Introduction. Erik Erickson’S Interest In How One’S...
Introduction Erik Erickson s interest in how one s environment and social interaction drives
human behavior and the development of personality, led him to create the psychosocial theory,
Eight Stages of Man. Erikson s final four stages of psychosocial development describes a person s
development from adolescence to late adulthood. This paper will analyze the final four stages of
development, which includes: Adolescence, Young Adulthood, Middle Adulthood, and Late
Adulthood. However, one of the major criticisms of the stage theories is that they do not equally
apply to all individuals. Each stage of development looks different depending on a person s culture,
gender, environment, etc. This paper will analyze how each stage is impacted... Show more content

22). This stage may also be impacted by a person s sexual identity. According to Levy (2009),
sexual identity is not simple or clean cut and does not stand alone. It intersects with other aspects
of identity such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, religion, education, and so forth (p. 982). What is
considered normal sexual behavior does not constitute homosexuality. Therefore, adolescents who
are struggling with their sexuality, may run into an identity crisis by trying to find themselves
while trying to appeal to societal norms. While the pressure to conform to the heterosexual norm,
gays and lesbians may struggle with their same sex desires. Further, with this schism between
their desires, behaviors, and identities, individuals may experience isolation, low self esteem,
depression, and anger (Levy, 2009, p. 983). Unsuccessful resolution of this crisis may lead to role
confusion or identity diffusion (Robins et. all, 2012, p. 215). According to Robins et. Al (2012),
youths who emerge with a strong sense of identity and individuality gain a lasting ego quality of
fidelity, or freely pledged loyalties (p. 215).
Intimacy Vs. Isolation Erik Erikson s sixth stag of psychosocial development is Young Adulthood
(early to late 20s). Erikson describes this stage as the young adult develops ability to give and

Wildlife Conservation Persuasive Essay
Persuasive speech
Oil drilling and coal mining are killing endangered wildlife, polluting rivers, creating smog over
wilderness areas and blocking wildlife corridors in America s most treasured landscapes. Said
conservation expert Lydia Millet. People are a main part of animal extinction. Endangered species
are critical to our ecosystem. Without them the world would be unstable. Some of these species are
slowly fading away and we need to defend them. The question people are asking is should we do
more to save and defend animals, well I believe that that everyone should take measures to help
benefit the survival of threatened animals. In this passage you will learn why species are
endangered, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyway at least some are trying to help by working at wildlife conservation and some states bare
making wildlife corridors. Some people are even taking the time starting foundations to raise
money to save these animals. There are other things that are helping save these animals like laws
and polices ( to protect wildlife conservations), habitat restoration, and habitat reservation. The
greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. Said Mahatma Gandhi. This
is why everyone should help.
You may expect that it is necessary to devote your time money and energy into saving endangered
animals, but you are mistaken. There are some simple things you can do to help such as recycling (
I mean thats not that hard), use less energy, choose sustainable products, clean up your actions, but
more important make your voice heard, get involved, and spread the word it s that easy.
I believe that everyone should take part in saving these animals. After listening to me you know
why species are endangered, what is being done to save them, and how you can help. Endangered
species have a great impact on our lives and we need them to thrive, so remember you can

Role And Role Of Gender Inequality In Indian Society
GENDER INEQUALITY IN INDIAN SOCIETY AND ROLE OF WOMEN S EDUCATION IN
REMOVING GENDER INEQUALITY
Abstract
If we look in to the history, since ages women have been experiencing discrimination, viewed as
less than fully human, considered as inferior brains, suffered a lot due to a lack of legal rights and
with very little independence. Gender is a function of power relationship between men and women
where men are considered superior to women in Indian society. Traditionally women are considered
as weaker section and kept in a subordinate position to men. The level of discrimination differs from
society to society, community to community; it depends upon the development stage of a particular
society or nation. Patriarchy system is the root cause of gender inequality.
Education is a key tool in bringing socio economic empowerment among women, which brings
citizenry consciousness among women on their rights and duties. It promotes social, political,
economical and cultural advancement of women. Educated women have proved to be no less than
men in all fields.

Gender inequality Introduction
For centuries women were discriminated and ill treated by men. Women were considered as
inferior to men and viewed as a sub ordinate to men, ignored, neglected, confined to house hold
activities and forced to be as a good mother.

Uc Davis Rhetoric Presence Summary
Rhetoric Awareness Among Scientists: an ethnographic study describing the language used in the
Center for Neuroscience at UC Davis Synopsis The Center for Neuroscience (CN) is a complex,
large community that sparked my interest to do an ethnographic endeavor. This group provides
benefits to our society by conducting modern neurobiology research and coaching future
neurobiologists. The purpose of this ethnographic study is to have a better understanding of how
this discourse community functions as an entity. My study will focus on the methods that the CN
uses to communicate. As a member of the CN, I want to take a step back and explore, from the
perspective of an outsider, the rhetoric mechanisms that make their goals achievable. Background:
The Center for Neuroscience (CN) at UC Davis is an interdisciplinary group that focuses on
learning and memory research. The members of this discourse community vary in age (20 years
and older), educational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process to enter this group starts with getting access to the Center for Neuroscience
building. The door is always locked and only members of the community have access, granted
by the PIs, to enter. This observation reveals how selective the community is. Once inside, the
building resembled a maze with identical walls decorated with posters. The 40 by 60 posters are
an example of a genre employed by this community (Artifact 1). Every wall is covered in
colorful posters with published scientific work from members of the community. As I walked to
Dr. Gray s office, the posters in the perimeter only had work from his laboratory. The same trend
appeared for other labs. This suggests that the laboratories have designated spaces where they can
highlight their contribution to the overall goals of the CN. The posters serve as a method of
communication among the members since they can easily read each other s works and provide

Analysis Of My Neighbour Totoro
The adventurous, visually enchanting animated Japanese movie, My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao
Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released in 1988 in Japan, attempts to show the viewers the innocence
and the sense of community in Japan before the prevalent industrialization and economic boom.
The movie is set in the countryside away from the big industrialized cities. The main characters are
the schoolgirl, Satsuki Kusakabe, and her younger sister, Mei Kusakabe. Their days are brightened
thanks to the spirit of the forest, Totoro.
Hayao Miyazaki, who is born in 1941, is incorporating his own childhood in the film. Furthermore,
he focuses on the historical time the movie is set. Meanwhile, noting that the movie is made in
1988 which is during the period of the economic bubble, he reminds us of the simple Japan in the
1950s before the economic boom occupied the people of this country. In contrast to the past,
people who live in the city area do not get involved with one another s business despite how Japan
has practiced chonaikai for having an intimate sense of community within the neighbourhood ever
since the revival of chonaikai after World War 2. Hayao Miyazaki is able to reveal this specific
ambience of the Japanese community in the movie when the Kusakabe s neighbours, a young boy,
and grandmother, come to help the Kusakabe family move into their new old rotten house. It is also
seen when all the neighbours nearby help Satsuki look for her lost sister. Although the neighbours do

Water Intake During Hot Weather
Dehydration is a condition that occurs when the loss of body fluids, mostly water, exceeds the
amount that is taken in. (eMedicineHealth) Many people, particularly older adults, don t feel thirsty
until they re already dehydrated. (Mayo Clinic) That s why it s important to increase water intake
during hot weather or when you re ill.
Many of us are experiencing Spiritually Dehydration and we don t even know it.
Life can drain us, leaving us to wither away. This may not be in the form of physical death but

We look to material stuff. We look to unstable sources. When we get tired of seeking after the

how to be refreshed.
Are You Tired Yet?
When one has children, they do what they can to lead them in the right direction. When you tell
them something to do and they want to do it their own way , at some point, you let them so that
they can see how that works out for them. Often, they will find that their method did not give
them the outcome they desired so they must backtrack and follow your instructions. The result:
Their Desired Outcome. This model is how God handles us. He gives us instruction and leads us
in the right direction but we think that we know what we are doing so we choose to do things our
way. We find ourselves running around, getting worn out but not even going anywhere. How is
that working out? Just as we have the BEST intentions for our children, God has the BEST
intentions for us. We must learn to follow His instructions, otherwise, we will find ourselves going
in unnecessary circles. God has given us all the principles that we need to manifest abundance in
our lives. We simply need to believe them and apply them. There comes that point in life that you
just get tired. Tired of the bills piling up with no resources to eliminate them. Sick of getting

Building Social Business By Muhammad Yunus
I.Introduction
Building Social Business is a book about social enterprise written by Muhammad Yunus.
Muhammad Yunus is a social entrepreneur, economist, banker, and civil servant leader from
Bangladesh. He is known for founding the Grameen Bank which is a microfinance organization and
community development bank. Yunus is a well known proponent of microfinanceand microcredit.
Due to his efforts in making a change through microfinance and microcredit and other noble
causes, Yunus has been given several awards including the Independence Day Award in 1987,
World Food Price in 1994, Pfeffer Peace Price also in 1994, Gandhi Peace Price in 2000, Volvo

