Buddy Bolden Research Paper
The person whom invented Jazz was born in uptown New Orleans on September 6, 1877 to Alice and
Westmore Bolden. Charles Buddy Bolden grew up in one of the most musically rich cities in all of the
United States during the time, and it would have great influence in his life. As a young man, Buddy
made money as a barber, however his heart was truly in his music. The cornet was his instrument, and
he could play like nobody else. He was famously known as The King because of how well he played
the cornet, as well as his public demand and popularity. Buddy s playing married all of the
contemporary popular styles of music, creating something never before heard, Jazz. Jazz music
emerged from the confluence of New Orleans s diverse musical

How Foreign Realtors Are Different
2. How Foreign Realtors Are Different
The first thing to realize is that realtors in various countries differ a lot in the ways they work and
charge commission on sale; real estate sellers have to know about their own country s realtors and the
countries they target for bringing the foreign buyers from over there as well. Even the words realtor or
real estate agent may mean not the same thing in different countries in terms of the duties and
responsibilities of such real estate professionals. By the way, throughout this e book we will use these
words interchangeably although it may be not really correct in some jurisdictions. As a realtor you
have learned the profession in your own country and got your real estate license or as ... Show more

Also the difference between the work that seller s and buyer s realtors perform should be always taken
into consideration. If you hire a local realtor to sell your property commission based, or you are this
seller s realtor yourself, then the realtor s duty will be to market, advertise and promote the property
for sale at the own realtor s expense most of the time (hoping for a sizable commission at closing). It
is a different picture with a foreign realtor. Usually as a private seller you offer foreign realtors to find
a buyer for your property for sale and promise to pay a commission on sale, or as a local realtor for the
property you offer the foreign realtors a commission split on sale if they refer a foreign buyer to you.
Obviously, the foreign realtor will usually act as a buyer s

Natural History Museum s Eternal Life In Ancient Egypt
Over the weekend, I chose to examine and analyze the Natural History Museum s exhibit Eternal Life
in Ancient Egypt . The exhibit contained many artifacts and visual representations of what and why
Egyptians performed mummification. Whilst visually entertaining and generally informative, there did
not seem to be a discussion of multiple interpretations on the significance for each object. The
speculative nature of these statements coupled with an often lacking of archaeological evidence
backing up these claims created more questions than answers. However, the exhibit did a great job
describing and informing of the science required for the analysis as well as informative background
explanations for these artifacts. With clear and concise details ... Show more content on

With a mummified boy on display, the exhibit explains that the embalmers preserved the body by
shrouding it in a sheet of linen instead of elaborate layers of fabric strips meaning that this is a
commoner s body (Smithsonian). The captions also state that the placement of the arms and chin on
chest reflect mummification practices from about 2,000 years ago (Smithsonian). Accompanied by
images showing the process of unraveling the boy mummy, this section of the exhibit successfully
explains social hierarchy in Egypt and the mummification procedure in an informative manner. The
exhibit also informs how advances in radiographic imaging allow for scientists to analyze mummies
without damaging their fragile remains or wrappings (Smithsonian). Again, images of the radiographs
and processes of attaining them accompany this statement which contains valuable information since
it is always important to know how the museum and scientists preserve the artifacts whilst gaining

Our book defines JIT as, ... a philosophy of operation that seeks to maximize efficiency and eliminate
waste in any form ( Vonderembse 2013, Chapt 11.1). Perhaps one of the greatest functions of JIT is
that it uncovers the problems in production by keeping minimal items available. With no pools of
inventory the goal of JIT it to allow a smooth flow of production without any kinks or waste. Since
using the JIT system Space Age has uncovered a problem with its key worker ED putting in to many
hours due to a glitch in the production of part 3079.
In addition to the manufacturing problem Space Age is facing they are also in a dilemma regarding the
reduction of overtime costs and inventory costs. If the over time costs tend to lessen the inventory
costs, overtime costs would be higher and the employee would be unhappy. If inventory costs reduce
overtime costs then inventory costs would be higher than previous. Managers of Space Age are in
need of suggestions for tracking the job status and location during production. The optimum mode of
production needs to be identified and, some changes are required for creating value for the company
along with the customer. The master production schedule was given from Coral.

Lunar New Year Is The Most Important Festival For The...
Lunar New Year has been regarded as the most important festival for the Chinese Community, it s also
known as the Spring Festival the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. Lunar New Year
purely according to lunar calendar, and it is coordinated by the cycles of the moon; Celebrations
always run from the evening before the first day of New Year, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day
of the first month.
Spring Festival is celebrated in those countries and territories with significant Chinese populations,
including Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Mauritius, and the Philippines (Chinese New Year). It seems to be a traditional Chinese
festival, yet it s also celebrated in other places with growing Chinese populations; San Francisco
claimed to host the largest New Year celebration outside of Asia (Kim), and New York City has
announced that the Lunar New Year would be made a public school day in June 2015 (Harris and
Grynbaum).
Within China, regional customs and traditions of celebrating New Year have influenced widely. It is
pretty important for every family to clean their houses thoroughly, in order to sweep away any bad
fortune and welcome incoming good luck; the annual reunion dinner also is an occasion for Chinese
families. Other major activities include giving money to kids in red packets and lighting firecrackers.

A Brief Note On The Athlete s Training Program Essay
Periodization in Bodybuilding
You may ask why the use of periodization in training programs? , well the goal of periodization is to
help maximize what you gain of your training while reducing the risk of getting injured in the long
term. The way this is done is with an intelligently designed training year program that contains smaller
blocks of time that each has its specific goal and priority. This kind of overall schedule includes many
aspects of an athlete s training program and it may include specific training such as; strength training,
conditioning, plyometric, and also any specific sport activities. However in this essay I will specify
the use of periodization in bodybuilding which is a sport that has become very popular in recent times.
What is Periodization?
In simple terms, Periodization is the planning and organization of training. When periodization is used
in sport, it is usually used based on achieving specific goals such as gaining maximal physical
capabilities (strength, power, speed, etc...) for a given period of competition. For example in
bodybuilding, the training may be planned around a specific competition.
In bodybuilding periodization is not an unusual thing, in fact most bodybuilders periodize their
training anyway and this is to reach their specific goal whether it is to reduce body fat or bring up a
lagging body part. Generally speaking, if you have an aim to reach a goal by a given time, then in
actual fact you are using periodization.

