Execution and Results in a Crisis Situation
1. In the Kirkpatrick and Shane article, several leaders are mentioned including President George
W. Bush, Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, and FEMA Director Michael D. Brown.
Briefly evaluate each of these leaders on their overall effectiveness at Managing Execution and
Driving for Results.
Manage Execution is the way for a manager to designate, cooperate, monitor, and keep up the
assignment (Quinn, 2007). Drive for results is the way to achieve the goal with others and through

A dependence grows between employee and leader in which the employee has grown
accustomed to the leader giving orders and directions, and makes every effort to follow such
guidance to the letter. This dependence does not bode well in situations of high stress and
shortened reaction times. As General HonorГ© stated, the first part of the leader s job is to set
people on the right path ( A Military General s Leadership Lessons, 2009). This happens when the
leader gives the initial order. In this case, it was to evacuate the people out of harms way. The plan
was then laid out for the authorities to execute.
What happened, was that the dependance the authorities placed on the plan of execution did not
allow themselves to modify the plan of execution when the situation changed. The leaders were
bossing the authorities around in such a manner that the right path and desired end result were
forgotten. When this occurs, and the execution loses all forward motion because the initial plan is
not being followed to the letter, the leaders who were barking orders have to devide their time up
between coming up with a new plan and then desiminating it to the proper authorities. A leader who
motivates the execution, works WITH the execution. In order to motivate, a leader needs to be
involved with those he or she plans to motivate. By involving themselves with the execution, they

Steroid Use In Sports
I am against them having drugs in sports. This has been a big problem for awhile, and it causes the
body to gain more strength where it is injected. It s not fair when people use drugs in sports
because think about it if someone that isn t using the drug vs. someone that is, that isn t fair
because the guy using the drugwould most likely win.
Also, a lot of smaller football players like to watch bigger people play and it wouldn t set a good
example for them and so they might try it. Also, drugs like steroids have a negative effect on long
term health because even though it helps you in the sport later it will come back and hurt you in
the future.
Plus, it just ruins the fun and joy of the game because then people that are using the drug might

Child Labour Essay
Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part or full time
basis. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental
development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the
important causes of child labour in India.
The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at
12.6 million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a
hazardous job. UNICEF estimates that India with its larger population has the highest number of
labourers in the world less than 14 years of age, while sub Saharan African countries have the
highest percentage of children who are deployed as child labour. International Labour Organisation
estimates that agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of child labour in India, while
United Nation s Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour is deployed in
agriculture and related activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is observed in almost all
informal sectors of the Indian economy.
Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for child labour in
their products. The companies claim they have strict policies against selling products made by
underage kids, but there are many links in a supply chain making it difficult to police them all. In
2011, after three years of Primark s effort, BBC

The Prohibition Of The Nineteenth Amendment
The prohibition movement was highly successful in achieving government recognition of the
eighteenth amendment yet failed to gain public support. The volstead act of 1919 allowed for the
implementation of the Eighteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which established National
Prohibition of alcoholic beverages and defined intoxicating drinks as those with an alcohol content
of 0.5 percent by volume of more. From This banned the manufacture, sale, transportation and
importation of alcoholic beverages. though neither the amendment nor the law specifically
outlawed the drinking of alcohol. As a result this had ramifications in regard to the personal
consumption of illicit substances. Though it was illegal to store alcohol in non... Show more content

However not all the shooting incidents were justified and innocent and unarmed civilians were
also sometimes killed as they had been mistaken for bootleggers. Activists Jane Addams wrote in
the 1929 issue of Survey Graphic that What the prohibition situation needs, first of all, is
disarmaments.... The federal agents should be taught some other methods than those of a gunmen
. Enforcement efforts were also hampered as the government failed to allocate subsequent funding
. Consequently States put in little to no money in enforcement. Statistics show that in 1927, the
forty eight states combines spent about $548000 in combating alcohol trafficking. If
enforcement agencies were to make an impact on denting the illegal alcohol trade they would of
needed more funding. Not all agent s were faithful to the prohibition laws as ten days after
prohibition had taken place, two chicago police officers were charged with accepting bribes from
a bootlegger. The Prohibition Bureau records reveal that between 1920 and 1931, almost 9% of
agents were dismissed from corrupt practices. Though it s believed many more agents had been
corrupted and never found out. The Corruption also extended to powerful officials such as William
McConnell who served as Prohibition director for the state of Pennsylvania. in 1921 the U.S.
attorney found over four million dollars worth of slush funds used to bribe various prohibition
agents. Another corrupt

Memory Pattern Essay
Memory, symbol, and pattern affect the reading of literature by enhancing, foreshadowing, and
helping readers look more in the depth of literature. Memory allows readers to compare texts and
connect more to literature. Symbols can analyze a deeper meaning to something. While a pattern
can foreshadow the main event that can occur later on. The recognition of patterns makes it
easier to read complicated literature because it can help readers analyze and understand conflicts
and plots well since they have already seen the pattern. Memories of certain events can lead to a
deeper understanding of literature. As you read all types of unalike literature you will start to see
recurrences of what you have read already in the past. When readers... Show more content on

Symbols are not only objects and images, they can also be events and action. They help readers
create and picture scenes in their minds. In some works of literature an example of symbol
would be water which can symbolize many things such as purity, fertility or death. In this case,
it symbolizes rebirth. A text from How To Read Literature Like A Professor on page 163 reads,
See this in symbolic terms. A young man sails away from his known world, dies out of one
existence, and comes back a new person, hence is reborn. Symbolically, that s the same pattern we
see in baptism: death and rebirth through the medium of water, where his old identity dies with his
older brother . A symbol s meaning can go through a further range of more meanings than just one.
Just like patterns, some symbols can interlock with each other and create a bigger picture. To begin
with, patterns are similar to symbols, they occur to reveal the bigger picture. Seeing patterns in a
work of literature can help readers understand the relationships between characters, actions, and
ideas. Patterns are a big hint to an upcoming event or a foreshadow to the main plot. Reading
literature with numerous patterns could lead the reader to the more important and good stuff such
as the theme or the plot of the text. Therefore patterns, just as a memory, and symbols are the key to
understanding

Women s Influence On Society
In the Later Middle Ages in Europe, power was one of the main drives on society. The limited
amount of people who had power in society gained it through religious or governmental
affiliation. Since the church and the christian faith was the main aspect of, generally, everyone s
lives during that time, those who held religious powers played important roles in society.
However, power was not even among the different genders of society. In a male dominated
society, women scarcely could have power in society. Women could primary receive power
through some type of religious affiliation, but could not hold powers in the government.
Nonetheless, they were able to influence society through the little power that they did have. Their
power derived from the prestige of being a religious leader. Nonetheless, the little power women
had was often questioned by men. Source documents 11 5, 11 6, and 12 5 explore women in
society during these times. Although similar in being in the time period of the middle ages, each
document also has characteristic differences about women during that time. In her Letter to
Gregory XI, Catherine of Siena uses her status as a nun to influence the main political and religious
issue of that time. She wrote to PopeGregory XI urging him to relocate the religious capital from
Avignon back to its original location in Rome. Previously, Pope Clement V had relocated the capital
to Avignon for secular reason. After the relocation, the succeeding popes

