The Cornetto Is Wind Instrument Made Out Of Wood
The cornetto is wind instrument made out of wood that has been used throughout Europe for centuries,
from the 1400s to the 1600s. It s also called the cornett, which is not to be confused with brass
instrument called the cornet, an instrument similar to the trumpet. The cornetto is a hybrid instrument:
it is a combination between a woodwind and a brass instrument. It s made out of a long and slender
tube, curved to one side, that had open finger holes. The way the cornett produced sound was by
blowing into a mouthpiece that was shaped like a cup, similar to the trumpet s. The mastery of the
instrument gives the player a variety of pitches and tones that can be created. Despite how interesting
this instrument is, its popularity drastically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was still used in some parts of Europe until the early 1800s.
Most early instruments that date from the renaissance and baroque eras have legacies and their
characteristics are still found in modern instruments. The cornetto does not have any descendant, and
that makes it unique. No mainstream modern instrument combines the cup shaped mouthpiece with
the finger holes of a woodwind instrument. Therefore, studying the cornetto and developing the skills
necessary in order to master the instrument can be extremely difficult.
If ever an instrument belonged to the lower strata of society, the cornett did. They were the poor white
trash among musical instruments. Not only were they cheaply made, but they were noted for their
poverty of musical qualities. Constructed of wood and covered with leather their tone was colorless,
coarse and windy. Anyone with a pocketknife, a pot of glue and a thin skiver of leather could make
one of these instruments... The tone was dull and windy, but for some strange reason it became
extremely popular. In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries it became the most popular wind instrument
in Europe.
This passage comes from a book on musical instruments from the 1930s. Schwartz s shocking
description shows the impact that an instrument s popularity has over the general impression people
had about it. The cornetto was once the king of the instrument that was played by expert musicians
that were paid large amounts of

How the Tang-Song Era Is a Golden Age
The definition of a Golden Age is a time of economic, political, technological, and social
improvement and advance at a great level. The Tang and Song Dynasties are very important to the
history of Chinese civilization. The Tang Era is the most well known dynasty in Chinese history,
mainly because the empire was the largest, richest and most sophisticated state in the world at the
time. The Song Era had far reaching impacts economically, culturally, and socially. During the Song
Era, there was major development in urbanization. The Tang and Song Eras are commonly referred to
as being the basis of a Golden Age of Chinese civilization because they were two major time periods
in which stunning development in China took place.

Manufacturing was also a very important part of the Tang Dynasty. Manufacturing was done in both
state owned and privately owned workshops. Mostly located in larger cities, crafts such as brocade
weaving, papermaking, iron smelting, casting, pottery were done. The textile industry prospered. The
silk products from Songzhou and Bozhou were most famous for their high quality. Marked
improvements were introduced in the manufacture of pottery and porcelain. The porcelain from the
Xingzhou kiln was particularly noted for its quality and described as white as silver and snow .
The Song dynasty, also called the Sung dynasty, was the Chinese reign during the late 10th 13th
centuries that, like the Tang, had a far reaching impact economically, culturally, and socially. The
period is divided into two parts: the Northern Song and the Southern Song. Economically, commerce,
trade, and manufacturing grew exponentially. Culturally, Confucianism witnessed new life as it
undergirded the growth of the Chinese middle class, and socially, a revision of the Chinese civil
service examination widened government representation. The Song dynasty could easily be argued as
the renaissance of China.
China s population was growing rapidly, almost doubling between 750 and 1100. Because of this huge
population boom, paper money was established, and the trade industry grew. There were many
advances that were made, such as technological improvements

Essay on The Key to A Successful E-commerce Site
The Key to A Successful E commerce Site
Despite the rapid growth of E commerce sites, 43 percent of the them fails, and the difference between
the success and the failure is consumer experience, according to Ecommercetimes.com. The Dotcom
Survival Guide reported there is still one resource left untapped that can save dotcoms from failure. It
s the one resource that historically is most ignored in favor of ads, press, and flashy features yet it s
the one resource that can lead dotcoms to survival. That resource is customers. Customers can provide
the revenues needed to attain profitability. Customers can give the word of mouth marketing to drive

It s important to remember that the customer experience is a strategic issue, and not just an
accumulation of tactics. In fact, it s the most strategic issue an e business can work on. A dot com s
strategy should be directly based on the customer experience.
Improving the customer experience can lead directly to higher revenues. On an e commerce site,
building a great customer experience makes it quicker and easier for customers to buy, raising the
conversion rate. On high volume e commerce sites, raising the conversion rate by one tenth of 1% can
add as much as $10 million in incremental revenues per month. The customer experience is the key to
dot com survival. To survive, dot coms must improve their customer experience.
HOW TO CREATE A GOOD CONSUMER EXPERIENCE?
More and more users with minimal technical expertise are getting online, and they are demanding
simple, fast, easy to use e commerce sites. The Web makes switching (to a competitor) fast, cheap, and
as easy as typing in a new URL.
To better understand the value of a good customer experience, creativegood.com has provide the 3 M

Organizational Behavior ( Ob )
Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact within groups and can be used to
achieve a covenant relationship within organizations similar to the relationship that God has with His
people. Personalities have a significant role in OB and personality tests create value by allowing
organizations to determine ahead of time where potential conflict may arise between employees. The
Jung Typology Test classifies people into one of the sixteen personality types determined by Isabel
Briggs Myers and one of the four temperaments defined by David Keirsey. This discussion examines
the effect of my ISTJ personality type and SJ temperament on myself and those around me on a
personal and professional level. The analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, and sources of conflict
associated with each individual aspect of the ISTJ personality introverted, sensing, thinking, and
judging as well as assessing the personality type as a whole. Lastly, the discussion concludes with
lessons I have learned regarding the use of OB in workplace improvement efforts, as well as specific
areas where I can use OB to enhance my performance as an employee, co worker, and manager.

world war 2 holocaust essay
World War II Research Task: National History Challenge Theme Legend, Fact and History . I am
against the premise that our contemporary, current understanding of the Holocaust and the persecution
of the Jews is a combination of Legend, Fact and History. I m arguing that the only crucial, relevant
aspect of our view is fact! That includes undeniable evidence that is totally accepted by all. Some
historical records in our time are only causing controversy because many professional historians that
disagree with the premise of the Holocaust are presenting their point of view in public. They are more

who had managed to survive the Crime of the Century . As represented in my arguments, I believe that
it is safe to say that the only significant aspect relevant to the occurrence of the Holocaust is fact.
Moreover, it would be dangerous to allow contradiction to rise as history could repeat it self.

