The return on equity ratio for the company is 66.01%, K12 s is 3.7%, and the industry is 21.35%, This
is another indication that the company is not operating well and that the shareholders are currently not
earning from their investments in the company. On the other hand, the competitor K12 is also
operating poorly with comparison to the industry s average percentage, but it is performing better than
Learning Tree International, Inc. Also, using another profitability ratio, which is return on assets. The
company s ratio is 13.3, K12 s ratio is 2.74, and the industry s ratio is 11.85; consequently, the
company has a negative percentage while the percentages for the industry and K12 are positive. So the
company is not employing its total asset to generate profit as the same as K12. In short, when
comparing the profitability ratios of the company with industry and K12, it shows that the company is
in unstable condition with its investors. Moreover, the earning per share for Learning Tree

Searching. Ben Was At Home On A Saturday Night Waiting
Searching
Ben was at home on a Saturday night waiting on his wife. He had made reservations at her favourite
restaurant. When Ben last called Claire she said she would be home in an hour. It had been two hours
and there was still no sign of Claire. It was not usual of her to leave Ben uninformed. Ben s concern
grew and just as he got up to call her, there was a loud knock on the door. Ben knew it was Claire;
after 6 years of marriage, he recognised her annoyingly loud knock. Where have you been? Ben asked.
Nowhere, I just missed my bus she replied. Well we can t make it for our reservation anymore he said
frustratingly, how about I cook something quickly? You must be starving.
It was clear Ben ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Claire entered the flat, he watched her from the corner of the hallway trying to remain inconspicuous.
He silently stood with his ear close the door, attempting to eavesdrop on the chatter coming from
within the flat. He could not make out anything. Just as he was about to bang on the door, he noticed
an air vent near the door and peaked through it.
From there he saw Claire. She was perched on the floor: participating in what, to him, looked like
some sort ritual. A Séance. The woman who was leading the ritual was very strange looking, sort of,
how you would expect a clairvoyant, or is it a medium to look like, Ben thought. He could not believe
his eyes; never in a million years would he expect Claire to engage in such a thing. After all, they were
both university graduates, well educated people. Ben thought he knew Claire well enough to know she
would never do take part in such a thing or believe in these rituals.
He spent the whole day questioning why she would do this, but even after having spent the entire day
thinking, he could not come to any conclusion. He decided to contact his therapist to talk about the
situation and settle his mind on what he should do. His therapist was the only person Ben ever spoke
to about his feelings and emotions. The only person he spoke about Claire to. Ben had told Claire
about the therapy sessions and recommended that she could take talk to someone too; she rejected him
and told Ben she would be

Herbert Clark Hoover Biography Essay
Herbert Clark Hoover was gloriously born August 10, 1874 and tragically died after suffering for days
from a massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage on October 20, 1964. Both of Hoover s parents were dead
by the time he was nine years old and was raised in a Quaker home. By the time Hoover was 23 years
old he was working as an engineer in Western Australia. As a republican, Hoover served head of the
U.S. food Admin. during world war 1, and became internationally known for humanitarian efforts in
war time Belgium. As the United States Secretary of Commerce in the 1920s under Presidents Warren
G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge, he promoted partnerships between government and business under

He also believed in the importance of volunteerism and of the role of individuals in society and the
economy. Hoover, who had made a small fortune in mining, was the first of two Presidents to
redistribute his salary (President Kennedy was the other; he gave all his paychecks to charity). When
the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to fight
the ensuing Great Depression with moderate government public works projects such as the Hoover
Dam. The record tax bracket from 25% to 63%, coupled with increases in corporate taxes, in 1933 but
the economy plummeted simultaneously and unemployment rates rose to afflict one in four American
workers. This downward spiral set the stage for Hoover s defeat in 1932 by Democrat Franklin D.
Roosevelt, who promised a New Deal. After Roosevelt assumed the Presidency in 1933, Hoover
became a spokesman for opposition to the domestic and foreign policies of the New Deal. In 1947,
President Harry S. Truman appointed Hoover to head the Hoover Commission, intended to foster
greater efficiency throughout the federal bureaucracy. Most historians agree that Hoover s defeat in
the 1932 election was caused primarily by the downward economic spiral, although his strong support
for prohibition was also significant, but because of the Great Depression Hoover is ranked lower than
average among U.S.

Essay Child Labor During The Industrial Revolution
During the 18 and beginning of the 19th century in certain regions of the U.S child labor made up
more than 40 percent of the population (Wolensky). That s almost half of the working population.
Since the beginning of time children have always been known to help their families with domestic
tasks. Most of these kids worked in factories because they were easy to control and paid less than
adults. Kids earned less than half of what adults made in the work force. In these factories they usually
cleaned under and inside machines while functioning because of their small size.. That s how these
kids felt as it was described in a article in our history book. They were always in danger of getting hurt
or even dying, which many did. Kids as young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote I found from an online article explains what kids went through during this harsh time. It
almost sounds like they were slaves by how low they were getting paid. Most of us have never even
heard of kids working late at nights doing jobs that today no one can possibly do because they have
been replaced with machines from the dangers they carry. Children worked some of the most
dangerous factory jobs that existed and they didn t by choice. They had no choice but to work because
either their family was poor or they were orphans. Children most of the time worked in mines, glass
factories, textiles, canaries, and home industries. A lot of these industries are filled with dangers that
can easily kill them. In this quote Children as young as six years old during the industrial revolution
worked hard hours for little or no pay (Child labor in factories). A good number of these kids were
harassed and mistreated by the factory bosses. If children didn t arrive on time to work, they would
have to be punished by the factory bosses. The punishment was that the children would have to sprint
up and down the factory aisle until they were completely drained out of energy and they had to do this
nude carrying a backpack full of heavy objects. This caused a lot of children to develop

Star Wars Argumentative Essay
Under normal circumstances, when a fairly large franchise film is coming out, you could be forgiven
for forgetting about the accompanying video game that inevitably comes along with it. Ranging from
painful cash grabs to satisfying tie ins, film inspired games usually appear the afterthought of the
Hollywood marketing process. But Star Wars: the Force Awakens isn t a fairly large franchise film,
and these are by no means normal circumstances.
A little under a month ahead of what could quite possibly be the biggest cinematic release of all time,
we fans have not just a shameless tie in but a fully fledged reboot of one of the most loved franchises
in Star Wars enormous gaming catalogue. And while that may be as much a result of rose tinted
nostalgia and remarkably consistent marketing of Disney as it is anything else, EA DICE s Star Wars
Battlefront has quite some expectations to meet now it s finally here.
As you more than likely know by now, Star Wars Battlefront is an entirely multiplayer focused game.
Players are given the choice between the Multiplayer modes and Battlefront s Missions mode, but the
emphasis is placed heavily on the former. Within Multiplayer, there are nine other modes to choose
from, varying between the large scale, frenetic 40 player battles of Walker Assault and Supremacy, and
the more intimate, small sided modes like Droid Run and Hero Hunt.
Those who made it into the open beta will remember Walker Assault well. Pitting 20 against 20 on

Notes On Trading Profile And Goals
Trading profile and goals
Generally there is an enormous amount of information available to the traders. So in order to trade
profitably traders should take only essential information into consideration for analysis. In this paper
we trade a portfolio of options, namely 10 BHPC98 puts and 10 BHPC88 calls both with the same
strike date and price as evidenced in Appendix B. The trading strategy we will employ is called a long
straddle and is usually amenable to day traders owing to the availability of stop loss orders on the
Commsec platform. Information such as companies circumstances, media announcements, public
reports and historical data are all important information available to establish a trading profile and
goals. For example, this trade works best when an imminent announcement is pending that increases
implied volatility or impacts on the share price significantly. One such occasion would be a half year
reports due out in February 2016. Thus, in the process of building the trade we distill our trading
profile.
This trade requires fundamental analysis (and completely avoids technical analysis), which is based on
traditional economic theory and focuses on the fundamental value inside a company. Usually this
involves taking the company s macro economic form, future opportunities and operating conditions as
measurements to estimate their market value. With this information we can determine the worth of At
the Money options (ATM) required to set up the long straddle.

