathematics and it is not longer emergent because they
have passed this stage which should be fully achieved by now...
Children who did not go to the nursery might find it harder to learn in school and achieve their

Analysis Of The Article How A Cockpit Remembers Its Speed
One day after reading Hutchins How a Cockpit Remembers its Speed, I was on an airplane flying

and flaps that Hutchins described in his article I m happy to say I was able to give a
rudimentary description to my girlfriend as to what was going on as we took off and landed!
Hutchins argued that there are many representations that are inside the cockpit system, yet outside
the heads of the pilots (pp 267). This first point I agree with; however, he goes on in the
discussion to conclude that the cockpit systems remembers its speeds (pp 286). While Hutchins
and I agree that the pilots are the focal point of the cockpit, I wouldn t go as far as to say that
cockpit remembers its speed. The cockpit is certainly a complex system, with many elements

think that the amount of these deleterious effects would depend on the type of museum. While

Character Rank In Society in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer
The Canterbury Tales can be understood as a Chaucerian satire according many readers. Chaucer
sets out to deliberately upset the social order present at that time and to mock the faults present in
the characters. Although he baffles about the complexity of the characters, Chaucer also praises and
condemns characters for their unique qualities. Chaucer further gives us feedback of what actions
the characters are taking in their lives. Many of the pilgrims are headed off to Canterbury, to
worship the relics of Saint Thomas Becket. Thomas Becket was murdered by his friend King Henry

figure in society because he is a part of the wealthy class. Although he may seem unmoral
because being part of the wealthy class, Chaucer s perception is very different. Chaucer believed
he was a worthy man because he governed all [his] trade affairs well. (Lines 282 283) Chaucer
admires the way the Merchant handles his business, doing what it takes to get his job done. He

Ropes Course Reflective Thinking Reflection
Ropes Course Reflective Thinking Reflection
Often times it can be challenging when a group of random people is assembled together and
expected to work as a team. As anticipated, during the first weeks of college, I have encountered this

prime examples of this initial awkward predicament. Yet, accomplishing the ropes coursewith my
MOI group definitely tops the list. Although my MOI group had a lot of things in common, we

tasks. However, these challenges gave us ideal conditions to evolve from acquaintances to a
community of friends. But before we became a community, we needed to allow ourselves to be
clear and effective communicators and develop trustworthy relationships. The ropes course was
virtually impossible without proper communication. I consider myself to be a good communicator,
but the ropes course demanded a much higher level of communication. For example, one of our
first challenges involved us using two planks to move all fifteen of us from one platform to the
next. This test could really only be completed one way, but to figure out this one way involved a lot
of communication. After some group brainstorming, I finally wrapped my mind around how
bypassing this hindrance was even possible. Consequently, the next challenge was conveying the
plan to my peers. This required

I Am Sam Augment Essay I Am Sam is a film directed by Jessie Nelson, it describes the
relationship between a father Sam who has a mental capacity of a 7 year old and his daughter
Lucy. The film focused on Love and whether love is enough to raise a child. In our modern
society it seems that Money is the golden key to open the door to succuss, even though money
covers a significant part of care that is given to a child. There are still some part of areas that
money cannot for fill. Many parents made the mistake into thinking that a new born child is
harder the rise than a ten years old. Which is not the case in most of the times, whereas older
children can develop wilder interest come to a toddler. A child is learns from their parents and
they are lot alike. Where they will grow up and share the same ideology as everyone around
them, which in the child s best interest is to guide them to the right path, while still giving
freedom to the child. Where it was displayed clearly in the film between Rita s son and Sam s
daughter, the parenting style can easily be identified by seeing that Rita s son is... Show more

