Netherlands Research Paper
Netherlands Culture The Netherlands is home to more than 16 million people and is home to what is
perhaps one of the most diverse and complex cultures on the continent of Europe. The Netherlands is
bounded by the North Sea to the north and west, Germany to the east, and Belgium to the south
(Michael J. Wintle, n.d.). One of the more densely populated countries in the world, the Netherlands
has a wide array of ethnic and ideological heritage. Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a
particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, and
arts (Kim Ann Zimmermann, 2015). Over the years, the Netherlands has been molded by many
categories such as heritage, geography, and military conflict, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Spain played a particularly large role during the early years of the nation, with England and France
also attempting to impose their will upon the Dutch. Victories against the Spaniards in the decades
following 1587 claimed many lands and helped to separate the Dutch as an independently governed
nation. Recognition by the English and French of Holland as individual also helped this cause. From
1621 1648 the Dutch were once again at war with Spain. At the onset of this war, the outcome did not
look well for the Netherlands, as Spain had captured Breda, an important fortress in the south.
Following this, however, the Dutch began to take back key pieces of land in the south and had several
pivotal naval victories against the Spanish. Included in these naval victories were Piet Heyn s
celebrated capture of the Spanish silver fleet, off the coast of Cuba, and the destruction of a Spanish
fleet in the Downs, off the English coast (Michael J. Wintle, n.d.). Following the signing of a treaty in
1648, the Spaniards now formally recognized the Netherlands as an independent state. The Dutch once
again experienced naval success in the 1670s against French forces. This time, the Netherlands
succeeded in driving away France, and pushing England out of its territories. Throughout the next
century, or more, the Dutch clashed with French, English, and Prussian forces. Dutch patriots played a
key role in taking back the land with help from the

Habituation of Exploratory Behavior in Rats
Abstract
This study investigated the effects of displaced objects and spatial reorganization on habituation of
exploratory behavior. The subjects, rats, each individually spent 5 minutes in an open field for 6 trials.
Throughout the study, exploratory behavior was measured in the number of contacts the subject made,
the number of ambulations, and contact time (seconds). Trials 1 5 were mainly used to familiarize the
subject with its surroundings, naturally leading to decreasing amounts of exploratory behavior. Trial 6
involves the same routine, except displaced objects are introduced in an attempt to renew exploratory
behavior and promote the building up of environmental maps and representations. Additionally, the
measured behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this present study, behavior tests were used in order to determine the likelihood of renewed
exploratory behavior in a familiar environment after the introduction of displaced objects.
Additionally, renewed exploratory behavior seems to play a critical role in building environmental
maps, leading to the integration of new spatial relationships Poucet et al. (1986).
The primary aim of this experiment was to determine if rats would gain a renewal of exploratory
behavior due to displaced objects after habituation had settled in. Based on results from these
previously mentioned experiments, we hypothesized that subjects were capable of renewing
exploratory behavior in a spatially reorganized environment. However, this was under the assumption
that complications such as age and species type were inapplicable.
Method
Subjects
The subjects were Sprague Dawley male rats. Their age is 150 days. The supplier is Harlan Sprague
Dawley. They are maintained on a 12:12 h light/dark cycle and are provided with ad libitum access to
food.
Apparatus
Materials include an open field (OF) apparatus with a 6x6 grid drawn on the inside. Three objects, a
coca cola can, a plastic cylindrical container with rocks inside, and a plastic bear shaped bottle were
used as the objects.
Procedure
The study period included one week of familiarization and a second week devoted to experimentation.

Why Batman Is Better Than Spider-Man
Can Batman be a bit better than spider man? Batman can beat spider man using his own attacks
against him. One weapon batman can use to his advantage is the batarang, which can cut spider man s
silk, and has a variety of memes funnier than spider man s memes. Spider man s life is not as bad as
Batman s life, because of his parents dying; He then becomes dark and more dank than Spider man.
Spider man got his powers from a radioactive spider, while Batman got his powers from seeing his
parents die from a scrub like thug that has no life and no memes.
Villains were created for Spider man to make his life worse, because he got lucky he didn t die from
getting bit from the radioactive spider. Batman got lucky he didn t get shot by the wannabe thug. ...

Spider man s life is worse than batman s because, his grandfather said the more luckier someone is
than the other, they will have bad luck paired with them to balance life out. Same goes for bad luck,
when it is also paired with good luck for balancing life because if balancing was filthy, nothing would
be possible in the universe. For battles against the villains, spider man used his silk and the
environment for his advantage, while Batman also used the environment to his advantage, he had also
used his intelligence for the upper hand in battles. Bats and spiders do relate to their thinking like both
batman and spider man unlike some spiders, some do not need silk to catch their prey.
Jumping spiders never need silk. They can hop almost forty times their body weight. Some people like
jumping spiders because they look cute up close, while others think spiders are ugly and bushy. Some
people despise the arachnids because they look creepy and crawly, but it is more scared of people than
of spiders. Spiders are usually scared of humans because they are smaller than humans and the fact
they can be out runned. Bats are a different story compared to all the animals in the

An Introduction To Private Health Insurance
INTRO
Private health Insurance is a $1.42 billion (before tax) industry in Australia (Seah, 2012) and has
played a prominent role in the country s health system for over 60 years. As of 2009, 51per cent of the
Australian population was covered by some form of private health insurance. Private health insurance
is a regulated industry; this means it is controlled by government legislation under the Private Health
Insurance Act (2007). Private health insurers are required to register under this Act, and the policies
they sell must adhere to these regulations (Shamsullah, 2011). Due to the size and regulation of the
industry managers in the sector may face many complex challenges.
Complex management has been around for thousands of years. Basic management tools that were
used in the past have formed the foundations of the theories that have shaped today s management
practices. One of the major challenges in today s organisational environments is the
interconnectedness of all management aspects. It can be difficult for leaders to identify the exact
problem, the cause of the problem and what relevant information (within the available abundance) is
relevant and could be used to address problems (Maznevski, 2007). This study aims to analyse the
issues and problems faced by HealthCo and provide potential solutions and recommendations to
enhance management and business success.
BACKGROUND:
HealthCO is a longstanding, leading company in the Australian health insurance industry.

