ABSTRACT
Buchi Emecheta is one of the growing numbers of African women writers who have set their authorial
eyes on the conditions of women living both on their home continent and abroad. She takes her place
among Tsitsi Dangarembga, Miriama Ba, Bessie Head, Ama Ata Aidoo, Lauretta Ngcobo, and Lindsey
Collen, to name a few, as writers who have formed an intense new voice of African womanhood.
Emecheta has published more than twenty works; including the novels Double Yoke, The Bride Price,
Head above Water, Destination Biafra, and Kehinde. Each is an exploration of what it means to be a
woman and a mother in rapidly evolving societies where traditions and mores are in a constant state of
flux. While some of her novels mirror her own experience as an expatriate living in London, her work
mostly focuses on her native country of Nigeria. The Joys of Motherhood is among her most pivotal
works, as it offers critical commentary on colonialism, tradition, capitalism, and women s roles as they
come to affect one woman, Nnu Ego, and her family
Key words: African women writers, expatriation, motherhood, colonialism, women s role

Flags Of Our Fathers Essay example
One of the most famous photographs in history was taken by Joe Rosenthal at the Battle of Iwo Jima,
during the Second World War. The American people on a whole embraced this photo and saw it as a
firm success for the army, so the government knowing that the war needed lots of added funds decided
to cease this opportunity and sent the survivors of the flag razing on a propaganda based bond drive
for the army. Clint Eastwood in the way he directed the film showed just how different an image of
war is compared to a real war. Clint Eastwood allowed the viewer to get an insight to all three
survivors of the photo and this gave an insight to how the war on Iwo Jima and the image that gave
them a entirely different course in the war. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is one scene where the three flag raisers entered a crowded stadium before a football game
which typified how an image of war can be so different to the reality of war. The flash photography,
the cheering, the roar of the crowd all went to John Bradley s head and he had flash backs of the
fighting on Iwo Jima and the genuine heroes that he had left behind. This scene contrasts what the
reality of war, were all the men are dug in and fighting for there life, and the images of war. Ira Hayes
says I know it s a good thing, raising the money and that, cause we need it. But, I can t take them
calling me a hero. All I did was try not to get shot. Some of the things I saw done, things I did, they
weren t things to be proud of, you know? Clint Eastwood shows continuously, through his characters
physiology shows how one single photo can be so different what really makes up the battle of Iwo
Jima. The aim was to get war bonds; the minds of the three main characters through Clint Eastwood s
directing showed a strong insight to how the reality of a war and an image of war can be so
contrasting.
The movie Flags of our Fathers is based on the book written by James Bradley, the son of the flag
bearer John Bradley. To have so much confusion and misinformation behind what was believed to be a

war and this image of war that was used as if it was

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
The collapse of the Soviet Union can ultimately be attributed to three broad, complex, and
interconnected issues: The economy, Leadership, and Geography. All three of theses factors are
interconnected and each contain several reasons why they contributed to the ultimate collapse of the
Soviet Union. The first and most simple reason the Soviet Union failed can be attributed to their
geographical challenges. The Soviet Union suffered two problems in regard to geographic challenges.
Firstly the country itself was far too vast, and its influence spread too far for there to be an easy to
spread authority (Suny). With such as large state to control there was realistically no feasible way that
influence from Moscow could control a large territory from Central Asia to Eastern Europe. This is a
territory that contained various amounts of ethnicities, religions, and cultures. In an obvious
perspective larger an state gets the harder it is to be controlled. Analytically speaking it is rather
impossible to control such a territory from a central authority. With the Soviet centrally commanded
system, authority from Moscow could not be spread vastly without a consequential use of money and
resources. Secondly The Soviet Union was blessed with an abundance of natural resources. At first
glance it would be easy to view this abundance of resources as a blessing for a powerful nation.
However from a historical angle the Soviet Union was trapped in resource curse. A resource curse

Using Information From Websites, As It Will Give Me...
1.0 Methods
For this report, I will mainly use information from websites, as it will give me information about anti
bribery policies. I will also use a website called Harvard reference to give the reader an easier
understanding on what I will be reporting on. I will use BBC website as well to know the recent
bribery act that has lately happened to an organisation and what anti bribery does to other
organisation.
2.0 Introduction
The purpose of this report is to know more about, the meaning of anti bribery and what the policy
intends to achieve on an organisation that I have chosen. By doing research on recently published
journal articles, newspapers and internet sites on the topic about anti bribery, this report will describes,
what the policies intends to do and the employees that will be affected with the policies. Anti bribery
helps the operations of one organisation to detect or prevent the corruption inside one organisation.
3.0 How to prevent bribery?
The most effective way to prevent bribery is to have an anti corruption program, this is important to a
big organisation. This will enforce some of the actions and will change the penalties to bribery to an
organisation.
Year 2011 UK Bribery Act of 2010 leads many organisations to re evaluate their anti corruption
program, even do companies that have general policies and procedures to comply with the UK Bribery
Act [Kenneth Clarke. (2011)]. This Act not only covers bribery of UK government officials but it also

Luxury Goods Serve A Purpose
Introduction Luxury goods serve a purpose that extends way beyond functionality and need. A bag
that costs $15,000 or a pair of shoes priced at $500 does not necessarily signal that they perform better
than goods priced significantly lower. The disproportionate prices of luxury goods reflect so much
more than the eye can see, the history behind the brand, the story that it tells, and the scarcity and
exclusivity it aims to achieve in the mind of the consumer. A premium brand, by contrast, can
generally be described as a good that a customer pays more for because they are getting higher quality
product. Luxury brands are not inherently inferior because they do not offer higher functionality.
Sometime signaling the belonging to an exclusive group is important to a person, and thus worth the
monetary cost. A premium product, though, is a good that people are willing to pay more because they
believe they get more, whether that is higher quality or better performance. A customer does not
purchase a luxury product because they know it will perform better, they purchase it because of the
status and appearance that it signals to those around them. The distinction between luxury and
premium is significant because many brands are unsure of where they want to position themselves. In
order for a high end brand to be successful it needs to position themselves as either providing some
benefit that justifies the price, or as a fantasy that the customer needs to pay for to be a part of.

