This is known as competitive advantage . one approach to encourage competitive advantage is through
creativity and innovation.
Innovation can be the procedure to change. It does not have to be inventing new things, an example of
innovation can be an improved service.
Creativity and innovation is the principle component for an organization to achieve sustainable
competitive advantage facing the other competitors. It is difficult to think about a company having
competitive advantage without considering creativity and innovation. Doing things differently and in a
creative way will definitely make you successful in any field you are fighting in. If we take a look on
Apple and see their future visions we will get a clear idea of how creativity is important to competitive

Comparison Of Sodium Bicarbonate And Acetic Acid
The goal for this experiment was to see how much of both Sodium Bicarbonate and Acetic Acid it was
going to take to fill you a sandwich bag without it exploding. We were going to need to figure out the
volume of our bag and get the correct amount of each substance so when it fully reacts the gas formed
can blow up the bag. The goal is to get it fully filled without it exploding or not filling up all the way.
It s like mixing baking soda and vinegar together it makes the same fizzy substance in a way along
with a gas which most people use for volcanos. The airbag was invented in 1953 by an inventor in

Economic Sustainability And Economic Development
Sustainable.
Often heard used as a marketing buzzword to boost sales or win votes, it is firmly ingrained in the
contemporary public psyche. A term first largely introduced by the 1987 Brundtland Report (by The
World Commission on Environment and Development) who defined and politicized the term
sustainable development , sustainability has since taken on numerous connotations.
Ecological sustainability refers to the robustness of our ecosystems and the ability to maintain or
enhance our planet s unique biodiversity.
Economic sustainability is defined by Cato as continued economic development while not degrading
our planet s ecology (Cato, 2011), however not all definitions accord such a large role to the
ecological state of our planet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where environmental problems are concerned, the neoclassical approach does not account for the
market failure that occurs when all individuals are making decisions to achieve their personal greatest
happiness . While theoretically this leads to a balanced optimum market; exclusivity, non
excludability, externalities, imperfect information, inappropriate government regulations and prisoners
dilemma all prevent the macro economic market from reaching a true pareto optimum (Goodland et.
al, 1987) as predicted by the paradigm.
In environmental terms, market failure results in an array of impacts of varying significance that are
often amplified by the globalized macro economy and our planet s vast social inequity.
For example, an externality such as air pollution may not directly affect the consumer, but can have
adverse impacts on the local environment where the product was produced. This impact is often not
reflected in the market value of the product, altering marginal cost curve and undermining the
possibility of reaching an optimal market. In addition, the impacts of market failure often
disproportionately affect the poorest communities and amplify social inequity.
The neoclassical paradigm is thus fundamentally

Israel-Palestine
Israel Palestine
Introduction
In the absence of peace, there is conflict. This might lead to war between countries if conflict is not
handled carefully. Today it is almost a norm to see countries engaging others in war. Today the
greatest problem facing many nations is international relation. Countries have failed to live like decent
neighbors. There is disunity among many nations. War between nations is caused by mistrust and
tension. Nations purchase arms to stock their armory. Major inventions are made daily in out on
nuclear power and how to develop sophiscated weapons. This tries to explain the fact that countries
are always in mistrust of each other. It also explains that there is constant tension between countries

As times progressed there was an uprising in Lebanon as the Palestinian opposed Israel rule, In 1978
Palestine attacked Hezbollah. Israel felt invaded and led an offensive attack o Lebanon. Israel attacked
Lebanon and went as far as capturing Beirut. The prime target was to bomb Yasser Arafat locations.
During this invasion, Israel declared southern Lebanon as a security zone. During these attacks, there
were deaths on both sides. The greatest casualties were the children. Israel came to withdraw its
security forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000. Another serious crisis came to be in 1980s. This
was the intifada. A group of young Palestinians confronted Israeli troops with sling shots and stones.
The outcome was not acceptable and many of the youth were shot dead. To lay an offensive attack, the
Palestinians used suicide bombers to kill the Israeli troops. Many innocent civilians were killed from
both sides.
In 1993 the Oslo peace accord was made. In this accord Israel accepted to recognize the Palestinian
liberal organisation (PLO). They were also to give the PLO limited autonomy. The conditions were
that PLO were to end a Palestinian claims on Israel territory. The accord was met with different
reaction across the world. It was seen as a one sided accord which favored only the Israelites. The
accord gave Israel the control of land, water, roads and other resources. This accord was seen as only

Analysis of a PHD Student´s Research on Investment Inequality
Summary:
In Economic Elites, Investments, and Income Inequality from the academic journal, Social Forces,
graduate Ph. D student from Ohio State University, Michael Nau presents throughout his study the rise
of an additional factor that has evidently influenced the concentration of vast amounts of income
among the elite class, income from investments. In this era, the common belief is that demographics,
labor market institutions, and technology are causing the inequality to rise and for the elites to produce
astounding amounts of income. Nau s findings present how the debate over the incomes of the elites
has to be expanded apart from the working rich class to also include the income producing wealth. In
addition, Nau presents how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, he mentions the sociological and economical view, which is the belief that the rise of
inequality is due to institutional changes such as the fall of minimum wage and the loss of union
power. However, when it comes to the income of the elites he argues that the income growth due to
investment is a imperative fraction to this confusion of how the wealthy are accumulating unlimited
amounts of money and causing social inequality.
Nau then explains how there are three hypotheses to the shift in economic power toward the investors
and their concentration and growing income share during the decades of 1990s to 2000s. In the first
place, Nau presents the hypotheses that the income concentration of the wealthiest was being driven
by investment gains. At the same time, he presents that also at this time, top income households took
on the title of investors imitating their behaviors and characteristics. Finally, his third hypothesis states
that both the contribution of investment income to income inequality increased relative and changed to
non investment income.
When it comes to the data and methods, this study used the Federal Reserve Board s Survey of
Consumer Finances (SCF), which is a repeated survey that includes the information on household
income and wealth holdings; the Federal Reserve conducts this survey every three years. To test the
hypothesis there are

The Road Distance Of The South India
Our next destination was Ooty or Udhagamandalam which is one of the most famous hill destinations
of the South India. Any visit in the area seems incomplete without this jewel in the itinerary. So we
had no intention of missing this must have destination. We decided to cover it over two days including
the trip of famous mountain railway toy train on the second day. We left Chennai on night of 23rd
December by Nilgiri Express and reached Mettupalayam by 6 in the morning. Mettupalayam is like a
base town for the beautiful hill station that Ooty is. The road distance from Mettupalayam to ooty is
about 40 kilometers and the journey takes about an hour and half if you can avoid the traffic and it
seemed we were in luck. We had landed on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through the Wellington Police Academy which is a known name throughout the country for producing
some gallant police officers. The cordoned off area of academy with a giant gate was enough to envy
those young officers being trained at one of the awesome locations.
As we passed through the Coonoor region which is almost midway between the base and destination,
the scenery changed gradually to include tea plantations and while we were tempted to stop, we were
reminded that this scene is going to be with us for most of the upcoming trip. In interest of getting
ahead of the traffic, we decided to skip these plantations for something which we now know was
worth the wait. We also stopped by for few moments at the Kattery Park on the way which is a
children s garden built in absolute beautiful surroundings. One would find it difficult to imagine the
beauty that nature has on offer and one needs to be present there to realize it. As we had anticipated,
avoiding traffic helped us move fast and we checked in our rest house by 8:30 AM. It was really a
lovely accommodation surrounded by hills and nested in picturesque scenery. The toy train tracks
passed a couple of feet from the building wall and we could literally shake hands with the passengers
while still being in our room. The room was well

