Human Wildlife Conflicts in Kenya
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction This chapter comprises of the background, statement of the problem, objectives of the
study, research questions, significance of the study, the scope of the study and the conceptual
framework.
1.2 Background to the problem Every 10 years, the IUCN World Parks Congress (WPC) brings
together conservation experts from around the world to share information and ideas, and set a global
policy agenda for protected areas. The 5th IUCN World Parks Congress was held in Durban, South
Africa from September 8 17, 2004, and was attended by approximately 3,000 protected area experts,
practitioners, and decision makers. The 5th WPC brought human wildlife conflict (HWC) to the global
stage as part of an effort to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
WCS has been implementing conservation activities in wildlife region for decades, with significant
wildlife conservation programs in: Indonesia (since1990), Malaysia (since 1984), Papua New Guinea
(since 1977) and Fiji (since 2000).
WCS works at multiple scales to:
i. Conserve living seascapes and viable populations of species ii. Advance knowledge, through
collection and analysis of ecological and social science data, to inform conservation action iii. Build
capacity, establish strong partnerships, and support stakeholder engagement iv. Monitor and evaluate
the effectiveness of conservation efforts for long term success v Address emerging global challenges
through innovative solutions to challenges posed by climate change, extraction of natural resources,
the need to sustain human livelihoods, and contain the spread of diseases and other threats to wildlife
and human health In Southwest Cambodia, the Cambodian government established a team of 45
rangers to patrol critical biodiversity areas in the central Cardamom Mountains. This was started in
March 2001 and the team worked together with the International Conservation team. The ranger teams
protect the area s key wildlife species, including the Asian elephant, tiger, Asiatic black bear, and
pileated gibbon. The goal of the CCP is to secure the 100,000 acre Central Cardamom s

Analysis Of Ram Charan s New York Times Bestseller,...
Strategic implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to
accomplish strategic objectives and goals. It should be considered the blueprint for realizing the
organization s vision. The success of any strategy is solely dependent upon the effectiveness of its
implementation and execution. Ram Charan s New York Times bestseller, Execution: The Discipline
of Getting Things Done, refers to implementation and execution of strategy as a systematic way of
exposing reality and acting on it. The framework for successful implementation includes building an
organization capable of executing strategy, proper resource allocation, support policies, continuous
improvement, performance based incentives, and strategic leadership. KaBloom founder, David
Hartstein, provided a sound strategy to realize his vision, however flaws in various elements of
implementation led to continued problems for KaBloom. Executing the Vision As we learned in
Section 3: Strategy Formulation, KaBloom sought to employ a differentiation strategy in effort to
create a competitive edge. They created brand recognition and a niche within the market through
visual differentiation, low cost, and product variety. Eye catching stores, strategically located in high
traffic areas, drew customers into the serene garden like atmosphere with flowers cascading onto the
storefront sidewalk. Their brand recognition was created through this concept of store design, which

Christine Wilkie Stibb
Christine Wilkie Stibb s The Outside Child In And Out Of The Book examines the construction of the
child subject within a text, and contextualizes that construction by connecting to historical, social and
political events outside the text. She does this by taking real world (ie: historical, social and political)
instances and connecting them to each book. Each chapter focuses on a different construction of the
child outsider: outsider (the child as subject and the creation of subjectivity); displaced (refugees and
asylum seekers); erased (subjecting the child s body to public gaze and erasure of his or her identity);
abject (those expelled from the hierarchies); unattached (loss of parents and idea of home, moving
from one place to another, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This chapter explores the stories of immigrants and refugees, or other asylum seekers. She explains
they are works of literature, not case histories, but they do more than exploit for the purposes of
entertainment the sorts of distressful situations in which some real children find themselves. Literature
at its best is what most convinces us of the realities of other people s identities and selfhoods, so that
these novels, responsibly written and attempting authenticity, act as powerful and memorable case
histories which are as true as, or truer than, factually accurate ones. (26) Upon looking at the UNCRC
mentioned above Wilkie Stibbs examines the westernized and industrialized construction of the child
and childhood that anyone under eighteen is a child, and they shall be protected (24). However, in
historical documents references, including the French Revolution s 1795 Declaration of the Rights of
Man and the Citizen, and bringing up the idea of child labor and child soldiers, each nation has its own
conception of what it is to be a child. Rachel Anderson s The War Orphan, Derek Gregory s The
Colonial Present, Beverley Naidoo s The Other Side of Truth, Elizabeth Laird s Kiss the Dust,

Portrayal of Women in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman...
Portrayal of Women in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Although Death of a Salesman is mainly about a salesman named Willy Loman, the almost hidden
presence of the women in the novel goes all too often unnoticed. Linda Loman seems to be the glue
that holds the Loman clan together, as Willy, Biff, and Happy are all deluded in one way or another.
Arthur Miller depicts Willy s wife in a very specific way, and this is a very crucial part of the story. He
depicts the other women in the story in ways that complement Linda s distinct nature. Although Linda
s role as a woman in society is extremely limited, she is a heroic character, both wife and mother to
some very sad and twisted characters.
Linda is technically the female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here is the dialogue that tells us about her and her relation to her husband.
HOWARD S VOICE. Go on, say something. (Pause.) Well, you gonna talk?
HIS WIFE. I can t think of anything.
HOWARD S VOICE. Well, talk it s turning.~
HIS WIFE (shyly, beaten). Hello. (Silence.) Oh Howard I can t talk into this . . .
HOWARD (snapping the machine off). That was my wife. (1199)
There is, in fact, a third woman in Howard s life, maid. Howard says that if he can t be at home when
the Jack Benny program comes on, he uses the wire recorder. He tells the maid to turn the radio on
when Jack Benny comes on, and this automatically goes on with the radio.... (1199). In short, the
women in Howard s world exist to serve (and to worship) him.
Another woman who seems to have existed only to serve men is Willy Loman s mother. On one
occasion, in speaking with Ben, Willy remembers being on her lap, and Ben, on learning that his
mother is dead, utters a platitudinous description of her, Fine specimen of a lady, Mother (1183), but
that s as much as we learn of her. Willy is chiefly interested in learning about his father, who left the
family and went to Alaska. Ben characterizes the father as a very great and a very wild hearted man
(1185), but the fact that the father left his

Child Safety Plan
The safety plan developed by protective services for a very young child typically depends on the
nonoffending mother as the major source of emotional nurturance and assumes the mother s ability to
respond to child sexual abuse. However, nonoffending mothers may suffer significant levels of
distress themselves following disclosure of their children s abuse (Deblinger, Hathaway, Lippman,
Steer, 1993; Kelley, 1990). Safety plans may not routinely address the needs of the mother or her
psychological ability to follow through with the specified plan. The mother s psychological well being
presumably affects her ability to be sensitive and responsive to her child, which would affect her child
s recovery from abuse. Many studies have identified children s

