Frattached Ear Lobe Experiments
Introduction/Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to determine the allele frequency of attached
versus detached ear lobes in our society and distinguish if there is a recognizable difference between
the two. This is a trait based on a single gene and is easily studied. Attached ear lobes connect directly
to the side of the head, while detached ear lobes hang down below the point of attachment. One
objective is to determine which earlobe is more dominant for our population.
Hypothesis:
If a large enough population is studied and all detached and attached ear lobes are counted, I conclude
the study will indicate both types of ear lobes will be relatively equal.
Methods:
I chose the Town Center Mall as a place for my study, having considered a mall was a great place to
reach a large segment of the population. There was a diverse population for both age and race as well
as an adequate number of males and females. I randomly determined the ear lobe type of the first fifty
people I came in contact with and noted this as my dependent variable. In order to ... Show more

The dominant allele was the unattached ear lobe with the attached being the recessive allele. The
Hardy Weinberg equation was used to find the frequencies of the dominant and recessive alleles. After
noting and calculating the results of the first fifty people at the mall, I tested a second experiment,
deducing that attached ear lobes seemed to be more prevalent in younger females. My new hypothesis
was females under age thirty had a higher frequency of attached ear lobes, so I then observed the next
fifty females that appeared under the age of thirty and recorded the results. The Hardy Weinberg
formula was again used in the calculations.
Results:
Several studies have Number of Detached Number of Attached

Essay On Classroom Transition
The number of children participating in a group care setting has drastically risen over the past decade
(U.S Department of Education 2007). In an Early Childhood setting challenging behavior may arise
during transitional times (Hemmeter, Ostrosky, Artman Kinder, 2008). Transitions cause students to
stop what they are doing, perform long chain of tasks, and begin a new activity, all without breaking
classroom rules (McIntosh, Herman Sanford, 2004). Dealing with transitions multiple times a day in
my own classroom setting has led me to the question: What strategies can teachers employ to decrease
transition time and increase the amount of student time on task?
Review of the Literature
In 2004, Yarbrough, Skinner, and Lee investigated the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the students transitional time exceeded the time on the card, students would not receive a letter for
that day. Thus, the dependent variable in this study was the students transitional time from the hallway
to the classroom; the independent variable was the use of the TGG; and the measure was the duration
of each transition. A withdrawal design was used to gauge the game s effectiveness. During the three
day baseline phase, it took students more than 2.5 min to transition into the classroom each day. After
the first intervention phase began, transitional time decreased to an average of 59 s, and no transition
exceeded 2 min. (There were still 3 days, however, in which the students did not meet the criteria on
the transition card.) The treatment phase ended when students earned their first party, and then the
teacher withdrew the TGG. The first day without the TGG showed a minimal increase in transitional
time, but the subsequent days showed a return to baseline levels. When the teacher reinstated the
game, transitional times reduced again even to below initial treatment levels (range: 33 55 s). A short
withdrawal produced a return to 7 baseline levels before the teacher permanently reinstated the TGG.
Buck (1999) conducted a survey of teachers that used music in their classrooms to help students
transition. Of the 360 teachers surveyed, Buck found 81 used music during transition times. Some
teachers used music as a way to let students

Rhetorical Analysis Of Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God Rhetorical Analysis Revivalist preacher, Jonathan Edwards, in
his sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , raves about the punishments that are in an
unconverted sinners near future. Edwards purpose is to spark a religious revival in Puritan
communities using fear as a motivator. He adopts a zealous tone in order to provoke emotional distress
in his audience members that are out of Christ . In his sermon, Edwards uses numerous persuasive
styles, including terrifying imagery and metaphors. Florence Kelley uses guilt invoking diction and an
overall aggressive/accusatory tone to persuade her audience to stop child labor. The clever word
choice used in her speech is one of the largest points that helped her emotionally influence her
audience. Diminutive words such as tiny and little evoke guilt in ... Show more content on

Kelley illustrates pitiful images of tiny children trapped in the sweating system which allows these
children to be cruelly abused. The powerful language which describes these children as little beasts of
burden helps her prove her point child labor is making these children lose their humanity. These
images of children as little beasts of burden show how child labor strips children of their humanity,
forcing her audience to be no longer able to ignore the problem in their society. After wrapping around
the audience s hearts with pity evoking words, she aggressively attacks them all, claiming that they are
all part of the system that is turning innocent children into machine like beasts that have to toil
throughout the night to satisfy the needs of the adult consumers. Kelley accuses her audience that no
one in this room tonight can feel free from such participation in the system because they continue to
buy the products produced through child labor, and choose to not vote against it. After reducing this
national system problem into a personal problem in her

Salmonella – description, pathogenesis, symptoms Essay
Salmonella description, pathogenesis, symptoms
Salmonella is a gram negative bacillus that causes inflammation of the GI tract and in some cases, if
the immune response is not sufficiently powerful and treatment is not administered, can become
systemic and cause even more serious conditions throughout the body. After ingestion, these bacteria
cause infection by invading the epithelial cells of the small intestine and macrophages. Though there
are more than two thousand different subspecies of Salmonella, few of them are able to cause serious
conditions in humans for most, the disease resolves itself in a matter of days. Those who are most
affected by Salmonella infection are infants, the elderly, and people with compromised immune ...

salmonella is a specialized invader of the gastrointestinal system that can cause a variety of painful
conditions of varying severity.
The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family
Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move
around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to
grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise
(Gray and Fedorka Cray 56).
The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen, and Vi antigen. The
O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each salmonella bacillus may posses 2 or
more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be destroyed by heat
and enables the motility of the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295). The last antigen is
known as the Vi antigen because this antigen is related the virulence of the bacterium. As a capsular
antigen, its presence enhances the virulence of the bacterium that has it of all the sub species of
Salmonella, only two, Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) typhi and S. choleraesuis, have the Vi antigen
(296).

