How To Prevent Pollution Essay
Crafting an essay on the prevention of pollution is undeniably a challenging task that demands a
careful blend of scientific knowledge, environmental awareness, and persuasive writing skills.
The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of pollution itself – an intricate web of
various pollutants, sources, and impacts on both the environment and human health.
To start, one must delve into the extensive realm of environmental science to understand the
different types of pollution – air, water, soil, and noise pollution. Each type requires a unique
set of prevention strategies, and comprehending the scientific intricacies is a prerequisite for
providing informed solutions. Additionally, the writer needs to explore the anthropogenic causes
behind pollution, encompassing industrial activities, improper waste disposal, deforestation, and
vehicular emissions, among others.
Environmental policies and regulations become pivotal points of discussion, adding another layer
of complexity. Addressing the effectiveness, loopholes, and potential improvements in existing
policies requires a thorough analysis, often involving research into governmental and non-
governmental initiatives. Furthermore, the essay must consider the socio-economic factors
influencing pollution prevention measures, as solutions must be both ecologically sound and
socially feasible.
Beyond the scientific and policy dimensions, the writer must skillfully weave in persuasive
elements. This involves elucidating the urgency of pollution prevention, creating a compelling
narrative that resonates with the readers' values, and motivating them to embrace sustainable
practices. Balancing the technical aspects with a human touch is crucial to ensure that the essay is
not only informative but also engaging and relatable.
In conclusion, writing an essay on preventing pollution is akin to navigating through a maze of
scientific principles, policy intricacies, and persuasive techniques. It requires a comprehensive
understanding of environmental science, a critical analysis of policies, and the ability to
communicate complex ideas effectively. However, despite the challenges, the ultimate goal is to
inspire positive change and advocate for a cleaner, healthier planet.

Recycling Waste Of Recycling
Although recycling of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) based plastics decrease the
amount of these polymers that end up in municipal waste, the cost of recycling
these plastics for the producer are an important factor to weigh in to whether they
should be recycled or not. PVC is a soft and flexible plastic used to make clear plastic
food wrapping, computer cables, and even pipes and parts for plumbing. Because
PVC contains numerous toxins, food products using PVC require virgin material for
their construction. In general, there are two types of PVC recyclingprocesses,
mechanical and feedstock, which include their own respect costs, purposes, and
benefits. Although there are a large number of costs for the producer for recycling
PVC from the toxicity to the inefficacy of its recycling process, there are many
benefits that include reducing the amount of PVC in municipal waste and its
usefulness as a recycled product. In general, virgin PVC itself is already relatively
toxic as its main component is vinyl chloride, which is a carcinogen. Once PVC is
recycled once, its chemical properties deteriorate, and its toxicity becomes more
harmful, meaning its usefulness as a food container product no longer exist.
Therefore, recycled PVC cannot be used to its previous full potential lead companies
to think whether it is worth it to recycle this polymer. Although recycled polymers are
cheaper to produce, their quality decreases due to contamination with each recycling

Comparing MusГ©e des Beaux Arts and Life Cycle of Common Man
MusГ©e des Beaux Arts and Life Cycle of Common Man share a common theme,
though the imagery they use to express it is quite different. Both poems have the
theme of life goes on or life stops for no one. The difference in imagery is the
difference between the general and the specific. I believe that the theme of both
poems lies in the same vein, but they take different paths to its development. Auden
speaks more about society in general; then, he gives an interpretation of a painting as
an example. On the other hand, Nemerov expresses the theme through the life cycle
of one man, but is this one man everyman? The they of Auden s poem?

This really is not the case because they are both part of the same essential
experience. The only difference is the distance they have traveled down life s path.
While the aged are reverently, passionately waiting / For the miraculous birth . . . the
children go on about their play, thinking of all the days ahead while the aged sit
waiting and thinking about all the days behind. The only difference between the aged
and the children at this point in life is their perspective.
Instead of continuing on about the subtle differences in life, Auden goes back to
how life goes on everywhere no matter what. He moves out of the realm of people
and into the ambiguous areas of there and the world of animals: Anyhow in a
corner, some untidy spot / Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the
torturer s horse / Scratches its innocent behind on a tree. He is stating that no matter
what is happening around you somewhere in the world life is going on regardless of
events good or bad. This human experience that we are all in is an all encompassing
event that will continue along its ineffable course until its conclusion.
Auden then makes a shift from the general to the very specific by using Brueghel s
Icarus as an example of his point. He describes the painting very well‹even if
you have never seen it, you could understand what is happening in the

Priestley s character s usually represent social attitudes and political views
(Nightingale). How does Priestley convey his beliefs through the Inspector and
Birling family? Priestley conveys his beliefs through the Inspector and the Birling
family in various ways. Priestly believed in ?social conscience? that we are all
responsible for each other. Priestly never believed in the class system as he thought
it was very unjust and divided everyone, especially poorer people, in a poorer way.
Priestly?s view is shown through the Inspector in a rather convincing way which
makes the audience think like an inspector. The inspector is the voice of reason,
justice and socialism. In the play Birling believes in the ?Survival of the fittest?...

believes he is going to get a knighthood, ?I might find my way into the next honours

to his knighthood which shows that it is not a big thing for a man like him to get.
Birling is worried when the inspector leaves in case anybody finds out what
happened and is also worried about the knighthood. Again, this shows us he is
worried about his ?social status? because he believes that life begins and ends with
it ? believes his future is going to be a comfortable world. Birling also is very
uncaring and unsympathetic towards Eva. ?she?d had a lot to say far too much
so she had to go? This could indicate that Birling was sexist and makes us consider
whether he would do the same to a male worker. It also reveals Birling?s self
centeredness and how cold hearted he is. He does not care about the social classes
below him and believes they have no right to ask for anything. If this was Birling?s
?political world? he would try to impress the community to receive the knighthood
but he cant give the people who put him in that position a few shillings more. He
also does not seem to care that Eva Smith has lost her life, we learn this through the
tone of his voice and dismissive language when he speaks. He shows no interest or
any sympathy. On numerous
America s First Home Grown Terrorist
John Brown: America s First Home Grown Terrorist
John Brown, recalled by some as a martyr for his anti slavery stance, is also
recalled by others as a madman. His legendary raid on Harper s Ferry will live
forever in history books, but what fueled the madness? In 1812, was his mind so
deeply traumatized when he witnessed the brutal crime of a young black boy
beaten with a shovel that he could never move past it? Did that single event shape
his life and play, over and over, in his mind like a never ending film? No matter what
you believe, the undisputed fact is that he was one of America s first domestic
terrorists.

