The Theme of Solitude and Lonliness in Mary Shelley s...
Themes are often included in literature in order to provide more meaning and an enhanced
understanding of the text. In the novel, Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley in 1818, Shelley
conveys the theme of solitude and loneliness through the featured characters and their actions.
Throughout the duration of this novel, we see Shelley using the characters Robert Walton, Victor
Frankenstein and his creation to introduce and emphasise this theme of loneliness and solitude. This
theme originates from Shelley s personal life and problems with her husband and father, which carry
over into the novel and make it more realistic. During the time Shelley was writing Frankenstein, she
was experiencing the emotional pains of her newborn s death and ... Show more content on

The creature describes his own desire for a family when he states, The more I saw of them, the greater
became my desire to claim their protection and kindness; my heart yearns to be known and loved by
these amiable creatures: to see their sweet looks directed towards me with affection, was the utmost
limit of my ambition . However, the rejection from this family is the precipitating event which leads to
it seeking revenge against its creator. The Creature reflects on its loneliness: Satan had his companions
(88), I was alone. I remembered Adam s supplication to his Creator; but where was mine? He had
abandoned me, and, in the bitterness of my heart, I cursed him (88) and I am an outcast in the world
forever (90). The loneliness of the Creature leads it to unbelievable acts of violence, the first one being
the killing of Frankenstein s youngest brother William. The Creature describes its horrible sin in detail
and states, I gazed on my victim, and my heart swelled with exultation and hellish triumph: clapping
my hands, I exclaimed, I too can create desolation; my enemy is not impregnable; this death will carry
despair to him, and a thousand other miseries shall torment and destroy him (97).
Captain Robert Walton s loneliness originates from being a failed poet who wants deeply desires
something great to occur to him. Walton s loneliness is augmented by the letters he sends to his sister,
Margaret Saville, and it

Reliability Analysis
Some researchers argue that the cost of spares is always an area where cost reduction can be of
significant. With the help of suppliers and equipment vendors, purchasing department can place orders
in the form of contracts or Service level agreement (SLA) that guarantee delivery lead times for the
designated inventory items. It makes business sense to shift the risk concerning the cost of
maintaining the inventory to the suppliers. Reliability is the probability that the plant will perform its
intended function satisfactory under specified environmental and operating conditions (British
standard, 2012). Reliability is the probability that the system is operating satisfactory at any given

Yan et al (2008) Ebeling (1997), pointed out the purpose of maintenance is to extend equipment life
and minimise the frequency of service interruption. Ebeling (1997) concluded that availability is the
important index of the all indices for power availability. Several maintenance types or tactics have
been suggested by many authors for example (Mowbray, 1991 and Kelly, 1997). There are mainly two
types of maintenance practices and these are breakdown and preventive maintenance. Breakdown
maintenance requires replacement of damaged part of the equipment during unscheduled maintenance
while preventive maintenance requires replacement of the components at pre determined intervals.
Condition based maintenance is used to monitor the condition of the equipment using condition
monitoring technique.
There is a general belief that corrective maintenance is less economical than preventive maintenance,
and all failures can then be prevented. This approach to preventive maintenance firstly wastes a lot of
resources in doing unnecessary tasks which will not improve equipment or system availability and
secondly it is potentially risk (Tsang,1995).Principal argument in favour of detailed and integrated

Knowledge And Characters In Shallow Graves By Kali Wallace
The Girl in the Grave
A girl who has been dead for over a year suddenly wakes up in her grave, and the first thing she does
is kill man. When Breezy wakes up in a backyard with a strange man standing over her, she is
frightened and scared. Throughout her journey, she learns to become less fearful and more determined.
She also learns that she is no longer human, and now has supernatural powers. She is soon to figure
out secrets about the the world, and how she died. Throughout the novel Shallow Graves by Kali
Wallace, Breezy portrays herself to be an intelligent, determined, and a supernatural young lady.
First, Breezy presents herself as an intelligent teenage girl who uses her knowledge in science and
math to help keep her grounded throughout the novel. In the story, she always carried around her
notebook to write down her observations and hypothesis (105). This habit displays her intelligence by
showing how involved she is in science, and how she uses it to advantage. This also displays her
intellectual abilities by showing how she can covert things she used in the classroom into her new life.
She furthermore demonstrates her intelligence by saying I worked it all out ...I convinced my teachers
to let me create independent math courses. (30). In that quote she was talking about her plan to get her
dream job at NASA. This can lead the

The First Form Of English Language
Editor Doug Larson once remarked, If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have
something to do with a shortage of flowers. Even at an early stage, all English learners realize how
complex and versatile the English language can be. Due to its extensive lineage and consistent
reformation, the English language holds a highly diversified panorama of linguistic landscape. Dating
back as early as 410 A.D., the fall of the Roman empire, neighboring countries and tribes vigorously
fought for the rule of England (Literature). In the act, they transformed human interaction and left
imprints of influence not only in monarchy or social paradigms, but in linguistic advancements as
well. The English language has been a hybridized substance molded in the hands of war, exploration,
and cultural innovation. The first form of English was developed during the Anglo Saxon period
which was initiated by the arrival of the Jutes, Saxons, and Angles to England around 449 A.D. The
mixture of the inhabitants Celtic and Latin based dialects in addition to the languages of the three
Germanic tribes, created what is now known as Old English (History). As the Anglo Saxons were
slowly converted to Christians, the number of written religious texts also increased which caused a
linguistic and cultural impact (Durkin). Philip Durkin stated that the impress of the literary culture of
Latin Christianity was one of the primary reasons why researchers were able to

learning theory is a form of child development, which express that children learn by observing other
individual behaviors. Transmission of aggression through imitation of aggressive models that is that

exhibited by an adult. This study differs from other studies by introducing subjects into a new setting

In today s society the idea of watching a film about a specific group of people and trying to brainwash
the people by the government would have a lot of people outraged and demand for our freedom from

