Memoirs Of A Geisha By Arthur Golden
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide
to be . The concept behind Emerson s words are evident in the novel Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur
Golden. The main protagonist, Sayuri, demonstrates the way in which her life drastically changed
through self determination rather than assume the path of destiny. Destiny is simply a guideline in
which one follows throughout their life however, the concept of self determination is the detailed
description of which way life will go based on one s individual actions. Sayuri s determination in
pursuance of the love of her life led to a better lifestyle, better sentiment of self worth and self esteem
and an overall sense of happiness.
In Golden s novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alder, a famous author once said Every woman that finally figured out her worth, has picked up her
suitcases of pride and boarded a flight to freedom, which landed in the valley of change . In regards to
the novel surrounding the life of Chiyo who became the famous geisha, Sayuri, the self determination
of creating a better life for herself and pursuing her love interest ultimately added the confidence and
self worth that she had once lacked to ever recognize as a young girl. She describes her upcoming in
the world of geisha as, ...I became aware of all the magnificent silk wrapped about my body, and had
the feeling I might drown in beauty... (Golden, 187). In her journey of becoming a famous geisha,
Chiyo blossomed from the innocent child who knew nothing of the world to Sayuri, the woman with
fair skin and stunning grey blue eyes. Her self determination led to her appearance becoming an
essential part of her goals and ultimately led to a better understanding and appreciation for her gifts of
beauty which also attributed to a better life. However, in the case of the betterment of self esteem and
self worth through self determination, students with disabilities are excellent example of people who
have thrived in gaining self esteem. Through many research projects and analytical summaries of a
school s population based on the disabled and their overall self esteem rating, the more self
determination a student has, the more self esteem they are more likely to exude. ...When acting on the
basis of these skills and attitudes, individuals have greater ability to take control of their lives and
assume the role of successful adults... ( Field, S., Martin, J., Miller, R., Ward, M., Wehmeyer, M., Self
determination for persons with disabilities: A position statement of the division on career development
and transition, Career Development for Exceptional Individuals, 21(2), 113 128). Students with

Small Group Reflection
In the summer of 2013, I participated in the Calvin College Entrada Scholar program, a four week
intensive program for racial ethnic minority high school students to experience college learning and
living while earning college credit. Creating an international community was a huge theme in this
program, students were not allowed to have their computers, games, nor be on their phones. Another
way that the program encouraged community was with small group devotion with students floormates
and designated floor RA.
I remember one week, the theme within the small groups was sharing our narratives. My small group
consisted of a total of nine female students and our RA. Our discussion lasted about 2 hours that night
mainly because our RA established a safe and open environment, she was someone we loved and
trusted within a short time of knowing her.
The small group narrative used a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our small group was the definition of people that are often marginalized, minority women. I am not
saying that we were not empowered, being in that group alone after hearing everyone struggles was
empowering. However, after our discussion there was no direction to where to go from there, after
opening up. I personally could not look at others the same way after hearing their stories. A solution
would had been a follow up small group discussion before departing from the program, but with only
small group meetings once a week it is difficult to implement this idea. In addition, I understand that
our RA did not have training in social work, mentoring, or psychology, she was a Speech Path major.
In the small group the most we could do was sympathize with each other, but not truly lift them up
and congratulated them in overcoming their hardships and help them decide their next step after this

Theme Of Oedipus Complex By Paul Morel
Since the day of publication, it has been a tendency to approach Sons and Lovers (1913)primarily as
the story of a victim of Oedipus Complex . The hero, Paul Morel, is very often looked upon, as the
title suggests, merely as a son; not as a normal human being. Whatever problems crop up in the life of
Paul Morel has been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation . Whenever someone strives to
examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus complex looms large and everything
else, if there is any, fades away. Because of this one dimensional attitude, it is scarcely kept in mind
that Paul Morel, besides his mother fixation , does posses another identity no less important than his
identity of a son; the identity that could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Even the world ahead is quite unknown, devoid of the warmth of his familiar women folks.
However, the present unknown opens up a new possibility for Paul and urges anew the creative artist
in his being. In fact, before losing all of his beloveds, Paul successfully draws out the necessary
vitality from them:
From his mother he drew the life warmth, the strength to produce; Miriam urged this warmth into
intensity like a white light.28
About Clara, it could be said in the words of Mark Spilka : she adds to this life warmth and creative
vision the gift of manhood, the baptism of fire in passion. 29 With the help of this vitality, Paul being
at verge of extinction finally decides: no, he would not give in, 30 rather will continue to go on in

Nymph s Spinster
Sylvia Plath s Spinster was effective in presenting its view that love is unrealistic, however, Sir Walter
Raleigh s The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd was more direct. Sylvia Plath s sixains and uneven
lines contradicted the speaker s view that love is disorderly. The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd
followed the Iambic pentameter that complimented the speaker s argument that of why love is
incredulous between an immortal and a mortal. Through tone, symbolism, imagery, and worldview Sir
Walter Raleigh manages to present the Nymph s attitude toward love in a artistic and effective way.
Plath s tone in Spinster is cynical. The poem consist of an angry rant against love, which is presented
by Spring (Plant 22). To the speaker love isn t worthwhile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shepherd presents the nymph with flowers, shoes, and beds of roses to persuade her, but they fail
to meet the nymph s conditions, All these in me no means can move (Raleigh 19). The gifts can t
move her because with time the shepherd s gifts would, Soon break, soon wither (Raleigh 16). The
gifts are no use to the nymph as an immortal being. The symbolism in Spinster is similar to Raleigh s
because just immortality and mortality can t coexist, neither can spring or winter. The speaker in
Spinster can be tempted by spring which is a symbol of love because, Only idiots/Reel giddy in
bedlam spring (Plath 22). The speaker doesn t appreciate bird songs or other the other beauties of
spring and refers to a bird s song as Irregular babel (Plath 5). The speaker prefers winter (isolation)
because everything is in its order and there is discipline that helps the speaker feel in control (Plath
13,14,17). Imagery in the Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd helps reinforce the speaker s view that love
is unrealistic. The imager of flowers do fade portrays how the gifts that the shepherd offers the nymph
only last for a short period of time. The gifts are a symbol of the shepherd s love, therefore the
shepherd s love will also fade. The promise of love is unrealistic because the shepherd believes that
love materialistic, which makes the shepherd s love unrealistic because as a young man, the shepherd