Similarities Between Jesus And Levite
A virtuoso in law once inquired Jesus, what he shall do to inherit eternal life, and who are my
neighbors. Jesus replied by showing how a man walking from Jerusalem to Jericho, got assaulted by
thieves. Without his possessions and clothes, he laid there half dead. A minister going down a similar
street walked past the man and did not even try helping him, a Levite doing the same later. In the text
of The Parable of the Good Samaritan, it mentions, A priest happened to be going down the same road,
and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side (paragraph 6). This quote strongly proves
that no one cared for the man except one person, because the text stated how the priest and Levite both
were rude people who did not take pity or

Shakespeare s Conspiracy Theories
Sometimes there are holes in the understanding and knowledge we have of things. To help us
understand, we try and patch those holes with what are called conspiracy theories. William
Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with
conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses while
others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumbleupon William Shakespeare.
The different theories people have fabricated has caused a major controversy over the authorship of
William Shakespeare s famous plays.
With the few surviving documents we have, we can see small glimpses into the life of William
Shakspeare. All that we know about Shakespeare s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century.
The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of
Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to
support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir
Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included
Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also
described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the
works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford,
Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess
of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed
that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a
group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of
them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. An example of this is people have
made variants of the group theories

Medicinal Effects Of Mushrooms And Their Metabolites Essay
Mushrooms were known and consumed as food in ceremonies as far back as prehistoric times.
Throughout the history, mushrooms were used in different cultures for their medicinal and tonic
properties (Gunde Cimerman, 1999). The longest tradition of using edible mushrooms for medicinal
purposes is in China. Mushrooms represent a major and as yet largely untapped source of powerful
new pharmaceutical products. The most significant medicinal effect of mushrooms and their
metabolites that attracted the attention of the public in the recent years is their antitumour property.
Many pharmaceutical substances with potent and unique properties were isolated from mushrooms
and distributed worldwide. Many of them are not strictly pharmaceutical products but represent the
novel class of dietary supplements of approximately 10,000 known species of mushrooms, 2000 are
safe and 300 have significant pharmacological properties (Hobbs, 1995, Miles and Chang, 1997).
Mushrooms are nutritional functional food and as a source of physiologically beneficial and nontoxic
medicines. They have been reported to have significant pharmacological effects or physiological
properties such as bio regulation, maintenance of homeostasis, regulation of biorhythm, cure of
various diseases, and prevention and improvement of life threatening diseases such as cancer, cerebral
stroke and heart disease. They have been also demonstrated to have effective substances for
decreasing blood cholesterol, hypolipidemic,

The Witcher 3
Literature is a mutable thing. Many have sought, often in vain and to great dissatisfaction, to contain it
and define its true nature. What s more, it seems that with each generation this task becomes
increasing difficult as words find new mediums across which to be expressed and heard. Conventional
definitions of literature, in turn, seem to be of increasingly less use as the words multiply around us.
The most successful definitions, under these circumstances, are those which seek not to assess the
nature of literature, which is ever changing, but its function in human society, which has remained
relatively unchanged over the annals of time. I would assert that the function of literature, beyond the
pleasure its aesthetic beauty can inspire, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The world of The Witcher 3 is not wholly unlike our own. Women, particularly in marginalized
segments of society, struggle to assert their own worth and determine their own destinies in a world in
which men hold virtually all major positions of power. In The Witcher 3, this manifests itself in many
ways. One way is in the ubiquitous prostitutes of Novigrad, through whom the writers challenge
players to assess their own beliefs about sex work. Opportunities arise throughout the game to either
help affirm their humanity and defend them against male abuse and violence, or partake in their
services and leave them to their fates as objects of male desire. Given the ineptitude of many of their
world s male leaders, there are also many women from the upper segments of society who seek to
define not only their own fates, but those of their entire nation. Upon traveling to the Skellige Isles, an
archipelago off the western coast of the Northern Kingdoms, players find themselves interrupting a
funeral service for the recently deceased king, Bran. His widow, Birna, has plans for the island nation
even in her mourning. Traditionally, the next ruler would be chosen by the people based off of their
deeds and popularity. Regarding this tradition with disdain, Birna seeks instead to form Skellige into a
dynastic monarchy after that of the rival Nilfgaardian Empire with her son upon the throne. She is not
alone, however, in seeking to radically change her nation for the better. Cerys an Craite, the daughter
of a Skellige jarl, seeks to inherit the current political system and use it to reform and improve the
policies of her native land. Instead of continuing to raid the coastal lands at great loss of life, as ruler
she would seek to turn the island nation s attention inward to invest in its people and infrastructure. By
presenting women as the

Rhetoric And Rhetoric
There are various models of rhetoric that have been applied in speeches, especially in the political and
social world. For a long time, the world has been exposed to the persuasive model of rhetoric that has
dominated most of the speeches we have had. A different approach to rhetoric has however not
received the attention that it deserves. The rhetoric approach is called invitational model of rhetoric.
The invitational approach promises to bring more impressive and long term results as opposed to the
traditional model of rhetoric. This essay will examine and compare the traditional and the invitational
models of rhetoric.
Traditional Model of Rhetoric
The artifact identified for purposes of this assignment is titled I have a Dream made by Martin Luther
King in August 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The speech has been identified as a
perfect example of the traditional models of rhetoric that sought to persuade. To understand this
speech completely, it is crucial to understand the setting and the time during which it was made and
who made it. The speech was delivered during the height of the American Civil Rights Movement that
had taken over the whole country. The leader of this movement, civil rights activists Martin Luther
King made the speech in front of a packed crowd that cheered on his every sentence; they wanted to
send a message to the whole of America.
The speech is a good example of a traditional model of rhetoric because of several factors. Firstly,

Mikey Modilloy Ap Language Essay
1. Frank is prompted to say this when he reminisces on the masters of his school and his father s
words, of glorious death for Faith and Ireland.
2. Understandably, Frank admires Mikey Molloy because he knows everything [...] he has visions in
his fits and he reads books. Mikey Molloy is anything but a typical hero, his morals are off kilter, he
has disabilities, and he s not perfect in all around.
3. Mikey is his mother s world, her heart s blood, her pulse , he is her pride and joy. He has more
sense than twelve men drinking pints in the pub , knows all the names of the popes and saves the
family from pure starvation. He is her only solace in her world.

hungry famishing family. Sadly, these feelings are caused by her husband, Peter, who drinks away the
dole itself and any money he wins.

father, drink pints galore, stick the finger down the throat to bring it all up, drink more pints, win the
bets, and bring the money home to his mother to keep her from going demented. His father s actions
normalized and glamorized alcoholism. Mikey wants to be like his father.
7. Personally, I believe Malachy Sr. told Frank not to tell the priest about listening to Mikey s story to
put him at ease, because it was such a small and ultimately insignificant thing . Additionally, he tells
Frank it s not a sin, he doesn t want Frank to waste the priest s

