The Myth Of Hercules
Walt Disney created a film related to the myth of Hercules, but there are many parts from the myth
that weren t included in the film. The reason why is to keep the film family friendly for kids to enjoy
without seeing all the gruesome parts from the actual myth. By making the film a musical comedy,
Disney kept it PG 13; successfully making the once morbid myth of Hercules upbeat. To start off; in
the myth, Hercules were born to Zeus and a mortal woman name Alcmene and with parents being an
immortal and mortal, that make Hercules a demigod. Hercules was born with super strength and that
make Hera, Zeus wife even more envious. Throughout his life, Hera had brought Hercules endless
suffering. From an early age to his adulthood, like when he

Study Of The Airline Industry Resilience And The Terrorist...
Finally, Company Size, Industry, Company Ownership, Organizational Design (Czinkota et al., 2010),
and Firm Age are introduced in the model to control for factors beyond relationships that could
influence the dependent variable of performance resilience. Data Analysis The research method relies
upon the general methodological framework used by Gittell et al. (2006) in the study of the airlines
industry resilience to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This exploratory archival data analysis employs
quantitative statistical techniques from the terrorism and international business literature stream.
Initially, correlation analysis between the operationalized independent variables, moderating variables,
control variables and the dependent variable will be conducted, using Pearson Correlation Coefficients
as a measure, to identify and evaluate non causal associations and strengths of relationships between
variables. In addition, scatterplots would be created of the variables to determine whether linear
relationships exist. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) would be used as the general structure for
statistical testing of the conceptual model, shown in Figure 4, using the F test. Moreover, the F test
would be an initial overall inference test of the operationalized conceptual model. Furthermore,
collinearity diagnostics tests for multi collinearity on the independent and moderating variables will be
performed using Variance Inflation Factors as a gauge to assess any overlap or

The Power Of Choice In Brian Doyle s Joyas Voladoras
From hummingbirds nimbly flying over flowers to humming women quietly walking through the
park, Brian Doyle s essay, Joyas Voladoras, brings light to the power of choice in relation to human
experience and emotion. Doyle displays this power of choice through vivid descriptions of two
animals: a hummingbird and a blue whale, two seemingly different organisms. However, instead of
focusing on the obvious disparities of the animals, Doyle concentrates on what makes them similar,
the heart. Both the hummingbird and blue whale have hearts, but they use their hearts in drastically
different ways, one heart being the smallest and another being the largest in the world. Contrary to the
beliefs of science and evolution, Doyle believes that humans are not so different from these two
creatures, because, no living being is without interior liquid motion. We all churn inside (3). Suddenly,
the essay transforms from a National Geographic journal to a heartfelt message that connects all of the
human race. Doyle dives into how the heart experiences so many emotions and ideas throughout a
human life. Knowing that the heart is a delicate jewel, Doyle demonstrates that, all hearts finally are
bruised and scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character, yet
fragile and rickety forevermore (3). Doyle understands that many individuals try to defend their hearts
and protect them from any harm, but those hearts will eventually be hurt and injured in a

M1. Discuss the role of energy in the body
The three systems in our body that work together are cardiovascular, respiratory and digestive systems
which supply energy to the cells of the body. I will be describing their role of energy in the body
system; also I am going to explain the physiology of the three named body systems in relation to
energy metabolism.
Respiratory System
The respiratory system consists of tissues and organs in our body which are formed into groups. The
system includes airways, lungs, blood vessels and muscles attached to work together so an individual
can breathe. The respiratory systems primary function is to supply oxygen to all the parts of the body.
Every time we inhale oxygen we have to exhale carbon dioxide. ... Show more content on

The energy release from glucose or ATP during a chemical reaction is an example of chemical energy.
This energy it is used for making proteins, making muscles to move, for heat and hormones.
The food that we eat is one example of chemical energy, which is stored in the bonds of the molecules
that make up food. When we eat the food, the large molecules are broken down into smaller molecules
that can be used by the cells in the body. The process of breaking down the food and using it by our
cells is called respiration. During this process the chemical energy is converted to heat, kinetic energy
and other forms of chemical energy (like the one stored in the fat cells in our body).
Another example of converted energy we can find in our movement. For this to happen we need the
chemical energy first, which makes the electrical energy. This is converted to electrical energy for the
nerve production, which goes back to chemical energy for the muscle contraction. At the end, the
thermal energy which has the waste energy is converted to kinetic energy which produces the
movement.
M2. Discuss the probable homeostatic response
Homeostasis is the maintenance of a constant internal environment. The maintenance of homeostasis
can occur through the nervous system or through chemical stimulation and changes are achieved and
controlled by the homeostasis regulation mechanisms

Cru Computer Rentals
CRU Computer Rentals
(Operational Management Assignment)
Executive Summary
CRU is one of the two national computer rental companies. They purchase CPU, monitor, printer and
other peripherals and rent them out for long term leases and short term rentals. The case covers the
problem faced by the company in 1997 when the rental market started to decline and the efforts by the
company to bring up the sales plunged the company to losses.
Problem Statement
In 1996, they had a revenue of 15 million$ and the average number of units that were on rent was at
1000 units per week.
But at the beginning of 1997, the rental market began to decline and the demand fell down to 600units
per week at CRU. This was a matter of grave concern to CRU ... Show more content on

