Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians.
Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians has been a topic issue for quite some
time now. Throughout the years it has been questioned as to wether or not the French and English
speaking Canadians have the potential ability to be together as a nation. Various votes have been held
in order to try and establish what the people of Canada feel about this situation. However, the history
of the English and French speaking Canadians prove that Canada is an impossible nation. Foreign
Policies, such as the Naval Services Bill, the Boer War and Conscription all contribute to why Canada
is an impossible nation. Political Issues involving the Constitution Act, 1982, the Referendum Act
Two, 1995 and the Clarity Act are three other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The unilateral partition of the constitution and the refusal of other provinces to back Quebec further
alienated French Canadians. Consequently, this endured the tensions
between the nation to rise even higher than they already were because it had been stated that many
provinces didn t agree with the French Canadians and that made them subsequently bitter. Many agree
that it is getting to the point that Quebec should separate from Canada. One in three Canadians support
this statement. That is where the Referendum Act Two, 1995, takes a role in the dispute over French
and English speaking Canadians. After voting on it, the English speaking Canadians prepare to keep
Quebec in Canada. Yet, 32% said that they d rather see Quebec leave. When asked how they d vote if
another referendum took place with the same question, 49% of the people voted yes, and 42% of the
people voted no. While another referendum on secession is not the wish of the people of Canada or
some of the people in Quebec, the stated intention is to get Quebec independence. The Clarity Act was
the PQ s plans to hold another referendum. They want to create a winning conditions and that is what
they intend to do. The government of Canada has the right and obligation to indicate what, in a
referendum on secession, it would consider to be a clear majority on a clear question. In conclusion it
is proved that due to the Constitution Act,

Hidden Violence The word gang everyone knows what it means or what it stands for. Of course by the
time children get to the end of their elementary years they ve heard of know gangs such as; the Cribs,
Bloods, Latin Kings, Vatos Locos, but none of those names cause as much fear and terror as the gang
called La Mara Salvatrucha aka MS 13. La Mara known for their psychotic methods of killing and
running their turf, no other gang comes close to causing the same fear as La Mara Salvatrucha (ms

Arkansas, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Maryland, Virginia,
Georgia, and Florida just alone in the United States. In Central America they can be found in El

most dangerous and organized in the world (altereddimensions.net).There are two ways to get into the
gang. For males one is to get jumped in, which means the new recruit is surround by numerous
members and beaten for at least 13 seconds. The other way is by killing either an enemy gang member
or just a simple killing. For females there is a third option which is to get having sexual intercourse
with several MS members or as they call it gang banged. MS 13 has many similar criminal
characteristics as other gang such as: smuggling drugs, people, and weapons. The biggest difference
with MS 13 is the willingness to use brutality in all their activities (keysaferschools.com). All of the
MS 13 activities were kept low profile very well. Unlike many gang which us guns, knives, and ropes
to hang their victims, La Mara Salvatrucha uses machetes, which have become their weapon of choice
(ms 13gang.com). From the start gang members only wore white,

Relationship Between Stakeholders And Stakeholders
In the modern era of marketing, brand management has proved its importance by being a widely
discussed topic. While brand value was primarily connected with customers only, its importance into
non customer areas has been acknowledged. Brand equity and brand value are argued on their relation
with relevant stakeholders. In this assignment I am reflecting on the importance of managing these
stakeholder relationships.
Stakeholder management has been recognised as a central part of an organisation s effectiveness.
Stakeholders play important roles as advocates, sponsors, partners and agents of change. Much has
been written about stakeholder relationships in the private sector and many companies now have
dedicated relationship managers and strategies in place to improve and develop external relationships.
However, stakeholder management in the brand management still lags some way behind (Ipsos 2009).
Building a successful brand is effective if brand value is generated. Through the relationship
performance between the relevant stakeholders and the brand, brand value can be created. Jones
(2005) suggests, that one should acknowledge two key points while accessing the stakeholders:
1. Network of relationships / dependency upon multiple stakeholders,
2. Value assessment on the basis of each individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reputations are crucial. While they are hard to win, they are equally easily lost. Understanding
stakeholders helps to build stable relationships and, ultimately, to accomplish your objectives (Ipsos
2009). Research shows that strong reputations, i.e. trust and good communications are key for
consumers to listen and follow companies. This is clearly demonstrated by well known companies that
create strong reputations based on clear values and cultures: innocent drinks, Coca Cola and Toyota, to
name just three (Ipsos

Public Shaming
The flip side of Internet Fame is an essay written by Jessica Bennett. In this essay, Jessica Bennett
talks about our modern culture and the effects of public shaming. She starts the essay by using Star
Boy as an example. She then states, Among the generation that s been reared online, stories like this
are becoming more common (Bennett 90). As a person who uses technology in everyday life, I can
strongly agree that public shaming is becoming a big issue. Some people might see it as entertainment,
but the victims of public shaming see it as humiliation and harassment. Public shaming can spread
through many ways, such as the use of technology, online videos and certain websites. One reason
why I believe that Public Shaming is a big issue is because of the use of technology. Daniel Solove, a
law professor that is mentioned in the essay, says, Anybody can be a celebrity or a worldwide villain
(Bennett 91). In today, s society technology such as cell phones allow you to record incidents and
upload them to any social media. This is a form of public shaming because most of the time, people
use technology to embarrass other people. People can use their own cell phones to record others doing
an act that might seem either malicious or embarrassing. Jessica Bennett uses Dog Poop Girl as an
example. In 2005, a girl had a public role of Dog poop girl after she refused to clean up after her dog
on a subway. Jessica Bennett says, A minor infraction, perhaps, but another

Dichotomy In Do The Right Thing
Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee is a film that acts as a call to action for the audience to
differentiate what doing the right thing actually means. New York City in 1989 was filled with issues
of race and class. Crime rates were high and one of the highest recorded in history only second to the
preceding year of 1990. Cases like the central park five where african american youths and other
minorities were falsely accused of crimes, caused for unjust views of the justice system designed to
protect these people as opposed to persecuting the innocent in the most blatant and obvious ways.
Along with false accusations within the system, New York City was also filled with police brutality
stories. The organization has collected information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malcolm s approach to racial injustices is that the solution is violence with violence. While MLK s
perspective is one of peace and assembly. This film uses those contrasting community pillars to once
again beg the question of what the right thing is in a situation that asks an individual to choose. This
major subtext part of the film are prime examples of duality and dichotomy. Malcolm X is known for
his radical and violent views during the racist culture during the time of the civil rights movement
until he died. His philosophy never forgotten and was often still practiced. He once said, Tactics based
solely on morality can only succeed when you are dealing with basically moral people or a moral
system The morality of the system is definitely tested during the 80s where as previously stated, the
system is constantly testing within the injustice of the justice system when it comes to african
americans. Malcolm X was a man of action and Buggin Out would be his parallel. Throughout the
film he is a character of action, when he decided to boycott Sal s there is no stopping him, even after
Jane tells him that his passion could be used in more positive ways. He follows through with the
boycotting and the audience can see how violence affects the situation in the neighborhood as a

