Anzac Day In Australia
The torment: remembering what you left behind and even worse; the prospect that you may never
return. Watching the eyes of your comrade s glaze over, while your mind explodes with horror.
Nobody can possibly question the fear, the blood, the heartache, and the terrors that haunted those
men for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, we just see all soldiers as one body, one personality; we
forget that each soldier, though fighting for the same cause, had his own moral and mental battles to
attend to. Maybe this is because it s simply too painful for us to comprehend, or maybe it is due to the
generic persona given to the soldiers by the Anzac legend. The Gallipoli campaign, though a terrible
tragedy, provided the then newly federated Australia with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some began to argue that the celebrations glorified war and allowed it to be justified. This was
rivalled by the opinion that the Gallipoli tragedies were a defining moment in Australian history, and
that Anzac day had the ability to unify the nation. Those who question the relevance of the Anzac
legend today do so in danger of being labelled as unpatriotic and disrespectful, when in reality, the
legend leaves a lot of deserving people unrepresented. Many
Australians can trace their ancestry back to a person involved in WW1, which means that families
tend to have a more emotional attachment to the topic, and they find comfort and pride in the Anzac
legend.
Although the legend doesn t really capture the diversity amongst the people who stepped up to answer
the call, nor their varying experiences, it gives depth to our nations history, and shows the raw
emotion and the kindred spirit of all the soldiers. There are so many untold stories; so many hidden
identities, and although we can never completely rectify that, it is crucial that we seek out the voices
that will never

The Pursuit Of Happiness In The Contemporary Era
The pursuit of happiness is a common zeitgeist feature that occurs across all of the humanities. The
way individuals pursue this happiness varies depending on how the time period has influences them.
This zeitgeist feature is especially apparent during the Contemporary era. There are many
advancements in the area of technology, causing one to detach from reality. The entertainment
industry allows for seriousness to be critiqued. There is a sense of paranoia stirred up by the Cold War.
The contemporary era also deals with the idea of fragmentation, which stems into different areas of
life. Each of these elements relate to one s pursuit of happiness during the contemporary era, as well
as past and future eras. Cinema in the contemporary era symbolizes the area in which it is born
because of the high dependence on technology (Kuhns). The film 13 Conversations About One Thing
provide visual evidence of this idea the pursuit of happiness and how disconnectedness plays a role in
this pursuit. In the beginning, Troy is very confident and lives in the moment. He makes a comment
about having to earn happiness, and he says that he has indeed earned happiness. Troy considers his
pursuit of happiness to have stemmed from hard work and success. This relates back to the drive for
economic prosperity within the corporate world is from the previous era. However, after hitting
Beatrice with his car, he is riding in a cab, and the cab driver tells him to smile because he looks so
serious.

Designing The Efficient Scheduling Methods For Real Time...
Abstract In this research we are presenting the problem of designing the efficient scheduling methods
for real time systems. The real time scheduling problem is nothing but the scheduling problem in
which QoS requirements should be satisfied along with task scheduling. The main objective of
scheduling problem is designing the time and QoS efficient scheduling algorithm to schedule tasks
optimally those are waiting to be served. We presented the literature study on different existing
scheduling policies with its limitations. Therefore in this research, we are presenting new Dynamic
Multilevel Priority (DMP) method of scheduling policy for RTS. As the name indicates, this method
works dynamically and as per the requirement of task scheduling. DMP algorithm is designed with
three different queues of tasks/demands scheduling based on nature of tasks. In first queue,
security/urgency related demands should be proceed with highest priority, in second queue with
second highest priority, regular demands should be proceed, while last queue is used to serve local non
real time demands. In first queue, real time packets processed with highest priority. Thus this
scheduling policy does not hold any demand for longer waiting period and hence improves the overall
QoS performance of RTSs. The practical evaluation of proposed methodology is done by using
UPPAAL tool. We have considered train gate example for evaluation of proposed scheduling policy.

Sterotyping in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Essay
Topic 1: Stereotyping. The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is based on the experiences of
one girl, Scout, growing up in Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s. The novel explains some conflicts in
Scout s life. Scout, the main character, learns that things are not always morally correct and is
confronted with the reality of prejudice and stereotyping. Scout struggles with understanding the
prejudice and stereotyping she witnesses. Atticus Finch, Scout s father, with his strongly held
convictions, wisdom, and empathy, Atticus functions as the novel s moral backbone. (2). Atticus tries
to raise his children to be fair and nonjudgmental. It is through the lessons of Atticus and Scout s
experiences with discrimination that the reader sees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the lack of evidence, the jury and town are reluctant to take the word of a black man
over two white accusers. Atticus strongly pleads for the jury to look past race and stereotypes and
serve true justice, They were confident that you gentlemen would go along with them on the
assumption the evil assumption that all Negro s lie, and that all Negros are basically immoral beings.
... I am confident that you gentlemen will review without passion the evidence you have heard, come
to a decision, and restore this defendant to his family. In the name of God, do your duty. (1).
Throughout this trial Scout not only witnesses prejudice and stereotyping, she becomes the victim of
several people throughout the book. When Scout arrives for her first day of school, she meets Miss
Caroline, a teacher from the north. Miss Caroline has predetermined thoughts as to how the class
should be taught and how the children should learn. When Scout tells the teacher she can read and
write, she is punished and told she should not learn outside of school and that she is too young to be
able to read and write. Scout was mad with Miss Caroline s refusal to accept any other teaching
method but her own. This shows how Scout was stereotyped because she was from rural Alabama and
the teacher stereotyped everyone to be dumber than herself. When Scout is verbally abused because
her father is defending Tom Robinson, she becomes

Closure of Public OHV Areas Essay
Closure of Public OHV Areas
Some years ago a new form of recreation came about known as an Off Highway Vehicle(OHV). Today
these high powered, light weight vehicles come in many forms with anywhere from four to two
wheels. There are many areas across the United States for such vehicles to be driven but as of today
there are some groups out there who wish to close the areas in which these vehicles can be used. One
area in particular, located outside of Yuma on the California and Arizona border has been subjected to
many threats recently and those who use the land for its recreational purposes have had to fight to
keep the land that was originally granted to them for use by the US government. This one area is what
many would call a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are no valid points brought to light by the CBD to logically explain why the imperial sand
dunes outside of Yuma need to be closed to off road use. To look into this argument requires that you
look more deeply into the issues that are really at hand. Now that the CBD has no claims that support
what they actually stand for, that being of something environmentally related, they must now tread
onto foreign territory saying such things as While most people who come to the Imperial Sand Dunes
respect the law and each other, as ABCNEWS reported, crimes such as alcohol and drug abuse and
acts of violence and vandalism have grown in recent years and become a serious issue
(ABCNEWS.com). and It s just a rave party mentality with offroad vehicles mixed with violence, It s
just a crazy area (James Gilbert). These are the new arguments coming forth from the sierra club
activists now that their bet which they had so heavily weighted their chips has fallen through. To make
statements such as this clearly shows the weaknesses in the CBD s argument because they have had to
leave their original stance and move onto something that does not concern them what so ever. To make
a claim such as this would be the same as if the CBD said there should be no more rock and roll
concerts because of the violence and drug use that is associated with them. The aforementioned claim
is of no relevance to what the CBD is arguing for and in turn should be immediately

Walt Disneyland Informative Speech
Walt Disney came up with the idea of Disneyland while watching his daughters play on the carrousel
at Griffith Park. The very bench that he envisioned Disneyland on can be found inside the park on
Main Street. The Happiest Place on Earth opened on July 17, 1955. The grand opening of Disneyland
was a complete disaster.
Opening day was supposed to be invitation only. However, many people forged and counterfeited the
tickets. About 30,000 people squeezed through the gates that day.
Nowadays, the park sees hundreds of thousands of people visiting the park each week. The park,
opening with only 18 attractions, was not able to cater to so many people. With the amount of people
sneaking in, food carts and restaurants all ran out of food and over ... Show more content on