Newton graduated from college with no honours or distinctions, but his efforts won him the title of
scholar and four years of financial support to be used for further education. Sadly, the Great Plague
came to Cambridge, forcing the university to close. Newton returned home to pursue a private study.
During this eighteen month period, Newton conceived the method of infinitesimal calculus, gained
substantial insight into the laws of planetary insight, and set foundations for his theory of light and
colour. These insights eventually led to Newton publishing Principia in 1687. Philosophiæ Naturalis
Principia Mathematica, simply referred to as Principia, is a work that consists of three books written in
Latin. It states Newton s law of motion, Newton s law of universal gravitation, forms the foundation
of classical mechanics, and a derivation of Kepler s laws of planetary motion. After corrections were
made to the first addition, Newton published another two editions in 1723 and 1726. Principia is
regarded as one of the most important works in the complete history of science. Newton developed
Calculus around the same time as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. This led to a dispute between these two
great minds. It is believed that Newton and Leibniz both developed calculus independently with very
different notions. Newton was reluctant to publish his calculus, because he feared that it would cause
criticism and

The Effects Of Stress Disorder On The World Of Chaos
Traumatic stress disorders are on the rise in our world of chaos. Most people will find themselves
being the victim of a traumatic incident at some point in their lives. For some, trauma is lived out
daily. If they do not experience a trauma, then the likelihood is great that they are connected in some
way to a victim of trauma. Acute stress disorder and post traumatic stress disorder have become a
topic of great interest to researchers. This text will define acute stress disorder also called ASD, and
how it might be an early indicator of post traumatic stress disorder. The text will also explain the
various symptoms of acute stress disorder, how it was recognized and the diagnostic guideline. This
text aims to address how the lives of individual who are impacted by trauma can be affected by ASD,
and also cover the different treatment approached used by professionals and spiritual leaders. The
scope and content in this paper aim to address how acute stress disorder affects an individual s life and
present the vital components of successful coping skills for individuals who experience trauma. The
text will also bring attention to the various approaches of treatment by professionals and spiritual
leaders.

The Textbook, Sociology
The textbook Sociology has tons of information at its publisher website, which includes a different
variety of resources that can help expand a student s understanding of the book and review concepts as
well. The website not only has information about the textbook, but has other types of reliable
information from outside sources to help understand sociology on a different level. The resources that
the website provided were useful, but the resources that I believe that will help me the most is the
glossary, the exams, and career opportunities. The glossary has a list of all of the important terms in
the textbook in alphabetical order and I can use this to see all the important terms that I will need to
know. The midterm and final exam on the website serve as a preparation that can help me review and
be readily prepared once the exams finally approaches. The last resource that I consider important is
the career opportunities because not only does it provide information on job search, it also includes
websites that offer internships. The website provided many helpful resources, but each chapter in the
textbook has their own resources that can help explain the chapter more thoroughly. Chapter three
Culture has plenty of resources that are beneficial to me and other students. In chapter three there is
plenty of information that can be useful to many students, but two particular resources that caught my

The Effects Of Technology On Human Health
Le Tran Professor: M. Scott Carter English1213 MC03F 9 December, 2015 Negative Effects of
Technology on Human Health In recent years, technology has been on a continuous rise. It has
become an integral part of the lives of countless individuals. From laptops to mobile phones, various
devices have their daily use in the daily affairs of people, whether the average citizen or famous
personalities. For the most part, technology has its benefits. Students now have easy and quick access
to multiple sources of information within the click of a button or the touch of a screen regardless of
location. Friends and family may now communicate across vast distances in real time. Also, people
may use their mobile devices to entertain themselves, especially in terms of watching videos on
demand and playing virtual games. There are many other examples. However, technology also has its
disadvantages. In sum, technology has the potential to cause negative effects on human health. Unless
properly addressed, many people are at risk of experiencing negative health consequences due to the
constant use of many technological devices today. For example, they can cause sleep deprivation or
people spent too much time for mobile instead of taking a rest. They can make limit posture while
using them. In addition, people can make nearly sight eyes, hurt in neck or back. The most important
thing is the radiation from the modern technology devices that we do not really know exactly what
disease it happen

As a Research Associate (and a former Research Fellow) at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public
Health (HSPH), my research has focused on i) the development of novel platforms to investigate
exposure to particulate matter (Coarse, Fine, and Ultrafine Particles) and gaseous pollutants and ii) to
understand the exposure risk, pathways, dose, and health effects. To attain these goals, I implemented
state of the art analytical techniques to characterize the exposures, developed novel in vitro assays to
investigate their biological effect, and pioneered methods to understand these interactions down to
molecular level. During that time, I also developed a green sustainable antimicrobial platform, the

educational and investigative component of my research, I aspire to enable regulatory agencies to
establish policies to control the usage of these materials in order to minimize the risk to the
environment and public health.

Identity Theory Of Social Class
Statement of the Problem Identity is a powerful force that shapes the way individuals interact with the
world (Burke Reitzes, 1981). As a result, scholars have devoted much time toward understanding how
identities such as gender, race, and sexual orientation influence the human condition (Farr, Forssell,
Patterson, 2010; Kerr Multon, 2015; Smith, Bowman, Hsu, 2007). However, among this growing body
of literature, the study of social class as an identity is relatively scarce (Ostrove Cole, 2003). Rather
than examining social class as an identity, many scholars have instead chosen to treat it as a
demographic variable (Aries, 2008; Aries Berman, 2013; Lubrano, 2004; Mantsios, 2007; Park
Denson, 2013). Perhaps this has occurred because social class is such an elusive concept to describe
(Lareau, 2008; Ostrove Cole, 2003). Although scholars generally agree that there are distinct
differences among the speech patterns, mannerisms, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identity theory is a theoretical framework that posits that individuals have many different identities
that intersect, such as social class, race, and gender (Burke Tully, 1977; Michalski Helmig, 2008;
Stryker, 1968; Stryker, 1987; Stryker, 2008). However, identity theory also acknowledges that these
varying identities tend to exist hierarchically (Stryker Burke, 2000). Therefore, identities that are more
central to a person s sense of self are more salient. That is, salient identities tend to be higher on a
person s salience hierarchy than other identities. For example, a person may identify as a heterosexual
woman, an African American, a Protestant, and a mother. However, if after considering all of these
identities, she were to indicate that her identity of being a mother was the most important to her sense
of self, and then researchers could infer that her mother identity would be set highest on her salience

How Did Amelia Earhart Gain Her Greatest Accomplishments
This article discusses how Amelia Earhart gained her greatest accomplishments. At 10 years old, she
notices an airplane flying high in the sky for the first time at the state fair, but wasn t seriously
interested in flying until she attended a stunt flying exhibition 10 years later. The moment that
changed her life forever was riding in an airplane alongside Pilot Frank Hawks on December 28,
1920. Earhart commented on that moment in her life saying, By the time I had got two or three
hundred feet off the ground, I knew I had to fly. Consequently, Amelia took her first flying lesson on
January 3, 1921, and bought her first plane, the Canary , six months later. She set many records such
as her first women s record of an altitude 14,000 feet using the Canary , the first woman to fly across
the Atlantic as a passenger, placing third place at the Cleveland Women s Air Derby, the first woman
and second person to fly solo across the Atlantic, an altitude record for autogyros of 18,415 feet, the
first person to fly solo across the Pacific, and the first to solo from Mexico City to Newark. However,
Amelia Earhart is mostly known for her attempt to fly across the world, as well as, her disappearance.

