Bashar Al-Assad Research Paper
Some people look at the conflicts in the Middle East as isolated issues to that region. Others expect
America to be the world s police force, given the humanitarian crimes that so pains us morally.
However, should we put aside our moral obligations to protect our own troops? Would we lose
position as a super country? What was the benefit of getting involved in the Iraq war? Lebanese?
Vietnam? Americans sit on a pendulum, where the highs are intervention and the lows are isolation

Genovese Crime Family Research Paper
Where it all began.
The Genovese Crime Family was formed in 1892 in the Bronx and East Harlem. Originally named the
107th Street gang it was founded by Guiseppe Morello and Ignazio the Wolf Lupo. The gang became
formally known as the Morello Gang, which took part in extortion, kidnappings, and robberies. The
gang had worked closely with the Camorra for years, but because of territory issues they soon
separated. When Morello and Lupo went to jail for extortion in 1909 the Camorra decided to kill off
any Morello members. Camorra had lost the war, but the Morello gang had lost the new boss Nicholas
Morello and couldn t regain its power again. Joseph Masseria took advantage and grabbed control

There he aligned himself with Benito Mussolini and gave him large amounts of money to fund his

with the Mafia, he was okay with letting Genovese operate his drug trafficking. It was not long,
however, before Genovese was identified as an American fugitive and was brought to New York to
stand trial for the murder of Boccia (2007, p. 112). Two people testified against him, Ernet Rupolo and
Peter LaTempa. LaTempa was poisoned and Rupolo testimony wouldn t be enough to convict
Genovese. The lack of evidence acquitted him and he walked free. (p.

Olaf s Transformation
There are many stories of Olaf told by the people from his village. There is a story about Olaf
defeating a dragon in face to face combat to protect his village or him racing down a mountain of lava.
But this is the story of how Olaf got his shield. Long time ago, Olaf was a simple shepherd, living in
the mountains above his village. He was very well known for being the kindest man anyone had ever
met. He always had a smile on his face. Tales about him say he could chop down trees with his bare
hands, and that strength was useful while helping others. Every time someone was in trouble, Olaf was
there to help. He ripped trees from the roots to stop river flow, to save drowning goats, and he put out
fires burning the village all on his own. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the villagers outside held their breath, the rock around the door crumbled. When the dust cleared
they saw Olaf, standing in a room full of treasure, with a weak but happy boy in his arms. But before
they could begin to celebrate, the ground began to rumble and shake. A giant troll roared from deep
within the vault. He had a giant club, about the size of a tree. The troll charged like a frantic bull. Olaf
wasn t worried, he stood his ground and put the little boy behind. The troll bashed Olaf with his club,
but Olaf did not shift from his position. The troll was big and strong, but he was no match for Olaf s
might. Olaf grabbed the club with one hand, and crushed it with the sheer force of his palm. He picked
up the troll and spun him around like a helicopter, before hurling him deep into the mountain. The troll
was defeated, and the boy was rescued. But then suddenly the ground began to rumble and shake once
again, had the troll returned? No, the vault, it was crumbling apart! As Olaf cut his way through the
mountain, he had weakened the structure, and now it was caving in. The ceiling began to decay, Olaf
covered the boy with his back. With no obvious way out, Olaf grabbed the ice covered door, and held
it up like a shield. Protecting them as the mountain top collapsed around

Summary Of Gothic Children s Literature And The...
When encountering the title of this scholarly journal, Psychoanalysis, Gothic Children s Literature,
and the Canonization of Coraline , I was excited to delve into the gothic terrain of the subconscious.
However, Chloé Germaine Buckley s paper does not give us a straightforward analytical reading, but
instead challenges the dominant modes of interpretation when dealing with children s literature.
Buckley engages with Neil Gaiman s Coraline, challenging some of the critical responses to the book,
as well as drawing in some foundational literary criticism authors and thinkers such as Sigmund
Freud, Roland Barthes and Lewis Carroll. Buckley s intention with this paper is to oppose restrictive
interpretations of Coraline, as she posits the book to be far more complex than most examples of
children s literature. Freud s Uncanny , gothicism, and psychoanalysis have been posited as the best
tools for approaching children s literature by the critics Buckley intends to circumvent. She believes
these methods are a tangled mess that confuse origin with originality, that mistake the interpretation of
Coraline s influences as interpretations of the book itself. Buckley notices that Gaiman has drawn
satirically from Freud, offering a crash course for children on psychoanalysis and the uncanny. With
this in mind, Buckley wants to make room for more postmodern interpretations that engage
intertextuality and satirical elements, in order to fully appreciate the scope of Gaiman s book.

The Mysterious Zodiac Murders In California
The late 1960s when the first murder occurred it sent California into a panic. Fear gripped the public
as more murders started happening. Letters began to surface to the public by newspaper companies.
After decoding a letter the mystery murderer became known as the Zodiac. The mysterious Zodiac
made the public fear him by threatening the lives of numerous civilians. In Northern California the
self proclaimed Zodiac was connected to five murders from 1968 to 1969. Zodiac is also claimed to
have been responsible for more deaths. The first murder to be confirmed was of Seventeen year old
David Faraday and his girlfriend, sixteen year old Betty Lou Jensen, on December 20, 1968. They
were shot to death near the couple s car at an isolated place on Lake Herman Road, on the edge of
Vallejo, California (Internet 7). The next murder occurred on July 4, 1969 of Darlene Ferrin, twenty
two, and her boyfriend Michael Mageau, nineteen. The two drove to a parking lot nearby the Blue
Rock Springs Park, where they sat and talked. Shortly before midnight a random car pulled up next to
their car. The car stayed there for a moment but sped away. About five minutes later the car returned.

Andrew Johnson was the 17th president. Andrew became the president after Abraham Lincoln was

If Inequality Is Increasing, Are We Likely to See More...
The question assumes that there is a linear relationship between inequality and armed conflict; the rise
of the former inevitably leads to the increase of the latter. However, in the absence of functioning
communism or utopian egalitarianism, we need to concede that our world is full of inequalities, but
not all parts of the world are equally ridden by conflict. Moreover, large N studies of civil war,
conducted over the past few years, all seem to conclude that inequality is not directly linked to the risk
of civil war (Collier Hoeffler, 2004: 563 595; Fearon Laitin, 2003: 75 90; Hegre, Gissinger, Gleditsch,
2003: 251 276). Following this lead, I will argue for a non linear link between inequality and conflict
and for the multi causality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contradictory results might be explained by emphasising the diversity of the term inequality . Mount
(2008:3), classifies four different forms of inequality: political inequality, inequality of opportunities,
inequality of treatment in society, inequality of membership in society. To this list we could add the,
partly overlapping, categories of inequality of race, gender, status, class, age, income, inequality of
access to resources, education and medical services. At any given place and time, the specific
constellation and degree of various forms of inequality will be unique. Can we expect distinct
constellations and levels of inequality to conform to the simple linear relationship suggested in the
title? Besançon s (2005) findings that different socio political set ups have differing results with
regards to conflict are but one hint towards greater complexity. As a result, she associates herself with
academics suggesting that causes for all types of civil wars and armed conflict are not necessarily
parallel. Instead, she argues, a micro analysis of specific cases might prove more fruitful. A claim for
complexity can be further underpinned by invoking Stewart s (2000) analysis of horizontal inequality.
Structurally, one can distinguish between vertical inequality, which is based on objectively
quantifiable differences between people (e.g. income, wealth, etc.) and

