Research Paper On Women Longboarding
Women Longboard MadnessIt wasn t long after extreme sports became a trend, women got in on the
game. Longboarding is one such trend where a lot of women participate in. Some of these women
make something more of the activity, and turn it into an adventure, like these women. You have to
admit, there s nothing more sexy or endearing than a women bombarding the neighborhood hill on her
longboard, sparking and smoking like Native American Chieftain upon greeting a guest. It s the way
their faces go pious and their hair scatters and gathers like mercury. Everybody gets into one extreme
sport or another when they re a kid, whether it be a bike, skateboard, or just jumping on the furniture

Persuasive Speech Outline On Mental Illness
Kaylee Gorbet Persuasive Speech Preparation Outline Destigmatizing Mental Illness Specific
Purpose: Persuade my audience to take steps to realize the truth behind mental illnesses instead of
listening to the stigmas. Central Idea: I am going to be talking about the stigmas associated with
mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. Introduction I. There is an illness that is
different from any other illness or disease that we know of. This illness has few, if any, outward
physical symptoms. Most of the time, we cannot tell that a person has this illness just by looking at
them. The illness I am talking about is mental illness; I am able to say that I have been affected by my
father s mental illnesses. II. Today, I am going to be talking to you about the stigmas associated with
mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. III. Depression, generalized anxiety
disorder, eating disorders, etc are more common than one might realize, but they often go unnoticed
because of these stigmas. First, I will define mental illness and give you some statistics about mental
illness. Second, I will define stigma and tell you about the ways mentally ill people have been
stigmatized both in the past and today and why. Finally, I will tell you about some laws that attempt to
decrease stigma in the work place and offer suggestions as to how to further decrease stigma.
Transition: In order to understand what mental illness is, it is helpful to have an operational definition
of the term. Body I. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that mental illnesses can
affect persons of any age, race, religion or income and defines mental illness as a medical condition
that disrupts a person s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning... that
often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. a. Using this
definition, we can conclude that mental illness is non discriminatory and is a legitimate condition that
affects a person s ability to function in their day to day life. b. The statistics on mental illness are
surprising. NAMI s website gives the following statistics on reported mental illness. Bipolar disorder
or manic

Huckleberry Finn Dehumanization
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, author Mark Twin explores the dehumanization of African
American slaves in American history. The novel follows Huckleberry Finn and his unlikely
companion, Jim, a runaway slave, as they travel up the Mississippi River in search of a different life.
While the novel focuses on racism in American society at the height of slavery, it is as controversial in
today s society as it was in Mark Twain s time. When Twain wrote Huckleberry Finn in 1884, slavery
had been abolished but racism was still evident in the mistreatment of African American people. Huck
and Jim s story forces readers to recognize the racism that was and is in existence in America. Many
schools require students to read The Adventures of Huckleberry ... Show more content on

Huck is greatly influenced by the culture he grew up in. But when he gets the chance to turn in Jim,
who has become a good friend of his, he doesn t. After he writes a letter confessing his adventures
with Jim, he rethinks sending it, and tears it up stating, All right, then, I ll GO to hell (192). When
Huck says this, he is choosing his friend over society. This expresses a sense of rebellion against
society that most teenagers go through. Teenagers today rebel against what society says is right, by
using their own thoughts and coming up with a different conclusion. Young adults are often greatly
influenced by their friends and they will do almost anything for a friend. This is what Huck is doing,
and once readers realize this, they can relate to how he is feeling. It puts his situation into perspective
for someone in today s world. Walking in Huck s shoes, helps students gain a better understanding of
Huck s choices. Students can also relate to Huckleberry in his immature actions. In the following
quote, Huck is pretending to be a girl and has already given the name Sarah Williams. But he forgets
and the woman questioning him says Honey, I thought you said it was Sarah when you first come in?
to which Huck replies with a quick lie. Oh, yes m, I did. Sarah Mary Williams. Sarah s my first name.
Some calls me Sarah, some calls me Mary (52). After being caught in a lie, Huck proceeds to tell
another one. Of course teenagers nowadays still try to use this lying strategy. But like Huck, they are
often caught in the lie and end up having to tell the truth. It seems to be a second nature for most
teenagers to lie when they feel like they are at fault. And for someone like Huck, who is usually at
fault, getting one s way through deceit appears to be the easiest plan. This trait of Huck s is something
students can personally relate to and laugh

Troy University Case Study
Troy University has grown and it needs to be able to sustain that growth. In order to do that it needs to
resolve the issues it encounters along the way, one prominent complaint among the student body and
professors is the need for improvements with the parking availability at the university. I believe the
university will fail the students and faculty by not providing anything and focusing on other areas
instead. The university is focused more on improving the revenue flow than the experience of students
and faculty that provide its revenue.
As the school has grown into what it is today there has not been enough of a focus on providing
parking. It has reached the point where the sides of roads can be lined with vehicles that have been ...

The sheer volume of students the university has exceeds the number it can provide housing for, thus
making housing a priority over parking. With a limited budget the issue could take longer to resolve
fully, another issue could be the space required for a lot or garage. Troy University also has a bus
system that helps off campus students with transportation but the times they arrive can vary greatly.
The university is exceeding what it can be expected to support and with that all aspects of student life
can be at risk. Even campus involvement suffering because so many are forced off campus for
housing. If the school were to resolve both issues it could see a happier populace.
The university has options to fix the issue, but will likely neglect the issue as it does not directly
contribute to the university financially instead they will prioritize new dorms and a new recreation
facility. One option that the university could implement is a freshman driving ban, this would likely
add strain on the bus system and demand a rework of it, but the buses are not used by a majority of
students and a rework of it could see demand rise which would be beneficial and maybe even justify
an expansion of it. The university could see backlash in response to such a policy, but campus
involvement would likely improve. This solution would also see the space that the university needs to
expand be available for other projects and not used by massive lots or garages,