  • 2. Summary Of Paley s Teleological Argument Paley In Paley s Teleological Argument , he argues that just like an object in the world has an intelligent designer behind it, the universe most have an intelligent designer as well. This created must had been God. That there s a designer force and that designer force is God. He argue that the supernatural force created the way we act today, that the supernatural force( god) organized the way the universe works, which makes an intelligent design( Paley 53). I believe that anything that seems design has a creator, therefore Paley s argument has a valid point. The world does not seem like it was just put there without any thought. • 3. Male Pornography and Gender Roles Introduction Pornography is an issue that has generated serious speculation; it has grown from a state of insignificance to being a major social issue in most parts of the world. The period from early 1960 s has been labeled as the modern pornography wave. It is a period that saw major discussions in all aspects of the phenomenon from terminology, definitions, the level of sexual content, the economic impact, and most importantly its effects. This paper seeks to address the issue of pornography from the perspective of male participation, consumption, and the interrelated issues. The paper includes a review of two articles; the first article is a scholarly article from a peer reviewed journal, while the second one is a popular media... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors, physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased; instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky (1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to represent sexual crimes, as this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychoanalytic Theory focuses on the characters wants, needs, actions, and process of thought that sometimes correlate with the author. In his essay, Blue Collar Brilliance, Mike Rose reports that blue collar workers have a powerful capacity to develop their jobs in order to get significant results, and it is not related to what level of education those workers have. RoseВґs statements show narrative examples of how collar workers are facing in their daily routine, how smart they are, and how those people give reasons to change the thought of our society. Rose begins with narrative examples of blue collar workers when he was growing up around of their family. One of them is when his mother worked at a restaurant in Los Angeles (272). About forty years ago, however, rap music focused on an entirely different subject matter. During the 1970s, African Americans sung rap songs to express the need for Black empowerment in society; though their form of singing was not called rapping back then, it was called spoken word poetry, a form of song in which verses of poetry were performed with a fixed beat before an audience. African Americans used this style of singing to express the discontent with the economics and politics during the 1970s. The black population was still economically and politically powerless... The Vietnam War was dividing the nation s population into anti war protestors and those that supported the war effort. It was an era of recession and continued change for minorities. One of the issues was enforced racial integration after the Civil Rights Movement, which many institutions had still not complied with. The struggle to find equality even after the movement was something African Americans at the time had to deal with. The support for the black power movement was one of many results of this struggle. The media and press largely did not report on the alienation that was still present. This was an inspiration for Scott Heron and this song in particular. Consulting certification companies were making tons of money and in return were giving their clients a right to put label called ISO 900x. Around that time I was working as a mechanical designer in a leading manufacturing factory and one day I witnessed an extremely interesting conversation between part time 75 year young engineer and the head of the ISO certification group that was converting our company into ISO 9000 certified. He challenged the certification group to present a standard that we may need and do not have. On every given example, he was able quickly to point existing standard and the published reference as in a number of cases he went back as 60 years to find the needed reference. The Causes And Effects Of The Detroit Race Riot Of 1967 Law and Disorder White Americans have discriminated against African Americans ever since the first white men bringing with them their slaves set foot in what would become the continental United States. America s roots lie in imperialistic expansionism during which white men took advantage of those with a darker skin color whom they deemed unequal. The photograph of the devastating aftermath of the Detroit RaceRiot of 1967 vividly captures the white Americans sense of dominance towards the disenfranchised African Americans. Though the photo lacks an easily identifiable original source, it has circulated around the internet and now serves as an epitome of the voiceless black American community s stance in the wake of destruction against the rest of America; it signifies what is still known as The Great Rebellion in Detroit, as the black Americans expressed their rage against the failure of American institutions (Flock). The picture s illustration of the rubble among the street, pillaged stores, and thick black clouds of smoke billowing into the sky conveys the ruins that not only Detroit suffered, but also African Americans across America. It has an incredibly thick and organically rich atmosphere and a vast number of different liquid