Malrotation Of The Gut Case Study
Volvulus (Malrotation of the Gut)
A malrotation of the gut occurs when something goes wrong during development the small intestine
(gut or small bowel). When this occurs, the small intestine is not fixed in the abdomen (belly). The
intestines are held by just their blood supply. When the intestines become twisted, because they are not
fastened down, it cuts off their blood supply. It is much like a hose getting kinked. This loss of blood
supply leads to damage to the gut. This condition is also called volvulus.
SYMPTOMS
Most often this abnormality shows up during the first month of life. Sometimes it may not produce
symptoms until adulthood. Usually the abdomen becomes distended and there is vomiting of bilious
material. This is greenish or bile stained vomitus. There is usually cramping and intermittent
abdominal pain.
DIAGNOSIS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an X ray study using contrast material. Contrast material is something given to the baby by
mouth that shows the inside of the stomach and small bowel better. This X ray shows an abnormal
position of the first part of the small bowel located where the small bowel first leaves the stomach.
TREATMENT
A volvulus is a surgical emergency. This must be corrected immediately to preserve life.
The surgeon will untwist the intestine if necessary.
The surgeon will cut through the abnormal bands holding the organs in the wrong places.
The appendix will be removed. If the child were to have an appendicitis the diagnosis would be
dangerously delayed because of the abnormal position.
After the operation, it is extremely unlikely the bowel will rotate again. The body has internal scarring
called adhesions that hold things in

Accountancy Is An Important Statement In The Modern Age
Accountancy is a vital element in this modern era as it applies to the society. It is a term that is often
used for businesses only but actually can be seen everywhere from small stores to restaurants, schools
, hospitals, individual s own personal day to day life.
Throughout my IGCSEs I have developed a comprehensive understanding of accounting concepts
such as its principles, liquidity management, preparation of financial statements and the importance of
validation and control. Because of my keen interest in accounting, I decided to continue study the
subject at A level. What I didn t realize by this decision was the depth of knowledge I was going to
gain and how every single concept will become applicable to the real world. I spent most ... Show

The Most Important Fuel Of The World Is Energy Essay
The most important fuel in the world is energy. Energy is the capability to do work or the power which
can make changes in matter. We can use it in different ways in everyday life such as transportation,
entertainment, communication, personal comfort, agriculture and manufacturing. The world will come
to a standstill without energy. The best thing about energy is it can neither be created nor be destroyed
it just changes from one form of matter into another form.1 We can obtain energy in a useful form by a
system called Energy Harnessing Network. In this complicated system we extract raw energy in the
form of heat energy, light energy, solar energy etc and then transformed it into fuel for example coal,
natural gas, petroleum and electrical energy then stored it and use when needed. The engineers did a
lot of work on it and successfully did what was think impossible in the earlier time. They harnessed
energy in many different forms such as hydropower, solar power, wind mills and nuclear power etc.
There are two main types of energy that is kinetic energy and potential energy. If the object is at rest
then the energy it possess is called potential energy and if the object is in motion then it possess
kinetic energy. A well known scientist called Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, formulated another theory of
movement (flow) in view of kinetic energy and potential energy, which placed space as relative,
though Newton was altogether persuaded that space was outright. An imperative

When I Came To America
When I came to America from China at age 16, everyone around me appeared to be different.
However, I didn t just talk to my Chinese friends. I pushed myself outside of my bubble; I tried my
best to make friends with American students, while I still maintained good relationships with my
Chinese friends. America is very different from what I expected, everyone speaks so fast and unclear;
it almost made English a completely different language from what I had already learned. As I was
trying to make friends, I realized that Chinese culture had made me different from Americans; things
that I was curious about as a Chinese person were very private to American students. For example, in
America, people won t mention what their parents jobs are when they meet someone for the first time.

She thought I was really weird, well she still thinks I m weird but that is beside the point. At first we
spoke two different languages and shared completely different customs. Being the new kid from
another country, my conversations with her were tended to be short and awkward and we never had
much to talk about. I would laugh when she and her friends laughed, even if I didn t understand the
joke at all. I tried using slang as often as I could, even though I wasn t sure what any of it meant.
However, after an entire year of frustration and self motivation, I was finally making progress. I
picked up some more English and learned a lot about American culture and customs. Then I became
even more engaged, I joined the school tennis team and even became the only Chinese cheerleader in
our school. Slowly, I found out that Daniela and I share a lot in common: we both love reading, eating

Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends
Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends During the 1870s to 1930, California agriculture had
become a most diverse region of the United States. Its wheat, meat, and crop farming, such as grapes,
walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and plums became the California s major export
industry, as well as nation s leading producer. According to The Elusive Eden by Richard B. Rice,
William A. Bullough, and Richard J. Orsi, the number of farms in 1925 had grown to more than
136,400 farms, worth than $708 million. Besides the enormous development of the agriculture,
California had become the one of the best manufacturing and trading states in America. It dominated
the manufacturing industry and trading companies for aircraft factories, lumber factories, steel plants,
mining companies, petroleum companies and so on. According to Eric Foner in Give Me Liberty
volume 2, by 1945, California had received one tenth of all federal spending, and Los Angeles had
become the nation s second largest manufacturing center (863). Paralleled with the economic
development were numerous organizations found in California in order to control, regulate, and
support the commercial and trading activities, such as the California Fruit Growers Exchange, the
Representative Assembly of Trade and Labor Unions, the Coast Seamen s Association, the Federated
Iron Trade Council. Although the political reforms in the early 20th century could not address the most

A Report On The Taxi Industry
Introduction
The taxi industry is closely linked with people s life and it is seriously regulated in most cities in
Australia. This review examines an article that links cost of regulation to taxi industry in Sydney. The
article, The High Cost of Taxi Regulation, with Special Reference to Sydney, was written by Peter
Abelson, a part time economic advisor to the NSW Treasury. As the title of the article indicates, the
author found some papers that show the taxi industry in Sydney is over regulated under some
regulations, which are regulations of industry structure, quantity, services and prices. The cost of taxi
deregulation is lower than taxi regulation. The article shows a conclusion that the productive forces
and services revenue would be greater if other rules which restrict taxi services were canceled. The
NSW government does not make any changes because of insufficient understanding of the advantages
of market regulations. This review will summary the main points of Peter s paper first, then put
forward the personal view about the article and conclude with some suggestions.
Summary
This section contains a summary of the article The High Cost of Taxi Regulation, with Special
Reference to Sydney. In the paper, the author indicates the structure of the article in the introduction.
In addition, Peter describes the regulations of taxi industry in Sydney and analyzes the results. After

