Lab Report On Red Cabbage Indicator
Red Cabbage Indicator Experiment
Aim: The aim of our investigation was to identify and understand how different chemicals (Acids,
alkalis and neutral) react and experience a change in colour due of this.
Introduction:
The red cabbage indicator shows how a usual household product such as red cabbage can make a
suitable indicator and be able find out if a chemical is either and acid, alkali or neutral. Acids are a
chemical that reacts with an alkali neutralising it producing water and a salt. Acids are also commonly
found to be sour tasting. Acids react with metals, releasing hydrogen gas and leaving behind a salt
they also can conduct electricity. Acids also readily give off hydrogen ions and have a pH level lower
than 7. Some more common laboratory acids are Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric Acids. Sulphuric
acids and water are used in car batteries as the electrolyte.
Bases or alkali are a chemical that will react with acids and usually have a slimy or soapy feeling on
contact with skin. Bases readily accept hydrogen ions and has a pH level that is higher the 7. Bases
have a bitter taste and neutralise d by acids, producing water and a salt. Some common laboratory
bases are Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Hydroxide. Stronger bases are
commonly used today in many cleaning products.
Indicators help us find wether if a chemical is an acid or base. The scale that is used to find wether a
chemical is an acid or a base is the pH scale. The pH scale gives

Conclusion:
VR came about as an idea from a cinematographer named Morton Heilig in 1960. Ivan Sutherland
continued when Heilig ran out of money.
Advantages of Virtual Reality:
Virtual reality creates a realistic world.
It enables user to explore places.
Through Virtual Reality user can test with an artificial environment.
Virtual Reality makes the education more effortlessly and comfort.
Disadvantages of Virtual Reality
The equipments used in virtual reality are very expensive.
It consists of complex technology.
In VR environment we can t move by our own like in the real world.
Only limitation in future would be our imagination regarding virtual reality.

Regional Differences Between The Northern And Southern...
1. The first important difference between the northern and southern colonies were the motives people
had in choosing where to settle. The northern colonies primarily consisted of people who were looking
for religious freedom. It was also comprised of men who were well versed in law and government. A
common purpose unified the colonists in the north and helped to create tight knit communities. As a
result, the northern states thrived. There was a dramatic increase in population and a longer life span.
Economic gain is what drove settlers south. These colonies were mostly comprised of young men with
little to no claim in English society. Large plantations replaced tight knit communities. A lack of
purpose in religious and social objectives stunted the growth of the southern colonies. By the mid to
late 1700 s the southern states began to stabilize and population began to increase. 2. The second
difference between the northern and southern colonies were the regional differences between the
people. Religion dominated the northern colonies. It governed the culture as well as the daily choices
people made. In the north education and literacy were important and as a result there were
opportunities to go to school and be educated. In the north, most of men were intellects and many
were university educated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economy is the third difference. The northern states depended on manufacturing and trade to fuel their
economy. The growing season was much shorter than that of the south. As a result, northerners looked
to other ways of making money. Many became artisans and tradesmen. The shorter farming seasons
also reduced the need for slave labor in the north. In contrast, the south relied primarily on agriculture.
While land owners learned what crops to grow the economy in the south continued to be unstable. By
the early 1700 s plantation owners began growing various kinds of crops instead of relying solely on
tobacco. This helped to stabilize and grow the southern

Wal Mart Vs. K Mart
Wal Mart vs. K Mart Introduction of the Wal Mart Company A megacorporation with sales that
consistently rank it as the number one or number two publicly traded company in the United States
and in the world, Wal Mart has impacted wage rates, prices, and economies on a local, national, and
global scale. It is arguably the world s most important privately controlled economic institution. It not
only has no rivals, it actually influences the prices set by its suppliers and has often seemed
impervious to challenge, let alone accountability (Fishman 6). A company focused on the motto Save
Money, Live Better, Wal Mart must be doing something right. According to Doug McMillon, CEO

It all began in his late 20s, having no background knowledge in retailing at all, as he opened up his
very first variety store entitled Walton s Five and Dime. It was right then and there that Walton began
to offer low prices compared to the other businesses in the local area. His idea of offering low prices
surprisingly worked and he soon found himself venturing out and purchasing 15 variety stores all
located around the central area by 1960. Everyone in town thought Sam was nuts for taking such a
serious risk on drastically cutting back prices, but Sam never felt the least bit worried about his
strategy. In 1962, the first Wal Mart opened its doors, along with two other well known discounting
chains, K Mart and Woolco. Sam stood his ground and before he knew it 18 Wal Marts were officially
up and operating smoothly and successfully in two states. The rest is simply history. Wal Mart s
Corporate Culture Every successful business or company must have developed a strong corporate
culture in order to be successful in what they do. In Wal Mart s case, profit is the goal, but service is
the process ( Corporate Culture 20). While Wal Mart began as a discounted variety store, the company
has transformed into having Wal Mart Supercenters, Wal Mart Neighborhood Markets, and Sam s
Clubs across the world. Many Americans today are very familiar with Wal Mart Supercenters, but not
so much with Wal Mart Neighborhood Markets,

