Cholera Outbreak in South India in Association with...
Cholera outbreaks have been frequently reported from various parts of developing world mainly
owing to poor sanitation of potable water. Most of its outbreak has been reported during monsoon (1).
However, the outbreaks are not restricted to this period. Cholera outbreaks have also been reported in
refugee camp, prison, funeral feast, etc., (2). Cholera is caused by two serogroups of Vibrio cholerae
O1 and O139. Among them O1 has two biotypes Classical and El Tor. Classical biotype was
completely replaced by El Tor Vibrio cholerae over the past few decades and almost all of the cholera
outbreaks recently reported were belongs to El Tor biotype (3, 4, 5). A similar outbreak emerged in the

A total of 66 stool samples obtained from the patients who are suffering with acute watery diarrhea
were bacteriologicaly investigated for cholera at the Department of Microbiology, Government Theni
Medical College during the period of 9 days (12th May 10 to 20th May 10). Among the 66 stool
samples 42 were collected from the patients admitted to Government Theni Medical College Hospital
and the remaining 24 were referred from various Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) of Theni district.
Among the total of 66 samples examined 37 were found to be positive for V. cholerae by culture. All
the isolates were identified as Vibrio cholerae belongs to O1 Serogroup El Tor Biotype and Ogawa
Serotype by follow up tests. Antibiotic susceptibility pattern of the isolates were found to be similar
among all the isolates. All the isolates were resistant to ampicillin but sensitive to co trimoxazole and
chloramphenicol and 11% of the isolates possessed resistance to tetracycline (Table 1). The present
study results correlate well with the report of Chandar et al (8) from north India. Importantly, the
culture confirmed cases presented were only the tip of the iceberg, because more than 700 cases were
admitted to Government Medical College, Theni and many number of cases also admitted in Primary

The Traditions of Western and Chinese Cultures Essay
ABSTRACT: In European atomic theory, Euclid s geometry and Aristotle s logic complement each
other and are generally acknowledged sources of Western science. In China, the book Zhou Yi is the
source of Chinese science because it system contains a unity of philosophic, logical and mathematical
thinking. These two systems form the core of the scientific models of the Western and Chinese cultural
traditions. In political and ideological arenas, the Western is a contract model based on the individual,

Summary Of The Art Of Failure By Malcolm Gladwell
The Art of Failure
In the essay, The Art of Failure by Malcolm Gladwell we are given the meanings of choking and
panicking while being in a stressful situation. Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us
other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell
starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress
when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the
championship; she lost it when choking took over her.
As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her
touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author
describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell
gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress
begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of
what they are doing.
The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch,
who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble
throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode,
throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also

Juvenile Delinquent Crimes
What is considered a juvenile delinquent? Criminal courts would say that a juvenile delinquent is a
child that is between the ages of 7 to 14 years of age. Nowadays, 14 year old children can be charged
with certain crimes that may be handled like adults. Today, many states determine that a child is
considered to be a juvenile until the age of 18; however, in some states they set limits at 16 and 17
years of age. Under the age of 18, many offenses are considered juvenile delinquency. We see that
crimes that are committed by juveniles have increased with violent crimes, drug crimes, gangs, and
many more. With this in mind, some may argue to charge the juvenile as an adult based on the
seriousness of the crime. These delinquent acts are considered to be crimes that may be committed by
adults or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

23% of offenses committed by females are status offense verses the 4% of boys. Both are juvenile
court jurisdictions; however, more serious crimes may be subjected to criminal court and even prison.
Multiple factors exist through understanding what leads a juvenile to delinquent behavior. Biological,
sociological, and psychological factors hold high merits in explaining crime to delinquency. Some also
study that age definitely factors closely to offending behaviors. Children with traumatic backgrounds
can exhibit symptoms such as anxiety and/or depression. This typical behavior amongst juveniles is

Group s Decision Making Process
Group Reflection Paper
Group projects challenge students to not only accomplish a more difficult task, but accomplish it
while working in groups. For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style and the
importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my group s
decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process went hand and
hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which
sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group
members before moving forward. Since my group worked together harmoniously, this was never a
problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from people simply wanting to go along to
get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem was we had too many good ideas to
choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even so, after discussing which idea worked
best for our project, we d go with the majority vote. Everyone remained civil, and expressed
appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration worked in our favor when making decisions. I
acted like the spokesperson in my group. Typically, I would ask the group what our goals were for
meetings, when future meetings would be, and how to proceed after accomplishing small tasks. As I
mentioned earlier, we made decisions as a group, but I found I addressed the problems or conflicts to
the group. Keeping my