The Speech Was A Success
Overall, I believe that our speech was a success. Sonia and I wrote our outline together and we
followed Toulmin logic for our format. We started with the board point that everyone know driving
under the influence is dangerous and then narrowed by adding how many people get multiple DUI and
finally the consequences of driving under the influence. In this way, we had a logical and persuasive
argument that we both understood. We also decided who would speak which parts on Friday which
meant that we both knew what was happening and had time to practice and prepare. I think that when
we were speaking we had smooth transitions between our different parts. However, because we did
not have the opportunity to practice our speech together the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In my call to action, I used words like implore and I asked my audience to consider their safely and
the safety of all the people they care about. I was doing my best to pull them into my topic and make
them consider why it was important and how it affected them before they voted. I told them
specifically what I wanted them to do and why they should do it. I believe that my delivery was
forceful and well articulated. Lastly, my rebuttal was interactive and lasting. I thought extensively
about what to do for my rebuttal and I guessed that my opposition would bring up that taking away a
person s driver s license would take away their livelihood and I knew I would be able to rebut this
with statistics. However, I also wanted to make a more lasting impression than that. By making
everyone stand up and display my statistic my goal was to make the issue more real to them and really
allow them to see what I was saying. Saying numbers normally make a lasting impression on people,
but showing them that point in a visual form will. I was rather proud of that. I was able to successfully
rebut most of the points that the opposition made. I also felt good about calling the opposition out on
not addressing the pint that we were arguing. They talked about how giving DUIs does not address the
root of the problem, and while

Preparing To Lead To Schema
Leadership is perceived and defined in many ways, but in the end, every concept of leadership is
brought back on the focus of people. Followers reaction towards a leader decides the effectiveness of
his or her specific style of governance. Because of the importance of the subordinate, leaders must
treat everyone they manage with dignity and respect. To achieve this feat, the leader must understand
the meaning of culture and other aspects which stem from it and social perceptions and biases which
lead to schema and ultimately unjust stereotypes. In the leadership textbook Preparing to Lead:
Introduction to Leadership and Development written by LCDR Litchford, USN and LT Bryant, USN,
it defines culture as the totality of learned socially transmitted ... Show more content on

We see the world through our own lens crafted and shaped by our culture. By these lens we conduct a
process called attribution which is the rationalization of a person s traits, motives, abilities and
situational pressures. These rationalizations are called schema. Schema are products of the human s
natural process of categorizing people as groups instead of individual entities. There are many types of
schema, but the most commonly known and used schema is the group schema or a stereotype. An
example of a stereotype is that all football players are dumb. Even though I once was a football player,
I found myself believing this stereotype during a lab. I had a question on the procedure of the lab and
as I was about to ask the classmate next to me, I realized he was a football player and I did not ask
him for a while because I thought he was even more confused than I was. Although this thought went
through my mind, I eventually forced myself to ask him, and he knew exactly what was going on in
lab. I was very angry at myself for putting this man in a stereotype and not taking the time to actually
know the football player. Stereotypes in America are usually used towards social, racial, religious, and
ethnic groups. Other types of schema are personal schema which are assumptions made from knowing
one attribute of a person, self schemas which are thinking yourself as fat, so you may diet too much or
become bulimic and become anorexic, and event schemas which are schemas created from what
people expect to happen during a simple event. Schema can be dangerous especially towards people
because when assumptions are made, the leader feels no need to actually get to know the individual.
This can lead to

Characteristics Of Steve Jobs
There are numerous flaws in the concept that a person s culture, family, generation, and upbringing are
more accurate determinants of success when compared to that persons traits such as personality,
ambition, and intelligence. While circumstances being conducive to their needs helps, anyone with
enough determination can rise above obstacles and become an outlier. Arguments against this, often
have faults. There are many clear examples of driven, brilliant people, of all backgrounds, reaching
great heights. One published believer of successful people being a result of their constraints and
opportunities alone, is Malcolm Gladwell. In his book Outliers he highlights several aspects of the
histories of well known identities. He argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, it is true that some facts don t change with time. However, he was citing a psychology based
experiment and this field has transformed quite a lot in ninety years. At this point, most could observe
that this author has a habit of referencing anecdotal evidence as opposed to relevant and proven
research. In a New York Times review of Outliers it is stated that Gladwell s hypotheses, pivot
deceptively around various anecdotes and studies that are selective in the extreme... (Kakutani). Even
so, these stories do show an undeniable relationship between a person s achievements, and their
unique qualities. This connection is also distinguishable in much less specific examples. In addition to
the aforementioned cases, evidence of success depending on personality, ambition, and intelligence, as
opposed to circumstance, is seen many places. Firstly, if family and culture were playing such a
definitive role in the lives of the highly acheived, then all siblings of someone at the top of the ladder
should also excel. Obviously this is not always the case. On a similar note, if financial status was the
main contributor to excellent standing, then all the tales of people giving up on what may seem to be
the more profitable route, and instead taking the road less traveled out of passion, would end in
failure. Yet, they do not. It is unreasonable to think that there is some perfect set of conditions, where,

The Importance Of Censorship In Harper Lee s To Kill A...
Remember when one was taught that one shouldn t be afraid to speak up? Or speak about what one
believes in? Well, censorship breaks apart all of that freedom we fought for, and learned throughout
the years. Here is why censorship should not be implemented in the United States. Throughout the
years, many innovative authors have created masterpieces and best sellers, such as Cujo, Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn, and many other classic books from Stephen king, mark twain, and other great
authors. Unfortunately, many books have been challenged and banned due to the violence, gruesome,
and sexual content. In 1960 To KIll a Mockingbird was released and immediately became successful.
However, it s one of the most controversial and challenged book due to the fact that many schools,
parents, teachers claim that the book provides content that is racially, and sexually inappropriate for
young readers. Still to this day, Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, remains among one of the top
banned books. This is why Books shouldn t be censored because mature readers won t get the
opportunity to read the books that they can handle.
As a matter of fact , Censorship removes freedom of speech from many readers including the author.
In the late 1990s four of stephen king s books turned up on the ALA list for the most top banned
books. Cujo, Carrie, Dead zone and Christine. Many readers, would agree that stephen king s books
are intriguing , and massive to the horror genre. Writing books