In terms of filling my obligations I completed all but one. I believe we as a chorus performed well,

I believe we provided good support for the actors and when our piece came we performed well. Our

The Five Husbands In The Wife Of Bath s Tale
The wife of bath stands up for women equality and does not let men push her around. She had five
husbands, with each of them she used a technique to get what she wanted. She would blame them for
things they did not do, she would make them buy her things and have complete mastery over all of
them. With her fifth husband things become rocky with her having the upper hand in the relationship.
This is shown through the book that her husband reads which in that book degrades women. She snaps
back into this mode of control and stands up for women by tearing the pages out of this book. The

Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through their
submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the absurdities of life.
According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a mud. He has the liberty to remain in this
mud and thus lead a passive, supine, acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the choice to
alleviate themselves out of their own misery or accept their stance in society. In The Stranger, by
Albert Camus, although both Raymond Sintes and Meursault violates social conventions through their
acts of violence, it is ironically through acknowledging their crimes that critiques not only their own
existence but also the empowerment of the French Civilization. ... Show more content on

After the confrontation between Sintes and his mistress brother, Meursault assists him by accepting
the revolver to use for self defense: The trigger gave;... I shook off the sweat and the sun. I knew that I
had shattered the harmony of the day, the exceptional silence of a beach where I d been happy. Then I
fired four more times at the motionless body...And it was like knocking four quick times on the door
of unhappiness (59). Meursault enters the doors of unhappiness after he fired four more times at the
motionless body . Despite being aware that he shattered the harmony of the day , he accepts his crimes
and the consequences he may endure because of it. Unlike the French society that disregards all
responsibility of imposing violence among the Arabs, Meursault admits to his faults and surrenders
himself to a lifetime of despair. Hence, through his consciousness Meursault enlightens himself to
defy social norms and continue to choose his own path in life. Subsequently, Meursault embraces his
consequences as he pleads guilty to his crime. After being sentenced to death, Meursault experiences
an epiphany as he realizes that it is through hatred and condemnation from others that brings justice to
his crimes: For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there
be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution

Changes In Fahrenheit 451
In Ray Braudbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag undergoes major changes because of the
influence of other intellects and events; in effect this caused him to ruminate about events that were
considered normal . Montag s occupation is firefighting, however he is not the traditional version of a
fire fighter. Montag does not put out fire, but rather helps ignite them. This is considered ordinary
within his society because they are not allowed to read books or have knowledge previous to this era.
This law is enforced with such intensity because the government fears that knowledge in one s mind
will contribute to overthrowing whoever is in control or has the most power within the society.
However this does not stop a few individuals (including Montag) to pose threats to the government by
reading and by posing questions. Within the beginning of the novel, one of the major people that
sparked a change in Guy Montag was the exquisitely observant Clarisse McClellan. She is different
from all of the others in the society who like to head for a Fun Park to bully people around or break
windowpanes in the Car Wrecker. She enjoys observing people, and she observes Montag, diagnosing

The Argument Of Federal Progressive Income Tax
Legal Illusion
The arguments regarding federal progressive income tax has been represented to us through the United
States Supreme Court, on the floors of congress, and in media. The revenue from taxes reached the
objective of financing wars from the Civil War through World War II. At the same time deteriorating
the economy with fewer dollars that could be used on imports, exports, and services (Henchman).
Today, the United States deficit is $18,800,241,350,538.12 this is a grand total of 58,405.32 owed by
every man, woman, and child (Brown). The legal illusion is presenting the question, is income tax
legal? There are Americans today who believe income tax is not legal and stand by their beliefs in a
movement that has cost many individuals considerably. I am interviewing such a person, his name is
Bobby Ray and the history he presented to me was interesting, and has left me with more questions
than answers.
Today, the federal government controls unrestricted means to execute whatsoever the elected official
desire, without reverence for the Constitution the aforementioned vanished gradually. Common people
are not knowledgeable that the United States in 1776, did not have personal income tax sovereign, and
in 1913; a perpetual income tax was inflicted upon the people. In actual fact, the Constitution
disallowed a direct income tax on there person. For longer than a century, the leadership endured

Data Warehouse And Data Warehousing
Introduction
The data collection company has a huge collection of data generally goes into terabytes. Data

line with them, data warehouse turns out to be a huge help. Every moment, a single page visit
generates thousands of records to be saved. Data may get outdated but it cannot be deleted as few
months down the line, it will be used for analysis. This analysis generated future prospects of
business. And this analysis depends on how the data is collected and how efficiently it be arranged to

become more complex and start generating and gathering huge amount of data which were difficult to

A more detailed analysis of the need for Data Warehousing is as follows:
Data Integration
An enterprise data is large and complex and spread out through a variety of different in house and

location. It also cuts down time and the lengthy process involved in generation of reports because a

The Fundamental Forces in Nature
The fundamental forces in nature have been around for centuries. Tying everything together many
scientist and physicist have came about to help with the theories of these fundamental forces which
include gravitation, electromagnetism, strong, and weak forces. Physicist like Maxwell, Newton,
Fermi, Chadwick, and Kepler, have made a strong impact on how people see the world today. These
fundamental forces are what goes on in everyday life and what we still see till this day. The point we
are going to get to are the coming about of these theories and how they are seen in the outside world
and also in physics. In my paper I will be splitting up how the scientist/physicist came to contribute to
the fundamental forces and how each scientist came to contribute to the coming and discovery of each
force. In the second part of the paper I will be describing how each force strong and weak are used in
nature. These topics will help anyone in the search for information on the topic of forces that came to
be due to physics. History of the fundamental forces In 1605 Kepler published the laws of planetary
motion which included 3 laws. First law was that every planet is an ellipse with the sun. Second a line
segment connecting a planet and the sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. Lastly
the third law which states that the time it takes for a planet to orbit the Sun increases rapidly
corresponding with the radius of the planets orbit. These laws came to help the

