Similarities Between Roger And Me By Emile Durkheim
General Motors, booming and blooming, the largest corporation in the world took place in Flint,
Michigan. For so long, GM was a major function of the community socially and economically.
Suddenly, General Motors CEO Roger Smith took action, then terminated several plantations in Flint
as well as thousands of jobs. For this reason, Michael Moore made it his mission to record the
consequences of closing the GM plants in Flint. As well as his quest to talk to the GM chairman,
Roger Smith, in the movie Roger and Me. In this essay, using Durkheim s perspective and Roger and
Me, we will analyze how the division of labor can functionally shape a society within a certain period
of time. Significantly, Emile Durkheim was one of the three major theoretical thinkers of sociology. In
effect, the functionalism perspective derives from the analyses of Emile Durkheim. The functionalist
perspective is molded by different parts working together. As an expert in studying the social
phenomenon, Durkheim, in his book The Divisions of Labor in Society (1893), argued that a society
alters from mechanical to organic as it becomes more complex. (Fraling, p80) ... Show more content

Presidents Of The Great Presidents
Historian Arthur Schlesinger said the team Imperial Presidency is when a president uses more power
than the Constitution allows, and were able to avoid the checks and balances of our constitutional
system. In this paper, I am going to explore three presidents who many feel were imperial presidents.
While doing the research I was surprised how many great presidents had people make a case that they
were an imperial president. For example, I read many articles about George Washington and Abraham
Lincoln running imperial presidency. Abraham Lincoln is widely considered one of our greatest
presidents. The three presidents that I am going to focus my paper on are Lyndon Johnson, Richard
Nixon, and George W. Bush. Lyndon Johnson took over as President when John F. Kennedy was
assassinated on a hot Dallas day. Many feel that the government acted quickly after JFK was
pronounced dead to move on actions that JFK was not going to do in his presidency. Johnson sent over
22,000 troops to the Dominican Republic in 1965 without the approval of congress (Schlesinge,
1973). Johnson also sent combat troops in Vietnam. People still have a bad taste in their mouth over
the debacle in Vietnam. Vietnam ranks 4th among all wars in troop casualties and was a war that lead
people to flee the country because they did not want to fight and did not believe the war was just.
Congress required 48 hours notice when a president wants to send troops to another country and

Consequences Of Urbanization During The Progressive Era
Many industries like the railroad, steel, and oil industries transformed American society in the early
20th century. The railroad industries was one of the most important since thanks to it, the costs of
products decreased and the population increased because food was available in a large variety and
quantity. Along with the increase of these industry, also came the rise of urbanization. This is called
industrialized or the rize of many industries. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating
economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants.
Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor
housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans
addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor.
Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government
awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right to
vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the homelife.
While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class women had to
work either on farms or in factories. Document B suggests that prohibiting women to vote is forcing
them to work under hard conditions. The smaller wage and harder conditions imposed on the women
worker are due to the lack of

Raising The Bar Analysis
So Jon Taffer, the guy who does the show Bar Rescue, wrote an extremely insightful book into what
he thinks makes a successful bar and it s titled Raising the Bar I picked it up a couple years ago but I
decided to read it again and the very first chapter is titled You Sell One Thing: Reactions So in this
chapter, Jon goes on and talkes a lot about how the number one thing that business owners fail to
realize is that it s not enough to just have a business that s running, rather you need to have a business
that leaves a good and positive impression on people to truly succeed. Here s a paragraph from it that I
really enjoy: Think about this: Two people get dressed in the morning. One person throws on whatever
clothes are available; the other takes the time to select an outfit and make sure it s clean, pressed, and
put together. WHo makes the better impression? The carefully dressed person is thought of as calmer,
more powerful, smarter, and more thoughtful than the sloppy one. In an experiment to test perceptions
and appearance, teaching assistants who wore formal clothes were perceived as more intelligent than
those who dressed more casually. A Harvard study found that women who wore makeup were
considered more competent and likable than their barefaced counterparts. ... Show more content on

Larry Murty
The author, Larry McMurty in his article A Road They did Not Know sheds light on the happenings of
June 25 26, 1876, at the battle of the Little Big Horn. McMurty mentions, the summer of 1875, Lt.
Col. George Armstrong Custer revealed the presence of gold in the Black Hills in front of the whole
nation, which made the government regret their agreement of giving the Black Hills and other lands to
the Sioux. The whites from the peace party and many other parties, didn t like it, and said that the
government at least try to honor the agreement, especially, which was announced publicly in 1868.

All these arguments are from the studies and memory, the author also tells us about the subject history
and its advantages, how historians can rein to their imagination. The author even highlights, Lt. Col.
Custer cut his hair short, so that no one can recognize him, and nobody recognized him. After some
point Custer realized that the Indians weren t running away, in fact, they intend to kill him. Although,
Custer knew that he had entered the valley of death, but he kept fighting, but he enjoyed himself till
his last breathe. For Custer s men s were so exhausted after that long journey they were barely in the
position to stand, they had only tiredness, horror, and death. As for Maj. Reno he could have charged
the Indians, which could have resulted in disarray, but he didn t. Hence, Indians chased him to the
Little Big Horn where he hardly survived. The entry of Crazy Horse is still not confirmed, some say
he seized Custer on the high ground, but it was Gall, the Hunkpapa warrior, and his men were
successful in turning Reno back and harassed Custer so badly that the 7Th Cavalry; the soldiers, never

by killing Custer. A Hunkpapa, Bad Soup, also says by pointing towards his Custer s body that how
foolish he was assuming him to be the most powerful man. General Grant blamed Custer for
everything, Cheyenne attack of 1868 by Custer was avenged, the Survivors: Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull

Should Companies Bear The Corporate Social Responsibility...
Should companies bear the corporate social responsibility of employment practices among the
multinational corporations?
This essay will illustrate why the specific ethical issue is essential, analyse further ethical question,
define current comprehension of ethical issues, analyse the act of ethical utilitarianism by forecasting
three important positive and three important negative consequences, and should companies bear the
corporate social responsibility or not.
Firstly, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been argued since the 1950s and the definition of
CSR is continually changing. It also demonstrated as resolving social issues (Wood and Logsdon
2002). Because CSR is focusing on estimating the social economy, which depends ... Show more

managerial approach, a few of negative consequences happen like protests, boycotts, and strikes. The
third theory is which elements will affect employee s commitment. Towers Perrin (2009) figured out
that community advancement is the third most significant driver of employee engagement.
For example, in America, company s competence is the second most considered factor, and the
following factor is the company s duty for workers in general. In conclusion, CSR theories such as
utilitarian, managerial and relational approaches are commonly using. Thirdly, in the global world, as
a result of multinational employment, there are a plenty of CSR issues that are even much complex
and difficult that before. One of the issues is extra legal which is voluntary, not compulsory. Because
of the voluntary, sometimes big companies do not follow the rule of CSR. For example, the famous
brand like Nike faces tremendous pressure in order to be liable to employees. They arouse acrimony
through the indirect business strategies such as providing low cost conditions to labours. Hence, to be
capable achieving liable, companies need to be responsible. In

equipment are safe and set up correctly. I keep my sign in/out sheet on me at all times and keep count

the children are playing or participating in activities, I walk around the classroom and encourage the
children to play safely and use toys and equipment properly, reminding them in simple terms, cause

I keep the room neat to encourage the children to take care of their toys and other belongings. I label
each shelf with pictures of the item and the item name to assist the kids in recognizing items and learn
the new words, labeling also helps them remember where things go. Organization is key for my
classroom. All table top toys are stored near tables, pillows and stuffed animals are kept in the library
area to encourage quiet time. I make sure we have plenty of available wall space to hang up art
projects, all art, posters, pictures, eat are kept at the children eye level.
However, if I could make changes I would like to dedicate an area for science. I would love to include
a sand and water table, sensory bins, ect. I think a class pet would also be beneficial to students and
encourage responsibility at an early age!
In my opinion the menu is a crucial part of childrens ability to learn and play. I believe well rounded
meals and snacks provide focus and the energy needed to explore and absorb knowledge. Our menu
provides ample protein and a variety of fruits and vegetables which teaches healthy meal choices at an
early age. I like to use meal time to discuss colors and textures of different foods. Although I stand by
our menu, I would love to see more fresh produce offered instead of canned as canned foods typically
contain more sugar and artificial

How Did Walt Disney Impact The World
The year 1928 was pivotal for Walt Disney and the rest of society; Disney created the amicable and
animated Mickey Mouse which had both short and long term effects on Disney s career as well as
shaping his legacy. Before the rise of his famous cartoon mouse, Disney struggled to run a successful
company; conversely, he maintained a passion for film that led him to fame. He grew up on a farm
with strict parents that did not allow him to play with toys as a child. This is believed to be the source
for his avid imagination as an adult and the inspiration for his animal characters.
An abundance of Disney s accomplishments can be traced back to his original character. The initial

Carl Lewis Views On Track And Field
Carl Lewis said the trials on the road to world harmony are no greater than the courage of those who
accept the challenge . Track and field is a sport which includes athletics in running, jumping, and
throwing. The Smithsonian Museum has a lot of different artifacts, but it holds a very important track
jersey: Carl Lewis . Because of crushing records and maintaining determination, Carl Lewis made an
impact on history when he became one of the best track stars.
Carl worked hard everyday even through the rough time to have success in track and field. A little boy
he took a tape measure and put it in his backyard wondering how could a person jump so far (AAseng,
1985). Even though he just a kid athlete have to work hard everyday and use what they got. Since he
was eight he ran around playing with his family ( Carl Lewis, 2017). As a matter of fact he would
jump and play in sandpit (Jacobs, 2017). He spend long hour running in the yard and jumping around.
Although his parents both were track coaches they build their own track club (Jacobs, 2017). Also
they were Carl Lewis first coaches (Jacobs, 2017). Eventually this gave Carl Lewis lots of time to
practice running and jumping. At first Carl Lewis would always lose one day he when up to his dad
and said I am tired of losing (AAseng, 2017). His dad respond and say either work harder or quit
(AAseng, 2017). Although he was always getting frustrated he never give up and work will hard be to