Analyzing A Piece Of Writing By Jessica Statsky
1.In the piece of writing by Jessica Statsky, she writes about children s sports and how they should not
be competitive. In making this claim she uses certain evidence to make her point valid. In one of her
pieces of evidence she uses states that, That a twelve year old trying to throw a curve ball, for
example, may put abnormal strain on developing arm and shoulder muscles, sometimes resulting in
lifelong injuries: (Statsky, 350). From this evidence Statsky is trying to make the claim that sports are
hurting children and could put a risk on their bodies and the development of their bodies, if they put
too much strain on themselves. Another piece of information Stasky uses says, The kids get so scared.
They get hit once and they don t wont anything to do with football anymore. They ll sit on the bench
and pretend their leg hurts (Stasky, 350). In the evidence that Stasky uses is good, but it is not very
ordinary situations that occur. She also does not provide any personal experience to go along with her
writing. Which in the end, would make the paper sound better and let the audience know that she has
her own experiences with playing sports at a young age. 2.In Christine Romano s assessment on
Stasky s work start off fairly well. She gives her credit where credit is deserved. Not to long after that
is when she starts to critize Stasky and her weaknesses. One of the points that Romano makes says,
Stasky s argument is also incomplete in that it fails to

Should Napoleon Be Considered A Hero Essay
Should Napoleon Bonaparte Be Considered A Hero or tarrant?
A hero is defined as a man who starts from the bottom and climbs the top to achieve greatness based
on his talent. Should Napoleon be considered as a hero? Mostly people would argue that Napoleon is a
hero as his brave nature made France one of the superior countries in the world. I believe Napoleon
was a hero, as his many accomplishments improved the French society and ultimately enlightened the
world. Not only he did better for France through his policy but he also expanded the boundaries of
France with many battles through his strategically planned military. He gave citizens of France the
pride they needed.
Being a military genius, Napoleon won many battles to expand his French territory. His strategic
military plans throughout many wars made him a hero all over the Europe. Although his army was less
than half by Austrians Napoleon s brilliant strategies resulted in a defeat of his enemy armies in the
Battle of Austerlitz. In many other battles that Napoleon won he always used his military ... Show

The Napoleonic Code was a sudden change in the nation as well as the citizens. Each state was
granted with a constitution, for male equality and a parliament including a bill of rights. This code
gave French citizen freedom from arrest without due process, and equality of taxation of all three
estates. Napoleon was so strategic in improving the economy of the France that he established an
award, which he would, gave it to the citizens for their loyalty and service. This was called the Legion

Analysis Of Hassan V. City Of New York
In this particular case, Hassan v. City of New York, a variety of issues have been raised that intersect
with the idea of government surveillance on these Muslim Communities. This case does not utilize a
federal or state RFRA, but rather focuses strictly on determining the legal validity of the government
surveillance program of Muslim Americans. The Plaintiffs have argued that the NYPD s government
surveillance program has violated the equal protection, establishment, and free exercise freedoms of
the constitution. To understand these issues, it is important to examine each of these issues one by one.
First, there is the issue of equal protection. The issue the plaintiffs raise here is whether the
government can legally single out and discriminate against these Muslim Americans based purely on
religion. Currently, religion is not seen as a suspect classification unlike race, because it can be
changed, yet for most people, identifying with or practicing a religion is an immutable part of their
identity as a person. The plaintiffs argue that choosing to surveying the Muslim Community in
particular should be viewed as unconstitutional discrimination, while the NYPD argues that
surveillance on the Muslim community based on their religious affiliation and classification is well
within their constitutional rights, since religion doesn t fall into the same suspect classification
categories of race and gender. The opinion in Third Circuit Court of Appeals complicates this issue

Persuasive Essay About Martial Arts
Earlier in my book, i gave a list of reasons why martial arts fail to prepare people for self defense. I
will elaborate on the topic in this chapter. Bruce Lee said it and now i m going to repeat it styles limit
minds! Think about it. You pay for a class in Wing Chun, Wushu, Krav Maga, Judo, or any style and
what do you learn? Forms, drills, techniques, moves, and rules. You spend countless hours practicing
forms, never knowing what they are for. You spend almost no time applying them completely in
combat. You are enslaved by the art. You get a slap on the wrist if you try to do anything outside of
what the style entails. Too fat and don t have enough muscle? You ll get told to hit the gym. Too
muscular? That s bad for your techniques as big muscles slow you down. What if you have the
potential to be one of the fastest or greatest strikers in the world? What if you have the potential to put
your brute strength excellent use in addition to performing the art? What if you could still fight at
lightning speed despite your large size? What if you have the potential to do something extraordinary
that s never been done before? How do you figure out a way to accomplish all of that? Certainly not in
your local martial arts school!
The only way to find out is to research what each style has to offer, take what you find useful from
each one, modify it, and discard the rest. In doing so, you create balance. You practice during training
to make your ideas work. You could try

The Japanese American Citizens League
The Japanese American Citizens League, also known by the acronym JACL, is a Nisei organization
founded in 1929 with the initial goal of lobbying for Japanese American Civil Rights while promoting
the integration of citizens into American culture. Since its inception the JACL has expanded its
mandate to focus on lobbying for the Civil Rights of all Asian American citizens and protecting
Japanese American cultural heritage. The JACL is considered one of the oldest and one of the most
influential national organizations promoting social justice and equality throughout the country. The
actions of the JACL have frequently been shaped by and frame in response to varying historical events
as well as both public prejudice and political attitudes. As a result, the organization has, at times, been
both critiqued by the Asian American community for its support of racist government policies and
praised for its opposition of legislative discrimination. In particular the organization has been
criticized for its complacency during World War Two (1939 1945) with the federal government s
discriminatory internment of Japanese American citizens. The origins of the JACL reside in the large
number of Asian immigrants into the United States at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the
twentieth century who typically took up residence in the regions along the American west coast.
Despite being earnest labourers, entrepreneurs, and American citizens those of Asian ancestry where

