The Five Steps Of The Federal Budget Process
I. Introduction The federal budget process is a lengthy and complex process that involves monitoring,
adjusting, and reporting on the current year s budget. The budget process is put in place to ensure there
is enough funds for many things such as wage war, provide housing, and maintain streets (Rubin
2014). Some of the actors are Bureau Chiefs, The Executive Budget Office, and Chief Executive
Office. It all begins with the Federal Budget Process and the President s proposed budget, while
directly involving the execution process. The budget execution process aims to reduce the risk of
overspending, but when the budget is nearing completion, and it seems overspending will occur,
budget sequestration comes into play. However, if not used correctly, sequestration could do more
harm than good to our economy and cost important programs their funding. Misuse could also lead to
the waste of time and money, which does not benefit the warfighter or the taxpayers. II. Federal
Budget Process There are five steps in the federal budget process and it involves many different
actors. The first step of this process involves the President submitting a budget request to Congress.
This budget request includes the way the President best sees money being spent, it provides
suggestions. The second step is the House and Senate passing budget resolutions, they do so by
casting a vote on their budget resolutions. The third step is the House and Senate subcommittees
marking up appropriation

Comparing The Poems The Nymph s Reply, And Raleigh Was Right
The Passionate to His Love , The Nymph s Reply , and Raleigh Was Right were all written by 3
authors. The authors who wrote Passionate Shepard are Marlowe which is the first poem. The nymph s
Reply was written by Raleigh, the last poem Raleigh was right was written Williams. Williams
transformed Marlowe and Raleigh s central ideas by focusing on flowers, love and nature. Williams
transformed the central idea of flowers because in Marlowe s poem the shepherd says, A cap of flower
and a kirtle . (Marlowe lines 11) What the shepherd means by saying that is that he is giving a gift to
thy love. In Raleigh s poem the nymph says, The flowers do fade wanton fields . (Raleigh Line 9) The
nymph s is basically saying is that the love he has will eventually fade away. Williams says in his
poem Love itself a flower . (Lines 17) Love to Williams is a flower. ... Show more content on

Shakespeare s Macbeth-Tragic Hero
The Tragedy of Macbeth
The Tragedy of Macbeth is one of Shakespeare s greatest stagewrites. He shows Macbeth in many
different forms as a character. Macbeth is an ever changing character. Lady Macbeth adds on to this
changing personality. Shakespeare hits all these points in three categories, known as tragic hero,
dynamic character, round character.
Macbeth is best known as a tragic hero because he fits into all the elements of a tragic hero which are,
high social rank, tragic flaw, suffers complete ruin or death and faces downfall with courage and
dignity. Macbeth has a high social rank in the beginning of the play he started out as the Thane of
Glamis then was promoted to Thane of Cawdor by the king, and then he played fouly for the crown. In
this case the king sent Ross to deliver a message that said And for and earnest of greater honor, he
bade me, from him, call thee Thane of Cawdor. (1.3.104 105) To show him playing fouly for the
crown I go and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is knell That summons thee
to heaven or hell. (2.1.61 63) Macbeth said this as he went to kill King Duncan. Macbeth has a tragic
flaw that he lusts for power, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Creative And Practical Skills Essay
Introduction
According to the proposed theory of human intelligence and its development (Sternberg, 1999a), a
common set of processes underlies all aspects of intelligence. These processes are hypothesized to be
universal. These processes are applied to different kinds of tasks and situations depending on whether
a given problem requires practical skills and creative skills.
Practical skills used to implement, apply, or put into practice ideas in real world contexts. It involves
individuals applying their abilities to the kinds of daily problems they confront on the job or at home.
Practical intelligence is the application of the components of intelligence to experience to: adapt to,
(b) shape, and (c) select environments.
In contrast with practical skills, creative skills used to create, invent, discover, imagine, suppose, or
hypothesize. Tests of creative intelligence go beyond tests of analytical intelligence in measuring
performance on tasks that require individuals to deal with relatively novel situations. Sternberg has
shown that assessing a range of abilities beyond that assessed by conventional tests of intelligence
allows one to tap sources of individual differences measured little or not at all by these tests
(Sternberg, 1985). It is also true that people are either practically or creatively skilful or they have
these both skills innate with them. But in consideration to its value in day to day life, practical skill
can be considered more important than creative

Propaganda And Persuasion, Garth s. Jowett And Victoria O...
(U) Introduction (U) In the book Propaganda and Persuasion, Garth S. Jowett and Victoria O Donnell
provide a ten question framework for analyzing persuasive techniques. This paper analyzes two
political advertisements, Peace Little Girl (Daisy) from the 1964 U.S. presidential election and
Prouder, Stronger, Better (Morning in America) from the 1984 election, using Jowett and O Donnell s
Framework and other models.
(U) Peace Little Girl (Daisy) Campaign Advertisement
(U) During the 1964 election of Lyndon B. Johnson versus Barry Goldwater, the Peace Little Girl
(Daisy) commercial advocated for the audience to vote for Johnson. The commercial shows a young
girl in a field picking pedals off of a daisy. The girl is later killed by a nuclear bomb explosion. The
ideology and purpose of this propaganda campaign was to persuade people to vote for Johnson. In this
advertisement, Johnson stands for peace and stability. This advertisement infers that a nuclear war is a
reality if Johnson is not elected, and Goldwater becomes president. This advertisement does not
directly state that Goldwater could start a war, but alludes that his extreme views could put the U.S. at
risk. This advertisement s intent is also to portray Goldwater as an extremist, diminishing his chance
to build a moderate image to appeal to more voters. (U) The context in which this propaganda occurs
is an era with a prevailing mood of fear, unrest, and uncertainty. Americans feared the threat