Correlation Between Earnings And Share Prices Essay
Question 1
The diagram illustrates the studies by Beaver, Clarke and Wright (1979) and Foster, Olsen and Shevlin
(1984). The studies are based on the Ball Brown study regarding the relationship between earnings
and share prices. This diagram shows that the size and sign of unexpected Earnings per Share (EPS) is
related to the sign and size of cumulative Abnormal Return (AR).
The graph represents the portfolio in ranking order based on the forecast error and EPS. There are 10
portfolios in which the first portfolio has the most negative forecast error and EPS while the tenth
portfolio has the most positive forecast error and EPS. This means that Portfolio 1 is the worst
performing firm in regarding the earnings (most negative share price reaction) while Portfolio 10 is
the best performing firm (most positive share price reaction). Based on the fourth and fifth portfolio,
the share reaction is very small. The negative abnormal return in portfolio 4 is pretty much negligible
and the same can be said in portfolio 5 where there is only a slight positive share price reaction. This
is due to the fact that the information is not too much of a surprise for the shareholders to react hugely.
Therefore, it can be said that from portfolio 1 to 4, they are the bad news firms while portfolio 5 to 10
are the good news firms.
In conclusion, the hypothesis made by the studies is proven to be correct. The firm with the most
negative forecast error and EPS has the most negative AR and

Old Timer
My definition of old timer would be someone in their 70s.80s. So I would take the age at which Mr.
Old Timer was raising his children, which was apparently when he would have been at the age to
determine respectfulness of his own children. Let s say 25 years old. That generation would have had
multiple children by then. If he was born in 1940, he would have been 25 years old in 1965. I would
take data from his geographic area from the years 1965 and 2010. Each group would have 20 people
who were under the age of twenty years old in each of the two years. They would be interviewed on
criminal record, juvenile record, level of education, drug use or history of, and perceived life
satisfactions during childhood, as well as parenting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outcome then depends on the data and information collected. While testing a hypothesis, the
researcher might commit type 1 or type 2 error because either the null hypothesis or alternative
hypothesis is rejected when it is true. Rejecting of the null hypothesis will result in type 1 error; and
alternative hypothesis in type 2 error. It is therefore important to allow room for possibility of
committing either of these errors as no study is perfect (Chang, 2011). Hypothesis I will formulate is
How does the level of parental involvement in children s lives affect the amount of respect given and
trouble caused in the past vs now.
To test this hypothesis, I would conduct a study of an acceptable sample size from a population that
best describes my study. I would then conduct a survey on a group of parents from a decade to two
decades ago and now; asking them questions regarding their involvement with their child and the
amount of respect given to them from their children and how much troubled they caused. After the
collection of my data and my results are recorded, a statistical test should be done to determine
whether the difference between the parental involvements from a decade to two decades ago versus
the involvement now is affecting the amount of respect given and trouble caused by their kids, and if

The Marriage Process in Turkish Culture
The Marriage Process In Turkish Culture
The United States is a country, founded on freedom, immersed with immigrants hoping to secure their
independence and reconstruct their lives. The United States, unlike many other countries, is made up
entirely of different cultures and ethnic groups. This country is home to many middle eastern citizens,
with a great majority of Turkish Americans. According to the Embassy of the United States, there are
currently 500,000 Americans with Turkic descent (TMPFA). The existence of Turkish families in the
country is a positive one as their talent, creativity and hard work strengthens our nation. The struggle
of these people to adjust to American society can be demanding, but many Turkish people choose to
carry on their family traditions. The aim of this paper is to analyze the partner selection, engagement
process and wedding ceremonies of Turkish couples within the United States.
The partner selection in Turkish culture customarily requires acceptance by both families, along with
incorporation of traditional gender roles and courtship. Family acceptance of the unmarried couples is
of high importance to Turkish culture. It is expected that a prospective single marry within their social
class and religion. Marriage within the same social class is necessary because of the separation seen in
Turkey. Turkey is very unlike the United States in the sense that there is a very large social gap
between the rich and poor, with a very small middle

Gun Control And The Gun Laws
[Title Here, up to 12 Words, on One to Two Lines]
Introduction
Last year, then Republican candidate Carly Fiorina claimed that states with strict gun laws had the
highest gun crime rate in the nation (Robertson, 2015). The following month, President Barack Obama
stated that states with stricter gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths (Robertson, 2015). The
West might have been won with a Smith Wesson, but in our modern society guns are the subject of
much debate. While some groups push for fewer guns and more gun control, others insist that
increased gun control leads to increased crime. Both sides cite statistics in support of their views, yet
experts who have reviewed the same data have concluded that the data is inconclusive. The contenders
on both sides don t ever address the other factors that contribute to crime, such as poverty, racial
tensions, a strained and overworked police force, and the deterioration of family social structure. As a
nation, we need to move beyond the never ending debate over gun control. We need to work out a
compromise that will help law enforcement put a stop to these terrible mass shootings while
preserving Second Amendment rights.
History
The first modern American gun control law was the National Firearm Act of 1934. It was passed in an
effort to curb mass shooting of that time (The Washington Post, 2012). This law was followed by the
National Firearms Act of 1938, the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, the Brady