Socialism is defined as a social and economic system characterised by social
ownership and democratic control of the means of production. Socialism can also be
a political theory which establishes this system and brings it to life. (Socialism) When
examining Article XXVIII, it clearly defines socialism when it is written that
property shall be for the whole. It also removes the safety that the Fourth Amendment
in the Constitution provides, which is the Search and Seizure amendment. The

Bobbie Ann Mason In Country Essay
The Vietnam War divided the country and led to several americans searching for not
only their identity and morals, but the morals of the nation as a whole. Many people
questioned what good the fighting was for and saw more and more news coverage
about the horrible failures of the War leading to a mistrust in the U.S. government. In
Bobbie Ann Mason s book, In Country: The Story of an American Family, Bobbie
Ann Mason tells a coming of age story about Samantha Hughes who searches for
understanding and meaning in a War that has affected her family and country greatly.
Using dialogue and plot construction, Mason successfully examines the changes in
morality towards violence and war.

very close and Sam spends time around some more time with some of Emmett s
friends that are also vets. The story follows Sam as she searches for more detailed
information about what exactly Vietnam was like, meanwhile trying to find out
more about her father in the process. Not only is this a coming of age story, but
also one of a loss of innocence. Sam ultimately discovers that the war was viewed in
different ways and had differing effects in the soldiers morals.
One of the key literary elements that Bobbie Ann Mason uses to get across the
meaning of the book is her use of dialogue. Throughout In Country, Mason uses
dialogue between two characters to express their feelings and experiences. In part II

INTRODUCTION:
Tata Motors announced in 2006, that the Nano would be manufactured in Singur,
West Bengal, helped in part by a forced acquisition and reuse of farmland by the West

Modern Man In Search Of A Soul by C.G. Jung
In his book, Modern Man In Search Of A Soul, C.G. Jung gives a layperson insight
into his ideas on dream analysis. Jung s primary objective in this book is to educate
the reader as to what a psychoanalyst does when analyzing a patient s dreams. The
principal message in the section of the book centered on dream analysis is that dreams
should never stand alone. Dreams are meaningless in a vacuum, but on the other hand
when put against a strict set of rules, they are oftentimes misunderstood. The
unconscious is a fluid entity and cannot be handled either in isolation or with a static
set of guidelines. Dreams are reflections of the unconscious and can represent many
different things inside of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her dreams would be more and more open with different therapists until she reached
Jung and her initial dreams embraced him and they subsequently had a productive
analysis. The cause of this patient s neurosis came to light later, but was in no way
present in her initial dreams. Dreams can often be anticipatory and are misleading if
looked at in merely causalistic ways.
When a doctor understands a patient completely and the patient seems to have no
understanding of himself, an analyst will frequently accuse the patient of resistance. It
is recommended that if an analyst holds all of the understanding, then he should
stress where he lacks understanding of the patient. Even if an analyst comes to a
sound conclusion of the meaning of a dream, but the patient is reluctant to agree, the
therapist should not push this understanding on the patient. In this case the analyst
should work with the patient to come to a mutually gratifying conclusion. This will
result in an understanding not only in the brain, as in the first case, but also in the
heart which will eventually help cure the patient of his neurosis.
Analysts who derive their interpretations of dreams on preconceived notions or a one
sided theory and then proceed to push these interpretations onto their patients have to
do so by suggestion. Suggestion is a valuable tool for short term small fixes. When
an analyst uses suggestion as the basis of the analysis it

film was more action packed. There were many similarities but just as many
differences. The pertinent characters in the book were similar but had dissimilar

is a family man, loves his job, and gets frustrated when facing the dilemma of
locating and destroying the great white shark. Another resemblance is the shark is

An Analysis Of Maya Angelou And Alice Walker
Maya Angelou and Alice Walker are two well known contemporary African
American writers. Although both women are from different generations they share
some of the same qualities and experiences. Both women used their past
experiences of tragedy and hardship as a stepping stool for growth by turning that
pain into what now are famous stories and poems. For most writers, majority of their
work stem from their own experiences, and for both Alice and Maya a great deal of
their works regarded the dilemmas many African Americanpeople faced during that
time such as prejudice and discrimination.
They were each so passionate about equal rights for colored people that they got
involved with the civil rights movement. Maya Angelou participated in the movement
in the 1960s by touring the country with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr as he prepared
for the Poor People s Campaign . Alice Walkerparticipated by writing a novel in
1976 called Meridian, which is known as the meditation on the modern civil rights
movement. Both women also had strong views about equality for African American
women, and soon became known as Feminist. They used their platform as writers to
express the challenges many black women faced, as well as give women like them a
voice by promoting gender equality.
Although Maya Angelou and Alice Walker share these similarities, there are still
unique facts that separate these writers apart. Marguerite Annie Johnson, also known
as Maya Angelou, was born on April 4, 1928,