Using A Warrant Should Not Be Allowed Essay
Many cases have been brought to court and are continuing to be brought that say location tracking
without a warrant should not be allowed. The argument most often used is that it is a violation of the
right to privacy. A warrant is not the only way to obtain these records nor should it be. There are valid
reasons that data can be obtained through other methods. The issue is across many platforms of digital
communication but the most prominent and easiest to explain is with cell phones. The use of historical
location tracking data is not a violation of privacy, in fact there is no right to privacy as most
understand the term.
We are tracked almost constantly as participants of todays interconnected world. Every time we
connect to the internet whether it be using a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smart phone that connection
and the traffic passed is tracked. Even the infotainment systems in our cars such as the Onstar system
available in some General Motors vehicles is capable of tracking and in turn reporting out locations.
The IP address of the device used and the addresses connected to are tracked. If location services are
turned on as many applications require to function, then that is tracked as well. Companies collect this
information for many reasons with a major one being to sell targeted ads to us based on where we are
and what we normally do. This is something we agree to as part of the user agreements as often if it is
not agreed to the application will not work or at

mean, we can t all just sit around here while you do all the work! Soda said, giving her his signature

A Research On Social Network Marketing
Social Network Marketing Introduction Publicizing when all is said in done it is the methodology to
make sense of what things or organizations can be of excitement to client. Casual groups or Social
Media help in upgrading the elevating of relationship to new bits of learning about the brand, which
offers inventive ways to deal with realize the key publicizing undertakings, and also new methods to

association to actuate purchasers that one s association, things and/or organizations are beneficial.
Interpersonal association publicizing is strategy for advancing things using online gatherings, casual

Questions And Answers On Abraham Lincoln s Drifting Toward...
Lecture #4 Drifting Toward Disunion by Ayush Goel
Background Information
As a result of a crisis in Kansas, known as the Bleeding Kansas, the Democratic Party was divided.
Meanwhile, the Congress was divided on the topic of slavery, some strongly anti slavery and others
pro slavery.
In the election of 1856, three parties had representatives: the Democrats, the Republicans and the
American Party. The Democrats won, however the new president: James Buchanan, favored the
South.
Abraham Lincoln, known as Abe , came along and challenged the Senator Stephen Douglas to a
debate. In one of the debates, Douglas said that if the people voted out slavery he would favor them
over the Constitution, this was known as the Freeport Doctrine and it destroyed his reputation in the
South, ruining his chances of running as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Collapse of Compromise
 There were attempts of a compromise prior to the impending bloodshed.
 One of these compromise efforts were made by Senator James Henry Crittenden of Kentucky. He
proposed the Crittenden amendments (Crittenden Compromise) for the Constitution:
1. Slavery in all territories, now held, or hereafter acquired was to be prohibited north of 36o30 , but
south of that line it was to be given to federal protection.
2. The Congress was forbidden to abolish slavery within a slave state.
3. The Congress could not abolish slavery in District of Columbia.
4. The Congress could not interfere with interstate slave trade.
5. The Congress would provide full compensation to owners of rescued fugitive slaves.
6. No future amendment of the Constitution could change these amendments, or authorize Congress to
interfere with slavery in any slave

Domination And Inequalities In The Apartment By Jean Baker...
The Apartment
Power determines everything, how someone is defined, how someone acts, and someone is. In
Domination and Subordination by Jean Baker Miller, she shows both sides of inequality, a dominate
and a subordinate. There are two types inequality, temporary and permanent. The film, The Apartment
by Billy Wilder, starts off with a man, C.C.Baxter who is constantly allowing people to use his
apartment for their own personal pleasures. Baxter gives in to his co workers at the office to use his
apartment and often risking his basic needs for survival, like sleep. Mr. Sheldrake, Baxter s boss, has
the authority to treat others how he wants to. Fran Kubelik, the elevator woman, Baxter and Sheldrake
use everyday at work. Miss Kubelik tends to have a undercover relationship with Mr. Sheldrake.
These characters relationships of temporary or permanent inequality define their dominant or
subordinate behaviors.
Baxter and Sheldrake have a relationship of temporary inequalities. During the film, C.C Baxter
continuously goes through problems with his office buddies constantly needing his apartment. Baxter
believes no matter what he does or says with Mr. Sheldrake it will not be taken into consideration. Just
following doctors orders, I ve decided to become a mensch , Mr. Sheldrake that means being a human
and Baxter finally took charge (Apartment). Baxter s relationship to Mr. Sheldrake is a temporary
inequality situation due to him constantly taking orders from others. Miller s document claims that
dominants rely on Subordinates; lack of skill, knowledge etc... In Baxters position he is always giving
in to people s needs. But the most basic difference is the one between men and women and Baxter acts
like a woman in his relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. When Baxter and Sheldrake are talking about
Baxter s promotion he gave him a slight threat for his job. The dominant, Sheldrake understands that
power and him acting as a dominating man forces Baxter to behave as a subordinate and take his
orders. A similar relationship to Baxter and sheldrake is Miss Kubelik and Sheldrake.
Kubelik and Sheldrake are in a state of permanent inequality. Miss Kubelik has a undercover, not very
solid relationship with Mr. Sheldrake

3.08 Review and Critical Thinking Review Questions 1. Explain the different forms of child abuse?
Include Shaken Baby Syndrome in your response. The different forms of child abuse are physical
abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and Shaken Baby Syndrome. Physical abuse is violence
directed toward a child by a parent. Emotional abuse is when the victim feels worthless and rejected.
Sexual abuse is sexual contact between the child and an adult or even the perpetrator speaks to the
child in a sexually explicit way. Neglect is when parents fail to take care of their child s basic physical,
emotional, disciplinary, and educational needs. Shaken Baby Syndrome is a form of child abuse,

4. List and explain factors that lead to poor relationships and that increase the risk of child abuse.
Factors that lead to poor relationships are latchkey children, marital strife and divorce, substance
abuse, HIV/AIDS, and death. Latchkey children routinely spend time alone in home without adult
supervision. Children who are raised in homes that are full of conflict and hostility between parents
experience a high level of stress. Drug and alcohol abuse can hinder a person s self control and a
parent s ability to be responsible and a nurturing parent. HIV/AIDS is sexually transmitted, and both
parents are likely to be affected, so it leaves the child at risk of being orphaned by the disease. Dealing
with the death of loved ones is one of the most difficult aspects of life and there is no way to protect
children from this painful experience. 5. Why is it critical for a parent to be involved in their children s
education? It is critical for a parent to be involved in their children s education because it is important
for a child to have knowledge. Parents often help toddlers develop early academic skills by reading
books to them or helping them learn their ABCs and numbers. When a child starts school, parents
should communicate with their child s teachers and keep track of their academic progress. Parents of
older children should focus on teaching their children independent study