Essay On Handbags
Handbags are an essential fashion accessory that enhances the personality of a woman. It is said to be
a conveyer of status as much as it acts as a carrier for personal belonging . (Olen, 2015). Our brand
MJam is an online business providing contemporary handbags made in a variety of materials. The
business is owned by an inspiring and talented leather accessories designer Marukh Jamshed. The
brand provides a variety of handbags made in trendy colors with tasteful embellishments, catering to
the chic and stylish target customers. It first began its operations in 2011, targeting a limited customer
base. And ever since its inception the brand has been operating online. Thus it has a potential to
expand its customer base by establishing retail presence in multi brand stores such as PFDC and
Tehzeeb. This would create convenience for the customers who wish to tangibly inspect the product
before purchasing it. The literature review is based on variables such as expanding the business to

America s Involvement In The Vietnam War
Lyndon B. Johnson inherited the war from Kennedy in 1963 and it was his responsibility to lead
America through the Vietnam war and stop communism, he planned was to escalate the war. The Gulf
of Tonkin resolution was what really involved the US in the war and made them a big part of it. The
alleged attacks of North Vietnam on the USS Maddox angered America and it was a way for Johnson
to organise attacks on North Vietnam. He now had an excuse and his main view on the war was to
escalate it. Although he had a lot of support from US citizens, there were some people protesting
against his approach towards the war later on.

This is one of the main reasons why he began the process of Vietnamization which was to train, equip

In conclusion, we can say that US policies changed during the presidencies of Johnson and Nixon due
to two major reasons that link to each other the media which transferred raw news from Vietnam to
America and then led to people protesting and standing against the government, reducing the support
the army had and making many people refuse to join the war.
The media put pressure on the government as it made people question what they were doing and it
produced guilt for people, this then led people putting more pressure on the government. At the time
of this, the media had many different methods in letting people know what was happening and
therefore they were able to reach more people. They used pictures, articles and most importantly they
televised what was happening. If the media did not have the right resources to do all of this, US
policies might have not changed as they did because each president would have used as much power
and weapons as they wanted on Vietnam because people would not know the truth of what was
happening as only sugar coated news by the government would have reached

Economic And Social Conditions On The Health Of People And...
From the Lecture: 1. Many health outcomes such as obesity, average life expectancy, the infant
mortality are directly related to the inequality within a society. Poor health and poverty are directly
related to each other as the poverty level increases the health outcomes worsens. Inequality causes. We
all know that people who live in poorer countries live shorter lives and this is directly related to the
inequality. Unequally access to the healthcare, food, housing, education. Job that does not come with
stress. 2. I think that economic and social conditions effect the health of people and communities.
Economic and social conditions are resulted by the amount of money people have, by power, and by
available resources and all of these are influenced by the policies. In short, if you are closer to the top
of the chart, you are healthier because you have access to the resources to stay healthy which are good
education, a job that pays good, quality healthcare, nutrition, housing, social support, and of course no
discrimination. 3. When I think about illness is socially constructed the first thing that comes to my
mind how the society sees the evilness and how people define it and how they react it. For example,
here in the US when I go see a doctor, doctors do not want to prescribe a medication unless I am dying
because they get paid by the insurance companies if they do not prescribe too much medicines.

With a decrease in algae population, the grasses of the bay will be fed on by zooplankton, oysters, and

Zooplankton, oysters, and fish will no longer eat the algae, they would resort to the Bay grasses. The
effects then go onto the plants and animals living here. (Science Daily) Since the algae population

Present Wireless Scenario Consists Of Homogeneous Network...
Present wireless scenario consists of homogeneous network and heterogeneous networks. In
homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern, receiver
noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage of coverage
hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This
arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network. Whereas
small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage hole and to provide mobility
to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is
not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits,
current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS achieves near optimal
performance. Researchers are now moving towards more advanced heterogeneous network topology
which will bring the network more closely to the mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49].
HetNets will significantly improve the spectral efficiency per unit area by utilizing a diverse set of
BSs. 1.4 Elements of Heterogeneous Network Heterogeneous deployment need to use innovative cell
association and inter celling interference coordination techniques in order to realize the promised
capacity and coverage gains. A typical heterogeneous wireless technology as shown in figure 1.4 has

to reach the ultimate turning point. Her pending choice, to either join the dark but seductive world of
immortals or pursue a fully human life, has become the thread from which the fate of two completely

How We Waste Power and Carbon Dioxide
Did you know that lighting a typical office overnight wastes enough energy to heat water for one
thousand cups of tea (Climate Care.org). This is only one of many examples of how we waste power
and Carbon dioxide. Almost everything we do releases carbon dioxide emissions, and in different
amounts. We can save money and CO2 by reducing our carbon footprints, which is the total quantity
of greenhouse gases that someone produces. Although we don t think about them very often, a carbon
footprint is part of everyone s life because it s measured on things we use, our actions create and waste
CO2, and several people have worked to find energy saving ways to reduce them and help the
environment.
A carbon footprint is measured by using several different variables about someone s lifestyle. It s
important to note that depending on where someone may live influences their impact on their carbon
footprint. Just as Stephanie Pappas mentioned; In California, for example, electricity generation is
relatively climate friendly, so focusing on vehicular emissions has a greater impact . Using an online
calculator can show anyone how much CO2 they use on average, by answering the questions
provided. Inevitably, in going about our daily lives commuting, sheltering our families, eating each of
us contributes to the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing climate change (Nature.org). Basically,
determining your carbon footprint is a great first step to better understanding what uses

The Golden Age of Piracy Essay example
During the 16th, 17th and early 18th centuries, piracy was rampant in the Atlantic, specifically in the
West Indies. Piracy has existed since the earliest days of ocean travel, for a range of personal and
economic reasons. However, one of the major reasons why piracy was wide spread and rampant in the
16th, 17th and early 18th centuries was Great Britain s endorsement and usage of piracy as an asset; in
wars fought in the New World. Great Britain with its expanding power and conflicts with other nations
would make piracy a lifestyle and lay down the foundation for the Golden Age of Piracy and
eventually bring what it created to a screeching halt.