Only they are not speakers, they are Smellitzers. They spray out scents such as vanilla or peppermint
to draw you into the shops. The Smellitzers are also used on some rides and attractions to make the
experience seem more realistic.
Walt wanted the park to be spotless at all times and wanted the guests to only see the magical side of
Disneyland. He and The Imagineers created their own color called Go Away Green that they used to
paint the wall around Disneyland, gates, and any unsightly equipment behind attractions. The idea was
that the color is so neutral, that it would go unnoticed by the common eye. The door to Club 33 is also
painted this color.
As Walt Disney said in his speech on opening day, To all who come to this happy place; welcome.
Disneyland is your land. Whether it comes to making your Disneyland experience as realistic as
possible or to the eerie souls that supposedly roam around the park, Walt Disney set out to please all of
his guests and cast members. Each secret of Disneyland was created for a specific reason by Walt
himself, some explained and some will never be known. The secrets live on even after Walt has
passed, represented in the candle in his apartment window and thousands of Mickey Mouse silhouettes

Suicide Informative Speech
Attention getter: Mentalhealth.gov states 112 Americans die by suicide every day, and 9.4 million
people have thought about or considered suicide within the last 12 months.
Specific purpose: Today, I am going to advocate for the Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center
Credibility: I have completed research about the Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center. I never
really knew anything about the Crisis center until I started working with a co worker that lost her son
to suicide. Talking to her and her daughter in law I learned a lot about the crisis center.
Preview: First I am going to inform you about the issue on suicide, Second, I am going to inform you
about the crisis center and all the programs and ways they can help loved ones, and finally I am going
to inform you about how you can help out and get involved.
Transition: I would first like to talk about the issues with suicide.
Main Point 1: Suicide is a rising health problem that causes endless amounts of pain, suffering and a
cause of loss for loved ones. According to the CDC, suicide claims 44,193 lives in the United states
making it the tenth leading cause of death. Suicide is the third cause for death of individuals from the
age of 15 34 and there was twice as many suicides (44,193) than homicides (17,793).
Mentalhealth.gov states that there are many warning signs when people are thinking about suicide for
example, talking about wanting to die, talking about being a burden to others, sleeping to little or too
much, and extreme mood swings.
Transition: Now that we have talked about the issues with suicide, I would like to talk about the crisis
center and how they can help loved ones.
Main Point 2: The Crisis center is full of doctors, nurses, and LPN s to help with their patient s needs.
They have 12 beds for voluntary adult admission and 7 beds for medical unit for detox and break the
cycle for voluntary adult admission. The crisis center states that their mission is to provide person
centered crisis intervention, stabilization, and recovery based services in the least restrictive
environment feasible and to no respond to evolving community mental health and chemical
dependency programming needs by developing and providing needed services. They

The Organizational Culture Of The Lincoln Electric Company
After analyzing the story of Lincoln Electric Company I ve come to the Conclusion that their
organizational culture they practicing is People oriented culture. Because the company values fairness,
supportiveness and they respect individual rights. There is a greater emphasis on expectation of
treating people with respect and dignity.
All the founders of the company had a great deal of continues influence on the positioning of the
company today, form John C. Lincoln to James F. Lincoln. John C. Lincoln started it all and James F.
Lincoln, who is the younger brother of John, took over the company to another level. One of James
Lincoln s early actions as head of the firm was to ask the employees to elect representatives to a
committee that would advise him on company operations. The Advisory Board has met with the chief
executive officer twice monthly since that time. This was only the first of a series of innovative
personnel policies that have, over the years, distinguished Lincoln Electric from its contemporaries.
The Lincoln Electric Employees Association was formed in 1919 to provide health benefits and social
activities. This organization continues today and has assumed several additional functions over the
years. By 1923, a piecework pay system was in effect, employees got two week paid vacations each
year, and wages were adjusted for changes in the Consumer Price Index. Approximately 30 percent of
Lincoln s stock was set aside for key employees in 1914 when James

Rabbits and Wolves
Introduction
I will be conducting a computer simulation called Rabbits and Wolves . In this experiment I will be
interaction with a simple forest ecosystem model that will simply take into account three organisms:
rabbits, wolves, and grass.
As defined by Environmental Science 14th Edition , an ecosystem is a set of organisms within a
defined area or volume that interact with one another and with their environment of nonliving matter
and energy. I will be using the computer simulation to alter the interactions of the organisms in the
ecosystem to see what changes occur.
Based on mathematical formulas and probability of certain events occurring, the model predicts the
changes in the populations of the three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Initial Grass Rate cut in half. The simulation was run for 201 iterations.
Graph 4
Increased Initial Population of Rabbits with Default Predation
The initial rabbit population was doubled from 20 to 40. The simulation was run for 200 iterations.
Discussion
My first objective, to view and interact with a simple scientific computer model, was most definitely
accomplished over the course of this simulation. I have done so by changing parameters, observing the
simulation, and analyzing the data that was brought about by the simulation. I also determined through
my use of the computer model that simple changes to one population in the ecosystem created through
this computer model does not change the outcome of the simulation in any major way. On the other
hand, if you completely get rid of one of the populations instead of raising or lowering

Why Vitamin C Helps Prevent The Common Cold Or Not
My topic is whether vitamin C helps prevent the common cold or not. In the Medical Journal of
Australia it described a study that was a double blind, randomized clinical trial with comparing the
effects of different doses and formulations of vitamin C. Vitamin C doses at a daily dose was 0.03 g
the placebo, and then 1 g, 3 g or Bio C with additives such as bioflavonoids 75mg, rutin 150 mg,
hisperidin 150 mg, rose hip extract 750 mg, and acerola 150 mg that was taken at onset of a cold and
the following two days. There were 400 healthy volunteers that were recruited from staff and students
of Australian National University for 18 months. A random number table was constructed to order the
medications sequentially, so each sequence of four numbers comprised all four types of medications.
The medications were issued to investigators in 400 sequentially numbered sets of three bottles, each
bottle containing the daily dose in three tablets. Of those 400 sets of medication, they were distributed
to 323 volunteers. As volunteers joined the study, they were given a set of three bottles and a
correspondingly numbered respiratory event card to record outcome. The code was retained by the
manufacturer until ready to analyze results. These participants were instructed to take the medication
when starting to experience two symptoms for a minimum of four hours before taking the medication.
They also had to record their daily symptoms and the severity of them, the doctor visits and the

Persuasive Essay Homework
Have you ever heard a the bell go off signaling the end of the school day and you just want to get
home and relax, but you remember you have a ton of homework to do? This constantly happens to me
all the time. A lot times I get homework from multiple classes all in one day. Often after school I have
sports which already takes up enough time. Usually I get my assignments turned in on time, but to the
expense of spending time with friends or family. Sometimes when I get home and start doing my
homework I might struggle with the topic and there isn t a teacher there to help me, so I m left trying
to search for websites that might help me or ask my parents to help. Having homework on a daily
basis is causing problems for me, and I think incorporating time in the school day can really help in
solving this issue. There are many causes to this problem. First of all many teacher feel that they need
to give homework to see if a student understands the lesson they are on. I understand why teachers
give homework for this reason however there are many other ways of tracking a students
understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions at the beginning of class. Another
reason for homework is there isn t enough dedicated time to do work at school. Teachers use
homework to use for students grades. There are many reasons for students receiving homework, but
receiving little to no homework could really be beneficial to students. Getting large amount of
homework has negatively affected me in many ways. In Is to Much Homework Bad For Kid s Health?
By Sandra Levy, it states communities who spend too much time on homework experience more
stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance in their lives, and alienation from society. I find that
homework causes me a lot of stress. Many days I find myself up late at night trying to complete
homework, and this causes a lot of stress. The next day when I go to school I m tired and get even
more stressed. When I spend time doing homework outside of school I spend less with family and
friends. I often have trouble with balancing homework, time with family, and athletics. To succeed in
the future you need to learn the skill of balancing things, but it s hard to learn it

The Artistic And Architectural Evidence For The Nubian...
Sam Morton
ART 2813
March 6, 2017
Describe the artistic and architectural evidence for the Nubian assimilation of Egyptian forms and
ideas.
Nubians art and architecture is traced back hundreds of years. They urbanized one of the oldest and
utmost civilizations in their region until they lost their last empire years ago. Nubia was a land of
expected wealth and prosperity and Sudan had remained the main home of Nubians through their long
history, but many live in Egypt today. Nubian art impacted Egyptian Art through their past art and