conditions. The numerous ways in which its atmosphere and liquids interact results in the formation of a vast array of different organic and prebiotic molecules, making it an excellent location for the possible development of life, despite its frigid temperatures. Understanding how life could form on Titan would give insight regarding not only how life formed on Earth, but also to how, what ways, and what forms life could form on other planets with conditions dissimilar from Earth, opening up the number of planets that could be seen as hospitable to life, as well as possibly expanding the search for life to icy moons. Titan s atmosphere and liquid conditions, surface and subsurface, its primordial conditions, as well as Titan s frigid subzero temperatures, all place limitations on and give new opportunities to the formation of life in ways that resemble Earth s life, but more frequently in ways entirely different, in chemical composition, general structure, and metabolism. However, in some ways, Titan s conditions may be too unstable and harsh for the development and survival of life. • 14. Teachers Do Not Focus On Phonics Introduction There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation out there concerning how educators can teach reading, spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common misconception is that teachers do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to teach phonics. So, what exactly is phonics in education? And, how can educators teach phonics and the appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different words? This essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers can use to teach phonics effectively toward enhancing engagement and motivation of student learning. Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails phonemic awareness or alphabet knowledge that is, converting various sounds in spoken dialect and representing them in the written language. For children to learn to read and spell using phonics, they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) and letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing the relationship between spoken language and written dialect. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This time also saw several important historic events, such as the Great War later known as World War One 1914 to 1918, the Spanish Civil War 1936 to 1939, and World War Two 1939 to 1945 (McKernan, 2000) The first British newsreel was issued in June 1910; the weekly Pathe s Animated Gazette. This suggests that newsreels before the beginning of the Second World War are useless as sources for history, as their information gathering was mediocre and unreliable. In the 1960 s, audio visual technology was becoming easier to manoeuvre and access. The Vietnam War, dubbed The Living Room War , was the first war to be recorded and broadcast directly into people s homes (Hallin, unknown), with televisions having been on the rise since the 1950 s (Television in the 1950 s, unknown). It is this rise of television that cause the newsreel to become obsolete in 1967 (Schoenherr, 2008). It appears from this analysis and these sources that newsreels are not a strong, reliable source for history, due to a lack of policies, faked footage, cumbersome technology and other difficulties. However, this is not to say that newsreels don t reflect values and trends of the time, or that newsreels are completely useless. Without newsreels and their potentially unethical practices, broadcasting news corporations such as the BBC would not have developed into the large, global organisations that they are today. And, as with most history sources, newsreels can easily be used as an easily accessible base before conducting further, cross referencing research, as is often used by ... The author, John Merriman, focuses on a particular individual, Г‰mile Henry, and how his motives for becoming an anarchist turned him into the first modern terrorist. An anarchist is a person who believes in the abolition of government and the organization of society. Anarchism is closely associated with terrorism due to the kinds of people it attracts, mainly the poor. A significant individual can nurture or prevent a sense of belonging in individuals, groups or communities and is a prevalent concept in the autobiographies Romulus, My Father by Raimond Gaita and I know why the caged bird sings by Maya Angelou, a story about growing up African American in 1930s. Bukowski, as well as Chinaski, had to endure an excessive amount of misfortune in his childhood. They both faced terrible bouts of physical abuse and acne that provoked a realistic message about life and society. That is: though society may shape one a certain way, it is necessary to know when to veer off that path to avoid becoming one of those who simply conform. When Chinaski first started getting abused, his father punished Henry by forcing him to mow the lawn with complete and utter precision. As Henry played street football with boys at his school, Henry s father looked angry [so that Henry] could almost feel his anger. Though it occurred on different time frames; 1991 to 2000 for Japan and 2007 to 2012 for the United Kingdom, a lot of similarities can be found between the causes that started both crises as well as between the development of these crises. However, not everything is comparable so we can wonder, to what extent are the Japanese recession of the 1990s and the Great Recession of 2007 2012 similar? In order to answer this question and get a full understanding of both periods, we will first look at the causes of the Great Recession, then have a look at the causes of the Japanese lost decade and finally, analyse the similarities and differences between the two crises.
