Giovanni Boccaccio Research Paper
Giovanni Boccaccio Heaven would indeed be heaven if lovers were there permitted as much
enjoyment as they had experienced on earth is a quote stated by the respected author, Giovanni
Boccaccio. This quote must be representing his strong emotions for his young love. Giovanni
Boccaccio is an Italian poet and scholar, known from early tales and works written with his friend,
Petrarch. Giovanni Boccaccio s writings were influenced greatly by the black death, his personal life
in Naples and the historical events that occurred in Florence. Shortly after Giovanni Boccaccio began
writing, the black plague ravaged through Florence and affected 25% to 50% of the population. Due to
his experiences during the Black Death, he wrote The Decameron, ... Show more content on

Giovanni fell in love with a woman named Fiammetta, which encouraged him to write another famous
writing named, Filocolo. This was a romance inspired by her that retells the story of two noble lovers.
Another work that is said to be his way of preceding his love for her is the Caccia di Diana. This is
about beasts being hunted by the fairest ladies, they invoke the goddess Venus who transforms the
beasts into young, faithful men. At the end, the narrator is added in and is offered to the fairest lady.
This is Boccaccio s way of displaying his feelings to Fiammetta. Then, his father soon got appointed
to the head of the Neapolitan branch. The Neapolitan branch was a high rank in his bank. Boccaccio
was sooner introduced to the society of the court at Naples. He met a variety of people, such as
scientists, theologians and the men of letters. He studied many different cultures and topics. He
learned the environment of Naples that inspired him to write. He studied mythology, astronomy, the
Greek language and it s culture. His visitor, the Calabrian monk Leonzio, was the one who induced
him to translate homeric epics and taught him the culture and language of greek. This knowledge then

Boosting Employee Morale and Productivity in the Workplace
Introduction
For many, going to work is not just a job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Can employee morale and productivity be boosted in the work place through various program
incentives? I am proposing that a process be introduced which recognizes individual as well as team
contributions through other means. It has been noted in several readings and throughout companies
that employees with high morale are more productive than those unhappy counterparts. This is also a
way to reduce the cost associated with recruiting and training of new employees replacing those who
lack productivity and morale.
The basic principles of human motivation are a constant. Many employees in companies throughout
pride themselves on a new school approach to employee satisfaction issues. Years ago (and still for
some) the idea of if you don t like it than quit still exist but through the use of the items identified, that
approach wont be necessary. An overwhelming number of surveyed employees have the thought that
this way still exist at many companies. To gain a better understanding of how to motivate employees
to boost morale, management must first understand the basic human needs associated. Many of the
needs are best represented by Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Pyramid.
Many employers achieve satisfying the first level of needs identified as the physiological through
compensation. The income earned by employee is what is used to take care of needs such as food,
shelter, utilities

Coercive Interrogations And The Elicitation Of False...
COERCIVE INTERROGATIONS AND THE ELICITATION OF FALSE CONFESSIONS
The effectiveness of the coercive methods used in modern interrogation lack rigorous scientific
consideration and have been accepted without satisfactory scrutiny. Previous studies on alternative
methods of interrogation are underdeveloped and sparse, as scope exists to reform current practices to
ensure that interrogation processes (are) ecologically valid and focused on the correct processes. This
essay posits that the accusatorial Reid Model of interrogation is ineffective insofar as it employs
coercive practices that have been empirically proven to elicit false confessions. The problematic Reid
Model is juxtaposed against an alternative non coercive information gathering approach to highlight
the superiority of this method in its ability to elicit true confessions. This essay emphasises the
challenge for future research to continue to deconstruct the validity of coercive techniques to
encourage reform that promotes more effective non coercive methods.
In examining the foremost interrogation methods used, this essay will utilise the distinction drawn by
Meissner et al between information gathering and accusatorial approaches as a means to highlight
coercive practices within interrogations. The accusatorial method uses psychological manipulation in
order to establish control of a suspect and achieve confession. This method is typified by the approach
of the United States through their use of the

Stress Paper
The main stressors in my life are school, and disturbed sleep pattern related to stress and hectic
workload. Some common coping mechanisms to relief the stress that I researched and found to be
effective, were, deep breathing, yoga, proper nutrition, and time management. These are just a few of
the many stress coping mechanisms that I researched and thought they fit best with my active lifestyle,
and interests.
The first of my stressors is school; school is a stressor because it is more demanding than it was in
past years there it is now asking more from me along with all my other responsibilities. School takes
up a lot of time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another coping mechanism for my disturbed sleep pattern is time management according to an article
from College teaching talked about a Research project looking at how students spend their time
between work, school, and social interaction, They had the students keep a time diary to keep track of
their day to day activity. It showed that most of any given day was spent on social interaction and then
working due to finical strains and the least on schoolwork and activities (Hanson, T. L., Drumheller,
K., Mallard, J., McKee, C., Schlegel, P. 2011). This time diary is a great way for me to see where my
time is spent and allow my to cut out or at the least cut down on unnecessary time spent doing things
that are not related to schoolwork or work which will allow me to better manage my day and get to
bed at a reasonable hour and not have to be stressed because all the work has been done in a timely
fashion. In conclusion the biggest stressors in my life are school, and my disturbed sleep pattern.
School is a stressor because it causes me to miss work, which hurts me financially because not only do
I miss work but I also use the money from working to help fund schooling. I found the best coping
mechanism to fit my life style was yoga because it has been shown to lessens the affects of stress, help
with focus, and confidence ( Rizzolo et al. 2009). Which will fit in nicely with my already active