Memo of Dollar General
Relevant Economic Trends With the exception of supercenters such as Costco and BJ s, the fastest
growing portion of the overall retail industry in the United States during the past decade has been in
the dollar store segment. From 2000 2005 dollar stores had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR)
of 10.2% which was nearly double the 5.6% CAGR in the retail industry as a whole. Sales from these
discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more than double to $51.1 billion in
2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. The first was a cultural shift in
consumers towards a bargain based mentality. This was spurred by an increased presence of retailers
with a low cost strategy including Wal Mart, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They emphasize the use of even dollar prices on most items to conveniently make it easy for
customers to track how much they are spending before they get to the checkout line. This coupled
with their focused assortment of quality goods allows easy in and out shopping and saves the customer
time. DG competes against big box retailers such as Wal Mart through price and convenience rather
than price and selection. The average DG store is 6,900 square feet with about 4,900 stock keeping
units (SKUs) serving customers who live within five miles of the store. The average Wal Mart on the
other hand is over 100,000 square feet containing more than 75,000 SKUs and serves many customers
living more than five miles away. Strategically limiting the number of brands and sizes as well as
purchasing fast turning SKUs gives DG the leverage to negotiate low purchase prices when bargaining
with suppliers based on the higher volume of individual SKUs being purchased. This allows them to
offer competitive prices while achieving price parity with big box retailers selling the same items and
on occasion even beating these competitor s prices. Focusing on both price and convenience also
allows DG to compete and differentiate themselves from other small convenience, discount, and
drugstore retailers who typically focus on either price or convenience but

The Egyptian Revolution
The Egyptian Revolution started due to the people s discontent towards the government of Hosni
Mubarak. Grievances of Egyptian protesters were focused on legal and political issues including
police brutality, state of emergency laws, lack of free elections and freedom of speech, corruption, and
economic issues including high unemployment, food price inflation and low wages. Soon after the
overthrown of Mubarak s government Morsi was elected in a democratic way. A coup d état led by the
Minister of defense General Abdel Fattah El Sisi overthrew Morsi and massive popular
demonstrations against military rule started.
Egypt is facing a deep threat to human rights due to violent confrontations between the Egyptian
Government and the revolutionary groups. Navi Pillay has stated her worry about Egyptian people
when in a press communication said: [she] hopes that the rule of law and a system of government that
respects the human rights of all Egyptians men and women can be quickly re established . Several
experts have voiced their concern in regard of the way human rights have been dismissed by several
people; they stated the death poll have raised over 600 including women, young people, and members
of the media. These serious violations of international human rights law must not remain unpunished,
they underscored.
During the Egyptian Revolution the United Nations have had a passive role in which they have not
interact in the most formidable way to approach this conflict.

Reflection Paper On Cheers
It was March 2017, and the tryout cheers had just been put on Moodle. I had already been practicing
my tumbling skills at Corner House for about five months, but I still wasn t confident with my skills.
We had cheer camp for the next week to go over the cheers and how the tryout process was going to
go. During the week I had gotten pretty good at the cheers but I lost my running tumbling from being
so nervous. This made me so scared for tryouts and I thought for sure I wasn t going to make the team,
especially compared to other girls who had outstanding tumbling skills. I knew that now I couldn t
rely on my tumbling to get me on the team so I focused on my jumps and cheers. It was the night
before tryouts and I couldn t sleep because of my nerves. Later that night at around 3:00 AM, I threw
up from thinking about it so much. I stayed up the rest of the night practicing my cheers as quietly as I
could without waking my sister or my parents up.
When it was finally time to go to the tryouts I was getting ready and now I was worried I was going to
be late even though I had plenty of time. While I was putting my hair up in a ponytail, I wasn t able to
get it up without hair sticking out on the sides. Once I realized I was just going to have to deal with it,
I started putting my bow in. I was rushing because I lost a lot of time with all the times of trying to get
my ponytail perfect. I was twisting my bow around for the third time to get a tight fit and the rubber

The World Is Changing And The Environment
Introduction
The world is changing and the environment we are living in is becoming very competitive by the day.
Considering the work environment of this changing world, both the employees and employers at the
workplace are facing a lot of risk issues, regarding this rapid change in the economy and society
followed by the overpowering competition. In order to sustain in the business market and meet the
consumer demands, the organizations and the employers are required to come up with new methods
and unbeatable prices of products. Moreover due to the emergence of globalisation, these
organizations are bound to apply cost cutting approach (lower wage approach), which influences the
shifts in workforce composition, labour utilization and labour demand. (Rani, 2000) This shift leads to
what can be defined as labour flexibility . According to Standing (1999), the term can be defined as a
rise in new technologies, development of more complex labour control structures, participation of
labours throughout the world with the help of globalisation.
The more complex definitions and theories of labour flexibility will be discussed later in this essay. I
am writing this essay to portray how labour flexibility has given rise to international human resource
management and how globalization plays a vital role in the emergence of the former two concepts. In
my essay I will first introduce globalization, since it has been a very important topic of discussion in
the international human

First Confederate Flag
It is quite hard to answer this question, because the confederates have more than one flag. There exists
the first confederate flag which is blue with one white star. Next there are two versions of the first
confederate national flag. Both with red and white stripes and blue square on top left corner, one with
seven stars forming a circle, the other with thirteen stars forming a circle. Then there is the
confederate battle flag, which is the one most people have seen, it exhibits a red background with a
blue X as well as thirteen stars to compose it. This flag was first brought into battle in December 1861.
The war between the Confederate and the Union was fought because the south had wanted to succeed
from the north to become its own country.