The Measures against Drunk Driving
Should drink drive limit? include: arguments, data analysis, economic effects, and social effects
environmental effects. Drunk driving over the years has led to many atrocities; traffic congestions,
accidents, mishaps, unruly words exchanged and on the other extreme, deaths. An American is killed
every 40 minutes by a drunk driver. These accidents usually occur in the later parts of the night or
early parts of the day. And the age group for drunk drivers is usually between 21 24 years. Also men
seem to be more susceptible to be drunk drivers than women. (Facts, 2009) To qualify as a drunk
driver, the alcohol content in the blood level of an individual needs to be greater than or equal to .08
grams per deciliter (g/dL). And parents are worried that children will be indulging in this activity
frequently and wish to curb it but find they are helpless. But the key to solving this issue by parents is
that they think like their children. Be it teenagers or adults. Young people think they can do anything.
They are reckless and full of life, not thinking of the dire consequences of situations they may place
themselves into. But parents know better. They know that even young people cannot combat death
when it comes. And so they must realize that young people hate having their privileges taken away,
and they hate an adult, especially their parents finding out. So parents can take this particular action
against children, and forewarn them that this will happen if they indulge

Greed In America
What, exactly, makes an American an American? This question has been asked and answered since
before this country was officially founded. Men and women of a multitude of races and culture have
written and spoke of it. Both ends of the spectrum have been addressed extensively. From admiring
ambition to condemning corruption, nothing has been left out. In America there are three things that,
to me, truly define us. A nationwide greed, awe inspiring in its magnitude, which gives the Capitalistic
system we run on life. A deeply ingrained sense of patriotism, hewn into us by our revolutionary
forefathers, that has earned us many powerful enemies and allies. The underlying distrust of our own
government, which allowed us to create our democracy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have the strongest military in the world, with a bigger military budget than the next eight countries
combined, on average. We even extend our military operations into civil wars that otherwise wouldn t
concern us because we are simply asked by that countries leader or an ally. Unless Congress is sure we
will lose, we just throw troops at any country that asks. We then proceed to make sure it becomes a
democracy before leaving. I neither support nor condemn these actions, but they have a tendency to
bring enemies with them. While the military and government are fully capable of dealing with these
adversaries, I must question the fact that they continue to act the same, despite the opposition it makes
them. Regardless, the intense pride the American people feel for their military and its flaws is simply
another thing that makes an American an

Reprimand and a Final warning. A reprimand is a verbal warning given to the youth by a police
officer. The child may then be sent off to a youth offending team to complete voluntary work also
known as community service, this will help to teach the youth a lesson not to punish them. A final
warning is given to a child who admits that they are wrong in the offence they have performed. The

Compensation will be taken into consideration for personal injury, loss or damage which has happened
from the offence. Child safety order This order is given to given aged 10 and over and its intentions is
to help and support them if the court feel as if they are at a risk of being involved in anti social
behaviour. The child may be given a curfew, this is to make sure that they are in after a certain time so
they do not get the chance to commit any crimes. If they breach the curfew they must then be
supervised by a social worker. Parenting orders It is given to a parent and this requires them to attend
a 3 month programme. This programme will help parents to deal with their child s behaviour and stop
them offending. The child may then be given a curfew and it is down to the parents to make sure their
child is attending school and that they are there on time to help them get a better education. Reparation
order A reparation order gives the offender a second chance to make things better, the offender may be
asked to either help repair the damage from their offence, write a letter of apology to the victim,
verbally communicate with the victim to talk about the impact of the offence or have to do community
service. There are punishments if you do not do what is asked from you, you could be fined, be given

The Perfect Family of the 1950s Versus the Present Time of Families
Is it worth going back to the 1950s and experience the workplace of woman and men going to War or
staying in the present time. Many people in today s society see the morals and values of the past of the
fifties. Nevertheless, the fifties had its nuclear family to where everyone was set for in life already.
The woman became homemakers and men worked at an occupation. In the 1950s men were going to
War, so the mother had to do both work and raise the family. However, after the War the woman
wanting to continue to work, but the men were overpowering the woman in the past. In today s culture
everyone works and raise a family together. From the past to the present time of the 1950s the culture
has changed. The woman finally got rights to do more activities now then it was in the fifties.
Therefore, people have opinions to go back to the past to experience of what had happened to the
nuclear family. America has changed by the culture and the environment from the 1950s to the present
time of men and woman raising a family.
American culture in the 1950s was based on nuclear family. It was set of a perfect family for example,
men go to work and support the family when women stayed home to raise a family. The people in the
1950s who raise their families had morals to have a value of having an ideal family. The women in the
nuclear family had a commitment of taking care of their children and staying at home as being a

The Purpose Of The Spanish Armada
On August 1588, an enormous Spanish fleet of 130 ships sailed from A Coruña under the command of
the Duke of Medina Sidonia with the sole purpose of invading England. If the invasion succeeded, it
would change the world and Christianity; there would not be an England, as we know it, in its place a
Spanish colony; Catholicism would prevail as the superior form of Christianity over Protestantism.
There would be no British Empire, but, in its stead, the Spanish Empire. The USA would be heavily
influenced by the Spanish. The world s most spoken language would be Spanish. But after all, what
were the motives of the Spaniards for launching such a vast invasion on Britain; what was worth all
the effort and work? In this essay, the reasons for the launching of the Spanish Armada will be
covered.
The motives of the Spanish were plenty. The Spanish desired England to be part of their expanding
empire. By taking over England, there would be minimal traffic towards America from the rest of ...

King Philip s ambitions was the most prominent of the reasons as the Spanish Armada was one of the

this event would prove useful in becoming a crucial example in the study regarding pre war conditions
of invasions and relationships between the contenders. A profound understanding of such events might
even allow future wars to be evaded. The Spanish Armada itself was a brilliant idea and, if it had
succeeded, Spain would have owned The empire on which the sun never sets . However, the Spanish
Armada failed; England remained independent, and British influence from that point onwards

How Has Volleyball Changed Over The Years
Volleyball has been played for many years by many people. The sport was invented in 1895 by

been played for many years (History of Volleyball).
Women s uniforms have not changed as much as the sport has. In the 70 s women s volleyball
uniforms were form fitting but not tight. For example, they wore mid length shorts and form fitting

On a talk show, Mattie discusses the controversy topic of deportation of immigrants. She tells a story
about pair of immigrants who were discovered deadkilled after deportation. Then the TV showed both
Mattie and the interview man talking without sound, and another man s voice told us that the
immigration and naturalization service had returned to illegal aliens, a woman and her son, to her
native El Salvador last week, and that Mattie claimed that had been taken into custody when they
stepped off the plane in san Salvador and later were found dead in a ditch (Kingsolver 105 106). This
shows how America doesn t care about what happens to illegal immigrants after they ve been
deported. This is another example of how immigrants suffer due to the ignorance of Americans. Lou
Ann has invited several people, including Estevan to a dinner party. During the party, Estevan tells a
Wild Indian Story , If you go visit hell... people sit, like us. Only they are dying of starvation...you can
go visit heaven...you see a room like the first one... but these people are all happy and fat (Kingsolver
107 108). The story is supposed to be a metaphor to represent how immigrants suffer in the same
system as Whites who benefit in the system. Due to this, a lot of privileged Americans do not see how
the immigrants are suffering. Taylor was walking through a room that used to hold a family on
immigrants.

Writing By Omission By John Mcphee Summary
Try Greening That
The first article listed to read was Writing by Omission by John McPhee, which I found to be an
interesting lens to inspect the three pieces from the The Globe and Mail we chose to read. Out of the
four readings of the week, Writing by Omission was by far the most insightful. McPhee uses his own
tribulations as a writer in the industry to illustrate his notion that writing is selection. Every word,
paragraph, and chapter must be selected amongst a great arc of potentialities available to the writer,
and it is the author s grand task to carefully choose the most appropriate next piece.
McPhee recounts his time trying to select the best words to be left behind from his manuscripts and
what should be restored and what shouldn t be. The idea of greening a paper comes from his work at
Time, where the articles had to fit a specified number of lines. The authors were told to Green 5, and
had no choice but to comply by removing five entire lines from their work. The practice, McPhee
argues, forces the writer to make the most out of what they have and how making a piece tighter and
more restricted enhances its appeal. I can t help but wonder how many lines could be greened from my
own reflective papers, or my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Moreover, these two political parties have been prominent in our government, and has influenced

Jane Eyre Phrenology Essay
Phrenology is the study of attributing specific personality traits and behaviors to specific portions of
the head, and was discovered by Franz Joseph Gall sometime in either the 18th or 19th century
(Gross). The word phrenology is derived from two Greek words meaning mind and knowledge
(Price). His revolutionary, although faulty and erroneous, science of the mind changed the study of
psychology. Victorian England was a supporter of Gall s work, and was a popular method of trying to
understand the fellow man.
Jane Eyre, a novel written by Charlotte Brontë, depicts many unique characters, including that of the
main protagonist. Jane Eyre is an unusual girl when compared to others of her time in society, and was
rarely understood. Through the use of phrenology, Jane s personality and behaviors could be attributed
to her cephalic anatomy. To be concise, Jane is perceived as weird because of the shape of her head.
Although this science is nonsensical to modern scholars, phrenology was accepted in the English
society of the 1700s by the world of academia. Phrenology could be easily used to examine and study
the mind of Jane Eyre in those days, and could have happened in the novel if Brontë had wished to do
so.