Through this book, Yunus shows how social businessis applied in the current business setting.
Yunus also explains how the social business model could redeem the failed promise of the free
enterprise model.
III.Reflection
After reading the first two chapters of Building Social Business, I was moved. I was inspired.
Yunus opened my eyes to another side of business which in his words was selfless. And indeed it
was selfless. Social business is truly selfless because it focuses on helping others and earning
profit comes second. By reading this book and reflecting, I realized it is better to be part of the
solution than be part of the problem. By looking at my community, at my environment, and at my
experiences in life, there are problems that will need solutions and I firmly believe that having a
social business is the solution. By my observation, slow public utilities, expensive medicine, and
empowering marginalized sectors are problems that can be solved by putting up social businesses.
By combining entrepreneurial mindset and experience, social awareness, and creativity, the ideal
social business can be done. But what makes a social business truly a social business is the

Causes And Actions In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
The Crucible was written in 1953 by an American playwright named Arthur Miller. The play was
written about the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1692.
In the play, a jealous young girl who is angered by her ex lover deciding to be with his wife starts
a movement to accuse people of being witches in a last attempt to be with him. But the accusing
isn t the only time that falsehoods are told; instead, they are present throughout the play, deep in
the story, making people twist and turn to lay the blame on other people. Some of the characters
pretended to be possessed to avoid punishment, and others confessed to sins they never
committed. Those acts are just a few examples of the lies that took place throughout the story.
The key driving factor of all the actions and main plot elements that took place in Arthur Miller s
play, The Crucible, were driven by lies and deceit because all the actions throughout the play can
be routed back to them. Arthur Miller wrote this play at a time in America where people were
being persecuted for their political beliefs, especially communism, which the idea that all
property is publically owned and each person is paid based off their abilities and need. Arthur
Miller did not share this belief, but he had many friends who did; therefore, he too was being
persecuted. He wrote this play because the Salem witch trials reminded him of the situation he
was in, where someone could accuse him of something he never did and have no evidence, but
he could still be considered guilty. In this play, several young girls start a process of accusing
people of being witches, and even though they have no proof, these claims are taken seriously
and the people are investigated and some are even hanged. The girls start off the story by
sneaking out of their various houses to go to the woods in the middle of the night. In the woods,
they run around, and dance, and throw things in the fire, and one girl, Abigail, even drinks chicken
blood and asks to be with her ex lover, John Proctor, who is married and has three children. The
girls get caught by Reverend Parris, uncle to Abigail and father to Betty, another one of the young
girls present during the inciting

Ginsburg V. City Of Ithaca And Cornell University Case Study
Title: Ginsburg v. City of Ithaca and Cornell University et al., 839 F. Supp. 2d. 537 (N.D.N.Y.
2012). Parties: Plaintiff: Howard I. Ginsburg, as Administrator of the Estate of Bradley Marc
Ginsburg, Defendants: City of Ithaca and Cornell University. Court: United States District
Court. Procedural posture: The case is before the Northern District of New York after the
plaintiff, Howard I. Ginsburg, filed an amended petition as the administrator of the estate of his
deceased son, Bradley Marc Ginsburg, asking that the City of Ithaca and Cornell University be
held negligent for Bradley s wrongful death as well as personal injuries and conscious pain and
suffering. Facts: On or about February 16 or 17, 2010, a freshman Cornell student, Bradley
Ginsburg, committed suicide after jumping to his death off the Thurston Avenue Bridge in
Ithaca, New York. Investigation showed that Bradley exhibited no visible warning signs
associated with someone thinking about ending their life, but the father alleged that the City of
Ithaca and Cornell University failed to take appropriate precautions to secure the bridge after 26
prior suicides on it and the other six bridges near campus between 1990 and 2010. Issues: 1) Did
Cornell University through planning with the City of Ithaca exercise sufficient control over the
design, construction, and maintenance of the Thurston Avenue Bridge where they could not be
held liable for any alleged hazards on the bridge that might cause injuries or death? 2) Did the
City of Ithaca and Cornell University takes adequate steps to ensure the safety of individual s
using the bridge at any time after the prior deaths were committed? Holdings: 1) No. Between
the years of 2006 through 2007 Cornell University played a major part in the City of Ithaca s
redesign and rebuilding of the Thurston Avenue Bridge but was irresponsible due to their failure
to express the importance of adding railings and other preventive suicide measures over aesthetics
even with the prior knowledge of past suicidal events. Galindo v. Town of Clarkstown, 2 N.Y. 3d

The Story Of An Hour And The Awakening Feminist Analysis
At the end of 19th century, American society presented an ideology of patriarchy. Feminists
struggle for the equality and discrimination against female. As feminist movement started, lots of
female writers were explored. One of the most famous writers is Kate Chopin. Her works mostly
present a theme of women pursue freedom and equality. The Story Of An Hourand The Awakening
are her representative works. In these two works, Kate Chopinreveals how women lived under the
oppression of male dominated society, especially for women who got married. They were not
financially independent and their freedom and rights were deprived. Therefore female were forced
to be an angle in the home . Both challenge the preconception that women can only be a
housekeeper and marriageis the only way out.
The Story of an Hour was narrated by the third person. The main character Mrs. Mallard is a
housewife and she has a heart trouble. Her Husband dies in a railroad disaster. When she heard
the news, she did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, with a paralyzed
inability to accept its significance. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her
sister s arms (Pg 93). She did not cry out immediately, she seems shocked for a while and suddenly
break out. From my opinion, she isn t shocked, she is surprised. She is not just cry for the death of
Mr. Mallard, but also for the free life that she s going to live. She has been trapped and pressed for
so long. Husband s

I Left The Biotech Industry
I left the biotech industry in 1995 after working for five years as a biochemist. I was unhappy
working in a research laboratory all day with little interaction with people. One night I was
watching The Power of Myth program on Public Broadcasting Service TV channel where Bill
Moyers was interviewing Joseph Campbell. I heard Mr. Campbell repeat several times a
statement that resonated with me follow your bliss he said. For the next several months, it was
the only thing that I was thinking. Where is my bliss I kept wondering? My wife was pregnant

the most about Ecotek was the environmental training and the presentations that I did for my

Jourdon Anderson s Letter To Former Slavery
Jourdon Anderson a former slave who was freed from a Tennessee plantation, responded to
Colonel P.H. Anderson his former master letter wanting him to return to his estate was eloquently
written as he expresses his feeling, thoughts and memory. One would think that a slave who is
assumed illiterate and having no formal education would not be able to pen such a letter. In my
opinion, Jourdon response is a reflection of the precise sentiments of many freed slaves during the
period of black reconstruction. He expresses relief that he had not been forgotten you had not

University Health Systems Is The Leading Trauma Center For...
The organization that I have chosen is University Health Systems also known as Bexar County
Hospital. University Health Systems is the leading trauma center for South Texas.. The medical
benefits that are offered can only be used within the organization and the family medical offices.
The University Health Systems is a large organization that is part of the medical school; as well
it is the County Hospital where all the inmates go for treatment. They are expecting every
employee to use or go though the county clinics to seek treatment, which is a challenge in itself
as the clinics, are so busy on any given day or night. There are many reasons to rethink the
compensation and benefits that this organization offers employees. They do offer a large PTO
amount each payday; however that is used for everything such as, sick leave, holiday pay, and
vacations. If one of the departments is closed for the holiday then you are forced to take PTO
even if you do not want to. During the first year of employment, full time staff accrues 28 days at
the rate of 8.62 hours every two weeks. The accrual rate increases with each year of full time
service, up to a rate of 38 days per year (University Health Systems, 2015). Another benefit that is
offered is a 457 account in which the company will match 25 cents on the dollar. That is not a very
good retirement plan. When looking at the organization as a whole, there must be some way that
the compensation benefits can be re evaluated and

Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior
Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior s
If a war was to take place, and the Spartans are the enemy warriors, you better pray to god you
live to breathe another day. There are many reasons behind the fact that Spartans are the
deadliest warriors of all time. Could it be that they begin training to become a warrior at the age
of 7? Or could it be how they were starved and only could get food by being a successful warrior.
Spartans can be recognized as cruel warriors that cared for no one, when actually they had to be
blood thirsty otherwise they would not survive themselves. Throughout this essay I will claim the
hardships a Spartan had to go through to become such well known warriors in history. (Thesis?)

