Types of Policing
Policing is to regulate, control, or keep in order with a law enforcement agency or other official group.
It is a job done every minute of every hour of everyday by men and women willing to risk their health
and life. To make the job easier different styles or types of policing methods have been developed.
Some of the most influential types of policing include community oriented policing, problem oriented
policing and intelligence led policing. Community oriented policing or community policing, is a
policing strategy that focuses on working closely with and building ties with members of the
community. Community policing involves the use of partnerships between municipal agencies,
businesses, individual citizens, non profit groups and the media in order to develop methods to police
the community. It requires police to take a proactive approach to address public safety concerns.
Community policing covers a variety of philosophical and practical approaches and is still evolving
rapidly. Community policing strategies vary depending on the needs and responses of the communities
involved; however, certain basic principles and considerations are common to all community policing
efforts. Today s community policing has its origins in the 1960s. The 1960s saw its fair share of urban
riots and gang activity. Police often responded to these criminal actions with brute force, and the

Mythological Norms By Audre Lorde
The concept of mythical norm was introduced by a feminist writer, Audre Lorde, who critically
analyzed the dominant power mechanism in society that operates through a deeply ingrained idea of a
normalized and naturalized male identity. This normative identity is both an image and ideal that
stands out as a symbol of societal norms and privileges that are institutionalized in the law. More
specifically, Lorde wrote, Somewhere, on the edge of consciousness, there is what I call a mythical
norm, which each of us within our hearts knows that is not me. ... [T]his norm is usually defined as
white, thin, male, young, heterosexual, Christian and financially secure. It is with this mythical norm
that the trappings of power reside within this society. (as cited in Perry, 2011, p. 57) Even though
Lorde positions this identity norm at the edge of consciousness, the norm seems to be at the center of
the dominant societal myths about privilege and its discourses of law. As the particular male centric
vision of power, the mythical norm functions as a regulating and governing social site and system of
privileges through which unearned advantages are naturally attributed to all members of the identity
norm without their own efforts and contributions (Perry, 2011, p. 57). Consequently, this normative
category of men receives some of the main social, political and economic benefits by the virtue of
their belonging to the aforementioned identity group. Furthermore, the

William Butler Yeats And A Portrait Of The Artist As A...
Sailing to Byzantium by William Butler Yeats and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James
Joyce both follow the lives of a character that struggles to fit into society and because of this apparent
disconnection between themselves and the rest of the culture and society they come from they are
ostracized and distance themselves from the regular norms and values of society. The motive for both
main characters to exile themselves and separate from the rest of society is apparent in their distaste
for the materialistic and loves for art. They use art as an instrument to better themselves and gain
deeper understanding about the meaning of life. In Yeats poem Sailing to Byzantium the narrator
leaves his home country of Dodge on a sailing journey to the country Byzantium, which is near by in
proximity to his home country but very different in its societal beliefs and norms because it is
considered a holy city. The narrator describes Dodge as a place where the young and beautiful can
strive and live happily, but once that beauty begins to fade with age it turns into a very different place.
His discontent with the country and people who represent these shallow views is apparent from
different lines of dialogue from the narrator and he heads to Byzantium to find more meaning and
happiness in life. The narrator decides that Dodge is a place for shallow people because they embrace
only the newest trends and whatever is pretty or aesthetically pleasing. The people of Dodge have

The Solid Waste Management Strategy For Metro Manila Essay
This report will discuss the solid waste management strategy for Metropolitan Manila, Philippines.
This strategy prioritises disposal reduction through waste reduction, monitoring, collection,
transferring, recycling, and composting.
Waste is a term in the law of real property to describe a cause of action that can be brought in court to
address a change in condition of real property brought by a current tenant that damages or destroys the
value of that property.
The disposal of solid waste is a problem. This problem continues to grow with the growth of
population and development of industries. Disposal of waste in open pits has become routine in
majority of places.
Solid waste generation is an unavoidable consequence of production and consumption activities in any
economy. It is positively related to the level of income and urbanization, with higher income and more
urbanized economies generating higher levels of solid wastes per capita. Metropolitan cities in
developing countries are usually surrounded with solid waste management related problems such as
flooding, uncollected garbage and inadequate or inappropriate disposal sites.
Based on the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) study, only about 73% of the 5,250 metric
tons of waste generated daily are collected by 2000 dump trucks hired by our respective local
government units. The remaining 27% of our daily waste or about 1,417.5 metric tons end up in
canals, vacant spaces, street corners, market places, rivers

Cultural Impacts of the Civil Rights Act
Abstract
Cultural Impacts of the Civil Rights Act Until the eighteenth century Civil Rights and Liberty s were
taken advantage of as a American. Observation in our judicial system cited within the paper suggest
that our civil rights in America has improved and continue to evolve to this day. Cultural Impacts of
American Civil Rights laws In recent years, a great deal has gone into fair treatment of all. As history

This doesn t always happen in all cases as it should. In march 2006 a Queens Midtown Tunnel
employee by the name of Gregory fisherman filed a compliant against his boss. He complained
because his boss denied him of promotion and penalized him for taking sick days because he is
Jewish(Lawsuit financial corp,2009). He proved his case by hearing his supervisor use a curse word
before they called him a jew which was his basis for claim. By getting that 51% of the jury to believe
Mr. Fisherman, he was awarded $735,000. In another case, a restaurant called Sorrano s Mexican
Restaurant was sued in 2002 by Terra Neave(manager)for not accommodating to religious belief. She
led a bible study after work and two of her subordinates attended. According to company policy
manager are not suppose to socialize with subordinates,to prevent sexual harassment. The company
offered to transfer her to another location, she refused and continued to lead bible study with her
subordinates. With this type of substantial evidence she lost the case. In these two cases our rights
were upheld and justice was served according to our civil rights laws(Luci Scott, Jan 2009).

Profile of your Conversation Partner s Communication
What are the features of your CP s communication? Consider how they express themselves (think
about verbal and non verbal means).
JR has mild, fluent, anomic aphasia. People with fluent aphasia have difficulties understanding spoken
and written language, but expression is mostly within normal limits (Robb, 2014). JR has difficulties
naming certain words, often nouns. For example, she was having trouble naming Riverstone , a
restaurant, so instead she said Dot s (the owner) place near the Waitaki River . She mainly
communicates verbally, but is not afraid to show us something using her body if she cannot express
what she would like using words. For example, she has an oddly shaped ball in her living room which

Sometimes before our visit, JR and JM (the other CP in our group) work with fourth year Speech and
Language students. Some of this work involves reading from a book, and then they answer questions
about the book or review the plot and features of the novel. This seems to tire them out, as they do not
take much of a break before our visit (the break is normally only around five minutes, the time it takes
for them to pack up from their previous session). They are normally fine for the first 45 minutes and
show no signs of fatigue, but by the end of the hour it is always evident that they are tired and would
like to end the visit. On the sessions where they don t have the fourth years visit, or have not had
another session before us, their communication ability is consistent. When we had our reflection after
the first term, we decided that forty minute visits might be more productive. With a tighter structure of
visits, we could have better discussions and ensure all the time we used was useful. This also meant
that JR and JM will not as exhausted after our visits and have more positive