The Importance Of Maths
For many students, maths is a language only spoken at school, but maths is a well spoken language in
my home. My mother s love for maths has inevitably infected me with the desire to solve problems
with logical reason. I feel that a solution to one question in maths may open up more questions
ranging in different domains of mathematics. Maths has helped me to discover different ways to
achieve solutions through alternate thinking and this is reminiscent of everyday life, where it is
advantageous to use effective and more efficient routes to overcome problems. I find that maths can
be embedded into many aspects of life, e.g. using the Pythagoras theorem to aid in designing a room.
Also, in biology, to find the variation in the distribution of a species, you can use standard deviation.
Maths encourages me to delve into divergent thinking. It thrills me that there is always more to learn
and the knowledge is never capped. Maths to me has acted as a mechanism for calming my busy
mind. For example, some people enjoy the tranquillity of music, whereas my music is maths.
Achieving the correct answer whenever I complete a maths question brings me great satisfaction,
which further increases my motivation towards further learning. I have always thought that once you
find that numbers are easy to work with, you develop an appetite to learn more about maths through
practice it will stick in your mind forever.
Chemistry works hand in hand with maths, it cannot work without it.

San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks Case
Apple vs the Government agency (FBI) in the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks case. Ethics and
Morality are defined as the distinction of right and wrong. On the other hand morals are also largely
based on the social values of good and bad. However, people tend to define them as the standards and
customs that guide the way of life towards good. In most cases of ethics and morality they are
referring to acts of both good and bad deeds. Nonetheless, in a recent case with the FBI vs. the
Government against Apple Inc. Company arose one of the key moral issues in the business world.
Apple refused to offer a backdoor to one of the iPhones considered to be of the terrorists. The ethical
issue involved two genuine values; privacy and security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apple mentioned also in their letter to their customers that they were against terrorism. They
continued to state that as a company they did everything in their power to help the FBI in investigating
this case and catch these criminals. However, Apple did not want to risk its customer s privacy
because it was found that most apple product users store data such as private conversations, photos,
music, notes, calendars and contacts, financial information and health data in their devices. Since
Apple operates their company based on certain values one of them being safeguarding their customer s
data, this prompted decision to deny the FBI the software or backdoor that would ve risked the privacy
of millions of iPhone users. The FBI however is willing to do just about anything to solve a case, one
that especially involves serious criminals investigates. Keeping this in mind you can see why the FBI
refused to think morally in favor of Apple and how this backdoor software would ve tarnished the
reputation and decreased business for this company. However it is concluded both of these parties did
what was ethically right for their independent situations, but as you can see what is ethically right for
one situation is not necessarily right for another

Doughnuts In America
Doughnuts, who does not like them? They are the iconic American breakfast, and it ceases to amaze
me how much in love people are with these delicious yet little deadly treats. It is not shocking at all
that Americans will do anything for food; it is quite amusing that they will drive to a Donut Bank
(Donut Bank 1), go through the drive through for some doughnuts. The least they could do is park
their car, get off their lazy butts and walk themselves into the Bakery to purchase the doughnut. Burn
three calories before eating two hundred. Not only are Americans using drive through for food, but
now people can go to the Bank and pick up prescriptions from pharmacies.
It is sad enough that Americans use drive through more than just walking in,

The Portrait Of Women During Persian Painting
The Portrait of Women in Persian Painting In contrast to public life, where women are largely absent
or heavily veiled, representations and portraits of women in Persian painting provide considerable
evidence for analyzing the social and cultural implications of these imageries. The research on Persian
painting lifts the veil from the face of women and reveals the importance, richness, and variety of the
representations of women. This research paper will mainly focus on the variation of characters of
women in Persian painting from three perspectives: power, love, and society, spanning from the
thirteenth century to the twentieth century. What should be noted is that the wide spread of painted
imagery seemed to contradict the Islamic aversion to figural imagery; however, the prohibition is
mainly against sculpture and the making of idols (Nashat and Beck, page). Therefore, the depiction of
women in decorative manuscripts or Persian paintings remained and enabled the development of
Persian painting as a whole. Additionally, these paintings were mainly produced for use within the
context of private life and were ordered by ruling classes to decorate interior spaces, and luxury
manuscripts were only accessible to an educated, selected few. (reference) Women in Persian painting
were portrayed in an idealized fashion with little expression of emotion, and the range of activities and
social roles played by women in society is reflected in a limited sense. With the repetition of

A Short Note On Hepatitis And Its Effects
HEPATITIS A:
It is a liver infection caused by Hepatitis A virus which is highly contagious. Hepatitis A viruses cause
the disease termed hepatitis A. Hepatitis A virus can be transmitted to others by contaminated stools
(feces), foods prepared by an infected person, contaminated water, and close personal contact (for
example, touching hands, sex), with an infected person but not by sneezing ,cough, hugging (without
skin contact) or by being near an infected person. Hepatitis A diagnosed by commonly available blood
tests .once Hepatitis A is affected you cannot get it again. Most of the people infected with Hepatitis A
recover completely. Hepatitis A infection never causes a long term (chronic) infection.
Symptoms of Hepatitis A:
1. Weakness
2. Fever
3. Loss of appetite
4. Vomiting
5. Joint aches and Pains
6. Fatigue
7. Jaundice (dark urine, pale colored feces, skin and yellowish eyes.
8. Diarrhea
9. In blood stream bile is removed and excreted through urine
Structure:
The hepatitis A virus is a Picorna virus. Picorna virus is non enveloped and contains a single stranded
RNA packaged in a protein shell. And it is having only one serotype of the virus. But multiple
genotypes exist.
Testing for Hepatitis A:
The time between exposure to the virus and the development of symptoms that is incubation period
varies from 15 to 50 days, with an average of 30 days. Hepatitis A virus is excreted for up to two
weeks before the onset of symptoms. Therefore, people with hepatitis A should

Social Phobia or Just Shyness
As pharmaceutical companies began advertising on television several years ago, many prescription
drug advertisements flooded the airwaves. One such drug was for the treatment of social anxiety
disorder, also called social phobia. In investigating the causes, symptoms, and treatment of social
anxiety disorder, I found that while drug companies and some researchers have hailed the unveiling of
a drug for social anxiety as an important step, others feel that the disorder is poorly defined and its
prevalence is exaggerated. Therefore, the following questions emerged: how did the diagnostic