Stereotyping Is Bad
Is stereotyping really bad? Well, it isn t bad because it helps people understand who does what
because of this, right? However, that s not necessarily true. In this world, stereotyping has been a part
of how we live. To some people, stereotyping has been a serious issue; to others, not so much.
Stereotype is a term defined as: An oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people
without regard for individual difference.
An author named Shankar Vedanttam talks about this issue in his article How a Self Fulfilling
Stereotype Can Drag Down Performance. He states, The performance of African Americans who
interacted with black interviewers has answered 6.33 questions correctly the same as white ones. The
reason African Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would always make me feel so dumb when I didn t get everything on my math test correct. When I
was young, people would always label everyone by their race and gender. Whites are better than
blacks. Asians need to get everything correct in math because they are the smartest. All Mexicans are
bad immigrants. These are things that people do to certain races that need to be fixed. We live in a
society where we base how a certain race is because of an amount of people s wrong doing.
I haven t opened my eyes until I ve come to the conclusion that we were all stereotyped because we
needed to distinguish what a person is by what they looked liked and how they act. I ve had friends
who were from Mexico and they treated me with much respect and care. I have a brother in law who is
black and he would do anything and everything for my sister and for the people around him.
Of course, there have been some people who have done wrong things and they may have been black
or white or any sort of race. However, these people shouldn t give us a reason why we need to neglect
the good people who have done fantastic things. All in all, we need to focus on the person itself rather
than the race or gender or whatever the group they belong to. Stereotype threats could have been the
reason performance drops, but we really don t know if that is the

College Is The Mistake Of Not Taking Advantage Of School...
Many students in college make the mistake of not taking advantage of school resources and activities.
Afterall, taking advantage of college s resources and participating in activities is what completes the
full college experience. Those type of people believe that the only thing universities have to offer is
education. While that is partially true, universities offer more than just classes. Universities such as
Cal Poly Pomona, offer a variety of different things that can help students succeed. Not only does it
offer helpful activities and enjoyable events but universities intend to keep it a safe campus in order
for students to enjoy their full college experience. Cal Poly provides students with a good learning
environment with many resources, school safety and social events. Cal Poly Pomona offers a variety
of academic and personal help for all students. In college, there is academic help such as tutoring,
writing centers, and office hours with professors. Cal Poly Pomona offers free tutoring daily for many
different subjects. The library has a writing center where tutors will help students develop a strong
paper through guidance and support. Other tutors will meet up with students and help steer them
towards the right direction. In addition, professors always have their doors open during office hours
and are there for one reason and that is to help their students. Professors at Cal Poly are supportive and

The Foolishness Of Jim Crow Laws
I m tired of all this foolishness. Everywhere I glance there are signs that read Whites and Colored. Jim
Crow Laws are everywhere and they re a number of laws requiring racial segregation. Jim Crow Laws
created segregation and discrimination against African Americans. People judge us by what they see,
the color of our skin instead of us as an individual. Everyone s human and no one should feel any
lesser than anybody, we all have feeling and sometimes I even feel terrible because of the way I get
treated. Everyone should be equal no matter the shade of color because that doesn t mean you can t
have the same rights as others. People see African Americans as less just because of the simple fact we
re black. Therefore, I m going to take all my pride and stand up for what I believe.
I m going to stop all this nonsense. I m going to make the world better and I will make history. I don t
want people to suffer the way I did and still am, I want them to live happy. I want people to be happy
of who they are and feel proud of themselves no matter what anybody has to say. I want people to
have a future and succeed, I just want the best. I want people to follow in my footsteps and say King
stood up for what he believed in and I want to do the same thing. I want to be an inspiration for the
next generation and because I know every African American wants the same thing, which is respect
and equality I will stand up for them. Even Though I know many people want this change, many
people are not willing to do what it takes because of the simple fact there scared. Believe me I m
scared too I don t know what s going to come out of this. Yes, I m running a really huge risk but I m
doing it for my people. I m willing to give up everything and anything just for there to be world peace
and equality. I ve been told to always strive for what I believe in and that s what I m going to do.
I don t like the fact that white people feel as if they re better than blacks and colored. I m not saying
that blacks and colored people are better either. I just don t know what lead people to think like this. In
all reality the world would be a better and healthier place if there was no type of discrimination.

Shaken Infant Syndrome Essay
Shaken Infant Syndrome
Shaken Infant Syndrome (also known as Shaken Baby Syndrome, SBS) is a relatively new term in the
medical world. Simply put, it is the collective name of the symptoms produced when an infant is
shaken violently or has sustained some type of head trauma. Any type of trauma to the head or cranial
region results in some negative response to the body s homeostatic system, in an infant or child this is
especially true. An infant or child s skull is disproportionately larger than that of a fully developed
adult. This usually results in a higher susceptibility to head and neck injury.
To understand how SBS effects the human body s homeostatic system it must first be established what
happens to be diagnosed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extra axial hemorrhages indicate that these injuries occur outside the substance of the brain itself.
Other injuries that can occur are damage to the neck, spine, and possible retinal hemorrhages or
detachment.
Extradural, subdural, and subarachnoid hemorrhages are best understood by reviewing the anatomy of
the meninges. The meninges are divided into three layers: the dura mater, arachnoid layer, and pia
mater. The dura mater lines the inner surfaces of the skull and forms partial divisions in the cortex of
the brain. The dura mater is attached to the skull, particularly at the cranial sutures of the bones that
make up the skull. In infants and small children this attachment has not yet taken place. The space
between the skull and the dura mater is the extradural space. A hemorrhage into this space is referred
to as an extradural hemorrhage. These hemorrhages are usually the result of a tear in a meningeal
artery.
An extradural hemorrhage is more prevalent in small children because the dura mater lining has not
yet firmly attached itself to the junctures in the skull. When the head snaps back and forth the brain
will bounce off the skull. This causes bruising or tearing to the dura mater or the meningeal artery.
When the body recognizes that bruising has occurred the body s natural healing abilities take effect.
The first thing that the body will do will be to release histamines to increase to permeability of the