Frost At Midnight Critical Analysis
Coleridge frequently explores the relationship and interactions between humanity and nature in his
poetry. His poems, particularly his conversation poem Frost at Midnight , allows the reader into his
internal thoughts between the two groups. Coleridge shows how the thinking of the mind is mirrored
in nature and how patterns repeat to reveal universal aspects in poetry, thoughts, and nature. Coleridge
uses nature to capture the mind s movement. Frost is the means that begins the poem and is how the
structure of the poem is assembled. The poem contains organic, repeating fractal patterns with small
variations within them similar to how frost is propagated. These patterns exist throughout nature in
honeycombs, mountains, clouds, and leaves. Repetition is also seen between the speaker of the poem,
Coleridge, and his infant son, Hartley. Repetition exists here as Harley is, in some way, a replica of
Coleridge as children can be seen as versions of their parents. But Coleridge also points out how he
and his son are different as well. Coleridge wants his son to be intimately familiar with nature by
saying With tender gladness, thus to look at thee, / And think that thou shalt learn far other lore / And
in far other scenes! (lines 49 51). Coleridge is going to make sure that his son will enjoy nature and
not have the experience he had in the city. The alliteration of the Th sound in thus to look at thee, /
And think that thou (lines 49 50) also draws the reader to these

The Missing Plane, Malaysia Airlines Flight Mh370
In the modern democracy world, political game is no longer a game of one to many rather many to
one. Many parties see the need of employing communication professionals to develop a more efficient
campaign with favourly publicity. These communication professionals are known as the spin doctor or
Public Relations (PR) expert in dealing with the mass media to mobilize and steer public opinion
(Louw, 2010).
This article addresses the role and the relationship of spin doctoring with other players take part in
mass media, with two case studies demonstrated: one being successful and one being unsuccessful
spin. The successful spin will be shown using the example of the Islamic State Group in Syria and Iraq
(ISIS). On the other hand, the unsuccessful one will be using the handling case of the missing plane,
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. A summary of the key concepts relevant to this article will also be
provided, followed by what led to the success and the failure of the two campaigns mentioned will be
analyzed.
The term spin doctor consists of a symbolic relationship with journalists and mass media. Both need
each other in order to generate and disseminate information within the media machine. A good spin
team knows what works is the best to hook the intended audiences, be it a mass audience or the
journalist (Louw, 2010). They write scripts for politicians or other performers and crafted favourbly

England Court System
The court system in England and Wales originated during the Anglo Saxon period. Back then local
men gathered in Moot Courts, deciding on issues in line with local customs. Piece by piece the system
became more sophisticated, which can be seen clearly after a brief overview on its evolution and
evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages.
After the Norman Conquest, certain cases were brought before the King (Coram Rege in Latin), later
the King started to delegate the power to administer Royal Justice to a council. This council was
known as the King s Court (Curia Regis in Latin), which later branched into the common law courts.
At first the Exchequer of pleas, Common Pleas and the King s Bench, followed by the Court of
Chancery in the mid 14th century. The Judicature Acts of 1873 and 1875 modernised the court
structure drastically. Introducing, the Supreme Court of Judicature also known as the House of Lords,
as a final court of Appeal above the High Court. Along with the creation of a single Court of Appeal in
Civil matters.
Furthermore, the introduction of a new improved divisional structure for the High Court. This was
finalised in 1881 with the merge of Common pleas and Exchequer into the Queens Bench Division.
The Criminal Appeal Act 1907 recognised the right of appeal in criminal cases and established the
Court of Criminal Appeal.
Continuing the modernisation, the Courts Act 1971 abolished and replaced various courts. At the same
time the Act created the

Quite honestly, there just is not a whole lot to say about the new Pirates of the Caribbean film, the
franchise s fifth entry. Dubbed Dead Men Tell No Tales, this all feels like second verse same as the
first with Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow, a few cameos popping up from previous films,
and a mashup of previous characters and new ones. Largely, we have a fifth film because the fourth
film, 2011 s On Stranger Tides, may have grossed $180 million less in North America than the biggest
success in the series thus far, 2006 s Dead Man s Chest, but cleared more than $1 billion worldwide.
Disney has financed the film for more than $230 million, so clearly they want all the money. But,

Study on Administration Errors for Woodcock-Johnson III...
This study examined administration and scoring errors made by graduate students when administering
the Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Cognitive Abilities (WJ III COG). In the past studies have been
conducted on graduate student errors made on other assessment of cognitive abilities, such as the
Wechsler Scales. This study s findings were similar to previous studies. The study participants
consisted of 36 graduate students who attended a school psychology program at a metropolitan
university. There were 31 females and 5 males, of which there were 30 Caucasian, 4 Latino, 1 Asian
and 1 African American. All of the students were first year students, enrolled in cognitive assessment
courses taught by the same professor (Ramos, 2009, pp. 653). All students were required to administer
the WJ III COG 4 times, first to a classmate, and then 3 more times to volunteers. The first
administration for each student was not considered for the study, which produced 108 testing
administrations. These administrations and scores were then examined by advanced level graduate
students taught by the same professor. The instrument used for scoring the administrations was a
checklist first created by Schermerhorn and Alfonso, and was designed to record the frequency and
types of errors made during the administration and scoring of the test (Ramos, 2009, pp. 653). After
each of the 108 tests were scored using the checklist, it was found that there were 500 errors made.

area would have been combed and questions asked until the shooter was found. Special police dogs
would have helped locate. If the university had security surveillance cameras, the motion pictures
would have aided during the search.

The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music Essay
The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music
I believe that it would be difficult for someone to make the argument that Negro spirituals have not
been influential in the field of music, much less the realm of gospel music today. However, church
members often do not make the time to reflect on the heritage of a hymn or song to realize the
meaning that the particular piece has carried with it through the decades, even centuries. With this in
mind, I am going to look at the history of the Negro spiritual and then at specific hymns in the 1991
Baptist Hymnal, published by Convention Press, to see just what impact the Negro spiritual has had
on today s church music. I believe that we will find that these songs have had a ... Show more content

At first, however, slaves were not using their music to glorify the God worshipped by their masters.
Obviously, they had brought their religion with them, one considered pagan and inappropriate by
Christians in the American colonies. Christian missionaries were very disapproving regarding the
religious practices of the slaves, and they began to verbalize their disapproval and work to convert the
new African slaves. Seventeenth century author Morgan Godwin describes their religious practices
thus: . . . nothing is more barbarous, and contrary to Christianity, than their . . . Idolatrous Dances, and
Revels; in which they usually spend the Sunday . . . And here, that I may not be thought too rashly to
impute Idolatry to their Dances, my Conjecture is raised upon this ground . . . for that they use their
Dances as a means to procure Rain: Some of them having been known to beg this Liberty upon the
Week Days, in order thereunto (qtd. in Maultsby 3). Apparently, slave owners did not immediately set
out to influence the religious practices of their slaves; however, it would not be long before the
masters began to insist that their slaves practice their religion, Christianity.
I have found very little regarding the reception of the Africans to Christianity; nevertheless, they were