1) As part of 1997 sales drive, 800 units were given out for rent at a rate of 35$ per week and also 600
units were given out for rent at a rate of 30$ per week.
* Revenue per unit that is given out for 4 weeks = 35 * 4 = 140$ * Cost per unit that is given out for 4
weeks. * Cost of a part that got returned as faulty = 25 + 25 + 4 * 1000/156 + 150 = 225.64 * Cost of
a part that got returned fine = 25 + 25 + 4 * 1000/156 = 75.64 * Considering that (70 10.5)% units
return as faulty and (30 + 10.5)% units returned fine, the average cost per unit given out for rental is
~139$ * Contributed Margin is just 1$. Again, with more units given out for rent, the total number of
items in inventory rises as the flow time is kept constant. This adds to average depreciation cost and
net effect will be a loss.
Hence the reduction in rental rate of 4 week unit from 40$ to 35$ was not correct.
Going by the actual rental rates of each unit, * Average profit per week per unit that goes for a 4 week
rent = (40*4 139)/4 ~ 5$ per week * Average profit per week per unit that goes for a 4 week rent =
(30*8 164.41)/8 ~ 9.45$ per week * Average profit per week per unit that goes for a 4 week rent =
(25*12 190.05)/12 ~ 9$ per week
This shows that more reduction in rate is possible for an 8 week or a 12 week CRU unit when
compared to a 4 week unit. So, mere increases in utilization rate alone won t be a performance
measure if

My Position As A First Year Composition Student
I am in a unique position as a First year Composition student in his mid thirties: I have a vast amount I
would like to say about myself and the world, yet I lack the technical and rhetorical prowess to
express myself efficiently. So, while I may have a lot to say, I don t have the skills necessary to say
much of anything. At least, this was my position in August of this year, at the start of the semester and
at my introduction to college level writing.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been a big proponent of the written word. I have been a
lover of books and writing for my entire life, and learned the Dos and Don ts of writing through my
exposure to books. Which is to say, I might be a damn good reader, but good
readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I was still by no means an
expert in rhetoric. Ten years later, despite a decade of professional, full time employment as a
technical writer, I am still severely lacking in any real rhetorical or literary expertise. At the start of
this semester, I could not differentiate between simple and complex sentences, nor explain a transitive
vs. intransitive verb, nor did I understand any but the most simplistic rhetorical devices. In other
words, I lacked the rhetoric of rhetoric.
Consider this: you bring your vehicle to an auto mechanic to resolve an issue, and you are attempting
to explain in mutually understood terms where the problem lies. The mechanic may have the most
advanced knowledge possible in his or her field. He or she will be able to diagnose your issue using
expensive, specialized equipment, and be able to draw upon years of experience to do so. Yet, as the
owner of the vehicle, and someone with no technical knowledge in this field, it is still up to you to
attempt to explain to the mechanic where to start looking for the problem.
It makes a noise when I turn left, you might say.
What kind of noise? the mechanic asks, Like a grinding noise? A bumping or knocking sound?
You re at a loss, but stammer out, It kind of goes, Whirl whirl whirl whiiiiirl, and makes a grinding
sound, then goes away once I straighten out the steering wheel.
Without skipping a beat, the mechanic replies: It sounds like a bad wheel

The genesis of Edward Scissorhands came from a drawing by then teenaged director Tim Burton,
which reflected his feelings of isolation and being unable to communicate to people around him in
suburban Santa Clarita Valley, California. Burton stated that he was often alone and had trouble
retaining friendships. I get the feeling people just got this urge to want to leave me alone for some
reason, I don t know exactly why . During pre production of Beetlejuice, Burton hired Caroline
Thompson, then a young novelist, to write the Edward Scissorhands screenplay as a spec script.
Burton was impressed with her short novel, First Born, which was about an abortion that came back to
life . Burton felt First Born had the same psychological elements he wanted to showcase in Edward
Scissorhands.

According to Weitz (1991), a large scale survey carried out in the U.S.A found problems facing an
individual who is HIV positive or diagnosed with AIDS face discrimination largely down to ignorance
from people who just simply do not understand how it can be spread or how the individual may have
contacted the disease in the first place. Johnstone p.126 (2001) points out that within the U.K there has
been a shift away from bigoted public attitudes but the stigma remains which is largely down to how
the media portray the illness. Legislation such as the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 was
introduced to eliminate discrimination towards disabled people in areas of employment, education,
accessing facilities, goods or services and the managing, buying or renting of land or property. Parts of
it became law in December 1996, and other parts have been introduced over time. For example, within
organisations and businesses it became unlawful for employers to treat disabled people less favorably
than other employees for a reason in relation to their disability. Reasonable adjustments have had to be
made for any person with a disability, such as making changes in service provision or providing extra
help since October 1999. Premises have also had to ensure any adaptations to allow access for
disabled people were implemented