Elements that Make a Tragic Hero in Shakespeare s Works Essay
Elements that Make a Tragic Hero in Shakespeare s Works
In all of Shakespeare s tragedies, the hero must suffer and in some if not most cases, die. What makes
a tragic hero? One has to be a man of high estate: a king, a prince or an officer of some high rank. It
was common practice for Shakespeare to tell of his tragic hero through the voices of others around his
hero. This way we can understand his conflicts, his struggles, and flaws. Usually the hero s own
actions and obsessions bring him to his tragic end. (Bradley 2)
v The calamities of tragedy do not simply happen, nor are they sent #8212; v The calamities of
tragedy proceed mainly from actions, and those, the actions of men. v Shakespeare s tragic heroes are

high ranking, (servant of Caesar) and he struggles with conflicts and flaws. (loving Caesar and trying
to care for Rome s people) His actions brings on the death of Caesar, this makes Brutus an excellent
example of a tragic hero. Shakespeare s King Lear is an excellent example of two tragic heroes . King
Lear himself and his friend Earl of Gloucester. King Lear fits the typical tragic hero outline, he is of
high ranking: a king. His tragedies are caused by his bad judgment, arrogance and foolishness. King
Lear s first mistake is giving up his throne and dividing his kingdom among his daughters. He creates
a contest amongst the three daughters, in which they must declare their love for him. His daughters
Goneril and Regan meet the challenge, but the third daughter Cordelia, does not. She does not express
her love like her sisters have even though she is the only daughter who truly loves her father. She is
banished by her father. How sharper than a serpent s tooth it is #8230;to have a thankless child! Away,

Pros And Cons Of A Great Looking Garden
25.
To me a great looking garden is much more than just that just a smart looking lawn and finely cut
grass. It takes colour to bring a garden to life, colour that you can only get from plants and flowers.
However, after years of failing to grow plants I found that is a lot easier said than done. I eventually
sent for the pros when it came to planting and hired [COMPANY] to bring life to my garden. They
planted all the flowers I asked for, with no expense spared. I simply can t thank the team enough for
all the effort they put into my garden. Ricky

Trimming and hedging is a skill for sure, but sadly it is a skill that I don t have. After damaging my

Arjuna s Second Discourse Of The Bhagavad
Arjuna is faced with an internal dilemma during the Second Discourse of the Bhagavad Gita, and
although the God Krishna seeks to help guide him towards an understanding of the meaning of his
life, Arjuna is still wary of making the wrong decision. This decision concerns itself with either
fighting in a civil war against family relatives, having to kill those Arjuna cares most about, or
abandoning his dharma as a warrior and jeopardizing fulfilling his duty the greater Self that plays such
a pivotal role in his people s culture and beliefs. While advocating for the battle and fulfilling one s
dharma, Krishna utilizes the point that the Self an overarching force in life is a formless, eternal entity
that cannot die and is more than the mere vessels that encompass the human beings across the
battlefield. It is more important to the greater vitality of one s existence to complete a duty to the Self
rather than live with the temporary benefits of living in what may appear to be a more pleasurable life,
but one with no fulfillment.

After all, why would anyone deliberately increase their own suffering for an ambiguous entity that has
unlimited time to develop and advance to the higher good? As is the case in the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna
must learn to understand that the Self would benefit from his involvement in the battle even if it led to
the death of some of his family members due to Arjuna having completed his all important dharma.
For someone who was keen to living with desires, and only looked at having the greatest life one
could muster, it would be difficult to justify the actions that would expand one s influence after they
were gone. But with the Self no one is ever gone because everything is

Sistine Chapel Essay
Michelangelo undertook the painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel during the High Renaissance.
The height of the rebirth of Classical thought in Europe. The atmosphere of the time period and even
its name, translating to rebirth , can be seen in the program of the frescoes decorating the ceiling of the
chapel. The central panels are scenes from the book of Genesis. They deal with God s creation of earth
and man, the fall of man and the story of Noah. In fictive spandrels, Michelangelo placed nude youths
among prophets and sybils, ancient Greek seers. In the Catholic tradition, sybils are thought to have
foretold the coming of Christ. The scenes of from Genesis were chosen because they represented the
birth of humanity. During the Renaissance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Catholic religion, Jesus is seen as the antidote to the fall of man, like how the Renaissance was
seen as the antidote to the Gothic period. The story represented the religious motivations of the patron,
Pope Julius II. As a religious leader, it would make sense that Julius II would be interested in
including tenets of the Catholic church in the frescoes of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Other
elements of the ceiling, mainly the fictive architecture, the inclusion of pagan elements and
Michaelangelo s attention to the human figure represent the humanist interests of Pope Julius II.
Humanism is based on the principles of Classical Roman and Greek philosophy. In the Renaissance,
Humanist values are often portrayed in motifs and design elements that relate to the Classical world.
For example, the inclusion of the sybils in the frescoes from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Syblis
are female Greek seers. They are pagan, their inclusion on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the
mythology that Catholics created around them, that they foretold the coming of Christ, was a way to

The Brief Etymology of the Word Humor
Imagine for a moment the vast history of the languages of the world. The base sounds that over time
formed into words, words that eventually evolved into language, language that branched and
developed into different languages. Modern languages adopted words from ancient languages, and
adapted the definitions to meet the requisites of the civilizations for which they served. This
development in language is due to the fundamental need for the human race to communicate
effectively with one another. Therefore, it is not surprising that many words have dual meanings. For
instance the word, humor, has expanded from its original definition to encompass the interpretation
available in modern English. The following is a brief view of the complex etymology of the word
humor. Presently, people use the word, humor, to describe an event or person that one finds comical.
According to The American Heritage Dictionary, one definition is, The quality that makes something
laughable or amusing. (The American Heritage Dictionary). However, in ancient times the word
humor had a completely different meaning. Amazingly, the word, humor, traces its origins back to the
ancient Romans, whose spoken and written language was Latin in approximately 900 AD. According
to Dictionary.com, the word humor developed from the Latin word umor, which means moisture. It
was during the 13th century in old Northern French language that the word humor was developed. The