Charles Dickens Great Expectations
Many people say that writing is nothing more than a way of the author to express himself. This is true
in many cases but none as much as in Great Expectations. In many ways the narrator/protagonist Pip
is Charles Dickens in body and mind. While there are many differences between the story and Charles
Dickens life there remains one constant. This constant is the way Pip as the narrator feels, because
these feelings are Dickens s own feelings about the life he lead. Since Great Expectations was written
towards end of Charles Dickens life, he was wiser and able to make out the mistakes and regrets of his
life, and Pip experiences them all. While Great Expectations is seen as a tragic book not many people
really think about where these themes come from, and when the book is read with the knowledge of
Dickens life it truly reveals new meanings.
Charles John Huffam Dickens born February 7th, 1812, was born a poor man. When Charles Dickens
was 12 his father John Dickens was sent to jail because he had too much debt. Since Charles father
was sent to jail Charles had to drop out of school and join a shoe blacking company. When Charles no
longer had to work he felt betrayed by his parents for making him do what was their rightful job,
taking care of the family. He thought that the second he started working for that company his youth
was gone. Once his father had received the family inheritance Charles was able to go to school again
and his father was released from jail. When

The Relation Between Wen s Theorem And Lawton
In this work, we review a paper by Parker [4]. In [4] Parker derived several trace identities for M(3,
C). In this paper we improve on the results obtained by Parker [4]. We discuss the relation between
Wen s theorem and Lawton [1] and Will s work on the trace of the commutator
[8]. We also present the merits on how to parametrise pair of pants via traces and cross ratio. In the
last section we use a formula which is due to Pratoussevitch [6] to compute trace of matrices
generated by complex reflection.
Mathematics Subject Classification : 51M99
Keywords: Hermitian matrix, Hermitian form, Free group, Triangle group,
Special linear group, Special unitary group, Trace of a matrix.
1 Introduction
In his survey paper published as [4], Parker studied the connection between the geometry of M and
traces of Γ, where M is a complex hyperbolic orbifold written as H2
C
/Γ and Γ is a discrete, faithful representation of π1(M) to
Isom(H2
C). He did that by first considering the case where Γ is a free group on two generators and secondly,
looking at the case where Γ is a triangle group generated by complex reflections in three complex
lines. Several geometrical information connecting traces and complex hyperbolic space could be seen
in Parker [4].
Pratossevitch [6] also presented several formulas for the traces of elements in complex hyperbolic
triangle groups generated by complex reflections. In this paper we improve on the traces identities
found by Parker [4] on M(3, C).

Canada s Aging Population Essay
Canada, along with many other nations, is currently faced with an aging population. In Canada seniors
are the fastest growing age group and make more then half of the population. And the numbers of
older adults are higher in rural areas than in urban areas (Menec et al., 2015). Rural communities exist
throughout Canada where there are large aging populations and higher number of children, but there
are fewer working individuals as compared to urban communities (Menec et al., 2015). Many rural
areas are aging more quickly than its urban counterparts as many choose to move to a rural
community for the slow pace of life, attractive scenery and smaller community areas (Spina Menec,
2015, Menec et al., 2015). Rural seniors challenged with issue ... Show more content on

Thus, such communities will require the appropriate conditions to handle the needs of the aging. In
terms of physical environment, this includes such features as safety, open spaces to promote walking,
and age appropriate leisure activities Seniors in rural communities identified the need of walkable
sidewalks or accessible buildings as it not only supported older people in the form of physical exercise
but also easier commute to attend social or personal needs (Public Health Canada, 2009). In a Study
by Bascu et al, in 2012 about 40 percent of seniors experienced fall and related functional limitation.
The study revealed that seniors safety and security concerns tend to relate more to a poor physical
environment which adds to the number of accidents, including falls and complications. Seasonal
conditions such as icy, wet pathways that hinder mobility increase fall and isolation. Creating a safe
physical environment enables seniors to live independently and recreate personal identity in the face
of the challenges of aging (Keating, Swindle Fletcher, 2011). It may, however, be challenging to create
this environment. An underlying issue is that funding is needed to ensure the availability of the
resources

1. What control charts should be used to determine whether the process is in control or out of control?
We should use x Charts and R Charts to determine whether the process is in control or out of control.
X Charts are usually used when we know standard deviation of the sample. We calculate the upper and
lower control limits based on that data. For this data, we assumed the standard deviation as 3 and we
found the upper and lower limits for each day s shifts.
According to Monday Shift 1 (00:00 to 08:00), the lower limit is 69.23 hence the numbers that are
below 69.23, are becoming out of control. And the upper limit is 71.91, so the numbers which are

productivity is shift 3 from 16:00 to 00:00.
Finally, for Wednesday the best shift is from 16:00 to 00:00. Because the customers expect the bags

For Monday shift 2, from 08:00 to 16:00, it seems more profitable when we considered with the other
shifts on Monday. The upper and lower control limits are 4879 and 4865 pounds. Furthermore, for
Tuesday, as same as Monday shift 2, from 08:00 to 16:00 is more suitable than other shifts for
customers. We calculated the upper and lower control limits as 4942 and 4900 pounds. For the last

his uncle, a German baron, along with his optimistic scholar, Pangloss, and his young, beautiful
cousin, Cunégonde. When Candide falls in love with Cunégonde and his uncle sees them kissing,
Candide is thrown out of his home and enrolls in the Bulgar army. After being beaten for wandering
from camp, Candide flees to Holland and runs into an ugly beggar, who he is told to be Pangloss. He
tells Candide that Cunégonde and her family have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Voltaire uses Pangloss and a contrasting character, Martin, to point out the shortcomings in Leibniz s
philosophy.
A contrast to the views of Pangloss is the character Martin. Martin, a pessimist, is a friend and advisor
to Candide whom he meets on his journey. Martin continuously tries to prove to Candide that there is
little virtue, morality, and happiness in the world. When a cheerful couple is seen walking and singing,
Candide tells Martin, At least you must admit that these people are happy (80). Martin answers
Candide s comment with the reply, I wager they are not (80). Martin suggests that Candide invite the
couple to dine at his hotel. As the young girl, now found to be Paquette, tells her story, Martin takes
pleasure in knowing he has won the wager.
Another contrast to this best of all possible worlds is Eldorado. Voltaire describes Eldorado as an
extremely peaceful and serene country. Eldorado, a place that is impossible to find, has no laws, jails,
war, or need for material goods. Voltaire uses Eldorado as an epitome of the best of all possible
worlds. It contrasts the real outside world in which war and suffering are everyday occurrences.
Another example of how Voltaire ridicules Pangloss optimistic philosophy is the mention of the
Lisbon earthquake and fire. Even though the disastrous earthquake took over 30,000 lives, Pangloss
still upheld his

