Essay about Thucydides vs Plato
Compare and contrast Thucydides and Socrates analyses of the fate of Athenian democracy in war, of
why the Athenians went to war, and of how and why they failed.
The Peloponnesian War was the turning point in Athenian hegemony in Ancient Greece. It was fought
in 431 B.C. between the Delian League, led by Athens, and the Peloponnesian League led by Sparta.
According to Thucydides, Athens imposing hegemonic status and its overwhelming quest for more
power made the Peloponnesian War and Athens s eventual fall from power inevitable. Despite the
Athenians having a far more superior navy and being considerably wealthier, they were defeated and
made subjects of Sparta. In this paper, I will discuss Thucydides and Socrates reasons for why ...

When Sparta gave its ultimatum to Athens, Pericles was more than happy to oblige and go to war. He
embodies Athenian arrogance and overzealousness. Pericles speaks to the Athenian assembly
convincing them to go to war because according to him, they cannot lose. Pericles explains how
Sparta doesn t have the same financial advantages that Athens does and how Athens has a far superior
navy. According to Pericles, the best strategy is to use that to Athens advantage, leaving Attica
exposed by only attacking and defending the sea were they have an advantage. Pericles finishes of by
saying that Athens possesses all of Sparta s strengths and none of its weaknesses, and Athens must
fight so that future generations will have an Athens that is as good as ever. Pericles was known for
being a powerful speaker and in the end, the Athenians took his advice and war soon followed. A year
after war broke out, Pericles was once again invited to speak, this time at the customary public funeral
for those who had fallen in combat. What follows is arguably the best eulogy in history. For the
families of the fallen soldiers he states that they did not truly die, for famous men have the whole earth
as their memorial...not in any visible form but in people s hearts, [where] their memory abides and
grows. Of Athens he says, Future ages will wonder at us, as the present age wonders at us now.
Pericles is able to remain optimistic of Athens victory and

Power And Gender In Shakespeare s Play Much Ado About...

William Shakespeare: Much Ado about Nothing
What does the play seem to say about power and gender? Compare and contrast at least four
characters, using specific examples to support your answer. William Shakespeare s play Much Ado
about Nothing is one of his many creations during the Renaissance and Elizabethan Era. This is one of
Shakespeare s most famous play that is still performed to this day. I was able to witness students from
The University of North Carolina School of the Arts production perform this play. Shakespeare
exposes the dark and ugly truth about gender inequality that occurred during the Elizabethan Era. In
the Messina society, the men were superior to women, and the women to feel inferiors to the men.
However, in this play, Beatrice is seen as an exception as she says Oh that I were a man (The
University of North Carolina School of the Arts production). For women, honor was based on virginal
chastity, while men were honored based on their social rank and camaraderie. Shakespeare portrays
Hero as the ideal women during the Renaissance period by depicting her as quiet, polite and
respectful. She follows the rules of the patriarchal society, like submitting to her father s decisions and
accepting her father s demand that she should say yes to Don Pedro s marriage proposal. She offers no
objection to the marriage proposal even though it was from Claudio instead of Don Pedro. Hero will

Body Image In The Fashion Industry
The fashion industry
Under society s norms for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and anticipation to
have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of the makeup to their
face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young
women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s
easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. These companies produce
magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our
culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of composition, however, body image is a
pressing issue for young women. Advertisements and posters of skinny female models are all over.
Young girls not only could be better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect
figure. Moreover, girls are evaluated and oppressed by their physical appearances. With supplements
and apparel designed to enhance a facial expression; social media, magazines, and marketing
campaigns and advertisements add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a prime object
of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better on tall and svelte women. Established on a
survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media
industries to be skinny , with more than 60% routinely compares themselves to models, while 46%

Theme Of Friendship In The Killer Angels
The Killer Angels displays many of the important themes that occurred during the Battle of
Gettysburg, some of which including bravery, leadership, and, most of all, friendship. This theme of
friendship is represented in many of the characters of this book, and some of these friendships were
divided by ranks and, in the case of Armistead and Hancock, by countries. But even with the fighting,
true friendship is able to come out of the mess. Two pairs of men that show this friendship are
Chamberlain and Kilrain along with Lee and Longstreet. Chamberlain and Kilrain are a perfect
example of friendship in the war because, even though they were separated by age and rank, they both
looked out for each other and looked for each other s side of things. ... Show more content on

You could compare their friendship to that of comrades in school who would share information with
each other. However, these two argued multiple times in the book, which affected not only their lives
in the book but the lives of many soldiers. They argued because of their many different view:
Longstreet wanted to take a defensive approach while Lee wanted to go on the offensive and
Longstreet wanted to court martial Stuart while Lee did not want to (pg. 189; Would you do it? Court
martial Stuart? Yes, I would. Seriously? Or are you just talking? Longstreet though a moment. Lee
wouldn t. Lee won t. ). While these differing views did help each other to come to agreements, their
arguments, especially the one on the third day about Lee s strategy, do not really get anywhere
because of Lee s stubbornness (pg. 286; General, Longstreet said slowly, it is my considered opinion
that a frontal assault here would be a disaster. Lee turned, frowned, the dark eyes flared for a moment.
). Even if they argued a lot, that did not ruin their friendship. Longstreet was not like many of the
soldiers who looked at Lee like God on earth; he saw him as the old man that he really was. With this,
Longstreet worried a lot about him because he knew he was not in good

Comparison Of The Arthurian Legend Of Tristan And Isoud
Tristan and Isoud The Arthurian legend of Tristan and Isoud is a timeless tale of two people in
surreptitious love. Tristan being the nephew of King Mark and his obligation to the chivalric code are
the couple s greatest hurdles inhibiting their relationship from prospering. Isoud and Tristan s legend
changes from merely being means of entertainment about two forbidden lovers in Le Morte D Arthur,
by Thomas Malory, to having a deeper purpose in Cornwall s Wonderland, by Mabel Quiller Couch.
Couch s version of the tale provides perspective on not only what the couple goes through, but also
makes the story relatable to her readers during the time of World War I and women s rights being
limited.
World War I s impact on people at the time is devastating and Couch knows that her audience is
looking for an escape when reading, whereas Malory is simply telling a story for the fun of it and not
the details. Tristan becomes very distraught from his loneliness and as a result he goes to Brittany to
find Iseult la Blanche Mains, or Iseult of the White Hands in an effort to ease his pain of losing his
true love La Belle Isoud. In Cornwall s Wonderland, Tristan knows that Iseult la Blanche Mains has
feelings for him and he feels that at least one person in the love triangle deserves to be happy. Tristan
says to himself that he cannot love her as she deserves, but he will try to make her happy (Couch 228).
Once he arrives to Brittany, Tristan has to fight an earl by the name of