Frankenstein Free Will
Scott Adams once said [f]ree will is an illusion. People always choose the perceived path of greatest
pleasure. Even though most people have free will, they always choose the decision that will lead them
to the most happiness. If one is given a choice to be courageous and happy or safe but not satisfied,
the logical choice they would chose is the primary. This decision is evidently seen in John Milton s
Paradise Lost and the film The Matrix, where Eve from Paradise Lost and Neo from The Matrix face
an opportunity to discover pleasure or endure the same, boring life they were experiencing before. To
no surprise, the characters chose the happy route because their free will would not let them go the
other route of dissatisfaction. As a result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The convincing arguments Satan and Morpheus provides makes the pathway for ignorance
nonexistent. When Morpheus holds out the red pill and blue pill, he tells Neo, [y]ou take the blue pill
and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe what you believe whatever you want to believe.
You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes (The
Matrix). Morpheus alludes to the story of Alice in Wonderland to convince Neo of all the great
possibilities that come with taking the red pill. He also repeats the word believe while discouraging
Neo from taking the blue pill which shows the uncertainty Neo will have to live with for the rest of
life. Neo is basically forced to take the red pill at this point because it will lead him to the path of
greatest pleasure. Additionally, Satan recounts his own experience of eating from the tree of
knowledge: do not believe / Those rigid threats of death; ye shall not die: / [...] Look on me, / Me who
have touched and tasted, yet both lived / And life more perfect have attained than fate (Milton 684
689). Satan uses logos to further attract Eve into eating the apple since he has firsthand knowledge of
the effects of the apple. He then uses the word life more perfect which sparks Eve s motive into eating
the apple. Even though Eve is basically forced to eat the apple, she is still thoughtful with her
decision. With the help of persuasive language, Eve and Neo are compelled into choosing the happiest

Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And
Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past half
century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s
inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors
that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic
inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in
achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of
economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor that is
unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach
levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser,
and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of
one s support for redistribution.
The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the
support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and
move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms,
in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to
baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would
typically come at the expense of other individuals.
The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in
inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s
household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major
point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the
United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack
citizenship.

Sleep Deprivation Is A Common Problem
Intricate human bodies are much like carefully crafted machines. Each function has a purpose, and
each need has a particular function. And, much like a machine, bodies can replenish their power,
repair themselves, and fail and break down. One particular necessity for human bodies is sleep, and if
not acquired, numerous complications can emerge. Sleep deprivation is a common problem that is all
too often overlooked as a mere loss of a night s rest. What most people do not realize is the potential
problems sleep deprivation can cause. From undesired grouchiness and uninhibited yawns, to constant
illness and a failing mental state, sleep deprivation is condition that is nothing to be taken lightly. In
fact, it can cause an otherwise healthy person to slowly shut down and break, just as a machine does
without power. Sleep deprivation is simply the state of not having enough sleep. It can affect anybody,
and has become an ever increasing peril in today s world. Consequently, according to the National
Sleep Foundation s inaugural Sleep Health Indexâ„¢, as of December, 2014, Forty five percent of
Americans say that poor or insufficient sleep affected their daily activities at least once in the past
seven days, To fully understand Sleep deprivation though, the knowledge of the process of sleeping
must be obtained. Sleep is a crucial component of every human s regime. Not only does the process of
sleep provide essential benefits to the human body, as does the actual

The Little Things
When you re not paying close attention to all of the good things that can happen to you throughout the
day, you don t really notice how many small things there are that can have a positive effect. Small
things on their own aren t much, but when you start to add them up they can become something huge.
For instance, playing fetch with my Labrador Buddy, or giving in to that craving of chocolate and
enjoying every bite are very small things in the grand scheme of things, but take either out of my life
and it would be a tragedy. Every once in a while something happens that is clearly a big good thing,
but they don t happen often enough to really get you through that daily grind. For instance, my mom

These are things that are small on the surface, but if they went away they would be pretty big. If
suddenly you have a health scare and are hanging on to your life, something like having a good meal
would seem pretty huge. If somebody you loved were to die, suddenly those hugs that you used to
share with them every day would linger over you and the lack of their presence would be one of the
saddest things in your life. The small things are really the big things because they reflect what truly
matters to you. I have a very busy life and not everyday do I think about and appreciate having a
simple phone conversation with a friend, getting a much needed hug from my boyfriend, or even just
spending time with my niece, but these are the things that would feel crippling if they went away. By
doing this experiment I learned that people generally focus too much on the negative things in the
world and end up making themselves feel like victims. And they don t pay enough attention to the
little things in the world that add up to make for a life that s worth living. People love to recall all of
the bad things that happen to them throughout the day, but really things don t happen to people, things
just happen. There are probably an equal amount of good things and bad things, so the trick to getting
through life and making yourself happy is to control how you respond to the world. If you focus on
the bad and