Is Bilingualism Harmful
The term bilingualism refers to the ability of knowing and delivering more than one language.
Throughout the years society has evolved and developed in such a way that the majority of the
world is now multilingual. Once a up on a time bilingualism was considered harmful to one s
development and IQ. This happened at the beginning of the century, haw ever since then we have
conducted numerous researches studies that proves this wrong. Today bilingualism is often seen as
a brain sharpening benefit, a condition that can protect and preserve cognitive function well into
old age. Due to the mixture of culture people are now exposed to a variety of languages from
which they benefit in different ways. Not only that they learn from each other the languagebut they

Dallaire Discontent With The United Nations
Before UNAMIR had been launched there was a lack of information surrounding Rwanda. In a
precursor to the mission, Dallaire looked for intelligence regarding the small landlocked country in
Africa, what he could find came from newspaper accounts, and scholarly articles. He learned of the
social and political climate, which stemmed from an ethnic divide between the Hutus and Tutsis.
This was the only information Dallaire along with Brent Beardsley had gathered, it was not until
they met with Isoa Tikoka, a United Nations military observer who had been at the Arusha peace
agreement negotiations, that they learned of his existence and could have used his help to gather
more insightful and current information. Information regarding the state... Show more content on

In the book, Dallaire voices his discontent with the United Nations, especially for the lack of action
taken by the Security Council. The mission was commanded from an understaffed and under
funded headquarters in New York, the DPKO. There were concerns regarding the need for soldiers
and United Nations personnel that could be used to help maintain peace throughout the mission.
The troops that were enlisted for the mission were to assist in ensuring the security of the capital
city of Kigali; monitor the ceasefire agreement, the establishment of an expanded demilitarized
zone (DMZ), and demobilization procedures, and monitor the security situation during the final
period of the transitional Government s mandate leading up to elections; and assist with mine
clearance. The mission would also provide security for the repatriation of Rwandese refugees and
displaced persons by assisting in humanitarian assistance and relief operations. Initially, Dallaire
requested 5,500 men for the mission however; he was only allocated approximately 2,600 to use.
Many of the 2,600 were underqualified, coming for several developing nations who took directions
from their own officers rather than Dallaire. No nation would readily contribute to a mission in a
country where there were no strategic national or, international interests and no major threats to
international peace and security. There were only 2,538 UNAMIR military personnel on the

Essay on Creon as the Tragic Hero in Sophocles Antigone
Creon as the Tragic Hero in Antigone
This essay will compare two of the characters in Antigone , Antigone and Creon, in an effort to
determine the identity of the tragic hero in this tale.
To identify the tragic hero in Sophocles renowned play Antigone , we should first consider both
the elements present in Greek tragedies and what characteristics define a tragic hero. Aristotle s
definition of tragedy is: Tragedy is a story taking the hero from happiness to misery because of a
fatal flaw or mistake on his part. To be a true tragic herohe must also elicit a strong emotional
response of pity and fear from the audience. This is known as catharsis or purging of emotion. In
most cases the tragic hero begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This illustrates that although she begins the play in misery she continues to suffer throughout the
play.
Antigone has a possible flaw in that she is too stubborn and persistent to obey Creon s order; I
know my duty, where true duty lies (Antigone, 128). Her punishment then encourages feelings of
pity from the audience because her deed was honorable and respectful towards her brother
Polynices. The chorus supports this view by bidding her a respectful farewell when she is taken
away, But glory and praise go with you lady (Antigone, 148). Antigone is also very proud, and this
may have contributed to her death. Even when she is caught she remains strong and defends
herself by claiming that the chorus thinks that her act was honorable, All these would say that what
I did was honorable (Antigone, 139). This causes Creon to remain angry with Antigone, you are
wrong, none of my subjects think as you do (Antigone, 140). If she had been more patient and less
defensive, Creon may not have been as harsh in the punishment he set for her.
Creon, who received the throne after the banishment of Oedipus, begins Antigone with high status
as the king of Thebes. He is fortunate to be honored as Thebes appointed king during her triumph
over the army of Polynices, Creon, son of Menoeceus, Whom the gods have appointed for us in our
recent change of fortune (Antigone, 130).

The Pros And Cons Of Social Contract
Social contract denotes that a government or sovereign body exists only to serve the will of the
people because the people are the source of political power that is enjoyed by the entity. The
people can choose to give or withdraw the power. Not all philosophers agree that the social contract
creates rights and obligations; on the contrary, some believe that the social contractimposes
restrictions that restrict a person s natural rights. Individuals who live within the society gain
protection by the governmentfrom others who may pursue to cause them injury, in exchange, the
citizens, must relinquish individual liberties like the capability to commit wrongdoings without
being reprimanded, and they should contribute to making society... Show more content on

Hobbes believed that in nature people had to do whatever was necessary to survive and that
even if living together, people were still likely to fight. His view of people was dark and most
likely due to the horrors of a series of political schemes and armed conflicts he had seen during
the English Civil War. He believed that a contract was necessary. Hobbes felt that people were
not capable of living in a democratic society. Instead, a single dominant ruler was needed, and if
everyone did their part, then the community would function smoothly. Hobbes theory is unlike
Locke and Rousseau s. He believed that once the people gave power to the government, the people
gave up the right to that power. It would essentially be the cost of the safety the people were
seeking.
John Locke argues that people deserve life, liberty, and property which are all an essential part of
the social contract. The government needs to guard individuals lives and safeguard the freedom of
prosperity and impose laws that are structured to reward efforts which improve society
economically. Locke s Contractual Theory of Government says that people must willingly do
things like pay taxes and serve in the military, but in return, the government had to listen to their
desires and provide for their needs. John Locke s philosophy is one that we are all familiar with
because his ideas were used in our Constitution by our founding fathers. According to the United
States Senate, We the

Skim boarding has been around for a long time dating back to the year 1920s mainly in Laguna

Furthermore the whole world developed interest in this sport and not only a particular section of
people. Also the boards that people manufactured themselves were not in good shape and size, this
lead to people not being able to control their board. But in the 1970s a man named Tex Haines

The Same Sex Marriage Debate
A Paper to End The Same Sex Marriage Debate
The topic of same sex marriage has been heavily debated for the past decade. Discussions
continue whether a marriage is between two people who are in love and agree to spend the rest
of their lives together regardless of their sex or if it is reserved for only heterosexuals. Since the
beginning of The Gay Rights Movement in the early nineteenth century, groundbreaking
developments have come to the surface, presenting strong arguments on both sides of this topic.
Currently, there are 1.2 million homosexual people living with a same sex partner in America
(Rex). These individuals are not being treated as equals and stripped of their rights because of the
person and/or gender they love. Because I believe in equality of all people and that marriage is
sacred bond between two people who share an intimate relationship with each other, I believe same
sex marriage should be legal in all states.
Same sex marriage is an important topic to discuss because of the treatment these individuals are
receiving. Religious and personal opinions are clouding the judgment of material fact, both of
which contribute to this controversial issue. However, there is nothing controversial about
equality. The legalization of same sex marriage would benefit society because it would also allow
for homosexual couples to receive the same rights as a heterosexual couple. If same sex marriage
were legalized, a marriage certificate issued to married partners would