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life;
however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his
famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed
as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen.
Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at
the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the
houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all
over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By
the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic
style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de
venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues
and dramatic expressions.
At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend.
Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all
genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte. In
1791, he contracted the rheumatic inflammatory fever and passed away early at the age

it, as if it had fallen from the heavens and the air around had become thick and sweet. All the children
wanted to find the star but we were all told it was just a story but no longer will it just be a story I will
find the star and wish for my village back. It was 7 years ago it was a plain ordinary day in my home
village of Treydelle all the children were outside playing me being one of them and the elders we re
having a meeting the all of a sudden we saw flames red fiery flames the kind that would destroy
anything in its way and it was headed for us we were all told to evacuate but everyone was paralyzed
in fear .I ran I was the only one who did it s like the fire had control over everyone it wanted control
of except me. I was the sole survivor of my village I don t who started the fire but I will take my
vengeance on them whoever they are.The story I was told said that the star was on the west side of
Webbrute a village it s easy to walk to because it s near my former village,I need supplies from the
village the only reason I survived this long is because Treydelle was famous for its livestock and
farming we carrots as orange as the colour and tomatoes as red as the flames that destroyed my village
I hate those tomatoes . As I go on my Quest I should be prepared for anything bandits, monsters but I
didn t care anything or anybody could come for the star but they would get because I will beat them to
it .On my way to Webbrute I felt a presence behind me when I turned around I saw nothing I must just
be paranoid. All of a sudden I felt another presence it s like someone wants me to become paranoid is
someone there I screamed no nobody s here a groggy male voice said .Idiot is he that stupid or maybe
he s drunk well I guess I ll find out knock knock who s there the voice said overly joyful shut up you ll
get us found out a second angry voice growled oops sorry I

3. Formulate and solve the model for the following problem:
Irwin Textile Mills produces two types of cotton cloth denim and corduroy. Corduroy is a heavier
grade of cotton cloth and, as such, requires 8 pounds of raw cotton per yard, whereas denim requires 6
pounds of raw cotton per yard. A yard of corduroy requires 4 hours of processing time; a yard od
denim requires 3.0 hours. Although the demand for denim is practically unlimited, the maximum
demand for corduroy is 510 yards per month. The manufacturer has 6,500 pounds of cotton and 3,000
hours of processing time available each month. The manufacturer makes a profit of $2.5 per yards of
denim and $3.25 per yard of corduroy. The manufacturer wants to know how many yards of each type
of cloth to produce to maximize profit. Formulate the model and put into standard form. Solve it

Complimentary goods are often sold in salons such as shampoos, brushes, and gels or sprays, these
contribute revenue and many people purchase things because a stylist recommends them, similar to if
a dentist recommends certain toothpaste. Popular industry wide trends emerging are discounts on
children s haircuts, discounts for men getting haircuts and also getting shaved, and women getting
discounts for getting a combination or services such as washing, dyeing, and cutting. Businesses are
always exiting and entering the field, which is a testament to their service, good service and you will
probably last, bad service and after the word
Hot Heads Salon 6 spreads you will be lucky to make it out of the month in business. A multiple of
things affect businesses coming and going such as the threat of new entrants, rivalry among
competitors, and the threat of substitutes. Since there are so many shops often people can just go to
another shop which is why you have to distinguish yourself, with new entrants always around the
corner you have to make sure you establish a good location and customer base, this is what will keep
you in business and successful. Since shops come by the dozens there is often competition and

The Simpsons Episode, Two Cars In Every Garage And Three...
The writers in The Simpsons episode, Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish
suggest that it is okay for big businessmen to bribe/buy people and play with people s insecurities in
order to get what they want. The writers of the simpsons support these suggestions with the character
Mr. Burns. Mr. Burns is a big business man he owns a poorly run nuclear facility. A fish with three
eyes is found outside the plant in a pond. A news reporter sees it and it becomes a big deal. Now
health inspectors come and inspect the plant Mr. Burns tries to bribe the man so he does not have to
pay the inspector could not be bought. The cost to fix everything in the plant is fifty six million and

Habitus By Bourdieu
The article Bourdieu and Habitus was not easy to read, but I found it enlightening as it helped to
reinforce my understanding of Bourdieu s concept of habitus by comparing and relating different roles
and norms of society. The term habitus derives from the Latin verb hebre meaning to have or to hold
(Swartz, 2002, p. 615), the concept grows out of Bourdieu s attempt to address the question, how the
human action follow regular pattern without being the product to some external structure, such as
cultural norms? The concept of habitus invites one to think of human practices as regulated by
transposable dispositions rather than cultural norms or by conscious attentions. The term dispositions
is key for Bourdieu, for it suggests a way of thinking about habit that is clearly different and more
active from the more popular idea of absolute repetition or routine. ... Show more content on

170), Referring to the text, Bourdieu does not see human action generating from habitus alone, There
is more to human action than dispositions formed in the past. Hence, Bourdieu employs two additional
concepts to complete his model of human practices; capital and field. Bourdieu has identified different
kinds of capitals, economic, social, cultural and symbolic being the principal ones that are unequally
distributed across the social

Grievances Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was written to declare that America would be free and that it would
no longer be under the rule of King George III. The declaration has a total of twenty seven grievances
which are complaints towards the King and the government of Britain. One of the many grievances
stated in the declaration is that He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the
Consent of our legislature . This whole process began towards the beginning of 1763. After the Seven
Years War ended in February 1763, the king did not withdraw the British troops from America.
Instead, he left a lot of the troops in America forcing the colonists to house and support them.
According to colonialhall.com, the troops stayed in America in order to enforce the laws; especially
with the new taxes that were about to take place. Although the troops did help by protecting colonists
and enforcing the laws, it was unnecessary for them to stay. The colonists knew how to defend
themselves so there was really no reason for this. It seemed that the King did this, not just to enforce
laws, but also to make them fearful so that they would surrender to him. Although the Kings intentions
were to get the colonists to appease to him, that did not happen. This only made the colonists fear that
they would lose all their rights and it made them angry with the King. Jefferson wrote that if the King
did indeed have the right to keep standing armies in the colonies during times of

