Visual Inspection With Acetic Acid (VIA)
1.9.3. Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA): Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) is a
simple, inexpensive test, with moderate sensitivity and specificity for screening that can be
combined with simple treatment procedures for early cervical lesions (59). Visual inspectionis
direct visualization of the cervix after application of a solution of either acetic acid 3 5% (VIA)
or Lugol s iodine (VILI). A result is obtained immediately and treatment can be performed at the
same setting. In visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), CIN lesions will turn white for a few
minutes after application of acetic acid. The effect of acetic acid depends on the amount of nuclear
proteins, and cytokeratins present in the cervical epithelium, which increases in CIN. (60) Scaling

needs no treatment; however, treatment is recommended if patients meet the following criteria:
poor compliance, persistent CIN1 for more than one year, and women older than 30 years and
positive to oncogenic HPV or high risk of cervical cancer.
1.10.1 Treatment: treatment options include local ablative treatment andexcisional treatment (55)
1.10.2. Follow Up:Because recurrence is possible, especially in the first 2 years after treatment, and
because the false negative rate of a single cervical cytologic test is 20%, close follow up after
colposcopy and biopsy is imperative. For CIN II or III, cytologic examination or cytology and
colposcopy should be repeated every 4 to 6 months intervals for up to 2 years. For CIN I,
cytology should be performed at 6 and 12 months or HPV DNA testing can be done at 12 months.
If testing is normal, routine cytologic screening can be resumed (71).

Sports Violence Must Be Abolished
Hockey, football, and boxing all share something in common; and no I am not referring to the
skill, quickness, and finesse that is required for these sports. I am indeed referring to the intense
physicality that all three of these sports strongly value. As a devoted hockey fan, I am a witness
to a great part of the physicality that takes place. Therefore, I am well aware and understand that
physicality is crucial in order to compete in most sports, but we have to draw the line somewhere.
When there is primary intent to injure and physically hurt someone this is considered violence .
Violence is becoming increasingly prevalent in sports, and a majority of society is passive to the
negative effects it is imposing on society. Certain sports fanatics may want to argue that intense
physicality and violence is crucial for entertainment, as it brings in viewers. They may also state
that athletes themselves would not prefer to have that component eliminated as well. In terms of
professional hockey, a poll conducted by the National Hockey LeaguePlayers Association (NHLPA)
revealed that a staggering 98 percent of hockey players did not want the fighting component to be
eliminated in hockey, thus confirming that most athletes may want the physical nature to remain
the same. However, extended research revealed that approximately 68 percent of Canadian hockey
fans disagreed with the players and wanted fighting in professional hockey to be eliminated.

Shaping Identity Essay
Shaping Identity Identity. What is identity? One will say that it is the distinct personality of an
individual. Others will say that identity is the behavior of a person in response to their
surrounding environment. At certain points of time, some people search for their identity in order
to understand their existence in life. In regards, identity is shaped into an individual through the
social trials of life that involve family and peers, the religious beliefs by the practice of certain
faiths, and cultural awareness through family history and traditions. These are what shape the
identity of an individual. In today s world, society creates an impact on human life. More of an
impact can be seen among family and peers. They can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Work creates an identity for a person also. Whether its promotions to a higher position or being
unsatisfied and distraught with their job. People who enjoy their job and work environment
will create more of a confident identity compared to someone who does not will have an un
motivated identity. School has an impact as well when it comes to identity. It is where a
children, adolescents, and adults are influenced by acquiring knowledge and constantly being
surrounded by peers. Through school, memberships in friendship groups, cliques, or crews
helps build an identity apart from their relationship to parents. However, over identification with
a clannish group that rejects anyone who looks or acts different can limit personal growth.
Religion plays a part in a person s identity structure. It is the search of what one calls faith in one
s self and the worship of either one supreme being or numerous beings. But religion comes in
different formalities. There are those who were raised practicing their religion, those who were
influenced and converted, and those who were brainwashed. People who practice a certain
religion will more likely raise their children under that same religion. Being raised practicing a
religion creates the virtues and morals for that person s identity from an early stage. It helps
parents create a sense of direction and inflict the core values their children need. Some people have

Essay On Eve s Apology In Defense Of Women
During the Renaissance, citizens were required to worship the delegated belief making it
dangerous to be vocal about your chosen religion. As the Renaissance faded away to a new
period of the Enlightenment between the years 1603 and 1800 religious beliefs were pushed to
the forefront once again. However, this was also the Age of Reason therefore the people of the day
did not follow blindly, but wanted everything to be rationally proven. Society understood there was
scientific reason to the world they lived in and they were no longer ruled by Gods will. The
thinkers of the time believed the concept that civilizations could be enhanced through rational
thinking and change. An abundance of literary books and essays emerged during this time.... Show

By giving the apple to Adam Eve merely wanted to give him something she thought was
important because she loved him so and he should have been strong enough to resist. Lanyer

Chapter 4 Explaining Globalization
Scholte briefly examines six differing theoretical approaches to explaining globalization what are
they? What is the central theme of each?
Liberalisms Liberalist position globalization is, at the most elementary level, a result of natural
human desires for economic welfare and political liberty. As such, increased transplanetary
connectivity is ultimately derived from human drives to maximize material well being (through
markets) and to exercise basic freedoms (as guaranteed by publicly accountable government). For
liberalists globalization is an outcome of people s strivings to escape poverty as well as to achieve
civil and political rights. On a liberalist account it is inherent in market ... Show more content on

In these cases, transplanetary connectivity is said to have arisen because of the way that people
have mentally constructed the social world with symbols, language, interpretation, and so on. From
ideational perspectives, globalization has resulted from particular forms and dynamics of
consciousness. For methodological idealists, patterns of production and governance are second
order structures that derive from deeper cultural and socio psychological forces. Such accounts of
globalization have come especially from the fields of Anthropology, Humanities, Media Studies,
and Sociology, although idealist arguments have also influenced some researchers in Geography,
Politics and even Business Studies. One type of ideational explanation is constructivism, an
approach that has been popular particularly since the 1990s among International Studies scholars in
North America and Western Europe who wish to develop an alternative perspective to liberalism
and political realism. As the theory s name suggests, constructivism concentrates on the ways that
social actors construct their world: both within their own minds and through inter subjective
communication with others. Particularly, constructivists examine how inter subjective
communication generates common understandings of reality, shared norms for social behaviour,
and notions of group identity and solidarity. Conversation and

Hollywood Cone Executive Summary
Hollywood Cone s compensation strategy is one that is lacking in many areas. In order to
improve the overall effectiveness of their business, new strategies must be implemented. To begin,
the main issue Hollywood Cone faces is the retention of summer students. Summer students make
up a large portion of the employees at Hollywood Cone as their main product is ice cream, and the
demand is increased in the summer months. Prince and Chako (2016) state that, organizations incur
very high costs as a result of voluntary turnover (p.36). By recognizing that this is an issue and
implementing strategies to combat this, retention will be reduced and Hollywood Cone can
allocate these costs elsewhere. This provides the company with a great opportunity to continue to
keep labour costs low and to strictly hire part time workers. In order to keep employees coming
back, something needs to be done in regards to compensation and incentives.... Show more content

If this is true, Hollywood Cone must increase their compensation and implement reward systems
in order to re attract talent that they previously employed. Hollywood Cone must implement an
incentive or raise program in order to bring back previous talent. They can promote the return of
summer employees by offering a monetary raise, a gift card for a store of their choice or even an
appealing gift that caters to the age group that they are trying to attract. By implementing this
system, people are going to be more enthused to return and remain loyal to the organization. When
people are rewarded for their loyalty, they are going to be much more likely to come

How Did The Nile Shape Ancient Egypt My report will explain the various ways the Nile shaped
Ancient Egypt for every day life.
In the middle of the desert, though rests the Nile River. Ancient Egyptians relied on the Nile s
bounty to develop into a prosperous and thriving civilization. Food and papyrus, rainfall was very
sparse in Ancient Egypt, so Egyptians relied on the Nile to irragate their crops. Egyptians needed a
lot
of resources from the Nile to survive such as 1. People needed fresh water for drinking, bathing, and
cooking 2. The river was the water source for crop irrigation and 3. The Nile provided a highay for
travel and trade, and provided fish for eating and mud for brick making ( document A ). The Nile is

transport. The Nile was apparently the superhighway of Ancient Egypt. It enabled Egyptians to
move
goods and people up or downriver. The Egyptian people could move crops from places of plenty to
places of famine, which kept the whole society going. The river transport also gave craftsmen a
chance
to sell beyond their local market. In short, the Nile made the beginnings of a national economy