It enables a greater variety and quantity of agricultural goods to be traded on the global market.
Moreover, this liberalization gives the freedom to global investors to make foreign investments into
other countries. Some of these foreign investments include transnational food companies (TFCs),
including large supermarkets (Hawkes, 2006). In consequence, a greater level of international flow of
goods and services and capital result from this market and policy liberalization. A notable agreement
was the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) agreement on
agriculture. It bound countries to reduce tariffs, export subsidies and domestic agricultural support.
Overall, other bilateral agreements that have taken place over the last 30 years have allowed policy
shifts to establish a more liberal global agricultural marketplace. This has also encouraged the growth
of TFCs, easily creating a global network of food import/export for cheaper prices, changing the
supply of foods (Hawkes, 2006). How does this affect the nutrition transition? With this increase in
liberalisation of markets, there is a significant change of food distribution and access that has
particularly affected countries undergoing development. Generally, foods that are more energy dense
with less nutrients are more readily available, particularly from TFCs and greater supermarket access,
making the nutrition

any of my positions when I moved to a new assignment. Before I retired from the Air Force in 2012, I
took a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) class. This class went over in depth about preparing the
resume and how to interview but made no mention on how organizations use social media for
recruiting. As a volunteer for a non profit company, I ve also watched the employees in the HR
department struggle to find the right candidate for their administrative assistant position. For the last
six months or more, they have relied heavily on a rotating roster of temp agency workers while they
continue to interview potential candidates. In the meantime, HR employees are burden with extra
duties until the position is filled. The HR department used job boards to advertise the position, but
some candidates get as far as a second round of interviews but don t pan out. This paper s purpose is
to take a behind the scenes looks on how organizations are advertising job opening in the social media
age and what are the best practices for recruiting talent in the social media age.
What companies are doing now
Social media is a growing facet of the recruitment process, but is not the only source organizations use
to advertise their jobs. According to Sinha and Thaly (2013), social media is part of a multi prong
approach and is combined with several other avenues:

Critical Analysis Of A Neural Network
First, we have encountered one major problem that is how to interpret a neural network given its black
box characteristics. We really wanted to try ourselves, giving interpretation of our results so that we
dug into the existing literature and found out a very interesting research paper written by Garson in
1991. In « Illuminating the black box: a randomization approach for understanding variable
contributions in artificial neural networks », Olden and al. describes Garson s algorithm very
concisely so that we could create a user defined function on Python that replicates the method. The
interpretation of the method is provided below. The outputs of the different algorithms in the context

The BM ratio allows us to categorize companies into either a growth (low BM ratio) or a value (high
BM ratio) profile and past empirical studies (see Fama and French) suggest that portfolios formed
over value companies tend to out perform portfolios formed over growth companies over time. We
don t know the influence direction of the variable (given the PCA black box transformation and
Garson s output) but we can formulate hypotheses on the fact that value companies tend to beat the
market more often than growth companies. Dividend yield and EVtoEBITDA that are our 2nd and 3rd
most relevant variables for Neural Nework output also support this previous fact high dividend yield
paying companies characterize generally value companies, while the EVtoEBITDA ratio characterize
the relative price of a company since it returns how many times an investor is willing to buy the
EBITDA (Earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of a company when he
purchases a share of the company. An investor that invests in high EVtoEBITDA companies has
generally good growth prospects views regarding the recurrent earnings of the company. Finally, the
factor size is the 4th most relevant factor that affects our output and this fact is also supported by

The Network Of A Network
A network is a support system that can be used to make connections and provide you with future
opportunities. Networks can be a positive thing because they allow access to great business
opportunities, give you access to information or future clients and increases communication. For
women though we are still experiencing gender inequality in the work place. Women have less
opportunity for promotion in the work place and still face a pay gap. The purpose of Stiletto Networks
is women making their voices heard in the business world. Stiletto Networks work to improve women
s lives, their communities and companies they are involved in. They also focus on women being able
to become the biggest and bravest version of themselves. They also provide opportunities for women
to network in gatherings such as dinner events, salon events and other social places. It provides
women with a sense of comfort knowing there are other women out there who want their voice heard
in the business world. The name of my Stiletto Network is Women with a Purpose. I chose this name
because I think as a network we can encourage other women to not be afraid to have a voice, take a
stand and change the world. The significance of the name that I have created for my network is that it
is built around a group of women, who I believe work to empower other women each and every day.
The five women I have selected to serve as my Board of Directors are Beyoncé Knowles, Ellen

A Prayer For Owen Meany Foreshadowing Analysis
In the novel A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, religious theme, symbols for armlessness, and
unchronological events of foreshadowing displaying a boisterous, yet spirited story. This story leads
you on then leaves you hanging, proving the reader with a thrill throughout the entire book. Theme,
symbols and foreshowing all help tie into the literary elements displayed in the novel.
At the beginning of the novel the narrator, Johnny, points out that there is something very special
about Owen Meany, not just in the way he talks (shouts) but how deeply devoted Owen is to his
religious beliefs. Keep in mind Owen is only nine and has a devote understanding of the relationship

Johnny s first person narrative skips form scene to scene and memory to memory. Irving uses
foreshadowing to hint at some action or meaning to come later in the book. In the first chapter of the
book Tabby, Jonny s mother, dies from a foul ball hit by Owen. It isn t until chapter three that the
foreshadowing off Tabby s death is from being hit in the head with a hailstone.
Wait a minute, she said. Let me out. You get in first. She meant that he was small enough to straddle
the drive shaft hump, in the middle of the seat, between her and Dan, but when she stepped outside the
Buick even for just a second a hailstone ricocheted off the roof of the car and smacked her right
between the eyes. Ow! she cried, holding her head. I M SORRY! Owen said quickly (125).
Overall, this book is very intriguing and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The book is filled with a
roller coaster of emotions due to foreshowing, armlessness and miracles. Johnny s faith in God is
deeper than it ever has been by the end of the book thanks to Owen. The armlessness throughout the
books symbolizes people as well as objects and the foreshowing gives off subtle hints of what is going
to happen in the future, but in this case we already know the future due to the books unchronological
events! A prayer for Owen Meany is a book of full of faith, symbols, and

Political Incorporation Analysis
Political incorporation refers to the extent to which a group s interests are effectively represented in
policy making. This can be measured by looking at the extent to which a group is represented in a
coalition that dominates city policy making on issues concerning them. There is a range of
possibilities. A group is not represented at all when there are no officials from a group holding
political office and the group does not participate in a coalition that does have control over city
government on the issues most important to them. Sometimes there is some representation, on a
council dominated by a coalition, when a group has a large role in a dominant coalition that is
committed to minority interest. Groups with the highest levels of political ... Show more content on

Getting members of the community involved in governing and decision making is important.
Implementing programs like the participatory budgeting one found in at least one New York City
council district. In such programs, a community s residents have access to a certain portion of the
district s annual budget and through a series of neighborhood assemblies and public meetings over the
course of several months, residents brainstorm ideas of projects that are needed in their
neighborhoods. At the end of the process, the residents get to vote on the project proposals to choose
which ones are most important to the community and the projects receiving the most votes get
implemented ( What do you want in out neighborhood ). In programs like these, people in low
income, majority minority neighborhoods are able to be part of the decision making process and
projects that are important to them can get done. Though participation in participatory budgeting
programs in U.S. municipalities has a lot of room for growth, it s things like this that can help

The Middle Eastern Country Of Yemen
In the Middle Eastern country of Yemen, a battle is being fought leaving much destruction to
infrastructure and hundreds of lives lost. Actually it is not so much of a battle as it is a total, one sided
bombardment of this country. This is an attempt from a U.N. sponsored, Saudi led coalition that is
trying to persuade Houthi rebels into thinking reasonably and diplomatically by bombing them back
into the Stone Age. In order to fully understand what brought the U.N. to a point of agreement on
engagement of this operation, it is important to understand the recent history of Yemen and the events
leading up to this conflict. Equally important is the geographic location of Yemen, the main actors

The city of Riyadh was eventually forced to recognize Yemen s republican government.
Now as then, Riyadh sees the struggle in Syria as a defining moment. As the leader of the Sunni
Muslim world, it perceives an opportunity to check what it sees as Iranian plans to encircle the
kingdom with hostile Shiite dominated regimes. As the war has taken on a more sectarian character,
the usually reserved foreign minister, Prince Saud al Faisal, has described Assad s onslaught against
his own people as genocide and Syrian lands as being under occupation a clear reference to the
presence of Iranian and Hezbollah forces.
It is no secret that the Saudis are supplying elements of the Syrian opposition with weapons. They all
but admitted as much when the prince said a few weeks ago that if the international community is not
willing to do anything, then they must allow Syrians to defend themselves.
The Saudis will use all tools available to oust Assad, while taking measures to ensure that the weapons
they re supplying to the rebels do not fall into the hands of extremists. Nevertheless, following the
chemical attack on civilians near Damascus last month, the Saudi foreign minister spoke candidly
about the inability of the Arab nations to put a stop to Assad s campaign through force of arms, adding
that any military effort to do so would likely involve actors outside the region. Recent suggestions that

chest wall. Which of these signs would indicate the presence of a pneumothorax in this client? *
Diminished breath sounds
Rationale: This client has sustained a blunt or a closed chest injury. Basic symptoms of a closed
pneumothorax are shortness of breath and chest pain. A larger pneumothorax may cause tachypnea,
cyanosis, diminished breath sounds, and subcutaneous emphysema. Hyperresonance also may occur
on the affected side. A sucking sound at the site of injury would be noted with an open chest injury.