Balancing Ecosystems
Dear City Council: I am writing you concerning matters of restoring balance to the city s ecosystem.
An ecosystem is a factor in the biological community that consists of occurrences locally, chemical
factors, as well as physical, make up the environment non living or abiotic. The unbalanced ecosystem
in Sparksville s aquatic system is the situation at hand. The boundaries of this ecosystem are being
addressed for reasons having to do with the goal of restoring the lake back to normal. The invasions of
Grass Carp have made it almost impossible for the rest of the underwater community to be in
existence. The changes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leaves of the new plants can contain chemicals that add to the ecosystem problem in the lake.
Many more problems can occur within the environment, leaving animals are to feed off of the non
native harmful crops, and the chain will go on because humans feed off of animals. Ultimately the
entire community can be affected by this Carp problem. Keep in mind it is not the intent of the
invasive species to be invasive or they start off being invasive then the ecosystem will find a unique
way of bringing everything under control on its own. The ecosystem in town possesses many
mechanisms that it needs to keep the whole system equally balanced. The dynamics to help persons in
this city strive and restore include predation; the need to prey on other animals is how a species
survive, but it should be under control. Conditions and temperature play a large role as well. It is the
responsibility of the humans to control the conditions that come into the town by understanding the
animals and fish that come into the environment and lake. The environment needs the help and
support of the community to be successful. When everyone is working together and not against each
other things tend to come together easier because everyone is working towards the same goal and
objective. Prairie Dog Festival held each summer celebrates the community s environment awareness.
Sparksville is facing a hardship, and the goal is to get things back in order

Concertgoers complain about the convenience charges as well as parking and facility fees that
Ticketmaster tacks on, which can account for more than thirty per cent of the cost of a ticket.
Promoters worry that, as the top grossing touring acts the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Paul McCartney,
Bruce Springsteen, U2, Madonna get older, very few younger acts are popular enough to fill stadiums
and arenas on the two year long tours that superstar rock bands undertake. (Forty per cent of the seats
at all Live Nation concerts go unsold.) Most galling to the four stakeholders involved in putting on a

in revenue to the secondary market : the Internet driven business of ticket reselling, in which ticket
brokers and scalpers profit, while the people who take the artistic and financial risks hardly participate

Lord Of The Flies Allegory Examples
Allegorical Meanings of LOTF.
Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is basically represented by three big allegories as a whole;
Political, Historical, and Religious. The allegorical meaning for the novel differs from each category
of allegory. For political, later in the book, there are two different clashing tribes representing a
different type of government. The Historical allegory compares the main characters such as Simon,
Piggy, or Ralph to famous or infamous historical people. Lastly, the meaning of the religious allegory
is that the island is the Garden of Eden and the boys are Adam and Eve. For each category of the three
different types of allegories, the meaning of the book, Lord of The Flies, as a whole differs. The

The first thing Ralph does when he gets to the island is take off his clothes and take a bath in the
lagoon. Ralph inspected the whole thirty yards carefully and then plunged in. The water was warmer
than his blood and he might have been swimming in a huge bath. (Golding, 12) This gesture relates to
the act of Baptism and the innocence of Adam and Eve. Later in the book, the boys become more
savage than civilised trying to find the beast, or snake thing when it is really just hiding inside of
them. This is just like how Adam and Eve were fooled by the satan that disguised himself as a serpent.
The Devil figure, or the Satan is another religious allegory hidden in Lord of The Flies. It is actually
hidden right in the title. Lord of the Flies in hebrew means Beelzebub which is another name for Satan
or Devil. This name is from the Canaanite Baal which means Lord and so he is known for lord of the
flies. To expand even more, the boys on the island are described with fly like behaviors and actions.

Environmental Policy
There s a Snake Eating my Dog!
The environmental stepwise process is a process people take to implement, assess, and interpret
environmental related policies. The first step is to identify the problem, this is rather simple because
there are lots of problems in our day day lives. Next you have to Pinpoint the roots of the problem,
followed by envisioning a solution for these problems. Now, a particular issue could have multiple
causes, and thus multiple solutions. The you will get organized; when it comes to influencing policy,

The government tends to look at things based on an economical standpoint that tends to run biased as
they tend to ignore the moral/ethical aspects of the issue at hand. However, citizens and businesses
tend to APPEAR on the same side of the fence because businesses will do anything to give the
customers, or citizens what they want. However, the sad reality is that many businesses Greenwash
their products into seeming more environmentally friendly.
In our everglades and the surrounding areas of Florida, there is an ever growing issue taking place.
This is an issue that many people are aware of and fear. They fear for their lives but should they be
afraid? Many people think that large constrictors are dangerous to humans, but little do people
understand that they are JUST as dangerous as a feral cat or dog. I m not saying you should go pick up
a wild burmese python and take it home as a pet. However, what I am saying, is there have been some
major overreactions to the invasion of large constrictors.
The large constrictor issue is suspected to have began with a breeding facility for large constrictors in
the everglades. What happened was a complete accident. As common practice breeders keep their
snakes in tubs on large racks, and it is rumored that during a hurricane the tubs of his breeding stock
were knocked over and the large constrictors released into the everglades where they have since

Bullying
Bullying Phoebe Nora Prince was born in England but at a young age moved to Fanore, County Clare,
Ireland. You can t get more rural than Fanore, it has one main street, blink and you miss it. In fact the
West of Ireland is notoriously rural and unspoiled. Fanore is nestled on the Irish Sea and is 10 miles

Bullies themselves are also at risk for long term negative outcomes. Several studies suggest that
bullying in early childhood may be an early sign of the development of violent tendencies,
delinquency, and other criminal behavior.
I believe that while bullying in and of itself is not delinquent behavior, it does have the potential to
lead to delinquent behavior. But there s a flip side of bullying and delinquency, according to the
Pardee RAND Graduate School dissertation No Bullies Allowed , Results show that victimization
prior to the age of 12 years is significantly predictive of the development of several delinquent
behaviors, including running away from home, selling drugs, vandalism, theft, other property crimes,
and assault. Ultimately the parent of the bully bears the responsibility for bullying. They need to
address the situation with their child, getting help for the child s aggressive behavior. But like so much