Pablo Escobar Essay
Pablo Escobar had a great impact on drug trade to the U.S. in the 1980s. How he got into cocaine, how
he smuggled, it shows and how he was brought down.
Pablo Escobar was born January 12, 1949. After being kicked out of school , he began his career as a
thief in streets of Medellin Colombia. Its rumored that Escobar got his start by stealing tomb stones
from local cemeteries, then sand blasting them and re selling them to Panama. Pablo then started on
the drug scene by smoking Colombia s highly potent pot. He would continue to do this the rest of his
life.

He was able to design his own luxurious prison and continued to run his business behind the walls.
Fifty new charges were brought against Pablo, including political assassination and mass murder.
Escobar confessed to just one shipment of cocaine to Europe. When two men came and told Pablo he
was being transferred to a military prison, Pablo would have none of this, and he took out hidden
weapons, taking the two men hostage. After a night of negotiations 400 army commandos stormed the
jail, but Escobar and his brother, along with many others, were gone. After 16 months on the run, he
was finally hunted down by Columbian police with the aid of U.S. technology that recognized Escobar

Developed and Developing Countries
Have you ever heard of developed countries and developing countries, or first world and third world
countries? Just a basic overview before I go into detail, developed countries have a matured financial
system, this includes the US and Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South
Korea. Developing countries are emerging markets across Asia, Latin America and Africa. And
undeveloped countries are mainly African nations which remain vastly poor, such as Mali and
Somalia. Before I go on about the BRICS countries of the future, I will start with today s BRICS
nations why they are in BRICS. First, the B, Brazil. Brazil has sustained a high GDP growth rate as its
Gross Domestic Product has passed the United Kingdom, but this is a small part of the equation.
Brazil contains many minor oilfields, but this is still not the big picture. Although services makes up
most of Brazil s economy, agricultural products like coffee, bananas and sugarcane have driven Brazil
s growth. Plus, Brazil doesn t have an overpopulation problem, so they can export coffee, bananas and
sugarcane, in fact Brazil is the number one producer of coffee in the world. The main drawbacks are
the extensive crime combined with a corrupt political system.
Next, the R, Russia. Russia is easily the odd one out of the BRICS countries. It doesn t currently
sustain growth at any level even close to the other BRICS nations. But Russia contains huge coal
mines and even more crude oil and natural gas

The Competing Music Streaming Services: SoundCloud and Spotify
Humans experience a feel good sensation when listening to enjoyable songs, such as their personal

cause to be the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine (Zatorre). Because of recent advancements in
the music industry, people are able to listen to any they would like, anytimeessentially acquiring

Music enthusiasts now use streaming services like Pandora, Google Play Music, iHeart

Many famous music artists of today have SoundCloud to thank, like the recent prominent rapper
Willie Maxwell II, known professionally as Fetty Wap. It was April of 2014 when Maxwell II
uploaded the track Trap Queen, which quickly became the anthem of the summer (John). By the end
of summer, Trap Queen had reached eleven million plays on SoundCloud, which led to a record deal
with 300 Entertainment
(Gruger). In addition to Maxwell II, SoundCloud also helped music artists like electronic dance
musician Skrillex, hip hop rapper Post Malone, and house musician Kygo.
In contrast, Spotify s direction is to provide its listeners with songs for everyone of life s moment.
Spotify accomplishes this goal by creating playlists for specific genres and moods. For example, such
playlists include Country, R amp;B, Rock, Holidays, Good
Vibes, Mood Booster, Romance, Workout, and Focus. In addition, Spotify s goal is also to allow its
users to access Spotify from anywhere through the use of mediums like
Davidson 2 computers, smart phones, tablets, home entertainment systems, cars, gaming consoles, and
such.
Being strikingly different from SoundCloud, the music selection of Spotify is of the already famous
musicians of the industry. Therefore, Spotify helps broadcast and promote the already well known
music artists.

Super Size Me Essay
Super Size Me and Well Being
The movie Super Size Me starring Morgan Spurlock shows many benefits and harms of particular
eating habits. It warns us about the dangers of constant fast food eating. Along with showcasing the
dangers, it also gives examples of good foods to eat, how much of those foods, and methods to
maintain a healthy weight.
Super Size Me gives us a great example of what happens to our bodies on unhealthy diets. This
documentary is a good teaching tool for anyone to learn from. For example, it shows us the risks of
eating too much fast food, specifically McDonald s. In the movie Morgan Spurlock sets out to eat

Morgan commented on how losing the weight was extremely difficult and purging himself from fast
food was almost like being weaned off an addicting drug.
I believe that one of the main causes for an increasingly overweight and obese American population is
the fast food industry. With fast food being convenient and cheaper the average busy American turns
to it as a source of nutrition more times than not. Fast food in general is high in fat and sugars with
little nutritional value. Eating this daily or even 3 5 times a week can most definitely negatively affect
your person. I feel I can also speak from personal experience knowing that when I eat a heavy burger
and don t exercise I feel much more tired and cloudier than I would on any given day.
Although they get the most of the flack, it seems to me that we can t point the blame all at the fast
food industry on America s weight problems. The credit for our weight issues not only goes to the fast
food industry, but the general public as well. The fast food industry encourages the public to buy their
food through advertisement and even reward systems, but the general public is too naive or generally
don t care enough about their well being to attempt to eat a healthier diet. Today I believe the general
public is leaning more towards a healthier diet with the constant knowledge being produced daily on

Observation Of A Simulus Observation
Stimulus Observation Step 1
Recently, I observed a conversation on vaping which supposedly causes mold and burns in the lungs.
This caused us to pause and think, why do people try things which we all know are bad? The
conversation began as we brought up something about vaping and if it had negative effects. I
remembered that I had once heard that mold can grow on vape user s lungs when the vapor and
chemicals reach the membrane. Upon hearing this news others needed reassurance, so we looked for
information on the subject. As we brought up this fact, another participant asked ¨Why do people vape
or smoke when they know it is bad for them?¨ This question brings to mind our ability as Americans
for self control and the human will.
Step 2
We often think that surviving is our number one top priority or instinct, but we can also observe many
willingly killing themselves, albeit, slowly. In another sense each time one takes a drag of smoke or
vapor and harms themselves we would expect them to realize this is not helpful but actually harmful
to their survival, and throw down the habit. Instead we see them urged to use more and more until we
call it an unhealthy addiction. Although it is frowned upon in American culture to smoke or use
tobacco of any kind, vaping, which can as has also been seen to be harmful, is seen as perfectly
socially acceptable. Even though we know both smoking and vaping are harmful, one is new, exciting,
and claims to be less harmful. Americans often see these transitions and think very little of them, but
they both have similar ill effects we just choose to ignore one and not the other. Our culture decides
what is bad, fine, or even good not based on fact or research, but our understanding and feelings of the
questioned problem. Americans do not care if something causes a problem unless it is immediate and
noticeable. Americans are stubborn in some ways but very open in another, we are often very wishy
washy. The modern culture can t seem to look down the line and see consequences of our present
actions. The American population, resonating with this thought process, only want fast action and
immediate results. When this does not occur we find any possible way of forcing it to happen