Liberalism And Human Rights Essay
within the confinements of liberalism and with respect to traditional human rights, however, the
central governments have managed to bypass the creed of liberalism and human rights. 2) Redrawing
the boundaries, or reducing the powers, of internal political subunits controlled by the national
minority; decisions on the boundaries and powers of internal political subunits. Some liberal
democratic states engaged in redrawing boundaries which are within the confinement of liberalism
and the liberal state, but encroaches the rights of national minorities. The central states draw
boundaries to disempower national minorities. For instance, a minority s territory are divided into
several units to make cohesive political action impossible. For example, the division of France into 83
departments after the Revolution, which intentionally subdivided the historical regions of the Basques,
Bretons, and other linguistic minorities; or the division of Catalonia region in Spain. 3) Language

adopted as official or de facto official language where it is used in government, bureaucracy, courts,
schools, and business. While there are exceptions to this many liberal democratic states allow for
multilingualism yet the policies related to language should be more robustly clarified within the
human rights creed of democratic liberalism. Because the human rights creed adopted by several

How Is Language Used In Animal Farm
Language can be used in many different ways. Its most powerful form is when it is used to control
others. The book we just finished in class, Animal Farm, which is an extended metaphor about the
events leading up to the Russian Revolution and on to the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. For
example, in Animal Farm, the pigs are always threatening the animals that Mr. Jones would come
back. Another example would be a Michelin Tires ad. This ad is saying that without these tires, you
are killing your baby. Language can be uplifting and powerful, but using language to control others,
holds more power. When you are controlled by fear, you are more likely to do want others want you to
do. In Animal Farm, the pigs threatened the rest of the animals

movie, Don Haskin struggles to build a good basketball team because no players want to play at a no

In the middle of the movie, Haskin s team is traveling to play in the NCAA tournament. At the airport,
he is stopped by a reporter and he asks why he is playing so many African American players. He says,
you re playing a lot of color boys, are you concern whether the Negro players can handle the pressure
at the national level? The reporter is implying how a team with mostly only African American players
can t win the championship. In addition, he asked if they are smart enough to handle the mental strain
they ll face in the tournament. Haskin looks displease when the reporter asked him this question. He
answered this question, saying his team is just the same as any other team in the league. By asking the
question if the African American can handle at the national level, demonstrates they are not smart
enough to handle the mental strains. The African American athletes were only shown for their
physique because they were only capable of playing great basketball. Coach Haskin didn t care if they
were smart, he was determined to win the championship and wanted raw talents. The African
American were tools to win the championship. The interviewer may see them as physically fit, but not
mentally strong to handle the tournament.

Analysis Of Suicide In The Trenches
Suicide in the Trenches
War, a slaughter of men that has gone on for hundreds thousands of years. One of the most gruesome
wars was WW1 which lasted for 4 years, 28 Jul. 1914 11 Nov. 1918. In this devastating war, the total
number of casualties includes about 11 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. Many
of those soldiers were young men. The poem Suicide in the trenches written by Siegfried Sassoon tells
what the harsh trenches had being like and how many soldiers became depressed. Sassoon was an
officer who earned a military cross after carrying a wounded solider through enemy s crossfire. He
fought in many battles till 1917 where he would then have to leave the war due to Shellshock. Sassoon
criticized the political leaders who sent young men off to die in huge battles that seemed pointless and
while Sassoon was in Hospital he opposed the war by writing many poems including Does it Matter ,
The Hero and arguably the most tragic poem, Suicide in the Trenches .
SUICIDE IN THE TRENCHES
By Siegfried Sassoon
I knew a simple soldier boy
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
No one spoke of him again.
You smug faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you ll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Obsession In Zadie Smith s The Girl With Bangs
The Girl with Bangs is a short story, written by Zadie Smith, that uses many literary element to
collectively convey a general theme to the reader. This interesting story uses stereotypes, irony, and
foreshadowing to express the theme of obsession. Zadie Smith was born Sadie Smith, but changed her
name because that is what felt right. Zadie was born on October 27, 1975 to a Jamaican mother and an
English father. Zadie is a popular author and is known for speaking out of the norm. She writes about

relationship with her and is blind by her love to Charlotte. However, once Maurice returns from
Thailand, and the two go to Charlotte s room to talk, someone else was putting his fingers through her

supposed to be loyal to Maurice. All throughout the affair, Charlotte was having another affair with a
third man and had no remorse for either of them. Neither Maurice nor the narrator has any idea of the

Factors That Affect Overweight And Obesity
4) Genes
Genes play a major role in overweight and obesity. It does not necessarily have to be a single gene that
can cause overweight, but a multiple of them can play that role. Some people who get overweight
have inherited the problem from their parents. The improvement in quantitative genetics and genomics
has helped in understanding the relationship between genetics and overweight better. Conditions of
overweight and obesity usually occur within a certain family. Some families had a history of
overweight and obesity since a long time ago and the genes are passed from generation to generation
within the members of these families. For a person from a family with a history of overweight or
obesity, the risk of him/her getting overweight or obese, twice to eighth higher than a person from a
family with no such history. The inheritance of obesity varies depending on the phenotype. For
phenotypes connected to adipose tissue distribution (40 percent to 55 percent) and for excess body fat
(5 percent to 40 percent) (Research chair in obesity, n.d.).
A research was carried out by an International research partnership with over two hundred researchers
to identify the genetic causes of overweight and obesity. The research was carried out on over 260000
people. There are over 50 loci in the human genome that affect the dangers of overweight. They found
seven new other sites on the man s genome where small differences in the genes affect the dangers of
obesity and overweight. During

Reflection In My Life
Over the course of this semester me and our group success have participated in a variety of activities
coordinated by the Counselor Mrs. Warren which touch on topics oriented around college, careers, and
ourselves as people. These activities taught us life skills that we can apply in our life. For example,
some of the activities included learning to do or determine our SMART goals, long term goals,
skills/strengths, values and making decisions based on them, pathways to our potential
career/education. Therefore, what we learned as a group with Mrs. Warren was how to apply those life
skills taught in everyday life, How we would reach point A to point B, and learn more about ourselves
as people.
Throughout my life I have always felt like I knew myself, but until recently I have never, truly known
myself. These traits are one of my utmost important values to me in the sense that they are what I do
my best to live by them. My five main values are creativity, compassion, empathy, love, and wisdom. I
value creativity since through that I am able to express myself. Compassion is important to me being
that I cannot be a bystander and forsake the people suffering or the guilt would eat me alive, knowing
I could have done something to help. Most of my life I have empathized with people, putting myself
in their shoes and feeling their emotions, so that Is why empathy is one of my core values in view of