inspiration * Rationale: Rib fractures are a common injury, especially in the older client, and result
from a blunt injury or a fall. Typical signs and symptoms include pain and tenderness localized at the
fracture site and exacerbated by inspiration and palpation, shallow respirations, splinting or guarding
the chest protectively to minimize chest movement, and possible bruising at the fracture site.
Paradoxical respirations are seen with flail chest. * * (660) 9. A client with a chest injury has suffered
flail chest. A nurse assesses the client for which most distinctive sign of flail chest? * Paradoxical
chest movement * Rationale: Flail chest results from multiple rib fractures. This results in a floating
section of the ribs. Because this section is unattached to the rest of the bony rib cage, this segment
results in paradoxical chest movement. This means that the force of inspiration pulls the fractured
segment inward, while the rest of the chest expands. Similarly, during exhalation, the segment
balloons outward while the rest of the chest moves inward. This is a

How I Got An Xbox 360
Growing up I was very active. I enjoyed going outside and playing sports. Most of the time my friends
and I would throw the football, ride four wheelers, or do anything that included being active and
moving around. Then there were days it would be raining and we could not go outside, or it be night
time and had to stay inside. When I could not go outside, I was bored and I complained about being
bored all the time. We did not have much technology items in our house. So, finding stuff to do to
entertain myself was a challenge. Then I started playing video games, I got a phone, and I found out
that YouTube had come out and that change my life. I got an Xbox 360 when I was ten. My step dad
had a PlayStation and I played it some, but this Xbox 360 was my first gaming console. The first
Xbox was released and many people had it, even my cousin. There was about twenty five million
Xboxes sold (xbox). I never did get to get that first Xbox, but I got the second one the Xbox 360. The
second one was more successful than the first selling over eighty million consoles (xbox). I would
play all night. I beat all the games and then would start over because I did not have Xbox Live, which
is where there is a chance to play with other people online. My friends and I would still go outside and
play sports or do something, but if we couldn t find something to do right away we would go play
video games. Then I started playing video game a lot more. I would play anytime I did not have

The American Justice System Is Corrupt
Do you believe that everyone should be free? Well the thing is that America is really taking that away
from people who have done something wrong even when it s for petty stuff like writing a bad check.
Some stuff is understandable like murder or other stuff, but some is outrageous. The American prison
population has been absolutely ridiculous; it s crazy for the U.S. To have such high prison rates. The
more you know about it the more frustrating it gets, and if you ask almost anyone you would think so
too. The only people who might agree are big business s owners like American Express and Bank of
American. The American justice system is corrupt.
In the 80 s, the rising number of people locked up as a result of the War on Drugs and the wave of
privatization that occurred under the Reagan Administration saw the rise of the for profit industry.
Prior to the 80 s, private prisons did not exist is the US. In a 2011 report by the ACLU, it is claimed
that the rise of profit prison industry is a major contributor to mass incarceration, along with the
stuffed state budgets. Louisiana, for example, has the highest rate of incarceration I in the world with
the majority of its prisoners being privatized prisons, profit facilities. Such institutions could face
economic failure without a steady influx of prisoners. A 2013 Bloomberg report states that in the past

Operation Jump Start Case Study
In an attempt to control the influx of illegal immigrants that enter the country, the U.S. Customs and

the southwest border (MOA, 2006, p. 1) of the United States. A memorandum of agreement between
the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and the Department of Defense (DOD)

Similar to the PCA of 1873, DOD Directive 5525.5 prohibits the following forms of assistance: (1)
interdiction of a vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or other similar activity; (2) a search or seizure; (3) an arrest,
apprehension, stop and frisk, or similar activity; and (4) use of military personnel in the pursuit of
individuals, or as undercover agents, informants, investigators, or interrogators (Mason, 2013, p. 3).
Thus, the National Guard devoted the majority of resources to manning observation posts, flying alert
aircraft, building roads, fences, and vehicle barricades, and fulfilling administrative functions (i.e.,
desk duties) (Holstege, 2008). Other forms of regulation include the regional rules for the use of force

Theme Of A Worn Path
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, written in 1941, is a short story about an elder, Negro woman, Phoenix
Jackson, traveling along a well worn path to an unknown destination. As the title suggests, this is a
path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a person
would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love.
Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a
person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the
theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the legendary
bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M. Jones writes,
The references at the beginning of the story announce rather clearly that a comparison with the
legendary bird is intended. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the story progresses. The
reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story, especially when the reader
concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the path. Her loss of memory is a
reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix remembering her reason for the
journey is a representation of being reborn.
Welty s diction and the time period that the short story was written also gives the reader context into
Phoenix s endurance of the wrath of society. Phoenix is described as an

Racial Stereotyping And Profiling
Racial stereotyping and profiling effects the American way of life in more ways than people realize,
whether it be in police investigations, routine traffic stops, and even when someone walking home
from work or school crosses the street to avoid contact with the person approaching them. This is an
evolutionary trait, to avoid the things the human race perceives as a threat, but it is being taken to the
extreme in societal issues, with people of one race blaming others for problems they have faced.

The Failure Of The American Prison System
The Failure of the American Prison System The subject of prison evokes fearful and violent images
seen in movies or on television; outdated clichés consisting of men eating stale bread and drinking
dirty water that are intended to repulse people and deter them from committing crimes and ending up
in such a position. Unfortunately, the reality of the American prison system is just as troubling as the
dated stereotypes surrounding it. Despite its success in keeping dangerous offenders off the streets, the
modern prison system fails in fulfilling its original design of restoring criminals to being productive
members of society. It has proven to be an inefficient and ineffective system by focusing on
punishment over rehabilitation, leading to issues such as overcrowding, wasting taxpayers money and
a high recidivism rate. As children, most people learn obedience through punishment. When we do
something wrong one or several privileges are taken away by our parents. Depending on the severity
of a mistake, such punishment may last for a very short time or in some cases it may even be
permanent. Many parents inflict the common punishment of not allowing their children to watch
television for a certain amount of time. Such disciplinary methods often prove to be positive learning
experiences that teach children right from wrong and instill them with values that prevent them from
doing it again. Similarly, the United States prison system was initially designed with the same basic

Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health Essay
Enormous amounts of research have linked socioeconomic status to mental health, especially in
children and adolescents. Low poverty levels have been specifically identified as a key causal factor in
developing mental health problems in children. There has been much discussion over the different
theories as to why this is the case, but only two of these theories seem to hold a lot of evidence.
Certain interventions and preventative measures can be employed in order to improve an individual s
mental health by altering socioeconomic status and they have proven to be successful. Low
socioeconomic status has a profound impact on mental health in children; however, if the appropriate
interventions and preventative measures are used, mental health outcomes can be drastically
improved. Socioeconomic status is a complex construct that is based on household income, material
resources, education, and occupation, as well as related neighborhood and family characteristics, such
as exposure to violence and toxins, parental care and provision of a cognitively stimulating
environment. (Hackman et Al, 2010) Research has shown that low socioeconomic status has a huge
impact on mental health in children and adolescents, primarily due to the associated stress and effects
related to poverty. There are three primary factors or levels through which poverty affects
children/adolescents: individual, relational, and institutional. The first of these levels, individual
factors, are the factors

Abstract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
II. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
We develop our theoretical framework by first reviewing definitions of IT infrastructure and its
components. We then define the concept of IT infrastructure flexibility and its relationship to strategic
IT business alignment and to applications implementation in the organization.
Information Technology Infrastructure
The topic of IT infrastructure has been a key issue for both researchers and practicing managers for
some time [see e.g., Brancheau, Janz, Wetherbe, 1996]. The organization s IT infrastructure basically
integrates technology components to support business needs but the IT infrastructure concept is more
complicated. The definition of IT infrastructure encompasses a variety of components. Based on
previous studies, Duncan [1995] stated that IT infrastructure includes a group of shared, tangible IT
resources that provide a foundation to enable present and future business applications [Broadbent
Weill, 1997; Davenport Linder, 1994; Earl, 1989; Keen, 1991; McKay Brockway, 1989; Niederman,
Brancheau, Wetherbe, 1991; Weill, 1993]. These resources include: (1) computer hardware and
software (e.g., operating systems); (2) network and telecommunications technologies; (3) key data; (4)
core data processing applications; (5) shared IT services. Duncan [1995] also stated that IT
infrastructure includes the alignment of IT plans to business objectives, the IT

How Much Aid Should Wealthy Nations Provide for Developing Countries? Introduction Politics have
been important throughout history, but in the last century, government has changed a large amount.
With the rise of the standard of living in first world nations, there has been a push to help bring
everyone in the world up to a minimum standard. There have been many perspectives taken on the
issue, and there are many articles for helping and against helping developing nations shown through
political and historical lenses. A key question is how much aid wealthy nations should provide for
developing nations, and how to provide it. Two articles considered this question. The first article deals