The Postal System As A Method Of Communication
There are three separate theories available which can be identified that could be used to confirm
that an enforceable agreement has been reached between parties using the postal system as a
method of communication. These are, the information theory, whereby the offeror notifies the
offeree that the letter of acceptance has been received. The receipt theory, which assumes a
contract has been created on the receipt of a letter of acceptance and the dispatch theory, known
also as the postal rule which confirms that a contract has been entered into at the point in time that
the letter of acceptance is posted. Clearly, it is essential that when contracts are created using the
postal system as a means of communication it must possible to determine at what point the
agreement becomes legally enforceable. When using the postal system there is an inevitable risk
that communications could be lost or delayed which, but for the postal rule would create
uncertainty for the party who is providing acceptance of the offer. Therefore, unless the offeror
had prescribed a specific or alternative method of communication it is the dispatch theory that is
applied in English contract law regarding the acceptance of agreements that are made using the
postal system, this confirms certainty in the mind of the offeree. This rule became established in
English contract law as the result of the decision made in Adams v Lindsell (1818) 106 ER 250.
This was subsequently confirmed in The

The Worst Sort Of Husband By Daniel Defoe
The Worst Sort of Husband Daniel Defoe
The Worst Sort of Husband by Daniel Defoe was written to explain the different types of husbands
women deal with and their personalities. This analysis goes in depth on how diverse husbands can
be. There are five different husbands described in the analysis: the Drunken Husband, the
Debauched Husband, the Fighting Husband, and the Extravagant Husband. Each husband
described was a male s point of view of men for a sober woman s knowledge on who she wants to
marry. The author, Daniel Defoe was an English writer that lived in the 1700s. Daniel Defoe did
not always have this name because he changed his name to something that he personally thought
was professional. Defoe wanted his name to sound more like a gentleman s name and that is the
name he chose. Defoe was a very famous writer in the 1700s in London, England and was
acknowledged by all his written work. Personally, I believe Daniel Defoe wrote this article out of

Communication And Parenting
What is communication? How does communicating relate to parenting?
Communication is when words or conversations are exchanged by more than two person that are
able to get a mutual understanding. Communicating relates to parenting because when a parent
talks to their child, the child is able to respond, and express about how they feel and such.
Communicating can either be through actions or verbal.
How can financial issues affect parenting?
Financial issues can affect parenting because since they are not financially stable, they may need to
work multiple jobs which means they have less time to spend with their child. Spending less time
with a child, can cause a parent and the child to not form a strong relationship since they re never
present.

Risk Identification Is An Underdeveloped Art
Risk identification is an underdeveloped art Discuss and include an overview of risk identification
aids and techniques in your answer.
Introduction:
Risk is a vital necessity in which both change and innovation occur and in an everlasting
developing economy businesses must change, adapt, and innovate in either or service or goods.
However, like art, risk takes time and effort in calculating and producing a meaningful quantity
out of in which you have to take the probability of a bad scenario occurring and also the amount
of damage that it will create to the firm. However saying this risk depends a lot on the type of
person you are if you are risk averse or not, people who are risk averse tend to go away from risk,
however, this may cause a loss of opportunity in which the firm could have created a good profit.
On the other hand if someone is too risk driven then that also could be very harmful to the business.
It is clear that it is in fact very hard to identify when risks should and should not be taken, thinking
of the word undeveloped risk is something that has always been thought of, however, when did
people start actually start feeling the impact of risk, mainly during the 2007 economic crash that
was due to people taking too much risk with the mortgages market in which due to the amount of
money they were profiting from moral hazard and adverse selection came into play and mortgages
were basically being handed out even to people who should not have had the

The Crucible And The Red Scare Analysis
Have you ever been accused of something? So to keep from getting into deep trouble you
quickly exclaim you saw so and so do this . Suddenly, you re put on a back burner, as this new
evidence is looked into. This is what happened back in the 1940 s. People in the U.S. were scared
by Joseph McCarthy on the sudden rise in communismin other areas of the world, the closest being
the Soviet Union. The Scare inspired Arthur Miller to write his play. The Crucible is an allegory
for the Red Scare. Arthur Miller wrote the play to show people that the craziness of the witch hunts
were extremely similar to the communist hunts, and to show the dangers of being quick to accuse
others to avoid consequences.
Fear can be a person s strongest, or weakest, part of how we react to things considered
threatening. McCarthy used people s fear to gain power, he gained a lot by claiming that people
in high government positions were conversing with a formidable enemy. In one of his speeches,
McCarthy held up a piece of paper, claiming it listed 224 names of Americans that had ties with
communists. Although this list was never shown to anyone but McCarthy, no one tried to get the
accused people freed from their charges of treason. The reason for this was that anyone who
questioned the truth, or anyone who knew the truth and tried to get it public, was accused of
communism and taken care of . (spartacus education) The fear and accusations McCarthy put on

The Struggle of Women in Maquiladoras
The Struggle of Women in Maquiladoras Over the years, women have been key participants in the
work force, labor unions, and strikes. Recently, women have taken part in organizing the labor in
the maquiladoras in Mexico. The duty free assembly plants located on the U.S./Mexican border,
known as maquiladoras, have threatened and abused their workers and repeatedly ignored the labor
laws. Women have begun to take a stand and fightfor their rights as well as for their fellow workers.
First, it is best to explore the origin and function of the maquiladora in the economy. Mexico s
Border Industrialization Program of 1966 first established the maquiladoras. The plants must

The average salary of around $50 per week is not nearly enough to support a family. These workers
are often unaware of their rights under Mexico s labor law, and therefore change is slow to come.
Low wages and grueling shifts are only the beginning of the hazardous working conditions that
the maquiladora workers are exposed to. Industrial accidents and toxic exposures are common in
the plants. Often workers are not given adequate training or provided with safety equipment.
Physical risks such as noise, heat, vibrations, poor ventilation, and awkward posture have a high
occurrence in maquiladoras. More and more, we are being forced to comply with extreme
production quotas. Then they don t provide us with glasses and masks to protect our eyes and
throats from the dust. In addition, some managers and supervisors harass us sexually. They try to
intimidate men and women who protest against these conditions, said Paty Leyva, a worker at
Corrizo manufacturing, a Mexican subtractor for the U.S. apparel industry (Fair). Paty was one of
four maquiladora workers who met with members of Congress to reveal the conditions of their