The Creation Of Policies And Procedures Essay
The Creation of Policies and Procedures A Policy and Procedure Manual is a vital to the efficiency,
morale, and all overall productivity of any company. This manual informs the employees of the
company s vision and purpose and the steps needed to incorporate that vison into their everyday duties
and tasks; therefore, producing continuity and efficiency within the company by eliminating confusion
and empowering the employees with knowledge and a sense of belonging and pride. The company s
mission, strategy, and vision are married to a successful system of policies and procedures, thus
creating a foundation for a lucrative an efficient business with employees that are equipped, informed,

When writing a Policy and Procedure Manuel, it is important to understand the definition of a policy
and the definition of a procedure. A policy is a set of rules and regulations for accomplishing a task
and a procedure will articulate the details on how to accomplish that task. As Stephen Butler Page
states in his book, Establishing a System of Policies and Procedures: Setting up a Successful Policies
and Procedures System for Printed, On line, and Intranet Manuals:
Policies and procedures are like a state road map. The map at a glance shows areas of interest and the
general direction in which to travel to reach a desired estimation. The roads on the map provide
possible paths to reach a particular destination. If the correct roads are followed, the destination can be

That s why the actress Chloe Moretz or the character of Mia in the movie If I Stay would be an

character of Sissy(Cecilia) Jupe is in Hard Times . Sissy also is an imaginative character that likes to
wander and have her mind in places that Mr. Gradgrind thought never existed. Mia is a strong witted
character that wonders what her life is going to be like without her family, that no one could ever
imagine and she wonders about all of the greatness in life when her family was there. In Hard Times
Sissy s father runs away from her and abandons her and Sissy is left with the decision to go with Mr.
Gradgrind, a character who only cares about the facts and learning with no imagination or to live with
the people who love her and care for her and let her be the person she wants to be. Sissy has to choose
if she wants to have a satisfying life with all the people she loves and have fun or be taken in by Mr.
Gradgrind as a servant and one who has to only learn facts with no imagination. Mia goes through a
similar situation in If I Stay. Mia s family is hit when driving and Mia knows what s going on and can
see everything and has to generate the decision if she wants to live or die. She is unconscious, but
aware of everything else and she finds out that her parents and her brother all died in the crash and
were not able to stay alive. Even with this tragedy Mia, like Sissy, composes a strong, grave decision
that she wants to live even though her family is not there anymore. Sissy made the decision to live in a
safe home that will provide her with everything she needs. In both cases, they lose what s important to
them and the people that love them, but they keep moving forward.

Genuine Intrigue In Developmental Biology
Curiosity has recently been revealed to me as my greatest boon. My younger self asked so many
questions, I would sometimes be accosted by others for it. My questioning never stopped, but my
circumstances changed once I entered college. Thereupon I was surrounded by individuals who loved
answering questions. Fortunately, these circumstances have not changed with my transition to
University of Michigan. Academically speaking, my adventurous and skeptical nature allows me to
identify and understand exactly what I intellectually need, and easily contrast that with my wants and
capabilities.

The lives of the Plains Indians have been affected in many ways, such as technological inventions as
well as in political aspects. The Plains Indians have been scammed of their land through government

The two main actions that the United States government issued towards the Plains Indians were the
Homestead Act and the Dawes Act. The Homestead Act correlated with the trend of Manifest Destiny
and encouraged settlers to migrate west. The Homestead Act encouraged western migration by
providing 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were
required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land. After
six months of residency, homesteaders also had the option of purchasing the land from the government
for roughly $1.25 per acre. (Primary Documents in American History) The land that the government
was distributing belonged to various tribes of the Plains Indians. By having the Homestead Act in
effect and encouraging settlers to migrate west, Plains Indians were forced into reservations. The real
impact of Manifest Destiny was that it sent many settlers west, without realizing that the settlers were
taking land from the Indians. The Indians that lived in the reservations had just enough food to keep
their population alive, as well as living in unsanitary conditions with bacteria and diseases
everywhere. The two options that the Indians had was to either live in the reservations with little to no
food or to face genocide. Some Indian tribes tried to make amends with American troops who ushered
the natives to reservations, but some American troops turned on the Indians. One incident of the
American troops killing Indians was the Nez Perce war. This war was over a conflict of land and how
some US troops did not agree on the settlement of the land. The war resulted in over 100 casualties
towards the Indians and was stated as a genocide of and Indian tribe. The second act that was passed

Sensor Technology Applied to Martial Arts
 SOCIAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATION:
The system relates to the type of protective clothing worn by the players in sports like in martial arts,
taekwondo and kick boxing. Technology is becoming is very common in sports to highlight the unfair
decisions made by the referees during a game, it s a very complicated procedure to link technology
with the sports, however introducing sensors like (proximity, motion sensor, impact sensors) in sports
create a vast difference in the decision making of referees on field and also put fairness in the game
and enjoyment for the audience coming into see the game. The invention of impact measurement and
sensor technology uses the Piezo electric film sensors on the protective clothing worn by the players
to help the referees to make accurate decision of scoring in a game. The recently introduced judgment
making technologies has however, surged the accountability of the referee and judges to ensure the
precision of scoring, as scores now come spontaneously from two sources (1) the electronic scoring
system, (2) the judges via hand held electronic controllers. While the technology does mention about
the points that may not have been seen via the open eyes due to the surged speed of the game and
upturned complexity of practices, quite a lot of the interviewees expressed fear of points being scored
through the closing of circuitry rather than power and/or technique. Some indicated to this with
expressions such as soft points .

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
The song is about a materialistic path of life that people take, which only satisfies them with desires of
the world for material objects. This in turn leaves a weak feeling of lack of spiritual fulfillment leading
them a question of how they would get into heaven. The character in the song who is a lady in finds
the fulfillment of worldly satisfaction by buying stairway that she may use to heaven. Otherwise she
realizes that life is not all about being able to buy everything she can afford. The song shows the spirit
of this woman yearning for a deeper happiness. Then she is answered to her yearning soul that one
may take either of the two existing ways. It shows a chance of salvation for all souls that go down the
path that lead them to hell. The main part of this essay contains the analysis of the artifact. The
meaning in almost every verse when the song is broken down is foremost given in this analysis. Later,
we shall critically analyze the song and give deductions of the analysis. An evaluative judgment of the
artifact of this song is done. The revelation of the analysis about the artifact in particular and about

The Flight From Conversation Summary
In the article The Flight from Conversation, Sherry Turkle makes a point that technology has changed
people in their ways of interacting with each other. She states that people have lost the skills for
interacting face to face because they prefer to text or email each other. In the text, the author spent
over fifteen years studying people and asking them about their lives. She also found that cellphones
have changed what people do and who they are. People are accustomed to technology, it is a new way

Comparing The Abrahamic Religions, Judaism And Christianity
The Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Christianity, are two of the most prominent religions in the
world. Similar to the majority of the religions in terms of origin, Christianity emerged from Judaism.
Thus, resulting in not only comparable aspects common to both religions but also vast differences as
well.
Since one religion stemmed from the other, there are various overlaps between their values, beliefs,
practices, and traditions. To begin with, like all Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Christianity are both
monotheistic religions. Therefore meaning that they believe in only one God. This shared God is
considered the almighty creator of everything, but is said to be an outside creation himself. However,
Christian ideology expanded the monotheistic belief and created a new foundation concerning the
essence of God. Despite its founding principles and the existing general beliefs regarding the
classification of the religion, according to Judaic principles, Christianity is not considered to be truly
monotheistic due to its belief in the Trinity. The Trinity is the doctrine that states that God possesses
the form of three people, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Hence, the differing aspects in
relation to monotheistic basis, instead of God existing in only one form for true monotheistic religions,
he holds the capacity to appear in three manifestations in correspondence with Christian beliefs.