The disorder typically begins in childhood, and the National Institute of Mental Health estimates that
3.7 percent of 18 to 54 year olds in the United States have social anxiety disorder, with women
diagnosed twice as often as men (1). Although researchers are not completely sure of the biological
basis of social anxiety, some believe that its basis may lie in the amygdala, a small portion of the brain
that controls fear response. NIMH scientists have also found a possible genetic component: through
research on mice, they have found a gene that relates to fearfulness (1). Additionally, hormones may
play a role, specifically fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels in women (4). Environment
may also be important, as people with social anxiety may learn the behavior from watching and
patterning those around them (1). Treatment may include the use of medications such as selective
seretonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), monamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and beta blockers
specifically for performance phobias. Individuals may also benefit from behavioral therapy, which
involves gradual exposure to feared situations (1).
However, some believe that the category of social phobia or social anxiety is not so clear cut. For
example, the diagnosis of social anxiety can be difficult because of its co occurrence with

Hard corals are hermatypes or reef building corals and need tiny algae called zooxanthellae
(pronounced zo zan THEL ee) to survive. Generally, when we talk about coral we are referring to hard
corals.
Soft corals such as sea fingers and sea whips are soft and bendable and often resemble plants or trees.
These corals do not have stony skeletons, but instead grow wood like cores for support and fleshy
rinds for protection. They are referred to as ahermatypes or non reef building corals and they do not
always have zooxanthellae. Soft corals are found in both tropical seas and in cool, dark regions.
Where do corals live?
Coral reefs are found in over 100 countries. Most reefs are located between the tropics of Cancer and
Capricorn, in places such as the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean, the Red Sea and the
Arabian Gulf. Corals are also found farther from the equator in places where warm currents flow out
of the tropics, such as Florida and southern Japan. Worldwide, coral reefs cover an estimated 284,300

Coral reefs grow best in waters with a temperature of between 21 and 29 degrees Celsius (70 and 85
degrees Fahrenheit). It is possible for soft corals to grow in hotter and colder places, but growth rates

Happiness. This sentence from the Deceleration of Independence is one of the most well known of
American documents. However, consequently we have all become comfortably numb to this statement

statement true. Due to the unceasing fight of men and women of three different groups, America was

George Orwell, Big Brother represents the darkness behind the Party. This dark symbolism is evident
in big brother s name using the principles of doublespeak, similarities between big brother and

Essay on Campaigns and Elections
Campaigns and Elections Political campaigns are very significant in American politics and elections.
It is the period before the electorate makes political decisions in the form of elections. The attention of
the citizens towards politics intensifies as the date of the elections draws near. The salience of voters
improves as the election date draws near and could manifest in the form of increased media attention.
Political discussions, campaign interest, strength of the intention to vote, and knowledge about the
candidates are other manifestations of increased salience of voters. Another indication of improved
intensity is the effort put by the candidates and their political parties in the campaigns. Parties increase

Candidates have a chance to present their ideas to the citizens through debates and other platforms that
are available for the candidates. It provides a platform for the citizens to debate important issues with

democratic politics, which requires the conscious participation of citizens. It provides a chance for
citizens to engage in political activity with others. Political campaigns enable the citizens to contribute

candidates who mostly make unambiguous statements thus conveying their message to the citizens

by most of the citizens. Because of the high level of attention accorded to the campaigns and the

Police Suicide And Its Effects
Introduction The primary purpose of this term paper is to talk about police suicide and whether or not
it is preventable. While police suicide is an huge issue, the public do not hear much about it nor have
enough information. Therefore, it is important to let the public know that it is an issue by spreading
awareness and creating prevention methods. Important questions that should be asked are : What is
suicide? Why are police officers committing suicide? How many police officers are committing
suicide? Can police suicide be prevented? Have guidelines been created in efforts to prevent police
suicide? How does the suicide of an officer affect other officers?

While conducting their studies, Chae and Boyle found that when multiple factors occurred it increased
the risk of an officer wanting to commit suicide (2013). Some of the multiple factors mentioned were
shift work, critical incidents, stress, and relationship problems (Chae and Boyle, 2013). While officers
may have suicide on their minds, most of them do not automatically commit suicide. According to
Nanavaty, some of the officers that have committed suicide have shown warning signs (2015).
Therefore, it is extremely important for the public, family, friends, and co workers to be able to
identify the warning signs so that an officer from committing suicide can be prevented.
Causes for Police Suicide What affects one person does not necessarily affect another person. Police
officers have different reasons as to why they commit suicide. There are many causes for committing
suicide such as depression, death, retirement, loneliness, stress, relationship problems, alcohol abuse,
burnout and physical pain. Most officers do not commit suicide because of just one cause in fact,
many officers experience more than one cause at once. Take for example depression, it is a serious
illness and because of it officers can lack motivation, not wanting to live, and have a lot of stress. The
officer could have stress because of what they have been exposed to such as trauma, irregular work

Be As You Are, By Mike Posner
In Mike Posner s song Be As You Are he shows the importance of individuality. As he sings about
being different, himself, he shows understanding of the pressures brought upon people who influence
individuality or are different. If your friends cannot stand you as yourself, it shows who they really
were and they wanted you for a different reason than you wanted. Even if nobody stands with you for
individuality, you will always be yourself and that s the best you that you can be. Hence, it is your
greatest achievement just to have individuality.
First and foremost, having belief in and having individuality can improve mood and emotion control.
With individuality and an increased mood, the path to ultimate happiness is revealed. In other words,

In similar terms, you won t have to care about fitting in or if you match and follow perfectly, because
it won t matter! As an illustration, in my third and last school, the one I m in now, I was too loud.
Now, two years since I came, I ve learned to control it more but it s not always easy. Sometimes, I slip
up but it s not uncommon for someone to slip up once, right? Anyways, I m not scared to be loud and I

Although some believe following someone else is best, this is a fallacy. Individuality is best because
you know who you are. Don t care about what others think, it s what you think that matters the most.
Being free to care about yourself is better than caring about what others think and following them.
When everyone is gone the only one there is you. Who will control you then? You will control
yourself so it s best to do that from the start than to follow others for no reason.
In conclusion, individuality is best. With an increased mood, leadership, and decrease in insecurities,
individuality is better than following others just to hit a brick wall or have opposite and harmful

Similarities And Mechanistic Theories Within A Pluralistic...
Counterfactuals and mechanistic theories present two distinct, although perhaps not incompatible
causal theories. In this paper, I will outline them, contrast their basic strengths, and finally aim to
argue in favour of a monist mechanistic account, in particular focusing on resolving two general
arguments against mechanistic theory to which the answer is commonly to adopt a pluralistic account.
Let s begin by considering our two causal accounts: First, counterfactuals centre on the notion that
alterations to the cause make a difference to it s effect. In this way, the relationship between the cause,
and the effect can be said to be causal so long as if I change the cause, the effect will be different.
Thus, if I were to throw a ball at a window, and it broke, then I could call the relationship between the
throwing of the ball and the window s breaking to be causal, so long as had I not thrown the ball, a
different effect (in this case, the window not breaking) would have occurred. By contrast, mechanistic
theory focuses on the identifiable linking processes between the cause and effect. Salmon, Dowe,
Machamer and Glennan all present accounts of mechanistic theory, however it is Glennan s approach
which I will focus on, as he has the most success in forming the underlying intuitions into clear
elements. He begins by identifying the component elements deemed necessary for a mechanistic
process, which includes the interaction of a series of parts, acting according to

