Evolution Of Warfare
The evolution of the United States military and the notion of warfare can be traced back to the 1600s
in Early America. The military has developed from a small militia to the world s greatest within a few
hundred years. In order to understand the changes in warfare, history, and the American way of war,
the beginning must be understood. The Colonial period is one of the best examples because it was the
period in which organized militias were constructed as a primary means of defense. The resulting
colonial militia laws required every able bodied male citizen, usually between the ages of 16 and 45,
to participate and were responsible for equipping themselves with weapons. These units were utilized
for small military operations which included seizing land, defending themselves, and being prepared
for emergency service. Militia units became the backbone of the American ... Show more content on

A popular weapon used by both sides was the rifle. Rifles were invented before the Civil War and
were greatly used in the War of 1812. However, more types were built and a larger amount were used
during the Civil War. The weapon that was responsible for the most deaths was the Springfield 1861.
Due to the inaccuracy of the weapon, it was usually used in massed fire tactics which is when a large
number of soldiers are firing simultaneously at the same target. The idea behind that tactic was since
the rifle was not very accurate, they would fire simultaneously to fill the air with large amounts of
lead. This shower of lead would cause the enemy to panic and retreat. Like many other wars, the
militia was also utilized during the Civil War. Militias generally increased in size, but still generally
stayed within the boundaries of their local jurisdictions and were required to provide their own
weapons. A militia rifleman typically carried his rifle, knife, and hunting pouch that held shooting

Gospels Essay
The new testament contains four (4) accounts of the story of Jesus life, death and resurrection as
presented by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, The 3 accounts are similar, while Johns bible presents Jesus
in a unique way. These differences exist because Matthew and Luke got their information from Mark
and John got his information from another source, maybe John did not have access to the other
gospels or he chose not to use them. No one really knows the source of John s gospel and we don t
know for sure who wrote the gospels. Scholars refer to the authors as Matthew, Mark, Luke amp;
John, this may not even be their real names. The Gospel were not first hand accounts except for Mark.

Statement was translated to mean that when Christians were forced with the question of whether
gentiles Christians should still practice the special Jewish food (kosher) laws or could Gentiles eat
what they wished (non kosher) and this would not make them unclean and unacceptable as members
of the early Christian community.
This means that during the second stage many of Jesus sayings were not simply treated as things to be
memorized. They were to be used as living words that would eventually guide Christian communities
in all new situations. Third Stage: The oral traditions about Jesus were written down. If Marks gospel
was already being used, why would Matthew and Luke want to write their respective Gospels as well?
Each of the Gospels were written for a special group of Christians and for a specific purpose. In
Matthew s gospel we often find the phrase quot; All its took place to fulfill through the prophet... quot;,
introducing a quotation from the Old Testament. This suggests that Matthew is speaking to people
who consider the Old testament to be very important and who are wondering how Jesus fits into
history of the Jewish people. This problems means that Matthew s community was largely Jewish
Christian and needed to be reassured that being a Christian did not separate then from the Jewish
heritage.
In Marks Gospel it does not contain many Old Testament quotations. Mark was not

`` Declaration Of Principles `` By Charles Foster Kane
Charles Foster Kane strived for the public s adoration and for them to worship him. In trying to
achieve the public s appreciation and idolization, Kane buys the New York Inquirer. Kane publishes
what is called declaration of Principles . In this declaration of principles Kane states he will not with
hold anything from his readers and be truthful. Kane believes that with being honest that he will earn
the readers trust when other newspapers are hiding the true details from them. Orson Wells leads the
audience to believe that Kane craves this attention and desire for worship due to his childhood. Kane
was forced to leave home at a young age to pursue better opportunities as an adult. One evening on his
way to find his youth Kane runs into a beautiful young woman named Susan Alexander. Kane
instantly adores Susan for her innocents, her unfulfilled childhood desires and the ability to laugh
through the pain of a tooth ache. Kane is surprisingly shocked that Miss Alexander does not recognize
him for who he is; however she reassures him that she still likes him. Susan is all giggles about Kane
being splashed in the face with muddy water by a passing vehicle. This endears her to him almost
instantly. That first night Susan confides in Kane, informing him of her longing about singing or rather
how her mother wanted her to sing. Bringing to light how both seemed unhappy with their childhood;
due to their mother s dreams and expectations. Kane was very manipulative

Professional Registration and Licensures
The last ABET presenter was Mr. Tom Little, P.E. He is a retired city engineer who shone light upon
the significance of continued education and professional licenses. Little is an NDSU graduate and
hails from a rural community near Bismarck, ND. Although he did not get the best grades throughout
college, his hard work in the industry made him successful. He has also worked with Kansas State
Highway Commission for a few years until he became an engineer for the City of Grand Forks in
North Dakota. After six years in Grand Forks, Tom held the position of City of Mandan Engineer,
where he retired upon 30 years of service. As an NDSU alumni, Tom Little enlightened us about the
advantages, challenges and goals of a prospective NDSU graduate. He reminded us that we have

of the specific expertise you choose. As a Civil Engineer, one should really understand the
significance of these two licensure exams. The professional license also is required for any and all
advancements in an engineer s career. These F.E. and P.E. licenses must be pursued right out of
college as the study mentality is still fresh in our student minds according to Tom. Attaining the P.E.
license has so many positives associated with it. With a brief video testimony of engineers, Tom
reinforced his point about the importance of licensures. From my understanding, I should acquire a
P.E. licensure because it conveys to potential employers that my skill set has been independently
verified and can be applied straight to the field. P.E. showcases my desire of continuing education and

Union Supporting Toronto Garbage Collection Employees...
The report will present a case between union supporting Toronto garbage collection employees against
the city of Toronto. With the current situation where strike action has been in place, approximately
28,000 employees will be off work. Unfortunately, communication on the both side has not been
successful and an arbitration has been arranged to hear the proposition of both sides and to come with
a possible solution to prevent further action which could cost the city in many ways. The purpose of
this report is to understand the process on how the negotiation especially in a more legal environment
collective bargaining happens. The negotiation is at the stage of arbitration. First part will brief the
negotiation and bargaining process. Role play gives a feel of live experience in the learning
environment where each participant will address their responsibility and self reflection is presented
throughout the report. The aim is to decide on the starting positions and the bottom lines, or lowest
point of each party will accept the deal. Consider the objectives and emotional motivation of each
party. Listen to a sequence of proposals and possible counter proposals. Negotiations Being successful
at negotiating requires one to consider the various styles: win win, win lose, lose win, lose lose, no