Compare And Contrast Ice Fishing And Summer Fishing
Ice Fishing or Summer Fishing Fishing is an extremely fun thing to do. The
objective of fishing is to outsmart a fish by catching it using a bait. People have been
fishing for thousands, upon thousands, of years. It can be something somebody does
for fun, or for food. Regardless, it is a fun thing to undergo. However, which is
better, fishingin the summer or fishing in the winter? There are lots of different baits
that can be used while summer fishing. Fishcan be caught differently during this
time. One way to catch fish is by casting and reeling. When using this method, you
cast a lure into the desired spot and real it in, hoping to catch a fish in the process.
Another way to catch fish is by using a bobber. When bobber fishing, you put live
bait or fake bait onto a hook and cast your line into spot where you are likely to
catch something. The bobber will keep the hook, and bait suspended in the water.
That way when a fish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fishing when the weather is warm can be very fun. It is also quite comfortable.
Most of the time, shorts and a T shirt is all one needs to wear in summer. Even
fishing at night, in the summer months, is warm. A glorious thing about going
fishing when it s warm is that if it gets too hot, there is always the opportunity of
jumping in the water to cool off. Ice fishing is done in the colder months of the
year when all the lakes and rivers are frozen over. Ice fishing is done by drilling, or
chiseling your way through ice until you reach water. Once water is reached, you
drop a desired bait down the hole and wait. Hopefully you pick a good spot,
because when ice fishing, every time you want to move spots the same process has
to be repeated. It can be quite the hassle, drilling through ice, especially when there
is a lot of it. There is a perk however, when ice fishing, it is legal to have two lines
down instead of the usual one line, during open water/summer
The Role Of Man In Song Of Solomon By Toni Morrison
From birth a human being immediately begins to be shaped in character, personality,
and mentality. The sculptor who is responsible for this meticulously crafted work of
art is a parental figure, most often in the maternal form. In the novel Song of Solomon
by Toni Morrison the maternal figures of Ruth Foster and Pilate Dead shape the
protagonist Milkman, ultimately allowing him to fly. The two nurturing figures in
the witty novelhave different aspects of their characters that authorize them to help
Milkman transform from a whiny boy to an inquisitive man. However, at the end of
this journey, one woman is left on the ground while the other flies herself. In Toni
Morrisons novel Song of Solomon she contrasts Pilate and Ruth s characters through
their love of Milkman in order to heighten the importance of maternal love and the
gender roles involved in it. Ruth Foster is an extremely interesting character who
throughout the novel is restricted by men in her quest to nurture and care for
them. She is a depressed character, relying on an old water stain to keep her in this
world, to remind her that she was alive somewhere, inside, which she
acknowledged to be true only because a thing she knew intimately was out there,
outside herself (Morrison 11). This water stain also represents Milkman, Ruth s
only goal in life is to care for him, which is why she breastfed him to an older than
normal age and cares for him so deeply. He is the only purpose that she has for
living, and
Temporal Processing Paper
Temporal processing relates to the incorporation and integration of diverse acoustic
signals over time. The auditory system works to address the spectral and temporal
modulations of speech, identification of sound location, speech in noise, and other
environmental and auditory stimuli. Temporal processing consists of the ability to
sequence, discriminate, integrate, and mask incoming auditory signals (Shinn, 2003).
The auditory systemrecognizes the location and discrimination of sounds through
communication of neurons in the central ascending auditory pathway. Phase locking
with varying frequency cutoffs based on test subjects affects this coding of signal
(Paolini, FitzGerald, Burkitt, Clark, 2001). Neurons must fire fast and precise in
order to detect the brief time differences between stimuli. With the help of potassium
channels at both presynaptic and postsynaptic action potential(AP) locations, these
neurons remain constantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the activation of the Kv3.1 potassium channel, these neurons phase locked
precisely to acoustic stimuli presented up to 2000 to 4000 Hz (Song and Kaczmarek,
2006). Regulation of certain potassium channels, both increasing and decreasing the
influx of potassium, relied on the process of sound activated phosphorylation and
sound activated dephosphorylation after the onset of loud noises (Steinert et al.,
2008). Stimulation of Kv3.1a and Kv3.1b channels expressed in the globular bushy
cells of the AVCN and principle neurons of MNTB strongly depended on the process
of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Research focused on the process of
activation with the Kv3.1b channel in adult cells, as the shorter Kv3.1a expressed
greater quantities in embryonic cells (Kaczmarek et al., 2005). Through this process,
the influx of potassium affected the activation of neurons in the ascending auditory
The PietпїЅ Of The Christa By Michelangelo Buonarroto
The Pieta
Michelangelo Buonarroti s PietГ of the Vatican is a physical representation of the
mortal relationship between a parent and their child while highlighting the mystical
elements of Jesus resurrection. In the sculptural details, Michelangelo s artistry
illustrates the meaning of faithfulness to God and the humbling experiences taken
place in the world before the kingdom.
Through sculptural technique, The PietГ by Michelangelo represents the sanctity of
Mary and Jesus. Specifically, the work identifies the passion of Christ while
displaying the the nurturing role of Mary in ideal Renaissance form.
Some may argue that Michelangelo s previous PietГ s such as the Rondanini or the
Palestrini convey the expressions of Christ and Mary iPietГ s of Rondanini and
Palestrini show Jesus in
Michelangelo s representation of Mary and Jesus in this sculpture is ideal in its
form. For example, Mary s appearance is noted to be youthful in comparison to
what her reported age of 44 at the time of Jesus death. In Michelangelo s other
artworks, he depicts humans in monumental proportion and not true to their
realistic self. This ideal style of Michelangelo translates in this piece through the
body of Mary. In proportion to Jesus, Mary is larger than her son. Additionally, the
folded clothes draped around the Virgin makes her appear larger than she is.
Michelangelo s technique has structural implications in that it makes her look
graceful as she holding the body of her son. This choice of portrayal implies that
Mary is figuratively a support for Jesus. Additionally, this structural approach
contains symbolic meaning, as Mary is the one cradling her son during his death.
According to German mystics, Mary is imagining her son as a child again. This
idea of Mary s imagination is revisited in the resurrection, or rebirth of her son. The
belief in life after death is a central tenet to Christian belief. Theologian Simeon
Metaphrastes has said, You have often slept on my lap the sleep of infancy, but
now you sleep on my lap the slumber of death. [1]. Perhaps this is the thought
process of a parent witnessing their child s death; as it is expected for a child to
outlive their parents. The difference of the usage of
Feminism in Northanger Abbey and Persuasion by Jane
Austen
Feminism in Northanger Abbey From my point of view, Jane Austen should be seen
as a feminist writer. As she wrote in one of her novel Persuasion, she considers that
Men have had every advantage of us in telling their own story. Education has been
theirs in so much higher a degree; the pen has been in their hands. I will not allow
books to prove anything (Anne Elliot, in Jane Austens Persuasion). Such feminist
ideas are expressed in many of her literary works. In her another novel Northanger
Abbey, there are various issues discussed, which include not only marriage, social
criticism and Gothic, but also feminism as well. The essay is to discuss Jane Austen
and her feminist thoughts by analyzing Northanger Abbey. The analysis will cover
three aspects. First of all, in her book, Jane Austen expresses the view that both
genders possess equal creative and intellectual qualities, and thus women are born to
be equal to men. Second, she expresses her skepticism towards the degree of
rationality and justice of the common social norms about female behavior. The third
aspect is that Austen also insists that women should act for themselves in a rational
way rather than merely trying to impress or to please the other sex. First, though Jane
Austen s Northanger Abbey is not completely categorized as a feminist novel, by
portraying the protagonist Catherine in the way Jane Austen does, she expresses her
opinion that women have been individuals with
Humanism In Antigone
Over the centuries, the figure of Antigone has assumed the archetypal and
iconographical martyred champion of the oppressed thus been restaged and reworked
into countless literary pieces. Through Winston s performance as Antigone, Fugard is
able project ideas of Western liberal humanism to an apartheid ridden South Africa,
constituting to a form of heroic resistance against racial oppression.
Fugard specifically focuses on The Trial and Punishment of Antigone scene where the
play climaxes. Through the use of metatheatre, he highlights the power of stage
performance, in this case demonstrating Winston s action in the play within a play
has abilities to transcend through reality and affect us, the audience. This is done by
creating an intentional slippage between the division level of reality, the stage and the
stage on stage. By tearing off his wig and confronting the audience as Winston, not
Antigone he essentially blurs the boundary between actor and character, conversely
the boundary between stage and reality also disintegrates. The use of John and ...

Her act of defying Creon by burring her brother is paralleled with Winston s defiance
of the state and rebellious act of resisting apartheid authority by burning his passbook.
By openly committing his act in front of a police station, like Antigone, he is
sentenced to his living death eclipsing their tragic fate together. In Sophocles
original work, Creon symbolise the state law and Antigone the will of the Gods,
underlining the fact that state law is not absolute, and can be broken through civil
disobedience hence suggesting there is a higher law of humanity. Thus, in the eyes
of the higher law Winston s burning of the passbook is justifiable. This can be
extended to Fugard s work where apartheid authority is represented through John s
Creon and freedom and of human rights of Black Africans are echoed in Antigone as
evident in the final
Inappropriate Observation
After conducting a t test and regression in R, we can conclude that vegetation
cover differs on and off a prairie dog colony meaning that prairie dogs have a
significant effect of grassland vegetation by increasing vegetation richness and
diversity. As we already said, there was a greater variety of plants in the grassland
region with prairie dogs than in the region without prairie dogs. The fact that there
is more vegetation on a prairie dog colony region than off a prairie dog colony
suggests that sites inhabited by prairie dog populations will have a richer
distribution of plants and a healthier prairie ecosystem. Kotliar, N. B. (1999) and