Essay on Enzymes
Enzymes Enzymes are catalysts. Most are proteins. (A few ribonucleoprotein enzymes have been
discovered and, for some of these, the catalytic activity is in the RNA part rather than the protein part.
Link to discussion of these ribozymes.)
Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so,
they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. Most of these
interactions are weak and especially so if the atoms involved are farther than about one angstrom from
each other. So successful binding of enzyme and substrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the structure of malonic acid allows it to bind to the same site on the enzyme (b). But
there is no oxidation so no speedy release of products. The inhibition is called competitive because if
you increase the ratio of succinic to malonic acid in the mixture, you will gradually restore the rate of
catalysis. At a 50:1 ratio, the two molecules compete on roughly equal terms for the binding
(=catalytic) site on the enzyme.
Factors Affecting Enzyme Action
[IMAGE]The activity of enzymes is strongly affected by changes in pH and temperature. Each
enzyme works best at a certain pH (left graph) and temperature (right graph), its activity decreasing at
values above and below that point. This is not surprising considering the importance of
* tertiary structure (i.e. shape) in enzyme function and
* noncovalent forces, e.g., ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds, in determining that shape.
Examples:
* the protease pepsin works best as a pH of 1 2 (found in the stomach) while
* the protease trypsin is inactive at such a low pH but very active at a pH of 8 (found in the small
intestine as the bicarbonate of the pancreatic fluid neutralizes the arriving stomach contents). [
Discussion]
Changes in pH alter the state of ionization of charged amino acids (e.g., Asp, Lys) that may

interpersonal skills, and conceptual skills. The ability to be an effective supervisor is dependent on one
s ability to utilize both the relational and interpersonal skills. The supervisor s role in the Phoenix
House is multidimensional and requires both managerial and leadership skills to be successful. The
senior social worker manages the work of four social employees and two interns from the university

Middle Ages as the Age of Faith Essay
Middle Ages as the Age of Faith
The Middle Ages is often referred to as the Age of Faith and it is correct to do so, as during this period
religion dominated all aspects of life from architecture, literature, art and music. The dominant
religion during this period was Christianity. The middle ages saw the emergence #8230; of Christian
literary forms #8230; a popular religious culture centred around processions, icons, and relics (George
Holmes 42). The crusades were wars fought in the name of God or holy wars. The first of the crusades
began in 1095 when Pope Urban the second received an appeal for help from Alexius the first, the
Byzantine Emperor. Alexius wanted Urbans help against the Turks, a race alienated from God . ...

However philosophical disputes soon arose, this was known as the battle of Universals. One position
was called the Realist position. This was the idea that body and soul were separate. The soul goes to
its ideal realisation, heaven, there is no need to worry about the material world. The opposing
argument was known as the Nominalalist position, that physical were the only reality (Robert E.
Lamm 212). The middle ground between these two arguments was known as Conceptualism, put forth
by Peter Abelard, it suggests that reality as idea exists only in the sense apparent object (Robert E.
Lamm 213). Monasticism was a way of life for those who thought everyday life too sinful, and
decided to devote themselves to God, either communally in the monastery or lavriote, a life of
solitude. St Benedict around five hundred and forty AD set down rules which were to become the
basis for monastic life in the Catholic church; poverty, obedience, chastity, and work. In these
monasteries theology was preserved. A different form of monasticism developed in Ireland due to the
fact it was isolated from the rest of Europe. Monks were more like the hermits of Egypt rather those of
Roman Christianity. Scholarship developed in these monasteries, also a new form of art called
Hiberno Saxon. These monasteries kept literacy skills alive. Monks would transcribe and decorate
sacred texts by hand. Such texts include the Book of Kells and the Lindisfaire

Character Analysis Of Victor Frankenstein
Within this novel, our main character is the scientist Victor Frankenstein. His curiosity and will to
make the dead, well become alive, is what drives him to want to succeed. His never ending curiosity
of the fundamentals of the human body has kept him pushing further, even losing sleep and his health
decline. He strives to feed that will, and when he does in fact succeed, he is astonished at to what he
has created, but appalled by its looks and inhuman demeanor.
Within the novel, in chapter 5, he is able to create and succeed at his lifelong dream. In doing so, he is
already regretting what he has done by the end. He create something that went against what man was
made for. He brought the dead and gave it a life. In his eyes, wasting time on creating a monstrosity
really got to Dr. Frankenstein, making him distressed, leading him to let it roam free while he rested.
He dreamed of creating something such as the monster, but didn t think far enough to what would
happen after his success. Leading, to his problematic plot throughout the rest of the book.
His need to create something that others haven t is evident in his journey throughout his life. He
wished to do something that would amaze others, leave him in the books. His drive for success took
over him, leading him to enclose and distance himself from society in order to complete what he

Forensic Evidence In The Article Jack The Ripper
The newspaper article, Jack the Ripper was a Polish immigrant Aaron Kosminski , published by the
Guardian on September 8th, 2014 suggests a self confessed armchair detective has solved the mystery
of Jack the Ripper utilizing a blood stained shall to obtain DNA evidence which led him to discover
the notorious killer. This article professes that the blood stained shawl Russell Edwards bought in
2007 at an auction in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk was the key to uncovering the identity of Jack the
Ripper; Edwards stated, I ve got the only piece of forensic evidence in the whole history of the case...I
ve spent 14 years working on it, and we have definitively solved the mystery of who Jack the Ripper
was. However, Edwards claim is arguably unreliable and although the conclusions are written in a
persuasive manner they lack guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. ... Show more content on