The Irreverence Of Impressionism In Modern Art
Impressionism was considered irreverent and ghastly for its incomplete appearance, lack of
refinement, and academic disregard toward an established art community during the late 1800s.
Although an outpouring of attention was given to dissidents from traditional styles, artists such Edgar
Degas, Claude Monet, and eventually Mary Cassatt pressed forward to showcasing Impressionism as
it became widely accepted across Europe and in America (About.com, 2014). The purposeful absence
of clarity instilled by Impressionism provides an onlooker with a lasting sense for contemporary life,
subtle landscapes, and an opportunity to embrace a new revolution. Impressionism challenged
enthusiasts surrounding Classical through Romantic period works with a sense of bewilderment when
contrasting these timeless works to the first, true, and a modern art style that diverges from the norm.
Impressionism is no longer considered irreverent or ghastly among academics or enthusiasts although
a contrast is required among modern admirers of the Romantic period and Impressionist works. ...

Achieving the surreal effect composed from Impressionism is accomplished by a technique some
onlookers describe as licking the canvas (About.com, 2014). The broad strokes, light colors, single
lighting creates a less refined work that less refined or almost dream like appeal. In all, Impressionism
captures the essence of every day life or a landscape for the viewer to retain longer due to its
insufficient clarity. Le Figaro by Mary Cassatt is fine example of the surreal effect presented by

Inequality And Inequality Of Income Distribution
Inequality of Income Distribution in the United States Today, the average income of the richest 10% is
14 times that of the poorest 10% in the United States. Famous economist Milton Friedman argues that
this inequality gap would eventually spur people to work harder and boost productivity. Others, who
are not that optimistic, argue that the income inequality leads to a growing level of inequality of
opportunity. For that reason, six in 10 Americans now say that only a few people at the top have an
opportunity to advance. Looking at both of the perspectives, we see that different people s attitudes
towards fairness and equality are different. However, it still does not change the fact that income
inequality is not at the desired range to have positive consequences, which makes it a huge problem. A
recent study points out that different economic systems function best with different levels of inequality
and under current circumstances, the inequality range that will lead to positive consequences for the
U.S. economy is between the Gini coefficients of 0.25 and 0.35. This is an efficient range, because it
addresses notions of fairness that have been supported by each side. Throughout the history, major
events and technological shifts have been the greatest drivers of income inequality. During the times
of wars and disasters, people demanded less inequality to be able to support themselves. On the other
hand, use of fossil fuels further expanded the inequality gap. Today, these

Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory Of Identity
According to Freud the id is unconscious by definition:
It is the dark, inaccessible part of our personality, what little we know of it we have learned from our
study of the dream and of course the construction of neurotic symptoms, and most of that is of a
negative character and can be described only as a contrast to the ego. We approach the id with
analogies: we call it a chaos, a cauldron full of seething excitations. ...It is filled with energy reaching
it from the instincts, but it has no organization, produces no collective will, but only a striving to bring
about the satisfaction of the instinctual needs subject to the observance of the pleasure principle.(1) In

Foreign Market Entry Modes Essay
Why do companies entry foreign Markets? A company may be looking to increase profits and sales.
They can accomplish this by creating new markets in foreign countries or they may increase sales in a
foreign market that is growing faster than the domestic market. Companies also go abroad to protect
their home market. By challenging a competitor in their own market it may prevent that competitor
from challenging a company in its own home market. Thirdly, companies may be going abroad in
search of lower production costs or in search of a guaranteed supply of raw materials. (Ball, Geringer
et al. 2010) When a company decides to enter a foreign market there are several entry options
available. The options include exporting, licensing, joint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Opposite to market concentrators, market spreader companies take a more active approach to export
marketing, have a greater focus on sales objectives, and tend to focus less on profitability. The markets
are small and niche markets. Unlike market concentrators, these companies have a greater tolerance to
risk. (Katsikea, Theodosiou et al. 2005) When a company licenses a product or service one firm (the
licensor) will grant to another firm (the licensee) the right to use any kind of expertise such as
manufacturing processes (patented or on unpatented), marketing procedures, and trademarks for one
or more of the licensor s products. (Ball, Geringer et al. 2010) The amount of control a company has
over their product will vary based on the agreement. Granting a license to an unrelated party will offer
the least amount of control where a license can be granted to a wholly owned subsidiary allowing a
company to retain control over the product or service. (Hill, Hwang et al. 1990) An advantage of
licensing is the licensee bears much of the startup costs and the costs associated with selling in the
foreign market unless the licensee is a wholly owned subsidiary which the cost will ultimately be the
responsibility of the parent company. (Hill, Hwang et al. 1990) The risk associated with licensing to
another company that is not wholly owned is by allowing a foreign enterprise to use firm specific

The Banning Of Movies On Lgbt, Religion, Laws, And History
The recent banning of movies with the reason of them containing homosexual contents have started a
wave of ridicule of authorities and their justification. Over the years, several movies were banned in
the United States for the same reason as well. Such examples include American Beauty, But I m a
Cheerleader, Rent, Brokeback Mountain, and Bruno. Besides movies, anything and everything else on
the media have been closely monitored by the authorities. Authorities in certain countries, especially
Middle Eastern countries, have even gone to the lengths of labelling homosexuality as illegal by law.
This not only affects the thinking of citizens of those countries, but also oppress people that identify as
LGBTQ in those respective countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the word homosexual is a socially constructed word. According to Creech, sexuality was
only explored towards the end of the 19th century through psychoanalysts as they believed that
sexuality helps understand human personality better. All in all, The Bible encourages a loving, mutual,
caring, committed relationship . Understanding this, churches are beginning to grow more accepting
towards the LGBTQ community (Murphy).
Indic religions, or Dharmic religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, do not express strong opinions
on homosexuality. In fact, a third gender is mentioned in an ancient Hindu legal text called Manu
Smriti. This excerpt explains the third gender as such:
A male child is produced by a greater quantity of male seed, a female child by the prevalence of the
female; if both are equal, a third sex child or boy and girl twins are produced; if either are weak or
deficient in quantity, a failure of conception results (3.49).
The third gender is also defined as not procreative according to The Vedas, a Hindu scripture.
However, it is viewed negatively as the third gender is usually affiliated with low class as described in
ancient text (Gyatso). Interestingly, members of the third sex are not frowned upon even though some
ancient Hindu law books describe non vaginal sex as impure. Kama Sutra, a Hindu text that describes