He is Staring at Me
Grant Morgan is staring at you. Della whispers to me as we sit in Economics class the next day. Then
you stop staring or else he s going to see you. I whisper back. Okay fine. She focuses back on her
textbook. Is he still staring? I asked a minute later. I thought you didn t want to know. She teased me.
Just check! I see her glance behind me once again. Yup. He s still staring. The bell rings for class
change and I gather my stuff and walk out the door with Della still gushing about Grant staring at me
when I hear someone call my name. Grant pushes his way out the classroom before stopping in front
of me. Hey Skye. Hey Grant. I smile. How s your day going so far? Pretty good. Yours? Good, He
answers. Are you going to Priscilla s party tonight? He asks. Um, I didn t really think about it much.
Why? I was just wondering if you wanted to go. We could hang out if you like. Della and I kinda
made a promise not to go to any parties alone. I told him. Della? Grant stared at my best friend
expectantly. You know I never say no to a party. Della beams at him. Great. Grant is smiling, showing
off his Colgate smile. So I ll see you then? I nod my head. Yeah. Just then the warning bell rings. I ll
see you later. Bye. I wave and watch him walk off. Della is gushing about of cute of a couple Jake and

Qualities Of Jose Rizal
How can someone be considered as a hero? What are the traits and characteristics that are expected to
be possessed by a hero? A person s perception of what a hero is varies from one another but there are
certain characteristics that every hero has such as courage, altruistic , charismatic, visionary and a
strong will to name a few. As we all know, Dr. Jose P. Rizal is the Philippine national hero and he
certainly have all the above mentioned characteristics. The most important question is: how did he
acquire these heroic traits? Was he really born and destined to be a hero? The answer is no. He was
born an ordinary human being, an ordinary Filipino. His nationalistic virtue developed throughout his
life and was not a natural acquisition. Personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

emphasized how important it is to use our mother tongue because it gives us a sense of identity and

Moreover, communication would be much easier and faster and unity would be more evident if
Filipinos can effectively communicate with each another. If Filipinos were not divided because of
language barriers, the fight for freedom from Spanish and American conquests would probably be

Introduction to Forensic Investigations
Locard s Exchange Principle and the use of Fingerprints: Edmond Locard (1877 1966) was a French
scientist specialised in both medicine and law. Inspired by the work of Hans Gross, it was Edmond
that created the concept that all objects of any material should leave traces of itself upon whatever it
touches, even if it is the minutest amount, simply put as Every Contact leaves a trace, Locard (1923).
This is commonly known as Locard s Exchange Principle. He believed that in circumstances such as a
crime, his principle could be used to find evidence of who and perhaps even how that crime was
committed by finding small materials, either physical or chemical at the scene of the crime that would
directly link back to the offender. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even when they get packed away in boxes they could chip on the handle. Everything can affect an
objects uniquness. If a window is pryed open to gain entry to building, the screwdriver used to pry it
open will share different properties to every other. By studying the `striation` marks on a window, we
will clearly be able to see that there are a certain number of grooves that make the mark. By
comparing this to the screwdriver that was found in a suspects house, this could show that this was the
screwdriver was used in the offence. This could then be used as evidence in court to prosecute the said
suspect. Individualisation is pretty much based upon inductive reasoning; which is used a lot in
Forensic Investigations. By saying we have never seen two screwdrivers the same leads us to believe
that there are no two screwdrivers in the world. The same refers to the uniqueness of fingerprints, a
pair has never been found; but if a pair was ever to be found, this would mean the entire theory of
individualisation would fall apart. Referring back to Popper s work on falsifiability, is it possible to
prove that this theory can be wrong? In order to do so you would have to check every single item of
that class ever made in great detail. This is too much to check on and so there is no way we can prove
this test to be false. Paul Leland Kirk believed that individualisation was a key idea in Forensic
Investigations and stated that

The Dark Knight Rises Film
Even to this day, many have failed to replicate what has been known to be the most successful
superhero trilogy of all time. With awards totaling south of over seventy total wins and over 100
nominations, the Dark Knight Rises remains to be everything a film needs to be to always remain a
timeless classic. The method the team used to overwhelm the world with this immaculate trilogy was
to create the last installment as more than just a film, but as a piece of art as well. Many methods were
used to reach this profound approach to filmmaking, however it was the brilliant cinematography, the
acting that brought the characters to life, and the director s genius ending that transitioned the Dark
Knight Rises from an ordinary film, into an admired piece of art to all.
One of the major reasons for the success of the Dark Knight Rises film is because of its award
winning cinematography that the brilliant Mr. Wally Pfister orchestrated throughout the vigorous 3
hour film. Without a doubt, the vividness portrayed from the gritty lightening aids the goal of
achieving timeless art through the process of using natural light to depict the different array of natural
colors to create beauty. Another method of the brilliant cinematography that this film contains is the
directing of the action sequences. Christopher Nolan constructed a scene prop that allows him to film
night scenes during the day. This allows him to overexpose the lightening during the actual fighting
that gives those

Satire In Huckleberry Finn
Huck, the narrator of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is young, naïve, and rather an outsider of
society; this allows Twain to impart stronger commentary on society. Huck s outsider status and
naïveté presents a forgivable narrator, one who saying something crass or shocking about society is
not a product of their character, but one of their situations. Readers are more apt to forgive comments
on society if they perceive them as innocent in this case that the narrator, Huck, doesn t truly know
what he s saying. Huck s naïveté allows him to convey Twain s comments on society based on his
experiences and without judgment, allowing the reader to form their own judgments, such as when
Huck wanted to smoke and asked the widow to let me.