Economics Assignment Opportunity Cost Lets start with a small introduction to the topic
Opportunity Cost. Opportunity cost is the cost of any activity measured in terms of the value of
the next best alternative forgone (that is not chosen). It is the sacrifice related to the second best
choice available to someone, or group, who has picked among several mutually exclusive choices.
The opportunity cost is also the cost (as a lost benefit) of the forgone products after making a

basic relationship between scarcity and choice . The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explicit costs are opportunity costs that involve direct monetary payment by producers. The
opportunity cost of the factors of production not already owned by a producer is the price that the
producer has to pay for them. For instance, a firm spends $100 on electrical power consumed,
their opportunity cost is $100. The firm has sacrificed $100, which could have been spent on other
factors of production. Now lets look at some real life examples from my life inorder to understand
Opportunity Costs better.
Opportunity Cost Examples that I myself have been across I have only Rs 1000 to spend and I
have two choices, I can eat at a nice restaurant or buy a good cricket bat instead. I spend my Rs
1000 on buying the cricket bat, then the opportunity cost of that choice is the delicious meal I did
not choose and let go.
Opportunity Cost also works in regards to time. Eg I only have two hours of free time. I could
either go to a movie or meet a friend of mine. I choose to spend my time at the movie, the
opportunity cost of this decision is the time I could have spent enjoying the company of my friend.
Here s another example When for the first time I decided to invest my saved money lying with
me.I had two options that I could do with the money I had. My first choice was either investing in
Mutual Funds or leave the money in a Savings Account that earns only 5% per year. I invested

Looking up at the grey night sky, John Jhonerston grimly pondered about existence as he

after a couple of minutes of enduring the strong wind and acidic snow. After stepping in, he
smelled of burnt leather and wool. John proceeded to check himself in a two way mirror usually
used for shake downs and inspections, and he noticed that the outer layer of the back of his
leather trench jacket was discolored from the acidic snow. He immediately saw some more
snowflakes resting on his shoulders, slowly eating away at the leather; John wiped the snow off

The VTX works like the pump pushing waves of electricity through the antenna. Without an
antenna, there s nowhere for the waves to go, so they bounce back, creating greater and greater
wave harmonics that overload the amplifier of the VTX. With so much current flowing through, the
circuit heats up. Eventually, this much current can create so much heat that the chemical bonds in
the copper vaporize, blowing the VTX and creating an open circuit that stops energy flow

Euphemism Treadmill Cycle
Political correct language limits the use of offensive terms that promote conscious thinking about
how people stereotype one another. Politically incorrect language is demanding to many racial
groups such as Native Americans who are mocked through the Washington Redskins . Those with
special needs have also been affected by politically incorrectness because they feel out of place
when being referred to as mentally retarded. This process is called the Euphemism Treadmill
cycle. Euphemism Treadmill is a process that describes the cycle of discarded dysphemisms, used
as a word replacement strategy . In order for America to stay the greatest nation we must eliminate
political incorrectness in our everyday society. Political incorrect languagelies within the National

Jack Shakely asked the question In 21st century America, to name a sports team after an African

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Corporations Using Debt To...
Expanding globally can be very lucrative for a corporation, however it is very risky as well. To,
have a smooth transition when expanding globally, a corporation is going to require capital. When
looking to raise capital, corporations have several options to choose from. One of the most
common options to raise capital that corporations have is debtfinancing. Debt financing is when a
corporation sells bonds, bills, and notes to individuals. (Investopedia) Another form is equity
financing, which allows corporations to raise capital by the sale of shares. (Investopedia) In this
assignment, I will be discussing the advantages and disadvantages of corporations using debt to
gain capital. First, I will discuss the advantages of corporations using debt to gain capital. The
first and obvious advantage of debt financing is having the funds that are necessary to purchase
new buildings, equipment, and assets that are needed for the expansion of the FedEx
corporation. When a corporation decides to use debt financing to gain capital, the lender has no
say in the way the corporation is being managed. The management team gets to make all the
decisions on the behalf of the corporation. The lender is not involved in any of the planning of
the corporation and is no longer needed once the corporation pays the debt in full. Also, the
company will be able to have a tax advantage as well. The money that the corporation will be

Woodlice are nocturnal and are classified as primary decomposers, feeding on organic materials
such as bark, leaves, dead plant and animal matter and hardwood, decomposing the debris into
soil which is vital for the ecosystem (Nardi 2009, Poole 1994 amp; CapineraI 2010). Woodlice
can also be classified as secondary decomposers as they feed on their own faeces to replenish the
copper containing oxygen absorbing pigment lost when they defecate. Urine is also recycled in
the water conducting channels along with water that is taken up from the environment, the
ammonia of the urine evaporates and from the remaining water in the water conducting channels
oxygen is absorbed by pleopods (Nardi 2009). Daphnia, also known as water fleas, are small
crustaceans about 1mm 5mm long and are part of the freshwater zooplankton (Ebert 2005,
Hutchinson 2005 amp; Clifford 1991). Daphnia can be found in most fresh water habitats such as
freshwater springs, ponds and reservoirs and are the predominant food for planktivorous fish.
Dapnia are filter feeders meaning they feed on small particles suspended in the water which can
include algae. It has been found that daphnia tend to migrate to the upper parts of the water at night
and return to the lower parts of the water in the day to hide from predators (Ebert 2005)
(Hutchinson 2005). Daphnia can reproduce through sexual reproduction and also asexual

High School And College Students
Most high school and college students are required to take an art course in order to graduate.
However this idea should be forced because not all majors have something to do with art; for
example, a doctor, lawyer, math teacher, etc. don t need any type of art in order to accomplish
what they want to do. Instead they should skip the art course of get an additional class that will
help them with their future career. Some people that don t have any interest in art may find the
art course difficult because they are interested in it and therefore won t put as much effort than
does who are interested. The Goals 2000 Educate America Act was passed in 1994 and in
declared that all schools should teach arts programs.(Fran Smith). However, this regulation
shouldn t have been done because, there may be some students really interested in art and looking
forward for a career in any type of arts and the rest of the students that aren t as interested as the
others would distract the students and not allow them to acknowledge what they are suppose to
learn. The numbers for musical courses has dropped about 46% from 1999 2000 through 2000
2004. (Fran Smith) This means that students are not into arts and students are focusing in other
courses or subjects instead of art courses. So why should a student take a class that would not
benefit them? Why make them study for something useless to them? Why not give them a class
related to their major? Some students either in college or high

The Consequences Of Over Investment
The consequences of over investment appear and the economy starts manifesting over heating
symptoms. New tonnage begins to come into the shipping market when the wider economy has
reached its peak. Ship owners are not concerned about this because as far as they have been
observing, the prosperity phase is getting better and better so they expect that it will continue on
this upward trend. Then the recession hits and shippers become less willing to commit to long term
charter parties and take advantage of declining freight rates on the sport market. There is
competition as new tonnage enters the declining market between shipowners who try to grab hold
of declining fixtures accepting lower freight rates than they had originally anticipated when the
decision was made to order new vessels. A downturn in the economy resulted in a decrease in the
demand for shipping and tonnage when supply is now inflated. There is a downward trajectory
now and as freight rates and asset values decrease shippers hold back in anticipation of a
depression and non shipping banks begin to pull out as they lack the experience of such a volatile
market.
Now ship arrive on the market, years after they have been ordered and the process now reversed.
Increased supply leads as the demand for shipping decreases freight rates fall. Decreasing freight
rates squeeze the cash inflow now as investors begin paying for their new vessels. The shipping
market crashes as investors only pay, if they can only the

In Macbeth, William Shakespeare writes this passage in order to shape the character of Lady

Up to the point where this quote leaves off, we have not heard much of Lady Macbeth. When she

husband s newly attained power. It is evident that the first impression of Lady Macbeth is negative.