Analysis Of Hills Like White Elephants
The short story Hills like White Elephants written by Ernest Hemingway contains lots of hidden
meaning and symbolism. It is almost crpytic and engimatic.
The story is hard to understand at first and then you start to realize that there is a much deeper
meaning to the story. One has to read the entire story until the end to understand what is going on,
then a second time to fully and completely comprehend the hidden meaning behind the dialogue in
this short story. The story Hills like
White Elephants at the surface seems to be a simple story and contains straightforward dialogue, but
all of it can be analzyed and we can see that there s is a much deeper meaning behind it all. The girl
named Jig suggests that the hills look like white elephants. Which is a reference to the saying the
white elephant in the room . The saying the white elephant in the room means that there is something
that everyone knows about and there is almost a sense of tension in the air. As if there was a white
elephant in the room, everyone knows it is there but no one wants to talk about it. One example of a
white elephant situation is where a family member crashed a car, but at dinner that night no one
speaks of it, but that s whats on everyone s minds. The entire short story seems to reference that there
is something that is going to happen to the girl but it is by her choice. At first glance it seems like she
is going to do something irreversible as implied in the lines ...And once they take it away you can
never take it back . Whatever she is about to do is going to change her life forever. And this choice she
is going to make creates tension between her and the man, which I assume is her lover. It is clear he
wants to go forward with it, he keeps telling her how simple it is and how We ll be fine afterwards,
just like we were before . From everything said in the story, we can conclude that it is an abortion she
is going to have. The way the girl speaks she seems to be very anxious and nervous. She wants to try
different alchoholic drinks and continues to make suggestive, implicative small talk. Jig seems to be
very unsure of her choice, and her lover is very encouraging of her decision

Comparing Women In Tannen And Gray
First, Communication is different in many ways between men and women when the two are
communicating the woman may say something one way and the man could take it in a completing
different way. Consequently, that is how people of different sexes can get into alterations of anger or
not talking to one another. She may say something and mean it completely one way and he will take it
another way. Nonetheless, learning how to talk to one another is key to a relationship. In the articles,
Tannen and Gray have many things that are the same and for them to learn how to talk to one another
would make things between men and women so much better. Nevertheless, Women have expectations

Causes Of The German PeasantsRevolts
The crop failure of the early sixteenth century created intense economic and later physical warfare
between the German peasantry and that of the princes and nobility. However, it was the oppression
and unjust laws created by such authorities later that actually initiated the riots and plundering done by
the peasants on the property of the nobles. This aggression, backed originally by Lutheran principles,
led to several mixed responses by both Germanic nobles and religious figures. By the end of the
German Peasants War, the economic conditions of such peasants did moderately change, however, it
was the lay rulers and other religious figures that benefited, authoritatively, from the rebellion.
Furthermore, the main cause of the German peasants revolts was that of the oppression by lords and
princes in conjunction with coerced serfdom that was occurring during this time. As seen in Document
Two, Sebastian Lotzer, a lay preacher, acknowledges the true start of the revolts as the oppression felt
by peasants to complete their dues without proper compensation. This representation of unjust
treatment is communicated by the spokesmen of all peasants, the Peasant Parliament, which states that
the peasants would not reject authority if such is fair and reasonable . This call for an end to serfdom
is realized in Document Eight when Lorenz Fries, an advisor to a noble, has an epiphany that the
oppression done by the nobles will lead to a troublesome outcome . This author is

A Christmas Present, By Richmal Crompton
A Christmas Present Review
Christmas, is the most wonderful time of the year. A time for family, friends, and food. Stories of the
year are shared by all, for the children stories of Christmas are told. Frosty, Rudolf, Mr. Scrooge, and
James Penguin are all fairly classic Christmas stories known by most. Here is a new one to add to your
Christmas collection. A Christmas Present by Richmal Crompton. This story takes place in the home
of John Clay and his wife Mary s aunt and uncle s, but her aunt happens to be deaf. Mary is a quiet
woman, fond of silence as she reads by the fireplace.
Unfortunately, her husband John Clay can t stand the silence he often talks just to hear his own loud,

Death of a Salesman vs. Tragedy and the Common Man
It makes little sense that tragedy should only pertain to those in high ranks. As explained in his essay
Tragedy and the Common Man, Arthur Miller establishes the pattern for his own notion of a tragedy
and the consequent ramifications for the tragic hero. This pattern supports the central idea that a
tragedy can occur for characters who are common men as well as those in high places. Throughout his
paper, Miller demonstrates that it should be possible for every reader to be able to identify with the
tragic hero. Miller redefines tragedy as more common occurrence than what might happen in tragedies
such as portrayed by Shakespeare and other classical writers, thus defining Death of a Salesman as a
tragedy.
Willy Loman is a tragic hero. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Willy, like traditional tragic heroes, possesses a tragic flaw. The possibility of victory must be there in
tragedy (Miller, Tragedy and the Common Man ). Setting aside Willy s tragic flaw, there is also a
certain amount of hope and optimism that Willy might change. If there is a possibility of bringing an
element of hope into this play, there is also a conceivable possibility of change. Change is the
compelling force without which there would be no hope. And with change comes a reasonable
possibility of victory. Throughout this entire play, Willy lives by the credo be well liked. Someday I ll
have my own business, and I ll never have to leave home any more... bigger that Uncle Charley!
Because Charley is not liked. He s liked, but he s not well liked (Miller, Death of a Salesman 30)
Willy finds this untrue as he increasingly makes less and less money on business trips. Howard, and
now I can t even pay my insurance! You can t eat the orange and throw away the peel! A man is not a
piece of fruit (Miller, Death of a Salesman 82) Willy, however, refuses to change his view of the world
and therefore is destined to continue his struggle upstream.
What makes this play tragic for me, though, is that Willy does not change. It is sadly his tragic flaw
that brings about this failure. His unwillingness to submit passively to the established order and values
is his demise. He has a set idea in his mind about how he wants to be and