Proteins Are Colonic Epithelial Receptors For C. Difficile...
Finally, a paper published in September 2016 reveals that frizzled proteins are colonic epithelial
receptors for C. difficile toxin B [22]. As they are introducing their studies of identifying potential
TcdB receptors, they highlight some downfalls in previous studies, such as the fact that whilst CSPG4
was showed as an interacting receptor with Toxin B in HeLa and HT29 cells [17], CSPG4 is not
actually present in the colonic epithelium [23]. Also, they comment on the fact that PVRL3 was
shown only to be associated with TcdB cytotoxicity and not proof of PVRL3 acting as a receptor itself
[13], however, there was evidence of PVRL3 interaction with TcdB, as discussed above [14]. This
study used a genome wide screen via CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis and identification of TcdB resistant
mutants, which identified the Wnt receptor frizzled family (FZDs) as TcdB receptors [22]. This mutant
screening with native TcdB also confirmed CSPG4 as TcdB receptor and further studies showed it is
CROP dependent [17, 22]. The highest ranking mutant of plasma membranes when screened with the
truncated TcdB1 1830 was FZD2, a member of the Wnt receptor frizzled family (FZDs) [22]. In
healthy cells, the Wnt signaling, in which FZD proteins contribute to, are critical signal pathways
involved in proliferation and self renewal function of colonic epithelial cells [24, 25]. TcdB competes
for Wnt to bind to these regions, inhibiting Wnt signaling, which in turn affects the health of colonic
cells [22]. It

Rise Of Fascism

Fascism is a type of extremist, right wing, totalitarian and nationalist ideology which first emerged
during the beginning of the 20th century in Europe. The growth of fascism in Europe after the end of
the First World War was caused by a combination of the socio economic and political conditions
which enabled Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler to come to power over the period prior to the
Second World War. Indeed, Blinkhorn comments that European fascism is, and always will be,
inextricably associated with the years between the end of the First World War and the end of the
Second (Blinkhorn 7). These conditions saw the development of nationalist ideologies and the
emergence of the fascist party in Italy and the National Socialist Party in Germany.
The main features of fascism as implemented by Mussolini and Hitler were based on nationalist,
expansionist foreign policies in combination with domestic policies which boosted the economy and
raised living standards. Indeed, Gentile comments that fascism in both Italy and Germany wanted to

How Did Mtv Influence Music In The 80s
One of the most important events to influence music in the 80s was the creation of MTV (Music
Television). MTV was the first station to exclusively play music videos, hitting the airwaves on
August 1st, 1981. The first music video to be played on the channel was the Buggles Video Killed the
Radio Star, as music is constantly changing the focus would shift from music to fashion and famous
people doing idiotic things. The original idea was for the station was to play music videos twenty four
hours a day, every day. This has obviously changed since then, but the innovative concept created a
whole new kind of pop star.
Pop music changed throughout the 80s and thaks to MTV there was a massive shift in interest to not
only the music the artist was producing but also to the imag eof the artist themselves. Because of this
super stars emerged and became mascots for pop music. Some of these superstars were Michael
Jackson, Madona, Whitney Houston. These superstars were experiencing a level of fame that had not
been seen since The Beatles and Elvis Presley.

One of the reasons Hip Hop found it hard to break into the mainstream was that MTV did not want to
show music videos of black artists. After public outcry the station played musicians like Michael
Jackson and he paved the way for more black musicians as his music videos were among the most
popular. Hip Hop sounded like nothing that had been heard in the mainstream before, and the 80s are
commonly thought of as the golden age of Hip Hop where all music produced seemed to be original
creative and innovative. At the end of the 80s MTV was airing the show YO! MTV Raps making Hip
Hop and Rap a global phenominon. prolific Hip Hop acts like Run DMC and LL COOL J became
style icons. The beatie boys decided to make thier music white friendly and added rock music

The Enormous Growth During the Renaissance
The term Renaissance in general refers to Rebirth or Reconstruction . To be exact, the meaning came
from all the changes experienced and inventive ideas that influence during the European history. The
Renaissance occurred between the 14th and 17th century when there was revival in both learning and
culture in Europe. It began in Florence, Italy and traveled throughout other city states in Italy. It
mainly occurred in Italy due to the history of Rome and Roman Empire. The Renaissance was a
cultural movement that swept through Europe because of a diversion in significant understanding.
Italy was so wealthy that people were willing to spend their money to encourage the artists. With that
being said, the Renaissance was a time in which society experienced an enormous growth. This
development was not only financial, but also in the cultural areas. Artists and Bookman were perusing
the teachings and artwork of ancient Greece and Rome. It was a tremendous strike in many fields in
particular to art, literature, education, political science, and history of the future generation.
The Rebirth changes in the style of art and also the perspective of artists. Political changes in the
ruling class of Italy shortly before the period had led to the rulers of the major city states being new
men without much of a political history. They try to regulate themselves with noticeable display,
spectacle, including all forms of art and creativity. The artists keen to use their new

Public Participation and Internet Regulation
Public participation, a process involving citizen or stakeholder engagement in decision making, has
gained increasing emphasis in recent years. Interestingly, the emergence of the concepts of e
governance , e government and e democracy reflects the increasing connection of online tools such as
the Internet with the concept of public participation (Freeman, 2013). Does governmental regulation
of the Internet necessarily not promote public participation then? I think not; to my mind, there are
two different kinds of regulation positive and negative regulation, implemented with the purpose of
promoting and restricting participation respectively. Whether these regulations indeed do promote or
restrict effective public participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the impact of positive regulation does seemingly achieve its purpose of increasing citizen
participation and interaction in political affairs, it does not necessarily result in better policy making
by the government. The impact of public participation is highly context dependent. It varies with
certain factors including the purpose of the deliberation, the subject under discussion and the
participants etc. (Carpini, 2004). A recent study (West, 2004) for example, showed that public
comments filed in rulemaking proceedings contributed little new information which influenced the
decision making process whereas another study (Coleman, 2004) revealed that the responses were of
very high quality and the hypothesis that most online discussion is uninformed and of poor quality is
not supported in the latter study. Therefore, while rulemaking by the government may be rendered
more legitimate and accountable, the quality of the policies made may not necessarily improve as a
result of positive internet regulation and greater public participation.
Governmental decisions made with the help of public participation may impact businesses. For
example, public participation encouraged by FDA s Center for Tobacco Products played a vital role in
the formulation of policies for the regulation of sale and distribution of tobacco products by tobacco
companies. Therefore

