durable and have some significant benefits for serious exercise routine followers. Interestingly, just
because they are called slam balls , it does not mean that all you can do is slam them against the floor
or wall there are plenty of good exercises with long term benefits for the users of these special gym

Essay on AOL Time Warner
AOL Time Warner On January 10, 2000, one of the largest, most powerful mergers was announced to
the world. Media giant Time Warner will join forces with the Internet superstar, America on Line. The
$183 billion dollar deal is the biggest in history. In the recent past, there has been a wave of merger
mania, both in the United States and in Europe. The merger of the Millennium is between America on
Line and Time Warner. The AOL Time Warner deal represents the joining of the Old Media with the
New Media. Not only is it a marriage of different approaches, the two CEO s are very diverse
individuals. The two companies are quite different, in nearly every aspect. Some of the divisions of
Time Warner have been around since the 1920 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time Warner has played around with their own Internet company, Pathfinder, with little success. The
world of the Internet is so cutting edge that unless a company pays very close attention to it, chances
for success are very low. This fact brings the importance of a joining with an organization such as
AOL into the light for Time Warner. America on Line realizes the value of a company as established
as Time Warner. AOL is a New School organization. Steve Case and Bob Pittman also had the
foresight to see the impact of a joining of their company with Time Warner. They could create the
largest, most powerful service provider in history. America on Line comes into the deal offering it s
cutting edge technologies and the love of the American people. AOL has continually updated its
system to make using the Internet easy for anyone. They have removed the phobias that many
Americans have experienced. AOL has developed its very own vast world where you can find nearly
anything you could possibly want to. AOL s domain is perfectly safe and so simple to navigate. At
present, AOL has over 22 million subscribers. Americans love AOL and all the features it has to offer.
AOL has something called Instant Messenger, which allows you to communicate instantaneously via
your computer with anyone, anywhere. They offer multiple e mail accounts with each dial up account.

Socrates Euthyphro Dilemma
This essay examines the relationship between the Divine Command Theory of morality, and moral
questions posed by Socrates in the Euthyphro Dilemma. The Euthyphro Dilemma is often used to
challenge the Divine Command Theory s position on moral acts. However, this essay will show that
challenge is without basis, as acts of morality are neither inherently good nor are they good because of
some independent action initiated by God. Rather, moral acts are good because they emanate from the
nature of God as a reflection of who He is.
In the Euthyphro Dilemma, Plato writes of a conversation, which took place between Socrates and
Euthyphro. The latter alleged his father committed murder and Socrates questioned the moral basis of
that allegation. Socrates was in a situation in which he faced charges that included corrupting younger
persons with impiety. He hoped that Euthyphro could teach him principles of the nature of piety and,
therefore, be able to use that knowledge in his own defense (POR, Euthyphro).
After much dialogue transpired between the two, Socrates asks Euthyphro a question as to, . . .
whether the pious or holy is beloved by the gods because it is holy, or holy because it is beloved of the
gods. (Plato). Socrates question presented in a more modern fashion would ask, Are moral acts willed
by God because they are good, or are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If moral acts are independent of God, then the divine would be subject to them and no longer
sovereign over the universe. Austin quotes John Arthur (2005) as making an important observation of
this in this manner: If God approves kindness because it is a virtue and hates the Nazis because they
were evil, then it seems that God discovers morality rather than inventing [creating or commanding] it
(emphasis added). In other words, an all knowing God would no longer be all knowing as He
discovers information previously foreign to

Totalitarianism In Dystopian Literature
Dystopian Literature The Dystopian novel is created by the illusion of a perfect political and social
structure in a community. Dystopian literature exposes the negative results of the poor decision
making of society. Unlike a Utopia, that is an ideal world, a dystopia is the contrary: a world in which
everything is unpleasant, typically a totalitarian or enviromentally degraded one. The government is
usually a controlling one and it tries to maintain a perfect society by using technological and moral
control. These novels often feature different kinds of repressive social control systems. The political
structure of a community is emphasized in a dystopian novel. The government is usually authoritarian
or totalitarian, and it controlls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this literature the society itself is tipically the antagonist, because society is the one against the aims
and desires of the protagonist. The government enacts this oppression then resulting in the loss of civil
liberties like controlling a person s sexual or reproductive freedom. A novel called Among the Hidden
is about a dystopian world in which you can t have more than two children as a family. The family in
the novel have three children and the novel revolts around the life of the third child that lives hidden in
the basement so the population police won t find him and kill him with his family. To a person that
does not care about having children or is fine with having just one, he does not consider this world a
dystopian world, as it is called. Someone who would like to have more than two children considers
this world a dystopian one. The dystopian novel is determined as one depending on one s point of
view. The societies can be depicted as utopias when they are probably dystopias. In a dystopia, society
gives up something for the benefit of another thing that blinds society of the loss of what they gave up,
but after sometime they will notice the loss is affecting them and that s when they figure out they are
living in a dystopia. The idea that you could be living in a dystopia and not even know it is what
makes dystopian fiction so interesting said John Joseph Adams (Dystopian