Finally, in the last and most significant part of the sentence Lady Macbeth says, unsex me here.
In context, she wants the spirits to come and take away her soft, feminine characteristics. She
feels that her husband is too nice to get the greatness he is promised, and the only way he can
succeed is if she helps him. From what we have seen, Lady Macbeth seems to be the man of the
house. She is willing to do anything that is necessary in order for her to be queen, including
murder. She is also quite smart, she knows that her husband tends to be passive, and is not about to
give up on him now. In the first half of the novel, Lady Macbeth is the brain behind the operation.
She not only provides the actual plan, but encourages her husband as well. During the period the
novel was written, women were considered to be submissive. However in her case, she is so
influential that Macbeth is even persuaded by her.

Essay on Multimedia The Wide Spectrum
Multimedia The Wide Spectrum In this paper, I will endeavor to provide you with a basic
overview as to what multimedia consists of. I will also delve into the visual aspect in the wide
spectrum of multimedia to show what it consists of and for a better understanding as to how it fits
in.
Multimedia first began with games but Web pages, interactive courses, and catalogs with sound
and video have now dominated the stage. Not long ago, the term multimedia referred to a room full
of slide projectors, tape decks, and movie projectors. Multimedia presentations were hard to put
together and even harder to run. Many of them took weeks of preparation and they were then
shown only once (Curtin 217). The computer has changed all of ... Show more content on

There is no question that multimedia can improve the quality of games and this is shown through
such creations as Playstation. In the end, it is that very game like quality that can enhance a
learning experience. Parents watching their children play innovative games see how powerful
multimedia is at teaching them how to read or solve math problems even thought the children
perceive the experience as just a game. Building on the power of this perception, innovators have
increasingly used multimedia to support all kinds of activities that are not just games ( Partial
Project List ).
As computer applications programs become more complex, software publishers are building
multimedia presentations into their programs to introduce new features and walk the user through
them. In companies, this form of presentation will take a big load off the overworked technical
support staff (Curtin 218). For individuals at home or in small businesses, it will make programs
easier to learn and use.
Multimedia is extensively used for education and training in schools, businesses, and the home.
Education that implements multimedia allows you to proceed at your own pace. It changes the
boring presentations (to say the least) of the past and makes it easy to be attentive with the help of
sounds, movies, animations, and interactivity (Hajick).

Deity dying and later being brought back to life, flood stories such as the story of Noah, and
myths about great heroes of past, paradises, and self sacrifice.
Old Testament
Every cites the creation account in Genesis 1 and 2 and the story of Eve s temptation. Many
Christians believe that parts of the Bible were either symbolic and/or metaphorical.
In the Book of Genesis 6:1 4, speaks of an old legend that had borrowed much from ancient
mythology, with the sons of God being considered, the celestial beings of mythology. The
American Bible also tells the story that in Psalm 93 refers to an ancient myth in which God battles
a personified Sea.
According to Howard Schwartz, following the story in Isaiah 14:12, he compares King of
Babylonia with Lucifer, the Devil and the ancient Canaanite myth of Athtar, both of which thought
to be the bright morning star, only to be forced to descend and rule the underworld instead.

Rate Law Lab
The objective of this experiment was to determine the rate law for a chemical reaction between
crystal violet and hydroxide. A rate law is a part of kinetics, which is the study of how fast
reactions occur and how to control the rate of a reaction (4). The rate law is be determined by
measuring and graphing the absorbance of reactants during the reaction. The reaction was first
order with respect to crystal violet (CV+) and hydroxide (OH ). Since crystal violet is in much
smaller concentration than hydroxide, the experiment captured the reaction rateand order of crystal
violet while the order of OH was calculated post lab using the pseudo first order method (eqn
1,2,3). The rate law for CV++OH CVOHis Rate = 0.1644m 1s 1[CV+][OH ].
Introduction
Kinetics is the study of how fast reactions occur and how to control that rate. The rate of a
reaction is defined by the change in concentration of reactants and products over time (4). The rate
law for this reaction is Rate = k[CV+]m[OH ]n, where m is the order with respect to CV+, n is the
order with respect to OH , and k is the rate constant. Because the concentration of OH is so much
larger than the concentration of CV+, only [CV+] will change when significantly, which is why the
experiment only focuses on the change of concentration in crystal violet while the concentration ...

A rate law is a mathematical equation that describe the rate of a reaction. A reaction rate is the
change in concentration of reactants or products over time (3). A Vernier colorimeter was used to
measure the absorbance (or concentration) of CV+ when mixed with OH. The concentration of
CV+ generally decreased over time at a similar rate when mixed with 0.1M and 0.2M hydroxide.

The Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Gene
The Von Hippel Lindau (VHL) gene was first discovered as a tumor suppressor gene in 1993 by
Latif, et al. (1). The gene was identified in an attempt to determine the driver of tumorigenesis in
Von Hippel Lindau Disease. VHL disease is an autosomal dominant hereditary cancer syndrome that
is characterized by tumor and cyst formation throughout the body, with those infected especially
predisposed to hemangioblastomas of the central nervous system, eyes, pancreas, and kidney. Latif,
et al. were able to match the generegion to chromosome 3p.25 26 by positional cloning and
created a map of the region using pulsed field gel electrophoresis in order to isolate the prospective
genes. The DNAof 221 VHL patients was then probed using specified plasmids to determine that
there were 28 rearrangements present, with three large non overlapping deletions detected in the
hypothesized VHL gene segment. This sequence was conserved across different species, with
implications of its necessity for normal cellular function, pointing to its role as a tumor suppressor.
Since part of the sequence of the proteinproduct (pVHL) also matched (48%) to that of a surface
membrane protein sequence in Trypanosoma brucei, pVHL is thought to have some role in signal
transduction or cell adhesion as well.
The VHL gene itself is made of three exon segments located on chromosome 3p25. Patients with
VHL syndrome are heterozygotes of the VHL gene, with one allele that is a mutated or inactivated
copy of the