Bandow argues through many perspectives in the political lens, creating a blending of voices that
makes his argument to have less government in developing nations more effective than if he relied on
one perspective alone. Article #2 The other article, Why developing countries get stuck with weak
institutions and how foreign actors can help by Brad Parks, Mark Buntaine, and Benjamin Butch
argues that the incentives given by donors only change cosmetic functions of the institution, rather
than changing actual results. An example is providing aid to improve staffing in an organization to
have people with better qualifications , but not dealing with the corruption in the rest of country, so
better qualified people still can t make things better. Rewarding countries for doing things that are just
cosmetic doesn t accomplish anything, but often gets the reward of more aid. This group wants more
change in the regimes of developing nations, which would lead to actual development. The current
system leads to stagnation of developing countries. The countries put large amount of effort into
achieving cosmetic goals to get the next financial quota, but they are so poor they can t or won t do the

HIM 6640 Case Studies in Health Information Management
Name: Bayo Oshunlalu
Case #: 1 19
Case Title: Primary Ambulatory Care Center EHR and Meaningful Use.
Qu. 1. What major elements do you need to consider in the project to propose a selected EHR system
and become a meaningful user?
Gaining familiarity
A multi physician owned primary ambulatory care practice and the board of directors seek to embark
on implementing an EHR system that will enable the organization to meet the meaningful use
requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The decision to embark on
the project was mainly driven by the incentive program offered by the stage I of the HITECT/ARRA,
and to provide the organization with the capability to streamline their registration, billing, and bedside
documentation process.
Recognized Symptoms
The first step necessary to begin with the EHR implementation process is the assessment of the
organization s readiness for an electronic system; these assessments will include the expectation of the
organization regarding the proposed EHR system, the clinical goals of the practice, and the financial
ramification of embarking on the EHR project. Furthermore, the assessment will highlight various
processes that will include administrative procedures, clinical workflow redesign, data collection
process and data integrity issues, how literate are staff members with computers (the need to offer
education program in basic computer usage), special

The Impact Of Air Bags On A Car Safety Device
Impact Analysis of Air Bags
Name : Kevin Agrawal
ID. No 2013A4PS254G
Details of the reference paper used : http://www nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pubs/806572.pdf Introduction
An airbag is a vehicle safety device consisting of a flexible fabric bag, also known as an airbag
cushion. The airbag module is designed to inflate rapidly then quickly deflate during a collision or
impact with another object or a sudden deceleration. The purpose of the airbag is to provide occupant
protection and restraint during a crash event.
The introduction of the air bags dates back to 11th July 1984 when the United States government
amended (FMVSS 208), to require cars produced after 1 April 1989 to be equipped with a passive
restraint for the driver. Hence an airbag along with and seat belt would meet the requirements of the
standard. The invention of the airbags is credited to the German engineer Walter Linderer and North
American John W. Hetrick who in 1951 registered for the first airbag patents.
The airbag cushions manufactured world wide are constructed with fabric made from nylon 6,6 yarn.
Air bags are actually inflated by a solid rocket booster. Sodium azide (NaN3) and potassium nitrate
(KNO3) react very quickly to produce a large pulse of hot nitrogen gas. This gas inflates the bag,
which literally bursts out of the steering wheel or dashboard as it expands. Airbags need to inflate at
an extremely fast rate in order to be fully inflated by the time a person s body begins to

Preschool For Ells Essay
Link: http://www.readingrockets.org/webcasts/3007 The webcast that I chose for this module is titled
Preschool for ELLs. This webcast was separated into four different categories which cover the
following topics; language instruction, curriculum, professional development, and family outreach. I
decided to watch Preschool for ELLs because the topic is very dear to me as an elementary education
teacher. The first video began with describing how English Language Learners develop the language
skills they needed to become successful readers. The speaker went on to discuss the importance of
Maslow s hierarchy of needs in English Language Learners, and how it s development plays a vital
role in the child s language development. Another point the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I believe that a metacognitive reader is able to decode and ask questions about a text. Teachers can
encourage students to be metacognitive while reading by modeling, giving the students a question to
answer while listening to a text, or simply asking the students to predict the next event. There are
several ways to encourage students to use metacognitive thinking during reading. However, I believe
that one of the most effective ways of sparking this form of thinking is by giving the students the
option to read texts that spark their interests. Allowing this text freedom would motivate them to
question what they are reading, and that is the essence of being a metacognitive reader.
2. How would you respond to critics who feel that class time is wasted with independent reading? My
response to a statement such as this would be that in the elementary grades it is NEEDED. What one
may view as the children wasting time is indispensable to the child s reading development. The best
statement that defends this argument was phrased flawlessly by famous teacher, author, and musical
artist Dr. Jean.
It looks like I m playing, but I m developing alphabet knowledge, oral language, print knowledge,
listening skills, eye hand coordination, concepts about the world, and the desire to read.
If critics cannot understand the benefits of independent reading for young children, then they should
consider other areas of education to critique. The core of every moment in

Case Study Sealed Air
Sealed Air was faced with two different options regarding the prospective launch of an uncoated
bubble packaging product. Sealed Air could either launch the product worldwide or in selected
locations or consider the option of not entering the uncoated bubble packaging market at all.
As with all the evaluation of all new product market entry strategies, Sealed Air must first consider its
organizational strengths and how they relate to the potential product launch. More specifically, Sealed
Air must be cognizant of their widely respected brand of high quality and superior performance coated
bubble packages. With the potential launch of an uncoated bubble packaging product, Sealed Air risks
diluting their brand value, particularly in the quality and performance conscious US market. There is
also the possibility that the introduction of an uncoated bubble wrap product might negate the
consumer education the organization has previously performed regarding the advantages of coated
bubble products. An additional organizational strength of Sealed Air is their corporate management
goal of both market leadership and technological innovation. Entry into the uncoated product market
would diverge from both goals, as Sealed Air would be neither the market leader nor the technological
innovator. A reactionary entry into the market would be contrary to ... Show more content on

to several competitors introduction of low priced competing uncoated bubble packaging of tolerable
quality. As more European suppliers choose to move

U.s. Foreign Policy Approaches
The United States (U.S.) uses two approaches to their foreign policy. The first approach is realism.
This viewpoint stresses that the principal actors, states, will pursue their own interests in an anarchical
world. States will try to establish a balance of power that restrains aggressive states from dominating
weaker ones. The second approach is idealism. This view stresses that states should transform the
system into a new international order where peace can prevail. This approach emphases the spread of
democracy across the world and the creation of international institutions. Realism and idealism
provides an explanation to how U.S. foreign policy has developed since World War Two (WWII),
identifies which influential factors play a role in both foreign policy approaches, and determines
which view has best served the pursuit of national interests. The realist and idealist approaches are
important in explaining the swinging pendulum path American foreign policy took since WWII. Over
the past seventy years, U.S. foreign policy switches between these two approaches. After WWII
ended, idealistic U.S. policymakers believed that cooperation between the United States and Soviet
Union would transform the world to a more cooperative and peaceful one. This idealistic belief was
quickly demolished by the Soviet expansions in Turkey and Greece and the destruction of the hopes of
U.S. Soviet cooperation after WWII. So, U.S. policymakers switched to a realist approach in a

Essay about Were The Salem Witch Trials Spurred By Food...
In all of human history, people have written about inhuman beings, many of which include gods,
demons, wizards, sorcerers, sorceresses, and witches. Nowadays mystical beings are seen everywhere
in media. Most of society stopped believing in these creatures years ago, but for 17th century Salem,
witchcraft became a living nightmare (Fremon, 1999). I have studied this topic for years, especially
anything pertaining to the Salem Witch Trials. I have read several books and have sources from
universities and medical writers. I have studied the Salem Witch Trials out of interest for some time,
and once I discovered the suspicion that ergot poisoning might have been a factor, I did a great deal of
research in that area. This topic can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was known as St. Anthony s Fire because of the burning sensation in the limbs and blackening of
the skin. Monks, who ate white wheat bread and not rye bread, were treating the victims and shared
their wheat bread with them, which helped the victims to heal because they were not eating infected
bread (Bonnet Basson, 2004, p. 213). Ergot has been used for medical purposes since the late 1500s
but was not acknowledged academically until the 1800s. Midwives used it to prevent excess bleeding
during childbirth. It was not used for long because it caused uterine spasms and dangers to the child.
In the early 1900s, W. A. Jacobs and L.C. Craig of the Rockefeller Institute of New York developed
lysergic acid by studying ergot. Swiss chemist, Albert Hoffman, experimented with the mold, ergot,
and the alkaloids that made up lysergic acid, and was studying diethylamide but the new substance
had no medical uses. From this, he subsequently created the drug LSD. (May, 1998) Ergot can affect
any part of the body in both people and animals and can cause problems in any body system, known
or unknown. The symptoms can range from mental to physical distresses, such as extreme confusion
and hallucinations to convulsions and crippling loss of movement (Bonnet Basson, 2004). While LSD
is not addictive, it can do damage similar to, but not as extensive as, the plant of its origin, ergot. In
the year 1630, the Puritan refugees came from England to the