This part is fluttered with strings, winds, and, more importantly, high pitched notes that the choir must

this section is adagio, similar to that of Introitus. Like Introitus, Lacrimosa shares the same meter
signature as well as the same tone throughout. The singers build up into a fortissimo volume, and then
drop into a piano tone. However, there are some differences to notice, such as the increased use of
winds in Lacrimosa and the decreased use of brass instruments. Instead of focusing more on making a
bold statement or emitting tones of melancholy, like Introitus, Lacrimosa provides a sense of
conclusion to the symphony as well as to the theme of Requiem. This is what it succeeds in, thus,
emitting a passive tone, despite the various crescendos. Although there are no diminuendos featured in
Lacrimosa, the audience gets a sense of piano by the sudden drop in note. Without a doubt, Lacrimosa
concludes the symphony in a way that sounds pleasing to the audience as well as ending the journey

My Life In College
Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and
snow. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as well as
dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us will
experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college.
College for some people can be this once in a lifetime experience that creates friendship, memories,
and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress. Regardless of all of that,
college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence, money, and future careers. All
of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life. Bowling Green and Findlay
University both seem to be very sound and reasonable choices; however, Bowling Green looks to be
the better choice due to costs and their business programs. As for Bowling Green, which is my first
choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had a massive campus, well, at least compared
to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and plenty of faculty to go around for the students.
Needless to say that during that first visit, I was blown away and beyond impressed with everything I
saw. So after looking more into it, there are definitely a lot of different reasons that I was even more
inclined to go there. The first thing I looked at was the tuition, which was a surprising

Outsider In To Kill A Mockingbird
Discuss the theme of an oustider in Silas Marner and To Kill a
Mockingbird.
What is an outsider? The dictionary defines that an outsider is a person excluded from a group. The
outsider plays an important part in both novels. In Silas Marner by George Eliot Silas is the main
outsider, however in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee even though
Boo is the obvious outsider there are many others.
Silas Marner is written by George Eliot, which is the pen name of
Mary Ann Evans. She had to change her name to a man s name to avoid facing prejudice, as it was not
seen proper for a lady to write books, this also makes her an outsider. Due to this she could be more

To Kill a Mockingbird is set in a town called Maycomb in Alabama. It is written in the 1950 s but is
set in 1933 1935. At the time it was set and at the time it was written there was a lot of prejudice
against black people in America, especially in the southern states.
The 1930 s were also the time of the depression, which meant that many people had gone bankrupt.
The Jim Crow laws were also still in motion, which created a segregation of white and black people.
In the 1950 s civil rights were important in the U.S.A as black people were fighting for them. It was
also the time when the majority of white males were members or sympathisers of the Ku Klux Klan.
This adds to the theme of an outsider in this book, because one of the outsiders Tom Robinson is the
victim of racial prejudice.
Both novels are set thirty years before they are written and both are a hundred years apart. This shows
that prejudice is constantly around.
In the town of Maycomb hierarchy makes outsiders of people. The Finchs are regarded as southern
aristocracy but later become outsiders because Atticus defends Tom Robinson. The Radleys are
outsiders because they are so conspicuous and secretive. The Cunninghams and the
Ewells have both been bankrupt due to the depression. However the
Cunninghams faced it bravely where as the Ewells became dishonest and depraved. They are the white
trash of the society, which makes them
outsiders.

public, you get excited and converse with them because you have found another member of the club.
To people who are non bilingual, bilingualism may be used to classify those who do not belong in
your country. To English language learners, bilingualism is one s identity and their connection with
their culture. The different opinions on bilingualism have created conflict and struggles for non native
speakers. Espada describes bilingualism in The New Bathroom Policy at English High School as
something that defines one s identity and history. He expresses it as dual language speakers being able
to use the tongue of their history and identity (19). With the increasing attempts to get rid of non
native speakers, English language learners should fight to preserve their identities. Espada argues, The
repression of Spanish is part of a larger attempt to silence Latinos, and, like the crazy uncle at the
family dinner table yelling about independence or socialism, we must refuse to be silenced (297).
Espada argues that bilingual people have the responsibility to protect their culture by going against the
repression of their language. In order to prevent the silencing of a language, bilingualists must band
together. Going out in public and hearing a foreign language, people subconsciously assume the
foreigners are speaking about them. Native speakers become self conscious and filled with fear.
Espada believes non bilingual people s attempts to silence English language learners result from the
fear of not understanding a foreign language. A staff member at Lynn English High School stated, In a
spasm of paranoia, many Anglos assume that the only reason Latinos speak Spanish in their presence
is to say diabolical things about those same Anglos (Espada 121). The inability to understand the
Latino s language results in the assumption that they re badmouthing Anglos. Espada points out that
bilingualism generates toxicity because English only speakers feel bilingual people are talking behind
their back. Espada views

Civic Mirror
While it s true I had a blast using the Civic Mirror, and as much as it taught me about how Parliament
passes laws and the political process, it has some serious omissions: there is no Governor General,
there is only one level of government, and there is no Senate.
The Governor General in Canada represents the Monarch (Queen Elizabeth II) and acts as the Head of
State (the highest ranking position in a sovereign state) in Canada and abroad. This is a significant
position because it is the highest position in Canada and because it represents the Monarch, which has
the highest authority. Personally, I do not think this is a position that needs to be included in Civic
Mirror. Firstly, there is no Monarch in Civic Mirror. However, for the purpose of the game, the
Governor General could act on his own without the Monarch, but that wouldn t be as accurate to real
life. Plus, what would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This level, as it is named, deals with laws that affect Provinces or Territories. This level usually is
involved with health care, education, natural resources and road regulations. The significance of this
level is second to Federal government, but should not be ignored. This level controls entire provinces,
including the cities within them. Now, Civic Mirror isn t large enough to effectively support
provinces, and so a provincial government wouldn t really fit in a classroom. However, if a much
larger scale version of Civic Mirror was developed... Again I ll get to that at the end of this review.
Last but not least is the Municipal government. The Municipal government has everything to do with
cities, towns or districts (municipalities). Municipal government is responsible for parks, libraries,

Human Computer Interaction
2. Introduction Today, computerized mechanism and ICT (information and communication
technology) have a significant impact on human life process. What was on the top of the Maslow s
Hierarchy of Needs is now performing a vital role in each human life. Due to the swift growth in the
technology industry and hardware and software development computerized systems and machines are
used on an everyday basis by almost everyone, even people from different fields which are not related
to computing. Major sectors such as aviation, healthcare, banking and education adopted computer

Child Support Case Summary
Madison County DHR representative s testimony revealed that since the main issue is the arrears, the
custodial parent (CP), Ms. Foxhill, originally opened her case for child support services in September
2014. At that time, the case was setup on the DHR s system for collection. DHR instructed the non
custodial parent (NCP) to begin making payments through the Child Support Payment Center. Shortly
thereafter on October 31, 2014, the CP closed her case with DHR. On December 18, 2014, the CP
reopened the child support case for collection. At that time, DHR ran a spreadsheet in accordance with
the CP s Affidavit of Past Due Support to determine the arrears and interest in December when the