Age of Reform in America
American reform movements in the early to mid 1800 #8217;s strived at improving our developing
society. America was growing larger, and with the expanding population, many new ideas sprang up.
Conflicting opinions between the people of the United States caused the emergence of an Age of
Reform, where people tried to change things such as the educational system and women #8217;s
rights. These movements were the result of our nation #8217;s self determination and interest in
improving the society we live in. Between the 1820 #8217;s and 1860 #8217;s, Americans were trying
new things and promoting different ideas and ways of thinking. Once such idea is that of a utopian

Headed with the slogan, #8220;all men are created equal, #8221; a movement was launched for
woman suffrage. On July 19, 1848, a convention was called in Seneca Falls. It was a retelling of the
Declaration of Independence, and stated that all men and women are created equal. It was not until the
1920 #8217;s that women were finally given the right to vote. Women were beginning to become
more scholarly, and many bold steps were made by women, such as keeping maiden names or getting
higher jobs. The women #8217;s rights movement demonstrates that steps were taken in order to
improve the quality of life for women. Religions are founded on the principle of education of others as
well as education of one #8217;s self, yet before the 1800 #8217;s America was a largely uneducated
country. Few if any philosophers existed, and adept teachers were rare. The 1800 #8217;s brought an
education revolution upon America, due mainly to the new ideas and concepts being envisioned at the
time. Education was becoming a top priority and the Age of Reforms brought an educational system to
America. During this period, the most influential person dealing with educational reform was Horace
Mann. Horace Mann believed that #8220;education was the only way to #8216;counterwork this
tendency to the domination of capital and the servility of labor #8217; #8221; (Brinkley

Mary Rowlandson s Captivity Narrative Essay
The Puritans played a large role in early American history and society. Most Puritans escaped the
tyrannical rule in England to gain religious freedom in America, which helped create an early
American society. Not only did the Puritans help form the early American society and religion, they
also contributed to the earliest stories and narratives to help create a rich literary history for America.
Puritan literature has helped many scholars and readers learn about early American history. One of the
most famous American narratives is from Mary Rowlandson, who was the wife of a Puritan Minister.
Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative is about her story of how she was captured and treated by
Native American captors. Throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passage also shows that God, according to the Puritans, is a very strict God. He does not tolerate
evil acts, and requires that His followers obey His will, or they will be cut off from his presence and
blessings. God is so intolerant of sin and evil, that Mary accepted that it was ok for God to take way
her children and her lifestyle. On the other hand, God, according to the Puritans, is also merciful to
His own people. At the end of the phrase, Mary stated that God showed mercy to her by helping her
through her afflictions. Also, Mary again stated how merciful her God was in her following statement,
Now hath God fulfilled that precious Scripture which was such a comfort to me in my distressed
condition (Derounian 12 51). According to Mary, God is strict, demands righteousness among his
followers, but is also merciful towards His own people. These different principles line up with the
Puritan doctrine of the time as well.
Since God was not tolerant of sinners and evil acts, Mary recounted many different acts that were
considered evil or barbaric that the Native Americans did. For example, when the Native Americans
attacked Mary s town, she described the aftermath as, a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying
in their blood, some here and some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, (Derounian 12 51).

during the 1960s, which is clearly seen by Ken Kesey s urgings to use LSD to transcend reality and

highlight the desire to escape, which is clearly seen in many of the Merry Pranksters, especially
Mountain Girl, who escapes a mundane life in New York to join Kesey and the psychedelic

people about the good and bad sides of the 1960s psychedelic movement, which is clearly seen by

Enron Oxley Act ( Sox )
Executive Summary
Over the last two decades the consulting practices within the Big Four accounting firms saw a variety
of changes take place. This began when the accounting world was faced with multiple scandals around
the turn of the century, which prompted the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). SOX mandated that public
accounting firms could no longer provide both audit and consulting services to the same client. This
forced the firms to brainstorm new ways to comply with the laws and standards, and overtime they
created innovative ways to adhere to regulations. We examine the issues leading up to the new
regulations, the Big Four firms reactions to the new regulations, and how consulting rebounded after
SOX. We also analyzed what the consulting line of service at the Big Four will look like in the future
and discuss why the Big Four firms want to preserve a presence in the consulting business. Overall,
our research suggests that the consulting sector is lucrative, and the firms need revenues from non
audit clients in order to continue to grow their business.
Management Consulting s Fall to SOX
The management consulting industry first gained popularity in the 1930s with the demand for advice
on finance, strategy, and organizational design because of various government interventions. After
World War 2, the development of globalization contributed to the boom in consulting industry.(O
Mahoney, 2010) Also, the increasing demand for strategy and information technology

Comparable figures were not available for triplets, but the risk and stresses for triplet births are much
higher than for twins (6). Because multiple pregnancies put more stress on the mother as well as the
fetus, this increases the chances that the babies will be born premature as well as with cerebral palsy.
There is an increased frequency of fetal distress among cases of cerebral palsy and death, representing
the increased antennal risk factors in the pregnancy (2). Multiple pregnancies are becoming much
more popular and common due to advances in fertilization enhancing techniques. Higher numbers of
babies are being born, producing higher numbers of premature infants. The numbers of multiple births
surviving the prenatal period is increasing with the increasing survival of very tiny babies (1).
Through the use of fertility drugs, multiple births are producing more premature babies, which in
effect, increases an infant s chance of having cerebral palsy. When an infant is born prematurely, the
chances of it having cerebral palsy are much higher than that of a baby carried to term. There is an
increasing prevalence of cerebral palsy in preterm infants (3). When an infant is prematurely born,

The Death Of A Costumed Adventurer
The death of a costumed adventurer often leads audiences to contemplate the significance of it. It is a
prevalent issue in which these characters appear to sacrifice their lives for the possibility of a greater
good. In Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen, masked hero are subjected towards death due to
their actions and the actions of others. Whether it is the actions of a friend, stranger, or foe, the
untimely deaths of Rorschach, Nite Owl I, and The Comedian proves a costumed adventurer s death
leads to the loss of humanity. Walter Joseph Kovacs, or more commonly known as Rorschach, is a
costumed vigilante whose death plays a significant role in Watchmen. Rorschach is depicted as a
disturbed man who believes there is always a right and wrong, even if it means breaking the law to
bring a higher justice in the world. His belief deems prevalent by defying the Keene Act of 1977,
which outlawed any type of vigilantism by costumed adventurers, except for those who worked
exclusively under the United States government like Dr. Manhattan and The Comedian. By breaking
down the components of Rorschach s mask, there will be a deeper understanding of what the
mysterious Rorschach represents in Watchmen. Rorschach s viewpoint of the world is often
interpreted through his mask, which is black and white... [and is constantly] changing shape...but not