Industrial Revolutions
Historically, industrial revolutions have caused the most notable changes in work. The First Industrial
Revolution, driven by steam, and the Second Industrial Revolution, driven by electricity, led to an
increase in technology, production, and jobs especially among women, as illustrated by the photo of
Rosie the Riveter, depicting a woman in the workforce urging other women to engage in employment
(Human Development Report; Miller). While there had been fears of future unemployment due to the
rapid rise in machines performing the tasks of people, in 1962, President John F. Kennedy quelled
these fears by claiming, If men have the talent to invent new machines that put men out of work, they
have the talent to put those men back to work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early in A World Without Work, The Atlantic expresses fear for future employment by predicting an
era of technological unemployment (Thompson 7). However, The Atlantic also notes, The U.S. labor

readers, ice cutters, and typists, now, those occupations as well as similar jobs have been eliminated
due to the increased role that technology has played. However, the United States Department of Labor
shows that new jobs are constantly appearing. In fact, During the Clinton Gore administration, more
than 19 million new jobs...[were] created a rate of growth more than twice that of the previous decade.
High technology industries account for one million of these new jobs ( Futurework ). With the

Critical Analysis Of Self Leadership And Positive Psychology
Introduction
Utilising a combined self leadership and positive psychology perspective, I will self analyse my
strengths and weaknesses through the use of questionnaires completed throughout the semester to gain
a deeper understanding of my personality traits in my chosen career. The career path I have chosen is
Human Resources (HR) and everything analysed will be in respect of that path.
A definition of self leadership is the process of influencing oneself to establish the self direction and
self motivation needed to perform (Manz, 1995). Positive Psychology is the study of the conditions
and processes that contribute to the flourishing or optimal functioning of people, groups, and
institutions (Gable Haidt, 2005; Sheldon King, 2001).
Critical analysis of Self leadership and Positive Psychology
Self leadership is very important for a number of reasons, including:
1. To enhance job effectiveness and develop personally and professionally.
2. To achieve career potential and growth such as promotions, salary increases, job satisfaction and job
choice.
3. To enhance individual and group well being such as health and happiness.
4. Becoming an emotionally intelligent professional capable of leading effectively.
By gaining a clearer understanding of self leadership the elements of positive psychology can be
incorporated. Positive psychology looks at the circumstances and processes that enable individuals,
teams and organisations to grow and develop at a high level.

and attain fulfilment in their lives. This message is depicted in the commercial using peripheral cues
that appeal to our inner fears, and it can be seen through the following frameworks.

It hopes to empower its audiences, help them pursue infinite possibilities and take control of their
lives. However, the conflict seems to suggest otherwise that people should resign to their fate and
dreams are far fetched ideas.
The Hero: The Adventurer, The Magician and The Brave Hero
Being the Adventurer, Sony s PlayStation challenges the audience to break free from the constraints of
daily life, and to bravely explore new grounds to discover new potentials. As the Magician, it gives
them control of the game characters lives and shows them that dreams can come true as long as one
puts their hearts to achieving it. Lastly, the Brave Hero challenges our inner fears of feeling
unaccomplished and encourages us to believe in ourselves. By doing so, everyone can realise their
potential as a winner and learn to take pride in gaining control of our lives.
The Plot: The Ugly Duckling
The PlayStation project faced much difficulty in launching due to the initial collaboration fallout with
Nintendo, and strong opposition from board members and older Sony executives. Many did not
believe in its potential. However, the project team s persistence gave the PlayStation a chance to
succeed and prove its critics wrong. It has the power to change people s lives, transform experiences,
and help them achieve the accomplishment they lacked in real life. This influence is reiterated in their
slogan, Do Not Underestimate The Power of PlayStation. ,

I got married when i was 12 years old to Princess Maria of Tver. When Vasily II of Moscow died in

Donald Trump s Campaign Against Hillary Clinton
Donald Trump has run a very long and very hard fought campaign against his opponent Hillary
Clinton. His closing acceptance speech has shown us how much his character has drastically changed
in contrast to how he ran his entire campaign. Throughout his campaign to become president Donald
Trump degraded women, bashed the disabled, and had plans to build walls to keep families from being
together. He seems to be everything we didn t need for our next president and now shockingly enough
in his winning acceptance speech he has become a whole new man, thanking and congratulating the
Clinton campaign and posing as a humble acceptor of his new presidential title. As Donald Trump
thanked and congratulated the Clinton campaign after winning the 2016 presidential election we saw a
remarkable change in his character. This sudden shift raises the concern of many Americans
wondering why he has suddenly changed his plans for his presidential reign versus how he ran his
campaign. Donald Trump s campaign was thought of as a joke all the way up until he was actually
elected as our next president of the United States of America. People even went so far as to vote for

Enjolras
It s better to die standing than to live on your knees. (Guevara) A Cuban revolutionist, Che Guevara,
said this during his fight for his country. Taking a stand for what is right requires courage and
determination. The men and women who fought at the barricade fought with more than just their
voice. For instance, the movie and the book Les Miserables by Victor Hugo covers why they rebelled,
but there is more to wishing for a better day than what is seen from above the clear water. The
barricade battle was the most layered scene that showed that the men and women were fighting with
purpose, and did not die senselessly. One of the leaders at the barricade who was a big part of the
movement was Enjolras. During the musical version he expressed ... Show more content on

The barricade was a moving scene that expressed this beautifully. Victor Hugo describes the lives of
men and women that were very unforgiving and glum. There is a point at which the unfortunate and
the infamous are associated and confounded in a single word, a fatal word, Les Miserables. (Wilbur)
The book centered around this idea. Throughout the book and at the barricade, the men and women
were described in this way exactly. Victor Hugo brought characters to life with his words to show that
life does get tough, but don t let it take everything away. Victor Hugo also stated this, People weighed
down with troubles do not look back; they know only too well that misfortune stalks them. (Wilbur)
This quote describes many of the characters throughout the book. They were powerful and tried not to
let their misfortunes get to them. Turmoil and pain are anchors that get tied to a person s foot and still
expected to stay afloat. The characters in the book came together and helped each other swim and not

Eric Maria Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front
The effects of war on young people lead to the regression of humanity. This statement will be proved
by referring to the novel by Eric Maria Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front, poems from
Wilfred Owen, Anthem of the Doomed Youth,, To any dead officer , They as well as Christ and the

pieces like Mealtime and Feeling wounded by Otto Dix and Egon Schiele s portrait of Reserve
Lieutenant Heinrich Wagner and portrait of an Officer. When referring to the above mentioned genres
we will be focusing on the dehumanisation, demoralisation and disillusionment of war that leads to the
regression of humanity.
One of the paramount effects of war on young people is the dehumanization of humanity.
Dehumanization is the psychological occurrence of demonizing the enemy or one self, manufacture
them to appear less than human and therefore not worthy of humane behaviour (Maiese, 2003).
Maiese (2003) adds that it can lead to amplified viciousness, human rights violations, war corruptions,

The NTSC signal includes extra information space known as the subcarrier and Vertical blanking
interval. As explained in the quotation from Mr. Marquis, the V chips will use a certain section of this
space to send simple rating numbers and points that will be compared to the personality settings in the
chip. Many new technologies are being developed for smart TV or data broadcast on this part of the
NTSC signal. Basically the V chip will severely limit the bandwidth for high performance
transmission of data on the
NTSC signal. There is also to be cost to this new technology, which will be passed to consumers.
Estimates are that each chip will cost six dollars wholesale and must be designed into the television s
logic. The V chip could easily push the price of televisions up by twenty five or more dollars during
the first years of production. The much simpler solution of set top boxes allows control for those who
need it and allow those consumers who don t to save money and use new data technology. Another
cost will most definitely be levied to television advertisers for the upgrade of the transmitting
equipment. Weather the V chip encoding signal is added upstream of the transmitter or directly into
uplink units and other equipment intended for broadcast; this cost will have to compensated for in
advertising sales and prices. The V chip regulation may also require another staff employee at most
stations to effectively rate locally