The Controversy Over U.S. Domestic Surveillance
Ever since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the
Pentagon, and an area in Pennsylvania, in which nearly 3,000 helpless individuals
were killed, the U.S. Congress began to pass legislation that would strengthen the
United State s counterterrorism efforts. Less than a month after the horrific attack,
the National Security Agency (NSA) started a special collection program with
intentions to track communications among suspected terrorists and Al Qaeda leaders.
Then on October 4, 2001, President George W. Bushauthorized the NSA to monitor
domestic communications in order to track down suspected terrorists. Two problems
shortly arose from Bush s decision: the fact that his authorization to NSA was carried
out in secret and also that monitoring the domestic communications was done without
a warrant. This proved to be illegal since the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance
Actstates that the government is prohibited from eavesdropping inside the United
States without first getting a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance
Court (FISA court). In order to counteract the issues he had caused, on October 26,
2001 Bush signed the Patriot Act; a law that would expand the government s
electronic surveillance powers. After signing this law Bush stated, The existing law
was written in the era of rotary telephones. This new law that I sign today will allow
surveillance of all communications used by terrorists, including emails, the
Serial Killers and Mass Murderers

Serial Killers Mass Murderers and Serial Killers are nothing new to today s
society. These vicious killers are all violent, brutal monsters and have an abnormal
urge to kill. What gives people these urges to kill? What motivates them to keep
killing? Do these killers get satisfaction from killing? Is there a difference between
mass murderers and serial killers or are they the same. How do they choose their
victims and what are some of their characteristics? These questions and many more
are reasons why I was eager to write my paper on mass murderers and serial killers.
However, the most interesting and sought after questions are the ones that have...

Most serial killers are white males between the ages of 25 and 35 years old with an
intelligence level of average or higher. They also tend to be married with children
and have a career (Serial 1). They also seem to have a childhood past of being
physically and sexually abused and are from broken homes. As children, they
often wet the bed, were infatuated with masturbation, were cruel to animals, and
liked playing with fire. Because of their childhood, they often develop a
psychopathic nature and do not know how to feel sympathy or be in a relationship
(Scott 2). Because of their insecurity, a compulsive need to feel like they are in
authority becomes a vital part of their well being, even at the cost of others lives.
As Americans look back at the past one hundred years, we stand in awe while
looking at the drastic increase in crime. However, at the same time we have a
hunger for knowledge of these crimes as we search for and interesting theory. People
want to know every detail of the most brutal crimes, and moreover, how they were
committed. Angie cannon insists that this is because people want to believe that it
cannot happen to themselves. We want to know how these unspeakable acts were
committed, to convince ourselves that we are immune from the same wretched fait
(Cannon 1). Lee Ross also states a similar theory, which indicates that Every suicide
is unconsciously a suicide and
Examples Of Didactic Intervention
looks at many different interventions for children with ASD. Interventions that range
in philosophies and adult support have been shown to be effective in increasing
language and communication in children with autism. Didactic methods are based on
behaviorist theory and use trials, operant conditioning, shaping, prompting and
chaining. The adult controls all aspects of the intervention. Discrete Trial Intervention
is an example of a didactic intervention. A skill may divide into small components and
each part is learned using a highly structured method. A naturalistic approach
incorporates behaviorist theories while using a more natural environment to
encourage social interactions. The goal is for the child to initiate communication. An

An example of my naivetГ© lies in the domain of biblical teachers. My ideas were
rebuked in James 3:1. The Jubilee Bible translates it: My brethren, make not unto
yourselves many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
It took me a long time to piece the meaning together because I had not considered
anything beyond the surface. Many had taught me through classes and
commentaries that this was merely a statement of warning for teachers, and I
accepted it because it did not conflict with anything I already knew to be fact. This
was my interpretation of it: Be careful about becoming a teacher because you will be

According to James 1, my only alternative is to admit that my ideas and wisdom are

The Arguments Against Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana is the most used drug by teens and adults today. There are many strong
arguments against the legalization of marijuana; there are also many valid reasons
to legalize the drug. Although marijuana alters the natural brain functions like:
memory, attentiveness, and coordination, keeping it illegal will not stop people
from using the drug, but it imposes on other issues that need to be solved. With
legalizing marijuana it would give law enforcement motive to focus on real crimes,
the government would make a huge profit by taxing it, and it can also be beneficial
for some medical needs. Marijuana is the most valuable cash crop. By placing a tax
on marijuana will not only help the economy bloom, but it would also help the
government greatly. Keeping marijuana illegal is becoming expensive... Show more

The argument that marijuana is illegal because it is life threatening or causes
health issues is eliminated. Marijuana is a drug just like any other drug we take to

lower the number of seizures a person has in a life span. It is bizarre to not have it
legal when it could potentially be lifesaving. The possession of marijuana, or the
usage of marijuana does not cause any harm to society; therefore, it should not be
considered a crime. Legalizing it keeps the police force busy with real crimes that
occur. With marijuana legal it will allow the law to spend more money on other
issues such as; homicide, robbery and prostitution. Arresting and jailing people for

In fact, as clay begins to dry the piece will shrink because of the water evaporating.
The particles inside will compact together as it hardens. If the drying is considered
uneven , for example one part dries faster than the other, the clay might crack. If
one clay s particle sizes are smaller than another s, it will shrink more. This is because
all the small particles are now far apart so they have to cover more space in order to

Prejudice And Prejudice In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the concept of prejudice is introduced
through the creature s character as a means to explore one of mankind s greatest
flaws. Prejudice by definition is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason
or actual experience. These preconceived opinions placed on on the creature had a
detrimental effect on his quality of life. As a result of his outward appearance, the
creature s attempt at humanization resulted in the denial of basic rights. This notion
of prejudicethat is depicted through the creature s character can unfortunately be
connected to prejudice present in our world today, where many peopleare denied
adequate education, jobs, and safety based primarily on the aspect of connecting a
person s outward appearance to their suspected morals, beliefs, and possible future
behavior. With ensuing race wars in the United States and other areas of the world,
messages against prejudice and discriminationhave been given a large platform in
the media. But prejudice has been present in humans for as long as we can
remember, however it is still unknown why people are prone to prejudice in the first
place. New research, using monkeys, may suggest that our reluctance to prejudice
may be deeply rooted in our evolutionary past. This research was conducted by Yale
graduate Neha Mahajan and a team of psychologists, where they traveled to Cayo
Santiago, an uninhabited island southeast of Puerto Rico also known as Monkey