Hometown Morning By Thomas Kinkade
In 2000, Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light, created Hometown Morning, which is an oil painting
on canvas. This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints different scenes
from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in Placerville, California
that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the sidewalk and everyone and
everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last location of the painting was
at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of melancholic colors are shown as
it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street. However, the only vibrant color used
throughout the piece is a bright gold yellow to illuminate the insides of the homes through the
windows. Kinkade s use of complementary colors are visible throughout. Different shades of yellow
and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue on the street. There are more cold colors
than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and during the winter after it has rained. The
people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to
direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal
line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. The people in
the foreground are headed down the street leading the viewer s eyes head the same

Rhetorical Analysis Of Pearl Harbor Speech
Hours after Pearl Harbor was bombed by Japan, gaining worldwide headlines, giving millions
unanswered questions, the speech, Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation was given one day after the
event. On December 8th 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave a speech to be remembered
today, by using rhetorical devices and figurative language to strongly picture his message to the
public, making great use of parallel structure, personification, parallelism, and climax ordering to
enforce his key point of wanting Americans to stand up against the Japanese forces for the deliberate
actions done towards there peaceful country, with no threat or hint of war or of an armed attack. With
hopes of gathering support for the decision to declare war on Japan. Personification is commonly used
throughout the speech, Pearl Harbor Address, that was given to the nation by President D. Roosevelt.
First off, seen in the very beginning of the speech, a date which will live in infamy, is an effective use
of personification. Obviously a date can t live in infamy which makes it personification, he uses it to
draw more attention to the date. Later in the speech, Roosevelt says, The facts of yesterday and today
speak for themselves. Roosevelt uses personification here by saying that facts are speaking, allowing
them to further stand out. The first quote works by describing the day of tragedy to forever be
remembered as infamy, readers and listeners are more aware of the destruction done. Making it seem
like their is nothing that they can now do but go to war with Japan. The second quote works by
drawing attention to the facts, in hope of the facts angering the people in order to convince them to his
side. Later, throughout the speech Roosevelt effectively uses parallelism to try and get more people to
support him. To begin, towards the end of the speech Roosevelt states, There is no blinking at the fact
that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger. , Roosevelt starts the sentence with
a metaphor, but continues to use the phrase, our, saying, our people, our territory, and our interests,
creating attention for what he is about to say next, witch is what makes this quote parallelism. Lather

The Moral, Legal, and Economical Aspects of Capital...
Capital punishment has long been a topic for heated debate throughout the United States of America
and the civilized world. For many politicians, the death penalty has been a key pillar to winning a state
or election; and, to some extent, politics have been a key influence in America s justice system. Many
nations have outlawed capital punishment, with the United States included between 1972 and 1976. In
the United States, there has been a renewed movement for this eye for an eye method, citing such
arguments as deterrence and victims rights. This movement begs a single question is there any
economical, legal, or statistical support for the ultimate punishment? This article will strive to answer
that question by evaluating several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Georgia, one can easily make the statement that the taking of a human life in return for another does
not agree with the standards of decency of our maturing society. Justice Brennan goes further to state
that death is not only an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, in its finality... (Brennan
32). This argument is one of the major summarizing points of Brennan s argument the death penalty is
incredibly severe and irreversibly final. According to an article in the USA Today by columnist
Jacqueline Blais, 117 people have been freed from death row on account of innocence (Blais). This
figure is astonishing when one considers the innocents who slip through the cracks in states like
Texas, where the average death row inmate has just ten years to prove his or her innocence from
behind bars.
Opponents might argue that the death penalty provides closure to the victim s family. However, this
view makes an assumption about the U.S. Justice system that should never be made that the system is
about retribution and not about justice. Interestingly, in a survey conducted in a Kentucky college
classroom, only 43% of participants considered capital punishment to be about justice while 71% of
participants found justice to be the pursuit of the justice system as a whole (Coursey). How then does
one bridge the gap between the goals of the justice system and the goals of capital punishment? The
simplest answer to this question is that

Kanye West, Matisyahu and Lupe Fiasco
In 21st century North America, there is a strange, seemingly unanimous idea that, to fit the norm, one
must be white, Christian and male. While, over the course of the latter 20th century and in the past
decade, this has changed, the norm is very much still Christian and male; African Americans now fit
into the All American stereotype, for the most part. However, there are, of course, outliers deviants
from the standard norm; these outliers make one wonder what the norm truly is, why it is so, how did
it get to be that way, and what the norm will be in the future. Kanye West s 2004 single titled Jesus
Walks is written as a ode to Jesus helping him and every other Christian through hard times in their
life. Sampling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main theme of King Without a Crown is that, in order to truly worship God, people need to leave
their egos on the wayside and realize there is something better in life that can only be found with God.
While Jesus Walks was more of a persuasive song, attempting to turn atheists into Christians, this is
not seen in King Without a Crown. Matisyahu is only praising God; he says, without [God] there s no
me, you re the air that I breathe, for example. Matisyahu describes his relationship with God as one
that is like the relationship one has with food, for nourishment. He also says that he no longer has the
need for drugs, sinesemilla, for it would only bring [him] down. The most notable portion of the music
video is at the very end; Matisyahu is walking down a street and, as he turns around a corner, meets a
boy. Matisyahu touches the boy on the shoulder and, it is as though the boy has reached a sort of
enlightenment. This is symbolized by the immortalization of the boy s portrait on the high, wooden
fence behind them, which had previously shown a video of Matisyahu performing the song. Finally is
Lupe Fiasco s Muhammad Walks, which is a direct sample of Jesus Walks. Everything is the same
minus the lyrics, which are rapped by Lupe and is about Islam and its prophets comparable to Jesus
Walks, but from a Muslim perspective. The most notable aspect of the song is how Jesus