These forms were perhaps used to satisfy the desire to fill the void with selected or mixed elements
that may have resulted in a kind of chaos or art. It can be distinguishing by the manner in which the
artist regulates the elements of his composition by reflecting all the elements of the design which are
used for functional and aesthetic purposes.
The Nubians were also remarkable in their architecture. Ancient constructions that appeared to be
palaces at their time are discovered throughout Northern Sudan. Archeologists excavated the land and
identified few dwellings that date back to the pre Kerma period. Remarkably large huts reaching seven
meters in diameter have been found and interpreted by some as residence of wealthy individuals. The
architectural materials, structures, and the presence of staircases in most of the palaces suggest that
they were mostly built of more than one floor. The majority of the palaces had a rectangular or square
plans with long corridors and narrow rectangular rooms. The temples of the Kushite Kingdom were
built of durable materials, such as red fired bricks and stories that helped them to endure the ravages
of time and nature. Temple columns were worked with extensive designs curved to shape lotus flowers
and the heads of gods Bes and Hathor. One known Egyptian temple is The temple of Ramses II, and
the temple of Nefertiti dedicated to Hathor, they stood for a very long time, until they had a

The Stone Age Poem
The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of
body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue
The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On
the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing
away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in
that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent.
(Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of
rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is
described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the
four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove,
you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you
read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their
shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age)
In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her individuality and
challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly expressed in this poem.

The Importance Of Identity In My Life
What is Identity? For almost everyone, they would say that it is who you are. But, it means so much
more. Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are and the
decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity can change in
a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome
In my life, I have had various events that contribute to my identity. One of the biggest events that have
affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around the age of five. It was around 5 at night,
and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that I didn t like
the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I was going to
grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t cry, but it did
make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my vision became very
blurry, and all I could hear was a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all of a sudden everything
went black. When I came to I was on the floor with a throbbing headache. My babysitter had already
called my mother, and she was already on her way to the house. She only worked a couple minutes
away from her house so it didn t take very long for her to arrive there. When she came inside the
house, she looked scared. She kept asking me what happened, but I had no idea. She then grabbed my

Anthrax (Bacillus Anthracis) Essay
Anthrax (Bacillus anthracis) is an acute infectious disease caused by the spore forming bacterium. The
most common victims of anthrax are warm blooded animals, but it can also infect humans. Anthrax
spores can be produced in a powdery form for biological warfare. When inhaled by humans, these
particles cause respiratory failure and death within a week. Because anthrax is considered to be a
potential agent for use in biological warfare, the Department of Defense (DOD), in 1998, announced it
would begin a systematic vaccination of all U.S. military personnel. (DOD, 1998) Anthrax infection

Inhalation: Initial symptoms may resemble a common cold. After several days, the symptoms may
progress to severe breathing problems and shock. Inhalation anthrax usually results in death in 1 2
days after onset of the acute symptoms.
Intestinal: The intestinal disease form of anthrax may follow ingestion of contaminated meat and is
characterized by an acute inflammation of the intestinal tract. Nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting and
fever are followed by abdominal pain, vomiting of blood, and severe diarrhea. Intestinal anthrax
results in death in 25% to 60% of cases. The incubation period is usually within seven days. There are
no reports of the disease spreading from human to human. Direct person to person spread of anthrax

Safety Issues for Women Traveling Solo
Stay Safe But Don t Stay Home

Zaraha Heckscher(left) with a Musonda friend in Zambia from Safety Issues for Women Traveling
Solo: Stay Safe But Don t Stay Home.
Women are frequently warned about independent international travel. Unfortunately, it is true that
women are much more likely than men to be the victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault. In
virtually every country I have visited I heard from female travelers and volunteers who had been
subjected to frequent come ons, unwanted touching, or inappropriate comments, in the words of one
Peace Corps volunteer. Harassment and assault range from verbal harassment, to crude propositions,
to groping (especially by men in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from local women. In Mexico, for example, women often sit together, even if they don t know each

Be careful about letting your guard down while on vacation. Travel with a group at night. Before
you leave home, talk to other women who have traveled in the countries you plan to visit. The in
country program director cautioned us against looking or staring at the men for too long at a time; this
could be misinterpreted since the women in the local villages were taught not to make eye contact
with the men. Be ready to give up some freedoms that you are used to at home. Females must take
care with their dealings with any male older than 14 and younger than 75. I was often misunderstood
at first and didn t realize that plain speaking and looking at a man directly when speaking to him could
be misinterpreted as flirting. I learned quickly to be very formal and to always involve several people
in any conversation. Don t be afraid to ask about the security situation where you are posted and find
out about any prior incidents that may have occurred in the area. When it comes to your life, you can t
be too cautious. No matter what you do or don t do, remember that it is not your fault if you are

Potato Famine Research Paper
The potato famine started in the mid 1800s and lasted for several years, killing over a million irish
people and causing 6 million to flee the country. Potatoes were vital to the irish diet, many irish people
ate mostly potatoes since they were so poor. Many got infected by this epidemic. This report will talk
about the irish potato famine.
The potato blight was originally discovered in Belgium. The potato blight hit Ireland in 1845 in june.
Know it is known that the same infection also hit America in 1843 and 1845. Some experts believe it
migrated in ships sailing from North America to Europe. It also may have been imported from South
America where many European countries got their fertilizer from.
The potato was first cultivated in South America between three and seven thousand years ago by Incas

In July of 1846 only one fourth of the normal crop was saved. In June of the same year, Lord John
Russell became Prime Minister of a minority Whig government. The Whigs believed in the policies of
laissez faire economics and therefore, were committed to free trade and were opposed to interfering
with normal commerce, either by importing cheap foodstuffs or, as was the done in previous crises, by
preventing the export of food (Kissane 45). Under normal circumstances, such policies would be
appropriate, but during the famine they only led to disaster.
One of the most remarkable facts about the famine period is that there was an average monthly export
of food from Ireland worth 100,000 Pound Sterling. Almost throughout the five year famine, Ireland
remained a net exporter of food.
Potato thrived in damp irish climate. Many farmers from other countries came to farm the potato and
bought land. The potato was a good crop for small parcels of land because of its high yield per acre.
This helped double the population from 4 million to 8

Student Loans Argumentative Essay
As educational cost has altogether expanded in the course of the last 20 30 years, it has turned out to
be extremely prevalent for college students to support their financial costs through student loans.
Higher educational costs have turned out to be so expensive that it is nearly impossible for students to
accommodate these expenses by just working alone. Education loan debt in the United States now
stands at approximately $ 1.2 trillion, and some thirty nine million Americans, nearly 20% of U.S.
households, owe student loans (Austin, 2015). As a result, countless numbers of college students hold
a large obligation to pay off these student loans once they graduate. Obligation from such student
loans has turned into a classic reality and something students of this generation expect when being
admitted to a university. Individuals trust that an education from a university is justified regardless of
the sticker price. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis About Love Song
Where is the love? Is the name of the Black Eyed Peas song that made its debut in 2003, 12 years have
passed still till this day this song is relevant to what is going on in our world. The name is just so
intriguing it makes the audience wonder what is going to be said and what is the song about? Is it just
another love song or can it be about something else? It captures the audience immediately.
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism, but we still got terrorists her livin in the USA, the big CIA,

This appeal is the one that is most prevalent and is shown through Aristotle s three criteria to stimulate
emotions from the audience. This song does an amazing job of connecting with the audience on an
emotional level and it also touches the audience in some way or other. After I thoroughly read the
lyrics I realized that it makes you want to make a change and get involved. I know that after I hear this
song I want to go out and do something better for this world and make it a better place. Every day on
the news we hear and see the horrible things that are happening and we stop and say well what can
you do about it? But once this song is heard it s like you want to start the change and make a
difference in some way. Can you practice what you preach and would you turn the other cheek this
really struck me hard when I first sat down and took it in. Can you really just walk away from all the
horrible things that are going on or can you make that difference that is talked about all the time?
Aristotle mentions the 3 criteria s which are understanding the state of mind of the audience, who can
excite the emotions, and understanding the reasons why people become emotional. These 3 can be
seen in the line people killin, people dyin , children hurt and you hear them crying. This line is so