Summary Of Appiah s Death Of The Duel
In the first half of Death of the Duel, Appiah begins by providing the details of a duel between two
prominent British government officials, using the specific example as a jumping point to discuss the
general idea of dueling. The form of honor being represented in this case is that of reputation and the
maintenance of regard from the general public. This concept of honor as a form of social standing is
interesting because it subverts Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs and many other psychological theories
that try to map out human instinct which places safety and security in higher regard than it does
esteem or ego. In the case of the duel, honor is considered the highest human need, even above life
itself if one considers the death toll, although that mainly applies to the aristocratic class, who had
most of their basic needs taken care of already. In the case of dueling, the society at the time seemed
to conflate the ideas of respect and honor, assuming that the characteristic of honorability
automatically entitled one to respect from peers and lower classes. Appiah, however, distinguishes the
two by noting that honor is the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Appiah believes there is only pride in doing things out of the ordinary, I believe that it also
takes courage and honor to follow honor codes in everyday circumstances. Being honorable is difficult
sin a world where honorable behavior, contrary to Appiah s belief, is not actually standard behavior.
For example, a student witnesses two bullies harassing another student and steps in to stop them.
While this might be fairly standard honorable behavior, that does not mean the student shouldn t feel
proud of their actions and the courage they took. The pride doesn t detract from the previously
honorable actions. In his argument, Appiah seems to conflate the idea of pride personal satisfaction
with vanity and the need to boost reputation, which I hold to be two separate

1. Introduction
The significance of language is a broad theme in the Çity of Glass . The detective fiction novel Çity of
Glass written by Paul Auster portrays different concepts of prelapsarian and postlapsarian language.
Which are revealed through characters, such as Daniel Quinn, Peter Stillman Jr., Peter Stillman Sr.,

Disadvantages Of Co-Parenting
Co parenting is the sharing of parental responsibility by divorced parents or joint shared custody of a
child. It involves being interactive, cooperative, and supportive of the child which is important
because it is a factor that determines whether the cognitive adjustment of a child s development is
successful or not. According to Feinberg (2014), co parenting consists of four dimensions: 1.)
agreement/disagree on issues 2.) work regarding childbearing 3.) supports from both parents and 4.)
interactions in the family. Co parenting can be stressful after a divorce due to the change of lifestyle; it
is difficult for both the parents and the children. Money, properties, and items can be divided up but
not children because they need love and affection from both parents. When speaking of children,
jealousy between the parents will arise, this will lead them to bad talk and rage about each other to the
children. This affects a child s cognitive development and emotional state negatively because the two
people they love and look up to are messing with their mind. The opportunities for crucial nurturing
activities and access visits may not be provided therefore the child would lack cognitive and
communication skills. (Schmidt, 2016). This can possibly lead to depression, chronic stress, and
anxiety. Ineffective co parenting can hurt a child because the child may not get the discipline they
need to understand, they would feel confused by conflicting messages from parents that

Symbolism In The City Of Ember
Throughout a book, many authors use a symbol or object to help readers find the deeper meaning in a
story. Jeanne Duprau , the author of The City of Ember emphasizes darkness vs the light throughout
the whole book. The author does this because the symbols hidden in the story, has a huge impact and
role throughout it. In the story, the author uses both symbols light and darkness. The light represents
life and hope for another world, while the darkness symbolizes fear and death.
In the book, The City of Ember, the author uses the symbol light to show life and hope for another

Arnold As The Devil-Figure In Joyce Carols Oates
In Joyce Carols Oates where are you going and where have you been Arnold is a devil figure. The
central point the idea that Arnold is the devil. Although supporting evidence is too extensive to
summarize here, her interpretation has become the majority position in essays about Oates s story
numerous other writers have called Arnold a literal or symbolic devil, or at least have called him
satanic or demonic. Even Oates herself has called Arnold a demon and describes the story as an
allegory of the fatal attractions of death (or the devil) . So in Oates s short story a teenaged
protagonist, when freed from the repressive control of parents or a parental figure, encounters a

Mccarthyism Research Paper
According to History.com, on the Joseph R. McCarthy webpage more than 2000 government

the political tensions of the time known as McCarthyism. McCarthyism started on February 9, 1950
because McCarthy made McCarthyism which affected a lot of people. First this is what happened with
McCarthy s early years. McCarthy was born on November 14, 1908 in Grand chute, WI. McCarthy
attended Marquette University in Milwaukee. McCarthy earned his law degree in 1935. McCarthy
later became senator in 1946. He was also the youngest member of the us senate. Throughout the 1940
s and 1950 s America was overwhelmed with the threat of communism growing in Europe and China.
In 1950 McCarthy gave a speech that propelled him into the material spotlight. Also in 1950 congress
passed the McCarran Internal Security act. In 1953 he married his wife Jean Fraser Kerr Minetti. They
had an adopted child named Tierney Elizabeth. Also in 1953 McCarthy began his second term of
senator. McCarthy was reelected in 1952 and became chairman of the Senate s Committee on
Government Operations, where he occupied the spotlight for two years with his anti communist
investigations and questioning of suspected officials. McCarthy s charges led to testimony before the
Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, but he was unable to substantiate any of his claims against a
single member of any government department.Despite this setback, McCarthy s popularity
nevertheless continued to rise, as his claims had struck a nerve with an American public tired of the
Korean War and concerned with communist activity in China and Eastern Europe. Undaunted by his

Child Labor And The United States
When one hears the term Child Labor , an image of children making low quality clothing in some
dingy third world sweatshop inevitably comes to mind. While this imagery is unfortunately founded in
fact, the third world is not the only area complicit with this heinous practice. Truthfully, we, as a
nation are also guilty of propagating this heinous practice. For over a century, this nation s youth were
subjugated to exploitation and abuse at the hands of captains of industry in the hopes of extracting
every ounce of profit they could. Fortunately, sympathetic individuals recognized the children s need
for advocacy and rose to their defense in the form of organized dissent that appealed to the highest
powers of this country to fight for those who could not fight for themselves. In this paper, we will look
at what exactly child labor is, the circumstances that gave rise to the widespread acceptance of child
labor usage, what working condition these children experienced, and how the United States eventually
made its use illegal.
What is Child Labor?
Child labor is historically defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and
their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development (Hansan, 2013). Legally, to be
considered child labor, work must involve at least one of the following characteristics:
1. Violates a nation s minimum age laws
2. Threatens children s physical, mental or emotional well being
3. Involves intolerable

Globalization And International Trade Theory
International trade plays a big role in every person s life. The credit should go to every economist who
has contributed to the development of international trade theory. Trade is the consequence of the
human propensity to truck, barter, and exchange one thing for another (Smith, 1776). Different people
have different propensities for trading, so do different economic periods have different economic
conditions, which require different international trade theories. This could be the material cause for the
development of international trade theory.
Mercantilism was the dominant school of thought in Europe from the sixteenth century to the
eighteenth century. It refers to the central policy prescription that the state should act like a merchant,
augmenting the wealth of the nation by maximizing the surplus from trade with other nations
(Sandelin, 2014). It measured a country s wealth by the amount of rare metals it owns. The country
with more precious metals is better off than others. It aimed at making many exports and few imports
to get positive trading balance. Mercantilism was dominant in France and England. Governments
power were growing and they had big demand for lands at that time. This theory could be closely
related to the wars during that period. At the same time the rise of more powerful European states with
burgeoning bureaucracies, frequent dynastic wars that required larger and more expensive armies, and
more lavish court expenditures exacerbated this