Breastfeeding Is A Controversial Topic Over The Years
The practice of breastfeeding has become a very controversial topic over the years due to the creation
of alternatives to breast milk, increase in working mothers, and other reasons. Much research shows
that due to a variety of cultural, ethical, and economic reasons women should be encouraged to
breastfeed for a specific duration of time, while others believe that this is unnecessary. Based on these
three societal sectors, should women be encouraged to breastfeed? If so, for how long should they
breastfeed? Since the beginning of humans/ mankind breastfeeding has been practiced by mothers.
Stevens and colleagues (2009) tell us the following information (pp. 32 39): Since the beginning of
humans life on Earth, there have always been a number of alternatives used to provide nutrients to
infants. For example, in 2000 BC women fed animal milk to their children. More recently, in the 18th
century many women were encouraged to stay home, breastfeed, and care for their children and
husband (Stevens et al., 2009, 33). Some areas of the world even believed that breast milk provided
the child with wisdom. Then in the 19th century, it was a common idea that women were only
equipped to breastfeed if she had a good diet, exercised, and was mentally fit, but breastfeeding was
highly encouraged. However, European women during this time had wet nurses, or other women that
would breastfeed the child that wasn t biologically theirs (p. 35). People soon began to realize that this

  • 2. Human Wildlife Conflicts in Kenya CHAPTER ONE 1.1 Introduction This chapter comprises of the background, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, the scope of the study and the conceptual framework. 1.2 Background to the problem Every 10 years, the IUCN World Parks Congress (WPC) brings together conservation experts from around the world to share information and ideas, and set a global policy agenda for protected areas. The 5th IUCN World Parks Congress was held in Durban, South Africa from September 8 17, 2004, and was attended by approximately 3,000 protected area experts, practitioners, and decision makers. The 5th WPC brought human wildlife conflict (HWC) to the global stage as part of an effort to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... WCS has been implementing conservation activities in wildlife region for decades, with significant wildlife conservation programs in: Indonesia (since1990), Malaysia (since 1984), Papua New Guinea (since 1977) and Fiji (since 2000). WCS works at multiple scales to: i. Conserve living seascapes and viable populations of species ii. Advance knowledge, through collection and analysis of ecological and social science data, to inform conservation action iii. Build capacity, establish strong partnerships, and support stakeholder engagement iv. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation efforts for long term success v Address emerging global challenges through innovative solutions to challenges posed by climate change, extraction of natural resources, the need to sustain human livelihoods, and contain the spread of diseases and other threats to wildlife and human health In Southwest Cambodia, the Cambodian government established a team of 45 rangers to patrol critical biodiversity areas in the central Cardamom Mountains. This was started in March 2001 and the team worked together with the International Conservation team. The ranger teams protect the area s key wildlife species, including the Asian elephant, tiger, Asiatic black bear, and pileated gibbon. • 3. Analysis Of Ram Charan s New York Times Bestseller,... Strategic implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to accomplish strategic objectives and goals. It should be considered the blueprint for realizing the organization s vision. The success of any strategy is solely dependent upon the effectiveness of its implementation and execution. Ram Charan s New York Times bestseller, Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done, refers to implementation and execution of strategy as a systematic way of exposing reality and acting on it. The framework for successful implementation includes building an organization capable of executing strategy, proper resource allocation, support policies, continuous improvement, performance based incentives, and strategic leadership. KaBloom founder, David Hartstein, provided a sound strategy to realize his vision, however flaws in various elements of implementation led to continued problems for KaBloom. Executing the Vision As we learned in Section 3: Strategy Formulation, KaBloom sought to employ a differentiation strategy in effort to create a competitive edge. They created brand recognition and a niche within the market through visual differentiation, low cost, and product variety. Eye catching stores, strategically located in high traffic areas, drew customers into the serene garden like atmosphere with flowers cascading onto the storefront sidewalk. Their brand recognition was created through this concept of store design, which differed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Christine Wilkie Stibb Christine Wilkie Stibb s The Outside Child In And Out Of The Book examines the construction of the child subject within a text, and contextualizes that construction by connecting to historical, social and political events outside the text. She does this by taking real world (ie: historical, social and political) instances and connecting them to each book. Each chapter focuses on a different construction of the child outsider: outsider (the child as subject and the creation of subjectivity); displaced (refugees and asylum seekers); erased (subjecting the child s body to public gaze and erasure of his or her identity); abject (those expelled from the hierarchies); unattached (loss of parents and idea of home, moving from one place to another, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This chapter explores the stories of immigrants and refugees, or other asylum seekers. She explains they are works of literature, not case histories, but they do more than exploit for the purposes of entertainment the sorts of distressful situations in which some real children find themselves. Literature at its best is what most convinces us of the realities of other people s identities and selfhoods, so that these novels, responsibly written and attempting authenticity, act as powerful and memorable case histories which are as true as, or truer than, factually accurate ones. (26) Upon looking at the UNCRC mentioned above Wilkie Stibbs examines the westernized and industrialized construction of the child and childhood that anyone under eighteen is a child, and they shall be protected (24). However, in historical documents references, including the French Revolution s 1795 Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, and bringing up the idea of child labor and child soldiers, each nation has its own conception of what it is to be a child. Portrayal of Women in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Although Death of a Salesman is mainly about a salesman named Willy Loman, the almost hidden presence of the women in the novel goes all too often unnoticed. Linda Loman seems to be the glue that holds the Loman clan together, as Willy, Biff, and Happy are all deluded in one way or another. Arthur Miller depicts Willy s wife in a very specific way, and this is a very crucial part of the story. He depicts the other women in the story in ways that complement Linda s distinct nature. Although Linda s role as a woman in society is extremely limited, she is a heroic character, both wife and mother to some very sad and twisted characters. Linda is technically the female ... Another woman who seems to have existed only to serve men is Willy Loman s mother. On one occasion, in speaking with Ben, Willy remembers being on her lap, and Ben, on learning that his mother is dead, utters a platitudinous description of her, Fine specimen of a lady, Mother (1183), but that s as much as we learn of her. • 6. Child Safety Plan The safety plan developed by protective services for a very young child typically depends on the nonoffending mother as the major source of emotional nurturance and assumes the mother s ability to respond to child sexual abuse. However, nonoffending mothers may suffer significant levels of distress themselves following disclosure of their children s abuse (Deblinger, Hathaway, Lippman, Steer, 1993; Kelley, 1990). Safety plans may not routinely address the needs of the mother or her psychological ability to follow through with the specified plan. The mother s psychological well being presumably affects her ability to be sensitive and responsive to her child, which would affect her child s recovery from abuse. • 7. Similarities Between Jesus And Levite A virtuoso in law once inquired Jesus, what he shall do to inherit eternal life, and who are my neighbors. Jesus replied by showing how a man walking from Jerusalem to Jericho, got assaulted by thieves. Without his possessions and clothes, he laid there half dead. A minister going down a similar street walked past the man and did not even try helping him, a Levite doing the same later. In the text of The Parable of the Good Samaritan, it mentions, A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side (paragraph 6). This quote strongly proves that no one cared for the man except one person, because the text stated how the priest and Levite both were rude people who did not take pity or ... Some are made with educated guesses while others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumbleupon William Shakespeare. Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century. The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. • 9. Medicinal Effects Of Mushrooms And Their Metabolites Essay Mushrooms were known and consumed as food in ceremonies as far back as prehistoric times. Throughout the history, mushrooms were used in different cultures for their medicinal and tonic properties (Gunde Cimerman, 1999). The longest tradition of using edible mushrooms for medicinal purposes is in China. Mushrooms represent a major and as yet largely untapped source of powerful new pharmaceutical products. The most significant medicinal effect of mushrooms and their metabolites that attracted the attention of the public in the recent years is their antitumour property. Many pharmaceutical substances with potent and unique properties were isolated from mushrooms and distributed worldwide. Many of them are not strictly pharmaceutical products but represent the novel class of dietary supplements of approximately 10,000 known species of mushrooms, 2000 are safe and 300 have significant pharmacological properties (Hobbs, 1995, Miles and Chang, 1997). Mushrooms are nutritional functional food and as a source of physiologically beneficial and nontoxic medicines. They have been reported to have significant pharmacological effects or physiological properties such as bio regulation, maintenance of homeostasis, regulation of biorhythm, cure of various diseases, and prevention and improvement of life threatening diseases such as cancer, cerebral stroke and heart disease. • 10. The Witcher 3 Literature is a mutable thing. Many have sought, often in vain and to great dissatisfaction, to contain it and define its true nature. What s more, it seems that with each generation this task becomes increasing difficult as words find new mediums across which to be expressed and heard. Conventional definitions of literature, in turn, seem to be of increasingly less use as the words multiply around us. The most successful definitions, under these circumstances, are those which seek not to assess the nature of literature, which is ever changing, but its function in human society, which has remained relatively unchanged over the annals of time. I would assert that the function of literature, beyond the pleasure its aesthetic beauty can inspire, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The world of The Witcher 3 is not wholly unlike our own. Women, particularly in marginalized segments of society, struggle to assert their own worth and determine their own destinies in a world in which men hold virtually all major positions of power. In The Witcher 3, this manifests itself in many ways. One way is in the ubiquitous prostitutes of Novigrad, through whom the writers challenge players to assess their own beliefs about sex work. Opportunities arise throughout the game to either help affirm their humanity and defend them against male abuse and violence, or partake in their services and leave them to their fates as objects of male desire. Given the ineptitude of many of their world s male leaders, there are also many women from the upper segments of society who seek to define not only their own fates, but those of their entire nation. Upon traveling to the Skellige Isles, an archipelago off the western coast of the Northern Kingdoms, players find themselves interrupting a funeral service for the recently deceased king, Bran. His widow, Birna, has plans for the island nation even in her mourning. Traditionally, the next ruler would be chosen by the people based off of their deeds and popularity. Regarding this tradition with disdain, Birna seeks instead to form Skellige into a dynastic monarchy after that of the rival Nilfgaardian Empire with her son upon the throne. She is not alone, however, in seeking to radically change her nation for the better. Cerys an Craite, the daughter of a Skellige jarl, seeks to inherit the current political system and use it to reform and improve the policies of her native land. Instead of continuing to raid the coastal lands at great loss of life, as ruler she would seek to turn the island nation s attention inward to invest in its people and infrastructure. • 11. Rhetoric And Rhetoric There are various models of rhetoric that have been applied in speeches, especially in the political and social world. For a long time, the world has been exposed to the persuasive model of rhetoric that has dominated most of the speeches we have had. A different approach to rhetoric has however not received the attention that it deserves. The rhetoric approach is called invitational model of rhetoric. The invitational approach promises to bring more impressive and long term results as opposed to the traditional model of rhetoric. This essay will examine and compare the traditional and the invitational models of rhetoric. Traditional Model of Rhetoric The artifact identified for purposes of this assignment is titled I have a Dream made by Martin Luther King in August 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The speech has been identified as a perfect example of the traditional models of rhetoric that sought to persuade. To understand this speech completely, it is crucial to understand the setting and the time during which it was made and who made it. The speech was delivered during the height of the American Civil Rights Movement that had taken over the whole country. The leader of this movement, civil rights activists Martin Luther King made the speech in front of a packed crowd that cheered on his every sentence; they wanted to send a message to the whole of America. The speech is a good example of a traditional model of rhetoric because of several factors. Firstly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Newton graduated from college with no honours or distinctions, but his efforts won him the title of scholar and four years of financial support to be used for further education. Sadly, the Great Plague came to Cambridge, forcing the university to close. Newton returned home to pursue a private study. During this eighteen month period, Newton conceived the method of infinitesimal calculus, gained substantial insight into the laws of planetary insight, and set foundations for his theory of light and colour. These insights eventually led to Newton publishing Principia in 1687. Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, simply referred to as Principia, is a work that consists of three books written in Latin. It states Newton s law of motion, Newton s law of universal gravitation, forms the foundation of classical mechanics, and a derivation of Kepler s laws of planetary motion. After corrections were made to the first addition, Newton published another two editions in 1723 and 1726. Principia is regarded as one of the most important works in the complete history of science. Newton developed Calculus around the same time as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. This led to a dispute between these two great minds. • 16. The Effects Of Technology On Human Health Le Tran Professor: M. Scott Carter English1213 MC03F 9 December, 2015 Negative Effects of Technology on Human Health In recent years, technology has been on a continuous rise. It has become an integral part of the lives of countless individuals. From laptops to mobile phones, various devices have their daily use in the daily affairs of people, whether the average citizen or famous personalities. For the most part, technology has its benefits. Students now have easy and quick access to multiple sources of information within the click of a button or the touch of a screen regardless of location. Friends and family may now communicate across vast distances in real time. Also, people may use their mobile devices to entertain themselves, especially in terms of watching videos on demand and playing virtual games. There are many other examples. However, technology also has its disadvantages. In sum, technology has the potential to cause negative effects on human health. Unless properly addressed, many people are at risk of experiencing negative health consequences due to the constant use of many technological devices today. For example, they can cause sleep deprivation or people spent too much time for mobile instead of taking a rest. They can make limit posture while using them. In addition, people can make nearly sight eyes, hurt in neck or back. The most important thing is the radiation from the modern technology devices that we do not really know exactly what