Examples Of Power Corrupts
Many would say that power corrupts. The phrase penned by John Dalberg, Power corrupts, and
absolute power corrupts absolutely, has become a cliché idiom thrown about when discussing power.
Does it really though? Does power really corrupt every man it touches? Power is merely a tool, neither
inherently good nor bad. Power, similar to magic , is subject to the one who wields it. If something
wicked wields power, the power will lead to wicked things. However, power in the hands of good will
lead to good things it is a reflection of the heart. In J.R.R. Tolkien s book The Fellowship of the Ring
his characters exhibit different reactions to power. Some crave it, others lust for it, and one in
particular shuns it. Power is a tool; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne... (Tolkien 49). The men were doomed
to die. Similarly, in our world men are doomed to die without the salvation of Jesus, for all have
sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and they are justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23 24) This is why men in Tolkien s books have
such a hard time handling power. For example the nine mortal men give in to the temptation to abuse
their power and consequently they turn into wraiths, undying slaves of Sauron. Man s heart is corrupt
in Middle Earth same as it is corrupt in our world, and this is why it appears that power always
corrupts when it is really just the corruption of man brought to light by the influence of power. The
great sin here is lust. The lust for power, or money, or women, or gold (Thorin Oakenshield) is the
great downfall of man. Each thing individually is not evil, but it is the lust that is, and it is the lust that

greater emphasis is placed on the human capital i.e. employees of an organization since it is this
people component of an organization that gives an organization its distinction from others and
enhances its competitive edge (Cohen, 2005; Holland Sheelan and de Cieri, 2007). The employees of

When You Are Old By William Butler Yeats
When You Are Old is a poem that was written by William Butler Yeats in 1891. It is a poem about a
person who wants to be remembered by those he loves. It is a story about dreams forgotten and
memories long gone. Yeats captured a feeling of longing in this poem that some people may never
understand unless they have a relationship that is more to them than any other relationship they will
ever have. When You Are Old talks about a woman who was loved by a man until he died. It is a story
of how a life should be remembered by a person who loved another. When You Are Old is about the
love of a man for a woman whom he had on a pedestal. He felt this woman was loved by many with a
true and deep love and loved by others with a false love. He felt this woman was loved much like
people today love celebrities. Yeats wrote about this woman as though he knew her intimately. He asks
her to slowly read, and dream of the soft look, Your eyes had once and of their shadows deep (Yeats).
He wants her to remember how things were in her youth. He wants her to remember her dreams and
think of how things were and how they may have been. Yeats is asking her to take her time and day
dream about her glory days. In the first lines of the poem Yeats describes this woman as old and grey
and full of sleep (Yeats). The speaker of the poem addresses his beloved saying that when she is aged
she should read a particular book which will remind her of her youth. She will remember the

The Collegiate Experience Of Student Athletes
The collegiate experience of student athletes varies across the sports played, divisions, and grade
level. Division one athletes are the most likely to be engaged in the college experience than other
athletes (NCAA, 2015). One big predictor in the level that student engage in the college experience is
whether they view themselves as an athlete or a student (NCAA, 2015). That decision holds
implications from there on. Those who identify more as an athlete and less as a student tend to have
lower gpa s, and devote less time to their academic work than other students. Those that identify as
students have an average gpa of 3.2, spend 30 hours on athletics, 40 on academics, and miss an
average of 1.3 classes (NCAA, 2015). Those that identify more as athletes have an average gpa of 2.9,
spend 35 hours a week on athletics, spend 36 on academics, and miss an average of 1.7 classes
(NCAA, 2015). The amount of time spent toward various activities varies across different sports and
the level of commitment they require. Despite this student athletes in all sports generally commit large
amounts of time to both athletics and academic endeavors (NCAA, 2015). The majority of student
athletes report that they are actively involved in their campus community outside of athletics and
believe that their athletics participation has benefited them socially (NCAA, 2015). A research study
done by the NCAA examined social participation across several platforms. They are as follows;

How Is Curley Presented by Steinbeck in of Mice and Men Essay
How is Curley presented by Steinbeck in Of Mice and Men? Curley is one of Of Mice and Men s
major characters. Although he does not appear to hold a central role, he is very important in other
respects. The first of these is the way in which he treats George and Lennie, and the ranch workers in
general on the ranch. Curley is the boss son. Therefore he acts like he is the boss himself. He orders
the others around, and, although it is true that he does hold some power on the ranch, he does not hold

anger at being picked on. This turns out to be a mistake. Lennie quickly crushes his hand, and Curley

Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
In Margaret Atwood s Oryx and Crake, she describes a frightening dystopian futuristic society that
consists of the compounds and the pleeblands. The compounds are home to wealthier class, that work
in industrial plants during the day and enjoy the shopping malls and fancy dining at night. The
pleeblands are nearly the exact opposite. Snowman, the main character of the novel and former
inhabitant of the compounds, describes them as disease infested, drug ridden ghettos. These two
communities could not be further separated. Unfortunately, it appears as if Margaret Atwood s
dystopia is upon us. In Slavoj Zizek s Violence, we are reminded of the time period just several years

Zizek is trying to address a systemic problem of objective violence that is a result of global isolation
and division. He writes on page 102, This new racism of the developed is in a way much more brutal
than the previous ones: its implicit legitimisation is neither naturalist (the natural superiority of the
developed West) nor any longer cultural (we in the West want to preserve our cultural identity), but
unabashed economic egotism. The fundamental divide is one between those included in the sphere of
(relative) economic prosperity and those excluded from it (102). This quote perfectly describes the
global epidemic that we now face, where the global community is so fixated on building walls and
turning our heads to those who do not fit our mold. What is more frightening, however, is that
economic egotism along with racial and sociological isolation is happening on a domestic basis. It s
not as simple as national pride and desire to keep our cultural intact, as Zizek notes. Rather, in the
United States, seen first hand in New Orleans, there is a blatant rejection for those who are not on the
same economic and social platform as ourselves(102). In Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood illustrates
a fantastical world with compounds and pleeblands. Over the course of the book the reader is given
many images of the pleeblands. A good example is when

Analysis Of Dear White People
The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of racial
identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not
particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society
where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of
colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League
university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness,
and misplaced power.
Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided
racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is
also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white
people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where
she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as
oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in
season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look
up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam
tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that
one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t
blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who
oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people
for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how
white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the
group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any
better. This message is not obvious but still heavily embedded throughout the series.

In the fourth chapter of Paul s first letter to the Thessalonians, he expounds on The Rapture of The
Church, (1 Thess. 4:16 17) an event where Christ comes to take His bride, the church, to heaven in the
twinkling of an eye (an instant). Suddenly, without warning, all Christians either living, or who have
died in the Lord, will be bodily resurrected. Members of Christ s church will receive their glorified
heavenly bodies, similar to Christ s resurrection body. Many, including myself, believe this event will
take place before the seven year Tribulation Period when The Antichrist rules the world, and God s

* Improved quality of the products due to reduced defects * Designs can be easily adapted to market
trends due to decrease throughput time.
Example: The average sewing throughput time of a garment dropped from 15 working days to 1
working day by converting sewing department setup from traditional to cellular. * Results in low
inventory and in turn low cost of inventory management freeing idle capital. * Workers in cellular
operations are more flexible due to cross training. * Wait time between each operation is reduced. *
Can plan for more than two annual collections * Stocks can be supplied to wholesalers on a daily basis
to reduce burden * Reduction in WIP by converting to

Pros And Cons Of Genetic Modification
When it comes to the topic of genetic modification, most of us will readily agree that genetic
modification should be allowed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of
how genetic modification can be dangerous. Whereas some are convinced that people should be able
to modify their genes, others maintain that modifying genes can cause too many risks and dangers for
humanity. Genetic modification should not be allowed because it is unacceptable to change the natural
course of human life. Many scientists will say that genetic modification will advance medical
technology. They claim that modifying genes will help understand more about the human DNA and its
purpose in medicine, and reproductive technology. While modifying ... Show more content on