Sustainability Is Not Green
What is sustainability? In contemporary design, sustainability is a furious warrior under a green coat.
People usually attribute sustainability with the color green, essence of nature or love and care for
mother earth. In the context of construction, this means placing plants in buildings, installing green
roofs and use local construction materials. Sustainability is much more than a green coat concept
draped over buildings. Sustainability is strong, a courageous idea that would change the future.
To sustain is to withstand and endure without giving away. A sustainable civilization should not empty
natural resources and endanger the environment. To sustain is ...to meet the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Preservation runs
parallel with the concept of sustainability. To sustain is to preserve the current. To Sustain is to discard
the idea of wastefulness. Concern about the environment and preservation of natural resource had
become a heated debate among citizens, designers, and politics. United States alone uses a significant
among of world s energy and produces a great amount of greenhouse gas. According to U.S.
Department of Energy s EIA for 2007, commercial and residential buildings consume about 40 percent
of the energy usage in the United States. Building constructions plays an important role in sustainable
development and environmental preservation because building life cycle starts with

Comparing my Local Grocery Store to Walmart
For this assignment, I decided to go to a grocery store by my house named Meijer. Meijer is just like
any other grocery store, similar to Wal Mart, yet higher quality products than Wal Mart. The clothing
for both boys and girls sections are close together. I noticed that there are articles of clothing that are
similar for boys and girls, but they are called different names to make them more masculine or
feminine. For example, shirts for girls are called fashion tops and just shirts for boys. Some patterns
that I saw in the clothing/toys is that for almost each advertisement or label had a picture of a boy or a

Other factors are how kids play with each other, their peers they are surrounded by, and the media.
Males tend to be more physical when they play indicating that they are more aggressive than females
are. Both males and females play different sports than females. An instance would be football, soccer,
and wrestling, compared to cheerleading, gymnastics, and volleyball for the girls. Football, soccer,
and wrestling are a more physical contact sport than cheerleading, gymnastics or volleyball are. Peers
is also another part for socialization because the way boys or girls act around each other. Children
follow by example, so if they see their friends doing something, they will most likely follow. As
children get older, peers plays a bigger part in influencing children to act a certain way according to
society and other peers. Lastly, the media is additionally has a huge impression on how kids should act
and look. The commercials for children on T.V. convince children what they should be playing with,
who they should be playing with, how they should look, and how they should act. It is very rare to see
girls playing Legos or hot wheels in commercials. The same is for boys, commercials do not promote
boys playing with and accessorizing with Barbie dolls. Some clothes that are deemed to be gender
neutral are certain types of shirts and shoes. An example of a gender neutral shirt

it s development. The first Nintendo console to be offered in the United States was made available
during a time when the video game market in the U.S. had just gone through a major decline. In the

United States negative feelings towards gaming, was released to U.S. consumers in 1985. In order to
effectively penetrate the American gaming market place, it required a well thought out marketing plan
that would differentiate Nintendo s product from the previous video games that had disappointed
Americans so much.
The lack of consumer confidence in the United States was partially due to the misrepresentation of
video games by marketers beginning in the 1970 s and into the early 1980 s. One of Nintendo s

welcoming his guest into his home. Also, he is not being very sympathetic of what this man s
condition that he lives with is, being blind. The Narrator must learn to be more sympathetic in his life,
and should learn from this experience, with this older bling man. Raymond Carver uses his narrator
non sympathetic ways effectively throughout the story, developing of the narrator from the beginning

the short story, by showing that the blind man can see more than him sometimes. The narrator says
from the beginning that he does not like how this blind man is coming to visit him and his wife. He
knows that that the blind man and his wife have had known each other longer than the two of them
have known each other. Instead of welcoming his wife s old friend, he categorizes her friend with her

Abstract
Software testing is a technical task, but it also involves some important considerations of economics
and human psychology. In technical aspects it is the process of analyzing a software item to detect the
differences between existing and required conditions (that is defects/errors/bugs) and to evaluate the
features of the software item . A software error occurs when the program does not do, what its end
user reasonably expects it to do.
Software testing is more difficult because of the vast array of programming languages, operating

Introduction
Software engineering provides the framework for building the high quality software. It integrates the
various strategies, methods and tools for the software development. The revolution of software
engineering offers the different types of software development models. It majorly ratifies the
performance of the software through the testing and maintenance phase of the software.
The testing move toward the static testing (human testing) and dynamic testing (Computer aided
testing).
There are some basic strategies that qualify the software to make sure it s good performance. These
strategies listed below
Structure testing
 White box testing( developer testing)
 focuses on the inner structure of the test object
Function testing
 Black box testing ( user testing)
 Behavior given by the specification The validation improves the performance of testing by
increasing the confidence in the quality issues of the software.
System Testing
System testing is not a process of testing the functions of the complete system or program, because
this would be redundant with the process of function testing. This testing has a particular purpose as to