Descriptive Essay About Having A Dog
At the young age of 14, I fell in love for the first time. Although not ideal, he was white, covered with
brown spots and innocent eyes; a young Chihuahua. Max and I came into each other s lives on
October 20, 2013, when my older brother told me that a dog was coming home soon. Although I was
afraid of dogs, having previously been bit by one, I was oddly excited, and kept glancing at my phone
and at the window for the arrival of the new member to our family. Once the duo arrived, my whole
life would change. As my brother placed the small creature down, he came running towards me with
his small wagging tale and innocent eyes. Once he began to lick my feet I knew I was in love. Our
family settled on the name Max, but I called him Marco, and from then on I would treat Marco as if he
was my true blood brother. This one lone puppy, taught me responsibility, compassion, and grief for
others, as no other person has ever made me feel.
Dogs are known for their gentle souls and friendliness, but they also teach humans unexpected
lessons; such is the same for Marco and my family. Having a dog is no easy task, from the beginning
Max created the label of being a handful. When my cousin first picked him up, he began to urinate on
her which generated a lot of laughter and disgust at the same time. I was tasked with a lot of chores
such as cleaning him, feeding him, and taking him for walks around the neighborhood. Bathing Max

The criminally insane need a special form of rehabilitation and should be granted to right to fight for
this sentence. The insanity defense serves a definitive purpose in our legal system dismissing those
who should truly be found innocent. The option to utilize the insanity defense in court should not be
supported because it is not always effective for those who truly need it, it is a Catch 22 and a mental
illness does not dismiss the fact that a crime has taken place. The insanity plea should be abolished
because it does not help those who need it, the bar at which you qualify for insanity is near
unreachable, which renders the plea useless. Psychiatrists who examined Andrea Yates testified
repeatedly she was mentally ill and suffered from severe postpartum depression but that was not
enough to brand her legally insane (Seligman). This woman was later retried and did succeed in using
the insanity defense. The fact that she was not allowed to use it the first time shows how hard it is to
succeed using this defense. The first time she tried to use the defense, she clearly qualified but was

Tulane University Application Essay
When I began my college search in the summer before senior year, Tulane University was at the top of
my list. Many of the schools I researched focused on only one strong suit, such as their academic
curriculum or campus diversity. Tulane, however, possessed an extensive variety of characteristics that
I found to be crucial for a successful college experience. A combination of superior academic
facilities, highly qualified instructors, and a vibrant culture makes Tulane University a prime location
for my undergraduate studies.
To begin with, Tulane University has a renowned educational program incomparable to many other
universities. By offering a diverse variety of courses instructed by highly qualified professors, Tulane

When I think of New Orleans, I am overcome with emotion, as there are no words that can truly
capture the feeling I associate with the city. Growing up, my family drove to Louisiana at least twice a
year to visit my father s college hometown of Lake Charles, and every time, regardless of how hectic
our schedules were, my sister and I would convince our parents to drive the extra couple of hours to
what we considered the epitome of all things wonderful New Orleans. During these visits, I sought to
immerse myself in the vibrant and completely unique culture of the city. From walking through the
French Quarter to shoveling jambalaya into my mouth, New Orleans provided me with an escape from
the mundane small town life that I was accustomed to.
Plenty of jambalaya bowls later, I realized that the opportunity for me to attend one of the most
prestigious universities in the nation while living in a richly cultured city rested solely in my hands.
From high school courses to extracurricular activities to community service projects, I have always
strived to reach higher goals, including gaining acceptance into a reputable college. With its superior
academic standing, access to highly qualified instructors, and vibrant culture, Tulane University
creates a community that any student would be proud to call their

Analysis Of The Poem The River That The Boy Spirit
She cleaned the spirit s dirty body and found out that the dirty things all came from human s rubbish

that if people try to protect the nature, nature will also return something for humans (Napier, 2006).
Another environmental concern in Spirited Away was a boy who used to be the spirit of a river near
Chihiro s old town, but he forgot his name. And he was working in the spa center because the river
was filled by human to build a highway (Reider, 2005). Miyazaki s view changed because his life
changed at that time. Japan has developed quickly at that time especially the industry, but people
ignored that some activities could harm the environment. Also, Napier stated Miyazaki explained that
the inspiration for the river that the boy spirit was a personal experience of his own when he helped to
clean a polluted river near his home (Napier, 2006). Miyazaki wanted to use the magic film to tell
people the truth what they did. Their behaviors reflected their daily life that damaged the environment
with no intention and also encouraged people to solve the problem in order to protect the environment.

The mainstay in the management of migraine is identification of the trigger and avoiding it. Dietary
triggers should be avoided. Migraine diary can be kept and symptom and probable triggers can be
recorded. Lifestyle changes such as reducing stress, improving sleep habits, and regular exercise can
be made. Patients with migraine should be encouraged not to miss meals[5].
Vasoconstroictive medications such as pseudoephhedrine should be avoided and patients advised to
use triptans as minimum as possible in order to prevent the rebound symptoms.

Alienation Is Not A New Thing
Alienation is best described as a powerful feeling of isolation and loneliness, which stems from a
variety of causes such as certain events and situations in society or in a persons individual life (
Alienation ). The extent in which a person is alienated varies from mild to severe often depending on
the specific trigger. Most commonly, the feeling of not fitting in with others and being different causes
alienation. However, in some instances a certain life changing event or the accumulation of internal
feelings may cause a person to try and escape from reality. This ultimately results in self triggered
alienation them from the outside world. This is why, although alienation is not necessarily a bad thing,
in long term cases it can have a very negative effect on a person s self confidence and happiness. The
common occurrence of alienation is not a new thing. Although more recently noticed in current social
situations, people have been experiencing this state of isolation throughout all of history. Due to the
modernist movement of the twentieth century, countless pieces of literature explore the effects that
alienation on fictional characters in order to mimic reality. Breaking away from conformism, the
initial drive of individualistic thinking created a sense of alienation for those rejecting social norms
until the final break through occurred in society. Authors of the twentieth century that successfully
grasp this overarching theme of alienation include Albert

Original Solution I can t really think of a way to fix the problem of a country entirely based off of
religion. Religion has a way of tearing us apart and makes us all blind to the real problems of life. The
best idea I have is to find a way to somehow create a government in your own state without
completely going against your religion and making everyone want to kill one another. I would start