The Failure Of Chartism In The United States
Chartism was a movement that emerged by the working class to achieve parliamentary democracy.
They wanted a voice through democratic participation, and they wanted social and economic reform.
The movement existed from 1838 1858 and they got their name from the People s Charter of 1838.
Chartism evolved for economic and political reasons, such as feeling betrayed by the middle class, and
the Whig government adopting policies that the working class viewed as a betrayal. The fall of
Chartism can be attributed to a divided in the groups interests, an improvement in economic
conditions, and the violence that developed during the movement. Their goals were commendable, but
their strategies were inadequate. Although the Chartists failed to reach their ... Show more content on

One of the reasons for their failure can be attributed to the divide in their methods and structure. Some
of the Chartists believed in peace and peaceful protesting, while others believed in violence and its
power to overcome the the rich and powerful that were running parliament. The movement began with
peaceful petitions and the first petition in July 1839, had over one million signatures on it. When
parliament rejected the petition 235 to 46 some of the Chartist members turned to violence. A man
named John Frost led approximately one thousand armed members in the Newport Rising. When
things turned violent many people were killed of injured, and supporters fled because they were in fear
of loosing jobs, or possibly even getting killed. William Lovett, who was one of the founders of the
movement, left the movement because of the violence that was now being demonstrated by the
Chartists. Economic interests were also improving in the 1840 s and because the economic conditions
were on the rise food and goods were not as expensive. Because of this people were slightly less
concerned about the economy leading to more loss of support for the Chartists. There were also
discrepancies on their third and final petition in 1848. They had lied about the amount of signatures on
the petition, and some of the names listed on the petition were said to be forged or listed more than
once. After that third petition the Chartists were mocked in the newspapers for the lies and forgeries.
Some people were not taking them serious anymore and again, they lost more support. Arguably, the
main causes of their fall was the violence, as well as the rise in economy that made the Chartists lose
steam. Even though they were not successful at that time, in later years some of the Chartist ideas
were incorporated into the Reform Acts of 1867 and

Gender Roles In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
The fourteenth century was not known for unconventional writing. Moreover, the first attempts at
reform were occurring, causing assimilation and not much thought on sexism or the era s prevalent
misogyny. Yet, writers whether deliberately or unintentionally included gender roles in their text, as
they play a considerable role in all aspects of society. Gender roles are apparent in both the Pearl Poet
and Geoffrey Chaucer s stories. However, the Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight fable
furthers the sexist patriarchy, while Chaucer s The Miller s Tale actively dismantles conventional
female roles. Both tale s descriptions of females, comments from the male protagonists, and the
character development of each story s most prominent female character demonstrate the contrasting
views in these texts.
When examining Middle Age texts through their gender roles, one must first consider the descriptive
words used to depict the story s males and females. The Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
draws upon the era s traditional concepts of male and female roles. This is exemplified when the fable
opens with tales of brave mythological heroes such as world controlling Romulus and Aeneas, who
represent the Middle Age s idealized male roles of strength and superiority. In contrast, the first female
is described through her clothes and delicate external beauty, objectifying and fetishizing her: Queen
Guenevere gaily dressed and placed in the middle, seated on the upper

Why do some business firms pursue a triple bottom line outcome while others focus only on profit

The triple bottom line outcome focuses on the concept where firms are environmentally conscious and
socially responsible by achieving a balance between profits, avoiding damage to the environment, and
achieving social benefits (Douglas, 2012). Traditionally, firms focused on profit maximization to
achieve profits to pay out dividends and capital gains so shareholders can buy things. In a recent

If customers refuse to buy products from organization that do not value the environment,
organizations will change to customer s needs. Along with not buying products, customers should not
invest with companies who do not value the environment and communities. Economists incorporate
the triple bottom line into their models of business decision making by assuming that many
individuals will buy shares in companies that achieve the triple bottom line outcomes they want and
will sell shares in companies that do not (Douglas, 2012. Pg. 7).

Horror In Frankenstein
Horror interests people because it has the allure of being something that people are not accustomed to.
Not only does it make the point of pushing the bounds of what our minds may believe is possible, but
it also forces these ideas to become plausible in the minds of those reading or watching such
entertainment. The idea behind horror is to create a fiction based on things that people believe is
completely relevant and may even affect certain viewers, but it ultimately plays on the fears of these
people, yet does so in a thrilling way. In some odd way, it makes those who are entertained seek more

Escapism in Children s Literature
Children s literature can take many forms, from far fetching science fiction to spell binding who done
it mysteries. One of the most popular ideas presented in these various forms is that of escapism. The
characters in these stories explore quite complex social issues in ways that are less confrontational
then realism. One might consider why escape is such a central theme; as a child there are numerous
benefits to fantasy, it allows readers to experiment with different views of the world and takes
hypothetical situations and invites them to make connections between this fictive scenario and their
own reality. John Stephens an English professor at Macquarie University has said Fantasy writing
operates through metaphor so that the unfamiliar is used to stand in for, or comment upon, the
familiar.
The use of metaphor in Fantasy makes it more open to different readings and meanings. Take J.M.
Barrie s fantasy novel Alice s Adventures in Wonderland as an example. Barrie uses his story to
transport Alice to an unknown world full of backwards words and talking animals. This allows Alice
to escape the boredom of picture less books and adult conversations that were beginning to consume
her. Similar in theory is Neil Gaiman s style of writing. Gaiman has produced a number of Victorian
influenced fantasy novels for children, including Coraline. Coraline, like Alice centers on a young girl
entering another world.
Escape can be seem in many books for children but one story in

financial well being, accomplishments in schooling, radical activism, and the fulfillment of one of her
political aims Women s Suffrage. Even though she never saw the passage of her ultimate objective of
an Equal Rights Amendment, she could be recognized as a woman who could have independently
terminated the seventy year battle for Women s Suffrage. Alice Paul s extremism played one of the
most vital parts in the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment.
Alice Stokes Paul was born on January 11, 1885 in a New Jersey town called Mount Laurel. She was
the oldest of four kids born to Quaker parents, William and Tacie Paul. William Paul worked as the
president of the Burlington County Trust Company which delivered a nice life for the Paul family.
While Alice experienced a fortunate life on her father s farm she was educated with Quaker customs.
Quaker traditions include working to benefit society, gender fairness, and non materialistic morals
alongside close connections to nature and society, and humility. As Alice grew older she became a
devoted pupil all the way through grade school. After grade school in 1901, Alice Paul attended
Swathmore College. While attending Swathmore, Paul served as a member on the Executive Board of
Student Government which may have ignited her enthusiasm