Murad IV made Pope Urban VII look like a pushover his punishment for breaking the ban was death.
King James I of England was no fan of tobacco either, so he picked up his pen. In 1604, James wrote
the treatise A Counterblaste to Tobacco, and he didn t pull any punches, writing, What honour or
policie can move us to imitate the barbarous and beastly maners of the wilde, godlesse, and slavish
Indians, especially in so vile and stinking a custom? (King James, 1604).
As the years progressed, smoking became more and more acceptable. Nazis aggressively tried to
suppress tobacco usage but their ban fell with them, as during World War II and the immediate
postwar years, smoking was actively promoted in most aspects of society. One only has to review the
movies of the 50s and 60s to see that in almost every scene the hero or the heroine is smoking a
cigarette. Even, King James s attacks on smoking over 3 centuries ago (Eckholm, 1977) have been
vindicated.
As a result of this, the tobacco companies and society have been very effective in promoting smoking
as being socially acceptable. This may seem all the more peculiar, given that most smokers believe
smoking is hazardous; indeed, even in 1968 (Horn, Note 1), 53% of smokers reported that they would
like to stop. That the antipathy does not necessarily depend on scientific data is evident from the
response of Solomon Islanders and Saharan Africans: Though uninformed of the evidence

Abstract
Al Qaeda is arguably the most well known and most dangerous Islamic terrorist organization in the
world. It was established around 1990 by a Saudi millionaire, Osama Bin Laden, to bring together
Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet invasion. The goal of the organization is to
reestablish the Muslim state throughout the world. Al Qaeda works with allied Islamic extremist
groups to overthrow regimes it deems non Islamic and remove Westerners from Muslin countries.
Groups affiliated with Al Qaeda have conducted numerous bombings and other violent attacks

These plots included the bombings of the African Embassies in 1998 and the September 11, 2001
attacks. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks against America, American led forces toppled the
Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Approximately half of the senior Al Qaeda leadership was captured
during the American led campaign, along with crippling the group s communication network. The
exact size of Al Qaeda is unknown, but the group likely has several thousand fighters. The estimated
numbers of people who trained in camps or fought in Afghanistan ranges from 20,000 to 60,000 but
these are not all Al Qaeda members. Al Qaeda serves as an umbrella organization that carries out its
own terrorist acts as well as a focal point for other extremist groups. Some experts believe that Al
Qaeda is an organization in transition. The losses of many of the group s leaders and their base in
Afghanistan have disrupted the organization. While Al Qaeda s definitive structure is unknown,
experts fear that the organization can continue to operate if they lose senior leaders due to the
entrepreneurial spirit in its lower level fighters. Al Qaeda is a network with global reach and is
reinforced by its ties to Sunni extremist networks. Until the American led attack, Afghanistan was
where Al Qaeda s base of operation, logistics, and training facilities were. Al Qaeda has since
branched out and has cells or collaborators found in south Asia, Southeast Asia, the

The use of online health records is increasing worldwide. Well, the explanation of these digital health
records sometimes get quite complex when we think of the users, healthcare setting, the health
information and certainly the technology. Three terminologies are commonly used to explain digital
health records Electronic health Records (EHR), Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Personal
Health Record (PHR). Regrettably, the definition of all these terminologies differs all over the world
and creates confusion, both inside and outside the health industry. So, in order to differentiate the three
terminologies, we have to understand the two aspects that could possibly separate the three
terminologies. First is the plenitude of the health information

Training is defined as learning that is provided in order to improve performance on the present job. A
person s performance is improved by showing her how to master a new or established technology. The
technology may be a piece of heavy machinery, a computer, a procedure for creating a product, or a

Literary Devices In Llake By William Blake
Jerusalem by William Blake, the title of this poem, references the city of Jerusalem. The holy land for
the Christian and Islamic religion. William Blake was religious during his lifetime (as it showed in
many of his poems) and it was said that he had visions of god and archangels in his childhood. So as
simple as the title may seem, it symbolizes the ideas that Blake had towards religion. Blake might also
talk about how England invaded Jerusalem, and it would depend on his viewpoint, if he thinks of it
positively, or something that goes against his beliefs. It could also be an ode to Jerusalem, as
previously mentioned, William Blake was very religious and this poem could demonstrate his
appreciation towards God.

Analysis Of The Two Fridas
Frida Kahlo s The Two Fridas is a manifestation of heartbreak, inner human pain, rejection of
colonialism, and emotional journey. An oil on canvas made in 1939 in the midst of Frida Kahlo s
divorce from Diego Rivera, this painting embodied Frida Kahlo s progression at this time in her life,
dealing with what she is and what she wishes to be; as well as setting out how she wishes to do it. An
ode to melancholy and overcoming adversity, The Two Fridas is a universal, eternal reminder of
human capability. The painting is of two versions of Frida Kahlo, closely gripping hands and sharing
one heart between them. They are dressed in contrary clothing, with the Frida on the left dressed in
modern European garb, while the other to the right is in traditional Mexican clothing. When viewing
the painting, we are immediately attracted to the left Frida, who has nearly all of the light in the
painting shining down on her. Her European clothing, popular in Mexico at the time, feels very
constricting for both the subject and the viewer, specifically the collar grasping her neck so very
tightly. Her upright and fragile stance and her almost limp grasp of the second Frida s is
understandable as we see the gaping hole where her heart should be. The pulsating anatomy of her
wound bleeds into the room, while her face is completely indifferent. A single vein connects the hole
in left Frida to the heart of right Frida. In left Frida s unclenched hand, a delicate pair of scissors,
indicating that she had wretched the heart out of her own bosom. It is this connection that guides us to
the Frida to the right, but not before we notice the background behind them. A gray and cloudy
backdrop that seems to embody Kahlo s emotional state at the time, it is hard to distinguish the right
Frida from its murky depths. A shadow presiding all around her, the right Frida is dressed in a
traditional Mexican dress, with a posture and facial expression completely identical to the other Frida
s. The most eye catching feature of hers, however, is the pulsating heart that the left Frida is lacking
beating out of her chest. This gruesome and oblivious picture is made only more extraordinary when
we make out the object right Frida is