Oodgeroo Noonuccal Essay
Oodgeroo Noonuccal an Australian aboriginal poet and fighter of Aboriginal rights
In my essay I will present an Australian poet from the 20th century who after having discovered her
aboriginal roots had even changed her name and became an activist for the Aboriginal rights.
Oodgeroo Noonuccal was born as Kathleen Jean Mary Ruska on 3 November 1920 on North
Stradbroke Island in South East Queensland. Kath was a descendant of the Noonuccal people of
Minjerribah. Her totem was Kabool the carpet snake, who could not be eaten by his people. She talks
about this in her poem Ballad of the Totems. The young Kath was strongly influenced by her parents.
Her mother, Lucy McCulloch was one of the stolen generation . At the mission school she was not
taught to read or write, of which she bitterly resented, because the nuns taught her to be useful to wash
clothes, cook, clean and iron in order to work as a domestic servant in a white household. She ... Show

Her first collection was published in 1964 as We are going. Her poetry had an easily understandable
style and had strong political protest elements in it already from the beginning. Her second poetry
collection, The Dawn is at Hand , was published by Jacaranda in 1966. A third collection, My People:
A Kath Walker Collection, contained poems from the first two collections, and in later editions added
new poems and essays.
During the 1960 s not only her reputation as a poet developed but she also became increasingly
engaged in the political sphere.
Although loyal to these organisations, Walker was not convinced they could provide answers to
Australia s deep seated racism towards Aborigines. Her quest for fundamental political solutions to
Indigenous disadvantage soon propelled her into the orbit of the Communist Party of Australia and the
Union of Australian Women, both of which she joined in these

Analyzing The Demand Of The Bidders And Auction Results
Nyborg et al (2002) conduct their study by analysing the demand of the bidders and auction results in
Swedish Treasury auctions during uncertainty at the time of when the bidding occurs. They find that
bidders respond to uncertainty in three separate ways; as uncertainty increases, bidders reduce the
price levels at which they want to bid, they reduce quantity demanded and bidders also increase
bidding dispersion amongst the same bond. Nyborg et al also deem auction size to be a less important
factor than price uncertainty in how it influences the bidders behaviour even though as the auction size
increases, bidders increase their individual demands. They also suggest that cautious bidding involves
both a reduction in prices and a reduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ahmad and Steeley (2007) further examine a type of price discovery in the bond market review the
types of markets there are, i.e. primary or secondary bond market, by specifically examining the
secondary market. Their objective is to review the secondary market pricing behaviour of U.K bond
auctions by using an event study to test the statistical significance of auctions on the secondary market
bond prices. In their event study, they use the price movement that is associated with a level change in
the zero coupon yield curve as an appropriate benchmark.
Whilst running the regressions on the cumulative average abnormal returns (they refer to them as
CAR( x, x) ) they focus on three scenarios found in earlier yield drift testing, which takes place during
6 days before the auction, on the auction day and up to 8 days after the auction (CAR( 6, 1), CAR(0,0)
and CAR(+1,+8)). They find there is a negative average return in the post auction period. They also
find the most significant variables in explaining bond prices, from their regression modelling, are the
cover and size of the auction.
There is also a positive association between the cover variable and the pre auction CAR, which means
that the greater the demand for gilts at an auction, the greater the abnormal returns. Cover and post
auction CAR are negatively associated showing that the greater the excess demand at an auction, the
smaller the

Charles Perrault Research Paper
Charles Perrault was born into a middle class family in France in 1628. Charles also received a law
degree in 1651. Cinderella was one of the first stories that was written for children. Before that
children would just read adult literature. Cinderella or the little glass slipper by Charles Perrault is a
folk tale embodying a myth element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward. It is thought that Perrault
mistakenly wrote that Cendrillon s slipper was made from glass (Charles perrault, 2006). The French
words glass (verre) and fur (vair) are very similar so it is thought that a mistranslation led to the
inclusion of the famous glass slippers (Cinderella; or, The Little Glass Slipper, 2003.). Perrault

Perches are very important for Congo African Grey parrots as they spend most of their time on them,
when they are not flying. The perches should be of varying diameters, though for a primary perch, the
Congo African Grey parrots feet should wrap about ¾ of the way around the perch. Perches set on
opposite ends of the aviary or cage without obstacles in the way is a good idea as it allows for flight.
The perches should be made of varying materials (such as branches from safe trees such as fruit trees,
rope). The perches should be situated so that the parrot s tail does not hit the bars. Perches should not
be situated to allow access to the food and water dishes, but not over them, as this can cause hygiene
issues.
Congo African Grey parrots are social creatures, they need company of their same breed. To stop
breeding same sex birds can be kept together, or it can be discouraged by not providing a nesting box.
Veterinary advice should be sought if there is any help needed to stop the birds breeding. Along with
company, the Congo African Grey parrot needs plenty of space to fly freely.
Congo African Grey parrots are incredibly intelligent birds, they need plenty of stimulation in the
form of interactive toys, puzzles, bells, and varied bird safe toys to keep them entertained. The toys
and puzzles should be sturdy enough and large enough for the Congo African Grey parrot to play with,
without it breaking or being swallowed. Toys and