The Effect Of Temperature On Blood Pressure And Heart Rate
Teacher s Instruction:
Design a lab that will examine a factor that affects blood pressure and heart rate.
Research Question:
What is the effect of temperature on blood pressure and heart rate?
Introduction:
Blood transports nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, antibodies, urea and heat through our
body. The heart is transports blood by pumping it through blood vessels.
Blood flows from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. The pressure of blood in the
circulatory system is a value called blood pressure (mmHg: millimeters of mercury ), which is
measured by two numbers: systolic pressure and diastolic pressure. The systolic number is the
pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (when the heart muscle contracts), while the diastolic
number is pressure in the arteries between heartbeats (when the heart muscle is resting between beats
and refilling with blood). The ideal blood pressure is 120/80 mmHg.
Heart rate on the other hand is the number of times (in one minute) that the heart beats or contracts. A
heart rate can be anywhere between 60 and 100 beats per minute.
This experiment will involve five individuals putting their left hand in different samples of water of
varying temperatures. Their blood pressure and heart rate will be recorded before the experiment, and
after each water trial, to determine the effect it has on both the blood pressure and heart rate.

purpose of the book. The important part, that draws people in could also be the characters. The girl
that is reading The Hunger Games, might not be reading it because she wants to what happens next. It
could be that she loves Katniss Everdeen, and wants to keep reading about her. Of course there has to
be a plot or there would be no reason to keep reading; it just might not be the main focus. The
storyline of the reading material is called a plot. The plot has a structure containing exposition, rising
action, climax, falling action, and the resolution. Exposition is the introduction of the story. In the
short story, A Family Supper the exposition is when he is talking about the poisonous fish, Fugu, and
how his mother had died from eating it. During this time, it also talks about the conflict between him
and his parents. This is how readers know that while him and his dad are talking that there is tension
there. The conflict keeps the reader in suspense, wondering why he went to America, until they read
where his sister, later, asks about a girl

Group Development Paper
Group Development Outside of the study of leadership, the words group and team are often
synonymous. When applying these words to the study of Full Range Leadership Development, these
two words fall on opposite ends of the synergy spectrum. Sosik and Jung (2010) explain that in a
group, individuals are focused in a self centered manner; the completion of their work is focused
heavily on the good of the individual and there is not much consideration for how their work impacts
the overall performance of the group (p. 305). On a team, there is a much stronger sense of
accountability and ownership regarding individual performance and its impact on the work of the
whole (Sosik Jung, 2010, p. 305). According to Sosik and Jung (2010), ...Team members believe that
they not only are accountable for their own performance, but also hold mutual accountability for
collective objectives. They develop a high level of trust, and every member encourages others to look
at their work from a larger perspective (p. 305). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Adaptations Are Broken Into Three Types Of Adaptations
INTRODUCTION
Adaptations are broken into three types of Adaptations. Structural, Physiological and Behavioural,
these types of adaptations differ from one another changing a different aspect of the organism.
Structural Adaptations are the change in appearance based on the organism s environment.
Physiological Adaptations are the organisms body chemistry, metabolism, and reproductive attributes.
Behavior Adaptations are the way in which an organism acts.
THE RED KANGAROO
The kangaroos ability to hop is a structural adaptation. The kangaroo s leg muscles spring when the
kangaroo makes impact with the ground. This transfer from elastic potential energy to kinetic energy
saves the kangaroo from using unnecessary energy to cover large distances. (As seen in figure 1)
The female kangaroo s efficient breeding cycle also assists them in surviving the harsh environment.
They have the ability, when pregnant, to put the growth of the embryo on hold until external
conditions improve. This increases the chances of the young surviving. In times of drought, many
kangaroos will die but when conditions are good female kangaroos can have three young ones with
them at the same time: one as an embryo (not yet born), one in the pouch attached to a teat and one
outside the pouch but still drinking the mother s milk. This extreme breeding cycle is a huge
physiological adaptation that has allowed the kangaroo to reproduce.
A physiological adaptations of the red kangaroos is that they

Greek Gods And Myths
Now we all know that God exists, but how accurate are the bible stories that describe God compared
to that of the Greek ones and their Gods. In other words, how does Christianity compare to stories,
fables, and myths? DISCLAIMER Before I do anything I just want you to know that I wrote up a ten
page paper but I shortened it down destroying all evidence of other gods or religious figures not based
on Christianity. So please excuse me if I sound like an atheist. For one thing, God and the Greek gods
are quite similar in how to act. For instance, God has wisdom just like Athena that they both used in
battle, times of diplomacy and to empower the people of earth. God rules over all just like Zeus and
promised righteous judgment to all who did not sacrifice towards him. However, our God also has

through life.
Now we all know that God exists, but how accurate are the bible stories that describe God compared
to that of the Greek ones and their Gods. In other words, how does Christianity compare to stories,
fables, and myths? First I feel that it be best for me to take a step back to describe God in the clearest
way possible. One of God s many traits is that of his immaculate wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to
devise perfect ends and to achieve these ends by the most faultless means. In other words, God makes
no mistakes. He is the Father who truly knows best, as Paul explains in Romans 11:33: Oh, how great
are God s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions
and His ways! So how do the other Greek gods with wisdom stack up against God?
For one they are already short stacked because none of them have perfect wisdom and although they
do have wisdom it is not the immaculate wisdom that God has. For instance, Athena may have
wisdom, but she can still be bested. If I was to speak in a down to earth way it would mean

How Is Athens Citizenship
Athens Citizenship In the beginning of the sixth century BCE the idea of people participating in a role
of society started to develop and later evolved into the status of people given by their government;
citizenship. With citizenship came the theory of social contract, which stated that if a citizen does their
part for their nation their nation shall do theirs. As the theory evolved the Roman republic focused
more on how their people interacted with the other citizens and participated in their government rather
than the citizen s responsibility which was the main emphasis in the city state of Athens. Athens had
stricter guidelines to become a citizen, but allowed more freedom when they have received the title of
being a citizen, unlike the Romans, which constricted their citizens based on their initial background
and/or gender (Citizenship in Athens and Rome Background Essay). The Athenian city state had an

becoming too powerful for their status in society and in the end the person with their name written
down the most is to be ostracized. This demonstrates the act of being any citizen able to impact