Examples Of Sexism In The Joy Luck Club
From the dawn of civilization to modern times, oppression based on gender has thrived in each corner
of the globe. It can be manifested in a myriad of ways, including a simple derogatory statement or
fundamental human rights being snatched from the sufferer. Amy Tan s multicultural novel, The Joy
Luck Club, explores various expressions of sexism and how its victims handle this atrocity. Ying ying
St. Clair as well as Lena St. Clair, Ying ying s daughter, both experience sexism, but are able to
eventually overcome their respective conflicts. Ying ying St. Clair encounters several people in her
life who dictate her actions based on her gender. As a child in China, she celebrates the Moon Festival

Lena s husband Harold Livotny develops an architectural firm based her creative scheme, yet she is
assigned the position of a mere interior designer in a company made possible by her relentless support.
When comparing herself to her spouse, she laments, So really, we re equals, except that Harold makes
about seven times more than what I make. He knows this, too, because he signs my monthly check,
and then I deposit it into my separate checking account (Tan 159). Although she is as dedicated to and
efficient at her occupation as Harold his, Lena receives less compensation for her work. This wage gap
reflects the worldwide norm that women receive less money for working as passionately as men do.
Even though Lena offers the basic ideas for Harold s business, Harold does not recognize her efforts.
Furthermore, Lena constantly belittles herself. She blames herself for the unexpected death of Arnold,
her childhood neighbor who incessantly bullied her. She wonders, Why did Arnold single me out for
his rubberband torture? How is it that he contracted measles the same year I began to consciously hate
him? (Tan 154). Because Lena is a submissive girl with poor self esteem, she an easy victim for a
haughty boy like Arnold to bully. Moreover, Lena faces excessive gender discrimination, so she
believes she plays a role in Arnold s death even without someone telling her to do so. Sexism
influences Lena greatly in numerous aspects of her

1980 Olympics Research Paper
The 1980 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad, was an event held
in the city of Moscow, Soviet Union, in Soviet era Russia.
The 1980 Games were the first Olympic Games to be held in Russia, and remain the only Summer
Olympics held there. They were also the first Olympics to be held in a Slavic speaking nation. The
Moscow Olympics were also the first socialist nation to hold an Olympic event, and the only Summer
Games to be held in a socialist country until 2008 in Beijing, China. These were the final Olympic

percent of all medals, and similarly 71 percent of the gold medals available, at the 1976 Summer

fifteen countries marched in the Opening Ceremony with the Olympic Flag instead of their own nation

athletes from these countries won. Competitors from three countries, including New Zealand,

Author Jon Bohman Too much of our society is separated from others. We often isolate ourselves from
the lives of those around us. With each little bit of isolation we become a little more dehumanized
each day. Instead of walking around to places we find ourselves using cars to travel, each day
removing ourselves more and more from greeting and contacting new people. We have furthered this
isolation through working in cubicles, and automation through computers and factories. Tv creates
another scenario where we watch fake realities instead of being around other people. Even in a movie
theatre we are isolated because we stare at the big screen instead of holding a true conversation with
someone else. I have nothing against these inventions, the trouble is that they can lead one to focus
more on themselves and less on their fellow man. Selfishness creeps in and pushes aside the desire to
give to others. Instead of improving and uplifting humanity we are working backwards. Now, not
everyone is this way, however if we aren t mindful of our own intentions and actions you may

Jack Welch and the Ge Way
When Jack Welch was named CEO of General Electric, Welch saw a company in trouble even though
the business world saw GE as an intrinsically healthy corporation, secure in its position as a world
industrial leader. Welch knew that the company was too large to fail yet GE was too unwieldy to adapt
for further growth. The changes he instituted restructured and revolutionized GE and made Welch the
most respected CEO in business today. After reading the book there were three parts that really stood
out for me. Chapter 3: Cultivate managers who share your vision was the most important chapter to
me. It talks about putting the right managers in the right positions. Welch says, What we are looking
for are leaders who can energize, excite, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

employees are living that vision at every level of the organization. To Welch, one of the most crucial
aspects of being consistent and following up is making sure that he delivers the identical no nonsense
message to everyone. You don t get anywhere if you keep changing your ideas. The only way to
change people s minds is with consistency. Once you get the ideas, you keep refining and improving
the; the more simply your idea is defined, the better it is. You communicate, you communicate, and
then you communicate some more. Consistency, simplicity, and repetition is what it s all about (p.
55). As Welch pounded his message home over the years, he won the hearts and minds of the GE
workforce and converted critics into believers. I think consistency is a large part of a company s
foundation that holds everything together. Some managers forget to communicate and consistency is
lost about many issues. If managers are

International Trade Theory Of Comparative Advantage And...
Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity to trade, theory
of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came up with the theory of absolute
advantage where the country that produces more of one good that another country has simply an
absolute advantage over it. This theory normally constructed with two commodities and two countries.
In Schuhmachers article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of doxography in the
history of economics he says, each nation can produce one good with less expenditure of human labor
than the other and thus more cheaply. (Schuhmachers, 2012) In this case, both countries will
specialize in only producing the commodity, which they have ... Show more content on

This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B can
produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and then
trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower
price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative
advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12
radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage
specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A
(Economics Online, 2017.)
Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range
below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the
importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However,
because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one
of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses.
Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. According to this theory,
one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect to the availability of the factors of
production. They

The Canadian Pacific Railway ( Cpr )
The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), officially founded in 1881, marked a significant milestone in
Canadian history. At the time it was legitimately formed, no one could have ever imagined the
evolution and progression that it has made to present day. Over the past 150 years, the CPR has
underwent and endured its fair share of sacrifices. However, there are countless reasons why the CPR
should be viewed, remembered, and revered as a successful project. Throughout this essay, numerous
topics, from the origins of the railway s formation to its relevance and continued influence during
present day, will be illustrated and examined in great detail, as well as why the project itself was an
overall success. First and foremost, the idea of having a railway built throughout Canada was already
in existence long before 1881. However, it was not until Confederation was passed on July 1, 1867
when [The railway s] realization was found to be a political necessity (Leary, 5). In other words,
Confederation did not just mark the date in history where the federal Dominion of Canada was born,
but, it had also opened the doors necessary to make the project a reality. Clearly, there was much more
to Confederation than met the eye, and as part of the deal, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were
promised a railway to link them with the two Central Canadian provinces Quebec and Ontario
(Canadian Pacific). By 1871, Manitoba and British Columbia had also joined the Confederation. At

The Organizational Culture Of The Beef Industry
1. Introduction When the Beef industry took a hit about ten years ago, one company who was able to
stabilize itself in the rocky market was KBJ Beef Processing Equipment. The question now that they
have successfully implemented a new system into stabilizing their business, is how do they begin to
thrive in it? Currently, the system they have implemented is much more effective than the prior. One
key to the new system was the idea of reduced roles. This was key strategy because it allowed the
company to consolidate and focus on themselves rather than worry about the market. Instead of
panicking, they looked inward to discover the key to surviving in a sinking market. 2. What are the

This makes sure that the people in command are not only reliable, but if they are struggling to meet
the deadlines and goals of the company, they can easily be replaced by a younger more incentivized
employee. This kind of revolving door of productivity allows the workers to understand how the
company is performing and how each of their jobs is benefiting the company. This kind of high
employee efficiency mixed with happy workers produces an outcome that will save KBJ Beef
Processing Equipment from the seemingly inevitable downfall of the beef market. 3. Comparisons The
main reason Suede implemented this structure was because the efficiency of the company was not
where it needed to be in order to survive the tough times. When information or tasks were sent down
the chain of command, it was usually too late or often not even deemed worth solving. Suede on the
other hand wants to create a system where every small problem, no matter how small, is solved so the
company can continue to operate on as high of a level as possible. He was also able to turn the
mentality of the company completely around. Placing the responsibilities of the employees completely
on their own shoulders was the best thing to happen to KBJ Beef Processing Equipment. This way
when an employee falters, the only person they can blame is themselves. This creates almost a military
sense of teamwork. When everyone takes care of themselves and

keeping everything in its place/organized. Furthermore, not every technology focuses on developing