In addition, Jari Louhelainen, an expert in molecular biology is susceptible to potential inaccuracies
and there was no mention of subsequent trails. Also, the auction may have planted the evidence in an
effort to gain fame and recognition. Furthermore, Richard Cobb, who runs Jack the Ripper
conventions and tours, told the Times that the shawl had been openly handled by loads of people and
been touched, breathed on, spat upon. Therefore Cobb is acknowledging the risk of using
contaminated evidence as fact. However, Edwards does disclose that Aaron Kosminski was one of the
six main suspects for the Ripper identified by the police but lacked evidence to bring him to trial.
Therefore, I believe that this article utilizes a persuasive tone by encompassing forensic evidence and
historical references. However, this article lacks accountability and is somewhat fragmentary when
revealing evidence and therefore is not one hundred percent

How Substrate Concentration affects a Catalase Enzyme Reaction
RQ
How does changing the substrate concentration affect the rate of a catalase reaction in an enzyme?
Hydrogen peroxide was used as the substrate and the rate was measured by oxygen production.
Hypothesis
If the substrate concentration is increased then the rate of a catalase reaction will also increase until it
reaches the optimal concentration or saturation point and will remain constant. This is because there
will be more substrate molecules in a higher concentration therefore a higher frequency of collisions.
This increases enzyme activity and more product will be formed. However at a certain concentration
the enzymes will become saturated (all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Antibiotic Resistance By Bacteria, Viruses, Antibiotics,...
Background/Statement of Problem(s):One of the most critical challenges confronting the application
of chemotherapeutic agents in general, and antibiotics in particular, is the development of resistance
by target microbes such as bacteria, viruses etc. In most instances, antibiotic resistance, which is a
natural phenomenon, occurs when bacteria undergo or acquire mutation to alter the target sites of
drugs. As target microbes becomes less responsive to the inhibitory and killing effects of antibiotics,
the unfettered multiplication that results leads to therapeutic failure with consequent morbidity and or
mortality. This has been a serious and growing public health issue to which there has not been an
effective solution. The traditional answer to this problem has been to introduce new antibiotics that kill
the resistant mutants. Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry is now producing too few antibiotics,
particularly against Gram negative organisms, to replace antibiotics that are no longer effective for
many types of infection. This paper reviews possible new ways to discover novel antibiotics.
Supporting Data:Over the past century of antibiotic discovery and development, few parallel and
independent lines of discovery have been fruitful. The development of strategies to prevent the
evolution of resistance strains of microbes has been a top priority. In clinical practice, several
measures that have been tested to reduce the incidence of resistance development, including

Comparing Gilgamesh s Polpol Vuh And Other Myths
Polpol Vuh and other Myths After reading the book Polpol Vuh, I was able to instantly point out many
similarities and differences between two other myths that we have read throughout the class. The first
myth that came to mind was Genesis. Genesis and Polpol Vuh both talk of creation of animals, trees,
and mountains, as well as the creation of mankind, After doing research in the past, I knew that
Genesis and Gilgamesh had similarities which then put Gilgamesh in the category with Polpol Vuh
and Genesis. While reading these tales, I was also able to answer a series of questions based on my
opinions. In this essay, I will explain my beliefs about what the people in these three tales seem to
believe about how they came to be, what qualities they share, what is important to them, why their
creator(s) make them, their reason for being where they are and lastly, what a good person and bad
person would be like if these people wanted to be like their creator(s). I believe that the people in
Genesis believe that they are created from Gods image. In genesis, it states, And God created the

Realistic Job Preview and Employee Turnover
EMPLOYEE TURNOVER Employee turnover is sometimes the most expensive part of a business. It
is the process of an employee leaving and then having to fill that spot on the workforce. The problem
with turnover is that with each new person a corporation or small business hires, that small business or
corporation is spending sometimes thousands of dollars, not to mention countless hours, be able to
hire, train and get the employee used to working within the ranks of your business. This is time and
money no small business or other company has to waste, but unfortunately some turnover rates are as
high as 95 percent, meaning that only 5 percent of employees have been within the company for a

Tangible ways in which job satisfaction benefits the organization include reduction in complaints and
grievances, absenteeism, turnover, and termination; as well as improved punctuality and worker
morale. Job satisfaction is also linked to a more healthy work force and has been found to be a good
indicator of longevity. And although only little correlation has been found between job satisfaction and
productivity, Brown (1996) notes that some employers have found that satisfying or delighting
employees is a prerequisite to satisfying or delighting customers, thus protecting the bottom line. No
wonder Andrew Carnegie is quoted as saying: Take away my people, but leave my factories, and soon
grass will grow on the factory floors. Take away my factories, but leave my people, and soon we will
have a new and better factory (quoted in Brown, 1996, p. 123). CREATING JOB SATISFACTION
So, how is job satisfaction created? What are the elements of a job that create job satisfaction?
Organizations can help to create job satisfaction by putting systems in place that will ensure that
workers are challenged and then rewarded for being successful. Organizations that aspire to creating a
work environment that enhances job satisfaction need to incorporate the following: * Flexible work
arrangements, possibly including telecommuting * Training and other

Comparing Ilúvatar In The Silmarillion And Lord Of The Rings
In Tolkien s book The Silmarillion, the themes of Ilúvatar are reminiscent throughout the Lord of the

instrument that is off tune in an orchestra; at first the one instruments sound may stand out, but
overtime it would be overwhelmed and drowned out by the rest of the orchestra. Those who create
discord in Ilúvatar s themes are given opportunity to return to good before they become separated
from him (or become evil). In Tolkien s work, evil is given the upper hand and is more powerful than
the forces of good. This is evident in both Melkor s and Saruman s stories. Evil characters in the

company, this is not to say that due to the downfalls they cannot have a stronger rising. As the down
size to help increase their profits once again, it is seen to be helpful that they have such a great
business ethics as their backbone. Being able to rely on the knowledge of creating such a huge
corporation should help Sears Holdings to regrow even stronger after a downsize. The course of
actions Sears Holdings interprets from the triple bottom line is what is making it possible to regrow
not only financially but also sustainably. Sears Corporation, was founded in 1886 by Richard W.
Sears. The first sears store was the R.W. Sears Watch Company that ... Show more content on