The Environmental Factors And Causes Of Heart Failure
Introduction
Heart failure is a chronic disease that has been affecting individuals for centuries. According to
American Heart Association 2017, heart failure occurs when heart muscles is weakened and cannot
pump enough blood to meet the body s demanding need for blood and oxygen. Heart failure can be
hereditary. However if not hereditary, there are environmental factors that can contribute to heart
failure. Heart failure can be prevented and control. In this paper, I will discuss the causes of heart
failure. I will aso discuss how heart failure can be prevented. If heart failure is not prevented, I will
also discuss how to live with heart failure.
Living with heart failure can be a challenge. However when controlled, people can live normal healthy
lives with heart failure by modifying lifestyle changes. Heart failure can be seen like a balloon. A
balloon can be filled up with so much water and or air such as a heart. A heart can be filled with so
much blood and fluid. When a balloon continuously to get filled with air, it gets bigger and bigger
until it explodes. This causes water from the balloon to go everywhere. This is like the heart. When
too much fluid goes to the heart by unnecessary means, the heart gets bigger and bigger. The heart is
only able to carry a certain amount of fluid or oxygen. The heart distributes this fluid to other parts of
the body. When the heart gets too much fluid it explodes such as the balloon the heart enlarges and has

Shattered Superiority in the Face of Danger Essays
A superiority complex is an attitude of superiority that often conceals actual feelings of inferiority and
failure. The majority of people who suffer from a superiority complex feel inadequate somewhere
deep inside themselves and as a result, treat others as lesser. They consider themselves to be superior
to those surrounding them and are often condescending, quick to judge, and observant of the flaws of
others. Yet they somehow manage to always overlook their own imperfections. Both Connie, a
teenage girl with an inclination towards independence who is enamored with herself, and
Grandmother, a self proclaimed lady who is stuck in the past and has no qualms about manipulating
others in order to obtain what she desires, have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She [knows] she [is] pretty, and that [is] everything to her (Oates 337). Connie compares herself to
others and recognizes those around her as incredibly flawed. She is quick to judge people she comes
in contact with for their imperfections. For example, the first thought of Connie s sister that pops up
into her head is that she is plain and chunky and steady, and that was why Connie had to hear her
praised all of the time (Oates 337) Connie is hasty to point out her sister s vices, and does not even
consider that her sister might be praised because she is deserving of praise. Connie regards herself as
better than her sister, so she constructs an excuse as to why her sister receives praise rather than
Connie. It s ironic that Connie conceals her weaknesses from herself, yet this superiority complex is a
weakness in and of itself. Arnold Friend recognizes Connie s ravenous need to feel superior, and he
exploits this by feeding her a false sense of superiority by informing Connie that she s better than [her
family] because not one of them would have [sacrificed themselves] for [her] (Oates 353). Through
Grandmother s skewed definition of a good person, she deceives herself into trusting in the false
notion that she is above others. Due to the fact that she is a lady, a title that means everything to her,
Grandmother feels superior to those around her and considers herself to have moral authority and

within a radius of less than about 50 Kilometers by land or the distance of one day s sailing.
Merchants who specialized in local trade were exchanging low cost goods that customarily were self
produced. Linen, woven cloth, grains, and ceramics were commonly traded items on these routes.
Local trade was able to increase the stature of proletariats by providing wealth and materials to the
local population. Moreover, transactions made below ten days travel is the regional level. Regional
travel also involves professional traders, whereas local trade is still partly or mostly in the hands of the
local producers themselves. Comparable to local trade; Regional trade carried everyday constituintes

Social Media and Marketing
In today s day and age, many businesses have made use of social media to market their products and
brands. Although nearly all of these organizations share a common goal of gaining publicity, the
strategies they use to attain that goal varies on different and even on the same social media platforms.
In order to gain attention on Facebook, the most popular social media website, companies have to
utilize multiple approaches to maximize their yield from such marketing investments. On Facebook,
companies have set up third party applications to enable fans to participate in competitions to win
rewards. Snapchat, Google+, and Instagram have also been used by along with Facebook to encourage
the participation of customers in spreading the word about certain promotions. Moreover, community
service events and the allocation of beneficial intellectual ideas that can both help the world move
forward have also been made possible by social media websites such as Instagram and LinkedIn.
Third party applications on Facebook have facilitated the process through which companies have
gained awareness for their services. AirAsia, for example, is a low cost Malaysian airline that
launched a Facebook campaign to spread the word about their flights being launched to Australia. The
company offered their Facebook fans the opportunity to be flown to Kuala Lumpa with 302 other
Facebook friends (Taylor). This application became viral and enabled AirAsia to nearly double the

Vietnam Veterans Against The War Essay
Brief History The first American troops arrived in Danang, South Vietnam on 8th March, 1965. The
troops mission was to defend the American airfield from the Viet Cong insurgents. However, their
mission gradually extended to defensive patrolling and later on taking the offensive. As such, the
number of US troops swelled to 184,300 by the end of the year and by1969, the number of American
soldiers had swelled to 543,000. Correspondingly, opposition against the mission, which was
previously minimal, rose magnanimously. In April 1967, a crowd of over 100,00 people marched from
Central Park to the United Nations Buildings to ask for the withdrawal of American troops from
Vietnam. By this time, over 8,000 American troops had been lost in the war. Following the protests,
six Vietnam Veterans, among those who had returned home formed the organization Vietnam Veterans
Against the War (VVAW). They wanted the government to bring their brothers back home.
Authenticity of the VVAW The main arguments for the authenticity of the Vietnam Veterans Against
the War was the idea that it empowered the individual as a change agent in the sense that the veteran
soldiers spoke out to forewarn their fellow soldiers about the conditions of war. It also served to speak
out for the hundreds of soldiers who were still on the mission to protect the nation from the harm that
they had faced and to champion for the morality of the American soldier as idealized in their training.