The cause and effect statement that will be true in most cases include,
Class learning will provide higher grades
Such statement will be true as there will be the more effectiveness in mentioned status and the
standards for the school settings.
3. Are there any advantages to having more than one independent variable in an experimental design?
If so, what are they? What about more than one dependent variable?
Yes, it can be the best tools to have more than one independent variables as there is no limitation for a
single variable to be affecting entirely on the dependent variable. It is thus, the way to manage and

Evaluation Of A Universal Design For Learning
When it comes to education, it is important to determine what method of content delivery is going to
be the most effective for each individual class. Furthermore, it becomes increasingly important to
determine the most effective strategies for each individual student. Within the concept of a universal
design for learning (UDL), it becomes important to ensure that students have more than just access to
information: Non educators often make the mistake of equating access to information with access to
learning (Rose Meyer 2002). With UDL, students not only have access to information, but they are
enable through the access to learning. This can be manifested in a number of ways, but is
characterized by the availability of environments that promote learning and education that promotes
learning. UDL then becomes the method for which educators provide students with a variety of
methods to engage cognition, and allow for educators to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners by Implementing UDL Developing a curriculum is a difficult
process, moreso when an educator has to keep in mind the number of students they are trying to reach.
At the secondary level, it is not uncommon for a teacher to be responsible for 150 or more students.
Each of these students presents a unique and trying task for educators who want to help students learn.
Students have different modalities for which they gain knowledge, and it is the teacher s job to engage

The Prevention Of Juvenile Delinquency
In 2012 the United States, juveniles between the age of 10 to 17 population is 33,248,000 and of that
1,319,700 total arrests (Puzzanchera and Kang, 2014). The crimes are then split into three categories:

Violent Crime index is 61,070 people, Property Crime Index is 295,400 and the non index is 173,100
juveniles were arrested (Puzzanchera and Kang, 2014). Neglecting the prevention of juvenile
delinquency costs the society $1.7 to $2.3 million dollars per juvenile (Calhoun, Glaser, and
Bartolomucci, 2001).
The justice system was blind to the age of the offender, until the twentieth century (Ramirez, 2008).

Restitution can be paid in either money or worked off with community service. Many juveniles enter
into the system threw referrals or petitions. Referrals is when they have broken a law and if they were
of majority would be put in jail. Juveniles can be referred to the court from teachers, police, family,
and any person that considers the juvenile to be breaking a law. A petition is a document filed in the
juvenile court which addresses the issues that the juvenile should appear in court (Benekos,
Champion, Merlo, 2013).
Mental illness is another issue that is not adequately being addressed. Many kids that are being
incarcerated are not getting the mental health treatment that they are needing. Countless families are
postponed from services due to the absence of obtainable mental health services (Barksdale, Stephan,
Westin, 2014). Many times Juveniles come into group homes and have not been taking their
medication because they have been on the run. Some families know that something is wrong but are at
a loss of how to get help or where they should turn to get help.
Problem # 1 Lack of Treatment When Rehabilitating Juveniles
Treatment is administered in the same way in most cases dealing with juveniles, which is frustrating to
many personal (Fritz, March 2010). Juveniles are all different and need to get treatment to fit their

Witches Be Thy Enemy
For the greater part of Christianity the popular belief was that magic did not exist and while those who
did were diluted. By the end of the Inquisition there was an estimated 90,000 witch trials occur with
an estimated 50% of them resulting in executions (Levack, The Witch Hunt in Early Modern Europe
1987, 2006, 23). So what dramatic turn did Europe take during the Inquisition? In the late sixteenth
century the great witch hunt was beginning, and this was fueled by the European elites believing that
witches were actively harming their neighbors and conspiring with the Devil against the Catholic
Church. By the middle of the sixteenth century the profile of the witch was well known and the
educated European began to believe in witches (Levack, The Witch Hunt in Early Modern Europe
1987, 2006, 30). What these elite Europeans specifically believed about witches was that they had
created personal pacts with the Devil in exchange for the powers that they obtained. The places where
these pacts were formed were called the Sabbath (originating from the Jewish holy day), this is where
men and women whom practiced witchcraft would gather secretly at night and have relations with the
Devil, demons and each other (Levack, The Witch Hunt in Early Modern Europe 1987, 2006, 40 45).

receiving an eye cornea transplant, she starts seeing some bizarre entities that seem to predict violent
deaths.
After an incident, she reveals the fact of the visions to her doctor and he, not believing her, suggests a
visit to his psychologist nephew, Dr Wah. In the beginning he is also skeptical, but after a while, he
decides to escort her to Thailand, where Ling, the donor, used to live. There, they learn that the girl
had psychic powers that allowed her to predict deaths.
The biggest asset of The Eye is its technical fluidity. It has masterful direction by the Pang Brothers, ...