Achievements of India in Space Research
ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIA IN SPACE RESEARCH
(1960 1970)
The Indian space program began establishing itself with the launch of sounding rockets, which was
complimented by India s geographical proximity to the equator. These were launched from the newly
established ThumbaEquatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS)
, built near Thiruvananthapuram in southern Kerala. Initially, American sounding rockets like the Nike
Apache, and French sounding rockets like the Centaure, were fired and used for studying the upper
atmospheric electrojet, which until then had only been studied from ship based sounding rocket
launches in the Pacific Ocean. These were soon followed by British and Russian rockets. However,

In 1993, the time had come for the maiden flight of the PSLV. The first launch was a failure. The first
successful launch took place in 1994, and since then, the PSLV has become the workhorse launch
vehicle placing both remote sensing and communications satellites into orbit, creating the largest
cluster in the world, and providing unique data to Indian industry and agriculture. Continual
performance upgrades have increased the payload capacity of the rocket significantly since then. By
this time, with the launch of the PSLV not far away, it had been decided that work should begin on the
next class of launch vehicles, intended to place larger satellites into geostationary transfer orbit
(GTO), and thus a launcher partly derived from the PSLV design, but featuring large liquid strap on
motors and a cryogenic upper stage motor, was devised the Geostationary Satellite Launch Vehicle.

testing of the cryogenic engine on November 15, 2007. This test conducted for its full flight duration
of 720 seconds at the Liquid Propulsion test facility at Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu, puts India on the

filled with hatred and violence, God s tenderness and understanding is still available for us to grab

can improve my preaching. Her introduction of questions allowed the audience to put their own

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, during the Bernie Sanders Presidential campaign in
2016. Symone Sanders has been featured on Fox News, MSNBC, NBC and CNN as a Political
Commentator. I was very lucky to listen to her speech last Wednesday as she lectured NCCU students
about how Black History Month came about. Symone explained that it was all thanks to a man named
Dr. Carter G Woodson. He was the one an American historian, author, journalist. He was one of the
first scholars to study African American history and because of this he felt that African Americans
were not commemorating Black history to their full potential. He wanted to

Analysis Of Bruno Bettelheim s Beauty And The Beast
Bruno Bettelheim, he analyzed fairy tales in terms of Freudian psychology, which is represented in his
works of The Uses of Enchantment. Beaumont s story of Beauty and the Beast is where the first
discovery of Beauty s problem was identified as the Oedipal complex. The Oedipal complex is a child
s desire to have a sexual relation with the parent of the opposite sex, but it is repressed deep in the
mind. Beauty in Beauty and the Beast has a special bond of affection with her father; there is the
problem that arises within this complex that what if she were to be stuck at the stage of development
and never outgrow it. Within the fairy tale written by Jeanne Marie Beaumont there is the
representation of the period where she begins to transfer the affection to someone else. An analysis of
Bettelheim s theory of the Oedipal complex reveals psychological problems of growing up in the
written fairy tale and Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Bettelheim s theory is centralized on
his argument of the importance of fairy tales on a child s development. This argument was proposed
through The Uses of Enchantment, he suggested that fairy tales provided images to the children and
with these images they could structure a better direction to one s life. Bruno Bettelheim felt that the
use of fairy tales for child s development represented good versus evil clearly, these stories helped
children deal with problem of an inner self, the description of the heroes/heroines going out into

Many people have no desire for the government to take part in any variety of communication

The Legalization Of Medical Marijuana
Thomas Gordon The Legalization of Medical Marijuana Health Care Research Utilization Marie
Vasquez HCS 465 March 19, 2016 The Legalization of Medical Marijuana Marijuana is one of the
most discussed and controversial topics in the U.S today. Many say that it has medicinal benefits and
should be made legal. While many say that it has a high potential for abuse (Medical) and should
remain illegal. Among the arguments, proponents for medical marijuana have presented a stronger
argument for legalization through their use of research and evidence. Opponents of medical marijuana
have given many reasons for why it should not be legalized. One of the main reasons they argue is that
Marijuana smoke contains known carcinogens and produces dependency in users (Medical). In many
studies it has shown that it does have some harm such as the harms associated with smoking, but the
National Academy of Science affirmed that marijuana s short term medical benefits outweigh any
smoking related harms for some patients (Medical). Though marijuana has been proven to be
damaging to the lungs than tobacco, a study in 2006 found no evidence that marijuana smokers had
higher rates of lung cancer (Medical Marijuana). The FDA has tested the effectiveness of marijuana
and has found that the cannabinoids are helpful in treating pain associated with chemotherapy,
postoperative recovery, and spinal cord injury, as well as neuropathic pain, which is often experienced

Neuron Synthesis
The papers Integrating the molecular and cellular basis of odor coding in the Drosophila antenna and
The receptors and coding logic for bitter taste try to understand how sensory neurons interacting with
chemicals produce the sensation of smell or taste in the brain. With chemosensation, a chemical
molecule binds to a receptor neuron, where transduction occurs. An action potential can be generated
which can travel along interneurons until it reaches the brain, which can process the information and
perceive a specific smell or taste. While all the steps from reception to perception are important, both
papers focus on receptor neurons and their role in chemosensation. Integrating the molecular and
cellular basis of odor coding in the Drosophila antenna looks at mapping the olfactory system using
Drosophila as a model organism. Or genes encode olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) which map to a
neuron class. The neuron projects to a specific glomerulus, and the signal eventually gets to the brain.
This paper demonstrates three methods of mapping a receptor to a neuron and odor and uses them to
show that Or22a receptor maps to the ab3A neuron and that Or47a receptor maps to the ab5B neuron.