Persuasive Essay On Sugar
Maybe you are one of those many people who do not smoke, do not drink alcohol, do not drink coffee
or take medication, but at certain times of the day you are tempted to eat anything that is sweet and
delicious. If this happens to you very often, you may be addicted to sugar. Many people realize that
they are addicted to sugar when at certain times of the day they realize that they have a craving for
something sweet and comforting that will give them some energy. As this increase in energy
diminishes in a short time, then they again want to eat something sweet until it becomes a vicious
circle.
As we live in a world that is full of sugary delights that come in striking packaging, they are more
tempting and harmless. Unfortunately, these sweets can be very addictive and although the sugar at the
beginning is not as harmful to your health as an illegal drug, over time it can cause great damage to
your body and your quality of life.
Reasons why you should stop consuming sugar
One of the most obvious reasons is that sugar is very caloric, but not full. That s why when we eat a
Krispy Kreme we do not feel completely satisfied and then we want to continue eating more sweet
things.
Sugar inhibits the immune system, so if you regularly eat sugary foods and sweet drinks throughout
the day, then your immune system does not work properly.
Sugar causes inflammation, causes pain and can lead to diabetes , develop cancer and heart disease.
Sugar can cause tooth decay.

What Was The Events That Justified The United States Entry...
Introduction
When World War 1 started in 1914, United States president Woodrow Wilson promised non
participation of his country. The conflict appeared typical of the rottenness of old Europe which
favored the neutrality position of majority of American citizens. However, a series of implacable
events dragged the United States into the war. This paper will discuss these events that justified the
United States entry into World War 1 while exploring the roles which public opinion should play when
making such decisions in comparison to expert policy makers opinions. In addition, other available
options that should have been put into consideration will be explored.

These incidents combined with dwindling diplomatic relations between Germany and the United
States increased anti German preconception in America.
Another factor that majorly influenced American public opinion was stories run by British press
regarding invasion of neutral Belgium by Germany. Allegations of small towns being eliminated and
innocent civilians being killed infuriated and shocked the Americans. Although some of these stories
were fabricated to serve as British propaganda, they served their purpose of instigating a strong anti
German sentiment.
The protection of its economic interests was also a major factor which influenced the decision for
America to participate in World War 1. American businessmen such as J.P. Morgan who were
interested in victory of the alliance funded French and British wars. These funds, roughly 3 billion US
Dollars were mainly in form of loans and bond purchases. This led to the fear that incase Central
Powers (Germany, Bulgaria, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire) emerged victorious, the Allies
(France, Britain and Italy) would be unable to repay these debts. As a measure to counter this risk,
these businessmen united to support a campaign movement; Preparedness Movement , which pushed
for America to intervene in the war and support the Allied forces.

History of the Perfect Number
The perfect number is a positive integer that is equal to the sum of its proper divisors. Earlier
definitions of a perfect number were aliquot parts of a number. An aliquot part means a proper
quotient of a number. According to Webster s dictionary, the term perfect number was first used in the
14th century. The discovery of such numbers was lost in prehistory. The smallest perfect number is
six. It is the sum of its divisors one, two, and three. Other perfect numbers are twenty eight, 128, and
496. In the paragraphs below I will talk about the history of the perfect number and Euclid s theorem
and the founder of the perfect number.
The first four perfect numbers were known to the ancients Greeks over 2,000 years ago. Some cultures
back then gave mystic interpretations to the numbers and thought they were magic. The first four
perfect numbers were six, twenty eight, 496, and 8,128. Of the two dozen perfect numbers now
known, all of them are even numbers. If there are any odd perfect numbers they are quite big, are well
over 300 digits long, and have multiple prime factors.
The ancient Christian scholar Augustine said, ‟That God could have created the world in an instant but
he chose to do it in a perfect number of six days. Many times the twenty eight day cycle of the moon
around the earth was given as an example of a Heavenly or a perfect event that naturally was a perfect
number. The number six is perfect in itself. Historians and discovers believe it is a perfect

Resourcing Talent (3RTO)
Activity 1 Word Count: 1272
Identify and assess at least 4 factors that affect an organization s approach to attracting talent.
Market Demand/Supply for Talent:
Depending on the nature of the business, organizations will require various sets of talents (skill,
knowledge and capabilities) that contribute towards the their growth and success. Markets in general
have high supply of some talents and low of others. Based on the talent requirement of the
organization and the market in which it operates, it will have to alter its approach towards attracting
the required talent. This may involve adjusting factors like remuneration, long short term benefits,
career prospects, trainings, etc.