The Three Basic Forms Of EMH
Literature Review:
The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) states that it is impossible to beat the market because stock
market efficiency causes existing share prices to always incorporate and reflect all relevant
information.
The Three Basic Forms of the EMH
The theory of efficient market hypothesis EMH is based on the assumption that markets are efficient.
And this hypothesis can be categorized into three basic levels which are as follows:
1. Weak Form EMH
The weak form EMH implies that the market is efficient, reflecting all market information. This
hypothesis assumes that the rates of return on the market should be independent; past rates of return
and information have no effect on future rates.
2. Semi Strong EMH

The Random Walk Model is a different paradigm of the Hypothesis of Efficient Markets. This model
was initially examined by Kendall (1953). The model states that the price fluctuations of stocks do not
depend on each other and have the same probability distribution. The theory explains that stock price
change randomly and investors are unable to predict stock prices. The model is linked to the belief that
markets are extremely efficient and that investors cannot beat or predict the market because stock

Modern Food During The Medieval Era
Food is an essential need in order to survive. Medieval food took a turn during the Middle Ages.
Different foods were put in groups to be consumed according to the social rank of individuals. Noble s
diets would be unquestionably different than the peasants. Religion also played a significant role on
food during the Medieval Times. People celebrated large banquets and feasts during this Era. During
the Medieval Era, there was a difference in food that was consumed by the rich and poor. The diet of
the rich and the poor was not considered healthy and balanced. Rich individuals were called nobles or
royalty. The quality of food that was ingested by the rich and poor differed significantly. If you were
considered royalty, ingredients such as spices, sweet foods, and sugar was available to you. Upper and
lower classes both ate three meals a day. The upper class s food would be served from silverware and
gold dishes. Here in the United States, liquid food is generally eaten with spoons, but people during
medieval times drank liquid food from cups. Expensive spices such as pepper, cinnamon, cloves,
nutmeg, ginger and so on was put in most of the food consumed by the Upper class. The nobles drank
a variety of wines.
The poor were called peasants. Peasants had to eat food that came from the ground; these vegetables
consisted of cabbage, beets, onions, garlic, and carrots. Their diet was mainly bread, pottage, and dairy
products. Peasants consumed many carbohydrates daily. These

Bod is raised in the graveyard by educated ghosts, a solitary guardian who is neither living nor dead

This novel teaches us about the endless possibilities of life that we can face and that we can keep

Throughout Gaiman s fictional novel the idea relationships are a key part of our identity has been
displayed. Bod s relationships and The Graveyard helped Bod find his identity of who he is. When
Bod goes off to school and Silas ran over Simon Silas said, I ll take you home put your arms around
my neck. The low modality that has been displayed is the calm and helpful words, which has also
created imagery for us to imagine what is going on when Silas helped Bod. At the beginning of

be able to touch him. One day, he would leave them. One day. Gaiman has used repetition and ellipses

approach, which attributes intrinsic value not only to pleasure or satisfaction, but also to various

John Rawls states that the principle of fairness is important as it applies to individuals the principle of

perfect equality and are asked to choose a principle of justice behind a veil of ignorance, which
eliminates their biases (Pogge, 2007). The hypothetical persons in the Original Position, ignorant of
who and what they will be in society and perfectly equal to one another, are able to truly come to a
consensus as to what a just society would be (Pogge, 2007). Justice

Renewable Sources Of Solar Energy
In the past decades, there has been an important argument regarding energy and its sources. Energy
resources are classified into two groups: renewable and non renewable. Although renewable sources
have not yet been exploited to their maximum, their use has been increasing since the 1960 s. The
main renewable energy sources are Wind, Geothermal, and Solar energy. Contrary to renewable
sources, non renewable sources lead in the production of electricity and other forms of energy. For non

The safety regulations for the solar industry are mostly concentrated in the materials used for the
production of PV cells. The greatest danger during the job itself is an employee falling from the PV
cell platform(roof) during installation or maintenance. Regarding the fabrication, some compounds
used may be harmful to the people or the environment if not wasted properly. An example is Tin

solar panels are considered friendly. These cells do not contaminate or pollute its surrounding, making
them desirable when trying to reach a balance between nature and energy production in a specific

Despite the fact that solar energy harvesting has been possible for decades, its use did not increase in
the way it was expected. One of the main reasons behind the slow growth of solar energy harvesting is
the economy surrounding it. The cost of photovoltaic cells has decreased significantly over the years,
mainly due to improvements for mass production purposes, yet it has not proven to be affordable. In
comparison with hydrocarbon energy, solar energy s cost is still high. Regardless its high cost, the
solar industry produces positive economic impacts. Opposing to the decrement in job vacancies in the

Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an

murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Barack Obama If that did not give you

biggest reliefs. I never thought that this day will come. I chose Osama Bin s speech to the nation about
Osama Bin Laden being dead. In this paper, I am going to research and critically examine and

dealing with the invention, organization, style, delivery, and memory. May 1, 2011 Barack Obama
presented a speech to the American nation and the world that Osama Bin Laden was dead. Obama did
this speech to inform the nation on the big news, but also to approve of his nation and other nations
that helped find and were able to capture and have him killed. As he speaks to the nation, he stands
next to an American flag. This suggests that he is proud of his nation and thankful for the country that
he is president of. Obama did not only just state that Osama Bin Laden was dead; he brought the
audience through a long journey on how they found Bin Laden. Invention is tied to the rhetorical

Video Game Piracy is the Biggest Issue Facing the Video...
Video Game piracy is one of the biggest issues facing the video game industry, specifically PC
gaming. It occurs every day, and is dramatically affecting the revenues earned by video game
developers. Piracy can occur in a number of ways. The first possible method of video game piracy is
burning content onto a disc. Someone can copy the contents of a game disc into a file on their
computer and then burn those contents onto a blank disc. This disc can then be given or sold to
someone as the full version of a game. Another technique that pirates use is called torrenting. This
involves finding the code file for a video game and then transferring it into a playable version of the
game. After this is done, the pirate can play the game for free and can even post this new playable file
on the internet as a free download that anyone can access. Piracy is one of the biggest problems that
video game developers have faced over the years.
Many consumers like the idea of pirated games because it means that they can play games without
paying for them. One of the arguments against video game developing companies is that games cost
too much, so it is the developers faults that piracy exists. The only reason that video games are
expensive is because they cost so much money to create. Many games these days cost in the hundreds
of millions of dollars to develop, so the only way the company can make a profit is if they put the $60
price tag on their games.
A second argument

February tenth through twelfth, March eleventh through thirteenth and finally April eleventh through
thirteenth. In the dates given you will see the day before, during and after a full moon. The full moon
phases in all three months it shows that the day before and after the shadow of the waxing and waning
gibbous returns, there is only one full night of this phase. At night during my observations some nights
like on February eleventh the full moon just looked like a giant glowing ball in the sky, but, on the
nights of March and April twelfth I could see the contours of the moon s surface as well as a glow ring
around the moon. When there is a full moon the moon is on the opposite side of the Earth compared to
the Sun; that s why there is not a shadow compared to phases like the waning