Unemployment And The Rate Of Unemployment Essay
Rate of unemployment The definition of Unemployment is given by International Labour
Organisation (ILO) and adopted by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) as A person aged 15 years
and over is considered as unemployed if he/she do not work at all during the preceding week of the
survey (even an hour in the reference week) and is actively looking for work or is available for work
but do not work due to temporary illness or because there is no work available . The rate of
unemployment increased in Bangladesh during the 10 year period (1999 2000 to 2010). According to
Labour Force Survey, 2010 the rate of unemployment stood at 4.5 percent in 2010 which was 4.3
percent in 1999 2000. Furthermore, one of the most crucial findings is that the rate of unemployment
for female has been decreasing; on the other hand, this rate has been increasing for male in the
mentioned period (Basak,2013). For the female, the rates of unemployment were 7.8 percent and 5.8
percent in 1999 2000 and 2010 respectively, whereas those were 3.4 percent and 4.1 percent for male
for the corresponding years. Moreover, this rate was significantly higher in urban areas compared to
rural areas in 2010. In rural areas, the rate of unemployment was only 4 percent, whereas at urban
areas, it was 6.5 percent. besides this, the rate of unemployment increased with the increase of
educational level up to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent levels. After that, this rate

Essay On Homeless Veterans
All throughout the country, veterans come back into society struggling to continue living out their
lives. They have troubles adjusting back into civilian life. These former soldiers went out onto that
battlefield to fight for us, so the least we can do is show our support and help make their adjustment
back into civilian life as smooth as possible. I believe there are four main issues that are most
important in regards to the challenges returning veterans face: homelessness, suicide attempts, a need
for job training and jobs, and the fixing of the disability system. Many veterans coming back from
deployment struggle with homelessness. This issue is one of the most urgent problems our veterans
face. According to Rosanne Haggerty, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of these 68,000, nearly 14,000 have been living without a home for more than a year and suffer from
at least one chronic illness that is too costly for them to treat. This is a problem. With our support, they
can escape homelessness! The men and women who have fought for this country deserve more than
just a sidewalk or bench to live on. They risked their lives for us to have the freedoms we have and
stay protected from our enemies. They deserve more. Luckily, there is a solution. One idea I think
would be effective, and one that was stated in the article, To Cut Veteran Homelessness, Cut the Red
Tape, is a ... need to make federal housing assistance for homeless veterans easier to access and use.
Many veterans who try to apply for this housing assistance have to add as much as a year to their
housing process. This is unacceptable. This assistance should be used to help and smooth their
transition to affording a house, not make it longer, more hectic, and more difficult. Let us not forget
that while these veterans are waiting to be approved for a house, they are still out on the streets
homeless. The most successful veterans assistance program in the United States is the Veterans Affairs
Supportive Housing. This is a solution to the

12 Monkeys and Society s Perception of Drugs Essay
Illegal Drugs vs. Psych Ward Drugs
The definition of drugs ranges from supposedly positive to automatically classified as negative. But

part it is an Action, Thriller, Sci Fi. The two characters that the drugs affected the most were the main

The definition of a Drug according to dictionary.com is A chemical substance, such as a narcotic or
hallucinogen, that affects the central nervous system, causing changes in behavior and often addiction
and A substance used in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of a disease or as a component of a
medication. Being a controlled substance we automatically classify drugs as an illegal act that is not
often accepted. In our society today you can go to jail for possession and possession with intent to
supply. Our generation is receiving years in jail or the misuse and overdose of drugs. Drugs are abused
everyday by teens and adults and often looked down upon. Numerous accidents have occurred do to
the abuse of some drugs. Drugs in our society today are initially thought of as bad, and then we come
to the understanding that there are other types of drugs that may in fact not be bad but used for good.
Illegal drugs are portrayed in our society as really bad, but the use of drugs is abused in psych wards
and other facilities also. From previous research I learned that Thorazine is an antipsychotic drug,
used as a major tranquilizers. So it is ok for our government and other higher authority to allow the

