kamehameha the third Essay examples
Kauikeaouli was born on August 11, 1813 on the Big Island of Hawaii. He became king at age 11
when his older brother Liholiho died, who ruled as Kamehameha II. For 14 years of his reign
Kauikeaouli was guided by Kaahumanu and Kinau. At age 25, he took on the responsibilities of
kingship by himself as Kamehameha III. (The Reign of Kamehameha III Website) Kauikeaouli s reign
of thirty years was filled with change and accomplishment. Kamehameha III s reign would be a
desirable time to live in because of the small population, religious freedom, and the equality for all
Hawaiians.
One of the biggest changes was the decrease in population of the native Hawaiians. When Kauikeaouli

The small pox epidemic lasted for six months, and ended in the month of October. Ten thousand of the
Hawaiian population are said to have died of the small pox disease. (Kamakau)
The religious situation in Hawaii had changed as well. In 1839, Kamehameha III guaranteed religious
freedom to the people of Hawaii. (The World of Royalty Website) Protestantism was no longer a state
religion and it was also no longer strictly an American religion. Catholics and Mormons had finally
established churches, and the
Hawaiian churches came into its own form. The Hawaiian church had broken away from the American
ministry and customs, and formed its own Native ministry. (Mrantz) Along with guaranteeing
religious freedom, King Kamehameha III was responsible for transforming the kingdom into a modern
constitutional monarchy. For the first time in their history, Hawaii s people were represented in their
own government. Their constitution allowed them a House of Representatives and the right to elect
their representatives. With all these changes, France, Great Britain and the United States had finally
recognized Hawaii as an independent nation. (The World of Royalty Website)
Kamehameha III made all men free and equal. There were no more slaves and no Hawaiian was born

Food Waste In Canada
A growing issue about food waste is at hand in Canada, and citizens should seek methods in order to
reduce this. Personally I think people are blindfolded as to how much they are contributing to this
matter and the future consequences they may face. At the rate this issue is escalating it is affecting the
planet adversely, therefore efforts should be made by each individual. To reduce food waste, it is
necessary to be organized which could be done so by preserving, shopping better and visibility.
By preserving food into canisters not only is it kept organized but the amount of food being wasted
will subside. Typically during occasions there tends to be an extra amount of food arranged which is
trashed out in the following days to come. Instead

War Begins When Opinions Differ
When opinions differ, wars begin. When war begins, blood usually sheds; this is not the case for the
Cold War. From 1945 until 1991, the United States and the Soviet Union were in a rivalry; a constant
state of hostility towards one another. Although the U.S. and the Soviet Union never directly engaged
in military action, there was a lot going on behind both sides of the Iron Curtain. The Cold War was
never a battle itself; however, it was made up of both minor and major battles within, to include the
Korean War, Vietnam War and the War in Afghanistan. The Cold War presented a revolutionary arms
race from which powerful defense organizations with permanent foundations raised sky high on both
sides of the world. Instead of fighting on an actual battleground, the U.S. and the Soviet Union
competed through political and economic ideologies and developments within their countries
(Pierpaoli, 2010).
Throughout the ending of World War II, it was made obvious the Communist controlled East and
Capitalist West needed their intelligence organizations overhauled and prepared for an actual physical
war. To have knowledge of what an opponent is capable of developing makes it easier to counteract
and outperform them. To obtain intelligence is to have an advanced knowledge, which is why
intelligence collection was revolutionized during the Cold War. Throughout the Cold War, the United
States most successful intelligence came from satellites. Signal intelligence was probably the most

Vladimir Lenin As A Hero
Heroes come in many shapes and sizes, throughout time many of them have risen and fallen. A hero is
characterized as someone that is a leader to his people, they reflect societal views, and yet they have a
major flaw that often causes their downfall. During the 20th century a revolutionary man rose from his
years of exile to lead the Bolshevik party into power, his name, Vladimir Lenin. Lenin stands as a
prime example of a leader that reflects Russia s social values, and as a flaw for his outspoken nature
suffers from a near death assassination. Vladimir Lenin, like Achilles, looked for ways that benefited
him in order to gain power, he was an aggressive man that had a certain set of beliefs that led to
become a Marxist. Lenin enrolled in the Kazan University, only to be expelled within his first term for
participating in a student demonstration. During his time from his studies, Lenin immersed himself in
revolutionary politics, taking a large interest in Karl Marx s writings, this later played a large influence
during his time of power. Lenin in many cases is similar to Achilles, a fictional warrior from the Iliad.
In book 22, Priam compares Achilles to Orion s dog, to Greeks this is a bad omen. Priam then turns to
his son, who stands outside the gates of Troy, and tells him this, He is more powerful by far than you,
and pitiless (143, bk 22, lines 47 48). Priam knows that Hector has no chance of winning against
Achilles, for he is out to get revenge on the death of his

Root Cause Analysis In Healthcare Organization
A root cause analysis (RCA), an organized protocol or procedure, institutes a means of analyzing a
sentinel or adverse event that occurs within a healthcare facility, ultimately uncovering causes of
problems or errors. U.S. hospitals are required to keep confidential records within the facility of
adverse reactions, yet RCAs are mandated to accompany a reported sentinel event to the accreditation
organization, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other
organizations (AHRQ 2014). Various members from all aspects of the hospital form a
multidisciplinary team to analyze, evaluate, and resolve errors with the goal of prevention of future
adverse, sentinel events. A RCA allows for concentration on events and underlying problems that
contributed to the incident rather than focusing on individual actions and behaviors (AHRQ 2012).