Gamers can visualize their goal and plan different ways to approach it. Greg Tito (2010) also mentions

Appelbaum (2013) an assistant professor of psychiatry in Duke School of Medicine said that the
perspective of a gamer is different than how a non gamer visualize things. These different studies

out his alternatives he will start visualizing and set short term goals to achieve his goal. In the other
hand, a non gamer may do the same steps but the process of doing so might take longer because he has
to right it down to visualize it. Also, gamers are creative when inventing or producing something new

cheerleading is considered to be a new sport everyone is starting to get into. Many would argue the
cheerleading should not and cannot be considered a sport, but according to the United States All Star

Hunt Descriptive Writing
Waking up before the rising sun on the morning of the hunt left me feeling groggy with my eyes slow
to open and close when blinking. Being extra quiet to not wake up my mother was a main challenge,
trying to tippy toe around the cabin and dodging the creaky spots in the floor. Prior to eating breakfast,
I began getting dressed. Due to the fact that I was in northern Minnesota, the weather was bone
chilling and the wind would seep right through your layers onto your unexpecting skin. Once I had put
on my long johns, sweatpants, and long sleeve shirt with a tee shirt on top I began to make my
breakfast. I had decided to have scrambled eggs that were cooked to perfection with the yolk golden
mixed in with the pure snow white egg white and flakes of pepper sprinkled throughout and toast with
butter melted onto the crunchy outside making it soft with homemade strawberry jam spread thick on
top. After I had finished my meal I continued getting ready. In doing so I put on the remainder of my
clothes, my sweatshirt and hunting pants came next followed by my wool socks and winter hunting
boots. Next I checked to make sure my backpack was ready and had all the essentials in it in case
something were to happen. Lastly I grabbed my already loaded sleek black shotgun and put on my
heaving winter coat, hats and gloves. Now I was ready to begin my hunt. Starting out, I was walking
slowly down the freshly snow covered dirt lane in front of my cabin. As I was walking I could hear the

My Philosophy Statement Essay
My Philosophy Statement
In this philosophy statement you will not be reading the statement of a great philosophical mind, but
of an education student who loves to work with kids and who tries to have the students best interest in
mind. comparing and contrasting my views with the views of many of the philosophical giants
throughout history I will discuss five topics: 1.) the nature of students, 2.) the nature of knowledge, 3.)
the purpose of public education, 4.) the method of education, 5.) and the curriculum that should be
used in public schools.
Taking off on the topic of the nature of human beings we need to look back at our own childhood and
try to remember our actions, if not our thoughts. Pragmatist/Progressivists ... Show more content on

I also agree with the pragmatist/progressivists about the area of evolving knowledge. Throughout our
lives, and especially in our younger years, we develop different changes and experiences. For instance,
after sent to stand in the corner for the tenth time Billy finally realized that the action of talking back
to his mother had consequences.
My third topic, the purpose of education, has several areas in it that I am going to discuss, the first
being the general importance of education. Spring outlined many goals for education. The prevention
of teenage pregnancies, prevention of drug abuse, and the prevention of the spread of sexually
transmitted diseases were among the many goals. To achieve these goals I agree with the
pragmatist/progressivists that believe that we need to teach kids how to think and not what to think.
By teaching kids how to think we will allow them to see the consequences of their actions and let
them make the decision of whether they can handle the consequences or not. Today kids are taught
what to think and not how to think so they rebel to get out from under the control of their authorities
not seeing the consequences. For this reason education is very important, because it allows students
the opportunity to make educated and well founded judgments and decisions that they may not have
been able to make otherwise.
Continuing on with my third topic, I hope to accomplish several goals as a

Alexander Graham Bell, a man who best known for inventing the telephone. Most people don t know
he spent the majority of his life teaching and helping the deaf. Educating the hearing impaired is what
he wished to be remembered for. Bell was born on March 3, 1847, in Edinburgh, Scotland. His mother
was a painter of miniature portraits and also loved to play the piano even though she was nearly deaf.
Aleck s mother knew that he had a talent for music and always encouraged him to play (Matthews 12).
Alexander Melville Bell, his father, was a Professor of Elocution, Art of public speaking (Bruce 16).
Due to the fact that his father was a very knowledgeable man and a professor, Aleck obtained most of

Bell could now make a copy of the pattern and keep one for himself and give one to his student so that
they could practice with it until they were able to resemble the same type of pattern (Mackenzie 68).
Aleck taught by day and invented by night. He had some rough sketches on how the telegraph could
actually be improved. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was able to lend him a
laboratory for him to experiment in. The main reason why he was doing this was he thought that this
machine would be able to help him better teach the deaf (Matthews.) The main man that Aleck worked
with was Thomas Watson. The two tried dozens upon dozens of electric current configurations and on
top of everything they did not have directions or blueprints to follow. Aleck stated to Watson, if I can
get a mechanism which will make a current of electricity vary in its intensity, as the air varies in
density when a sound is passing through it, I can telegraph any sound, even the sound of speech
(Mackenzie 85.) Bell knew that in order to produce sound to transmitting through a wire he would
need more then one transmitter, but having several transmitters in a series would send the current at
different rates. When the current was sent at different rates it just blocked the wire up and in return
was useless. The two men were skeptical about building the telephone because

The deep sea is the largest habitat on earth and is largely exploited. Pressure rises, temperature drop

Romanticism And The Industrial Revolution
Chapter 1 Introduction We are not makers of history. We are made by history.(Martin Luther).Human
history is as primitive as time. Sociologically human evolution commenced from living individually to
the formation of ethnic and social groups. In literature this development is marked by many periods
and stages .It can roughly located by following timeline , Ancient(3600 BC 1500 AD), Postclassical
(500 1500) Modern and Post modern eras. Every historical era constitutes significant social,
economic, religious and political changes. However, some radical changes are witnessed by the
beginning of industrial revolution in Europe. The industrial era comprised the period of the Industrial

juxtaposition of this distinct industrial revenue with a new kind of urban poverty is only one of the
enigmas that represent this protracted and diverse period. In religion the climax of the Evangelical
revival set unprecedentedly challenges to faith. The idealism and transcendentalism of Romantic
movement were questioned by empirical science, utilitarian moral philosophy and Realism. In politics

Texas Involvement In The Civil Rights Movement
Neressa Salazar
July 13, 2015
Final exam
History 3330
The darkest times of our nation surrounded two major happenings. The initial occurrence was the
institution of slavery. Second, the struggle for civil rights has plagued our country even through today.
Texas has been a key state in each of these events. Research of the civil rights movement further
illustrates Texas involvement. Key figures, legislation, and issues revealed through research further
exemplify the Texas involvement in the civil rights struggle for African Americans and Latinos. The
fight for civil rights in Texas expanded across social, political, and even religious lines. Similar to
many other states across the south, African Americans and Latinos found themselves ... Show more

The initial incident leading to the case took place at The University of Texas Law School. Herman
Sweatt registered in 1946 to no avail. The postal worker, with the assistance of the NAACP, managed
to reach the United States Supreme Court with the case. By 1950 the court reached a decision in favor
of Herman Sweatt. Despite the victory, it was only a small step toward the complete integration of
public schools. (Morris)
Education
Due to the civil rights battle in Texas, the face of politics was reformed. An era of conservatism was
initiated within Texas politics. Previously, Democrats occupied all major state offices. By 1950 the
momentum shifted. Allan Shiver s governor election initiated the change. The change reached the
presidency. Eisenhower became only the second Republican president to win the state s Electoral
College at the time. (Morris) Lyndon B. Johnson became a figure of interest during the civil rights era.
He was considered to be a progressive, often considered to be reminiscent of Lincoln. (Orozco)
Following the untimely death of President John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson inherited office
becoming the 36th president of the United States. From January 1965 to April 1968 Johnson
implemented more legislation in regards to civil rights than any other president past or present.
(Guglielmo) The most notable laws passed by Johnson were enacted in 1957, 1960, and 1964.