The Great Debate About College Roommates
The Great Debate about College Roommates In most cases, for people who once attended college they
either consider it the best years of their life or a horror show. They may feel this way because of the
experiences they had, classes they took, or the people they met, like perhaps their roommate. In the
New York Times article, A College Education Should Include Rooming with a Stranger , Anna Altman
explains the effects of having a roommate in college. Anna Altman claims college freshman already
have a lot to adjust to in their first weeks, including the new living arrangements in the life of the
dorms and meeting a new person that now shares the same home as them. With the help of preference
options when applying for dormitory housing, the simple aspects of assigning two college attendees to
one room has improved over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Altman adds that even though colleges try their best to make the match between roommates
as smooth as possible, it does not always work out that way for everyone during their first year away
from home. Altman suggests, ...that approach is no longer sufficient . She quotes Natasha Singer, also
a reporter for the New York Times, saying ...the problem of getting stuck with an incompatible
freshman year roommate can be expensive for the college. Moving students around within dorms can
be a headache, but there s even more at stake: the risk that students will be so unhappy that they might
transfer out of the college before sophomore year. The issues Altman presents through Natasha Singer
s words for unhappy roommates in college are both direct and indirect. Some of the horror stories told
by alumni are about the struggle they went through to find the right roommate after many failed
attempts of changing dorms and testing uncharted waters with a new peer. Some of these unfortunate
people consider the struggles too great and quit college all together. In turn, colleges lose tuition
money

The Broken Window Theory Of Crime
Criminologist James Q. Wilson and George Kelling developed the Broken Window theory . According
to their theory they believed that crime is the inevitable result of disorder (Gladwell 155). The broken
window theory is known as a disorder and as chaos, therefore, crimes become an issue due to the fact
that the impression of no one being in charge causes crimes to happen one after another and worsening
along the way. An example often used is a broken window, which leads to another broken window, to
graffiti, to loitering, etc. The disorder, the chaos and the abandonment of something or a place causes
crimes to be followed one after another crime is contagious (Gladwell 155). According to the broken
window theory, broken windows should not be left alone. They should be fixed in order for crime to
decrease; therefor broken windows should not be tolerated due to the fact that it may cause an increase
of crimes as well. The rise of a question then forms from this theory, because many departments use
the broken window theory. Officers are known for keeping the law and keeping order. The officers are
given a duty of addressing minor life threatening offenses and social disorder, which prevents major
crimes to happen. They are to disapprove and stop crimes. But is the broken window theory broken
itself when it comes to law enforcement. Could they be doing more wrong than actually doing well?
Because officers are not only stopping crimes, but they are causing more trouble

Louis Pasteur And Lister
Pasteurization and Listerine came from the names of pioneers against germs, who improved the
affects of medicine. Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then Joseph
Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work eliminated some of
the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis Pasteur and Joseph
Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during the Industrial
Revolution.
Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness
throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness
protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a
success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light
the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization.
Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, founded the concept of temperature as a way to kill
germs. He showed that microorganisms caused liquids such as milk, wine and beer to spoil. He
invented a process in association with Claude Bernard in which liquids such as milk were heated to
kill bacteria and moulds present and then cooled to normal temperature (Louis Pasteur Famous
Inventors). Discovered in 1864, Pasteurization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

recovery. Together they are remembered for their contribution to modern medical science, and so it is
appropriate that a process and product are named for

Why Is Cultural Imperialism Wrong
Europe swept into many underdeveloped countries and colonized them. Europe introduced these
nations to modern technology and Christianity. Some would even say that Europe saved these
underdeveloped nations. What those people don t understand is that these countries were overthrown.
These nations were the unwilling victims of imperialization. As a result, they were forced to give up
their land, adhere to a new government and new religion, and those who didn t obey were murdered in
cold blood. Imperialism is wrong and no country has the right to impose their values on another.
Although Europe made excuses for the colonization of other nations, there is no valid reasoning for
their actions. It was wrong of them to overthrow nations as they did. ... Show more content on

James Petras states, We must reconsider the profound psychological impact of state violence, political
terror, and the deep penetration of cultural / ideological values propagated by the imperial countries
and internalized by the oppressed peoples. The victims of cultural imperialism become inherently
fearful than their oppressor and the oppressors become arrogant and of the belief that they are superior
to the oppressed nation and its people. James Petras goes on to say, The state violence of the 1970s
and early 1980s created long term, large scale psychic damage fear of radical initiatives, distrust of
collectives, a sense of impotence before established authorities even as the same authorities are hated.
The violence committed during colonized creates a fear in the people, they become helpless and lose
all hope. Many would argue that imperialism is not oppression, that in fact, Europe is doing these
nations a favor by introducing these nations to modern technology and Christianity. This argument is
simply wrong. The countries being colonized are not wanting of these modern technologies and
practice their own religions. Forcing these things on an unwilling nation results in oppression and

culture really is. United States is one of the largest countries in the world whom can be defined as a
melting pot in which a variety of different people come together as one. However, even though the

The ninth (and most recently discovered by Gardner) intelligence is Existential intelligence: the ability
to construct and analyze questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life (McFarlane,
2011). Because the ninth intelligence is new, there has not been much evidential research on it
(Ormrod, 2014, p.121) and therefore, I will not mention it in my examples of ways to incorporate
Gardner s Multiple Intelligences into the classroom. Gardner proposes that because these eight types
of intelligences are biologically based, they are malleable and therefore capable of evolving (Aborn,
2006). Aborn points out that Gardner s theory is drastically different from many previous widely
accepted intelligence philosophies, such as the Stanford Binet IQ Test, which is based on...one type of
[genetic] intelligence...and [remains] fixed throughout life (2006, p. 83). Furthermore, it must be noted
that the Multiple Intelligences theory suggests that each individual person is born with capabilities in
all eight intelligences. According to Thomas Armstrong, in his book, Multiple Intelligences in the
Classroom, 3rd Edition (2009): Some people appear to possess extremely high levels of functioning in
all or most of the eight intelligences... Other people, such as...severely

He sheds off all his ascetic ways and becomes a samsara i.e. a worldly man. After some time the
monotony of this life catches up with him and he feels the need to move forward. This marks the end
of the second phase of his life. He plunges into the third phase sorrowful not having found true sense

The vocabulary is simple and yet striking. The theme is so powerful in itself that probably Orwell
regarded that the use of simple vocabulary would still be equally prominent. It certainly brings out the
beauty of the narrative. The plot unfolds in a way that is easily predictable. There is a definite
beginning, middle and an end. George Orwell primarily uses first person narrative (which is Winston s
perspective) to unfold the story. He also sometimes shifts to a third person narrative. Thus this dual
use of narrative helps the story to open up on two distinct levels. One is personal, from the point of
view of the character that lives the story. The other is a general perspective which is open to