Dementia is often used as a label with those who have a diagnosis being assumed to have the same
symptoms and experiences and are often stripped of their identity as an individual and as a result may
be discriminated against with their choices removed as people assume they no longer have capacity.
Many carers of individuals with dementia can feel that they are being isolated from social situations as
a result of the diagnosis of those who they are caring for. They also may feel that they have been
discriminated against as a result of that diagnosis. Myths regarding the dementia diagnosis and its
effects can result in individuals feeling they are no longer valued by society and those they care for.
3.4 Dementia is an illness which most people are afraid of being diagnosed with or for their loved
ones t obe diagnosed with. It is important that there is support available for individuals and their carers
as soon as possible following diagnosis and throughout their journey. There are support groups such as
dementia cafes who offer support and a safe space for both those who have been diagnosed and their
carers. There groups provide carers and individuals with a group who understand how they may be
feeling and are able to offer practical advice. These groups can also allay fears regarding the future for
those who have been diagnosed and their carers. During

Biology Enzyme Experiement
An enzyme is a biological catalyst. It speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation energy required
to start the reaction. It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged unless certain limiting factors are
introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH and
temperature. When an enzyme is at its optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In their
globular structure, one or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small number of
amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate binds and the
reaction takes place. An enzyme has an active site, which has a unique shape into which only a
substrate of the exact same unique shape can fit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to curdle when renin is
added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it reaches an optimal point in which
enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme activity decreases.
Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements of the temperature
of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I can say that at pH level 7 and 11 the
time taken for the milk to curdle were really low and close, at pH level 8 the time taken was high and
at pH level 9 no result was taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t function the at this particular pH
level.
In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time it takes for the
milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might not have been obtained thus
impacted on our results.

Edward Beladike, S Theory Of Edward Thorndike s Law Of Effect
Edward Thorndike was born August 31, 1874, in Williamsburg, Massachusetts to Robert and Abbie
Thorndike. He continued his undergraduate work from Wesleyan University and proceed his
postgraduate composition at Harvard. By the age of 23, he completed his Ph.D. from Columbia
University. Thorndike started his professional career at the Women s College of Western Reserve
University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he taught for one year, before accepting an education
proposition at Teachers College at Columbia University in 1899. Thorndike remained at Teachers
College until his departure in 1940; his career centered largely on evaluating the learning process and
testing intelligence. Edward Thorndike was a powerful psychologist who is often referred to as the
establisher of modern educational psychology. He was perhaps most known for his remarkable puzzle
box experiments with feline which led to the elaboration of his law of effect. Thorndike s
commencement suggests that responses instantly followed by gratification will be more credible to
happen in the future. The law of effect also suggests that behaviors followed by displeasure or
discouragement will become less probable to happen. Thorndike s commencement also played a
significant role in the elaboration of behaviorism and B.F. Skinner s operant conditioning. Thorndike s
law of effect refers to human behavior and is supported by his confidence that human behavior can be
analyzed in the stimulus response units. Edward s

Techniques In The Red Umbrella
The Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzalez and the photograph Migration by Jose Hernandez
Claire share the same subject, migration. The author and the artist use a lot of the same techniques to
expose the subject of migration, but they also use many different techniques. They also express the
way they feel about the results of migration. There are several differences between the excerpt and the
photo, but these are some similarities that can be found between the techniques used. One technique
that can be found in the picture and the text is the topic, the topic shared is migration... In The Red
Umbrella, the parents of Lucy and Frankie wanted to send them away to protect them from the
revolution. In the picture Migration several male adults can be seen on top of what seems to be a train,

In The Red Umbrella, everything is revealed through dialogue, the feelings, the setting, and the
reactions. When Frankie revealed he didn t want to leave Cuba, he revealed it through dialogue by
expressing his feelings to his parents. In the photograph, there is absolutely no dialogue, because it s a
photo! Another difference is imagery. In the picture, the biggest technique used is imagery, because
you can clearly see what the artist is trying to show you, like the men riding on a train with worried
expressions. In The Red Umbrella there is very little imagery. Lastly, a difference between the two is
the plot. You see, in The Red Umbrella there is a story... The author makes sure to explain what is
going on, starting with revealing who is involved. In the picture, there isn t a plot because there is only
a picture. We don t know why these men are actually leaving, or where they are going, we don t know

before, and although so much time has gone by and the tree has aged she still offers him the same joys
he once had as a child. The boy however does not seem interested in playing in leaves instead he has
another purpose for being there. I want a boat that will take me far away from here. Can you give me a
boat? Being like a mother figure the tree gives the boy the only thing she can think of, her trunk, in
hopes that this will eave the boy happy. And so the boy cut down her trunk and made a boat and sailed
away, And the tree was happy...but not really. This shows the tree as sad for once again giving the boy
something he wanted, leaving her with less and now she finds it hard to be happy for the boy. In the

the boy anything anymore, she has no leaves and no branches. She tells him that all she is now is an

The Psychology Of Self Esteem
Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a
young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young
Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per
a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they
deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set
that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost
anything began?
The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of
Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life.
This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem
they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain
more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that
no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image
may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still
encourage rewards be given to all children.
There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they
are terrified of how

Summary Of The Wholly Innocent By Bruce Dawe
Just as Bruce Dawe s poem The Wholly Innocent serves to provide a voice to aborted children, the
purpose of The Land of Fair Go is very similar, providing a voice to children who came from third
world countries detained in detention centres, and are similarly voiceless to people of the first world.
Dawe also wrote regarding controversial issues in society, as does The Wholly innocent, which
addresses immigration from third world, war torn countries. The treatment of refugees and asylum
seekers when they approach Australia s borders and other first world countries is very controversial,