The Importance Of Team And Team Work
Lessons Learned
I learned the definition of team and team work in the process of making group presentation for
assignments. A team is defined as a group of people with a set of complementary skills required to
finish or complete a job, task, or project. Team work is the ability to work together towards a common
vison or a goal. The capability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives.
In my word, I say that teamwork acts as a fuel that allows common people to achieve uncommon
results. It is also important that everyone else in the team understands the meaning of teamwork. We
as team faced different challenges to work together online as most of us don t have experience
working under virtual teams. Further, we have learned that our job in planning all aspects of our
project is never done, and that each step that we take forward requires us to look back, adjusting any
existing documentation, plans, or schedules to ensure that we remain consistent and up to date as we
continue to progressively elaborate on our team work. We have learned that this process can be both
overwhelming and exhausting, but is finally rewarding. As a group, we have learned that collaboration
and responsibility sharing is important for the success of project teams. It is far too much for any one
person bear the burden of by themselves. The work of a project Lead is intense, never complete, and
deals with immense levels of detail. The personal qualities of reliability and

The Swiss are more thoughtful and create a community of trust and loyalty.
Like each state in the United States, the Swiss cantons have their own constitution, legislative,
executive, and judiciary branch. Patriotism and loyalty are established by military service. According
to the reference book, Culturgram, every physically fit male serves in the Swiss Army. They train on
occasion and keep their gun and uniform at home always ready to form a militia to defend the country
(278).
When comparing and contrasting equality between the two countries, the citizens of both the United
States and Switzerland consider themselves equal. Both countries provide constitutions that guarantee
freedoms and liberties for their citizens. Freedom of religion is guaranteed in the first amendant of the
constitution in the United States. In 1973, a referendum repealed articles of the constitution of
Switzerland that were responsible for banning the Jesuit order and the founding of new religions
houses, guaranteeing freedom of worship (Bram 65).
When comparing and contrasting the dominant cultural pattern of materialism, I can only infer that the
Swiss citizens enjoy creature comforts just as much as the citizens of the United States. The Swiss are
known to be conservative and value thrift. The United States is credit orientated. We seem to be

Frank Jackson and Physicalism Essay
Frank Jackson and Physicalism
Frank Jackson begins his article by writing about what he feels to be a fatal flaw in physicalism. He
writes a story about a girl named Mary who is raised in a black and white room. In this room Mary
was taught everything there is to know about the physical world. The only catch is she learned only
from media, which was black and white, so she knows nothing of the colors outside this room. After
learning everything about the physical world, she is then given the chance to see color. She will then
learn what color is in the world. For this reason Jackson believes physicalism to be false. Jackson
contends that if physicalism were true, Mary would know what a color looks like before she would

The problem with this for physicalism is that fact Mary would realize how mistaken her knowledge of
other s conceptions has been. Even though Mary would have known all of the neurological processes
in a person s mind, she would not have known the person s actual experience involved in the process.
There would also be facts she did not know about objects, but she would know all physical facts about
them. For this reason it is not any experience the object may have, but a fact about the object itself. In
the article the main point seems to be the fact that, for example, Mary would see red for the first time
she would be learning something. However, physicalism is not threatened merely by the fact Mary
learns something. The factor disproving physicalism is the fact Mary learns something new about the
object that is red. For example she can see a tomato is now read. Her teachings showed her all
physical attributes to the tomato and she would know everything about it. The problem is that she had
no idea what red was until she saw red, therefore she did not know everything physical about the
tomato. If physicalism were true, Mary would have known exactly what the red tomato looked like
before she saw it, including the redness it displayed. After reading the Jackson article I have
concluded that I agree with the points being made against physicalism. The example that I believe
disproves physicalism is trying to

heading Business for Sale. To Will s surprise, he received a call directly from Hank Bennington, the

During the conversation, Mr. Bennington described his motel and his reason for wanting to sell. He
also described the many advantages of living in Colorado and promised to send Will more information
on his company. The next day an overnight package of information arrived at Will s home.

he failed to keep as close a watch on the business as he should have. Mr. Bennington admitted that he

He went on to say that Will should be a natural to manage this type of business.
After skimming the material, Will became increasingly enthused about the possibility of owning and
managing this motel. He knew there were many additional questions he would need to ask in his next
phone conversation. At the moment, the most exciting part was the possibility of living in Colorado
and being his own boss. Will knew he would have to develop a list of penetrating questions to ask Mr.
Bennington and also knew he needed to study the financial sheets in detail. That could come later. For
the moment, Will was picturing himself on the slopes of Colorado s beautiful mountains gracefully
skimming down the snow.

The Ethics Of A Civil Engineer
We first deal with the ethical implication of ASCE preparing the report card and the benefit, which
benefits the engineers. The implication of the ASCE should be about moral neutral group of people to
prepare to the report card. Civil engineers should have Presence and obligations to the public as they
should in any other places .so a person who can be swayed by political corruption and bribery, shouldn
t be involved with any activates, Now if ASCE prepare to the report card, the ratings given could be
changed to reflect the need of the economic situation. In case lower rating will be more jobs available
to workforce .If rating are higher few jobs will be needed for infrastructure development.
The primary concern of a civil engineer should always be the safety, health, and welfare of the public.
Working in any field should never compromise on moral principles at work. for example if a project
takes place in an area prone to natural disasters should not be used as an excuse to cut concerns when
it comes to safety. An engineer should make every effort to complete it to their client s full
satisfaction; an engineer should make every effort to complete it to their client s full satisfaction;
however they have to know where to draw the line when it comes to matters of safety. So engineers
should keep their obligations regardless of the cost, knowing the limits of their knowledge and
abilities, and determining what an adequate level of safety is. How might ASCE s role

In everyday society, companies are affected by the economy. The company either suffers or benefits
depending on what kind of economy it is. This will depend on what kind of company it is, and what
kind of market the business does well in. The Business Cycle is what determines this factor. It is a
term used in economics to designate changes in the economy.
Timing of the business cycle is not predictable, but its phases seem to be. Many economists site four
phases prosperity, liquidation, depression, and recovery. During a period of prosperity, a rise in
production leads to increases in employment, wages, and profits. Obstacles then begin to obstruct
further expansion. Production costs can increase, helping create a rise in prices, and ... Show more

Hero Vs Hero
Pericles once said The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them,
glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding go out to meet it. More than 2000 years later, Pericles
thoughts are still those of what today s hero is. A hero today struggles, yet still manages to overcome
these complications with an act of bravery. Rather than thinking of themselves, a hero is usually
willing to put others before themselves and show audacity in the face of difficulties.
First, Heroes are not thinking of themselves, but instead are showing acts of kindness towards others.
For example, after 9/11 a large amount of sailors showed up to evacuate Manhattan, due to closed
down airplanes and subways. These sailors showed pluck because many of them believed they were a
target for another attack. Vincent Ardolino, one of the captains who responded to the call, recounts his

what if they attack again. To this he responds Well then that s something I have to live with (Boatlift

happen to others. Similarly to his decisions is the mole rescue workers who dug people out of their

stepping stone in e sports rapid rise towards mainstream popularity and acceptance. However Valve
also made another and no less profound statement of intent with the tournament that marks them as a
distinctive force in the e sports and wider gaming industry and that is one of emphasising the
generative power of play. This statement of intent became clear after a controversial incident occurred
with the Ukrainian team Natus Vincere who employed a strategy that many considered to be a bug ,

This was an extremely hard combination to successfully employ that not only relies on a perfection of
team unity in combining moves, but also on a huge level of individual skill on the part of Natus
Vincere s Dendi in landing the initial Meat Hook from Pudge. However for the average spectator,

