Guernica Goya s Third Of May Meaning
Guernica was created by Pablo Picasso in 1937. The Spainsh Civil war is the cause of making
Guernica. The Basque Country village in northern Spain is were the bombing took place, government
warplanes is how the German and Italy destroyed the area. The German bombers were supposedly
affiliated with National forces and General Franco during the war. Pablo Picasso s painting Guernica
uniquely executed showing innocent people suffering during the bombing. His piece became so
popular, that it became a major antiwar symbol. Guernica became very popular which helped tell the
story of the bombing, while being on a world tour. The one of a kind painting was painted in Paris,
which was displayed in the Museum of Modern Art. One of the most important ... Show more content

The background of the paintings and some visual elements are the same when it comes to the meaning
of the painting. To a non art student the visual at first glance is very important to set the tone of the
paintings. This helps the viewer understand the groundwork of the subject matter. Picasso s Guernica
is very representational but I can also see so abstract aspects in a weird way. Goya s Third of May is
naturalistic and representational but unlike Guernica we can clearly see the people who are in charge
causing the struggle. In both paintings the value of the light plays important role in the paintings.
Picasso uses shades of black and white to show all the different aspects and the painting. Goya uses
the value of the light to direct our attention to the main events in the painting. The lines in Guernica is
more curvy, where as Goya s third of May has more straight lines which effects the flow of the
painting. In both of the paintings the background of the paintings are very similar. People, places,
animals and things are being destroyed because of ruling issues. In Goya s painting to can see
hopelessness and suffering on the man s face while begging for his life. Both of the paintings we can
feel the senseless violence that was depicted. The violence that took place was recorded and reported
in the paintings, both of the artist wanted to make us aware of the violence that took place in their

Xbox vs. PlayStation The Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are the most popular gaming systems in
today s market. Sony and Microsoft try everything to meet the needs of the consumer and get people
to buy their product. In doing so they design them to meet today s society while also staying fairly
similar with the previous models. Since the hardware is very similar, the accessories and add ons play
a huge role in determining if the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 is superior. The Xbox one is a sleek and
very nice looking console designed to impress the buyer with its shiny gloss black finish and touch

They are much more reactive and have a lot better processors. The consoles are well equipped with

an inward curve unlike the previous outward curve on the PS3, and the thumb sticks have a concave

compatible with hdmi for more vivid picture and shapes. They are both excellent gaming consoles but
are so complex that they have many differences. The biggest advantage of a PlayStation is that it can
play Blu ray movies, it has a 500GB hard drive, and it is $400, which is $100 cheaper than the Xbox
(Best Buy). The Xbox one also has the features of Blu ray and a 500GB hard drive, however it cannot

Running Head: Calgary Urban Sustainable Development
Introduction
The concept of urban sustainable development emerged in the twentieth century. Development is
defined as the way of bringing change in communities by promoting economic growth and
development, changing infrastructure and utilizing technology to create stronger and advanced
communities. However, this development can have negative impact on society and may lead to
exploitation of natural resources, deforestation, outdoor pollution, gender inequalities and social
injustice (Bartelmus, 2011). Therefore, the concept of sustainable development has emerged as a new
paradigm of development, which concentrates on protecting the environment and preserving of
resources and removing social inequalities and at the same time, promoting economic growth and
development. Calgary s urban sustainable development model has been selected and would be
discussed in the lights of broad and diverse academic resources.
Importance and Significance of Sustainable Development
Definition
Sustainable Development is a term, which is defined as the development that caters sustainability of
the present environment in order to meet its needs and at the same time, ensures that the present
development would not in any way harm the future environment for the future generations (Bartelmus,
2011). In the year 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development published a report

Situational Leadership Theory, Transformational, And...
Introduction
There are a few leadership theories, but for this research I will only on four of these. The theories that
will be discussed are Situational leadership theory, Contingency theory, Transformational, and
Transactional theory. The theory Transformational is pondered by several to be the theory
improvement for transactional leadership theory, and it appears to have a cumulative number of
research studies that are supporting the benefits of this theory. So, I will also compare and discuss the
contrast of the four different theories, and like a few examples. In an ever changing organization, there
are many who suggest that maybe transactional and transformational theories are the optimal theory

in failure for the leader. This theories in general state in order to be effectiveness will depend upon the
nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of the group being led, and factors.
Transformational theory
To use Transformational leadership theory we need to understand what it is. Transformational
leadership theory is the process that transforms and changes people. In other words, this theory gives
the leadership the ability to get his followers improve, and feel empowered to change, and to be led.
The theory involves evaluating the associates motives, filling their needs, and appreciating them. So, a
leader using the transformational theory could make their company more triumphant just by
appreciating there associates.
Transformational leadership theory may be found at all levels of the organization: teams, departments,
divisions, and organization as a whole ( Transformational Leadership Theory , n.d., para. 2). These
leaders are daring, visionary, risk takers, thoughtful thinkers, inspiring, and have a charismatic appeal.
But magnetism alone is inadequate for altering the way an organization functions. Therefore, they
cannot bring major changes, unless they have the four I s factors, which