Beyond that, however, these papers are not explicit in describing the importance and application of
chemosensation research, especially the paper using Drosophila. In most cases, animal models are
used to understand processes within humans, but
Dobritsa et al. acknowledge two important differences between human and Drosophila olfactory
systems that axonal pathfinding of ORNs to glomeruli occur at different life cycle stages and that the
number of ORNs in glomeruli differ by more than an order of magnitude. Question arise about how
much of the insight gained from these papers can be extended to humans as well as other sensory

Analysis Of New Zealand Shared Space Design Essay
Introduction
In New Zealand shared spaces are a relatively new concept in relation to the United Kingdom, and
Netherlands. Therefore, case studies from the UK will provide strong insight in providing guidance on
speed reduction principles of shared spaces. The principles discovered throughout these case studies
will assist in developing an assessment criteria that is reliable and effective.
New Road, Brighton, London
New Roads shared space design has had an impressive design impact. Traffic volumes have reduced
by 93%, and vehicle speeds remain below 20km/hr. The road has many physical features that occupy
the street such as benches, restaurant, and café and bar seating, vegetation and pedestrian dominated,
with a carriageway width of 3.0 metres.
New Road, Brighton use different types of surfaces within the space with many pedestrians citing the
different surfaces as the key factor as the reason for taking ownership of the whole street with vehicles
and cyclists feel the different surfaces make them feel as pedestrians have priority therefore, they
travel with more care.
Ashford Ring Road
Ashford Ring Road shared space design has improved safety significantly. Vehicle speeds remain
around 32km/hr. This road also has many physical features that occupy the street such as benches,
signage, vegetation and pedestrian dominated. The road uses physical features to visually narrow the

Solove Essay
Solove s argumentative Appeal
Daniel Solove writes in his article that the nothing to hide argument is a terrible argument, because
privacy is important to everyone and everyone has something to hide. Solove writes that if you break
the argument down to its core the argument means nothing. Solove addresses the argument for the
nothing to hide belief by stating why some agree with the argument because the argument can be
protection against acts of terror, then describing how the government knowing everything on someone
can cause plenty of problems as he describes. Solove takes the explanation of privacy to a place that
most people ,if not all ,can relate to just to define privacy more than the general consensus. Solove

Solove makes these examples of his head but shows no proof of these instances actually happening
causing the reader not to feel that the danger of privacy intrusion actually applies to the real world.
Solove will also use examples from a book ,but still no real world experience like Kafka s novel
centers around a man who is arrested but not informed why this would be a great example for logos if
this example was a real experience. Solove lacks very important and crucial statistics to drive his
points forward making the topic not seem very important, because he only used made up examples. If
Solove would have added statistical evidence or more real world examples his argument would have
had a stronger foundation.
Solove did use a lot of emotional appeal to convince his audience on the argument of privacy and it s
importance. According to Solove quite a few other people believe that if you have something to hide
the secret must be bad. Solove off the belief of a secret must be bad elaborates, by relating privacy in a
form for everyone is able understand like exposing people s naked bodies making the audience
understand and partially feel uncomfortable about that information making them understand that
privacy is important. Solove also pulls on the audience s fears such as blackmail and the improper use
of your personal data by the government.Solove uses a lot of visual effects to appeal to the audience s

Dealing with Poor Parenting Essay
As a teacher in a high need school, I expect to encounter many various challenges ranging from lack
of supplies to administration blunders and difficult coworkers. Of all the trying situations a teacher is
faced with in his or her career, most challenging would be poor parenting. Parents have the greatest
influence in a child s development. They have the greatest impact on their children in most if not all
aspects of the child s personality and outlook on life. Parents, as caregivers and guides, have a
responsibility to push their children into the world and to encourage their children to work hard
towards their goals. Some take this duty much less earnestly than they ought to, resulting in the types
of parents that I often encounter in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Worse, some have no interest in their children s activities at all. Children need to be nourished in every
sense of the term. Without this, their capacity to become successful and productive citizens is
handicapped. The sooner parents begin to recognize this crucial factor; the better off the children will
be in many ways. No attention at home relates to acting out in class. Negative attention (in various
forms of maltreatment) leads to lowered self esteem, keeping the child from reaching their true
potential. As a teacher, all these home issues would act as barriers to my and my students academic
goals within the classroom.
Through hard work, effective communication and parent teacher collaboration, I think in most cases,
these difficulties can be overcome. Frequent contact with parents and encouragement for their
involvement would be great ways to make them aware of what their children require as support in
their academic pursuits. Parents and teachers ought to work together as partners, having the same
goals in mind when it comes to the children. However, I recognize that some parents can be quite
difficult. This issue, within high need schools where children may come from unstable homes, would
be amplified. Fortunately for these children, I am known for never giving up on anyone. Despite the
sheer ignorance or viciousness of some of the parents I expect to encounter, I will always try to

Symbolism through Theme Of Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea To produce a mighty book, you must
choose a mighty theme. No great and enduring volume can ever be written on the flea, though many
there be that have tried it, stated Herman Melville. As implied, without theme, no novel can be
considered mighty or have any depth. Theme is essential in any work of art. Jane Eyre is a novel by
Charlotte Brontë that takes the reader through the experiences of Jane Eyre, from childhood to
adulthood. This includes her love for Mr. Rochester, who is the master of Thornfield Hall, the school

In some cases, it is a symbol used in some cases for rebirth or new life. Jane is often compared to fire
while Antoinette is intrigued by fire. Jane is referred to as a ridge of lighted health, alive, glancing,
devouring (Wide Sargasso Sea, Chapter 4). Also, in Wide Sargasso Sea, Rochester loves the immense
fireflies as he also loves the candles that Antoinette repeatedly puts out around the house. This theme
of fire is obvious in two particular cases. One of these cases is when Coulibri is burned and Anette
falls into insanity, and the other being when Bertha burns Thornfield down, ultimately killing herself
and seriously injuring Rochester (Symbolism in Wide Sargasso Sea). In addition, Rochester, in Wide
Sargasso Sea, describes the West Indies as fiery . This shows his dislike of the land he is not familiar
with until it increases and reaches the point when he decides to shoot himself. This scene relates to the
scene in Jane Eyre when Jane hears Rochester s voice as she walks through the woods. Fire relates
Jane and Antoinette in different ways. Fire additionally describes Jane s love for Rochester, while on
the other hand; it describes Antoinette s pain and fear, whereas it also links Jane and Bertha. The fire
that Jane possesses is her love for Rochester as she describes it as fiery iron grasped my vitals, and