( document C ). The Egyptian people praise the river to the Hymn to the Nile because it keeps the
land alive
( able to produce food ), it floods the fields so that the animals will have the food they need to live, it
causes barley and wheat to grow, it allows for religious festivals ( in times of plenty ), and it makes
the
people joyful. The famous Greek historian Herodotus once wrote that Egypt... is, so to speak, the

I Had Never Felt About The Word As Anything Special
Thankful. I had never really thought of the word as anything special. Before I really experienced
the feeling of being thankful, I did not think of it as being an important feeling; not as important as
being happy, sad, angry, or anxious. Sure, there was a holiday named after it: Thanksgiving Day. I
didn t understand why being thankful was so important. And I did not understand until one day
when I was three years old.
Mommy! Mommy! I had yelled to my mother. Can we go back to dee room? That is where we are

crowd had already filled up most of the space in the elevator, so my family members were
squished into the corner. When I had tried to enter the elevator, the doors began to close.
Aaaaaaaah! I had thought, and had hopped back into the lobby, instead of into the elevator. A
sense of relief had washed through me, as I realized that I had saved myself from the clutches of
the elevator doors. Then, I had realized: I was separated from my mother! My emotions and
thoughts had changed drastically. One moment I had been thinking, YES! I saved myself from
becoming elevator prey!, and the next I was panicking. Oh no! Where did Mom go?
I had burst into tears and began yelling and screaming and sobbing. MOMMY! WHERE IS MY
MOMMY? WAAA! Then I had remembered that I didn t know exactly where Dad was, too.
DADDY! MOMMY!
What if I never see them again? What if somebody kidnaps me? Oh no, I might never see them

Vaccination was the rubbing of juice from herbs into skin incisions and was commonly practiced
by most slaves. Furthermore, Evil eye in Suriname was described as a sickness that babies and
sometimes adults could get when a person looked too strongly at them or admired them too
much while secretly being jealous. This could affect the victim s wellbeing, whether intended or
not. To cure or prevent evil eye, slaves in Suriname bathed their babies or themselves with water
containing Reckitt s Blue. Reckitt s Blue was sometimes also rubbed on various body parts of
the child such as: ears, palms and head. People also used herbal baths, jewelries such as bracelets
and waist beads or applied different substances to their skins in order to ward off spirits . In
addition, another cultural bound syndrome atita was known by all populations of slaves in
Suriname. The ailment atita was mainly defined by the color appearance of the fecal matter of
baby s which was tainted yellow and carried the consistency of diarrhea. The presence of this
symptom resulted in the manifestation of diaper or body rash. Treatments usually included herbal

Health Reporting Has Significant Public Health Implications
Health reporting has significant public health implications (Tang Peng, 2015, p. 187). Media usage
through radio, film, television or print, is a resourceful and valuable method to communicate health
awareness and health promotion (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw O Grady, 2014). Newspapers are a
valuable form of communication as 75% of American adults report newspaper utilization as a
source for health information (Tang Peng, 2015). Although effective on many accounts, this form
of print media has its disadvantages as national newspapers are intended to reach a wide audience
and does not necessarily reach the target population, such as the ruralsetting (Mason et al., 2013).
Such is the case as with this assignment. Elizabeth City is the largest city in northeastern North
Carolina, and national papers are not routinely delivered to households or larger businesses, such
as the hospital. In order to physically locate a national paper, a trip was necessary to the local
coffee shop, and the only national paper available was USA Today.
USA Today does not have a designated health section; however, on the bottom right of page 3A
of the September 1, 2016, edition, the first health article was featured, written by Liz Szabo. Liz
Szabo has been a medical reporter since 2004 and has reported on cancer, heart disease, pediatrics,

Introduction Of An Inventory Control Method
I.Introduction to Just in Time
When discussing just in time most people will focus on its initial position as an inventory control
method that attempts to match production as closely to sales as possible. This system attempts to
do this by producing or purchasing items just in time to be used, and thereby minimize the cost of
holding inventory (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1995). One
expert has stated that just in time seeks to produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be
sold, sub assemblies just in time to be assembled into finished goods, fabricated parts just in time
to go into subassemblies, and purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated
parts. In its most pure sense, just in time, seeks to have zero defects, zero machine setup times,
zero re work, and zero lead time, from the time an order is placed with the company until the
product is shipped to the purchaser (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007). In this pure just in time inventory
system, once raw materials enter the production facility they are not recorded or inventoried until
they leave as a finished good (Epps, 1995).
The concept of just in time was first established in the 1950 s by T. Ohno, the former executive
Vice Present of the Toyota Motor Company in Japan, to meet the precise demands of customers
for various models and colors of cars with a minimum delay (Swanson Lankford, 1998; Keller
Kazazi, 1993). Ohno himself has stated that his ideas were

Generally, municipalities will issue pensions bonds to cover liabilities set for employee pension
plans. While Orange County approved benefit enhancements that lowered retirement age and
increased benefits, thus increasing the pension liabilities in 2003, the advisory committee set up
after the bankruptcy did not immediately approve a corresponding pension bond at the time of the
article s writing. Refinancing Recovery bonds were issued in 1996 for Orange County. Saskal
(2004) provides the rates of the bonds were higher coupon bonds ranging from 5.6% with 2009
maturity to 5.8% with 2016 maturity and a 6.0% with 2026 maturity. According to the article,
repayment of the loans was to become a priority, however, due to legal/tax issues; the method of
payment is still to be determined. Conclusion The bankruptcy of Orange County, the high economic
county of California, took a lot of people by surprise. The ratings of the bonds were low risk
investment grade, yet because of a highly risky investment strategy and increasing interest rates, the
bottom fell out and the option Orange County followed was bankruptcy. For investors that stayed

25 November 2015 Fictitious: An egotistic thing In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller,
dishonesty played a role as an egotistic thing. Girls lied to save their lives and their love ones.
John Proctor lied to his wife, he thought he is being deceitful to his wife and it would be better
than saying the truth and hurt his wife. That s the reason why Elizabeth get cold towards John.
Mary Warren lied that John threat her to save Elizabeth. Rev. Parris lied to judges, he said he didn t
saw any of girls naked while when Mr. Hale arrived at Salem Rev. Parris told him he saw the girls
dancing and he saw one girl naked. The girls started the lies and brought throughout the whole play.
Girls brought up the Witchcraft Trial in Salem. The fact that fraud played a big role throughout the
play, characters like Abigail girls lied to the court, people who were charge with witchcrafts were
guiltless, they ve suffered, hanged, and died because of lies. In the whole play of The Crucible

An Analysis Of Auden s Ulysses By Alfred Lord Tennyson
For thousands of years humanity has grappled with understanding the mystery of our existence;
questions what our purpose in life is. Some become consumed with the idea of not wasting a
second of the time they ve been given, while others tend towards a more reserved, neutral lifestyle.
Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem, Ulysses, directly attacks the idleness of a mundane lifestyle while
promoting the idea of not letting life waste away through exploration of the life of Ulysses, the
mythical greek hero. Comparatively, W.H. Auden s, The Unknown Citizen, emphasizes the
pointlessness and monotony of day to day living through satirisation of the life of an archetypal,
modern individual. Upon analysis it becomes evident that Tennyson and Auden have... Show more

Journal One Throughout the session on October 4th, 2015 from 2pm to 5pm I participated
alongside members in a variety of passive and active activities. The theme of today s session was

was my responsibility to help make up easy and simple puzzles for individuals to solve, while also
aiding them on their teams to enforce rules and promote participation. It was interesting to see the
range of abilities everyone had, and how each individual s disabilities contributed to a great
atmosphere of learning, sharing and growing. In addition overcoming and identifying contextual,
personal, and task barriers was a first hand experienceI was able to understand throughout this

members, with accessible programming. From my volunteer efforts I also believe that my personal
contributions were beneficial to the members at The Club. I was able to help individuals with their
personal barriers and address them in appropriate ways with the programming. An example being
when I helped one of the club members by challenging their intrinsic motivationand lack of

Chipotle Company Case Study
Yes, transparency is important in all companies. Transparency is easier for some than others.
Transparency operates in such a way that it is easy for other people to see what action is taken. It
has been defined as the quality that is seen as intentionally shared information of the sender.
Transparency is practiced in companies, organizations, administration, and society. It guides the
decisions and policies of the organization to the disclosure of information to workers and the