Conducting Research Process
The first step in conducting research is identifying a problem. It is important in this step to choose a
problem that you are interested in and could provide a creative solution to. Also, choose a problem
that has relevance. Do not choose a problem that is random or too difficult to find a solution to. The
second step in conducting research is reviewing the literature. In this step, you are reading all of the
papers, and reviewing all of the similar research that relates to the problem you identified in the first
step. This step will relate the relevance of your research to previous and future research by others.
This step will also educate you about what research has been conducted about your problem, how the
research was completed, and what conclusion was drawn from the previous research. The third step of
research is clarifying the problem. In this step, you take the identified problem from step one and
narrow it down into a smaller issue. The goal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth step of research is to clearly define terms and concepts in the context of your research. In
this step, you are defining the words and processes as they relate to your research and the completion
of your research. This step is important because other researchers and readers need to be able to read
and understand your work. Furthermore, these terms and concepts need to be defined as how they
relate to your study. Different words have different meanings based on the situation. The fifth step is
defining the population. In this step, you reveal who is participating or who is the focus of your
research. The population could be a group or an individual and can vary in age, race, location, and
education. You can use the problem you chose and the purpose of your research in order to choose a
group. This step in research is important because it makes your research process more manageable,
and keeps you on track while conducting

First They Killed My Father Summary
Narratives are essential to formulate a picture and set the backdrop of events that occur around the
world. These narratives can lead to an abundance of events, but more likely than not narratives can
lead to violence. Through my interpretation of First They Killed My Father, I will set the stage for the
events that transpired in Cambodia. By presenting the history of Cambodia, I will be able to explain
how people have been able to cope with the atrocities that their countries committed against them and
their families while connecting it to the Jim Crow era in the US, demonstrating how we too,
unwittingly, let narratives influence our actions.
The narratives of the events that transpired in Cambodia help outsiders understand why many would
partake in atrocious acts of genocide as well as explain why people decided to kill their fellow

Pol Pot set ablaze a narrative that would result in the death of millions of Cambodians (Warren, April

had to prove that their life was worth keeping alive by dedicating every waking hour to helping the
Khmer Rouge successfully defeat the outsiders (Ung, p. 165). Pol Pot also wanted to purify the
country that was infiltrated by many not deemed true Cambodians. This included many minority
groups of Chinese and Vietnamese (Youns) who were considered racially corrupt and were
systematically banished out of the country or killed (Ung, p. 62). The narrative was that Pol Pot was a

Negative Leadership and Youth Sports Essay
There are leaders in every situation and facet of life, leaders are everywhere around us, both in the
business world and out in the community. Leaders can be Supervisors, Managers, Pastors, Teachers, or
any person in any situation where they are trying to get a group of people to accomplish a specific
goal. As stated by Don Clark Good leaders are made not born (Clark 2010), leaders are developed by
experience, training, education, and by watching and learning from other leaders. Our children are
learning how to be leaders everyday. They learn at school from their teachers and after school, they
learn from their friends and parents. One of the most impactful leaders of children in every community
is a youth sports coach. In 2006 it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poor coaching style has a significant impact on how a child views leadership, and impacts how
they develop as a leader. The biggest problem we face in youth sports is an emphasis on winning at all
cost. Success is the only option and failure is unacceptable.
In the words of Ricky Bobby, If you ain t first your last (Talladega Nights, 2006), is a very common
theme for most youth sports teams. In 2010 a local Cherry Creek Youth Sports football team in the 11
year old division finished the season with a tough loss in the championship game. This loss was the
first loss in 3 years and the first time this team ended the season without a championship trophy. This
loss was tough to swallow, but it was also a time to celebrate the end of a great streak. It was the time
for the coach and parents to rally around the kids and celebrate the season. Going 10 1 is a great feat,
unless you are playing youth sports. Watching the coach verbally blame the kids and then ignore the
players is sadly not uncommon. It was the kid s fault they lost, it was a complete lack of effort and it
was a waste of a season. In the weeks that followed the loss, the coach contacted several of the players
and informed them that they will not be welcomed back to the team because the coach needed more
talented players to compete and to win. Not once did the coach stop and think about the impact to the
kids and the parents that were asked back to the