Corinthians 1 And 2 Summary
The Book of 1st Corinthians is letters written by Paul to the church in the city of Corinth. Paul sent
these letters as a response to a letter he received from the Corinthian Church. The city of Corinth was
a wealthy trading center located on the Mediterranean Sea. Corinth was a city known for its
wickedness. The people lived very sinful lives. The church consisted of converted idolaters,
adulterers, male prostitutes, thieves, drunkards and swindlers.(6:9 11)The new church in Corinth faced
tribulation because Christians struggled to act differently than the people around them. They were not
getting along with one another, and they were taking sides. This paper will examine the books of
Corinthians and the universal truth of love in the New Testament. Corinthians One and Two were

Character Analysis Of Regina George And Kate Sanders
Just as rules and boundaries exist in most of the world, they also make their way into the movie
making industry, in particularly in Hollywood films. Hollywood moviemakers focus on relatable, real
life possible events, which they dramatize and turn into big hit blockbusters. In order to categorize
their many productions, they use the notion of genre and create their own rules/qualifications to be
able to classify movies as such. This categorization even persists within the movies themselves,
especially within the extremely popular teen girl genre. Teen girl films focus primarily on the
stereotypical junior high/high school life of an adolescent female. Thus, the narrative of the films must
contain specific rules and character types that encompass high school life. To make a real seller, the
most often used character type is the so called mean or popular girl in a social hierarchy based school.
In order to be identified as the mean and popular girl character, one must be physically attractive,
judgmental/cruel, and be the center of attention. To understand this archetypal character type it is best
to examine the two most infamous popular girls in the industry, Regina George, and Kate Sanders.
Although, Regina George and Kate Sanders exist in two very distinct narratives, their personality
traits are not at all different or unique. Interestingly, since The Lizzie McGuire Movie was produced
before Mean Girls, Kate Sanders ends up being the first typical

length of the throw, the shooting time also depends on speed (p. 5). The players were put through a

Research Paper On Six Sigma
Abstract
Six Sigma is a business instrument for the betterment of a process. It is a controlled approach and
methodology for obviating defects in any process such as manufacturing, businesses and any product
or service. Six Sigma has been gaining tremendous popularity in industry today. However, academics
have conducted limited research on this rising phenomenon. Interpreting Six Sigma primarily requires
giving out a conceptual definition and describing an underlying theory. This topic uses Grounded
theory approach and meager literature available to suggest an initial definition and theory of Six
Sigma. This paper indicates that although tools and techniques on the topic are similar to earlier
approaches of quality management, it provides a structure which is more detailed. This emerging
structure for quality management attempts to improve the quality of the yield of a process by
identifying and obviating the defects and causes lowering variability in business processes. Also one
of the important areas touched upon is the conceptual understanding of Six Sigma. Each Six Sigma

Should Speed Limits Be Allowed
I feel that the regulation of speed limits is acceptable. It s safe and responsible when driving on certain
roads. Having limitations on the speed limits reduces deaths and injuries from car crashes.
Additionally, having reduced speed limits near parks and schools, protects the community and the
children living there. People should feel a sense of obligation to follow the speed limits when they
drive.
First, I feel when driving with speed limitations make it safer and responsible for drivers. Without
these limitations, it can put people at risk of car crashes. Car crashes occur every day, so imagine if
there were no speed limits at all how many crashes would occur. No one will know how fast or how

SOCIAL PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS
OF DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR 1. INTRODUCTION
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar s philosophical contribution has in the areas of Humanism, realism and
rationalism. He propounded a philosophy of humanism taking in account both theory and practice. For
him philosophy is not purely theoretic matter but has practical potentialities. It has its roots in the
problems of life and the theories that are propounded return back as a contribution for the
reconstruction of the society. (Jatava, 1997)

and Ambedkar goes completely against such view. It finds no place in the philosophical, ethical and