When experimenting with genes, scientists need to combine or insert a set of genes with other genes in
order to enable the genes to serve a certain function in the human body. These combinations of genes
will pose as a serious threat to the human health. According to the article Super Viruses Through
Genetic Engineering by Professor Joe Cummins, he states genetic recombination is capable of creating
virus (or other pathogens) with genes that allow the pathogen to overcome host defense and to spread
with little or no control (Cummins). In making this comment, Joe Cummins urges us to be aware that
creating viruses or other pathogens are possible and it can be devastating to a person s health when
their bodies are exposed to these viruses. These viruses can be spread throughout other humans and
can cause a worldwide epidemic. With these new viruses being created, the human immune system
may not be able to defend the body with these viruses. It will can deaths among many people

Aphorisms In The Importance Of Being Earnest
One of Oscar Wilde s most notable works, The Importance of Being Earnest, showcases Wilde s
bizarre and arguably backwards take on the literary device known as an aphorism. Most commonly,
aphorisms are used in a didactic context and tend to reflect some form of ethical guideline or universal
truth. It is easy to write off Wilde s utilization of the device as ironic, as the aphorisms used in the play
demonstrate values that are diametrically opposed to those we recognize in the real world; however,
due to the aforementioned fact that aphorisms are typically meant to point out a universal truth, it can
be argued that Wilde s use of the device is quite proper in the sense that the specific universe created
in the work just happens to be different

Difference in Social Relations Between City Dwellers and...
Why are the social relations between urban and rural areas so different and what causes these
differences to occur? This question is what I am going to be arguing. I will be doing this not only
through my opinions and ideas, but also through the works of Georg Simmel, Louis Wirth and Ernest
Burgess. All three of these urban scholars add a slightly different view of urbanism as a way of life.
Georg Simmel s interpretation of interpersonal social relations in the city is one based on the stimulus
a person comes in contact with. Simmel writes this in his essay, The Metropolis and Mental Life. He
clearly states, The intensification of emotional life due to the swift and continuous shift of external
and internal stimuli. (Blackwell, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simmel s work overlaps with that of Louis Wirth. Most notably their work overlaps in the struggle to
define the social relationships that are made in urban societies to those that are made in rural
communities. Wirth conveys this message in his work called, Urbanism as a Way of Life. Wirth
writes, The superficiality, the anonymity, and the transitory character of urban social relations make
intelligible, also, the sophistication and the rationality generally ascribed to city dwellers. (Metropolis,
68) Both Wirth and Simmel are aware that the social relationships of city dwellers are ones based on
intelligence and rationality and are removed of emotion. However, with Wirth, I would like to focus
on his idea that a city is not only high in population, but it is also high density and high heterogeneity
and how these things play a role in the social relationships of rural and urban communities.
First, I would like to look at the competition levels between city dwellers and people in rural
communities. The high population and high density play a huge role in the amount of competition that
takes place in the city, compared to the amount that takes place in rural communities. The sheer
number of people and the relatively small area that they share cause the competition level to rise
exponentially. Also, the lack of emotional connections between city

Islam Project, Shah, The Empire Of The Safavid Empire
Alix Barry
C C Period 6
Islam Project, Shah Ismail of the Safavid Empire
Ismail I lived during a turbulent time in Iran s history. It was a period of political fragmentation and
decentralization [Richard C. Martin]. He was the founder of the Safavid Empire. In 1501, he named
himself the Shah, king, of the empire and proclaimed Twelver religion the official religion of state. It
took him almost over a decade to consolidate his control over all of Iran, where most of the Persian
population still practiced as Sunni. His Qizilbash military was given the task to convert anyone on
Safavid territory to Twelver Islam and the army succeeded. Ismail was a remarkable leader when he
set his mind to it, yet the Ottoman empire instigated a war against the Safavid empire because of the
increase of Shia population. Ismail was caught by surprise and the Qizilbash were defeated. The
aftermath of the battle was severe; Ismail was so embarrassed by the defeat he became inattentive to
any Qizilbash work and military affairs of state. He broke down and started to write poems about
pious Muslims and how they worship their god. The shah died at age 36, after becoming an alcoholic,
but the Safavid empire continued for over 200 years after. The Safavid Empire was founded on the
unified front of their population, their military strength and intolerance for other beliefs but their own.
Great military strength and the ability to conquest many empires was not a very common attribute
many kings had

The Philadelphia Story Essay
There is no doubt that The Philadelphia Story is one of the best American romantic comedy file in
1904. Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart are protagonist in this film, but Katherine
Hepburn s acting make me so impressive. After finishing watching this film, I fall in love with this
wonderful story not just because Katharine Hepburn is a beautiful as well as elegant lady, but lots of
plots of this film are thoughtful and interesting. The most important event in The Philadelphia Story is
the second wedding for a lady, Tracy, who is born in a rich family in Philadelphia. Since Dexter, who
is Tracy s first husband, cannot match her standards, she gets divorce with him in the end. Two years
after her divorce, she is going to get married again. What s more, her fiancé is a very famous person;
therefore, one of the most well known magazine wants to report Tracy s second wedding. In order to
help a photographer and a journalist join the wedding, Dexter asks them to pretend to be friends of
Tracy s brother. However, it cannot escape Tracy s eyes, and she finds out their trick quickly after she
sees them. Unfortunately, even though she knows they are not she brother s friend, she cannot say
anything about that and neither her family can because the magazine has evident to show that her
father has affair with a lady dancer. And if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, Costume can show their class in the society. For example, the costume of a rich person must be
very beautiful and expensive, and the costume of a poor person must be ragged and cheap. And in the
movie, Tracy s costumes are always beautiful and expensive which show her elegance and richness.
Therefore, the costume changes for female actor is very important because their costumes can always
tell the audience what they are doing

The Recurring Theme Of Death In The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe s works have a recurring theme of death. Both the raven and the mask of red death
follows the theme. Both the raven and the mask of the red death Poe uses vivid imagery to develop the
theme of death.
First The Raven includes vivid imagery to demonstrate the certainty of death. Deep into the darkness

darkness and hopes that his wife has returned. But whose violet lining with the lamp light gloating o er

Cesar Freire s Pedagogy Of The Oppressed
Paulo Freire s Pedagogy of the Oppressed presents two distinct educational methods and asserts that
problem posing education, rather than the banking method, is what is necessary for humanity. This
particular excerpt of Pedagogy of the Oppressed encapsulates a vast scope of education. It begins with
an exposition, revealing what exactly banking method is, followed by the explanation of problem
posing education. Throughout the duration of the chapter, Freire passionately presents his ideals about
education through the scopes of these two educational styles. Pedagogy of the Oppressed starts off
with an explanation that the focus of his analysis is the relationship between teachers and students.
First, Freire believes that the majority of teachers today talk about reality as if it were motionless,
static, compartmentalized, and predictable (Paolo Freire). He uses lucidly negative diction like hollow
and alienating to describe the words these teachers speak, emphasizing that this clearly isn t enough
when it comes to educating students Freire goes on to call this particular type of educating narrative
education (Freire). Narrative education is where teachers act as the omnipotent being. Students are
merely taught everything as if it were objectively the same as any other fact, and not taught the
significance. Teachers do not learn anything from the students, either. Narrative education is a one
way street. An aspect of narrative education is the polarizing idea of

The Tragic Characters Of Sophocles Antigone
In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because
of their mistakes or poor judgment. If characters fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these
characters are tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle s principles
which include hamartia, hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all
six of Aristotle s principles, then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two
examples of Aristotelian tragic characters are from Sophocles Greek play Antigone from the trilogy
dealing with Oedipus and his children (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two
Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself.
Creon s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not
listen to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he
also did this because of his pride. In Antigone, Creon is an Aristotelian tragic character. His six
principles are more obvious to the reader. Tiresias tries to warn Creon as to what will come if he doesn
t change his ways now, but he ignores Tiresias even though he is a prophet. Creon says Tiresias sold
his wisdom and lets out his words for hire (Sophocles 837). This means that Creon thinks that Tiresias
has come to say these things to him because someone pays Tiresias