Descartes s Meditations On First Philosophy
We Think, Therefore We Are Throughout history man has always wanted to understand themselves,
and to understand others. Humans have this innate wondering, this curiosity, as to what makes us who
we are. What is it inside of us that allows us to exist? Sometimes the answer is as simple as looking
inwards, or as René Descartes would call it, meditation. These meditations are moments of reflection,
time spent with one s thoughts, and time to figure out where one is placed within the world. During
one of these meditations, Descartes creates the phrase, cogito ergo sum , I think, therefore I am, in his
monumental book, Principles of Philosophy, though it was written in another form earlier, ego sum,
ego existo , I am, I exist, in his book Meditations on First Philosophy. This phrase, put so eloquently,
means that because Descartes is able to think, because he is able to ponder his own existence, he
therefore, exists. Descartes is correct in saying that his self exists because he can think, and ponder his
existence. Descartes use of, cogito ergo sum addresses the issue of doubt in the world, and how to deal
with our own existence because of this. We, as humans, have an underlying desire to understand
reality, and to know what is, and what isn t. For example, dreams can be perceived as being reality, as
they carry all the necessary attributes for living. Inside of a dream we walk, we can eat, we can have
different sensations, though, once awake it is obvious that none

The Medical Field, Dentistry And School Nursing

While they are both a part of the medical field, dentists and school nurses are very different, including
the requirements for entering the field, job responsibilities, and work environments. To become a

have good leadership qualities when dealing with other people in their offices. A large knowledge base
is necessary for being prepared for many different situations that can occur (Careers 172). The ability
to be calm in emergency situations is vital when working with children, whether as a dentist or school

The International Council of Nurses states that the function of nursing is fourfold to promote health,
prevent illness, restore health, and alleviate suffering ( Nursing ).They attend to students and teachers
injuries, along with anyone else on campus who may get hurt ( Nursing 816). School nurses also
attend meetings with other educators. They give presentations and teach students and educators the

any culture or tradition. Seeing how the dancers and the powwow itself have adapted to contemporary
times while also holding on to the essentials of their traditions was so fascinating to see

Descriptive And Rhythmic Components Of Speech Across...
Suprasegmental variables are the melodic and rhythmic components of speech across segmental
boundaries, also called prosody. They can affect intelligibility as well as imply additional meaning.
The main variables are intonation, stress, and rhythm. These deal with pitch, prominence, and length
across a phrase, respectively, although each of these variables have significant interconnections.
Intonation is the suprasegmental factor that can greatly affect the meaning of a phrase. An intonation
pattern is a measure of how pitch varies across a phrase. Specific patterns, like rising pitch at the end
of a phrase, can imply a question and other patterns can imply other meanings. Intonation can also
inform the listener as to when the speaker is finished talking by raising or lowering pitch at the end of
a phrase. Monopitch, or lack of intonation, produces a reduction in intelligibility. When studying pitch
related to speech a conversion from frequency to semitones is often calculated because this gives an
equalized representation across male/female speakers. Stress can be found within words and within
sentences. Stress is a change in the force or effort given to a word. This can be seen in fundamental
frequency, intensity, duration, or any combination of these factors at once. Stress changes the
prominence of certain words in a phrase, as well as possibly changing the meaning of a word. Through
changing the prominence of certain words stress has an effect on intonation patterns.

The Maternal Mortality Rate Of Afghanistan Essay
Goal 5
The fifth goal is to increase maternal health in countries with a focus on reducing the maternal
mortality rate by three fourths and universal access to reproductive health both by 2015. Despite a
43% reduction in maternal deaths since 1990, there are still a large number of women who die during
childbirth from preventable causes such as hemorrhaging (United Nations, 2015, p. 38).
In 2002 Afghanistan reported a baseline figure of 1,600 deaths per 100,000 with a 2015 targeted
reduction to 315 (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, 2013, p. 53). While Afghanistan was able to reach
the original goal it had set for itself, new goals were created to combat the continuous high number of
maternal deaths. Afghanistan has identified general lack of family planning, a limited supply of
qualified midwives, and limited access to health care in general as contributing factors towards such
high maternal death rates. The state has been working with UNICEF, WHO, and other international
partners to implement its National Reproductive health strategy to help combat the conditions in
which Afghanistan mothers find themselves.
Goal 6
The sixth goal is to combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases, focusing on reversing their spread and
providing universal access to treatment. We have seen progress made in most countries towards
achieving this goal, with the statistics falling every day, however, we are far from the finish line as a
little over 2 million people still contract AIDS/HIV.

Ivf Treatment And Its Effects Essay
In Vitro Fertilization, more commonly known as IVF treatment is the process of combining a woman s
eggs and a man s sperm in a dish where the healthiest embryo, or multiple, are then implanted in the
woman s uterus. IVF is an extensively discussed topic through separate countries and the laws and
restrictions behind it. It is a process which allows couples having trouble with infertility, and a number
of other social pairings, to be able to conceive children. But one of the biggest issues behind IVF and
what prevents it from being legal in some countries is the ethics behind it and whether or not it could
have an impact on the baby being conceived, or its parents. Although IVF treatment is legal in New
Zealand and has been since 1978 there is still a lot of controversy on the topic about the quality of life
of those involved. Although IVF treatment allows those who cannot conceive a child naturally to still
be able to have children there are still many risks behind it as with any scientific procedure. Some
research points to IVF treatment causing an increase in birth defects such as autism, intrauterine
growth retardation and mental retardation. Pregnancies caused by IVF have also shown a higher rate
of miscarriages and premature labour. As well as the risks to the foetus, the parents are also at certain
risks. The hormonal drugs the female is required to take to undergo the IVF process can have an effect
on her in her life such as hot flushes, headaches and nausea. However,