Women In Dr. Pepper Advertising
Jane Austen once wrote, I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of
rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives (Quotes by...). This quote was
written in her novel, Persuasion, in 1818, 195 years before a Dr. Pepper ad was made. Back in 1818,
women were all taught to follow the rules that society put on them. They had to be classy and proper
at all times or else they were not considered feminine. The same idea still goes on today. We all have
to all like the same things and act the same way. It is a shame we have not progressed much in making
women and men be treated the same since 1818. These Dr. Pepper ads use women to get consumers to
buy their products by using techniques that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They wanted to spread words about the product and have everyone at least know what it is. They both
have the constraint of offending people. Women could take the ad from 1979 and say it is sexist
because they are using a woman to try and market a product. It is a very common occurrence to use
women in that way because they are using an image of an ideal woman. Putting a strong handsome
man in this ad instead of a woman would change the entire dynamic. If that were the case, men would
be less inclined to go buy Dr. Pepper because it would make them feel like they were buying the drink
to be like the man on the cover. With the ad from 2013, I think the ad makers knew they were going to
offend women, but they probably thought that they would take it more of a joke. Is Dr. Pepper really
appealing to men here, or are they just having fun and looking for a lot of free media attention?
Women being treated less than men is not a funny joke. I think in today s time, those topics should not
be joked about because women are treated different from men and this is still a pressing issue. We
want to move toward gender equality, and ads like Dr. Pepper are setting us back on getting to that
goal. Dr. Pepper got what they wanted; people are talking about their ad and the product, but maybe
not in the way they

All about Databases
Databases, we use them most of the time in our lives from organising files to storing music on our
computers.
What are databases?
Databases are an organised way of storing data.
Before computers many databases were stored in paper folders. The disadvantage of this was that
searching for files was very time consuming.
Now that we have computers life has become much easier for people. We are able to store lots of data
through software, allowing people to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A simple way to show the uses of flat file databases are using spread sheets. Looking at the table
above the rows contain particular information about the person and the columns contain the different
categories, this is known as the field.
What are the benefits of Flat file databases?
The main benefits of using a flat file data base is that they are easy to setup. This means that you don t
need expert knowledge on PCs to understand how to use them. They are also easy to understand as
they have a simple design and layout. Users can access information from them simply when you have
small amounts of data.
What are the negative of using a flat file database?
One of the main negatives about flat file databases are that data is often repeated as there is no
referential integrity. Referential integrity means that there is a direct link of two different attributes in
a database. This helps the computer understand that certain data does not need to be repeated
continuously. Without this, to be able to change information about a particular person or item, then
you have to update each entry you have made about the item. This can also be very time consuming.
Another negative about flat file databases is that you can make errors that can cause many problems
with finding information. Looking at the example below, this table shows the number of purchases a
single customer has

Connotation Of The Duchess Of Malfi
Nathan Patnam Doctor Natalie Grinnell English 201 28 April 2016 Connotation of Widow in The
Duchess of Malfi In Webster s play, The Duchess of Malfi , the Duchess of Malfi is not trusted by her
two brothers. The Cardinal and Ferdinand are worried that the Duchess will marry someone when they
leave to go to Rome, which could jeopardize their ties to the Duchess s inheritance when she dies.
Although the Duchess reassures them both that she will not remarry, Ferdinand and The Cardinal
continually to threaten the Duchess. In one instance Ferdinand threatens the Duchess with their father
s dagger, which not only shows the amount of distrust Ferdinand has for his own sister, but also shows
the power that Ferdinand believes he wields as a man in a patriarchal society. Furthemore, towards the
end of Act I, Ferdinand calls the Duchess a lusty widow even though she has not done anything lustful
(I. ii. 313). The aggressive nature and attitude display by the Duchess s brothers raise the question of
how badly were widowed women viewed in society at this time? To show why Ferdinand and the
Cardinal are so distrustful of their widowed sister, Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet written in 1615,
Arraignment of lewd, idle, orward, and unconstant women, will be used to show how widowed
women were viewed by society. From using this definition parallels can be drawn between the actions
of a typical widow and the Duchess. In Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet, Swetnam writes about how

Beliefs And Achievements Of Alexander The Great
Throughout history, there have been many individuals who were able to change not only their
countries but also the surrounding world, by their beliefs and through their achievements. An
achievement is a thing done successfully by skill, courage or strength. One of these influential
individuals was Alexander the Great, an ancient Macedonian king, who had many beliefs and
achievements which had negative effects on the world around him. Alexander the Great changed the
world with his beliefs and achievements that negatively affected the parts of the world he influenced.
Alexander the Great had many beliefs and achievements that changed the world around him, such as
his belief in the conquering of and spread of Greek culture in many nations, and his later achievement
of that belief and goal. He believed he could unite the world as one nation, which he did not do, but in
the process, he was able to spread Greek culture through the many nations he conquered. In Document

theater remain[ing] cultural influences in the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East for 900 years

creation of the Hellenistic Era. It unified many nations just as he wanted to, it s said that he said he

Essay On Obedience In A Few Good Men
Obedience is a concept that many people have instilled into them in some form from a young age.
This act of listening to someone that is in a higher standing than oneself takes many different forms in
a person s life, but obedience can quickly evolve when in dangerous territories such as Guantanamo
Bay, Cuba. The role that obedience plays in this becomes much more important when faced with life
or death situations. The film, A Few Good Men, directly explored and elaborated upon this topic. This
movie features characters such as Lt. Daniel Kaffee, Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway, Capt. Jack Ross,
LTJG Sam Weinberg, and Colonel Nathan R. Jessep who were played by: Tom Cruise, Demi Moore,
Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak, and Jack Nicholson respectively. Directed by Rob Reiner, this film
centered around the court case of Lance Corporal Dawson and Private First Class Downey when they
supposedly acted upon orders in punishing a fellow officer with a code red , which resulted in the man
s death. This incident occurs at a military base that is stationed within yards of the border. In A Few
Good Men, the setting plays a major part in how the events of the crime play out: the danger that the
men feel, and the authority which the situation places upon men all play into the factor of how
obedience lead to this man s death.
Finding oneself in the face of danger is something that many people experience throughout their lives,
though the levels of danger range drastically from person to person.

both Pap and Jim. He cared about his son and pushed him away. Huck too longed for a father figure.
Huck finds a father figure in Jim (Slyman , Paragraph 8 Pg. 1). Jim loved his family, he wanted to

Ministry Of Love
Nineteen Eighty Four is one of the most famous dystopian novels written by George Orwell in 1949.
This novel depicts a desperate society where the public is manipulated by the government coercion.
Although this novel is fictional, but we have seen many scenes depicted in the novel come true in
some countries around the world. Under government coercion, the protagonist Winston lives a
miserable life with no freedom even in his own thoughts, because everyone is forced to believe what
the government told them instead of developing their own thoughts. However, Winston is different
from the crowd because he has a rebel heart. He holds his independent thinking, and refuse to accept
the party s brainwashing procedures. Winston knows the potential ... Show more content on