Analysis Of Brave New World
Brave New World revolves around the idea of totalitarianism and is set in a futuristic world where the
State uses science and pleasure to form a controlled society. The novel argues that the most powerful
totalitarian state would be one that doesn t overwhelm and frighten its citizens, but instead manages to
convince its citizens to love their slavery. In the novel, the Director uses that the Bokanovsky Process
to help social stability because the clones (humans) it produces are made to do things that are told by
the State. The cloning process is one of the tools the World State uses to shows its guiding motto:
Community, Identity, Stability. (Huxley, 5) We see a world of unknown and dehumanized people
dominated by a government made powerful by the use of technology. The labs also symbolize how the
totalitarian State abuses technology for its own ends instead of using it to improve civilization. Also,
we see that the State has manipulated the people to believe that the actions of the State are the best for
everyone. This is evident in the quote The operation undergone voluntarily for the good of Society, not
to mention the fact that it carries a bonus amounting to six months salary ( Huxley,5) From this quote,
we can see how they control society yet make them feel good about what they are doing. Through the
quote, Till at last the child s mind is these suggestions, and the sum of the suggestions is the child s

The Common Reason For Vascular Dementia
Many people aren t aware of vascular dementia, and some of those who are aware of it misunderstand
the disease. It s very important to be educated on how the disease could affect you or someone you
care about, and how you maybe able to deal with it. Cerebrovascular disease, also known as vascular
dementia, is the second to most common form of dementia. It is characterized by blood vessels
changing over time in the cerebrum (brain). The most common reason for vascular dementia is due to
aging of the body; but it is also tied to cholesterol and the state of the walls of the blood vessels. Too
much cholesterol and overall poor health of blood vessels can cause a thickness in the lining of the
vessel walls, therefore cutting off some of the blood flow to the brain. Dementia often includes
symptoms such as memory loss, trouble doing normal everyday activities, and problem solving. Once
the symptoms come, they will most likely stay. They will only become worse and worse over time, so
it s necessary to try and come to terms with the disease. Caregivers can try to make the person affected
as comfortable as possible as their body is slowly transitioning. Because there is a loss of blood flow
to the brain, signals that are necessary in order to keep the body functioning properly eventually stop
being sent. The muscles will stop being sent signals to move, and sometimes the signal to breathe can
even be stopped. There are approximately 47.5 million people in the world who suffer

To that end they have adopted a two prong approach beginning with renewed marketing approaches to
increasing their market presence in the United States while growing the international business at a
much more rapid pace. In addition they intend to increase their distribution centers across the globe
while increasing their product lines. A recent business analysis pointed to the need for the latter as
sales were showing signs of stagnation. Also, Brown Forman is aggressively pursuing an online
presence as another avenue for improving their bottom line.
Their updated mission statement and slogan reflects a renewed outlook for potential sales building
forever. Brown Forman considers every adult of drinking age to be a possible and probable customer.
This mindset underscores the forward thinking embraced by company principles. As well, Brown
Forman has recently purchased four breweries across the country to support another expansion
strategy. The company intends to expand their presence in the beer market and will piggyback their
promotions on other made in America campaigns that have been successful for a plethora of other
products in the United States. Finally, certainly one of their most strategic plans is to be in front of the

In Shakespeare s Macbeth, both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth believe that manhood requires self
constraint, however the two differ their application of that constraint. While Macbeth restrains his
desires, Lady Macbeth restrains her sympathy. When Duncan arrives at Inverness, Macbeth says to his
wife: we will proceed no further in this business. [Duncan] hath honored me as of late, and I have
bought golden opinions from all sorts of people, which would be worn now in their newest gloss, not
cast aside so soon (1.7.34 38). Macbeth wants to kill Duncan and become the king. However, he halts

not feel guilty like Macbeth does because believes men must show emotional constraint if they are to

This caused each side to bring out their own armies and prepare for civil war. The liberals brought out
the old Tsarist Army to fight the Bolsheviks. The ideology between the dual powers was almost
illusionary, because it forced the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat7. The Provisional
Government believed in a government that supported it s citizens without the use of force, basically
everything the Tsar was against. The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army, and social equality. Since
the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants, the Bolsheviks decided that they
needed immediate action against the Provisional Government. The ideals each held were in stark
contrast, and once the unifying goal of removing the Tsar was achieved, the cooperation of the two
governments began to disintegrate. 3. The Major Failures The Provisional Government failed to solve
the major problems confronting the country such as the state of the country after the war, and the
distribution of power8. The government did not have a loyal army to help enforce it s power. This left
a power vacuum, allowing the country to enter a civil war. This caused the government to forfeit all of
the support it received before the 1917 Revolution. It also failed either to contain by force the

Essay about Character, Values and Morals in Huckleberry Finn
Character, Values and Morals in Huckleberry Finn
Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn is perhaps one of the most controversial novels the North American
Continent has ever produced. Since its publication more than a hundred years ago controversy has
surrounded the book. The most basic debate surrounding Twain s masterpiece is whether the book s
language and the character of Jim are presented in a racist manner. Many have called for the book to
be banned from our nation s schools and libraries. Mark Twain s novel is about a young boy who was

hate for blacks and pretty much for all of society. Huck, as a product of his society, speaks the
language of his society. By choosing as his point of view a young boy from the slave south, Twain is
able to present and challenge the values and assumptions of this time. Among the assumptions and
values of the time that the reader encounters in the book are the strict definitions pertaining to Huck s
world and the people who inhabit it:
The world of Huckleberry Finn presents a curious mixture of Calvinist principles and aristocratic
ideals. . . . We meet most of the fundamentalist Christian sects from their Sunday schools to their
Methodist and Presbyterian churches; from Revivalist camp meetings to lay preachers (like brother
Phelps) and ministers (like the Wilks brothers). We meet representatives of all three classes from
upper and lower orders of the ruling Whites to Blacks. For that is the first division: Whites (who are
people ) and Blacks (just niggers ). People , in their turn are further divided into two castes: the quality
and plain folks.
(Beaver 64 5)
In order for Huck to challenge any of the values and assumptions of the time he must first be
acquainted with them. And he is not only intimately acquainted with the values of his society but he
holds many of its beliefs himself. But Huck longs for freedom away

Generation Of Nurses
The differences between men and women in the unit that I work in is more by age than by grouped by
sex. The older generation of nurses seems to work more independently then be younger generations.
The older nurses are more solitary and do not embrace team nursing. The younger generation nurses
tend to work as team members and have a group belonging mentality. They patients are the unit s
patients and everyone has to work together. The older nurses own their patients, and no one should
touch them.
The older nurses are considered from the Baby Boomer generation and are typically in the fifties and
sixties (Borkowski, 2011 p. 39). These nurses tend to be long term employees who stay with tradition
and have a hard working attitude (Borkowski, 2011). The younger nurses would be in the Generation
X and Millennial age grouping, who tend to be less formal and have a more casual relationship with
their employer (Borkowski, 2011, P. 39). The different generations present unique management
challenges when handling the group s needs.

