Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wealth In Beowulf
In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, it discusses the advantages and
disadvantages of wealth that are shown in today s modern society.
In Beowulf, the epic depicts an abundance of scenes of how wealth, in today s modern culture, shows
someone s power. One way the benefit of wealth is shown in Beowulf by the kings in not solely the
story but the Anglo Saxon culture. This is shown by King Hrothgar when he talks about how he
handled his enemies, saying, Finally I healed the feud by paying / I shipped a treasure trove to the
Wulfings (Heaney 470 471). Moreover, the amiable King Hrothgar pays his enemies with precious
gold from his treasure hold and he ends up settling the feud. It is displaying how being wealthy can
synthesize the jubilance a person can obtain by being so powerful that they can pay their enemies to
stop attacking them. Another way that wealth can demonstrate the power in Beowulf is when the kings
are being described. One excerpt that shows this is when King Hrothgar greets his companion,
Beowulf, saying, Then the grey haired treasure giver was glad (607). The author specifically describes
the highest powerful men in the land as treasure givers. Comparatively, this not only showcases the
Anglo Saxon cultural beliefs, but is an even greater reflection on current the population. The
wealthiest man in the world, currently, is Bill Gates with a net worth of 85.6 billion dollars (Kim). Not
only is he extremely wealthy, but his influence in

Dementia As A Clinical Concept

complex as the individual who suffers can experience irregularities of mood, perception, and
behaviour, creating the person not seem their normal self (Hughes, J et al 2010). Dementia is an
overall term for illnesses which is a gradual progressive decline in an individual s memory and other

brain cells in addition to their connections. Vascular dementia is caused by issues with the blood
supply to brain. It can involve minor strokes which damage areas of the brain. Lewy body s dementia

Tokugawa s Contribution To The Collapse Of A Civilization
When civilizations begin they have enough resources and food to last them a while, but as the
population grows and the city becomes more advanced, problems start to occur. The amount of
resources will start to die down and the citizens won t have enough to sustain themselves. There are
many factors that contribute to the collapse of a society, but environmental issues such as
deforestation, is one of the larger reasons for a civilization s downfall. Although civilizations such as
Easter Island and Maya collapsed partly due to deforestation which was caused by their inability to
control the supply of trees, Tokugawa was a civilization that endured through deforestation by creating
new solutions and finding new resources to sustain their civilizations. ... Show more content on

The growing population of the world demands shelter, food, and clothes. This need for the resources
that trees supply is high enough that it seems acceptable for a large percent of forests to be destroyed,
but this brings up the issue of whether there is enough resources to last forever or whether they will
run out. If the world runs out of the needed supplies to sustain human life then the answer to the
question, are we doomed, becomes extremely evident. Without trees, civilization will lack the
resources needed to keep a healthy diet and a stable shelter. Not only that, but the amount of fresh
oxygen, which we get from trees, will decrease. So as long as the world s resources are preserved for
as long as the human race continues to live and thrive, then we should not be doomed, but as natural
resources begin to disappear it becomes more and more possible that the world and everyone in it

Comparing The Book The Hero With A Thousand Faces
The epic poem Beowulf, the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and many other literature works
all have references from the Anglo Saxon period. The Anglo Saxons had a very interesting way of
interpreting their way of life into great stories. Some of those interpretations are as follows: true
calling vs honor and glory, the symbolization of monsters, and the struggle of life. These
interpretations will show how the Anglo Saxon period and the epic poem relate together.
Stories and poems from the Anglo Saxons period have a hero with a true calling. The hero in story
will usually have some kind of a quest they need to complete to fulfill their assumed role. From a
book called The Hero with a Thousand Faces written by Joseph Campbell, there is ... Show more

Honor can also be earned by being a good leader such as a king. There are many poems that display
how a hero or king will receive honor. But can battling against someone or something go too far when
the hero s honor or his a opponent was on the line. In the poem the Iliad from book 22: The Death of
Hector translated by Robert Fagles. In the Iliad there is battle between Achilles and Hector. The battle
started as a result of Hector killing Achilles dear friend Patroclus.During the battle Hector knows he is
going to die,so he asked Achilles for a dying requested. Hector wanted to die an honor and knowing
that he tried his best protect his friend and family. Achilles applies to Hector s request to kill him in a
honorable battle. But in the end Achilles defeats Hector. According to the passage while Hector was
clinging to his last breath, he said to Achilles, I beg you, beg you by your life, your parents don t let
the dogs devour me by the Argive ships! Wait, take the princely ransom of bronze and gold, the gifts
my father and noble mother will give you but give my body to friends to carry home again, so Trojan
men and Trojan women can do me honor with fitting rites of fire once I am dead (Fagles the Iliad 73).

Pre-Independence Period In The Pre Independence Period
2.2 English in India:
2.2.1 Pre Independence Period:
English language was widely exposed to our country due to the British conquest. It was started to
accept by the people when the British first came to India after the incorporation of the East India
Company in 1600, and gained roots especially by the educational policies of a Governor general Lord
Macaulay.
The growth of English in India is well explained by Timothy J. Scrase in the following words:
Since the days of the British Raj, English remained the language of domination, status and privilege in
India. The hegemonic colonial project in India was to create and maintain a class of administrative
officers, clerks and compliant civil servants to carry out the task of ruling the vast and ... Show more

Britishers in India, and as a colonial subjects people had no other choice but to learn, to know and to
speak English. In this way the language started gaining roots in India.
Meanwhile two groups came in existence. One group was the Anglicists advocated the revival of
English and second was the Orientalists who advocated the revival of Sanskrit and Persian learning in
India but the noted Hindu leaders like Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Christian missionaries like William
Carey advocated Western education through the medium of English. and thus a controversy arose
between these groups. It withheld the smooth progress of English in India.
Then Lord Macaulay was appointed as the president of the committee in 1834. His main contention
was that the study of English could be beneficial to those Indians who were pursuing higher studies
than Arabic and Sanskrit. He pointed out that there was already an effective demand for English. He
argued that:
since indigenous languages were inadequate and chaotic, and indigenous arts and literature were petty
futile things. Only Western education with English as the sole medium would deliver the