interdependence. When most people think of leaders they do not think about them needing to depend
on anyone. Some would even think of it as a weakness, a concept I have myself had to overcome. In
my mind, I associated interdependence with being weak in character.
Character before this course defined to me as moral fineness and steadfastness. However, this course
changed my concepts of exactly what character and characteristic of self, of a followers and leaders
were. I now understand their relevance to leadership, followers and organizations. Hencley wrote
about leadership theories approach maintains that leadership is determined not so much by the
characters of the individuals as by the requirements of social situation (Gujral 2012, p. 108). Instead of
only thinking in terms of personal character traits, I now recognize that there is distinguishing
characteristic between in most everything like social, leadership, followers, and situations as well as
personal. Merriam Webster (2015) defines characteristic as, a distinguishing trait, quality, or property
and character as, the complex of mental and ethical traits marking and often individualizing a person,

Argument Of Eating Dog Meat
Have you ever eaten dog meat? Every year in the summer, there is a hot potato that heat up the

others say it should be legalized to eat the dog meat. The opinion and the reason why people agree or

And now, I will talk why it is problem to eat dog meat, why we should care about this issue as Korean,

The Head-Smashed-In Buffalo-Jump Site in South-West...
First explored in 1938, the Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump site in south west Alberta, Canada is an
archaeological goldmine. Named after a child who was watching the event unfold that was hit with a
falling buffalo, HSIBJ site tells a gruesome story. As one of the oldest and most preserved kill sites in
the world, HSIBJ is scientifically and anthropologically significant. For six thousand years, this site
was used by Plains People as a hunting ground, herding multiple buffalo off of a cliff to their deaths,
as a means of survival. The magnitude of the HSIBJ site helps shed light on the hunting patterns of
other groups that are still in the area today. SouthWest Alberta is part of a gorgeous landscape of
grassy plains and rocky cliffside. The east is covered in high grass and prairies, while the west is a
mixture of cacti, sage and short grasses. The plains people experience extreme weather cold, frigid
winters and scorching summers. Across the landscape are large herds of buffalo, bears, deer, antelope
and coyotes. The plains people were separated by patriarchal bands groups of 50 to 100 individuals,
connected by marriage or kinship. The men hunted, led religious ceremonies and were the medical
experts. Each band was lead by a single man, the headman who exemplified the behavior the plains
people wished to have. Each band had around 40 tipis made of animal hide, that were portable and

The Rural Economy Of Fiji
Sugarcane industry, today dominates the rural economy of Fiji and employs a large number of rural
population. The first sugar, introduced by the European colonists, was produced in Fiji in 1862 around
the flatland areas near Suva (now the capital city of the country) due to the availability of fertile
alluvial soils (FSC 2014). However, after the first few years the center of production shifted to the
rural western and northern parts of Fiji s two biggest islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu (also known
as the cane belt area ), due to the fact that sugarcane needs dryer areas for better quality of sugar to be
produced (Ward 1965; Mayer 1961). Whilst the majority of the growers are Fiji Indians, the land

Sugar contributed 8 percent of the Gross Domestic Production (Fiji Island Bureau of Statistics 2015).
In short, sugar industry is still vital for Fiji s economy and the significance of the industry is still
substantial to Fiji s rural economy (Paresh and Biman 2003).
For the purpose of this essay, the rural livelihoods of Fiji Indian sugarcane farmers will be discussed
in relation to the sustainable livelihood framework. Chambers and Conway (1992, p. 6) defines
sustainable livelihood as:
A livelihood comprises the capabilities, assets (including both material and social resources) and
activities required for a means of living. A livelihood is sustainable when it can cope with and recover
from stresses and shocks, maintain or enhance its capabilities and assets, while not undermining the
natural resource base.
On the other hand, Scoones (2015, p. 11) argues rural livelihood is more than agriculture and farming,
it includes off farm activities such as rural employment and migration as means of links to the urban
areas. This essay, thus, will first explore the livelihood assets of rural farmers, that is, the human,
physical, natural, financial and social capitals. Secondly, it will discuss the vulnerability contexts
affecting the farmers, such as, the shocks, trends and seasonality. Thirdly, this essay will look at the
livelihood diversification strategies for farmers and, finally it will conclude with recommendations for

you re itching to take the family somewhere new this holiday season, look no further than the

fanatics, including ice climbing, winter mountaineering, snowshoeing, and skiing. Yellowstone, on the
other hand, has a few more leisurely options, such as guided snowshoe and snowmobile tours,