How Did Christopher Columbus Successful
Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator. He was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. In
1492, he traveled across the Atlantic Ocean trying to find a new route to Asia with three ships, the
Santa Maria, the Pinta, and the Nina. He made four voyages to the Caribbean, South and Central
America between 1492 and 1504. Christopher died in Valladolid, Spain on May 20, 1506. In his life,
Christopher accomplished many things that he could be proud of. For example, he convinced King
Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain to provide him with money to find a new way to Asia. Also, he

The Similarities of Writting Style in Walt Whitman’s “Song...
Throughout time there have been many writers and poets. And with these many writers and poets their
work has been different in what they write about. And their work has made an impact on society and
on others. And yet in this time some writers have influenced the work of others. Walt Whitman and
Allen Ginsberg who are separated by a time gap have a kind of connection. Both of these amazing
writers wrote pieces of work that are considered a catalyst for the Beat Generation. These two
courageous writers went against the norm and wrote about something different. Although they are
different they both explored new topics. Walt Whitman s Song of Myself and Allen Ginsberg s Howl
have similarities right from the first page. The first thing that they both have in common is the
structure of their work. Both Howl and Song of Myself have long lines and they keep like that. Having
these long lines makes the story flow. Doing this in these two works made it have some kind of steady
rhythm so it was easy to read. Also another similarity Whitman had on Ginsberg was at the beginning
of each sentence. In Howl the beginning would always start with who . In Song of Myself the first
word of the line is Nor. This would be happening quite often. Ginsberg and Whitman both wrote about
topics against what other writers would talk about. Whitman would write about sexuality/the human
body and it scared off some of his readers. For example in Song of Myself on page 28 29:

A Student Performance Essay
One of the most unpleasant and frustrating situations faced by many parents and teachers at various
stages of their lives generally involves situations where they work or live with children who do not
perform as per their capabilities or the potential, thereby being labelled under the banner as
underachievers though most of the people are not really clear about the deeper and exact meaning of
this term (Clinkenbeard., 2012).The point at which this term is to be used is very ambiguous as there
are not clear cut definitions of underachievement or the point from where underachievement begins.
Additionally, the circumstances which fall under this category is also very ill defined (Clinkenbeard.,
2012). If we consider an example where a student performs badly in mathematics but is
simultaneously superior while reading amongst different students present in a class, would he/she be
considered as an under achiever. Also, whether the list which defines the underachiever s category is
drawn from a single academic performance or is based upon numerous performances which have been
recorded over the time remains unclear (Clinkenbeard., 2012). Thus, from these above situations
which are being encountered quite regularly indicates that the situation relating to underachievement
is very complicated coupled with being multifaceted, just similar to those children who are
increasingly being labelled as underachievers.
It is important to address the reasons why many talented and intelligent

unimaginable before the telegraph. It made communication a lot easier by means of speed. The
telegraph was developed independently in the United States in 1837 with Sir Thomas Edison as one of
the biggest contributor. Our next invention is the rifle. It was in the mid of the nineteenth century that
the firearms provided a cutting edge to the technology of that era. The rifle heavily contributed in the
war as it was used as one of the main weapons by then. The idea of the rifle was from the British
Army during the Napoleonic wars in the 19th century as they seek for a stronger bullet to fire in their

Avoid Writing Success

and have poor choice in wording. Throughout the next fifteen weeks my personal goal is to be able to

Class, Culture, And Gender
Intersectionality is the concept that is used when examining the interconnections between a group or a
an individual dealing with race, class, culture, and gender. Since these groups intersect with one
another, they cannot be examined separately. The term intersectionality was first coined by Kimberle
Crenshaw, being a woman of color she argued that black women have to deal with two types of
discrimination, racism and sexism. A combination of two types of discrimination, when studying an
individual it hard not to intersect them with different types of discrimination. Crenshaw and other
women of color would not have to deal with double discrimination if white women were not
discriminated and if black people were not discriminated as well. Privilege then comes into play here,
more importantly white privilege, having social advantages just by being born white. Having white
privilege only goes so far, if you are a woman one still has the social advantages of being white, but
then comes in sexism and male privilege. Where privilege and oppression intersect on not only an
individual, but a type of group, being the white female. By being a white woman one can be privileged
and oppressed at the same time. While if you are a woman of color you are discriminated more upon
and more oppressed since you are not only dealing with one discrimination, but two. One type of
group that comes into play with discrimination is the woman. Where in a society that is prominently

Osteoporiatic Arthritis Essay
Osteoporosis and psoriatic arthritis: what new connection it has?
Overview
The number of patients with osteoporosis arthritis is less than that of those with psoriatic arthritis. This
is because psoriatic affects any age while osteoporosis comes due to aging making that the only
difference. The treatment of both types of arthritis is similar. Psoriatic arthritis affects the joints and
when it become chronic it forms a scaly skin around the area where that joint is. Osteoporosis is
caused by cartilage reduction between the joints, making them start gridding against each other
leading to joint pain. The symptoms of both osteoporosis and psoriatic are: joint pain, stiffness of the

Conclusion
The above ways have been tried and they have worked so well. Do not ignore any type of pain you
feel in your body, always visit a doctor to perform some test on you to establish the problem. Avoid
self medication since incase you are suffering from any type of arthritis you will live on pain killers