There are many various conditions and diseases affecting the endocrine system. Here we will discuss
several and describe the endocrine gland, hormone, target tissue, symptoms, causes, and treatment
options. The human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) test is done to check for the hormone hCG in blood
or urine (Staff, 2012). The hCG hormone is made during pregnancy by the placenta or can be
abnormally made by certain tumors. The hCG test can be performed to test if a woman is pregnant or
not, as part of a screening test for birth defects, in a woman who may have abnormal tissue growth in
her uterus, a molar pregnancy, or a cancer in the uterus rather than a normal pregnancy. HCG levels

Later it was discovered that anabolic steroids could facilitate the growth of skeletal muscle which led
to abuse by bodybuilders, weightlifters, and athletes in other sports. Abuse of anabolic steroids can
cause acne, breast development in men, heart attacks, and liver cancer. Most side effects are reversible
if the abuser stops taking the drugs, but some are permanent, such as voice deepening in females.
Possible health consequences for men are infertility, shrinking of the testicles, and male pattern
baldness while with women enlargement of the clitoris, and excessive growth of body hair can
happen. It can affect the musculoskeletal cardiovascular system, liver, skin, cause infection, and have
psychiatric effects such as rage, aggression, mania, and delusions. Treatment of anabolic steroid abuse
uses medications to restore the hormonal system after its disruption, and medication to target specific
withdrawal symptoms. To reduce the risk of ovarian or breast cancer some choose to have a procedure
done known as an oophorectomy. This is a removal of your ovaries on each side of your uterus that
contain eggs and secrete the hormones that control your reproductive cycle. This greatly reduces the
amount of hormones estrogen and progesterone circulating in your body which is the hormones breast
and ovarian cancers need to grow. Though a generally safe procedure with small risk complications

Preventing Elderly Falls
Goal: Post about preventing falls for seniors Total words in document: Title: How to Avoid The Slip,
Trip, and Fall Slips and falls are the leading cause of unintentional deaths for seniors. They can also
cause serious injury, which can mean time away from the home to rehabilitate. This is often
distressing for both seniors and family members. It is important to fall proof the home as much as
possible. Install grab bars These are especially essential in the shower where slips are most likely to
happen due to wet conditions. It is a good idea to have them around the toilet as well, since this up and
down movement is often difficult for seniors. Adjust height Consider changing the height of things

Having a solid shoe can help immensely with stability and mobility. Stocking feet can also cause slips
because they are inherently more slippery than a good rubber soled shoe. Make flooring non slip
Polished wood and tile floors are a slip hazard. Make sure that flooring has enough resistance to
prevent slipping. Carpeting is ideal, but non slip mats are also a good choice for bathrooms and
kitchens. Just be careful of transitions that might be a trip hazard. Remove trip hazards Trip hazards
are many in the average home. Be careful of transitions between rooms and types of flooring. Make
sure that floors are level and that transitions between carpet and tile or wood are covered with a
transition piece that is well attached and at the correct angle to prevent tripping. Consider installing
ramps over stairs, or adding a chair lift to avoid falling on stairs. Avoid loose clothing Loose clothing,
especially if it drags on the ground, can be a fall hazard. Getting wrapped up in a garment, or tripping
over a hem, are recipes for trips and falls. Make sure that clothing is well fitted and does not

incident on March 5, 1770, in which British Army soldiers shot and killed people while under attack
by a lot of colonists. There was not a massacre on March 5, 1770 in Boston because. According to the
sources B,C and D say that the colonists had weapons and they were also attacking in the massacre.
The evidence that supports my claims is that in documents B,C,D the colonists are clearly seen with
weapons according to the documents with the gazette, it said that the colonists had weapons and were
involved in the fight. This supports my own opinion because in document b the colonists are seen with

Summary Of The Rape Of Lucretia
In Livy s story the Rape of Lucretia, the writer illustrated prime examples on how gender is
represented in Roman society. The assumptions of both men and women roles within the Roman
Empire are defined and presented within this legend. The expectations of men, women, and honor are
identified to provide examples of the conventions about gender in Roman society. Men in the legend
were presented as being heavy drinkers and strong. On the other hand, women were represented as
being pure and weak in the eyes of men. The contrasting views of both men and women help illustrate
the assumptions about gender in Roman society defined in the story. In the legend, men were shown to
be heavy drinkers and vastly stronger compared to their female counterpart. ... Show more content on

Lucretia was illustrated to be pure, faithful, and display honor to her husband, ...all impressed by
Lucretia s chaste honor (LVIII). On the other hand, Livy explained how weak and defenseless women
were during ancient Rome. At the same time, the author explained how men, such as Sextus
Tarquinius, could easily take advantage of women. Livy also expressed how honor was vital for
women to keep and maintain. The moment that Sextus viciously destroyed Lucretia s honor by taking
her chastity, illustrated how important honor was in the Roman empire. Lucretia felt like she was in
the wrong even though it was not her fault; however, the mindset that the expectation of women
should show honor and be faithful was extremely important in Roman society. The overall assumption
of women in Roman society to be pure, faithful, and display honor was greatly exemplified in Livy s
legend. The expectation for women to live up to their general duties during this time was a huge focus
in the Roman empire. Thus, Livy presented the assumptions about women in Roman society to be
weak compared to men, and should be faithful and show honor towards her

November 16th, 1920, Qantas, known as the flying kangroo, was founded in a remote area of

Qantas s first flight for the A 380 was Melbourne to Los Angeles. In October 2001, Qantas created a
regional carrier known as Jetstar Airways, which took its first flight in December 2004, flying from
Singapore to Hong Kong. Qantas currently flies the world s longest route on its Sydney to Dallas
Worth, covering 13,800 kilometers in around 14 hours and hopefully by 2017 Qantas will fly the
14,000 kilometer trip between Perth, Australia and London, England (Ryan, 2015).