Sociological Exploration Or Research Is A Complex Process

Essay#2 Sociological exploration or research is a complex process. At what time a scientist attempts
to figure out the way the natural world works, he will utilize experiments to search for the cause and
effect. In other words, they construct an experiment so they can observe or evaluate any change in one
entity and cause another to vary in a repetitive way. When things change within an experiment they
are called variables. A variable is a characteristic that can change in value or magnitude under
different conditions. With experiments, there are three types of variables, independent variable,

Step four you will collect data, this is a critical step in the research process. It provides information
needed to solve or explain the research questions. Step five involves analyzing results. In this step, all
the information that has been collected to answer the question is compared to the variables to
determine the difference. Step six involves presenting the finding of the research. This is where you
will validate or confirm your theory by the data collected and analyzed finally presenting your
findings or your theory. No matter what approach that is used in research, the researchers want to
maximize the study s reliability which is the consistency with which the same measure produces
similar results time after time. Researchers also strive for validity which is the degree to which a
measure is accurate and really measures what it claims to measure. The six steps of the scientific
method in research and the relationship with between cause and correlation can be explained by
saying that correlation merely occur when we detect change in two simultaneously; causation exist
when we can demonstrate in one influence that causes the researchers need to establish correlation and
time order and rule out alternative explanations. A survey is a widely used research methods, a survey

Analysis of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft Mary Wollstonecraft, most
famously known as the first feminist , was born in London on April 27, 1759. She was raised by an
abusive father that led her desire to become a philosophical writer and an advocate for women s rights.
In her book, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, Mary Wollstonecraft uses examples of ethos,
pathos, and logos to extend her argument that women should have individual rights, especially in
education. Wollstonecraft uses ethos to convey her position that women should have individual
liberties and the right to a good education. Wollstonecraft uses the appeal to sentiments and morals to

Developing materials and interventions that are tailored to a specific target audience can help ensure
that the messages appeal to that subgroup and will likely spur the behavior change/product use. For
this social marketing campaign, the target audience is sexually active men and women ages twenty
one through thirty five. Another aspect of the target audience is that they are active members in the
dating scene. As a result, all promotion methods, materials, and interventions will be designed with
this target audience in mind. The second construct for this social marketing campaign is product. In
this case, the product is the behavior change of utilizing condoms during sex. As a result, this
campaign aims to change how individuals view condoms (Cruz, 2017b). Additionally, an important
objective of this campaign is to showcase the benefit of condoms in reducing STI s. The third
construct of this social marketing campaign refers to price. This can be the financial cost of engaging
in the behavior change as well as the potential barriers (Stoney et al., 2015). The financial cost of
condoms may prevent individuals from utilizing them during sex. In addition, the inconvenience,
inaccessibility or embarrassment of purchasing condoms may also serve as barriers. Price also refers
to what an individual has to give up in order to engage in the health behavior (Cruz, 2017b). Members

millions of years ago. Throughout their life they absorbed energy from the sun, which was stored as
carbon molecules. As soon as these plant and animals died, they sank to the bottom of the sea. Over

During 1941 through 1945 a war had occurred in the Pacific between the Americans and the Japanese
this war was called The Pacific Theater. This war was also being fought during the duration of another
World War against Germany and Japan but on May 8, 1945 Germany surrendered to the allied powers
leaving Japan to still be dealt with. However Japan would not surrender even after the major battles
between the Americans and Japanese in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The Americans then came to
conclusion to try and get to a new military weapon which then started the ManHattan Project. The

that were caused by the Japanese were also prevented from happening even further upon into the war.
The Japanese would also do Island Hopping which they would specifically attack enemy islands and