In addition to being cost effective it can also provide incentive for the existing employees to perform
better in their current roles to get promoted quickly. This can have a positive impact on the overall
performance of the organization
Newspaper Ads:
This is a quick and easy way to notify the market about the available jobs in the company and attract a
large number of candidates. Newspaper ads are also less costly compared to using headhunters for
finding the right candidate.
Recruitment Fairs:
Recruitment fairs can be very cost and time efficient, particularly in to fulfill bulk recruitment needs
of the organization. This also gives companies the opportunity to connect with other potential talent
that might not be immediately required by the company, but, helps in building a great talent pipeline

Essay On Mexico City Gag Rule
Having information and access to family planning, abortion services, maternal and child health (such
as knowing what to do after giving birth) and/or preventing and treating diseases to anyone and
everyone should be essential because this type of aid can help with the rapid population growth. If
women were able to control when they wanted to give birth and how many children they wanted to
give birth to, that would be a game changer in trying to stop hurting the environment. For some time,
there was access to all that information, specifically in poorer countries and third world countries
because NGOs received funding from the government, corporations, foundations and even individual

The chromatids break at these points and rejoin so that the alleles from one chromatid join alleles on
another. An exchange of chromatids takes place between chromatids. Although sexual reproduction
produces variation it does not actually introduce new alleles. These are brought in by mutations. A
mutation is a change in the structure or amount of DNA in the amino acids sequence produced. A
mutation in a gamete will be inherited, whereas a mutation in other body cells will not be passed to
offspring. Gene mutation is an alteration in the base sequence of one or two base pairs by addition,
deletion or substitution. This occurs at a single gene locus on a chromosome altering the DNA
sequence of bases and the amino acid sequence being produced. The resulting protein shape may be
significantly altered and then does not function properly. This is important if the altered protein is an
enzyme which if changed, may no longer match the shape of its substrate, and therefore stop and
subsequent enzyme action. Some mutations are harmful, others may have no effect. Chromosome
mutations involve changes to either the number of chromosomes of to large sections of the actual
single chromosome. Thus meaning many genes are changed. Some mutations are harmful, however

Impact Of Overfishing On Marine Ecosystems And Human Culture
Introduction Overfishing occurs when fish are being caught faster than they can reproduce and replace
themselves (Lee and Safina, 1995, pg.5). It greatly affects biodiversity of marine ecosystems and
human culture.
Impacts of Overfishing Overfishing can impact marine ecosystems and communities that rely heavily
on marine mammals. Large reductions in population sizes of marketable fish species caught yearly
may significantly create economic stress within fishing communities, especially if they mainly rely on
fish for income or food, such as 3rd world countries. If marketable fish population numbers drop too
low fishermen and even whole communities may be forced to give up their way of life, which has
been passed down from generation to generation, and find jobs elsewhere (Fisheries and Oceans
Canada, 2009). Loss of income and jobs is caused from decreased population sizes, which lower
productive fish stocks, and results in business closures and lowered economic status (Lee and Safina,
1995). Food security is also affected by overfishing. Many coastal communities depend on fish as
their main food source. When consumable fish populations decrease the food supplies and food
availability also decrease, resulting in shortages to occur and fish becoming an unreliable source of
food (World Wildlife Fund, 2016). Overfishing significantly impacts biodiversity within ecosystems.
Marine life imbalance is produced when fishing of top predators disrupts communities within the

Boxing Is The Most Brutal Of Sports
Typically in sports the goal is to hit a homerun, score a goal, or even get a hole in one. However, there
is one sport that is not like any other, boxing. This sport is the most brutal of sports. The goal is to
knock out the opponent with devastating blows to the head. Boxing can be a very dangerous sport
resulting in extreme injury or death, and there is a lot of pressure to use illegal drugs in an effort to
win. Boxing also has many benefits, such as physical fitness, stress relieving, and allows an elite
professional boxer to earn a very good living. The earliest records of boxing occurred in the 2nd
millennium BC from Mesopotamian and Assyria nations (History of Boxing). Architects have found
carvings in ancient caves showing bare fisted contests with spectators (History of Boxing). Boxing
gained popularity and became an organized sport when accepted by the Greeks at the Olympic Games
in 688 BC (History of Boxing). Boxing continued to evolve from the 16th to 18th centuries in Great
Britain as a prize fighting game (History of Boxing). During this time, boxers fought with bare
knuckles and spiked shoes (History of Boxing). Early fighting had no written rules. There were no
weight divisions, or round limits, and no referee. The matches were extremely chaotic (History of
Boxing). Around 1867, the introduction of fair size gloves changed the nature of the bouts (History of
Boxing). Bouts became longer and more strategic with greater emphasis on strategy and

spotted on the mountain sides above the layers of fir, spruce and ponderosa trees.

ways to come back down the mountain; you can take the tram back down, you can hike down, I would

Graphic Imagery And Designs Evolve Until Production
The process towards architectural construction takes on many forms, including various design stages.
The graphic imagery and designs evolve until production begins. There are undoubtedly many
considerations into a building s design, which stresses their representation as even more important and
influential to its potential construction. Elevation drawings and plans lay out the details of
construction, they are useful to ensure the structure adheres to any local codes, however more detailed
drawings are required for construction known as final renderings.1 Drawings are therefore a
fundamental form of documentation that informs a building s production. On the other hand, the
emergence of archigram in the post war era encouraged the imagination and was a platform that
challenged previous form of representation. Archigram placed as much influence on the context of the
building and depicting its urban surrounding as much as emphasising the building itself. In addition,
architectural photography provoked the emergence of modern forms and structures; however,
contextualizing buildings within the image was unnecessary. It was believed that architecture could
reform people architecture is the art one lives in and thus rational design could make rational
societies.2 This idea was very much a driving force of representation which drawings, photography
and archigram intended to reform their urban landscape. Unlike detailed drawing which provided an
insight into the scale and