Comparing Sleepy Hollow and The Legend of the Sleepy...
Comparing Sleepy Hollow and The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow
Over time, a change has occurred from the typical horror story to a violent and bloody legend. The
original short story The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow is an example of a simple, yet mysterious fable
in which Ichabod Crane acts as the protagonist. Ichabod becomes the victim of the feared headless
horseman after believing the superstitious tales of this spirit preying in the night. The film that is
supposedly based upon the tale provides a deceiving, yet compelling title of Sleepy Hollow, as one
might assume that the film is a reenactment of the short story. The film and original tale differ in that
the film has blood, gore and controversy while the story depicts a ... Show more content on

The townspeople looked upon Ichabod as a foreigner and responded with opposition to his notions.
For example, almost immediately upon his arrival, he took a dead corpse and performed an autopsy,
something that was unheard of during this time period. He remained dedicated to his work, but had a
hostile, almost mysterious way about him.
Why is Ichabod portrayed so different in film than in script? The answer ultimately lies in society.
After watching twisted and bloody horror films, society gets hungry for something more intense, more
mysterious and unpredictable, with all of the blood and gore mixed in . People get used to watching
ordinary kidnappings and murders and wish for a more intense approach. This is why the original
Ichabod character was not portrayed the exact same on film as he was on paper. The entertainment
industry tries to keep up with this demand of society and gives to the people exactly what they are
asking for: A film based upon a familiar classic tale, but twisted with mystery, confusion and massive
amounts of violence.
Katrina Van Tassel was the girl Ichabod fell in love with in the story. She was described as a
blossoming lass of eighteen; plump as a partridge; ripe and melting and rosy cheeked She was the girl
that all of the young men were fond of. In the story she does not play an important part; she is mainly
known for her flirtatiousness toward the men around her and for being a wealthy, spoiled farmer s
daughter. But,

But when Vespasian, in the course of his general triumph, restored stable government to Britain...
(Tacitus, p.68)
As well as being a strong source of information about political life during this time, the novel also
catalogues the struggles faced before and after marriage by Vespasians mistress, the freedwoman
Caenis. Their forbidden relationship is threatened as Vespasian reaches the height of his political
career. Caenis was but a footnote mentioned in history which Davies has sanctified into a wonder
woman without whom Vespasians career could not have possibly succeeded. This obvious
glorification of a story is an example of a bias used to make a tale more interesting, and the lack of
historical sources commenting on Caenis only proves that she is nowhere near as important as Davis
makes her out to be. Regardless, this novel achieves its aim as an interesting secondary source of
information on Imperial Rome from two totally different perspectives that of a slave and freedwoman,
and that of an emperor. It showcases very suitably both the social and political struggles which are
faced in upkeeping this unlikely relationship.
There are different viewpoints on the way slaves were treated in Imperial Rome. Caenis in the story is
first portrayed as a faithful and respectful slave, claiming I know how to keep my mouth shut, any
sensible slave does! (Davies, p.17) This restricted form of life is backed up by this quote by a primary

How Is Napoleon Bonaparte A Hero
Napoleon Bonaparte was the French leader in the late 1700s. He is known as an intelligent and clever
military leader. He went to military school at the age of nine, and finished school at the age of 16
eventually becoming a lieutenant in the artillery. Napoleon Bonaparte had many successes and
failures, however his failures overpowered his successes which makes him a tyrant. While leading he
went into many wars and lost many soldiers. By the end many people were not on his side and many
did not believe in what he was doing as the leader of France, therefore making him a villain for
France. Napoleon Bonaparte had many weaknesses as a leader which caused him to have many
defeats. The Directory selected Napoleon to lead the French army in 1796 and this is what got him
started leading France and the people. To defend French trade Napoleon took his army to Europe and
the British army trapped Napoleon and his army. Napoleon manipulated the people by keeping what
had happened out of the news so that he could be known as a great hero to the French people. If he did

The Impact of Housing Benefits on Pregnant Teenagers
The Impacts of Housing Benefits on Pregnant Teenagers Abstract: UK Benefits System is responsible
for providing many deserving groups with financial and material support. As such we consider the
various factors that create beneficial opportunities for individuals. We delve into the specific case of
pregnant teenagers who make for a particularly deserving group with regards to their special
circumstances. Housing benefits are generally considered and their obvious socio economic impacts
are recognized. Public Services in most developed countries are targeted towards making lives
convenient and hence productive. It is safe to say that a comfortable and secure life promises to be a
socially and economically prolific life. With regard to this, the United Kingdom has successfully
structured a social security system that aims to manage government expenditure and efficient welfare
provision with respect to credible claimants. The UK Benefit System is concentrated towards a
number of deserving groups such as the unemployed, senior citizenry, disabled individuals,
chronically sick individuals or bereaved claimants. (Emmerson Leicester, 2002) The basic aim of this
endeavor is to make lives of British citizens contented enough to ensure a valid level of national
contribution and of course give back to the needy. Not only will this help them become more
illustrious people but will also go on to pull them out of the unforgiving vortex of vicious poverty.

searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to
abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less
modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision
After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people
are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a
calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that,
Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue
for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of
civilization in his tropical landscapes. While Van Gogh does feature aspects of modernity in his

Is Chivalry Dead Research Paper
The question many people ask is chivalry dead? I believe it depends on where you grew up as in the
household you were raised in. This goes for men and women. Many times I have had a bad experience
with men not having chivalry. It is also the way someone may come off to you is the way you might
perceive them. In the art of courtly love there are many things that are not how they used to be and
some that are the same. In my personal experience I have seen the nothing forbids one woman being
loved by two men or one man by two women. I believe that is true just because someone is in love
doesn t mean someone can be in love with someone else or someone love someone just the same.
Everyone will always have a different opinion, my personal one is

The R Assessment Is An Early Childhood Environment Rating...
The ECERS R assessment is an early childhood environment rating scale that assesses group
programs serving children ages two through five. The assessment incorporates seven categories that
focus on the various interactions that take place within a classroom setting. They include interactions
with environment, teachers, parents, and other children. The ECERS R emphasizes the inclusion of
children with disabilities and cultural diversity. For this assessment, the chosen facility is the
Cornerstone Center for Early Learning. This facility serves children six weeks to five years old, but in
this assessment, the designated classroom only included children ages three to five. The funding for
this facility includes a mixture of parent contribution and three government programs that include
USDA, Head Start, and State Tuition Assistance. Cornerstone is a private facility due to its tuition
costs and parent contribution. The teaching philosophy of this facility is to enhance the potential of
each child through a higher level of care. After completing the assessment, a predetermined formula
calculated a final score for each subunit. The category on Space and Furnishings received a final score
of 6.13, due to the facilities well organized and usable spaces. This category received high marks on
most of the subunits. One strength within this section includes the warm and inviting classroom, along
with its designated spaces. The classroom included areas for reading, blocks, art,