The Importance Of Confucianism In Chinese Culture
China is considered to be the first modern state in the world and has existed for thousands of years.
Throughout the millennia, this civilisation and its people have continued to develop the cultural
practices such as sacred teachings, which consequently has influenced their art style. Therefore, in this
essay I will explore and compared themes such as Confucianism, Taoism and even their written word
and how those have influences art in China through the ages. The concept of Confucianism began over
two thousand five hundred years ago, and it is largely defined by three key principles. That etiquette is
integral to harmony, authority is to be respected and most importantly tradition and history is to be
remembered and revered. All three of these principles are equally important and Confucians believe
that these teachings are the best way to have a peaceful and uncorrupted society and the best way to
carry yourself as a person. However, I claimed that reverence towards tradition was the most
important principle because I have found that it is the most common theme related to Confucianism
that appears in Chinese art. You can see this in Xie He s Six Principles of Painting written in 550c. His
sixth principle of `Transmission by Copying emphasises the importance of working from the masters
artwork so you can learn from them and develop your own practice. The most common way this was
manifested is when painters remake previous masters work. It is the main way we see older

Essay about Orders of Magnitude and Online Personals Industry
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1. The online personals industry took its first breath in 1992. In the

Customers supply a website with the necessary profile information that helps an online personals

arguably the supplier themselves. Rivalry: Competition in the online personals industry seems to be
quite intense. Rivals can easily replicate a competing firm s technology and claim that their service is
superior to its competition s. Low customer loyalty makes competition even more serious as
companies have to spend a lot of money marketing their service to convey two messages: 1) their
service is better; and 2) their website is the place to find one s soul mate. The lack of focus in sending
one clear message simply adds on to how much these companies have to spend on their

that entering into this industry is relatively easy. Individuals simply need to understand the basics of
creating a website and be able to gain access to enough networks of singles to claim itself as a player
within the industry. Looking at the statics of Niche sites segment of the competition in this industry

Theme of Love in Much Ado and Twelfth Night
AS English Literature Unit 2 (Coursework)
EXPLORATIVE STUDY
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is studied and his Much Ado About Nothing is used to explore the theme
of love. Performances are referred to.
Shakespeare s romantic comedies explore love, the divine passion , in all its moods and intensities.
Most characters in these two plays are in love, find love or seek it. Twelfth Night, reputedly the most
mature of Shakespeare s romantic comedies, weaves several such love stories into an intricate collage
to explore different types of love and its easy descent into pain or folly.
John Gross, in a 1991 review of Twelfth Night in the Sunday Telegraph, said Twelfth Night is about
true love and its egocentric counterfeits. Orsino s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Viola Orsino and Benedick Beatrice loves are comparable, since both are constant, clear eyed, and
more based on a weathered and thorough understanding of each other than on mere physical attraction
theirs is the marriage of true minds . Even true love could be silly though, as Kenneth Branagh,
playing Benedick in his 1993 version, displays in his antics when bitten by the lovebug; Newsweek, in
a 1993 review of this adaptation, aptly judged it as portraying the absolute absurdity and absurd
absoluteness of love.
In comparison, though Claudio is genuinely attracted to Hero, his love seems fickle, jealous and
immature. Claudio, a sensible conventional wooer, first verifies Hero s social and financial
compatibility ( Hath Leonato any son...? ), but their relationship lacks trust and instinctive
understanding of each other. This is the reason Claudio believes Don John s intrigue, though Hero,
being sweet and submissive, remains true to him regardless of his treatment of her. Their union
therefore seems less sound than Beatrice and Benedick s and less acceptable to a modern audience,
which is probably why, in the 2005 Shakespeare Retold version of Much Ado, Hero declines Claude s
second offer.
Sebastian and Olivia s love too, though true, doesn t seem on par with the Viola Orsino and Beatrice
Benedick loves in terms of depth and appreciation of each other. Despite falling in love in a flash and

Can a horrible truth be expressed in words how it felt as a feeling? Tim O Brien s The Things They
Carried, a collection of stories about his service in the Vietnam War, raises exactly such questions, and
in remembering, O Brien endeavors to answer them for himself.
The short story Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, is a tale of the horrors of war, and how quickly
violent experiences can change one from civilized gentle to uncivilized inhumane who enjoys killing
others. The story tells about an ideal American young girl s transformation into a savage, who
becomes emotionless while visiting her boyfriend, a soldier, in Vietnam. This story shows that a war
can bring up the savage characteristics within human beings, whether male or female. This is shown
through the development of Mary Anne. Initially she was amiable and innocent, but she rapidly
became more disconnected to society a trained killer. Her story shows the mental transference of
humans at war, and how they can be converted from sympathetic people into unsocial, who is capable
of performing the most dreadful acts.

that since he is the oldest man in the town he has been there for a long time and could warn the other

Historical Trends Of Human Service Policy
Historical Trends in Human Service Policy In the context of human service, the current practice of
social welfare in Europe and America is a product of evolutionary change. The social welfare structure
in countries such as Canada, France, and the United States draw from English social welfare policies
that created foundational structures of current social welfare practice. The practice of social welfare
traces back to English heritage spanning back to a time when English policies operated in British
colonies (Guest, 1997). English policies such as the Elizabethan Poor Laws of 1594 and 1601 and the
1662 Law of Settlement and Removal defined human service and social welfare in England and her

In addition, the paper also analyzes the net gains and losses of these trends to the society. One of the
profound historical trends in regards to human service was the English poor laws that governed the
treatment of the poor. Following the enactment of the Elizabethan poor laws in 1601, the English
embarked on an entirely new approach of dealing with the poor in the society. While the poor laws
appeared harsh in England and colonial in English colonies, these laws defined policies that
spearheaded action in human service in regards to the treatment of the poor in society. Essentially, the
concepts, ideologies, policies, approaches, and discourse provided by the pool laws defined a human
service structure that still informs the current practice of social welfare (Carniol, 2005). Prior to the
Elizabethan poor laws, the practice of social welfare consisted of voluntary subscription to a poor
relief fund by the poor coupled with the use of harsh punishment to discourage vagabonds and beggars
(Guest, 1997). This practice related to a general assumption that paupers or rather the poor suffered
from moral deficiency that render them poor and dependent (Hasenfeld Garrow, 2012). In this regard,
the treatment of the poor was most often than not harsh. The Elizabethan poor laws however ushered
in a new dispensation that resumed full public responsibility for the poor and the destitute in the
society. The establishment of a public tax supported system aimed at providing