Ambedkar was not only an idealist but also a realist. His move toward drafting of the constitution was
not merely philosophical but a realistic one. It throws light on the existing social condition aiming at
national goals and bringing about reformation in the Indian society. He was committed to the social
restructuring but in a democratic way. He did not go against the government but remained in the
government to serve the interests of the scheduled castes and other exploited classes. He believed that
it was much easier to bring about change from within than from outside. (Jatava, 2008)
Ambedkar is not only a philosopher or a scholar but also a statesman, leader and liberator. Some of his
Social thoughts that contributed to the dignity and social status to the exploited section of the Indian
society could be enlisted below. (Keer, 1971) 8.1. Equality and Freedom
Ambedkar was in search of equality and truth. He did not find it in Hinduism therefore he was on a

Social and political movements, such as Occupy Wall Street, have served to galvanize the debate over
CEO pay in the United States. While no one would argue that today s executives earn more than ever
before, a question arises over whether or not limits should be placed on the amount of compensation
they should earn. Those who would oppose the motion of placing limits on the amount that executives
should earn argue that CEOs pay is commensurate with their performance and the high risk nature of
their job. Similarly, those in favour of the motion would argue that such high salaries only serve to

What Really Caused The Nullification Crisis Of The South...
During the late 1820s, John C. Calhoun believed that the tariff of 1816 was responsible for the decline
of the South Carolina economy. Calhoun believed that if he developed the Theory of Nullification
people in his home state would view him differently. The Theory of Nullification is the idea that states
(unions) have the rights to void any law that is created by the government that is seen unconstitutional.
States are the foundation of the Union, so they have the power to refuse any unconstitutional laws, and
really states usually have the final say. What really caused the Nullification Crisis were many series of
Protective Tariffs. Protective Tariffs are taxes placed on imported goods that are from foreign
countries and their duty is to raise the price of foreign goods, making them less attractive to
consumers protecting them from foreign competition such as; The Tariff of 1816 that placed a 20 25
percent tax on foreign goods, The Tariff of 1824 which placed a 35 percent duty on imported iron,
wool, hemp, and cotton, finally the Tariff of 1828 which is also known as the Tariff of Abominations it
was the third protective tariff and increased taxes to almost 50 percent. European factories during
1816 were far more experienced and with that great capability American factories couldn t compare
because their factories were new, and with that major difference in prices America couldn t compare to
the Europeans. The government then decided that they should make the first

lure potential customers.
Rivalry There has been and may always be a large amount of rivalry between competing donut
producers. The range of producers is vast, from small private bakeries to larger chains such as
Dunkin¡¦ Donuts. Donuts are easily produced from relatively inexpensive ingredients. This creates
competition and rivalry and Krispy Kreme should be look at expanding its product lines into new
markets.
Core Competencies
Krispy Kreme has an excellent Marketing Department. They have kept a good reputation and
established good rapport in the domestic market. Having excellent and swift customer service is a
good business strategy that led to the development of their doughnut making machine. The original

But, due to the changing in business environment it is important to focus on corporate success in order
to be competitive in this environment.
A number of success factors researches shows that the most important factors contributing to success
are business s management systems and practices (Lussier, 1995), (Strischek, 1998). Some other
factors leading to business success addressed in the research are implementation of accounting
systems and regular review of financial statements (Gerstel, 1991), control of job site safety (Gordon,
1997), and ongoing training and education (Bednarz, 1997). In the Hutchings and Christofferson study
(Christofferson Hutchings, 2001), carried out among small volume residential firms in the United
States, the most important factors to business success were identified as quality workmanship,
honesty, having good subcontractors, customer communications, reputation, having good employees,
and completing projects on time, respectively. In a survey carried out among Germany s firms, the
most important success factors were found as employee development, effective risk management,
innovation, partnerships with customers, and lean organizational structure (Roland Berger Strategy
Consultants, 2004).
The use of critical success factors has covered several SMEs during the last decade. The scope of the
small business may differ, but the

David Wallace Big Fish Analysis
In David Wallace s Big Fish the readers are introduced to Edward Bloom, the main protagonist and a
larger than life character. The course of the story follows the ebb and flow of adventure in Edward s
life, beginning from a young age in the mystical town of Ashland, and eventually ending poetically in
a guest room. While both of these events may seem normal enough it is the occurences, as described
by Edward, that take place in between that blur the line between fantasy and reality. Therefore, in Big
Fish by David Wallace, Edward s stories teach about the spontaneity of life and the knowledge we can
gain from the stories of others.
Throughout Big Fish Edward Bloom is known for exaggerating the truth of his life, however it is