Analysis Of The Movie Coming Of America With Arsenio...
Travel is another manner to learn about life away from usual life. Urry (1990) states that holidays,
tourism, and travel are consumed because they supposedly generate pleasurable experiences which are
different from those typically encountered in everyday life. The director John Landis demonstrates it
in his movie Coming to America with Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, and Eddie Murphy (Akeem) as
the principal character. Eddie Murphy is a young prince from one of the African Kingdom who wants
to experience something different in the United States from what he has been experiencing until his 21
year old birthday and before his get married. The purpose is also to his own and true love during this
journey. This prince desire follows the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The director of the movies, with this scene, supports Urry (1990) who said, The experiential,
experimental and the existence do not rely on the environmental bubble of conventional tourist
service. Indeed Murphy choice as a young African tourist is not conventional tourism.
Akeem is experiencing a new lifestyle by getting an apartment in a very dirty building and losing all
his items of luggage that were stolen by the poor people of the neighborhood. As he hears the
neighbors are making noises; he talks also louder to express his happiness and his viewpoint as his
neighbors in the building. He claims, I am a life, Descartes express this as, I think therefore I am. The
director paints here the difference between of life between his journey and in his kingdom where he
could not totally express himself in front of his father the king. I am a life. This phrase indicates also
that this journey is a way to find his own path as until now he is living under the rule of his royal
parent. Urry (1990) mentions that the desire of traveling as a need to restore the body and mind. To
continue to be himself, he cuts also the hair symbol of his royalty family. Bauer and McKercher

To understand the sliding filament theory, one should first look at the muscles. All movement through
the body is created and stopped by muscles. Muscles work in antagonistic pairs, that means that when
one muscle relaxes, it antagonistic pair will contract and vice versa. Muscle fibres are found in ...

The binding of ATP allows myosin to detach from actin. While detached, ATP hydrolysis occurs
recharging the myosin head, (Or resetting the myosin head) If the actin binding sites are still available,
myosin can bind actin again.
The collective bending of numerous myosin heads (all in the same direction), combine to move the
actin filament relative to the myosin filament. This results in muscle contraction in the upper arm.
In the presence of the biochemical adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the myosin and actin fibres would
slide past each other, effectively shortening the muscle. (Huxley).
Summary
Scientists have come a long way in the research relating to muscle contraction. In the past several
decades information has been added along the way and will certainly continue into the future. It is
fascinating to learn how the body moves. It relates to every one of us in every part of our day. As a
student I sit in amazement at the processes that are required in every small movement we can so easily
take for granted.

The Influence Of Henry V
Fifteenth century England was divided between the houses of Lancaster (Henry IV, Henry V and
Henry VI) and
York (Edward IV, Edward V and Richard III) The wars of the Roses, 1455 1485, divided loyalties.
Henry V reigned from 1413 1422 and had many wars against
France, in particular the Battle
Of Agincourt in 1415. Henry was very religious as he says in his battle speech that god thinks it is the
right thing to do and that god is using Henry as a messenger. A quote from the chorus in Act 2 states
that Henry is Following the mirror of all Christian kings. He is a Christian king and believes that god
controls chance. Therefore, everyone he rules has to be religious too.
Henry was confident that the economy would look after itself while he was away battling France.
Between 1417 and 1422 almost all the economic network of northern France was ruled by
Lancastrians but Henry could not fully draw on the economic resources because of the damage from
the war. Henry encouraged merchants to go to France to sell food to the starving population. When the

They Feed Lion
In poetry, one of the most powerful literary tools is the metaphor. It allows an author to add dimension
to the topic of their writing, in comparing their focus to something creative. This idea is true for Philip
Levine in his work, They Feed They Lion. The metaphor of a lion provides additional insight into
Levine s stance on the topic of his poem. In They Feed They Lion by Philip Levine, the use of a
metaphor of a lion is used to demonstrate the potential power a group of discriminated individuals can
have, once they allow all that has wronged them to motivate them to act. This metaphor is especially
topical due to its reflection of race issues that were pertinent during the time period when Levine
completed this poem. From one s first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, the pattern and frequency in which a lion roars. A lion roars only a few times a day; it is
not something that happens very often. Rising up and acting upon injustice is also something that is
infrequent. However, once both of these actions happen, they are difficult to ignore and not easily
forgotten. At some point, a lion must let out and roar, just as the discontent and mistreatment of a
group of people will eventually erupt into an uprising. Additionally, the anticipation of the roar can
garner a variety of different reactions, depending on the perspective of the person. These reactions are
often border lining on both fear and excitement. Similarly, these reactions are also common when
groups of people or individuals act upon their feelings of unrest. This is evident in the tone of the
poem. The quick and separated rhythm adds an underlying feeling of tension and anxiety as the reader
waits for They Lion to do more than grow. Also the idea that Levine refers to a lion as they lion,
referring to it as plural, indicates that the lion is representative of a group of individuals. A group of
individuals which looking at this poem through a historical context, can be identified as African
Americans who participated in race riots in detroit during the

Wordsworthian terrain that details his reconciliation between past and present and implications of the

His desire to mend his ways was brought about Through no disturbance of my soul,/ Or strong
compunction in me wroughtŠ/ But in the quietness of thought (33 4, 36). The poem s devotion to an
abstract concept exemplifies the willful internality of the poet s decision. This internality leads the
poet to supplicate for thy control, an act that shifts the poem into the religious territory of reverence.
Indeed, Wordsworth subtly raises his travel conceit from the earth to the heavens. In the quietness of
thought, a time that is often reserved for prayer, he decides that Me this unchartered freedom tires;/ I
feel the weight of chance desires (37 8). The unmapped liberalism of random urges weighs him down
and bounds him to the earth; the austere and personified guardian of duty, on the other hand, steps
lightly between the earth and the sky: Nor know we anything so fair/ As is the smile upon thy face;/
Flowers laugh before thee on their beds/ And fragrance in thy footing treads;/ Thou dost preserve the
stars from wrong;/ And the most ancient heavens, through Thee, are fresh and strong (43 8). The
craving for a repose that ever is the same, a constancy that may, in the future, hold for him a blissful
course, is made salient in the comparison to stars, long regarded as shapers of destiny (40, 21). The
repose here means sleep, whereas in the fourth stanza reposed my trust means