Rube Goldberg Machine Contest Essay
The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC) is named after the late cartoonist Reuben Lucius
Goldberg. Having died in 1970, he lives on in the GMC as puzzling machines with crazy mechanisms
are built in the spirit of his illustrations.
For 55 years the award winning engineer turned cartoonist drew machines and contraptions that
satirized the new machines and gadgets being built. His drawings, using simple gadgets and household
items already in use, were incredibly complex and wacky but had an ingenious, logical progression to
them. Goldberg s inventions became so widely known that Webster Dictionary added the term Rube
Goldberg to its listings, defining it as accomplishing by extremely complex, roundabout means what
seemingly could be done simply. In the words of the inventor, the machines were a symbol of man s
capacity for exerting maximum effort to achieve minimal results. He believed that most people
preferred doing things the hard way than using a more simple and direct path to accomplish a goal.

Dynamic Pricing
Dynamic pricing is essentially the fluctuation of pricing based on various factors, this includes
demand, number of customers, and popularity. When I think of dynamic pricing, I instantly think of
concert tickets. There is a continuously high demand for concert tickets, especially for more shows by
more popular artists. The pricing of tickets for any event constantly changes up until the last possible
second. One representation of this was a Twenty One Pilots concert I attended last year. The original
price of the ticket, when I purchased mine, was around thirty five dollars; however, throughout the
next couple of months the tickets ranged from sixty to around one hundred and fifteen dollars. The
cause of this was two reasons. One, the concert

Mr.Laffoon
On January 1, 1923, In a very small black neighborhood called Rosewood. A rumor started that Fannie
Taylor, a white female, had been sexually harassed by a black man in her house. She claimed that a
black man had gotten into her house and assaulted her, but she had no obvious injuries other than her
word that she was unconscious for a long time.
A group of KKK members, believed that this rapist was an escaped inmate named Jesse Hunter who
was hiding in Rosewood, and they wanted to kidnap and kill him. Before this happened many
problems had started aggression within Rosewood. The next day the the clan firebombed the home
before gathered with 200 men from towns around the area who had found out that a negro man had
killed two caucasian men. As the moon came out the clan attacked the town, killing animals and
burning houses and places of business. A completed report claims six negroes were killed along with
two whites men. Other rumors suggest a bigger amount. At the end of the massacre only two buildings
were still up, a house and a store. Many of the African American people of Rosewood ditched to the

Compare And Contrast The Colonial Perspectives Of The...
Similar to the way that the colonial and British perspectives greatly varied for the Boston Massacre,
their opinions are once again vastly different for the Battles of Lexington and Concord. In this event
as well, both parties attempt to place the blame on the other which is not unusual due the nature of the
sources. However, this highlights the large amount of bias evident in all of the accounts. For the
colonial perspective, there are two statements, each from a member of a colonial militia that fought
during the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Both of these sources place the blame on the British
soldiers and claim that the British fired first, killing several colonists. One account, from the Battle of
North Bridge, claims that the colonists were ordered to hold their fire and that they didn t fire until the
British opened fire upon them. The other account, from soldier who fought during the skirmish at the
Lexington Green, states that the colonists did not even get a single shot off, at least not before the
soldier whose account this is was wounded. This source also claims that the British commanding
officers were yelling at and insulting the colonists as their ranks closed on the milita. Both these
sources are very similar to the colonial perspectives of the Boston Massacre because they all place the
blame on the British soldiers and attempt to make themselves appear as the victims.
The colonial perspectives sharply contrast the four British perspectives that were

Pulsing Target Gene Induction
Some signal transduction systems produce multiple pulses of target gene expression in succession
when exposed to a constant level of stimulus (Levine et al., 2013) (Fig. 1.1B). Although pulsing is
similar to transcriptional bursting in that target gene expression levels increase and decrease
repetitively, pulsing is regulated by genetic circuits that activate and deactivate pathway output
regulators with a defined frequency and amplitude instead of relying on stochastic gene expression
(Levine et al., 2013; Raj and van Oudenaarden, 2008). Pulsing can be beneficial during signal
transduction by allowing cells to respond in ways that would be difficult to achieve with a simpler
response (Levine et al., 2013).

In response to γ irradiation mediated DNA damage, ATM kinase activates the tumor suppressor
protein, p53, via phosphorylation. Once activated, p53 initiates two negative feedback loops. The first
negative feedback loop is caused by p53 activating the expression of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Mdm2,
allowing Mdm2 to target p53 for degradation. The second negative feedback loop is the result of p53
activating the expression of the phosphatase Wip1, which dephosphorylates p53 and therefore reduces
its stability. Wip1 also targets ATM kinase, which requires phosphorylation in order to be in the active
state. Therefore, the increased activity of Wip1 silences ATM kinase, which prevents the activation of
p53. If DNA damage persists in the cell, ATM kinase activates p53 once more after Wip1 expression
levels have subsided. Pulsing of p53 activity results in cell cycle arrest and DNA repair, and continues
until DNA damage has been completely repaired.