this student. They can also provide insight on what strategies may not work when
developing the plan. The area director will be an important part of the team because
she will be able to offer resources that are used in other area schools. This will allow
the team to create a variety of strategies that may not be available within the student s
school.
D1. Impact of Stakeholder Input
The stakeholder input impacted the execution of the plan because it gave the team
an opportunity to know what has worked in the past and what strategies were not as
effective. This allowed strategies to be eliminated or added to the plan. The parents
provided information about what motivated the child at home which was included in
the plan which helped to achieve the goals. Having a team that was collaborative and
all a part of designing the plan helped
Missy Elliott Influence
Missy Elliott Honored by Essence at 2018 Black Women in Music Essence is set
to honor rapper, singer, producer, dancer, and song writer Missy Elliott at the 2018
Black Women in Music event. The event will take place at New York on the
January 25. Elliott has become a huge inspiration and icon in pop culture music.
The Grammy winner has continuously pushed the limits of her craft and create a
culture that defines the woman s identity across a variety of platforms including
music, dance, film, television, fashion, and art. She is a champion of the black
culture and has broken the barriers of hip hop and music through her skill and
talent. Her creativity has influence the flow of the music generation along with
other superstars such as Pharrell Williams and Timbaland to name a few. Her
success as a solo artist, producer, and songwriter has allowed her to build a legacy
that will be remembered for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since then, Elliott continuously works hard to raise the bar in music. By creating
chart topping hits for her fellow artists such as BeyoncГ©, Mariah Carey, Mary J.
Blige, and the late Whitney Houston among many others. Her personal style along
with her futuristic influence has made her a fashion icon among many girls,
especially in the late 90 s as well as early 2000 s. Meanwhile, her flair for dancing
and arts have also influenced performances both live as well as music videos with
a fresh and innovative approach. Elliott is definitely considered a triple threat to
other artists. Her craft cuts across different generations particularly her
achievements and contributions to the industry. According to Vanessa De Luca, the
editor in chief of Essence says that the rapper s work is remarkable and she serves
as a huge inspiration to women all across the globe. She is highly artistic and we can
t wait to celebrate her accomplishments, adds De
Daniel Captivity
In 605 B.C during Jehoiakim s reign, the Babylonian s king Nebuchadnezzar took
Daniel and his friends as captives when he besieged Jerusalem. Daniel was taken
captive because he fit in the standards, which the king was searching for: young men,
good looking and smart. During the time of captivity, Daniel, the author of the book
of the Bible with the same name, writes about the dreams, visions and situations he
passed in the course of the captivity. Indeed Daniels actions reflected the way he
faced the situations, showed how he feared and was obedient to God, even when
he was placed in a room full of lions or into a furnace of blazing fire. The story of
Daniel begins in the third year Jehoiakim s reign when he was taken captive from
Judah... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daniel received also a Babylonian s name so he was called Belteshazzar (or
Belshazzar) that possibly means Bel, protect his life. Daniel s character was tested
when he decided not to eat the king s food and proposed to the commander of the
officials to eat something different to see they would be healthier and better
looking than the ones eating from the king s chosen food. After a week eating
vegetables, Daniel was healthier and better looking than the other youth. By
choosing not to eat the food from the king s table Daniel was being obedient to
God s word because the food chosen by the king was dedicated to the Babylonian s
gods, probably were from unclean animals and the blood was not taken out. Daniel
received the name Belteshazzar because of the Babylonian s gods either Marduk,
or Nebo conceivably to incorporate the culture of the Babylonians and their pagan
s gods. God provided Daniel with intelligence, wisdom and a special gift: the
understanding of all kinds of visions and dreams and as a result of that, Daniel was
the one God chose to interpret the dreams of, the king of Babylon,
Nebuchadnezzar. The Bible says the king was distressed and wanted to kill every
wise men of Babylon, therefore Daniel was one of the wise men. Daniel knew God
was merciful and could reveal to him the meaning of the dream in order to spare

Objectives
This report seeks to answer the following five questions about Star River Electronics
Ltd.: 1. Assess the current financial health and recent financial performance of the
company. What strengths and/or weaknesses would you highlight to Adeline Koh? 2.
Forecast the firm s financial statements for 2002 and 2003. What will be the external
financing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company needs an infusion of capital in order to maintain the actual growth rate.
It is unlikely the firm would recover unless inventories are reduced, especially in the
context of weakened demand for CD ROMs and the associated risk of having to
deeply discount or even write them off.
Another item to correct is the Production costs and expenses, currently running at
50% of the revenue. The management has expressed concerns with outdated
packaging equipment and the use of the more expensive second and third shift to
catch up with production. An investment here would probably turn profitable in the
context of healthy sale numbers.
Key Driver Assumptions
Sales is one of the major key driver assumptions because so many assumptions are
based on a percentage of sales. As sales increases, so do production costs, admin and
selling expenses, accounts receivable and inventories. Koh assumes that a 15% year
over year growth is expected. This is a risky assumption since the market is moving
away from cd technology to dvd technology. Star River has little capacity to support
future dvd demand without taking on additional manufacturing investments.
Inventories are a staggering 60% of sales and are full of soon to obsolete inventory.
It is possible that this inventory of cds will not be able to be sold at full retail value
with the growth of the dvd market. Perhaps more important to the current financial
outlook, as
The Local School Board Just Raised Taxes For The Fourth
Year
The local school board just raised taxes for the fourth year in a row, what do you
do? If you do not like the actions of your local school board, you can vote against
your local school board member in the next election. This is democracy at work.
Understanding that there is no such thing as a one size fits all education, it is
necessary for a local government control of education with minimal state control
because unions still need to have the power to protect their members, every school
district is different and has different needs, and democracy is necessary in our
society. The teachers union has been around for many years. The first union was
founded in, 1857: The National Education Association (NEA) is founded in
Philadelphia by 43 educators (Mader, 2012). With a local school board in charge of
a district s education, teachers unions can have a greater ability to bargain, educate,
and protect their members. School boards are there to help be an in between for the
tax payers and the schools.
School systems sometimes make promises they have no intention of keeping. Other
times, they can deliver a world of opportunities to our neediest children. They may or
may not want to listen to parents or even teachers, but school systems always attend
to the demands of the most powerful individuals and institutions in their
communities. (Koonce, 2016, p. 204).
Having a good relationship between the school board and teachers union is a very
big deal. A bad relationship

How To Prevent Pollution Essay. Essay on Pollution: Elements, Type, Format amp; Samples Leverage Edu

