My audience was my life. What I did and how I did it, was all for my audience , these words came
from the well known and never forgotten Cab Calloway. His style and mix of blues, swing and scat
spread like wildfire and filled many peoples lives with joy, excitement and happiness. Cab Calloway
broke the boundaries of racial barriers and become a very popular and influential household name. As
stated in the Jazz Profiles from NPR, A truly larger than life figure in American pop culture...Calloway
also led one of the greatest bands of the Swing Era (Ossman).
Cab Calloway arose from an era where racism against black jazz musicians was present and drug
addiction seemed to consume the majority of these musicians lives. It was no surprise that Cab
Calloway pursued a career as an entertainer. He grew up in a family that consisted of musicians and
performers, although it was expected that he would follow in his fathers foot steps and become a
lawyer. Around the mid to late 1920s Cab Calloway assembled his own band and they were known as
the Alabamians. Although his time with the Alabamians was short lived, he eventually became
bandleader of a big band called the Missourians. Cab Calloway and the Missourians became an instant
hit and sensation. They performed in popular clubs such as Savoy Theater and The Cotton Club. As

The Necessary Proofs for the Belief in God Explained in...
The article On Being an Athiest, by H.J. McClosky, was very interesting. McClosky basically lets us
know that as atheists they do not believe in God and why they do not believe in the God that theists
do. According to McCloskey, there are three proofs for a theist to believe in God; the cosmological,
teleological, and the argument from design.
McCloskey refers to the arguments for God as proofs, and he suggests that we cannot establish a case
with these, so called, proofs. After watching the PointeCast presentation, I agree with this. Proofs, as

Even though this one argument only talks about or shows us existence of the universe and necessary
being we must not forget about so many other important ones. If someone were to accept this as a
conclusion to accepting God, they would only want to know more. This is only a tiny piece that allows
us just a glimpse of God s knowledge. Let s take a look at the McCloskey s second argument, the
teleological argument.
In the teleological argument, McCloskey argues to get proof going genuine indisputable examples of
design and purpose are needed (McCloskey, 1968). McCloskey is basically stating in his argument
that all examples must be indisputable, or they have no ground to stand on. I disagree. Go back to the
beginning when we talked about the only thing that can actually be proven is mathematics. Regardless
of what you are trying to prove you must have multiple pieces of evidence, but even then they might
not be indisputable. I do not believe anything is ever one hundred percent disputable. So, I don t
believe that McCloskey s argument is a very conclusive one. Let s look at an example.
Aquina s version of this argument is a great one. Aquina states that, whatever lacks knowledge cannot
move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence

Also the child may try to do anything they can in the hopes of finding or getting any type of
information on their birth parents. The decision for a child to look for their birth parents mainly falls
in the hands of the foster parent, if the child is under age. But if the child is of age and able to make
sound decisions the older child should be able to search for their parents.
The decision if a child should find their biological parents is a very controversial topic; it s debated in
many different aspects. In some cases it is okay for a child to reach out to their biological parents

In this passage, several conflicts are portrayed. In the beginning of the passage, Edmund and Mary
Crawford are in conflict over Edmund s future job as a clergyman. Both parties are equally stubborn
and both are determined to convince the other. This results in tension between the two and they are
unable to fully enjoy each other s company at the ball, despite wanting to. In the second half of the
passage, conflict arises between Fanny and Sir Thomas when Sir Thomas tries to prevent Fanny from
waking up too early to have breakfast with William the next day. Unlike Edmund and Mary s conflict,
this conflict between Fanny and Sir Thomas is resolved within the passage. However, fanny is not left

In the extract, both characters argue about the clergyman profession, with Edmund trying to defend his
choice of profession and Mary expressing her disdain for it. The passage writes he had reasoned, she
had ridiculed , showing that Edmund had been trying to persuade and make peace with Mary while
Mary had been the more aggressive one in the argument, refusing to back down. The use of the word
ridiculed also suggests that Mary was deliberately trying to hurt Edmund s feelings and was being
especially harsh and spiteful. The pair later parted at last with mutual vexation , not having been able
to win over the other or come to a compromise. This conflict shows that perhaps this courtship was
doomed from the start as neither is willing to give in to the other. Furthermore, Edmund and Mary are
continually shown to have differing and conflicting values throughout the novel, so much so that
arguing with Mary causes Edmund to be upset and worn out with civility . This is contrasted with the
much more agreeable relationship between Edmund and Fanny that is shown in earlier parts of the