The Rise Of College Tuitions
The sudden rise of college tuitions began right after the recession in 2008. Many people lost their jobs,
and their current jobs were not paying well enough for them to survive through this devastating time.
More people turned to higher education and college tuition began to rise because obtaining college
majors will guarantee a higher pay other than minimum wage. This downturn didn t end here because
over the years, tuition rose even higher. In 2014, the debt for college students reached to 1.2 trillion
dollars, that is an eighty four percent major increase since the recession. It is very difficult for every
individual to repay their entire college tuition on time because their job may be underpaid. If you
begin to miss your monthly payments, there will be several consequences right ahead of you. Coming
from a 2013 study, published in Anxiety, Coping and Stress stated, Those with greater financial strain
perceived more stress, had more symptoms of depression, anxiety, and ill health. There are many
existing highly stressful situations that cause college students to drop out. Students that depend on
themselves, with no help from their families are more likely to drop out due to financial issues. A
survey conducted by Public Agenda reported by New York Times reveals that students who are
receiving financial help from their families have sixty three percent graduation rate, exceeding the
forty two percent of those who graduate and pay for college on their own. This proves

There are many things about the moon now I will tell you about some of the physical properties such
as the moon is 384,400 k or 238,000 miles from earth. It is so far in fact it would take a whole 2
seconds for a radio signal to get to the moon and back. And talking about distance the moon is 2162
miles long. Which is 1/4 the size of earth. It s density is 3340 kg/m. While still less dense than the
earth and being much smaller it s gravity which is only 1/6 as strong as earths still has an effect on our

The tides happen because the moons gravity which pull on the earth. This causes effects on the earth
such as when the moon is higher the oceans raise higher. Where the earth is closest to the moon and on
the opposite side of the earth. When the earth rotates the position in which the ocean rises. In a whole
24 hours you would see 2 rises and falls of the ocean in total.(ScienceKids.com)
I ll now talk about how the moon was formed. Scientist say that it was formed at least 4.5 billion years
ago. At least 30 or 50 after the solar system was formed. It was presumed to be formed after proto
earth and another planetoid crashed into each other. At first the moon had spun extremely fast. But
eventually slowed enough to match the orbital rate. It it was eventually in line with earth. This is the
reason we only ever see one side of the moon.(SServ.nasa.gov)

Descriptive Essay On Canada Day
I think they call it Canada Day. A holiday in the middle of summer not unlike Independence Day in
the United States. On this occasion, I happened to be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British
Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for Yellow Head .
The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not so long ago gold rush days. Fewer than
a thousand residents hid in the forests and canyons of this small settlement that clung to the western
edge of the Canadian Rockies. My friends Chuck Gail had settled here just the year before, buying an
old homestead that included one hundred and sixty acres of fields and woodlands at the foot of Mica
Mountain. Now from the mountain, flowed a creed of the same name, the actual disposition of, was
sometimes that of a well healed river in spring, often a mere trickle in summer. On this hot Sunday in
July however, new friends and families were arriving at Chuck Gail s every moment. A holiday picnic
had been planned in front of the farmhouse. Tables had been set up; barbecue pits ignited, croquet
mallets waited. Howard the Monk arrived early, bringing with him a pot of still warm baked beans.
Howard the Monk, was a man whose true vocation was still under a fair amount of speculation.
Rumors had him placed in the States during the Vietnam conflict. He wore a long traditional brown
robe with a thick braided rope tied at his waist. He had a great image in the wintertime. As I

Kurtz Racist Quotes
One of the most reoccuring themes in the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, is the theme of
race, more specifically, racism by the European and American characters towards the African
characters. Critics of the book condemn Conrad as being racist, while others claim that it is just
representative of the time period and that how Conrad depicted certain characters and groups within
the novel was not uncommon during the time period that the book was written. Published in 1899, at
that time it was not unusual for white people to have racist views towards people of other races.

supernatural beings we approach them with the might of a deity, (Part 2) Here, Kurtz is saying how
ever since the white people arrived in Africa, it is important that they appeared and continue to appear
to the Africans as supernatural and godlike . When Kurtz makes this comment he is exemplifying just
how much he believes he and white people are above the Africans because he thinks this is how the
Africans actually view white people. This shows that he truly believes the African men are nowhere
near the same level that the white people are. He goes as far to say that the Africans should view white
people as supernatural and with the might of a god , which are both clearly not statements that are