disease it happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Identity Theory Of Social Class Statement of the Problem Identity is a powerful force that shapes the way individuals interact with the world (Burke Reitzes, 1981). As a result, scholars have devoted much time toward understanding how identities such as gender, race, and sexual orientation influence the human condition (Farr, Forssell, Patterson, 2010; Kerr Multon, 2015; Smith, Bowman, Hsu, 2007). However, among this growing body of literature, the study of social class as an identity is relatively scarce (Ostrove Cole, 2003). Rather than examining social class as an identity, many scholars have instead chosen to treat it as a demographic variable (Aries, 2008; Aries Berman, 2013; Lubrano, 2004; Mantsios, 2007; Park Denson, 2013). Perhaps this has occurred because social class is such an elusive concept to describe (Lareau, 2008; Ostrove Cole, 2003). Identity theory is a theoretical framework that posits that individuals have many different identities that intersect, such as social class, race, and gender (Burke Tully, 1977; Michalski Helmig, 2008; Stryker, 1968; Stryker, 1987; Stryker, 2008). However, identity theory also acknowledges that these varying identities tend to exist hierarchically (Stryker Burke, 2000). Therefore, identities that are more central to a person s sense of self are more salient. That is, salient identities tend to be higher on a person s salience hierarchy than other identities. For example, a person may identify as a heterosexual woman, an African American, a Protestant, and a mother. However, if after considering all of these identities, she were to indicate that her identity of being a mother was the most important to her sense of self, and then researchers could infer that her mother identity would be set highest on her salience ... At 10 years old, she notices an airplane flying high in the sky for the first time at the state fair, but wasn t seriously interested in flying until she attended a stunt flying exhibition 10 years later. The moment that changed her life forever was riding in an airplane alongside Pilot Frank Hawks on December 28, 1920. Earhart commented on that moment in her life saying, By the time I had got two or three hundred feet off the ground, I knew I had to fly. Consequently, Amelia took her first flying lesson on January 3, 1921, and bought her first plane, the Canary , six months later. She set many records such as her first women s record of an altitude 14,000 feet using the Canary , the first woman to fly across the Atlantic as a passenger, placing third place at the Cleveland Women s Air Derby, the first woman and second person to fly solo across the Atlantic, an altitude record for autogyros of 18,415 feet, the first person to fly solo across the Pacific, and the first to solo from Mexico City to Newark. However, Amelia Earhart is mostly known for her attempt to fly across the world, as well as, her disappearance. • 20. Proteins Are Colonic Epithelial Receptors For C. Difficile... Finally, a paper published in September 2016 reveals that frizzled proteins are colonic epithelial receptors for C. difficile toxin B [22]. As they are introducing their studies of identifying potential TcdB receptors, they highlight some downfalls in previous studies, such as the fact that whilst CSPG4 was showed as an interacting receptor with Toxin B in HeLa and HT29 cells [17], CSPG4 is not actually present in the colonic epithelium [23]. Also, they comment on the fact that PVRL3 was shown only to be associated with TcdB cytotoxicity and not proof of PVRL3 acting as a receptor itself [13], however, there was evidence of PVRL3 interaction with TcdB, as discussed above [14]. This study used a genome wide screen via CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis and identification of TcdB resistant mutants, which identified the Wnt receptor frizzled family (FZDs) as TcdB receptors [22]. This mutant screening with native TcdB also confirmed CSPG4 as TcdB receptor and further studies showed it is CROP dependent [17, 22]. The highest ranking mutant of plasma membranes when screened with the truncated TcdB1 1830 was FZD2, a member of the Wnt receptor frizzled family (FZDs) [22]. In healthy cells, the Wnt signaling, in which FZD proteins contribute to, are critical signal pathways involved in proliferation and self renewal function of colonic epithelial cells [24, 25]. TcdB competes for Wnt to bind to these regions, inhibiting Wnt signaling, which in turn affects the health of colonic cells [22]. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rise Of Fascism Student Professor Course Date Fascism is a type of extremist, right wing, totalitarian and nationalist ideology which first emerged during the beginning of the 20th century in Europe. The growth of fascism in Europe after the end of the First World War was caused by a combination of the socio economic and political conditions which enabled Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler to come to power over the period prior to the Second World War. Indeed, Blinkhorn comments that European fascism is, and always will be, inextricably associated with the years between the end of the First World War and the end of the Second (Blinkhorn 7). These conditions saw the development of nationalist ideologies and the emergence of the fascist party in Italy and the National Socialist Party in Germany. The main features of fascism as implemented by Mussolini and Hitler were based on nationalist, expansionist foreign policies in combination with domestic policies which boosted the economy and raised living standards. To be exact, the meaning came from all the changes experienced and inventive ideas that influence during the European history. The Renaissance occurred between the 14th and 17th century when there was revival in both learning and culture in Europe. It began in Florence, Italy and traveled throughout other city states in Italy. It mainly occurred in Italy due to the history of Rome and Roman Empire. The Renaissance was a cultural movement that swept through Europe because of a diversion in significant understanding. Italy was so wealthy that people were willing to spend their money to encourage the artists. With that being said, the Renaissance was a time in which society experienced an enormous growth. This development was not only financial, but also in the cultural areas. Artists and Bookman were perusing the teachings and artwork of ancient Greece and Rome. Interestingly, the emergence of the concepts of e governance , e government and e democracy reflects the increasing connection of online tools such as the Internet with the concept of public participation (Freeman, 2013). Whether these regulations indeed do promote or restrict effective public participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the impact of positive regulation does seemingly achieve its purpose of increasing citizen participation and interaction in political affairs, it does not necessarily result in better policy making by the government. The impact of public participation is highly context dependent. It varies with certain factors including the purpose of the deliberation, the subject under discussion and the participants etc. (Carpini, 2004). A recent study (West, 2004) for example, showed that public comments filed in rulemaking proceedings contributed little new information which influenced the decision making process whereas another study (Coleman, 2004) revealed that the responses were of very high quality and the hypothesis that most online discussion is uninformed and of poor quality is not supported in the latter study. Therefore, while rulemaking by the government may be rendered more legitimate and accountable, the quality of the policies made may not necessarily improve as a result of positive internet regulation and greater public participation. Governmental decisions made with the help of public participation may impact businesses. For example, public participation encouraged by FDA s Center for Tobacco Products played a vital role in the formulation of policies for the regulation of sale and distribution of tobacco products by tobacco companies. This began when the accounting world was faced with multiple scandals around the turn of the century, which prompted the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). SOX mandated that public accounting firms could no longer provide both audit and consulting services to the same client. This forced the firms to brainstorm new ways to comply with the laws and standards, and overtime they created innovative ways to adhere to regulations. We examine the issues leading up to the new regulations, the Big Four firms reactions to the new regulations, and how consulting rebounded after SOX. We also analyzed what the consulting line of service at the Big Four will look like in the future and discuss why the Big Four firms want to preserve a presence in the consulting business. Based on these three societal sectors, should women be encouraged to breastfeed? If so, for how long should they breastfeed?