Irony has been incorporated by the author to make the audience think more deeply regarding this
label, and also shows a different perspective to this label throughout the poem. In the first stanza, both
poems have incorporated repetition, which occurs at the beginning of lines 1 and 2, and 3 and 4, which
serve to draw attention and make those line more memorable. In Dawe s poem the first stanza states
how aborted children haven t been outside or felt parental care, while in The Land of Fair Go similar
subjects are explored and it also says how children detained haven t been outside due to the fact they
are either not allowed or are too scared due to the discrimination they face when been outside by
locals. Stanza 1, line 3 also refers to the lack of parental care detained children receive, commonly due
to been separated from their families. The second stanza of The Wholly Innocent states how human
right to vote is taken away from aborted children, while the the second stanza of The Land of Fair Go
discusses how the human right to freedom and the the human right to seek asylum are taken away
from detainees. In stanzas 3, an sibilance across the stormy seas I went has been incorporated in order
to draw attention to those words, highlighting the conditions through which asylum seeker travel in
order to try find a place which would offer them a fair go , and how instead they were send away to
offshore detention centre. The following stanza incorporates a metaphor describing the deportation of
asylum as a great game of political chess , showing how the actions of the government only serve as
something to gain popularity and advertise how they ve stopped the boats , showing how they are
simply pawns considered to be the weakest piece in a game of chess and dehumanised. In The Wholly