Importance Of Music In My Life
Music has always been a big part of my life. I remember the radio or record player always playing
music at home growing up. I sang in the choir at church and school. I also played the trumpet all
through middle school, I was even first chair in eighth grade. Once I was in high school, attending
concerts became a regular outing for me and my friends. I have continued to keep music in my life to
this day.
The first period of my life represented is early childhood. I honestly could not think of one song I may
have loved between ages 0 to 4. Any music that I would have listened to would have been what my
parents liked at the time. I decided to look up hit songs for the year I was 4 years old. Looking through
the list I remembered that I loved Chicago s song Saturday in the Park . Every summer we traveled to
Maine growing up to visit my Grandma, and this song was my favorite. I specifically remember
playing in the garage and listening to this song over and over again. Every time I hear this song I think
of Summer and all the fun I had growing up. It was released in 1972, but was still popular when I was
in this time period. I still love it.
The second period of my life represented is elementary school. I loved Bonnie Tyler s Total Eclipse of
the Heart . These were the days of listening to the top forty with Casey Kasem on Saturday morning
and taping songs you liked. I had to tape this song so I could listen to it over and over. I loved her deep

Holistic And Holistic Nursing Care Essay
Holistic Nursing Care Norma Valdez Rosa South University Online Complementary Alternative
Methods Introduction Holistic nursing is defined as all nursing practice that has healing the whole
person as its goal (Dossey, 2012). Holistic nursing does not replace medicinal practice; rather, it
incorporates the whole patient into the nursing care plan with the outcome being that of a healthier
patient. Holistic Nurse Self Care is the most important core value of the Holistic Nursing Care
standards because of the importance of nurse self care to the delivery of quality patient care. In order
to be able to meet all the needs of the patient, a nurse needs to be prepared in mind, body and spirit.
Holistic Nurse Self Care The Holistic Nursing Care standards are based on five core values: holistic
philosophy and education; holistic ethics, theories and research; holistic nurse self care; holistic
communication, therapeutic environment and cultural competence; and holistic caring process. In my
opinion, Holistic Nurse Self Care ranks as the most important value that should be incorporated into
the Holistic nurse s practice. As a nurse, I feel that nurses have to take care of themselves in order to
be able to take care of their patients and deliver high quality care to them. Self care and self awareness
are important to prevent nurse burnout which can lead to depression, anger, feelings of incompetence,
difficulties in one s home, absenteeism and staff

Local Issues In Congress
In today s government, a major issue involves members of Congress focusing all of their time and
resources on re election. This causes the Congress to focus on the desires and needs of their
constituents while potentially ignoring necessary projects and laws that could benefit the entire nation.
This, in effect, results in wasted funding and an inefficient Congress. I am a strong believer that the
members of Congress need to focus on the national issues rather than local issues that dictate re

communities are being represented in a correct manner. Members of Congress focusing on these local
issues drives the need for pork barreling. There are potential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These members of Congress are focused on spending federal funding on companies or people that
would result in benefiting themselves. The members of Congress that stay within the confines of
Congress for decades may be involved with corruption with no recourse for their actions. This is
because the incumbent party has an advantage over the rivaling party on the premise that they are
already in office. One of the main examples of this can be seen in the Keating Five in the late 1980 s.
Five senators, who were given donations by Charles Keating, influenced a regulatory agency on
behalf of Keating s savings and loan institution, which was under investigation (Otteson 1991). These
senators were dealt no punishment, while two of the senators were actually re elected. This not only
displays the potential corruption, but also shows how strong the incumbent party is when facing
elections. If term limits were enacted, these men would have not been able to be re elected and new
senators could have taken their positions. . This ability for change in the members of Congress can
bring about new ideals and outlooks onto common issues that the country faces today. In addition to
the new ideals, the changing of Congress will allow for the constituents to develop more of an interest
in the government affairs. With new candidates, people will be forced to focus on

Global Strike Command Essay
The Air Forces Global Strike Command s mission is to provide strategic deterrence, global strike and
combat support. (1) Global Reach and air and space superiority simply can t be achieved without the
global strike mission. With the expertise of over 26,000 Airmen, the Air Force s nuclear and
conventional precision strike forces can credibly threaten and effectively conduct global strike by
holding any target on the planet at risk and, if necessary, disabling or destroying it promptly even from
bases in the continental United States. These forces possess the unique ability to achieve tactical,
operational, and strategic effects all in the course of a single combat mission. (3) We proved our
capabilities in 2011, with the air bombings in Libya with bombers that took off from Whiteman AFB,
Missouri and were able to hit targets with strategic aerial refueling without landing at a forward
operating base. With our defense mission involving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from the issues that shed a negative light on the Air Force and its ability to instill trust and
confidence from civilian leadership and negative public opinion, the capabilities of global strike have
been nothing short of successful. Global Strike is precise, long range power projection, both nuclear
and conventional, and is foundational to America s use of force credibility. Like all U.S. forces today,
global strike personnel face increasing asset modernization concerns and budgetary constraints. (2)
Since news and social media dominate the internet, political propaganda and false news have become
challenges not always planned for in national strategies. Dealing with embarrassing stories that are
true is enough of a challenge while world opinion of our military and our country will always play a
factor in the political realm as we plan for the