Oldboy (Spike Lee, 2013) adapted from Oldboy (Park Chan wook, S. Korea, 2003)
The original film focuses on Dae Su, a content family man, who, for no apparent reason, is abducted
and forced to live in the same room for 15 years. When he is unexpectedly released, he is set on
extracting revenge, although the sole evidence in his possession is the fact that he must accomplish
this revenge in five days.
Although Oldboy has revenge as its central theme, Park directs a movie with an actual goal of
presenting another dimension, one that leads to repentance. The humiliation and ensuing catharsis are
the primary concepts, and revenge, which creates chain reactions of growing hatred, is solely an
element of the set.
Oldboy has a plethora of stylized violent scenes, sublime acting, (mainly by Choi Min Shik, who plays
Dae Su), and equally competent directing, in one of the masterpieces of the global cinema.
Spike Lee stayed very close to the original script, retaining its general concept and plot twists.
However, the outcome of his adaptation is somewhat anemic, with the direction looking a bit detached
from the story, despite the satisfying performance of Josh Brolin. The toned down violence did not

Essay about Disney s Global Struggles
The Walt Disney Organization has many different business units. For example the company produces
movies, television shows, a television network and music. It also has merchandise to support the
movies, music, and tv shows. Another entertainment sector of the business is the cruise lines,
adventure travel and amusement parks. The amusement parks are located in Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong
and two locations in the United States, Florida and California. We will discuss the park history and
some of the challenges and accomplishments that Disney has faced expanding its parks globally.

Other than those accommodations lodging revenue was lost to independent hotels and motels in the
area that accommodated millions of visitors each year.
The second amusement park location was Florida. They purchased28,000 acres of land, enough for
plenty of park expansion, shopping and lodging (The Walt Disney Comany and Affliated Companies,
2011). The park opened in 1971 with the flagship Magic Kingdom Park. In 1982 they added the
futuristic park called the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow or EPCOT (The Walt
Disney Comany and Affliated Companies, 2011). In more recent years the Florida park have added
MGM Studios (now known as Hollywood Studios since the separation from MGM and Animal
Kingdom, Downtown Disney and two water parks. Walt Disney and the company had learned the
lesson from California about space and in Florida they still have plenty to expand and they have
dozens of hotels to host thousands of visitors. This became a destination vacation where families from
all over the world came, stayed and played at the parks.
The next venture was opening Disneyland in Tokyo. The company unsure of its first global park
expansion let Tokyo build and own it and Disney just took royalties on the park (Solomon Stranger,
1994). The park opened in 1983 and became a huge success even in the cooler climate. Disney learned
another lesson, always own the park

The Importance Of Muslim Wedding Ceremony
Muslim Wedding Ceremony Muslim Wedding Ceremony the wedding ceremony is always
celebrations no matter what religious people have there is always have enjoying movement. Muslim
wedding ceremony was different from the Hindu ceremony, but that s what I want to experience with.
Here I came in Muslim wedding ceremony with lots of guest and relatives that were invited. As I walk
through they welcome me with red flower I was little nervous because they were stranger to me. There
were lots of people coming with the gift or with their friends and family. The wedding was in the
church Conner side of the forest with lots of green trees. The place inside was very beautiful hanging
cross the red, yellow and white flower. People were started to take a picture with their friend and
relatives. As I look closer as I could, I saw that they have very special place where they both can sit
together and follow their rules. Every guest has a smile on their face and it was very joyful movement.
Muslim people followed the traditional Islamic wedding rituals include different kind of aspects the
wedding such as, audience, Maher, vows blessings, color, Party. In additionally, the ceremony start
with the audience is basally that Muslim people have one rule during the wedding that was they had to
get separated by gender. They had one place that is just for a man and another was for women. They
give so much importance to their audience that was invited to the ceremony. They will significantly
follow that rule because it was from the old generation to today s generations. Later on the audience is
required to not wear the shoes during the ceremony they had some place that they can keep their shoes
in the safe place. The audience is required for joining with them and also help them if they need help
to do something. They announce that most of the audience should wear their culture dress, but is not
required for the guest. They just want their relatives to wear the kurta and cap that was written the god
name on it so, they believe that they gives more respect about their god or culture. Therefore, they are
very responsible with each other and they know how to respect their guest who was invited. Maher is

Pre-Ballet Report
I slipped quietly in through the double doors, inwardly cringing as the moms observing the lesson
from outside stared at me. The young kids bounced around like popping popcorn, babbling noisily as
Mr. Eddie s desperate attempts to get them to listen to him went nowhere. However, once Mr. Eddie
noticed me, he introduced me to the children as an older dancer who is one of the best dancers in the
studio , and the bright room went still as they stared, intrigued, like mice, up at me. As the class
proceeded, I perched myself on a folding chair and contemplated the budding dancers having fun.
They glanced over at me for approval every now and then, at times disregarding Mr. Eddie s
directions, much to his vexation. He tried giving them multiple exciting games to play, such as the
princess and the frog , where they hopped across the room like frogs, twirled around like princesses on
the other side, and then bounced heavily back across. Though it seemed like they ... Show more