Chivalry In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte D Arthur
When you think of the word chivalry what do you think of? The word itself brings forth a medieval
aura, spiking thoughts and ideas of knights, kings, maybe even princesses and dragons. Chivalry can
be described as a knightly code, the bravery and virtuous fight for justice and the loyalty to the king.
In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte D Arthur, it is said by no means to be cruel, but to give mercy unto him
that asketh mercy, upon pain of forfeiture of their worship and lordship of King Arthur for evermore .
However, through the use of a more comedic form, this concept is somewhat ridiculed through the

Let XCC = 10KΩ and f = 20Hz (cut off frequency for the HPF)
But XCC = 1 = 10KΩ 2пfCc
Cc = 1 = 1 a = 0.796 x 10 6F 2пfXCc 2п x 20 x 10 x 103

C1 also forms a low pass filter with R1.

But R1 = 100KΩ, hence letting XC1 = 10KΩ and using a cut off frequency for the LPF = 20KHz,
XC1 = 1 2пfCc
C1 = 1 i
2п x 20 x 103 x 10 x 103 = 0.796 x 10 9F
The design value chosen for C1 = 1nF.
Similarly,

Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s Of The D
Author Thomas Hardy is typically distinguished for following a trend in which all his fiction is
characterized by chance being the incarnation of the blind forces controlling human destiny. As J
Clipper once said, Hardy reflected Nietzsche s agonized cry that God is dead , in his novels. His view
of life was that since there is no God to give meaning to life, Man is alone in the Universe, no better
and no worse than other creatures who live or have lived for a brief moment on this speck called
Earth. The Universe and fate is essentially malevolent and benevolent. Hardy believes that God,
whether he once was once a presence or not, has disappeared entirely from the world. People are left
to defend themselves and cope in a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tess is exposed to the cruelty of fate from the moment that God places her into the Durbyfield family.
Born into a poverty stricken and uneducated family, she is subject to the hardships that that entails.
Her Father an alcoholic and her Mother less of a woman than she is herself, her upbringing already
sets her apart from the rest of the world, and she recognizes her underprivileged condition. Did you
say the stars were worlds, Tess? Yes. All like ours? I don t know, but I think so. They sometimes seem
to be like the apples on our stubbard tree. Most of them splendid and sound a few blighted. Which do
we live on a Splendid one or a blighted one? A blighted one. (Hardy 54) Tess is raised in an
environment that encourages a belief in a kind of predetermination and fatality, demonstrated by the
fact that her mother often consults the complete fortune teller, an old book of astrological guidance.
Tess however has been educated, and thus does not subscribe to the same beliefs that her mother does.
In a similar way, Hardy uses Tess s father John Durbyfield to illustrate the power of fate to change one
s life. In chapter one, when John is told of the nobility that exists in their bloodline, he believes that
their life will soon be catastrophically changed. Don t you really know, Durbyfield, that you are the

Grotesque In Sherwood Anderson s Winesburg Ohio
Most people when asked to describe what the word grotesque means they might refer to the dictionary
s definition of the word, which according to The American Heritage Dictionary the meaning of
grotesque is characterized by ludicrous, repulsive, or incongruous distortion, as of appearance or
manner. Not only can one be grotesque with one s appearance but also their behavior. Sherwood
Anderson in his book Winesburg Ohio mentions that the grotesques were not all horrible. Some were
amusing, some almost beautiful . Anderson lets the reader know that a grotesque is not so just because
of their physical appearance but, was the truths that made the people grotesque. People in Andersons
book took one of these truths to himself, called it his truth, and tried to live his life by it, he became a
grotesque and the truth he embraced became a falsehood. (Anderson 8). Elizabeth Willard by this
definition is the worst grotesque in this book. She has been transformed by her beliefs into a sad, ugly

A connection between an author and his or her characters lies in the stories given to the reader, as well

Walker, and her characters, Dee and Maggie, in Everyday Use. An example of a connection between
the narrator and her characters are their common lifestyle. After the reader views deeper into Walker s
childhood they would notice that Walker grew up in an environment much like that described in the
story. Her parents were both sharecroppers, her family lived in a rundown shack, and racial
segregation was legally enforced, prompting the author to describe the times as America s own era of

Ethnocentrism vs. Cultural Relativism
Ethnocentrism and Cultural Relativism
Ethnocentrism and cultural relativism are two contrasting terms that are displayed by different people
all over the world. Simply put, ethnocentrism is defined as judging other groups from the perspective
of one s own cultural point of view. Cultural relativism, on the other hand, is defined as the view that
all beliefs are equally valid and that truth itself is relative, depending on the situation, environment,
and individual. Each of these ideas has found its way into the minds of people worldwide. The
difficult part is attempting to understand why an individual portrays one or the other. It is a question

From then on, however, anything involving Arabic culture was deemed that of terrorists.
This process does work both ways, however. Citizens of other nations have long made it clear that
they believe Americans are nothing but greedy, power hungry people. I have known several people
that visited France, for example, and were treated as though they did not belong because they were
Americans.
Cultural relativism means the exact opposite of ethnocentrism. It can be summed up as believing that
all religious, ethical, aesthetic, and political beliefs are completely relative to the individual within a
cultural identity (www.cultural relativism.com). This means that there is no definite right or wrong ,
but rather an ever changing set of values for each separate culture.
I have not personally witnessed cultural relativism, however I do know that it very well exists. An
example of this idea is in something such as equality in the workplace for both men and women. A
person following the cultural relativist perspective would say that it is wrong to deny women that
equality in the workplace in America today. The cultural relativist would also say, however, that there
is a culture where it is acceptable to limit certain areas of freedom from women.
These two intricate issues will continue to be a part of every society until the end of time. One can