Psychoanalytic Analysis of Shakespeare s Hamlet
If one wants to truly understand the psychological implications of William Shakespeare s Hamlet, the
primary focus should be on the character Hamlet, and how he develops and modifies throughout the
play. Using the fundamentals of the psychoanalytic perspective of critical evaluation, one would be
able to truly identify and explore the true nature of Hamlet, and the effects that his character has on the
situation surrounding him. In order to gain a true understanding of most of the detail that is implied
through Hamlet s way of portraying himself to others, it is vital to look deep into the actions that are
carried out, and analyze them psychoanalytically. Many have already written works that evaluate the
play using this method, and one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the appearance of the ghost the reader is, whether they realize it or not, being challenged to take
a position on Hamlet s state of mind. At first the reader may take it at face value assuming that a ghost
is a ghost and should be accepted as such. But after a deeper look using the psychoanalytic perspective
of critical evaluation, it becomes believable that the ghost is just a trick of Hamlet s mind used to
justify his urges to avenge his father s death, a sort of madness. It is hard to decide what to think about
Shakespeare s introduction of the ghost because of the two different ways he portrays it. Hamlet is not
the first one to see the ghost, Marcellus and Bernardo were. The next night it appeared to Horatio as
well. It was only after its first two appearances that Hamlet got a chance to see the ghost. At this point
the reader doesn t have much of a choice but to take the ghost at face value. If several characters saw
the ghost there must really be a ghost. It s not until Hamlet s second encounter with the ghost that the
reader is asked to decide whether they buy into the idea of the ghost being real. After Hamlet kills
Polonius, he has a conversation with his mother during which the ghost appears to Hamlet, but this

Physically, Libby Strout has not changed very much. She is still the heavier high schooled girl who

For the betterment of the country. Besides the debate who government shall be run by, they also had
different opinions on what type of laws should be set in place, loose or strict construction. Loose
construction allows the government to stretch or change the constitution, as long as it benefits the
common good of the people. While strict construction, makes the government follow the exact laws
set in place by the constitution. Hamilton had the better vision with the idea of loose construction
because the government changes throughout time, the needs of the people changes, so the constitution
would be have to be amended and stretched to fit those needs. Another debate between Jefferson and
Hamilton was whether or not the Bill of Rights was needed before the government was formed. While
Hamilton said that the Bill of Rights was unnecessary to have before the government was formed,
Jefferson had the better opinion. The Bill of Rights gave the people and states rights, before a
government is formed the people in the country and the government should know what rights the
states and citizens have, so there will be no law that contrasts to the rights of the people. The United

Prostitution Laws On Judeo Christian Morality
Western countries like the United States base many of their prostitution laws on Judeo Christian
morality, which discourages the act of selling sex due to the belief that sex is sacred in creating life,
however many theorists disagree due to its singular concern. With Fondation Scelles reporting that
80% of prostitutes in the world are women aged between 13 and 25, and the political inclusion of the
right to an individual s personal liberty, the debate of prostitution serves to be a pluralized issue in
consideration of feminist and libertarian perspectives. Discussions of the pluralism in the prostitution
debate is evident in Canada, with the Supreme Court ruling that it is no longer illegal to sell sex,
however it is a crime to buy sex, in an effort to protect the women who are being exploited into sex
trafficking. Despite the government s contributions to remove the stigma of sex workers, rather than
more criminal roles like pimps, the morally problematic exploitation of women in sex trafficking
continues to exist. Therefore, the government has an ethical responsibility to legalize and control the
sex trade based on its application to consequentialist concerns with health and safety, libertarian views
on personal autonomy and female entitlement and empowerment, and its comparison to the legal
pornography industry. The morality of prostitution has been debated due to its existence in nearly all
cultures in history, therefore the major positions need to be discussed.

One of a few reasons that having a choice can cause issues is the age of consent, the age of consent
varies from state to state, many schools and places of education don t offer education on sexual health

mother of the baby can cause problems if an individual has decided to be sexually active that should
mean that they have come to terms with potential consequences such as potential pregnancy and std s,
but since many teenagers are uneducated they don t know exactly what could happen, Say a teenage

Pyramus And Thisbe Vs. Romeo And Juliet

CAMS 045 Final Paper/Final Draft

Pyramus Thisbe vs. Romeo Juliet
Tragic love stories have always been appealing to the literary world. This would be seen in Ovid s
Pyramus and Thisbe and William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet . Ovid, one of Rome s greatest
poets, was famous for The Metamorphoses. His love stories were deeply emotional, yet very tragic.
The story of Pyramus and Thisbe is the most emotional story in The Metamorphoses and the most
referenced in love tragedy. William Shakespeare s best plays were his tragedies, starting with Hamlet
all the way through to Macbeth. No one knows exactly which source Shakespeare directly drew from
to create the well known tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet , but it s pretty clear that somewhere along
the way there was some major influence from Pyramus and Thisbe. Both stories, although written in
different era share one key theme: love and tragedy. We fall in love and when once we do something
rare and beautiful is created. Unfortunately not all love stories have happy endings. The lesson learned

Tomb Of The Unknowns Research Paper
The Tomb of the Unknowns one of the most honored places in our country. It s the cemetery for any
soldier who tragically passed during duty. At this cemetery there is a ceremony that is one of the
greatest honors for anyone to do. I feel that I should be selected to be a representative for Olentangy
Berkshire Middle School at the Tomb of the Unknowns. This would be a great honor for me because
of my family, future and respect for the military. The first reason why I think that I should be selected
to do this honor is because of my family history. In my family, there is a line of people who were in
the military: 2 grandfathers, great uncles, a great great great grandfather, 2nd cousins and a cousin

respect for the military. They are the strongest and bravest this country will ever see. ... Show more

shocking thing that I discovered was that people would not say that they did it for personal gain but
for the people. It shows the dedication that they have to this country, and it is