Jetstar is the low cost carrier operated by Qantas. An example of this in the United States is the major
carrier Skywest operates its regional low cost carrier Expressjet. Qantas Airlines created Jetstar in
2003 as a low cost carrier to transport passengers to major hubs where they could connect to Qantas
and reach their destinations. Jetstar has its headquarters located in Melbourne, Australia. As of 2015,
Jetstar Airlines operates 121 aircraft, 111 of these aircraft are short haul that is what most low cost
regional carriers operate. Short haul means that the total flight time is less than five hours. Although,
this does not mean that they do not operate long haul flights, flights over five hours in flight time, as
they have eleven of these particular aircraft. Currently, the Jetstar Group offers flights to 60 different

My Reading And Writing Recovery Program
When I was in the first grade there was a state mandated test that all first graders took to determine
what skill level we were at with our reading and writing. I was really excited about this test because, I
loved reading and writing so I felt I was good at it. However after the test results came back I was put
in a reading and writing recovery program. For obvious reasons I was extremely disappointed, and
determined to get back into my regular class. As the year progressed I became increasingly better with
reading and writing, by the end of that year I was 2 grade levels above what I was supposed to be at. I
even had my Young Authors book put into to finals, I got to go to a seminar at MSSU about writing. I
like to look back on that memory because it reminds me that I can do anything I put my mind to no
matter where I start. As years go by my passion for reading and writing keeps growing. My 8th grade
year, however, was probably my worst year yet. I really struggled with motivation to do my work, to
go anywhere, to see anyone, I really just wanted to stay in my room by myself all the time. Then I
kind of rediscovered my love for reading and, would read all the time, it even got to the point where I
would read multiple books a week. In reading I was able to find a whole new life, I was able to
become the character and put myself in the story, I had their feelings, I experienced the things they
experienced, I had their personalities, I was the story. Being able to read, I

The Effects of Divorce on Children Essay
Divorce is becoming a worldwide phenomenon, significantly affecting children s well being. It
radically changes their future causing detrimental effects. According to (Julio Cáceres Delpiano and
Eugenio Giolito, 2008) nearly 50% of marriages end with divorce. 90% of children who lived in the
USA in the 1960s stayed with their own biological parents, whereas today it makes up only 40%
(Hetherington, E. Mavis, and Margaret Stanley Hagan, 1999). Such an unfavorable problem has been
increasing, because in 1969, the legislation of California State changed the divorce laws, where
spouses could leave without providing causes (Child Study Center, 2001). This resolution was
accepted by the other states and later, the number of divorced people has ... Show more content on

The main change of that law, which has contributed to immense (tremendous, massive) variations, was
that one spouse had the right to ask for a divorce without the agreement of the other spouse. (?passive)
It was called as Unilateral divorce . Another adjustment (? passive) was performed in assets and
partitioning of property on the chance of divorce. Until 1970s in case of divorce the properties
between spouses (?passive) were divided unequally. However, after 1970s it (?passive) was decided to
split up the estate equally. Statistics show that the divorce rate in the US is the highest compared to
other countries of the world (Ellington C, 2003). Moreover, every year almost 1 million children
become members of single parent family (Ellington C, 2003). Unilateral divorce negatively affects
their well being in the future. It clearly shows that children from divorced family have lower
attainments compared with children from intact families (Ellington C, 2003). In addition, Sampson
(1996) states that cessation of family leads to a high proportion of looting and murder, particularly
among minors.
Children s reactions

react in various (?) ways. For toddlers and infants, it is important to feel safety and love from parents.

been treated as different in society. In the poetry, Being Brought from Africa to America , by Phillis
Wheatley it discusses how many people in America view people of color. In the poem it states, Some

Wheatley describes how people of color are looked down upon in society. In addition, Wheatley states
that some white people think that her skin color is a diabolic die which implied that the color of the
person s skin is evil. Throughout history people of color have been segregated, discriminated, and

are not given the chance to succeed. The American Dream could be possible for minorities if they

Portuguese people living in the United States mostly lives in the states of California, Connecticut,
Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada and Rhode Island (Fagundes,
2007).
A majority of the Portuguese population living in Canada, rather live in the big cities such as Toronto,
Ontario and Montreal, Quebec due to the fact that they had a greater possibility of earning more
money while working the same jobs elsewhere (Higgs, 1990). Another majority of the Portuguese
population in Canada also lived in medium sized cities such as Ottawa, Kitchener, Hull, Hamilton, and
Winnipeg; however Kitchener is definitely surprising for a medium sized city, because apparently
there is a great amount of Portuguese that immigrated there (Higgs, 1990).
Many of the Portuguese faced several problems as they were not fortunate to obtain an education,
because it was not provided to them. The highest education level most Portuguese obtained was up

The Threat of Catheter-Related Infections
Clinical problem: Catheter related infections pose a detrimental threat to adult patients in intensive
care units with a central line. Effects of an infection include: an increase in the patients length of
hospital stay, morbidity and mortality rates, and hospital readmission rates.
Objective: To determine if the evidence based practice interventions studied and published can help to
decrease the rate of infection occurring in central lines.
Data sources: The search engine that was used to find three randomized controlled trial articles and
support my PICOT question was PubMed. Key terms that were used to search for them included
intensive care unit infections, chlorhexidine dressings, antiseptic solutions, and prevention methods
for catheter related infections. A clinical guideline for the prevention of intravascular catheter related
infection was retrieved from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
Results: The clinical guideline from the AHRQ encouraged interventions like the chlorhexidine
impregnated sponge, antiseptic solution, and other precautious measures in order to reduce catheter
related infections. The research completed by Atahan and colleagues (2012), Timsit and colleagues
(2012), and Timsit and colleagues (2009) concluded that the use of 2% chlorhexidine gel tegaderm
dressing, chlorhexidine impregnated sponge, and the antiseptic solution has significantly helped to
reduce infection rates in catheters.
Conclusion: After synthesizing the

Fluoride Water System
Understanding Fluoride Water Systems
Summary: The article highlights that there are certain water systems which use advanced technology
to get rid of harmful contaminants from water like fluoride. This is useful to attain pure drinking
water.
One of the main contaminants that are found in water is fluoride. One should know that the greater
amount of consumption of fluoride can be hazardous to health, so one has to keep in check the
consumption pattern. If you want to get rid of this from your drinking water, then you should install a
water filter that will remove the fluoride, and give you pure drinking water, that is safe from harmful
chemicals and contaminants.
The question that you should ask yourself before purchasing a water filter to ... Show more content on