Analysis of Lopez vs. Gonzales Court Case Essay
Even before the Declaration of Independence was written, the United States was always a country
where people journey upon to seek a better life to the land of the free in order to find a life style on the
idea life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Since immigration is recognized as one of the largest
dilemmas of homeland security, people value their safety, disregarding the fact that the United States
was born from immigrants. However, this does not mean that immigrants do not have to obey the law;
it is an obligation or else consequences will arise. Because the United States is a democratic nation, it
trusts the people of the country to assist in the making and carrying out laws. When people do commit

The judge ordered Lopez removed in light of 8 U. S. C. §1229b(a)(3), which provides that the
Attorney General s discretion to cancel the removal of a person otherwise deportable does not reach a
convict of an aggravated felony. (FindLaw) The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) confirmed and
the Eighth Circuit acknowledged the BIA. He was released for good conduct after 15 months

The United States Supreme Court constituted a felony punishable under the CSA only if it proscribed
conduct punishable as felony under the CSA, as quote by quote ordinarily trafficking meant

The Immigration and Naturalization Services pursued to deport the individual on two grounds: first

a controlled substance. Because Lopez was a permanent resident of South Dakota, he was qualified to
apply to the Attorney General for his cancellation of the deportation. The court denied his application
for cancellation of his deportation order, since the Immigration and Naturalization center forbids the

Health Of A High School Student
As a high school student before this class I found optimal health to be that if you are not in the
hospital or you do not have to take pills for your health daily you are in good health. Now as a
learning high school student I know on a more scholarly level that optimal health is much more than
just not being sick. Having optimal health is not just your physical health, but also your emotional
health, spiritual health, social health and intellectual health. To have perfect optimal health is quite
difficult and most people do not have optimal health. But when you have optimal health you feel
better about yourself in your physical state and also in your mental state. Having optimal health can
cut down on health bills or insurance rates. You also live longer in a state of optimal health. These are
some of the many benefits to having optimal health.
Most individuals have to make a lifestyle change to obtain optimal health. Craig Hospital says
Promoting optimal health in any or all of these areas may mean changing your lifestyle. Yet, choosing
and sticking with healthy behaviors is tricky (https://craighospital.org/resources/optimal health what it
is and how to get it). I completely agree with this statement. Trying to change some of my behavior for
this project was very hard and choosing to stick with the one behavior change was hard for me. I the
end I was happy with the behavior I chose. I chose to make my behavior change on time management.
This was to help in my mental

Possible Cause Of Schizophrenia Essay
Possible Cause for Schizophrenia Schizophrenia, defined by the National Institute of Mental Health is
...a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves... Sufferers
of this mental illness have many symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, difficulty finding
happiness, reduced speaking, trouble focusing, and many other symptoms which greatly impact their
quality of life. Around two million Americans are diagnosed with this illness, although not much is
known about it. Scientists have still not been able to pin point what causes schizophrenia. Due to this
there is no cure, only treatments to try and dull the symptoms. Steven McCarroll and Beth Stevens
have conducted a study which will hopefully give researchers something to help further their studies,

The part of the brain that is mostly impacted is the prefrontal cortex, which helps with thinking and
planning. The team focused on a location in the human genome called the MHC. They found that the
MHC has four variants of C4, which produced two different proteins, C4 A and C4 B. After analyzing
64,000 people they concluded that schizophrenics were more likely to have overactive forms of C4 A
than non schizophrenic people. This finding made them believe the C4 A was the gene which may
cause schizophrenia. This idea was then tested by Dr. Stevens, an assistant professor of neurology.
Mice were used in the experiment to see if the nonexistence of the gene which produces C4 would
impact the synaptic pruning. The experiment showed that the mice bred without the C4 producing
gene showed a problematic synaptic pruning process. This further supported McCarroll and Steven s
theory that too much C4 A causes an excessive amount of pruning during development of the brain.
This all explains why schizophrenics have a thinner prefrontal

Sports Injuries in Athletes
Sports injuries are a serious thing among teenage athletes and can affect them in numerous ways. It
affects both them the players and their teammates, because there is a shortage of a player. The biggest
problem that all athletes face is getting injured in the sports they are playing especially high school
sports. When you are playing a sport the last thing on your mind is to get injured and get out of the
game. Your alternative goal is to scored and beat your opponent. Sports injuries are serious in school
because they are not being watched or taken in serious considerations. They are taken for granted and
not particularly paid attention to. Injuries are one of the dangers in playing a sport. It prevents you
from playing for a while or sometimes never. The absolute way to bring an injured player back to his
or her feet again is by curing them and the prevention method or methods of avoiding getting injured
again. Heeling the injured players might help them get back on their feet but most of the times after
been heeled they are not able to do what they used to do before at a 100% they get more injured and
because they might have to stay away or prevent doing certain things . Therefore because of injuries,
numerous players miss out on their favorite sport they like to play.
Sports injuries refer to the kind of injuries that is most common during occasional sports or activity.
Some injuries are often accidents or bad training practices, improper equipment,

Repeat Entrepreneurs Case Study Essay
Introduction This paper will examine whether repeat entrepreneurs search for opportunities differently
than entrepreneurs who found only one company. Before examining the case for or against this theory,
a brief discussion what makes up an entrepreneur opens this paper. From there it moves into a brief
discussion of Howard Stevenson and his importance within the field of study of entrepreneurism.
Then the focus turns to a case for or against whether repeat entrepreneurs search for opportunities
differently than entrepreneurs who found only one company. To emphasize the findings discussed, a
brief case study of a successful entrepreneur hopes to reinforce the concepts discussed. The paper will
close with a summation of the findings and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Case Against
Repeat entrepreneurs know they have the ability to identify an opportunity and turn that opportunity
into a business. In most cases, they have already done it at least once. Unfortunately, this does not
mean that the first business was a success or that they will be able to repeat the success the first
business may have had. In fact, if the first business was a failure, there are indications that the second
business may fail as well. Recent research shows that instead of learning from mistakes, entrepreneurs
are just as apt to be overoptimistic after failure as before. Their overoptimism remains undimmed by
failure (Ucbasaran, Westhead Wright, 2011). This overoptimism can cause an entrepreneur to take on
risky opportunities, fail to properly plan for the unforeseen or waste financial resources instead of
looking for and finding the right opportunity.
Successful entrepreneurs looking to become repeat entrepreneurs may incorrectly over focus on
recreating their success that ideas for future opportunities are not as strong as the previous ones.
Where the first opportunity an entrepreneur pursued may have grown from an organic problem solving
process, repeat entrepreneurs may look to duplicate that success instead of taking the time to grow into
another opportunity as organically as the first. The greatest, and more crucial, challenge