Essay on “Dark Film” and Sunset Blvd.
Film noir, by translation alone, means dark film, and by that measurement Sunset Boulevard certainly
fits the genre. A gloomy story that follows a jaded and sarcastic protagonist, Joe Gillis from his initial
dire circumstances to his untimely death, Sunset Blvd. earns the description dark several times over.
But there is more to film noir than crushingly depressing plotlines. There are common motifs and
icons that are found in most film noirs, such as crime, dark alleys, guns and alcohol. Deeper than this,
film noir features certain visual elements, character archetypes, and themes that create a unique style
of film. Although some have argued that Sunset Blvd. fails to represent some of these elements, it has

Every piece of imagery, down to Norma Desmond s clutching, claw like hands is geared toward
eliciting an ominous and menacing feel. In frame #4, a long shot gives a view into Norma s mansion.
Her multitudes of portraits litter the area, and despite the large size of the room an oppressive, low key
lighting results in a close, claustrophobic atmosphere. The gothic style architecture and arching
windows along with the cluttered interior convey a feeling of something that once was great but has
fallen into disrepair. All this creates a perfect metaphor for Norma s fading fame and career, which is
the main purpose of the settings in film noirs. The dark themes and sinister storylines are mirrored
with great attention to detail in the visual aspects of a film noir.
Film noir employs several character archetypes to tell a story. Cultural changes and shifts in gender
roles of post WWII America unsettled men when many women refused to regress back into traditional
housewife tasks. This fear was manifested in cinema s femme fatale. Deceptive and manipulative,
femme fatales were there to seduce, betray, and destroy the film noir hero. Norma, along with being
deranged, is all of these things. She is at home in her eerie film noir setting. Her movements showing
her as a self absorbed echo of her career in silent era films and her voice and facial expressions set the
listener on edge. Joe Gillis

Theme Of Oedipus Rex And The Kite Runner
Over the history of man, stories have been told in many fashions, but even through all that time some
basic elements of storytelling hold true. For example, even though Oedipus Rex and The Kite Runner
were written hundreds of years and hundreds of miles apart, they still have similarities. They both use
irony, suspense and other writing methods to present a story in an entertaining and thought provoking
way. Also, between the two books they share major themes. The Kite Runner and Oedipus Rex share
the theme of guilt and shame, as illustrated in the stories ironies, climax, and by the protagonist
actions.
Both stories are full of ironies that contribute to the guilt and shame theme. Oedipus Rex is a prime
example of using dramatic irony to drive a story. Since the audience back when the drama was
released, they would have known the outcome of the story. So, throughout the story the audience
knows that he is guilty, as Oedipus follows down a path that will lead to this horrific realization. Much
of this dramatic irony is what makes the guilt he feels at the end all the more painful, for the audience
wishes does not find out. Also Oedipus s own accusations and condemnation against those guilty of
the murder is ironic when he discovers that he is guilty. Likewise, The Kite Runner uses irony to
further Amir s grief. The biggest form of irony in the book is the fact that Hassan was Amir s half
brother. This adds an additional level of shame for Amir. Now, not only does

Hair Additions
How we now see Hair Additions
With the benefits of technology, we now have a wide selection of wigs and hair addition to let our
creative minds wonder about all the way we can style and maintain these additions. There are many
lengths, styles, colours and textures of hair additions you could buy/rent. Wigs are also very cheap
compared to their ancestors and new age technology has allowed us to create wigs that are weaved to
create an ultra light and hyper ventilated wigs. The finish of the hair additions all depends on how you
maintain the hair e.g. heat damage whilst styling or styling /finishing products. The finish is also
dependant on the material; we typically see human hair additions or synthetic additions being used as
animal hair/plant fibres is no longer seen as necessary to use and there is no real demand for these
anyway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

down on synthetic wigs however these people are misinformed as a high quality synthetic wig can
look very natural and appealing. Synthetic hair is easily taken care of due to their quality of style
retention meaning they never have to be styled and unlike human hair the hair will never change form.
These wigs are also very cheap and low maintenance. To maintain a synthetic wig you would wash,
dry and then shake the wig out. The cons of a synthetic wig would be if one brought/rented a cheap

cannot be treated with heat unless you look to get a heat friendly synthetic wigs and finally you can t