Other warriors forbidden fighting and hazing others due to the fact that it will destroy their
unity. This was not the case with the Spartans. While training Spartans were hazed and beat by
instructors only to make them stronger as an individual. Moments occurred during training
where young children would fight another child to death in order to eliminate the weak. When
instructors saw this they would only sit and watch, looking for either a leader or a dominant
individual. Unlike today Spartans already knew what their future held. That was to be a Spartan

How Does Joseph K. Toole Create Justice In Montana
On November 8, 1889, Montana became the 41st American state. Joseph K. Toole was the first
governor, while Helena was the capital city. Railroads changed the Montana Territory. The first
transcontinental railroad, connected Chicago, Illinois, with Sacramento, California, was finished in
1869, but the track was far south from the Montana Territory. The settlers needed a railroad passing
through it to bring more people. Violent crime in this territory started up vigilantes. Their purpose
was to bring justice to the Montana mining areas, but they used lawless methods to enforce their
ideas. The journey taken by many newcomers to Montana needed both steamboat and land
transportation. Steamboats mainly left St. Louis and went up the Missouri River as far as Fort
Benton in north central Montana. In 1867 alone, some 10,000 travelers arrived at Fort Benton.

Classroom behavior management can be one of the most difficult issues teachers face today. With
the variance of personalities in one classroom, it may be difficult for a teacher to stay actively in

Developed by Edna Foa, prolonged exposure therapy exposes patients to their traumatic event over
and over again while being in a safe place (Blankenship 277). Although prolonged exposure therapy
is one treatment it has four main elements including education, breathing retraining, in vivo
exposure, and imaginal exposure. Education consists of learning about the treatment, treatment
symptoms, and goals of the treatment. Breathing retraining helps patients to relax and calm
themselves when they become anxious. In vivo exposure allows patients with PTSD to be put in
real life situations that they are not comfortable with due to the trauma they have faced. Lastly,
imaginal exposure allows the patients with post traumatic stress disorder to talk through their
traumatic event while it is recorded. After repeatedly talking through their event, the patient then
listens to what they have said (Swan 28). Prolonged exposure therapy occurs over eight to fifteen
sessions. Each session can range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the patient and their specific

What Is The Moral Of Spoke Zebra
If a zebra is marked with a big red X , not only does the herd outcast it but it is also the likely
candidate to be the lion s meal. Being in a herd seems beneficial for survival but it comes with
costs that may not be worth it. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche, Zarathustra
describes being part of a herd, along with many other actions, as life denying. His concerns are
ethics and living well. In the prologue, Nietzsche tells the story of how Zarathustra went up a
mountain and spent ten years there gaining wisdom on life; he then descends to share his
wisdom, but the people laugh at him and he comes to realize that they did not and would not take
him seriously because they were too far gone with old beliefs and ways. He also... Show more

The most important part of his claims on how to restore the quality of life, is that they all go
hand in hand. One does not achieve one and move to the next but rather, one works on achieving
them all. They are set up to have equal importance; there is no hierarchy. All of his claims are
correlative and will bring about a well lived life, there is no doubt about that. Nietzsche s
perspective on the quality of life people are currently living is accurate meaning that he
understand what he is proclaiming when he states his ideas on how to better it. His goal is to
encourage those who are willing to hear him, to be creative, free, self fulfilling individuals. If one
agrees and decides to abide by his claims, their life shall be just like living as a marked

Summary Of Does America Still Exists By Richard Rodriguez
Richard Rodriguez, in his article, Does America Still Exists? states that America is the nation of
united diversity. It is a country where everyone is welcomed and treated equally. He expresses his
confusion about the real definition of America when he talks about how the people in America are
into racism and differences despite the country being made up of immigrants. The author asserts
that America does exist, first by defining America, and by showing the inter connection between
people born from different regions of the world. The responsibility of the people is to stop being
racist and staying with the people of own origin only but reaching out and mixing with others as
one nation. Analysis: Richard Rodriguez in his essay, Does America Still Exists? asserts that all
citizens of America are Americans despite the difference in their origin. The author narrates the
story, using different examples of interconnection between the different origins of people in
America. He says, America was born Protestant and bred Puritan, and the notion of community we
share is derived from seventeenth century faith...we are gathered together but as individuals, with
separate pasts, distinct destinies. Our society is as paradoxical as a Puritan congregation: we stand
together alone (195). The author states that people from all backgrounds live in in the country as...

Avant Garde
Given the question from Tuesday s class, I was interested in applying the Avant Garde theory to
Beowulf. Initially I understood this theory to apply primarily to text that deals with changes in a
culture and conflict between past and current values. With this understanding, I was interested in
analyzing the relationship between the pagan values present in the story before it was recorded in
writing and the Christian values that became incorporated in the epic as it was written. Christian
concepts may have become incorporated by a number of poets as they transferred the piece orally
after Christianitybecame common in Europe. This idea that Christian and pagan values are a point
of contention within the story is also mentioned on pages 33 and... Show more content on

The first example that I found is on page 38 of our textbook, lines 91 97, and describes the story
of creation as told by the poets entertaining in Heorot. This reference to Christian concepts would
likely not have been present in the original pagan story. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is
described as an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters
by the Creator. Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is
briefly described. This seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into
the story. On page 40, lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more
apparent as the author tells of pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes
(translated) that they know not how to praise the Prince of Heaven. Jumping to page 65, lines 1269
1273, Beowulf is described as having called upon the strength and comfort of God to overcome
Grendel. Similarly, on lines 2328 2330, Beowulf believed that he had angered the lord and that
the burning of his hall and the surrounding lands by a dragon was caused by his breaching of
ancient law. These ideas of the creator may have been inserted into the poem in favor of other
ideas that contained pagan concepts and were less relatable to the people of the time. The final
example of this mixing of Christian and

Feminist Theory Applied to Hamlet
Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness, and the Responsibilities of Feminist Criticism Elaine
Showalter Though she is neglected in criticism, Ophelia is probably the most frequently
illustrated and cited of Shakespeare s heroines. Her visibility as a subject in literature, popular
culture, and painting, from Redon who paints her drowning, to Bob Dylan, who places her on
Desolation Row, to Cannon Mills, which has named a flowery sheet pattern after her, is in inverse
relation to her invisibility in Shakespearean critical texts. Why has she been such a potent and
obsessive figure in our cultural mythology? Insofar as Hamlet names Ophelia as womanand frailty,
substituting an ideological view of femininity for a personal one, is she indeed... Show more content

According to David Leverenz, in an important essay called The Woman in Hamlet. Hamlet s
disgust at the feminine passivity in himself is translated into violent revulsion against women,
and into his brutal behaviour towards Ophelia. Ophelia s suicide, Leverenz argues, then
becomes a microcosm of the male world s banishment of the female, because woman represents
everything denied by reasonable men. To liberate Ophelia from the text, or to make her its
tragic center, is to re appropriate her for our own ends; to dissolve her into a female symbolism
of absence is to endorse our own marginality; to make her Hamlet s anima is to reduce her to a
metaphor of male experience. I would like to propose instead that Ophelia does have a story of her
own that feminist criticism can tell; it is neither her life story, nor her love story, nor Lacan s story,
but rather the history of her representation. This essay tries to bring together some of the categories
of French feminist thought about the feminine with the empirical energies of American historical
and critical research; to yoke French theory and Yankee knowhow. Tracing the iconography of
Ophelia in English and French painting, photography, psychiatry, and literature, as well as in
theatrical production, I will be showing first of all the representational bonds between female
insanity and female sexuality. Secondly, I

You re Not Cool at All Essay
While all the other children are in school learning, and being; for the most part, obedient and civil
youngsters , the seven dropouts being cool at the golden shovel in the story We Real Cool by
Gwendolyn Brooks do not realize the amount of damage their doing to their futures by living the
lifestyles they do. The workis a condensed yet concise statement on the recklessness of youth who
are like cars without brakes in the frenzy of youth. They do not anticipate an accident awaiting
them in their uncontrolled life. They do whatever they perceive to be real cool, (1) and this
nonchalant uncaring way is the latest in thing to do. As they take pride in declaring that they had

Brook s use of connotative language brings to light the negative outlook the speakers have on
living within the social contract. The seven speakers are wild and unruly, they do not care for
what laws or regulations are set upon them, they would not obey them regardless. The poem
declares that they recently dropped out of school and therefore are not old enough to be doing
any of the things there doing at the golden shovel such as jazzing june, (7) and thinning gin, (6);
which could be taken to mean dancing and drinking, which isn t all too terrible but still to adult
for the speakers either way. These could also be taken to mean sex and watering down the gin to
rip off customers. Brooks makes the reader wonder what the boys are doing until late at night or
exactly what sins the speakers are reveling about, but either way Brooks leaves this open to
allow the reader to perceive it one way or another through the language of the work which is so
incorrect as to show an even greater lack of care for rules. After dropping out of school and
having no respect for guidelines of any sort, this type of wording shows this perfectly. The
wording of the title also brings a metaphysical layer to the story. The subtitle Seven at The Golden