The Importance Of The Somme On The Home Front
In 1916, the battle of the Somme began, intending to end the war for the allies. It pitted an
unexperienced British army, against a professional German one. It was also, however significant in
many ways. Two of the main areas where the battle of the Somme was significant were in its military
value, and the reactions it caused, on the home front. The battle of the Somme, intended to end the war
that year, had ambitious objectives, it was significant for failing to achieve almost all of these. One of
these was Beaumont Hamel, a fortified village behind the German lines. The Battle plan called for the
village to be taken on the first day. The fact that the village was not taken until the very end of the
battle on the 13th of November, illustrates how much the plan failed. Demonstrating the level to which
the plan failed Private Anthony Stacey reports that this was a death trap for our boys as the enemy just
set the sights of their machine guns on the gaps in the barbed wire and fired . Another objective, Serre,
was not taken at all. In fact, the British staff were so unaware of modern weapons, that they had
cavalry ready to attack after the infantry broke through. This is significant as it shows how
inexperienced the British army was when it came to trench warfare. Had the staff understood the
trench tactics better, they would not have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I have chosen psychosexual and psychosocial development; for my model of presentation. In Freudian
psychology, psychosexual development is a central element of the psychoanalytic sexual drive theory,
that human beings, from birth, possess an instinctual libido (sexual energy) that develops in five
stages. Each stage the oral, the anal, the phallic, the latent, and the genital is characterized by the
erogenous zone that is the source of the libidinal drive. Sigmund Freud proposed that if the child
experienced sexual frustration in relation to any psychosexual developmental stage, he or she would
experience anxiety that would persist into adulthood as a neurosis, a functional mental disorder

Between World War one and world war two, Americans went to Europe to train for psychoanalysis.
Ego psychology was the main therapeutic perspective that was brought back to America. For 50 years
this type of psychoanalysis was based centrally on Sigmund Freud s The Ego and the Id (1923) and
The Problem of Anxiety (1936), followed by Anna Freud s Ego and the Mechanisms of Defense
(1936) and Heinz Hartmann s Psychoanalysis and the Problem of Adaptation (1939). (American

The Russian Transitional Economy Essay
SBEJ review paper Comments to the Author The paper tackles an important and interesting topic such
as Barriers to Entrepreneurship. The context of investigation in the Russian transitional economy adds
value to the paper too. However, here are some of the major comments 1. The original element of the
paper is use of use of Double Bind Situation (DBS) theory to explain the entrepreneurial behavior in
an extreme environment of transition. In particular, the paper does greater in terms of addressing the
interactions of entrepreneurs and state individuals using DBST. Use of this theory to explain
entrepreneurial behavior is important contribution to the field. 2. The review of entrepreneurship
literature dealing with barriers is very brief. Author(s) should discuss more critically this literature by
pointing some limitations. For example, paper argues that several authors have conceived of barriers
as static while there is no discussion of some recent studies that use panel data technique, add dynamic
component in their analysis, and of course overcome some of limitations of previous cross sectional
studies. The studies, analysis in the theoretical part are based on the cross sectional. 3. Data and
method needs some more careful details and discussion. First, there is no clear discussion how the
sample of qualitative interviews was selected. This is very critical for implications of the study and its
limitations. 4. Author(s) claim that businesses for the study were either

What Is Your Goal In Life Essay
As a young woman in today s society, I am constantly told to live in the now. This phrase is frequently
said by my peers to me to reassure me that despite feeling like I do not have my life completely

mindset, largely because I am so young and want to appreciate every moment that life has to offer.
However, as I move forward into my adult life, I am beginning to realize the importance of setting
goals in my life. This is not only because I want my life to have a purpose so that I am not just

This was probably another reason Stella did such an evil deed. Stella without remorse stole Magda s
only thread of hope for survival. The shawl that stella stole was the only driving force keeping Magda
alive. She purposefully ripped it from her to lead to her demise. This really showed who stella was and
who she was always going to be. Even after Stella escaped the camp and made a life for herself she
was still the same cold, selfish, and spiteful girl she had been in the camp. Ozick writing Stella as such
an awful antagonist definitely got the theme across that betraying the ones you love and being self

Toyota Financial Analysis Paper
Introduction For my project I have chosen a Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) – an international
automobile manufacturer. In addition, Toyota provides retail and wholesale financing, retail leasing
and certain other financial services primarily to its dealers and their customers related to vehicles
manufactured by Toyota. The major portions of Toyota s operations on a worldwide basis are derived
from the Automotive and Financial Services business segments. The Company also has an All Other
segment, which includes its non automotive business activities. The most significant of Toyota s other
operations are its information technology (IT) related businesses and pre fabricated housing. The
company was established in 1937. The Toyota group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toyota has invested in several joint ventures. These joint ventures may be deemed as variable interest
entities, however, neither the aggregate size of these JVs nor Toyota s involvements in these entities
are expected to be material to Toyota s consolidated financial statements. In February 2003, EITF
reached a consensus on Issue of Accounting for the Transfer to the Japanese Government of the
Substitutional Portion of Employee Pension Fund Liabilities. Toyota has already begun the separation
process. However, no effect of this transaction has been recognized in the consolidated financial
statements for the year ended March 31, 2003 as the completion of the transfer of the benefit
obligation and related plan assets to the Japanese government is expected in the year ending March 31,
2004. Subseqent events, errors and irregularities, illegal acts or related party transactions TMC did not
get involved into any related party transactions. TMC enters only in business interactions with its
business partners, contract suppliers and affiliated companies. There were no errors or irregularities
reported for the TMC for the year ended March 31, 2003. There were some factors that could
influence the future operations of the company. TMC was involved in various pending and settled
court proceedings that could have an impact in the future. I will describe only the most important
ones: 1. In February 2003 Toyota

Spies Monologue
I was born in an immense castle that belonged to the royal family in England. My parents, John and
Sarah, were some of the kindest people that anyone could ever meet. I also had a brother who the
country loved while they hated me. My father was the Monarch so he did many things which caused
me to not see him much. I grew up a spoiled and ungrateful individual. When I was 16, I planned to
murder my father so I wouldn t have to wait until he died to take the throne. One night, I slipped some
poisonous mushrooms into his lamb that he was having for dinner. He experienced agony all
throughout the night until he finally perished. The whole country mourned his loss while I celebrated.
The next day, I took the throne. I ruled for three months without an issue, then one of my advisors
complained. He was my father s greatest adviser and served my father since the beginning. He stated,
You need to do something for this country. You should share your money as well as trying to help the
people.