The relationship between the four individual sections all seem to have some type of tie in with one
another. There is a strong tie between their ethics and law. The relationship between ethics and law
seem to be that they coincide with one another, they both rely on each other to be able to function.
Without the law the ethics wouldn t work and without ethics the laws placed within the company
wouldn t function properly. Sears Holdings were awarded the 2015 Better Business Bureau s Torch
Award for Ethics in the Marketplace for Chicago and Northern Illinois (Corporate Responsibility
Sustainability Report 2014. 2014). This is a prime example of how well their business ethics and law
work together this award takes a company being able to demonstrate high ethical standards and the
ability to provide documentation in stakeholder relations, and market practices just to name a

Analysis Of Orientation By Daniel Orozco
Whether or not a person has obtained a job, everyone has had a first day. In the short story Orientation
Daniel Orozco tells of the encounter of a new employee being given a tour of the business. This story
has a professional narration shining a light on the ruled based environment the employee is entering.
The tour does not only entail the ordinary findings in an office, but it comes with gritty details of the
other employee s personal lives. Orozco uses setting, characterization, and point of view to show how
an authoritarianism styled workplace can cause a lack of individuality that would make an employee
want to engage in the rumor mill. Daniel establishes the setting throughout the story as being in an
office. He gives that indication with his first sentence being, Those are the offices and these are the
cubicles. (1). As the story goes on he is telling the reader where things are located in the office by
saying, This is the fire exit. and also, This is our kitchenette. (2). Along with the location of things
comes rules attached, If you make an emergency phone call without asking, you may be let go. Feel
free to ask questions. Ask too many questions, however, and you may be let go. (1). Most notably the
mundane setting of the office changes when he takes the reader to the copier room. Orozco tells how
the southwest view overlooks the park, and you can see the bay and sunset. He quickly makes it
known that this view will only be enjoyed while photocopying. Putting strict limitations on a person
can inevitably cause them to seek validation and self expression in other avenues. Daniel Orozco s use
of characterization should not go unnoticed. He carefully builds each characters background and
personality in a way to capture the reader s attention. The person in charge of the tour is never
explicitly identified, and the main source of identification is in the line If you can t find them, feel free
to ask me. That s my cubicle. I sit in there. (4). As the orientation goes on, each employee is
referenced by their first and last name followed by a story of who they are and where you can find
them. He details their personal lives that some may see as secrets. The most grisly being

The Effects Of The Indian Removal Act
The Cherokees are nearly all prisoners. They have been dragged from their houses, and encamped at
the forts and military posts, all over the nation (Jones 1838). This is an excerpt from a letter Evan
Jones, a Baptist missionary to the Cherokees, wrote to the Baptist Missionary Magazine. Jones lived
with the Cherokees for forty seven years he even translated the Bible into Cherokee. Although when
President Jackson pushed the Indian Removal Act he claimed it would be beneficial for the indigenous
people Evan Jones painted a much different picture. The Indian Removal Act was signed into effect by
President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, starting a mass migration later referred to as the trail of
tears. The American government compromised their integrity with their self serving reasons for the
Indian Removal Act, coercing signatures on the Treaty of Echota, and the deplorable treatment of
Cherokees upon the Trail of Tears.
The faulty reasoning behind the Indian Removal Act began almost forty years prior to President
Jackson signature and ended with racism and a thirst for gold and land. The Indian Removal Act was
not the first policy in place claiming to remove the Native Americans for their own benefit. It was first
stated by Henry Knox on July 2, 1791, in the Treaty of Holston. Later when Thomas Jefferson became
president in 1801 he began using more aggressive tactics for negotiating with the Native Americans
such as threats, intimidation, and bribery. Jefferson s

Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Published in 1957, several years after it was written, Jack Kerouac s On the Road is lauded as one of
the most important literary works of the twentieth century. Praised for its role in the counterculture
Beat movement that helped shape society today, the novel embraces previously taboo themes like sex,
drugs, music, and dissatisfaction with the expectations of ordinary life in early 50 s America.
According to legend, after years of real life experience of hitchhiking his way back and forth across
the country with friends, most notably, Neal Cassady, Kerouac came home and wrote the novel in
three weeks, on mimeograph paper he taped together. The result was a typo littered scroll that few
people read and Kerouac immediately took to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the book has been edited from its original format, typos, excessively long sentences, and
misplaced punctuation still find their way in, and despite presenting a distraction at points, perhaps in
the bigger picture, they are an important part in preserving the novel as it was written.
With its unconventional structure, On the Road actually feels comparable to a road. Kerouac s prose
often paints vivid pictures, allowing the reader to immerse him or herself into the different scenery,
excellent for elements like the music or the difference between cities or even the characters he meets
along the way. According to Mary Beth Brophy in Re Remembering Gerard: Using Beat Author Jack
Kerouac s Letters to Lead Students to a Deeper Understanding of His Novels, Kerouac s style choices
are intentional, proclaimed as spontaneous prose, and inspired by a letter he received from Neal
Cassady in 1950. Brophy later asserts that while Cassady s letter lacks the poetic style (3) of Kerouac
s work, Kerouac was impressed with the flow of the writing, adapting that fluidity into his own
signature prose (3). There are places within the novel that this works, creating beautiful imagery of
both scenery and the human

Populism Debate
It came as no surprise that Trump won the south easily. In the deep south, one would assume that
Trumps demagogic styled populism would give Trump more support than Romney received four years
prior; and in Mississippi and Alabama this may be true, Trump saw only a small increase or decrease
in vote share in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Georgia. In the South, Mississippi and Alabama had
the highest increase in vote share for Trump. Interestingly, Louisiana, a state very similar to both only
saw less than half a percent increase. An explanation for this could be that, compared with AL and
MS, Louisiana s population is more urban. Furthermore, the suburban Republicans seem to be less
motivated by Trumps candidacy. You can even see this effect ... Show more content on