The World s Largest Gas Company For Gas
For over 40 years, Europe has been relying on Russia for the importation of energy, such as oil.5 One
of Russia s major gas company, Gazprom, is one of the world s largest gas distributing companies,
causing many countries to become dependent on the Russian company for gas. In 2015 alone,
Gazprom exported around 158 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, and of those European countries
to have received gas, Germany was the highest, with an import of 45.31 billion cubic meters of
Gazprom gas. Countries in the Baltic region and countries in south eastern Europe are usually very
dependent on Russian gas. The European Union is Russia s most involved trading partner, especially
when it comes in terms of oil. About 41% of Russia s exports are sent to EU countries.7 According to
Gazprom s statistics, Western European countries make up 82% of Gazprom s exports, and Central
European countries make up 18% of their exports.3 These numbers are significant because it displays
Europe s major dependence on Russian oil, which is a major problem, because of Russia s ability to
deprive Europe of energy at any given time, as shown from 2006 to 2009, when Russia cut off
Ukraine s gas line due to disputes regarding gas prices.23 If Russia decides to shut off gas to a region,
it can lead to people being without ways to heat their homes or cook their food, leaving a big liability
on the people. Europe s vulnerability to these gas shortages gives Russian leverage over many EU
countries who heavily

Comparison And Hyperbole In Long Day s Journey Into Night
Family. People have their own definition of what a family is to them, whether the relatives are blood
related, half or step related, to just friends. People consider family as thoses who have supported them
all their life, through the positive and negative times. In Long Day s Journey Into Night, Eugene O
Neill, writes about a family that seems well rounded but is unfortunately going through the struggle of
an alcohol and drug problem. These characters fail to see they can turn to each other due to the
dishonesty between the Tyrone s family. In Long Day s Journey Into Night, it is a play that takes place
in the living room of the James Tyrone summer home in August, 1912. In this book, the story is told of
one day in the Tyrone household, and even though it may seem as a short time to get all the
information of the characters lifestyle, the reader still get s all the background information needed. By
O Neill s writing it gives the details of why their family s behavior causes them to not trust each other
and the challenges they are going through. The most common literary device that O Neill used that
stood out to me were simile and hyperbole. When he used simile to compare one thing to another, it
would help to understand what point he was trying to come across when the character would say
certain things but their actions would differ. With using hyperbole, since it is to exaggerate statements
but not to be taken literally, I understand why these character would act or have

Teesdale Essay
Teesdale s industrial heritage is just as enticing as its scenery, and this walk has a good mixture of the
two. The woodland around Hudeshope Beck sustains a rich variety of wildlife and makes a superb
finish to the walk.
Middleton in Teesdale, revered as the capital of Upper Teesdale, lies in the very heart of the most
beautiful and enchanting scenery that one can imagine. The village was founded c.1031, when King
Cnut granted it, as part of a much larger estate, to the monks of St Cuthbert at Durham. However, it
did not begin to grow significantly until the nineteenth century, when it became an important lead
mining centre.
In 1815 the Quaker owned London Lead Company established their northern head
quarters at
Middleton. The company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After crossing the shoulder of Hardberry Hill, the harsher scenery of the lead mining period becomes
more apparent. The valley is strewn with the remains of the Coldberry Mine, which closed in 1955
after more than 200 years of lead production. Coldberry was one of the largest lead mining complexes
in the North Pennines. Accordingly, the immediate area of the mines holds the status of a Scheduled
Ancient Monument.
The most prominent scar on the landscape is Coldberry Gutter, the result of an early open cast mining
method known as hushing . Hushing involved the construction of a reservoir with a turf dam on the
moor above the suspected vein. When the reservoir was full, the dam was breached so that the sudden
torrent swept down, tearing away the soil and surface rocks to expose the vein. The miners then used
picks and shovels to loosen and remove the lead ore. The repetition of this process created deep gullies
on the hillsides and are visible from many miles around.
During the descent, we pass the remnants of a water balance incline; this consisted of a wheeled water
tank which moved up and down an incline between two walls. A cable connected the tank to a bucket
of ore at the bottom of the mine shaft; as the water balance descended, the bucket came up. After
draining the water, empty buckets pulled the tank back up to the top. Using water

Co2 Lab Report
It exploted. Discussion
We were unable to complete the experiment due to the complete shattering of one of the centrifuge
tubes used in this experiment. This shattering was most likely due to the repeated use of the same tube
for the extraction. Because liquid CO2 induces a cold environment, and when a material, particularly
plastic, is exposed to repeated cycles of freezing and thawing the material will become more brittle.
Plastic is usually good at containing high pressures, but if the material were to become brittle it would
lose this ability and become fracture sensitive. This most likely lead to the complete shattering of the
tube while in the lab, given that several shards were found around the laboratory. This also could have

Strategic Measurement Of The Balanced Scorecard
The balanced scorecard is a strategic measurement strategy used in business and government as a
measurement tool. The balanced scorecard should reflect businesses plans and strategic goals. The
balance scorecard was originated by Drs. Robert Kaplan (Harvard Business School) and David Norton
(n.n October 8th, 2015). Balanced scorecard is used by managers not only to measure performance but
to align their goals and execute the visions and missions of any agency. The balanced scorecard
include metrics in different perspective views, these include The learning and growth perspective, the
business process perspective, the customer perspective and the financial perspective .
Usage

The costs involved make it out of bounds for many small businesses, but they can still use this tool as
a valuable strategy map. Balanced scorecard improves alignment over departments by implanting
clarity and reliable communication over goals and strategies, establishing a link between corporate
vision and strategy and strategy and operations. Adapt easily to established standards and agreements.
1997, a study by Kurtzman found that 64 percent of the companies who do not use this tool still
measure performance similarity (Kurtzman, 1997). Implementation benefits organizations to improve
operations, develop role clarity, and become agile, lean, and effective. The extensive benefits however
come during the design phase rather than the actual implementation. Organizations who use balanced
scorecards, but do so by replicate that of another organization without customization, fail in getting
the benefits. To get a successful implementation it requires heavy participation of management and
operational staff to ensure suitability and compatibility of the tool to the organization.
What are the Benefits of using Balanced Scorecards?
It shouldn t come as a surprise that companies using Balanced Scorecards tend to perform better than
companies using the traditional method of performance measurement. The key benefits of using a
scorecard

Religious Language In The Handmaid s Tale
Language is a building block when it comes to writing. It covers most aspects of writing, such as word
choice, syntax, phrasing, etc. It s the process that engages the audience. Ranging from a 10 volume
series of World War II analysis to Dr. Seuss, language is malleable, in which it s shaped to fit the
theme at hand. It s a powerful tool that can affect the emotion of the reader and the overall atmosphere
drastically. If the writing is boring, with simple and empty words, no imagery, of course it would pain
you to flip to the next page. On the other hand, if the writing has expressive word choice, has imagery
that paints a vivid, living world in your head, you would race through the story to find out what
happens next. Specifically I would like to bring attention to the fact that language is power, and in the
novel, The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, this is a prominent idea that is illustrated
throughout the entire book. Atwood made it so that power is created through religious language,
freedom of speech, the speech ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is evident throughout the entire book. In Gilead, religious language is what sustains the
theocratic government. It also plays into the freedom of speech, where individuals are compelled to
use when communicating and interacting, making it normal in their daily lives. There are many
religious references in the book, such as the positions, the roles of individuals in the book, like the
Angels, Guardians, Jezebels, Marthas, and the assigned names for the Handmaids that take away their
sense of identity in the autocratic state of Gilead. The store names, as well, such as Daily Bread and
All Flesh. Bread is a reference to the bible, where bread is considered a celestial food. As for flesh, it
is a reference to a quote in the bible that people go through the stages of life, being born and carrying