  • 2. Malrotation Of The Gut Case Study Volvulus (Malrotation of the Gut) A malrotation of the gut occurs when something goes wrong during development the small intestine (gut or small bowel). When this occurs, the small intestine is not fixed in the abdomen (belly). The intestines are held by just their blood supply. When the intestines become twisted, because they are not fastened down, it cuts off their blood supply. It is much like a hose getting kinked. This loss of blood supply leads to damage to the gut. This condition is also called volvulus. SYMPTOMS Most often this abnormality shows up during the first month of life. Sometimes it may not produce symptoms until adulthood. Usually the abdomen becomes distended and there is vomiting of bilious material. This is greenish or bile stained vomitus. There is usually cramping and intermittent abdominal pain. DIAGNOSIS ... Contrast material is something given to the baby by mouth that shows the inside of the stomach and small bowel better. This X ray shows an abnormal position of the first part of the small bowel located where the small bowel first leaves the stomach. TREATMENT A volvulus is a surgical emergency. The appendix will be removed. If the child were to have an appendicitis the diagnosis would be dangerously delayed because of the abnormal position. After the operation, it is extremely unlikely the bowel will rotate again. The body has internal scarring called adhesions that hold things in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Most Important Fuel Of The World Is Energy Essay The most important fuel in the world is energy. Energy is the capability to do work or the power which can make changes in matter. We can use it in different ways in everyday life such as transportation, entertainment, communication, personal comfort, agriculture and manufacturing. The world will come to a standstill without energy. The best thing about energy is it can neither be created nor be destroyed it just changes from one form of matter into another form.1 We can obtain energy in a useful form by a system called Energy Harnessing Network. In this complicated system we extract raw energy in the form of heat energy, light energy, solar energy etc and then transformed it into fuel for example coal, natural gas, petroleum and electrical energy then stored it and use when needed. The engineers did a lot of work on it and successfully did what was think impossible in the earlier time. They harnessed energy in many different forms such as hydropower, solar power, wind mills and nuclear power etc. There are two main types of energy that is kinetic energy and potential energy. If the object is at rest then the energy it possess is called potential energy and if the object is in motion then it possess kinetic energy. • 5. When I Came To America When I came to America from China at age 16, everyone around me appeared to be different. However, I didn t just talk to my Chinese friends. I pushed myself outside of my bubble; I tried my best to make friends with American students, while I still maintained good relationships with my Chinese friends. America is very different from what I expected, everyone speaks so fast and unclear; it almost made English a completely different language from what I had already learned. • 6. Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends During the 1870s to 1930, California agriculture had become a most diverse region of the United States. Its wheat, meat, and crop farming, such as grapes, walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and plums became the California s major export industry, as well as nation s leading producer. According to The Elusive Eden by Richard B. Rice, William A. Bullough, and Richard J. Orsi, the number of farms in 1925 had grown to more than 136,400 farms, worth than $708 million. Besides the enormous development of the agriculture, California had become the one of the best manufacturing and trading states in America. It dominated the manufacturing industry and trading companies for aircraft factories, lumber factories, steel plants, mining companies, petroleum companies and so on. According to Eric Foner in Give Me Liberty volume 2, by 1945, California had received one tenth of all federal spending, and Los Angeles had become the nation s second largest manufacturing center (863). Paralleled with the economic development were numerous organizations found in California in order to control, regulate, and support the commercial and trading activities, such as the California Fruit Growers Exchange, the Representative Assembly of Trade and Labor Unions, the Coast Seamen s Association, the Federated Iron Trade Council. • 7. A Report On The Taxi Industry Introduction The taxi industry is closely linked with people s life and it is seriously regulated in most cities in Australia. This review examines an article that links cost of regulation to taxi industry in Sydney. The article, The High Cost of Taxi Regulation, with Special Reference to Sydney, was written by Peter Abelson, a part time economic advisor to the NSW Treasury. As the title of the article indicates, the author found some papers that show the taxi industry in Sydney is over regulated under some regulations, which are regulations of industry structure, quantity, services and prices. The cost of taxi deregulation is lower than taxi regulation. The article shows a conclusion that the productive forces and services revenue would be greater if other rules which restrict taxi services were canceled. The NSW government does not make any changes because of insufficient understanding of the advantages of market regulations. This review will summary the main points of Peter s paper first, then put forward the personal view about the article and conclude with some suggestions. Summary This section contains a summary of the article The High Cost of Taxi Regulation, with Special Reference to Sydney. In the paper, the author indicates the structure of the article in the introduction. In addition, Peter describes the regulations of taxi industry in Sydney and analyzes the results. • 8. Hometown Morning By Thomas Kinkade In 2000, Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light, created Hometown Morning, which is an oil painting on canvas. This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints different scenes from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in Placerville, California that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the sidewalk and everyone and everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last location of the painting was at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of melancholic colors are shown as it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street. However, the only vibrant color used throughout the piece is a bright gold yellow to illuminate the insides of the homes through the windows. Kinkade s use of complementary colors are visible throughout. Different shades of yellow and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue on the street. There are more cold colors than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and during the winter after it has rained. The people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. The people in the foreground are headed down the street leading the viewer s eyes head the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Pearl Harbor Speech Hours after Pearl Harbor was bombed by Japan, gaining worldwide headlines, giving millions unanswered questions, the speech, Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation was given one day after the event. On December 8th 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave a speech to be remembered today, by using rhetorical devices and figurative language to strongly picture his message to the public, making great use of parallel structure, personification, parallelism, and climax ordering to enforce his key point of wanting Americans to stand up against the Japanese forces for the deliberate actions done towards there peaceful country, with no threat or hint of war or of an armed attack. With hopes of gathering support for the decision to declare war on Japan. Personification is commonly used throughout the speech, Pearl Harbor Address, that was given to the