Research Paper On Quantum Entanglement
Quantum Entanglement Quantum entanglement, also known as spooky action at a distance as first
referred to by Einstein, is a phenomenon which occurs when two or more particles interact in such a
way that their physical states can be described as one whole system rather than as each particle
separately. The particles spin in opposite directions to each other and, no matter how far away each
particle is from the other, if one particle changes its spin the other particle/s will instantaneously
change their spin too in the exact opposite direction. You can, therefore, determine the physical state
of each particle just by examining the state of one particle. History: In 1935, Albert Einstein, in a joint
paper with Boris Podolsky and Nathan Rosen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus each particle would contain the necessary information with it resulting in there being no need for
information to be transmitted between the particles when they are measured. This theory was
originally seen by Einstein and by many others as the only explanation to the paradox and they thus
accepted that the quantum mechanical description must be

  • 12. Descartes s Meditations On First Philosophy We Think, Therefore We Are Throughout history man has always wanted to understand themselves, and to understand others. Humans have this innate wondering, this curiosity, as to what makes us who we are. What is it inside of us that allows us to exist? Sometimes the answer is as simple as looking inwards, or as René Descartes would call it, meditation. These meditations are moments of reflection, time spent with one s thoughts, and time to figure out where one is placed within the world. During one of these meditations, Descartes creates the phrase, cogito ergo sum , I think, therefore I am, in his monumental book, Principles of Philosophy, though it was written in another form earlier, ego sum, ego existo , I am, I exist, in his book Meditations on First Philosophy. This phrase, put so eloquently, means that because Descartes is able to think, because he is able to ponder his own existence, he therefore, exists. Descartes is correct in saying that his self exists because he can think, and ponder his existence. Descartes use of, cogito ergo sum addresses the issue of doubt in the world, and how to deal with our own existence because of this. We, as humans, have an underlying desire to understand reality, and to know what is, and what isn t. • 20. Descriptive And Rhythmic Components Of Speech Across... Suprasegmental variables are the melodic and rhythmic components of speech across segmental boundaries, also called prosody. They can affect intelligibility as well as imply additional meaning. The main variables are intonation, stress, and rhythm. These deal with pitch, prominence, and length across a phrase, respectively, although each of these variables have significant interconnections. Intonation is the suprasegmental factor that can greatly affect the meaning of a phrase. An intonation pattern is a measure of how pitch varies across a phrase. Specific patterns, like rising pitch at the end of a phrase, can imply a question and other patterns can imply other meanings. Intonation can also inform the listener as to when the speaker is finished talking by raising or lowering pitch at the end of a phrase. Monopitch, or lack of intonation, produces a reduction in intelligibility. When studying pitch related to speech a conversion from frequency to semitones is often calculated because this gives an equalized representation across male/female speakers. Stress can be found within words and within sentences. Stress is a change in the force or effort given to a word. This can be seen in fundamental frequency, intensity, duration, or any combination of these factors at once. Stress changes the prominence of certain words in a phrase, as well as possibly changing the meaning of a word. While Afghanistan was able to reach the original goal it had set for itself, new goals were created to combat the continuous high number of maternal deaths. • 23. Ivf Treatment And Its Effects Essay In Vitro Fertilization, more commonly known as IVF treatment is the process of combining a woman s eggs and a man s sperm in a dish where the healthiest embryo, or multiple, are then implanted in the woman s uterus. IVF is an extensively discussed topic through separate countries and the laws and restrictions behind it. It is a process which allows couples having trouble with infertility, and a number of other social pairings, to be able to conceive children. But one of the biggest issues behind IVF and what prevents it from being legal in some countries is the ethics behind it and whether or not it could have an impact on the baby being conceived, or its parents. Although IVF treatment is legal in New Zealand and has been since 1978 there is still a lot of controversy on the topic about the quality of life of those involved. Although IVF treatment allows those who cannot conceive a child naturally to still be able to have children there are still many risks behind it as with any scientific procedure. Some research points to IVF treatment causing an increase in birth defects such as autism, intrauterine growth retardation and mental retardation. Pregnancies caused by IVF have also shown a higher rate of miscarriages and premature labour. As well as the risks to the foetus, the parents are also at certain risks. The hormonal drugs the female is required to take to undergo the IVF process can have an effect on her in her life such as hot flushes, headaches and nausea. However, ... • 25. Rube Goldberg Machine Contest Essay The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC) is named after the late cartoonist Reuben Lucius Goldberg. Having died in 1970, he lives on in the GMC as puzzling machines with crazy mechanisms are built in the spirit of his illustrations. For 55 years the award winning engineer turned cartoonist drew machines and contraptions that satirized the new machines and gadgets being built. His drawings, using simple gadgets and household items already in use, were incredibly complex and wacky but had an ingenious, logical progression to them. Goldberg s inventions became so widely known that Webster Dictionary added the term Rube Goldberg to its listings, defining it as accomplishing by extremely complex, roundabout means what seemingly could be done simply. In the words of the inventor, the machines were a symbol of man s capacity for exerting maximum effort to achieve minimal results. He believed that most people preferred doing things the hard way than using a more simple and direct path to accomplish a goal. When I think of dynamic pricing, I instantly think of concert tickets. There is a continuously high demand for concert tickets, especially for more shows by more popular artists. • 28. Compare