Essay on Cause and Effect of Kristallnacht
Cause and Effect of Kristallnacht
The Holocaust was a great tragedy, but it didn t happen overnight. It was a long process of demeaning
Jews as subhuman. This started as early as 1933 when Hitler first came to power. However,
Kristallnacht, or The Night of the Broken Glass, was like the dam bursting. It was when the
government of Germany encouraged its people to loot and burn Jewish shops, synagogues, and
schools. In addition, many Jews were pulled out of their houses in the middle of the night and sent to
concentration camps. In some towns so many of the men were sent to the camps that the women and
children were forced to clean up the broken glass that littered the streets. Kristallnacht was a very

The Nuremberg Race Laws were passed. These stated that Jews could not go to public swimming

identify them as Jews. At this point in time, Jews could do very little. Some were arrested just for
taking a walk outside. So at this point in time Jews were very restricted. One Jewish teenager,
Herschel Grinszpan, was living in Paris. His father was relocated by the Nazis to Poland. He decided
that he was going to assassinate the German ambassador. He went to the embassy, but he was not able
to locate his target. So he tried to assassinate Third Secretary Ernst vom Rath instead. Ironically, Rath
was an anti Nazi. Even though Rath was only a minor official, Hitler used propaganda to convince
people that the act was an international conspiracy by Jews everywhere. Hitler made it seem as though
Jews were attacking Germany itself. This is what led to Kristallnacht. The act of one Jew gave Hitler
exactly the excuse he needed to hurt the Jews en masse and in public. It gave him the excuse for the
government to condone mass destruction of Jewish property and businesses. Even though Jews were
losing their liberty they still endured it as best they could. However Kristallnacht convinced them once

Children love television, and I know when I was in third grade and I saw the tv rolling into class I
didn t care what program we were about to see I was just glad we were watching tv. But this isn t all
about a fun video. Bill Nye the Science Guy is generally a great show for children. My main goal for
showing these third graders Bill Nye is to not teach them the Hydrologic Cycle, but more to get them
to like Bill Nye the Science Guy. Just think, as an educator, if you can teach your lesson while getting
the students hooked on the whole subject. I watched Bill Nye the Science Guy as a child and I believe
it was one of the few reasons why I was interested in science. When teaching third graders them
learning the material at hand is the key lesson, but it t not the final goal. Getting them interested and to
enjoy science is the main take away here. Teaching a parent or grandparent is much different as our
goal isn t to get them hooked on science but more to just teach them the lesson. One thing I ve noticed
when teaching an adult is that they become less interested with the teaching the more childish it is. So
basically, Bill Nye would not work. So I found another video online that would teach adults the
Hydrologic Cycle perfectly. It is a video from NASA. This video contains all the information they
would need to master what the hydrologic cycle is, while including visual evidence, yet at the same
time not being too childish. The

Summary Of The Professor And The Madman
Simon Winchester s interesting story, The Professor and the Madman, explains the creation of the
Oxford English Dictionary by an unlikely pair. The creators of the dictionary receive little credit for
their hard work. Simon Winchester reveals the masterminds behind the Oxford English Dictionary s
long process and shocking creation story. The subject of the story is the main character. The main
character, Doctor William Minor, is a mentally ill man who is locked away in an asylum for murder.
He offers his knowledge and love of literature to James Murry, the professor, to help with making the
Oxford English Dictionary. The purpose of the story is to bring awareness to William Minor s mental
illness. Simon Winchester uses a candid and honest tone to relay the subject and purpose of The
Professor and The Madman.
As the novel begins, the author s tone relays the subject, William Minor. Simon Winchester is very
truthful and honest in explaining William Minor s story. He fails to exclude the most shocking details.
William Minor s illness causes him to be very delusional. At times, he imagines many horrific ideas.
Winchester is very blunt in his choice of explaining Minor s hallucinations: Small boys, he believed,
were put up in the rafters above his bed; they came down when he was fast asleep (Winchester 123).
Minor believes the small boys perform inappropriate acts to him while he sleeps. The author is very
candid in describing what Minor believes takes place in his room at the

Relationship Between Gas Station Exercise On The People...
With this course, I have learned that it is possible to dramatically improve my ability to negotiate. I
can improve my monetary returns and feel better about myself and the people with whom I deal. I also
learned that there are several ways to test my own intuition and approach. The course provided me
with an opportunity to assess my instinctive bargaining style and provides suggestions for how to
further develop my bargaining abilities. The negotiation exercises was a good way to cement several
of the concepts from the book and lecture and gave me several opportunities to get to know my
classmate more and test some new insights with them.
Gas station exercise: my team shouldn t have been too worried about the other station s profits. We
should only have been concerned about maximizing our own profits. Even though our profits depend
on both our choices in pricing and the choices of the other station. However, our main concern should
be our own profit picture. If the other team do well or do poorly, that shouldn t be a big concern of
ours. You should simply do as well as you can to boost your own profits as much as you can. At the
start of the game, we had a plan and actually documented the minimum amount we expected to make
and wrote this down. We also agreed on who would go to meet with the other team to let them know
our position. The preparation gave us the peace of mind that comes with having a game plan. I believe
planning gave us confidence during the exercise.