nation by President D. Roosevelt. First off, seen in the very beginning of the speech, a date which will live in infamy, is an effective use of personification. Obviously a date can t live in infamy which makes it personification, he uses it to draw more attention to the date. Later in the speech, Roosevelt says, The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. Roosevelt uses personification here by saying that facts are speaking, allowing them to further stand out. The first quote works by describing the day of tragedy to forever be remembered as infamy, readers and listeners are more aware of the destruction done. Making it seem like their is nothing that they can now do but go to war with Japan. The second quote works by drawing attention to the facts, in hope of the facts angering the people in order to convince them to his side. Later, throughout the speech Roosevelt effectively uses parallelism to try and get more people to support him. To begin, towards the end of the speech Roosevelt states, There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger. , Roosevelt starts the sentence with a metaphor, but continues to use the phrase, our, saying, our people, our territory, and our interests, creating attention for what he is about to say next, witch is what makes this quote parallelism. • 10. The Moral, Legal, and Economical Aspects of Capital... Capital punishment has long been a topic for heated debate throughout the United States of America and the civilized world. For many politicians, the death penalty has been a key pillar to winning a state or election; and, to some extent, politics have been a key influence in America s justice system. Many nations have outlawed capital punishment, with the United States included between 1972 and 1976. In the United States, there has been a renewed movement for this eye for an eye method, citing such arguments as deterrence and victims rights. This movement begs a single question is there any economical, legal, or statistical support for the ultimate punishment? This article will strive to answer that question by evaluating several ... Justice Brennan goes further to state that death is not only an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, in its finality... (Brennan 32). This argument is one of the major summarizing points of Brennan s argument the death penalty is incredibly severe and irreversibly final. According to an article in the USA Today by columnist Jacqueline Blais, 117 people have been freed from death row on account of innocence (Blais). This figure is astonishing when one considers the innocents who slip through the cracks in states like Texas, where the average death row inmate has just ten years to prove his or her innocence from behind bars. Opponents might argue that the death penalty provides closure to the victim s family. However, this view makes an assumption about the U.S. Justice system that should never be made that the system is about retribution and not about justice. Interestingly, in a survey conducted in a Kentucky college classroom, only 43% of participants considered capital punishment to be about justice while 71% of participants found justice to be the pursuit of the justice system as a whole (Coursey). How then does one bridge the gap between the goals of the justice system and the goals of capital punishment? The simplest answer to this question is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While, over the course of the latter 20th century and in the past decade, this has changed, the norm is very much still Christian and male; African Americans now fit into the All American stereotype, for the most part. However, there are, of course, outliers deviants from the standard norm; these outliers make one wonder what the norm truly is, why it is so, how did it get to be that way, and what the norm will be in the future. The main theme of King Without a Crown is that, in order to truly worship God, people need to leave their egos on the wayside and realize there is something better in life that can only be found with God. While Jesus Walks was more of a persuasive song, attempting to turn atheists into Christians, this is not seen in King Without a Crown. Matisyahu is only praising God; he says, without [God] there s no me, you re the air that I breathe, for example. Matisyahu describes his relationship with God as one that is like the relationship one has with food, for nourishment. He also says that he no longer has the need for drugs, sinesemilla, for it would only bring [him] down. The most notable portion of the music video is at the very end; Matisyahu is walking down a street and, as he turns around a corner, meets a boy. Matisyahu touches the boy on the shoulder and, it is as though the boy has reached a sort of enlightenment. This is symbolized by the immortalization of the boy s portrait on the high, wooden fence behind them, which had previously shown a video of Matisyahu performing the song. Finally is Lupe Fiasco s Muhammad Walks, which is a direct sample of Jesus Walks. Everything is the same minus the lyrics, which are rapped by Lupe and is about Islam and its prophets comparable to Jesus Walks, but from a Muslim perspective. King James I of England was no fan of tobacco either, so he picked up his pen. In 1604, James wrote the treatise A Counterblaste to Tobacco, and he didn t pull any punches, writing, What honour or policie can move us to imitate the barbarous and beastly maners of the wilde, godlesse, and slavish Indians, especially in so vile and stinking a custom? (King James, 1604). As the years progressed, smoking became more and more acceptable. Nazis aggressively tried to suppress tobacco usage but their ban fell with them, as during World War II and the immediate postwar years, smoking was actively promoted in most aspects of society. One only has to review the movies of the 50s and 60s to see that in almost every scene the hero or the heroine is smoking a cigarette. Even, King James s attacks on smoking over 3 centuries ago (Eckholm, 1977) have been vindicated. As a result of this, the tobacco companies and society have been very effective in promoting smoking as being socially acceptable. This may seem all the more peculiar, given that most smokers believe smoking is hazardous; indeed, even in 1968 (Horn, Note 1), 53% of smokers reported that they would like to stop. • 20. Analysis Of The Two Fridas Frida Kahlo s The Two Fridas is a manifestation of heartbreak, inner human pain, rejection of colonialism, and emotional journey. An oil on canvas made in 1939 in the midst of Frida Kahlo s divorce from Diego Rivera, this painting embodied Frida Kahlo s progression at this time in her life, dealing with what she is and what she wishes to be; as well as setting out how she wishes to do it. An ode to melancholy and overcoming adversity, The Two Fridas is a universal, eternal reminder of human capability. The painting is of two versions of Frida Kahlo, closely gripping hands and sharing one heart between them. They are dressed in contrary clothing, with the Frida on the left dressed in modern European garb, while the other to the right is in traditional Mexican clothing. When viewing the painting, we are immediately attracted to the left Frida, who has nearly all of the light in the painting shining down on her. Her European clothing, popular in Mexico at the time, feels very constricting for both the subject and the viewer, specifically the collar grasping her neck so very tightly. Her upright and fragile stance and her almost limp grasp of the second Frida s is understandable as we see the gaping hole where her heart should be. The pulsating anatomy of her wound bleeds into the room, while her face is completely indifferent. A single vein connects the hole in left Frida to the heart of right Frida. In left Frida s unclenched hand, a delicate pair of scissors, indicating that she had wretched the heart out of her own bosom. It is this connection that guides us to the Frida to the right, but not before we notice the background behind them. A gray and cloudy backdrop that seems to embody Kahlo s emotional state at the time, it is hard to distinguish the right Frida from its murky depths. A shadow presiding all around her, the right Frida is dressed in a traditional Mexican dress, with a