For Chipotle Company, transparency is particularly important in leadership. Therefore, these

The Soviet Union Of Ukraine Essay
Author s Note: This paper and/or essay has been written perceptive from the past, considering how
things were perceived and accomplished in the early part of 2014 and into 2015. It does not take
into account anything that the current administration might have done or not done, to alter the
present outcome.
Intro/Background
Ukraine officially declared itself an independent state in 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union
, when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer
follow the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and only the laws of the Ukrainian
Soviet Socialist Republics. [1] More than two decades later, the sovereign nation still has trouble
escaping Russia s threatening shadow. Ukraine s geographical position between Europe and Russia
has left the country divided culturally and politically. After many recent months of protests and
street demonstrations, the Ukrainian people were successful in ousting their incompetent and
corrupt president, Vicktor Yanukovych. Russian President Vladimir Putin however, was unwilling
to accept this and in February of 2014 Russian troops, aided by pro Russian local militia, occupied
important sites across the Crimean Peninsula under the pretext of protecting Russian people. Now
Crimea and possibly Eastern Ukraine is under Moscow s control and the Russian parliament has
voted to annex the region into the Russian Federation. [2] This is nothing new for Russia, as was

The Use Of Film Techniques In Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow is a gothic horror film directed by Tim Burton in 1999. It tells the story of when
Ichabod Crane is sent to the isolated town of Sleepy Hollow to solve the mystery of the Headless
Horseman. The isolated gloomy setting for example, when Ichabod Crane enters the town, the film
techniques such as music and lighting such as when the Headless Horsemanappears combined with
characters that have supernatural powers including Catrina and Lady Van Tassel reinforces the idea
that Sleepy Hollowis a gothic horror film.
The town of Sleepy Hollow is isolated, dark and gloomy, it also has contains mostly gothic
architecture. This is to support the spine chilling atmosphere that Tim Burton has intended in the
film. This is to create a theme of fear and panic towards the viewer because the idea of gothic
horror is to create a suspenseful, isolated and dark environment in the movie. An example of this is
when Ichabod Crane arrives at sleepy hollow and is instantly greeted by a grave yard and a
gloomy, foggy and gothic looking town. The setting of the place in this scene is an excellent

say modern women I am referring to the women from about the 18th century to the current day. I
chose to focus on women imparticular because of the strong societal pressure that is specifically
place upon them to fulfill a certain role and aesthetically look a particular way. I wanted to
research the history of body art and how it related to these pressures and stigmas. In my research I

The slow acceptance of the tattoo began, but not without a wide belief in the stigma that a
tattooed person was lower in status and in cultural advancement than that of the modern world
(p 45 8). In America, tattoos soon began to be . modernized. and changed into more acceptable
forms of body art (p.49). Around the beginning of the 20th Century, many everyday people were
getting tattooed, but still the largest crowd getting these designs was servicemen (p. 51). A new
fetish concerning the tattoo art was the emergence of the display of tattooed people, from the
native to the modern tattooed person (p.53). Freak shows became a popular attraction in the
amusement industry, but soon became solely focused on the made freak, the tattooed, as the
view of natural born freaks evolved (p.53 4). During the late 1800s women began to emerge
within the freak show atmosphere and even became the more valued attraction and could even
use their sexuality to sell tickets. The heavy tattooing on these women required them to show
their bodies with less clothing than was socially acceptable at the time. The tattooed women
were careful to leave their faces and hands clear of tattoos so that it was possible for them to
have an alternate career (p. 58). As shown by this deliberate planning, the stigma of the tattoo was
very clear and it was not one of social acceptance. These women did pull of the image of being
classy and feminine despite

The Common Genetic Birth Defects
One of the most common genetic birth defects is Down syndrome which is a congenital disorder
caused from a chromosome defect. It causes impairments and physical abnormalities. This is a
condition where a child is born with an extra copy of their 21st chromosome. According to the
National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), 1 in 700 babies are born with DS. There is not an
exact cause of how DS happens but there is an explanation as to what happens. When there is
any case of reproduction, genes from both parents are passed to the children. Within these genes
there are chromosomes and the child is supposed to receive 23 pairs of chromosomes or 46 total.

Children with DS often grow slowly and as they become an adult they are shorter than normal.
Their neck can have excess fat and skin which makes it look shorter than normal. Short, stocky
arms and legs along with a wide space between the big toe and second toe is also a physical body
symptom. As for face shapes and features they can have slanted eyes, nasal bridge that looks
pushed in, small ears that look low on the head, irregularly shaped mouth and tongue. A child s
tongue can partly stick out and the teeth can come in late and in a different order than other
children. Most children with DS have mild to moderate cognitive disabilities such as impulsive
behavior, short attention span and slow learning capabilities. Some health issues that are often
symptoms of DS are heart defects, hypothyroidism, eye conditions, hearing and dental problems,
respiratory infections and depression. (What is Down Syndrome) Children and adults with DS can
face many major health concerns during their life. A few of the most common include repetitive

A psychosocial evaluation is usually conducted by a social worker and is designed to help the

Alexander the Great is known as one of the most significant and most influential historical figures

ancient history, by conquering the entire Persian Empire and extending his own empire into India,
he was without a doubt the most successful military figure in ancient history. There has never
been a military leader that has accomplished so much, in only approximately 32 years. Alexander
II of Macedon was born on the sixth day of the ancient Greek month Hekatombaion, which

Aristotle taught Alexander about medicine, morals, philosophy, religion, art, and logic.
Alexander ended up developing a passion for the works of Homer after influence from Aristotle.
Alexander received a copy of Homers Iliad from Aristotle, and later Alexander carried the same
copy with him when he went into battle. Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16.
The reason Alexander did not receive tutoring from Aristotle for a longer period of time is
because he father Phillip II went to war against Byzantion. For the time being, Alexander was the
temporary King of Macedon. During Alexander s father s absence, Macedon was attacked by
Thracian Maedi. With strong knowledge in battle, learned previously from Aristotle and

Alexander s father Phillip II, was assassinated at his daughter s wedding by Pausanias, who was

The Role Of Urban Life In The 19th Century
It cannot be denied that the late 18th century and early 19th century were revolutionary eras.
Significant and remarkable events such as the industrial revolution, the evolution of rural areas, the
development of new inventions and machinery, the rise of capitalism and individualism, but more
importantly, people migrating from rural to urban areas to have a better lifestyle, were topics
clearly depicted in the writings of Ferdinand Tönnies, Georg Simmel, Jane Jacobs, Robert Putnam,
Barry Wellman, and Barry Leighton. All these authors made great contributions to the study of
urban life and contemporary urban sociology. Tönnies s, Simmel s, Jacobs s, Putnam s, Wellman s,
and Leighton s writings mainly illustrate the dramatic changes that the world faced as a result of
the transition from traditional society to a modern, industrial and urban society. Furthermore, these
writers developed concepts to explain human interaction in metropolitan areas and to explain how
modernity and urbanity have changed dramatically the nature of human interactions. In Community
and Society, Tönnies (1887) discusses the concepts of Gemeinschaft (community) and
Gesellschaft (society). According to these concepts, people living in community and people living
in a society will develop a different type of will; these are essential will and arbitrary will.
Tönnies explains that individuals who form part of the Gemeinschaft act under essential will.
Essential will prioritizes the community s goals

Contemporary Criticism InJezebel, Drums Along The Mohawk,...
Contemporary criticism reflects the current audiences that are viewing the subject and their
mindsets. Early movies specifically needed to know their audiences, as the reception they
received could make or break actors, directors, and even entire studios. However, a movie
viewed in modern times can have a completely different effect on the viewer than the original
intended audience. Specifically movies, such as the ones shown here, that are based on
historical events. In the order of the years they were released, Jezebel, Drums Along the
Mohawk, and Unconquered, all focus on romantic relationships, and the different historical
periods they are dropped into. Each of these movies take a drastically different look at their
characters, despite their similar, specific, genre of romantic historical fiction. Each review of
the movies echoes this, with analysis of the characters, historic accuracy, and just overall how
compelling the story is. Firstly, Jezebel, directed by William Wyler, tells the story of Julie
Marsden (Bette Davis), a southern woman who pushes her boundaries during the antebellum
period of Louisiana. Specifically, Julie navigates how much she can stand against the conformity
of her society without loosing the love of her fiancГ© Preston Dillard (Henry Fonda). However,
after loosing her love, the movies second act creates a different version of Julie, as she has now
become a picturesque woman to try and win Pres back. After she learns that he now has a new