Industrial Conflict
Which theories or theories of industrial conflict, if any, can best explain the state of industrial conflict
in Singapore? Justify your answer. This essay is based on the assumption that Singapore s industrial
relations tend to be pluralistic in nature. The pluralistic approach to employment relations as defined
by Bray, Waring and Cooper (2011) is that the employment relationship contains a potential to
conflict. Hence, the question is the extent of industrial conflict in Singapore and which theories can
support this. Industrial conflict is defined by Kornhauser et al (1954) as the total range of behaviours
and attitudes that express opposition and divergent orientations between industrial owners and
managers, on the one hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It includes information of the various Acts related to employment. Thus, workers are aware of their
rights as rules and regulations are carefully spelled out into by Singapore, Ministry of Manpower
2012. This includes the Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, Trade Union Act seen in the
appendix (Appendix pg2). This comprehensiveness and accessibility of dispute procedures makes sure
that workers understand their rights which lead to efficiency in times when workplace conflict does
arise. Yet, it is also because of such strict rules and regulations in Singapore that lead to the presence
of covert conflict in Singapore. The theory that relates to the extent of covert conflict in Singapore is
the Organisational Justice Theory. One antecedent to perceptions of organizational justice is the extent
to which employees feel that they are involved in decision making or other organizational procedures.
Higher levels of justice are perceived when employees feel that they have input in processes than
when employees do not perceive that they have the opportunity to participate (Greenberg Folger,
1983; Bies Shapiro, 1988). The culture in Singapore is one whereby respect to authority is of great
importance, as such employees would not dare to voice out their opinions so, there is minimal
involvement in the decision making process. To make things

Biography of Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston is considered as one of the greatest singers of our generation. According to the
Guinness Book of World Records, she holds the record of being the most rewarded female artist of all
time. I chose her as my topic, because she represents resiliency and tenacity, despite her troubled
experiences with drugs and her personal life. Whitney Houston comes from a family with an amazing,
musical pedigree; her mother, Cissy Houston, was a successful back up singer for Aretha Franklin and
Elvis Presley. Dionne Warwick is her first cousin and Aretha Franklin is her godmother. In 1983,
Houston was signed to Arista Records and music executive, Clive Davis, became her mentor and
helped launch her successful career. Whitney Houston was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If an individual wants to be in the entertainment industry, one must know who they are and to develop
a tough exterior, in order to overcome adversity and negativity. It is evident that Whitney was a people
pleaser and if she did not please everybody, then it would take a toll on her and as a result, provided
her with a lot of distress and pain. For this reason, possibly drew her into a realm of drugs and chaos.
Psychosocial development was created by Erik Erikson, in which, mentions that personality is
developed in a series of stages, throughout an individual s lifespan. In particular, the Identity versus
Role Confusion was a very profound stage to discuss, in regards to Whitney Houston s life. Even
though, she sold millions of records and won many awards, Whitney still felt empty in her personal
life. In turn, she turned to drugs, as a means of support and to ease the pain of her emptiness. She
mentioned in an interview with Oprah: I spent my life making records and touring the world in my 20
s and 30 s...I totally forgot about singing, I was focused on finding my young womanhood. (Winfrey,
interview, 2009). In the beginning of her career, Whitney was too busy promoting herself and getting
her out there to music executives, in order to start her career. Clive chose all of the songs for her to
sing and her mother picked the clothes that she would wear on stage. This poses a problem, because
Whitney did not have the

Gender Aspects Of Gender Roles
Gender roles are social and behavioral norms that are considered generally appropriate for a man or a
woman. America, as some describe it, is the land of great and equal opportunities for all, but the fact is
that women are somewhat degraded and reduced to stereotypical gender roles such as being seen as
only house wives instead of working, active women. Gender roles, he strong views of how a man and
a woman are supposed to act, work, and live all still exist in our day to day lives. They are deeply
embedded to most cultures. In some cultures it is so strong that, in certain circumstances, a man could
control a woman s life because of the deep beliefs in the pre modern gender roles. Women are
typically degraded in many places across the world. We see a lot of that in both The Namesake and
The Only Daughter. In The Namesake, Ashima was very lucky. She once thought to herself about how
other the Bengali wives do not have the amount of liberty she has. Ashoke gave Ashima the liberty to
pretty much do what she wanted as long as she fulfilled her role as his Bengali wife. Ashima is
portrayed as a woman who follows and respects Bengali s rules and culture, by taking care of her
children and husband. Even though Ashoke gives her a lot of liberty, she still follows Bengali gender
roles. In Bengali culture, there is a lot of male superiority. The wives have to do everything their
husbands tell them to. In Indian tradition, they have arranged marriages. The woman does not even get
to pick who she wants to boss her around for the rest of her life. Ashoke and Ashima s marriage was
arranged like most Bengali Indian marriages. Ashoke then had to move back to the US to finish his
education and pursue his career. Since Ashima was now a married Bengali woman she had to drop
everything and move to the United States with him. In Calcutta, Ashima was working toward a college
degree. She did not get to finish her degree due to getting married and having to move to the United
States so Ashoke could finish his degree. In The Only Daughter, the daughter was not paid attention
to. Her father only ever paid attention to the brothers. The daughter tried to impress her father to get
his attention. The daughter eventually

Statement of Purpose for a Masters Degree in Biomedical...
Letter of Motivation
Dear Madam or Sir,
After spending half a decade on developing state of the art financial and medical software, I am
thrilled by the prospects of taking my career forward through a distinguished master s degree from
your university. My passion for programming has taken me from an eventful bachelor s degree in
computer science, to an innovative professional career with one of the biggest conglomerate of the
world. Now, my zeal for learning medicine and its association with computers brings me here to you.
With this letter I wish to apply and state my motivation for admission to Biomedical Computing
(BMC) program. My objective is to become an expert in the dynamic field of computer aided medical
procedures and medical imaging.
I was intrigued by how programming could help me automate manual work, create utilities for
everyday needs and still be so much fun. Hence, I pursued undergraduate studies in computer science
and engineering. In my second semester, I presented a technical paper on minimally invasive surgery
using robotics. I was excited by the prospects that the use of robotics can help patients to recover
quickly with lesser operative distress. Later, I, along with three of my friends, conducted workshops
on 3D animation using 3ds Max software. At that time, a typical computer science graduate from my
university would work in the Indian software service industry. However, we decided to create
awareness about opportunities like Pixar and