  • 1. How To Prevent Pollution Essay Crafting an essay on the prevention of pollution is undeniably a challenging task that demands a careful blend of scientific knowledge, environmental awareness, and persuasive writing skills. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of pollution itself – an intricate web of various pollutants, sources, and impacts on both the environment and human health. To start, one must delve into the extensive realm of environmental science to understand the different types of pollution – air, water, soil, and noise pollution. Each type requires a unique set of prevention strategies, and comprehending the scientific intricacies is a prerequisite for providing informed solutions. Additionally, the writer needs to explore the anthropogenic causes behind pollution, encompassing industrial activities, improper waste disposal, deforestation, and vehicular emissions, among others. Environmental policies and regulations become pivotal points of discussion, adding another layer of complexity. Addressing the effectiveness, loopholes, and potential improvements in existing policies requires a thorough analysis, often involving research into governmental and non- governmental initiatives. Furthermore, the essay must consider the socio-economic factors influencing pollution prevention measures, as solutions must be both ecologically sound and socially feasible. Beyond the scientific and policy dimensions, the writer must skillfully weave in persuasive elements. This involves elucidating the urgency of pollution prevention, creating a compelling narrative that resonates with the readers' values, and motivating them to embrace sustainable practices. Balancing the technical aspects with a human touch is crucial to ensure that the essay is not only informative but also engaging and relatable. In conclusion, writing an essay on preventing pollution is akin to navigating through a maze of scientific principles, policy intricacies, and persuasive techniques. It requires a comprehensive understanding of environmental science, a critical analysis of policies, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. However, despite the challenges, the ultimate goal is to inspire positive change and advocate for a cleaner, healthier planet. Recycling Waste Of Recycling Although recycling of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) based plastics decrease the amount of these polymers that end up in municipal waste, the cost of recycling these plastics for the producer are an important factor to weigh in to whether they should be recycled or not. PVC is a soft and flexible plastic used to make clear plastic food wrapping, computer cables, and even pipes and parts for plumbing. Because PVC contains numerous toxins, food products using PVC require virgin material for their construction. In general, there are two types of PVC recyclingprocesses, mechanical and feedstock, which include their own respect costs, purposes, and benefits. Although there are a large number of costs for the producer for recycling PVC from the toxicity to the inefficacy of its recycling process, there are many benefits that include reducing the amount of PVC in municipal waste and its usefulness as a recycled product. In general, virgin PVC itself is already relatively toxic as its main component is vinyl chloride, which is a carcinogen. Once PVC is recycled once, its chemical properties deteriorate, and its toxicity becomes more harmful, meaning its usefulness as a food container product no longer exist. Therefore, recycled PVC cannot be used to its previous full potential lead companies to think whether it is worth it to recycle this polymer. Although recycled polymers are cheaper to produce, their quality decreases due to contamination with each recycling cycle (1), and with

Comparing MusГ©e des Beaux Arts and Life Cycle of Common Man MusГ©e des Beaux Arts and Life Cycle of Common Man share a common theme, though the imagery they use to express it is quite different. Both poems have the theme of life goes on or life stops for no one. The difference in imagery is the difference between the general and the specific. I believe that the theme of both poems lies in the same vein, but they take different paths to its development. Auden speaks more about society in general; then, he gives an interpretation of a painting as an example. On the other hand, Nemerov expresses the theme through the life cycle of one man, but is this one man everyman? The they of Auden s poem? In the first thirteen ... The only difference is the distance they have traveled down life s path. While the aged are reverently, passionately waiting / For the miraculous birth . . . the children go on about their play, thinking of all the days ahead while the aged sit waiting and thinking about all the days behind. The only difference between the aged and the children at this point in life is their perspective. Instead of continuing on about the subtle differences in life, Auden goes back to how life goes on everywhere no matter what. He moves out of the realm of people and into the ambiguous areas of there and the world of animals: Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot / Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer s horse / Scratches its innocent behind on a tree. He is stating that no matter what is happening around you somewhere in the world life is going on regardless of events good or bad. This human experience that we are all in is an all encompassing event that will continue along its ineffable course until its conclusion. Auden then makes a shift from the general to the very specific by using Brueghel s Icarus as an example of his point. He describes the painting very well‹even if you have never seen it, you could understand what is happening in the

How does Priestley convey his beliefs through the Inspector and Birling family? Priestley conveys his beliefs through the Inspector and the Birling family in various ways. Priestly believed in ?social conscience? that we are all responsible for each other. Priestly never believed in the class system as he thought it was very unjust and divided everyone, especially poorer people, in a poorer way. Birling also believes he is going to get a knighthood, ?I might find my way into the next honours list. Just a knighthood, Of course? Birling casually throws in ?just? when referring to his knighthood which shows that it is not a big thing for a man like him to get. Birling is worried when the inspector leaves in case anybody finds out what happened and is also worried about the knighthood. Again, this shows us he is worried about his ?social status? because he believes that life begins and ends with it ? believes his future is going to be a comfortable world. Birling also is very uncaring and unsympathetic towards Eva. ?she?d had a lot to say far too much so she had to go? This could indicate that Birling was sexist and makes us consider whether he would do the same to a male worker. It also reveals Birling?s self centeredness and how cold hearted he is. He does not care about the social classes below him and believes they have no right to ask for anything. If this was Birling?s ?political world? he would try to impress the community to receive the knighthood but he cant give the people who put him in that position a few shillings more. He also does not seem to care that Eva Smith has lost her life, we learn this through the tone of his voice and dismissive language when he speaks. He shows no interest or any sympathy. On numerous

Jung gives a layperson insight into his ideas on dream analysis. Jung s primary objective in this book is to educate the reader as to what a psychoanalyst does when analyzing a patient s dreams. The principal message in the section of the book centered on dream analysis is that dreams should never stand alone. Dreams are meaningless in a vacuum, but on the other hand when put against a strict set of rules, they are oftentimes misunderstood. Her dreams would be more and more open with different therapists until she reached Jung and her initial dreams embraced him and they subsequently had a productive analysis. The cause of this patient s neurosis came to light later, but was in no way present in her initial dreams. Dreams can often be anticipatory and are misleading if looked at in merely causalistic ways. When a doctor understands a patient completely and the patient seems to have no understanding of himself, an analyst will frequently accuse the patient of resistance. It is recommended that if an analyst holds all of the understanding, then he should stress where he lacks understanding of the patient. Even if an analyst comes to a sound conclusion of the meaning of a dream, but the patient is reluctant to agree, the therapist should not push this understanding on the patient. In this case the analyst should work with the patient to come to a mutually gratifying conclusion. This will result in an understanding not only in the brain, as in the first case, but also in the heart which will eventually help cure the patient of his neurosis. Analysts who derive their interpretations of dreams on preconceived notions or a one sided theory and then proceed to push these interpretations onto their patients have to do so by suggestion. Suggestion is a valuable tool for short term small fixes. When an analyst uses suggestion as the basis of the analysis it

  • 18. An Analysis Of Maya Angelou And Alice Walker Maya Angelou and Alice Walker are two well known contemporary African American writers. Although both women are from different generations they share some of the same qualities and experiences. Both women used their past experiences of tragedy and hardship as a stepping stool for growth by turning that pain into what now are famous stories and poems. For most writers, majority of their work stem from their own experiences, and for both Alice and Maya a great deal of their works regarded the dilemmas many African Americanpeople faced during that time such as prejudice and discrimination. They were each so passionate about equal rights for colored people that they got involved with the civil rights movement. Maya Angelou participated in the movement in the 1960s by touring the country with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr as he prepared for the Poor People s Campaign . Alice Walkerparticipated by writing a novel in 1976 called Meridian, which is known as the meditation on the modern civil rights movement. Both women also had strong views about equality for African American women, and soon became known as Feminist. They used their platform as writers to express the challenges many black women faced, as well as give women like them a voice by promoting gender equality. Although Maya Angelou and Alice Walker share these similarities, there are still unique facts that separate these writers apart. Marguerite Annie Johnson, also known as Maya Angelou, was born on April 4, 1928,