Budgeting Is The Most Important Parts Of The Project...
Budgeting is one of the most important parts of the project planning process. Projects that come in at
or under budget when completed depends on it. Poor planning will lead to budget crisis where the
project could end up costing double or triple times the budget and delay the opening of a facility or
business by that same token; time is money. As Dr. Pace mentions, had the planners of the Irwin Army
Community Hospital paid attention to the budget planning, the sponsor might have realized the short

The scope of the project gets defined in the work breakdown structure (WBS), where the schedules are
planned, and resources are assigned; at which the project manager are more familiar and can estimate
more precisely to an agreeable point with the customers. Project scope has a great influence on the
accuracy of cost estimates (Ciraci Polat, 2009).
The delay and disruption caused by bad estimation may lead to project failure (Lee et al. 2009) or at
best to project management failure, that is, not delivering the project on time, within budget, and per
specifications (Khamooshi Cioffi, 2013). Projects that come in at or under budget when completed

The Hindu Temple Of Atlanta
A Hindu temple contains a very different religious experience compared to what I ve previously
experienced in the past. Perhaps the most obvious difference comes from just how individual it can be
compared to a group service for example. While there is a portion of the service that is led by a priest
for the vast majority of your stay the experience is really upon you and you alone. While there are
traditions to follow it s still a unique experience. During my attendance at the Hindu temple of Atlanta
I almost assuredly didn t follow all of the customs and traditions but nevertheless, did my best to at
least not offend my hosts. The experience was alien compared to anything else I ve ever experienced

The setup of this temple was similar to the other with deities lining the outer perimeter. In this area
after circling the building was led into an inner chamber with a few followers. Eight people were
placed to the right and the left of entry way to this sanctum and the priest was ritually chanting
something. After a time he began ritually feeding the deity by offering a small amount of liquid before
it s mouth before pouring it into a basin above. He then takes a flame and spins it around multiple
times. The priest then took a flame to each follower to hold their hands around. He then takes the
liquid from early and offers it to assembled people. They each take a sip of the liquid then splash the
remainder over their heads. The priest then takes a large ornate metal hat and places it on each
followers head. Then, fruit was given to each follower there some of children kept it while some of
them seemed to be used to give a food offering to some of the statues of deities. Upon leaving food
was serviced to guests in the form of a spicy rice. Lastly, upon going to leave I noticed that one of the
priests had gone outside with some food to offer it to a statue of a deity though, this wasn t a part of
the service directly It was clearly a part of their daily lives. Overall this was a very different type of
service compared to a christian service for example. To be honest I feel like not knowing Hindi made
it so a lot of the subtext behind the service was lost to

Kangaroo Care
Babies are born without a fully developed brain because if they were their precious little heads would
be too big to birth!
Despite their underdeveloped brain, we expect babies to sleep in separate rooms, self soothe and
assume too much crying would mean a serious problem.
In first three months of your littles one s life, their brain grows twenty percent!! This sizeable growth
is even more noticeable in your baby s behavior. In the first couple days of life, babies can only pay
attention to objects up to 12 inches away compared to 3 to 4 months later they can see objects across
the room and respond to the direction of different sounds.
This common knowledge is often ignored. These first 3 to 4 months should still be viewed as a
continuation of a gestational period. Mothers need to begin to mimic the actions of a mama kangaroo.