  • 2. Anzac Day In Australia The torment: remembering what you left behind and even worse; the prospect that you may never return. Watching the eyes of your comrade s glaze over, while your mind explodes with horror. Nobody can possibly question the fear, the blood, the heartache, and the terrors that haunted those men for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, we just see all soldiers as one body, one personality; we forget that each soldier, though fighting for the same cause, had his own moral and mental battles to attend to. Maybe this is because it s simply too painful for us to comprehend, or maybe it is due to the generic persona given to the soldiers by the Anzac legend. The Gallipoli campaign, though a terrible tragedy, provided the then newly federated Australia with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some began to argue that the celebrations glorified war and allowed it to be justified. This was rivalled by the opinion that the Gallipoli tragedies were a defining moment in Australian history, and that Anzac day had the ability to unify the nation. Those who question the relevance of the Anzac legend today do so in danger of being labelled as unpatriotic and disrespectful, when in reality, the legend leaves a lot of deserving people unrepresented. Many Australians can trace their ancestry back to a person involved in WW1, which means that families tend to have a more emotional attachment to the topic, and they find comfort and pride in the Anzac legend. Although the legend doesn t really capture the diversity amongst the people who stepped up to answer the call, nor their varying experiences, it gives depth to our nations history, and shows the raw emotion and the kindred spirit of all the soldiers. There are so many untold stories; so many hidden identities, and although we can never completely rectify that, it is crucial that we seek out the voices that will never ... • 4. The Pursuit Of Happiness In The Contemporary Era The pursuit of happiness is a common zeitgeist feature that occurs across all of the humanities. The way individuals pursue this happiness varies depending on how the time period has influences them. This zeitgeist feature is especially apparent during the Contemporary era. There are many advancements in the area of technology, causing one to detach from reality. The entertainment industry allows for seriousness to be critiqued. There is a sense of paranoia stirred up by the Cold War. The contemporary era also deals with the idea of fragmentation, which stems into different areas of life. Each of these elements relate to one s pursuit of happiness during the contemporary era, as well as past and future eras. Cinema in the contemporary era symbolizes the area in which it is born because of the high dependence on technology (Kuhns). The film 13 Conversations About One Thing provide visual evidence of this idea the pursuit of happiness and how disconnectedness plays a role in this pursuit. In the beginning, Troy is very confident and lives in the moment. He makes a comment about having to earn happiness, and he says that he has indeed earned happiness. Troy considers his pursuit of happiness to have stemmed from hard work and success. This relates back to the drive for economic prosperity within the corporate world is from the previous era. However, after hitting Beatrice with his car, he is riding in a cab, and the cab driver tells him to smile because he looks so serious. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Designing The Efficient Scheduling Methods For Real Time... Abstract In this research we are presenting the problem of designing the efficient scheduling methods for real time systems. The real time scheduling problem is nothing but the scheduling problem in which QoS requirements should be satisfied along with task scheduling. The main objective of scheduling problem is designing the time and QoS efficient scheduling algorithm to schedule tasks optimally those are waiting to be served. We presented the literature study on different existing scheduling policies with its limitations. Therefore in this research, we are presenting new Dynamic Multilevel Priority (DMP) method of scheduling policy for RTS. As the name indicates, this method works dynamically and as per the requirement of task scheduling. DMP algorithm is designed with three different queues of tasks/demands scheduling based on nature of tasks. In first queue, security/urgency related demands should be proceed with highest priority, in second queue with second highest priority, regular demands should be proceed, while last queue is used to serve local non real time demands. In first queue, real time packets processed with highest priority. Thus this scheduling policy does not hold any demand for longer waiting period and hence improves the overall QoS performance of RTSs. The practical evaluation of proposed methodology is done by using UPPAAL tool. We have considered train gate example for evaluation of proposed scheduling policy. Keyword: Real Time ... • 6. Sterotyping in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Essay Topic 1: Stereotyping. The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is based on the experiences of one girl, Scout, growing up in Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s. The novel explains some conflicts in Scout s life. Scout, the main character, learns that things are not always morally correct and is confronted with the reality of prejudice and stereotyping. Scout struggles with understanding the prejudice and stereotyping she witnesses. Atticus Finch, Scout s father, with his strongly held convictions, wisdom, and empathy, Atticus functions as the novel s moral backbone. (2). Atticus tries to raise his children to be fair and nonjudgmental. It is through the lessons of Atticus and Scout s experiences with discrimination that the reader sees ... I am confident that you gentlemen will review without passion the evidence you have heard, come to a decision, and restore this defendant to his family. In the name of God, do your duty. (1). Throughout this trial Scout not only witnesses prejudice and stereotyping, she becomes the victim of several people throughout the book. When Scout arrives for her first day of school, she meets Miss Caroline, a teacher from the north. Miss Caroline has predetermined thoughts as to how the class should be taught and how the children should learn. When Scout tells the teacher she can read and write, she is punished and told she should not learn outside of school and that she is too young to be able to read and write. Scout was mad with Miss Caroline s refusal to accept any other teaching method but her own. This shows how Scout was stereotyped because she was from rural Alabama and the teacher stereotyped everyone to be dumber than herself. • 7. Closure of Public OHV Areas Essay Closure of Public OHV Areas Some years ago a new form of recreation came about known as an Off Highway Vehicle(OHV). Today these high powered, light weight vehicles come in many forms with anywhere from four to two wheels. There are many areas across the United States for such vehicles to be driven but as of today there are some groups out there who wish to close the areas in which these vehicles can be used. One area in particular, located outside of Yuma on the California and Arizona border has been subjected to many threats recently and those who use the land for its recreational purposes have had to fight to keep the land that was originally granted to them for use by the US government. This one area is what many would call a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are no valid points brought to light by the CBD to logically explain why the imperial sand dunes outside of Yuma need to be closed to off road use. To look into this argument requires that you look more deeply into the issues that are really at hand. Now that the CBD has no claims that support what they actually stand for, that being of something environmentally related, they must now tread onto foreign territory saying such things as While most people who come to the Imperial Sand Dunes respect the law and each other, as ABCNEWS reported, crimes such as alcohol and drug abuse and acts of violence and vandalism have grown in recent years and become a serious issue (ABCNEWS.com). and It s just a rave party mentality with offroad vehicles mixed with violence, It s just a crazy area (James Gilbert). These are the new arguments coming forth from the sierra club activists now that their bet which they had so heavily weighted their chips has fallen through. To make statements such as this clearly shows the weaknesses in the CBD s argument because they have had to leave their original stance and move onto something that does not concern them what so ever. To make a claim such as this would be the same as if the CBD said there should be no more rock and roll concerts because of the violence and drug use that is associated with them. The aforementioned claim is of no relevance to what the CBD is arguing for and in turn should be immediately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Walt Disneyland Informative Speech Walt Disney came up with the idea of Disneyland while watching his daughters play on the carrousel at Griffith Park. The very bench that he envisioned Disneyland on can be found inside the park on Main Street. The Happiest Place on Earth opened on July 17, 1955. The grand opening of Disneyland was a complete disaster. Opening day was supposed to be invitation only. However, many people forged and counterfeited the tickets. About 30,000 people squeezed through the gates that day. Nowadays, the park sees hundreds of thousands of people visiting the park each week. He and The Imagineers created their own color called Go Away Green that they used to paint the wall around Disneyland, gates, and any unsightly equipment behind attractions. The idea was that the color is so neutral, that it would go unnoticed by the common eye. The door to Club 33 is also painted this color. As Walt Disney said in his speech on opening day, To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Whether it comes to making your Disneyland experience as realistic as possible or to the eerie souls that supposedly roam around the park, Walt Disney set out to please all of his guests and cast members. The Organizational Culture Of The Lincoln Electric Company After analyzing the story of Lincoln Electric Company I ve come to the Conclusion that their organizational culture they practicing is People oriented culture. Because the company values fairness, supportiveness and they respect individual rights. There is a greater emphasis on expectation of treating people with respect and dignity. All the founders of the company had a great deal of continues influence on the positioning of the company today, form John C. Lincoln to James F. Lincoln. John C. Lincoln started it all and James F. Lincoln, who is the younger brother of John, took over the company to another level. One of James Lincoln s early actions as head of the firm was to ask the employees to elect representatives to a committee that would advise him on company operations. The Advisory Board has met with the chief executive officer twice monthly since that time. This was only the first of a series of innovative personnel policies that