Gardening And The Life Cycle Of A Plant
I did my project with Taylor McNeil and we decided to focus our world on gardening. When we were
assigned this project, we brainstormed some different ideas that our world could revolve around. The
first idea that we had was the season of Fall. We thought that it would be a great idea to revolve our
world around fall because it was the season that we are currently in but then we decided to do
something different. Some of our other ideas included birthdays, recycling, and gardens. We then
narrowed it down between two choices, gardening and recycling. Both of us are passionate about our
environment and so these topics were extremely intriguing. We then decided that we were the most
interested in gardening and selected it to be our world. Gardening is a pretty broad topic so we
focussed more on the reason behind gardening and the life cycle of a plant. When looking at all the
Common Core Standards there were many standards that could be incorporated into a lesson about
gardening, so many that we chose six of them. The first one we chose was CCSS.ELA
LITERACY.RL.2.1. In this standard, students would ask and answer questions demonstrating that they
understand the text. A way to incorporate this into a classroom would be to ask students questions,
about gardening and plants, before you read aloud a book about gardens to them. Instead of having the
students answer the questions right away, have them think about these questions while you read aloud
the book. After you finish reading

Dog Psychological Disorders
We all love our fuzzy babies but, who would have thought dogs do have psychological issues just like
humans do. Have you ever thought about it? When you hear about a dog attacking a kid or adult have
you asked yourself what makes them snap or was there something psychologically wrong with the
dog? In this compare and contrast essay I am going to compare and contrast the differences and
similarities between common human and dog psychological disorders. Dogs struggle with
psychological disorders too, humans are not alone.
Canine Compulsive Disorder or CCD is like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (ODC) in humans.
Obviously dogs can not obsessively shower or wash them selves like humans do but they can
continuously lick themselves. Dogs repeat a certain behavior or action such as, obsessive licking or
tail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A cause of this could be that the dog had a bad experience with something in the past. Seeing an object
that reminds them of this can cause them to be stressed out or make them upset. One way to cure this
is to tackle this fear or phobia head on. For example, have the dog look at it and be in the same area as
the object for a certain time period. This will help the dog overcome the fear (Asher. C, 2017). You
could compare this to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD in humans. Veterans get this when they
come home from war, they experience similar feelings as the dogs do but in humans this is treated
with a lot of therapy and medication (H, 2017).
As you can see dogs and humans have similar psychological disorders and they are all treated in a
different way. Often dogs are used to help humans overcome certain disorders or as a comfort to help
with the disorder. Humans are not alone and dogs often struggle with the same disorders that humans
do. Who would have thought that dogs go through similar psychological disorders that humans do. So,

Work place safety practices always involve knowing what kinds of kinds of hazards are in the work
place. Hazards include short and long term effects of waste anesthetic gas, the storage for compressed
gas cylinders, and precautions of exposure to injectable anesthetic agents. A couple of hazards of
waste inhalant anesthetic gas would be inhaling the gases from the vaporizer, a spill of the anesthetic
liquid or the gas escaping the anesthetic machine during the time they are under anesthesia. For
handling the compressed gases properly, the use and storage of the cylinders are critical. The cylinders
need to be chained to the wall, they are required to be in an upright position, keep away from anything
that is flammable, they need to be put away from areas in the clinic that are busy, and empty and full

Revision Narrative
One of the biggest change I made was changing the narrator of the story. I decided to change it to a
third person narrator to give myself more flexibility in terms of description because I felt like the first
person narrator limited what I was able to describe. However, writing in the third person also proved
to be challenging. The different POV changed the tone and voice of the story. Plus I couldn t decide on
which girl was the main protagonist of the story. As I delved into both girls mind through third person

Now the subject of the story keep shifting between both girls.

Importance Of Model Risk
Model risk is one that results from using models which are insufficient in being able to guess the right
risk for the system. It is the risk of loss that props up from the fact when we make an incorrect
decision in the direction of approximation of risk. Also it is prevalent in more activities other than
financial securities validation etc. There are various kinds of model risks that can arise from using a
model which are: the wrong model which includes inapplicability of the model, incorrect model
specifications. Apart from that model implementation can also sometimes cause an error which is
programming related, or may be technical errors or even using inaccurate numerical approximations.
Also the usage of the model can bring about errors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore the first thing is to gain knowledge about the system and the functionalities that it is doing.
Once we have that then we need to analyse those areas of the production that might lead to a gap.
These gaps can be regarding timelines or also those timelines turning to financial risks.
Also these risks can lead to other risks in areas such as human resources, training and development
and accounting and financing also. Therefore any affected risk can infect other areas of the
organization and can cause an upheaval totally.
The very first thing that needs to be done in such a case is to make sure that we have complete
knowledge of the areas that are affected and how we can fix them. It is only when we have a complete
knowledge of the model that we shall be able to ascertain and then know the gaps that can later turn
into risks for the system. So the first task is to know the overall knowledge which can be gathered
form the research team and the knowledge and product owners. From this team we can gain a proper
knowledge as to how things are planned and the perspective of the things going on in the organisation.
Then comes the environment and release management teams that shall help me know with the exact
knowledge of the timelines (Rebonato, R., 2011).
So the very first course of action will be to sit with the stakeholders and decide the total changes that

Concept Of A Multiage Classroom And The Process Of Looping
For one to fully appreciate the concept of a multiage classroom and the process of looping, one must
understand first what it is, secondly, why it is, and thirdly, how it works. Understanding of what
multiage classrooms and looping are is due in large part to veteran and proactive teachers willing to
mix old school teaching styles with today s learners and methods. The idea of a multiage classroom
and the concept of looping are directly related to the classic 19th century setting of a one room school
house (Aina, 2001). In a one room school house, a single teacher was responsible for educating an
entire town s children, all of which varied in ages, grade levels, and abilities. Providing the teacher
remained unmarried or worked in a town where a married teacher was permitted to teach, children
often returned to the school house each year to the same teacher. This is where the concept of looping
and multiage classrooms originate. Imagine it s the first day of kindergarten and you are walking your
child to their classroom for the first time. Rather than a room full of shy, teary eyed kindergartners,
you enter a room that is alive with activity with students in grades kindergarten through second grade
gathered around the room at various tables working on morning work and getting reacquainted with
old friends. Among these students are returning first and second graders with new kindergarteners
mixed into every group. These students are part of an ongoing learning adventure

Metaphors By Duncanson Tennyson
An Intertextual Analysis
Tennyson is known for his word paintings the use of words that conjure pictures. Word paintings,
according to Benjamin are produced by the imagination and by certain tricks of light and colour which
produce the desired effect on the eye of the beholder (1931, p. 355). Stylistically, these word paintings
consist of metaphors and similes, and noun phrases that contain colour and sensory adjectives and
adverbs. Some examples from TLE (1969/1987, p. 469) that are instances of figurative language
include:
1. wavering lights, showery drops (noun phrases with adjectives)
2. dark faces, rosy flame (noun phrases with colour adjectives)
Although the painting by Duncanson shares some commonalities with the poem, it is different in some
ways. While highlighting these, I will provide pointers for further discussion on the topic. Tennyson s
poem begins with a description of the Lotus Eaters landing on the shores of the island, fatigued from
travelling (indicated by the use of the word courage by the protagonist Ulysses). Their time of arrival
(afternoon) in a land in which it seemed always afternoon (1987, p. 468) conjures the image of dull
sunlight; and the description of the waters as the slender stream along the cliff to fall and pause and
fall did seem (1987, p. 469) connotes the wayward movement of a narrow water body. Duncanson s
painting portrays this scene in the following manner: the use of a diffuse yellow colour denotes a land
where it