The Rocket Man Theme
The Rocket Man
Well, it wasn t Mars, and it wasn t Venus, and it wasn t Jupiter or Saturn that killed him. We wouldn t
have to think of him every time Jupiter or Saturn or Mars lit up the evening sky. This was different.
(Bradbury 74). Doug s words in The Rocket Man goes on track of what the book s theme is.
Throughout The Illustrated Man, the theme is that decisions in life can be consequential. The theme of
decisions made in life can be consequential can be seen in the novel, The Illustrated Man by Ray
Bradbury of the story, The Rocket Man, where Dad s decision of going up to space affects his
relationship with his wife, how it has put him in a state of exhaustion, and where Dad ends up, it
changes Mother and Doug.
As the story begins, The Rocket Man, it is shown that the decisions made can form a bitter impact on
others. It is revealed in the text of the story, that Mother and Dad do not have the strongest
relationship. In the beginning, Mother shows an obvious disinterest towards the thought of Dad
travelling to space, then coming back to Earth every three months. It s not only because she asked
Doug for help to convince Dad to stay in space, but she also says certain phrases that represent her
disinterest. Once she said the light was too strong at night. But there s no moon this week, I said.
There s starlight, she said. (Bradbury 67). Bradbury portrays Mother in this conversation as a
dispirited person. Someone who is worn down from not seeing her

Women In Christian Churches
Devin Doran Professor Manning TRS 276 B September 27, 2016 Should Women Be Ordained As
Priests or Rabbis? Why or Why Not? Despite all the exceptional services and great humanitarian
works, the Catholic Church is still one of the most dominant and unshakable patriarchies with
doctrines that don t support equality in the ordainment of priests. The question of women ordination in
the Christian churches is a very controversial topic that mostly divides the church into oppositions. In
the Roman Catholic churches, women are not allowed to be priests because of male religious
dominance that doesn t allow women in leadership positions. On the other hand, most women are

Historically, the prevailing cultural norm on the role of women in the church has been diminishing and
even though there has been a decrease in cultural biases against women in society, the church is still
strict and maintains its male dominated culture that doesn t give fair opportunity to women. Currently,
the Roman Catholic religion is maintaining the tradition that doesn t allow women ordination as
priests. Many who support the ordination of women priest are dissatisfied and restless with the
realization that no matter how much they are determined to play a huge role in the church the church,
is only prepared for a limited service from women. For a church to run its operations successfully, it
needs all the help it can get especially on the human resource, which is available in the church, but it
seems women are not good enough for the church to fully engage them up to the priesthood level