Acetic Acid Concentration Lab Report
In this experiment, the concentration of acetic acid in a sample of vinegar was calculated. The
sample used for the experiment was sample 4, created on 2/22/2017. The concentration was
calculated by titrating the vinegar with NaOH. Unfortunately, NaOH does not form a pure
solution so its concentration also had to be calculated. This was done by using it to titrate a
solution of KHP, which does form a pure solution. Once the concentration of NaOH was known, it
could be used to calculate the mols of acetic acidin a known volume of vinegar, giving us the
concentration.
This will result in the calculated mass of acetic acid to be higher. This is because it appears that
additional NaOH was required to titrate the solution, and the mols ... Show more content on

This was done by titrating the vinegar with a base that had a calculated concentration. The final
average concentration after three trials was 0.5285% by mass. All of the measurements used were
taken to four significant figures. One potential source of error is the use of an indicator and
titration. In order to induce a change in the color of the solution, it must become slightly basic, this
means that more NaOH was added than was actually required to neutralize the acetic acid. This
error would indicate that the concentration of acetic acid was slightly higher than it really is;
unfortunately, it is unavoidable with the current experiment setup. Another problem with the
titration process is that the base can only be added in drops, limiting the precision even more.
Aside from these limitations it appears that the process yielded fairly accurate results, with only a
5.706% error when compared to the industry

Why The Convicts Were Sent To Australia
The movement of people around the world has a long history, with many migrations having been
forced. With the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade spanning over 400 years, dating back to the 1400s, the
forced transportation of Africans to Europe and the Americas gave rise to cheap labour and
justifiable racism. Also utilised as cheap labour, British convicts were transported against their will
to a foreign settlement in the eighteenth century, however, the way that both groups were treated

Parable Of The Prodigal Son Analysis
Going to great lengths to recover what was lost and then celebrating its recovery seems to be the
common theme of several of the parables. The parable of the prodigal son has three main
characters, the kind and forgiving father who remains the same throughout the parable is a picture
of God and Jesus. The younger son symbolizes sinners and the older brother bring the religious
leaders and the Pharisees. It started off focusing the younger son who got the share of the property.
The younger son insults his father with this request (Carson, NIV Zondervan Study Bible, 2109)

The other half focuses on the older brother s angry reaction to the celebration of the younger son
coming back, which parallels that of the attitude of the religious leaders and Pharisees towards
the tax collector and sinners. They outwardly they lived blameless lives, but inwardly their
attitudes were rotten (Matthew 23:25) Although, it is true that the older son worked hard,
obeyed his father, and brought no disgrace to his family; his attitude towards his brother was out
of rage and disgust. Even refuse to acknowledge the younger son as his brother. The older son
focuses on the outward actions, but not inward attitude. He was to focus on himself and equality,
that he fails to recognize his brother repentance. This passage probably refers to 1 john 2: 9 11.
Later the father pointed out he has always been available to ask but never utilized the blessing at
his disposal.
In the parable of the lost sheep and the lost coin, is related to the parable Prodigal Son in the
sense of when the sheep is brought back, the coin is found there will be a celebration, but there
would also be more joy over the repentant sinner than the ninety nine righteous persons who need
no repentance. (v. 15:7), like the prodigal son parable.
The underlying theme in all of them is about how we are dependent to God and although God doesn

they would highly recommend going to a therapist to help a person with a wide range of issues.
While other people say that therapists are jokes and that people are better off coping with their
issues by themselves. Some people do not realize that the choice to go to therapyor not is
circumstantial. Making the choice to seek help is also very reliant on the individual and their own
views. A great amount of trust is the key to a good relationship between the therapist and patient.

The therapist is very important part of the recovery process. Each therapist has their own way of
doing their job. For example, art therapy can be approached in many different ways. If a therapist
is bad at doing their job then the patient will be affected differently compared to another patient
who was helped by a different therapist. Depending on the traumatic event, the process to
recovering will be different and the result will too be different. For instance, a mother whose son
just committed suicide will have a much different traumatic experience compared to a victim of
sexual assault. Each of those patients needs to be treated in a different way, and so a different
outcome will be reached. Another thing that should be taken into account is the patient. A patient s
attitude, whether or not they want to be there, and their willingness to share with the therapist can
change the outcome of therapy. If a patient has a negative attitude towards therapy then it is
possible that therapy could be less effective for them compared to other patients. Details are
crucial to the therapist so they can help find the root of the problem and help a patient move on.
There are many cases in which an adolescent doesn t have the choice to refuse therapy. If the child
does not want to be there then there is a good chance they will refuse to share the details of

Chapter 2
The Financial Market Environment
( Instructor s Resources
Overview
Money and capital markets and their major components are introduced in this chapter. Firms need
to raise capital in order to survive. Financial institutions give firms access to the money they need to
grow. However, greed can drive financial managers and institutions to commit actions that get them
into trouble and even force bankruptcy. These bankruptcies result in limited capital flows to firms,
and both they and the whole economy can suffer. Therefore, financial institutions and markets
should be well regulated. The final section covers a discussion of the impact of taxation on the firm
s financial activities.

The money market is created by a financial relationship between the suppliers and demanders of
short term debt securities maturing in one year or less, such as U.S. Treasury bills, commercial
paper, and negotiable certificates of deposit. The Eurocurrency market is the international
equivalent of the U.S. money market and is used for short term bank time deposits denominated in
dollars or other major currencies.
4.The capital market is a financial relationship created by a number of institutions and arrangements
that allows the suppliers and demanders of long term funds (with maturities greater than one year)
to make transactions. The key securities traded in the capital markets are bonds plus common and
preferred stock.
5.The broker market consists of national and regional securities exchanges. These organizations
provide a location, such as the New York Stock Exchange, to bring together the buyers and sellers
of debt and equity. They create a continuous market for securities, allocate scarce capital, determine
and publicize security prices, and aid in new financing.
In contrast, dealer markets are electronic markets for the buyers and sellers of securities not listed
on the major exchanges. In a dealer market, physical trading locations are replaced by security
dealers who offer to buy or sell securities at stated bid/ask prices. Dealers buy securities from
clients and sell them to other dealers, who in turn sell them to their clients. A majority

Efficient Market Hypothesis an
The quote shows a strong relation to the efficient market hypothesis (EMH), as it implies that the
costs of capital are dependent from the amount of information given by the company. According
to my opinion, agency theory is a good explanation for costs of capital. Agency theory defines
contracts as under which one party #8211; called principal #8211; engages another party #8211;
called the agent #8211; to perform service on the principal #8217;s behalf. Concluding, the
principal delegates decision making authority to the agent. Both sides of the contract are utility
maximisers and the agent will not necessarily act in the principal #8217;s best interests. This leads
to the rise of agency costs. Agency costs are the welfare... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, comparability of information needs an explanation. This leads into either one standard for
accounting procedures or different standards with firms obliged to mention which standard they
have chosen. In the past, business fought constantly against the uniformation of standards and the
problem of the latter suggestion is that it needs skilled users to evaluate the impact of the
different standards on the financial statement. As only a limited group will be able to do this, the
number of possible financers is reduced. Capital could become more expensive since in free
market systems a broader supply of capital should result into lower prices for capital and the
reverse effect is true. Further, accounting has difficulties to clearly measure performance and the
value of assets. Therefore, many different methods exist as historical cost, present value, current
replacement costs, net realisable value, and deprival value accounting and all are reasonable in
their approaches. Trust of the public means more trust in managements #8217; behaviour. This is
reflected in less monitoring and reduced bonding costs. The former reduction is obvious and with
good experience in more trustworthy relationships the monitoring mechanisms should decrease. As
these costs decrease, so should the costs of capital decrease caused by a decrease of interest
expense or dividend payout. A capital market #8217;s development is dependent from investors
#8217; trust

Effects Of The Media On Society
Chapter 3: Effects of the Media Though war contributed to changes in society, the media was the
driving factor behind changes including the fixation with beauty among women. Magazines had the
ability to perpetuate the already emerging ideals. The idea of self improvement became a very
popular topic in the 1920s seen across all women s magazines, contributing to the progression from
the middle class women to the New Woman. This New Woman was one of beauty and fun with
admiration and lasting popularity as stated in International Women s News magazine, promoting
fragrances that made such claims. The emergence of products and methods to attain the arising
beauty standards fared well in combination with advertisingthat enforced fears and vanity
associated with such.
Change in Beauty Standards: Topic sentence? Products such as reducing belts and slimming baths
were advertised to reduce body weight. With more leisure time after production and integration of
automated machines (is this supporting opposition?) books and magazines were in every
household. The best seller diet book written by Dr. Lulu Hunt Peter, Diet and Health, the Key to
Calories, was popularized as the body image of women was brought to the forefront of their minds.
This idea known as scientific homemaking was used by advertisers to convince women of how they
should feel, and thus change their consumerism habits. Advertising of the 20s had shifted from
portraying delicate ladies to the fun New