Adversity Horace Character Analysis
Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous conditions would have lain dormant .
These words of Horace are timeless and apply to almost all aspects of the human life. Horace
emphasizes to the audience that the bad times bring out the best in people, which would have gone
unnoticed if the times were solely flourishing. It truly takes treacherous conditions in order for
someone s character to be genuinely expressed. Sometimes this instinct happens naturally and goes
unnoticed, or they happen deliberately. The manner in which mortals act during these situations are
what builds their character to its true extent. Adversity and talent coincide with each other in order to
create life changing opportunities. Although there are several instances where our country, as a whole
has come together during tough times the attacks on September 11 is the most predominant of them
all. During this day the Twin Tower buildings were destructed by two planes, American Airlines Flight
11 and United Airlines Flight 175 being flown by a terrorist group, Al Quaida. In this time of need
civilians immediately rushed to the scene trying to assist those that were trapped in the buildings. Not
only did firefighters and police arrive at the scene, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many fear the thought of adversity but, it is those who see it as an opportunity that shine in the time it
follows. Horace celebrates the fact that adversity brings out the best in people, which is greatly
reported in his quote. By way of illusion, throughout nature, ants are forced to endure harsh
circumstances on a daily basis. Several times throughout their day we humans destruct their homes
and as a result ants work together in order to build a new home for themselves. They do not do it
because they are forced to, they do it because in tough circumstances times they come together to
make amends. Humans and many different animals share this natural

Chemistry Of Caffeine
Caffeine is considered to be the most consumed psycho pick me up and is present in more than sixty
plants. It is part of our everyday consumptions, such as coffee, tea, energy drinks and even chocolate
even its small amount, around 90% of individuals use caffeine in one form or another. Caffeine has
many similar traits with more of the bigger drugs such as cocaine, amphetamines and even heroin. The
thing is that caffeine uses similar biochemical mechanisms as the other drugs which in fact are known
to stimulate the brain function. Caffeine is also known as 1, 3, 7 trimethylxanthine, and derives from a

Not only it is a major component for bones in humans, it also serves other vital roles. Caffeine also
may contribute to loss of bone by increasing calcium excretion and also a decrease in intestinal
absorption efficiency of calcium (4). Calcium provides structure and hardness in bones and teeth, it
allows muscle to contract and nerves to send signals, makes blood vessels expand and contract, helps
to move blood clots, and it also plays a roles in supporting protein function and hormone regulation
(3). Knowing calcium role, it is easy to see how it can lead to a decrease in bone density. Inadequate
calcium intake can lead to decreased bone mineral density, which can increase the risk of bone
fractures (13). A few ways an agent may increase fracture risk and/ or skeletal fragility include an
interference with the bone remodeling process designed to detect and repair fatigue damage in bone
structures and also a decrease in bone tissue mass either generally or in key architectural elements
(12). Osteoporosis is a medical condition, in which the bones become brittle and fragile from loss of
tissue. It is

Gender Gap In Pay
Introduction
Gender Pay Gap also referred to as Gender wage gap, gender income difference or male female
income difference refers to the difference between the earning of men and women (Victoria, 2006).
The European Union defines the Gender Pay gap as the difference between men and women s hourly
earnings (OECD, 2012). The difference may be measured on hourly, weekly, monthly, or yearly
earning. The difference is expressed as a percentage of the men s earning. However, the difference
varies from one industry to another, from one country to another and from one age group to another.
On average, men earn higher than women do across different sectors and nations.

This can be attributed by disruptions that women have later in life especially relating to family life as
well as older women who cannot access benefits that did not exist when they started working. For
instance, in the 25 and below age group segment, the gender pay gap was relatively lower than the
other age groups. However, Cyprus, Portugal, and the United Kingdom show a different trend to that
pattern, where employees between 25 34 Years registered a lower gender pay gap than the 25 years
and lower group. Cyprus with 0.5% recorded the lowest gap for the 25 34 year age group but had the
highest for the 45 54 age bracket at 28.5% and 27.1% for the 55 64 years and 28.7% for the 64 years
and above. Czech Republic had 28.5%, which was the second highest gender pay gap in the area.
Bulgaria at 14.6% and Slovenia at 11.1% had the lowest pay gaps in European Union in the category
by age (OECD, 2012)
By economic sector, in the financial and insurance activities, the gender pay gap was higher than all
other business sectors. For instance, in Estonia and Czech Republic, the gender pay gap stood at
44.9% and 44.8% respectively, which represented the highest gap in the European Union. The lowest
gap was in Slovenia at 20.6%, which was still higher that then the overall EU average. In the Business
economy, the highest gender pay gap was in Estonia at 28.9% and lowest in