I think these lyrics represent my year very well because I over thought a lot of stuff throughout the
year. I also think this line of lyrics is similar to the first set of lyrics that I chose. For example on pretty
much every test I took during the year I would always over think and second guess myself on the
answer I put. So, that would result in me either getting the question wrong or just getting very stressed
and worrying about the grade I got on the test. I would worry and overthink the test or project for as
long time until finally the grade was put into skyward. Also, if I got a grade on a test, project,
homework assignment, etc. that I didn t like I would think a lot about what I was going to do to get
that grade up, but I spent so much time thinking about what I was going to do I hardly ever actually
tried to change it. Similar to my first example of why I said this song could be the theme song to my
eighth grade year, I would think about what I thought my final grade in that class would look like and
think whether or not re doing that assignment would help my grade in the end. I was so worried about
my math finals that I forgot I had a science test and so I didn t feel good about the science test while I

Harriet Tubman s Journeys In The Film The Power Of Good
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a rescuer is a person that saves someone or
something from a dangerous, harmful, or difficult situation. In the documentary, The Power of Good,
Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian, organized the transport and rescue of Jewish children from
Czechoslovakia right before World War II. This operation was later known as the Czech
Kindertransport. Another historical figure who saved people from harm was Harriet Tubman, an
African American abolitionist who led enslaved people to freedom along the Underground Railroad, a
vast network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe houses used by slaves in the U.S.
to escape bondage. Although Harriet Tubman and Nicholas Winton are both historical ... Show more

Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves from
bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped slaves could
be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the Underground
Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during the winter months
to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for protection and to ensure that
her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves
in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to
escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue
missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In December 1938, Winton visited a friend
who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian refugees in Sudetenland, the western area
of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard that there were no organizations to deal with
refugee children. He began writing letters asking governments to help these children, but only Britain
and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton, along with some volunteers, forged travel documents,
arranged foster parents for the children, and paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children
boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were
transported across the English Channel to Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children.
After the children arrived in Britain, Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on
September 1, 1939, after Germany invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control,
starting World War II. In total, Winton managed to orchestrate eight transports and saved

children have many negative feelings towards their controlling father. Throughout the whole novel,
Mr. Price acts very selfishly. The stressful move to Africa did not relieve his self centered ways. He
moved his family across the Atlantic Ocean and into a very different lifestyle than the one in which
they had currently been living. This was a very conceited act. Not only is Nathan greedy, he is also
stubborn as a mule. It s hard to imagine a mortal man more unwilling to change his course than
Nathan Price (Page 96). This is a problem for the entire family. His headstrong personality puts his
family in a lot of situations they would have liked to avoid. The women in his life always seem to be
the last thing on his mind. Whether it is the fact that he embarasses them or puts them in danger, it
does not seem to matter to him.
In the beginning of the novel, Leah practically worships her father and makes it obvious by saying,

Stoichiometry Lab Report
Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid
By Jaime Conklin
Partner: Deanna Ryan
CHE 120 03
Instructor: Mr. Cusumano
September 30, 2015
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the
identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric
acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the
formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions.
Introduction
In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic
acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles.
Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of
molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the
products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium
chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom
of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed.
Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl → NaCl + 9,999Na
Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small,
whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the
empirical

Medical History Research Paper
Many drugs commonly used today are of herbal origin. There is Archaeological evidence indicating
use of herbs and plants for medicinal purposes dating back 60,000 years. It was the learning from our
ancestors that yielded the development of medicine as it is known today. Yet modern medicine is
favored, by the majority, over herbs and plants provided by nature. A role reversal has occurred. Can
modern medicine and natural medicine effectively coexist? In 1960, a Neanderthal was discovered
buried with eight different types of plants; some of these are still used in medicine today. It is this
discovery that suggests our history of medicine, by way of plants, has been unfolding for thousands of
years (Medicinal Botany). Much knowledge was gained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albeit, marketing in the United States has a grave influence on the choice for synthetic drugs. It has
been known by many that the pharmaceutical industry has marketed medicines that do not produce the
results based on their claims. In addition, consumers have become increasingly unsettled with the high
cost of synthetic medications (Spilsbury 14 19). It is a combination of these factors and others that are
leading Americans back to their roots of natural healing medicine. As with synthetic medicines,
traditional plant medicine has its own handicap. Without regulation of natural medicines, consistency
of plant potency, efficacy, toxicity and safety are ambiguous. Consumers may falsely assume the
natural products are safe (Lewis 186.) As mentioned earlier, synthetic drugs usually contain a single
component extracted from a plant source. The original plant is complex in nature and consists of
various naturally occurring chemicals. Therefore, understanding any negative side effects from
treatment of the primary plant source would be more complicated. Modern medicine is scientifically
based and

The 66th Oscar For Best Film
Abstract
Schindler s List as the 66th Oscar for best film, adapted from the Australian novelist Thomas Kennelly
s book Schindler s List, . The movie truly represent of the German entrepreneur Oscar Schindler
during World War II, through various ways exhaust all his property saved more than 1,200 Jews from
the rue story of fascist s killings. The story plots are authentic and make audience really touched.
Hereinto the music using, shape and use of the lens and Oscar·Schindler s character image building
are the three aspects I most admire.
Introduction
Oscar Schindler, from April 28, 1908 to October 9, 1974, is a German, as well as a successful
businessman. He saved the Jews by the use of some mistakes of the German war economy
organization. Using the German war, lure the Jews investment, than hire cheap Jews to work for him
and in this age of full of killing and smoke and make a fortune of money. At the same time he has
protected about 1,200 Jews, about half of Poland survived Jews. Schindler is small John rabe . In
1958, Jerusalem s holocaust memorial announced Schindler as he righteous national people and
invited him to plant trees in The Righteous National People Congress. On October 9, 1974, Schindler
dead. He was interred at hometown by a Catholicism way and every year there are many respects of
his surviving Jews and their offspring to his soul.