Staagen stated that from the date of the divorce until August 2011 he paid the $1,323.00 without ever
missing a payment, completely supporting his children. Mr. Van Staagen quoted from the agreement,
page 2, Husband shall pay to the wife for the support and maintenance of the children the sum of
$1,323.00 per month until each child shall attain the age of nineteen years or shall marry, whichever
shall first occur. He stated this is a confusing sentence to him because it does not say pay $1,323.00 a
month until both children turn age 19. He stated he understand that this may not be the intent of what
the document should say but it clearly says until each child obtain the age of 19; does not state
anything about coming back to court to change the child support after the first child turn 19 or
anything like that. He stated it left both, he and the CP to believe that once a child turn 19, the support
should be reduced. To add to that, the NCP stated when the oldest child was 17; she went away to
school in August 2011. The NCP stated that in August 2011, the CP requested him to give half the
support to their oldest child and the other half to the CP. That continued until the oldest child turn 19
at which time he stopped paying child support directly to the oldest child;

Event On February 14, 1962, Jacqueline Kennedy gave an hour long televised tour of her restoration
of the White House. With CBS News correspondent, Charles Collingwood by her side, Jackie
Kennedy showed America the historic site, which was the first ever television tour inside. The film
aired on both CBS and NBC at 10 o clock p.m., and was later rebroadcasted by ABC later in the week.
The program reached a shocking 80 million viewers. This scripted broadcast fostered the awareness
that the White House during the Kennedy Administration was different from that of those before. This
home was one of elegance and grace, which was emulated by the First Lady, who America was able to

Kennedy s tour is representative of the role as a whole. This can be seen through the portrayal of first
ladies through media coverage. It is clear the media plays a role in the formation and solidification of
the First Lady stereotype, which is the visible symbol of the American woman of the time. The
broadcast also brings forward questions of public and private life. Because of this portrayal, are there
expectations of how all women should fulfill their gender role in society?
There has always been a semblance of tension between the press and the First lady, as they represent
women who are achieving more public power over time. Gutgold puts it perfectly when she says; To

The first atrocity that was presented in Elie Wiesel s memoir Night, was when everyone in the wagon
was beaten by inmates. Abruptly, our doors opened. Strange looking creatures, dressed in striped
jackets and black pants, jumped into the wagon. Holding flashlights and sticks, they began to strike us
left and right... (Wiesel 28). In this quote Elie calls the inmates creatures to demonstrate that the
prisoners become inhumane attacking innocent people. The second atrocity was portrayed when Idek

PRINCIPLES DERIVABLE FROM THE CASE
The law of the place were the property is situated (Lex situs) determines the characterization of
property when problems arise, if things that are physically movable are moved from a jurisdiction
which regards them as legally immovable to a jurisdiction which regards him as legally movable. The
new lex situs determines their character as held in the case of Re Hoyles.
Shares and securities are deemed to be situated in the place where between the shareholder and the
company, they can be effectively dealt with according to the law under which the company was
incorporated as held in R v WILLIAMS and BRASSARD v SMITH.
For equitable conversion to apply based on the principle of equity, which regards as done that which
ought to be done, there must be an obligation or a direction for sale as regards sale of land.
No country takes notice of the revenue laws of another. HOLMAN v JOHNSON per Lord Mansfield
and as stated in the case of MUNICIPAL CITY COUNCIL v BULL and GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
v TAYLOR by the House of Lords. This principle is applicable on the basis that the settled Land Act
1882, section 22(5) applicable in Ireland by virtue of the Irish free state constitution is only applicable
in Ireland and cannot be extended to apply to matters relating to English revenue that is English shares
securities, which are to be governed by English revenue law,

Medieval Feudalism
Everyone gained and got something from feudalism, even Kings. In the Medieval Ages, Kings gave
land in return for what his part of the feudal system. All the land in Medieval Europe was owned by
the Kings ( People of the Middle Ages 2), and the king would make laws, with ministers and
parliament (Macdonald, 30). Since there was only one of him, he gave land to loyal Lords and Knights
to rule land ( People of the Middle Ages ). The king would give land to Knights, who would become
vassals. The king even allowed peasants to make a living off his land which would take place in for

Lords and vassals were in charge of the land given to them by the King. Feudal Lords gained many

Myths about Serial Killers
The phenomenon of serial killers has attracted immense attention from the public, to the media, and
has even crawled its way into Hollywood. Unfortunately because of their glorified fame, many myths
about serial murderers have surfaced. It is important that the facts are known instead of incorrect
information that backslides the understanding of the problem itself. The following list is that of the
more popular myths about serial murderers and the facts that correct these myths. 1. Everyone is at
danger from a serial killer. The problem with this myth is that serial killers have a specific victim
typology that they target. They do not just target victims at random, there is always some method to
their madness. For example, the elderly is not normally targeted by serial murders and serial murders
are known to be more prevalent in urban areas rather than in rural areas (Holmes Holmes, pg. 10). 2.
The FBI is involved in a serial murder cases. This myth can be attributed to television and the many
shows that air showing the FBI and their specialized division, the Behavioral Analysis Unit, helping to

The Pros And Cons Of The Fourteenth Amendment
The Fourteenth Amendment has, overall, been a great incorporation into the Constitution through its
equal protection clause, due process clause, and other specific feature such as the ability to be show
the presence of the separate but equal mindset invested amongst individuals in the Court case of
Plessy v. Ferguson, the implementation of said mindset in the decision of the Brown v. The Board of
Education Supreme Court case, the usage of the due process clause in the 2000 presidential election
between Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore, and both equal protection clause and de
process clause in the more recent case of obergefell v. hodges. First off, Plessy v Ferguson is a prime
example for the use of the fourteenth amendment s equal protection clause protecting Homer Plessy,
enforcing a separate but equal mindset among the people touched by this court case, and demonstrated
the strength of the equal protection clause. Homer Plessy In the 1892 incident, Plessy refused to sit in
Jim Crow car (expression meaning Negro, racial segregation directed toward African Americans),
breaking Louisiana law. At first the Supreme Court didn t believe his constitutional rights were
violated. Their reason behind this is that it was a state law that implies merely a legal distinction
between whites and people of color. To them, it did not violate the 13th or 14th amendment. This state

have a long term relationship with their customers and clients. It would act as CPFR. Since GPI has
one dedicated employee working onsite for their client, it would help them to build collaborative

Example: Projectline is a recruiting firm based in Seattle, they do the same and has been successful to
establish themselves in the market. One of their preferred client is Microsoft, and Projectline has 1
manager who works on Microsoft site and completely dedicated to their business.
With help of MS office, it would be easy to generate reports. As mentioned on the Exhibit 2 2.1, the

Cutting A Friend Loose Sucks
Cutting a friend loose sucks. It s akin to cleaning out a closet that s been jammed packed for
years...you avoid it for as long as possible but you end up sucking it up because you can t get new
clothes until you make space by getting rid of the old. You have to decide what stays or goes, then if
you decide to hang on to an article of clothing, you run the risk of it eventually turning into clutter and
making you regret keeping it around when you had to chance to free up the space, or, you worry that
six months into the future, you ll think that you shouldn t have gotten rid of that old faithful dress that

necessary but the thought alone makes your stomach hurt.
I spoke to a close friend recently and she was feeling down because she had to break up with a friend

thinking about just how painful it really is to break up with a friend. We re absolutely conditioned to