Gambling Addiction and Problem Gambling

typical age is 17 70 years old. In the United States the legal age to gamble is 21 in most casinos and in
some Indian casinos the legal age is 18. There are many ways to gamble there are casinos, online

Internet gambling is easy to get hooked on. There are advertisements for casinos at almost all of the
major search engines and home pages (ex: yahoo, metacrawler, excite etc.) Many of these
advertisements claim that they have free gambling or give away free money. For example one casino
will give you $125.00 for a $50.00 deposit. Do you think they would really give you that money if
they weren t confident that you would get hooked and spend it all there or if they thought that they
wouldn t get it all back? Once they have lured you to their websites it is easy for them to get your
money. It seems a lot easier to spend virtual casino tokens purchased with a credit card than it is to
spend your actual hard earned cash at a real casino. Another obvious problem with having online
casinos is that children have easy access to them. There is no way to check ID. Anyone with a credit
card number can play. Parents of children who gamble online are legally responsible for the debt that
their children accumulate. It is especially easy if the parents have already been to that particular casino
and set up an account. All the child would need is a password and many computer operating systems
have the option of saving passwords and filling them in for the user. Young people are especially
vulnerable to Internet gambling. In virtually all studies of the rates of gambling problems at various
ages, high school and college aged individuals show the highest problem rates, said

Is there someplace I can buy one? (5). This way of lying about who you are and or what you need,

Mitnick will use social engineering for much of his hacking career, but in this particular first instance

Are Democracies More Than Other Kinds Of Political...
Are democracies less likely to go to war than other kinds of political regimes?
Democracy is considered as a peaceful entity and the world without war. American president
Woodrow Wilson, for example, believes that democracy is inherently peace desiring and consequently
contributes to the world peace, replacing war like political regime (Gat, 2006). Democracy is a system
of government, consisted of four key elements. Firstly, it is a means of choosing the leaders of the
citizens and replacing the government, if they do not achieve their commitments, through free and fair
election. Secondly, people actively participate in the public and civic life in democracy. Democracy
depends on the participation of the citizens, and it must be peaceful, respectful of the law, and tolerant
of the different views of other groups and individuals. Thirdly, every individual has the certain rights,
which the state cannot take away from him or herself in democracy. In other words, the human rights
of all citizens is protected by the democracy. Finally, democracy is a system of rule by laws, not by
individuals, and the rule of law protects the rights of citizens, maintains order, and limits the power of
government. Every person is equal under the law (Barkawi and Laffey, 2001). Further, Democracy is
largely supported by liberal thinkers such as John Locke and Immanuel Kant, and liberalism is the
main theory, which supports democracy and identifies the crucial aspects of democracy.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adaptive Histogram...
2.1.6 Histogram Equalization
The luminance histogram of a exemplary natural scene that has been linearly quantized is commonly
highly skewed toward the darker levels; a majority of the pixels possess a luminance lower than the
average. In similar images, detail in the darker regions is often not visible. One means of enhancing
these types of images is a method called histogram modification, in which the original image is
rescaled so that the histogram of the intensified image follows some desired form [6]. This method
also assumes the detail carried by an image is related to the possibility of occurrence of each gray
level. To maximize the detail, the transformation should redistribute the possibilities of occurrence of
the gray level to make it identical. In this way, the contrast at every gray level is proportional to the
altitude of the image histogram [7]. Several modifications of histogram equalization are also available
which expansion its potential of contrast enhancement. Adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) [8]

Reasons for the Gap between Social Classes in America
USA is a very big country with a lot of people and the social classes are very important. We can see
that social class plays big part of people s life. Everyday people are working, studying, trying to be
better. Even though right now it s time when everyone has many opportunities in his life, anyway
there is a gap between classes and groups of people with same features. And your background
probably will build your future. And we need to find what kind of class we have right now and look
into these classes. The main idea is that Social Classes still exist and it s most general part of U.S.A
society. There are three reasons why gap between groups still exist. The first reason is that everyone
has different economic status. People divide by groups with same ideas, religion, economic status,
political views, and cultural features. For example in U.S.A we have poor people, very rich people,
and kind of middle people and we can t say that these families are same. People from each group have
different opportunities in education, medicine, and job. If you are from rich family you have more
chance to be succeed in this world, for you it will be much easier unlike someone from poor family.
The children from rich families will get best college or university degree, will find good job, and will
learn how to be rich from their parents. Money for now is very powerful tool in your hand, with
money we can go to our dreams. The statistic shows us that most of people while whole

Many Chinese athletes have been disqualified for illegal drug use. Similarly, a number of U.S athletes
have admitted to using these drugs. Steroids have been found in athletes engaged in a variety of sports,
including swimmers, golfers, baseball players, boxers, hockey players, and body builders (Burnsytn

Anabolic steroids have been proven to have serious adverse health effects. Researchers have linked
extensive use of these drugs to liver damage, coronary heart disease, and congestive heart failure.
Anabolic steroids cause testicular atrophy and breast enlargement in males and menstrual cycle
difficulties and body hair growth in women. In addition, athletes who use anabolic steroids may
exhibit aggressive behavior, mood swings, and explosive tempers (Etzen 64).
Besides the concern about safety, the doping controversy is centered on the issue of fair play.
Opponents argue that athletes who use performance enhancing substances have an unfair advantage.
Many athletes choose to train and compete with nothing more than hard work and determination. For
many of us, this is the way sport is meant to be. However, some athletes choose to gain an advantage
over others by using substances that are banned. These athletes do not consider what they are doing to