  • 4. Persuasive Speech Outline On Mental Illness Kaylee Gorbet Persuasive Speech Preparation Outline Destigmatizing Mental Illness Specific Purpose: Persuade my audience to take steps to realize the truth behind mental illnesses instead of listening to the stigmas. Central Idea: I am going to be talking about the stigmas associated with mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. Introduction I. There is an illness that is different from any other illness or disease that we know of. This illness has few, if any, outward physical symptoms. Most of the time, we cannot tell that a person has this illness just by looking at them. The illness I am talking about is mental illness; I am able to say that I have been affected by my father s mental illnesses. II. Today, I am going to be talking to you about the stigmas associated with mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. III. Depression, generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders, etc are more common than one might realize, but they often go unnoticed because of these stigmas. First, I will define mental illness and give you some statistics about mental illness. Second, I will define stigma and tell you about the ways mentally ill people have been stigmatized both in the past and today and why. Finally, I will tell you about some laws that attempt to decrease stigma in the work place and offer suggestions as to how to further decrease stigma. Transition: In order to understand what mental illness is, it is helpful to have an operational definition of the term. Body I. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that mental illnesses can affect persons of any age, race, religion or income and defines mental illness as a medical condition that disrupts a person s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning... that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. a. Using this definition, we can conclude that mental illness is non discriminatory and is a legitimate condition that affects a person s ability to function in their day to day life. b. The statistics on mental illness are surprising. NAMI s website gives the following statistics on reported mental illness. Bipolar disorder or manic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Huckleberry Finn Dehumanization In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, author Mark Twin explores the dehumanization of African American slaves in American history. The novel follows Huckleberry Finn and his unlikely companion, Jim, a runaway slave, as they travel up the Mississippi River in search of a different life. While the novel focuses on racism in American society at the height of slavery, it is as controversial in today s society as it was in Mark Twain s time. When Twain wrote Huckleberry Finn in 1884, slavery had been abolished but racism was still evident in the mistreatment of African American people. Huck and Jim s story forces readers to recognize the racism that was and is in existence in America. Many schools require students to read The Adventures of Huckleberry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Huck is greatly influenced by the culture he grew up in. But when he gets the chance to turn in Jim, who has become a good friend of his, he doesn t. After he writes a letter confessing his adventures with Jim, he rethinks sending it, and tears it up stating, All right, then, I ll GO to hell (192). When Huck says this, he is choosing his friend over society. This expresses a sense of rebellion against society that most teenagers go through. Teenagers today rebel against what society says is right, by using their own thoughts and coming up with a different conclusion. Young adults are often greatly influenced by their friends and they will do almost anything for a friend. This is what Huck is doing, and once readers realize this, they can relate to how he is feeling. It puts his situation into perspective for someone in today s world. Walking in Huck s shoes, helps students gain a better understanding of Huck s choices. Students can also relate to Huckleberry in his immature actions. In the following quote, Huck is pretending to be a girl and has already given the name Sarah Williams. But he forgets and the woman questioning him says Honey, I thought you said it was Sarah when you first come in? to which Huck replies with a quick lie. Oh, yes m, I did. Sarah Mary Williams. Sarah s my first name. Some calls me Sarah, some calls me Mary (52). After being caught in a lie, Huck proceeds to tell another one. Of course teenagers nowadays still try to use this lying strategy. But like Huck, they are often caught in the lie and end up having to tell the truth. It seems to be a second nature for most teenagers to lie when they feel like they are at fault. And for someone like Huck, who is usually at fault, getting one s way through deceit appears to be the easiest plan. This trait of Huck s is something students can personally relate to and laugh ... • 6. Troy University Case Study Troy University has grown and it needs to be able to sustain that growth. In order to do that it needs to resolve the issues it encounters along the way, one prominent complaint among the student body and professors is the need for improvements with the parking availability at the university. I believe the university will fail the students and faculty by not providing anything and focusing on other areas instead. The university is focused more on improving the revenue flow than the experience of students and faculty that provide its revenue. As the school has grown into what it is today there has not been enough of a focus on providing parking. It has reached the point where the sides of roads can be lined with vehicles that have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sheer volume of students the university has exceeds the number it can provide housing for, thus making housing a priority over parking. With a limited budget the issue could take longer to resolve fully, another issue could be the space required for a lot or garage. Troy University also has a bus system that helps off campus students with transportation but the times they arrive can vary greatly. The university is exceeding what it can be expected to support and with that all aspects of student life can be at risk. Even campus involvement suffering because so many are forced off campus for housing. If the school were to resolve both issues it could see a happier populace. The university has options to fix the issue, but will likely neglect the issue as it does not directly contribute to the university financially instead they will prioritize new dorms and a new recreation facility. One option that the university could implement is a freshman driving ban, this would likely add strain on the bus system and demand a rework of it, but the buses are not used by a majority of students and a rework of it could see demand rise which would be beneficial and maybe even justify an expansion of it. The university could see backlash in response to such a policy, but campus involvement would likely improve. This solution would also see the space that the university needs to expand be available for other projects and not used by massive lots or garages, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analyzing A Piece Of Writing By Jessica Statsky 1.In the piece of writing by Jessica Statsky, she writes about children s sports and how they should not be competitive. In making this claim she uses certain evidence to make her point valid. In one of her pieces of evidence she uses states that, That a twelve year old trying to throw a curve ball, for example, may put abnormal strain on developing arm and shoulder muscles, sometimes resulting in lifelong injuries: (Statsky, 350). From this evidence Statsky is trying to make the claim that sports are hurting children and could put a risk on their bodies and the development of their bodies, if they put too much strain on themselves. Another piece of information Stasky uses says, The kids get so scared. They get hit once and they don t wont anything to do with football anymore. They ll sit on the bench and pretend their leg hurts (Stasky, 350). In the evidence that Stasky uses is good, but it is not very ordinary situations that occur. She also does not provide any personal experience to go along with her writing. Which in the end, would make the paper sound better and let the audience know that she has her own experiences with playing sports at a young age. 2.In Christine Romano s assessment on Stasky s work start off fairly well. She gives her credit where credit is deserved. Not to long after that is when she starts to critize Stasky and her weaknesses. • 8. Should Napoleon Be Considered A Hero Essay Should Napoleon Bonaparte Be Considered A Hero or tarrant? A hero is defined as a man who starts from the bottom and climbs the top to achieve greatness based on his talent. Should Napoleon be considered as a hero? Mostly people would argue that Napoleon is a hero as his brave nature made France one of the superior countries in the world. I believe Napoleon was a hero, as his many accomplishments improved the French society and ultimately enlightened the world. Not only he did better for France through his policy but he also expanded the boundaries of France with many battles through his strategically planned military. He gave citizens of