From Winston s response to O Brien s questions in the previous paragraph, it is demonstrated that he
is determined in the revolution, and he is not afraid of anything but losing Julia. Winston is tortured in
the Ministry of Love, but the torture only destroys his body, his mind is never destroyed. It is the same
for all the prisoners in the Ministry of Love. However, when the prisoners are told that they will be
taken to room 101, they all appear desperate and mentally destroyed. When the skull faced man is told
that he will be sent to room 101, he cried Comrade! Officer! You don t have to take me to that place!
Haven t I told you everything already? What else is it you want to know? There s nothing I wouldn t
confess, nothing! Just tell me what it is and I ll confess straight off. Write it down and I ll sign it
anything! Not room 101! (Orwell 298). The fact that he would do anything to prevent himself from
going to room 101 illustrates the anticipation of going to room 101 destroys their mind. The man is
starved for weeks, but he would rather be starved to death than taken to room 101 (Orwell 299).
Winston witnesses the man s desperation, and it builds up his fear of being sent to room 101.
Therefore, Winston asks O Brien what is in Room 101? in fear, and O Brien s answer adds up to his
fear You know what is in Room 101, Winston. Everyone knows what is

Persuasive Essay On Solar Energy
New York and California: two of the nation s largest states by population, have estimated that by the
year 2030, power companies will get fully fifty percent of their electricity from renewable energy
sources. Solar power is a type of renewable energy that produces energy by collecting sunlight given
from the sun. Not only does sunlight maintain the earth s temperature and sustain life for plants
through the process of photosynthesis, it also provides energy to many commercial businesses as well
as the homes of many Americans. Unlike fossil fuels, solar power provides a clean form of energy
without harmful greenhouse gases. Solar energy is very easily obtained, renewable, and emits no
harmful greenhouse gasses. As a result of these factors, some researchers claim developing solar
panels on a large scale around the United States would be very beneficial in many ways. On the
contrary, other experts claim that developing solar panels on a large scale would be catastrophic for
utilities due to the fact that solar energy systems and utilities are competitors. Solar energy systems
should be implemented in the United States because they are renewable, beneficial to the
environment, abundant, easily obtained, cost effective, and they provide jobs for many Americans.
In modern day, both nonrenewable energy and greenhouse gasses have become a major issue across
the United States. Fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas, are nonrenewable energies that account for
most energy needs.

My Life Of My High School Life
During the last four years of my high school life I came across a number of different teachers, all of
them together had different styles of teaching and some were more positive than others. Be that as it
may, despite the different characters that wanted to mentor me and those who care not too there were
three women who gave of them self and did their best to teach a young Black girl a few extra things.
Distinguished from their co workers it showed me just what a great teacher is. The individual will
from the start be open minded, compassion, patience, kindness, and is one that is creative. The
individual loves to teach, is truthful and honest about all things. In their own way they have a great
sense of humor. Dedication comes easy to these type of teachers, and one will found that they are
always eager to provide every student with a smile. In addition a student will found it easy to approach
this type of teacher and the student will found themselves easily becoming friends with the teacher. I,
myself found it to be great and healthy to be friends with one of my teacher because I could trust the
individual. To me this is what makes this person, teacher, so remember able. Always keeping in mind
respect is to be given to the individual that is in charge, not just keeping them as friend. There are a lot
of teachers who been taught in a way to almost provide fatherly or motherly love, compassion to their
pupils. Overall this type of characteristic is what

How Did The Founding Fathers Maintain Religious Freedom In...
After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair
and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to have
was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British control the
church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of
england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the colonists very
much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again in their newly
established country. While writing the constitution the founding fathers said Congress shall make no
law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. When they said
this they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason is that it was tyrannical and against our unalienable rights to have a religion forced
upon us, one that a lot of people may not believe in, but they would still be forced to worship and
participate in church activities. This would no longer be a free country if we were forced to attend a
church. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make
decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute
power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives. The founding fathers wanted to
steer clear of all possible future tyranny which is why they created this separation of church and state
and freedom of religion. This was the best way to create a fair and just government for this new
country they just fought for to keep. If we did not have separation of church and state then I would not
be a free man writing this essay and I would most likely be forced to delete all of