You can purchase an ion exchange based filter that will remove fluoride unlike simple distillation or
chlorine purification process. Again, you can also buy filters which make use of AquaMetix, a new
proprietary filtration technology which removes almost 50 85% of fluoride.
Some companies sell their products claiming that regular carbon filters will remove fluoride, but this
is not entirely correct. Also, you should not be fooled by single multi media cartridge units that
contain a small amount of media in addition to carbon. A cartridge of 100% fluoride removal media is
needed to allow proper contact time for effective fluoride removal from the water.
The water system should remove chlorine, lead and mostly all other chemical and non chemical
contaminants, but at the same time should ensure that the essential minerals are not filtered out and we
get pure drinking water. Take time to find out the most suitable filter at your home or office for
healthy drinking water. You should not hasten in these matters, and find out the system that will make
obtaining fresh fluoride free water

Andre Mayer Thesis
This post effectively caught my eye because the title referred to an article written by Andre Mayer in
our class book about the sexual age we live in. This topic really interests me, and I even wrote my
argument paper on a similar topic. I have always believed that our society is too focused on ideals of
sex, and thus this post interested me. What I liked about this post was that it was simple, didn t contain
a lot of words, and was open ended. I liked how there are a few words written with a video posted
below, and the point of the post is for the reader to make their own interpretation on the topic based
off of the video. I didn t feel as though this post is necessarily making a claim, but rather putting
forward an author s opinion, supporting

Business Communication in Spain
Business communication is essential in the business world; it may be the key to success. These skills
and tools should be learned and taken into practice in the business field. Due to the expanding
businesses in today s world, whether it s to reduce their cost, or for expansion, many companies have
taken their business abroad. Although many or all of us are familiar with America s way of handling
any business issues, it is also necessary that we are aware of other countries business communication
and etiquettes. Spain is a country that has many important facts and business etiquettes that need to be
considered when doing business in Spain. The main fact that should be known is that the predominant

Spaniards usually don t follow times or schedules. In one of the books the author writes Although you
should be punctual yourself, keep in mind that el tiempo is como el espacio in Spain or, time is space .
(Sabath 217) Spaniards are not extremely concerned with punctuality. It s expected to wait for some of
the meeting members to arrive around 15 to 30 minutes late. Decisions are not usually made in the
business meetings; it is mainly for discussions and exchange of ideas. Dinners are usually more
sociable and there is not much business talk; if there is any business talk it should only be done if the
Spanish host initiates it. The business conversations usually take place during lunch meetings around
two in the afternoon. Meetings that are held during dinner are usually held after nine. This is due to
the fact that most places have siestas (break period in which restaurants and stores close for a few
hours) and they reopen late in the afternoon. Therefore, it s a good idea to take advantage of the siesta
and be ready for the late night meetings. If you are the one hosting a meeting dinner and would like to
bring your spouse, you should expand the invitations to the Spaniard s contact s spouse. Besides being
able to communicate verbally with the Spaniards, it is also important to understand their non verbal
communications. Body

Profit and Loss Statement Paper
Before beginning, it should be noted that although this project is to be for a Profit and Loss (P L)
Statement, only an Income Statement is available at the Kudler Fine Foods website (Apollo Group,
2011). However, Income Statements and P L Statements are, for all intents and purposes, the same
thing.
With that said, it cannot be determined conclusively by reading the Income Statement for Kudler Fine
Foods if the report is monthly, quarterly or yearly or if the reports are constructed on a different fiscal
schedule. The date at the top, however, reads For the Year Ended December 31, 2003 . ... Show more

Now it is important to account for any other, miscellaneous income, such sales of assets and interest
on money in savings.
For Kudler Fine Foods, this amount is $7,845 (Apollo Group, 2011) and will be added to the income
of the company to reach a final, Net Income of $676,795.00(Apollo Group, 2011).
Conclusion
Kudler Fine Foods, though fictitious, is doing very well for itself even when compared to a large
supermarket chain like Walmart. When dividing the Net Income of Kudler Fine Foods, $676,795.00,
by the company s Net Sales $10,796,200.00, we get a before tax profit margin of 6.268%. This means
that Kudler Fine Foods has almost double the pre tax profit margin than Walmart s post tax profit
margin of 3.515% (Ycharts, 2012). This means that unless the yearly taxes due for Kudler Fine Foods
is about 50%, they will likely have higher profit margins than Walmart. That is pretty good for a
fictitious company...

History Of The Main Complaint By William Kentridge And...
Artists use their art to reflect the social values of a particular time and place whether it depicts war
torn and grotesque images or beacons of hope for society. Artist Pablo Picasso, William Kentridge and
George Gittoes all express their social values not only from a personal perspective but as part of a
community, country and world view. This is seen as each artist questions the political views and laws
while clearly identifying social values reflected from a point in time in their artworks. Picasso s
Guernica and Dove strongly contrast dark and light tones depicting the effects of war and peace due to
the effects of the Spanish Civil War and WW2. William Kentridge s film, History of the Main

Close to Picasso s heart, the town was near where Picasso had grown up the large artwork with its size

for the civilians there are social values such as regrets, fear and sadness for the civilians who lost their
lives. Picasso represents this through the use of the bull and horse as the horse represents the people
being pillaged by the bull. The bull can also be seen to represent the onslaught of fascism and
destruction at the time while the strong use of only black, blue and white intensifies the sombre event
that occurred as if taunting the audience. The artwork is viewed as a war painting as it offers sharp and
jagged shapes with chaotic looking intentions that the civilians are impacted by. Guernica represents
the brutality of war itself and the tormented victims of as audiences all over the worked were able to

Roger Chillingworth Monologue
On page 17 the custom officer began to conclude his own thoughts about Roger Chillingworth and in
his own words said He was in truth, a rare phenomenon; so perfect in one point of view; so shallow, so
delusive, so impalpable, such an absolute nonentity, in every other. My conclusion was that he had no
soul, no heart, no mind; nothing, as I already said but instincts; From that tiny bit the officer
concluded that Roger wasn t a man but a monster that would hurt someone or something without
thinking it would just be second nature to Roger.
When I think of Roger Chillingworth and the officers thought it makes me start to think of a virus.