This class is as big of a contrast from the Pre Ballet class as the Sahara Desert is from the Amazon
Rainforest. The girls in this class were focused on improving their technique and reaching their
highest potential every day; despite this, there was not an air of competition such as is at most dance
studios. As I observed my peers from my vantage point on top of the barre, I noticed how everyone
made it a point to be friendly to each other and to give each other helpful corrections. I definitely feel
that I am lucky to be dancing with this studio, instead of a highly competitive one that judges dancers
based solely on their body type. If I were dancing with the latter, I think that it would bring me down
to the point where I would quit ballet; I just do not feel confident enough in my body to be able to be

Ballerina On A Tightrope Essay
The opening line of this piece started as a daydream. My one impossible daydream of a really graceful
ballerina on a tightrope, it was a strange daydream. That line to me just kind of rolled of the tongue,
but it s impractical and could never happen, but I could only imagine the kind of stress that the very
pretty ballerina would be feeling up on the tightrope. I created the poem out of a daydream but I ve
been under that kind of impossible stress, or what felt like impossible stress. Usually being thrown
into the deep end is how my department teaches people, that s mainly their form of trial by error, and
it test how far they could push you until you either A) Fail B) ask for help from people and fail or

Analysis Of The Book The On Mortal Kombat By Kevin Wilson
In the stories that author Kevin Wilson wrote in Tunneling to the Center of the Earth, several
characters are ruled by fear. The fear that these characters have eventually winded up having a
solution or solve that helps resolve their fears. Fear is defined as: a feeling of agitation or anxiety
caused by the presence or imminence of danger. An example of fear in one of the stories is Leonard in
Blowing up on the Spot, because he fears death and it controls and restricts his life. Towards the end
of that story, Leonard finds his resolve of having that fear. The type of things that can lead to
resolutions of fear is epiphanies. In his short story, Mortal Kombat to boys was facing a fear like no
other. In his short story called Mortal Kombat the boys Scotty and Wynn are best friends and they both
have this fear of accepting they are falling for one another. In Kevin Wilsons short story, Mortal
Kombat the narrator says, It is simple and awkward at the same time, the way they proceed. There is
only the quickness of movement, the instinctive responses of the body. It feels like fighting; that is
what runs through both of their minds. It lasts all of two minutes, maybe less. (76). The kiss made
them realize they are maybe attracted to eachother and their feelings couldn t fight what they were
feeling anymore. This fear that each of them show towards the situation puts a restriction on their life
for awhile. The thoughts that are going thru scotty head while he is raking