Comparison Essay Comparing Beowulf And Superman
Many comics and epic poems tell of times that people need heroes. In Beowulf and the Superman
comics both hero s fill essential needs within their respective societies. In the following paragraphs,
I will be speaking on the gifts each hero has to handle enemies, their motives and what they mean to
their societies and the effects they have on them. First, both heroes have great gifts that they use in
their respective stories. Beowulfhas superior strength to all men and most monsters and
superhuman endurance shown by actions such as surviving underwater for hours and still being
able to fight. Beowulf s powers fits the type of world he lives in with there being monsters not
capable of destroying the planet or kingdoms but rather destroying small villages. Beowulf with
his aforementioned powers managed to kill Grendel and the dragon but also died in the process to
the poison of the dragon. Superman has superhuman strength, speed, endurance, can fly, see
through walls, shoot lasers from his eyes, freeze foes with his breath and many more
abilities.Superman s powers fits his world due to having many enemies who can destroy the planet
along with major cities. Superman with his powers had saved the world many times against foes...

Beowulf s motives are not too clear but he acts based on the needs of people. This is
demonstrated in his decisions to fight Grendel and the dragon especially when he chose to fight
Grendel who was a threat to a foreign nation. Superman motives though are more cut and dry
being to protect the weak and most importantly him vowing to not kill. The decision not to kill is
key to his character because he could of killed all of his enemies but due to his chose many of his
enemies return and he continues to fight them and not kill them. If Superman was to kill his foes
there would be less threats but he would no longer be Superman who is a sign of good and hope for

Gmo s And The Plight Of Honey Bees
GMO s and the Plight of the Honey Bees
Most people do not worry about where their food comes from but they do worry about what goes
into it. More than one third of the population believe that GMO s are safe to eat while 52%
believe they are unsafe and 13% are unsure. To start what is GMO. Why is it so important to
some people? What do honeybees have to do with GMO s? These two are more closely related
then people think. A GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) is a laboratory process where genes
from the DNA of one species is extracted, then artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated
plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even
humans. Example: The transgenic potato plants that have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Research Paper On Zoroastrianism
Zoroastrianism, in spite of the fact that the littlest of the significant religions of the world in the

El NiГ±o Vs La NiГ±a
El NiГ±o and La NiГ±a are opposite effects of the same phenomenon. They both cause changes
in the temperatures between the atmosphere and the Pacific region. El NiГ±o is caused by a
change in the wind patterns. The Pacific trade winds go from east to west and the warm ocean
water go the opposite direction. Normally the two forces creates a balance in the middle. When
the Pacific trade winds are weaker than usual, the warm ocean water rushes to the east and
collides with the the west coast of the coastal cities at the east of the Pacific. This causes the
average ocean temperature to be much warmer. La NiГ±a is effectively the opposite of El NiГ±o.

quot; The World Is Not Enough quot; is a great action adventure movie with exciting stunt scenes,
exotic locations, beautiful women and traditional Bond one liners. Pierce Brosnan carries on the
role of the world s most famous secret agent, James Bond in which was established by Sean
Connery in 1962 s quot;Doctor No quot;. Since it is also the 19th installment to the longest

to the number of women that are involved in his life. There seems like a shortage in women in this
film compared to the earlier films.
French actress Sophie Marceau plays Elektra King, who is the daughter of a tycoon who wants
to link his pipeline from the former Soviet controlled areas to Europe. Marceau does an incredible
job of playing her role as Elektra. Especially during the intimate scenes with Bond and with her so
called captor, Renard. Denise Richards is the other Bond girl in this adventure. She plays a nuclear

Christmas Jones. Her performance in the film is ok, but could be better. For the most part, her
part doesn t fit into the film as much as Marceau s character. Basically, she just in the film to kill

just added her in the film to bring more people to the theaters. 6.
The earlier James Bond films went by the format of having the lead villain and a henchman as

Theme Of Iago In Othello
William Shakespeare has presented Iago as the antagonist, who manipulates other characters in the
play, Othello. From the beginning to till the end, he is a controller of other characters and his sole
motive was to take revenge on Othello and Cassio. Every character in the play believes that Iago is
the most reputed, honest, reliable, and direct speaking person. Therefore, he uses that trust to
manipulate every character in the play for his sake of revenge. Despite his negative intention in the
play, Iagolove for his wife Emilia is true and pure. Iago is truthful only to his wife. Iago was a good
with everybody in the beginning, but when Moor chose Cassio over him for the post of Othello
lieutenant, he got jealous. Iago believed that he was the only one who was worthy of that post
and who deserved a promotion. However, choosing Cassio over him made him hate Cassio and
Othello. This incident seeded the plant of revenge in Iago s heart for Othello and Cassio and he
wanted to kill them both. From this point of play, Iago starts his plan in manipulating another
character of play for his revenge. When Cassio got the post of lieutenant, Iago says, I follow to
serve my turn upon him: We cannot all be masters, nor all masters cannot be truly followed (Iago
Act I, Scene i). Iago is clearly bitter about not getting the post of lieutenant. However, he hides his
jealousyand reveals that he serves Othello only to serve himself. He says to Roderigo that men
cannot follow leaders if they want to lead themselves. After that, he refers to Othello and says,
that not all men are fit to lead and not all leaders should be followed. With that statement, Iago is
praised as the honest person. But Iago was burning inside for the revenge with Othello and
Cassio. Iago hated Cassio after he got the post of lieutenant instead of him, but Iago hated Othello
before that incident happened. Iago started hating Othello when he heard the rumor of Othello
hooking up with Iago s wife Emilia. And after finding out he was not chosen for the post of
Othello s lieutenant, Iago s hate for Othello change into revenge. Iago wanted to make Othello s
life a living hell and kill him. Iago makes people act in a way that benefits his plan of

Aging- Living Organisms
Aging is a fundamental truth and an inevitable aspect of every living organism in the world.
There are more than four hundred theories on how and why we age. None of them stands out as
a single winner in explaining everything about aging but in fact, they are all interconnected and
together they explain the possible process of aging. This assignment attempts to explore the
research based avenues which could possibly help Mickey live significantly longer than Minnie,
based on the assumption that Mickey and Minnie inherit the same genetic programme but follow
different life styles. Different authors and researchers define aging differently. Aging has been
defined by Balducci(2007) as a loss of entropy and fractality. Loss of entropy implies a
progressive reduction in an individual s functional reserve, whereas loss of fractality implies a
progressive reduction in the ability to coordinate different activity and negotiate the environment .
Yet another definition which would encapsulate the wider meaning of the term aging is aging as a
multifaceted phenomenon associated with decrements in cellular and physiological functions,
increases in the incidence of numerous degenerative diseases and diminished capacity for
responding to stress (Beckman and Ames, 1998). The theories on aging can broadly be classified
as programmed and damage based. While the former argues that the complex process of aging is
primarily pre programmed by genes and not due to any random or

19th Century Prostitution
Across the 19th century the image of the prostitute and how she is portrayed in different novels
has evolved. While early depictions of a prostitute describe a woman who plagues society, later
portrayals offer a much more human and sympathetic view. Across many works of the 19th
century, there are several images of the prostitute that change overtime to reflect society s view
of these women. Between the character, Nana from Emile Zola s novel and Lulu from the silent
film Pandora s Box, there is visible evolution of the 19th century prostitute and her relationship to
society. Emile Zola s novel Nana offers a very negative and critical view of the prostitute in
French society. Zola s entire novel acts to criticize women like Nana for the disease... Show more

The prostitute Lulu, featured in the film Pandora s box offers a sympathetic mage of the
prostitute. The 1929 silent film is based off a set of plays called the Lulu plays from the late
19th century, and offers a more positive portrayal of a prostitute compared to earlier works from
the era. One aspect of Lulu that is not incorporated into the earlier 19th century image of a
prostitute is the prospect of marriage. Lulu is allowed to enter the upper class tier of life and does
so through marrying the Doctor. Allowing for a prostitute to be marry contradicts the early image
of an immoral woman that was associated with prostitutes like Nana. Along with this shift in
social status, Lulu is much more of a victim than earlier prostitutes like Nana were. By some
circumstances, Lulu is forced into prostitution by her father. Where prostitutes from the early 19th
century had always been the gross plague of society, with Lulu, she is a victim and a man (her
father) is shown to be the immoral character. This point is further supported by Lulu s death. While
most prostitutes from earlier works succumb to a disease of their own body, Lulu is murdered.
Again, Lulu is the victim not the cause of her suffering. The differences in the portrayal of Nana
and Lulu show an eveolution of the