  • 2. Evolution Of Warfare The evolution of the United States military and the notion of warfare can be traced back to the 1600s in Early America. The military has developed from a small militia to the world s greatest within a few hundred years. In order to understand the changes in warfare, history, and the American way of war, the beginning must be understood. The Colonial period is one of the best examples because it was the period in which organized militias were constructed as a primary means of defense. The resulting colonial militia laws required every able bodied male citizen, usually between the ages of 16 and 45, to participate and were responsible for equipping themselves with weapons. These units were utilized for small military operations which included seizing land, defending themselves, and being prepared for emergency service. Militia units became the backbone of the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A popular weapon used by both sides was the rifle. Rifles were invented before the Civil War and were greatly used in the War of 1812. However, more types were built and a larger amount were used during the Civil War. The weapon that was responsible for the most deaths was the Springfield 1861. Due to the inaccuracy of the weapon, it was usually used in massed fire tactics which is when a large number of soldiers are firing simultaneously at the same target. The idea behind that tactic was since the rifle was not very accurate, they would fire simultaneously to fill the air with large amounts of lead. This shower of lead would cause the enemy to panic and retreat. Like many other wars, the militia was also utilized during the Civil War. Militias generally increased in size, but still generally stayed within the boundaries of their local jurisdictions and were required to provide their own weapons. A militia rifleman typically carried his rifle, knife, and hunting pouch that held shooting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These differences exist because Matthew and Luke got their information from Mark and John got his information from another source, maybe John did not have access to the other gospels or he chose not to use them. No one really knows the source of John s gospel and we don t know for sure who wrote the gospels. Statement was translated to mean that when Christians were forced with the question of whether gentiles Christians should still practice the special Jewish food (kosher) laws or could Gentiles eat what they wished (non kosher) and this would not make them unclean and unacceptable as members of the early Christian community. This means that during the second stage many of Jesus sayings were not simply treated as things to be memorized. They were to be used as living words that would eventually guide Christian communities in all new situations. Third Stage: The oral traditions about Jesus were written down. If Marks gospel was already being used, why would Matthew and Luke want to write their respective Gospels as well? Each of the Gospels were written for a special group of Christians and for a specific purpose. In Matthew s gospel we often find the phrase quot; All its took place to fulfill through the prophet... quot;, introducing a quotation from the Old Testament. This suggests that Matthew is speaking to people who consider the Old testament to be very important and who are wondering how Jesus fits into history of the Jewish people. This problems means that Matthew s community was largely Jewish Christian and needed to be reassured that being a Christian did not separate then from the Jewish heritage. In Marks Gospel it does not contain many Old Testament quotations. Mark was not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Irreverence Of Impressionism In Modern Art Impressionism was considered irreverent and ghastly for its incomplete appearance, lack of refinement, and academic disregard toward an established art community during the late 1800s. Although an outpouring of attention was given to dissidents from traditional styles, artists such Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, and eventually Mary Cassatt pressed forward to showcasing Impressionism as it became widely accepted across Europe and in America (About.com, 2014). • 9. Inequality And Inequality Of Income Distribution Inequality of Income Distribution in the United States Today, the average income of the richest 10% is 14 times that of the poorest 10% in the United States. Famous economist Milton Friedman argues that this inequality gap would eventually spur people to work harder and boost productivity. Others, who are not that optimistic, argue that the income inequality leads to a growing level of inequality of opportunity. For that reason, six in 10 Americans now say that only a few people at the top have an opportunity to advance. Looking at both of the perspectives, we see that different people s attitudes towards fairness and equality are different. However, it still does not change the fact that income inequality is not at the desired range to have positive consequences, which makes it a huge problem. A recent study points out that different economic systems function best with different levels of inequality and under current circumstances, the inequality range that will lead to positive consequences for the U.S. economy is between the Gini coefficients of 0.25 and 0.35. This is an efficient range, because it addresses notions of fairness that have been supported by each side. Throughout the history, major events and technological shifts have been the greatest drivers of income inequality. During the times of wars and disasters, people demanded less inequality to be able to support themselves. On the other hand, use of fossil fuels further expanded the inequality gap. Today, these ... One has to read the entire story until the end to understand what is going on, then a second time to fully and completely comprehend the hidden meaning behind the dialogue in this short story. The girl named Jig suggests that the hills look like white elephants. Which is a reference to the saying the white elephant in the room . The saying the white elephant in the room means that there is something that everyone knows about and there is almost a sense of tension in the air. As if there was a white elephant in the room, everyone knows it is there but no one wants to talk about it. One example of a white elephant situation is where a family member crashed a car, but at dinner that night no one speaks of it, but that s whats on everyone s minds. The entire short story seems to reference that there is something that is going to happen to the girl but it is by her choice. At first glance it seems like she is going to do something irreversible as implied in the lines ...And once they take it away you can never take it back . Whatever she is about to do is going to change her life forever. And this choice she is going to make creates tension between her and the man, which I assume is her lover. It is clear he wants to go forward with it, he keeps telling her how simple it is and how We ll be fine afterwards, just like we were before . From everything said in the story, we can conclude that it is an abortion she is going to have. The way the girl speaks she seems to be very anxious and nervous. She wants to try different alchoholic drinks and continues to make suggestive, implicative small talk. Jig seems to be very unsure of her choice, and her lover is very encouraging of her decision ... This included, and still includes to this day The Stick . The Stick is a long piece of wood with a omni directional microphone attached to the bottom of it with duct tape. This is slammed against the stage by John Flansburgh (or in the early 90 s, a fan from the audience) to a repetitive beat over which Linnell would play the baritone saxophone, or keyboards to their song Lie Still, Little Bottle while Flansburgh sang. An even more bizarre backing track can be found on a 1989 bootleg live recording from a West German performance of the B Side Stormy Pinkness , in which Linnell instructs the audience to stomp on the floor in ¾ time while chanting the word Love! . • 21. Causes Of The German PeasantsRevolts The crop failure of the early sixteenth century created intense economic and later physical warfare between the German peasantry and that of the princes and nobility. However, it was the oppression and unjust laws created by such authorities later that actually initiated the riots and plundering done by the peasants on the property of the nobles. This aggression, backed originally by Lutheran principles, led to several mixed responses by both Germanic nobles and religious figures. By the end of the German Peasants War, the economic conditions of such peasants did moderately change, however, it was the lay rulers and other religious figures that benefited, authoritatively, from the rebellion. Furthermore, the main cause of the German peasants revolts was that of the oppression by lords and princes in conjunction with coerced serfdom that was occurring during this time. As seen in Document Two, Sebastian Lotzer, a lay preacher, acknowledges the true start of the revolts as the oppression felt by peasants to complete their dues without proper compensation. This representation of unjust treatment is communicated by the spokesmen of all peasants, the Peasant Parliament, which states that the peasants would not reject authority if such is fair and reasonable . This call for an end to serfdom is realized in Document Eight when Lorenz