In Mississippi and Alabama however, Trumps populism strongly appealed to each states respective
more rural population. Echoing a populist message tinged with winks and nods on racism, Trump
seemed like an easier fit for the state of George Wallace, and Ross Barnett. South Carolina is unique
from Louisiana, in the way that SC has more of a business Republican presence. And while race still
effects politics in South Carolina, racial politics aren t as harsh as LA, MS, or AL. Although SC has
the longest root to the Confederacy, the state managed to elect an Indian governor, and an African
American Senator. This, if anything, shows a there s a stark contrast between SC, MS, and AL. In
Georgia, the urban metropolis, Atlanta, is the anchor for Georgia politics; and the main reason why
Georgia seems to be breaking away from the staunchly republican mold of the region. In the deep
south states, Georgia had the highest decrease of Republican vote share. As Atlanta builds a strong
African American middle class, and embraces it s growing progressive populace, Georgia continues to
get bluer. Like the turn Virginia or North Carolina, GA is seeing a similar path toward becoming a
swing

Sex Trafficking Of Women And Children
Whilst numerous reports suggest a decline in sex trafficking of women and children in Cambodia,
Cambodia still remains one of the largest destinations of sex tourism. Many methods have been
implemented on both a national and community level in order to combat this criminal activity across
the country; however none have been sufficient enough to entirely eradicate sex trafficking of persons
in Cambodia. Thus a number of recommendations to combat these human rights violations have been
listed, as follows:
Recommendation 1 Harsher law enforcement and prosecution
1.1 Government authorities should effectively implement stronger and more effective anti trafficking
legislation and policies that have been instituted in recent years. Cambodian government may need to
exercise a legitimate law enforcement response to the crime of child sex trafficking. In addition, there
is a need to pass harsher penalties to prosecute offenders including the parents of these children for the
act of trafficking innocent children.
1.2 The Cambodian government should play a large role in the actual implementation and
enforcement of the rule of law in prosecuting the traffickers.
1.3 The Cambodian government should also adopt legislative and other measures to protect
informants and witnesses of child sex trafficking from being harassed (e.g. by exploiters), protection
of their identities to enable, citizens to report such instances without fear of consequent reprisals
(Michelle, 2013, p.230).

Sacrifice In The Metamorphosis
For our interactive oral, our group discussed how issues from The Metamorphosis related to our own
culture and experience, and the extent to which social and cultural context aided in our understanding
of the novella.
I presented three aspects of the novella which I felt connected to current life: family difficulties,
dehumanization through work, and alienation. In the story, Gregor s relationship with his parents
proves to be conflicting. Gregor feels pressured to be successful in his grueling profession to support
his family. Although he sacrifices his livelihood to do so, his efforts are unappreciated and leave him
feeling worthless. As adolescents, pressure from parents to be successful is common. Many young
adults end up choosing careers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the reader that Gregor s wishes only to satisfy his own sense of responsibility before
comfortably moving on. Gregor s sinful nature is further emphasized with his transformation into an
unclean beast not suited for sacrifice . This use of diction allows the reader to understand, as
previously stated, that Gregor is not yet ready to become the savior of his family. Meanwhile, Kafka s
portrayal of Gregor reflects everything that is flawed with the Samsa family, who, ironically leach off
his work like vermin. This metamorphosis marks the beginning of Gregor s ultimate sacrifice, as well
as his role change as

Grace felt more welcomed this time around than she did in all seven years of her attendance at
Hogwarts. She felt at home now, and she was quite happy working alongside Professor Lupin. He was
a kind and gentle man who had a real knack for teaching. But once the students left his class he had a
look about him as if he were hiding something deep. Professor, are you well? Grace asked curiously.
Remus nodded Yes, just lost in my thoughts Miss Hewitt He smiled tenderly at her and they prepared
for their next class. She enjoyed taking part in his class and he was very bright. Lupin seemed like a
natural teacher and she hoped that he would be the permanent defense against the dark arts professor
even if it meant she wouldn t be. That s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thank you, Professor she smiled shyly, Remus had watched her with the students and they got along
incredibly well. They were so eager to learn and she more than willing to teach them. Grace was so
soft spoken and uncommonly kind that the students were drawn to her. Remus had never known
anyone like her, aside from Lily Evans of course. Some of the students, namely Slytherins, loved to
push her buttons to see if she d lose her temper. Is there anything you need for me to do Professor?
Grace asked eagerly, she liked to be involved and help out when she could. Remus looked at the work
that needed to be graded, knowing he d never get it done. Actually I m feeling rather ill, do you think
you could take care of these scrolls? Grace s face lit up and she nodded vigorously, of course! I ll take
them with me and get them done tonight she replied readily and packed them all away. On her way out
of the class room she waved at him and carried on towards her living quarters deep in the school s
dungeon. After she left Remus retired to his room to rest for a while and wait for Severus to bring him
his wolfsbane potion. Grace set down the students scrolls and got right to work. She should go to the
post office to pick up her package from St. Mungos. Deciding that she had all weekend to experiment
she buckled down and got right to work. Where did I put those notes on grading? she muttered as she

Reflection On Camp Reflection
Camp Reflection This is not my fault Trey screamed as we quickly pulled up alongside one of my
friends canoe. I then jumped into their canoe and flipped them over. Camp is so fun I yelled. This year
at camp we focused a lot on who am I, who are we, and who is he. I grew a lot in my faith this year at
camp. I have a couple younger siblings and they always tell me how they cannot wait for camp. So if
you were to cancel camp they would be very disappointed, Camp was awesome. I am unique in god s
eyes and this is what i m like. I think I am great at managing my time well, also I start a project
quickly. Some surveys that we took said that I am naturalistic (likes nature) and intrapersonal (has a
ton of hobbies and likes to work by himself) I think this fits me well because I like working by myself
in a group because then I don t do all of it plus I have to trust myself to get something done instead of
another person. Another survey we took said I was a auditory learner. I do not think this is true
because I believe that I learn way better when someone is standing next to me explaining how to do
something and letting me try. Also it said that I am a morning person. This is so true because after I
wake up for about 5 minutes I have a lot of energy plus at camp when Mr. Lowe came into our cabin
at night he said that there was polar bearing at 7:15 the next morning and I thought I was definitely
going to do it and I did. So that is why I think I am a morning person. One thing at camp that I noticed
is that I like to be cheered for, because when we did the belly flop contest I stood there on top of the
diving board looking down at the water about to do a double front flip and land with a bellflop. It was
kind of nerve racking knowing you were going to hit the water from a 5 foot fast drop but when
everyone cheered I jumped and it was awesome. Were all different people but when we come together
were a giant family with a ton of different characteristics and emotions. At camp we had a couple of
campfires. At the first campfire a we all shares some struggles we have had in life so far. Then at the
second campfire we all told about how we grew in our faith since then. I really like our cabins because
at night we