Spain under King Philip the second, was the most powerful nation in Europe at the time and sought to
weaken Elizabeth s reign and have her replaced. So, for the Queen to keep her power and avoid open
conflict with Spain, England engaged in an aggressive para naval policy towards Spain; and sought to
counter Spanish expansion in the New World. Privateering expeditions were under the guise of
seeking new channels for English trade, but in fact the expeditions mainly attacked Spanish colonies
in the New World. The English privateer John Hawkins, was one of the first hired and supported by
England to attack Spanish colonies and trading vessels. Hawkins was the first Englishman to trade
slaves in the New World, however he employed warlike methods of forcing trade and engaged a and
defeated a Spanish fleet in the harbor of Vera Cruz. Another famous privateer who was utilized by the
English government was Sir Francis Drake. Drake obtained a privateering commission from Queen
Elizabeth in 1570, to strike at Spanish trading vessels and port cities. In the years that followed, he
sacked the Spanish towns of Nombre de Dios and Panama, which in the process he captured a Spanish

Merced Community Benefit Analysis
Even though the price of native plants and trees are more expensive than usual, there are many
existing companies that support people to plant the native plants and trees such as giving away the
grant and seed for the volunteer. As a Merced resident, I found out the solution to achieve the native
plants and trees by applying for the volunteer in order to grant money and seeds from other private
supporters. Since those supporters offer everything for people to do so, why don t people accept those
offers? With that in mind, since the native plants and trees are highly expensive than usual, the support
from free grants and seeds could be the solution for Merced people to restoring the native plants and

government is giving away the money to gardening the society where we live. Because planting is
always bifacial to the environment. In fact, the government hands out $10 billion subsidies per month,
which has many unclaimed subsidies which most people may qualify. Throughout the application, the

In one episode, one of the main characters ended up sleeping with his date even though they had just
met each other the day before and had only gone out on one date. In the very same episode, another of
the main characters had sex with a woman that he had just met less than ten minutes before. In reality,
the norm (or the desired norm) is to wait until a couple has been going out for a while and gets to
know each other better before having sex. In some cases, it is the norm to wait until marriage before
having sex. There are many exceptions to these norms, but most people like to believe that they hold
true.
Another aspect that is falsely portrayed is the representation of love and sex. This show sends several
different messages about love and sex, some of them completely contradicting the others. The one
thing that caught my attention the most though, was the act of casual sex, or the act of sex without
love. In one of the episodes mentioned earlier, one of the main characters had slept with a woman he
only had met the day before. The following morning, the main character told his roommate that,
[Their] relationship had no spark , and [he] only slept with her because she was willing to do so . This
proves that in this show, most relationships are based on sexual attraction, instead of cognitive
relationships. Then he asked his roommate to break up with the woman for him, since he had to leave.

Meanwhile, the overall price level dropped by about 1/3. Many people blamed the crash for the
economical collapse. Some people held responsible were President Hoover, brokers, bankers, and
businessmen. The cause of the depression cannot be linked to one individual or even a group of
people. It is also unlikely that the crash of the market would have been large enough to lead the US
economy into the depression and to sustain the downward spiral in business activity. (1929 ) Why
People Invested in the Stock Market During 1929, people invested in the stock market for 5 major
reasons. The first was that the market was considered an easy way to get rich, quick. Although, about
4 million Americans, a small amount, invested in the stock market at one time. The constant influx of
new investors coming in and old investors moving out ensured that new money was always flowing
around. (1929 ) Another reason was higher wages. This meant that everyone in America had extra
money to put into savings or invest in the market. The 3rd reason was that at this time, money was
made more readily available, from banks, at a lower interest rate to more people. Some economist
debated that this influenced the stock market, it is conceivable that people took loans to buy more
stock. (1929 ) The fourth reason is that industry was over producing, in anticipation of selling

The Great Gatsby Marxism Analysis
Marxist Lense: Oblivious Until Oblivion Obliviousness is the key to happiness in the world of The
Great Gatsby. The Roaring twenties, the book s setting, a time of recklessness and enjoyment had
despair afterwards which is a similar theme to the story. In the story, characters who see certain
situations with clouded judgement make their own, individual happiness plausible. Many of these
characters are oblivious to various aspects of life such as: a destructive lifestyle, hope, and love, and
are able to create temporary but powerful happiness opposed to people who are grounded by the brutal
reality. The 1920 s lifestyle was recklessness and exuberant. The causation of the recklessness was
caused from a familiar substance, alcohol. Alcoholism in story symbolizes blindness in the story and is
similar to the affects of life. Furthermore, the clouded judgement cause from the alcohol is able to
cause a temporary surplus of positive emotions as life s pressure is released with every drink. Relating
to drunkeness, Nick writes during a party, drunk, Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows
must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets, and
I was him too, looking up and wondering. I was within and without simultaneously enchanted and
repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life ( Fitzgerald 35) which exemplifies the 1920 s and the
thrilling effect of alcoholism. Although, at first, the party was awkward, Nick is able to

In economics the demand of any good is the amount of the good that buyers are willing and able to
purchase (Mankiw, 2012). When considering the demand of smartphones there are several
determining factors that correspond with it. One of the key factors is income. As smartphones are
normal, or even luxury goods, then there is a positive correlation between consumers income and the
demand for the product. In other words, when consumers income rises the demand increases; when
income falls, the same happens with the demand for the product. Employment is rising and wages are
starting to trend upwards (The National, 2014) this fact results in a right shift of the demand curve of
smartphone market on the whole as it shows in Figure 1 below, where D represents the initial demand
and D is the demand after increase of income. If we take into consideration certain brands, for
example Samsung and Apple that were mentioned earlier, not only income but also such factor as
price of a substitute good arises. There are no particular substitutes for smartphones in general, but the
smartphones themselves play a substitutive role inside the market. If the income of the customers is
high, then they can afford themselves to purchase rather expensive phones, iPhones or high priced
models of Samsung for instance. People with lower income that will to buy a smartphone can allow
buying low priced ones. According to law of

To further bat conservation, Medellin has joined forces with a handful of tequila producers and bar