Analysis Of Selling Of A Serial Killer
Selling of a Serial Killer directed by Nick Bloomfield was a compelling documentary that
followed the trial of Aileen Wuornos, America s first female serial killer who had killed seven
men along a highway between 1989 and 1990. The film opens with newscasts covering the subject
to show the severity of the matter, that serial killing were more common in the later portion of the
nineties (Selling of a Serial Killer). Aileen s full confession for the murderof Richard Mullary is
introduced to the audience within the first five minutes. Her confession is one of self defense
insisting that she was continuing abused by her clients during the course of her career as an escort
and prostitute. This is used as a technique to insight pity and sympathy. Bloomfield takes great
interest into her lawyer Steve Grazer, asking about his multiple professions, including being an
agent for Aileens adoptive mother, Arlene Pralle in addition to pressing Bloomfield for money
supposedly requested by Aileen for an interview (Selling of a Serial Killer).
The great interest in Steve Grazer is a tacktick to insight suspicion into Steve, who is portrayed
as a controversial quirky character, with every little law experience. As well as portraying Arlene
as less of a mother figure, and more as a person willing to exploit Aileen for her personal gain,
shown by the multiple conflicts in the film (Selling of a Serial Killer). Bloomfield often uses film
from newscasts because of the conflicts that had

The Evil Of Society In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
Society is built upon fascinating cultures along with many religious beliefs. Although it s not
perfect, we conceive it as being civilized. Nevertheless, our communities are all dependent on
people. This proposes that the defects we can see in our society are caused by defects that are
present in human nature. In the novel Lord of the Flies, William Goldingdemonstrates how
civilization is devastated when humans wonder to the dark sides of their instinct. In his works,
several characters, such as Simon and Piggy, represent the more formal side of Man. However,
protagonists, like Ralph, transition from their diplomatic selves to savagery. This supports the
claim Golding and I share that at his core, all Man is still barbaric even with his attempts at tamed
behavior.
In the story, a plane is struck down, crashing it on an isolated island. A number of boys, now
distanced from civilization, survived. Throughout their times on the isle, many among the group
tried to establish order and structure. These include Ralph, Piggy, and Simon, who resemble the
accommodating side of society. During their time, Ralph was elected to be the leader, which
established a form of jurisdiction and control. He comments, if it rains like when we dropped in we
ll need shelters... (Golding 52) Ralph attempts to accumulate the boys in order to build a sanctuary.
While Ralph illustrates leadership qualities, Simon stands on the more natural side of the spectrum.
As he s walking through the clearing, he

Stereotypes Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bleh Bleh Bleh What does the notorious bloodsucking Dracula have in common with the
attractive vampires that are shown in the movie Twilight? A lot actually, not only do they share
the same name of Vampire or Undead , they also share the same powers and needs. The vampire
genre has gone a long way, specifically with books like Bram Stoker s Dracula. It first started out as
folklore and then it turned into a popular topic of writing in early European culture. Bram Stoker
then combined what he could into one classic vampirethat is widely known today. Even in today s
modern generation, Bram Stoker s widely known character Dracula continues to be used as the
classic vampire that is an example of a basis for the undead . In Bram Stoker s... Show more content

Clarson makes a point of talking about the fangs being sharp, proving that it is a way to identify
a vampire such as the Count. This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the
need for blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim
into a vampire as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of
fangs that are used to feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is
something about burning red eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the
whole vampire stereotypes. Despite not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met
up with Dracula and had taken a lot of acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count.
Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting the count for the first time, I could only see the
gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker
10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that comes to Harkers mind when he first sees
the Count. The stereotype of vampires having red eyes is probably one of the most known
stereotypes when it comes to the undead and the vampire genre. The burning red eyes show a sense
of character in the vampires, giving them an evil quality that strikes fear into those who look into
them. Another

Persuasive Essay On Animal Shelter
Many may ask, why waste a valuable life? Why kill when you can just save them and adopt?
Animals deserve the chance to live just like any person in this world does. Over the past 20 years,
animal shelter communities in the United States has been grappling with the overpopulation
problem of domestic animals (Rowan). Nationally, around four million animals are killed in animal

Normally these animals are domestic such as dogs, cats, horses, and so on. Most people like to

that promote no kill help to eliminate the idea of controlling pet population. It has been a proven

argue the fact that killing is the answer because it eliminates population and saves money but in
fact it does not. No kill is smarter financially and a wonderful choice to improve local communities
economy. Switching to no kill comes with great savings, increased support from communities,
boosts in adoption rates and a positive image. With the positives that come along with the no kill is