The Treatment Of The Mentality Of Hamlet And Prince Hamlet
Mental health disorders manifest through every part of the body altering the way a person is able
to function. The body reacts the way that the mind tells it to, and when the mind is corrupt
complications arise within the individuals causing potentially life altering diseases and impulsive
actions (Civil Rights Union, 2016). Hamlets erratic behaviors have proved that he has gone
completely mad. He has depression over his father s death, and his constant mentions of suicide.
He also has borderline personality disorder due to the ghost of his father visiting leaving stress,
and anxiety towards the task of killing his uncle for revenge, being the reason it took Hamlet so
long to complete this. We see his feelings of intense emotions of insanity, love, and shame
demonstrated and through this we are able to negate that something was wrong mentally. When
we first join Prince Hamlet in the play we see that his father King Hamlet has passed recently.
After King Hamlets passing, his wife Queen Gertrude has already been remarried to King Hamlet
s brother Claudius. Prince Hamlet has carried a deal of built up aggression around from these
events, because he feels like Claudius has brain washed his mother, just so that he can take the
thrown. Prince Hamlet also feels like his mother has betrayed his father, and the loss of his father
has been weighing heavily on his mind. As if these events haven t caused Prince Hamlet enough
traumatic stress, he ends up meeting his father in ghost

International Financial Reporting System ( Ifrs ) Rules...
This article introduces the International Financial Reporting System (IFRS) rules and practices, to
the Czech Republic. The IFRS is a financial reporting system was established in an attempt to
maintain stability throughout the financial community. Despite the conflicts with other countries
accounting systems, the IFRS attempts to organize one financial standard system for businesses to
report their financial statements. This article examines the relationship between domestic and
global standards of accounting. The concept of developing a modern accounting standard in the
Czech Republic, implies that most companies in that country are not willing to change their
accounting standards. Throughout the history of the Czech Republic s accounting standards,
companies were only obligated to maintain a uniform account and accounting charts for specific
sectors. The system only consisted of a balance sheetto summarize assets and liabilities, and an
income statement to recognize costs and revenues. The guidelines for each corporation relates to
the directives and regulations of the company s statistics, costing, budgeting and management of
stocks. Additionally, a separate accounting method was set up for companies cost accounting,
including inventory management, costs and benefits of internal segments, payroll, and the cost
accounting of various industries, commercial finance, foreign trade and non profit organizations.
Cost accounting was excluded by most companies, whereas

North Korean Political Prison Camps
The country of North Korea has long been under the watchful eye of not only the United States but
also the United Nations for many years over concerns of it nuclear weapons program but now, they
are being looked at for an entirely different reason. Recent reports about the inhuman treatment of
an estimated 200,000 North Korean citizens in the countries six political prison camps are been
closely looked at. These reports show the mistreatment, starvation, and even unlawful killing of
North Korean citizens from everything from owning a Bible to watching soap operas.
For the past year the United Nations has been conducting an investigation into the allegations of
many recent prisoners that were able to escape the prison camps and the country its self. Park
(2014) states The commission investigated issues regarding the right of food, prison camps, torture,
and inhuman treatment, arbitrary detention, discrimination, freedom of expression, the right to life,
freedom of movement, and enforced disappearances, including abductions of other citizens (para.
6). On February 17, 2014 the United Nations released a 400 page report on its finding during this
investigation. This report included sketches from many of the prisoners depicting the conditions
inside the camps. Corbin (2014) states The UN report castigated the Hermit Kingdom for it ruthless
treatment of people, depicting a brutal nation that does not have any parallel in the contemporary
world (para. 8). This is an

Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots
l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my
favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the
knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical
study of knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theoryin mathematics influenced and
shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as
tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are
joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can
be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional
Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knotis created by putting a flat circle into 3 D
space; therefore making it 3 D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder,
and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines,
thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common
method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways
a knot can be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must
determine when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does
exist to help solve the problem, but

Social Status In Jane Austen
Social status has always been very important, also in 21st century. Everyone has his own role in
society and social life. Hierarchy in 18th century England was almost everything. Status of one
person influenced the quality of life greatly. Social status and how the family functioned was very
important to women, especially young girls. Family social statusplayed a huge role in these young
girls life. If the girl s family was rich, it meant that she will marry a wealthy husband. People with
high status in society, were the ones with huge political power and great influences. Social status
has a huge impact on everyday life, it was decisive when it came to the school to attend, job to get,
person to marry, and also it decided how police and courts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Elizabeth is a girl from a with social status, when Mr Darcy is the one who has gold. As was said
earlier Mr. Darcy s pride and Elizabeth s prejudice leads them to beautiful love. Elizabeth is a very
intelligent young girl that reads lots of books, also she doesn t care what social status she has
got. As Austen said that she had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything
ridiculous (Austen 3.14). For her the most important thing in people is if they are good and
sincere. On the other hand Mr Darcy is just full of himself, it s almost like his pride is pouring
out of him. During the ball at the Meryton, the gentlemen pronounced him to be a fine figure of a
man, the ladies declared he was much handsomer than Mr. Bingley, and he was looked at with
great admiration for about half the evening (Austen 3.5). Probably that s why the young girl has
so much reserve towards his own person. Elizabeth dreams of someone who will accept her just
the way she is, she also doesn t want to get married to a wealthy man as her parents would like
their daughters to do. Even though the couple have two different social status, they are able to
become bound to each other. We are able to see how at first Elizabeth had huge prejudice
towards Mr Darcy, mostly because she thought of him as a bad man. When she visits him in his
own place she finds out that he is actually a good person. Their characters and attitudes towards
each other change quickly. From total rejection to the absolute love. When we look more closely
we may see that most of the prejudice in Mr Darcy s heart was connected with status of her
family. But when he realised how wonderful creature she is, he was able to overcome everything
just to be with her. The same was for Elizabeth, at first she was disapproving of his behaviour and
social class but in the end due to revealing his true self she strongly fell in love