Fear And The Forced Evacuation
Fear and the Forced Evacuation of the Japanese Americans How do explain something that is
completely in the wrong as ok? Why can people, organizations and even governments make irrational
decision over and over again? The United States prides itself on it s ability to be a free country and
support freedom of religion and freedom of speech but throughout history their are numerous accounts
of the United States going against it s own beliefs and treating it s people in terrible ways. One
example of the United States going against it s pride in equality and rhetoric of democracy and acting
in ways of exclusion and inequality is during World War II when the United States forced evacuation
of the Japanese to internment camps. The memoir, Looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When they pulled the nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans the government was acting on fear. The
government was not only scared of a future attack but also the government feared the difference in
cultures. The Japanese lifestyle was significantly different than they popular American lifestyle. The
Japanese did speak a different language and did believe in a different religion. They ate different foods
and played different games. Many did strive to enjoy the ways of American culture as well, I grew up
playing hopscotch and jacks, learning kendo and ikebana. I studied U.S. history at school and
Japanese on Saturday. For breakfast I ate scrambled eggs and mochi. Dinner could include fried
chicken and sushi, (11). The Japanese strived to be both but the government devastatingly didn t
understand. The government feared the different culture and beliefs and their possibilities they had for
the country. Most Japanese were highly productive, successful people in whatever work they pursued.
As a result they became the brunt of some non Japanese people s fears, envy and prejudice. The war
provided the excuse for removing the Japanese from the West Coast and to eliminate competition and
literally take over whatever gains the Japanese had made, (92). Placing the Japanese Americans into
interment camps proved the governments fear of the Japanese culture even though the

The Fundamental Principles Of A Republic
In June of 1915, the United States is fighting World War One in Europe, while women, including Anna
Howard Shaw, continue to fight for suffrage rights at home. As the war rages on, women commit to
their suffrage movements by giving speeches and marching in parades. On June 21, Shaw
persuasively speaks to the people of New York at an equal suffrage campaign as they prepare to vote
on a law concerning women s suffrage rights. She intends to give evidence to her listeners and
persuade them to support the women of New York and eventually all of the women in America, to
vote. Shaw uses The Fundamental Principles of a Republic to prove the true purpose of the women s
suffrage movement, expose the illogical arguments of her opposition, and to convince all of her
listeners (the male voters of New York) to vote for women s right to vote through logical and rational
arguments. In Shaw s speech, she questions America s identity as a true republic because of the
inability to escape the past conceptions of woman s place in society, and she uses logic to argue the
necessity of moving forward to create equality for all types of people, regardless of gender or race.
She claims that all people should be equal in a republic. Therefore, America is only partially a republic
because women are not given the same rights as men nor the right to vote. Although she belittles the
character of the founding fathers who succumbed to the same sort of prejudices that had driven them

Are Eyewitness Retention Consistent Evidence For An Offense?
The memory of an eyewitness has always been an endless dispute throughout the narration of its
existence. The word of an individual holds the most substance; it s the only real thing of value that
person hold, having a witness of a crime is a criminal s vilest nightmare. There is a phrase that may
have been heard in movies and reality, eyewitness do not live too long. This phrase has range amongst
people revealing the reputation of eye witnessing for the majority and jury. All evidence used to
convict a person has to go through a vigilant examination process especially the testimony of an
eyewitness. So much emphasis is put on a truthful and accurate testimony because there has been a
false testimony, which cause consequences and complications. Criminal justice systems should
demand their district to notice there is an occurrence of bad witness memory, because the brain will
juggle and play games with the hauler. Predominantly, the mix up happens because of the perception
particularities the individuals mind has mad up and the original information. Memory is simply the
development of perception, how the brain process what is seen and reproduces it later. Since there is a
chance that the reproduction of once memory will be wrong that makes it essential to the individual
does not damage the facts. This accentuates the stress on the knowledge of the eyewitness well being

Questions On Material And Methods
3. Material and Methods 3.1. Measurements At the time of designing the questionnaire process, we
reviewed the comprehensive literature and adapted the relevant measures which were verified in the
existing studies to formulate the measurement items. First, since every human task can be deputed to a
software agent and such agent can perform any procurement activity on behalf of the users, that
creates many difficulties to determine and measure all IAT applications in the procurement process.
Consequently, we adapted the most important and common IAT applications to represent the measures
of IAT usage at hotels FP from Khoo, Tor [13] and O Leary [18]. Second, the FPPR were assessed by
24 items adapted from Quesada, GonzĂĄlez [42]. The five constructs of the FPPR, gathering
information, supplier contract, contracting, requisitioning and intelligence and analysis, were assessed
by 3,4,6,4, and 7 items respectively. Third, the procurement performance was also assessed by 21
items adapted fromQuesada, GonzĂĄlez [42]. The three constructs of the FPP, internal performance,
supplier related performance, and internal customer performance, were assessed by 7,7, and 6 items
respectively. Additionally, all of the items were measured by five point Likert scales ranging from not
at all = 1 to to a great extent = 5 . As a result, a preliminary questionnaire was designed. Prior steps, a

Oodgeroo Noonuccal Essay
Oodgeroo Noonuccal an Australian aboriginal poet and fighter of Aboriginal rights
In my essay I will present an Australian poet from the 20th century who after having discovered her
aboriginal roots had even changed her name and became an activist for the Aboriginal rights.
Oodgeroo Noonuccal was born as Kathleen Jean Mary Ruska on 3 November 1920 on North
Stradbroke Island in South East Queensland. Kath was a descendant of the Noonuccal people of
Minjerribah. Her totem was Kabool the carpet snake, who could not be eaten by his people. She talks
about this in her poem Ballad of the Totems. The young Kath was strongly influenced by her parents.
Her mother, Lucy McCulloch was one of the stolen generation . At the mission school she was not
taught to read or write, of which she bitterly resented, because the nuns taught her to be useful to wash
clothes, cook, clean and iron in order to work as a domestic servant in a white household. She ... Show

Her first collection was published in 1964 as We are going. Her poetry had an easily understandable
style and had strong political protest elements in it already from the beginning. Her second poetry
collection, The Dawn is at Hand , was published by Jacaranda in 1966. A third collection, My People:
A Kath Walker Collection, contained poems from the first two collections, and in later editions added
new poems and essays.
During the 1960 s not only her reputation as a poet developed but she also became increasingly
engaged in the political sphere.
Although loyal to these organisations, Walker was not convinced they could provide answers to
Australia s deep seated racism towards Aborigines. Her quest for fundamental political solutions to
Indigenous disadvantage soon propelled her into the orbit of the Communist Party of Australia and the
Union of Australian Women, both of which she joined in these