God s Spirits Of Lust
Human Sacrifices
Satan s spirits of lust emerge in the pagan gods Baal, Molech, and Chemosh that are all mentioned in
the Bible; specifically, their practices often included distorted sexual acts, human sacrifices,
cannibalism, and the eating of blood that were distinctively traits of devil worship. Baal worship
became abundant throughout much of the ancient Middle East; concurrently, in early societies Baal
has a long history of perverted sex that is akin to Pan Worship within his cult rituals. Mount Hermon
turned out to be one of the major centers of Baal/Pan worship that involved the brutality of human
sacrifices. Baal obtained other god s identity, such as the horned Molech; well known for child
sacrifices. The various names and epithets of Baal occurring in the Old Testament and elsewhere were
derived from his various aspects and the localities of his worship. For the majority of people, the
cruelty of tormenting and murdering children becomes too devastating, believing that it just could not
have happened. On the contrary, the Bible s staunch position states numerous times concerning these
killings, and references how the Israelites served the idols of the heathen.
In 1870, Sir Charles Warren happened to be exploring in the Lebanon region on the summit of Mount
Hermon and found the ruins of a temple believed to belong to Baal. Similarly, this could be relevant to
the Bible s stating they ...destroy all their molten

Essay On 3d Density
The most important goal in gravity interpretation is producing a 3D and clear image of anomaly
resources. One versatile theory for achieving this picture is 3D density contrast distribution from
gravity data. However, we face to uniqueness for solving these inversion problems. For resolving this
issue, an interpreter has to decrees the geometry resolution of an anomaly.
For example, using the Tikhonov regularization (Tikhonov and Arsenian, 1977) has led to the unique
and stable solution, but regardless of producing blur image of an anomaly, this method is focused on
mass varying on the boundary of interpretation region and does not consider the actual depth of
anomaly.
Also, a compact inversion method was presented by Last and ... Show more content on

By this way, Ardestani and Nejati (2011) achieve better image for the 3 D density contrast distribution.
In this paper, to clarify the anomaly, we improve the precision of inversion result, in minimum inertia;
in Ardestani and Nejati (2011) algorithm by
In order to avoid nonuniqueness in inversion, they add some constraints such as geometrical properties
and prior density contrast which are provided by geological information of the studied region. But, in
some areas with complicated geology, it is difficult to trust this information and sometimes may lead
to losing the inversion.
To overcomes these possible problems, we use a linear multiple regression on different models of
improved circular cylinder (Su et al., 2012) to provide prior information in Ardestani and Nejati
(2011) algorithm. Our inversion algorithm is less dependent on geological information and more
flexible with prior information.
In the following, we define the outline of this paper. In section 2, we explain about the method for
constructing the gravity anomaly by using a grid of 3 D rectangular prisms. In section 3, the Lewi
inversion algorithm is discussed, also it is extended with the minimum momentum inertia. In section
4, we introduced the linear inversion based on the inclined cylinder for providing our prior
information. In section 5, the synthetic examples are used to illustrate the results of our inversion
procedure. In section 6, this method is applied to the mining deposits

Small Open Economy Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium...
In this paper we present a variant of the Small Open Economy Dynamic Stochastic General
Equilibrium Model (SOE DSGE) and empirically validate it using quarterly data for Sri Lanka
(1999Q1 2013Q4). The SOE DSGE model incorporates low exchange rate pass through dynamics and
thereby departs in a significant manner from the canonical closed economy New Keynesian DSGE
model which has become the work horse of monetary policy design by modern central banks. The
empirical validation of the SOE DSGE model in the paper using Bayesian estimation techniques
provides insights that would enable the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to advance its reform agenda to
transition from the current monetary targeting framework to a flexible inflation targeting framework in
the medium term.
The model presented herein can be extended evaluate the welfare implications of alternative monetary
policy regimes and make out of sample inflation forecasts to get a handle on the type of policy
adjustments that should be undertaken to design a monetary policy stance to achieve a predetermined
stabilization target.

Taking a Look at Joe Flacco
A professional sport is a sport in which the players get paid to play and gets drafted from either
college or high school. A professional sport is that player s job and they are the best of the best, like
Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens Quarterback (NFL)). Joe Flacco was born Joseph Vincent Joe Flacco in
Audubon, New Jersey on January 16, 1985. He was born to Karen and Steve Flacco and is of Irish and
Italian descent. He played football, baseball and basketball at Audubon High School and was the
starting quarterback. Flacco was listed as No. 39 among quarterback prospects in the class of 2003.
Flacco s college career started in Pittsburgh where he was redshirted for a team that went 8 5. In 2004,
he became the backup quarterback that limited his playing time behind starter Tyler Palko. He only
played in three games against Ohio, Nebraska, and South Florida. He finished the season with one
completion for 11 yards. At Delaware Flacco saw his first full time action in the 2006 season. He
threw for 2,783 yards, and 18 touchdowns with 10 interceptions and Delaware struggled to a 5 6
record. They missed the FCS Playoffs. In the 2007 season he led his team to an 8 3 regular season
record and had 4,263 yards, 23 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Flacco set 20 school records during
his career at Delaware. In early September 2009, a 20 by 30 foot poster of Flacco was added to the
Delaware Stadium. While at Delaware, Flacco was negative about his chances to play in the

Newsies. Newsies is a phenomenal Broadway production. Fun fact it was released as The News Boys

Kenny Ortega. Newsies is based loosely on the New York City Newsboy Strike of 1899, and features
twelve original songs from composers Alan Menken and J.A.C Redford. The stars are Christian Bale,
David Moscow, Bill Pullman, Robert Duvall, and Ann Margret. Another fact is it was the first

Compare The Gambling Environment
When considering the proliferation of gambling advertising it is important to compare the gambling
environment established before deregulation and the extent to which it has changed post deregulation.
The problems affiliated with gambling are not a new phenomenon, as such considerable research has
been done to mitigate and control the derived negatives (Eadington, 2012). Applying age restrictions,
promoting easily accessible helplines for those with a problem, self exclusion programs and limiting
access to gambling have met with success and led credence to the belief that gambling is no longer a
focus for criminal activity or a form of glamorous extravagance (Delfabbro, 2011). However since the

Union University Art Gallery Analysis
Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists galleries throughout the year, for
free and open to the public. Currently on display is Hodgepodge , a collection of about ten canvases
by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time
(his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013 2016. All of
the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to
say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly bright ), but the colors were
all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism.
Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of
being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in
unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not cause me to personally
feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene
in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half visible along the bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver

Throughout time, the world and its history has seen the ravages of a superiority complex based upon a
certain race or religion deeming themselves better than everyone else. No one war, race or religion has
ever come out on top nor has anyone been entirely unaffected by the oppression this superiority
complex has caused.
Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman conversing with
and recording what his father says about what he lived through being a Polish Jew and Holocaust

Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while Washington was treated
unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote about what happened and how they chose to rise
above their persecution and the injustice of how they are being treated instead of being walked all
over. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so
everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi brutality towards
the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them like animals. They strip
them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and
then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about
something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors
use their past experiences to show how racism and religious persecution affect a person long after the
fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through several different time periods: the pre Holocaust,
the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust. Maus interweaves the past and present, the different
subject histories of each character, and the very different cultural contexts of a Nazi occupied Poland

Too Big For Britches Essay
Due to strong usage; idiomatic expressions have infiltrated people s daily conversations. One certain
idiomatic expression that is popular, primarily in the southern region of the United States, is (they) are
too big for their britches or too big for one s britches. This is a common slang or idiomatic expression
that can fit into a physical context or even fit into southern cultural groups. The idiom is also
renowned throughout history and notable history contributors who used the expression. The meaning
behind idiomatic expressions is to get an exaggerated or ironic point across in order to express a
feeling or thought that cannot be expressed and lived literally. Like the saying too big for your britches

The only way a person who is not completely familiar with the idiomatic expression does not use the
joke correctly is if they are unfamiliar with what it means. In some cases, though users who are
familiar with it may use the expression in a similar way but not exactly equal to the situations with
conceited people. There may be a bystander who is trying to hook up (this is also an idiomatic
expression) with some a random bystander who is much more attractive but then gets rejected.
Someone who may have witnessed the situation may say that the person being rejected was being too
big for his britches . This is a form of changing context situation in order for the idiom to fit in place.
Southern people in particular like to manipulate the meaning slightly so that its usage can be expanded
to different situations. Other than that change there is no prominent change or context meaning within
the joke. It has remained that way since the early 1800 s and will more than likely stay that way as

Different Components of the Scada Energy Management System
SCADA EMS This report covers the real time system design and the different components of the
SCADA Energy Management System. Specifically, this report will focus on the General Electric
XA/21 SCADA system and how it all fits together and how it provides a solution to end users and
administrators. The XA/21 is a very scalable and customizable system and that will be described at
great length in this report (General Electric, 2013). System Basics As noted in the introduction, the
scalability and customizing of the XA/21 system is very flexible. There can be anywhere from one to
150 different computing nodes. The system has been installed more than 100 times and there has been
3.5 million hours of online operation. GE states that the system can be flexible enough to evolve and
be changed based on changing regulatory demands and changing market conditions. The total cost of
ownership is purported to be quite low. The system can be set up using a variety of different operating
systems and programming languages ranging from the modern iterations to the much more dated
technologies and languages (General Electric, 2013). The operating systems and programming
technologies that can be used include UNIX, Microsoft Windows, ODBC, POSIX, Structured Query

cut into personal time, and keep you up at night. However, humans have individual needs and
monophasic sleep is not for everyone; sleep inertia can easily be avoided, and strategically planning a
nap will prevent adjustments to your personal time and night time sleep schedule. The key to reaping
the rewards of an afternoon nap is knowing your body and understanding your needs. Adults are
capable of this. There are reasons why a monophasic sleep pattern of about seven to nine hours is
effective for some people. A person who works a 9 to 5 job, sleeps throughout the night without

Television Is A Common Part Of Contemporary Society
The television is also a very important aspect of popular culture that affects the American Identity.
Watching television is such a common part of contemporary society, that most Americans adopted it as
a part of their daily routine and watch television for at least an hour a day. Stanley Crouch, a poet,
music and cultural critic, writes that whenever people pretentiously and proudly announce, I don t
watch television, they should follow it up with I don t look at America either (Masciotra 79).
Television has become a part of many people s lives. When the mass population watches the same TV
shows, movies, etc. they can all relate to each other, and thus unite them as an American. We look to

The internet has also been a key factor of popular culture that affects the American identity. Through
different social media applications and websites, the internet has broken down communication barriers
between different cultures in a way that was nearly impossible in the past. The internet has also
changed how Americans go through their daily lives. In the past people had to meet in person to meet
with each other and communicate. However, today people communicate with each other through the
variety of social media applications on their phones. Dating applications on devices have changed how
people build relationships. Nowadays, most people meet their spouses and friends through the
internet. Since America is very multicultural the internet has helped these cultures to share and
communicate with each other and create a more informed and understanding relationship between
different cultures. While America has been multicultural for so long it does have a history of racism
but the internet has helped break down some of these walls.
Another way of how the social media affects the American identity is through the food advertisements
online. When people order food online they also see food from other cultures, expand their knowledge

their advantageous characteristics such as lightweight, flexible, low toxicity and good performance in
diverse light conditions [2]. Usually DSSC s consists of dye adsorbed nanostructured metal oxide film
serving as a photoanode, a Pt coated counter electrode and liquid electrolyte injected between them

Thus, numbers of articles devoted to ZnO photoelectrode with the aim to enhance efficiency by
reducing the charge carrier recombination, and improving electrical/optical performance [9 12]. In this
regard, doping is the most advantageous approach to modify ZnO structures. Different kind of metals
such as lanthanum [13], aluminum [14], tin [15], magnesium [16] and titanium [17] has been widely
investigated as effective dopants in ZnO photoelectrode for improving the performance. Moreover,
earlier reports on the DSSC have proven that the active area is directly proportional to the power
conversion efficiency [18]. Therefore, we attempted to incorporate indium into ZnO to improve above
cited aspects with an ideal working area (0.25cm2) of photoanode in DSSC. Indium (In3+) was
chosen as dopant, because it has a noteworthy contribution in transparent conducting oxide materials

to their remarkable properties such as high electronegativity, minute native lattice distortion with
preferable chemical stability make indium as suitable donor than other elements for finding high

Question From previous studies there are misguided interpretations on the eruption duration and how

which follows a fixed set of time. The research questions that arises is; Does the eruption and waiting
time of the Old Faithful geyser follow a fixed set of time or is there a variation in the waiting time
with respect to the eruption time? 1.3 Research Methodology Data collection and sources; the data

originally in seconds. Of the variables the waiting time has been used as the response variable while
eruption time appears as the predictor variable. These means that waiting time is seen to be

the waiting period. This paper wishes to study the test that, under the null hypothesis, there is no

these legislations.
The Constitutional Law
For Home Depot this includes abiding by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter protects
the following rights of every Canadian, Freedom of conscience and religion, freedom of thought,
belief, opinion, and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication,
freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association. (Dessler et al., 2013, 29). Even though, the
regulations in the Charter are not employment specific, Home Depot must accept the laws set forth
because the laws protect rights to all Canadian citizens. In addition, this constitutional law takes
precedence over all other laws. Thus, Home Depot must conduct their business in total compliance
with the laws of the Charter. (Dessler et al., 2013, 29) This means the Charter impacts Home Depot s
code of ethics, policy, and employment contract because