Though it is now eclipsed by the Heartland hack, a massive intrusion on TJX Company Inc. s systems
a few years earlier is significant because it was one of the first to show just how vulnerable retailers
were. TJX Companies include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeSense.
In December 2006, the Framingham, Massachusetts based TJX alerted law enforcement that
cybercriminals had stolen more than 45 million customer records in 2003 and 2004. In January 2007 it
went public with the news.
According to Information Week, within eight months, the company had spent more than $20 million
investigating the incident, notifying customers and hiring lawyers to deal with the dozens of
associated lawsuits. The hack alerted the industry to the threat of cybercriminals and pushed
lawmakers to fast track data security legislation, Information Week reported (Heussner, 2010).

gory sacrifices done to please their many gods in their polytheistic religion. The much feared
civilization began by the exile of one of the two Toltec leaders, which lead to the decline of the Toltec

The selfless act the gods committed led to one of the major reasons for human sacrifices which was
that since the gods gave up their own life for the creation of the new world, that the Aztecs had to
somehow respect and honor their action. They did this by creating an eighteen month calendar, which
dedicated each month to a certain god. The Aztecs used scared and solar calendars to tell time and
when all the possible combinations had been used, usually every fifty two years, the Aztecs would go
through a twelve day period before the cycle started again (Benson 506).
There were many different methods the Aztecs used to sacrifice their victims but most sacrifices
centered on the method of heart extraction. The victims were, thrust onto the stone, where a temple
priest cut through their chest wall with a ritual flint knife, and the heart was, [offered] to the sun for
vitality and nourishment, ( Aztec Human Sacrifices ). There was also the act of burning the victim
alive in the sacrificial fire but before they reached death they were taken out and their heart would be

method of sacrifice called bloodletting. The priest would begin by punctuating his tongue or any other

Again, I missed to identify the things that didn t made sense in the essay. For example, when the
narrator is talking about the shoes she bought. She didn t need them, but she bought them anyways, it
proved that she was not someone to feel bad for. She was not hurting for money, yet she gave the
impression that she did. In the party where she was catering, she broke the crystal not because she was
careless, moreover, she was upset because of the guests in a table talking; in her mind, she believed
she was smarter and better than them. The other point I fail to notice, was when she talked about her
mom, the mom was someone who was very critical about black actors. She believed black actors gave
a bad impression of blacks because they were giving condescending role, hence she said blacks don t
belong in movies. However, she was a light skin woman pretending to be a French maid, because her

problems with dreams. They were in Hollywood because they liked the movies, the movies made
them dream and by living there, they were closer to their dreams, but when dreams chattered we have
nothing, dreams are the problem and the narrator finally sees that in the end, hence I missed this point
when I wrote my response. In the third essay, Under the Influence , I did identify the dad s drinking

How the Role of an Audit Firm has Expanded Over Time
As the nature and structure of companies has changed over the years, so has the portfolio of services
that auditors provide. Today, while companies still rely on an auditing firm s classic audit services,
they use the same firms for attestation services and increasingly for financial and non financial
assurance services as well. The changing scope dovetails with a rise in the outsourcing of non core
activities and a heightened need for management to understand and drive continuous improvement
through their business processes. These services are sought from a variety of sources and are primarily
used to aid in the decision making ability of both management and those outside the company, who

The Auditing Standards Board (ASB) and the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards(GAAS) are
written with the standards of the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), which was issued by the
International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). So the ASB, GAAS, and IAASB are
the main standards setters for auditing and assurance services.
The attest engagements are governed by ASB, which issues Statements on Standards for Attestation
Engagements (SSAEs). The standards cover examination, review, or an agreed upon procedures report
on subject matter, or an assertion about the subject matter, that is the responsibility of another party

Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
The 1996 film, Romeo and Juliet, is Baz Luhrmann s interpretation of William Shakespeare s play by
the same name. This film is part of Baz Luhrmann s Red Curtain Trilogy where Luhrmann uses a
theatre motif in each, with poetry and language being the motif used in Romeo and Juliet. This play
was originally written by William Shakespeare who was an English poet, playwright, actor and a man
who is considered one of the greatest contributors to English literature as he invented over 1700 now
common words and wrote some of the world s most famous plays. Romeo and Juliet was written in
1595 so Luhrmann had to give the film a contemporary twist but keeps the original themes of

The costumes used in Luhrmann s film are very modern as using the original Elizabethan style
costumes would make the film more historical and therefore would not appeal to a younger audience.
Luhrmann has used two distinctive costume styles to help the audience distinguish the difference
between the two families. For the Montague family, Luhrmann has put the characters in unbuttoned,
bright coloured Hawaiian shirts and given the males short blonde hair to link to these characters
beachside lifestyles. For the Capulet family, Luhrmann has used stylish but sinister looking costumes
such as vests, and silver heeled boots to show the audience how these men are similar to Mexican drug

What Is Diversity In America Today
Diversity is common in America today, many people sharing a unique blend of many different
collective cultural views on religion, politics, moral and ethical values. Conversely, an unsurpassed
rich mixture of religions, races, and cultures, making it a wide ranging synthesis that is unique to any
other part of the world. Still, among the many religious cultures in America (secular, Christian, and
other religions) Christianity still has much ground to cover with non believers. Inasmuch, many
religious cultures do not belief that Jesus is the son of God and humanities Redeemer, such as, the
Jehovah s Witnesses and Mormons believing that Jesus Christ existed, but he is not the Son of God.