  • 2. Introduction. Erik Erickson’S Interest In How One’S... Introduction Erik Erickson s interest in how one s environment and social interaction drives human behavior and the development of personality, led him to create the psychosocial theory, Eight Stages of Man. Erikson s final four stages of psychosocial development describes a person s development from adolescence to late adulthood. This paper will analyze the final four stages of development, which includes: Adolescence, Young Adulthood, Middle Adulthood, and Late Adulthood. However, one of the major criticisms of the stage theories is that they do not equally apply to all individuals. Each stage of development looks different depending on a person s culture, gender, environment, etc. This paper will analyze how each stage is impacted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 22). This stage may also be impacted by a person s sexual identity. According to Levy (2009), sexual identity is not simple or clean cut and does not stand alone. It intersects with other aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, religion, education, and so forth (p. 982). What is considered normal sexual behavior does not constitute homosexuality. Therefore, adolescents who are struggling with their sexuality, may run into an identity crisis by trying to find themselves while trying to appeal to societal norms. While the pressure to conform to the heterosexual norm, gays and lesbians may struggle with their same sex desires. Further, with this schism between their desires, behaviors, and identities, individuals may experience isolation, low self esteem, depression, and anger (Levy, 2009, p. 983). Unsuccessful resolution of this crisis may lead to role confusion or identity diffusion (Robins et. all, 2012, p. 215). According to Robins et. Al (2012), youths who emerge with a strong sense of identity and individuality gain a lasting ego quality of fidelity, or freely pledged loyalties (p. 215). Intimacy Vs. Isolation Erik Erikson s sixth stag of psychosocial development is Young Adulthood (early to late 20s). Erikson describes this stage as the young adult develops ability to give and receive love; ... • 3. Wildlife Conservation Persuasive Essay Persuasive speech Oil drilling and coal mining are killing endangered wildlife, polluting rivers, creating smog over wilderness areas and blocking wildlife corridors in America s most treasured landscapes. Said conservation expert Lydia Millet. People are a main part of animal extinction. Endangered species are critical to our ecosystem. Without them the world would be unstable. Some of these species are slowly fading away and we need to defend them. The question people are asking is should we do more to save and defend animals, well I believe that that everyone should take measures to help benefit the survival of threatened animals. In this passage you will learn why species are endangered, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anyway at least some are trying to help by working at wildlife conservation and some states bare making wildlife corridors. Some people are even taking the time starting foundations to raise money to save these animals. There are other things that are helping save these animals like laws and polices ( to protect wildlife conservations), habitat restoration, and habitat reservation. The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. Said Mahatma Gandhi. This is why everyone should help. You may expect that it is necessary to devote your time money and energy into saving endangered animals, but you are mistaken. There are some simple things you can do to help such as recycling ( I mean thats not that hard), use less energy, choose sustainable products, clean up your actions, but more important make your voice heard, get involved, and spread the word it s that easy. I believe that everyone should take part in saving these animals. After listening to me you know why species are endangered, what is being done to save them, and how you can help. • 4. Role And Role Of Gender Inequality In Indian Society GENDER INEQUALITY IN INDIAN SOCIETY AND ROLE OF WOMEN S EDUCATION IN REMOVING GENDER INEQUALITY Abstract If we look in to the history, since ages women have been experiencing discrimination, viewed as less than fully human, considered as inferior brains, suffered a lot due to a lack of legal rights and with very little independence. Gender is a function of power relationship between men and women where men are considered superior to women in Indian society. Traditionally women are considered as weaker section and kept in a subordinate position to men. The level of discrimination differs from society to society, community to community; it depends upon the development stage of a particular society or nation. Patriarchy system is the root cause of gender inequality. Education is a key tool in bringing socio economic empowerment among women, which brings citizenry consciousness among women on their rights and duties. It promotes social, political, economical and cultural advancement of women. Educated women have proved to be no less than men in all fields. • 5. Uc Davis Rhetoric Presence Summary Rhetoric Awareness Among Scientists: an ethnographic study describing the language used in the Center for Neuroscience at UC Davis Synopsis The Center for Neuroscience (CN) is a complex, large community that sparked my interest to do an ethnographic endeavor. This group provides benefits to our society by conducting modern neurobiology research and coaching future neurobiologists. The purpose of this ethnographic study is to have a better understanding of how this discourse community functions as an entity. My study will focus on the methods that the CN uses to communicate. As a member of the CN, I want to take a step back and explore, from the perspective of an outsider, the rhetoric mechanisms that make their goals achievable. Background: The Center for Neuroscience (CN) at UC Davis is an interdisciplinary group that focuses on learning and memory research. The members of this discourse community vary in age (20 years and older), educational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process to enter this group starts with getting access to the Center for Neuroscience building. The door is always locked and only members of the community have access, granted by the PIs, to enter. This observation reveals how selective the community is. Once inside, the building resembled a maze with identical walls decorated with posters. The 40 by 60 posters are an example of a genre employed by this community (Artifact 1). Every wall is covered in colorful posters with published scientific work from members of the community. As I walked to Dr. Gray s office, the posters in the perimeter only had work from his laboratory. The same trend appeared for other labs. This suggests that the laboratories have designated spaces where they can highlight their contribution to the overall goals of the CN. The posters serve as a method of communication among the members since they can easily read each other s works and provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of My Neighbour Totoro The adventurous, visually enchanting animated Japanese movie, My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released in 1988 in Japan, attempts to show the viewers the innocence and the sense of community in Japan before the prevalent industrialization and economic boom. The movie is set in the countryside away from the big industrialized cities. The main characters are the schoolgirl, Satsuki Kusakabe, and her younger sister, Mei Kusakabe. Their days are brightened thanks to the spirit of the forest, Totoro. Hayao Miyazaki, who is born in 1941, is incorporating his own childhood in the film. Furthermore, he focuses on the historical time the movie is set. Meanwhile, noting that the movie is made in 1988 which is during the period of the economic bubble, he reminds us of the simple Japan in the 1950s before the economic boom occupied the people of this country. In contrast to the past, people who live in the city area do not get involved with one another s business despite how Japan has practiced chonaikai for having an intimate sense of community within the neighbourhood ever since the revival of chonaikai after World War 2. Hayao Miyazaki is able to reveal this specific ambience of the Japanese community in the movie when the Kusakabe s neighbours, a young boy, and grandmother, come to help the Kusakabe family move into their new old rotten house. It is also seen when all the neighbours nearby help Satsuki look for her lost sister. Although the neighbours do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we realize that it is God s Way of Living that we really should be desiring, we will understand that He is the only one who can teach us how to be replenished, how to be refreshed. Are You Tired Yet? When one has children, they do what they can to lead them in the right direction. When you tell them something to do and they want to do it their own way , at some point, you let them so that they can see how that works out for them. Often, they will find that their method did not give them the outcome they desired so they must backtrack and follow your instructions. The result: Their Desired Outcome. This model is how God handles us. He gives us instruction and leads us in the right direction but we think that we know what we are doing so we choose to do things our way. We find ourselves running around, getting worn out but not even going anywhere. How is that working out? Just as we have the BEST intentions for our children, God has the BEST intentions for us. We must learn to follow His instructions, otherwise, we will find ourselves going in unnecessary circles. God has given us all the principles that we need to manifest abundance in our lives. Yunus also explains how the social business model could redeem the failed promise of the free enterprise model. III.Reflection After reading the first two chapters of Building Social Business, I was moved. I was inspired. Yunus opened my eyes to another side of business which in his words was selfless. And indeed it was selfless. Social business is truly selfless because it focuses on helping others and earning profit comes second. By reading this book and reflecting, I realized it is better to be part of the solution than be part of the problem. By looking at my community, at my environment, and at my experiences in life, there are problems that will need solutions and I firmly believe that having a social business is the solution. By my observation, slow public utilities, expensive medicine, and empowering marginalized sectors are problems that can be solved by putting up social businesses. By combining entrepreneurial mindset and experience, social awareness, and creativity, the ideal social business can be done. But what makes a social business truly a social business is the ... • 9. Causes And Actions In Arthur Miller s The Crucible The Crucible was written in 1953 by an American playwright named Arthur Miller. The play was written about the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1692. In the play, a jealous young girl who is angered by her ex lover deciding to be with his wife starts a movement to accuse people of being witches in a last attempt to be with him. But the accusing isn t the only time that falsehoods are told; instead, they are present throughout the play, deep in the story, making people twist and turn to lay the blame on other people. Some of the characters pretended to be possessed to avoid punishment, and others confessed to sins they never committed. Those acts are just a few examples of the lies that took place throughout the story. The key driving factor of all the actions and main plot elements that took place in Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, were driven by lies and deceit because all the actions throughout the play can be routed back to them. Arthur Miller wrote this play at a time in America where people were being persecuted for their political beliefs, especially communism, which the idea that all property is publically owned and each person is paid based off their abilities and need. Arthur Miller did not share this belief, but he had many friends who did; therefore, he too was being persecuted. He wrote this play because the Salem witch trials reminded him of the situation he was in, where someone could accuse him of something he never did and have no evidence, but he could still be considered guilty. In this play, several young girls start a process of accusing people of being witches, and even though they have no proof, these claims are taken seriously and the people are investigated and some are even hanged. The girls start off the story by sneaking out of their various houses to go to the woods in the middle of the night. In the woods, they run around, and dance, and throw things in the fire, and one girl, Abigail, even drinks chicken blood and asks to be with her ex lover, John Proctor, who is married and has three children. The girls get caught by Reverend Parris, uncle to Abigail and father to Betty, another one of the young girls present during the inciting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Ginsburg V. City Of Ithaca And Cornell University Case Study Title: Ginsburg v. City of Ithaca and Cornell University et al., 839 F. Supp. 2d. 537 (N.D.N.Y. 2012). Parties: Plaintiff: Howard I. Ginsburg, as Administrator of the Estate of Bradley Marc Ginsburg, Defendants: City of Ithaca and Cornell University. Court: United States District Court. Procedural posture: The case is before the Northern District of New York after the plaintiff, Howard I. Ginsburg, filed an amended petition as the administrator of the estate of his deceased son, Bradley Marc Ginsburg, asking that the City of Ithaca and Cornell University be held negligent for Bradley s wrongful death as well as personal injuries and conscious pain and suffering. Facts: On or about February 16 or 17, 2010, a freshman Cornell student, Bradley Ginsburg, committed suicide after jumping to his death off the Thurston Avenue Bridge in Ithaca, New York. Investigation showed that Bradley exhibited no visible warning signs associated with someone thinking about ending their life, but the father alleged that the City of Ithaca and Cornell University failed to take appropriate precautions to secure the bridge after 26 prior suicides on it and the other six bridges near campus between 1990 and 2010. Issues: 1) Did Cornell University through planning with the City of Ithaca exercise sufficient control over the design, construction, and maintenance of the Thurston Avenue Bridge where they could not be held liable for any alleged hazards on the bridge that might cause injuries or death? 2) Did the City of Ithaca and Cornell University takes adequate steps to ensure the safety of individual s using the bridge at any time after the prior deaths were committed? Holdings: 1) No. Between the years of 2006 through 2007 Cornell University played a major part in the City of Ithaca s redesign and rebuilding of the Thurston Avenue Bridge but was irresponsible due to their failure to express the importance of adding railings and other preventive suicide measures over aesthetics even with the prior knowledge of past suicidal events. Her works mostly present a theme of women pursue freedom and equality. The Story Of An Hourand The Awakening are her representative works. In these two works, Kate Chopinreveals how women lived under the oppression of male dominated society, especially for women who got married. They were not financially independent and their freedom and rights were deprived. Therefore female were forced to be an angle in the home . Both challenge the preconception that women can only be a housekeeper and marriageis the only way out. The Story of an Hour was narrated by the third person. The main character Mrs. Mallard is a housewife and she has a heart trouble. Her Husband dies in a railroad disaster. When she heard the news, she did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, with a paralyzed inability to accept its significance. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms (Pg 93). She did not cry out immediately, she seems shocked for a while and suddenly break out. From my opinion, she isn t shocked, she is surprised. She is not just cry for the death of Mr. Mallard, but also for the free life that she s going to live. She has been trapped and pressed for so long. Husband s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