The Marketing Plan For Panera Bread Co.
Steve Ellis, a trained chef opened the first Chipotle Mexican restaurant in 1933, which rapidly
increased to over 2,000 locations by 2016 creating the fast casual dining industry. According to the
article, fast casual dining was fluid, but one essential ingredient was price fast casual restaurants

Chipotle prepared all food on site, beginning with raw ingredients from responsibly sourced and
sustainable producers. According to the article, Chipotle had about 100 suppliers, most them small to
mid sized regional companies, not large national firms. It also sourced ingredients form local farms,
but these supplied no more than 12% of its fresh produce in 2015 (Walker and Merkley 3). These
suppliers were then approved and products were sold to third party distributors purchasing for
Chipotle.
In 2013, Chipotle was the first large American chain to identify genetically modified ingredients on its
menu and later in 2015 announced their use of non GMO foods. However, as Chipotle continued to
grow, sourcing of meat became a problem for them. They began saving conventionally raised beef and
later removed all pork carnitas rom their menus in 600 stores because the suppliers did not reach
Chipotle s standards. Replacing the supplier proved challenging it took more than six months to find a
supplier that raised pigs to Chipotle s standards but the company was lauded for its commitment to
humanely raised pork (Walker and Merkley 3).
Additionally, Chipotle offered a service model that could be easily personalized, allowing customers
to select their choices of ingredients and watch their meal prepared in an assembly style line. Chipotle