A dependence grows between employee and leader in which the employee has grown accustomed to the leader giving orders and directions, and makes every effort to follow such guidance to the letter. This dependence does not bode well in situations of high stress and shortened reaction times. As General HonorГ© stated, the first part of the leader s job is to set people on the right path ( A Military General s Leadership Lessons, 2009). This happens when the leader gives the initial order. In this case, it was to evacuate the people out of harms way. The plan was then laid out for the authorities to execute. What happened, was that the dependance the authorities placed on the plan of execution did not allow themselves to modify the plan of execution when the situation changed. The leaders were bossing the authorities around in such a manner that the right path and desired end result were forgotten. When this occurs, and the execution loses all forward motion because the initial plan is not being followed to the letter, the leaders who were barking orders have to devide their time up between coming up with a new plan and then desiminating it to the proper authorities. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India. The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at 12.6 million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a hazardous job. UNICEF estimates that India with its larger population has the highest number of labourers in the world less than 14 years of age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of children who are deployed as child labour. International Labour Organisation estimates that agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of child labour in India, while United Nation s Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour is deployed in agriculture and related activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is observed in almost all informal sectors of the Indian economy. Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for child labour in their products. The companies claim they have strict policies against selling products made by underage kids, but there are many links in a supply chain making it difficult to police them all. Memory allows readers to compare texts and connect more to literature. Symbols can analyze a deeper meaning to something. While a pattern can foreshadow the main event that can occur later on. The recognition of patterns makes it easier to read complicated literature because it can help readers analyze and understand conflicts and plots well since they have already seen the pattern. In some works of literature an example of symbol would be water which can symbolize many things such as purity, fertility or death. In this case, it symbolizes rebirth. A text from How To Read Literature Like A Professor on page 163 reads, See this in symbolic terms. A young man sails away from his known world, dies out of one existence, and comes back a new person, hence is reborn. Symbolically, that s the same pattern we see in baptism: death and rebirth through the medium of water, where his old identity dies with his older brother . A symbol s meaning can go through a further range of more meanings than just one. Just like patterns, some symbols can interlock with each other and create a bigger picture. To begin with, patterns are similar to symbols, they occur to reveal the bigger picture. • 11. Essay on Creon as the Tragic Hero in Sophocles Antigone Creon as the Tragic Hero in Antigone This essay will compare two of the characters in Antigone , Antigone and Creon, in an effort to determine the identity of the tragic hero in this tale. To identify the tragic hero in Sophocles renowned play Antigone , we should first consider both the elements present in Greek tragedies and what characteristics define a tragic hero. Aristotle s definition of tragedy is: Tragedy is a story taking the hero from happiness to misery because of a fatal flaw or mistake on his part. To be a true tragic herohe must also elicit a strong emotional response of pity and fear from the audience. This is known as catharsis or purging of emotion. In most cases the tragic hero begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This illustrates that although she begins the play in misery she continues to suffer throughout the play. Antigone has a possible flaw in that she is too stubborn and persistent to obey Creon s order; I know my duty, where true duty lies (Antigone, 128). Her punishment then encourages feelings of pity from the audience because her deed was honorable and respectful towards her brother Polynices. The chorus supports this view by bidding her a respectful farewell when she is taken away, But glory and praise go with you lady (Antigone, 148). Antigone is also very proud, and this may have contributed to her death. Even when she is caught she remains strong and defends herself by claiming that the chorus thinks that her act was honorable, All these would say that what I did was honorable (Antigone, 139). This causes Creon to remain angry with Antigone, you are wrong, none of my subjects think as you do (Antigone, 140). If she had been more patient and less defensive, Creon may not have been as harsh in the punishment he set for her. Creon, who received the throne after the banishment of Oedipus, begins Antigone with high status as the king of Thebes. He is fortunate to be honored as Thebes appointed king during her triumph over the army of Polynices, Creon, son of Menoeceus, Whom the gods have appointed for us in our recent change of fortune (Antigone, 130). His view of people was dark and most likely due to the horrors of a series of political schemes and armed conflicts he had seen during the English Civil War. He believed that a contract was necessary. Hobbes felt that people were not capable of living in a democratic society. Instead, a single dominant ruler was needed, and if everyone did their part, then the community would function smoothly. Hobbes theory is unlike Locke and Rousseau s. He believed that once the people gave power to the government, the people gave up the right to that power. It would essentially be the cost of the safety the people were seeking. John Locke argues that people deserve life, liberty, and property which are all an essential part of the social contract. The government needs to guard individuals lives and safeguard the freedom of prosperity and impose laws that are structured to reward efforts which improve society economically. Locke s Contractual Theory of Government says that people must willingly do things like pay taxes and serve in the military, but in return, the government had to listen to their desires and provide for their needs. Discussions continue whether a marriage is between two people who are in love and agree to spend the rest of their lives together regardless of their sex or if it is reserved for only heterosexuals. Since the beginning of The Gay Rights Movement in the early nineteenth century, groundbreaking developments have come to the surface, presenting strong arguments on both sides of this topic. Currently, there are 1.2 million homosexual people living with a same sex partner in America (Rex). These individuals are not being treated as equals and stripped of their rights because of the person and/or gender they love. Because I believe in equality of all people and that marriage is sacred bond between two people who share an intimate relationship with each other, I believe same sex marriage should be legal in all states. Same sex marriage is an important topic to discuss because of the treatment these individuals are receiving. Religious and personal opinions are clouding the judgment of material fact, both of which contribute to this controversial issue. However, there is nothing controversial about equality. • 18. The Postal System As A Method Of Communication There are three separate theories available which can be identified that could be used to confirm that an enforceable agreement has been reached between parties using the postal system as a method of communication. These are, the information theory, whereby the offeror notifies the offeree that the letter of acceptance has been received. The receipt theory, which assumes a contract has been created on the receipt of a letter of acceptance and the dispatch theory, known also as the postal rule which confirms that a contract has been entered into at the point in time that the letter of acceptance is posted. Clearly, it is essential that when contracts are created using the postal system as a means of communication it must possible to determine at what point the agreement becomes legally enforceable. When using the postal system there is an inevitable risk that communications could be lost or delayed which, but for the postal rule would create uncertainty for the party who is providing acceptance of the offer. Therefore, unless the offeror had prescribed a specific or alternative method of communication it is the dispatch theory that is applied in English contract law regarding the acceptance of agreements that are made using the postal system, this confirms certainty in the mind of the offeree. This rule became established in English contract law as the result of the decision made in Adams v Lindsell (1818) 106 ER 250. This was subsequently confirmed in The ... • 23. Risk Identification Is An Underdeveloped Art Risk identification is an underdeveloped art Discuss and include an overview of risk identification aids and techniques in your answer. Introduction: Risk is a vital necessity in which both change and innovation occur and in an everlasting developing economy businesses must change, adapt, and innovate in either or service or goods. However, like art, risk takes time and effort in calculating and producing a meaningful quantity out of in which you have to take the probability of a bad scenario occurring and also the amount of damage that it will create to the firm. However saying this risk depends a lot on the type of person you are if you are risk averse or not, people who are risk averse tend to go away from risk, however, this may cause a loss of opportunity in which the firm could have created a good profit. On the other hand if someone is too risk driven then that also could be very harmful to the business. It is clear that it is in fact very hard to identify when risks should and should not be taken, thinking of the word undeveloped risk is something that has always been thought of, however, when did people start actually start feeling the impact of risk, mainly during the 2007 economic crash that was due to people taking too much risk with the mortgages market in which due to the amount of money they were profiting from moral hazard and adverse selection came into play and mortgages were basically being handed out even to people who should not have had the ... Suddenly, you re put on a back burner, as this new evidence is looked into. This is what happened back in the 1940 s. People in the U.S. were scared by Joseph McCarthy on the sudden rise in communismin other areas of the world, the closest being the Soviet Union. The Scare inspired Arthur Miller to write his play. The Crucible is an allegory for the Red Scare. Arthur Miller wrote the play to show people that the craziness of the witch hunts were extremely similar to the communist hunts, and to show the dangers of being quick to accuse others to avoid consequences. Fear can be a person s strongest, or weakest, part of how we react to things considered threatening. McCarthy used people s fear to gain power, he gained a lot by claiming that people in high government positions were conversing with a formidable enemy. In one of his speeches, McCarthy held up a piece of paper, claiming it listed 224 names of Americans that had ties with communists. Although this list was never shown to anyone but McCarthy, no one tried to get the accused people freed from their charges of treason. The reason for this was that anyone who questioned the truth, or anyone who knew the truth and tried to get it public, was accused of communism and taken care of . Since crystal violet is in much smaller concentration than hydroxide, the experiment captured the reaction rateand order of crystal violet while the order of OH was calculated post lab using the pseudo first order method (eqn 1,2,3). The concentration of CV+ generally decreased over time at a similar rate when mixed with 0.1M and 0.2M hydroxide. The data was copied into Excel then made into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Gene The Von Hippel Lindau (VHL) gene was first discovered as a tumor suppressor gene in 1993 by Latif, et al. (1). The gene was identified in an attempt to determine the driver of tumorigenesis in Von Hippel Lindau Disease. VHL disease is an autosomal dominant hereditary cancer syndrome that is characterized by tumor and cyst formation throughout the body, with those infected especially predisposed to hemangioblastomas of the central nervous system, eyes, pancreas, and kidney. Latif, et al. were able to match the generegion to chromosome 3p.25 26 by positional cloning and created a map of the region using pulsed field gel electrophoresis in order to isolate the prospective genes. The DNAof 221 VHL patients was then probed using specified plasmids to determine that there were 28 rearrangements present, with three large non overlapping deletions detected in the hypothesized VHL gene segment. This sequence was conserved across different species, with implications of its necessity for normal cellular function, pointing to its role as a tumor suppressor. Since part of the sequence of the proteinproduct (pVHL) also matched (48%) to that of a surface membrane protein sequence in Trypanosoma brucei, pVHL is thought to have some role in signal transduction or cell adhesion as well. The VHL gene itself is made of three exon segments located on chromosome 3p25. Patients with VHL syndrome are heterozygotes of the VHL gene, with one allele that is a mutated or inactivated copy of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Treatment Of The Mentality Of Hamlet And Prince Hamlet Mental health disorders manifest through every part of the body altering the way a person is able to function. The body reacts the way that the mind tells it to, and when the mind is corrupt complications arise within the individuals causing potentially life altering diseases and impulsive actions (Civil Rights Union, 2016). Hamlets erratic behaviors have proved that he has gone completely mad. He has depression over his father s death, and his constant mentions of suicide. He also has borderline personality disorder due to the ghost of his father visiting leaving stress, and anxiety towards the task of killing his uncle for revenge, being the reason it took Hamlet so long to complete this. We see his feelings of intense emotions of insanity, love, and shame demonstrated and through this we are able to negate that something was wrong mentally. When we first join Prince Hamlet in the play we see that his father King Hamlet has passed recently. After King Hamlets passing, his wife Queen Gertrude has already been remarried to King Hamlet s brother Claudius. Prince Hamlet has carried a deal of built up aggression around from these events, because he feels like Claudius has brain washed his mother, just so that he can take the thrown. Prince Hamlet also feels like his mother has betrayed his father, and the loss of his father has been weighing heavily on his mind. As if these events haven t caused Prince Hamlet enough traumatic stress, he ends up meeting his father in ghost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. International Financial Reporting System ( Ifrs ) Rules... This article introduces the International Financial Reporting System (IFRS) rules and practices, to the Czech Republic. The IFRS is a financial reporting system was established in an attempt to maintain stability throughout the financial community. Despite the conflicts with other countries accounting systems, the IFRS attempts to organize one financial standard system for businesses to report their financial statements. This article examines the relationship between domestic and global standards of accounting. The concept of developing a modern accounting standard in the Czech Republic, implies that most companies in that country are not willing to change their accounting standards. Throughout the history of the Czech Republic s accounting standards, companies were only obligated to maintain a uniform account and accounting charts for specific sectors. The system only consisted of a balance sheetto summarize assets and liabilities, and an income statement to recognize costs and revenues. The guidelines for each corporation relates to the directives and regulations of the company s statistics, costing, budgeting and management of stocks. Additionally, a separate accounting method was set up for companies cost accounting, including inventory management, costs and benefits of internal segments, payroll, and the cost accounting of various industries, commercial finance, foreign trade and non profit organizations. Cost accounting was excluded by most companies, whereas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. North Korean Political Prison Camps The country of North Korea has long been under the watchful eye of not only the United States but also the United Nations for many years over concerns of it nuclear weapons program but now, they are being looked at for an entirely different reason. Recent reports about the inhuman treatment of an estimated 200,000 North Korean citizens in the countries six political prison camps are been closely looked at. These reports show the mistreatment, starvation, and even unlawful killing of North Korean citizens from everything from owning a Bible to watching soap operas. For the past year the United Nations has been conducting an investigation into the allegations of many recent prisoners that were able to escape the prison camps and the country its self. Park (2014) states The commission investigated issues regarding the right of food, prison camps, torture, and inhuman treatment, arbitrary detention, discrimination, freedom of expression, the right to life, freedom of movement, and enforced disappearances, including abductions of other citizens (para. 6). On February 17, 2014 the United Nations released a 400 page report on its finding during this investigation. This report included sketches from many of the prisoners depicting the conditions inside the camps. Corbin (2014) states The UN report castigated the Hermit Kingdom for it ruthless treatment of people, depicting a brutal nation that does not have any parallel in the contemporary world (para. 8). • 46. Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theoryin mathematics influenced and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knotis created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Social Status In Jane Austen Social status has always been very important, also in 21st century. Everyone has his own role in society and social life. Hierarchy in 18th century England was almost everything. Status of one person influenced the quality of life greatly. Social status and how the family functioned was very important to women, especially young girls. Family social statusplayed a huge role in these young girls life. If the girl s family was rich, it meant that she will marry a wealthy husband. People with high status in society, were the ones with huge political power and great influences. Social status has a huge impact on everyday life, it was decisive when it came to the school to attend, job to get, person to marry, and also it decided how police and courts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elizabeth is a girl from a with social status, when Mr Darcy is the one who has gold. As was said earlier Mr. Darcy s pride and Elizabeth s prejudice leads them to beautiful love. Elizabeth is a very intelligent young girl that reads lots of books, also she doesn t care what social status she has got. As Austen said that she had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything ridiculous (Austen 3.14). For her the most important thing in people is if they are good and sincere. On the other hand Mr Darcy is just full of himself, it s almost like his pride is pouring out of him. During the ball at the Meryton, the gentlemen pronounced him to be a fine figure of a man, the ladies declared he was much handsomer than Mr. Bingley, and he was looked at with great admiration for about half the evening (Austen 3.5). Probably that s why the young girl has so much reserve towards his own person. Elizabeth dreams of someone who will accept her just the way she is, she also doesn t want to get married to a wealthy man as her parents would like their daughters to do. Even though the couple have two different social status, they are able to become bound to each other. We are able to see how at first Elizabeth had huge prejudice towards Mr Darcy, mostly because she thought of him as a bad man. When she visits him in his own place she finds out that he is actually a good person. Their characters and attitudes towards each other change quickly. From total rejection to the absolute love. When we look more closely we may see that most of the prejudice in Mr Darcy s heart was connected with status of her family. But when he realised how wonderful creature she is, he was able to overcome everything just to be with her. The same was for Elizabeth, at first she was disapproving of his behaviour and social class but in the end due to revealing his true self she strongly fell in love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