Now, I am concluding my final semester of Honours Health Science and will be going to study Chemical engineering at McGill University. Though I do not see myself being a teacher in the near future, I hope that I can continue to tutor people in science based classes and perhaps one day teach the subject after getting the appropriate degree needed to be a teacher in Higher Education. I hope that one day, I can be a Chemistry teacher at either the CEGEP level, or at the University level. I am choosing this particular discipline, since I am familiar very comfortable with the subject, and because of how Chemistry is everywhere; it s in the foods we eat, everything we touch, and everything we see. Along with that, every science student at CEGEP level must complete at least 2 Chemistry courses before graduating, and 3 for those in the Health Sciences. Based on what I have seen at College level, certain teaching strategies are better suited than others depending on the course being taught, and also based on the amount of free time a student has that can be invested in a class. The best suited educational philosophies for teaching Chemistry would have to be Realism and Pragmatism. Realism is very well suited to studying the subject, because of how students learn through studying what goes on in reality (not just in theory) and due to how the philosophy is
  • 20. Compare And Contrast Ice Fishing And Summer Fishing Ice Fishing or Summer Fishing Fishing is an extremely fun thing to do. The objective of fishing is to outsmart a fish by catching it using a bait. People have been fishing for thousands, upon thousands, of years. It can be something somebody does for fun, or for food. Regardless, it is a fun thing to undergo. However, which is better, fishingin the summer or fishing in the winter? There are lots of different baits that can be used while summer fishing. Fishcan be caught differently during this time. One way to catch fish is by casting and reeling. When using this method, you cast a lure into the desired spot and real it in, hoping to catch a fish in the process. Another way to catch fish is by using a bobber. When bobber fishing, you put live bait or fake bait onto a hook and cast your line into spot where you are likely to catch something. The bobber will keep the hook, and bait suspended in the water. That way when a fish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fishing when the weather is warm can be very fun. It is also quite comfortable. Most of the time, shorts and a T shirt is all one needs to wear in summer. Even fishing at night, in the summer months, is warm. A glorious thing about going fishing when it s warm is that if it gets too hot, there is always the opportunity of jumping in the water to cool off. Ice fishing is done in the colder months of the year when all the lakes and rivers are frozen over. Ice fishing is done by drilling, or chiseling your way through ice until you reach water. Once water is reached, you drop a desired bait down the hole and wait. Hopefully you pick a good spot, because when ice fishing, every time you want to move spots the same process has to be repeated. It can be quite the hassle, drilling through ice, especially when there is a lot of it. There is a perk however, when ice fishing, it is legal to have two lines down instead of the usual one line, during open water/summer
  • 21. The Role Of Man In Song Of Solomon By Toni Morrison From birth a human being immediately begins to be shaped in character, personality, and mentality. The sculptor who is responsible for this meticulously crafted work of art is a parental figure, most often in the maternal form. In the novel Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison the maternal figures of Ruth Foster and Pilate Dead shape the protagonist Milkman, ultimately allowing him to fly. The two nurturing figures in the witty novelhave different aspects of their characters that authorize them to help Milkman transform from a whiny boy to an inquisitive man. However, at the end of this journey, one woman is left on the ground while the other flies herself. In Toni Morrisons novel Song of Solomon she contrasts Pilate and Ruth s characters through their love of Milkman in order to heighten the importance of maternal love and the gender roles involved in it. Ruth Foster is an extremely interesting character who throughout the novel is restricted by men in her quest to nurture and care for them. She is a depressed character, relying on an old water stain to keep her in this world, to remind her that she was alive somewhere, inside, which she acknowledged to be true only because a thing she knew intimately was out there, outside herself (Morrison 11). This water stain also represents Milkman, Ruth s only goal in life is to care for him, which is why she breastfed him to an older than normal age and cares for him so deeply. He is the only purpose that she has for living, and
  • 22. Temporal Processing Paper Temporal processing relates to the incorporation and integration of diverse acoustic signals over time. The auditory system works to address the spectral and temporal modulations of speech, identification of sound location, speech in noise, and other environmental and auditory stimuli. Temporal processing consists of the ability to sequence, discriminate, integrate, and mask incoming auditory signals (Shinn, 2003). The auditory systemrecognizes the location and discrimination of sounds through communication of neurons in the central ascending auditory pathway. Phase locking with varying frequency cutoffs based on test subjects affects this coding of signal (Paolini, FitzGerald, Burkitt, Clark, 2001). Neurons must fire fast and precise in order to detect the brief time differences between stimuli. With the activation of the Kv3.1 potassium channel, these neurons phase locked precisely to acoustic stimuli presented up to 2000 to 4000 Hz (Song and Kaczmarek, 2006). Stimulation of Kv3.1a and Kv3.1b channels expressed in the globular bushy cells of the AVCN and principle neurons of MNTB strongly depended on the process of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Research focused on the process of activation with the Kv3.1b channel in adult cells, as the shorter Kv3.1a expressed greater quantities in embryonic cells (Kaczmarek et al., 2005). Through this process, the influx of potassium affected the activation of neurons in the ascending auditory

The PietпїЅ Of The Christa By Michelangelo Buonarroto The Pieta Michelangelo Buonarroti s PietГ of the Vatican is a physical representation of the mortal relationship between a parent and their child while highlighting the mystical elements of Jesus resurrection. In the sculptural details, Michelangelo s artistry illustrates the meaning of faithfulness to God and the humbling experiences taken place in the world before the kingdom. Through sculptural technique, The PietГ by Michelangelo represents the sanctity of Mary and Jesus. Specifically, the work identifies the passion of Christ while displaying the the nurturing role of Mary in ideal Renaissance form. Some may argue that Michelangelo s previous PietГ s such as the Rondanini or the Palestrini convey the expressions of Christ and Mary iPietГ s of Rondanini and Palestrini show Jesus in Michelangelo s representation of Mary and Jesus in this sculpture is ideal in its form. For example, Mary s appearance is noted to be youthful in comparison to what her reported age of 44 at the time of Jesus death. In Michelangelo s other artworks, he depicts humans in monumental proportion and not true to their realistic self. This ideal style of Michelangelo translates in this piece through the body of Mary. In proportion to Jesus, Mary is larger than her son. Additionally, the folded clothes draped around the Virgin makes her appear larger than she is. Michelangelo s technique has structural implications in that it makes her look graceful as she holding the body of her son. This choice of portrayal implies that Mary is figuratively a support for Jesus. Additionally, this structural approach contains symbolic meaning, as Mary is the one cradling her son during his death. According to German mystics, Mary is imagining her son as a child again. This idea of Mary s imagination is revisited in the resurrection, or rebirth of her son. The belief in life after death is a central tenet to Christian belief. Theologian Simeon Metaphrastes has said, You have often slept on my lap the sleep of infancy, but now you sleep on my lap the slumber of death. [1]. Perhaps this is the thought process of a parent witnessing their child s death; as it is expected for a child to outlive their parents. The difference of the usage of
  • 24. Feminism in Northanger Abbey and Persuasion by Jane Austen Feminism in Northanger Abbey From my point of view, Jane Austen should be seen as a feminist writer. As she wrote in one of her novel Persuasion, she considers that Men have had every advantage of us in telling their own story. Education has been theirs in so much higher a degree; the pen has been in their hands. I will not allow books to prove anything (Anne Elliot, in Jane Austens Persuasion). Such feminist ideas are expressed in many of her literary works. In her another novel Northanger Abbey, there are various issues discussed, which include not only marriage, social criticism and Gothic, but also feminism as well. The essay is to discuss Jane Austen and her feminist thoughts by analyzing Northanger Abbey. The analysis will cover three aspects. First of all, in her book, Jane Austen expresses the view that both genders possess equal creative and intellectual qualities, and thus women are born to be equal to men. Second, she expresses her skepticism towards the degree of rationality and justice of the common social norms about female behavior. The third aspect is that Austen also insists that women should act for themselves in a rational way rather than merely trying to impress or to please the other sex. First, though Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is not completely categorized as a feminist novel, by portraying the protagonist Catherine in the way Jane Austen does, she expresses her opinion that women have been individuals with