University Health Systems is the leading trauma center for South Texas.. The medical benefits that are offered can only be used within the organization and the family medical offices. The University Health Systems is a large organization that is part of the medical school; as well it is the County Hospital where all the inmates go for treatment. They are expecting every employee to use or go though the county clinics to seek treatment, which is a challenge in itself as the clinics, are so busy on any given day or night. There are many reasons to rethink the compensation and benefits that this organization offers employees. They do offer a large PTO amount each payday; however that is used for everything such as, sick leave, holiday pay, and vacations. If one of the departments is closed for the holiday then you are forced to take PTO even if you do not want to. During the first year of employment, full time staff accrues 28 days at the rate of 8.62 hours every two weeks. The accrual rate increases with each year of full time service, up to a rate of 38 days per year (University Health Systems, 2015). Another benefit that is offered is a 457 account in which the company will match 25 cents on the dollar. That is not a very good retirement plan. Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior s If a war was to take place, and the Spartans are the enemy warriors, you better pray to god you live to breathe another day. Railroads changed the Montana Territory. The first transcontinental railroad, connected Chicago, Illinois, with Sacramento, California, was finished in 1869, but the track was far south from the Montana Territory. The settlers needed a railroad passing through it to bring more people. Violent crime in this territory started up vigilantes. Developed by Edna Foa, prolonged exposure therapy exposes patients to their traumatic event over and over again while being in a safe place (Blankenship 277). Although prolonged exposure therapy is one treatment it has four main elements including education, breathing retraining, in vivo exposure, and imaginal exposure. Education consists of learning about the treatment, treatment symptoms, and goals of the treatment. Breathing retraining helps patients to relax and calm themselves when they become anxious. In vivo exposure allows patients with PTSD to be put in real life situations that they are not comfortable with due to the trauma they have faced. Lastly, imaginal exposure allows the patients with post traumatic stress disorder to talk through their traumatic event while it is recorded. After repeatedly talking through their event, the patient then listens to what they have said (Swan 28). Prolonged exposure therapy occurs over eight to fifteen sessions. Each session can range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the patient and their specific needs (Blankenship 278). This treatment helps patients with post traumatic stress disorder by allowing them to face their fears associated with the traumatic event and gain control over their emotions (Swan 28). It is a country where everyone is welcomed and treated equally. He expresses his confusion about the real definition of America when he talks about how the people in America are into racism and differences despite the country being made up of immigrants. The author asserts that America does exist, first by defining America, and by showing the inter connection between people born from different regions of the world. The responsibility of the people is to stop being racist and staying with the people of own origin only but reaching out and mixing with others as one nation. Initially I understood this theory to apply primarily to text that deals with changes in a culture and conflict between past and current values. With this understanding, I was interested in analyzing the relationship between the pagan values present in the story before it was recorded in writing and the Christian values that became incorporated in the epic as it was written. The first example that I found is on page 38 of our textbook, lines 91 97, and describes the story of creation as told by the poets entertaining in Heorot. This reference to Christian concepts would likely not have been present in the original pagan story. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator. Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. On page 40, lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more apparent as the author tells of pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes (translated) that they know not how to praise the Prince of Heaven. Jumping to page 65, lines 1269 1273, Beowulf is described as having called upon the strength and comfort of God to overcome Grendel. Similarly, on lines 2328 2330, Beowulf believed that he had angered the lord and that the burning of his hall and the surrounding lands by a dragon was caused by his breaching of ancient law. According to David Leverenz, in an important essay called The Woman in Hamlet. Hamlet s disgust at the feminine passivity in himself is translated into violent revulsion against women, and into his brutal behaviour towards Ophelia. Ophelia s suicide, Leverenz argues, then becomes a microcosm of the male world s banishment of the female, because woman represents everything denied by reasonable men. To liberate Ophelia from the text, or to make her its tragic center, is to re appropriate her for our own ends; to dissolve her into a female symbolism of absence is to endorse our own marginality; to make her Hamlet s anima is to reduce her to a metaphor of male experience. I would like to propose instead that Ophelia does have a story of her own that feminist criticism can tell; it is neither her life story, nor her love story, nor Lacan s story, but rather the history of her representation. This essay tries to bring together some of the categories of French feminist thought about the feminine with the empirical energies of American historical and critical research; to yoke French theory and Yankee knowhow. Once the concentration of NaOH was known, it could be used to calculate the mols of acetic acidin a known volume of vinegar, giving us the concentration. In order to induce a change in the color of the solution, it must become slightly basic, this means that more NaOH was added than was actually required to neutralize the acetic acid. This error would indicate that the concentration of acetic acid was slightly higher than it really is; unfortunately, it is unavoidable with the current experiment setup. Depending on the traumatic event, the process to recovering will be different and the result will too be different. • 34. Integrative Case 1 Chapter 2 The Financial Market Environment ( Instructor s Resources Overview Money and capital markets and their major components are introduced in this chapter. Firms need to raise capital in order to survive. Financial institutions give firms access to the money they need to grow. However, greed can drive financial managers and institutions to commit actions that get them into trouble and even force bankruptcy. These bankruptcies result in limited capital flows to firms, and both they and the whole economy can suffer. Therefore, financial institutions and markets should be well regulated. The key securities traded in the capital markets are bonds plus common and preferred stock. 5.The broker market consists of national and regional securities exchanges. These organizations provide a location, such as the New York Stock Exchange, to bring together the buyers and sellers of debt and equity. They create a continuous market for securities, allocate scarce capital, determine and publicize security prices, and aid in new financing. In contrast, dealer markets are electronic markets for the buyers and sellers of securities not listed on the major exchanges. In a dealer market, physical trading locations are replaced by security dealers who offer to buy or sell securities at stated bid/ask prices. Efficient Market Hypothesis an The quote shows a strong relation to the efficient market hypothesis (EMH), as it implies that the costs of capital are dependent from the amount of information given by the company. According to my opinion, agency theory is a good explanation for costs of capital. Agency theory defines contracts as under which one party #8211; called principal #8211; engages another party #8211; called the agent #8211; to perform service on the principal #8217;s behalf. Concluding, the principal delegates decision making authority to the agent. This leads into either one standard for accounting procedures or different standards with firms obliged to mention which standard they have chosen. In the past, business fought constantly against the uniformation of standards and the problem of the latter suggestion is that it needs skilled users to evaluate the impact of the different standards on the financial statement. As only a limited group will be able to do this, the number of possible financers is reduced. Capital could become more expensive since in free market systems a broader supply of capital should result into lower prices for capital and the reverse effect is true. Further, accounting has difficulties to clearly measure performance and the value of assets. Therefore, many different methods exist as historical cost, present value, current replacement costs, net realisable value, and deprival value accounting and all are reasonable in their approaches. Trust of the public means more trust in managements #8217; behaviour. This is reflected in less monitoring and reduced bonding costs. The former reduction is obvious and with good experience in more trustworthy relationships the monitoring mechanisms should decrease. As these costs decrease, so should the costs of capital decrease caused by a decrease of interest expense or dividend payout. None of them stands out as a single winner in explaining everything about aging but in fact, they are all interconnected and together they explain the possible process of aging. This assignment attempts to explore the research based avenues which could possibly help Mickey live significantly longer than Minnie, based on the assumption that Mickey and Minnie inherit the same genetic programme but follow different life styles. Different authors and researchers define aging differently. Aging has been defined by Balducci(2007) as a loss of entropy and fractality. Loss of entropy implies a progressive reduction in an individual s functional reserve, whereas loss of fractality implies a progressive reduction in the ability to coordinate different activity and negotiate the environment . Yet another definition which would encapsulate the wider meaning of the term aging is aging as a multifaceted phenomenon associated with decrements in cellular and physiological functions, increases in the incidence of numerous degenerative diseases and diminished capacity for responding to stress (Beckman and Ames, 1998). One aspect of Lulu that is not incorporated into the earlier 19th century image of a prostitute is the prospect of marriage. In his works, several characters, such as Simon and Piggy, represent the more formal side of Man. However, protagonists, like Ralph, transition from their diplomatic selves to savagery. This supports the claim Golding and I share that at his core, all Man is still barbaric even with his attempts at tamed behavior. In the story, a plane is struck down, crashing it on an isolated island. A number of boys, now distanced from civilization, survived. Throughout their times on the isle, many among the group tried to establish order and structure. These include Ralph, Piggy, and Simon, who resemble the accommodating side of society. During their time, Ralph was elected to be the leader, which established a form of jurisdiction and control. He comments, if it rains like when we dropped in we ll need shelters... This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the need for blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim into a vampire as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of fangs that are used to feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is something about burning red eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the whole vampire stereotypes. Despite not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met up with Dracula and had taken a lot of acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count. Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting the count for the first time, I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker 10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that comes to Harkers mind when he first sees the Count. The stereotype of vampires having red eyes is probably one of the most known stereotypes when it comes to the undead and the vampire genre.