A great illustration of this would be the story of Kyle the giant. To further illustrate, while most of the
townspeople regard Kyle as a monstrous being who is intent on destroying them all, Edward is able to
see past their fear and of his own accord reason with and understand Kyle. This is an obvious lesson
about not judging a book by its over. Furthermore, while the story of the big catfish ultimately drives
Edward and William apart, the reasoning behind it can be inferred; Edward is trying to glamourize his
life for his son, rather than bore him by telling him a simple business trip away, he wants to astound
him with his own strength and majesty. While the story itself doesn t have the desired effect, it does
teach a lesson about being true to yourself and how much of an effect being truthful can have. While
most of the stories within the book can teach a lesson, or a truth, about life, none of them really are the
factual truth and the reader as well as William begin to question if you can really learn something
from another individual s

Using Groen s Essay “Books Still Win” Tragic Realism Is...
Reality is Quality There are many perspectives and definitions on art, an abstract topic. In the world of
books, nothing is considered art unless the novel can engage the readers through the author s use of
emotions and stylistic syntax. Using Groen s essay Books Still Win tragic realism is seen in Joshua
Ferris novel Then We Came to the End. Tragic realism is evident in Ferris novel through the fact there
is both good and bad within a person, that life improves with struggles and that sadness is always
evident. An author s piece begins to impact the audience once connections are made between the
readers and characters of the novel. Rick Groen states that fictional characters acquire more

Genevieve slips out that the employees are accusing Joe of being an elitist Joe responds I m not an
elitist by the definition I just gave you, either, Genevieve, the dictionary one, because I m not part of
the group. I refuse to be part of any group. (Ferris 257) Joe Pope is the middle line between Mason s
position in the company and the rest of the employees. Ferris portrays Pope as a loner and a person
who underestimates everyone else in the company due to the workers opinions. In the passage
following this quote, the readers see that Joe has led a horrible life he is guilty of; he believes that
being part of another group will lead him to make the same decisions he did in the past. He
unknowingly took part in bullying someone and he did not do anything to prevent it, thus making him
a bad person. This proves that everyone has both good and bad within themselves. Because of these
reasons, he avoids any group work. However, Joe did not do any wrong to the employees, yet they
judge without a slight hesitation without knowing the full story. This is what people do on a regular
basis. Joe s past consists of bullying, harassment and prison. There are many who can relate to Joe s
personality and past life, which makes this book a good example for tragic realism. Nothing comes

The Passion Of The Christ
Passion of the Christ
In this film Passion of the Christ the scene begins with Jesus being brought into a Roman court yard
bound in shackles and chains, limping and visibly beaten from the night before. Jesus was arrested in
the early am hours so that any protest of the Pharisees behaviors would not be made. The elders of the
Synagogue want to be in full control of what happens to Jesus. In this analysis I will explain my
viewpoint of Why it was so vital for bad things to happen to this man and What good can come from
violence being displayed in this manner?
Jesus is brought in to stand trial before Pilate a Roman governor. Pilate clearly does not want to
condemn this man; this was partly because he sees no real crime committed and partly because of a
vision his wife had in a dream. Pilate first asks the Jewish High Priests Do you always punish your
prisoners before they re judged? Pilate questions Caiaphas and Jesus and finds no merit worthy of
death and tries to pass the decision of Jesus fate off to King Herod. However, King Herod gets
nowhere with his line of questioning towards Jesus so he sends the decision back to Pilate. Pilate
undeniably does not wish to crucify this man and attempts to free him by allowing a choice for a
prisoner to be freed. Yet, to his surprise the people decide to free Barabbas, a murder, over freeing
Jesus, a non violent man. This decision was thanks to the persuasion of Caiaphas and the other men of
the cloth. Once again, Pilate