Humanism In Antigone Over the centuries, the figure of Antigone has assumed the archetypal and iconographical martyred champion of the oppressed thus been restaged and reworked into countless literary pieces. Through Winston s performance as Antigone, Fugard is able project ideas of Western liberal humanism to an apartheid ridden South Africa, constituting to a form of heroic resistance against racial oppression. Fugard specifically focuses on The Trial and Punishment of Antigone scene where the play climaxes. Through the use of metatheatre, he highlights the power of stage performance, in this case demonstrating Winston s action in the play within a play has abilities to transcend through reality and affect us, the audience. This is done by creating an intentional slippage between the division level of reality, the stage and the stage on stage. In Sophocles original work, Creon symbolise the state law and Antigone the will of the Gods, underlining the fact that state law is not absolute, and can be broken through civil disobedience hence suggesting there is a higher law of humanity. Less than a month after the horrific attack, the National Security Agency (NSA) started a special collection program with intentions to track communications among suspected terrorists and Al Qaeda leaders. Then on October 4, 2001, President George W. Bushauthorized the NSA to monitor domestic communications in order to track down suspected terrorists. Two problems shortly arose from Bush s decision: the fact that his authorization to NSA was carried out in secret and also that monitoring the domestic communications was done without a warrant. This proved to be illegal since the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Actstates that the government is prohibited from eavesdropping inside the United States without first getting a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA court). In order to counteract the issues he had caused, on October 26, 2001 Bush signed the Patriot Act; a law that would expand the government s electronic surveillance powers. As a result of his outward appearance, the creature s attempt at humanization resulted in the denial of basic rights. Nominated by Andrew Jackson s Democratic Party for the U.S. House of Representatives, Houston won the election by getting 100% of the votes. Not uncommon for politicians in the time period, Sam Houston badly wounded General William A. White in a duel fought 6 miles south of Franklin, Kentucky. A1. Why Action is Necessary This action is necessary because the student involved is not showing academic growth and having anxiety with attending school. Attendance has decreased because the student does not want to attend school due to issues with the classroom teacher, as well as other students within this class. Because of the attendance drop, this student s grades have also shown a decline in all subject areas. The parents are requesting that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Use of Collegial Resources Collegial resources that will be used will be dependent on what is included within the action plan. The area director of curriculum and instruction, as well as the student s former administration team will be asked to be a part of the group. The former administration team is important to include in the development of the action plan because they can bring in resources that have worked within their own school with this student. They can also provide insight on what strategies may not work when developing the plan. The area director will be an important part of the team because she will be able to offer resources that are used in other area schools. This will allow the team to create a variety of strategies that may not be available within the student s school. D1. • 43. Daniel Captivity In 605 B.C during Jehoiakim s reign, the Babylonian s king Nebuchadnezzar took Daniel and his friends as captives when he besieged Jerusalem. Daniel was taken captive because he fit in the standards, which the king was searching for: young men, good looking and smart. During the time of captivity, Daniel, the author of the book of the Bible with the same name, writes about the dreams, visions and situations he passed in the course of the captivity. Indeed Daniels actions reflected the way he faced the situations, showed how he feared and was obedient to God, even when he was placed in a room full of lions or into a furnace of blazing fire. The story of Daniel begins in the third year Jehoiakim s reign when he was taken captive from Judah... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Daniel s character was tested when he decided not to eat the king s food and proposed to the commander of the officials to eat something different to see they would be healthier and better looking than the ones eating from the king s chosen food. After a week eating vegetables, Daniel was healthier and better looking than the other youth. By choosing not to eat the food from the king s table Daniel was being obedient to God s word because the food chosen by the king was dedicated to the Babylonian s gods, probably were from unclean animals and the blood was not taken out. Daniel received the name Belteshazzar because of the Babylonian s gods either Marduk, or Nebo conceivably to incorporate the culture of the Babylonians and their pagan s gods. God provided Daniel with intelligence, wisdom and a special gift: the understanding of all kinds of visions and dreams and as a result of that, Daniel was the one God chose to interpret the dreams of, the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. What strengths and/or weaknesses would you highlight to Adeline Koh? 2. Forecast the firm s financial statements for 2002 and 2003. What will be the external financing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company needs an infusion of capital in order to maintain the actual growth rate. It is unlikely the firm would recover unless inventories are reduced, especially in the context of weakened demand for CD ROMs and the associated risk of having to deeply discount or even write them off. Another item to correct is the Production costs and expenses, currently running at 50% of the revenue. The management has expressed concerns with outdated packaging equipment and the use of the more expensive second and third shift to catch up with production. An investment here would probably turn profitable in the context of healthy sale numbers. Key Driver Assumptions Sales is one of the major key driver assumptions because so many assumptions are based on a percentage of sales. As sales increases, so do production costs, admin and selling expenses, accounts receivable and inventories. Koh assumes that a 15% year over year growth is expected. This is a risky assumption since the market is moving away from cd technology to dvd technology. Star River has little capacity to support future dvd demand without taking on additional manufacturing investments. Inventories are a staggering 60% of sales and are full of soon to obsolete inventory.

If you do not like the actions of your local school board, you can vote against your local school board member in the next election. This is democracy at work. Understanding that there is no such thing as a one size fits all education, it is necessary for a local government control of education with minimal state control because unions still need to have the power to protect their members, every school district is different and has different needs, and democracy is necessary in our society. The teachers union has been around for many years. The first union was founded in, 1857: The National Education Association (NEA) is founded in Philadelphia by 43 educators (Mader, 2012). With a local school board in charge of a district s education, teachers unions can have a greater ability to bargain, educate, and protect their members. School boards are there to help be an in between for the tax payers and the schools. School systems sometimes make promises they have no intention of keeping. Other times, they can deliver a world of opportunities to our neediest children. They may or may not want to listen to parents or even teachers, but school systems always attend to the demands of the most powerful individuals and institutions in their communities. (Koonce, 2016, p. 204). Having a good relationship between the school board and teachers union is a very big deal. A bad relationship