D Day And The Effect On Bedford

28 October 2015
D Day and the Effect on Bedford, Virginia How can a small county have such a significant loss, and
still recover immediately after and in the future? D Day took a big toll on the population of Bedford,
Virginia on June 6, 1944. The events of D Day still influence this small community today. Germany
invaded northwestern France in 1940; however, the Americans entered the war in December 1942 and
formed an alliance with Britain. Adolf Hitler was aware of the threats of invasion and put Erwin
Rommel in charge of defense operations (History.com). In January of 1944, General Dwight
Eisenhower became commander of Operation Overlord. Since Britain and America were Allies, they
used the alliance to deceive the Germans. They made the Germans think they were attacking Pas de
Calais instead, they attacked Normandy. They also made the Germans think that Norway, as well as
other locations, were potential targets (History.com). The Allies used many tactics to help with the
deception, like fake equipment, a phantom army, and fraudulent radios. June 5th was the original day
for the invasion. Unfortunately bad weather caused the attack to be postponed until the next day. On
June 6th, at dawn, the Allied troops invaded Western Europe from the sea. The Allied armies spent
several months preparing for this large amphibious attack. In addition, air attacks were used to keep
German forces from moving troops in to protect the

The Different Types of Anemometers
Anemometers are meteorological devices sed to measure wind speeds and can commonly be found in
weather stations. They get their name from the Greek word for wind; anemos. Not only instruments
used in meteorology but also in aerodynamics instruments that take airspeed measurements are
described as anemometers. The first known description of an anemometer is said to be around 1450.
Measurements of wind can be taken in two different forms, the speed of the wind and the pressure.
However, there is a connection between these two. Anemometers can be divided into two different
classes, measuring the speed of the wind or the pressure. As there is a connection between wind speed
and pressure, an anemometer measuring the speed for example would still be able to provide
information on the pressure of the wind. There are several different designs of anemometers that exist
in the industry today, each using different methods to measure the speed or pressure of the wind.
Types of Anemometers
Cup Anemometers
Also known as rotational anemometers, cup anemometers are the simplest types of anemometers and
have been around for a very long time. The make up of these meters consists of a vertical central pole
and four horizontal arms at the top that have a cup attached to each of them. As wind presses against
these cups, the arms at the top rotate around the central pole. The speed of the rotation would
determine the speed of the wind. The speed of the wind is usually observed through digital

Every time I ride this bike I feel freedom. I get to ride around my beautiful neighborhood and go

The Dangers Of Incest Or Consanguineous Relationships
One may wonder what he or she would do with $2,000 to $500,000. However, some do not take into
consideration that that much money could be given to you as a fine if you marry someone to whom
you are related to. Incest is a form of sexual intercourse between two or more people one is related to.
Incest relationships or marriages can occur in two different ways ( Statutory Compilation Regarding
Incest Statutes. ). Incest can happen in a consanguineous relationship or from people who are related
by affinity. In some cases, incetuous relationships also may not be in the person s intent (Webster).
The laws on incestuous marriages are mainly in play because of the dangers of having children. Incest
can be a relationship known as consanguineous relationships. Consanguineous relationships are
people who are blood family ( Incests ). In this type of incestuous relationship, the information
between the two are typically held confidential because of the consequences that ... Show more

People who are in relation by affinity are typically step brothers and step sisters ( Factsheets: Incest. ).
Some even take it to the measurements of being related through adoption or marital status and even
people who are living in the same household, who could be related or not (Webster). Prohibitions still
exist in affinity relationships, but not as strictly as they do with consanguineous relationships. All
states have different laws, but the majority of them do not have laws on marrying relatives who are not
blood. Most states will prohibit any marriage closer than second cousins; however, in some, they only
prohibit marriage closer than first cousins (Webster). The Uniform Marriage and Divorce Act prohibits
all marriages on relatives, however, not all states are entitled to this act. If people were informed that
this act could be saving a life, then it may have been enforced in every

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Linocut
Linocut A block made of linoleum
Carving tools Paper fabrics
Linocut is a form of relief printing in which the artist cuts a design into the surface of the block. Then
a mirror image is created when the artist places a paper or fabric over the surface and presses down
with a hand or a roller. The raised parts of the piece transfer over on to the paper or fabric to create the
overall desired print. Linocut has both benefits and drawbacks as a form of printmaking. The major
benefit of this form of art is that it is softer than wood making it easier to carve and use. Another
benefit is that color can be added to the prints. However, there are several drawbacks of using linocut
such as linoleum wears down more quickly under pressure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The artist first coats the metal plate in an acid resistant substance known as ground and is drawn on.
The artist then uses a sharp tool or etching needle down to the plate. Hard grounds are employed for
finely detailed linear work. Soft ground can also be used, and virtually any tool can be used to expose
the plate and resembles crayon and pencil drawings (Sayre, 2012). Whichever ground is used by the
artist is then placed in an acid bath. The acid eats, or etches, into the plate where the lines have been
drawn; the longer the exposed plate is left in the bath, and the stronger the solution, the greater the
width and depth of the etched line (Sayre, 2012). An artist can also create a way in stopping out a
section by using varnishes or ground over the etched surface. Once the plate is finished being exposed
to acid, it is inked and printed. Etching has both benefits and drawbacks. Some of the benefits to
etching are that it is a fluid and free process and it is able to capture the sense of immediacy as a
sketch. However, some drawbacks to etching include it is a medium that requires calculations and
planning, an ability to manipulate chemicals, and a willingness to risk losing everything in order to
achieve the desired effect (Sayre,

Why do people do research? People research to find out facts and information, solutions to problems,
and instructions on how to do things better. It can be a great and useful tool, but you have to be really
careful of the sources you use because not all sources are credible. Doing research gives you a chance
to pursue your interests, to learn new things, develop your problem solving skills, and to find new
ways to challenge yourself. Working on a research project with fellow coworkers gives you the chance
work closely with one another and learn from a mentor, a faculty member, or other experienced
researcher. With a self initiated research project, you leave Berkeley with a product that represents the
distillation of your interests and studies, and possibly, a real contribution to knowledge.