Their numbers grew slowly and they decided to attack me on the one year anniversary of the former
king s death. I gathered all my troops to defend me and my castle. Justice came at the crack of dawn
and attacked. I didn t realize that their numbers were superior to my own. Justice massacred my troops
and came for me. They dragged me out of the castle and flogged me. They took over my castle with
all my money inside. The people who hated me the most left me alive so I could feel what it was like
to be poor. Later that day, the leaders of Justice selected my younger brother as the new Monarch
because the whole country loved him. The country flourished under his reign while I was left to walk

Brovs Vs Romanovs
On the absolutist side you had the leaders of Spain, France, and Russia all laying claim on their areas,
and they were saying that they had absolute power and answered to no one besides themselves and
God.Then, in England there was constitutional side where there was a leader who was either voted in
or was born in to play. In England, the leader most commonly came from a royal line. The difference
in England was that the king didn t have the absolute power or say. Most events would be put up for a
vote where the parliament would have a say in what happened as they were the financial backers. In
the absolutist monarchy the disadvantage was with the peasants as they got little reward while the
biggest advantage was with the king. Take for example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If that leader can t assure the security than others are needed and it no longer acts as an absolute
government. Louis succeeded in running France successfully for quite a time just as the Romanov
family ruled Russia making it an incredible military power. The Romanovs showcased the success of
an absolutist monarchy by being in control until 1917. In a constitutional monarchy one could say a
great advantage came in that normal people had a voice. In comparison, there is the absolutist
monarch who doesn t take anyone s vote while the constitutional monarch will hear from the
nobleman what one may hear from the peasants. Charles I felt the true strength of parliament when he
needed financial backing, and the backing would only be given when he agreed that parliament would
have a vote in ordinary taxing and unfair imprisonment. The parliament itself was made up of
nobleman as well as landowners and merchants who all wanted a say in that the parliament couldn t be
broken up when Charles didn t like what they were doing. The constitutional monarchy may have a
king, but it s not the kind that controls the country

Attitudes Toward Native Americans In The Age Of Discovery
There were many different policies and attitudes of European Americans toward Native Americans in
the age of Discovery. The responses of the various nations of Native Americans to the arrival of
Europeans after 1492, and the manner in which they dealt with their presence, varied differently from
one group to another. Responses to encounters between both groups depended on cultural
characteristics, or on the economic and political circumstances which they found themselves in. Just
as there was no universal Indian response to the encounter there were also many significant
differences in the ways the Europeans and others approached the natives whose land they were intent
on occupying. Europeans having arrived in the New World were there in search for the path to riches
and the latter not caring who was going to be harmed or whose property was destroyed in the process
for their own selfish greed. A brief comparison of various encounters between several Native
American nations and European settlers of various periods will demonstrate the series of fundamental
factors that had an impact of the relationships between the various groups. There was however, one
universal characteristic among the Europeans which was that all Europeans of whatever social origin
considered themselves superior to the Native Americans and this was reflected in their ... Show more

that our moving process upon other land was already occupied and sustained lives of others who were

High Plains Aquifer
The High Plains aquifer was formed from erosion and transporting materials of sands, clay, and gravel
from the Rocky Mountains from stream flows. This aquifer provides water for uses of irrigation and
drinking water for eight of the fifty states which are South Dakota, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado,
Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, and Wyoming. Since this aquifer spans over a vast area, it is
considered the largest in the United States. Also, because this aquifer passes through eight different
states, each state has a different policy about how each said state should handle the conservation of the
ground water that provides water to nearly 2.3 million people, and because it covers such a large area
over agricultural land, most of the water is used in irrigating the crops for 30 percent of the United
States (Dennehy, 2013). The discrepancies between the eight states the aquifer overlies causes huge
problems involving the depletion of the groundwater source if certain measures are not taken to
sustain the livelihood of The High Plains Aquifer (Mann, 2009).
The High Plains Aquifer s main source of recharging comes from precipitation at a low rate below .30
inches in parts of Texas, but over 5 inches in some parts of the other eight states within the aquifer s
territory including Kansas and Nebraska (Dennehy, 2013). The issues with in managing the ... Show

Essay The Doukhobors, Sons of Freedom and the Canadian...
The Sons of Freedom are a small radical group that diverged from a religious sect known as the
Doukhobors. This zealous and revivalist subsect evolved from the Doukhobors only to gain the
government s attention for their extremely radical acts. They have initiated bombings, arson, nudist
parades, and hunger strikes, all in protest to the land ownership and registration laws of Canada. Such
obscene and violent demonstrations have caused a great deal of conflict between the Sons of Freedom
and the Canadian government s legal system and have also generated much public resentment.
However, should the State of Canada have imposed laws upon this minority group that blatantly
conflicted with their religious beliefs?
The Doukhobors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One law, requiring an oath of allegiance to the Crown (to secure their land ownership) caused
problems since they believed allegiance should only be pledged to God. They also wished for better
land provisions similar to those for Indians. Frustrated Doukhobors thus formed the Sons of God ,
which eventually became the radical Sons of Freedom. In fact, their lifestyle was quite out of place in
the prairies. They actually used men and women to pull wagons in an attempt to emancipate animals
and they travelled barefoot on pilgrimages in search of a Promised Land, which seemed rather odd to
Canadian citizens. Other bizarre religious beliefs seemed to bring controversy such as their
disapproval of the Canadian laws regarding marriage, birth and death registration. Four Doukhobor
men were even sentenced to three months imprisonment for failing to register a death. The Dominion
Land Act which required registration of the land also caused problems for the Doukhobors. While this
conflicted with their religious beliefs regarding owning private property, many reluctantly signed the
registration. The Sons of Freedom felt such an act was causing the other Doukhobors to be secularised
into Canadian society. In response to this, the Sons of Freedom began to evangelise in the nude during
the spring of 1903, starting a revivalist movement.