Analysis Of The Film Ai Weiwei Never Sorry
The film Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012) is a documentary directed by Alison Klayman. It follows
contemporary Chinese artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, documenting how he stood up against the
Chinese government and revealed the horrific actions the government commits. Ai Weiwei differs
from other critics of the Chinese government because he uses aggressive words, while his fellow
critics do not insult the government or the Communist Party. He uses several mediums to show how
the government has acted including his blog and documentaries, showing what Chinese citizens go
through on a daily basis.. Weiwei is incredibly brave for putting his life on the line to fight for a better
country and a better world.
Ai WeiWei studied at the Beijing Film Academy. He was also part of the first generation to study
abroad as part of China s Reform and Opening Up Policy. He came to New York in 1983 and
photographed protests so he could be apart of democracy. In 1993, his dad was sick so he returned to
China. Once there, Ai Weiwei went to antique stores so he could see and feel the past. Once back in
China, he decided that he was going to protest because he knew what freedom and democracy was
like and never wants to go back. This inspired him to beginning protesting and hoping he can help
make China a better place.
When he returned from New York, Weiwei noticed that the government was beginning to shut down
artistic expression. In response, he and other artists created an underground gallery where

Criminal behaviour has been so constant in movies that are the following genre of a greater
understanding of crime in film: thriller, action, suspense, mystery, detective, prison, film noir and the
most modern heist. The crime genre started with one main sub genre, and that was the gangsta genre.
The crime genre appeals to a mainstream and diverse audiences because of all the elements of the
film. Firstly, the action elements of the films which include shoot outs and car chases appeal to the
mainstream audience. The action sequence are very important to the mainstream audience as they
want to see the spectacle .Secondly, the A list actors, who are attracted to the crime genre, make

There are different kinds of partnerships, i.e. LLP, Equity Partners, and Non Equity Partners etc. The

History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements
Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The
construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements.
Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649,
the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered
phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding
concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a
collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists
began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French
geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their
individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven
elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic
table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly
produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Meyer s 1864 textbook
included a shortened version of the periodic table, which contained about half of the known elements
ordered by their atomic weight and valence charges. In 1868, Meyer assembled a prolonged version of

Positive Role In Social Work
Social work is a practice based profession and academic discipline focusing on the principles of social
justice, human rights and equality and diversity (International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW),
2014). Furthermore, social work is a complex discipline which is underpinned by theories grounded in
social science, humanities and indigenous knowledge (IFSW, 2014). Social work has been embedded
into society as a fundamental aspect of planning person centred care for vulnerable groups (Dowling
et al, 2006). There are many schools of thought which attempt to define what constitutes a vulnerable
group within society. Richardson et al (2015) states that vulnerability arises within those individuals
who need support to address the challenges that affect their quality of life. Poverty, extremes of age,
disability, mental or physical health status and ethnicity all have the potential to contribute to
vulnerability and social exclusion of the group or individual (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2017). In
particular, the elderly and youths leaving care are recognised as having multiple needs and face
adversity integrating wholly into society. It is the role of the social worker to assess, plan, intervene,
implement and evaluate the care for these groups and individuals (Horner, 2009)).
Social workers play a vital role within society in supporting such people regardless of their
background. They are not only there to protect people from abuse but to also help enable individuals

Essay War Ethics in Iraq
Lieutenant Colonel Allen B. West of the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division is a leader doing what a
leader is required to do; to lead and protect those in which he leads. LTC West was charged with
communicating a threat and aggravated assault. These are serious war crimes charged to a leader who
was undeserving of such implications. The villains here are the politicians who prevent soldiers like
LTC West from efficiently fighting the war in Iraq.
LTC West a battalion officer in Iraq during on or about January of 2003 to October of 2003; made a
controversial decision. LTC West and his battalion of artillery and infantry was a fighting unit in Iraq.

After the second shot was fired the policeman disclosed all information having to do with a sniper
ambush. LTC West pursued this invaluable information. The information the policeman gave up was
accurate. LTC West and his soldiers wiped out the ambush before it could cause them harm.
It is unfortunate that soldiers have to fight with their hands behind their back in Iraq. And there is no
doubt about it; soldiers have to do just that. Soldiers in Iraq are fighting under a dangerous
environment where the next step could be their last, as loyalists of Saddam Hussein s regime attack
them relentlessly. The enemy is wearing civilian clothes and hiding behind women and children. So
when you ask battalion and company commanders to stop the violence against the Iraqi people and
against soldiers, the pressure to use aggressive interrogation techniques seems to be reasonable. LTC
West simply put his soldiers first and in doing so saved a countless number of lives. LTC West should
not be pursued as a criminal but instead a hero.
This act of political positioning has caused a huge wave of demoralization throughout the military;
from Iraq to here at home. I can vouch for such feelings in Iraq. I happened to be there in October of
2003 when LTC West was unfairly charged. My unit felt the demoralized and the 82nd

Informative Paper On Internal Medicine
Ms. King is a brittle diabetic who has been on medication for many years. A new insulin is available
on the market that could help her greatly, but will cost her $500 a prescription. Mr. Lennon has been
complaining of difficulty breathing and weight loss, but his insurance will not cover a CT scan until
something abnormal is seen on a cheaper test. In a time where medications, treatments, and tests are
rapidly improving, very few patients can afford the care they need. This is where an Internal Medicine
specialist, or Internist, comes into play. In my interview with Dr. Stephanie Altobellis, she explained
that Internists don t just treat patients, but also advocate for them in nearly every aspect of the
healthcare system.
Thesis:
Thus today, I want to share the three main things I learned about the field of Internal Medicine. First,
what exactly is an Internist and what kinds of problems do they treat? Second, how much training is
required to become one? Third, what additional duties do they perform besides treating patients?
Transition 1: First, what exactly is an Internist and what problems do they diagnose and treat?
I. If you have ever seen a Pediatrician or Family Practice doctor for check ups, physicals, or shots, this
is similar to what an Internist does save for a couple of differences.
A. An Internist generally sees older patients from age 40 to as high as age 105.
B. They are trained to handle most medical problems.