Analysis Of The TED Talk Txtng Is Killing Language
The first text message was sent 25 years ago, on December 3, 2017, another leap forward in
communications technology. Texting, like the fax, email, or instant messages allowed people to
communicate nearly instantaneously through writing. As texting and other forms of instant messaging
have developed, so have new ways to abbreviate words used throughout instant communication. These
abbreviations feature phrases like, LOL which is laughing out loud, THNX which is thanks, and BRB
which is be right back. The essay, Texting by David Crystal defines several texting abbreviations, and
describes why someone might uses texting abbreviations, or textspeak as he calls it, as well as the
issues that can arise from using textspeak (241 246). Another essay, r u online? : The Evolving
Lexicon of Wired Teens, details how teens today are using instant messaging as their main form of
communication, and expresses concern for the consequences of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere
at an instantaneous rate (247 249). Finally, the TED Talk Txtng is Killing Language. JK!!! by John
McWhorter, emphasizes that many of the fears concerning the effects of texting on language are
unfounded (00:00:00 00:13:48). Due to the new abbreviations, and the lack of emphasis on full
sentences or proper grammar, many people have concerns that texting and instant messaging are
having an adverse effect on the English language. However, their fears are unfounded; texting has

Colorado Water Shortage Essay
Colorado s Water Shortage; a Localized Problem with a National Salience
The Issue at Hand
The State of Colorado has suffered from a water shortage in recent years; a difficult situation which is
easily visible when viewing the quickly shortening length of the Colorado River. Lake Mead, for
example, is roughly 130 feet lower than it once was, marked by the stained rock which towers above
the current water level. The river has become a perfect symbol of what happens when we ask too
much of a limited resource: it disappears. In fact, the Colorado no longer regularly reaches the sea
(Zielinski, 2010). Legislation was implemented early on to address this issue, though the results were
(perhaps not surprisingly) rather unanticipated, regarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The upper basin states (including Colorado) were allocated a much greater percentage of the water
than the lower basin states, while the upper basin states were developing at a much slower rate than
those in the lower basin, notably California. Nevada (as of 1997) anticipated being unable to rely just
on this water by 2015, while in 1997 California was already exceeding its originally allocated supply
by diverting unused water from the upper basin states (Arizona.edu, 1997). It goes without saying that
this legislation from the early twentieth century is not going to be sufficient in coming years as the
development of these regions has progressed at a much faster rate than originally anticipated, and it is
the responsibility of state and federal governments, water management companies, as well as appeals
from farmers and non farming residents alike to come to an agreement on how to apportion water and
how to implement secondary hydration plans due to the rapidly declining resource that the once
magnificent Colorado River was able to supply us

Ethical Discrimination On Tattoos
Tattoos have been dated back to 5000 BCE. Tattoos have played the role of being badges of honor,
ceremonial markings, signs off social rank, forms of punishment, and of course ways for people to
beautify themselves (The Cultural History of Tattoos). Over the past years, tattoos has increased and
continues to increase significantly in popularity. According to statistics, 36% of American adults in the
U.S. between the ages of 18 25 and 40% of American adults in the U.S. between the ages of 26 40
have at least one tattoo (Seth). While the trend of getting tattoos are increasing, the concerns of the
employers starts to increase. People who have tattoos should not be discriminated because it is
unethical, a form of self expression, and art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Elzweig s research may seem trivial, it is in fact crucial in terms of today s concerns about
the discrimination of tattoos in the workplace. While it is true that there are laws that protect others
from discrimination against gender, race, sexuality, etc., it does not necessarily follow that one has
protection from the discrimination against tattoos. Society has come to a realization that a difference
in someone s skin should not change how others view or treat them, so why do people treat those who
have tattoos differently than those who do not? Although it is granted that if one is being treated
differently at his or her job it is considered employment litigation, one can take action and bring the
situation to court. Nevertheless, when it comes down to dress code, the employer has every right to
release those who don t respect the rules. As stated in Elzweig s quote, if a person who has a religion
that requires them to have body modifications, they are protected by the law and they have the right to
take the employer to court for employment discrimination if employee states otherwise. In addition,
Elzweig suggests that the employment practice violated a constitutional right. Title VU made it
unlawful employment practice for an employer... to discriminate against any individual... because of
such individual s race,