Ron Toomer s The Big Bad Wolf
All roller coasters depend on many different kinds of energies to go through the track to its finish. The
highest roller coaster is approximately two hundred and one feet tall. This roller coaster is also known
as the Magnum, which has a peak speed of seventy miles per hour. It was designed by Ron Toomer,
who was born in Pasadena, California on May 31, 1930. Toomer made many rides that revolutionized
roller coasters worldwide. Even though he was prone to motion sickness as a child, he was able to
make ninety three roller coasters throughout his lifetime until his death in 2011. The Big Bad Wolf
was one of his most original rides. When roller coasters are made, it takes around six to twelve months
of actual planning to build the whole blueprint

Inequality In America And The American Dream
Even though U. S is the land of opportunities, it seems just as impossible to achieve the American
dream. The American system is controlled by the wealthy who choose, which laws to impose in the
benefit for themselves and organization. The inequality between the poor and rich is so wide this
makes the American dream for most Americans impossible to achieve. To be wealthy like top 1% of
the Americans, you need freedom of choice, an inheritance from rich parents and work hard to achieve
the American dream. Before going to my claim, inequality is a interesting topic, which deserves a little
attention. Inequality in America has grown over the past and in fact, it is still growing at a very fast
rate. Income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, since it is freedom of choice not only does it let us achieve our goals and fulfilment but
also it is important whether or not it makes us happy. Most people who are very successful today is
because they did what they loved doing what they did. For example, Bill Gates who is the richest
person in the world dropped out of Harvard University and started working on his Microsoft software
because it was something he loved doing, and now he the richest in the world. By contrast, majorities
say freedom of choice in how to live (77%), having a good family life (70%) and retiring comfortably
(60%) are essential to their view of the American dream (Samantha 7 13). From this fact we can tell
that freedom of choice is very important, that is why we have wealthy people in America. Wish
American parents should start allowing their children to make their choices but should be there just to
encourage and guide them. To be wealthy like top 1% of the Americans, coming from a rich home
inheriting your parent s wealth will increase your chances of being rich. This method of being rich is
quite easy because you do not really have to do anything to be rich since you would just inherit your
parent s wealth, that is if your parents are very wealthy. When mentioned anything above, you do not
really have to work or look for a job because your parents are already wealthy. The only thing you
need to worry about is a means of making more money, which might

Alligator Harm
In a breakthrough study that contradict decades of understanding, Louisiana state university
researchers has concluded that a person s drunkenness does not impair the ancient reptiles ability too
inflict enormous physical harm. Our data indicates that human intoxication do not transform an
alligator into a docile creature that enjoys wrestling said professor Ryder Strong, chair of LSU s
prestigious Center for Bullying and Hazing Studies. Despite it s slow witted demeanor and tendency
to bask motionlessly in the hot sun, its a mistake to believe that an alligator will passively tolerate a
half nelson, no matter how much Southern Comfort is fueling it . Strong said that the study yielded
statistics that speak for themselves. In 10 out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even when armed with an empty tequila bottle. At best, the bottles bounced harmlessly off the
alligator s snout said LSU research assistant Tracy Sawyer. Also, Sawyer noted that when placed in
water, the drunken volunteers fared even worse, while the alligator performed markedly better in
addition, the alligators far outperformed their inebriated human counterparts in the following areas
lunging, biting, crushing, dismembering, and swallowing. According to the study, an alligators
characteristic grin should not be interpreted as a lighthearted reaction to the outrageous nerve of an
inebriated human. Don t let an alligator s easygoing appearance fool you, Sawyer says. These
creatures has no sympathy for drunken pranksters looking for fun. They are not like black bears. An
expert in the field, alligator wrestling is something Strong suggests should be undertaken only by
professionals. For drunkards interested in proving there mettle with alligators, the researchers
proposed certain guidelines. Instead of baiting an alligator, they suggest seeking another form of
drunken recreation, such as: attending a strip club, burning a pile of tires, calling an ex girlfriend, or
paint one s rear end with a funny face and videotape