posture and facial expression completely identical to the other Frida s. The most eye catching feature of hers, however, is the pulsating heart that the left Frida is lacking beating out of her chest. The Influence Of Henry V Fifteenth century England was divided between the houses of Lancaster (Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI) and York (Edward IV, Edward V and Richard III) The wars of the Roses, 1455 1485, divided loyalties. Henry V reigned from 1413 1422 and had many wars against France, in particular the Battle Of Agincourt in 1415. Henry was very religious as he says in his battle speech that god thinks it is the right thing to do and that god is using Henry as a messenger. A quote from the chorus in Act 2 states that Henry is Following the mirror of all Christian kings. He is a Christian king and believes that god controls chance. Therefore, everyone he rules has to be religious too. Henry was confident that the economy would look after itself while he was away battling France. Between 1417 and 1422 almost all the economic network of northern France was ruled by Lancastrians but Henry could not fully draw on the economic resources because of the damage from the war. • 30. They Feed Lion In poetry, one of the most powerful literary tools is the metaphor. It allows an author to add dimension to the topic of their writing, in comparing their focus to something creative. This idea is true for Philip Levine in his work, They Feed They Lion. The metaphor of a lion provides additional insight into Levine s stance on the topic of his poem. In They Feed They Lion by Philip Levine, the use of a metaphor of a lion is used to demonstrate the potential power a group of discriminated individuals can have, once they allow all that has wronged them to motivate them to act. This metaphor is especially topical due to its reflection of race issues that were pertinent during the time period when Levine completed this poem. From one s first ... Rising up and acting upon injustice is also something that is infrequent. However, once both of these actions happen, they are difficult to ignore and not easily forgotten. At some point, a lion must let out and roar, just as the discontent and mistreatment of a group of people will eventually erupt into an uprising. Additionally, the anticipation of the roar can garner a variety of different reactions, depending on the perspective of the person. These reactions are often border lining on both fear and excitement. Similarly, these reactions are also common when groups of people or individuals act upon their feelings of unrest. This is evident in the tone of the poem. The quick and separated rhythm adds an underlying feeling of tension and anxiety as the reader waits for They Lion to do more than grow. Also the idea that Levine refers to a lion as they lion, referring to it as plural, indicates that the lion is representative of a group of individuals. Though vastly different stylistically‹ Ode to Duty utilizes an antiquated verse form and language, while Elegiac Stanzas is written in Wordsworth s beloved language of men ‹and in the internal willfulness on the poet s part to change versus reaction to external stimuli, the poems parallel in their desires for resolution of a disarrayed soul via the calming sublime power of either an ... His desire to mend his ways was brought about Through no disturbance of my soul,/ Or strong compunction in me wroughtŠ/ But in the quietness of thought (33 4, 36). The poem s devotion to an abstract concept exemplifies the willful internality of the poet s decision. This internality leads the poet to supplicate for thy control, an act that shifts the poem into the religious territory of reverence. Indeed, Wordsworth subtly raises his travel conceit from the earth to the heavens. In the quietness of thought, a time that is often reserved for prayer, he decides that Me this unchartered freedom tires;/ I feel the weight of chance desires (37 8). The unmapped liberalism of random urges weighs him down and bounds him to the earth; the austere and personified guardian of duty, on the other hand, steps lightly between the earth and the sky: Nor know we anything so fair/ As is the smile upon thy face;/ Flowers laugh before thee on their beds/ And fragrance in thy footing treads;/ Thou dost preserve the stars from wrong;/ And the most ancient heavens, through Thee, are fresh and strong (43 8). The craving for a repose that ever is the same, a constancy that may, in the future, hold for him a blissful course, is made salient in the comparison to stars, long regarded as shapers of destiny (40, 21). It is hard to decide what to think about Shakespeare s introduction of the ghost because of the two different ways he portrays it. Loose construction allows the government to stretch or change the constitution, as long as it benefits the common good of the people. While strict construction, makes the government follow the exact laws set in place by the constitution. Hamilton had the better vision with the idea of loose construction because the government changes throughout time, the needs of the people changes, so the constitution would be have to be amended and stretched to fit those needs. Another debate between Jefferson and Hamilton was whether or not the Bill of Rights was needed before the government was formed. While Hamilton said that the Bill of Rights was unnecessary to have before the government was formed, Jefferson had the better opinion. • 38. Prostitution Laws On Judeo Christian Morality Western countries like the United States base many of their prostitution laws on Judeo Christian morality, which discourages the act of selling sex due to the belief that sex is sacred in creating life, however many theorists disagree due to its singular concern. With Fondation Scelles reporting that 80% of prostitutes in the world are women aged between 13 and 25, and the political inclusion of the right to an individual s personal liberty, the debate of prostitution serves to be a pluralized issue in consideration of feminist and libertarian perspectives. Discussions of the pluralism in the prostitution debate is evident in Canada, with the Supreme Court ruling that it is no longer illegal to sell sex, however it is a crime to buy sex, in an effort to protect the women who are being exploited into sex trafficking. Despite the government s contributions to remove the stigma of sex workers, rather than more criminal roles like pimps, the morally problematic exploitation of women in sex trafficking continues to exist. Therefore, the government has an ethical responsibility to legalize and control the sex trade based on its application to consequentialist concerns with health and safety, libertarian views on personal autonomy and female entitlement and empowerment, and its comparison to the legal pornography industry. The morality of prostitution has been debated due to its existence in nearly all cultures in history, therefore the major positions need to be discussed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romeo And Juliet Kevin Lord Josue Prof. Elizabeth Fogle CAMS 045 Final Paper/Final Draft August 15, 2014 Pyramus Thisbe vs. Romeo Juliet Tragic love stories have always been appealing to the literary world. This would be seen in Ovid s Pyramus and Thisbe and William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet . Ovid, one of Rome s greatest poets, was famous for The Metamorphoses. His love stories were deeply emotional, yet very tragic. The story of Pyramus and Thisbe is the most emotional story in The Metamorphoses and the most referenced in love tragedy. William Shakespeare s best plays were his tragedies, starting with Hamlet all the way through to Macbeth. No one knows exactly which source Shakespeare directly drew from to create the well known tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet , but it s pretty clear that somewhere along the way there was some major influence from Pyramus and Thisbe. Both stories, although written in different era share one key theme: love and tragedy. We fall in love and when once we do something rare and beautiful is created. Unfortunately not all love stories have happy endings. The lesson learned in both Pyramus and Thisbe and Romeo and Juliet stories will be the focus of this essay.