Taking a Look at Best Buy
Synopsis
When one envisions an electronic company, Best Buy generally comes to mind. It is just like Nike or
Coca Cola. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music (Hoffman, 2010,
p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early 1980s, Best Buy began to
add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for more products to be added as
technology advanced. In 1983, the company changed its name to Best Buy Co. and operated as a
superstore (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The entire look of this company was changing drastically. This
would include the sales staff as well. Originally, the staff had worked on a commission based salary.
However, in 1989, this structure was eliminated and sales associates transformed into educators that
assisted customers in learning about the products offered in the stores (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2).
Basically, the customer took control and the employees were there as guidance. The idea of having
control in buying electronics became more common as the technology developed. In order to let the
consumer have more control, the company expanded further by developing and releasing
BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give customers a choice between visiting a
physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2).
The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it grew
the number of products and services through acquiring

Dog parks are essiential for the physical and mental health of dogs. If a god doesn t get the exercise it
needs it will be vicous towards other dogs and people. A dog park how communication for the animal
and helps them socialize more. Many dogs across the country are better behaived if they are out doors.
The down side to building a new dog park is the cost and upkeep of the park. Which means hiring
people to keep it clean. Not to mention building a park will cost taxpayers alot of money.
Dogs need exercise to be better be trained and all around well mannered animals. If a dog is cooped

For nearby residents, this would be very unpleasent, thus creating an angry community. Not everyone
owns a K9, many people owns cats. I love both animals but I own a cat and he gets exercise from
playing with other cats and playing with me. A lot of people nearby a dog park would find it to be
unrealistic and not contributing the community as a whole.
Having a dog park would just cater to dog owners. What about cat owners? Or people who have other
pets and just want to have a fun park experience? A playground would be a better idea instead of a
park, because you wouldn t have to worry about any lawsuits or people getting hurt from mean dogs.
Also there would be no barking for people whom just want to relax from a hard days work. Thus
creating a better and safer enviroment for all park goers. Dog owners, cat owners, lizard owners, etc.
Dog parks have helped many people get their dogs out and giving them a healthier lifestyle. People
that have no time to walk their dog can hire a dog walker and the dog walker will take them there and
let them loose in the fenced in area. Giving the owner and dog the best of both worlds if the owner has
no time. Dog parks are a great way for many people to get exercise, not just dogs. The community can
benefit from a dog park because it brings everyone together and allows them to talk and grow
friendships. For dogs and their