And Contrast The Colonial Perspectives Of The... Similar to the way that the colonial and British perspectives greatly varied for the Boston Massacre, their opinions are once again vastly different for the Battles of Lexington and Concord. In this event as well, both parties attempt to place the blame on the other which is not unusual due the nature of the sources. However, this highlights the large amount of bias evident in all of the accounts. For the colonial perspective, there are two statements, each from a member of a colonial militia that fought during the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Both of these sources place the blame on the British soldiers and claim that the British fired first, killing several colonists. One account, from the Battle of North Bridge, claims that the colonists were ordered to hold their fire and that they didn t fire until the British opened fire upon them. The other account, from soldier who fought during the skirmish at the Lexington Green, states that the colonists did not even get a single shot off, at least not before the soldier whose account this is was wounded. This source also claims that the British commanding officers were yelling at and insulting the colonists as their ranks closed on the milita. Both these sources are very similar to the colonial perspectives of the Boston Massacre because they all place the blame on the British soldiers and attempt to make themselves appear as the victims. Pulsing Target Gene Induction Some signal transduction systems produce multiple pulses of target gene expression in succession when exposed to a constant level of stimulus (Levine et al., 2013) (Fig. 1.1B). Although pulsing is similar to transcriptional bursting in that target gene expression levels increase and decrease repetitively, pulsing is regulated by genetic circuits that activate and deactivate pathway output regulators with a defined frequency and amplitude instead of relying on stochastic gene expression (Levine et al., 2013; Raj and van Oudenaarden, 2008). Pulsing can be beneficial during signal transduction by allowing cells to respond in ways that would be difficult to achieve with a simpler response (Levine et al., 2013). In response to γ irradiation mediated DNA damage, ATM kinase activates the tumor suppressor protein, p53, via phosphorylation. Once activated, p53 initiates two negative feedback loops. The first negative feedback loop is caused by p53 activating the expression of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Mdm2, allowing Mdm2 to target p53 for degradation. The second negative feedback loop is the result of p53 activating the expression of the phosphatase Wip1, which dephosphorylates p53 and therefore reduces its stability. Wip1 also targets ATM kinase, which requires phosphorylation in order to be in the active state. Therefore, the increased activity of Wip1 silences ATM kinase, which prevents the activation of p53. If DNA damage persists in the cell, ATM kinase activates p53 once more after Wip1 expression levels have subsided. Pulsing of p53 activity results in cell cycle arrest and DNA repair, and continues until DNA damage has been completely repaired. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Descriptive Essay On Canada Day I think they call it Canada Day. A holiday in the middle of summer not unlike Independence Day in the United States. On this occasion, I happened to be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for Yellow Head . The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not so long ago gold rush days. Fewer than a thousand residents hid in the forests and canyons of this small settlement that clung to the western edge of the Canadian Rockies. My friends Chuck Gail had settled here just the year before, buying an old homestead that included one hundred and sixty acres of fields and woodlands at the foot of Mica Mountain. Now from the mountain, flowed a creed of the same name, the actual disposition of, was sometimes that of a well healed river in spring, often a mere trickle in summer. On this hot Sunday in July however, new friends and families were arriving at Chuck Gail s every moment. A holiday picnic had been planned in front of the farmhouse. Tables had been set up; barbecue pits ignited, croquet mallets waited. Howard the Monk arrived early, bringing with him a pot of still warm baked beans. Holistic And Holistic Nursing Care Essay Holistic Nursing Care Norma Valdez Rosa South University Online Complementary Alternative Methods Introduction Holistic nursing is defined as all nursing practice that has healing the whole person as its goal (Dossey, 2012). Holistic nursing does not replace medicinal practice; rather, it incorporates the whole patient into the nursing care plan with the outcome being that of a healthier patient. Holistic Nurse Self Care is the most important core value of the Holistic Nursing Care standards because of the importance of nurse self care to the delivery of quality patient care. In order to be able to meet all the needs of the patient, a nurse needs to be prepared in mind, body and spirit. Holistic Nurse Self Care The Holistic Nursing Care standards are based on five core values: holistic philosophy and education; holistic ethics, theories and research; holistic nurse self care; holistic communication, therapeutic environment and cultural competence; and holistic caring process. In my opinion, Holistic Nurse Self Care ranks as the most important value that should be incorporated into the Holistic nurse s practice. As a nurse, I feel that nurses have to take care of themselves in order to be able to take care of their patients and deliver high quality care to them. Research Paper On Quantum Entanglement Quantum Entanglement Quantum entanglement, also known as spooky action at a distance as first referred to by Einstein, is a phenomenon which occurs when two or more particles interact in such a way that their physical states can be described as one whole system rather than as each particle separately. The particles spin in opposite directions to each other and, no matter how far away each particle is from the other, if one particle changes its spin the other particle/s will instantaneously change their spin too in the exact opposite direction. You can, therefore, determine the physical state of each particle just by examining the state of one particle. History: In 1935, Albert Einstein, in a joint paper with Boris Podolsky and Nathan Rosen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus each particle would contain the necessary information with it resulting in there being no need for information to be transmitted between the particles when they are measured. This theory was originally seen by Einstein and by many others as the only explanation to the paradox and they thus accepted that the quantum mechanical description must be ...