Now with many people sick the only other option after numerous prescriptions that make the people

Marijuana first dated euphoric use dates back to 2737 BC. Its use spread from China to India, in the

How Does Mr Keating Make Decisions In Dead Poets Society
In Dead Poets Society, many of the boys face difficult decisions and make choices, sometimes because
of pressure to do so, but other times they use their own judgements based on influences and what they
ve been taught to make their own decisions. Throughout the movie, John Keating, the boys literature
teacher, teaches them how to be independent and have a unique voice in their writing and life.
Because of Keating s teachings, the boys make decisions they might not have made before Mr.
Keating came to them. Mr. Keating is an example of how a single person can set the minds of other
people down a different path of life, and his teachings show in the decisions by some of the boys, such
as Neal, Charlie, and Todd. At the end of the movie, Neal s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Keating repeatedly teaches the boys how to act on their own, Todd falls into his reserved, introvert
ways and chooses not to go the first few meetings of the Dead Poets Society, and doesn t write a poem
for Keating s class because he doesn t want to present it in front of the class. Keating makes him get to
the front of the class however, and guides Todd through making an impromptu poem. This experience
makes Todd come out of his shell a little more, and he starts hanging out with the other guys more
throughout the movie. Towards the end however, Todd finds himself in Mr. Nolan s office being
pressured into signing a paper that states that Mr. Keating s teachings led to Neal s suicide, and would
lead to Keating being fired. All of the guys besides Charlie signed the paper, and Charlie was expelled
from Wellton. Mr. Nolan takes over Mr. Keating s class, and Keating shows up to gather the last of his
possessions before he leaves for good. Todd tries to speak to Keating, and defying the orders from
Nolan, he stands on his desk and says to Mr. Keating, Captain of my Captain. Todd stands up for
himself and what he believes in, and one by one, the other boys stand on their desk and echo Todd,
leaving Mr. Nolan

Essay on Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will Propaganda
Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will Propaganda I am going to discuss whether Leni Riefenstahl s
Triumph of the Will (1934) was propaganda, or a representational recording of an event. Riefenstahl
was considered an intricate part of the Third Reich s propaganda machine[1] , yet she claimed that: If
you see this film again today you ascertain that it doesn t contain a single reconstructed scene.
Everything in it is true. And it contains no tendentious commentary at all. It is history. A pure
historical film... it is film vérité. It reflects the truth that was then in 1934, history. It is therefore a
documentary[2] It is clear that there are two very different parts to this story, with ... Show more

The Germans gave Hitler full credit for the improvement of the economic situation.[5] The fact that
Hitler was adored throughout Germany for his apparent rescue of their situation meant that he was
incredibly influential. People would listen to his every last word, but Riefenstahl was not somebody
who liked to work to anybody s tune. I ll try it. But only if I can be free after completing this project
and do not have to make any more films to order[6] This compromise lead to a lot of tension between
Hitler and Riefenstahl, and Hitler s idea for the opening of the film was believed terrible by
Riefenstahl, due to its lack of artistic merit I [Hitler] would therefore like to make the following
suggestion: I will ask the most important generals and members of the party to come to a film studio I
will be present too. Then we will line up, and the camera will move slowly down the line. This will
make it possible to emphasise the contributions of each person with a few words. That could be the
opening credits of your film[7] This idea for the opening implies that there would be no emotion at all,
and would not be something that would influence people. It appears that Hitler s idea was

The Habsburg and Ottoman Empire
Throughout history there has been many religious conflicts. Of those, the Habsburg and Ottoman
Empire are two of them. The Habsburg Empire was considered a Catholic Empire and the Ottoman
was an Islam Empire. Charles V owned the Habsburg Empire. He inherited castile Aragon (Spain) and
the Habsburg territories. He also became the ruler of Aztec and Inca Empires in the Americas. (Sivers,
Desnoyer, Stow 2012 Pg. 537) After battling against France in 1519, Charles was the title of emperor.
In 1299, Osman Bey was in charge of the Ottoman Empire when he established independent rule in
Anatolia. The expansion of the Ottoman Empire began in 1453.
The battle in which Charles encountered was just the start of his religions war. At first religion served
to support political authority. While he won the title of emperor, he also was made overlord of all
German principalities and supreme among the monarchs of western Christianity. Although this title
did not mean much in terms of power and financial gain in either the German principalities or western
Christianity as a whole, it made him the titular political head of western Christianity and thereby the
direct counterpart of Sultan Suleyman in the struggle for dominance in the Christian Muslim world of
Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa. (Sivers, Desnoyer, Stow 2012 Pg. 537 538)
After this was when things started to get harder for Charles V. He was faced with Religious
differences as a challenge to political authority. Charles V.

Victor Frankenstein s Monster
Frankenstein s monster is an eight foot tall, malformed human child. The monster has the mind of a
child in an eight foot body, green with a nail in his head, Frankenstein s monster is mentally a child,
and we see its evolution through traditional child development during its narrative. Victor
Frankenstein s role as father is intensified by that fulfillment of every parent s dream: he can
deliberately, knowingly create his child; he can choose the parts. It is especially ironic, then, that he
hates what he sees. Victor produces such a grotesque model for his procreation in part as a response to
his own aggressive feelings toward his parents and the guilt these emotions provoke. He is anxious

anguish, but its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes (Shelley, 99) The
monster s deal Do your duty towards me, and I will do mine towards you resonates with the sound of
Mary Wollstonecraft s parental advice: A right always includes a duty, and I think it may likewise
fairly be inferred that they forfeit the right who do not fulfill the duty. Since Frankenstein does not act
out his proper role, his creature condemns him as the author at once of my existence and its

The American Election Process Is Good For The Country
The American Election Process Ever since the early beginning of America standing as its own
individual free country, we annually elect a new leader to run our country for a 4 year term. Every new
time to elect a new president, Americans are pressured to go out and vote for their leader that they
want to run the country. Somewhere through the many years and elections, people have begun to
outcry that the elections are not fair or biased and has raised the question if the way elections are run,
is good for the country. The United States election process is good as it fairly elects a new president
every four years, it provokes people into exercising their basic right to vote, and it helps always elect a
new candidate over having a single leader for life.
Throughout the history of America, a lot of things have happened for Americans to be able to elect
their leader. The Revolutionary war was the pinnacle point as it was the war that separated America
from the control of Great Britain and is what landed America as a country of its own and not to be
controlled by any other country. But a downside to this war was that even though it let people elect
their leaders, it only let a specific person to elect a leader, specifically white male land owners. Next
came the civil war which was fought to free African American slaves from the hand of the
Confederate States of America, which wanted to succeed from the north and keep slavery as they
deemed it was their right to own slaves, and