  • 2. Buddy Bolden Research Paper The person whom invented Jazz was born in uptown New Orleans on September 6, 1877 to Alice and Westmore Bolden. Charles Buddy Bolden grew up in one of the most musically rich cities in all of the United States during the time, and it would have great influence in his life. As a young man, Buddy made money as a barber, however his heart was truly in his music. The cornet was his instrument, and he could play like nobody else. He was famously known as The King because of how well he played the cornet, as well as his public demand and popularity. Buddy s playing married all of the contemporary popular styles of music, creating something never before heard, Jazz. Jazz music emerged from the confluence of New Orleans s diverse musical ... • 3. How Foreign Realtors Are Different 2. How Foreign Realtors Are Different The first thing to realize is that realtors in various countries differ a lot in the ways they work and charge commission on sale; real estate sellers have to know about their own country s realtors and the countries they target for bringing the foreign buyers from over there as well. Even the words realtor or real estate agent may mean not the same thing in different countries in terms of the duties and responsibilities of such real estate professionals. By the way, throughout this e book we will use these words interchangeably although it may be not really correct in some jurisdictions. As a realtor you have learned the profession in your own country and got your real estate license or as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also the difference between the work that seller s and buyer s realtors perform should be always taken into consideration. If you hire a local realtor to sell your property commission based, or you are this seller s realtor yourself, then the realtor s duty will be to market, advertise and promote the property for sale at the own realtor s expense most of the time (hoping for a sizable commission at closing). It is a different picture with a foreign realtor. Usually as a private seller you offer foreign realtors to find a buyer for your property for sale and promise to pay a commission on sale, or as a local realtor for the property you offer the foreign realtors a commission split on sale if they refer a foreign buyer to you. Obviously, the foreign realtor will usually act as a buyer s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Natural History Museum s Eternal Life In Ancient Egypt Over the weekend, I chose to examine and analyze the Natural History Museum s exhibit Eternal Life in Ancient Egypt . The exhibit contained many artifacts and visual representations of what and why Egyptians performed mummification. Whilst visually entertaining and generally informative, there did not seem to be a discussion of multiple interpretations on the significance for each object. The speculative nature of these statements coupled with an often lacking of archaeological evidence backing up these claims created more questions than answers. However, the exhibit did a great job describing and informing of the science required for the analysis as well as informative background explanations for these artifacts. With clear and concise details ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a mummified boy on display, the exhibit explains that the embalmers preserved the body by shrouding it in a sheet of linen instead of elaborate layers of fabric strips meaning that this is a commoner s body (Smithsonian). The captions also state that the placement of the arms and chin on chest reflect mummification practices from about 2,000 years ago (Smithsonian). Accompanied by images showing the process of unraveling the boy mummy, this section of the exhibit successfully explains social hierarchy in Egypt and the mummification procedure in an informative manner. The exhibit also informs how advances in radiographic imaging allow for scientists to analyze mummies without damaging their fragile remains or wrappings (Smithsonian). Again, images of the radiographs and processes of attaining them accompany this statement which contains valuable information since it is always important to know how the museum and scientists preserve the artifacts whilst gaining more ... • 9. A Brief Note On The Athlete s Training Program Essay Periodization in Bodybuilding You may ask why the use of periodization in training programs? , well the goal of periodization is to help maximize what you gain of your training while reducing the risk of getting injured in the long term. The way this is done is with an intelligently designed training year program that contains smaller blocks of time that each has its specific goal and priority. This kind of overall schedule includes many aspects of an athlete s training program and it may include specific training such as; strength training, conditioning, plyometric, and also any specific sport activities. However in this essay I will specify the use of periodization in bodybuilding which is a sport that has become very popular in recent times. What is Periodization? In simple terms, Periodization is the planning and organization of training. When periodization is used in sport, it is usually used based on achieving specific goals such as gaining maximal physical capabilities (strength, power, speed, etc...) for a given period of competition. For example in bodybuilding, the training may be planned around a specific competition. In bodybuilding periodization is not an unusual thing, in fact most bodybuilders periodize their training anyway and this is to reach their specific goal whether it is to reduce body fat or bring up a lagging body part. Generally speaking, if you have an aim to reach a goal by a given time, then in actual fact you are using periodization. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Developed and Developing Countries Have you ever heard of developed countries and developing countries, or first world and third world countries? Just a basic overview before I go into detail, developed countries have a matured financial system, this includes the US and Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. Developing countries are emerging markets across Asia, Latin America and Africa. And undeveloped countries are mainly African nations which remain vastly poor, such as Mali and Somalia. Before I go on about the BRICS countries of the future, I will start with today s BRICS nations why they are in BRICS. First, the B, Brazil. Brazil has sustained a high GDP growth rate as its Gross Domestic Product has passed the United Kingdom, but this is a small part of the equation. Brazil contains many minor oilfields, but this is still not the big picture. Although services makes up most of Brazil s economy, agricultural products like coffee, bananas and sugarcane have driven Brazil s growth. Plus, Brazil doesn t have an overpopulation problem, so they can export coffee, bananas and sugarcane, in fact Brazil is the number one producer of coffee in the world. The main drawbacks are the extensive crime combined with a corrupt political system. Next, the R, Russia. Russia is easily the odd one out of the BRICS countries. It doesn t currently sustain growth at any level even close to the other BRICS nations. But Russia contains huge coal mines and even more crude oil and natural gas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many famous music artists of today have SoundCloud to thank, like the recent prominent rapper Willie Maxwell II, known professionally as Fetty Wap. It was April of 2014 when Maxwell II uploaded the track Trap Queen, which quickly became the anthem of the summer (John). By the end of summer, Trap Queen had reached eleven million plays on SoundCloud, which led to a record deal with 300 Entertainment (Gruger). In addition to Maxwell II, SoundCloud also helped music artists like electronic dance musician Skrillex, hip hop rapper Post Malone, and house musician Kygo. In contrast, Spotify s direction is to provide its listeners with songs for everyone of life s moment. Spotify accomplishes this goal by creating playlists for specific genres and moods. For example, such playlists include Country, R amp;B, Rock, Holidays, Good Vibes, Mood Booster, Romance, Workout, and Focus. In addition, Spotify s goal is also to allow its users to access Spotify from anywhere through the use of mediums like Davidson 2 computers, smart phones, tablets, home entertainment systems, cars, gaming consoles, and such. It warns us about the dangers of constant fast food eating. Along with showcasing the dangers, it also gives examples of good foods to eat, how much of those foods, and methods to maintain a healthy weight. Super Size Me gives us a great example of what happens to our bodies on unhealthy diets. This documentary is a good teaching tool for anyone to learn from. Morgan commented on how losing the weight was extremely difficult and purging himself from fast food was almost like being weaned off an addicting drug. I believe that one of the main causes for an increasingly overweight and obese American population is the fast food industry. With fast food being convenient and cheaper the average busy American turns to it as a source of nutrition more times than not. Fast food in general is high in fat and sugars with little nutritional value. Eating this daily or even 3 5 times a week can most definitely negatively affect your person. I feel I can also speak from personal experience knowing that when I eat a heavy burger and don t exercise I feel much more tired and cloudier than I would on any given day. Although they get the most of the flack, it seems to me that we can t point the blame all at the fast food industry on America s weight problems. The credit for our weight issues not only goes to the fast food industry, but the general public as well. The fast food industry encourages the public to buy their food through advertisement and even reward systems, but the general public is too naive or generally don t care enough about their well being to attempt to eat a healthier diet. • 14. Observation Of A Simulus Observation Stimulus Observation Step 1 Recently, I observed a conversation on vaping which supposedly causes mold and burns in the lungs. This caused us to pause and think, why do people try things which we all know are bad? The conversation began as we brought up something about vaping and if it had negative effects. I remembered that I had once heard that mold can grow on vape user s lungs when the vapor and chemicals reach the membrane. Upon hearing this news others needed reassurance, so we looked for information on the subject. As we brought up this fact, another participant asked ¨Why do people vape or smoke when they know it is bad for them?