We were going to need to figure out the volume of our bag and get the correct amount of each substance so when it fully reacts the gas formed can blow up the bag. The goal is to get it fully filled without it exploding or not filling up all the way. It s like mixing baking soda and vinegar together it makes the same fizzy substance in a way along with a gas which most people use for volcanos. • 4. Economic Sustainability And Economic Development Sustainable. Often heard used as a marketing buzzword to boost sales or win votes, it is firmly ingrained in the contemporary public psyche. A term first largely introduced by the 1987 Brundtland Report (by The World Commission on Environment and Development) who defined and politicized the term sustainable development , sustainability has since taken on numerous connotations. Ecological sustainability refers to the robustness of our ecosystems and the ability to maintain or enhance our planet s unique biodiversity. Economic sustainability is defined by Cato as continued economic development while not degrading our planet s ecology (Cato, 2011), however not all definitions accord such a large role to the ecological state of our planet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where environmental problems are concerned, the neoclassical approach does not account for the market failure that occurs when all individuals are making decisions to achieve their personal greatest happiness . While theoretically this leads to a balanced optimum market; exclusivity, non excludability, externalities, imperfect information, inappropriate government regulations and prisoners dilemma all prevent the macro economic market from reaching a true pareto optimum (Goodland et. al, 1987) as predicted by the paradigm. In environmental terms, market failure results in an array of impacts of varying significance that are often amplified by the globalized macro economy and our planet s vast social inequity. For example, an externality such as air pollution may not directly affect the consumer, but can have adverse impacts on the local environment where the product was produced. This impact is often not reflected in the market value of the product, altering marginal cost curve and undermining the possibility of reaching an optimal market. In addition, the impacts of market failure often disproportionately affect the poorest communities and amplify social inequity. The neoclassical paradigm is thus fundamentally ... Today it is almost a norm to see countries engaging others in war. Today the greatest problem facing many nations is international relation. Countries have failed to live like decent neighbors. There is disunity among many nations. War between nations is caused by mistrust and tension. Nations purchase arms to stock their armory. Major inventions are made daily in out on nuclear power and how to develop sophiscated weapons. This tries to explain the fact that countries are always in mistrust of each other. During these attacks, there were deaths on both sides. The greatest casualties were the children. Israel came to withdraw its security forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000. Another serious crisis came to be in 1980s. This was the intifada. A group of young Palestinians confronted Israeli troops with sling shots and stones. The outcome was not acceptable and many of the youth were shot dead. To lay an offensive attack, the Palestinians used suicide bombers to kill the Israeli troops. Many innocent civilians were killed from both sides. In 1993 the Oslo peace accord was made. In this accord Israel accepted to recognize the Palestinian liberal organisation (PLO). They were also to give the PLO limited autonomy. The conditions were that PLO were to end a Palestinian claims on Israel territory. The accord was met with different reaction across the world. • 6. Analysis of a PHD Student´s Research on Investment Inequality Summary: In Economic Elites, Investments, and Income Inequality from the academic journal, Social Forces, graduate Ph. D student from Ohio State University, Michael Nau presents throughout his study the rise of an additional factor that has evidently influenced the concentration of vast amounts of income among the elite class, income from investments. In this era, the common belief is that demographics, labor market institutions, and technology are causing the inequality to rise and for the elites to produce astounding amounts of income. Nau s findings present how the debate over the incomes of the elites has to be expanded apart from the working rich class to also include the income producing wealth. In addition, Nau presents how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, he mentions the sociological and economical view, which is the belief that the rise of inequality is due to institutional changes such as the fall of minimum wage and the loss of union power. However, when it comes to the income of the elites he argues that the income growth due to investment is a imperative fraction to this confusion of how the wealthy are accumulating unlimited amounts of money and causing social inequality. Nau then explains how there are three hypotheses to the shift in economic power toward the investors and their concentration and growing income share during the decades of 1990s to 2000s. In the first place, Nau presents the hypotheses that the income concentration of the wealthiest was being driven by investment gains. At the same time, he presents that also at this time, top income households took on the title of investors imitating their behaviors and characteristics. Finally, his third hypothesis states that both the contribution of investment income to income inequality increased relative and changed to non investment income. When it comes to the data and methods, this study used the Federal Reserve Board s Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF), which is a repeated survey that includes the information on household income and wealth holdings; the Federal Reserve conducts this survey every three years. Any visit in the area seems incomplete without this jewel in the itinerary. So we had no intention of missing this must have destination. We decided to cover it over two days including the trip of famous mountain railway toy train on the second day. We left Chennai on night of 23rd December by Nilgiri Express and reached Mettupalayam by 6 in the morning. Mettupalayam is like a base town for the beautiful hill station that Ooty is. As we passed through the Coonoor region which is almost midway between the base and destination, the scenery changed gradually to include tea plantations and while we were tempted to stop, we were reminded that this scene is going to be with us for most of the upcoming trip. In interest of getting ahead of the traffic, we decided to skip these plantations for something which we now know was worth the wait. We also stopped by for few moments at the Kattery Park on the way which is a children s garden built in absolute beautiful surroundings. One would find it difficult to imagine the beauty that nature has on offer and one needs to be present there to realize it. As we had anticipated, avoiding traffic helped us move fast and we checked in our rest house by 8:30 AM. It was really a lovely accommodation surrounded by hills and nested in picturesque scenery. This wage gap reflects the worldwide norm that women receive less money for working as passionately as men do. Even though Lena offers the basic ideas for Harold s business, Harold does not recognize her efforts. Furthermore, Lena constantly belittles herself. She blames herself for the unexpected death of Arnold, her childhood neighbor who incessantly bullied her. She wonders, Why did Arnold single me out for his rubberband torture? We often isolate ourselves from the lives of those around us. With each little bit of isolation we become a little more dehumanized each day. Instead of walking around to places we find ourselves using cars to travel, each day removing ourselves more and more from greeting and contacting new people. We have furthered this isolation through working in cubicles, and automation through computers and factories. Tv creates another scenario where we watch fake realities instead of being around other people. Even in a movie theatre we are isolated because we stare at the big screen instead of holding a true conversation with someone else. I have nothing against these inventions, the trouble is that they can lead one to focus more on themselves and less on their fellow man. Selfishness creeps in and pushes aside the desire to give to others. Instead of improving and uplifting humanity we are working backwards. Now, not everyone is this way, however if we aren t mindful of our own intentions and actions you may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jack Welch and the Ge Way When Jack Welch was named CEO of General Electric, Welch saw a company in trouble even though the business world saw GE as an intrinsically healthy corporation, secure in its position as a world industrial leader. Welch knew that the company was too large to fail yet GE was too unwieldy to adapt for further growth. The changes he instituted restructured and revolutionized GE and made Welch the most respected CEO in business today. After reading the book there were three parts that really stood out for me. According to Welch, a business leader is obligated not only to create vision, but also to make sure employees are living that vision at every level of the organization. You don t get anywhere if you keep changing your ideas. The only way to change people s minds is with consistency. Once you get the ideas, you keep refining and improving the; the more simply your idea is defined, the better it is. You communicate, you communicate, and then you communicate some more. Consistency, simplicity, and repetition is what it s all about (p. 55). As Welch pounded his message home over the years, he won the hearts and minds of the GE workforce and converted critics into believers. I think consistency is a large part of a company s foundation that holds everything together. Some managers forget to communicate and consistency is lost about many issues. If managers are ... In my eyes, Tyler was a man no one could understand, he had a past that made him who he is. I once fell in love with him. Everyone was confused, how can a smart, caring, sweet girl steal the heart of a rebel, a person who runs from things with feeling. Some people say opposites attract but I say it s the souls that longs for eachother rather than looks or personality. Loving him felt like destiny, like it was meant to be. Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity to trade, theory of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came up with the theory of absolute advantage where the country that produces more of one good that another country has simply an absolute advantage over it. This theory normally constructed with two commodities and two countries. In Schuhmachers article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of doxography in the history of economics he says, each nation can produce one good with less expenditure of human labor than the other and thus more cheaply. This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B can produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and then trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A (Economics Online, 2017.) Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However, because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses. Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. According to this theory, one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect to the availability of the factors of production. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Canadian Pacific Railway ( Cpr ) The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), officially founded in 1881, marked a significant milestone in Canadian history. At the time it was legitimately formed, no one could have ever imagined the evolution and progression that it has made to present day. Over the past 150 years, the CPR has underwent and endured its fair share of sacrifices. However, there are countless reasons why the CPR should be viewed, remembered, and revered as a successful project. Throughout this essay, numerous topics, from the origins of the railway s formation to its relevance and continued influence during present day, will be illustrated and examined in great detail, as well as why the project itself was an overall success. First and foremost, the idea of having a railway built throughout Canada was already in existence long before 1881. However, it was not until Confederation was passed on July 1, 1867 when [The railway s] realization was found to be a political necessity (Leary, 5). In other words, Confederation did not just mark the date in history where the federal Dominion of Canada was born, but, it had also opened the doors necessary to make the project a reality. • 15. The Organizational Culture Of The Beef Industry 1. Introduction When the Beef industry took a hit about ten years ago, one company who was able to stabilize itself in the rocky market was KBJ Beef Processing Equipment. The question now that they have successfully implemented a new system into stabilizing their business, is how do they begin to thrive in it? Currently, the system they have implemented is much more effective than the prior. One key to the new system was the idea of reduced roles. This was key strategy because it allowed the company to consolidate and focus on themselves rather than worry about the market. Instead of panicking, they looked inward to discover the key to surviving in a sinking market. 