XML is brilliant, and pervasive. If you are a translator, chances are you have used it in a) files for translation, b) tools for translation, c) life. No need for a mad scientist hat to get the gist of it! For goodness sakes, you speak another natural language (a whole organic system that not even Chomsky has cracked) and you are afraid of a little bit of markup code? Come see what the fuss is about (is worth it!) and keep in mind XML "spell and grammar checkers" are off the charts! (Imagine if English teachers could say the same!)
Introduction to Html.
Introduction to Html tags and css by Ankitkumar Singh.
In this presentation we are going to look at html and it's tags with complete examples.
Learn the building blocks of the web: HTML.
In this lesson we go over the basics of HyperText Markup Language so you can begin designing your first web page! For more information visit www.computermentors.org
80% of the end-user response time is spent on the front-end. (YSlow Team)
By following these best practices we can have a great impact over the performance of our sites and applications.
In these slides we will go through some best practices related to performance, semantics & accessibility and patterns for better maintainability and readability which is gold when collaborating.
In the second part of the slideshow we will share some tips on how to pick the best layout available, create the slices with optimization in mind, master the basics and stay organized form the beginning with your CSS code.
Beg, Borrow or Steal: The Art of Flashing Without Flashingspjwebster
HTML5 is awesome. Well, it will be awesome when it\'s finally ready. Probably.
The bad news is that by the time the W3C have finished monkeying with HTML5, I\'ll probably have given up on the web as a whole and taken up meat goat farming.
The good news (for you, me and the goats) is that there\'s no need to wait for a lot of the functionality that HTML5 promises; we can start using them right now. In this session I\'m going to show you how you can steal these features from the Flash Player and use them in your standards-based sites or applications, without even a sniff of Flash on the page.

C202: HOW TO: Making the HTML5 Video Element Interactive
The HTML5 Video element has now become widely used by browsers and supported in a broad set of websites for streaming video content. With some JavaScript and CSS, we can leverage the HTML video element to create highly interactive experiences for the viewer in both traditional and mobile browsing environments. This hands-on session explores the integration of events with the video timeline, creating positioned hotspots with links and dynamic content, and capturing user input. In addition, the session examines supporting mobile platform browsers along with future opportunities with the HTML5 video tag. Get sample code, ideas, and best practices for making the HTML5 video element an engaging interactive experience for your viewers.

http://natbat.net/2008/Sep/28/css-systems/ - A CSS System is a reusable set of content-oriented markup patterns and associated CSS created to express a site's individual design. It is the end result of a process that emphasizes up-front planning, loose coupling between CSS and markup, pre-empting browser bugs and overall robustness. It also incorporates a shared vocabulary for developers to communicate the intent of the code. This talk elaborates on this concept, and also describes a number of tricks I use to pre-empt maintainability issues.
Originally presented at BarCamp London 5 in Richmond on the 28th of September 2008.
about this presentation:
1) this presentation was a quickie for non-tech employees, who wanted a basic understanding of html/css, as it related to a white-label SAAS product;
2) the back-end/front-end definitions relate to the specific application (it's inaccurate if node.js is in the picture)
The Great State of Design with CSS Grid Layout and FriendsStacy Kvernmo
For far too long we've been forced to reuse layout patterns that have worked in the past, creating a web full of sites that all look the same. Narrow timelines, browser support restrictions and lack of a true grid system have led us to create work that is "good enough".
I've spent years exploring how we can make the web a more unique space. With some of the newer CSS techniques available, we can start to make more creative designs. CSS Grid Layout is on the horizon and will play a major role in the design of our sites. Finally having a true, 2 dimensional grid will give our layouts much more flexibility and it is on us to explore the possibilities.
This talk was presented at CSS Day 2016.
HTML5: Smart Markup for Smarter Websites [Future of Web Apps, Las Vegas 2011]Aaron Gustafson
Everyone’s going gaga over HTML5 and the plethora of how-tos and demos available on the web are inspirational, but often leave us with more questions than answers. In this session, Aaron Gustafson will focus his attention on HTML5 as a markup language, provide you with a solid context for its enhanced semantics, and show you simple, effective ways you can put it to use on your site today.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Why You Should Replace Windows 11 with Nitrux Linux 3.5.0 for enhanced perfor...SOFTTECHHUB
The choice of an operating system plays a pivotal role in shaping our computing experience. For decades, Microsoft's Windows has dominated the market, offering a familiar and widely adopted platform for personal and professional use. However, as technological advancements continue to push the boundaries of innovation, alternative operating systems have emerged, challenging the status quo and offering users a fresh perspective on computing.
One such alternative that has garnered significant attention and acclaim is Nitrux Linux 3.5.0, a sleek, powerful, and user-friendly Linux distribution that promises to redefine the way we interact with our devices. With its focus on performance, security, and customization, Nitrux Linux presents a compelling case for those seeking to break free from the constraints of proprietary software and embrace the freedom and flexibility of open-source computing.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