  • 2. Lab Report On Red Cabbage Indicator Red Cabbage Indicator Experiment Aim: The aim of our investigation was to identify and understand how different chemicals (Acids, alkalis and neutral) react and experience a change in colour due of this. Introduction: The red cabbage indicator shows how a usual household product such as red cabbage can make a suitable indicator and be able find out if a chemical is either and acid, alkali or neutral. Acids are a chemical that reacts with an alkali neutralising it producing water and a salt. Acids are also commonly found to be sour tasting. Acids react with metals, releasing hydrogen gas and leaving behind a salt they also can conduct electricity. Acids also readily give off hydrogen ions and have a pH level lower than 7. Some more common laboratory acids are Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric Acids. Sulphuric acids and water are used in car batteries as the electrolyte. Bases or alkali are a chemical that will react with acids and usually have a slimy or soapy feeling on contact with skin. Bases readily accept hydrogen ions and has a pH level that is higher the 7. Bases have a bitter taste and neutralise d by acids, producing water and a salt. Some common laboratory bases are Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Hydroxide. Stronger bases are commonly used today in many cleaning products. Indicators help us find wether if a chemical is an acid or base. The scale that is used to find wether a chemical is an acid or a base is the pH scale. The pH scale gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Regional Differences Between The Northern And Southern... 1. The first important difference between the northern and southern colonies were the motives people had in choosing where to settle. The northern colonies primarily consisted of people who were looking for religious freedom. It was also comprised of men who were well versed in law and government. A common purpose unified the colonists in the north and helped to create tight knit communities. As a result, the northern states thrived. There was a dramatic increase in population and a longer life span. Economic gain is what drove settlers south. These colonies were mostly comprised of young men with little to no claim in English society. Large plantations replaced tight knit communities. A lack of purpose in religious and social objectives stunted the growth of the southern colonies. By the mid to late 1700 s the southern states began to stabilize and population began to increase. 2. The second difference between the northern and southern colonies were the regional differences between the people. Religion dominated the northern colonies. It governed the culture as well as the daily choices people made. In the north education and literacy were important and as a result there were opportunities to go to school and be educated. In the north, most of men were intellects and many were university educated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economy is the third difference. The northern states depended on manufacturing and trade to fuel their economy. The growing season was much shorter than that of the south. As a result, northerners looked to other ways of making money. Many became artisans and tradesmen. The shorter farming seasons also reduced the need for slave labor in the north. In contrast, the south relied primarily on agriculture. While land owners learned what crops to grow the economy in the south continued to be unstable. By the early 1700 s plantation owners began growing various kinds of crops instead of relying solely on tobacco. This helped to stabilize and grow the southern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Wal Mart Vs. K Mart Wal Mart vs. K Mart Introduction of the Wal Mart Company A megacorporation with sales that consistently rank it as the number one or number two publicly traded company in the United States and in the world, Wal Mart has impacted wage rates, prices, and economies on a local, national, and global scale. It is arguably the world s most important privately controlled economic institution. It not only has no rivals, it actually influences the prices set by its suppliers and has often seemed impervious to challenge, let alone accountability (Fishman 6). A company focused on the motto Save Money, Live Better, Wal Mart must be doing something right. According to Doug McMillon, CEO and President of the Wal Mart Stores, Inc., Under this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all began in his late 20s, having no background knowledge in retailing at all, as he opened up his very first variety store entitled Walton s Five and Dime. It was right then and there that Walton began to offer low prices compared to the other businesses in the local area. His idea of offering low prices surprisingly worked and he soon found himself venturing out and purchasing 15 variety stores all located around the central area by 1960. Everyone in town thought Sam was nuts for taking such a serious risk on drastically cutting back prices, but Sam never felt the least bit worried about his strategy. In 1962, the first Wal Mart opened its doors, along with two other well known discounting chains, K Mart and Woolco. Sam stood his ground and before he knew it 18 Wal Marts were officially up and operating smoothly and successfully in two states. The rest is simply history. Wal Mart s Corporate Culture Every successful business or company must have developed a strong corporate culture in order to be successful in what they do. In Wal Mart s case, profit is the goal, but service is the process ( Corporate Culture 20). While Wal Mart began as a discounted variety store, the company has transformed into having Wal Mart Supercenters, Wal Mart Neighborhood Markets, and Sam s Clubs across the world. • 7. Correlation Between Earnings And Share Prices Essay Question 1 The diagram illustrates the studies by Beaver, Clarke and Wright (1979) and Foster, Olsen and Shevlin (1984). The studies are based on the Ball Brown study regarding the relationship between earnings and share prices. This diagram shows that the size and sign of unexpected Earnings per Share (EPS) is related to the sign and size of cumulative Abnormal Return (AR). The graph represents the portfolio in ranking order based on the forecast error and EPS. There are 10 portfolios in which the first portfolio has the most negative forecast error and EPS while the tenth portfolio has the most positive forecast error and EPS. This means that Portfolio 1 is the worst performing firm in regarding the earnings (most negative share price reaction) while Portfolio 10 is the best performing firm (most positive share price reaction). Based on the fourth and fifth portfolio, the share reaction is very small. The negative abnormal return in portfolio 4 is pretty much negligible and the same can be said in portfolio 5 where there is only a slight positive share price reaction. This is due to the fact that the information is not too much of a surprise for the shareholders to react hugely. Therefore, it can be said that from portfolio 1 to 4, they are the bad news firms while portfolio 5 to 10 are the good news firms. In conclusion, the hypothesis made by the studies is proven to be correct. The firm with the most negative forecast error and EPS has the most negative AR and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Old Timer My definition of old timer would be someone in their 70s.80s. So I would take the age at which Mr. Old Timer was raising his children, which was apparently when he would have been at the age to determine respectfulness of his own children. Let s say 25 years old. That generation would have had multiple children by then. If he was born in 1940, he would have been 25 years old in 1965. I would take data from his geographic area from the years 1965 and 2010. Each group would have 20 people who were under the age of twenty years old in each of the two years. They would be interviewed on criminal record, juvenile record, level of education, drug use or history of, and perceived life satisfactions during childhood, as well as parenting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The outcome then depends on the data and information collected. While testing a hypothesis, the researcher might commit type 1 or type 2 error because either the null hypothesis or alternative hypothesis is rejected when it is true. Rejecting of the null hypothesis will result in type 1 error; and