Goldfish Climate Change
Introduction
Natural selection is arduous but it is also amazing to see how some aquatic organism evolved over
time with pollution and specifically global warming. Since global warming will increase heat in
aquatic habitat, thermal behavior will evolve as well (Bolnick 2003, et al). Ectothermal species are
very fascinating due to their capability to live in a wide variety of climate change on earth. Knowing
about their ability would explain their tolerance even though we are going through a big climate
change every day (Sollid 2006). As a conformer Carassius auratus would not mind being within a
range of different environment without too much suffocation as long as it s not over their limit. Being
responsive to climate change would have an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Added temperature furthermore drops the quantity of oxygen molecules, which is dissolved in the

When the temperature is cooler these particles encompass less energy and there is less change that
they get separated from each other. In contrast atomic particles are more energetic when the

The Church s Ministry On Teaching And Learning
The church s ministry on teaching and learning is simultaneously a simple and complex ministry. It is
a ministry that is potentially misunderstood more often than it is understood in the life of a
congregation. As the congregation struggles to combine secular life with spiritual practice, the vision
for the teaching and learning ministry of the church can fall out of focus for those who feel called to
this ministry s vocations. To begin, I will define the teaching and learning ministry of the church as I
understand it followed by an elaboration of its definition. Lastly, I will discuss a few implications of
this ministry as it applies to a congregation.
The church s ministry of teaching and learning is the collective discernment of the community, as
loving people of God, which integrates and challenges the understanding of their presence as
individuals in an ever deepening connection with God and their community of neighbors through
various reflective methods and practices, which engage scripture, tradition, experience, and reason.
This definition may appear simple if taken at its face value. However, upon further inspection its
elements contain subtle meanings even multiple layers of meaning. Thus, further explanation of these
elements is required and displayed herein.
The main element of this definition is community. Humanity, generally speaking, is social in nature
which leads individuals to gather into groups of various sizes. These groups or communities can be

H. H Holmes Accomplishments
Henry Howard Mudgett, better known as H.H Holmes, to most is just a ghost story. He is nothing
more than a black mark on America s extensive history, a part of history that is skipped over more
often than not. However, H.H Holmes was an important part of United States history. Without the
horrors of H.H Holmes, we would not have as strong of a law enforcement as we do today. H.H
Holmes helped open a new world of research to psychologists and without him, psychologists would
not have as much knowledge of the impacts of poor mental health as they do today. Because of H.H
Holmes, the government would not know how to punish crimes of such high degree, or how to
contribute certain factors such as mental illness for such crimes. H.H Holmes helped ... Show more

He grew up secluded with his two brothers, Henry and Arthur, and his sister Ellen. He also grew up
with his parents who were devout Methodists. A common factor about serial killers is that they usually
grew up in a strictly religious household. His home life was hard because of his mentally and
physically abusive parents, especially his father. Researchers have found out that his father used
tactics such as prolonged isolation and even food deprivation. Furthermore, his father reportedly held
kerosene soaked rags over Holmes and the other children s mouths to quiet them when they cried.
(Concordia University). A child s relationship with their parents is crucial in their development.
Psychologists have researched this specific topic for years and drew the conclusion that, Without the
safety net of a secure attachment relationship, children grow up to become adults who struggle with
feelings of low self worth and challenges with emotional regulation. They also have an increased risk
of developing depression and anxiety. (How Childhood Trauma). Because of his parents neglecting,
his idea of relationships was skewed, and he became isolated. He had no positive relationship to
model after and that really took a toll on his social life. In fact, It is possible that Holmes...was so
traumatized by the abuse that it ultimately led to his inability to form meaningful relationships.
(Concordia University). He was bullied at school for being smarter than the rest of the class and
having no friends. His most notable bullying incident was when Holmes, blindsided by classmates,
was forced into a doctor s office, where the hands of a skeleton were forcibly placed over his face.
(Concordia University). Holmes had a phobia of doctors and anatomy as a whole, and the event was
so traumatic to him that his fear reversed itself and turned into an extreme interest, something that is
not uncommon between trauma victims. The

Walt Whitman Metaphor
Katie Leutzinger December 11, 2017 ENG 228 On Wisdom and Knowledge Walt Whitman s poem
When I Heard the Learn d Astronomer seeks to provide a brief exploration of the contrast between
wisdom and knowledge. Whitman uses numerous poetic devices and syllable stresses to conclude his
intended theme of the poem. Along with the structure, he implements purposeful character and setting
development within the eight lines of the poem. Although short in length, this work leaves much to be
discovered. Like in many of his other poems, Whitman uses free verse in this short literary work. His
free verse style in this one stanza is written without a specific pattern of rhyme or meter. Innovation
flows through the lines as Whitman is unpredictable with his rhythm. In the eight lines (one stanza) of
this poem, he creates an anecdotal feel by having the lines vary in length and giving variety to the
stressed and unstressed syllables. For example, the first two lines stress the long beat on the third
syllable with the words heard (line 1) and proof (line 2), whereas the third line stresses the fourth
syllable with shown (line 3). Then continues to the fourth line to stress the long beat on the second
syllable using a comma: When I, (line 4). These first four lines act as a setup while the speaker recalls
listening to the astronomer s lecture. Whitman demonstrates anaphora in the poem by having each line
in this setup begin with the word When to illustrate to the reader that the speaker is evoking a prior
experience. Whitman utilizes multiple contractions in this work, such as learn d , wander d , and look
d (lines 1,6,8) to exploit the illiteracy of the speaker. The contraction look d is particularly confusing
because it is already a one syllable word. The last four lines of the poem serve to describe the speaker
s reaction to the poem and propose the lesson of the poem. Though this poem is quite short, Whitman
uses several devices to construct a vivid description of the setting. At first, he describes the classroom
in which the astronomer teaches to be crowded with equations and figures. The lecture hall is filled
with people who are eager to learn about the stars or just theories about the stars

How Did Southwest Airlines Fly In Texas
Southwest Airlines which was incorporated in Texas was founded by Rollin King and Herb Kelleher
in 1966. Moreover, in 1971, Southwest began customer service, with three Boeing 737 aircraft that
serviced three Texas cities: Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio and 25 employees. However, King and
Kelleher s start up did not come easy being that a few Texas based airlines such as Braniff, Trans
Texas, and Continental Airlines initiated a legal battle to keep Southwest on the ground. Thus, in late
1970, the decision to allow Southwest Airlines to fly in Texas became final when Kelleher argued his
company s case and eventually prevailed in the Texas Supreme court. As of 2012 Southwest Airlines
had:
 About 46,000 employees
 606 Boeing 737s
 88 Boeing 717s that were from the AirTran deal
 Carried 109,000,000 passengers
 Served 97 cities
 Flown 1,284,800 trips
Furthermore, a few of Southwest s values are, but are not limited to:
 Short hauls (less than 500 miles)
 Low fares
 Providing exceptional customer service far beyond the norm, known as Positively Outrageous
Service
 Providing intense company communication, camaraderie, and fair treatment not only between
employees but also between employees and customers
 Employees having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, Before the merging of AirTran, Southwest s main objectives consisted of various business
strategies. For example, Southwest Airlines first strategy focused on point to point routes because it
eliminated the need for connections, resulted in more direct routes, reduced delays and overall travel
time. Southwest Airlines lands at small airports to steer clear of the congestion, to achieve high asset
utilization, and to provide maximum convenience for passengers. In addition, Southwest has a
workforce that is motivated in providing quick aircraft