Setting up the Experiment * 1
Set the lemon on a flat, level surface. Insert the galvanized nail through the lemon peel and into the
center of the lemon making sure that the point does not exit through the other side. * 2
At the opposite end of the lemon, using the paring knife make a small slit in the lemon peel. Insert the
penny into this slit and continue to push until only about a quarter of the penny remains above the
peel. * * 3
In order to see the amount of voltage created by the lemon battery, a voltage meter is required. Attach
the red wire clamp to the penny and the black wire clamp to the nail in order to see the lemon battery
at work. 1. Shake and roll the lemon on a table to activate the juices in the lemon. 2. With the help of
an adult, cut two small slices in the lemon about 1/2 inch apart. The penny and dime will go in these
slits. 3. Place your penny into one slot and your dime into the other slot. 4. With your tongue touch
both the penny and the dime at the same time. Can you feel anything? Maybe a tingling?
The acid in the lemon reacts differently with each of the two metals. One of the coins contains positive
electric charges, while the other contains negative electric charges. These charges create current,
which will flow if the battery circuit is complete. Your tongue acts like a wire and conducts the
charges, making the circuit complete. The complete electric circuit

The Holocaust And The Survivors Of The Holocaust
Even five years after the Holocaust, there were still survivors with nowhere to go.19 Few survivors
attempted to return home, and most of those who did stayed only a short time. They learned it was
nearly impossible for them to be in places so closely linked to their childhoods.20
Everything in their cities, towns and villages would remind them of years of humiliation of
unthinkable atrocities, of tragedy and irreparable loss.21 Those few survivors that did decide to return
to their home towns did not have it easy. Many survivors lost almost everything; not just their families
and friends, but also their properties, businesses and belongings. Some survivors returning to their
homes found them to have new tenants in them refusing to move. Others found out that their
belongings like valuables or household items had been sold to fund the October 1943 rescue. By
September 1945, 1,300 survivors of the Holocaust still had no permanent homes.22 Many returning
survivors faced taunts and threats from people in their villages.23
There were also the physical aspects of attempting to return home. One Polish Jew named Dora
Rytman had survived the Holocaust and wanted to go home. It was very difficult for anyone to return
home because a lot of the tracks and roads were in pieces because of previous bombings. Because of
this, Dora had to take many different trains to try to get home. It was very difficult to reach her home
town because it was snowing, and not many trains were going that

Pros And Cons Of The Parliament Of Great Britain
Scotland and England have a long standing history with one another. They have always been in
conflict with one another, especially when England tried to take over Scotland. But eventually,
England succeeded in their attempts and, in 1706, their acts of union were passed. They eventually
took effect in May 1, 1707. That day the Parliament of Great Britain was formed. The reason each side
agreed on the Union was because both sides had something to gain from it. The English did not want
the Scottish to choose a monarch from the one sitting on the English throne. On the other hand, the
Scottish had a money problem from their attempt to colonize the Isthmus of Panama in the 1690s. But
a large stretch of time has elapsed since that Union. A vote was held in Scotland on September 18,
2014 on whether or not Scotland should succeed from the United Kingdom. The Scottish had a rather
large to make. Both independence from and dependence on the United Kingdom have their advantages
and disadvantages. If argued in the point of view of Scotland, there are many pros for the whole
kingdom. The first advantage is in the government. The Scottish Parliament is more democratic than
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason this result came about was because of all the disadvantages there is to succeeding. The
prime reason Scotland voted to not succeed was because unity is strength. Being a part of a strong,
rich, influential state such as the United Kingdom gives them a global presence. If independent,
Scotland s voice on the world stage would decrease tremendously. Another large reason is the United
Kingdom will cut them off financially. Since Scotland is a part of the UK, the country gives them
money so they can sustain themselves. Without that connection, the UK has no reason to shell out
money to them. This is an economic gamble to Scotland, especially in times of recession and rising

Fight Club Analysis
Fight Club There is enough on earth for everybody s need, but not for everyone s greed. Mahatma
Gandhi This quote fits perfectly on me. Even though I have enough clothes to last an entire lifetime,
yet I keep finding myself at the mall, buying things I simple do not need at all. And I am not the only
one, millions of people is doing the same thing. It is because we need certain things: we desire
different certain things. Now what is that problem called? Consumerism. Modern society is based on
different things. But one of those things, consumerism, has been growing majorly over the past couple
of decades, mainly in America. Americans consume exponentially more than any other country in the
world and are the leaders in waste ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Right Of Free Speech
Throughout American history, the foundation on which American democratic principles are based, has
been repeatedly tested. In the 1700s, the right of free speech was challenged when President John
Adams proposed the Alien and Sedition Acts. Adams attempted to stop the Democratic Republicans
such as Thomas Jefferson, from criticizing government decisions. Similarly, during the Civil War
President Abraham Lincoln challenged freedom of the press when he took action to restrict the
printing of military news. Lincoln ordered his generals in the field to control the press and crack down
on speech critical of his administration to limit dissent against the war effort. However, one historical
era stands out as a decidedly pivotal test of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Twentieth century U.S. history saw two major episodes of repression and violence against communists
and leftist radicals, that occurred approximately three decades apart. During the early part of the
1920s, America entered its first period of extreme anti communist sentiment, the First Red Scare.
After the successful Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in 1917, American citizens began to fear the
threat of communist influence at home. At the end of WWI, American workers unhappy with wages
and spiralling inflation, launched widespread sometimes violent strikes with the support of growing
labor unions. Some of these unions called for government takeover of private industries. For instance,
railroad workers called for the national government to take permanent control of the railroad system.
The growing waves strikes signalled a period of extreme civil unrest; American citizens became
frightened that they would face a revolution similar to the one that had just taken place in Russia. In
response, Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer, in an effort to gain the attention of American voters to
support his presidential aspirations, launched a nationwide crusade against anyone he identified as
having leftist views. Under Palmer s leadership, thousands of Americans were arrested for taking part
in alleged subversion, and thousands of others were stripped of their civil liberties. In violation of

Argumentative Essay On Who Controls Texas
Heather Loos Professor Sherry Sherifian Govt 2306 73436 30 April 2017 Who Controls Texas?
Texas might be a small government state, but it is a proud and stubbornly independent one. With the
84th legislature imposing state will on local policies, politicians of all sorts are unhappy. Regardless,
there are arguments both for and against local control, and overall, they have the public s best interests
at heart.
Texas Vox is an interest group that is all for local control. They refer to themselves as the voice of
public citizen[s] in Texas (TexasVox). They consider their advocates to be very progressive, and favor
things such as policies to lower electric bills, find new clean energy sources, as well as policies to stop
nuclear plants and their unhealthy effects. They want to work with just local control to attain their
goals. They want to ensure that the citizens have voices, even in the halls of power (TexasVox).
Representative Matt Rinaldi however, has a different approach. He believes that the state controlling
local ordinances would be considered in line with liberty. He has played a hand in things such as the
house bill 1939, which would repeal the bag bans and surcharges in effect in Dallas and Austin. He
believed they would erode consumer choice and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps I m na ve to still believe that not all local, state, and federal politicians are corrupt. I still like
to believe that as a whole, they have the citizen s best interests at heart, rather than just worrying about
their own wallets. Either way, I m actually in favor of both types of interest groups, but I lean toward
the groups like Texas Vox, that favor more local control. I guess you could say they keep the head
honchos honest, or so we could hope. I also think that the closer a group is to is a citizen (as in local vs
state), the more likely they are to be in line with what the public