France the pride they needed. Being a military genius, Napoleon won many battles to expand his French territory. His strategic military plans throughout many wars made him a hero all over the Europe. • 9. Analysis Of Hassan V. City Of New York In this particular case, Hassan v. City of New York, a variety of issues have been raised that intersect with the idea of government surveillance on these Muslim Communities. This case does not utilize a federal or state RFRA, but rather focuses strictly on determining the legal validity of the government surveillance program of Muslim Americans. The Plaintiffs have argued that the NYPD s government surveillance program has violated the equal protection, establishment, and free exercise freedoms of the constitution. To understand these issues, it is important to examine each of these issues one by one. First, there is the issue of equal protection. The issue the plaintiffs raise here is whether the government can legally single out and discriminate against these Muslim Americans based purely on religion. Currently, religion is not seen as a suspect classification unlike race, because it can be changed, yet for most people, identifying with or practicing a religion is an immutable part of their identity as a person. • 10. Persuasive Essay About Martial Arts Earlier in my book, i gave a list of reasons why martial arts fail to prepare people for self defense. I will elaborate on the topic in this chapter. Bruce Lee said it and now i m going to repeat it styles limit minds! Think about it. You pay for a class in Wing Chun, Wushu, Krav Maga, Judo, or any style and what do you learn? Forms, drills, techniques, moves, and rules. You spend countless hours practicing forms, never knowing what they are for. You spend almost no time applying them completely in combat. You are enslaved by the art. You get a slap on the wrist if you try to do anything outside of what the style entails. Too fat and don t have enough muscle? You ll get told to hit the gym. Too muscular? That s bad for your techniques as big muscles slow you down. What if you have the potential to be one of the fastest or greatest strikers in the world? What if you have the potential to put your brute strength excellent use in addition to performing the art? What if you could still fight at lightning speed despite your large size? What if you have the potential to do something extraordinary that s never been done before? How do you figure out a way to accomplish all of that? Certainly not in your local martial arts school! The only way to find out is to research what each style has to offer, take what you find useful from each one, modify it, and discard the rest. In doing so, you create balance. You practice during training to make your ideas work. You could try ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Japanese American Citizens League The Japanese American Citizens League, also known by the acronym JACL, is a Nisei organization founded in 1929 with the initial goal of lobbying for Japanese American Civil Rights while promoting the integration of citizens into American culture. Since its inception the JACL has expanded its mandate to focus on lobbying for the Civil Rights of all Asian American citizens and protecting Japanese American cultural heritage. The JACL is considered one of the oldest and one of the most influential national organizations promoting social justice and equality throughout the country. The actions of the JACL have frequently been shaped by and frame in response to varying historical events as well as both public prejudice and political attitudes. As a result, the organization has, at times, been both critiqued by the Asian American community for its support of racist government policies and praised for its opposition of legislative discrimination. In particular the organization has been criticized for its complacency during World War Two (1939 1945) with the federal government s discriminatory internment of Japanese American citizens. In this world, stereotyping has been a part of how we live. To some people, stereotyping has been a serious issue; to others, not so much. Stereotype is a term defined as: An oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people without regard for individual difference. Jim Crow Laws are everywhere and they re a number of laws requiring racial segregation. Jim Crow Laws created segregation and discrimination against African Americans. People judge us by what they see, the color of our skin instead of us as an individual. Everyone s human and no one should feel any lesser than anybody, we all have feeling and sometimes I even feel terrible because of the way I get treated. Everyone should be equal no matter the shade of color because that doesn t mean you can t have the same rights as others. People see African Americans as less just because of the simple fact we re black. Therefore, I m going to take all my pride and stand up for what I believe. I m going to stop all this nonsense. I want people to be happy of who they are and feel proud of themselves no matter what anybody has to say. I want people to have a future and succeed, I just want the best. I want people to follow in my footsteps and say King stood up for what he believed in and I want to do the same thing. I want to be an inspiration for the next generation and because I know every African American wants the same thing, which is respect and equality I will stand up for them. Simply put, it is the collective name of the symptoms produced when an infant is shaken violently or has sustained some type of head trauma. Any type of trauma to the head or cranial region results in some negative response to the body s homeostatic system, in an infant or child this is especially true. An infant or child s skull is disproportionately larger than that of a fully developed adult. This usually results in a higher susceptibility to head and neck injury. Extra axial hemorrhages indicate that these injuries occur outside the substance of the brain itself. Other injuries that can occur are damage to the neck, spine, and possible retinal hemorrhages or detachment. Extradural, subdural, and subarachnoid hemorrhages are best understood by reviewing the anatomy of the meninges. The meninges are divided into three layers: the dura mater, arachnoid layer, and pia mater. The dura mater lines the inner surfaces of the skull and forms partial divisions in the cortex of the brain. The dura mater is attached to the skull, particularly at the cranial sutures of the bones that make up the skull. In infants and small children this attachment has not yet taken place. The space between the skull and the dura mater is the extradural space. A hemorrhage into this space is referred to as an extradural hemorrhage. These hemorrhages are usually the result of a tear in a meningeal artery. An extradural hemorrhage is more prevalent in small children because the dura mater lining has not yet firmly attached itself to the junctures in the skull. When the head snaps back and forth the brain will bounce off the skull. This causes bruising or tearing to the dura mater or the meningeal artery. When the body recognizes that bruising has occurred the body s natural healing abilities take effect. Beaumont s story of Beauty and the Beast is where the first discovery of Beauty s problem was identified as the Oedipal complex. The Oedipal complex is a child s desire to have a sexual relation with the parent of the opposite sex, but it is repressed deep in the mind. Beauty in Beauty and the Beast has a special bond of affection with her father; there is the problem that arises within this complex that what if she were to be stuck at the stage of development and never outgrow it. Within the fairy tale written by Jeanne Marie Beaumont there is the representation of the period where she begins to transfer the affection to someone else. An analysis of Bettelheim s theory of the Oedipal complex reveals psychological problems of growing up in the written fairy tale and Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Bettelheim s theory is centralized on his argument of the importance of fairy tales on a child s development. This argument was proposed through The Uses of Enchantment, he suggested that fairy tales provided images to the children and with these images they could structure a better direction to one s life. Neuron Synthesis The papers Integrating the molecular and cellular basis of odor coding in the Drosophila antenna and The receptors and coding logic for bitter taste try to understand how sensory neurons interacting with chemicals produce the sensation of smell or taste in the brain. With chemosensation, a chemical molecule binds to a receptor neuron, where transduction occurs. An action potential can be generated which can travel along interneurons until it reaches the brain, which can process the information and perceive a specific smell or taste. While all the steps from reception to perception are important, both papers focus on receptor neurons and their role in chemosensation. Integrating the molecular and cellular basis of odor coding in the Drosophila antenna looks at mapping the olfactory system using Drosophila as a model organism. Or genes encode olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) which map to a neuron class. The neuron projects to a specific glomerulus, and the signal eventually gets to the brain.