Fallingwater Vs Kentuck Knob Essay
Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are two beautiful homes built by a man known as an architectural
genius, Frank Lloyd Wright. These houses have gained such notoriety in the architectural world that
both were named as National Historic Landmarks. The houses are located very close to each other
resting in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains of Fayette County in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Fallingwater is approximately 43 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. This home was built partly over a
waterfall on Bear Run in the Laurel Highlands. The house was built between 1936 and 1939 for Edgar
and Liliane Kaufmann, the owners of the famous Kaufmann s department store, and was intended to

Kentuck Knob is located on Chestnut Ridge which is similarly situated in the winding roads of the
Allegheny Mountains. Kentuck Knob overlooks the fantastic view of the Youghiogheny River gorge

Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob were intentionally designed alike and have many similarities but
some notable differences as well. They were both built in the Allegheny Mountains of Fayette County.
The natural landscape and architectural style was described by Wright as organic and have a natural
feel and style to match its surroundings. Both homes are integrated into the scenic and beautiful
landscape of the land. Fallingwater sits low in the valley of over the stream, but looks dramatic from
further downstream. The house has large terraces, and some of them stick straight out and hang over
the waterfall. There are very strong horizontal and vertical lines in the design of the house which
resembles the horizontal and vertical lines in the rock formations and other natural features.
Fallingwater used cantilevers to hold certain parts of the house over the stream. Some of the house
was built with the stones found in the area. The waterfall