  • 2. Essay about Thucydides vs Plato Compare and contrast Thucydides and Socrates analyses of the fate of Athenian democracy in war, of why the Athenians went to war, and of how and why they failed. The Peloponnesian War was the turning point in Athenian hegemony in Ancient Greece. It was fought in 431 B.C. between the Delian League, led by Athens, and the Peloponnesian League led by Sparta. According to Thucydides, Athens imposing hegemonic status and its overwhelming quest for more power made the Peloponnesian War and Athens s eventual fall from power inevitable. Despite the Athenians having a far more superior navy and being considerably wealthier, they were defeated and made subjects of Sparta. In this paper, I will discuss Thucydides and Socrates reasons for why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Sparta gave its ultimatum to Athens, Pericles was more than happy to oblige and go to war. He embodies Athenian arrogance and overzealousness. Pericles speaks to the Athenian assembly convincing them to go to war because according to him, they cannot lose. Pericles explains how Sparta doesn t have the same financial advantages that Athens does and how Athens has a far superior navy. According to Pericles, the best strategy is to use that to Athens advantage, leaving Attica exposed by only attacking and defending the sea were they have an advantage. Pericles finishes of by saying that Athens possesses all of Sparta s strengths and none of its weaknesses, and Athens must fight so that future generations will have an Athens that is as good as ever. Pericles was known for being a powerful speaker and in the end, the Athenians took his advice and war soon followed. A year after war broke out, Pericles was once again invited to speak, this time at the customary public funeral for those who had fallen in combat. What follows is arguably the best eulogy in history. For the families of the fallen soldiers he states that they did not truly die, for famous men have the whole earth as their memorial...not in any visible form but in people s hearts, [where] their memory abides and grows. Of Athens he says, Future ages will wonder at us, as the present age wonders at us now. Pericles is able to remain optimistic of Athens victory and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Power And Gender In Shakespeare s Play Much Ado About... Daman Saini Professor Schrantz English 2322 18 October 2017 William Shakespeare: Much Ado about Nothing What does the play seem to say about power and gender? Compare and contrast at least four characters, using specific examples to support your answer. William Shakespeare s play Much Ado about Nothing is one of his many creations during the Renaissance and Elizabethan Era. This is one of Shakespeare s most famous play that is still performed to this day. I was able to witness students from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts production perform this play. Shakespeare exposes the dark and ugly truth about gender inequality that occurred during the Elizabethan Era. In the Messina society, the men were superior to women, and the women to feel inferiors to the men. However, in this play, Beatrice is seen as an exception as she says Oh that I were a man (The University of North Carolina School of the Arts production). For women, honor was based on virginal chastity, while men were honored based on their social rank and camaraderie. Shakespeare portrays Hero as the ideal women during the Renaissance period by depicting her as quiet, polite and respectful. She follows the rules of the patriarchal society, like submitting to her father s decisions and accepting her father s demand that she should say yes to Don Pedro s marriage proposal. She offers no objection to the marriage proposal even though it was from Claudio instead of Don Pedro. Hero will not say ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Body Image In The Fashion Industry The fashion industry Under society s norms for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and anticipation to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of the makeup to their face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. These companies produce magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of composition, however, body image is a pressing issue for young women. Advertisements and posters of skinny female models are all over. Young girls not only could be better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect figure. Moreover, girls are evaluated and oppressed by their physical appearances. With supplements and apparel designed to enhance a facial expression; social media, magazines, and marketing campaigns and advertisements add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a prime object of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better on tall and svelte women. Established on a survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media industries to be skinny , with more than 60% routinely compares themselves to models, while 46% ... • 5. Theme Of Friendship In The Killer Angels The Killer Angels displays many of the important themes that occurred during the Battle of Gettysburg, some of which including bravery, leadership, and, most of all, friendship. This theme of friendship is represented in many of the characters of this book, and some of these friendships were divided by ranks and, in the case of Armistead and Hancock, by countries. But even with the fighting, true friendship is able to come out of the mess. Two pairs of men that show this friendship are Chamberlain and Kilrain along with Lee and Longstreet. Chamberlain and Kilrain are a perfect example of friendship in the war because, even though they were separated by age and rank, they both looked out for each other and looked for each other s side of things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You could compare their friendship to that of comrades in school who would share information with each other. However, these two argued multiple times in the book, which affected not only their lives in the book but the lives of many soldiers. They argued because of their many different view: Longstreet wanted to take a defensive approach while Lee wanted to go on the offensive and Longstreet wanted to court martial Stuart while Lee did not want to (pg. 189; Would you do it? Court martial Stuart? Yes, I would. Seriously? Or are you just talking? Longstreet though a moment. Lee wouldn t. Lee won t. ). While these differing views did help each other to come to agreements, their arguments, especially the one on the third day about Lee s strategy, do not really get anywhere because of Lee s stubbornness (pg. 286; General, Longstreet said slowly, it is my considered opinion that a frontal assault here would be a disaster. Lee turned, frowned, the dark eyes flared for a moment. ). Even if they argued a lot, that did not ruin their friendship. • 9. Comparison Of The Arthurian Legend Of Tristan And Isoud Tristan and Isoud The Arthurian legend of Tristan and Isoud is a timeless tale of two people in surreptitious love. Tristan being the nephew of King Mark and his obligation to the chivalric code are the couple s greatest hurdles inhibiting their relationship from prospering. Isoud and Tristan s legend changes from merely being means of entertainment about two forbidden lovers in Le Morte D Arthur, by Thomas Malory, to having a deeper purpose in Cornwall s Wonderland, by Mabel Quiller Couch. Couch s version of the tale provides perspective on not only what the couple goes through, but also makes the story relatable to her readers during the time of World War I and women s rights being limited. World War I s impact on people at the time is devastating and Couch knows that her audience is looking for an escape when reading, whereas Malory is simply telling a story for the fun of it and not the details. Tristan becomes very distraught from his loneliness and as a result he goes to Brittany to find Iseult la Blanche Mains, or Iseult of the White Hands in an effort to ease his pain of losing his true love La Belle Isoud. In Cornwall s Wonderland, Tristan knows that Iseult la Blanche Mains has feelings for him and he feels that at least one person in the love triangle deserves to be happy. Tristan says to himself that he cannot love her as she deserves, but he will try to make her happy (Couch 228). Once he arrives to Brittany, Tristan has to fight an earl by the name of ... The Homestead Act correlated with the trend of Manifest Destiny and encouraged settlers to migrate west. The Homestead Act encouraged western migration by providing 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land. After six months of residency, homesteaders also had the option of purchasing the land from the government for roughly $1.25 per acre. (Primary Documents in American History) The land that the government was distributing belonged to various tribes of the Plains Indians. By having the Homestead Act in effect and encouraging settlers to migrate west, Plains Indians were forced into reservations. The real impact of Manifest Destiny was that it sent many settlers west, without realizing