  • 2. The Theme of Solitude and Lonliness in Mary Shelley s... Themes are often included in literature in order to provide more meaning and an enhanced understanding of the text. In the novel, Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley in 1818, Shelley conveys the theme of solitude and loneliness through the featured characters and their actions. Throughout the duration of this novel, we see Shelley using the characters Robert Walton, Victor Frankenstein and his creation to introduce and emphasise this theme of loneliness and solitude. This theme originates from Shelley s personal life and problems with her husband and father, which carry over into the novel and make it more realistic. During the time Shelley was writing Frankenstein, she was experiencing the emotional pains of her newborn s death and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creature describes his own desire for a family when he states, The more I saw of them, the greater became my desire to claim their protection and kindness; my heart yearns to be known and loved by these amiable creatures: to see their sweet looks directed towards me with affection, was the utmost limit of my ambition . However, the rejection from this family is the precipitating event which leads to it seeking revenge against its creator. The Creature reflects on its loneliness: Satan had his companions (88), I was alone. I remembered Adam s supplication to his Creator; but where was mine? He had abandoned me, and, in the bitterness of my heart, I cursed him (88) and I am an outcast in the world forever (90). The loneliness of the Creature leads it to unbelievable acts of violence, the first one being the killing of Frankenstein s youngest brother William. The Creature describes its horrible sin in detail and states, I gazed on my victim, and my heart swelled with exultation and hellish triumph: clapping my hands, I exclaimed, I too can create desolation; my enemy is not impregnable; this death will carry despair to him, and a thousand other miseries shall torment and destroy him (97). Captain Robert Walton s loneliness originates from being a failed poet who wants deeply desires something great to occur to him. Walton s loneliness is augmented by the letters he sends to his sister, Margaret Saville, and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the help of suppliers and equipment vendors, purchasing department can place orders in the form of contracts or Service level agreement (SLA) that guarantee delivery lead times for the designated inventory items. It makes business sense to shift the risk concerning the cost of maintaining the inventory to the suppliers. Yan et al (2008) Ebeling (1997), pointed out the purpose of maintenance is to extend equipment life and minimise the frequency of service interruption. Ebeling (1997) concluded that availability is the important index of the all indices for power availability. Several maintenance types or tactics have been suggested by many authors for example (Mowbray, 1991 and Kelly, 1997). There are mainly two types of maintenance practices and these are breakdown and preventive maintenance. Breakdown maintenance requires replacement of damaged part of the equipment during unscheduled maintenance while preventive maintenance requires replacement of the components at pre determined intervals. Condition based maintenance is used to monitor the condition of the equipment using condition monitoring technique. There is a general belief that corrective maintenance is less economical than preventive maintenance, and all failures can then be prevented. This approach to preventive maintenance firstly wastes a lot of resources in doing unnecessary tasks which will not improve equipment or system availability and secondly it is potentially risk (Tsang,1995).Principal argument in favour of detailed and integrated asset information system that is accurate and unchallenged information is available to anyone with skills to analyse and interpret it for the benefit of a company (Sherwin, 2000).Predictive scheduling relies more on ... • 5. The First Form Of English Language Editor Doug Larson once remarked, If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers. Even at an early stage, all English learners realize how complex and versatile the English language can be. Due to its extensive lineage and consistent reformation, the English language holds a highly diversified panorama of linguistic landscape. Dating back as early as 410 A.D., the fall of the Roman empire, neighboring countries and tribes vigorously fought for the rule of England (Literature). In the act, they transformed human interaction and left imprints of influence not only in monarchy or social paradigms, but in linguistic advancements as well. The English language has been a hybridized substance molded in the hands of war, exploration, and cultural innovation. The first form of English was developed during the Anglo Saxon period which was initiated by the arrival of the Jutes, Saxons, and Angles to England around 449 A.D. The mixture of the inhabitants Celtic and Latin based dialects in addition to the languages of the three Germanic tribes, created what is now known as Old English (History). As the Anglo Saxons were slowly converted to Christians, the number of written religious texts also increased which caused a linguistic and cultural impact (Durkin). Philip Durkin stated that the impress of the literary culture of Latin Christianity was one of the primary reasons why researchers were able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Common Reason For Vascular Dementia Many people aren t aware of vascular dementia, and some of those who are aware of it misunderstand the disease. It s very important to be educated on how the disease could affect you or someone you care about, and how you maybe able to deal with it. Cerebrovascular disease, also known as vascular dementia, is the second to most common form of dementia. It is characterized by blood vessels changing over time in the cerebrum (brain). The most common reason for vascular dementia is due to aging of the body; but it is also tied to cholesterol and the state of the walls of the blood vessels. Too much cholesterol and overall poor health of blood vessels can cause a thickness in the lining of the vessel walls, therefore cutting off some of the blood flow to the brain. Dementia often includes symptoms such as memory loss, trouble doing normal everyday activities, and problem solving. Once the symptoms come, they will most likely stay. They will only become worse and worse over time, so it s necessary to try and come to terms with the disease. Caregivers can try to make the person affected as comfortable as possible as their body is slowly transitioning. Because there is a loss of blood flow to the brain, signals that are necessary in order to keep the body functioning properly eventually stop being sent. The muscles will stop being sent signals to move, and sometimes the signal to breathe can even be stopped. There are approximately 47.5 million people in the world who suffer ... This caused each side to bring out their own armies and prepare for civil war. The liberals brought out the old Tsarist Army to fight the Bolsheviks. The ideology between the dual powers was almost illusionary, because it forced the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat7. The Provisional Government believed in a government that supported it s citizens without the use of force, basically everything the Tsar was against. The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army, and social equality. Since the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants, the Bolsheviks decided that they needed immediate action against the Provisional Government. The ideals each held were in stark contrast, and once the unifying goal of removing the Tsar was achieved, the cooperation of the two governments began to disintegrate. 3. The Major Failures The Provisional Government failed to solve the major problems confronting the country such as the state of the country after the war, and the distribution of power8. The government did not have a loyal army to help enforce it s power. This left a power vacuum, allowing the country to enter a civil war. Among the assumptions and values of the time that the reader encounters in the book are the strict definitions pertaining to Huck s world and the people who inhabit it: The world of Huckleberry Finn presents a curious mixture of Calvinist principles and aristocratic ideals. . . . People , in their turn are further divided into two castes: the quality and plain folks. The Stamp Act was a law geared toward the American colonist to pay taxes on paper goods due to the French and Indian War. There were some colonist who believed that there should be no taxation without representation and they called themselves the Sons of Liberty. They believed themselves as patriots fighting for their rights but I view them as terrorist. They are terrorist because they condoned looting, vandalism, the tarring and feathering of people and most of all making terroristic threats, which are all characteristics of a terrorist group. Although violence tried to arise due to tempers the group did not give in to mob mentality. They did not drag the officers out of the department and tar them, nor did they vandalize the