According to Metro.us, the Los Angeles Lakers are just one superstar away from having a great season
and trading for Carmelo Anthony could be a viable option for them. Surely, Melo will bring in his vast
experience being in the league for 13 years that could also help guide the young players for the
Lakers. Aside from experience, his production of 22.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists will surely
boost their offense. But who will they offer as trade pieces for Melo? According to CBSSports, the
Los Angeles Lakers could throw in a package of guard Jordan Clarkson, guard Lou Williams and
forward Luol Deng as trade offers to the New York Knicks for Carmelo Anthony. This is not bad for a
return for the Knicks acquiring one young and two veteran players that are solid contributors.
However, having this trade won t mean that the Lakers is assured of a postseason appearance rather it
only give them a better chance of competing for that position. Meanwhile, the Knicks might ask for
more for Anthony, maybe a future draft pick, unless the Lakers don t have much in terms of draft
picks. Would the Los Angeles Lakers be the best trade destination for New York Knicks superstar

Teaching Self And Core Values Of Teaching Personal And...
Teaching personal and social responsibility (TPSR) is a lifelong journey. One can never fully achieve
the ultimate goal of becoming personally and socially responsible as it s always expanding. TPSR is
built upon the foundation of putting kids first, human decency, holistic self development, and as Nick
Forsberg said a way of being (19). It is important for a teacher to put aside personal goals and
achievements to focus on the students. The students well being and personal growth must be the focal
point. Along with these important core values TPSR is structured around a five level system. The first
two level are considered a beginner level of TPSR and touch on respect and effort. Within the
begining levels a student will begin to understand the role expectations placed upon him or her in the
classroom. This includes peaceful and respectful participation in every activity with a maximum effort
and a positive attitude. The third and fourth level to TPSR involve self direction and helping. This
involves going above and beyond the set lesson and setting goals for yourself while showing positive
leadership within the community. It is important to identify at these level direct supervision is not
necessary and varies with age. The final level involves taking your knowledge outside the gym. This is
a culmination of all levels and a direct transfer to your everyday life. This is the stage in which one
goes from being a follower to a leader and setting an example for everyone

Lacks And Henrietta Lacks
Imagine having no rights in life. Imagine one day you get sick, and you go to the hospital to get better,
but you get taken advantage of. How would all that make you feel? Henrietta Lacks was an African
American woman. During her time, women didn t have equal rights like men did, and African
Americans didn t have equal rights like white people did. Since Henrietta was an African American
woman she had it rough, there were times that everyday tasks were a struggle. In 1951 she was
diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer. She was treated at John Hopkins University, where doctors
didn t do all they could even if they said that was the case, and were Doctor George Gey took her cells
from her cervix without consent. I watched the Law and Order episode titled Immortal , I found it to
be extremely similar to a book I read titled The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
even though the show said in the beginning that this was not based on a true story. There were many
similarities that I spotted between Immortal and Henrietta Lacks. Some of the similarities were within
the storyline, others were in characters. Henrietta had six siblings and five kids. There are three of her
kids that I want to talk about specifically, Deborah, Zakariyya, and Elsie. Deborah s learning of
everything is the main point in the book but also having the readers learn what happened to Henrietta
and her family is extremely important. Deborah was Hennrietta and Day s 4th

The Nonthreatening Rise of China Essay
For the past twenty five years, China has witnessed an overall increase in its domestic growth
(Fischler 148). According to the article, The Rise of China as a Global Power, by Dr. Rosita Dellios,
China is the world s fourth largest trading nation, rising from 32nd in 1978 to 10th in 1997. Similarly,
China s GDP is also second to the United States of America, generating 13 percent of the world s
output (Dellios). Since China s introduction into the World Trade Organization in December 2001, its
average tariff dropped from 41 percent in 1992 to 6 percent in 2001, becoming one of the most open
economies in the world (Dellios). China is also the world s fastest developing economy, obtaining an

According to Mark Borthwick, its combined population and physical domain have not been equaled
by any other nation. Correspondingly, with impressive geographic dimension and civilizational power,
China is easily able to ascertain a stabilizing influence. Therefore, after decades of exerting only
modest influence, China is now a greater regional actor in Asia (Saunders 127). Rendering from the
article, The Rise of China as a Global Power, the rise of China could represent an alternative to
American global dominance. Whether this alternative is a form of complementary balance like the
Chinese yin yang symbol, or a dangerous competition for global hegemony, has remained a matter of
debate. Nevertheless, according to the source, China s Role in Asia, by Phillip C. Saunders cited by
Shambaugh and Yahuda, China s regional security strategy and a range of diplomatic, military, and
economic assurance measures have had a significant impact in easing Asian concerns about a strong
China (127). Furthermore, Asia has generally shifted from observing China as a threat to viewing
China as a prospect, with Japan being the exception to this trend (Shambaugh and Yahuda 127).
Therefore, the rise of China is not a threat to Asian stability as noted in China s political regime,
military, and economy. First of all, the rise of China is not only nonthreatening but also beneficial to
Asian stability through its political

Comparing Marionettes Inc. And Ex Machina
When it comes to using Artificial Intelligence, one should be able to recognize their limits in doing so.
In the story Marionettes Inc, and the movie, Ex Machina, both mediums displayed a clear and concise
message about Artificial Intelligence, that is, when you create or utilize an AI robot with human like
qualities, there is always a possibility that it may turn against their rightful owner or creator, and will
ultimately lead to their downfall. The extent to which an intelligent, well constructed robot can think,
behave, and act, has no limit. Once you give something a mind of its own, you are incapable of
controlling its actions and behaviours, leading to serious drawbacks of creating a robot. In the movie,

The Perception Of Love In Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy
The poem Neutral Tones by Thomas Hardy talks about love in a negative way. The poem has a
depressed tone to it; In the poem, the speaker explains how their lover is fake and the love is not really
there. The speaker goes on about the signs of their lover being fake; then, they explain love being
deceiving. In fact, the theme of the poem is that love is deceiving. The purpose of the poem is to
expressed feeling to a ending love. The first stanza of the poem describes the setting and puts the
reader into a depressed mood. Moreover, The speaker is able to do this through imagery; for example,
And a few leaves lay on the starving sod; They had fallen from an ash, and were gray, (Hardy.3 4).