the Death of Benny Paret Rhetoric Anaylsis
There is a difference between dying an honorable and noble death and simply dying. It is the gap
between trying and giving up and it is the sense of the unbearable pleasure that comes along with
success. In Norman Mailer s The Death of Benny Paret , the author witnesses a first hand account of
the tragic death of the boxer, Paret. Through many rhetorical devices, Mailer is able to have an effect
on his audience, allowing them to feel the same horror. Mailer uses diction to mold the events in a
biased and respectful way. Using words like inspired to describe the kind of shame that Paret was
creating by loosing makes his failure seem less crucial. Again, the author makes euphemisms through
his word choice by saying that Paret [fought] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Bullying In High School
Bill Gates once said, Be nice to nerds. Chances are you ll end up working for one. I wish that I had
heard this quote before I went to high school. I spent the first part of my education needing some
inspiration similar to this. To explain, I was bullied in Elementary School. From Kindergarten to Fifth
Grade, I was teased because I was too smart. There were several times that I would hide on the back of
the bus crying after a full day of insults. There was one boy at my school that was the worst. His name
was Chaska Lacey. Chaska loved making new insults and nicknames every day to insult my
intelligence. And it wasn t always at school either. Once I was jogging through the town of Waverly in
order to stay in shape for basketball season. I was running at a decently consistent pace before I passed
Chaska and his younger brother, Jolon. I kept on running because I didn t want to talk to him. He
started following and shouting abuse at me. He said things such as, Hey, Booky. I didn t know that you
could do anything except read. Look at those legs. I didn t think that running was even possible for
someone that spent that much time doing homework. Can you teach me to read, please? I eventually
out ran him, however it wasn t before his words made me feel that people didn t know who I was.
People only saw that I was a pair of glasses stuck in a book. I know that what he told me was not
incredibly rude, but it still hurt me. I wanted for someone to realize that I was much more

The four main Structural Subsystems were as such: Exterior columns taking vertical loads, Interior
core Columns which carried vertical loads through the core and protected lift shafts, Composite Truss
system which allowed for larger areas of floor space to be created between the exterior columns and
the core, and the Hat Truss on top of both WTC1 and WTC2 designed to redistribute the load applied
on top of the respective roofs through the columns more equally (McAllister, Sadek, Gross, Averill,
Gann, 2013). . For further background information relating to the Structural systems, please refer to
the Proposal Report.
This Project will improve the Students own Engineering judgement and critical thinking skills. With
different parts of the project having specific benefits to respective components of making a good
Structural Engineer; these components are perhaps best expressed in the Section 2 of this report, as it
shows progress so far. Predominantly the first part of the project revolves around making assumptions
and simplifications of the structural model and its loading; to try and find the most accurate, yet
computationally efficient, building blocks from which the results will be found after an impact
damage is inputted to the model. The Second part of this project will concern the collapse sequence of
the WTC after the plane impact occurred, and the resulting re distribution of load combining with