alternative hypothesis in type 2 error. It is therefore important to allow room for possibility of committing either of these errors as no study is perfect (Chang, 2011). Hypothesis I will formulate is How does the level of parental involvement in children s lives affect the amount of respect given and trouble caused in the past vs now. To test this hypothesis, I would conduct a study of an acceptable sample size from a population that best describes my study. I would then conduct a survey on a group of parents from a decade to two decades ago and now; asking them questions regarding their involvement with their child and the amount of respect given to them from their children and how much troubled they caused. After the collection of my data and my results are recorded, a statistical test should be done to determine whether the difference between the parental involvements from a decade to two decades ago versus the involvement now is affecting the amount of respect given and trouble caused by their kids, and if is ... • 9. The Marriage Process in Turkish Culture The Marriage Process In Turkish Culture The United States is a country, founded on freedom, immersed with immigrants hoping to secure their independence and reconstruct their lives. The United States, unlike many other countries, is made up entirely of different cultures and ethnic groups. This country is home to many middle eastern citizens, with a great majority of Turkish Americans. According to the Embassy of the United States, there are currently 500,000 Americans with Turkic descent (TMPFA). The existence of Turkish families in the country is a positive one as their talent, creativity and hard work strengthens our nation. The struggle of these people to adjust to American society can be demanding, but many Turkish people choose to carry on their family traditions. The aim of this paper is to analyze the partner selection, engagement process and wedding ceremonies of Turkish couples within the United States. The partner selection in Turkish culture customarily requires acceptance by both families, along with incorporation of traditional gender roles and courtship. Family acceptance of the unmarried couples is of high importance to Turkish culture. It is expected that a prospective single marry within their social class and religion. Marriage within the same social class is necessary because of the separation seen in Turkey. Turkey is very unlike the United States in the sense that there is a very large social gap between the rich and poor, with a very small middle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Gun Control And The Gun Laws [Title Here, up to 12 Words, on One to Two Lines] Introduction Last year, then Republican candidate Carly Fiorina claimed that states with strict gun laws had the highest gun crime rate in the nation (Robertson, 2015). The following month, President Barack Obama stated that states with stricter gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths (Robertson, 2015). The West might have been won with a Smith Wesson, but in our modern society guns are the subject of much debate. While some groups push for fewer guns and more gun control, others insist that increased gun control leads to increased crime. Both sides cite statistics in support of their views, yet experts who have reviewed the same data have concluded that the data is inconclusive. The contenders on both sides don t ever address the other factors that contribute to crime, such as poverty, racial tensions, a strained and overworked police force, and the deterioration of family social structure. As a nation, we need to move beyond the never ending debate over gun control. We need to work out a compromise that will help law enforcement put a stop to these terrible mass shootings while preserving Second Amendment rights. History The first modern American gun control law was the National Firearm Act of 1934. It was passed in an effort to curb mass shooting of that time (The Washington Post, 2012). This law was followed by the National Firearms Act of 1938, the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, the Brady ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Sustainability Is Not Green What is sustainability? In contemporary design, sustainability is a furious warrior under a green coat. People usually attribute sustainability with the color green, essence of nature or love and care for mother earth. In the context of construction, this means placing plants in buildings, installing green roofs and use local construction materials. Sustainability is much more than a green coat concept draped over buildings. Sustainability is strong, a courageous idea that would change the future. To sustain is to withstand and endure without giving away. A sustainable civilization should not empty natural resources and endanger the environment. To sustain is ...to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Preservation runs parallel with the concept of sustainability. To sustain is to preserve the current. To Sustain is to discard the idea of wastefulness. Concern about the environment and preservation of natural resource had become a heated debate among citizens, designers, and politics. United States alone uses a significant among of world s energy and produces a great amount of greenhouse gas. According to U.S. Department of Energy s EIA for 2007, commercial and residential buildings consume about 40 percent of the energy usage in the United States. Football, soccer, and wrestling are a more physical contact sport than cheerleading, gymnastics or volleyball are. Peers is also another part for socialization because the way boys or girls act around each other. Children follow by example, so if they see their friends doing something, they will most likely follow. As children get older, peers plays a bigger part in influencing children to act a certain way according to society and other peers. Lastly, the media is additionally has a huge impression on how kids should act and look. • 23. Evaluation Of A Universal Design For Learning When it comes to education, it is important to determine what method of content delivery is going to be the most effective for each individual class. Furthermore, it becomes increasingly important to determine the most effective strategies for each individual student. Within the concept of a universal design for learning (UDL), it becomes important to ensure that students have more than just access to information: Non educators often make the mistake of equating access to information with access to learning (Rose Meyer 2002). With UDL, students not only have access to information, but they are enable through the access to learning. This can be manifested in a number of ways, but is characterized by the availability of environments that promote learning and education that promotes learning. UDL then becomes the method for which educators provide students with a variety of methods to engage cognition, and allow for educators to meet the needs of diverse learners. Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners by Implementing UDL Developing a curriculum is a difficult process, moreso when an educator has to keep in mind the number of students they are trying to reach. At the secondary level, it is not uncommon for a teacher to be responsible for 150 or more students. By the end of the Inquisition there was an estimated 90,000 witch trials occur with an estimated 50% of them resulting in executions (Levack, The Witch Hunt in Early Modern Europe 1987, 2006, 23). So what dramatic turn did Europe take during the Inquisition? In the late sixteenth century the great witch hunt was beginning, and this was fueled by the European elites believing that witches were actively harming their neighbors and conspiring with the Devil against the Catholic Church. By the middle of the sixteenth century the profile of the witch was well known and the educated European began to believe in witches (Levack, The Witch Hunt in Early Modern Europe 1987, 2006, 30). What these elite Europeans specifically believed about witches was that they had created personal pacts with the Devil in exchange for the powers that they obtained. The places where these pacts were formed were called the Sabbath (originating from the Jewish holy day), this is where men and women whom practiced witchcraft would gather secretly at night and have relations with the Devil, demons and each other (Levack, The Witch Hunt in Early Modern Europe 1987, 2006, 40 45).