Genocide In Cambodia
The workings of the Khmer Rouge regime, including many of the facets touched upon by Sambath
within the confines of this film, have had, and continue to have, a significant influence on the
development of Cambodia. As with any act of genocide, the mass killings executed between 1975 and
1979 deeply scarred both the economic and socio political fabric of Cambodia, profoundly affecting
the operations of the state, and detrimentally impacting the lives of its citizenry.
To look first at the economic side of the equation, the Khmer Rouge, upon their rise to power, greatly
altered the economic trajectory of Cambodia, reorienting the nation towards a heavily state driven
approach. Such an approach was a profound shift in direction from the prior ... Show more content on

Since the downfall of Pol Pot and Nuon Chea in 1979 following the Cambodian Vietnamese War, the
political climate and development of Cambodia have been shrouded beneath a cloud of instability,
unrest, and capriciousness. Although Cambodia has since made the move towards fully democratic
rule, the nature and legitimacy of this democracy remains subject to intensive international critique
and controversy. While now officially a democratic state, many of the ideological mannerism present
within the regime of the Khmer Rouge still exist today, although much more subtle and concealed.
Some of these include incredibly strong anti Vietnamese sentiment, the censorship of dissenting
political opinions (which has been rampant throughout Cambodia s recent elections and continues in
the follow up to the general election of 2018), a strict centralized government, and the killings of
reporters and activists (eg. the murders of Chea Vichea and Chut Wutty). With the downfall of the
Khmer Rouge, the volatile political climate allowed for the rise and solidification of Hun Sen s power,
the current PM of Cambodia who has been in office for decades. Thus, the Khmer Rouge and
genocide effectively set the stage, at least somewhat, for the rise and tenure of

how the teenagers should be.
Summary of market position
OMG Active Cereal is a new breakfast cereal which is based on rice bran. Rice bran has a high
nutrition value and is rich in anti oxidants and beta glucan, which naturally helps lower cholesterol re

We will use excellent grocers as global channels of distribution (i.e., Woolworths, Coles, and IGA etc.)
Our pricing strategy is below most of our competition, giving OMG Active Cereal a competitive edge
with consumers looking for value for their money.
Weakness A major foreseeable weakness OMG Active Cereal may encounter is that the cereal could
be perceived by the public as just another nutritious cereal . There are many kinds of nutritious
conscious cereals in today s market produced by several different companies. Each year, a few more
of these cereals are created and placed on each and every grocer s shelves. A weakness for our newly
released cereal could be that breakfast eating consumers will group OMG Active Cereal along with the
average nourishing cereals before eating or becoming cognizant of our cereal s fantastic features other
than especially served for the teenagers.
Threat OMG Active Cereal s most noteworthy threat is that soon, many cereal companies will also
release a breakfast product that focused on teenagers.
Opportunity Compared to the rest of the market, OMG Active Cereal s most notable opportunity is
that it is the first cereal which is especially served for the teenagers at the ages of 13 years to 19 years.
Competitor analysis
OMG Active Cereal has two major competitors Uncle Tobys and Kellogg s. Accounting to an online

implementation, and examples of success (Kotter, 2012). Ultimately, it provides a framework for
change as John Kotter s Eight Stage Change Process.
The book has three parts. The first part discusses change as a necessary component for an organization

Film Commentary on Hakka Stuffed Bitter Melon
The video 客家釀涼瓜 (Hakka Stuffed Bitter Melon) uses a traditional Hakka meal, Hakka Stuffed
Bitter Melon, as an example to elaborate some of the concepts about food covered in Anthropology.
The symbolism of food, inheritance of food among the community, correlation between food and
identity, and the gender stereotypes in food preparation are to be included in the video and would be
discussed in this commentary.
Firstly, traditional food or eating practices are related to the building of self identities. According Tam
(2002), Yum Cha (飲茶) carries the symbolism of the spirits of Hong Kong people, which are tolerant,
diverse, adaptable and looking towards changesi. Drinking herbal tea (凉茶), according to Cheng
(2002), is a practice symbolizing Hong Kong people s affirmations towards Chinaii. Food usually
carries special meanings in a community, the Hakka Stuffed Bitter Melon included. As what is
mentioned in this video, in Hakka community, the dish introduced carries a meaning of bearing
hardships since the taste of bitter melon is bitter that many people do not enjoy eating. Hakka people
treat having the dish as a practice to become a patient and strong people. The dish becomes a reminder
for the Hakka community in their daily life, which helps building their personal identities as one of the
Hakka community.

Misrepresentation Of Women In The Media
Miss Representation conveys that media is derogative to the most powerful women in the United
States. People learn more from the media than any other source because it is the message and
messenger. Americans devote about 10 hours and 39 minutes daily to consuming media (Howard).
The media s misrepresentation of women in movies, television shows, and advertisements negatively
shapes politics, our national discourse, children s inquisitive minds, and ultimately society. The danger
behind these stereotyped images of women is that their effect is subconscious, meaning we slowly
become accustomed to a sexist portrayal of women without even immediately realizing it. To cease
our unrealistic, prejudiced expectations of women, a culture change is necessary. Early on, adolescents
get the message that a woman s worth is mostly based on her looks, not her intelligence. This norm is
harmful to girls because they end up comparing themselves to an impossible standard and feel
ashamed when they cannot achieve it. Conversely, boys end up judging real women much more
harshly and start treating them like objects. Because adolescents have different interpretive and
emotional abilities from the rest of society, they are a particularly vulnerable group of people. They
are often exposed to the things they see in movies, television shows, and video games with little to no
mediation. The director of the movie, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, worries about the pressure her
daughter will feel to be like