  • 2. The Five Steps Of The Federal Budget Process I. Introduction The federal budget process is a lengthy and complex process that involves monitoring, adjusting, and reporting on the current year s budget. The budget process is put in place to ensure there is enough funds for many things such as wage war, provide housing, and maintain streets (Rubin 2014). Some of the actors are Bureau Chiefs, The Executive Budget Office, and Chief Executive Office. It all begins with the Federal Budget Process and the President s proposed budget, while directly involving the execution process. The budget execution process aims to reduce the risk of overspending, but when the budget is nearing completion, and it seems overspending will occur, budget sequestration comes into play. However, if not used correctly, sequestration could do more harm than good to our economy and cost important programs their funding. Misuse could also lead to the waste of time and money, which does not benefit the warfighter or the taxpayers. II. Federal Budget Process There are five steps in the federal budget process and it involves many different actors. The first step of this process involves the President submitting a budget request to Congress. This budget request includes the way the President best sees money being spent, it provides suggestions. The second step is the House and Senate passing budget resolutions, they do so by casting a vote on their budget resolutions. The third step is the House and Senate subcommittees marking up appropriation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The authors who wrote Passionate Shepard are Marlowe which is the first poem. The nymph s Reply was written by Raleigh, the last poem Raleigh was right was written Williams. Williams transformed Marlowe and Raleigh s central ideas by focusing on flowers, love and nature. Williams transformed the central idea of flowers because in Marlowe s poem the shepherd says, A cap of flower and a kirtle . • 4. Shakespeare s Macbeth-Tragic Hero The Tragedy of Macbeth The Tragedy of Macbeth is one of Shakespeare s greatest stagewrites. He shows Macbeth in many different forms as a character. Macbeth is an ever changing character. Lady Macbeth adds on to this changing personality. Shakespeare hits all these points in three categories, known as tragic hero, dynamic character, round character. Macbeth is best known as a tragic hero because he fits into all the elements of a tragic hero which are, high social rank, tragic flaw, suffers complete ruin or death and faces downfall with courage and dignity. Macbeth has a high social rank in the beginning of the play he started out as the Thane of Glamis then was promoted to Thane of Cawdor by the king, and then he played fouly for the crown. In this case the king sent Ross to deliver a message that said And for and earnest of greater honor, he bade me, from him, call thee Thane of Cawdor. (1.3.104 105) To show him playing fouly for the crown I go and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is knell That summons thee to heaven or hell. • 5. Creative And Practical Skills Essay Introduction According to the proposed theory of human intelligence and its development (Sternberg, 1999a), a common set of processes underlies all aspects of intelligence. These processes are hypothesized to be universal. These processes are applied to different kinds of tasks and situations depending on whether a given problem requires practical skills and creative skills. Practical skills used to implement, apply, or put into practice ideas in real world contexts. It involves individuals applying their abilities to the kinds of daily problems they confront on the job or at home. Practical intelligence is the application of the components of intelligence to experience to: adapt to, (b) shape, and (c) select environments. In contrast with practical skills, creative skills used to create, invent, discover, imagine, suppose, or hypothesize. Tests of creative intelligence go beyond tests of analytical intelligence in measuring performance on tasks that require individuals to deal with relatively novel situations. Sternberg has shown that assessing a range of abilities beyond that assessed by conventional tests of intelligence allows one to tap sources of individual differences measured little or not at all by these tests (Sternberg, 1985). It is also true that people are either practically or creatively skilful or they have these both skills innate with them. But in consideration to its value in day to day life, practical skill can be considered more important than creative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jowett and Victoria O Donnell provide a ten question framework for analyzing persuasive techniques. This paper analyzes two political advertisements, Peace Little Girl (Daisy) from the 1964 U.S. presidential election and Prouder, Stronger, Better (Morning in America) from the 1984 election, using Jowett and O Donnell s Framework and other models. (U) Peace Little Girl (Daisy) Campaign Advertisement (U) During the 1964 election of Lyndon B. Johnson versus Barry Goldwater, the Peace Little Girl (Daisy) commercial advocated for the audience to vote for Johnson. The commercial shows a young girl in a field picking pedals off of a daisy. The girl is later killed by a nuclear bomb explosion. The ideology and purpose of this propaganda campaign was to persuade people to vote for Johnson. In this advertisement, Johnson stands for peace and stability. This advertisement infers that a nuclear war is a reality if Johnson is not elected, and Goldwater becomes president. This advertisement does not directly state that Goldwater could start a war, but alludes that his extreme views could put the U.S. at risk. This advertisement s intent is also to portray Goldwater as an extremist, diminishing his chance to build a moderate image to appeal to more voters. (U) The context in which this propaganda occurs is an era with a prevailing mood of fear, unrest, and uncertainty. Americans feared the threat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Using A Warrant Should Not Be Allowed Essay Many cases have been brought to court and are continuing to be brought that say location tracking without a warrant should not be allowed. The argument most often used is that it is a violation of the right to privacy. A warrant is not the only way to obtain these records nor should it be. There are valid reasons that data can be obtained through other methods. The issue is across many platforms of digital communication but the most prominent and easiest to explain is with cell phones. The use of historical location tracking data is not a violation of privacy, in fact there is no right to privacy as most understand the term. We are tracked almost constantly as participants of todays interconnected world. Every time we connect to the internet whether it be using a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smart phone that connection and the traffic passed is tracked. Even the infotainment systems in our cars such as the Onstar system available in some General Motors vehicles is capable of tracking and in turn reporting out locations. The IP address of the device used and the addresses connected to are tracked. If location services are turned on as many applications require to function, then that is tracked as well. Companies collect this information for many reasons with a major one being to sell targeted ads to us based on where we are and what we normally do. This is something we agree to as part of the user agreements as often if it is not agreed to the application will not work or at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Domination And Inequalities In The Apartment By Jean Baker... The Apartment Power determines everything, how someone is defined, how someone acts, and someone is. In Domination and Subordination by Jean Baker Miller, she shows both sides of inequality, a dominate and a subordinate. There are two types inequality, temporary and permanent. The film, The Apartment by Billy Wilder, starts off with a man, C.C.Baxter who is constantly allowing people to use his apartment for their own personal pleasures. Baxter gives in to his co workers at the office to use his apartment and often risking his basic needs for survival, like sleep. Mr. Sheldrake, Baxter s boss, has the authority to treat others how he wants to. Fran Kubelik, the elevator woman, Baxter and Sheldrake use everyday at work. Miss Kubelik tends to have a undercover relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. These characters relationships of temporary or permanent inequality define their dominant or subordinate behaviors. Baxter and Sheldrake have a relationship of temporary inequalities. During the film, C.C Baxter continuously goes through problems with his office buddies constantly needing his apartment. Baxter believes no matter what he does or says with Mr. Sheldrake it will not be taken into consideration. Just following doctors orders, I ve decided to become a mensch , Mr. Sheldrake that means being a human and Baxter finally took charge (Apartment). Baxter s relationship to Mr. Sheldrake is a temporary inequality situation due to him constantly taking orders from others. Miller s document claims that dominants rely on Subordinates; lack of skill, knowledge etc... In Baxters position he is always giving in to people s needs. But the most basic difference is the one between men and women and Baxter acts like a woman in his relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. When Baxter and Sheldrake are talking about Baxter s promotion he gave him a slight threat for his job. The dominant, Sheldrake understands that power and him acting as a dominating man forces Baxter to behave as a subordinate and take his orders. A similar relationship to Baxter and sheldrake is Miss Kubelik and Sheldrake. Kubelik and Sheldrake are in a state of permanent inequality. Children who are raised in homes that are full of conflict and hostility between parents experience a high level of stress. Drug and alcohol abuse can hinder a person s self control and a parent s ability to be responsible and a nurturing parent. HIV/AIDS is sexually transmitted, and both parents are likely to be affected, so it leaves the child at risk of being orphaned by the disease. • 17. Charles Dickens Great Expectations Many people say that writing is nothing more than a way of the author to express himself. This is true in many cases but none as much as in Great Expectations. In many ways the narrator/protagonist Pip is Charles Dickens in body and mind. While there are many differences between the story and Charles Dickens life there remains one constant. This constant is the way Pip as the narrator feels, because these feelings are Dickens s own feelings about the life he lead. Since Great Expectations was written towards end of Charles Dickens life, he was wiser and able to make out the mistakes and regrets of his life, and Pip experiences them all. While Great Expectations is seen as a tragic book not many people really think about where these themes come from, and when the book is read with the knowledge of Dickens life it truly reveals new meanings. Charles John Huffam Dickens born February 7th, 1812, was born a poor man. When Charles Dickens was 12 his father John Dickens was sent to jail because he had too much debt. Since Charles father was sent to jail Charles had to drop out of school and join a shoe blacking company. When Charles no longer had to work he felt betrayed by his parents for making him do what was their rightful job, taking care of the family. In this paper we improve on the results obtained by Parker [4]. We discuss the relation between Wen s theorem and Lawton [1] and Will s work on the trace of the commutator [8]. We also present the merits on how to parametrise pair of pants via traces and cross ratio. In the last section we use a formula which is due to Pratoussevitch [6] to compute trace of matrices generated by complex reflection. Mathematics Subject Classification : 51M99 Keywords: Hermitian matrix, Hermitian form, Free group, Triangle group, Special linear group, Special unitary group, Trace of a matrix. 