How Significant Were the Nationalist Leaders in Changing...
How significant were the nationalist leaders in changing the relationship between Great Britain and
Ireland in the period 1815 1922?
Robert Pearce cites the work of outstanding nationalist leaders joining together to oppose the tyranny
of England and compelling her to retreat and abandon most of Ireland . Whilst O Connell campaigned
for the emancipation of Catholics, uniting them and bringing about political advancement, his
significance is questionable; after 1840 he had failed to bring about repeal. In comparison Parnell
finally made the image of Home Rule a realistic possibility and Collins who ultimately brought about
negotiations of the Anglo Irish treaty; effectively leading Ireland to freedom. In assessing the

Therefore we must consider that there are other aspects such as the Famine that were significant and
contributed to the changing of the Irish British relationship.
On the other hand, it was nationalist leader Parnell who brought about the whole issue of Home Rule
to the forefront of British politics and laid the foundations for a change in British Irish relations.
Parnell s astute ability to manipulate the Irish public allowed him to unite the various shades of Irish
nationalism together and unite them under one movement; the New Departure. This united movement
posed a direct threat and allowed him to exert extreme pressure on the British government . By 1879
Parnell had become president of the Land League and had forged and maintained crucial relations
with America. The American Irish relations were heavily responsible for funding the Land League,
which was crucial to Parnell s persuading of Gladstone to pass the Land Acts of 1881 which granted
the 3Fs, fair rent, free sale and fixity of tenure. The formation of Parnell s disciplined, pledge bound
party ensured the issues of Ireland would be present in British politics; as no british government was
singularly strong enough to govern without the support of the Irish with the IPP increasing their
number of MPs from 63 to 85. Tweedie even goes as far to suggest the results of the general election

Misconceptions Of Porn, Pornography, Crime, And Crimes And...
One of the biggest misconceptions of porn is the way that a penis is portrayed to the viewers. In porn,
the penis is generally viewed to be massive in size and or girth, which is a problem being that the
average penis size is 3.5 inches flaccid and 5.1 inches when erect (MacGill, 2016). But in porn the
penises tend to be at least 8 inches in length or more which is not a fair portrayal of what sex is like
and in many cases, could even be uncomfortable for the partner/s that the person is going to have sex
with. Which is not a fair comparison to either the viewer of the pornography or his partner due to them
felling inferior to the porn star or having feelings of not being as good at sex cause of the size of his
penis.
Another significant aspect of pornography is the woman being surprised by the size of the man s
penis. In most straight porn videos whenever the man shows his penis the woman is always surprised
by how big the man s penis is at times comparing it to her forearm or other body parts. As Lehmiller
says However most women say that a larger penis does not increase their ability to reach orgasm
(Costa, Miller Brody 2012). There are certainly some women for whom a bigger member is preferred
and may bring them more erotic pleasure, but this does not appear to be the case for most women.
(Lehmiller 373). In this quote, one can see that in fact not all women want a bigger penis because for
some women it may hurt to even attempt to have sex with such a large penis.