  • 4. Olaf s Transformation There are many stories of Olaf told by the people from his village. There is a story about Olaf defeating a dragon in face to face combat to protect his village or him racing down a mountain of lava. But this is the story of how Olaf got his shield. Long time ago, Olaf was a simple shepherd, living in the mountains above his village. He was very well known for being the kindest man anyone had ever met. He always had a smile on his face. Tales about him say he could chop down trees with his bare hands, and that strength was useful while helping others. Every time someone was in trouble, Olaf was there to help. He ripped trees from the roots to stop river flow, to save drowning goats, and he put out fires burning the village all on his own. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The troll charged like a frantic bull. Olaf wasn t worried, he stood his ground and put the little boy behind. The troll bashed Olaf with his club, but Olaf did not shift from his position. The troll was big and strong, but he was no match for Olaf s might. Olaf grabbed the club with one hand, and crushed it with the sheer force of his palm. He picked up the troll and spun him around like a helicopter, before hurling him deep into the mountain. The troll was defeated, and the boy was rescued. But then suddenly the ground began to rumble and shake once again, had the troll returned? No, the vault, it was crumbling apart! As Olaf cut his way through the mountain, he had weakened the structure, and now it was caving in. The ceiling began to decay, Olaf covered the boy with his back. • 7. Summary Of Gothic Children s Literature And The... When encountering the title of this scholarly journal, Psychoanalysis, Gothic Children s Literature, and the Canonization of Coraline , I was excited to delve into the gothic terrain of the subconscious. However, Chloé Germaine Buckley s paper does not give us a straightforward analytical reading, but instead challenges the dominant modes of interpretation when dealing with children s literature. Buckley engages with Neil Gaiman s Coraline, challenging some of the critical responses to the book, as well as drawing in some foundational literary criticism authors and thinkers such as Sigmund Freud, Roland Barthes and Lewis Carroll. Buckley s intention with this paper is to oppose restrictive interpretations of Coraline, as she posits the book to be far more complex than most examples of children s literature. Freud s Uncanny , gothicism, and psychoanalysis have been posited as the best tools for approaching children s literature by the critics Buckley intends to circumvent. She believes these methods are a tangled mess that confuse origin with originality, that mistake the interpretation of Coraline s influences as interpretations of the book itself. Buckley notices that Gaiman has drawn satirically from Freud, offering a crash course for children on psychoanalysis and the uncanny. With this in mind, Buckley wants to make room for more postmodern interpretations that engage intertextuality and satirical elements, in order to fully appreciate the scope of Gaiman s book. ... • 10. If Inequality Is Increasing, Are We Likely to See More... The question assumes that there is a linear relationship between inequality and armed conflict; the rise of the former inevitably leads to the increase of the latter. However, in the absence of functioning communism or utopian egalitarianism, we need to concede that our world is full of inequalities, but not all parts of the world are equally ridden by conflict. Moreover, large N studies of civil war, conducted over the past few years, all seem to conclude that inequality is not directly linked to the risk of civil war (Collier Hoeffler, 2004: 563 595; Fearon Laitin, 2003: 75 90; Hegre, Gissinger, Gleditsch, 2003: 251 276). Contradictory results might be explained by emphasising the diversity of the term inequality . Mount (2008:3), classifies four different forms of inequality: political inequality, inequality of opportunities, inequality of treatment in society, inequality of membership in society. To this list we could add the, partly overlapping, categories of inequality of race, gender, status, class, age, income, inequality of access to resources, education and medical services. At any given place and time, the specific constellation and degree of various forms of inequality will be unique. Can we expect distinct constellations and levels of inequality to conform to the simple linear relationship suggested in the title? Besançon s (2005) findings that different socio political set ups have differing results with regards to conflict are but one hint towards greater complexity. As a result, she associates herself with academics suggesting that causes for all types of civil wars and armed conflict are not necessarily parallel. Instead, she argues, a micro analysis of specific cases might prove more fruitful. A claim for complexity can be further underpinned by invoking Stewart s (2000) analysis of horizontal inequality. Structurally, one can distinguish between vertical inequality, which is based on objectively quantifiable differences between people (e.g. income, wealth, etc.) and ... Many more problems can occur within the environment, leaving animals are to feed off of the non native harmful crops, and the chain will go on because humans feed off of animals. Ultimately the entire community can be affected by this Carp problem. Keep in mind it is not the intent of the invasive species to be invasive or they start off being invasive then the ecosystem will find a unique way of bringing everything under control on its own. The ecosystem in town possesses many mechanisms that it needs to keep the whole system equally balanced. The dynamics to help persons in this city strive and restore include predation; the need to prey on other animals is how a species survive, but it should be under control. Conditions and temperature play a large role as well. It is the responsibility of the humans to control the conditions that come into the town by understanding the animals and fish that come into the environment and lake. The environment needs the help and support of the community to be successful. When everyone is working together and not against each other things tend to come together easier because everyone is working towards the same goal and objective. One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college. When you run into a person who speaks the same language as you in public, you get excited and converse with them because you have found another member of the club. To people who are non bilingual, bilingualism may be used to classify those who do not belong in your country. To English language learners, bilingualism is one s identity and their connection with their culture. The different opinions on bilingualism have created conflict and struggles for non native speakers. Espada describes bilingualism in The New Bathroom Policy at English High School as something that defines one s identity and history. He expresses it as dual language speakers being able to use the tongue of their history and identity (19). With the increasing attempts to get rid of non native speakers, English language learners should fight to preserve their identities. Espada argues, The repression of Spanish is part of a larger attempt to silence Latinos, and, like the crazy uncle at the family dinner table yelling about independence or socialism, we must refuse to be silenced (297). Espada argues that bilingual people have the responsibility to protect their culture by going against the repression of their language. In order to prevent the silencing of a language, bilingualists must band together. Going out in public and hearing a foreign language, people subconsciously assume the foreigners are speaking about them. Native speakers become self conscious and filled with fear. Espada believes non bilingual people s attempts to silence English language learners result from the fear of not understanding a foreign language. A staff member at Lynn English High School stated, In a spasm of paranoia, many Anglos assume that the only reason Latinos speak Spanish in their presence is to say diabolical things about those same Anglos (Espada 121). The inability to understand the Latino s language results in the assumption that they re badmouthing Anglos. Espada points out that bilingualism generates toxicity because English only speakers feel bilingual people are talking behind their back. Espada views ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Civic Mirror While it s true I had a blast using the Civic Mirror, and as much as it taught me about how Parliament passes laws and the political process, it has some serious omissions: there is no Governor General, there is only one level of government, and there is no Senate. The Governor General in Canada represents the Monarch (Queen Elizabeth II) and acts as the Head of State (the highest ranking position in a sovereign state) in Canada and abroad. This is a significant position because it is the highest position in Canada and because it represents the Monarch, which has the highest authority. Personally, I do not think this is a position that needs to be included in Civic Mirror. Firstly, there is no Monarch in Civic Mirror. Essay on Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will Propaganda Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will Propaganda I am going to discuss whether Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will (1934) was propaganda, or a representational recording of an event. Riefenstahl was considered an intricate part of the Third Reich s propaganda machine[1] , yet she claimed that: If you see this film again today you ascertain that it doesn t contain a single reconstructed scene. Everything in it is true. And it contains no tendentious commentary at all. It is history. A pure historical film... it is film vérité. It reflects the truth that was then in 1934, history. But only if I can be free after completing this project and do not have to make any more films to order[6] This compromise lead to a lot of tension between Hitler and Riefenstahl, and Hitler s idea for the opening of the film was believed terrible by Riefenstahl, due to its lack of artistic merit I [Hitler] would therefore like to make the following suggestion: I will ask the most important generals and members of the party to come to a film studio I will be present too. Then we will line up, and the camera will move slowly down the line. This will make it possible to emphasise the contributions of each person with a few words. The Habsburg Empire was considered a Catholic Empire and the Ottoman was an Islam Empire. Charles V owned the Habsburg Empire. He inherited castile Aragon (Spain) and the Habsburg territories. He also became the ruler of Aztec and Inca Empires in the Americas. (Sivers, Desnoyer, Stow 2012 Pg. 537) After battling against France in 1519, Charles was the title of emperor. In 1299, Osman Bey was in charge of the Ottoman Empire when he established independent rule in Anatolia. The expansion of the Ottoman Empire began in 1453. The battle in which Charles encountered was just the start of his religions war. At first religion served to support political authority. While he won the title of emperor, he also was made overlord of all German principalities and supreme among the monarchs of western Christianity. Although this title did not mean much in terms of power and financial gain in either the German principalities or western Christianity as a whole, it made him the titular political head of western Christianity and thereby the direct counterpart of Sultan Suleyman in the struggle for dominance in the Christian Muslim world of Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa. The American Election Process Is Good For The Country The American Election Process Ever since the early beginning of America standing as its own individual free country, we annually elect a new leader to run our country for a 4 year term. Every new time to elect a new president, Americans are pressured to go out and vote for their leader that they want to run the country. Somewhere through the many years and elections, people have begun to outcry that the elections are not fair or biased and has raised the question if the way elections are run, is good for the country. The United States election process is good as it fairly elects a new president every four years, it provokes people into exercising their basic right to vote, and it helps always elect a new candidate over having a single leader for life. Throughout the history of America, a lot of things have happened for Americans to be able to elect their leader. The Revolutionary war was the pinnacle point as it was the war that separated America from the control of Great Britain and is what landed America as a country of its own and not to be controlled by any other country. But a downside to this war was that even though it let people elect their leaders, it only let a specific person to elect a leader, specifically white male land owners. • 45. The Church s Ministry On Teaching And Learning The church s ministry on teaching and learning is simultaneously a simple and complex ministry. It is a ministry that is potentially misunderstood more often than it is understood in the life of a congregation. As the congregation struggles to combine secular life with spiritual practice, the vision for the teaching and learning ministry of the church can fall out of focus for those who feel called to this ministry s vocations. To begin, I will define the teaching and learning ministry of the church as I understand it followed by an elaboration of its definition. Lastly, I will discuss a few implications of this ministry as it applies to a congregation. The church s ministry of teaching and learning is the collective discernment of the community, as loving people of God, which integrates and challenges the understanding of their presence as individuals in an ever deepening connection with God and their community of neighbors through various reflective methods and practices, which engage scripture, tradition, experience, and reason. This definition may appear simple if taken at its face value. However, upon further inspection its elements contain subtle meanings even multiple layers of meaning. Thus, further explanation of these elements is required and displayed herein. The main element of this definition is community. • 47. Walt Whitman Metaphor Katie Leutzinger December 11, 2017 ENG 228 On Wisdom and Knowledge Walt Whitman s poem When I Heard the Learn d Astronomer seeks to provide a brief exploration of the contrast between wisdom and knowledge. Whitman uses numerous poetic devices and syllable stresses to conclude his intended theme of the poem. Along with the structure, he implements purposeful character and setting development within the eight lines of the poem. Although short in length, this work leaves much to be discovered. Like in many of his other poems, Whitman uses free verse in this short literary work. His free verse style in this one stanza is written without a specific pattern of rhyme or meter. Innovation flows through the lines as Whitman is unpredictable with his rhythm. In the eight lines (one stanza) of this poem, he creates an anecdotal feel by having the lines vary in length and giving variety to the stressed and unstressed syllables. For example, the first two lines stress the long beat on the third syllable with the words heard (line 1) and proof (line 2), whereas the third line stresses the fourth syllable with shown (line 3). Then continues to the fourth line to stress the long beat on the second syllable using a comma: When I, (line 4). These first four lines act as a setup while the speaker recalls listening to the astronomer s lecture. Whitman demonstrates anaphora in the poem by having each line in this setup begin with the word When to illustrate to the reader that the speaker is evoking a prior experience. Whitman utilizes multiple contractions in this work, such as learn d , wander d , and look d (lines 1,6,8) to exploit the illiteracy of the speaker. The contraction look d is particularly confusing because it is already a one syllable word. The last four lines of the poem serve to describe the speaker s reaction to the poem and propose the lesson of the poem. Though this poem is quite short, Whitman uses several devices to construct a vivid description of the setting. At first, he describes the classroom in which the astronomer teaches to be crowded with equations and figures. The lecture hall is filled with people who are eager to learn about the stars or just theories about the stars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