Analysis Of The Sum Of Our Follies
The Sum of Our Follies (2014) is a recent Malaysian fictional work written by Shih Li Kow. It is a
regional piece a addressing the most conspicuous thrillers of place s meaning and literary imagination.
The story hinges upon several episodes in a small town called Lubok Sayong and other replaces.
Furthermore, the plot includes a number of perennial actions which perpetuate the token of proximity
shared by the lives of Lubok Sayong s inhabitants who reciprocate their visions in an agnate
perspective on life. It is an inherent call for the common sense of human individuality in a collective
place uniting different ways of life. These people are the authentic human phenomenon in a fictional
setting. In fact, the story depicts real life images, such as contemporary Malaysian peripheries; and
challenged once again by socio cultural apathy, the specter of the story s fictional pluralism and the
affectionate buoyancy of Shih Li Kow who seems particularly instructive (Cross, 2006: 49).
The novel tells the story of a middle aged man called Auyong, or the narrator, and an orphan girl Mary
Anne. Auyong leaves his city and job as a supermarket manger in order to work in the town s lychee
canning factory. This circulates his destitution as a human being seeking perfection ... Show more

Point of View in Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill Essay
The narrator in the story Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield, is telling us this story in the third person
singular perspective. Our narrator is a non participant and we learn no details about this person, from a
physical sense. Nothing to tell us whether it is a friend of Miss Brill, a relative, or just someone
watching. Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill comes alive from the descriptions we get from this
anonymous person. The narrator uses limited omniscience while telling us about this beautiful Sunday
afternoon. By this I mean the narrator has a great insight into Miss Brill s perceptions, thoughts,
feelings, and into her world as a whole, but no real insight into any of the other characters in this story.
By using this point of view, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The details as told, seem to be coming directly from Miss Brill at times. The narrator gets us settled
into the park with Miss Brill and tells us that she sees those around her as odd, silent, nearly all old,
and from the way they stared they looked as though they d just come from dark little rooms or even
even cupboards! This tells me that Miss Brill sees herself differently than she sees others, not odd or
funny. She is a part of all this life and activity at the park! An actor in the grand play and somebody
would have noticed if she hadn t been there. She really loved to be out with others and thought that
she was very much a part of the world and not apart from it. Don t we all feel this way? Some people
are truly introverted and care little of interacting, but I think the majority of us strive to become part of
the world and at times feel like this life is one big drama and we have a big part. Our role might only
be important for one scene, but we feel like the leading man or woman at times. The narrator leads us
to what appears to be a fitting climax; a crescendo of music and song, with all players involved. Miss
Brill s dreams of this were quickly shattered. The comments by the young people, Why does she come
here at all who wants her? Why doesn t she keep her silly mug at home? leaves Miss Brill with the
cold realization that she is in fact like the odd, old people that she watches in the

The Machine Stops Summary
In Forster s dystopian short story The Machine Stops , the ways of communication are different from
the conventional practice. Most characters seldom communicate face to face, which is a way of direct
human contact they avoid. This leads to conflict between the characters. Vashti, Kuno s mother, finds
the conversation with Kuno a waste of time and remains unwilling to visit him until he insists. Kuno,
who seems to be a misfit in that world, wants to see his estranged mother, not through the Machine
which Vashti worships and heavily depends on. Other forms of communication also appear, such as
Vashti s monologue like lectures. The various forms of communication are similar in the way that they
usually end abruptly and unhappily. The unresolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Kuno asks Vashti for a visit, she instantly refuses and backs up with the reason that she
dislike[s] airships (Forster, 2) and the horrible brown earth, and the sea and the stars when it is dark
(Forster, 2), from which she get[s] no ideas (Forster, 2). By considering whether an activity allows
them to get ideas, it depicts how characters over rationalise their behaviours that should have been
done out of mere intuition. This foregrounds the theme of ideas being mechanical just like a machine.
Whereas first hand ideas and experiences are conventionally thought to provide the most intellectual
and reliable knowledge, the characters in the dystopian story value second hand ones more, such as
listening to lecture about the sea or reading the Book. That is why Vashti pulls the window blinds in
the airship to avoid seeing the scenery outside. As for Kuno, he tells Vashti that he believes otherwise
and passionately responds that he has a strong interest in looking at the constellation. The fact that
Kuno explores the surface of the earth is an excellent example of showing his engagement in
collecting first hand

The Belle Of New York Music Analysis
The late nineteenth century was a time of extraordinary theatrical bounty , and the initial stages of
nonsensical musical comedy. Shows that had loose plots concerning ordinary characters and settings
were prevalent. Most of which, would never experience American revival. (Musicals 101 Gay 90 s).
The Belle of New York, performed in 1897, was a part of this lighthearted musical comedy period.
When people ponder the Gay 90 s , The Belle of New York is unquestionably a show that comes to