What Is The Disney World Vacation Essay
One thing I regret in life, is not taking our first family vacation sooner than when we did. My

in the happiest place on earth. The vacation I planned was 10 days long, to explorer roughly 40
square miles of property. Walking in each park you experience a different level of emotions. All
the trees were full as pig with decorations and lights. The lights showed off the bright colors that
shimmered off the oddly sized ornaments. Wreaths hung from every lamp post, with garland
stringed between them. During the evening all you see is flashing lights from cameras, everyone
trying to capture that special moment. Familiar caroling songs play all through the parks causing
you to sing along. If you time it just right, walking down Main Street, you will see how Disney
brings the holidays to life, with snowing blowing up and down the street. The snow is so life like,
melting upon contact with my skin, which is radiating heat. While walking down Main Street you
can smell fresh popcorn popping, available in souvenir containers. By far the best container was

The Importance Of Natural Disasters In Elementary Schools
Summary
Natural disasters occur frequently throughout the nation. As a state, New York may not be hit by
similar disasters as the rest of the nation, but we should still be teaching young kids about the
different natural disasters that can occur and how to properly prepare for them. Not only is it
important for young children to know for their own safety, but we know they will be the ones to
go home and tell their families about it. They will spread their knowledge about the safety
guidelines when it comes to natural disasters, but to make them aware we must have a curriculum
for emergency preparedness included in the classroom lessons for the year.
Discussion
Education is a valuable asset someone can have. We are taught a variety of information, some of
which stays with us for the rest of our lives and other information that is temporarily learned for
the purpose of a course. During elementary school, we are absorbing all types of new information
from learning the alphabet to learning how to write a sentence. Through these years we are also
taught basic fire safety skills, who to call in case of an emergency, and what to do in case of a
fire alarm or lock down. However, we are never taught throughout our years of school, how to
prepare for a disaster. It is during this time where we should implement a curriculum dedicated
specifically to emergency preparedness for students.

Two Theories Of Motivation
Motivation is one of the key ingredients in employee performance and productivity. Even when
people have clear work objectives, the right skills, and a supportive work environment, they would
not get the job done without sufficient motivation to achieve those work objectives (Mullins,
2006). Motivation refers to the forces within a person that affect his or her direction, intensity and
persistence of voluntary behavior. He added that motivated employees are willing to exert a
particular level of effort (intensity), for a certain amount of time (persistence), toward a particular
goal or direction.
2.2 Theories of Motivation
Motivation theory examines the process of motivation. According to Amstrong (2006), it explains
why people at work behave in the way they do in terms of their efforts and the directions they are
taking. It describes what organisations can do to encourage people to apply their efforts and
abilities in ways that will further the achievement of the organisation s goals as well as satisfying
their own needs. It is also concerned with job satisfaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead of the five needs that are hierarchically organized; Alderfer proposed that basic human
needs may be grouped under three categories such as Existence, Relatedness, and Growth. The
theory s name is based on the first letter of each need. Existence refers to our concern with basic
materials such as hunger, thirst and safe condition. Relatedness on the other hand, refers to the
motivation we have for maintaining interpersonal relationships like involvement with family,
friends, co workers and employers. Finally, growth is the intrinsic desire for personal development
for example, the desire to be creative, productive and to complete meaningful tasks. The implication
of this theory is that we need to recognize the multiple needs that may be driving individuals at a

This year their guest was Ronaldo Villazon. Mr. Villazon was born in Mexico city, and is know

songs were sung and played by the orchestra such as I Saw Three Ships, Carol of the Drum,

Villzon sung song from his culture. He sang Cancion para la Navidad, Il eat ne, le diving Enfant,

A Study On The Initial Value Of The Rdi
The RDI is expressed in three forms: the initial value (О±_k), normalized RDI (RDIn), and
standardized RDI (RDIst). The initial value (О±_k) of RDI is presented in an aggregated form
using a monthly timestep and is usually calculated for i th year in a time basis of k of consecutive
months using following equation: О±_(`k)^((i))=(∑_(j=1)^kв
–’P_ij )
/(∑_(j=1)^kв
–’гЂ–EToгЂ—_ij ),i=1,...,N and j=1,...,k Where pij and EToij are precipitation and
ETo of the j th month of the i th year and N is the total number of years of the available data. The
normalized RDI (RDIn) is estimated as follows: гЂ–RDIгЂ—_(n(k))^((i))=(О±_k^((i)))/(О±_k )
М… 1 In which О± М…_k is the arithmetic mean of О±_k values. Tsakiris et al. (2008) though
analysis of various data from several location and different timescales shown that О±_k values
follow satisfactorily both gamma and lognormal distributions however gamma distribution shows
the best fit in most timescales and locations. Therefore, the calculation of third form (RDIst)
performed by fitting the gamma probability density function to the given frequency distribution of
О±_k . The following equations have been used to calculate the standardized RDI (RDIst). The
probability function of gamma distribution is defined as: g(x)=1/(ОІ^Оі О“(Оі)) x^(Оі 1) e^( x
/ОІ), for x 0 Where Оі 0 is a shape factor, ОІ 0 is a scale factor, and О“(Оі) is the gamma function.
Parameters Оі and ОІ of the gamma function are estimated or each time scale (k) and for each
location. Maximum

Ad Analysis Essay 11
Ad Analysis
To commit ourselves to evaluating the old vs. new we have to first find examples of the two. What
I chose to compare and contrast are ads that focus on capturing a particular audience, that audience
would be the athletes on the hardwood. Pony has long been in the running for shoe corporations and
has, as long as I can remember, made a decent focus on comfort ability and style amongst the ball
players. Just Do It has never failed to get in the minds of every and anyone willing to lay on the

Its quick in its delivery but effective enough to persuade the eye to look at the shoe. There are
colors that match the uniform worn by the player with the personalized shoe. In this instance
Jason Richardson, who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats, is the culprit that makes his mark on the
feet of those who will purchase the shoe. The ad itself doesn t play on any specific meaning.
There is a picture of the shoe with Jason Richardson around the life size shoes and words in color
that read, Can You Dig It. The shoe itself is quite unique in design, it s a new shoe that appears to
be rather comfortable and trendsetting in one. The ad doesn t use gimmicks to push its products,
again that goes back to the reputation Nike has, it simply displays its shoe and you either like it or
you don t. Not as persuasive as previous advertisements Nike has made the public accustomed to.
In my theology of the comparisons, I found that Nike has forever been and will continue to be
the bar at which everyone will strive for. They push the limits of interests in people and find
ways to appeal to the ever changing generations. The ad although rather plain in appearance is
still new and does exactly what it needed to in order to showcase the product based off of what
Nike has done in the past and what they plan doing in the near future. Pony, in my opinion, is the
victor here. They have a solid punch line in what they were trying to stress. They emphasized

The Last Supper
The Last Supper Research Essay
The Last Supper is a religious scene in the Catholic bible, which tells the story of the last meal the
night before the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. An important role in its religion, the Last Supper scene
has been recreated by artists many times. These visual interpretations of the event generally show
Jesus, surrounded by his disciples. During the meal, Jesus breaks the bread and serves the wine
accompanied with the command Take this all of you and eat it... this is my body... do this in
remembrance of me . Three artists who have produced paintings of the Last Supper include
Leonardo DaVinci, Jacopo Tintoretto and Salvador Dali. Each of these artists interpreted the

In contrast to the physical reaction of the disciples, Jesus is calm with a peaceful equilibrium and a
dignified strength. He sits with his palms upturned to form a triangle with his arms and head, which
again refers to the number three symbolising the Holy Trinity.
By choosing this part of the story; he also chooses to leave out the bread and the wine normally
sitting on the table in visuals of the Last Supper. Leonardo s version is also the first to have Judas
sitting on the same side of the table as Jesus. Judas is identifiable by the symbols employed by
Leonardo, such as the money bag clutched tightly in Judas hand and the difference in his gesture
and facial expression to the other disciples. Although this painting breaks conventions, the realism
used by Leonardo helped the paintings function of conveying a true story to its audience to inspire
them to be more faithful.
Perceptions of this artwork will have changed over time, as today s audience is far less religious
and would therefore be more likely to see The Last Supper as an aesthetic piece of artwork rather
than a narrative of a biblical story or connection to God.