The Song Analysis OfHey, Jude, By Paul Mccartney
Hey, Jude was written by The Beatles band member, Paul McCartney in 1970. McCartney originally
titled the song as Hey, Jules as an ode to John Lennon s son Jules, who was in the forefront of his
parents divorce. McCartney ultimately decided to change the title to Hey, Jude after hearing the name
in a movie and liking the sound of the name. The voice of Hey, Jude is encouraging and urges Jude to
not give up during hard times. Paul McCartney acts as the persona, taking an influential role in Jude s
life. Hey, Jude contains poetic elements that add to the overall effect of the song, including rhyme,
symbolism, and multiple sound techniques. Paul McCartney added rhyme to Hey, Jude while coming
up with the lyrics on his way to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multiple sound techniques are used in Hey, Jude to aide the song to take a poetic feel.
McCartney, the lead singer, physically sings the song in a happy, almost encouraging manner. John,
George, and Ringo, the other band members, add backup vocals to aide McCartney in bringing forth
an encouraging tone. The tempo of the music is 3 beats per measure, which is moderately fast. Given
that the fast tempo helps give the song an upbeat and encouraging tone, it contributes to the effect of
the song. The stanzas of Hey, Jude are relatively similar in length, each having a similar rhyme
scheme. The words of the song follow a pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, which is referred
to as rhythm. The rhythm greatly affects how the listener interprets that meaning. Repetition of
phrases like, Hey, Jude, and, Then you can start to make it better, are used to emphasize the phrases
importance in the song. The repetition allows listeners to remember the line and, because of this, is
considered a way McCartney manipulated sound. McCartney used tricks within the music, like rhythm
and repetition, to create a poetic feeling. The feeling the music brings forth adds to the overall effect
of the song. All things considered, the comprehensive meaning of the song Hey, Jude has changed for
me as I carefully listened for the McCartney s use of poetry. Paul