that the settlers were taking land from the Indians. The Indians that lived in the reservations had just enough food to keep their population alive, as well as living in unsanitary conditions with bacteria and diseases everywhere. The two options that the Indians had was to either live in the reservations with little to no food or to face genocide. Some Indian tribes tried to make amends with American troops who ushered the natives to reservations, but some American troops turned on the Indians. One incident of the American troops killing Indians was the Nez Perce war. This war was over a conflict of land and how some US troops did not agree on the settlement of the land. Technology is becoming is very common in sports to highlight the unfair decisions made by the referees during a game, it s a very complicated procedure to link technology with the sports, however introducing sensors like (proximity, motion sensor, impact sensors) in sports create a vast difference in the decision making of referees on field and also put fairness in the game and enjoyment for the audience coming into see the game. The invention of impact measurement and sensor technology uses the Piezo electric film sensors on the protective clothing worn by the players to help the referees to make accurate decision of scoring in a game. The recently introduced judgment making technologies has however, surged the accountability of the referee and judges to ensure the precision of scoring, as scores now come spontaneously from two sources (1) the electronic scoring system, (2) the judges via hand held electronic controllers. While the technology does mention about the points that may not have been seen via the open eyes due to the surged speed of the game and upturned complexity of practices, quite a lot of the interviewees expressed fear of points being scored through the closing of circuitry rather than power and/or technique. Similar to the majority of the religions in terms of origin, Christianity emerged from Judaism. Thus, resulting in not only comparable aspects common to both religions but also vast differences as well. Since one religion stemmed from the other, there are various overlaps between their values, beliefs, practices, and traditions. To begin with, like all Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Christianity are both monotheistic religions. Therefore meaning that they believe in only one God. This shared God is considered the almighty creator of everything, but is said to be an outside creation himself. However, Christian ideology expanded the monotheistic belief and created a new foundation concerning the essence of God. Despite its founding principles and the existing general beliefs regarding the classification of the religion, according to Judaic principles, Christianity is not considered to be truly monotheistic due to its belief in the Trinity. The Trinity is the doctrine that states that God possesses the form of three people, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Hence, the differing aspects in relation to monotheistic basis, instead of God existing in only one form for true monotheistic religions, he holds the capacity to appear in three manifestations in correspondence with Christian beliefs. Research Question: What is the effect of temperature on blood pressure and heart rate? Introduction: Blood transports nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, antibodies, urea and heat through our body. The heart is transports blood by pumping it through blood vessels. Blood flows from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. The pressure of blood in the circulatory system is a value called blood pressure (mmHg: millimeters of mercury ), which is measured by two numbers: systolic pressure and diastolic pressure. The systolic number is the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (when the heart muscle contracts), while the diastolic number is pressure in the arteries between heartbeats (when the heart muscle is resting between beats and refilling with blood). The ideal blood pressure is 120/80 mmHg. Heart rate on the other hand is the number of times (in one minute) that the heart beats or contracts. A heart rate can be anywhere between 60 and 100 beats per minute. This experiment will involve five individuals putting their left hand in different samples of water of varying temperatures. Their blood pressure and heart rate will be recorded before the experiment, and after each water trial, to determine the effect it has on both the blood pressure and heart rate. On a team, there is a much stronger sense of accountability and ownership regarding individual performance and its impact on the work of the whole (Sosik Jung, 2010, p. 305). • 24. Adaptations Are Broken Into Three Types Of Adaptations INTRODUCTION Adaptations are broken into three types of Adaptations. Structural, Physiological and Behavioural, these types of adaptations differ from one another changing a different aspect of the organism. Structural Adaptations are the change in appearance based on the organism s environment. Physiological Adaptations are the organisms body chemistry, metabolism, and reproductive attributes. Behavior Adaptations are the way in which an organism acts. THE RED KANGAROO The kangaroos ability to hop is a structural adaptation. The kangaroo s leg muscles spring when the kangaroo makes impact with the ground. This transfer from elastic potential energy to kinetic energy saves the kangaroo from using unnecessary energy to cover large distances. (As seen in figure 1) The female kangaroo s efficient breeding cycle also assists them in surviving the harsh environment. They have the ability, when pregnant, to put the growth of the embryo on hold until external conditions improve. This increases the chances of the young surviving. In times of drought, many kangaroos will die but when conditions are good female kangaroos can have three young ones with them at the same time: one as an embryo (not yet born), one in the pouch attached to a teat and one outside the pouch but still drinking the mother s milk. So please excuse me if I sound like an atheist. For one thing, God and the Greek gods are quite similar in how to act. Now we all know that God exists, but how accurate are the bible stories that describe God compared to that of the Greek ones and their Gods. In other words, how does Christianity compare to stories, fables, and myths? First I feel that it be best for me to take a step back to describe God in the clearest way possible. One of God s many traits is that of his immaculate wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to devise perfect ends and to achieve these ends by the most faultless means. In other words, God makes no mistakes. He is the Father who truly knows best, as Paul explains in Romans 11:33: Oh, how great are God s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways! So how do the other Greek gods with wisdom stack up against God? For one they are already short stacked because none of them have perfect wisdom and although they do have wisdom it is not the immaculate wisdom that God has. It will influence the future generations to why we consider environment has been important, create opportunities for generation to come, a culture that can be passed on and sense of appreciation of such an experience (Singer, 2011). This point may not so readily apply to a wider consequentialist approach, which attributes intrinsic value not only to pleasure or satisfaction, but also to various objects and processes in the natural environment (Singer, 2011). John Rawls states that the principle of fairness is important as it applies to individuals the principle of fairness are a link between the two principles of social or political justice and individual obligations to comply with specific social practices (Pogge, 2007). By expanding the scope of what one considers to be an end to include both aspects of nature as well as future generations, one can transform the implications of Rawls theory (Pogge, 2007). Rawls advances his theory of justice through what is called the Original Position which is a hypothetical situation in which all individuals are granted perfect equality and are asked to choose a principle of justice behind a veil of ignorance, which eliminates their biases (Pogge, 2007). The hypothetical persons in the Original Position, ignorant of who and what they will be in society and perfectly equal to one another, are able to truly come to a consensus as to what a just society would be (Pogge, 2007). • 39. Renewable Sources Of Solar Energy In the past decades, there has been an important argument regarding energy and its sources. Energy resources are classified into two groups: renewable and non renewable. Although renewable sources have not yet been exploited to their maximum, their use has been increasing since the 1960 s. The main renewable energy sources are Wind, Geothermal, and Solar energy. Contrary to renewable sources, non renewable sources lead in the production of electricity and other forms of energy. For non renewable sources, Fossil fuel and Coal are the main producers of energy in many parts of the