Fries, an advisor to a noble, has an epiphany that the oppression done by the nobles will lead to a troublesome outcome . • 24. Death of a Salesman vs. Tragedy and the Common Man It makes little sense that tragedy should only pertain to those in high ranks. As explained in his essay Tragedy and the Common Man, Arthur Miller establishes the pattern for his own notion of a tragedy and the consequent ramifications for the tragic hero. This pattern supports the central idea that a tragedy can occur for characters who are common men as well as those in high places. Throughout his paper, Miller demonstrates that it should be possible for every reader to be able to identify with the tragic hero. Miller redefines tragedy as more common occurrence than what might happen in tragedies such as portrayed by Shakespeare and other classical writers, thus defining Death of a Salesman as a tragedy. Setting aside Willy s tragic flaw, there is also a certain amount of hope and optimism that Willy might change. If there is a possibility of bringing an element of hope into this play, there is also a conceivable possibility of change. Change is the compelling force without which there would be no hope. And with change comes a reasonable possibility of victory. Throughout this entire play, Willy lives by the credo be well liked. Someday I ll have my own business, and I ll never have to leave home any more... bigger that Uncle Charley! Because Charley is not liked. He s liked, but he s not well liked (Miller, Death of a Salesman 30) Willy finds this untrue as he increasingly makes less and less money on business trips. A man is not a piece of fruit (Miller, Death of a Salesman 82) Willy, however, refuses to change his view of the world and therefore is destined to continue his struggle upstream. They find that bidders respond to uncertainty in three separate ways; as uncertainty increases, bidders reduce the price levels at which they want to bid, they reduce quantity demanded and bidders also increase bidding dispersion amongst the same bond. In their event study, they use the price movement that is associated with a level change in the zero coupon yield curve as an appropriate benchmark. Whilst running the regressions on the cumulative average abnormal returns (they refer to them as CAR( x, x) ) they focus on three scenarios found in earlier yield drift testing, which takes place during 6 days before the auction, on the auction day and up to 8 days after the auction (CAR( 6, 1), CAR(0,0) and CAR(+1,+8)). They find there is a negative average return in the post auction period. They also find the most significant variables in explaining bond prices, from their regression modelling, are the cover and size of the auction. There is also a positive association between the cover variable and the pre auction CAR, which means that the greater the demand for gilts at an auction, the greater the abnormal returns. Back in 1818, women were all taught to follow the rules that society put on them. They had to be classy and proper at all times or else they were not considered feminine. The same idea still goes on today. We all have to all like the same things and act the same way. It is a shame we have not progressed much in making women and men be treated the same since 1818. They wanted to spread words about the product and have everyone at least know what it is. They both have the constraint of offending people. Women could take the ad from 1979 and say it is sexist because they are using a woman to try and market a product. It is a very common occurrence to use women in that way because they are using an image of an ideal woman. Putting a strong handsome man in this ad instead of a woman would change the entire dynamic. If that were the case, men would be less inclined to go buy Dr. Pepper because it would make them feel like they were buying the drink to be like the man on the cover. With the ad from 2013, I think the ad makers knew they were going to offend women, but they probably thought that they would take it more of a joke. Is Dr. Pepper really appealing to men here, or are they just having fun and looking for a lot of free media attention? Women being treated less than men is not a funny joke. Connotation Of The Duchess Of Malfi Nathan Patnam Doctor Natalie Grinnell English 201 28 April 2016 Connotation of Widow in The Duchess of Malfi In Webster s play, The Duchess of Malfi , the Duchess of Malfi is not trusted by her two brothers. The Cardinal and Ferdinand are worried that the Duchess will marry someone when they leave to go to Rome, which could jeopardize their ties to the Duchess s inheritance when she dies. Although the Duchess reassures them both that she will not remarry, Ferdinand and The Cardinal continually to threaten the Duchess. In one instance Ferdinand threatens the Duchess with their father s dagger, which not only shows the amount of distrust Ferdinand has for his own sister, but also shows the power that Ferdinand believes he wields as a man in a patriarchal society. Furthemore, towards the end of Act I, Ferdinand calls the Duchess a lusty widow even though she has not done anything lustful (I. ii. 313). The aggressive nature and attitude display by the Duchess s brothers raise the question of how badly were widowed women viewed in society at this time? To show why Ferdinand and the Cardinal are so distrustful of their widowed sister, Joseph Swetnam s pamphlet written in 1615, Arraignment of lewd, idle, orward, and unconstant women, will be used to show how widowed women were viewed by society. • 45. Persuasive Essay On Solar Energy New York and California: two of the nation s largest states by population, have estimated that by the year 2030, power companies will get fully fifty percent of their electricity from renewable energy sources. Solar power is a type of renewable energy that produces energy by collecting sunlight given from the sun. Not only does sunlight maintain the earth s temperature and sustain life for plants through the process of photosynthesis, it also provides energy to many commercial businesses as well as the homes of many Americans. Unlike fossil fuels, solar power provides a clean form of energy without harmful greenhouse gases. Solar energy is very easily obtained, renewable, and emits no harmful greenhouse gasses. As a result of these factors, some researchers claim developing solar panels on a large scale around the United States would be very beneficial in many ways. On the contrary, other experts claim that developing solar panels on a large scale would be catastrophic for utilities due to the fact that solar energy systems and utilities are competitors. Solar energy systems should be implemented in the United States because they are renewable, beneficial to the environment, abundant, easily obtained, cost effective, and they provide jobs for many Americans. In modern day, both nonrenewable energy and greenhouse gasses have become a major issue across the United States. My Life Of My High School Life During the last four years of my high school life I came across a number of different teachers, all of them together had different styles of teaching and some were more positive than others. Be that as it may, despite the different characters that wanted to mentor me and those who care not too there were three women who gave of them self and did their best to teach a young Black girl a few extra things. Distinguished from their co workers it showed me just what a great teacher is. The individual will from the start be open minded, compassion, patience, kindness, and is one that is creative. The individual loves to teach, is truthful and honest about all things. In their own way they have a great sense of humor. Dedication comes easy to these type of teachers, and one will found that they are always eager to provide every student with a smile. In addition a student will found it easy to approach this type of teacher and the student will found themselves easily becoming friends with the teacher. I, myself found it to be great and healthy to be friends with one of my teacher because I could trust the individual. To me this is what makes this person, teacher, so remember able. Always keeping in mind respect is to be given to the individual that is in charge, not just keeping them as friend. There are a lot of teachers who been taught in a way to almost provide fatherly or motherly love, compassion to their pupils. Overall this type of characteristic is what ... • 47. How Did The Founding Fathers Maintain Religious Freedom In... After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to have was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British control the church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the colonists very much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again in their newly established country. While writing the constitution the founding fathers said Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. When they said this they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first reason is that it was tyrannical and against our unalienable rights to have a religion forced upon us, one that a lot of people may not believe in, but they would still be forced to worship and participate in church activities. This would no longer be a free country if we were forced to attend a church. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives. The founding fathers wanted to steer clear of all possible future tyranny which is why they created this separation of church and state and freedom of religion.