This quote must be representing his strong emotions for his young love. Giovanni Boccaccio is an Italian poet and scholar, known from early tales and works written with his friend, Petrarch. Giovanni Boccaccio s writings were influenced greatly by the black death, his personal life in Naples and the historical events that occurred in Florence. Shortly after Giovanni Boccaccio began writing, the black plague ravaged through Florence and affected 25% to 50% of the population. Giovanni fell in love with a woman named Fiammetta, which encouraged him to write another famous writing named, Filocolo. This was a romance inspired by her that retells the story of two noble lovers. Another work that is said to be his way of preceding his love for her is the Caccia di Diana. This is about beasts being hunted by the fairest ladies, they invoke the goddess Venus who transforms the beasts into young, faithful men. At the end, the narrator is added in and is offered to the fairest lady. This is Boccaccio s way of displaying his feelings to Fiammetta. Then, his father soon got appointed to the head of the Neapolitan branch. The Neapolitan branch was a high rank in his bank. Boccaccio was sooner introduced to the society of the court at Naples. He met a variety of people, such as scientists, theologians and the men of letters. He studied many different cultures and topics. He learned the environment of Naples that inspired him to write. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Can employee morale and productivity be boosted in the work place through various program incentives? I am proposing that a process be introduced which recognizes individual as well as team contributions through other means. It has been noted in several readings and throughout companies that employees with high morale are more productive than those unhappy counterparts. This is also a way to reduce the cost associated with recruiting and training of new employees replacing those who lack productivity and morale. The basic principles of human motivation are a constant. Many employees in companies throughout pride themselves on a new school approach to employee satisfaction issues. Years ago (and still for some) the idea of if you don t like it than quit still exist but through the use of the items identified, that approach wont be necessary. • 6. Coercive Interrogations And The Elicitation Of False... COERCIVE INTERROGATIONS AND THE ELICITATION OF FALSE CONFESSIONS The effectiveness of the coercive methods used in modern interrogation lack rigorous scientific consideration and have been accepted without satisfactory scrutiny. Previous studies on alternative methods of interrogation are underdeveloped and sparse, as scope exists to reform current practices to ensure that interrogation processes (are) ecologically valid and focused on the correct processes. This essay posits that the accusatorial Reid Model of interrogation is ineffective insofar as it employs coercive practices that have been empirically proven to elicit false confessions. The problematic Reid Model is juxtaposed against an alternative non coercive information gathering approach to highlight the superiority of this method in its ability to elicit true confessions. This essay emphasises the challenge for future research to continue to deconstruct the validity of coercive techniques to encourage reform that promotes more effective non coercive methods. In examining the foremost interrogation methods used, this essay will utilise the distinction drawn by Meissner et al between information gathering and accusatorial approaches as a means to highlight coercive practices within interrogations. The accusatorial method uses psychological manipulation in order to establish control of a suspect and achieve confession. This method is typified by the approach of the United States through their use of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some common coping mechanisms to relief the stress that I researched and found to be effective, were, deep breathing, yoga, proper nutrition, and time management. These are just a few of the many stress coping mechanisms that I researched and thought they fit best with my active lifestyle, and interests. The first of my stressors is school; school is a stressor because it is more demanding than it was in past years there it is now asking more from me along with all my other responsibilities. Another coping mechanism for my disturbed sleep pattern is time management according to an article from College teaching talked about a Research project looking at how students spend their time between work, school, and social interaction, They had the students keep a time diary to keep track of their day to day activity. It showed that most of any given day was spent on social interaction and then working due to finical strains and the least on schoolwork and activities (Hanson, T. L., Drumheller, K., Mallard, J., McKee, C., Schlegel, P. 2011). This time diary is a great way for me to see where my time is spent and allow my to cut out or at the least cut down on unnecessary time spent doing things that are not related to schoolwork or work which will allow me to better manage my day and get to bed at a reasonable hour and not have to be stressed because all the work has been done in a timely fashion. In conclusion the biggest stressors in my life are school, and my disturbed sleep pattern. School is a stressor because it causes me to miss work, which hurts me financially because not only do I miss work but I also use the money from working to help fund schooling. I found the best coping mechanism to fit my life style was yoga because it has been shown to lessens the affects of stress, help with focus, and confidence ( Rizzolo et al. 2009). Elements that Make a Tragic Hero in Shakespeare s Works Essay Elements that Make a Tragic Hero in Shakespeare s Works In all of Shakespeare s tragedies, the hero must suffer and in some if not most cases, die. What makes a tragic hero? One has to be a man of high estate: a king, a prince or an officer of some high rank. It was common practice for Shakespeare to tell of his tragic hero through the voices of others around his hero. This way we can understand his conflicts, his struggles, and flaws. Usually the hero s own actions and obsessions bring him to his tragic end. (III.II) Brutus is a very important tragic hero in the play. He is of high ranking, (servant of Caesar) and he struggles with conflicts and flaws. (loving Caesar and trying to care for Rome s people) His actions brings on the death of Caesar, this makes Brutus an excellent example of a tragic hero. Shakespeare s King Lear is an excellent example of two tragic heroes . King Lear himself and his friend Earl of Gloucester. King Lear fits the typical tragic hero outline, he is of high ranking: a king. His tragedies are caused by his bad judgment, arrogance and foolishness. King Lear s first mistake is giving up his throne and dividing his kingdom among his daughters. He creates a contest amongst the three daughters, in which they must declare their love for him. His daughters Goneril and Regan meet the challenge, but the third daughter Cordelia, does not. She does not express her love like her sisters have even though she is the only daughter who truly loves her father. She is banished by her father. How sharper than a serpent s tooth it is #8230;to have a thankless child! Away, away! (I.IV) This is King Lear s first of many down falls. It takes colour to bring a garden to life, colour that you can only get from plants and flowers. However, after years of failing to grow plants I found that is a lot easier said than done. I eventually sent for the pros when it came to planting and hired [COMPANY] to bring life to my garden. They planted all the flowers I asked for, with no expense spared. Arjuna s Second Discourse Of The Bhagavad Arjuna is faced with an internal dilemma during the Second Discourse of the Bhagavad Gita, and although the God Krishna seeks to help guide him towards an understanding of the meaning of his life, Arjuna is still wary of making the wrong decision. This decision concerns itself with either fighting in a civil war against family relatives, having to kill those Arjuna cares most about, or abandoning his dharma as a warrior and jeopardizing fulfilling his duty the greater Self that plays such a pivotal role in his people s culture and beliefs. While advocating for the battle and fulfilling one s dharma, Krishna utilizes the point that the Self an overarching force in life is a formless, eternal entity that cannot die and is more than the mere vessels that encompass the human beings across the battlefield. It is more important to the greater vitality of one s existence to complete a duty to the Self rather than live with the temporary benefits of living in what may appear to be a more pleasurable life, but one with no fulfillment. The central panels are scenes from the book of Genesis. They deal with God s creation of earth and man, the fall of man and the story of Noah. In fictive spandrels, Michelangelo placed nude youths among prophets and sybils, ancient Greek seers. In the Catholic tradition, sybils are thought to have foretold the coming of Christ. In the Catholic religion, Jesus is seen as the antidote to the fall of man, like how the Renaissance was seen as the antidote to the Gothic period. The story represented the religious motivations of the patron, Pope Julius II. As a religious leader, it would make sense that Julius II would be interested in including tenets of the Catholic church in the frescoes of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Other elements of the ceiling, mainly the fictive architecture, the inclusion of pagan elements and Michaelangelo s attention to the human figure represent the humanist interests of Pope Julius II. Humanism is based on the principles of Classical Roman and Greek philosophy. In the Renaissance, Humanist values are often portrayed in motifs and design elements that relate to the Classical world. For example, the inclusion of the sybils in the frescoes from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Syblis