Ringworm Essay
Ringworms is a contagious fungal infection that occasionally occurs on the surface of people or
animals skin. Ringworms can also be called tinea corporis. Children, athletics, and people who change
in locker rooms, are the most commonly people that can get affected by this infection. People who has
weakened immune system have more problem fighting off ringworms. Pets can also have ringworm
infection. People believe that ringworms is an infection that has something to do with real worms, but
we know that this is a fungal infection and has nothing to do with real worms, it is just a rash on the
surface of the skin, that is shaped like a ring. This infection can be track back to at least 1800s,
because the population of this infection was so little, and doctors did not know how to cure it or what
was causing it. This infection was more commonly on poor people, this people were the most infected,
because the lack of hygiene. As we know this infection is not only common on humans, also on
animals. Although the ringworm infection has been around for a long time, most studies were not
conducted on ringworm until men in the military began to get it during World War II. The humid
conditions in the South Pacific were responsible for the soldiers contracting this infection of
ringworm. In the 1900s doctors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did World War 1 Cause Ww1

15 January 2016
World War I took place between July 1914 November 11, 1918. By the end of this war 17 million
people would be killed. Lots of people have the impression that the cause of the war is a whole list of
things. And that may be true but, while researching this topic I found that the most important factors to
the war were the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, defense alliances, and imperialism. If
these incidents had never occurred this war could have been avoided.
The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the main cause of the war. It was the leading
factor to all the other causes such as imperialism and the defense alliances. It all started when Austria
Hungary blamed Serbia for the assassination of the Archduke. Austria Hungary declared war on
Serbia, Russia then got involved to defend Serbia. Germany seeing Russia mobilizing, declared war
on Russia to protect their ally. France was then drawn in against Germany and Austria Hungary.
Germany attacked France through Belgium pulling Britain into the war. Japan then entered the war.
Later, Italy and the United States would enter on the side of their allies. The whole process was really
a chain reaction leading from the assassination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

became involved trying to protect each other. Everyone was pointing fingers at each other causing a

Global warming has been a conversation holder for the past decade or so. Years ago people believed
that global warming was a myth, and was not going to happen. Now for the third year in a row
temperatures are becoming warmer and warmer. Scientists are becoming more alert to the steady pace
of earth s temperatures rising. In the article Earth Sets a Temperature Record for the Third Straight
Year by Justin Gillis, he explains that earth is casually becoming warmer every single year. After

that earth is warming up, and could potentially cause many problems. Global warming is happening

The Economics Of Obesity And Obesity
The Economics of Obesity Obesity s presence has reached much larger magnitudes than ever before in
human history. 33% of adults and above 20% of children in the U.S. are classified as obese as
concluded by Duke University ( Over a Lifetime ). Although obesity appears to be strictly a medical
problem, many new studies are showing that obesity is linked to numerous factors such as society,
technology, politics, and economics. As a result of multifarious fields, reducing childhood obesity in
the U.S. is not a simple task; rather, the solutions to reduce obesity must tackle many different fronts.
One of the greatest contributing factors towards the growing rate of childhood obesity is economics.

As a result, the majority of food consumed by people of a lower socioeconomic status is cheaper,
higher in energy and calories, and therefore results in a greater calorie intake. An alternative
hypothesis to this claim, however, states that people of a higher socioeconomic status have more
money to spend on food, and therefore are more susceptible to obesity. However, John Cawley, current
professor of the Departments of Economics and Policy Management at Cornell University, disproves
this claim by stating higher income... enables consumers to substitute healthier, more costly food for
cheaper energy dense food... increasing demand for good health or an attractive appearance (Cawley).
Another reason which explains why obesity unfairly targets the lower class revolves around the ability
to exercise. Carl Frederick, Kaisa Snellman, and Robert Putnam, all professors at Harvard University,
note people living in low income areas have fewer playgrounds, sidewalks, and recreational facilities
(Frederick). Comparatively speaking, the Harvard professors also noted that people of a high
socioeconomic status participate in more high school sports and clubs... while [participation is]
decreasing among their low socioeconomic status peers (Frederick). The lack of a physically active
lifestyle in low socioeconomic status communities also explains why obesity is more prevalent in
these areas. Due to consuming higher energy dense foods at a cheaper

The Battle Of The Consoles
Battle of the Consoles The battle of the best console has been in full force since Microsoft and Sony
created the Xbox and PlayStation. They have caused controversy among gamers for numerous years.
The majority of articles state, PS4 has been more popular compared to Xbox (Feria). People like to
argue which is better, but when choosing it is mostly a matter of opinion. Most gamers do not look at
the statistics. The PlayStation 4 has continually outsold the Xbox One since their release (Elise).
When researching, one can infer that the PlayStation 4 is a better choice than the Xbox One.
Games
First of all, all gamers have personal preferences, and quite a few favor PlayStation 4 games over
Xbox One games. Each console has games that are limited to only them. Microsoft has been preparing
new games, such as Titanfall, that are completely exclusive to the Xbox One (Feria). Sony is also
going to launch new exclusive games in 2015 like Uncharted 4 and The Order (Feria). Since there are
only a select few games that are exclusive, it makes it difficult to say which is better in this matter.
Some users depend on the graphics of the games that are not exclusive to the consoles to decide
between them. The graphics of the PlayStation 4 s games often have a higher quality than those of the
Xbox One. A user s opinion is the sole method in deciding between the consoles when it comes to
games.