  • 2. Theories Of Crime Analysis Spring Marshawn Walker Theories of Crime Analysis Spring August 30, 2015 Types of Policing Policing is to regulate, control, or keep in order with a law enforcement agency or other official group. It is a job done every minute of every hour of everyday by men and women willing to risk their health and life. To make the job easier different styles or types of policing methods have been developed. Some of the most influential types of policing include community oriented policing, problem oriented policing and intelligence led policing. Community oriented policing or community policing, is a policing strategy that focuses on working closely with and building ties with members of the community. Community policing involves the use of partnerships between municipal agencies, businesses, individual citizens, non profit groups and the media in order to develop methods to police the community. It requires police to take a proactive approach to address public safety concerns. Community policing covers a variety of philosophical and practical approaches and is still evolving rapidly. Community policing strategies vary depending on the needs and responses of the communities involved; however, certain basic principles and considerations are common to all community policing efforts. Today s community policing has its origins in the 1960s. The 1960s saw its fair share of urban riots and gang activity. Police often responded to these criminal actions with brute force, and the ... • 3. Mythological Norms By Audre Lorde The concept of mythical norm was introduced by a feminist writer, Audre Lorde, who critically analyzed the dominant power mechanism in society that operates through a deeply ingrained idea of a normalized and naturalized male identity. This normative identity is both an image and ideal that stands out as a symbol of societal norms and privileges that are institutionalized in the law. More specifically, Lorde wrote, Somewhere, on the edge of consciousness, there is what I call a mythical norm, which each of us within our hearts knows that is not me. ... [T]his norm is usually defined as white, thin, male, young, heterosexual, Christian and financially secure. It is with this mythical norm that the trappings of power reside within this society. (as cited in Perry, 2011, p. 57) Even though Lorde positions this identity norm at the edge of consciousness, the norm seems to be at the center of the dominant societal myths about privilege and its discourses of law. As the particular male centric vision of power, the mythical norm functions as a regulating and governing social site and system of privileges through which unearned advantages are naturally attributed to all members of the identity norm without their own efforts and contributions (Perry, 2011, p. 57). Consequently, this normative category of men receives some of the main social, political and economic benefits by the virtue of their belonging to the aforementioned identity group. Furthermore, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William Butler Yeats And A Portrait Of The Artist As A... Sailing to Byzantium by William Butler Yeats and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce both follow the lives of a character that struggles to fit into society and because of this apparent disconnection between themselves and the rest of the culture and society they come from they are ostracized and distance themselves from the regular norms and values of society. The motive for both main characters to exile themselves and separate from the rest of society is apparent in their distaste for the materialistic and loves for art. They use art as an instrument to better themselves and gain deeper understanding about the meaning of life. In Yeats poem Sailing to Byzantium the narrator leaves his home country of Dodge on a sailing journey to the country Byzantium, which is near by in proximity to his home country but very different in its societal beliefs and norms because it is considered a holy city. The narrator describes Dodge as a place where the young and beautiful can strive and live happily, but once that beauty begins to fade with age it turns into a very different place. His discontent with the country and people who represent these shallow views is apparent from different lines of dialogue from the narrator and he heads to Byzantium to find more meaning and happiness in life. The narrator decides that Dodge is a place for shallow people because they embrace only the newest trends and whatever is pretty or aesthetically pleasing. The people of Dodge have ... • 5. The Solid Waste Management Strategy For Metro Manila Essay This report will discuss the solid waste management strategy for Metropolitan Manila, Philippines. This strategy prioritises disposal reduction through waste reduction, monitoring, collection, transferring, recycling, and composting. Waste is a term in the law of real property to describe a cause of action that can be brought in court to address a change in condition of real property brought by a current tenant that damages or destroys the value of that property. The disposal of solid waste is a problem. This problem continues to grow with the growth of population and development of industries. Disposal of waste in open pits has become routine in majority of places. Solid waste generation is an unavoidable consequence of production and consumption activities in any economy. It is positively related to the level of income and urbanization, with higher income and more urbanized economies generating higher levels of solid wastes per capita. Metropolitan cities in developing countries are usually surrounded with solid waste management related problems such as flooding, uncollected garbage and inadequate or inappropriate disposal sites. Based on the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) study, only about 73% of the 5,250 metric tons of waste generated daily are collected by 2000 dump trucks hired by our respective local government units. The remaining 27% of our daily waste or about 1,417.5 metric tons end up in canals, vacant spaces, street corners, market places, rivers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consider how they express themselves (think about verbal and non verbal means). JR has mild, fluent, anomic aphasia. People with fluent aphasia have difficulties understanding spoken and written language, but expression is mostly within normal limits (Robb, 2014). JR has difficulties naming certain words, often nouns. For example, she was having trouble naming Riverstone , a restaurant, so instead she said Dot s (the owner) place near the Waitaki River . Sometimes before our visit, JR and JM (the other CP in our group) work with fourth year Speech and Language students. Some of this work involves reading from a book, and then they answer questions about the book or review the plot and features of the novel. This seems to tire them out, as they do not take much of a break before our visit (the break is normally only around five minutes, the time it takes for them to pack up from their previous session). They are normally fine for the first 45 minutes and show no signs of fatigue, but by the end of the hour it is always evident that they are tired and would like to end the visit. On the sessions where they don t have the fourth years visit, or have not had another session before us, their communication ability is consistent. When we had our reflection after the first term, we decided that forty minute visits might be more productive. With a tighter structure of visits, we could have better discussions and ensure all the time we used was useful. This also meant that JR and JM will not as exhausted after our visits and have more positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some liberal democratic states engaged in redrawing boundaries which are within the confinement of liberalism and the liberal state, but encroaches the rights of national minorities. The central states draw boundaries to disempower national minorities. For instance, a minority s territory are divided into several units to make cohesive political action impossible. For example, the division of France into 83 departments after the Revolution, which intentionally subdivided the historical regions of the Basques, Bretons, and other linguistic minorities; or the division of Catalonia region in Spain. 3) Language policies; decisions on official languages. In many liberal democratic states, the majority language is adopted as official or de facto official language where it is used in government, bureaucracy, courts, schools, and business. While there are exceptions to this many liberal democratic states allow for multilingualism yet the policies related to language should be more robustly clarified within the human rights creed of democratic liberalism. He says, you re playing a lot of color boys, are you concern whether the Negro players can handle the pressure at the national level? The reporter is implying how a team with mostly only African American players can t win the championship. In addition, he asked if they are smart enough to handle the mental strain they ll face in the tournament. Haskin looks displease when the reporter asked him this question. • 12. Analysis Of Suicide In The Trenches Suicide in the Trenches War, a slaughter of men that has gone on for hundreds thousands of years. One of the most gruesome wars was WW1 which lasted for 4 years, 28 Jul. 1914 11 Nov. 1918. In this devastating war, the total number of casualties includes about 11 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. Many of those soldiers were young men. The poem Suicide in the trenches written by Siegfried Sassoon tells what the harsh trenches had being like and how many soldiers became depressed. Sassoon was an officer who earned a military cross after carrying a wounded solider through enemy s crossfire. He fought in many battles till 1917 where he would then have to leave the war due to Shellshock. Sassoon criticized the political leaders who sent young men off to die in huge battles that seemed pointless and while Sassoon was in Hospital he opposed the war by writing many poems including Does it Matter , The Hero and arguably the most tragic poem, Suicide in the Trenches . SUICIDE IN THE TRENCHES By Siegfried Sassoon I knew a simple soldier boy Who grinned at life in empty joy, Slept soundly through the lonesome dark, And whistled early with the lark. In winter trenches, cowed and glum, With crumps and lice and lack of rum, He put a bullet through his brain. No one spoke of him again. The irony is surreal at this point of the story (but not surprising as I will explain in the next paragraph), because the narrator believed she had Charlotte all to herself while she was supposed to be loyal to Maurice. All throughout the affair, Charlotte was having another affair with a third man and had no remorse for either of them. Neither Maurice nor the narrator has any idea of the affairs. • 14. Factors That Affect Overweight And Obesity 4) Genes Genes play a major role in overweight and obesity. It does not necessarily have to be a single gene that can cause overweight, but a multiple of them can play that role. Some people who get overweight have inherited the problem from their parents. The improvement in quantitative genetics and genomics has helped in understanding the relationship between genetics and overweight better. Conditions of overweight and obesity usually occur within a certain family. Some families had a history of overweight and obesity since a long time ago and the genes are passed from generation to generation within the members of these families. For a person from a family with a history of overweight or obesity, the risk of him/her getting overweight or obese, twice to eighth higher than a person from a family with no such history. The inheritance of obesity varies depending on the phenotype. For phenotypes connected to adipose tissue distribution (40 percent to 55 percent) and for excess body fat (5 percent to 40 percent) (Research chair in obesity, n.d.). A research was carried out by an International research partnership with over two hundred researchers to identify the genetic causes of overweight and obesity. The research was carried out on over 260000 people. There are over 50 loci in the human genome that affect the dangers of overweight. They found seven new other sites on the man s genome where small differences in the genes affect the dangers of obesity and overweight. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Reflection In My Life Over the course of this semester me and our group success have participated in a variety of activities coordinated by the Counselor Mrs. Warren which touch on topics oriented around college, careers, and ourselves as people. These activities taught us life skills that we can apply in our life. For example, some of the activities included learning to do or determine our SMART goals, long term goals, skills/strengths, values and making decisions based on them, pathways to our potential career/education. Therefore, what we learned as a group with Mrs. Warren was how to apply those life skills taught in everyday life, How we would reach point A to point B, and learn more about ourselves as people. Throughout my life I have always felt like I knew myself, but until recently I have never, truly known myself. These traits are one of my utmost important values to me in the sense that they are what I do my best to live by them. My five main values are creativity, compassion, empathy, love, and wisdom. I value creativity since through that I am able to express myself. Compassion is important to me being that I cannot be a bystander and forsake the people suffering or the guilt would eat me alive, knowing I could have done something to help. Most of my life I have empathized with people, putting myself in their shoes and feeling their emotions, so that Is why empathy is one of my core values in view of How are you going to understand someone if you cannot put yourself in their ... • 16. Comparing Sleepy Hollow and The Legend of the Sleepy... Comparing Sleepy Hollow and The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow Over time, a change has occurred from the typical horror story to a violent and bloody legend. The original short story The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow is an example of a simple, yet mysterious fable in which Ichabod Crane acts as the protagonist. Ichabod becomes the victim of the feared headless horseman after believing the superstitious tales of this spirit preying in the night. The film that is supposedly based upon the tale provides a deceiving, yet compelling title of Sleepy Hollow, as one might assume that the film is a reenactment of the short story. The townspeople looked upon Ichabod as a foreigner and responded with opposition to his notions. For example, almost immediately upon his arrival, he took a dead corpse and performed an autopsy, something that was unheard of during this time period. He remained dedicated to his work, but had a hostile, almost mysterious way about him. Why is Ichabod portrayed so different in film than in script? The answer ultimately lies in society. After watching twisted and bloody horror films, society gets hungry for something more intense, more mysterious and unpredictable, with all of the blood and gore mixed in . People get used to watching ordinary kidnappings and murders and wish for a more intense approach. This is why the original Ichabod character was not portrayed the exact same on film as he was on paper. The entertainment industry tries to keep up with this demand of society and gives to the people exactly what they are asking for: A film based upon a familiar classic tale, but twisted with mystery, confusion and massive amounts of violence. Katrina Van Tassel was the girl Ichabod fell in love with in the story. She was described as a blossoming lass of eighteen; plump as a partridge; ripe and melting and rosy cheeked She was the girl that all of the young men were fond of. (Tacitus, p.68) As well as being a strong source of information about political life during this time, the novel also catalogues the struggles faced before and after marriage by Vespasians mistress, the freedwoman Caenis. Their forbidden relationship is threatened as Vespasian reaches the height of his political career. Caenis was but a footnote mentioned in history which Davies has sanctified into a wonder woman without whom Vespasians career could not have possibly succeeded. This obvious glorification of a story is an example of a bias used to make a tale more interesting, and the lack of historical sources commenting on Caenis only proves that she is nowhere near as important as Davis makes her out to be. Regardless, this novel achieves its aim as an interesting secondary source of information on Imperial Rome from two totally different perspectives that of a slave and freedwoman, and that of an emperor. It showcases very suitably both the social and political struggles which are faced in upkeeping this unlikely relationship. There are different viewpoints on the way slaves were treated in Imperial Rome. Baal worship became abundant throughout much of the ancient Middle East; concurrently, in early societies Baal has a long history of perverted sex that is akin to Pan Worship within his cult rituals. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi brutality towards the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them like animals. They strip them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors use their past experiences to show how racism and religious persecution affect a person long after the fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through several different time periods: the pre Holocaust, the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust. Maus interweaves the past and present, the different subject histories of each character, and the very different cultural contexts of a Nazi occupied Poland versus Rego Park, New York in the present where Art is ... • 34. Too Big For Britches Essay Due to strong usage; idiomatic expressions have infiltrated people s daily conversations. One certain idiomatic expression that is popular, primarily in the southern region of the United States, is (they) are too big for their britches or too big for one s britches. This is a common slang or idiomatic expression that can fit into a physical context or even fit into southern cultural groups. The idiom is also renowned throughout history and notable history contributors who used the expression. The meaning behind idiomatic expressions is to get an exaggerated or ironic point across in order to express a feeling or thought that cannot be expressed and lived literally. Like the saying too big for your britches the expression originated from a southern representative, David Crockett, in the early 1800 s. His use of the idiom was directed towards someone who was being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only way a person who is not completely familiar with the idiomatic expression does not use the joke correctly is if they are unfamiliar with what it means. In some cases, though users who are familiar with it may use the expression in a similar way but not exactly equal to the situations with conceited people. There may be a bystander who is trying to hook up (this is also an idiomatic expression) with some a random bystander who is much more attractive but then gets rejected. Someone who may have witnessed the situation may say that the person being rejected was being too big for his britches . This is a form of changing context situation in order for the idiom to fit in place. Southern people in particular like to manipulate the meaning slightly so that its usage can be expanded to different situations. Other than that change there is no prominent change or context meaning within the joke. It has remained that way since the early 1800 s and will more than likely stay that way as ... • 36. Monophasic Nap Researchers claim that daytime napping is not natural for humans because it will result in sleep inertia, cut into personal time, and keep you up at night. However, humans have individual needs and monophasic sleep is not for everyone; sleep inertia can easily be avoided, and strategically planning a nap will prevent adjustments to your personal time and night time sleep schedule. The key to reaping the rewards of an afternoon nap is knowing your body and understanding your needs. Adults are capable of this. There are reasons why a monophasic sleep pattern of about seven to nine hours is effective for some people. A person who works a 9 to 5 job, sleeps throughout the night without disruptions, and is in good health, can follow a routine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Watching television is such a common part of contemporary society, that most Americans adopted it as a part of their daily routine and watch television for at least an hour a day. Stanley Crouch, a poet, music and cultural critic, writes that whenever people pretentiously and proudly announce, I don t watch television, they should follow it up with I don t look at America either (Masciotra 79). Television has become a part of many people s lives. When the mass population watches the same TV shows, movies, etc. they can all relate to each other, and thus unite them as an American. The internet has also been a key factor of popular culture that affects the American identity. Through different social media applications and websites, the internet has broken down communication barriers between different cultures in a way that was nearly impossible in the past. The internet has also changed how Americans go through their daily lives. In the past people had to meet in person to meet with each other and communicate. However, today people communicate with each other through the variety of social media applications on their phones. Dating applications on devices have changed how people build relationships. Nowadays, most people meet their spouses and friends through the internet. Since America is very multicultural the internet has helped these cultures to share and communicate with each other and create a more informed and understanding relationship between different cultures. While America has been multicultural for so long it does have a history of racism but the internet has helped break down some of these walls. Another way of how the social media affects the American identity is through the food advertisements online. When people order food online they also see food from other cultures, expand their knowledge about cultural cuisine and become more diverse. Since people do not want to actually have to get ... This kind of solar cells possess low cost and simple functioning together with their advantageous characteristics such as lightweight, flexible, low toxicity and good performance in diverse light conditions [2]. Usually DSSC s consists of dye adsorbed nanostructured metal oxide film serving as a photoanode, a Pt coated counter electrode and liquid electrolyte injected between them [3]. Light irradiate on the nanostructured metal oxide film causes photo excitation of the dye molecules by exciting electrons which are then injected into the conduction band of the semiconductor and fast transferred to the external circuit ... Thus, numbers of articles devoted to ZnO photoelectrode with the aim to enhance efficiency by reducing the charge carrier recombination, and improving electrical/optical performance [9 12]. In this regard, doping is the most advantageous approach to modify ZnO structures. Different kind of metals such as lanthanum [13], aluminum [14], tin [15], magnesium [16] and titanium [17] has been widely investigated as effective dopants in ZnO photoelectrode for improving the performance. Moreover, earlier reports on the DSSC have proven that the active area is directly proportional to the power conversion efficiency [18]. Therefore, we attempted to incorporate indium into ZnO to improve above cited aspects with an ideal working area (0.25cm2) of photoanode in DSSC. Indium (In3+) was chosen as dopant, because it has a noteworthy contribution in transparent conducting oxide materials and much work devoted in indium doped ZnO as a transparent conducting oxide film [19 20]. Owing to their remarkable properties such as high electronegativity, minute native lattice distortion with preferable chemical stability make indium as suitable donor than other elements for finding high quality ZnO based transparent conducting oxide with an excellent conductivity in DSSCs [21]. The interval for the next eruption is based on the total duration of the current eruption. 1.2 Research Question From previous studies there are misguided interpretations on the eruption duration and how it affects the waiting time. From mere observations we can conclude that Old Faithful has a pattern which follows a fixed set of time. The research questions that arises is; Does the eruption and waiting time of the Old Faithful geyser follow a fixed set of time or is there a variation in the waiting time with respect to the eruption time? 1.3 Research Methodology Data collection and sources; the data used in this study comes from Azzalin and Bowman(1990). It includes a data frame with 272 observations on 2 variables that is eruption time and waiting time. The data is heavily rounded times originally in seconds. Of the variables the waiting time has been used as the response variable while eruption time appears as the predictor variable. These means that waiting time is seen to be determined by the time an eruption takes. So we expect that the longer the eruption period, the longer the waiting period. This paper wishes to study the test that, under the null hypothesis, there is no variation in the waiting time. theassumptions under this hypothesis is that the interval time between one eruption to the next is fixed and do not occur by chance. In 2013, Chipotle was the first large American chain to identify genetically modified ingredients on its menu and later in 2015 announced their use of non GMO foods. They began saving conventionally raised beef and later removed all pork carnitas rom their menus in 600 stores because the suppliers did not reach Chipotle s standards. Replacing the supplier proved challenging it took more than six months to find a supplier that raised pigs to Chipotle s standards but the company was lauded for its commitment to humanely raised pork (Walker and Merkley 3).