  • 2. Frattached Ear Lobe Experiments Introduction/Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to determine the allele frequency of attached versus detached ear lobes in our society and distinguish if there is a recognizable difference between the two. This is a trait based on a single gene and is easily studied. Attached ear lobes connect directly to the side of the head, while detached ear lobes hang down below the point of attachment. One objective is to determine which earlobe is more dominant for our population. Hypothesis: If a large enough population is studied and all detached and attached ear lobes are counted, I conclude the study will indicate both types of ear lobes will be relatively equal. Methods: I chose the Town Center Mall as a place for my study, having considered a mall was a great place to reach a large segment of the population. There was a diverse population for both age and race as well as an adequate number of males and females. I randomly determined the ear lobe type of the first fifty people I came in contact with and noted this as my dependent variable. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dominant allele was the unattached ear lobe with the attached being the recessive allele. The Hardy Weinberg equation was used to find the frequencies of the dominant and recessive alleles. After noting and calculating the results of the first fifty people at the mall, I tested a second experiment, deducing that attached ear lobes seemed to be more prevalent in younger females. My new hypothesis was females under age thirty had a higher frequency of attached ear lobes, so I then observed the next fifty females that appeared under the age of thirty and recorded the results. The Hardy Weinberg formula was again used in the calculations. Results: Several studies have Number of Detached Number of Attached ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Classroom Transition The number of children participating in a group care setting has drastically risen over the past decade (U.S Department of Education 2007). In an Early Childhood setting challenging behavior may arise during transitional times (Hemmeter, Ostrosky, Artman Kinder, 2008). Transitions cause students to stop what they are doing, perform long chain of tasks, and begin a new activity, all without breaking classroom rules (McIntosh, Herman Sanford, 2004). Dealing with transitions multiple times a day in my own classroom setting has led me to the question: What strategies can teachers employ to decrease transition time and increase the amount of student time on task? Review of the Literature In 2004, Yarbrough, Skinner, and Lee investigated the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the students transitional time exceeded the time on the card, students would not receive a letter for that day. Thus, the dependent variable in this study was the students transitional time from the hallway to the classroom; the independent variable was the use of the TGG; and the measure was the duration of each transition. A withdrawal design was used to gauge the game s effectiveness. During the three day baseline phase, it took students more than 2.5 min to transition into the classroom each day. After the first intervention phase began, transitional time decreased to an average of 59 s, and no transition exceeded 2 min. (There were still 3 days, however, in which the students did not meet the criteria on the transition card.) The treatment phase ended when students earned their first party, and then the teacher withdrew the TGG. The first day without the TGG showed a minimal increase in transitional time, but the subsequent days showed a return to baseline levels. When the teacher reinstated the game, transitional times reduced again even to below initial treatment levels (range: 33 55 s). A short withdrawal produced a return to 7 baseline levels before the teacher permanently reinstated the TGG. Buck (1999) conducted a survey of teachers that used music in their classrooms to help students transition. Of the 360 teachers surveyed, Buck found 81 used music during transition times. Some teachers used music as a way to let students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God Rhetorical Analysis Revivalist preacher, Jonathan Edwards, in his sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , raves about the punishments that are in an unconverted sinners near future. Edwards purpose is to spark a religious revival in Puritan communities using fear as a motivator. He adopts a zealous tone in order to provoke emotional distress in his audience members that are out of Christ . In his sermon, Edwards uses numerous persuasive styles, including terrifying imagery and metaphors. Florence Kelley uses guilt invoking diction and an overall aggressive/accusatory tone to persuade her audience to stop child labor. The clever word choice used in her speech is one of the largest points that helped her emotionally influence her audience. Diminutive words such as tiny and little evoke guilt in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kelley illustrates pitiful images of tiny children trapped in the sweating system which allows these children to be cruelly abused. The powerful language which describes these children as little beasts of burden helps her prove her point child labor is making these children lose their humanity. These images of children as little beasts of burden show how child labor strips children of their humanity, forcing her audience to be no longer able to ignore the problem in their society. After wrapping around the audience s hearts with pity evoking words, she aggressively attacks them all, claiming that they are all part of the system that is turning innocent children into machine like beasts that have to toil throughout the night to satisfy the needs of the adult consumers. Kelley accuses her audience that no one in this room tonight can feel free from such participation in the system because they continue to buy the products produced through child labor, and choose to not vote against it. • 5. Salmonella – description, pathogenesis, symptoms Essay Salmonella description, pathogenesis, symptoms Salmonella is a gram negative bacillus that causes inflammation of the GI tract and in some cases, if the immune response is not sufficiently powerful and treatment is not administered, can become systemic and cause even more serious conditions throughout the body. After ingestion, these bacteria cause infection by invading the epithelial cells of the small intestine and macrophages. A bacterial disease of growing importance to the populace, 2 salmonella is a specialized invader of the gastrointestinal system that can cause a variety of painful conditions of varying severity. The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise (Gray and Fedorka Cray 56). The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen, and Vi antigen. The O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each salmonella bacillus may posses 2 or more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be destroyed by heat and enables the motility of the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295). The last antigen is known as the Vi antigen because this antigen is related the virulence of the bacterium. As a capsular antigen, its presence enhances the virulence of the bacterium that has it of all the sub species of Salmonella, only two, Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) typhi and S. choleraesuis, have the Vi antigen (296). • 8. Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through their submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the absurdities of life. According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a mud. He has the liberty to remain in this mud and thus lead a passive, supine, acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the choice to alleviate themselves out of their own misery or accept their stance in society. Meursault enters the doors of unhappiness after he fired four more times at the motionless body . Despite being aware that he shattered the harmony of the day , he accepts his crimes and the consequences he may endure because of it. Unlike the French society that disregards all responsibility of imposing violence among the Arabs, Meursault admits to his faults and surrenders himself to a lifetime of despair. Hence, through his consciousness Meursault enlightens himself to defy social norms and continue to choose his own path in life. Subsequently, Meursault embraces his consequences as he pleads guilty to his crime. After being sentenced to death, Meursault experiences an epiphany as he realizes that it is through hatred and condemnation from others that brings justice to his crimes: For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution ... Changes In Fahrenheit 451 In Ray Braudbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag undergoes major changes because of the influence of other intellects and events; in effect this caused him to ruminate about events that were considered normal . Montag s occupation is firefighting, however he is not the traditional version of a fire fighter. Montag does not put out fire, but rather helps ignite them. This is considered ordinary within his society