What Is T-Mobile Better Than AT T
CarlosCruz Miss Mcelligot ERWC period 16,May2016 T Mobile vs AT T T Mobile is better

articles and personal experience. It is preferable because of its nationwide coverage, plans,

cheaper price. T Mobile also has plans or benefits AT T does not offer or have. T Mobile is
preferred over AT T because they have the nations largest 4G LTE network, the fastest nation

Why Everyone Needs A Food Reserve
The current political situation in the United States has shaken people to the core. What once was a
stable country has quickly disrupted into chaos. This has lead many people to wonder what the
future might hold for those who are already struggling to get by. But it doesn t have to be this way
though. With careful planning, Americans can regain some control over their lives. And the best
place to start is with their foodsupply.
Why Everyone Needs a Food Reserve
Years ago, families always had a stocked up pantry. They joined together to grow the food that
was in it themselves before spending many hours in the kitchen preserving the fruits of their labor.
They had to. There was no way that they could survive the long winters if they didn t. But since
stores have all the food and supplies that everyone needs now, modern folks have ... Show more

It takes time to accumulate it all. However, there are a few tips that can help make the process
easier though. First of all, purchase some large containers with air tight lids to them. Use these
to store the dried goods that are usually sold in paper or plastic bags. The containers will help
prevent insects from getting in the food. They will also help ensure that the food doesn t spoil.
Next, go through all the food supplies that you already have. List them all out on a food
inventory sheet. That way, you will know how much of each item is already in the pantry. As
you buy more food, list it on the sheet. It will be easier to buy extras if you watch sales at the
local grocery stores. It doesn t matter what order that you stock up on each item, but it helps to
work your way down the list of supplies that you will need. Don t forget to include bottled water to
go with the food when you are shopping. If you are having trouble finding certain items in large
enough quantities, consider checking online for them. Many prepper sites offer them for a

Gender, Transgender, And Queer Essay
As a nation, the United States often views itself as a champion of lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) rights. While we are far ahead of many countries, quite a few of
which still criminalize same sex relationships, we aren t the queer utopia we like to see ourselves
as. Even today, there are many states within the US that do not have laws explicitly prohibiting
discriminationbased on sexual orientationin the workplace or during the hiring process. According
to the Human Rights Campaign s website, there are currently sixteen states that have no statewide
employment laws protecting the rights of queer and/or trans individuals in the workplace. An even
larger number of states have no laws protecting LGBTQ from housing discrimination. Since same
sex marriage was legalized in June 2015, many people feel as though the fight for equal rights is
over. However, what people tend to forget about, are the dozens of macro and microaggressions
queer people still face in many cities, towns, and states throughout the country. Not only are LGBT
people in the United States still subject to discrimination in educational institutions and in hiring
practices, but these discriminatory acts are highly regionalized. In 2011, the Gay, Lesbian Straight
Education Network (GLSEN) conducted the The National School Climate Survey, which aimed to
report the prevalence of homophobic and transphobic language in schools across the country. Not
surprisingly, the study reported that

What I hear, I forget; what I see, I remember; what I do, I understand.
Confucius, 451 BC
General
As young children, we all learn by doing. Toddlers learn to walk on their own with their parents
standing by as guides, providing a safe environment that makes it possible for the child to learn.
When a child enters the formal education system, unfortunately this rich environment of learning
by doing often disappears. The education system is still stuck in the industrial age with classrooms
more often designed for teaching rather than for learning purposes.

A well designed simulation meets all of John Keller s goals in the ARCS model (attention,
relevance, confidence and satisfaction). It presents a problem to be solved, allows the learner to
make choices, shows the consequences of those choices, and builds confidence in the learner when
the problem is mastered.
There are five major characteristics of simulations:
Simulations are problem based units of learning that are set in motion by a particular task, issue,
policy, crisis, or problem. The problems to be addressed by the participant may be either implicit or
explicit, depending on the nature of the simulation. The issues inherent in the simulation are not
textbook problems or questions in which answers are cut and dried and determined quickly.
Participants carry out functions associated with their roles and the settings in which they find
themselves. The outcomes of the simulation are not determined by chance or luck. Instead,
participants experience consequences that follow from their own actions. Participants experience
reality of function to the extent that they fulfill their roles conscientiously and in a professional
manner, executing all the rights, privileges and responsibilities associated with the role.

Summary Of The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell
Inside The Evidence On The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell discuss different concepts that
explain the sudden spread of a product or idea. Gladwell explains that this sudden and
instantaneous spread is very similar to an epidemic. Gladwell uses the examples of fashion trends,
the success of a book, the decrease of crime in New York City, smoking and the increase of suicide
rate. To explain the three rules of the Tipping Point, the law of the few, the stickiness factor and the
power of context (29) influence how a trend, product or action takes off as an epidemic. In the
power of context Gladwell introduces a different way of being a connector. That one person can

Gladwell presents us with many examples of real life situations when his idea of word of mouth
comes out to be true. In the majority of the examples and proves Gladwell shows in this chapter
heavily appeal to logos and ethos. Gladwell supports his argument with past historical events and
also with scientific studies. Not everyone will enjoy reading this type of approach Gladwell
decided to use for his argument. But it just simply gives more credibility to his argument. The
rise of the Methodist church is a better evidence to support one of Gladwell s main idea which is
the stickiness factor rather than using the rise to popularity of the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya
Sisterhood . Although, the Ya Ya Sisterhood reached success due to the word of mouth and
caused some stickiness, still not everyone is aware of its success. There is a greater percentage
of people who are part of the Methodist church and live according to the ideology taught by its
founder John Wesley (172). According to Gladwell the Methodist movement went from 20,000 to
90,000 followers in a space of five years. Also the fact that after centuries the Methodist church is
still relevant until this day and it is a better example to prove the idea of the stickiness factor or
the word of mouth but it also gives a perspective of how long something can stick

Thin Red Line Argumentative Essay
The most fundamental and prominent component of the soundtrack is undoubtedly the dialogue.
The dialogue aligns the screenplay and scenes while complementing the screenplay, score,
cinematography and story line. With out the dialogue this would have been a jumbled so so movie.
The end scene affirms this. Through out the movie you hear a narrative of intimate thoughts and
dialogue from key and characters. This narrative keeps the film in alignment and on track for the
ending. At the end you see a young red head man leaning contemplatively at the edge of ship
leaving the island watching other ships and land crafts approach the island attentively. Private

feel he did ok work. The score was generic to a war themed movie, such as We Were Soldiers,
Saving Private Ryan and Red Tails. While Thin Red Line s score was definitely better then Red
Tails it was no where close to the awesome composition to the work I know Hans Zimmer to do.
The music does not over power or under estimate any scenes, it seems to do just enough. However
the score does melt well with the cinematography but it doesn t enlighten or provide a spectacular

Bedford is about an hour north of New York City.
2. Weather and Climate:
Bedford New York is located in North Eastern United States. The average temperature there is

We receive enough precipitation that allows us to store water in reservoirs that can last year
round. The local area and surrounding towns contain several lakes which provide water for
NYC and its boroughs. It is a rich surrounding in Bedford, that is largely rural, filled with
deciduous trees making up small forests. I remember one year we grew pine trees, in the back
yard, and I distinctly remember one Christmas going out and actually lopping off the top of one of
those trees to put inside. This leads me to describe the area as relatively wooded, area that does
show clear signs of human development there, but nothing as great as an urban center, but more
just a light infrastructure.
3. Biogeography and soils
If I haven t already in subsequent chapters let me dive into the biological geography in this next
paragraph. Bedford is a series of hardwood forests, followed by open grasses that are maintained by
man. There does though leave a large amount of natural vegetation and wildlife. Bedford has mostly
hardwood deciduous forests surrounding it. The ample amount of rain and the short winters allow
for these forests to take place. The wildlife though, much like the forests are not of much
noticeable variety, we don t have any large predators living near us, such as wolves, or coyotes. In
fact I don t ever hear about bear sightings either. The most common animals that I see are the
squirrels and the deer population. Granted on occasion

In all of human history, people have written about inhuman beings, many of which include gods,

everywhere in media. Most of society stopped believing in these creatures years ago, but for
17th century Salem, witchcraft became a living nightmare (Fremon, 1999). I have studied this