However, it is only with repeated use that they gain skill with a given device. Therefore, it is critical
that they see not only a cost advantage, but a significant increase in product performance in order for
considerable adoption to take place. Starion s choice to focus on the core buyer requirements
magnifies their intimate knowledge of the space and contributed greatly to the company s overall
success. The decision was made to concentrate on an open surgery strategy. Early adoption,
particularly for a small fish in a big pond, is critical to any start up. This direction, spearheaded by
management, was a deft decision for several reasons. The customer base in this field consists of an
end user with a complex hierarchy and buyer process. However, it is ultimately the end user s decision
which makes or breaks a product in this field. Therefore, the decision to launch the product for use in
open surgeries as opposed to laparoscopic procedures vastly increased the attractiveness to the early
adopter base. The open surgery tool strategy enabled doctors to rely on backwards compatibility (the
ability to simply fall back on the tried and true cut and suture method), another key point with
experimental tools and methods.

monopolar device, also known as the Bovie device. With

essential for them to employ ethics and morality in their actions, if not they will be heavily scrutinized
and rejected by the public. This way of thinking also applies to the pharmaceutical industry, which

Even though the pharmaceutical industry has made great improvements to human health and quality

critics wonder whether this multi billion dollar industry is giving enough back to the community and
fulfilling its social responsibility. But the question still remains, how has ethics become involved in
the pharmaceutical Industry? To understand this better, I will briefly talk about the history of the
industry. In the late 19th and early 20th century key discoveries, such as insulin and penicillin, were
made. These medicines were needed in large quantities, and thus allowed major companies that we
know today to begin the mass manufacture and distribution of these. In order to test and approve drugs
and to require appropriate labeling legislation was enacted. As the pharmaceutical industry grew,
prescription and nonprescription drugs became legally distinguished from one another. From the 1950

Change in the Victorian period. The role of women. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland is the country whose rich history covers many periods and eras. It saw its ups and
downs, experienced both hardships and prosperity. It has been the leading power throughout centuries,
with many countries looking up to it and kneeling before it. Still, the echo of its former majesty can be
seen up to the present day. However, it is impossible to describe the periods all at once. It would be
better to single out an era, we are most interested in, and retrospect it, emphasizing a certain aspect.
So, the Victorian period is the one standing in the limelight and capturing most attention. The era,
preceded by the Georgian period and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were numerous acts protecting the rights of men but almost none for women. Women were
deprived, neglected and usually considered to be the husband s property . Moreover, when women s
rights were violated there wee no institutions they could turn to for help. Men could get the divorce
when a case of adultery occurred, while women could actually get divorced if husband s adultery was
accompanied by cruelty or abuse. Previously, after the divorce all possessions went to husbands
leaving wives poor and deprived of everything. During the Victorian period some acts were passed
that changed the position of women in the society considerably. From than on, women were allowed
to keep their property. Nevertheless, even though women in the Victorian period didn t get all the
rights and freedoms they claimed for, the necessary steps were made to ensure the stable position of
females in the society. Observing the mentioned facts, we can say for sure that during the prominent
Victorian era women got more independence, social recognition and respect from the opposite sex.
Still, a lot was yet to be done. [ 2 ]. According to the statistics taken from the website

The Physics of Archery Essay
The Physics of Archery
There are not many activities out there that relax and soothe me quite like shooting my bow. It is not
as simple as it sounds though, just pulling on the string, releasing the string, and watching the arrow
fly towards your target. There are a number of aspects that must be taken into consideration when
trying to shoot a bow and arrow efficiently, this is where we will get into the physics of archery.
There are two main things to consider when looking at archery and the physics concepts behind it.
First there is the bow, which basically is a device that uses human force over a distance and converts
that into stored Mechanical Potential Energy. The second factor involves that stored Mechanical
Energy being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The materials that construct the Recurve bow must be taken into consideration when looking at the
force applied from the bow. The most popular material for traditional archers today would have to be a
certain type of wood from the yew tree. The reason for this particular choice of wood is that it contains
the highest elastic energy storage per unit mass for any type of wood, which is around 700 Jkg 1.
Which is very close to having the same rating as spring steel. However with technology these days
more people are leaning towards a type of carbon fiberglass laminate. This particular combination
brings both a lighter weight than wood and a higher elasticity rating. The reason some wood bows are
still around is due to the fact the old timer traditional type archers shun using any kind of technology
or advancements to aid them in shooting their bows. The material of the strings also needs to be taken
into consideration, this is so because the string mass needs to be kept as low as possible for obvious
reasons with efficiency and speed of the bow.
Another thing to be looked at would be the Draw Weight or Draw Force of the bow, which basically is
how much weight or force is