1 Introduction In his survey paper published as [4], Parker studied the connection between the geometry of M and traces of Γ, where M is a complex hyperbolic orbifold written as H2 C /Γ and Γ is a discrete, faithful representation of π1(M) to Isom(H2 C). He did that by first considering the case where Γ is a free group on two generators and secondly, looking at the case where Γ is a triangle group generated by complex reflections in three complex lines. Several geometrical information connecting traces and complex hyperbolic space could be seen in Parker [4]. Rural communities exist throughout Canada where there are large aging populations and higher number of children, but there are fewer working individuals as compared to urban communities (Menec et al., 2015). They also may feel that they have been discriminated against as a result of that diagnosis. Myths regarding the dementia diagnosis and its effects can result in individuals feeling they are no longer valued by society and those they care for. 3.4 Dementia is an illness which most people are afraid of being diagnosed with or for their loved ones t obe diagnosed with. It is important that there is support available for individuals and their carers as soon as possible following diagnosis and throughout their journey. There are support groups such as dementia cafes who offer support and a safe space for both those who have been diagnosed and their carers. There groups provide carers and individuals with a group who understand how they may be feeling and are able to offer practical advice. These groups can also allay fears regarding the future for those who have been diagnosed and their carers. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Biology Enzyme Experiement An enzyme is a biological catalyst. It speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation energy required to start the reaction. It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged unless certain limiting factors are introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH and temperature. When an enzyme is at its optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In their globular structure, one or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small number of amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate binds and the reaction takes place. An enzyme has an active site, which has a unique shape into which only a substrate of the exact same unique shape can fit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to curdle when renin is added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it reaches an optimal point in which enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme activity decreases. Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements of the temperature of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I can say that at pH level 7 and 11 the time taken for the milk to curdle were really low and close, at pH level 8 the time taken was high and at pH level 9 no result was taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t function the at this particular pH level. In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time it takes for the milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might not have been obtained thus impacted on our results. VARIABLES Independent variable the pH level of the substrate Dependant variable The time it takes for the milk to curdle Controlled variable The size of the test tube, amount of milk poured into each test tube, amount of renin mixed inside test tube, same weather condition, same temperature of the milk inside the test tube. • 32. Edward Beladike, S Theory Of Edward Thorndike s Law Of Effect Edward Thorndike was born August 31, 1874, in Williamsburg, Massachusetts to Robert and Abbie Thorndike. He continued his undergraduate work from Wesleyan University and proceed his postgraduate composition at Harvard. By the age of 23, he completed his Ph.D. from Columbia University. Thorndike started his professional career at the Women s College of Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he taught for one year, before accepting an education proposition at Teachers College at Columbia University in 1899. Thorndike remained at Teachers College until his departure in 1940; his career centered largely on evaluating the learning process and testing intelligence. Edward Thorndike was a powerful psychologist who is often referred to as the establisher of modern educational psychology. He was perhaps most known for his remarkable puzzle box experiments with feline which led to the elaboration of his law of effect. Thorndike s commencement suggests that responses instantly followed by gratification will be more credible to happen in the future. The law of effect also suggests that behaviors followed by displeasure or discouragement will become less probable to happen. Thorndike s commencement also played a significant role in the elaboration of behaviorism and B.F. Skinner s operant conditioning. Thorndike s law of effect refers to human behavior and is supported by his confidence that human behavior can be analyzed in the stimulus response units. Edward s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Techniques In The Red Umbrella The Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzalez and the photograph Migration by Jose Hernandez Claire share the same subject, migration. The author and the artist use a lot of the same techniques to expose the subject of migration, but they also use many different techniques. They also express the way they feel about the results of migration. There are several differences between the excerpt and the photo, but these are some similarities that can be found between the techniques used. One technique that can be found in the picture and the text is the topic, the topic shared is migration... In The Red Umbrella, the parents of Lucy and Frankie wanted to send them away to protect them from the revolution. In the picture Migration several male adults can be seen on top of what seems to be a train, which leads me to believe that they are migrating based on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Red Umbrella, everything is revealed through dialogue, the feelings, the setting, and the reactions. When Frankie revealed he didn t want to leave Cuba, he revealed it through dialogue by expressing his feelings to his parents. In the photograph, there is absolutely no dialogue, because it s a photo! Another difference is imagery. In the picture, the biggest technique used is imagery, because you can clearly see what the artist is trying to show you, like the men riding on a train with worried expressions. In The Red Umbrella there is very little imagery. Lastly, a difference between the two is the plot. You see, in The Red Umbrella there is a story... The author makes sure to explain what is going on, starting with revealing who is involved. In the picture, there isn t a plot because there is only a picture. We don t know why these men are actually leaving, or where they are going, we don t know anything except the fact that they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Shel Silverstein and The Giving Tree The boy then visits again asking the tree for a house so he can have a family; the tree then gives the boy her branches to provide what he wants. However, the boy does not stay, he wonders off into his own world with the tree s branches. As the boy comes back once again the tree is just as happy as before, and although so much time has gone by and the tree has aged she still offers him the same joys he once had as a child. The boy however does not seem interested in playing in leaves instead he has another purpose for being there. I want a boat that will take me far away from here. Can you give me a boat? Being like a mother figure the tree gives the boy the only thing she can think of, her trunk, in hopes that this will eave the boy happy. And so the boy cut down her trunk and made a boat and sailed away, And the tree was happy...but not really. This shows the tree as sad for once again giving the boy something he wanted, leaving her with less and now she finds it hard to be happy for the boy. In the very last seen an old man comes back to the tree, as a reaction the tree exclaims that she can not give the boy anything anymore, she has no leaves and no branches. She tells him that all she is now is an old stump. I don t need very much now, Said the boy. Just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired. As the old man tells the tree that all he needs now in life is the simple pleasure of relaxing the tree sees an opportunity to gain back everything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Psychology Of Self Esteem Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost anything began? The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life. This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still encourage rewards be given to all children. There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they are terrified of how ... • 36. Summary Of The Wholly Innocent By Bruce Dawe Just as Bruce Dawe s poem The Wholly Innocent serves to provide a voice to aborted children, the purpose of The Land of Fair Go is very similar, providing a voice to children who came from third world countries detained in detention centres, and are similarly voiceless to people of the first world. Dawe also wrote regarding controversial issues in society, as does The Wholly innocent, which addresses immigration from third world, war torn countries. The treatment of refugees and asylum seekers when they approach Australia s borders and other first world countries is very controversial, and WRITER S STATEMENTthere is a lot of secrecy regarding the conditions by the government. Irony has been incorporated by the author to make the audience think more deeply regarding this label, and also shows a different perspective to this label throughout the poem. In the first stanza, both poems have incorporated repetition, which occurs at the beginning of lines 1 and 2, and 3 and 4, which serve to draw attention and make those line more memorable. In Dawe s poem the first stanza states how aborted children haven t been outside or felt parental care, while in The Land of Fair Go similar subjects are explored and it also says how children detained haven t been outside due to the fact they are either not allowed or are too scared due to the discrimination they face when been outside by locals. Stanza 1, line 3 also refers to the lack of parental care detained children receive, commonly due to been separated from their families. The second stanza of The Wholly Innocent states how human right to vote is taken away from aborted children, while the the second stanza of The Land of Fair Go discusses how the human right to freedom and the the human right to seek asylum are taken away from detainees. In stanzas 3, an sibilance across the stormy seas I went has been incorporated in order to draw attention to those words, highlighting the conditions through which asylum seeker travel in order to try find a place which would offer them a fair go , and how instead they were send away to offshore detention centre. The following stanza incorporates a metaphor describing the deportation of asylum as a great game of political chess , showing how the actions of the government only serve as something to gain popularity and advertise how they ve stopped the boats , showing how they are simply pawns considered to be the weakest piece in a game of chess and dehumanised.