It was known as St. Anthony s Fire because of the burning sensation in the limbs and blackening
of the skin. Monks, who ate white wheat bread and not rye bread, were treating the victims and
shared their wheat bread with them, which helped the victims to heal because they were not
eating infected bread (Bonnet Basson, 2004, p. 213). Ergot has been used for medical purposes
since the late 1500s but was not acknowledged academically until the 1800s. Midwives used it to
prevent excess bleeding during childbirth. It was not used for long because it caused uterine
spasms and dangers to the child. In the early 1900s, W. A. Jacobs and L.C. Craig of the
Rockefeller Institute of New York developed lysergic acid by studying ergot. Swiss chemist,
Albert Hoffman, experimented with the mold, ergot, and the alkaloids that made up lysergic acid,
and was studying diethylamide but the new substance had no medical uses. From this, he
subsequently created the drug LSD. (May, 1998) Ergot can affect any part of the body in both
people and animals and can cause problems in any body system, known or unknown. The
symptoms can range from mental to physical distresses, such as extreme confusion and
hallucinations to convulsions and crippling loss of movement (Bonnet Basson, 2004). While LSD
is not addictive, it can do damage similar to, but not as extensive as, the plant of its origin, ergot. In

Health Care Reform Throughout The United States
Abstract
Health care reform and health care itself has been a debatable subject for quite some time. Health
care is a major issue that is found not only in the United States, but around the world. Controversy
has gone around this subject due to the causes and effects of the reform and the matter of not being
successful as many hoped. The World Prosperity Organization and the Institute of Medicinehave
two intriguing viewpoints about health care reform and what is needed to be done. The World
Prosperity Organization touches bases on medical negligence, premedical education, money,
mindset, medical school and the health care system itself. The Institute of Medicine focuses on the
need for healthcare to be safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient and equitable. As the
viewpoints are noticeably different, they still wrap around the idea that health care reform has
room for improvement to be more successful and not have a negative impact on people around the
world. The both agree that something needs to be done and done soon. Health Care Reform Health
care is an important topic that needs to be addressed more often and looked into more thoroughly.
For many years, and even today, our health care system in the United States has effected many and
been the cause of numerous cases throughout our country. It must be noted that this problem is not
just within our country but various countries around the world. This has caused many people,
especially politicians and

Taking a Look at Sedum or Stonecrop
Sedum (Sedum spp.), or stonecrop, is a resilient succulent that consists of about 400 species that
can grow pink, white, red or yellow, butterfly attracting, star shaped flowers. Although some
varieties can thrive in warmer zones, most are hardy to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant
hardiness zones 3 through 9. Because these zones can experience sometimes unexpected cold
temperatures and frost, knowing which type of stonecrop to grow is essential to your success. (See
References 1 and 2)
About Sedums
Sedums varieties can range in height; some low growing varieties reach no more than 2 inches
in height, while some tall varieties can reach up to 2 feet or more. The low growing varieties
work well in rock gardens and make good ground cover, while the tall varieties work well in
borders or as cut flowers. The origin of the variety you choose to grow greatly determines whether
it will survive in your climate. Without proper protection, sedums that originate from tropical or
desert like climates won t tolerate cool, frost prone areas, while sedums that stem from cooler
areas, won t tolerate heat. (See References 1, p. 54 and References 3, p. 190)
Freeze Hardy Sedum Varieties
Sedums with finer, smaller leaves are generally more cold hardy and less heat tolerant than those
with large leaves. (See References 3) Some frost tolerant varieties that are hardy to USDA hardiness
zones 4 through 9 include the 4 inch tall tasteless stonecrop (S. sexantulare), which grows yellow
flowers

A Comparison Of Catch 22 And Captain Corelli s Mandolin
In Catch 22 and Captain Corelli s Mandolin, both authors suggest the unsettling idea that life holds
no universal conclusion because in actuality life is the continual clash of absolutes and therefore
refuses the reader the comfort of closure . Both novels handle the difficult subject of war using
similar postmodernist techniques to display it, such as fragmented narratives. However their
intentions and ideas of war are extremely different creating interesting comparisons.
De Bernier s novel, Captain Corelli s Mandolin, published in 1994, but set during the second world
war, is composed with multiple narratives, far from the omniscient narrator often found in 19th
century literature. Instead De Bernier s uses an amalgamation of formats ... Show more content on

When considering war we believe there is a good and a bad side, in the Second World War most
would conceive the Nazis to unequivocally be the enemy and therefore immoral. Perhaps this is
why the chapter The Good Nazi , in Captain Corelli s Mandolin, immediately unsettles the reader
as there is no irony in this statement. De Berneires presents Gunter Weber full of innocence and
as someone who has simply absorbed the propaganda of the Nazis. We see his innocence portrayed
in The Good Nazi ; Weber was a twenty two year old man and had never seen a woman naked
before...Weber was a still a virgin . The simplicity of De Bernier s language here reflects the
simplicity of Weber as a character. Weber causes us to question the limitations of our own heroism
or our capacity to see beyond propaganda. It could be argued that rather than the good Nazi he
represents the ordinary Nazi, he accepts what the state has told him as that is the easiest path. By
presenting us with someone who is ordinary it unsettles the reader as it draws a bond between the
reader and the character. Rather than blaming and seeing him as monstrous and all the other
preconceptions society holds against Nazis, we instead see qualities of ordinary humanity and
ourselves in him. Dr. Iannis statement, there would be no tyranny, Captain, and no wars, if minions
did not ignore their conscience . Is conceivably there to further