#1 eBay Selling
The first way to make more money online is to sell items on the site eBay. eBay is an online auction
and shopping website that allows you to sell your own household items online for a profit or buy a
product from the site and then resell it for a greater profit. It is probably the biggest and most popular
of this type of websites throughout the entire Internet. A good aspect of this money making plan is that
it is easy to sell products on the site.
There are some cons associated with this way of earning though. Such as the fees correlated with the
selling a product, there is more than one. Another issue is that it is not easy and a lot of work for
sometimes less than satisfactory outcome. Along with all this it can be quite difficult to determine the
right niche for your products in order to beat the heavy competition involved with whatever it might
be. All that said, there is money to be made.
#2 Sell Your Own and Other Services
The next method of earning an online income is either selling someone

Cressida Heyy Summary
Christine Overall and Cressida Heyes are two authors who argue whether transracial surgery is
legitimate under the condition of that transsexual surgery is acceptable. Their arguments are opposing
to each other. Overall insists that both surgeries should be acceptable while Heyes does not agree with
Overall. They both agree with that race and sex gender are socially constructed. Thus, Overall has no
problem with the concept of identity changes for both sex gender and race however, Heyes argues that
they are not constructed in the same way.
Christine Overall is advocating the claim that transracial surgery is not problematic if transsexual
surgery is acceptable. She brings possible arguments and discusses them against rejecters of ... Show

Someone might point out that people who want to have the surgery for identity change, which can be
either sex or race, are not be able to make a right decision or psychologically confused. However,
Overall suggests that we have seen many people who did not have any problem in their work,
relationship, and life after the surgery. If we assume that someone wants to change his or her identity
due to a confusion, this case must be considered with oppression and discrimination that this person
has experienced. Thus, it is not correct to say that people who want to change their identity are purely
due to the mental sickness or confusion. Unlike Overall, Cressida Heyes argues that transracialism is
not reasonable, while transsexualism is. Heyes brings up Overall s statement, claiming if transsexual
surgery is morally acceptable... then transracial surgery should be morally acceptable (269). Heyes
admits that the argument of Overall is clear both sex and race are socially constructed rather than
inherited. Nonetheless, Heyes throws a question if they are constructed in the same way. Heyes would
say no since Overall s hypothetical approach is not meant to consider the history of two different
identities. She also suggests few other differences between race and sex. Heyes brings three different
points between race and sex. Firstly, she introduces One Drop Rule

Logistics Structure Of An Immaculate Logistic Framework
Logistics structure orchestrating joins strategizing the surge of materials or things starting with one

logistics costs paying little respect to allowing the required level of versatility to meet the affiliation

To engineer a logistics structure, I would make each one out of our suppliers, when and what they and
they achieve, then check whether the things have remarkable properties like perishable, dry

for transport required. In like way, I would need to know more about our concentrated on clients as
this will pick the total to stock at any given time.
With a particular finished focus to outline the perfect framework, I would firstly review the present
logistics structure. It is fundamental to consider the adequately existing structure if any as this would

Music Plays A Influence On My Life
Music plays a tremendous role in my life and always has. From the age of five, my parents introduced
to me to one particular type of music, which was gospel and it has been a part of who I am ever since.
I can remember waking up early on Sunday morning hearing gospel music from artist such as Kim
Burrell, Shirley Caesar, and Mary Mary. I began learning these particular gospel songs and then I
gained the courage to sing these songs in church. At that moment, I knew singing was a passion of
mine and music became food to my soul. I would have to say the moment in my life where I strongly
became influenced by music was as a child between the ages of five and twelve.
Then when I entered middle school, I joined the school band. I played two instruments, the trombone
and trumpet. Although I truly enjoyed playing those two instruments, I ve always dreamed of playing
the piano or violin but I never gained the opportunity to receive lessons. During the seventh grade, I
joined the Needwood Middle School Choir. We sung gospel music and Christmas music during the
holiday season. With gaining so much musical experience during my time in Middle School, my
church appointed me to Youth Choir Director for Salem St. John Baptist Church.
Overall, I prefer Gospel music for so many different reasons. One of the reasons I prefer to listen to
Gospel music is because of the messages behind this type of music. God comes first and he truly is the
head of my life. As a Christian, by me listening to