Project Risk Management At Ernst And Young Next Summer
Problem 1
I decided to research the article Shift the Focus of the PMO From IT Project Risk Management to
Business Investment Risk Management. This topic interests me because I will be interning at Ernst
and Young next summer and will be primarily engaged in IT risk advisory, with an emphasis on
financial services. I want to develop an understanding of the type of work I will perform in this
position and believe this topic relates most appropriately to the position. The title suggests that the
article will be a higher level analysis, something I was looking for when choosing an article.
The article focused on the benefits of shifting the emphasis from IT governance to business change
governance. This aids the PMO to see the full scope of all the risks involved in projects and portfolios.
The article provided six classes for risks. These were technology risk, schedule risk, complexity risk,
operational risk, business risk, and organizational risk. Contrary to popular belief, multiple surveys
indicate that technology risk is rarely the most important factor for an initiative. These risks are then
weighed and reviewed for potential hedging options. The article concluded with the benefits of the
PMO delegating ownership. The PMO will maintain a higher level view of the project and gain
significantly improved chances for success. IT may in some cases retain an IT PMO as a subset of the
enterprise PMO, especially for IT infrastructure projects, but the emphasis on the enterprise

and damming and reduced water quality. Water management is the administration of water resourced
under thorough policies and regulations that ensure a sustainable supply of water for present and

Collectively, these are fundamental decisions in which we can improve upon the way we utilise water
as a resource. Individuals, by implementing these decisions, are addressing the issue of water
conservation through the reduction of water use, reducing water pollution and health risks whilst
educating themselves about matters that affect their water supplies (Bliss and Paine, 2010).
Consequently, individuals have been involved in the decision making process, in order to address the
issue of Water management. This is evident through the measures Australian individuals take to ensure
sustainability.
The effective management of water quantity is an urgent issue facing Australia. Therefore, in

The Value Of Characters In Great Expectations
I must be taken as I have been made. The success is not mine, the failure is not mine, but the two
together make me (Dickens). In this quote, Dickens is stating that a person is characterized by their
actions, sacrifices, and intentions. A person s overall character is a result of the choices they have
made. The sacrifices of characters in Great Expectations shows their values and how they affect the
people around them.
A character that has made major sacrifices in Great Expectations is Magwitch. Magwitch not only
gave up all his money, but all his time as well. After Pip gives Magwitch some stolen food, Magwitch
dedicates the rest of his life to serving Pip (14). Magwitch never forgets what Pip did for him and feels
like he is indebted to him and must remain loyal for the rest of his life (139). The sacrifice of
Magwitch s money and time proves his value of loyalty. Magwitch never shows a hint of doubt to Pip
and follows him faithfully wherever he goes. Even though Pip is disgusted by Magwitch at first,
Magwitch does not give up on fulfilling Pip s great expectations. Magwitch wants to see Pip as a
gentleman, but Pip never realizes what this fully means until Magwitch is taken away from him. When
Magwitch is captured, he tells Pip, I m quite content to take my chance. I ve seen my boy, and he can
be a gentleman without me. In saying this, Magwitch acknowledges that Pip has finally chosen his
values and can make the right choices on his own(193). Magwitch also proves

Aristotle Happiness
Aristotle is a well known philosopher whose views on virtue differ from other philosophers and whose
thinking about happiness involves human flourishing and well being. Aristotle wants Aristotle does
believe that there is a higher good of human action: this is happiness (Lear, 1988, p. 160 61).
Happiness comes in many different ways and is different for every person. The way that a person
defines happiness is where it gets complicated because sometimes a person defines happiness in a way
that is not thought of as a good thing. Pursuing genuine happiness and a virtuous like, to Aristotle, are
essentially the same things. If you want to pursue one, you must want to pursue the other as well