  • 2. Similarities Between Roger And Me By Emile Durkheim General Motors, booming and blooming, the largest corporation in the world took place in Flint, Michigan. For so long, GM was a major function of the community socially and economically. Suddenly, General Motors CEO Roger Smith took action, then terminated several plantations in Flint as well as thousands of jobs. For this reason, Michael Moore made it his mission to record the consequences of closing the GM plants in Flint. As well as his quest to talk to the GM chairman, Roger Smith, in the movie Roger and Me. In this essay, using Durkheim s perspective and Roger and Me, we will analyze how the division of labor can functionally shape a society within a certain period of time. Significantly, Emile Durkheim was one of the three major theoretical thinkers of sociology. In effect, the functionalism perspective derives from the analyses of Emile Durkheim. The functionalist perspective is molded by different parts working together. As an expert in studying the social phenomenon, Durkheim, in his book The Divisions of Labor in Society (1893), argued that a society alters from mechanical to organic as it becomes more complex. • 3. Presidents Of The Great Presidents Historian Arthur Schlesinger said the team Imperial Presidency is when a president uses more power than the Constitution allows, and were able to avoid the checks and balances of our constitutional system. In this paper, I am going to explore three presidents who many feel were imperial presidents. While doing the research I was surprised how many great presidents had people make a case that they were an imperial president. For example, I read many articles about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln running imperial presidency. Abraham Lincoln is widely considered one of our greatest presidents. The three presidents that I am going to focus my paper on are Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and George W. Bush. Lyndon Johnson took over as President when John F. Kennedy was assassinated on a hot Dallas day. Many feel that the government acted quickly after JFK was pronounced dead to move on actions that JFK was not going to do in his presidency. Johnson sent over 22,000 troops to the Dominican Republic in 1965 without the approval of congress (Schlesinge, 1973). Johnson also sent combat troops in Vietnam. People still have a bad taste in their mouth over the debacle in Vietnam. Vietnam ranks 4th among all wars in troop casualties and was a war that lead people to flee the country because they did not want to fight and did not believe the war was just. Congress required 48 hours notice when a president wants to send troops to another country and Lyndon Johnson did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Consequences Of Urbanization During The Progressive Era Many industries like the railroad, steel, and oil industries transformed American society in the early 20th century. The railroad industries was one of the most important since thanks to it, the costs of products decreased and the population increased because food was available in a large variety and quantity. Along with the increase of these industry, also came the rise of urbanization. This is called industrialized or the rize of many industries. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants. Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor. Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right to vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the homelife. While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class women had to work either on farms or in factories. Document B suggests that prohibiting women to vote is forcing them to work under hard conditions. The smaller wage and harder conditions imposed on the women worker are due to the lack of ... • 5. Raising The Bar Analysis So Jon Taffer, the guy who does the show Bar Rescue, wrote an extremely insightful book into what he thinks makes a successful bar and it s titled Raising the Bar I picked it up a couple years ago but I decided to read it again and the very first chapter is titled You Sell One Thing: Reactions So in this chapter, Jon goes on and talkes a lot about how the number one thing that business owners fail to realize is that it s not enough to just have a business that s running, rather you need to have a business that leaves a good and positive impression on people to truly succeed. Here s a paragraph from it that I really enjoy: Think about this: Two people get dressed in the morning. One person throws on whatever clothes are available; the other takes the time to select an outfit and make sure it s clean, pressed, and put together. WHo makes the better impression? The carefully dressed person is thought of as calmer, more powerful, smarter, and more thoughtful than the sloppy one. In an experiment to test perceptions and appearance, teaching assistants who wore formal clothes were perceived as more intelligent than those who dressed more casually. A Harvard study found that women who wore makeup were considered more competent and likable than their barefaced counterparts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McMurty mentions, the summer of 1875, Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer revealed the presence of gold in the Black Hills in front of the whole nation, which made the government regret their agreement of giving the Black Hills and other lands to the Sioux. The whites from the peace party and many other parties, didn t like it, and said that the government at least try to honor the agreement, especially, which was announced publicly in 1868. After some point Custer realized that the Indians weren t running away, in fact, they intend to kill him. Although, Custer knew that he had entered the valley of death, but he kept fighting, but he enjoyed himself till his last breathe. For Custer s men s were so exhausted after that long journey they were barely in the position to stand, they had only tiredness, horror, and death. As for Maj. Reno he could have charged the Indians, which could have resulted in disarray, but he didn t. Hence, Indians chased him to the Little Big Horn where he hardly survived. The entry of Crazy Horse is still not confirmed, some say he seized Custer on the high ground, but it was Gall, the Hunkpapa warrior, and his men were successful in turning Reno back and harassed Custer so badly that the 7Th Cavalry; the soldiers, never create any position. Gall lost two of his wife and three of his children, he got out his anger and grief by killing Custer. As such, the number of US troops swelled to 184,300 by the end of the year and by1969, the number of American soldiers had swelled to 543,000. Correspondingly, opposition against the mission, which was previously minimal, rose magnanimously. In April 1967, a crowd of over 100,00 people marched from Central Park to the United Nations Buildings to ask for the withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam. By this time, over 8,000 American troops had been lost in the war. Following the protests, six Vietnam