Crash Reflection Paper
Crash Reflection Paper In the movie Crash, they show a lot of different values, myths, rituals,
networks, and symbols used by people in the movie. They also show many bias and prejudices other
wise known as stereotypes that many people in the world use today. Trust was one of the biggest
values I saw throughout in the movie, for example after the two young men drew handguns and
carjacked the Cabots vehicle, they returned home and the wife Jean was still upset, and even though a
locksmith was already changing the door locks, she wanted it done again the next day. Jean claimed
the locksmith would sell the keys and that they would be robbed again. The locksmith, Daniel,
overheard and left the two sets of keys on the kitchen counter as ... Show more content on

The lieutenant, a black man, tells Hansen that claiming Ryan is a racist will make him look like a bad
manager. If Hansen wants to change, he has to claim to have a flatulence problem and needs to ride
alone. After Hansen gets into a police unit by himself, the dispatcher makes a fart joke. Also the
biggest ritual I saw throughout this movie was that of the statue of St. Christopher the patron saint of
travel that caused the death of Peter. When Peter was picked up by the off duty Hansen, Peter began
laughing at the St. Christopher statue on the dashboard and reached into his pocket to show his. A
nervous Hansen thought it was a gun, then drew his gun and shot him dead. Shocked by what he did,
he pushed the dead Peter out of his car on an isolated dark road. The networks involved in this movie
kind of shocked me, for example at the chop shop, the owner Lucien tells Anthony and Peter he can t
buy the Navigator parts from the stolen Navigator because of the blood stains. Another network that
shocked me was that of the DA and Graham, when Flanagan, Rick Cabot s campaign manager talks to
Graham. Flanagan brings up details about Graham s missing brother and some criminal charges
against him which could be dropped. He also hints at a good job with Cabot if Graham agrees with the
story to blame the white cop. Graham reluctantly agrees and

The Man Who Killed By Barbara Ehrenreich Essay
Barbara Ehrenreich goes on a venture as a minimum wage employer. During that time, she soon
realizes that it is difficult to remain stable in all courses of living with the amount of money she
makes. Throughout this experiment she is fully aware that losing her job would not affect her in any
way, which gives her the fortune of being able to influence others to speak up and claim for what they
deserve. There were hours of draining work to maintain a room over her head, a meal to eat, and
health care to fulfill her needs. Above all, at the end of the day, if Ehrenreich would find herself
having to live in her car or come to the trail of hunger, she had the advantage of quitting this lifestyle
or being able to cheat her way out of it. However, in her journey she did endure the majority of the
stress that came with these low wage professions which made her successful with some part of her
experiment. Ehrenreich elaborates on the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is to demonstrate the unbelievably stressful occupations low class employers live with everyday, and
present to others who do not appreciate them because of their higher professions. Ehrenreich writes
about relatable struggles in their lives which can demonstrate to the world how tough it is in those
fields. Details about the excruciating pain and the difficulty of carrying on a load of the job can
change the point of view of those who are willing to read this book and influence them into thinking
twice before judging these employees. As a maid, Ehrenreich discusses her encounter with medical
needs but is turned down by Ted, who believes that a cure to a migraine is popping to Excedrins and
the cure to a rash is new latex gloves (Ehrenreich 87). If someone who is financially stable with a well
paying job were to read this, they would be astounded by the idea of people not being able to get the
care they need in order to maintain a healthy

Descriptive Essay On A Ride
Please sit in your seat and pull down the harness till it clicks, once it clicks please wait to be checked
and get ready to enjoy your ride. I hear over and over and over again till I reach the platform, but I m
far from it. Impatiently waiting, I was pondering on what this ride would be like. I see the loops, I see
the spirals, but I don t know exactly what they feel like. My stomach is slowing turning and i m
starting to overwork myself. Im biting my nails, it s like they are yelling at me. Playing with my shirt,
biting my hair, pacing around the line, but it s hard with all of the people in the way. It s packed, and
the temperature is hot. Feeling the heat and sweat off of everyone in line. Smelling the cotton candy
and popcorn, looking from the top of the steps I see the dippin dots cart, oh how bad I would do
anything to get out of this line and get some ice cream. I was about 7 years old at the time, thinking
about nothing but food and when are we going home. We ve been here all day, my 3 cousins, my
mom, my brother and I. Tired. But I feeling the anticipation of what ifs. What if I fall off, what if I
throw up, what if the ride breaks down. What if is all unknown. I glance over at people s faces in line,
some joyful, some terrified. I am completely fearful about the events that will take place next. About
25 minutes pass by i look around and watch people get on and off of the ride. Watching some
disgusted faces getting of, and some that are crying because they