Gladwell starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the championship; she lost it when choking took over her. As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style and the importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my group s decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process went hand and hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group members before moving forward. Since my group worked together harmoniously, this was never a problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from people simply wanting to go along to get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem was we had too many good ideas to choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even so, after discussing which idea worked best for our project, we d go with the majority vote. Everyone remained civil, and expressed appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration worked in our favor when making decisions. I acted like the spokesperson in my group. For example, even though Oedipus Rex and The Kite Runner were written hundreds of years and hundreds of miles apart, they still have similarities. They both use irony, suspense and other writing methods to present a story in an entertaining and thought provoking way. Also, between the two books they share major themes. The Kite Runner and Oedipus Rex share the theme of guilt and shame, as illustrated in the stories ironies, climax, and by the protagonist actions. Since the audience back when the drama was released, they would have known the outcome of the story. So, throughout the story the audience knows that he is guilty, as Oedipus follows down a path that will lead to this horrific realization. Much of this dramatic irony is what makes the guilt he feels at the end all the more painful, for the audience wishes does not find out. After a time he began ritually feeding the deity by offering a small amount of liquid before it s mouth before pouring it into a basin above. He then takes a flame and spins it around multiple times. The priest then took a flame to each follower to hold their hands around. He then takes the liquid from early and offers it to assembled people. They each take a sip of the liquid then splash the remainder over their heads. The priest then takes a large ornate metal hat and places it on each followers head. Then, fruit was given to each follower there some of children kept it while some of them seemed to be used to give a food offering to some of the statues of deities. Upon leaving food was serviced to guests in the form of a spicy rice. Lastly, upon going to leave I noticed that one of the priests had gone outside with some food to offer it to a statue of a deity though, this wasn t a part of the service directly It was clearly a part of their daily lives. Whereas first hand ideas and experiences are conventionally thought to provide the most intellectual and reliable knowledge, the characters in the dystopian story value second hand ones more, such as listening to lecture about the sea or reading the Book. That is why Vashti pulls the window blinds in the airship to avoid seeing the scenery outside. Project Risk Management At Ernst And Young Next Summer Problem 1 I decided to research the article Shift the Focus of the PMO From IT Project Risk Management to Business Investment Risk Management. This topic interests me because I will be interning at Ernst and Young next summer and will be primarily engaged in IT risk advisory, with an emphasis on financial services. I want to develop an understanding of the type of work I will perform in this position and believe this topic relates most appropriately to the position. The title suggests that the article will be a higher level analysis, something I was looking for when choosing an article. The article focused on the benefits of shifting the emphasis from IT governance to business change governance. This aids the PMO to see the full scope of all the risks involved in projects and portfolios. The article provided six classes for risks. These were technology risk, schedule risk, complexity risk, operational risk, business risk, and organizational risk. Contrary to popular belief, multiple surveys indicate that technology risk is rarely the most important factor for an initiative. These risks are then weighed and reviewed for potential hedging options. The article concluded with the benefits of the PMO delegating ownership. The PMO will maintain a higher level view of the project and gain significantly improved chances for success. In this quote, Dickens is stating that a person is characterized by their actions, sacrifices, and intentions. A person s overall character is a result of the choices they have made. The sacrifices of characters in Great Expectations shows their values and how they affect the people around them. A character that has made major sacrifices in Great Expectations is Magwitch. Magwitch not only gave up all his money, but all his time as well. After Pip gives Magwitch some stolen food, Magwitch dedicates the rest of his life to serving Pip (14). Magwitch never forgets what Pip did for him and feels like he is indebted to him and must remain loyal for the rest of his life (139). • 38. How Online Brand Communication And Customer Engagement... Research Question: How online brand communication and customer engagement influence a consumer s decision purchase. The marketing strategy of branding is not a new concept. A company s brand is not a logo, or a tag line, but rather the relationship it has with its customer base, it is in essence not how a company defines itself but how the public defines it. With every interaction and every customer touch point a business shapes its brand identity, and participants in this exchange are known as a brand community. Where the development and monetization of the internet have allowed businesses to expand into new forms of customer engagement, these types of online interactions can be the deciding factor in a consumer s ultimate decision to purchase and/or become brand ambassadors. Through research on business social media strategies, cultivating online communities and curating content via corporate websites and paid advertising I hope to discover how this type of business to consumer communication supports and replacement to the in person shopping experience. Additionally, how these types of communications weigh against a consumers ultimate decision to purchase, focusing how these online communications is utilized as a means to expand consumer brand interaction To provide a rounded perspective, in addition to the eight required academic sources I selected supplemental, industry based materials as a means of delivering a robust framework for strategies on brand loyalty and ...