Veterans, among those who had returned home formed the organization Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). They wanted the government to bring their brothers back home. Authenticity of the VVAW The main arguments for the authenticity of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War was the idea that it empowered the individual as a change agent in the sense that the veteran soldiers spoke out to forewarn their fellow soldiers about the conditions of war. It also served to speak out for the hundreds of soldiers who were still on the mission to protect the nation from the harm that they had faced and to champion for the morality of the American soldier as idealized in their training. • 26. Impact Of Overfishing On Marine Ecosystems And Human Culture Introduction Overfishing occurs when fish are being caught faster than they can reproduce and replace themselves (Lee and Safina, 1995, pg.5). It greatly affects biodiversity of marine ecosystems and human culture. Impacts of Overfishing Overfishing can impact marine ecosystems and communities that rely heavily on marine mammals. Large reductions in population sizes of marketable fish species caught yearly may significantly create economic stress within fishing communities, especially if they mainly rely on fish for income or food, such as 3rd world countries. If marketable fish population numbers drop too low fishermen and even whole communities may be forced to give up their way of life, which has been passed down from generation to generation, and find jobs elsewhere (Fisheries and Oceans Canada, 2009). Loss of income and jobs is caused from decreased population sizes, which lower productive fish stocks, and results in business closures and lowered economic status (Lee and Safina, 1995). Food security is also affected by overfishing. Many coastal communities depend on fish as their main food source. When consumable fish populations decrease the food supplies and food availability also decrease, resulting in shortages to occur and fish becoming an unreliable source of food (World Wildlife Fund, 2016). Home to the Wallowa Lake; 2.5 miles long and actually formed by glaciers, the evidence is a border climbing 900 feet above the surface of the water made of loose glacier debris, called moraines. Residual snow from the previous winter and telltale signs of avalanches can be spotted on the mountain sides above the layers of fir, spruce and ponderosa trees. While at the peak of the Mountain, you are free to wonder the trails or dine at the Summit Grill overlooking the spectacular view ahead of you. There are three ways to come back down the mountain; you can take the tram back down, you can hike down, I would recommend the third option, paragliding. One of the highlights of my experience in the Wallowas, was being harnessed to the parachute along with the guide. We hiked to his launch site, he gave me clear instructions to walk towards to edge of the mountain then start to run and before I could think twice my feet were off the ground. Increasing altitude by catching a thermal wind, a change in the direction of wind due to changes in temperature, he called it the most natural form of flying that a person can experience. The graphic imagery and designs evolve until production begins. There are undoubtedly many considerations into a building s design, which stresses their representation as even more important and influential to its potential construction. Elevation drawings and plans lay out the details of construction, they are useful to ensure the structure adheres to any local codes, however more detailed drawings are required for construction known as final renderings.1 Drawings are therefore a fundamental form of documentation that informs a building s production. On the other hand, the emergence of archigram in the post war era encouraged the imagination and was a platform that challenged previous form of representation. Archigram placed as much influence on the context of the building and depicting its urban surrounding as much as emphasising the building itself. In addition, architectural photography provoked the emergence of modern forms and structures; however, contextualizing buildings within the image was unnecessary. It was believed that architecture could reform people architecture is the art one lives in and thus rational design could make rational societies.2 This idea was very much a driving force of representation which drawings, photography and archigram intended to reform their urban landscape. • 36. Are Democracies More Than Other Kinds Of Political... Are democracies less likely to go to war than other kinds of political regimes? Democracy is considered as a peaceful entity and the world without war. American president Woodrow Wilson, for example, believes that democracy is inherently peace desiring and consequently contributes to the world peace, replacing war like political regime (Gat, 2006). Democracy is a system of government, consisted of four key elements. Firstly, it is a means of choosing the leaders of the citizens and replacing the government, if they do not achieve their commitments, through free and fair election. Secondly, people actively participate in the public and civic life in democracy. Democracy depends on the participation of the citizens, and it must be peaceful, respectful of the law, and tolerant of the different views of other groups and individuals. Thirdly, every individual has the certain rights, which the state cannot take away from him or herself in democracy. In other words, the human rights of all citizens is protected by the democracy. Finally, democracy is a system of rule by laws, not by individuals, and the rule of law protects the rights of citizens, maintains order, and limits the power of government. Every person is equal under the law (Barkawi and Laffey, 2001). Further, Democracy is largely supported by liberal thinkers such as John Locke and Immanuel Kant, and liberalism is the main theory, which supports democracy and identifies the crucial aspects of democracy. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adaptive Histogram... 2.1.6 Histogram Equalization The luminance histogram of a exemplary natural scene that has been linearly quantized is commonly highly skewed toward the darker levels; a majority of the pixels possess a luminance lower than the average. In similar images, detail in the darker regions is often not visible. One means of enhancing these types of images is a method called histogram modification, in which the original image is rescaled so that the histogram of the intensified image follows some desired form [6]. This method also assumes the detail carried by an image is related to the possibility of occurrence of each gray level. To maximize the detail, the transformation should redistribute the possibilities of occurrence of the gray level to make it identical. In this way, the contrast at every gray level is proportional to the altitude of the image histogram [7]. Several modifications of histogram equalization are also available which expansion its potential of contrast enhancement.