Flexible Discriminant Analysis
The furcula is the main element of avian flight; it is an important origin for flight muscles used in the
down stroke. Many biomechanical functions have been suggested for the Furcular. Originally it was
thought to play a motionless function, acting as a spacer and muscle for flight. Other studies showed a
more active role, where the furcular experience distortions during the wingbeat cycle, where it spread
laterally on the down stroke and rebounding during the upstroke, almost acting like a spring. This
behavior might represent an energy saving adaptation to help with respiration. Past studies have found
that found that subaqueous fliers have more of a V shaped furcular with a high anteroposterior
curvature, whereas soaring bird are more U shaped with low anteroposterior curvature. This study
seeks to clarify this form function relationship through the use of eigenshape morphometric analysis
along with phylogenetic comparative methods (PCMs), and phylogenetic Flexible Discriminant
Analysis (pFDA). Examination of flight modes revealed that intermittent bounders are associated with
narrow interclavicular angles and straight clavicular rami. Short range fliers have a small
anteroposterior curvature where larger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Past studies showed the strength of the form and function relationship in the avian furcula, while this
study examined the form and function in more modern Mesozoic birds. This study revealed that
eigenshape analysis of Arvin birds furcular allows for more derived flight modes. This study
confirmed that soaring birds have a more U shaped furcula than continuously flapping birds. It also
observed that the interclavicular angle is an even more important aspect of flight mode than the
curvature, and is positively correlated with body size. This study demonstrates that the Mesozoic taxa
have evolved unique flight modes through different musculoskeletal