  • 2. Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians. Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians has been a topic issue for quite some time now. Throughout the years it has been questioned as to wether or not the French and English speaking Canadians have the potential ability to be together as a nation. Various votes have been held in order to try and establish what the people of Canada feel about this situation. However, the history of the English and French speaking Canadians prove that Canada is an impossible nation. Foreign Policies, such as the Naval Services Bill, the Boer War and Conscription all contribute to why Canada is an impossible nation. Political Issues involving the Constitution Act, 1982, the Referendum Act Two, 1995 and the Clarity Act are three other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The unilateral partition of the constitution and the refusal of other provinces to back Quebec further alienated French Canadians. Consequently, this endured the tensions between the nation to rise even higher than they already were because it had been stated that many provinces didn t agree with the French Canadians and that made them subsequently bitter. Many agree that it is getting to the point that Quebec should separate from Canada. One in three Canadians support this statement. That is where the Referendum Act Two, 1995, takes a role in the dispute over French and English speaking Canadians. After voting on it, the English speaking Canadians prepare to keep Quebec in Canada. Yet, 32% said that they d rather see Quebec leave. When asked how they d vote if another referendum took place with the same question, 49% of the people voted yes, and 42% of the people voted no. While another referendum on secession is not the wish of the people of Canada or some of the people in Quebec, the stated intention is to get Quebec independence. The Clarity Act was the PQ s plans to hold another referendum. They want to create a winning conditions and that is what they intend to do. The government of Canada has the right and obligation to indicate what, in a referendum on secession, it would consider to be a clear majority on a clear question. Of course by the time children get to the end of their elementary years they ve heard of know gangs such as; the Cribs, Bloods, Latin Kings, Vatos Locos, but none of those names cause as much fear and terror as the gang called La Mara Salvatrucha aka MS 13. La Mara known for their psychotic methods of killing and running their turf, no other gang comes close to causing the same fear as La Mara Salvatrucha (ms 13gang.com). The other way is by killing either an enemy gang member or just a simple killing. For females there is a third option which is to get having sexual intercourse with several MS members or as they call it gang banged. MS 13 has many similar criminal characteristics as other gang such as: smuggling drugs, people, and weapons. The biggest difference with MS 13 is the willingness to use brutality in all their activities (keysaferschools.com). All of the MS 13 activities were kept low profile very well. • 4. Relationship Between Stakeholders And Stakeholders In the modern era of marketing, brand management has proved its importance by being a widely discussed topic. While brand value was primarily connected with customers only, its importance into non customer areas has been acknowledged. Brand equity and brand value are argued on their relation with relevant stakeholders. In this assignment I am reflecting on the importance of managing these stakeholder relationships. Stakeholder management has been recognised as a central part of an organisation s effectiveness. Stakeholders play important roles as advocates, sponsors, partners and agents of change. Much has been written about stakeholder relationships in the private sector and many companies now have dedicated relationship managers and strategies in place to improve and develop external relationships. However, stakeholder management in the brand management still lags some way behind (Ipsos 2009). Building a successful brand is effective if brand value is generated. Through the relationship performance between the relevant stakeholders and the brand, brand value can be created. Jones (2005) suggests, that one should acknowledge two key points while accessing the stakeholders: 1. Network of relationships / dependency upon multiple stakeholders, 2. Value assessment on the basis of each individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reputations are crucial. While they are hard to win, they are equally easily lost. Understanding stakeholders helps to build stable relationships and, ultimately, to accomplish your objectives (Ipsos 2009). Research shows that strong reputations, i.e. trust and good communications are key for consumers to listen and follow companies. This is clearly demonstrated by well known companies that create strong reputations based on clear values and cultures: innocent drinks, Coca Cola and Toyota, to name just three (Ipsos ... • 5. Public Shaming The flip side of Internet Fame is an essay written by Jessica Bennett. In this essay, Jessica Bennett talks about our modern culture and the effects of public shaming. She starts the essay by using Star Boy as an example. She then states, Among the generation that s been reared online, stories like this are becoming more common (Bennett 90). As a person who uses technology in everyday life, I can strongly agree that public shaming is becoming a big issue. Some people might see it as entertainment, but the victims of public shaming see it as humiliation and harassment. Public shaming can spread through many ways, such as the use of technology, online videos and certain websites. One reason why I believe that Public Shaming is a big issue is because of the use of technology. Daniel Solove, a law professor that is mentioned in the essay, says, Anybody can be a celebrity or a worldwide villain (Bennett 91). In today, s society technology such as cell phones allow you to record incidents and upload them to any social media. This is a form of public shaming because most of the time, people use technology to embarrass other people. People can use their own cell phones to record others doing an act that might seem either malicious or embarrassing. Jessica Bennett uses Dog Poop Girl as an example. In 2005, a girl had a public role of Dog poop girl after she refused to clean up after her dog on a subway. Jessica Bennett says, A minor infraction, perhaps, but another ... • 6. Dichotomy In Do The Right Thing Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee is a film that acts as a call to action for the audience to differentiate what doing the right thing actually means. New York City in 1989 was filled with issues of race and class. Crime rates were high and one of the highest recorded in history only second to the preceding year of 1990. Cases like the central park five where african american youths and other minorities were falsely accused of crimes, caused for unjust views of the justice system designed to protect these people as opposed to persecuting the innocent in the most blatant and obvious ways. Along with false accusations within the system, New York City was also filled with police brutality stories. The organization has collected information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Malcolm s approach to racial injustices is that the solution is violence with violence. While MLK s perspective is one of peace and assembly. This film uses those contrasting community pillars to once again beg the question of what the right thing is in a situation that asks an individual to choose. This major subtext part of the film are prime examples of duality and dichotomy. Malcolm X is known for his radical and violent views during the racist culture during the time of the civil rights movement until he died. His philosophy never forgotten and was often still practiced. He once said, Tactics based solely on morality can only succeed when you are dealing with basically moral people or a moral system The morality of the system is definitely tested during the 80s where as previously stated, the system is constantly testing within the injustice of the justice system when it comes to african americans. Malcolm X was a man of action and Buggin Out would be his parallel. Throughout the film he is a character of action, when he decided to boycott Sal s there is no stopping him, even after Jane tells him that his passion could be used in more positive ways. He follows through with the boycotting and the audience can see how violence affects the situation in the neighborhood as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Maths For many students, maths is a language only spoken at school, but maths is a well spoken language in my home. My mother s love for maths has inevitably infected me with the desire to solve problems with logical reason. I feel that a solution to one question in maths may open up more questions ranging in different domains of mathematics. Maths has helped me to discover different ways to achieve solutions through alternate thinking and this is reminiscent of everyday life, where it is advantageous to use effective and more efficient routes to overcome problems. I find that maths can be embedded into many aspects of life, e.g. using the Pythagoras theorem to aid in designing a room. Also, in biology, to find the variation in the distribution of a species, you can use standard deviation. Maths encourages me to delve into divergent thinking. It thrills me that there is always more to learn and the knowledge is never capped. Maths to me has acted as a mechanism for calming my busy mind. For example, some people enjoy the tranquillity of music, whereas my music is maths. Achieving the correct answer whenever I complete a maths question brings me great satisfaction, which further increases my motivation towards further learning. I have always thought that once you find that numbers are easy to work with, you develop an appetite to learn more about maths through practice it will stick in your mind forever. Chemistry works hand in hand with maths, it cannot work without it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks Case Apple vs the Government agency (FBI) in the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks case. Ethics and Morality are defined as the distinction of right and wrong. On the other hand morals are also largely based on the social values of good and bad. However, people tend to define them as the standards and customs that guide the way of life towards good. In most cases of ethics and morality they are referring to acts of both good and bad deeds. Nonetheless, in a recent case with the FBI vs. the Government against Apple Inc. Company arose one of the key moral issues in the business world. Apple refused to offer a backdoor to one of the iPhones considered to be of the terrorists. The ethical issue involved two genuine values; privacy and security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple mentioned also in their letter to their customers that they were against terrorism. They continued to state that as a company they did everything in their power to help the FBI in investigating this case and catch these criminals. However, Apple did not want to risk its customer s privacy because it was found that most apple product users store data such as private conversations, photos, music, notes, calendars and contacts, financial information and health data in their devices. Since Apple operates their company based on certain values one of them being safeguarding their customer s data, this prompted decision to deny the FBI the software or backdoor that would ve risked the privacy of millions of iPhone users. The FBI however is willing to do just about anything to solve a case, one that especially involves serious criminals investigates. Keeping this in mind you can see why the FBI refused to think morally in favor of Apple and how this backdoor software would ve tarnished the reputation and decreased business for this company. However it is concluded both of these parties did what was ethically right for their independent situations, but