Furthermore, this also shows diction. They used the word starving to describe the sod to better express
the tone and mood. Next, the second stanza starts explaining the love. They explain how the lover s
eyes are not looking at them anymore. It goes on to say how love is making things worse by saying.
And some words played between us to and fro on which lost more by our love, (7 8). The love they
have for each keeps them together, but being together is only making things worse. They explain how
words that used to hold so much meaning now have none. Additionally, the next stanza continues with
explaining how everything about their lover is now fake. The stanza uses a metaphor to connect to the
theme. The metaphor is, The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing, (9). They compare a smile to
being something dead. The second and third stanza directly show the theme because it explains how
their lover is now fake, yet they are still together. Finally, the last stanza is the speaker coming to
reality with the relationship. The

Marriage Is A Problem Based On Stereotypes And Unrealistic...
Marriages and Scripts
Marriage is a concept that few people really understand and most underestimate. With the last four
scripts it is clear that, marriage is a problem based on stereotypes and unrealistic expectations. While
reading the last plays, Dolls House,Who s Afraid of Virgina Woolf, Fences, and Disgraced there is one
clear correlation between them all, crumbling marriages. There is this foreign concept that people may
not even have to like their partner in the beginning, but later on in marriage they will soon love them.
This idea is false, however, as it is clear that during life two partners become dependent on each other,
and this coziness is conceived as love. Furthermore, they then get so used to marriage and each other

What I did find remarkable was Nora and her strength to leave her husband and children. Unlike the
other pieces Dolls House focuses more on children and the effect they have on a married couple.
Children are generally thought of as making marriage more valuable to the spouses, as they represent
a long term commitment (that can be seen also as a form of long term investment in the marriage
relationship) which may reinforce marriage stability. On the other hand, children may bring about
marital conflict by affecting dramatically the household allocation of time and money and contributing
a degree of uncertainty, as children s preferences and behavior are not known to parents ex ante.
(Bellido).
In this marriage, much like Troy and Rose in Fences, having children broke this marriage. It would
have been easier to stay for Nora if it was not a constant reminder that she would be the corruption in
her children, and the overwhelming fear that she would be the cause of their downfall. It is brought up
several times the conflict of leaving her children or staying and being a mother they do not deserve.
She is constantly thinking about this through the second half, but she does not worry about Torvald.
She even states that she does not love him and was only there because it was her duty as a woman to
marry a rich man, and have his children. That was the problem that the pieces face, no matter what
time period, forcing love only seems to be

Abortion Statistics
In the first article I have chosen to use in my paper entitled Abortion in the United States:
A Statistical Study, there are many facts and different data and statistics that help confirm my
hypothesis that unmarried women are more likely to seek abortions than married women. The
article includes informative sections such as Characteristics of Women Seeking Abortions. This
particular section stated that women in the twenty to twenty four year old age group obtained
the greatest proportion of abortions in 2003 one third (33.7%) of the total. (Abortion in the

One piece of data
that I found in this article states that 91.9% of 2010 abortions were preformed at or less than the
13th week of gestation. Of those 71.7% were performed at or less than the eighth week. 17.7% of
all 2010 abortions were medical abortions. (Abortion Fast Facts. (2014, May 27). CNN Wire)
This clearly shows that most women who decide to have abortions make that decision rather
quickly. This is usually due to an unfit situation for a child, often times due to unmarried women
who are receiving the abortion. Just this piece of data alone helps to support the hypothesis that
unmarried women are more likely to seek abortions than married women.
The third article I chose to use in my paper on the topic of abortion is entitled Abortion
around the World. This article provides great statistics and data for abortion situations around the
entire world. There is a lot of information about legal and illegal abortions in this article. I also
found a section that shows the legal abortion rates by the age of women at termination. In 2003
in the United States 22.1 out of every 100 legal abortion was from women age 19 and