  • 2. The Myth Of Hercules Walt Disney created a film related to the myth of Hercules, but there are many parts from the myth that weren t included in the film. The reason why is to keep the film family friendly for kids to enjoy without seeing all the gruesome parts from the actual myth. By making the film a musical comedy, Disney kept it PG 13; successfully making the once morbid myth of Hercules upbeat. To start off; in the myth, Hercules were born to Zeus and a mortal woman name Alcmene and with parents being an immortal and mortal, that make Hercules a demigod. Hercules was born with super strength and that make Hera, Zeus wife even more envious. Throughout his life, Hera had brought Hercules endless suffering. Finally, Company Size, Industry, Company Ownership, Organizational Design (Czinkota et al., 2010), and Firm Age are introduced in the model to control for factors beyond relationships that could influence the dependent variable of performance resilience. Data Analysis The research method relies upon the general methodological framework used by Gittell et al. (2006) in the study of the airlines industry resilience to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This exploratory archival data analysis employs quantitative statistical techniques from the terrorism and international business literature stream. Initially, correlation analysis between the operationalized independent variables, moderating variables, control variables and the dependent variable will be conducted, using Pearson Correlation Coefficients as a measure, to identify and evaluate non causal associations and strengths of relationships between variables. In addition, scatterplots would be created of the variables to determine whether linear relationships exist. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) would be used as the general structure for statistical testing of the conceptual model, shown in Figure 4, using the F test. Moreover, the F test would be an initial overall inference test of the operationalized conceptual model. Furthermore, collinearity diagnostics tests for multi collinearity on the independent and moderating variables will be performed using Variance Inflation Factors as a gauge to assess any overlap or ... • 4. The Power Of Choice In Brian Doyle s Joyas Voladoras From hummingbirds nimbly flying over flowers to humming women quietly walking through the park, Brian Doyle s essay, Joyas Voladoras, brings light to the power of choice in relation to human experience and emotion. Doyle displays this power of choice through vivid descriptions of two animals: a hummingbird and a blue whale, two seemingly different organisms. However, instead of focusing on the obvious disparities of the animals, Doyle concentrates on what makes them similar, the heart. Both the hummingbird and blue whale have hearts, but they use their hearts in drastically different ways, one heart being the smallest and another being the largest in the world. Contrary to the beliefs of science and evolution, Doyle believes that humans are not so different from these two creatures, because, no living being is without interior liquid motion. We all churn inside (3). Suddenly, the essay transforms from a National Geographic journal to a heartfelt message that connects all of the human race. Doyle dives into how the heart experiences so many emotions and ideas throughout a human life. Knowing that the heart is a delicate jewel, Doyle demonstrates that, all hearts finally are bruised and scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character, yet fragile and rickety forevermore (3). Doyle understands that many individuals try to defend their hearts and protect them from any harm, but those hearts will eventually be hurt and injured in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss the role of energy in the body The three systems in our body that work together are cardiovascular, respiratory and digestive systems which supply energy to the cells of the body. I will be describing their role of energy in the body system; also I am going to explain the physiology of the three named body systems in relation to energy metabolism. Respiratory System The respiratory system consists of tissues and organs in our body which are formed into groups. The system includes airways, lungs, blood vessels and muscles attached to work together so an individual can breathe. The respiratory systems primary function is to supply oxygen to all the parts of the body. Every time we inhale oxygen we have to exhale carbon dioxide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The energy release from glucose or ATP during a chemical reaction is an example of chemical energy. This energy it is used for making proteins, making muscles to move, for heat and hormones. The food that we eat is one example of chemical energy, which is stored in the bonds of the molecules that make up food. When we eat the food, the large molecules are broken down into smaller molecules that can be used by the cells in the body. The process of breaking down the food and using it by our cells is called respiration. During this process the chemical energy is converted to heat, kinetic energy and other forms of chemical energy (like the one stored in the fat cells in our body). Another example of converted energy we can find in our movement. For this to happen we need the chemical energy first, which makes the electrical energy. This is converted to electrical energy for the nerve production, which goes back to chemical energy for the muscle contraction. At the end, the thermal energy which has the waste energy is converted to kinetic energy which produces the movement. M2. They purchase CPU, monitor, printer and other peripherals and rent them out for long term leases and short term rentals. The case covers the problem faced by the company in 1997 when the rental market started to decline and the efforts by the company to bring up the sales plunged the company to losses. Problem Statement In 1996, they had a revenue of 15 million$ and the average number of units that were on rent was at 1000 units per week. But at the beginning of 1997, the rental market began to decline and the demand fell down to 600units per week at CRU. This was a matter of grave concern to CRU ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1) As part of 1997 sales drive, 800 units were given out for rent at a rate of 35$ per week and also 600 units were given out for rent at a rate of 30$ per week. * Revenue per unit that is given out for 4 weeks = 35 * 4 = 140$ * Cost per unit that is given out for 4 weeks. * Cost of a part that got returned as faulty = 25 + 25 + 4 * 1000/156 + 150 = 225.64 * Cost of a part that got returned fine = 25 + 25 + 4 * 1000/156 = 75.64 * Considering that (70 10.5)% units return as faulty and (30 + 10.5)% units returned fine, the average cost per unit given out for rental is ~139$ * Contributed Margin is just 1$. Again, with more units given out for rent, the total number of items in inventory rises as the flow time is kept constant. This adds to average depreciation cost and net effect will be a loss. Hence the reduction in rental rate of 4 week unit from 40$ to 35$ was not correct. Going by the actual rental rates of each unit, * Average profit per week per unit that goes for a 4 week rent = (40*4 139)/4 ~ 5$ per week * Average profit per week per unit that goes for a 4 week rent = (30*8 164.41)/8 ~ 9.45$ per week * Average profit per week per unit that goes for a 4 week rent = (25*12 190.05)/12 ~ 9$ per week This shows that more reduction in rate is possible for an 8 week or a 12 week CRU unit when compared to a 4 week unit. My Position As A First Year Composition Student I am in a unique position as a First year Composition student in his mid thirties: I have a vast amount I would like to say about myself and the world, yet I lack the technical and rhetorical prowess to express myself efficiently. So, while I may have a lot to say, I don t have the skills necessary to say much of anything. At least, this was my position in August of this year, at the start of the semester and at my introduction to college level writing. For as long as I can remember, I have always been a big proponent of the written word. In other words, I lacked the rhetoric of rhetoric. Consider this: you bring your vehicle to an auto mechanic to resolve an issue, and you are attempting to explain in mutually understood terms where the problem lies. The mechanic may have the most advanced knowledge possible in his or her field. He or she will be able to diagnose your issue using expensive, specialized equipment, and be able to draw upon years of experience to do so. Yet, as the owner of the vehicle, and someone with no technical knowledge in this field, it is still up to you to attempt to explain to the mechanic where to start looking for the problem. It makes a noise when I turn left, you might say. What kind of noise? the mechanic asks, Like a grinding noise? A bumping or knocking sound? You re at a loss, but stammer out, It kind of goes, Whirl whirl whirl whiiiiirl, and makes a grinding sound, then goes away once I straighten out the steering wheel. History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements. Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649, the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Positive Role In Social Work Social work is a practice based profession and academic discipline focusing on the principles of social justice, human rights and equality and diversity (International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), 2014). Furthermore, social work is a complex discipline which is underpinned by theories grounded in social science, humanities and indigenous knowledge (IFSW, 2014). Social work has been embedded into society as a fundamental aspect of planning person centred care for vulnerable groups (Dowling et al, 2006). There are many schools of thought which attempt to define what constitutes a vulnerable group within society. Richardson et al (2015) states that vulnerability arises within those individuals who need support to address the challenges that affect their quality of life. Poverty, extremes of age, disability, mental or physical health status and ethnicity all have the potential to contribute to vulnerability and social exclusion of the group or individual (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2017). In particular, the elderly and youths leaving care are recognised as having multiple needs and face adversity integrating wholly into society. It is the role of the social worker to assess, plan, intervene, implement and evaluate the care for these groups and individuals (Horner, 2009)). By the end of this war 17 million people would be killed. Lots of people have the impression that the cause of the war is a whole list of things. And that may be true but, while researching this topic I found that the most important factors to the war were the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, defense alliances, and imperialism. If these incidents had never occurred this war could have been avoided. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the main cause of the war. It was the leading factor to all the other causes such as imperialism and the defense alliances. It all started when Austria Hungary blamed Serbia for the assassination of the Archduke. Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia then got involved to defend Serbia. Germany seeing Russia mobilizing, declared war on Russia to protect their ally. France was then drawn in against Germany and Austria Hungary. Germany attacked France through Belgium pulling Britain into the war. Japan then entered the war. People like to argue which is better, but when choosing it is mostly a matter of opinion. Most gamers do not look at the statistics. The PlayStation 4 has continually outsold the Xbox One since their release (Elise). When researching, one can infer that the PlayStation 4 is a better choice than the Xbox One. Many biomechanical functions have been suggested for the Furcular. Originally it was thought to play a motionless function, acting as a spacer and muscle for flight. Other studies showed a more active role, where the furcular experience distortions during the wingbeat cycle, where it spread laterally on the down stroke and rebounding during the upstroke, almost acting like a spring. This behavior might represent an energy saving adaptation to help with respiration.