  • 3. Searching. Ben Was At Home On A Saturday Night Waiting Searching Ben was at home on a Saturday night waiting on his wife. He had made reservations at her favourite restaurant. When Ben last called Claire she said she would be home in an hour. It had been two hours and there was still no sign of Claire. It was not usual of her to leave Ben uninformed. Ben s concern grew and just as he got up to call her, there was a loud knock on the door. Ben knew it was Claire; after 6 years of marriage, he recognised her annoyingly loud knock. Where have you been? Ben asked. Nowhere, I just missed my bus she replied. Well we can t make it for our reservation anymore he said frustratingly, how about I cook something quickly? You must be starving. It was clear Ben ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Claire entered the flat, he watched her from the corner of the hallway trying to remain inconspicuous. He silently stood with his ear close the door, attempting to eavesdrop on the chatter coming from within the flat. He could not make out anything. Just as he was about to bang on the door, he noticed an air vent near the door and peaked through it. From there he saw Claire. She was perched on the floor: participating in what, to him, looked like some sort ritual. A Séance. The woman who was leading the ritual was very strange looking, sort of, how you would expect a clairvoyant, or is it a medium to look like, Ben thought. He could not believe his eyes; never in a million years would he expect Claire to engage in such a thing. After all, they were both university graduates, well educated people. Ben thought he knew Claire well enough to know she would never do take part in such a thing or believe in these rituals. He spent the whole day questioning why she would do this, but even after having spent the entire day thinking, he could not come to any conclusion. He decided to contact his therapist to talk about the situation and settle his mind on what he should do. His therapist was the only person Ben ever spoke to about his feelings and emotions. The only person he spoke about Claire to. Ben had told Claire about the therapy sessions and recommended that she could take talk to someone too; she rejected him and told Ben she would be ... • 4. Herbert Clark Hoover Biography Essay Herbert Clark Hoover was gloriously born August 10, 1874 and tragically died after suffering for days from a massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage on October 20, 1964. Both of Hoover s parents were dead by the time he was nine years old and was raised in a Quaker home. By the time Hoover was 23 years old he was working as an engineer in Western Australia. As a republican, Hoover served head of the U.S. food Admin. during world war 1, and became internationally known for humanitarian efforts in war time Belgium. He also believed in the importance of volunteerism and of the role of individuals in society and the economy. Hoover, who had made a small fortune in mining, was the first of two Presidents to redistribute his salary (President Kennedy was the other; he gave all his paychecks to charity). When the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to fight the ensuing Great Depression with moderate government public works projects such as the Hoover Dam. The record tax bracket from 25% to 63%, coupled with increases in corporate taxes, in 1933 but the economy plummeted simultaneously and unemployment rates rose to afflict one in four American workers. This downward spiral set the stage for Hoover s defeat in 1932 by Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt, who promised a New Deal. After Roosevelt assumed the Presidency in 1933, Hoover became a spokesman for opposition to the domestic and foreign policies of the New Deal. In 1947, President Harry S. Truman appointed Hoover to head the Hoover Commission, intended to foster greater efficiency throughout the federal bureaucracy. Most historians agree that Hoover s defeat in the 1932 election was caused primarily by the downward economic spiral, although his strong support for prohibition was also significant, but because of the Great Depression Hoover is ranked lower than average among U.S. ... • 5. Essay Child Labor During The Industrial Revolution During the 18 and beginning of the 19th century in certain regions of the U.S child labor made up more than 40 percent of the population (Wolensky). That s almost half of the working population. Since the beginning of time children have always been known to help their families with domestic tasks. Most of these kids worked in factories because they were easy to control and paid less than adults. Kids earned less than half of what adults made in the work force. In these factories they usually cleaned under and inside machines while functioning because of their small size.. That s how these kids felt as it was described in a article in our history book. This quote I found from an online article explains what kids went through during this harsh time. It almost sounds like they were slaves by how low they were getting paid. Most of us have never even heard of kids working late at nights doing jobs that today no one can possibly do because they have been replaced with machines from the dangers they carry. Children worked some of the most dangerous factory jobs that existed and they didn t by choice. They had no choice but to work because either their family was poor or they were orphans. Children most of the time worked in mines, glass factories, textiles, canaries, and home industries. A lot of these industries are filled with dangers that can easily kill them. In this quote Children as young as six years old during the industrial revolution worked hard hours for little or no pay (Child labor in factories). A good number of these kids were harassed and mistreated by the factory bosses. If children didn t arrive on time to work, they would have to be punished by the factory bosses. The punishment was that the children would have to sprint up and down the factory aisle until they were completely drained out of energy and they had to do this nude carrying a backpack full of heavy objects. This caused a lot of children to develop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Star Wars Argumentative Essay Under normal circumstances, when a fairly large franchise film is coming out, you could be forgiven for forgetting about the accompanying video game that inevitably comes along with it. Ranging from painful cash grabs to satisfying tie ins, film inspired games usually appear the afterthought of the Hollywood marketing process. But Star Wars: the Force Awakens isn t a fairly large franchise film, and these are by no means normal circumstances. A little under a month ahead of what could quite possibly be the biggest cinematic release of all time, we fans have not just a shameless tie in but a fully fledged reboot of one of the most loved franchises in Star Wars enormous gaming catalogue. And while that may be as much a result of rose tinted nostalgia and remarkably consistent marketing of Disney as it is anything else, EA DICE s Star Wars Battlefront has quite some expectations to meet now it s finally here. As you more than likely know by now, Star Wars Battlefront is an entirely multiplayer focused game. Players are given the choice between the Multiplayer modes and Battlefront s Missions mode, but the emphasis is placed heavily on the former. Within Multiplayer, there are nine other modes to choose from, varying between the large scale, frenetic 40 player battles of Walker Assault and Supremacy, and the more intimate, small sided modes like Droid Run and Hero Hunt. • 7. Notes On Trading Profile And Goals Trading profile and goals Generally there is an enormous amount of information available to the traders. So in order to trade profitably traders should take only essential information into consideration for analysis. In this paper we trade a portfolio of options, namely 10 BHPC98 puts and 10 BHPC88 calls both with the same strike date and price as evidenced in Appendix B. The trading strategy we will employ is called a long straddle and is usually amenable to day traders owing to the availability of stop loss orders on the Commsec platform. Information such as companies circumstances, media announcements, public reports and historical data are all important information available to establish a trading profile and goals. For example, this trade works best when an imminent announcement is pending that increases implied volatility or impacts on the share price significantly. One such occasion would be a half year reports due out in February 2016. Thus, in the process of building the trade we distill our trading profile. This trade requires fundamental analysis (and completely avoids technical analysis), which is based on traditional economic theory and focuses on the fundamental value inside a company. Usually this involves taking the company s macro economic form, future opportunities and operating conditions as measurements to estimate their market value. With this information we can determine the worth of At the Money options (ATM) required to set up the long straddle. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Measures against Drunk Driving Should drink drive limit? include: arguments, data analysis, economic effects, and social effects environmental effects. Drunk driving over the years has led to many atrocities; traffic congestions, accidents, mishaps, unruly words exchanged and on the other extreme, deaths. An American is killed every 40 minutes by a drunk driver. These accidents usually occur in the later parts of the night or early parts of the day. And the age group for drunk drivers is usually between 21 24 years. Also men seem to be more susceptible to be drunk drivers than women. (Facts, 2009) To qualify as a drunk driver, the alcohol content in the blood level of an individual needs to be greater than or equal to .08 grams per deciliter (g/dL). And parents are worried that children will be indulging in this activity frequently and wish to curb it but find they are helpless. But the key to solving this issue by parents is that they think like their children. Be it teenagers or adults. Young people think they can do anything. They are reckless and full of life, not thinking of the dire consequences of situations they may place themselves into. But parents know better. They know that even young people cannot combat death when it comes. And so they must realize that young people hate having their privileges taken away, and they hate an adult, especially their parents finding out. So parents can take this particular action against children, and forewarn them that this will happen if they indulge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Men and women of a multitude of races and culture have written and spoke of it. Both ends of the spectrum have been addressed extensively. From admiring ambition to condemning corruption, nothing has been left out. In America there are three things that, to me, truly define us. A nationwide greed, awe inspiring in its magnitude, which gives the Capitalistic system we run on life. We even extend our military operations into civil wars that otherwise wouldn t concern us because we are simply asked by that countries leader or an ally. Unless Congress is sure we will lose, we just throw troops at any country that asks. We then proceed to make sure it becomes a democracy before leaving. I neither support nor condemn these actions, but they have a tendency to bring enemies with them. While the military and government are fully capable of dealing with these adversaries, I must question the fact that they continue to act the same, despite the opposition it makes them. The Purpose Of The Spanish Armada On August 1588, an enormous Spanish fleet of 130 ships sailed from A Coruña under the command of the Duke of Medina Sidonia with the sole purpose of invading England. If the invasion succeeded, it would change the world and Christianity; there would not be an England, as we know it, in its place a Spanish colony; Catholicism would prevail as the superior form of Christianity over Protestantism. There would be no British Empire, but, in its stead, the Spanish Empire. The USA would be heavily influenced by the Spanish. The world s most spoken language would be Spanish. But after all, what were the motives of the Spaniards for launching such a vast invasion on Britain; what was worth all the effort and work? This shows how America doesn t care about what happens to illegal immigrants after they ve been deported. This is another example of how immigrants suffer due to the ignorance of Americans. Lou Ann has invited several people, including Estevan to a dinner party. During the party, Estevan tells a Wild Indian Story , If you go visit hell... people sit, like us. Only they are dying of starvation...you can go visit heaven...you see a room like the first one... but these people are all happy and fat (Kingsolver 107 108). • 15. Writing By Omission By John Mcphee Summary Try Greening That The first article listed to read was Writing by Omission by John McPhee, which I found to be an interesting lens to inspect the three pieces from the The Globe and Mail we chose to read. Out of the four readings of the week, Writing by Omission was by far the most insightful. McPhee uses his own tribulations as a writer in the industry to illustrate his notion that writing is selection. Every word, paragraph, and chapter must be selected amongst a great arc of potentialities available to the writer, and it is the author s grand task to carefully choose the most appropriate next piece. McPhee recounts his time trying to select the best words to be left behind from his manuscripts and what should be restored and what shouldn t be. The idea of greening a paper comes from his work at Time, where the articles had to fit a specified number of lines. The authors were told to Green 5, and had no choice but to comply by removing five entire lines from their work. The practice, McPhee argues, forces the writer to make the most out of what they have and how making a piece tighter and more restricted enhances its appeal. Jane Eyre Phrenology Essay Phrenology is the study of attributing specific personality traits and behaviors to specific portions of the head, and was discovered by Franz Joseph Gall sometime in either the 18th or 19th century (Gross). The word phrenology is derived from two Greek words meaning mind and knowledge (Price). His revolutionary, although faulty and erroneous, science of the mind changed the study of psychology. Victorian England was a supporter of Gall s work, and was a popular method of trying to understand the fellow man. Jane Eyre, a novel written by Charlotte Brontë, depicts many unique characters, including that of the main protagonist. Jane Eyre is an unusual girl when compared to others of her time in society, and was rarely understood. Through the use of phrenology, Jane s personality and behaviors could be attributed to her cephalic anatomy. To be concise, Jane is perceived as weird because of the shape of her head. Although this science is nonsensical to modern scholars, phrenology was accepted in the English society of the 1700s by the world of academia. Phrenology could be easily used to examine and study the mind of Jane Eyre in those days, and could have happened in the novel if Brontë had wished to do so. It enables a greater variety and quantity of agricultural goods to be traded on the global market. Moreover, this liberalization gives the freedom to global investors to make foreign investments into other countries. Some of these foreign investments include transnational food companies (TFCs), including large supermarkets (Hawkes, 2006). In consequence, a greater level of international flow of goods and services and capital result from this market and policy liberalization. A notable agreement was the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) agreement on agriculture. It bound countries to reduce tariffs, export subsidies and domestic agricultural support. Overall, other bilateral agreements that have taken place over the last 30 years have allowed policy shifts to establish a more liberal global agricultural marketplace. This has also encouraged the growth of TFCs, easily creating a global network of food import/export for cheaper prices, changing the supply of foods (Hawkes, 2006). How does this affect the nutrition transition? With this increase in liberalisation of markets, there is a significant change of food distribution and access that has particularly affected countries undergoing development. The purpose of Stiletto Networks is women making their voices heard in the business world. Stiletto Networks work to improve women s lives, their communities and companies they are involved in. They also focus on women being able to become the biggest and bravest version of themselves. They also provide opportunities for women to network in gatherings such as dinner events, salon events and other social places. It provides women with a sense of comfort knowing there are other women out there who want their voice heard in the business world. The name of my Stiletto Network is Women with a Purpose. As the title suggests, this is a path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a person would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love. Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the legendary bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M. Jones writes, The references at the beginning of the story announce rather clearly that a comparison with the legendary bird is intended. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the story progresses. The reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story, especially when the reader concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the path. Her loss of memory is a reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix remembering her reason for the journey is a representation of being reborn. It has proven to be an inefficient and ineffective system by focusing on punishment over rehabilitation, leading to issues such as overcrowding, wasting taxpayers money and a high recidivism rate. As children, most people learn obedience through punishment. When we do something wrong one or several privileges are taken away by our parents. Depending on the severity of a mistake, such punishment may last for a very short time or in some cases it may even be permanent. Many parents inflict the common punishment of not allowing their children to watch television for a certain amount of time. Such disciplinary methods often prove to be positive learning experiences that teach children right from wrong and instill them with values that prevent them from doing it again. Similarly, the United States prison system was initially designed with the same basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health Essay Enormous amounts of research have linked socioeconomic status to mental health, especially in children and adolescents. Low poverty levels have been specifically identified as a key causal factor in developing mental health problems in children. There has been much discussion over the different theories as to why this is the case, but only two of these theories seem to hold a lot of evidence. Certain interventions and preventative measures can be employed in order to improve an individual s mental health by altering socioeconomic status and they have proven to be successful. Low socioeconomic status has a profound impact on mental health in children; however, if the appropriate interventions and preventative measures are used, mental health outcomes can be drastically improved. Socioeconomic status is a complex construct that is based on household income, material resources, education, and occupation, as well as related neighborhood and family characteristics, such as exposure to violence and toxins, parental care and provision of a cognitively stimulating environment. (Hackman et Al, 2010) Research has shown that low socioeconomic status has a huge impact on mental health in children and adolescents, primarily due to the associated stress and effects related to poverty. There are three primary factors or levels through which poverty affects children/adolescents: individual, relational, and institutional. The first of these levels, individual factors, are the factors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We then define the concept of IT infrastructure flexibility and its relationship to strategic IT business alignment and to applications implementation in the organization. Information Technology Infrastructure The topic of IT infrastructure has been a key issue for both researchers and practicing managers for some time [see e.g., Brancheau, Janz, Wetherbe, 1996]. The organization s IT infrastructure basically integrates technology components to support business needs but the IT infrastructure concept is more complicated. The definition of IT infrastructure encompasses a variety of components. Based on previous studies, Duncan [1995] stated that IT infrastructure includes a group of shared, tangible IT resources that provide a foundation to enable present and future business applications [Broadbent Weill, 1997; Davenport Linder, 1994; Earl, 1989; Keen, 1991; McKay Brockway, 1989; Niederman, Brancheau, Wetherbe, 1991; Weill, 1993]. These resources include: (1) computer hardware and software (e.g., operating systems); (2) network and telecommunications technologies; (3) key data; (4)