are female Greek seers. They are pagan, their inclusion on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the mythology that Catholics created around them, that they foretold the coming of Christ, was a way to bring together Classical religion with ... • 13. The Brief Etymology of the Word Humor Imagine for a moment the vast history of the languages of the world. The base sounds that over time formed into words, words that eventually evolved into language, language that branched and developed into different languages. Modern languages adopted words from ancient languages, and adapted the definitions to meet the requisites of the civilizations for which they served. This development in language is due to the fundamental need for the human race to communicate effectively with one another. Therefore, it is not surprising that many words have dual meanings. For instance the word, humor, has expanded from its original definition to encompass the interpretation available in modern English. The following is a brief view of the complex etymology of the word humor. Presently, people use the word, humor, to describe an event or person that one finds comical. According to The American Heritage Dictionary, one definition is, The quality that makes something laughable or amusing. (The American Heritage Dictionary). However, in ancient times the word humor had a completely different meaning. Amazingly, the word, humor, traces its origins back to the ancient Romans, whose spoken and written language was Latin in approximately 900 AD. According to Dictionary.com, the word humor developed from the Latin word umor, which means moisture. It was during the 13th century in old Northern French language that the word humor was developed. • 14. Frankenstein Free Will Scott Adams once said [f]ree will is an illusion. People always choose the perceived path of greatest pleasure. Even though most people have free will, they always choose the decision that will lead them to the most happiness. If one is given a choice to be courageous and happy or safe but not satisfied, the logical choice they would chose is the primary. This decision is evidently seen in John Milton s Paradise Lost and the film The Matrix, where Eve from Paradise Lost and Neo from The Matrix face an opportunity to discover pleasure or endure the same, boring life they were experiencing before. To no surprise, the characters chose the happy route because their free will would not let them go the other route of dissatisfaction. As a result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes (The Matrix). Morpheus alludes to the story of Alice in Wonderland to convince Neo of all the great possibilities that come with taking the red pill. He also repeats the word believe while discouraging Neo from taking the blue pill which shows the uncertainty Neo will have to live with for the rest of life. Neo is basically forced to take the red pill at this point because it will lead him to the path of greatest pleasure. Additionally, Satan recounts his own experience of eating from the tree of knowledge: do not believe / Those rigid threats of death; ye shall not die: / [...] Look on me, / Me who have touched and tasted, yet both lived / And life more perfect have attained than fate (Milton 684 689). Satan uses logos to further attract Eve into eating the apple since he has firsthand knowledge of the effects of the apple. He then uses the word life more perfect which sparks Eve s motive into eating the apple. Even though Eve is basically forced to eat the apple, she is still thoughtful with her decision. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of economic influence (Gelman 1213). Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser, and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of one s support for redistribution. The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms, in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would typically come at the expense of other individuals. The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the United States. And, much like a machine, bodies can replenish their power, repair themselves, and fail and break down. One particular necessity for human bodies is sleep, and if not acquired, numerous complications can emerge. Sleep deprivation is a common problem that is all too often overlooked as a mere loss of a night s rest. What most people do not realize is the potential problems sleep deprivation can cause. From undesired grouchiness and uninhibited yawns, to constant illness and a failing mental state, sleep deprivation is condition that is nothing to be taken lightly. In fact, it can cause an otherwise healthy person to slowly shut down and break, just as a machine does without power. Sleep deprivation is simply the state of not having enough sleep. It can affect anybody, and has become an ever increasing peril in today s world. Consequently, according to the National Sleep Foundation s inaugural Sleep Health Indexâ„¢, as of December, 2014, Forty five percent of Americans say that poor or insufficient sleep affected their daily activities at least once in the past seven days, To fully understand Sleep deprivation though, the knowledge of the process of sleeping must be obtained. Although not ideal, he was white, covered with brown spots and innocent eyes; a young Chihuahua. Max and I came into each other s lives on October 20, 2013, when my older brother told me that a dog was coming home soon. Although I was afraid of dogs, having previously been bit by one, I was oddly excited, and kept glancing at my phone and at the window for the arrival of the new member to our family. Once the duo arrived, my whole life would change. As my brother placed the small creature down, he came running towards me with his small wagging tale and innocent eyes. Once he began to lick my feet I knew I was in love. Our family settled on the name Max, but I called him Marco, and from then on I would treat Marco as if he was my true blood brother. Both of these amazing writers wrote pieces of work that are considered a catalyst for the Beat Generation. These two courageous writers went against the norm and wrote about something different. Although they are different they both explored new topics. Walt Whitman s Song of Myself and Allen Ginsberg s Howl have similarities right from the first page. The first thing that they both have in common is the structure of their work. Both Howl and Song of Myself have long lines and they keep like that. Having these long lines makes the story flow. Doing this in these two works made it have some kind of steady rhythm so it was easy to read. Also another similarity Whitman had on Ginsberg was at the beginning of each sentence. In Howl the beginning would always start with who . In Song of Myself the first word of the line is Nor. This would be happening quite often. A Student Performance Essay One of the most unpleasant and frustrating situations faced by many parents and teachers at various stages of their lives generally involves situations where they work or live with children who do not perform as per their capabilities or the potential, thereby being labelled under the banner as underachievers though most of the people are not really clear about the deeper and exact meaning of this term (Clinkenbeard., 2012).The point at which this term is to be used is very ambiguous as there are not clear cut definitions of underachievement or the point from where underachievement begins. Additionally, the circumstances which fall under this category is also very ill defined (Clinkenbeard., 2012). If we consider an example where a student performs badly in mathematics but is simultaneously superior while reading amongst different students present in a class, would he/she be considered as an under achiever. Also, whether the list which defines the underachiever s category is drawn from a single academic performance or is based upon numerous performances which have been recorded over the time remains unclear (Clinkenbeard., 2012). Thus, from these above situations which are being encountered quite regularly indicates that the situation relating to underachievement is very complicated coupled with being multifaceted, just similar to those children who are increasingly being labelled as underachievers. • 34. Class, Culture, And Gender Intersectionality is the concept that is used when examining the interconnections between a group or a an individual dealing with race, class, culture, and gender. Since these groups intersect with one another, they cannot be examined separately. The term intersectionality was first coined by Kimberle Crenshaw, being a woman of color she argued that black women have to deal with two types of discrimination, racism and sexism. A combination of two types of discrimination, when studying an individual it hard not to intersect them with different types of discrimination. Crenshaw and other women of color would not have to deal with double discrimination if white women were not discriminated and if black people were not discriminated as well. Privilege then comes into play here, more importantly white privilege, having social advantages just by being born white. Having white privilege only goes so far, if you are a woman one still has the social advantages of being white, but then comes in sexism and male privilege. Where privilege and oppression intersect on not only an individual, but a type of group, being the white female. By being a white woman one can be privileged and oppressed at the same time. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early 1980s, Best Buy began to add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for more products to be added as technology advanced. In order to let the consumer have more control, the company expanded further by developing and releasing BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give customers a choice between visiting a physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it grew the number of products and services through acquiring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