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wealth In Beowulf In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, it discusses the advantages and disadvantages of wealth that are shown in today s modern society. In Beowulf, the epic depicts an abundance of scenes of how wealth, in today s modern culture, shows someone s power. One way the benefit of wealth is shown in Beowulf by the kings in not solely the story but the Anglo Saxon culture. This is shown by King Hrothgar when he talks about how he handled his enemies, saying, Finally I healed the feud by paying / I shipped a treasure trove to the Wulfings (Heaney 470 471). Moreover, the amiable King Hrothgar pays his enemies with precious gold from his treasure hold and he ends up settling the feud. It is displaying how being wealthy can synthesize the jubilance a person can obtain by being so powerful that they can pay their enemies to stop attacking them. Another way that wealth can demonstrate the power in Beowulf is when the kings are being described. One excerpt that shows this is when King Hrothgar greets his companion, Beowulf, saying, Then the grey haired treasure giver was glad (607). The author specifically describes the highest powerful men in the land as treasure givers. Comparatively, this not only showcases the Anglo Saxon cultural beliefs, but is an even greater reflection on current the population. The wealthiest man in the world, currently, is Bill Gates with a net worth of 85.6 billion dollars (Kim). Not only is he extremely wealthy, but his influence in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Tokugawa s Contribution To The Collapse Of A Civilization When civilizations begin they have enough resources and food to last them a while, but as the population grows and the city becomes more advanced, problems start to occur. The amount of resources will start to die down and the citizens won t have enough to sustain themselves. There are many factors that contribute to the collapse of a society, but environmental issues such as deforestation, is one of the larger reasons for a civilization s downfall. Although civilizations such as Easter Island and Maya collapsed partly due to deforestation which was caused by their inability to control the supply of trees, Tokugawa was a civilization that endured through deforestation by creating new solutions and finding new resources to sustain their civilizations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The growing population of the world demands shelter, food, and clothes. This need for the resources that trees supply is high enough that it seems acceptable for a large percent of forests to be destroyed, but this brings up the issue of whether there is enough resources to last forever or whether they will run out. If the world runs out of the needed supplies to sustain human life then the answer to the question, are we doomed, becomes extremely evident. Without trees, civilization will lack the resources needed to keep a healthy diet and a stable shelter. Not only that, but the amount of fresh oxygen, which we get from trees, will decrease. So as long as the world s resources are preserved for as long as the human race continues to live and thrive, then we should not be doomed, but as natural resources begin to disappear it becomes more and more possible that the world and everyone in it could be ... • 5. Comparing The Book The Hero With A Thousand Faces The epic poem Beowulf, the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and many other literature works all have references from the Anglo Saxon period. The Anglo Saxons had a very interesting way of interpreting their way of life into great stories. Some of those interpretations are as follows: true calling vs honor and glory, the symbolization of monsters, and the struggle of life. These interpretations will show how the Anglo Saxon period and the epic poem relate together. Stories and poems from the Anglo Saxons period have a hero with a true calling. The hero in story will usually have some kind of a quest they need to complete to fulfill their assumed role. • 6. Pre-Independence Period In The Pre Independence Period 2.2 English in India: 2.2.1 Pre Independence Period: English language was widely exposed to our country due to the British conquest. It was started to accept by the people when the British first came to India after the incorporation of the East India Company in 1600, and gained roots especially by the educational policies of a Governor general Lord Macaulay. The growth of English in India is well explained by Timothy J. In this way the language started gaining roots in India. Meanwhile two groups came in existence. One group was the Anglicists advocated the revival of English and second was the Orientalists who advocated the revival of Sanskrit and Persian learning in India but the noted Hindu leaders like Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Christian missionaries like William Carey advocated Western education through the medium of English. and thus a controversy arose between these groups. It withheld the smooth progress of English in India. Then Lord Macaulay was appointed as the president of the committee in 1834. His main contention was that the study of English could be beneficial to those Indians who were pursuing higher studies than Arabic and Sanskrit. He pointed out that there was already an effective demand for English. There was not a massacre on March 5, 1770 in Boston because. According to the sources B,C and D say that the colonists had weapons and they were also attacking in the massacre. The evidence that supports my claims is that in documents B,C,D the colonists are clearly seen with weapons according to the documents with the gazette, it said that the colonists had weapons and were involved in the fight. • 10. Summary Of The Rape Of Lucretia In Livy s story the Rape of Lucretia, the writer illustrated prime examples on how gender is represented in Roman society. The assumptions of both men and women roles within the Roman Empire are defined and presented within this legend. The expectations of men, women, and honor are identified to provide examples of the conventions about gender in Roman society. Men in the legend were presented as being heavy drinkers and strong. My Reading And Writing Recovery Program When I was in the first grade there was a state mandated test that all first graders took to determine what skill level we were at with our reading and writing. I was really excited about this test because, I loved reading and writing so I felt I was good at it. However after the test results came back I was put in a reading and writing recovery program. For obvious reasons I was extremely disappointed, and determined to get back into my regular class. As the year progressed I became increasingly better with reading and writing, by the end of that year I was 2 grade levels above what I was supposed to be at. I even had my Young Authors book put into to finals, I got to go to a seminar at MSSU about writing. My 8th grade year, however, was probably my worst year yet. I really struggled with motivation to do my work, to go anywhere, to see anyone, I really just wanted to stay in my room by myself all the time. • 30. Teaching Self And Core Values Of Teaching Personal And... Teaching personal and social responsibility (TPSR) is a lifelong journey. One can never fully achieve the ultimate goal of becoming personally and socially responsible as it s always expanding. TPSR is built upon the foundation of putting kids first, human decency, holistic self development, and as Nick Forsberg said a way of being (19). It is important for a teacher to put aside personal goals and achievements to focus on the students. The students well being and personal growth must be the focal point. Along with these important core values TPSR is structured around a five level system. The first two level are considered a beginner level of TPSR and touch on respect and effort. • 31. Lacks And Henrietta Lacks Imagine having no rights in life. Imagine one day you get sick, and you go to the hospital to get better, but you get taken advantage of. How would all that make you feel? Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman. During her time, women didn t have equal rights like men did, and African Americans didn t have equal rights like white people did. Since Henrietta was an African American woman she had it rough, there were times that everyday tasks were a struggle. In 1951 she was diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer. She was treated at John Hopkins University, where doctors didn t do all they could even if they said that was the case, and were Doctor George Gey took her cells from her cervix without consent. I watched the Law and Order episode titled Immortal , I found it to be extremely similar to a book I read titled The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot even though the show said in the beginning that this was not based on a true story. There were many similarities that I spotted between Immortal and Henrietta Lacks. Some of the similarities were within the storyline, others were in characters. Henrietta had six siblings and five kids. There are three of her kids that I want to talk about specifically, Deborah, Zakariyya, and Elsie. Deborah s learning of everything is the main point in the book but also having the readers learn what happened to Henrietta and her family is extremely important. Deborah was Hennrietta and Day s 4th ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Nonthreatening Rise of China Essay For the past twenty five years, China has witnessed an overall increase in its domestic growth (Fischler 148). According to the article, The Rise of China as a Global Power, by Dr. Rosita Dellios, China is the world s fourth largest trading nation, rising from 32nd in 1978 to 10th in 1997. Similarly, China s GDP is also second to the United States of America, generating 13 percent of the world s output (Dellios). Since China s introduction into the World Trade Organization in December 2001, its average tariff dropped from 41 percent in 1992 to 6 percent in 2001, becoming one of the most open economies in the world (Dellios). China is also the world s fastest developing economy, obtaining an annual growth of 9.5 percent through foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Mark Borthwick, its combined population and physical domain have not been equaled by any other nation. Correspondingly, with impressive geographic dimension and civilizational power, China is easily able to ascertain a stabilizing influence. Therefore, after decades of exerting only modest influence, China is now a greater regional actor in Asia (Saunders 127). Rendering from the article, The Rise of China as a Global Power, the rise of China could represent an alternative to American global dominance. Whether this alternative is a form of complementary balance like the Chinese yin yang symbol, or a dangerous competition for global hegemony, has remained a matter of debate. Nevertheless, according to the source, China s Role in Asia, by Phillip C. Saunders cited by Shambaugh and Yahuda, China s regional security strategy and a range of diplomatic, military, and economic assurance measures have had a significant impact in easing Asian concerns about a strong China (127). Furthermore, Asia has generally shifted from observing China as a threat to viewing China as a prospect, with Japan being the exception to this trend (Shambaugh and Yahuda 127). Therefore, the rise of China is not a threat to Asian stability as noted in China s political regime, military, and economy. First of all, the rise of China is not only nonthreatening but also beneficial to Asian stability through its political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Comparing Marionettes Inc. And Ex Machina When it comes to using Artificial Intelligence, one should be able to recognize their limits in doing so. In the story Marionettes Inc, and the movie, Ex Machina, both mediums displayed a clear and concise message about Artificial Intelligence, that is, when you create or utilize an AI robot with human like qualities, there is always a possibility that it may turn against their rightful owner or creator, and will ultimately lead to their downfall. The extent to which an intelligent, well constructed robot can think, behave, and act, has no limit. Once you give something a mind of its own, you are incapable of controlling its actions and behaviours, leading to serious drawbacks of creating a robot. In the movie, Nathan s persistent goal of ... • 34. The Perception Of Love In Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy The poem Neutral Tones by Thomas Hardy talks about love in a negative way. The poem has a depressed tone to it; In the poem, the speaker explains how their lover is fake and the love is not really there. The speaker goes on about the signs of their lover being fake; then, they explain love being deceiving. In fact, the theme of the poem is that love is deceiving. The purpose of the poem is to expressed feeling to a ending love. The first stanza of the poem describes the setting and puts the reader into a depressed mood. Moreover, The speaker is able to do this through imagery; for example, And a few leaves lay on the starving sod; They had fallen from an ash, and were gray, (Hardy.3 4). They explained gray leaves on the ground, which helps picture the seen, and by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, this also shows diction. They used the word starving to describe the sod to better express the tone and mood. Next, the second stanza starts explaining the love. They explain how the lover s eyes are not looking at them anymore. It goes on to say how love is making things worse by saying. And some words played between us to and fro on which lost more by our love, (7 8). The love they have for each keeps them together, but being together is only making things worse. They explain how words that used to hold so much meaning now have none. Additionally, the next stanza continues with explaining how everything about their lover is now fake. The stanza uses a metaphor to connect to the theme. The metaphor is, The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing, (9). They compare a smile to being something dead. The second and third stanza directly show the theme because it explains how their lover is now fake, yet they are still together. Finally, the last stanza is the speaker coming to reality with the relationship. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Marriage Is A Problem Based On Stereotypes And Unrealistic... Marriages and Scripts Marriage is a concept that few people really understand and most underestimate. With the last four scripts it is clear that, marriage is a problem based on stereotypes and unrealistic expectations. While reading the last plays, Dolls House,Who s Afraid of Virgina Woolf, Fences, and Disgraced there is one clear correlation between them all, crumbling marriages. There is this foreign concept that people may not even have to like their partner in the beginning, but later on in marriage they will soon love them. This idea is false, however, as it is clear that during life two partners become dependent on each other, and this coziness is conceived as love. Furthermore, they then get so used to marriage and each other that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What I did find remarkable was Nora and her strength to leave her husband and children. Unlike the other pieces Dolls House focuses more on children and the effect they have on a married couple. Children are generally thought of as making marriage more valuable to the spouses, as they represent a long term commitment (that can be seen also as a form of long term investment in the marriage relationship) which may reinforce marriage stability. On the other hand, children may bring about marital conflict by affecting dramatically the household allocation of time and money and contributing a degree of uncertainty, as children s preferences and behavior are not known to parents ex ante. (Bellido). In this marriage, much like Troy and Rose in Fences, having children broke this marriage. It would have been easier to stay for Nora if it was not a constant reminder that she would be the corruption in her children, and the overwhelming fear that she would be the cause of their downfall. It is brought up several times the conflict of leaving her children or staying and being a mother they do not deserve. She is constantly thinking about this through the second half, but she does not worry about Torvald. She even states that she does not love him and was only there because it was her duty as a woman to marry a rich man, and have his children. That was the problem that the pieces face, no matter what time period, forcing love only seems to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Abortion Statistics In the first article I have chosen to use in my paper entitled Abortion in the United States: A Statistical Study, there are many facts and different data and statistics that help confirm my hypothesis that unmarried women are more likely to seek abortions than married women. The article includes informative sections such as Characteristics of Women Seeking Abortions. This particular section stated that women in the twenty to twenty four year old age group obtained the greatest proportion of abortions in 2003 one third (33.7%) of the total. (Abortion in the United States: A Statistical Study. (2008). In S. M. Alters) A women in the United States between the age of 20 24 is more often than not an unmarried woman. This statistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One piece of data that I found in this article states that 91.9% of 2010 abortions were preformed at or less than the 13th week of gestation. Of those 71.7% were performed at or less than the eighth week. 17.7% of all 2010 abortions were medical abortions. (Abortion Fast Facts. (2014, May 27). CNN Wire) This clearly shows that most women who decide to have abortions make that decision rather quickly. This is usually due to an unfit situation for a child, often times due to unmarried women who are receiving the abortion. Just this piece of data alone helps to support the hypothesis that unmarried women are more likely to seek abortions than married women. The third article I chose to use in my paper on the topic of abortion is entitled Abortion around the World. This article provides great statistics and data for abortion situations around the entire world. There is a lot of information about legal and illegal abortions in this article. I also found a section that shows the legal abortion rates by the age of women at termination. In 2003