  • 2. The Cornetto Is Wind Instrument Made Out Of Wood The cornetto is wind instrument made out of wood that has been used throughout Europe for centuries, from the 1400s to the 1600s. It s also called the cornett, which is not to be confused with brass instrument called the cornet, an instrument similar to the trumpet. The cornetto is a hybrid instrument: it is a combination between a woodwind and a brass instrument. It s made out of a long and slender tube, curved to one side, that had open finger holes. The way the cornett produced sound was by blowing into a mouthpiece that was shaped like a cup, similar to the trumpet s. The mastery of the instrument gives the player a variety of pitches and tones that can be created. Despite how interesting this instrument is, its popularity drastically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was still used in some parts of Europe until the early 1800s. Most early instruments that date from the renaissance and baroque eras have legacies and their characteristics are still found in modern instruments. The cornetto does not have any descendant, and that makes it unique. No mainstream modern instrument combines the cup shaped mouthpiece with the finger holes of a woodwind instrument. Therefore, studying the cornetto and developing the skills necessary in order to master the instrument can be extremely difficult. If ever an instrument belonged to the lower strata of society, the cornett did. They were the poor white trash among musical instruments. Not only were they cheaply made, but they were noted for their poverty of musical qualities. Constructed of wood and covered with leather their tone was colorless, coarse and windy. Anyone with a pocketknife, a pot of glue and a thin skiver of leather could make one of these instruments... The tone was dull and windy, but for some strange reason it became extremely popular. In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries it became the most popular wind instrument in Europe. This passage comes from a book on musical instruments from the 1930s. Schwartz s shocking description shows the impact that an instrument s popularity has over the general impression people had about it. The cornetto was once the king of the instrument that was played by expert musicians that were paid large amounts of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The porcelain from the Xingzhou kiln was particularly noted for its quality and described as white as silver and snow . The Song dynasty, also called the Sung dynasty, was the Chinese reign during the late 10th 13th centuries that, like the Tang, had a far reaching impact economically, culturally, and socially. The period is divided into two parts: the Northern Song and the Southern Song. Economically, commerce, trade, and manufacturing grew exponentially. Culturally, Confucianism witnessed new life as it undergirded the growth of the Chinese middle class, and socially, a revision of the Chinese civil service examination widened government representation. The Song dynasty could easily be argued as the renaissance of China. China s population was growing rapidly, almost doubling between 750 and 1100. Because of this huge population boom, paper money was established, and the trade industry grew. There were many advances that were made, such as technological improvements ... • 6. Organizational Behavior ( Ob ) Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact within groups and can be used to achieve a covenant relationship within organizations similar to the relationship that God has with His people. Personalities have a significant role in OB and personality tests create value by allowing organizations to determine ahead of time where potential conflict may arise between employees. The Jung Typology Test classifies people into one of the sixteen personality types determined by Isabel Briggs Myers and one of the four temperaments defined by David Keirsey. This discussion examines the effect of my ISTJ personality type and SJ temperament on myself and those around me on a personal and professional level. The analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, and sources of conflict associated with each individual aspect of the ISTJ personality introverted, sensing, thinking, and judging as well as assessing the personality type as a whole. Lastly, the discussion concludes with lessons I have learned regarding the use of OB in workplace improvement efforts, as well as specific areas where I can use OB to enhance my performance as an employee, co worker, and manager. (A few ribonucleoprotein enzymes have been discovered and, for some of these, the catalytic activity is in the RNA part rather than the protein part. Link to discussion of these ribozymes.) Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so, they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. Most of these interactions are weak and especially so if the atoms involved are farther than about one angstrom from each other. So successful binding of enzyme and substrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the structure of malonic acid allows it to bind to the same site on the enzyme (b). But there is no oxidation so no speedy release of products. The inhibition is called competitive because if you increase the ratio of succinic to malonic acid in the mixture, you will gradually restore the rate of catalysis. At a 50:1 ratio, the two molecules compete on roughly equal terms for the binding (=catalytic) site on the enzyme. Factors Affecting Enzyme Action [IMAGE]The activity of enzymes is strongly affected by changes in pH and temperature. Each enzyme works best at a certain pH (left graph) and temperature (right graph), its activity decreasing at values above and below that point. This is not surprising considering the importance of * tertiary structure (i.e. shape) in enzyme function and * noncovalent forces, e.g., ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds, in determining that shape. Examples: * the protease pepsin works best as a pH of 1 2 (found in the stomach) while * the protease trypsin is inactive at such a low pH but very active at a pH of 8 (found in the small intestine as the bicarbonate of the pancreatic fluid neutralizes the arriving stomach contents). The dominant religion during this period was Christianity. The middle ages saw the emergence #8230; of Christian literary forms #8230; a popular religious culture centred around processions, icons, and relics (George Holmes 42). The crusades were wars fought in the name of God or holy wars. However philosophical disputes soon arose, this was known as the battle of Universals. One position was called the Realist position. This was the idea that body and soul were separate. The soul goes to its ideal realisation, heaven, there is no need to worry about the material world. The opposing argument was known as the Nominalalist position, that physical were the only reality (Robert E. Lamm 212). The middle ground between these two arguments was known as Conceptualism, put forth by Peter Abelard, it suggests that reality as idea exists only in the sense apparent object (Robert E. Lamm 213). Monasticism was a way of life for those who thought everyday life too sinful, and decided to devote themselves to God, either communally in the monastery or lavriote, a life of solitude. St Benedict around five hundred and forty AD set down rules which were to become the basis for monastic life in the Catholic church; poverty, obedience, chastity, and work. In these monasteries theology was preserved. A different form of monasticism developed in Ireland due to the fact it was isolated from the rest of Europe. Monks were more like the hermits of Egypt rather those of Roman Christianity. Scholarship developed in these monasteries, also a new form of art called Hiberno Saxon. These monasteries kept literacy skills alive. Monks would transcribe and decorate sacred texts by hand. Such texts include the Book of Kells and the Lindisfaire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This article professes that the blood stained shawl Russell Edwards bought in 2007 at an auction in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk was the key to uncovering the identity of Jack the Ripper; Edwards stated, I ve got the only piece of forensic evidence in the whole history of the case...I ve spent 14 years working on it, and we have definitively solved the mystery of who Jack the Ripper was. Biology HL 20/9/2013 How Substrate Concentration affects a Catalase Enzyme Reaction RQ How does changing the substrate concentration affect the rate of a catalase reaction in an enzyme? Hydrogen peroxide was used as the substrate and the rate was measured by oxygen production. Hypothesis If the substrate concentration is increased then the rate of a catalase reaction will also increase until it reaches the optimal concentration or saturation point and will remain constant. Background/Statement of Problem(s):One of the most critical challenges confronting the application of chemotherapeutic agents in general, and antibiotics in particular, is the development of resistance by target microbes such as bacteria, viruses etc. In most instances, antibiotic resistance, which is a natural phenomenon, occurs when bacteria undergo or acquire mutation to alter the target sites of drugs. As target microbes becomes less responsive to the inhibitory and killing effects of antibiotics, the unfettered multiplication that results leads to therapeutic failure with consequent morbidity and or mortality. This has been a serious and growing public health issue to which there has not been an effective solution. The traditional answer to this problem has been to introduce new antibiotics that kill the resistant mutants. Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry is now producing too few antibiotics, particularly against Gram negative organisms, to replace antibiotics that are no longer effective for many types of infection. This paper reviews possible new ways to discover novel antibiotics. Supporting Data:Over the past century of antibiotic discovery and development, few parallel and independent lines of discovery have been fruitful. The development of strategies to prevent the evolution of resistance strains of microbes has been a top priority. In clinical practice, several measures that have been tested to reduce the incidence of resistance development, including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Gilgamesh s Polpol Vuh And Other Myths Polpol Vuh and other Myths After reading the book Polpol Vuh, I was able to instantly point out many similarities and differences between two other myths that we have read throughout the class. The first myth that came to mind was Genesis. Genesis and Polpol Vuh both talk of creation of animals, trees, and mountains, as well as the creation of mankind, After doing research in the past, I knew that Genesis and Gilgamesh had similarities which then put Gilgamesh in the category with Polpol Vuh and Genesis. While reading these tales, I was also able to answer a series of questions based on my opinions. In this essay, I will explain my beliefs about what the people in these three tales seem to believe about how they came to be, what qualities they share, what is important to them, why their creator(s) make them, their reason for being where they are and lastly, what a good person and bad person would be like if these people wanted to be like their creator(s). It is the process of an employee leaving and then having to fill that spot on the workforce. • 23. Analysis Of Orientation By Daniel Orozco Whether or not a person has obtained a job, everyone has had a first day. In the short story Orientation Daniel Orozco tells of the encounter of a new employee being given a tour of the business. This story has a professional narration shining a light on the ruled based environment the employee is entering. The tour does not only entail the ordinary findings in an office, but it comes with gritty details of the other employee s personal lives. Orozco uses setting, characterization, and point of view to show how an authoritarianism styled workplace can cause a lack of individuality that would make an employee want to engage in the rumor mill. Daniel establishes the setting throughout the story as being in an office. He gives that indication with his first sentence being, Those are the offices and these are the cubicles. (1). As the story goes on he is telling the reader where things are located in the office by saying, This is the fire exit. and also, This is our kitchenette. (2). Along with the location of things comes rules attached, If you make an emergency phone call without asking, you may be let go. Feel free to ask questions. Ask too many questions, however, and you may be let go. (1). Most notably the mundane setting of the office changes when he takes the reader to the copier room. Orozco tells how the southwest view overlooks the park, and you can see the bay and sunset. He quickly makes it known that this view will only be enjoyed while photocopying. Putting strict limitations on a person can inevitably cause them to seek validation and self expression in other avenues. Daniel Orozco s use of characterization should not go unnoticed. He carefully builds each characters background and personality in a way to capture the reader s attention. The person in charge of the tour is never explicitly identified, and the main source of identification is in the line If you can t find them, feel free to ask me. That s my cubicle. I sit in there. • 24. The Effects Of The Indian Removal Act The Cherokees are nearly all prisoners. They have been dragged from their houses, and encamped at the forts and military posts, all over the nation (Jones 1838). This is an excerpt from a letter Evan Jones, a Baptist missionary to the Cherokees, wrote to the Baptist Missionary Magazine. Jones lived with the Cherokees for forty seven years he even translated the Bible into Cherokee. Although when President Jackson pushed the Indian Removal Act he claimed it would be beneficial for the indigenous people Evan Jones painted a much different picture. The Indian Removal Act was signed into effect by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, starting a mass migration later referred to as the trail of tears. The American government compromised their integrity with their self serving reasons for the Indian Removal Act, coercing signatures on the Treaty of Echota, and the deplorable treatment of Cherokees upon the Trail of Tears. The faulty reasoning behind the Indian Removal Act began almost forty years prior to President Jackson signature and ended with racism and a thirst for gold and land. The Indian Removal Act was not the first policy in place claiming to remove the Native Americans for their own benefit. It was first stated by Henry Knox on July 2, 1791, in the Treaty of Holston. Later when Thomas Jefferson became president in 1801 he began using more aggressive tactics for negotiating with the Native Americans such as threats, intimidation, and bribery. Jefferson s ... Praised for its role in the counterculture Beat movement that helped shape society today, the novel embraces previously taboo themes like sex, drugs, music, and dissatisfaction with the expectations of ordinary life in early 50 s America. According to legend, after years of real life experience of hitchhiking his way back and forth across the country with friends, most notably, Neal Cassady, Kerouac came home and wrote the novel in three weeks, on mimeograph paper he taped together. Kerouac s prose often paints vivid pictures, allowing the reader to immerse him or herself into the different scenery, excellent for elements like the music or the difference between cities or even the characters he meets along the way. According to Mary Beth Brophy in Re Remembering Gerard: Using Beat Author Jack Kerouac s Letters to Lead Students to a Deeper Understanding of His Novels, Kerouac s style choices are intentional, proclaimed as spontaneous prose, and inspired by a letter he received from Neal Cassady in 1950. Brophy later asserts that while Cassady s letter lacks the poetic style (3) of Kerouac s work, Kerouac was impressed with the flow of the writing, adapting that fluidity into his own signature prose (3). In the South, Mississippi and Alabama had the highest increase in vote share for Trump. Interestingly, Louisiana, a state very similar to both only saw less than half a percent increase. Many methods have been implemented on both a national and community level in order to combat this criminal activity across the country; however none have been sufficient enough to entirely eradicate sex trafficking of persons in Cambodia. Thus a number of recommendations to combat these human rights violations have been listed, as follows: Recommendation 1 Harsher law enforcement and prosecution 1.1 Government authorities should effectively implement stronger and more effective anti trafficking legislation and policies that have been instituted in recent years. Cambodian government may need to exercise a legitimate law enforcement response to the crime of child sex trafficking. In addition, there is a need to pass harsher penalties to prosecute offenders including the parents of these children for the act of trafficking innocent children. 1.2 The Cambodian government should play a large role in the actual implementation and enforcement of the rule of law in prosecuting the traffickers. 1.3 The Cambodian government should also adopt legislative and other measures to protect informants and witnesses of child sex trafficking from being harassed (e.g. by exploiters), protection of their identities to enable, citizens to report such instances without fear of consequent reprisals (Michelle, 2013, p.230). ... I then jumped into their canoe and flipped them over. Camp is so fun I yelled. This year at camp we focused a lot on who am I, who are we, and who is he. I grew a lot in my faith this year at camp. I have a couple younger siblings and they always tell me how they cannot wait for camp. So if you were to cancel camp they would be very disappointed, Camp was awesome. I am unique in god s eyes and this is what i m like. I think I am great at managing my time well, also I start a project quickly. Some surveys that we took said that I am naturalistic (likes nature) and intrapersonal (has a ton of hobbies and likes to work by himself) I think this fits me well because I like working by myself in a group because then I don t do all of it plus I have to trust myself to get something done instead of another person. Another survey we took said I was a auditory learner. I do not think this is true because I believe that I learn way better when someone is standing next to me explaining how to do something and letting me try. Also it said that I am a morning person. This is so true because after I wake up for about 5 minutes I have a lot of energy plus at camp when Mr. Lowe came into our cabin at night he said that there was polar bearing at 7:15 the next morning and I thought I was definitely going to do it and I did. So that is why I think I am a morning person. One thing at camp that I noticed is that I like to be cheered for, because when we did the belly flop contest I stood there on top of the diving board looking down at the water about to do a double front flip and land with a bellflop. It was kind of nerve racking knowing you were going to hit the water from a 5 foot fast drop but when everyone cheered I jumped and it was awesome. Multiple sound techniques are used in Hey, Jude to aide the song to take a poetic feel. McCartney, the lead singer, physically sings the song in a happy, almost encouraging manner. John, George, and Ringo, the other band members, add backup vocals to aide McCartney in bringing forth an encouraging tone. The tempo of the music is 3 beats per measure, which is moderately fast. Given that the fast tempo helps give the song an upbeat and encouraging tone, it contributes to the effect of the song. The stanzas of Hey, Jude are relatively similar in length, each having a similar rhyme scheme. The words of the song follow a pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, which is referred to as rhythm. The rhythm greatly affects how the listener interprets that meaning. Repetition of phrases like, Hey, Jude, and, Then you can start to make it better, are used to emphasize the phrases importance in the song. The repetition allows listeners to remember the line and, because of this, is considered a way McCartney manipulated sound. McCartney used tricks within the music, like rhythm and repetition, to create a poetic feeling. The feeling the music brings forth adds to the overall effect of the song.