  • 2. Visual Inspection With Acetic Acid (VIA) 1.9.3. Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA): Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) is a simple, inexpensive test, with moderate sensitivity and specificity for screening that can be combined with simple treatment procedures for early cervical lesions (59). Visual inspectionis direct visualization of the cervix after application of a solution of either acetic acid 3 5% (VIA) or Lugol s iodine (VILI). A result is obtained immediately and treatment can be performed at the same setting. In visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), CIN lesions will turn white for a few minutes after application of acetic acid. The effect of acetic acid depends on the amount of nuclear proteins, and cytokeratins present in the cervical epithelium, which increases in CIN. (60) Scaling up and inclusion of VIA based... Follow Up:Because recurrence is possible, especially in the first 2 years after treatment, and because the false negative rate of a single cervical cytologic test is 20%, close follow up after colposcopy and biopsy is imperative. For CIN II or III, cytologic examination or cytology and colposcopy should be repeated every 4 to 6 months intervals for up to 2 years. For CIN I, cytology should be performed at 6 and 12 months or HPV DNA testing can be done at 12 months. If testing is normal, routine cytologic screening can be resumed (71). 1.10.3. When to ... • 3. Sports Violence Must Be Abolished Hockey, football, and boxing all share something in common; and no I am not referring to the skill, quickness, and finesse that is required for these sports. I am indeed referring to the intense physicality that all three of these sports strongly value. As a devoted hockey fan, I am a witness to a great part of the physicality that takes place. Therefore, I am well aware and understand that physicality is crucial in order to compete in most sports, but we have to draw the line somewhere. When there is primary intent to injure and physically hurt someone this is considered violence . Violence is becoming increasingly prevalent in sports, and a majority of society is passive to the negative effects it is imposing on society. Certain sports fanatics may want to argue that intense physicality and violence is crucial for entertainment, as it brings in viewers. They may also state that athletes themselves would not prefer to have that component eliminated as well. In terms of professional hockey, a poll conducted by the National Hockey LeaguePlayers Association (NHLPA) revealed that a staggering 98 percent of hockey players did not want the fighting component to be eliminated in hockey, thus confirming that most athletes may want the physical nature to remain the same. However, extended research revealed that approximately 68 percent of Canadian hockey fans disagreed with the players and wanted fighting in professional hockey to be eliminated. • 4. Shaping Identity Essay Shaping Identity Identity. What is identity? One will say that it is the distinct personality of an individual. Others will say that identity is the behavior of a person in response to their surrounding environment. At certain points of time, some people search for their identity in order to understand their existence in life. In regards, identity is shaped into an individual through the social trials of life that involve family and peers, the religious beliefs by the practice of certain faiths, and cultural awareness through family history and traditions. These are what shape the identity of an individual. In today s world, society creates an impact on human life. More of an impact can be seen among family and peers. They can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Work creates an identity for a person also. Whether its promotions to a higher position or being unsatisfied and distraught with their job. People who enjoy their job and work environment will create more of a confident identity compared to someone who does not will have an un motivated identity. School has an impact as well when it comes to identity. It is where a children, adolescents, and adults are influenced by acquiring knowledge and constantly being surrounded by peers. Through school, memberships in friendship groups, cliques, or crews helps build an identity apart from their relationship to parents. However, over identification with a clannish group that rejects anyone who looks or acts different can limit personal growth. Religion plays a part in a person s identity structure. It is the search of what one calls faith in one s self and the worship of either one supreme being or numerous beings. But religion comes in different formalities. There are those who were raised practicing their religion, those who were influenced and converted, and those who were brainwashed. People who practice a certain religion will more likely raise their children under that same religion. Being raised practicing a religion creates the virtues and morals for that person s identity from an early stage. It helps parents create a sense of direction and inflict the core values their children need. Some people have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On Eve s Apology In Defense Of Women During the Renaissance, citizens were required to worship the delegated belief making it dangerous to be vocal about your chosen religion. As the Renaissance faded away to a new period of the Enlightenment between the years 1603 and 1800 religious beliefs were pushed to the forefront once again. However, this was also the Age of Reason therefore the people of the day did not follow blindly, but wanted everything to be rationally proven. Society understood there was scientific reason to the world they lived in and they were no longer ruled by Gods will. The thinkers of the time believed the concept that civilizations could be enhanced through rational thinking and change. An abundance of literary books and essays emerged during this time.... By giving the apple to Adam Eve merely wanted to give him something she thought was important because she loved him so and he should have been strong enough to resist. • 6. Jan Aart Scholte Chapter 4 Explaining Globalization Scholte briefly examines six differing theoretical approaches to explaining globalization what are they? What is the central theme of each? Liberalisms Liberalist position globalization is, at the most elementary level, a result of natural human desires for economic welfare and political liberty. As such, increased transplanetary connectivity is ultimately derived from human drives to maximize material well being (through markets) and to exercise basic freedoms (as guaranteed by publicly accountable government). For liberalists globalization is an outcome of people s strivings to escape poverty as well as to achieve civil and political rights. On a liberalist account it is inherent in market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these cases, transplanetary connectivity is said to have arisen because of the way that people have mentally constructed the social world with symbols, language, interpretation, and so on. From ideational perspectives, globalization has resulted from particular forms and dynamics of consciousness. For methodological idealists, patterns of production and governance are second order structures that derive from deeper cultural and socio psychological forces. Such accounts of globalization have come especially from the fields of Anthropology, Humanities, Media Studies, and Sociology, although idealist arguments have also influenced some researchers in Geography, Politics and even Business Studies. One type of ideational explanation is constructivism, an approach that has been popular particularly since the 1990s among International Studies scholars in North America and Western Europe who wish to develop an alternative perspective to liberalism and political realism. As the theory s name suggests, constructivism concentrates on the ways that social actors construct their world: both within their own minds and through inter subjective communication with others. Particularly, constructivists examine how inter subjective communication generates common understandings of reality, shared norms for social behaviour, and notions of group identity and solidarity. • 7. Hollywood Cone Executive Summary Hollywood Cone s compensation strategy is one that is lacking in many areas. In order to improve the overall effectiveness of their business, new strategies must be implemented. To begin, the main issue Hollywood Cone faces is the retention of summer students. Summer students make up a large portion of the employees at Hollywood Cone as their main product is ice cream, and the demand is increased in the summer months. Prince and Chako (2016) state that, organizations incur very high costs as a result of voluntary turnover (p.36). By recognizing that this is an issue and implementing strategies to combat this, retention will be reduced and Hollywood Cone can allocate these costs elsewhere. This provides the company with a great opportunity to continue to keep labour costs low and to strictly hire part time workers. In order to keep employees coming back, something needs to be done in regards to compensation and incentives.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this is true, Hollywood Cone must increase their compensation and implement reward systems in order to re attract talent that they previously employed. Hollywood Cone must implement an incentive or raise program in order to bring back previous talent. They can promote the return of summer employees by offering a monetary raise, a gift card for a store of their choice or even an appealing gift that caters to the age group that they are trying to attract. By implementing this system, people are going to be more enthused to return and remain loyal to the organization. The Egyptian people could move crops from places of plenty to places of famine, which kept the whole society going. The river transport also gave craftsmen a chance to sell beyond their local market. In short, the Nile made the beginnings of a national economy possible ( document C ). The Egyptian people praise the river to the Hymn to the Nile because it keeps the land alive ( able to produce food ), it floods the fields so that the animals will have the food they need to live, it causes barley and wheat to grow, it allows for religious festivals ( in times of plenty ), and it makes the