  • 2. Memoirs Of A Geisha By Arthur Golden Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be . The concept behind Emerson s words are evident in the novel Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. The main protagonist, Sayuri, demonstrates the way in which her life drastically changed through self determination rather than assume the path of destiny. Destiny is simply a guideline in which one follows throughout their life however, the concept of self determination is the detailed description of which way life will go based on one s individual actions. Sayuri s determination in pursuance of the love of her life led to a better lifestyle, better sentiment of self worth and self esteem and an overall sense of happiness. In Golden s novel ... Alder, a famous author once said Every woman that finally figured out her worth, has picked up her suitcases of pride and boarded a flight to freedom, which landed in the valley of change . In regards to the novel surrounding the life of Chiyo who became the famous geisha, Sayuri, the self determination of creating a better life for herself and pursuing her love interest ultimately added the confidence and self worth that she had once lacked to ever recognize as a young girl. She describes her upcoming in the world of geisha as, ...I became aware of all the magnificent silk wrapped about my body, and had the feeling I might drown in beauty... (Golden, 187). In her journey of becoming a famous geisha, Chiyo blossomed from the innocent child who knew nothing of the world to Sayuri, the woman with fair skin and stunning grey blue eyes. Small Group Reflection In the summer of 2013, I participated in the Calvin College Entrada Scholar program, a four week intensive program for racial ethnic minority high school students to experience college learning and living while earning college credit. Another way that the program encouraged community was with small group devotion with students floormates and designated floor RA. I remember one week, the theme within the small groups was sharing our narratives. My small group consisted of a total of nine female students and our RA. The hero, Paul Morel, is very often looked upon, as the title suggests, merely as a son; not as a normal human being. Whatever problems crop up in the life of Paul Morel has been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation . Whenever someone strives to examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus complex looms large and everything else, if there is any, fades away. Sylvia Plath s sixains and uneven lines contradicted the speaker s view that love is disorderly. The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd followed the Iambic pentameter that complimented the speaker s argument that of why love is incredulous between an immortal and a mortal. The symbolism in Spinster is similar to Raleigh s because just immortality and mortality can t coexist, neither can spring or winter. The speaker in Spinster can be tempted by spring which is a symbol of love because, Only idiots/Reel giddy in bedlam spring (Plath 22). Imagery in the Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd helps reinforce the speaker s view that love is unrealistic. The imager of flowers do fade portrays how the gifts that the shepherd offers the nymph only last for a short period of time. Followers reaction towards a leader decides the effectiveness of his or her specific style of governance. Because of the importance of the subordinate, leaders must treat everyone they manage with dignity and respect. To achieve this feat, the leader must understand the meaning of culture and other aspects which stem from it and social perceptions and biases which lead to schema and ultimately unjust stereotypes. By these lens we conduct a process called attribution which is the rationalization of a person s traits, motives, abilities and situational pressures. These rationalizations are called schema. Schema are products of the human s natural process of categorizing people as groups instead of individual entities. There are many types of schema, but the most commonly known and used schema is the group schema or a stereotype. An example of a stereotype is that all football players are dumb. Even though I once was a football player, I found myself believing this stereotype during a lab. I had a question on the procedure of the lab and as I was about to ask the classmate next to me, I realized he was a football player and I did not ask him for a while because I thought he was even more confused than I was. Although this thought went through my mind, I eventually forced myself to ask him, and he knew exactly what was going on in lab. I was very angry at myself for putting this man in a stereotype and not taking the time to actually know the football player. Stereotypes in America are usually used towards social, racial, religious, and ethnic groups. Other types of schema are personal schema which are assumptions made from knowing one attribute of a person, self schemas which are thinking yourself as fat, so you may diet too much or become bulimic and become anorexic, and event schemas which are schemas created from what people expect to happen during a simple event. Schema can be dangerous especially towards people because when assumptions are made, the leader feels no need to actually get to know the individual. This can lead to ... Well, censorship breaks apart all of that freedom we fought for, and learned throughout the years. Here is why censorship should not be implemented in the United States. Throughout the years, many innovative authors have created masterpieces and best sellers, such as Cujo, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and many other classic books from Stephen king, mark twain, and other great authors. Unfortunately, many books have been challenged and banned due to the violence, gruesome, and sexual content. In 1960 To KIll a Mockingbird was released and immediately became successful. However, it s one of the most controversial and challenged book due to the fact that many schools, parents, teachers claim that the book provides content that is racially, and sexually inappropriate for young readers. Still to this day, Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, remains among one of the top banned books. This is why Books shouldn t be censored because mature readers won t get the opportunity to read the books that they can handle. As a matter of fact , Censorship removes freedom of speech from many readers including the author. Summary Of Appiah s Death Of The Duel In the first half of Death of the Duel, Appiah begins by providing the details of a duel between two prominent British government officials, using the specific example as a jumping point to discuss the general idea of dueling. The form of honor being represented in this case is that of reputation and the maintenance of regard from the general public. This concept of honor as a form of social standing is interesting because it subverts Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs and many other psychological theories that try to map out human instinct which places safety and security in higher regard than it does esteem or ego. In the case of the duel, honor is considered the highest human need, even above life itself if one considers the death toll, although that mainly applies to the aristocratic class, who had most of their basic needs taken care of already. According to Feinberg (2014), co parenting consists of four dimensions: 1.) agreement/disagree on issues 2.) work regarding childbearing 3.) supports from both parents and 4.) interactions in the family. Co parenting can be stressful after a divorce due to the change of lifestyle; it is difficult for both the parents and the children. Money, properties, and items can be divided up but not children because they need love and affection from both parents. When speaking of children, jealousy between the parents will arise, this will lead them to bad talk and rage about each other to the children. This affects a child s cognitive development and emotional state negatively because the two people they love and look up to are messing with their mind. The opportunities for crucial nurturing activities and access visits may not be provided therefore the child would lack cognitive and communication skills. (Schmidt, 2016). Truthfully, we, as a nation are also guilty of propagating this heinous practice. For over a century, this nation s youth were subjugated to exploitation and abuse at the hands of captains of industry in the hopes of extracting every ounce of profit they could. Fortunately, sympathetic individuals recognized the children s need for advocacy and rose to their defense in the form of organized dissent that appealed to the highest powers of this country to fight for those who could not fight for themselves. In this paper, we will look at what exactly child labor is, the circumstances that gave rise to the widespread acceptance of child labor usage, what working condition these children experienced, and how the United States eventually made its use illegal. What is Child Labor? Child labor is historically defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development (Hansan, 2013). • 24. Globalization And International Trade Theory International trade plays a big role in every person s life. The credit should go to every economist who has contributed to the development of international trade theory. Trade is the consequence of the human propensity to truck, barter, and exchange one thing for another (Smith, 1776). Different people have different propensities for trading, so do different economic periods have different economic conditions, which require different international trade theories. This could be the material cause for the development of international trade theory. Mercantilism was the dominant school of thought in Europe from the sixteenth century to the eighteenth century. It refers to the central policy prescription that the state should act like a merchant, augmenting the wealth of the nation by maximizing the surplus from trade with other nations (Sandelin, 2014). It measured a country s wealth by the amount of rare metals it owns. The country with more precious metals is better off than others. It aimed at making many exports and few imports to get positive trading balance. Mercantilism was dominant in France and England. Governments power were growing and they