because they are not allowed to read books or have knowledge previous to this era. This law is enforced with such intensity because the government fears that knowledge in one s mind will contribute to overthrowing whoever is in control or has the most power within the society. However this does not stop a few individuals (including Montag) to pose threats to the government by reading and by posing questions. Within the beginning of the novel, one of the major people that sparked a change in Guy Montag was the exquisitely observant Clarisse McClellan. Physicist like Maxwell, Newton, Fermi, Chadwick, and Kepler, have made a strong impact on how people see the world today. These fundamental forces are what goes on in everyday life and what we still see till this day. The point we are going to get to are the coming about of these theories and how they are seen in the outside world and also in physics. In my paper I will be splitting up how the scientist/physicist came to contribute to the fundamental forces and how each scientist came to contribute to the coming and discovery of each force. In the second part of the paper I will be describing how each force strong and weak are used in nature. These topics will help anyone in the search for information on the topic of forces that came to be due to physics. History of the fundamental forces In 1605 Kepler published the laws of planetary motion which included 3 laws. First law was that every planet is an ellipse with the sun. Second a line segment connecting a planet and the sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. Lastly the third law which states that the time it takes for a planet to orbit the Sun increases rapidly corresponding with the radius of the planets orbit. These laws came to help the ... Johnson inherited the war from Kennedy in 1963 and it was his responsibility to lead America through the Vietnam war and stop communism, he planned was to escalate the war. The media put pressure on the government as it made people question what they were doing and it produced guilt for people, this then led people putting more pressure on the government. At the time of this, the media had many different methods in letting people know what was happening and therefore they were able to reach more people. They used pictures, articles and most importantly they televised what was happening. If the media did not have the right resources to do all of this, US policies might have not changed as they did because each president would have used as much power and weapons as they wanted on Vietnam because people would not know the truth of what was happening as only sugar coated news by the government would have reached ... • 16. Economic And Social Conditions On The Health Of People And... From the Lecture: 1. Many health outcomes such as obesity, average life expectancy, the infant mortality are directly related to the inequality within a society. Poor health and poverty are directly related to each other as the poverty level increases the health outcomes worsens. Inequality causes. We all know that people who live in poorer countries live shorter lives and this is directly related to the inequality. Unequally access to the healthcare, food, housing, education. Job that does not come with stress. 2. I think that economic and social conditions effect the health of people and communities. Economic and social conditions are resulted by the amount of money people have, by power, and by available resources and all of these are influenced by the policies. In short, if you are closer to the top of the chart, you are healthier because you have access to the resources to stay healthy which are good education, a job that pays good, quality healthcare, nutrition, housing, social support, and of course no discrimination. 3. When I think about illness is socially constructed the first thing that comes to my mind how the society sees the evilness and how people define it and how they react it. In homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern, receiver noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage of coverage hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network. Whereas small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage hole and to provide mobility to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits, current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS achieves near optimal performance. Researchers are now moving towards more advanced heterogeneous network topology which will bring the network more closely to the mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49]. HetNets will significantly improve the spectral efficiency per unit area by utilizing a diverse set of BSs. 1.4 Elements of Heterogeneous Network Heterogeneous deployment need to use innovative cell association and inter celling interference coordination techniques in order to realize the promised capacity and coverage gains. This is only one of many examples of how we waste power and Carbon dioxide. Almost everything we do releases carbon dioxide emissions, and in different amounts. We can save money and CO2 by reducing our carbon footprints, which is the total quantity of greenhouse gases that someone produces. Although we don t think about them very often, a carbon footprint is part of everyone s life because it s measured on things we use, our actions create and waste CO2, and several people have worked to find energy saving ways to reduce them and help the environment. A carbon footprint is measured by using several different variables about someone s lifestyle. It s important to note that depending on where someone may live influences their impact on their carbon footprint. Just as Stephanie Pappas mentioned; In California, for example, electricity generation is relatively climate friendly, so focusing on vehicular emissions has a greater impact . Many of these characters are oblivious to various aspects of life such as: a destructive lifestyle, hope, and love, and are able to create temporary but powerful happiness opposed to people who are grounded by the brutal reality. The 1920 s lifestyle was recklessness and exuberant. The causation of the recklessness was caused from a familiar substance, alcohol. Alcoholism in story symbolizes blindness in the story and is similar to the affects of life. The much feared civilization began by the exile of one of the two Toltec leaders, which lead to the decline of the Toltec state that was later replaced by Mexica, or the Aztecs. According to the Aztecs, the land chosen to build their main city was chosen by the portrayal of an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its mouth. The selfless act the gods committed led to one of the major reasons for human sacrifices which was that since the gods gave up their own life for the creation of the new world, that the Aztecs had to somehow respect and honor their action. They did this by creating an eighteen month calendar, which dedicated each month to a certain god. The Aztecs used scared and solar calendars to tell time and when all the possible combinations had been used, usually every fifty two years, the Aztecs would go through a twelve day period before the cycle started again (Benson 506). There were many different methods the Aztecs used to sacrifice their victims but most sacrifices centered on the method of heart extraction. The victims were, thrust onto the stone, where a temple priest cut through their chest wall with a ritual flint knife, and the heart was, [offered] to the sun for vitality and nourishment, ( Aztec Human Sacrifices ). There was also the act of burning the victim alive in the sacrificial fire but before they reached death they were taken out and their heart would be taken out (Callery 33). Victims were not the only ones that were sacrificed; priests also conducted a method of sacrifice called bloodletting. • 48. Misrepresentation Of Women In The Media Miss Representation conveys that media is derogative to the most powerful women in the United States. People learn more from the media than any other source because it is the message and messenger. Americans devote about 10 hours and 39 minutes daily to consuming media (Howard). The media s misrepresentation of women in movies, television shows, and advertisements negatively shapes politics, our national discourse, children s inquisitive minds, and ultimately society. The danger behind these stereotyped images of women is that their effect is subconscious, meaning we slowly become accustomed to a sexist portrayal of women without even immediately realizing it. To cease our unrealistic, prejudiced expectations of women, a culture change is necessary. Early on, adolescents get the message that a woman s worth is mostly based on her looks, not her intelligence. This norm is harmful to girls because they end up comparing themselves to an impossible standard and feel ashamed when they cannot achieve it. Conversely, boys end up judging real women much more harshly and start treating them like objects. Because adolescents have different interpretive and emotional abilities from the rest of society, they are a particularly vulnerable group of people. They are often exposed to the things they see in movies, television shows, and video games with little to no mediation.