world, followed by the Nuclear energy that has increased in its used and production in the past decades. Solar and nuclear energy are possible suitors in the task ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The safety regulations for the solar industry are mostly concentrated in the materials used for the production of PV cells. The greatest danger during the job itself is an employee falling from the PV cell platform(roof) during installation or maintenance. Regarding the fabrication, some compounds used may be harmful to the people or the environment if not wasted properly. An example is Tin Oxide (Sno2) which is known to be a water and soil contaminant. With respect to the environment, solar panels are considered friendly. These cells do not contaminate or pollute its surrounding, making them desirable when trying to reach a balance between nature and energy production in a specific location. Despite the fact that solar energy harvesting has been possible for decades, its use did not increase in the way it was expected. One of the main reasons behind the slow growth of solar energy harvesting is the economy surrounding it. The cost of photovoltaic cells has decreased significantly over the years, mainly due to improvements for mass production purposes, yet it has not proven to be affordable. In comparison with hydrocarbon energy, solar energy s cost is still high. Regardless its high cost, the solar industry produces positive economic impacts. Opposing to the decrement in job vacancies in the coal industry, solar industry increases job positions yearly. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The World Of Osama Bin Laden Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Barack Obama If that did not give you chills, then I do not know what will. Knowing that Osama Bin Laden is dead is one of America s biggest reliefs. I never thought that this day will come. I chose Osama Bin s speech to the nation about Osama Bin Laden being dead. In this paper, I am going to research and critically examine and evaluate by using the five classical canons of rhetoric. I will explain into detail Obama s speech dealing with the invention, organization, style, delivery, and memory. May 1, 2011 Barack Obama presented a speech to the American nation and the world that Osama Bin Laden was dead. Obama did this speech to inform the nation on the big news, but also to approve of his nation and other nations that helped find and were able to capture and have him killed. As he speaks to the nation, he stands next to an American flag. This suggests that he is proud of his nation and thankful for the country that he is president of. Obama did not only just state that Osama Bin Laden was dead; he brought the audience through a long journey on how they found Bin Laden. Invention is tied to the rhetorical appeal of logos, being oriented to what an author would say rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Video Game Piracy is the Biggest Issue Facing the Video... Video Game piracy is one of the biggest issues facing the video game industry, specifically PC gaming. It occurs every day, and is dramatically affecting the revenues earned by video game developers. Piracy can occur in a number of ways. The first possible method of video game piracy is burning content onto a disc. Someone can copy the contents of a game disc into a file on their computer and then burn those contents onto a blank disc. This disc can then be given or sold to someone as the full version of a game. Another technique that pirates use is called torrenting. This involves finding the code file for a video game and then transferring it into a playable version of the game. After this is done, the pirate can play the game for free and can even post this new playable file on the internet as a free download that anyone can access. Piracy is one of the biggest problems that video game developers have faced over the years. Many consumers like the idea of pirated games because it means that they can play games without paying for them. One of the arguments against video game developing companies is that games cost too much, so it is the developers faults that piracy exists. The only reason that video games are expensive is because they cost so much money to create. Many games these days cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars to develop, so the only way the company can make a profit is if they put the $60 price tag on their games. A second argument ... The Holocaust And The Survivors Of The Holocaust Even five years after the Holocaust, there were still survivors with nowhere to go.19 Few survivors attempted to return home, and most of those who did stayed only a short time. They learned it was nearly impossible for them to be in places so closely linked to their childhoods.20 Everything in their cities, towns and villages would remind them of years of humiliation of unthinkable atrocities, of tragedy and irreparable loss.21 Those few survivors that did decide to return to their home towns did not have it easy. Many survivors lost almost everything; not just their families and friends, but also their properties, businesses and belongings. Some survivors returning to their homes found them to have new tenants in them refusing to move. Others found out that their belongings like valuables or household items had been sold to fund the October 1943 rescue. By September 1945, 1,300 survivors of the Holocaust still had no permanent homes.22 Many returning survivors faced taunts and threats from people in their villages.23 There were also the physical aspects of attempting to return home. One Polish Jew named Dora Rytman had survived the Holocaust and wanted to go home. It was very difficult for anyone to return home because a lot of the tracks and roads were in pieces because of previous bombings. • 46. Pros And Cons Of The Parliament Of Great Britain Scotland and England have a long standing history with one another. They have always been in conflict with one another, especially when England tried to take over Scotland. But eventually, England succeeded in their attempts and, in 1706, their acts of union were passed. They eventually took effect in May 1, 1707. That day the Parliament of Great Britain was formed. The reason each side agreed on the Union was because both sides had something to gain from it. The English did not want the Scottish to choose a monarch from the one sitting on the English throne. On the other hand, the Scottish had a money problem from their attempt to colonize the Isthmus of Panama in the 1690s. But a large stretch of time has elapsed since that Union. A vote was held in Scotland on September 18, 2014 on whether or not Scotland should succeed from the United Kingdom. The Scottish had a rather large to make. Another large reason is the United Kingdom will cut them off financially. Since Scotland is a part of the UK, the country gives them money so they can sustain themselves. Twentieth century U.S. history saw two major episodes of repression and violence against communists and leftist radicals, that occurred approximately three decades apart. During the early part of the 1920s, America entered its first period of extreme anti communist sentiment, the First Red Scare. After the successful Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in 1917, American citizens began to fear the threat of communist influence at home. At the end of WWI, American workers unhappy with wages and spiralling inflation, launched widespread sometimes violent strikes with the support of growing labor unions. Some of these unions called for government takeover of private industries. For instance, railroad workers called for the national government to take permanent control of the railroad system. The growing waves strikes signalled a period of extreme civil unrest; American citizens became frightened that they would face a revolution similar to the one that had just taken place in Russia. In response, Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer, in an effort to gain the attention of American voters to support his presidential aspirations, launched a nationwide crusade against anyone he identified as having leftist views. Texas might be a small government state, but it is a proud and stubbornly independent one. With the 84th legislature imposing state will on local policies, politicians of all sorts are unhappy. Regardless, there are arguments both for and against local control, and overall, they have the public s best interests at heart. Texas Vox is an interest group that is all for local control. They refer to themselves as the voice of public citizen[s] in Texas (TexasVox). They consider their advocates to be very progressive, and favor things such as policies to lower electric bills, find new clean energy sources, as well as policies to stop nuclear plants and their unhealthy effects. They want to work with just local control to attain their goals. They want to ensure that the citizens have voices, even in the halls of power (TexasVox). Representative Matt Rinaldi however, has a different approach. He believes that the state controlling local ordinances would be considered in line with liberty.