¨ This question brings to mind our ability as Americans for self control and the human will. Step 2 We often think that surviving is our number one top priority or instinct, but we can also observe many willingly killing themselves, albeit, slowly. In another sense each time one takes a drag of smoke or vapor and harms themselves we would expect them to realize this is not helpful but actually harmful to their survival, and throw down the habit. Instead we see them urged to use more and more until we call it an unhealthy addiction. Although it is frowned upon in American culture to smoke or use tobacco of any kind, vaping, which can as has also been seen to be harmful, is seen as perfectly socially acceptable. Even though we know both smoking and vaping are harmful, one is new, exciting, and claims to be less harmful. Americans often see these transitions and think very little of them, but they both have similar ill effects we just choose to ignore one and not the other. Our culture decides what is bad, fine, or even good not based on fact or research, but our understanding and feelings of the questioned problem. Americans do not care if something causes a problem unless it is immediate and noticeable. Americans are stubborn in some ways but very open in another, we are often very wishy washy. The modern culture can t seem to look down the line and see consequences of our present actions. • 15. The Failure Of Chartism In The United States Chartism was a movement that emerged by the working class to achieve parliamentary democracy. They wanted a voice through democratic participation, and they wanted social and economic reform. The movement existed from 1838 1858 and they got their name from the People s Charter of 1838. Chartism evolved for economic and political reasons, such as feeling betrayed by the middle class, and the Whig government adopting policies that the working class viewed as a betrayal. The fall of Chartism can be attributed to a divided in the groups interests, an improvement in economic conditions, and the violence that developed during the movement. One of the reasons for their failure can be attributed to the divide in their methods and structure. Some of the Chartists believed in peace and peaceful protesting, while others believed in violence and its power to overcome the the rich and powerful that were running parliament. The movement began with peaceful petitions and the first petition in July 1839, had over one million signatures on it. When parliament rejected the petition 235 to 46 some of the Chartist members turned to violence. A man named John Frost led approximately one thousand armed members in the Newport Rising. When things turned violent many people were killed of injured, and supporters fled because they were in fear of loosing jobs, or possibly even getting killed. William Lovett, who was one of the founders of the movement, left the movement because of the violence that was now being demonstrated by the Chartists. Economic interests were also improving in the 1840 s and because the economic conditions were on the rise food and goods were not as expensive. Because of this people were slightly less concerned about the economy leading to more loss of support for the Chartists. There were also discrepancies on their third and final petition in 1848. They had lied about the amount of signatures on the petition, and some of the names listed on the petition were said to be forged or listed more than once. After that third petition the Chartists were mocked in the newspapers for the lies and forgeries. Some people were not taking them serious anymore and again, they lost more support. Arguably, the main causes of their fall was the violence, as well as the rise in economy that made the Chartists lose steam. Even though they were not successful at that time, in later years some of the Chartist ideas were incorporated into the Reform Acts of 1867 and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Gender Roles In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight The fourteenth century was not known for unconventional writing. Moreover, the first attempts at reform were occurring, causing assimilation and not much thought on sexism or the era s prevalent misogyny. Yet, writers whether deliberately or unintentionally included gender roles in their text, as they play a considerable role in all aspects of society. Gender roles are apparent in both the Pearl Poet and Geoffrey Chaucer s stories. However, the Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight fable furthers the sexist patriarchy, while Chaucer s The Miller s Tale actively dismantles conventional female roles. Both tale s descriptions of females, comments from the male protagonists, and the character development of each story s most prominent female character demonstrate the contrasting views in these texts. When examining Middle Age texts through their gender roles, one must first consider the descriptive words used to depict the story s males and females. The Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight draws upon the era s traditional concepts of male and female roles. This is exemplified when the fable opens with tales of brave mythological heroes such as world controlling Romulus and Aeneas, who represent the Middle Age s idealized male roles of strength and superiority. In contrast, the first female is described through her clothes and delicate external beauty, objectifying and fetishizing her: Queen Guenevere gaily dressed and placed in the middle, seated on the upper ... • 21. Escapism in Children s Literature Children s literature can take many forms, from far fetching science fiction to spell binding who done it mysteries. One of the most popular ideas presented in these various forms is that of escapism. The characters in these stories explore quite complex social issues in ways that are less confrontational then realism. One might consider why escape is such a central theme; as a child there are numerous benefits to fantasy, it allows readers to experiment with different views of the world and takes hypothetical situations and invites them to make connections between this fictive scenario and their own reality. John Stephens an English professor at Macquarie University has said Fantasy writing operates through metaphor so that the unfamiliar is used to stand in for, or comment upon, the familiar. The use of metaphor in Fantasy makes it more open to different readings and meanings. Take J.M. Barrie s fantasy novel Alice s Adventures in Wonderland as an example. Barrie uses his story to transport Alice to an unknown world full of backwards words and talking animals. This allows Alice to escape the boredom of picture less books and adult conversations that were beginning to consume her. Similar in theory is Neil Gaiman s style of writing. Gaiman has produced a number of Victorian influenced fantasy novels for children, including Coraline. Coraline, like Alice centers on a young girl entering another world. After analyzing 64,000 people they concluded that schizophrenics were more likely to have overactive forms of C4 A than non schizophrenic people. This finding made them believe the C4 A was the gene which may cause schizophrenia. This idea was then tested by Dr. Stevens, an assistant professor of neurology. Mice were used in the experiment to see if the nonexistence of the gene which produces C4 would impact the synaptic pruning. In most cases, they have already done it at least once. Unfortunately, this does not mean that the first business was a success or that they will be able to repeat the success the first business may have had. In fact, if the first business was a failure, there are indications that the second business may fail as well. Recent research shows that instead of learning from mistakes, entrepreneurs are just as apt to be overoptimistic after failure as before. Their overoptimism remains undimmed by failure (Ucbasaran, Westhead Wright, 2011). This overoptimism can cause an entrepreneur to take on risky opportunities, fail to properly plan for the unforeseen or waste financial resources instead of looking for and finding the right opportunity. Successful entrepreneurs looking to become repeat entrepreneurs may incorrectly over focus on recreating their success that ideas for future opportunities are not as strong as the previous ones. He did not have any physical similarities to his Mother at all; he seemed to be most like his father Mythrus. Alaric s physical features were very similar to Mythrus; also, his character very much resembled Mythrus nature. Mythrus was a builder and engineer. His tribe s genetic specialization endowed them with the innate aptitude to design, engineer, and build. The builders were the beasts of burden and were known for their strength, endurance and the superior quality of their artisanship and planning. Due to this genetic enhancement, his body also swiftly adapted to any environment. The baleful forest that he over looked still had proven to be a formidable obstacle ... The energy of the haze was so intense it built a wall around him, the effect it created was disorientating. It felt as if he were standing in between the strings of time. It was as if he was not firmly rooted in any particular place or time. That he was somehow detached from the world around him viewing the people, places, and events through the strings of time, from some other place, time, and body. He had climbed the cliffs not only to get away from that sensation, but also to try to get a better overview of the landscape; hoping he might sight a pathway through the for est. The ground of the forest was enchanted; the vines that covered it were like a hydra. They were impervious to magic, and fire. The more you cut them the faster they grew. If you stood still for too long the forest floor would grow around your feet intertwining between your legs. He stared at the darkened forest and watched it, as it appeared to writhe and taunt him and felt his frustration rise yet again. Alaric rarely encountered an obstacle that he could not readily overcome. In fact, it had been a very long time since he had experienced any sort of challenge in his life. • 38. Feeling Alone And Distracted In The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe Feeling alone and distracted The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe seems to be sad but relatable poem. The narrator is grieving over someone named Lenore but then gets distracted by a raven just as he was going to sleep. I lost a friend at age nine and was by far the hardest thing I have been through. She was my best friend we shared a lot of activities and her favorite was cheerleading. After she died I really did not want to cheer anymore but I continue to in her honor. Although she was still on mind just like I am sure Lenore was on the narrator s, I would get distracted from thinking about her while I cheering because I knew she was looking over me. I feel that by the raven saying nevermore, he was telling the narrator that it will be okay. That ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Freshman School Experience Freshman year, the first year of high school. No one knows what s going to happen and who they are in this new environment. Are you nervous? Because I am. As I walked into school, the smell of perfume and cologne filled my nose. Having my binder squeezed to my chest, and the feeling of sweaty hands; I tried not to act nervous. I see a boy walk past me, his dark brown hair and tall figure lured me as I watched him pass without a glance in my direction. As I walked down the long freshman hall with checkered tiles and cream colored lockers, the eyes of my classmates turned in my direction. The feeling of anxiety fell over me. I quickly headed to my first class when the bell rang not wanting to be late. Seeing my friends made me more comfortable. The first several periods of the day passed in a blur, finally we reached the last period, band. I walked into this dark green room with dark gray carpets. As i scanned the room looking for someone I knew I realized that all I see are people sitting in chairs that weren t familiar to me. My best friend Kelsie was sitting with a tired looked in her eyes, so I walked over to the chair next to her. As I sat there hearing the new band teacher talk about what to expect, my eyes started to wander, and immediately stopped to see the dark haired boy sitting across from me on other side of the room. Our eyes met as he smiled, and I felt my cheeks getting hot so I looked away quickly. As we were listening I could see him from the corner of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