  • 2. Buchi Emecheta Analysis BUCHI EMECHETA: THE NIGERIAN VOICE OF WOMANHOOD SOUMYA.S J Guest Lecturer in English KMSM DB College, Sasthamcotta, Kerala, India Email: sjsoumyaa@gmail.com Mob: 08606432701 ABSTRACT Buchi Emecheta is one of the growing numbers of African women writers who have set their authorial eyes on the conditions of women living both on their home continent and abroad. She takes her place among Tsitsi Dangarembga, Miriama Ba, Bessie Head, Ama Ata Aidoo, Lauretta Ngcobo, and Lindsey Collen, to name a few, as writers who have formed an intense new voice of African womanhood. Emecheta has published more than twenty works; including the novels Double Yoke, The Bride Price, Head above Water, Destination Biafra, and Kehinde. Each is an exploration of what it means to be a woman and a mother in rapidly evolving societies where traditions and mores are in a constant state of flux. While some of her novels mirror her own experience as an expatriate living in London, her work mostly focuses on her native country of Nigeria. The Joys of Motherhood is among her most pivotal works, as it offers critical commentary on colonialism, tradition, capitalism, and women s roles as they come to affect one woman, Nnu Ego, and her family Key words: African women writers, expatriation, motherhood, colonialism, women s role INTRODUCTION Buchi Emecheta, the pioneering Nigerian ... • 3. Flags Of Our Fathers Essay example One of the most famous photographs in history was taken by Joe Rosenthal at the Battle of Iwo Jima, during the Second World War. The American people on a whole embraced this photo and saw it as a firm success for the army, so the government knowing that the war needed lots of added funds decided to cease this opportunity and sent the survivors of the flag razing on a propaganda based bond drive for the army. Clint Eastwood in the way he directed the film showed just how different an image of war is compared to a real war. Clint Eastwood allowed the viewer to get an insight to all three survivors of the photo and this gave an insight to how the war on Iwo Jima and the image that gave them a entirely different course in the war. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is one scene where the three flag raisers entered a crowded stadium before a football game which typified how an image of war can be so different to the reality of war. The flash photography, the cheering, the roar of the crowd all went to John Bradley s head and he had flash backs of the fighting on Iwo Jima and the genuine heroes that he had left behind. This scene contrasts what the reality of war, were all the men are dug in and fighting for there life, and the images of war. Ira Hayes says I know it s a good thing, raising the money and that, cause we need it. But, I can t take them calling me a hero. All I did was try not to get shot. Some of the things I saw done, things I did, they weren t things to be proud of, you know? Clint Eastwood shows continuously, through his characters physiology shows how one single photo can be so different what really makes up the battle of Iwo Jima. The aim was to get war bonds; the minds of the three main characters through Clint Eastwood s directing showed a strong insight to how the reality of a war and an image of war can be so contrasting. The movie Flags of our Fathers is based on the book written by James Bradley, the son of the flag bearer John Bradley. To have so much confusion and misinformation behind what was believed to be a victory for the American forces which was the platform to show the contrasts between the realities of war and this image of war that was used as if it was ... • 4. The Collapse Of The Soviet Union The collapse of the Soviet Union can ultimately be attributed to three broad, complex, and interconnected issues: The economy, Leadership, and Geography. All three of theses factors are interconnected and each contain several reasons why they contributed to the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union. The first and most simple reason the Soviet Union failed can be attributed to their geographical challenges. The Soviet Union suffered two problems in regard to geographic challenges. Firstly the country itself was far too vast, and its influence spread too far for there to be an easy to spread authority (Suny). With such as large state to control there was realistically no feasible way that influence from Moscow could control a large territory from Central Asia to Eastern Europe. This is a territory that contained various amounts of ethnicities, religions, and cultures. In an obvious perspective larger an state gets the harder it is to be controlled. Analytically speaking it is rather impossible to control such a territory from a central authority. With the Soviet centrally commanded system, authority from Moscow could not be spread vastly without a consequential use of money and resources. Secondly The Soviet Union was blessed with an abundance of natural resources. At first glance it would be easy to view this abundance of resources as a blessing for a powerful nation. However from a historical angle the Soviet Union was trapped in resource curse. A resource curse being an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Using Information From Websites, As It Will Give Me... 1.0 Methods For this report, I will mainly use information from websites, as it will give me information about anti bribery policies. I will also use a website called Harvard reference to give the reader an easier understanding on what I will be reporting on. I will use BBC website as well to know the recent bribery act that has lately happened to an organisation and what anti bribery does to other organisation. 2.0 Introduction The purpose of this report is to know more about, the meaning of anti bribery and what the policy intends to achieve on an organisation that I have chosen. By doing research on recently published journal articles, newspapers and internet sites on the topic about anti bribery, this report will describes, what the policies intends to do and the employees that will be affected with the policies. Anti bribery helps the operations of one organisation to detect or prevent the corruption inside one organisation. 3.0 How to prevent bribery? The most effective way to prevent bribery is to have an anti corruption program, this is important to a big organisation. This will enforce some of the actions and will change the penalties to bribery to an organisation. Year 2011 UK Bribery Act of 2010 leads many organisations to re evaluate their anti corruption program, even do companies that have general policies and procedures to comply with the UK Bribery Act [Kenneth Clarke. (2011)]. This Act not only covers bribery of UK government officials but it also cover ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Luxury Goods Serve A Purpose Introduction Luxury goods serve a purpose that extends way beyond functionality and need. A bag that costs $15,000 or a pair of shoes priced at $500 does not necessarily signal that they perform better than goods priced significantly lower. The disproportionate prices of luxury goods reflect so much more than the eye can see, the history behind the brand, the story that it tells, and the scarcity and exclusivity it aims to achieve in the mind of the consumer. A premium brand, by contrast, can generally be described as a good that a customer pays more for because they are getting higher quality product. Luxury brands are not inherently inferior because they do not offer higher functionality. Sometime signaling the belonging to an exclusive group is important to a person, and thus worth the monetary cost. A premium product, though, is a good that people are willing to pay more because they believe they get more, whether that is higher quality or better performance. A customer does not purchase a luxury product because they know it will perform better, they purchase it because of the status and appearance that it signals to those around them. The distinction between luxury and premium is significant because many brands are unsure of where they want to position themselves. In order for a high end brand to be successful it needs to position themselves as either providing some benefit that justifies the price, or as a fantasy that the customer needs to pay for to be a part of. ... • 7. Memo of Dollar General Relevant Economic Trends With the exception of supercenters such as Costco and BJ s, the fastest growing portion of the overall retail industry in the United States during the past decade has been in the dollar store segment. From 2000 2005 dollar stores had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.2% which was nearly double the 5.6% CAGR in the retail industry as a whole. Sales from these discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more than double to $51.1 billion in 2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. The first was a cultural shift in consumers towards a bargain based mentality. This was spurred by an increased presence of retailers with a low cost strategy including Wal Mart, ... They emphasize the use of even dollar prices on most items to conveniently make it easy for customers to track how much they are spending before they get to the checkout line. This coupled with their focused assortment of quality goods allows easy in and out shopping and saves the customer time. DG competes against big box retailers such as Wal Mart through price and convenience rather than price and selection. The average DG store is 6,900 square feet with about 4,900 stock keeping units (SKUs) serving customers who live within five miles of the store. The average Wal Mart on the other hand is over 100,000 square feet containing more than 75,000 SKUs and serves many customers living more than five miles away. Strategically limiting the number of brands and sizes as well as purchasing fast turning SKUs gives DG the leverage to negotiate low purchase prices when bargaining with suppliers based on the higher volume of individual