At the start of the movie, an ordinary Jewish family is singing the Choral in a low voice, weak

Snowfall On Mars
Mars has been a planet scientists have been interested in for many reasons, for many years. In Mars
has nighttime snow storms , Ashley Yeager furthers her studies on Mars by focusing on the possibility
of night time snow on Mars. Yeager explains how snowfall on Mars could even occur through
scientific evidence.
Yeager states that satellites showed that snow covered the Martian poles in 2008 and
NASA s Pheonix lander detected snow falling below a nighttime water ice cloud in 2008. This also
being the first time scientist have seen snowfall on Mars. According to Eager in the beginning scientist
had believed that snowfall occurred the same way it did on Earth; however, the gravity and water
vapor on Mars compared to Earth doesn t match up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their findings showed that fast falling snow could occur on cold nights. Unlike on Earth when water
ice particles grow into the snow and then fall, low temperature cool water ice clouds, creating strong
winds that push water ice crystals toward the ground, creating fast falling snow.
Yeager had a clear objective and enough evidence to back up her findings, while also leaving room for
scientists to continue researching. Each statement was backed up with enough scientific evidence for a
reader to understand the purpose of the article. For example, she broke down how the snow being able
to fall at the same speed it does on Earth, through another scientist research. There was no quantitative
or qualitative data because all the data was research based and no need for statistical analysis. I don t
believe Yeager could ve done anything else to make this article better. She provided enough
information to support her objective while still allowing the research to continue for other scientists. A
reader who came across would have to do further research on how snowfall could occur on Mars
unless they wanted a deeper explanation. The use of the internet was helpful since that is how I found

Biblical Teachings And Essential For My Future Ministry
After rereading through Stonehouse and The Child in the Bible I have chosen six biblical
teachings/themes that I believe are important and essential for my future ministry. The six themes
includes: Children are a gift from God, God sees children as blessings, children need to be taught how
to develop a relationship with God, God commands us to protect the children, God cares about
children enough to ensure that they receive discipline, and God asks adults to learn from them. The
passage of Scripture that I would choose to describe and lead my future Children s Ministry is
Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it . I
chose this piece of Scripture to lead my ministry because it challenges the Children s Ministers,
parents and congregation to equip the child so that they can all work together on their faith. In my
ministry I want to make sure that at an early age children are intentionally encouraged to develop a
personal relationship with Christ. This passage in Proverbs challenges the children s parents. The
parents need to be equipped with skills to engage their children in conversations at home that
encourage a relationship with God. In The Child in the Bible Patrick D. Miller talks about how parents
need to be ready when their children ask questions. He uses Deuteronomy 6:20 25 to explain. ...
Moses tells the people to expect to be asked question by their children: When in the future your child
asks you...

The Stage Of Anticipatory Socialization Process
The chapter that I wrote is socialization process. After my research and study, I have more
understanding the meaning of socialization process. Socialization is the lifelong procedure of
communication through which people gain a self personality and the physical, mental, and social
aptitudes required for survival in the public arena (Hilyer, 2015). It is the procedure of adaptation.
Moreover, socialization likewise is the way toward learning and internalizing the values, convictions,
and norms of our social group and by which we get to be working individuals from society. The
socialization process starts in outset and is particular profitable once a youngster starts to comprehend
and utilize language (Greene, 2015). In view of the elements in socialization, we have a tendency to
have diverse identities in spite of the fact that we are living in a similar society. For instance, the ...

There are anticipatory socialization, the encounter stage and metamorphosis. First and foremost, the
stage of Anticipatory socialization. Anticipatory socialization is intentional changing of standards,
convictions and values. It s likewise a procedure of planning ahead of time for new standards, values
and dispositions (Miles, 2015). This kind of socialization alludes to the procedure wherein a man
practices or hones for future social connections. For instance, a child envisions parenthood as he
observes his parents perform their day by day parts. Besides, individuals once in a while use
anticipatory socialization as an apparatus to assess regardless of whether they will be suited to another
social circumstance. For instance, a couple may live together before marriage, for example, to check
whether their similarity reaches out into everyday household life. Besides, anticipatory socialization
can permit people to change in accordance with new social circumstances that would make them to a
great degree uncomfortable without such