2. What are the New Ideas The organizational culture within the company ... This kind of high employee efficiency mixed with happy workers produces an outcome that will save KBJ Beef Processing Equipment from the seemingly inevitable downfall of the beef market. 3. Comparisons The main reason Suede implemented this structure was because the efficiency of the company was not where it needed to be in order to survive the tough times. When information or tasks were sent down the chain of command, it was usually too late or often not even deemed worth solving. Suede on the other hand wants to create a system where every small problem, no matter how small, is solved so the company can continue to operate on as high of a level as possible. He was also able to turn the mentality of the company completely around. Placing the responsibilities of the employees completely on their own shoulders was the best thing to happen to KBJ Beef Processing Equipment. • 18. Hunt Descriptive Writing Waking up before the rising sun on the morning of the hunt left me feeling groggy with my eyes slow to open and close when blinking. Being extra quiet to not wake up my mother was a main challenge, trying to tippy toe around the cabin and dodging the creaky spots in the floor. Prior to eating breakfast, I began getting dressed. Due to the fact that I was in northern Minnesota, the weather was bone chilling and the wind would seep right through your layers onto your unexpecting skin. Once I had put on my long johns, sweatpants, and long sleeve shirt with a tee shirt on top I began to make my breakfast. I had decided to have scrambled eggs that were cooked to perfection with the yolk golden mixed in with the pure snow white egg white and flakes of pepper sprinkled throughout and toast with butter melted onto the crunchy outside making it soft with homemade strawberry jam spread thick on top. After I had finished my meal I continued getting ready. In doing so I put on the remainder of my clothes, my sweatshirt and hunting pants came next followed by my wool socks and winter hunting boots. Next I checked to make sure my backpack was ready and had all the essentials in it in case something were to happen. Throughout our lives, and especially in our younger years, we develop different changes and experiences. For instance, after sent to stand in the corner for the tenth time Billy finally realized that the action of talking back to his mother had consequences. My third topic, the purpose of education, has several areas in it that I am going to discuss, the first being the general importance of education. Spring outlined many goals for education. The prevention of teenage pregnancies, prevention of drug abuse, and the prevention of the spread of sexually transmitted diseases were among the many goals. To achieve these goals I agree with the pragmatist/progressivists that believe that we need to teach kids how to think and not what to think. By teaching kids how to think we will allow them to see the consequences of their actions and let them make the decision of whether they can handle the consequences or not. Today kids are taught what to think and not how to think so they rebel to get out from under the control of their authorities not seeing the consequences. For this reason education is very important, because it allows students the opportunity to make educated and well founded judgments and decisions that they may not have been able to make otherwise. Bell knew that in order to produce sound to transmitting through a wire he would need more then one transmitter, but having several transmitters in a series would send the current at different rates. Team work is the ability to work together towards a common vison or a goal. The capability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. In my word, I say that teamwork acts as a fuel that allows common people to achieve uncommon results. It is also important that everyone else in the team understands the meaning of teamwork. The only catch is she learned only from media, which was black and white, so she knows nothing of the colors outside this room. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with this for physicalism is that fact Mary would realize how mistaken her knowledge of other s conceptions has been. Even though Mary would have known all of the neurological processes in a person s mind, she would not have known the person s actual experience involved in the process. There would also be facts she did not know about objects, but she would know all physical facts about them. For this reason it is not any experience the object may have, but a fact about the object itself. In the article the main point seems to be the fact that, for example, Mary would see red for the first time she would be learning something. However, physicalism is not threatened merely by the fact Mary learns something. The factor disproving physicalism is the fact Mary learns something new about the object that is red. For example she can see a tomato is now read. Her teachings showed her all physical attributes to the tomato and she would know everything about it. The problem is that she had no idea what red was until she saw red, therefore she did not know everything physical about the tomato. • 35. Hero Vs Hero Pericles once said The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding go out to meet it. More than 2000 years later, Pericles thoughts are still those of what today s hero is. A hero today struggles, yet still manages to overcome these complications with an act of bravery. Rather than thinking of themselves, a hero is usually willing to put others before themselves and show audacity in the face of difficulties. First, Heroes are not thinking of themselves, but instead are showing acts of kindness towards others. For example, after 9/11 a large amount of sailors showed up to evacuate Manhattan, due to closed down airplanes and subways. These sailors showed pluck because many of them believed they were a target for another attack. Vincent Ardolino, one of the captains who responded to the call, recounts his conversation with his wife before he leaves. After learning of his decision, Ardolino s wife asks But what if they attack again. To this he responds Well then that s something I have to live with (Boatlift Documentary) showing that he does not think about what may happen to him, but about what may happen to others. Similarly to his decisions is the mole rescue workers who dug people out of their homes after the earthquake in Mexico. For the developers Valve, the tournament was a huge success and another stepping stone in e sports rapid rise towards mainstream popularity and acceptance. However Valve also made another and no less profound statement of intent with the tournament that marks them as a distinctive force in the e sports and wider gaming industry and that is one of emphasising the generative power of play. This statement of intent became clear after a controversial incident occurred with the Ukrainian team Natus Vincere who employed a strategy that many considered to be a bug , glitch or exploit , or at least, certainly to an outsiders view. The strategy in question was the now infamous fountain hook Pudge / Chen combination that utilises a unique ability of the two champions (Pudges Meat Hook and Chens Test of Faith ) to create an effectively unstoppable move that pulls an enemy hero into the certain death of the base fountain if executed correctly. The if word is key here. This was an extremely hard combination to successfully employ that not only relies on a perfection of team unity in combining moves, but also on a huge level of individual skill on the part of Natus Vincere s Dendi in landing the initial Meat Hook from Pudge. However for the average spectator, many of whom were from a League of Legends background (1), it looked like an (albeit fun) exploit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The World s Largest Gas Company For Gas For over 40 years, Europe has been relying on Russia for the importation of energy, such as oil.5 One of Russia s major gas company, Gazprom, is one of the world s largest gas distributing companies, causing many countries to become dependent on the Russian company for gas. In 2015 alone, Gazprom exported around 158 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, and of those European countries to have received gas, Germany was the highest, with an import of 45.31 billion cubic meters of Gazprom gas. Countries in the Baltic region and countries in south eastern Europe are usually very dependent on Russian gas. About 41% of Russia s exports are sent to EU countries.7 According to Gazprom s statistics, Western European countries make up 82% of Gazprom s exports, and Central European countries make up 18% of their exports.3 These numbers are significant because it displays Europe s major dependence on Russian oil, which is a major problem, because of Russia s ability to deprive Europe of energy at any given time, as shown from 2006 to 2009, when Russia cut off Ukraine s gas line due to disputes regarding gas prices.23 If Russia decides to shut off gas to a region, it can lead to people being without ways to heat their homes or cook their food, leaving a big liability on the people. • 41. Comparison And Hyperbole In Long Day s Journey Into Night Family. People have their own definition of what a family is to them, whether the relatives are blood related, half or step related, to just friends. People consider family as thoses who have supported them all their life, through the positive and negative times. In Long Day s Journey Into Night, Eugene O Neill, writes about a family that seems well rounded but is unfortunately going through the struggle of an alcohol and drug problem. These characters fail to see they can turn to each other due to the dishonesty between the Tyrone s family. In Long Day s Journey Into Night, it is a play that takes place in the living room of the James Tyrone summer home in August, 1912. In this book, the story is told of one day in the Tyrone household, and even though it may seem as a short time to get all the information of the characters lifestyle, the reader still get s all the background information needed. By O Neill s writing it gives the details of why their family s behavior causes them to not trust each other and the challenges they are going through. The most common literary device that O Neill used that stood out to me were simile and hyperbole. When he used simile to compare one thing to another, it would help to understand what point he was trying to come across when the character would say certain things but their actions would differ. With using hyperbole, since it is to exaggerate statements but not to be taken literally, I understand why these character would act or have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After crossing the shoulder of Hardberry Hill, the harsher scenery of the lead mining period becomes more apparent. The valley is strewn with the remains of the Coldberry Mine, which closed in 1955 after more than 200 years of lead production. Coldberry was one of the largest lead mining complexes in the North Pennines. Accordingly, the immediate area of the mines holds the status of a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The most prominent scar on the landscape is Coldberry Gutter, the result of an early open cast mining method known as hushing . Hushing involved the construction of a reservoir with a turf dam on the moor above the suspected vein. When the reservoir was full, the dam was breached so that the sudden torrent swept down, tearing away the soil and surface rocks to expose the vein. The miners then used picks and shovels to loosen and remove the lead ore. The repetition of this process created deep gullies on the hillsides and are visible from many miles around. During the descent, we pass the remnants of a water balance incline; this consisted of a wheeled water tank which moved up and down an incline between two walls. A cable connected the tank to a bucket of ore at the bottom of the mine shaft; as the water balance descended, the bucket came up. After draining the water, empty buckets pulled the tank back up to the top. Using water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This shattering was most likely due to the repeated use of the same tube for the extraction. Plastic is usually good at containing high pressures, but if the material were to become brittle it would lose this ability and become fracture sensitive. The extensive benefits however come during the design phase rather than the actual implementation. Organizations who use balanced scorecards, but do so by replicate that of another organization without customization, fail in getting the benefits. Ranging from a 10 volume series of World War II analysis to Dr. Seuss, language is malleable, in which it s shaped to fit the theme at hand. It s a powerful tool that can affect the emotion of the reader and the overall atmosphere drastically. If the writing is boring, with simple and empty words, no imagery, of course it would pain you to flip to the next page. On the other hand, if the writing has expressive word choice, has imagery that paints a vivid, living world in your head, you would race through the story to find out what happens next. The river has become a perfect symbol of what happens when we ask too much of a limited resource: it disappears. In fact, the Colorado no longer regularly reaches the sea (Zielinski, 2010). While it is true that there are laws that protect others from discrimination against gender, race, sexuality, etc., it does not necessarily follow that one has protection from the discrimination against tattoos. Society has come to a realization that a difference in someone s skin should not change how others view or treat them, so why do people treat those who have tattoos differently than those who do not?