building. The word itself brings forth a medieval aura, spiking thoughts and ideas of knights, kings, maybe even princesses and dragons. Chivalry can be described as a knightly code, the bravery and virtuous fight for justice and the loyalty to the king. In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte D Arthur, it is said by no means to be cruel, but to give mercy unto him that asketh mercy, upon pain of forfeiture of their worship and lordship of King Arthur for evermore . Theories Of Personality And Psychosocial Development Psychoanalysis and Psychosexuality Carolyn Bennett PSY/330 Theories of Personality Maurita Hodge 04/27/2015 I have chosen psychosexual and psychosocial development; for my model of presentation. In Freudian psychology, psychosexual development is a central element of the psychoanalytic sexual drive theory, that human beings, from birth, possess an instinctual libido (sexual energy) that develops in five stages. Each stage the oral, the anal, the phallic, the latent, and the genital is characterized by the erogenous zone that is the source of the libidinal drive. Sigmund Freud proposed that if the child experienced sexual frustration in relation to any psychosexual developmental stage, he or she would experience anxiety that would persist into adulthood as a neurosis, a functional mental disorder (Wikipedia) Between World War one and world war two, Americans went to Europe to train for psychoanalysis. Ego psychology was the main therapeutic perspective that was brought back to America. For 50 years this type of psychoanalysis was based centrally on Sigmund Freud s The Ego and the Id (1923) and The Problem of Anxiety (1936), followed by Anna Freud s Ego and the Mechanisms of Defense (1936) and Heinz Hartmann s Psychoanalysis and the Problem of Adaptation (1939). • 40. The Russian Transitional Economy Essay SBEJ review paper Comments to the Author The paper tackles an important and interesting topic such as Barriers to Entrepreneurship. The context of investigation in the Russian transitional economy adds value to the paper too. However, here are some of the major comments 1. The original element of the paper is use of use of Double Bind Situation (DBS) theory to explain the entrepreneurial behavior in an extreme environment of transition. In particular, the paper does greater in terms of addressing the interactions of entrepreneurs and state individuals using DBST. Use of this theory to explain entrepreneurial behavior is important contribution to the field. 2. The review of entrepreneurship literature dealing with barriers is very brief. Author(s) should discuss more critically this literature by pointing some limitations. For example, paper argues that several authors have conceived of barriers as static while there is no discussion of some recent studies that use panel data technique, add dynamic component in their analysis, and of course overcome some of limitations of previous cross sectional studies. The studies, analysis in the theoretical part are based on the cross sectional. 3. Data and method needs some more careful details and discussion. First, there is no clear discussion how the sample of qualitative interviews was selected. This is very critical for implications of the study and its limitations. 4. • 41. What Is Your Goal In Life Essay As a young woman in today s society, I am constantly told to live in the now. This phrase is frequently said by my peers to me to reassure me that despite feeling like I do not have my life completely together at the moment, that it is important to take a step back and enjoy the events going on in my life currently, as well as to take decisions that I make one step at a time. It is fairly easy to conform to this mindset, largely because I am so young and want to appreciate every moment that life has to offer. However, as I move forward into my adult life, I am beginning to realize the importance of setting goals in my life. This is not only because I want my life to have a purpose so that I am not just fumbling throughout my college career with no end goal in mind, but also because it is an amazing feelings to work so hard towards a goal and have all my hard work pay off in the end in order to achieve said goals. While at the camp stella saw the bond that Rosa and Magda had. She was envious of the love that they shared. Stella herself wanted to be cared and nurtured for like Magda was. Something else that drove Stella to act the way she did was the fact that Magda was different from them. Magda was not like the other jews in the concentration camp. Although she only a baby, Magda had the features of an aryan . This was probably another reason Stella did such an evil deed. Stella without remorse stole Magda s only thread of hope for survival. The shawl that stella stole was the only driving force keeping Magda alive. She purposefully ripped it from her to lead to her demise. This really showed who stella was and who she was always going to be. Even after Stella escaped the camp and made a life for herself she was still the same cold, selfish, and spiteful girl she had been in the camp. • 46. Attitudes Toward Native Americans In The Age Of Discovery There were many different policies and attitudes of European Americans toward Native Americans in the age of Discovery. The responses of the various nations of Native Americans to the arrival of Europeans after 1492, and the manner in which they dealt with their presence, varied differently from one group to another. Responses to encounters between both groups depended on cultural characteristics, or on the economic and political circumstances which they found themselves in. Just as there was no universal Indian response to the encounter there were also many significant differences in the ways the Europeans and others approached the natives whose land they were intent on occupying. Europeans having arrived in the New World were there in search for the path to riches and the latter not caring who was going to be harmed or whose property was destroyed in the process for their own selfish greed. A brief comparison of various encounters between several Native American nations and European settlers of various periods will demonstrate the series of fundamental factors that had an impact of the relationships between the various groups. • 47. High Plains Aquifer The High Plains aquifer was formed from erosion and transporting materials of sands, clay, and gravel from the Rocky Mountains from stream flows. This aquifer provides water for uses of irrigation and drinking water for eight of the fifty states which are South Dakota, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, and Wyoming. Since this aquifer spans over a vast area, it is considered the largest in the United States. Also, because this aquifer passes through eight different states, each state has a different policy about how each said state should handle the conservation of the ground water that provides water to nearly 2.3 million people, and because it covers such a large area over agricultural land, most of the water is used in irrigating the crops for 30 percent of the United States (Dennehy, 2013). The discrepancies between the eight states the aquifer overlies causes huge problems involving the depletion of the groundwater source if certain measures are not taken to sustain the livelihood of The High Plains Aquifer (Mann, 2009). The High Plains Aquifer s main source of recharging comes from precipitation at a low rate below .30 inches in parts of Texas, but over 5 inches in some parts of the other eight states within the aquifer s territory including Kansas and Nebraska (Dennehy, 2013). They have initiated bombings, arson, nudist parades, and hunger strikes, all in protest to the land ownership and registration laws of Canada. One law, requiring an oath of allegiance to the Crown (to secure their land ownership) caused problems since they believed allegiance should only be pledged to God. They also wished for better land provisions similar to those for Indians. Frustrated Doukhobors thus formed the Sons of God , which eventually became the radical Sons of Freedom. In fact, their lifestyle was quite out of place in the prairies. They actually used men and women to pull wagons in an attempt to emancipate animals and they travelled barefoot on pilgrimages in search of a Promised Land, which seemed rather odd to Canadian citizens. Other bizarre religious beliefs seemed to bring controversy such as their disapproval of the Canadian laws regarding marriage, birth and death registration. Four Doukhobor men were even sentenced to three months imprisonment for failing to register a death. The Dominion Land Act which required registration of the land also caused problems for the Doukhobors. While this conflicted with their religious beliefs regarding owning private property, many reluctantly signed the registration. The Sons of Freedom felt such an act was causing the other Doukhobors to be secularised into Canadian society. In response to this, the Sons of Freedom began to evangelise in the nude during the spring of 1903, starting a revivalist movement. The Sons of Freedoms reproach to ... By contrast, majorities say freedom of choice in how to live (77%), having a good family life (70%) and retiring comfortably (60%) are essential to their view of the American dream (Samantha 7 13).