Introduction Politics have been important throughout history, but in the last century, government has changed a large amount. With the rise of the standard of living in first world nations, there has been a push to help bring everyone in the world up to a minimum standard. There have been many perspectives taken on the issue, and there are many articles for helping and against helping developing nations shown through political and historical lenses. A key question is how much aid wealthy nations should provide for developing nations, and how to provide it. Two articles considered this question. Bandow argues through many perspectives in the political lens, creating a blending of voices that makes his argument to have less government in developing nations more effective than if he relied on one perspective alone. Article #2 The other article, Why developing countries get stuck with weak institutions and how foreign actors can help by Brad Parks, Mark Buntaine, and Benjamin Butch argues that the incentives given by donors only change cosmetic functions of the institution, rather than changing actual results. An example is providing aid to improve staffing in an organization to have people with better qualifications , but not dealing with the corruption in the rest of country, so better qualified people still can t make things better. Rewarding countries for doing things that are just cosmetic doesn t accomplish anything, but often gets the reward of more aid. This group wants more change in the regimes of developing nations, which would lead to actual development. The current system leads to stagnation of developing countries. The countries put large amount of effort into achieving cosmetic goals to get the next financial quota, but they are so poor they can t or won t do the harder steps to achieve real results. They just go for the cheaper option. This was a well crafted argument, but only having a single piece of evidence to back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gaining familiarity A multi physician owned primary ambulatory care practice and the board of directors seek to embark on implementing an EHR system that will enable the organization to meet the meaningful use requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The decision to embark on the project was mainly driven by the incentive program offered by the stage I of the HITECT/ARRA, and to provide the organization with the capability to streamline their registration, billing, and bedside documentation process. Recognized Symptoms The first step necessary to begin with the EHR implementation process is the assessment of the organization s readiness for an electronic system; these assessments will include the expectation of the organization regarding the proposed EHR system, the clinical goals of the practice, and the financial ramification of embarking on the EHR project. • 41. The Impact Of Air Bags On A Car Safety Device Impact Analysis of Air Bags Name : Kevin Agrawal ID. No 2013A4PS254G Details of the reference paper used : http://www nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pubs/806572.pdf Introduction An airbag is a vehicle safety device consisting of a flexible fabric bag, also known as an airbag cushion. The airbag module is designed to inflate rapidly then quickly deflate during a collision or impact with another object or a sudden deceleration. The purpose of the airbag is to provide occupant protection and restraint during a crash event. The introduction of the air bags dates back to 11th July 1984 when the United States government amended (FMVSS 208), to require cars produced after 1 April 1989 to be equipped with a passive restraint for the driver. Hence an airbag along with and seat belt would meet the requirements of the standard. The invention of the airbags is credited to the German engineer Walter Linderer and North American John W. Hetrick who in 1951 registered for the first airbag patents. The airbag cushions manufactured world wide are constructed with fabric made from nylon 6,6 yarn. Air bags are actually inflated by a solid rocket booster. Sodium azide (NaN3) and potassium nitrate (KNO3) react very quickly to produce a large pulse of hot nitrogen gas. This gas inflates the bag, which literally bursts out of the steering wheel or dashboard as it expands. Airbags need to inflate at an extremely fast rate in order to be fully inflated by the time a person s body begins to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teachers can encourage students to be metacognitive while reading by modeling, giving the students a question to answer while listening to a text, or simply asking the students to predict the next event. There are several ways to encourage students to use metacognitive thinking during reading. However, I believe that one of the most effective ways of sparking this form of thinking is by giving the students the option to read texts that spark their interests. Allowing this text freedom would motivate them to question what they are reading, and that is the essence of being a metacognitive reader. 2. How would you respond to critics who feel that class time is wasted with independent reading? My response to a statement such as this would be that in the elementary grades it is NEEDED. What one may view as the children wasting time is indispensable to the child s reading development. The best statement that defends this argument was phrased flawlessly by famous teacher, author, and musical artist Dr. Jean. It looks like I m playing, but I m developing alphabet knowledge, oral language, print knowledge, listening skills, eye hand coordination, concepts about the world, and the desire to read. Sealed Air could either launch the product worldwide or in selected locations or consider the option of not entering the uncoated bubble packaging market at all. More specifically, Sealed Air must be cognizant of their widely respected brand of high quality and superior performance coated bubble packages. With the potential launch of an uncoated bubble packaging product, Sealed Air risks diluting their brand value, particularly in the quality and performance conscious US market. • 44. U.s. Foreign Policy Approaches The United States (U.S.) uses two approaches to their foreign policy. The first approach is realism. This viewpoint stresses that the principal actors, states, will pursue their own interests in an anarchical world. States will try to establish a balance of power that restrains aggressive states from dominating weaker ones. The second approach is idealism. This view stresses that states should transform the system into a new international order where peace can prevail. This approach emphases the spread of democracy across the world and the creation of international institutions. Realism and idealism provides an explanation to how U.S. foreign policy has developed since World War Two (WWII), identifies which influential factors play a role in both foreign policy approaches, and determines which view has best served the pursuit of national interests. The realist and idealist approaches are important in explaining the swinging pendulum path American foreign policy took since WWII. Over the past seventy years, U.S. foreign policy switches between these two approaches. After WWII ended, idealistic U.S. policymakers believed that cooperation between the United States and Soviet Union would transform the world to a more cooperative and peaceful one. This idealistic belief was quickly demolished by the Soviet expansions in Turkey and Greece and the destruction of the hopes of U.S. Soviet cooperation after WWII. Ergot has been used for medical purposes since the late 1500s but was not acknowledged academically until the 1800s. Midwives used it to prevent excess bleeding during childbirth. It was not used for long because it caused uterine spasms and dangers to the child. In the early 1900s, W. A. Jacobs and L.C. These words of Horace are timeless and apply to almost all aspects of the human life. Horace emphasizes to the audience that the bad times bring out the best in people, which would have gone unnoticed if the times were solely flourishing. It truly takes treacherous conditions in order for someone s character to be genuinely expressed. Sometimes this instinct happens naturally and goes unnoticed, or they happen deliberately. The manner in which mortals act during these situations are what builds their character to its true extent. Adversity and talent coincide with each other in order to create life changing opportunities.