Before I really experienced the feeling of being thankful, I did not think of it as being an important feeling; not as important as being happy, sad, angry, or anxious. Sure, there was a holiday named after it: Thanksgiving Day. I didn t understand why being thankful was so important. And I did not understand until one day when I was three years old. Mommy! Mommy! I had yelled to my mother. Can we go back to dee room? That is where we are going to right now, Mom had replied. I had felt really uncomfortable in my thick, heavy ski jacket, pants, and mittens. The humongous crowd had already filled up most of the space in the elevator, so my family members were squished into the corner. When I had tried to enter the elevator, the doors began to close. Aaaaaaaah! I had thought, and had hopped back into the lobby, instead of into the elevator. A sense of relief had washed through me, as I realized that I had saved myself from the clutches of the elevator doors. Then, I had realized: I was separated from my mother! My emotions and thoughts had changed drastically. One moment I had been thinking, YES! I saved myself from becoming elevator prey!, and the next I was panicking. Oh no! Where did Mom go? I had burst into tears and began yelling and screaming and sobbing. MOMMY! WHERE IS MY MOMMY? WAAA! Then I had remembered that I didn t know exactly where Dad was, too. DADDY! MOMMY! What if I never see them again? What if somebody kidnaps me? Oh no, I might never see them again! I had thought hysterically. Now I was terrified that those horrid thoughts would end up being true. • 12. Health Reporting Has Significant Public Health Implications Health reporting has significant public health implications (Tang Peng, 2015, p. 187). Media usage through radio, film, television or print, is a resourceful and valuable method to communicate health awareness and health promotion (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw O Grady, 2014). Newspapers are a valuable form of communication as 75% of American adults report newspaper utilization as a source for health information (Tang Peng, 2015). Although effective on many accounts, this form of print media has its disadvantages as national newspapers are intended to reach a wide audience and does not necessarily reach the target population, such as the ruralsetting (Mason et al., 2013). Such is the case as with this assignment. Elizabeth City is the largest city in northeastern North Carolina, and national papers are not routinely delivered to households or larger businesses, such as the hospital. In order to physically locate a national paper, a trip was necessary to the local coffee shop, and the only national paper available was USA Today. USA Today does not have a designated health section; however, on the bottom right of page 3A of the September 1, 2016, edition, the first health article was featured, written by Liz Szabo. • 14. Introduction Of An Inventory Control Method I.Introduction to Just in Time When discussing just in time most people will focus on its initial position as an inventory control method that attempts to match production as closely to sales as possible. This system attempts to do this by producing or purchasing items just in time to be used, and thereby minimize the cost of holding inventory (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1995). One expert has stated that just in time seeks to produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be sold, sub assemblies just in time to be assembled into finished goods, fabricated parts just in time to go into subassemblies, and purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated parts. In its most pure sense, just in time, seeks to have zero defects, zero machine setup times, zero re work, and zero lead time, from the time an order is placed with the company until the product is shipped to the purchaser (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007). In this pure just in time inventory system, once raw materials enter the production facility they are not recorded or inventoried until they leave as a finished good (Epps, 1995). The concept of just in time was first established in the 1950 s by T. Ohno, the former executive Vice Present of the Toyota Motor Company in Japan, to meet the precise demands of customers for various models and colors of cars with a minimum delay (Swanson Lankford, 1998; Keller Kazazi, 1993). Conclusion The bankruptcy of Orange County, the high economic county of California, took a lot of people by surprise. The ratings of the bonds were low risk investment grade, yet because of a highly risky investment strategy and increasing interest rates, the bottom fell out and the option Orange County followed was bankruptcy. Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem, Ulysses, directly attacks the idleness of a mundane lifestyle while promoting the idea of not letting life waste away through exploration of the life of Ulysses, the mythical greek hero. Intro/Background Ukraine officially declared itself an independent state in 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union , when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer follow the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and only the laws of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republics. Ukraine s geographical position between Europe and Russia has left the country divided culturally and politically. After many recent months of protests and street demonstrations, the Ukrainian people were successful in ousting their incompetent and corrupt president, Vicktor Yanukovych. Russian President Vladimir Putin however, was unwilling to accept this and in February of 2014 Russian troops, aided by pro Russian local militia, occupied important sites across the Crimean Peninsula under the pretext of protecting Russian people. It tells the story of when Ichabod Crane is sent to the isolated town of Sleepy Hollow to solve the mystery of the Headless Horseman. The isolated gloomy setting for example, when Ichabod Crane enters the town, the film techniques such as music and lighting such as when the Headless Horsemanappears combined with characters that have supernatural powers including Catrina and Lady Van Tassel reinforces the idea that Sleepy Hollowis a gothic horror film. The town of Sleepy Hollow is isolated, dark and gloomy, it also has contains mostly gothic architecture. This is to support the spine chilling atmosphere that Tim Burton has intended in the film. This is to create a theme of fear and panic towards the viewer because the idea of gothic horror is to create a suspenseful, isolated and dark environment in the movie. The heavy tattooing on these women required them to show their bodies with less clothing than was socially acceptable at the time. The tattooed women were careful to leave their faces and hands clear of tattoos so that it was possible for them to have an alternate career (p. 58). TГ¶nnies s, Simmel s, Jacobs s, Putnam s, Wellman s, and Leighton s writings mainly illustrate the dramatic changes that the world faced as a result of the transition from traditional society to a modern, industrial and urban society. Furthermore, these writers developed concepts to explain human interaction in metropolitan areas and to explain how modernity and urbanity have changed dramatically the nature of human interactions. In Community and Society, TГ¶nnies (1887) discusses the concepts of Gemeinschaft (community) and Gesellschaft (society). • 36. The Importance Of Natural Disasters In Elementary Schools Summary Natural disasters occur frequently throughout the nation. As a state, New York may not be hit by similar disasters as the rest of the nation, but we should still be teaching young kids about the different natural disasters that can occur and how to properly prepare for them. Not only is it important for young children to know for their own safety, but we know they will be the ones to go home and tell their families about it. They will spread their knowledge about the safety guidelines when it comes to natural disasters, but to make them aware we must have a curriculum for emergency preparedness included in the classroom lessons for the year. Discussion Education is a valuable asset someone can have. We are taught a variety of information, some of which stays with us for the rest of our lives and other information that is temporarily learned for the purpose of a course. During elementary school, we are absorbing all types of new information from learning the alphabet to learning how to write a sentence. Through these years we are also taught basic fire safety skills, who to call in case of an emergency, and what to do in case of a fire alarm or lock down. However, we are never taught throughout our years of school, how to prepare for a disaster. It is during this time where we should implement a curriculum dedicated specifically to emergency preparedness for students. • 37. Two Theories Of Motivation Motivation is one of the key ingredients in employee performance and productivity. Even when people have clear work objectives, the right skills, and a supportive work environment, they would not get the job done without sufficient motivation to achieve those work objectives (Mullins, 2006). Motivation refers to the forces within a person that affect his or her direction, intensity and persistence of voluntary behavior. He added that motivated employees are willing to exert a particular level of effort (intensity), for a certain amount of time (persistence), toward a particular goal or direction. 2.2 Theories of Motivation Motivation theory examines the process of motivation. According to Amstrong (2006), it explains why people at work behave in the way they do in terms of their efforts and the directions they are taking. It describes what organisations can do to encourage people to apply their efforts and abilities in ways that will further the achievement of the organisation s goals as well as satisfying their own needs. Relatedness on the other hand, refers to the motivation we have for maintaining interpersonal relationships like involvement with family, friends, co workers and employers. Finally, growth is the intrinsic desire for personal development for example, the desire to be creative, productive and to complete meaningful tasks. This particular musical performance was for Christmastime. Every year they feature a special guest. Usually it is an famous American singer or story teller, but this year it was more of a cultural experience. This year their guest was Ronaldo Villazon. Mr. Villazon was born in Mexico city, and is know for one of the most unique and compelling tenor voices today. He brought a very different flare to this performance. This show is presented in December around Christmas time. All of the songs sung, and reading that were read had to do with the Christmas season and Christ. Many familiar songs were sung and played by the orchestra such as I Saw Three Ships, Carol of the Drum, Miniature Overture from the Nutcracker, We Three Kings, Holidays at Home and more. Rolando Villzon sung song from his culture. He sang Cancion para la Navidad, Il eat ne, le diving Enfant, O souverain, O juge, O pere, from Le Cid, and more. He is a christen but is not a Mormon. • 39. A Study On The Initial Value Of The Rdi The RDI is expressed in three forms: the initial value (О±_k), normalized RDI (RDIn), and standardized RDI (RDIst). The initial value (О±_k) of RDI is presented in an aggregated form using a monthly timestep and is usually calculated for i th year in a time basis of k of consecutive months using following equation: О±_(`k)^((i))=(∑_(j=1)^kв –’P_ij ) /(∑_(j=1)^kв –’гЂ–EToгЂ—_ij ),i=1,...,N and j=1,...,k Where pij and EToij are precipitation and ETo of the j th month of the i th year and N is the total number of years of the available data. The normalized RDI (RDIn) is estimated as follows: гЂ–RDIгЂ—_(n(k))^((i))=(О±_k^((i)))/(О±_k ) М… 1 In which О± М…_k is the arithmetic mean of О±_k values. Tsakiris et al. (2008) though analysis of various data from several location and different timescales shown that О±_k values follow satisfactorily both gamma and lognormal distributions however gamma distribution shows the best fit in most timescales and locations. Therefore, the calculation of third form (RDIst) performed by fitting the gamma probability density function to the given frequency distribution of О±_k . The following equations have been used to calculate the standardized RDI (RDIst). The probability function of gamma distribution is defined as: g(x)=1/(ОІ^Оі О“(Оі)) x^(Оі 1) e^( x /ОІ), for x 0 Where Оі 0 is a shape factor, ОІ 0 is a scale factor, and О“(Оі) is the gamma function. The ad itself doesn t play on any specific meaning. There is a picture of the shoe with Jason Richardson around the life size shoes and words in color that read, Can You Dig It. The shoe itself is quite unique in design, it s a new shoe that appears to be rather comfortable and trendsetting in one. The ad doesn t use gimmicks to push its products, again that goes back to the reputation Nike has, it simply displays its shoe and you either like it or you don t. Not as persuasive as previous advertisements Nike has made the public accustomed to. In my theology of the comparisons, I found that Nike has forever been and will continue to be the bar at which everyone will strive for. They push the limits of interests in people and find ways to appeal to the ever changing generations. The ad although rather plain in appearance is still new and does exactly what it needed to in order to showcase the product based off of what Nike has done in the past and what they plan doing in the near future. Pony, in my opinion, is the victor here. They have a solid punch line in what they were trying to stress. They emphasized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(See References 1 and 2) About Sedums Sedums varieties can range in height; some low growing varieties reach no more than 2 inches in height, while some tall varieties can reach up to 2 feet or more. The low growing varieties work well in rock gardens and make good ground cover, while the tall varieties work well in borders or as cut flowers. The origin of the variety you choose to grow greatly determines whether it will survive in your climate. Without proper protection, sedums that originate from tropical or desert like climates won t tolerate cool, frost prone areas, while sedums that stem from cooler areas, won t tolerate heat. (See References 1, p. 54 and References 3, p. 190) Freeze Hardy Sedum Varieties Sedums with finer, smaller leaves are generally more cold hardy and less heat tolerant than those with large leaves. A Comparison Of Catch 22 And Captain Corelli s Mandolin In Catch 22 and Captain Corelli s Mandolin, both authors suggest the unsettling idea that life holds no universal conclusion because in actuality life is the continual clash of absolutes and therefore refuses the reader the comfort of closure . De Berneires presents Gunter Weber full of innocence and as someone who has simply absorbed the propaganda of the Nazis. We see his innocence portrayed in The Good Nazi ; Weber was a twenty two year old man and had never seen a woman naked before...Weber was a still a virgin . The simplicity of De Bernier s language here reflects the simplicity of Weber as a character. Weber causes us to question the limitations of our own heroism or our capacity to see beyond propaganda. It could be argued that rather than the good Nazi he represents the ordinary Nazi, he accepts what the state has told him as that is the easiest path. By presenting us with someone who is ordinary it unsettles the reader as it draws a bond between the reader and the character. Rather than blaming and seeing him as monstrous and all the other preconceptions society holds against Nazis, we instead see qualities of ordinary humanity and ourselves in him. Dr. Iannis statement, there would be no tyranny, Captain, and no wars, if minions did not ignore their conscience . Is conceivably there to further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