had big demand for lands at that time. This theory could be closely related to the wars during that period. At the same time the rise of more powerful European states with burgeoning bureaucracies, frequent dynastic wars that required larger and more expensive armies, and more lavish court expenditures exacerbated this ... • 25. The Importance Of Confucianism In Chinese Culture China is considered to be the first modern state in the world and has existed for thousands of years. Throughout the millennia, this civilisation and its people have continued to develop the cultural practices such as sacred teachings, which consequently has influenced their art style. Therefore, in this essay I will explore and compared themes such as Confucianism, Taoism and even their written word and how those have influences art in China through the ages. The concept of Confucianism began over two thousand five hundred years ago, and it is largely defined by three key principles. That etiquette is integral to harmony, authority is to be respected and most importantly tradition and history is to be remembered and revered. All three of these principles are equally important and Confucians believe that these teachings are the best way to have a peaceful and uncorrupted society and the best way to carry yourself as a person. However, I claimed that reverence towards tradition was the most important principle because I have found that it is the most common theme related to Confucianism that appears in Chinese art. You can see this in Xie He s Six Principles of Painting written in 550c. His sixth principle of `Transmission by Copying emphasises the importance of working from the masters artwork so you can learn from them and develop your own practice. The most common way this was manifested is when painters remake previous masters work. It is the main way we see older ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even true love could be silly though, as Kenneth Branagh, playing Benedick in his 1993 version, displays in his antics when bitten by the lovebug; Newsweek, in a 1993 review of this adaptation, aptly judged it as portraying the absolute absurdity and absurd absoluteness of love. In comparison, though Claudio is genuinely attracted to Hero, his love seems fickle, jealous and immature. Claudio, a sensible conventional wooer, first verifies Hero s social and financial compatibility ( Hath Leonato any son...? ), but their relationship lacks trust and instinctive understanding of each other. This is the reason Claudio believes Don John s intrigue, though Hero, being sweet and submissive, remains true to him regardless of his treatment of her. Measurements At the time of designing the questionnaire process, we reviewed the comprehensive literature and adapted the relevant measures which were verified in the existing studies to formulate the measurement items. First, since every human task can be deputed to a software agent and such agent can perform any procurement activity on behalf of the users, that creates many difficulties to determine and measure all IAT applications in the procurement process. Consequently, we adapted the most important and common IAT applications to represent the measures of IAT usage at hotels FP from Khoo, Tor [13] and O Leary [18]. Second, the FPPR were assessed by 24 items adapted from Quesada, GonzĂĄlez [42]. The five constructs of the FPPR, gathering information, supplier contract, contracting, requisitioning and intelligence and analysis, were assessed by 3,4,6,4, and 7 items respectively. Third, the procurement performance was also assessed by 21 items adapted fromQuesada, GonzĂĄlez [42]. The three constructs of the FPP, internal performance, supplier related performance, and internal customer performance, were assessed by 7,7, and 6 items respectively. Additionally, all of the items were measured by five point Likert scales ranging from not at all = 1 to to a great extent = 5 . As a result, a preliminary questionnaire was designed. Prior steps, a pre testing procedure with a number of faculty members in hotel and restaurant program and supply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oodgeroo Noonuccal Essay Oodgeroo Noonuccal an Australian aboriginal poet and fighter of Aboriginal rights In my essay I will present an Australian poet from the 20th century who after having discovered her aboriginal roots had even changed her name and became an activist for the Aboriginal rights. Oodgeroo Noonuccal was born as Kathleen Jean Mary Ruska on 3 November 1920 on North Stradbroke Island in South East Queensland. Kath was a descendant of the Noonuccal people of Minjerribah. Her totem was Kabool the carpet snake, who could not be eaten by his people. She talks about this in her poem Ballad of the Totems. The young Kath was strongly influenced by her parents. Her mother, Lucy McCulloch was one of the stolen generation . At the mission school she was not taught to read or write, of which she bitterly resented, because the nuns taught her to be useful to wash clothes, cook, clean and iron in order to work as a domestic servant in a white household. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her first collection was published in 1964 as We are going. Her poetry had an easily understandable style and had strong political protest elements in it already from the beginning. Her second poetry collection, The Dawn is at Hand , was published by Jacaranda in 1966. A third collection, My People: A Kath Walker Collection, contained poems from the first two collections, and in later editions added new poems and essays. During the 1960 s not only her reputation as a poet developed but she also became increasingly engaged in the political sphere. Although loyal to these organisations, Walker was not convinced they could provide answers to Australia s deep seated racism towards Aborigines. Her quest for fundamental political solutions to Indigenous disadvantage soon propelled her into the orbit of the Communist Party of Australia and the Union of Australian Women, both of which she joined in these ... It is probably the biggest and most popular of this type of websites throughout the entire Internet. A good aspect of this money making plan is that it is easy to sell products on the site. There are some cons associated with this way of earning though. Such as the fees correlated with the selling a product, there is more than one. Another issue is that it is not easy and a lot of work for sometimes less than satisfactory outcome. Along with all this it can be quite difficult to determine the right niche for your products in order to beat the heavy competition involved with whatever it might be. • 46. Cressida Heyy Summary Christine Overall and Cressida Heyes are two authors who argue whether transracial surgery is legitimate under the condition of that transsexual surgery is acceptable. Their arguments are opposing to each other. Overall insists that both surgeries should be acceptable while Heyes does not agree with Overall. They both agree with that race and sex gender are socially constructed. Thus, Overall has no problem with the concept of identity changes for both sex gender and race however, Heyes argues that they are not constructed in the same way. Christine Overall is advocating the claim that transracial surgery is not problematic if transsexual surgery is acceptable. She brings possible arguments and discusses them against rejecters of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Someone might point out that people who want to have the surgery for identity change, which can be either sex or race, are not be able to make a right decision or psychologically confused. However, Overall suggests that we have seen many people who did not have any problem in their work, relationship, and life after the surgery. If we assume that someone wants to change his or her identity due to a confusion, this case must be considered with oppression and discrimination that this person has experienced. Thus, it is not correct to say that people who want to change their identity are purely due to the mental sickness or confusion. Unlike Overall, Cressida Heyes argues that transracialism is not reasonable, while transsexualism is. Heyes brings up Overall s statement, claiming if transsexual surgery is morally acceptable... then transracial surgery should be morally acceptable (269). Heyes admits that the argument of Overall is clear both sex and race are socially constructed rather than inherited. Nonetheless, Heyes throws a question if they are constructed in the same way. Heyes would say no since Overall s hypothetical approach is not meant to consider the history of two different identities. She also suggests few other differences between race and sex. Heyes brings three different points between race and sex. Firstly, she introduces One Drop Rule ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Music Plays A Influence On My Life Music plays a tremendous role in my life and always has. From the age of five, my parents introduced to me to one particular type of music, which was gospel and it has been a part of who I am ever since. I can remember waking up early on Sunday morning hearing gospel music from artist such as Kim Burrell, Shirley Caesar, and Mary Mary. I began learning these particular gospel songs and then I gained the courage to sing these songs in church. At that moment, I knew singing was a passion of mine and music became food to my soul. I would have to say the moment in my life where I strongly became influenced by music was as a child between the ages of five and twelve. Then when I entered middle school, I joined the school band. I played two instruments, the trombone and trumpet. Although I truly enjoyed playing those two instruments, I ve always dreamed of playing the piano or violin but I never gained the opportunity to receive lessons. During the seventh grade, I joined the Needwood Middle School Choir. We sung gospel music and Christmas music during the holiday season. With gaining so much musical experience during my time in Middle School, my church appointed me to Youth Choir Director for Salem St. John Baptist Church. Overall, I prefer Gospel music for so many different reasons. One of the reasons I prefer to listen to Gospel music is because of the messages behind this type of music. God comes first and he truly is the head of my life. As a Christian, by me listening to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