SKUs being purchased. This allows them to offer competitive prices while achieving price parity with big box retailers selling the same items and on occasion even beating these competitor s prices. Focusing on both price and convenience also allows DG to compete and differentiate themselves from other small convenience, discount, and drugstore retailers who typically focus on either price or convenience but ... • 8. The Egyptian Revolution The Egyptian Revolution started due to the people s discontent towards the government of Hosni Mubarak. Grievances of Egyptian protesters were focused on legal and political issues including police brutality, state of emergency laws, lack of free elections and freedom of speech, corruption, and economic issues including high unemployment, food price inflation and low wages. Soon after the overthrown of Mubarak s government Morsi was elected in a democratic way. A coup d état led by the Minister of defense General Abdel Fattah El Sisi overthrew Morsi and massive popular demonstrations against military rule started. Egypt is facing a deep threat to human rights due to violent confrontations between the Egyptian Government and the revolutionary groups. • 9. Reflection Paper On Cheers It was March 2017, and the tryout cheers had just been put on Moodle. I had already been practicing my tumbling skills at Corner House for about five months, but I still wasn t confident with my skills. We had cheer camp for the next week to go over the cheers and how the tryout process was going to go. During the week I had gotten pretty good at the cheers but I lost my running tumbling from being so nervous. This made me so scared for tryouts and I thought for sure I wasn t going to make the team, especially compared to other girls who had outstanding tumbling skills. I knew that now I couldn t rely on my tumbling to get me on the team so I focused on my jumps and cheers. It was the night before tryouts and I couldn t sleep because of my nerves. Later that night at around 3:00 AM, I threw up from thinking about it so much. I stayed up the rest of the night practicing my cheers as quietly as I could without waking my sister or my parents up. When it was finally time to go to the tryouts I was getting ready and now I was worried I was going to be late even though I had plenty of time. While I was putting my hair up in a ponytail, I wasn t able to get it up without hair sticking out on the sides. Once I realized I was just going to have to deal with it, I started putting my bow in. I was rushing because I lost a lot of time with all the times of trying to get my ponytail perfect. I was twisting my bow around for the third time to get a tight fit and the rubber band ... • 11. The World Is Changing And The Environment Introduction The world is changing and the environment we are living in is becoming very competitive by the day. Considering the work environment of this changing world, both the employees and employers at the workplace are facing a lot of risk issues, regarding this rapid change in the economy and society followed by the overpowering competition. In order to sustain in the business market and meet the consumer demands, the organizations and the employers are required to come up with new methods and unbeatable prices of products. Moreover due to the emergence of globalisation, these organizations are bound to apply cost cutting approach (lower wage approach), which influences the shifts in workforce composition, labour utilization and labour demand. (Rani, 2000) This shift leads to what can be defined as labour flexibility . According to Standing (1999), the term can be defined as a rise in new technologies, development of more complex labour control structures, participation of labours throughout the world with the help of globalisation. The more complex definitions and theories of labour flexibility will be discussed later in this essay. I am writing this essay to portray how labour flexibility has given rise to international human resource management and how globalization plays a vital role in the emergence of the former two concepts. In my essay I will first introduce globalization, since it has been a very important topic of discussion in the international human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Next there are two versions of the first confederate national flag. Both with red and white stripes and blue square on top left corner, one with seven stars forming a circle, the other with thirteen stars forming a circle. Then there is the confederate battle flag, which is the one most people have seen, it exhibits a red background with a blue X as well as thirteen stars to compose it. This flag was first brought into battle in December 1861. • 13. Frost At Midnight Critical Analysis Coleridge frequently explores the relationship and interactions between humanity and nature in his poetry. His poems, particularly his conversation poem Frost at Midnight , allows the reader into his internal thoughts between the two groups. Coleridge shows how the thinking of the mind is mirrored in nature and how patterns repeat to reveal universal aspects in poetry, thoughts, and nature. Coleridge uses nature to capture the mind s movement. Frost is the means that begins the poem and is how the structure of the poem is assembled. The poem contains organic, repeating fractal patterns with small variations within them similar to how frost is propagated. These patterns exist throughout nature in honeycombs, mountains, clouds, and leaves. Repetition is also seen between the speaker of the poem, Coleridge, and his infant son, Hartley. Repetition exists here as Harley is, in some way, a replica of Coleridge as children can be seen as versions of their parents. But Coleridge also points out how he and his son are different as well. Coleridge wants his son to be intimately familiar with nature by saying With tender gladness, thus to look at thee, / And think that thou shalt learn far other lore / And in far other scenes! (lines 49 51). Coleridge is going to make sure that his son will enjoy nature and not have the experience he had in the city. The alliteration of the Th sound in thus to look at thee, / And think that thou (lines 49 50) also draws the reader to these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Missing Plane, Malaysia Airlines Flight Mh370 In the modern democracy world, political game is no longer a game of one to many rather many to one. Many parties see the need of employing communication professionals to develop a more efficient campaign with favourly publicity. These communication professionals are known as the spin doctor or Public Relations (PR) expert in dealing with the mass media to mobilize and steer public opinion (Louw, 2010). This article addresses the role and the relationship of spin doctoring with other players take part in mass media, with two case studies demonstrated: one being successful and one being unsuccessful spin. The successful spin will be shown using the example of the Islamic State Group in Syria and Iraq (ISIS). On the other hand, the unsuccessful one will be using the handling case of the missing plane, Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. A summary of the key concepts relevant to this article will also be provided, followed by what led to the success and the failure of the two campaigns mentioned will be analyzed. The term spin doctor consists of a symbolic relationship with journalists and mass media. Both need each other in order to generate and disseminate information within the media machine. A good spin team knows what works is the best to hook the intended audiences, be it a mass audience or the journalist (Louw, 2010). • 15. England Court System The court system in England and Wales originated during the Anglo Saxon period. Back then local men gathered in Moot Courts, deciding on issues in line with local customs. Piece by piece the system became more sophisticated, which can be seen clearly after a brief overview on its evolution and evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages. After the Norman Conquest, certain cases were brought before the King (Coram Rege in Latin), later the King started to delegate the power to administer Royal Justice to a council. This council was known as the King s Court (Curia Regis in Latin), which later branched into the common law courts. At first the Exchequer of pleas, Common Pleas and the King s Bench, followed by the Court of Chancery in the mid 14th century. The Judicature Acts of 1873 and 1875 modernised the court structure drastically. Introducing, the Supreme Court of Judicature also known as the House of Lords, as a final court of Appeal above the High Court. Along with the creation of a single Court of Appeal in Civil matters. Furthermore, the introduction of a new improved divisional structure for the High Court. This was finalised in 1881 with the merge of Common pleas and Exchequer into the Queens Bench Division. The Criminal Appeal Act 1907 recognised the right of appeal in criminal cases and established the Court of Criminal Appeal. Dubbed Dead Men Tell No Tales, this all feels like second verse same as the first with Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow, a few cameos popping up from previous films, and a mashup of previous characters and new ones. Largely, we have a fifth film because the fourth film, 2011 s On Stranger Tides, may have grossed $180 million less in North America than the biggest success in the series thus far, 2006 s Dead Man s Chest, but cleared more than $1 billion worldwide. • 17. Study on Administration Errors for Woodcock-Johnson III... This study examined administration and scoring errors made by graduate students when administering the Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Cognitive Abilities (WJ III COG). In the past studies have been conducted on graduate student errors made on other assessment of cognitive abilities, such as the Wechsler Scales. This study s findings were similar to previous studies. The study participants consisted of 36 graduate students who attended a school psychology program at a metropolitan university. There were 31 females and 5 males, of which there were 30 Caucasian, 4 Latino, 1 Asian and 1 African American. All of the students were first year students, enrolled in cognitive assessment courses taught by the same professor (Ramos, 2009, pp. 653). All students were required to administer the WJ III COG 4 times, first to a classmate, and then 3 more times to volunteers. The first administration for each student was not considered for the study, which produced 108 testing administrations. These administrations and scores were then examined by advanced level graduate students taught by the same professor. The instrument used for scoring the administrations was a checklist first created by Schermerhorn and Alfonso, and was designed to record the frequency and types of errors made during the administration and scoring of the test (Ramos, 2009, pp. 653). After each of the 108 tests were scored using the checklist, it was found that there were 500 errors made. While the mean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That was a security failure of the administration. 