Beethoven s third symphony, made in 1803, is the one where he started writing his style which was
quite recognizably his own, rather than based on a previous composer (Tames, 16). The third
symphony, originally called Bonaparte, was named after Napoleon Bonaparte. Later, Beethoven
changed the name to
quot;Sinfonia Eroica quot; (Schmit, 36). Two times as long as any one of Mozart s or
Hayden s symphonies, the third symphony challenged the idea of what a symphony is. The fourth
Symphony was written in 1807. This symphony shows Beethoven as a good humored person (Schmit,
39). This symphony was smaller and more appealing than the third symphony, and had a more lively
style (Thompson, 25).
In the year of 1808, he wrote the fifth symphony. He went with Hayden to Esterházy Palace at
Eisenstadt. His fifth is one of his most famous symphonies. Work on the fifth was started before the
fourth and was published after the fourth. This is one of the most popular symphonies of all time, and
was performed on the 22 of December 1808. (Schmit, 41) This symphony was made popular because
he used many instruments that were not normally use in orchestral works at that time (Thompson, 26).

In verse 12, there is the motif of guilt and sin, arranged in such a way as to form an assonance for
emphasis. Verse 13 contains the motifs of the folly of Ephraim which leads to his destruction, and the
imagery of the female body, both common threads in the book of Hosea. The imagery of the female
body, particularly regarding death in childbirth, is deeply connected to ideas of taboo, human fertility
and agricultural fertility. These verses encourage us to question the world around us and to be
prepared to leave our comfort zone.
The First Motif: Guilt and Sin In verse 12, the author uses several linguistic devices to make his point.
Both verbs, ‫רּו֙ר‬‫ָצ‬ and ‫ָ֖נה‬‫ּו‬‫פ‬ ‫ְצ‬, begin with the same Hebrew letter and form an assonance. In addition,
both nouns, ‫ן‬ ‫ֺ֣ו‬‫ֲע‬ and ‫ֹו‬ ‫אֽת‬‫ָּט‬‫ַח‬, present similar concepts. How the author is making his point here adds to
the point itself; in the Hebrew, this verse is repetitive in both sound and meaning. This emphasizes the
author s point and makes it less easily dismissed or forgotten. It digs deeper into the minds of the
audience than if the author had merely stated it once. Interestingly, the word pair of guilt and sin
appear three other times in Hosea (4:8; 8:13; 9:9), and each time the verse is similarly structured with
an assonance of the verbs and the same two parallel nouns above. The linguistic quality of these verses

involved needed further enhancement and investigations in terms of quantum yield, biocompatibility
and surface functionalization. In principle, surface passivation is a very effective technique to improve

precursors following pyrolytic treatments and surface passivation strategies
The evaluation of the quantum yield of the C dots as a function of their different chemical

Assessing the effects of surface passivation to the photoluminescent intensity.
Assessment of the competence of C dots modification as a bioimaging agent. This will be done in
collaboration with researchers in Pharmacy.
Further application such as solar cells sensitizers might be followed.