  • 2. Netherlands Research Paper Netherlands Culture The Netherlands is home to more than 16 million people and is home to what is perhaps one of the most diverse and complex cultures on the continent of Europe. The Netherlands is bounded by the North Sea to the north and west, Germany to the east, and Belgium to the south (Michael J. Wintle, n.d.). One of the more densely populated countries in the world, the Netherlands has a wide array of ethnic and ideological heritage. Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, and arts (Kim Ann Zimmermann, 2015). Over the years, the Netherlands has been molded by many categories such as heritage, geography, and military conflict, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spain played a particularly large role during the early years of the nation, with England and France also attempting to impose their will upon the Dutch. Victories against the Spaniards in the decades following 1587 claimed many lands and helped to separate the Dutch as an independently governed nation. Recognition by the English and French of Holland as individual also helped this cause. From 1621 1648 the Dutch were once again at war with Spain. At the onset of this war, the outcome did not look well for the Netherlands, as Spain had captured Breda, an important fortress in the south. Following this, however, the Dutch began to take back key pieces of land in the south and had several pivotal naval victories against the Spanish. Included in these naval victories were Piet Heyn s celebrated capture of the Spanish silver fleet, off the coast of Cuba, and the destruction of a Spanish fleet in the Downs, off the English coast (Michael J. Wintle, n.d.). Following the signing of a treaty in 1648, the Spaniards now formally recognized the Netherlands as an independent state. The Dutch once again experienced naval success in the 1670s against French forces. This time, the Netherlands succeeded in driving away France, and pushing England out of its territories. Throughout the next century, or more, the Dutch clashed with French, English, and Prussian forces. Dutch patriots played a key role in taking back the land with help from the ... • 3. Habituation of Exploratory Behavior in Rats Abstract This study investigated the effects of displaced objects and spatial reorganization on habituation of exploratory behavior. The subjects, rats, each individually spent 5 minutes in an open field for 6 trials. Throughout the study, exploratory behavior was measured in the number of contacts the subject made, the number of ambulations, and contact time (seconds). Trials 1 5 were mainly used to familiarize the subject with its surroundings, naturally leading to decreasing amounts of exploratory behavior. Trial 6 involves the same routine, except displaced objects are introduced in an attempt to renew exploratory behavior and promote the building up of environmental maps and representations. Additionally, the measured behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this present study, behavior tests were used in order to determine the likelihood of renewed exploratory behavior in a familiar environment after the introduction of displaced objects. Additionally, renewed exploratory behavior seems to play a critical role in building environmental maps, leading to the integration of new spatial relationships Poucet et al. (1986). The primary aim of this experiment was to determine if rats would gain a renewal of exploratory behavior due to displaced objects after habituation had settled in. Based on results from these previously mentioned experiments, we hypothesized that subjects were capable of renewing exploratory behavior in a spatially reorganized environment. However, this was under the assumption that complications such as age and species type were inapplicable. Method Subjects The subjects were Sprague Dawley male rats. Their age is 150 days. The supplier is Harlan Sprague Dawley. They are maintained on a 12:12 h light/dark cycle and are provided with ad libitum access to food. Apparatus Materials include an open field (OF) apparatus with a 6x6 grid drawn on the inside. Three objects, a coca cola can, a plastic cylindrical container with rocks inside, and a plastic bear shaped bottle were used as the objects. Procedure The study period included one week of familiarization and a second week devoted to experimentation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One weapon batman can use to his advantage is the batarang, which can cut spider man s silk, and has a variety of memes funnier than spider man s memes. Spider man s life is not as bad as Batman s life, because of his parents dying; He then becomes dark and more dank than Spider man. Spider man got his powers from a radioactive spider, while Batman got his powers from seeing his parents die from a scrub like thug that has no life and no memes. Spider man s life is worse than batman s because, his grandfather said the more luckier someone is than the other, they will have bad luck paired with them to balance life out. Same goes for bad luck, when it is also paired with good luck for balancing life because if balancing was filthy, nothing would be possible in the universe. For battles against the villains, spider man used his silk and the environment for his advantage, while Batman also used the environment to his advantage, he had also used his intelligence for the upper hand in battles. Bats and spiders do relate to their thinking like both batman and spider man unlike some spiders, some do not need silk to catch their prey. Jumping spiders never need silk. They can hop almost forty times their body weight. Some people like jumping spiders because they look cute up close, while others think spiders are ugly and bushy. Some people despise the arachnids because they look creepy and crawly, but it is more scared of people than of spiders. Spiders are usually scared of humans because they are smaller than humans and the fact they can be out runned. Bats are a different story compared to all the animals in the ... • 5. An Introduction To Private Health Insurance INTRO Private health Insurance is a $1.42 billion (before tax) industry in Australia (Seah, 2012) and has played a prominent role in the country s health system for over 60 years. As of 2009, 51per cent of the Australian population was covered by some form of private health insurance. Private health insurance is a regulated industry; this means it is controlled by government legislation under the Private Health Insurance Act (2007). Private health insurers are required to register under this Act, and the policies they sell must adhere to these regulations (Shamsullah, 2011). Due to the size and regulation of the industry managers in the sector may face many complex challenges. Complex management has been around for thousands of years. Basic management tools that were used in the past have formed the foundations of the theories that have shaped today s management practices. One of the major challenges in today s organisational environments is the interconnectedness of all management aspects. It can be difficult for leaders to identify the exact problem, the cause of the problem and what relevant information (within the available abundance) is relevant and could be used to address problems (Maznevski, 2007). This study aims to analyse the issues and problems faced by HealthCo and provide potential solutions and recommendations to enhance management and business success. The First Industrial Revolution, driven by steam, and the Second Industrial Revolution, driven by electricity, led to an increase in technology, production, and jobs especially among women, as illustrated by the photo of Rosie the Riveter, depicting a woman in the workforce urging other women to engage in employment (Human Development Report; Miller). While there had been fears of future unemployment due to the rapid rise in machines performing the tasks of people, in 1962, President John F. His closing acceptance speech has shown us how much his character has drastically changed in contrast to how he ran his entire campaign. Throughout his campaign to become president Donald Trump degraded women, bashed the disabled, and had plans to build walls to keep families from being together. He seems to be everything we didn t need for our next president and now shockingly enough in his winning acceptance speech he has become a whole new man, thanking and congratulating the Clinton campaign and posing as a humble acceptor of his new presidential title. For instance, the movie and the book Les Miserables by Victor Hugo covers why they rebelled, but there is more to wishing for a better day than what is seen from above the clear water. Many new technologies are being developed for smart TV or data broadcast on this part of the NTSC signal. Basically the V chip will severely limit the bandwidth for high performance transmission of data on the NTSC signal. There is also to be cost to this new technology, which will be passed to consumers. Estimates are that each chip will cost six dollars wholesale and must be designed into the television s logic. The V chip could easily push the price of televisions up by twenty five or more dollars during the first years of production. The much simpler solution of set top boxes allows control for those who need it and allow those consumers who don t to save money and use new data technology. Another cost will most definitely be levied to television advertisers for the upgrade of the transmitting equipment. The Great Debate About College Roommates The Great Debate about College Roommates In most cases, for people who once attended college they either consider it the best years of their life or a horror show. They may feel this way because of the experiences they had, classes they took, or the people they met, like perhaps their roommate. In the New York Times article, A College Education Should Include Rooming with a Stranger , Anna Altman explains the effects of having a roommate in college. • 21. The Broken Window Theory Of Crime Criminologist James Q. Wilson and George Kelling developed the Broken Window theory . According to their theory they believed that crime is the inevitable result of disorder (Gladwell 155). The broken window theory is known as a disorder and as chaos, therefore, crimes become an issue due to the fact that the impression of no one being in charge causes crimes to happen one after another and worsening along the way. An example often used is a broken window, which leads to another broken window, to graffiti, to loitering, etc. The disorder, the chaos and the abandonment of something or a place causes crimes to be followed one after another crime is contagious (Gladwell 155). According to the broken window theory, broken windows should not be left alone. They should be fixed in order for crime to decrease; therefor broken windows should not be tolerated due to the fact that it may cause an increase of crimes as well. The rise of a question then forms from this theory, because many departments use the broken window theory. Officers are known for keeping the law and keeping order. The officers are given a duty of addressing minor life threatening offenses and social disorder, which prevents major crimes to happen. They are to disapprove and stop crimes. But is the broken window theory broken itself when it comes to law enforcement. Could they be doing more wrong than actually doing well? Because officers are not only stopping crimes, but they are causing more trouble ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then Joseph Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work eliminated some of the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during the Industrial Revolution. Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization. Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, founded the concept of temperature as a way to kill germs. He showed that microorganisms caused liquids such as milk, wine and beer to spoil. Gardner proposes that because these eight types of intelligences are biologically based, they are malleable and therefore capable of evolving (Aborn, 2006). When we were assigned this project, we brainstormed some different ideas that our world could revolve around. The first idea that we had was the season of Fall. We thought that it would be a great idea to revolve our world around fall because it was the season that we are currently in but then we decided to do something different. Some of our other ideas included birthdays, recycling, and gardens. We then narrowed it down between two choices, gardening and recycling. Both of us are passionate about our environment and so these topics were extremely intriguing. We then decided that we were the most interested in gardening and selected it to be our world. Gardening is a pretty broad topic so we focussed more on the reason behind gardening and the life cycle of a plant. When looking at all the Common Core Standards there were many standards that could be incorporated into a lesson about gardening, so many that we chose six of them. The first one we chose was CCSS.ELA LITERACY.RL.2.1. In this standard, students would ask and answer questions demonstrating that they understand the text. Concept Of A Multiage Classroom And The Process Of Looping For one to fully appreciate the concept of a multiage classroom and the process of looping, one must understand first what it is, secondly, why it is, and thirdly, how it works. Understanding of what multiage classrooms and looping are is due in large part to veteran and proactive teachers willing to mix old school teaching styles with today s learners and methods. The idea of a multiage classroom and the concept of looping are directly related to the classic 19th century setting of a one room school house (Aina, 2001). In a one room school house, a single teacher was responsible for educating an entire town s children, all of which varied in ages, grade levels, and abilities. Providing the teacher remained unmarried or worked in a town where a married teacher was permitted to teach, children often returned to the school house each year to the same teacher. This is where the concept of looping and multiage classrooms originate. Imagine it s the first day of kindergarten and you are walking your child to their classroom for the first time. Rather than a room full of shy, teary eyed kindergartners, you enter a room that is alive with activity with students in grades kindergarten through second grade gathered around the room at various tables working on morning work and getting reacquainted with old friends. • 34. Metaphors By Duncanson Tennyson An Intertextual Analysis Tennyson is known for his word paintings the use of words that conjure pictures. Word paintings, according to Benjamin are produced by the imagination and by certain tricks of light and colour which produce the desired effect on the eye of the beholder (1931, p. 355). Stylistically, these word paintings consist of metaphors and similes, and noun phrases that contain colour and sensory adjectives and adverbs. Some examples from TLE (1969/1987, p. 469) that are instances of figurative language include: 1. wavering lights, showery drops (noun phrases with adjectives) 2. dark faces, rosy flame (noun phrases with colour adjectives) Although the painting by Duncanson shares some commonalities with the poem, it is different in some ways. While highlighting these, I will provide pointers for further discussion on the topic. Tennyson s poem begins with a description of the Lotus Eaters landing on the shores of the island, fatigued from travelling (indicated by the use of the word courage by the protagonist Ulysses). Their time of arrival (afternoon) in a land in which it seemed always afternoon (1987, p. 468) conjures the image of dull sunlight; and the description of the waters as the slender stream along the cliff to fall and pause and fall did seem (1987, p. 469) connotes the wayward movement of a narrow water body. This operation was later known as the Czech Kindertransport. Another historical figure who saved people from harm was Harriet Tubman, an African American abolitionist who led enslaved people to freedom along the Underground Railroad, a vast network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe houses used by slaves in the U.S. to escape bondage. Although Harriet Tubman and Nicholas Winton are both historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves from bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped slaves could be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the Underground Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during the winter months to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for protection and to ensure that her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In December 1938, Winton visited a friend who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian refugees in Sudetenland, the western area of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard that there were no organizations to deal with refugee children. He began writing letters asking governments to help these children, but only Britain and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton, along with some volunteers, forged travel documents, arranged foster parents for the children, and paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were transported across the English Channel to Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children. After the children arrived in Britain, Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on September 1, 1939, after Germany invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control, starting World War II. In total, Winton managed to orchestrate eight transports and saved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Price Family In The Poisonwood Bible By Barbara... All families have conflicts, and the Price family, from the Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, were no exception. The Price family consists of Mr. and Mrs. Price and their four girls, Leah, Rachel, Ruth May, and Adah. The conflicts between the Price children and their parents, particularly their father, are obvious and frequent. Leah, the oldest of the four girls, and her father have a very patchy relationship. It is not just Leah who has a problem with most of her father s opinions. All four of the children have many negative feelings towards their controlling father. Throughout the whole novel, Mr. Price acts very selfishly. The stressful move to Africa did not relieve his self centered ways. He moved his family across the Atlantic Ocean and into a very different lifestyle than the one in which they had currently been living. This was a very conceited act. Not only is Nathan greedy, he is also stubborn as a mule. It s hard to imagine a mortal man more unwilling to change his course than Nathan Price (Page 96). This is a problem for the entire family. His headstrong personality puts his family in a lot of situations they would have liked to avoid. The women in his life always seem to be the last thing on his mind. Whether it is the fact that he embarasses them or puts them in danger, it does not seem to matter to him. In the beginning of the novel, Leah practically worships her father and makes it obvious by saying, Not everyone can see it, but my father s heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stoichiometry Lab Report Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid By Jaime Conklin Partner: Deanna Ryan CHE 120 03 Instructor: Mr. Cusumano September 30, 2015 Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions. Introduction In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles. Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed. Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl → NaCl + 9,999Na Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small, whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the empirical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Medical History Research Paper Many drugs commonly used today are of herbal origin. There is Archaeological evidence indicating use of herbs and plants for medicinal purposes dating back 60,000 years. It was the learning from our ancestors that yielded the development of medicine as it is known today. Yet modern medicine is favored, by the majority, over herbs and plants provided by nature. A role reversal has occurred. Can modern medicine and natural medicine effectively coexist? In 1960, a Neanderthal was discovered buried with eight different types of plants; some of these are still used in medicine today. It is this discovery that suggests our history of medicine, by way of plants, has been unfolding for thousands of years (Medicinal Botany). Much knowledge was gained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albeit, marketing in the United States has a grave influence on the choice for synthetic drugs. It has been known by many that the pharmaceutical industry has marketed medicines that do not produce the results based on their claims. In addition, consumers have become increasingly unsettled with the high cost of synthetic medications (Spilsbury 14 19). It is a combination of these factors and others that are leading Americans back to their roots of natural healing medicine. As with synthetic medicines, traditional plant medicine has its own handicap. Without regulation of natural medicines, consistency of plant potency, efficacy, toxicity and safety are ambiguous. Consumers may falsely assume the natural products are safe (Lewis 186.) As mentioned earlier, synthetic drugs usually contain a single component extracted from a plant source. The original plant is complex in nature and consists of various naturally occurring chemicals. Therefore, understanding any negative side effects from treatment of the primary plant source would be more complicated. Modern medicine is scientifically based and ... • 42. Snowfall On Mars Mars has been a planet scientists have been interested in for many reasons, for many years. In Mars has nighttime snow storms , Ashley Yeager furthers her studies on Mars by focusing on the possibility of night time snow on Mars. Yeager explains how snowfall on Mars could even occur through scientific evidence. Yeager states that satellites showed that snow covered the Martian poles in 2008 and NASA s Pheonix lander detected snow falling below a nighttime water ice cloud in 2008. This also being the first time scientist have seen snowfall on Mars. According to Eager in the beginning scientist had believed that snowfall occurred the same way it did on Earth; however, the gravity and water vapor on Mars compared to Earth doesn t match up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their findings showed that fast falling snow could occur on cold nights. Unlike on Earth when water ice particles grow into the snow and then fall, low temperature cool water ice clouds, creating strong winds that push water ice crystals toward the ground, creating fast falling snow. Yeager had a clear objective and enough evidence to back up her findings, while also leaving room for scientists to continue researching. Each statement was backed up with enough scientific evidence for a reader to understand the purpose of the article. For example, she broke down how the snow being able to fall at the same speed it does on Earth, through another scientist research. There was no quantitative or qualitative data because all the data was research based and no need for statistical analysis. I don t believe Yeager could ve done anything else to make this article better. She provided enough information to support her objective while still allowing the research to continue for other scientists. A reader who came across would have to do further research on how snowfall could occur on Mars unless they wanted a deeper explanation. • 43. Biblical Teachings And Essential For My Future Ministry After rereading through Stonehouse and The Child in the Bible I have chosen six biblical teachings/themes that I believe are important and essential for my future ministry. The six themes includes: Children are a gift from God, God sees children as blessings, children need to be taught how to develop a relationship with God, God commands us to protect the children, God cares about children enough to ensure that they receive discipline, and God asks adults to learn from them. The passage of Scripture that I would choose to describe and lead my future Children s Ministry is Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it . I chose this piece of Scripture to lead my ministry because it challenges the Children s Ministers, parents and congregation to equip the child so that they can all work together on their faith. In my ministry I want to make sure that at an early age children are intentionally encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Christ. This passage in Proverbs challenges the children s parents. The parents need to be equipped with skills to engage their children in conversations at home that encourage a relationship with God. In The Child in the Bible Patrick D. Miller talks about how parents need to be ready when their children ask questions. He uses Deuteronomy 6:20 25 to explain. ... Moses tells the people to expect to be asked question by their children: When in the future your child asks you... ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