have, over the years, distinguished Lincoln Electric from its contemporaries. The Lincoln Electric Employees Association was formed in 1919 to provide health benefits and social activities. This organization continues today and has assumed several additional functions over the years. By 1923, a piecework pay system was in effect, employees got two week paid vacations each year, and wages were adjusted for changes in the Consumer Price Index. • 12. Why Vitamin C Helps Prevent The Common Cold Or Not My topic is whether vitamin C helps prevent the common cold or not. In the Medical Journal of Australia it described a study that was a double blind, randomized clinical trial with comparing the effects of different doses and formulations of vitamin C. Vitamin C doses at a daily dose was 0.03 g the placebo, and then 1 g, 3 g or Bio C with additives such as bioflavonoids 75mg, rutin 150 mg, hisperidin 150 mg, rose hip extract 750 mg, and acerola 150 mg that was taken at onset of a cold and the following two days. There were 400 healthy volunteers that were recruited from staff and students of Australian National University for 18 months. A random number table was constructed to order the medications sequentially, so each sequence of four numbers comprised all four types of medications. The medications were issued to investigators in 400 sequentially numbered sets of three bottles, each bottle containing the daily dose in three tablets. Of those 400 sets of medication, they were distributed to 323 volunteers. As volunteers joined the study, they were given a set of three bottles and a correspondingly numbered respiratory event card to record outcome. The code was retained by the manufacturer until ready to analyze results. These participants were instructed to take the medication when starting to experience two symptoms for a minimum of four hours before taking the medication. • 13. Persuasive Essay Homework Have you ever heard a the bell go off signaling the end of the school day and you just want to get home and relax, but you remember you have a ton of homework to do? This constantly happens to me all the time. A lot times I get homework from multiple classes all in one day. Often after school I have sports which already takes up enough time. Usually I get my assignments turned in on time, but to the expense of spending time with friends or family. Sometimes when I get home and start doing my homework I might struggle with the topic and there isn t a teacher there to help me, so I m left trying to search for websites that might help me or ask my parents to help. Having homework on a daily basis is causing problems for me, and I think incorporating time in the school day can really help in solving this issue. There are many causes to this problem. First of all many teacher feel that they need to give homework to see if a student understands the lesson they are on. I understand why teachers give homework for this reason however there are many other ways of tracking a students understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions at the beginning of class. Another reason for homework is there isn t enough dedicated time to do work at school. Teachers use homework to use for students grades. There are many reasons for students receiving homework, but receiving little to no homework could really be beneficial to students. Getting large amount of homework has negatively affected me in many ways. In Is to Much Homework Bad For Kid s Health? By Sandra Levy, it states communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance in their lives, and alienation from society. I find that homework causes me a lot of stress. Many days I find myself up late at night trying to complete homework, and this causes a lot of stress. The next day when I go to school I m tired and get even more stressed. When I spend time doing homework outside of school I spend less with family and friends. I often have trouble with balancing homework, time with family, and athletics. To succeed in the future you need to learn the skill of balancing things, but it s hard to learn it ... Sam Morton ART 2813 March 6, 2017 Describe the artistic and architectural evidence for the Nubian assimilation of Egyptian forms and ideas. Nubians art and architecture is traced back hundreds of years. They urbanized one of the oldest and utmost civilizations in their region until they lost their last empire years ago. Nubia was a land of expected wealth and prosperity and Sudan had remained the main home of Nubians through their long history, but many live in Egypt today. It can be distinguishing by the manner in which the artist regulates the elements of his composition by reflecting all the elements of the design which are used for functional and aesthetic purposes. The Nubians were also remarkable in their architecture. Ancient constructions that appeared to be palaces at their time are discovered throughout Northern Sudan. Archeologists excavated the land and identified few dwellings that date back to the pre Kerma period. Remarkably large huts reaching seven meters in diameter have been found and interpreted by some as residence of wealthy individuals. The architectural materials, structures, and the presence of staircases in most of the palaces suggest that they were mostly built of more than one floor. The majority of the palaces had a rectangular or square plans with long corridors and narrow rectangular rooms. The temples of the Kushite Kingdom were built of durable materials, such as red fired bricks and stories that helped them to endure the ravages of time and nature. The Stone Age Poem The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent. (Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove, you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age) In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her individuality and challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly expressed in this poem. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are and the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity can change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome In my life, I have had various events that contribute to my identity. One of the biggest events that have affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around the age of five. It was around 5 at night, and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that I didn t like the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I was going to grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t cry, but it did make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my vision became very blurry, and all I could hear was a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all of a sudden everything went black. When I came to I was on the floor with a throbbing headache. My babysitter had already called my mother, and she was already on her way to the house. The most common victims of anthrax are warm blooded animals, but it can also infect humans. Anthrax spores can be produced in a powdery form for biological warfare. When inhaled by humans, these particles cause respiratory failure and death within a week. Because anthrax is considered to be a potential agent for use in biological warfare, the Department of Defense (DOD), in 1998, announced it would begin a systematic vaccination of all U.S. military personnel. Nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting and fever are followed by abdominal pain, vomiting of blood, and severe diarrhea. Intestinal anthrax results in death in 25% to 60% of cases. The incubation period is usually within seven days. There are no reports of the disease spreading from human to human. Direct person to person spread of anthrax most likely does not occur. Once a person has been infected with anthrax and survived, a second bout with this disease is unlikely. To treat anthrax, doctors can prescribe antibiotics. Usually penicillin based antibiotics such as Cipro are preferred, but erythromycin, tetracycline, or chloramphenicol can also be used. To be effective, treatment should be initiated early. The phrase penned by John Dalberg, Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, has become a cliché idiom thrown about when discussing power. Does it really though? Does power really corrupt every man it touches? Power is merely a tool, neither inherently good nor bad. Power, similar to magic , is subject to the one who wields it. If something wicked wields power, the power will lead to wicked things. However, power in the hands of good will lead to good things it is a reflection of the heart. In J.R.R. Similarly, in our world men are doomed to die without the salvation of Jesus, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23 24) This is why men in Tolkien s books have such a hard time handling power. It is a story about dreams forgotten and memories long gone. Yeats captured a feeling of longing in this poem that some people may never understand unless they have a relationship that is more to them than any other relationship they will ever have. When You Are Old talks about a woman who was loved by a man until he died. It is a story of how a life should be remembered by a person who loved another. When You Are Old is about the love of a man for a woman whom he had on a pedestal. He felt this woman was loved by many with a true and deep love and loved by others with a false love. He felt this woman was loved much like people today love celebrities. Yeats wrote about this woman as though he knew her intimately. He asks her to slowly read, and dream of the soft look, Your eyes had once and of their shadows deep (Yeats). He wants her to remember how things were in her youth. He wants her to remember her dreams and think of how things were and how they may have been. Yeats is asking her to take her time and day dream about her glory days. Division one athletes are the most likely to be engaged in the college experience than other athletes (NCAA, 2015). One big predictor in the level that student engage in the college experience is whether they view themselves as an athlete or a student (NCAA, 2015). That decision holds implications from there on. Those who identify more as an athlete and less as a student tend to have lower gpa s, and devote less time to their academic work than other students. Those that identify as students have an average gpa of 3.2, spend 30 hours on athletics, 40 on academics, and miss an average of 1.3 classes (NCAA, 2015). The fundamental divide is one between those included in the sphere of (relative) economic prosperity and those excluded from it (102). This quote perfectly describes the global epidemic that we now face, where the global community is so fixated on building walls and turning our heads to those who do not fit our mold. What is more frightening, however, is that economic egotism along with racial and sociological isolation is happening on a domestic basis. It s not as simple as national pride and desire to keep our cultural intact, as Zizek notes. Rather, in the United States, seen first hand in New Orleans, there is a blatant rejection for those who are not on the same economic and social platform as ourselves(102). • 35. Analysis Of Dear White People The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of racial identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness, and misplaced power. Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any better. • 37. Woodstock 1969 Essay Woodstock 69 Many large concerts occurred throughout America in the summer of 1969, but none were as well known and symbolic as Woodstock. Its message was clear; three days of Peace and Music. Its impact on America s culture and society as well as its youth will not be forgotten for many years to come. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Four men named Michael Lang, Artie Kornfield, John Roberts, and Joel Rosenman originally established Woodstock. The men s initial idea for the festival was to promote the idea of a new recording studio in Bethel, New York, which is where the event actually took place. Although police were brought into Woodstock, for fear of rioting, they overlooked drug laws. The crowd stayed peaceful throughout the duration of the festival despite the heavy use of marijuana and LSD. Not one fight was reported and the only death occurred as a result of a tractor running over a man. (Geocities.com) The entire concert was a time of peace and happiness. Many of the people attending Woodstock were given a ray of hope in a world that didn t accept them. Through all the drugs and mud etched in their minds, the desire for love and acceptance made its way to the surface. The mood created by this is what made Woodstock so memorable. Had it not been for this prevalent feeling many people would have dismissed this festival as just another excuse to get high and listen to music. Examples of this new feeling were given during the concert itself. Small things that made such a difference included the fact that there was no destruction of property reported during the duration of the event. (Jacksonville.com) Also, although there was a large amount of trash left at the end, the 600 acre cleanup project was completed within five days with the help of fans and crewmembers. (Visi.com) For many people the impact of Woodstock lasted much further on into their life. Men and women were given the confidence to go out into the world and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Pros And Cons Of Genetic Modification When it comes to the topic of genetic modification, most of us will readily agree that genetic modification should be allowed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how genetic modification can be dangerous. Whereas some are convinced that people should be able to modify their genes, others maintain that modifying genes can cause too many risks and dangers for humanity. Genetic modification should not be allowed because it is unacceptable to change the natural course of human life. Many scientists will say that genetic modification will advance medical technology. They claim that modifying genes will help understand more about the human DNA and its purpose in medicine, and reproductive technology. While modifying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When experimenting with genes, scientists need to combine or insert a set of genes with other genes in order to enable the genes to serve a certain function in the human body. These combinations of genes will pose as a serious threat to the human health. According to the article Super Viruses Through Genetic Engineering by Professor Joe Cummins, he states genetic recombination is capable of creating virus (or other pathogens) with genes that allow the pathogen to overcome host defense and to spread with little or no control (Cummins). In making this comment, Joe Cummins urges us to be aware that creating viruses or other pathogens are possible and it can be devastating to a person s health when their bodies are exposed to these viruses. These viruses can be spread throughout other humans and can cause a worldwide epidemic. With these new viruses being created, the human immune system may not be able to defend the body with these viruses. It will can deaths among many people throughout the ... • 41. Aphorisms In The Importance Of Being Earnest One of Oscar Wilde s most notable works, The Importance of Being Earnest, showcases Wilde s bizarre and arguably backwards take on the literary device known as an aphorism. Most commonly, aphorisms are used in a didactic context and tend to reflect some form of ethical guideline or universal truth. It is easy to write off Wilde s utilization of the device as ironic, as the aphorisms used in the play demonstrate values that are diametrically opposed to those we recognize in the real world; however, due to the aforementioned fact that aphorisms are typically meant to point out a universal truth, it can be argued that Wilde s use of the device is quite proper in the sense that the specific universe created in the work just happens to be different ... • 42. Difference in Social Relations Between City Dwellers and... Why are the social relations between urban and rural areas so different and what causes these differences to occur? This question is what I am going to be arguing. I will be doing this not only through my opinions and ideas, but also through the works of Georg Simmel, Louis Wirth and Ernest Burgess. All three of these urban scholars add a slightly different view of urbanism as a way of life. Georg Simmel s interpretation of interpersonal social relations in the city is one based on the stimulus a person comes in contact with. Simmel writes this in his essay, The Metropolis and Mental Life. He clearly states, The intensification of emotional life due to the swift and continuous shift of external and internal stimuli. (Blackwell, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simmel s work overlaps with that of Louis Wirth. Most notably their work overlaps in the struggle to define the social relationships that are made in urban societies to those that are made in rural communities. Wirth conveys this message in his work called, Urbanism as a Way of Life. Wirth writes, The superficiality, the anonymity, and the transitory character of urban social relations make intelligible, also, the sophistication and the rationality generally ascribed to city dwellers. (Metropolis, 68) Both Wirth and Simmel are aware that the social relationships of city dwellers are ones based on intelligence and rationality and are removed of emotion. However, with Wirth, I would like to focus on his idea that a city is not only high in population, but it is also high density and high heterogeneity and how these things play a role in the social relationships of rural and urban communities. First, I would like to look at the competition levels between city dwellers and people in rural communities. The high population and high density play a huge role in the amount of competition that takes place in the city, compared to the amount that takes place in rural communities. The sheer number of people and the relatively small area that they share cause the competition level to rise exponentially. Also, the lack of emotional connections between city ... • 43. Islam Project, Shah, The Empire Of The Safavid Empire Alix Barry C C Period 6 Islam Project, Shah Ismail of the Safavid Empire Ismail I lived during a turbulent time in Iran s history. It was a period of political fragmentation and decentralization [Richard C. Martin]. He was the founder of the Safavid Empire. In 1501, he named himself the Shah, king, of the empire and proclaimed Twelver religion the official religion of state. It took him almost over a decade to consolidate his control over all of Iran, where most of the Persian population still practiced as Sunni. His Qizilbash military was given the task to convert anyone on Safavid territory to Twelver Islam and the army succeeded. Ismail was a remarkable leader when he set his mind to it, yet the Ottoman empire instigated a war against the Safavid empire because of the increase of Shia population. Ismail was caught by surprise and the Qizilbash were defeated. The aftermath of the battle was severe; Ismail was so embarrassed by the defeat he became inattentive to any Qizilbash work and military affairs of state. He broke down and started to write poems about pious Muslims and how they worship their god. The shah died at age 36, after becoming an alcoholic, but the Safavid empire continued for over 200 years after. The Safavid Empire was founded on the unified front of their population, their military strength and intolerance for other beliefs but their own. Great military strength and the ability to conquest many empires was not a very common attribute many kings had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Cesar Freire s Pedagogy Of The Oppressed Paulo Freire s Pedagogy of the Oppressed presents two distinct educational methods and asserts that problem posing education, rather than the banking method, is what is necessary for humanity. This particular excerpt of Pedagogy of the Oppressed encapsulates a vast scope of education. It begins with an exposition, revealing what exactly banking method is, followed by the explanation of problem posing education. Throughout the duration of the chapter, Freire passionately presents his ideals about education through the scopes of these two educational styles. Pedagogy of the Oppressed starts off with an explanation that the focus of his analysis is the relationship between teachers and students. First, Freire believes that the majority of teachers today talk about reality as if it were motionless, static, compartmentalized, and predictable (Paolo Freire). He uses lucidly negative diction like hollow and alienating to describe the words these teachers speak, emphasizing that this clearly isn t enough when it comes to educating students Freire goes on to call this particular type of educating narrative education (Freire). Narrative education is where teachers act as the omnipotent being. Students are merely taught everything as if it were objectively the same as any other fact, and not taught the significance. Teachers do not learn anything from the students, either. Narrative education is a one way street. An aspect of narrative education is the polarizing idea of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Tragic Characters Of Sophocles Antigone In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because of their mistakes or poor judgment. If characters fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these characters are tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle s principles which include hamartia, hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all six of Aristotle s principles, then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two examples of Aristotelian tragic characters are from Sophocles Greek play Antigone from the trilogy dealing with Oedipus and his children (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself. Creon s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not listen to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he also did this because of his pride. In Antigone, Creon is an Aristotelian tragic character. His six principles are more obvious to the reader. Tiresias tries to warn Creon as to what will come if he doesn t change his ways now, but he ignores Tiresias even though he is a prophet. Creon says Tiresias sold his wisdom and lets out his words for hire (Sophocles 837). This means that Creon thinks that Tiresias has come to say these things to him because someone pays Tiresias ...