To a non art student the visual at first glance is very important to set the tone of the paintings. This helps the viewer understand the groundwork of the subject matter. Picasso s Guernica is very representational but I can also see so abstract aspects in a weird way. Goya s Third of May is naturalistic and representational but unlike Guernica we can clearly see the people who are in charge causing the struggle. In both paintings the value of the light plays important role in the paintings. Picasso uses shades of black and white to show all the different aspects and the painting. Goya uses the value of the light to direct our attention to the main events in the painting. The lines in Guernica is more curvy, where as Goya s third of May has more straight lines which effects the flow of the painting. In both of the paintings the background of the paintings are very similar. People, places, animals and things are being destroyed because of ruling issues. In Goya s painting to can see hopelessness and suffering on the man s face while begging for his life. Both of the paintings we can feel the senseless violence that was depicted. • 10. Character Analysis Of Regina George And Kate Sanders Just as rules and boundaries exist in most of the world, they also make their way into the movie making industry, in particularly in Hollywood films. Hollywood moviemakers focus on relatable, real life possible events, which they dramatize and turn into big hit blockbusters. In order to categorize their many productions, they use the notion of genre and create their own rules/qualifications to be able to classify movies as such. This categorization even persists within the movies themselves, especially within the extremely popular teen girl genre. Teen girl films focus primarily on the stereotypical junior high/high school life of an adolescent female. Thus, the narrative of the films must contain specific rules and character types that encompass high school life. To make a real seller, the most often used character type is the so called mean or popular girl in a social hierarchy based school. In order to be identified as the mean and popular girl character, one must be physically attractive, judgmental/cruel, and be the center of attention. To understand this archetypal character type it is best to examine the two most infamous popular girls in the industry, Regina George, and Kate Sanders. Although, Regina George and Kate Sanders exist in two very distinct narratives, their personality traits are not at all different or unique. Those who would oppose the motion of placing limits on the amount that executives should earn argue that CEOs pay is commensurate with their performance and the high risk nature of their job. Similarly, those in favour of the motion would argue that such high salaries only serve to encourage CEOs to engage in risky behaviour while imposing significant social and economic costs on everybody else. This essay will argue that, given the significant economic and social costs of skyrocketing executive pay, that it is imperative that government place limits on the salaries of CEOS of publicly traded companies. In doing so, this essay will trace the rise of executive pay in the American economy, critically examine the issue of whether or not CEOs earn their paycheques and explore the high social and economic costs imposed on others when the wage between is so high. The essay will conclude by examining different options available to government in their attempt to rein in astronomical executive pay. A SHORT HISTORY OF ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although a war council was expected amongst those attending, it would reflect poorly upon the Honda clan if they didn t receive the great lords with all the pomp and ceremony that was expected. Thus the duties of resource management and event planning were added on the already daunting task of security management. Rice was collected from the domain, as was pickled vegetables, miso, fish and salt. Chefs well practiced in their arts were retained to prepare the feasts meant to satisfy their guests pallets. Toranosuke had even gone through great lengths to procure goods from Nagasaki: meats preserved in salt imported from Ryukyu and even red western sake that Nobunaga sama was reputed to have developed a taste for. • 21. What Really Caused The Nullification Crisis Of The South... During the late 1820s, John C. Calhoun believed that the tariff of 1816 was responsible for the decline of the South Carolina economy. Calhoun believed that if he developed the Theory of Nullification people in his home state would view him differently. The Theory of Nullification is the idea that states (unions) have the rights to void any law that is created by the government that is seen unconstitutional. States are the foundation of the Union, so they have the power to refuse any unconstitutional laws, and really states usually have the final say. What really caused the Nullification Crisis were many series of Protective Tariffs. Protective Tariffs are taxes placed on imported goods that are from foreign countries and their duty is to raise the price of foreign goods, making them less attractive to consumers protecting them from foreign competition such as; The Tariff of 1816 that placed a 20 25 percent tax on foreign goods, The Tariff of 1824 which placed a 35 percent duty on imported iron, wool, hemp, and cotton, finally the Tariff of 1828 which is also known as the Tariff of Abominations it was the third protective tariff and increased taxes to almost 50 percent. European factories during 1816 were far more experienced and with that great capability American factories couldn t compare because their factories were new, and with that major difference in prices America couldn t compare to the Europeans. While both of these events may seem normal enough it is the occurences, as described by Edward, that take place in between that blur the line between fantasy and reality. Furthermore, while the story of the big catfish ultimately drives Edward and William apart, the reasoning behind it can be inferred; Edward is trying to glamourize his life for his son, rather than bore him by telling him a simple business trip away, he wants to astound him with his own strength and majesty. While the story itself doesn t have the desired effect, it does teach a lesson about being true to yourself and how much of an effect being truthful can have. In this analysis I will explain my viewpoint of Why it was so vital for bad things to happen to this man and What good can come from violence being displayed in this manner? Jesus is brought in to stand trial before Pilate a Roman governor. Pilate clearly does not want to condemn this man; this was partly because he sees no real crime committed and partly because of a vision his wife had in a dream. Pilate first asks the Jewish High Priests Do you always punish your prisoners before they re judged? Pilate questions Caiaphas and Jesus and finds no merit worthy of death and tries to pass the decision of Jesus fate off to King Herod. However, King Herod gets nowhere with his line of questioning towards Jesus so he sends the decision back to Pilate. Pilate undeniably does not wish to crucify this man and attempts to free him by allowing a choice for a prisoner to be freed. Yet, to his surprise the people decide to free Barabbas, a murder, over freeing Jesus, a non violent man. This decision was thanks to the persuasion of Caiaphas and the other men of the cloth.