as you can see what is ethically right for one situation is not necessarily right for another ... They are the iconic American breakfast, and it ceases to amaze me how much in love people are with these delicious yet little deadly treats. It is not shocking at all that Americans will do anything for food; it is quite amusing that they will drive to a Donut Bank (Donut Bank 1), go through the drive through for some doughnuts. The least they could do is park their car, get off their lazy butts and walk themselves into the Bakery to purchase the doughnut. Burn three calories before eating two hundred. Not only are Americans using drive through for food, but now people can go to the Bank and pick up prescriptions from pharmacies. • 11. The Portrait Of Women During Persian Painting The Portrait of Women in Persian Painting In contrast to public life, where women are largely absent or heavily veiled, representations and portraits of women in Persian painting provide considerable evidence for analyzing the social and cultural implications of these imageries. The research on Persian painting lifts the veil from the face of women and reveals the importance, richness, and variety of the representations of women. This research paper will mainly focus on the variation of characters of women in Persian painting from three perspectives: power, love, and society, spanning from the thirteenth century to the twentieth century. What should be noted is that the wide spread of painted imagery seemed to contradict the Islamic aversion to figural imagery; however, the prohibition is mainly against sculpture and the making of idols (Nashat and Beck, page). Therefore, the depiction of women in decorative manuscripts or Persian paintings remained and enabled the development of Persian painting as a whole. Additionally, these paintings were mainly produced for use within the context of private life and were ordered by ruling classes to decorate interior spaces, and luxury manuscripts were only accessible to an educated, selected few. (reference) Women in Persian painting were portrayed in an idealized fashion with little expression of emotion, and the range of activities and social roles played by women in society is reflected in a limited sense. NIMH scientists have also found a possible genetic component: through research on mice, they have found a gene that relates to fearfulness (1). Additionally, hormones may play a role, specifically fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels in women (4). Environment may also be important, as people with social anxiety may learn the behavior from watching and patterning those around them (1). Treatment may include the use of medications such as selective seretonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), monamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and beta blockers specifically for performance phobias. • 20. Similarities And Mechanistic Theories Within A Pluralistic... Counterfactuals and mechanistic theories present two distinct, although perhaps not incompatible causal theories. In this paper, I will outline them, contrast their basic strengths, and finally aim to argue in favour of a monist mechanistic account, in particular focusing on resolving two general arguments against mechanistic theory to which the answer is commonly to adopt a pluralistic account. Let s begin by considering our two causal accounts: First, counterfactuals centre on the notion that alterations to the cause make a difference to it s effect. In this way, the relationship between the cause, and the effect can be said to be causal so long as if I change the cause, the effect will be different. Thus, if I were to throw a ball at a window, and it broke, then I could call the relationship between the throwing of the ball and the window s breaking to be causal, so long as had I not thrown the ball, a different effect (in this case, the window not breaking) would have occurred. By contrast, mechanistic theory focuses on the identifiable linking processes between the cause and effect. Salmon, Dowe, Machamer and Glennan all present accounts of mechanistic theory, however it is Glennan s approach which I will focus on, as he has the most success in forming the underlying intuitions into clear elements. He begins by identifying the component elements deemed necessary for a mechanistic process, which includes the interaction of a series of parts, acting according to ... America, as some describe it, is the land of great and equal opportunities for all, but the fact is that women are somewhat degraded and reduced to stereotypical gender roles such as being seen as only house wives instead of working, active women. Gender roles, he strong views of how a man and a woman are supposed to act, work, and live all still exist in our day to day lives. They are deeply embedded to most cultures. In some cultures it is so strong that, in certain circumstances, a man could control a woman s life because of the deep beliefs in the pre modern gender roles. Women are typically degraded in many places across the world. We see a lot of that in both The Namesake and The Only Daughter. In The Namesake, Ashima was very lucky. She once thought to herself about how other the Bengali wives do not have the amount of liberty she has. Ashoke gave Ashima the liberty to pretty much do what she wanted as long as she fulfilled her role as his Bengali wife. Ashima is portrayed as a woman who follows and respects Bengali s rules and culture, by taking care of her children and husband. Even though Ashoke gives her a lot of liberty, she still follows Bengali gender roles. In Bengali culture, there is a lot of male superiority. The wives have to do everything their husbands tell them to. In Indian tradition, they have arranged marriages. The woman does not even get to pick who she wants to boss her around for the rest of her life. Ashoke and Ashima s marriage was arranged like most Bengali Indian marriages. Ashoke then had to move back to the US to finish his education and pursue his career. Since Ashima was now a married Bengali woman she had to drop everything and move to the United States with him. In Calcutta, Ashima was working toward a college degree. She did not get to finish her degree due to getting married and having to move to the United States so Ashoke could finish his degree. They get their name from the Greek word for wind; anemos. Not only instruments used in meteorology but also in aerodynamics instruments that take airspeed measurements are described as anemometers. The first known description of an anemometer is said to be around 1450. Measurements of wind can be taken in two different forms, the speed of the wind and the pressure. However, there is a connection between these two. Anemometers can be divided into two different classes, measuring the speed of the wind or the pressure. As there is a connection between wind speed and pressure, an anemometer measuring the speed for example would still be able to provide information on the pressure of the wind. The make up of these meters consists of a vertical central pole and four horizontal arms at the top that have a cup attached to each of them. The artist first coats the metal plate in an acid resistant substance known as ground and is drawn on. The artist then uses a sharp tool or etching needle down to the plate. Hard grounds are employed for finely detailed linear work. Soft ground can also be used, and virtually any tool can be used to expose the plate and resembles crayon and pencil drawings (Sayre, 2012). Whichever ground is used by the artist is then placed in an acid bath. The acid eats, or etches, into the plate where the lines have been drawn; the longer the exposed plate is left in the bath, and the stronger the solution, the greater the width and depth of the etched line (Sayre, 2012). An artist can also create a way in stopping out a section by using varnishes or ground over the etched surface. Once the plate is finished being exposed to acid, it is inked and printed. Etching has both benefits and drawbacks. Some of the benefits to etching are that it is a fluid and free process and it is able to capture the sense of immediacy as a sketch. However, some drawbacks to etching include it is a medium that requires calculations and planning, an ability to manipulate chemicals, and a willingness to risk losing everything in order to achieve the desired effect (Sayre, ... How significant were the nationalist leaders in changing the relationship between Great Britain and Ireland in the period 1815 1922? Robert Pearce cites the work of outstanding nationalist leaders joining together to oppose the tyranny of England and compelling her to retreat and abandon most of Ireland . Whilst O Connell campaigned for the emancipation of Catholics, uniting them and bringing about political advancement, his significance is questionable; after 1840 he had failed to bring about repeal. In comparison Parnell finally made the image of Home Rule a realistic possibility and Collins who ultimately brought about negotiations of the Anglo Irish treaty; effectively leading Ireland to freedom. In assessing the significance of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore we must consider that there are other aspects such as the Famine that were significant and contributed to the changing of the Irish British relationship. On the other hand, it was nationalist leader Parnell who brought about the whole issue of Home Rule to the forefront of British politics and laid the foundations for a change in British Irish relations. Parnell s astute ability to manipulate the Irish public allowed him to unite the various shades of Irish nationalism together and unite them under one movement; the New Departure. This united movement posed a direct threat and allowed him to exert extreme pressure on the British government . By 1879 Parnell had become president of the Land League and had forged and maintained crucial relations with America. The American Irish relations were heavily responsible for funding the Land League, which was crucial to Parnell s persuading of Gladstone to pass the Land Acts of 1881 which granted the 3Fs, fair rent, free sale and fixity of tenure. The formation of Parnell s disciplined, pledge bound party ensured the issues of Ireland would be present in British politics; as no british government was singularly strong enough to govern without the support of the Irish with the IPP increasing their number of MPs from 63 to 85. Tweedie even goes as far to suggest the results of the general election clinched ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Misconceptions Of Porn, Pornography, Crime, And Crimes And... One of the biggest misconceptions of porn is the way that a penis is portrayed to the viewers. In porn, the penis is generally viewed to be massive in size and or girth, which is a problem being that the average penis size is 3.5 inches flaccid and 5.1 inches when erect (MacGill, 2016). But in porn the penises tend to be at least 8 inches in length or more which is not a fair portrayal of what sex is like and in many cases, could even be uncomfortable for the partner/s that the person is going to have sex with. Which is not a fair comparison to either the viewer of the pornography or his partner due to them felling inferior to the porn star or having feelings of not being as good at sex cause of the size of his penis. Another significant aspect of pornography is the woman being surprised by the size of the man s penis. In most straight porn videos whenever the man shows his penis the woman is always surprised by how big the man s penis is at times comparing it to her forearm or other body parts. As Lehmiller says However most women say that a larger penis does not increase their ability to reach orgasm (Costa, Miller Brody 2012). There are certainly some women for whom a bigger member is preferred and may bring them more erotic pleasure, but this does not appear to be the case for most women. (Lehmiller 373). In this quote, one can see that in fact not all women want a bigger penis because for some women it may hurt to even attempt to have sex with such a large penis. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