7. It is reported that there was an impromptu meeting to determine the cause of the shooting. During this time, at least the place should have been secured so students weren t in harm s way. At least TV screens on the hall way and around campus should have alerted the students of a gunman on the loose around the campus. Students were kept in the dark allowing the gunman to carry out his target unhindered. 8. If a 911 call was dispatched soon after the first shootings there would have been less casualties. The area would have been combed and questions asked until the shooter was found. Special police dogs would have helped locate. If the university had security surveillance cameras, the motion pictures would have aided during the search. 9. How did Cho the gun gain access to the residences? Cho s access card was only ... • 19. The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music Essay The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music I believe that it would be difficult for someone to make the argument that Negro spirituals have not been influential in the field of music, much less the realm of gospel music today. However, church members often do not make the time to reflect on the heritage of a hymn or song to realize the meaning that the particular piece has carried with it through the decades, even centuries. With this in mind, I am going to look at the history of the Negro spiritual and then at specific hymns in the 1991 Baptist Hymnal, published by Convention Press, to see just what impact the Negro spiritual has had on today s church music. I believe that we will find that these songs have had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, however, slaves were not using their music to glorify the God worshipped by their masters. Obviously, they had brought their religion with them, one considered pagan and inappropriate by Christians in the American colonies. Christian missionaries were very disapproving regarding the religious practices of the slaves, and they began to verbalize their disapproval and work to convert the new African slaves. Seventeenth century author Morgan Godwin describes their religious practices thus: . . . nothing is more barbarous, and contrary to Christianity, than their . . . Idolatrous Dances, and Revels; in which they usually spend the Sunday . . . And here, that I may not be thought too rashly to impute Idolatry to their Dances, my Conjecture is raised upon this ground . . . for that they use their Dances as a means to procure Rain: Some of them having been known to beg this Liberty upon the Week Days, in order thereunto (qtd. in Maultsby 3). Apparently, slave owners did not immediately set out to influence the religious practices of their slaves; however, it would not be long before the masters began to insist that their slaves practice their religion, Christianity. I have found very little regarding the reception of the Africans to Christianity; nevertheless, they were converted, and their music changed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wilhelm Negligence Case In this introduction of the case, we see that there was a question on the floor being asked about if Wilhelm acted negligently by failing to remind Flores of the dangers of working with beehives. I read this case twice and speculated on if Mr. Curtis Wilhelm acted negligently in failing to warn Flores of the dangers of functioning with beehives because John Black provided Santos with a protective suit to have as you re picking them up. So, after realizing Wilhelm nor his compliance that was John Black, didn t mention how difficult it is to operate beehives, he did act negligent in failing to communicate with Santos on the dangers of working with beehives. This school is known as a non profit organization because the profits/donations the school receives, it is allocated between the teachers, students, and the school, instead of the profits going to those in higher offices like a board of directors within a profitable organization. • 23. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life; however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen. Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues and dramatic expressions. At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend. Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte. In 1791, he contracted the rheumatic inflammatory fever and passed away early at the age ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Habitus By Bourdieu The article Bourdieu and Habitus was not easy to read, but I found it enlightening as it helped to reinforce my understanding of Bourdieu s concept of habitus by comparing and relating different roles and norms of society. The term habitus derives from the Latin verb hebre meaning to have or to hold (Swartz, 2002, p. 615), the concept grows out of Bourdieu s attempt to address the question, how the human action follow regular pattern without being the product to some external structure, such as cultural norms? The concept of habitus invites one to think of human practices as regulated by transposable dispositions rather than cultural norms or by conscious attentions. The term dispositions is key for Bourdieu, for it suggests a way of thinking about habit that is clearly different and more active from the more popular idea of absolute repetition or routine. ... • 30. Grievances Of The Declaration Of Independence The Declaration of Independence was written to declare that America would be free and that it would no longer be under the rule of King George III. The declaration has a total of twenty seven grievances which are complaints towards the King and the government of Britain. One of the many grievances stated in the declaration is that He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislature . This whole process began towards the beginning of 1763. After the Seven Years War ended in February 1763, the king did not withdraw the British troops from America. Instead, he left a lot of the troops in America forcing the colonists to house and support them. According to colonialhall.com, the troops stayed in America in order to enforce the laws; especially with the new taxes that were about to take place. Although the troops did help by protecting colonists and enforcing the laws, it was unnecessary for them to stay. The colonists knew how to defend themselves so there was really no reason for this. It seemed that the King did this, not just to enforce laws, but also to make them fearful so that they would surrender to him. Although the Kings intentions were to get the colonists to appease to him, that did not happen. This only made the colonists fear that they would lose all their rights and it made them angry with the King. Jefferson wrote that if the King did indeed have the right to keep standing armies in the colonies during times of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the gap between trying and giving up and it is the sense of the unbearable pleasure that comes along with success. In Norman Mailer s The Death of Benny Paret , the author witnesses a first hand account of the tragic death of the boxer, Paret. Through many rhetorical devices, Mailer is able to have an effect on his audience, allowing them to feel the same horror. Mailer uses diction to mold the events in a biased and respectful way. Using words like inspired to describe the kind of shame that Paret was creating by loosing makes his failure seem less crucial. I spent the first part of my education needing some inspiration similar to this. To explain, I was bullied in Elementary School. From Kindergarten to Fifth Grade, I was teased because I was too smart. There were several times that I would hide on the back of the bus crying after a full day of insults. There was one boy at my school that was the worst. His name was Chaska Lacey. Chaska loved making new insults and nicknames every day to insult my intelligence. And it wasn t always at school either. Once I was jogging through the town of Waverly in order to stay in shape for basketball season. I was running at a decently consistent pace before I passed Chaska and his younger brother, Jolon. I kept on running because I didn t want to talk to him. He started following and shouting abuse at me. He said things such as, Hey, Booky. I didn t know that you could do anything except read. Look at those legs. I didn t think that running was even possible for someone that spent that much time doing homework. Can you teach me to read, please? I eventually out ran him, however it wasn t before his words made me feel that people didn t know who I was. People only saw that I was a pair of glasses stuck in a book. I know that what he told me was not incredibly rude, but it still hurt me. I wanted for someone to realize that I was much more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