Information On Geographic Information Science
Geographic Information Science:
It is the general term for mapping technologies which was used by different sectors and it was the
foundation for Geographic Information Systems. It spatial data in the form of

 Digital Aerial Photos
 Remotely sensed Imagery
 Global positioning system Coordinates.
These helps assess, plan and control many facets of society.
Some Important characteristics Geographic Information.

Natural features and many human features of human s origin don t change rapidly.
Only static data can be displayed on a static paper map.

GIS is no way related to other traditional graphics system in many aspects.
First the coordinates of a particular forecasting system is georeferenced by using it data. So, it can
correct the positions of features of Earth s surface and maintain spatial relations hips between mapped
characteristics. So that common data which are reference to each other can be overlaid and

For E.g. Soils and wet land of a particular area can be differentiate and overlaid to determine the
similarity between hydric soils and wetlands.
Second, for particular spatial features the GIS technology use the relational data base technologies

Human Heart Research Paper
The human heart is one of the most important organs that are in the human body. This organ is
necessary for people to be able to live. There are a couple of functions that the heart does that makes it
so important. It is responsible for circulating blood in the body, as well as ensuring that the blood
pressure is kept at a constant rate. Your heart can be found in the center of your chest. The human
heart is divided into four quarters by a strong muscle. The upper portion of the heart is known as the
atria, and the lower portion is known as the ventricle.
The human heart is kept well protected by a sac and fluid that cushions it. The sac that the heart is
housed in is called the pericardium. Inside the walls of this sac is pericardial fluid, and this fluid is
responsible for cushioning the heart. There are three layers that the walls of the human heart are made
up of. The wall that is closest to the heart is called the endocardium, and this is the portion that is in
contact with the blood. The middle wall is called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Education In The 1920 s
The 1920 s was an extravagant decade in American history. Many people had bought new items, such
as radios, and played the stock market without worrying about the loans they used for the new items
and stock market. The 1920 s also brought about change in the United States, such as women s
suffrage and Prohibition. Despite Prohibition making the consumption and possession of alcohol
illegal, many people went to speakeasies to drink alcohol. The government could not effectively
control the drug and alcohol use in the 1920 s, but it did have control over education. With the
government s ability to control education, it gained importance and attention in the 1920 s.

Test Taking Strategies
Test Taking Strategies
For 10 years, I was the one testing the students, teaching strategies and finding new ones to help
students study. Suddenly, I found myself returning to school and the anxiety, stress, lack of time, and
just all the unknowns seemed to overwhelm my life. The last couple of years I have learned to
incorporate strategies that work best for me, but there is always room for improvement and
strengthening. Learning, study and test taking skills are some of the most important things to have
when furthering your education. Upon reading Strategies for Test Success by Linda Anne Silvestri, I
was able to scrutinize some of my weaknesses, reevaluate my learning style, and look at some new

By using this strategy instead of trying to memorize text out of a book, one should have to spend less
time studying and more information should be retained. (Kaplan Nursing: Lipponcott)
Test Strategies Not so Helpful
There are so many strategy recommendations for students. While each have good points, some are
more helpful than others. Strategies that don t seem as helpful to me are simulating actual test like
circumstances when studying for the exam, study groups, note taking by using the fancy systems.
These three strategies just seem to increase my stress level to the point I feel like I am not learning.
Simulating actual test like circumstances has just never worked for me as I usually don t pick the
correct information to test myself on and the important information gets left behind. Study groups
cause me too much pressure because I find that one or two people seem to be putting the study guides
together. This is a pet peeve for me; I don t mind sharing my ideas but don t expect me to do all the
work and then hand it to you. The final one that has never worked for me is taking notes by using one
of the many note taking systems. I find myself spending too much time trying to remember what
needs to be written where, organizing, how to fold the paper. I have developed my own crazy way of
taking notes over the years. Note taking is an area that I feel is individualize for each

Nurses play many roles in today s society; they have to balance family, life, and their job. Nursing is a
very demanding profession; you are caring for the sick with limited resources causing nurses to create
unrealistic expectations (Bush, 2009). Nurses create a tireless arrangement and emotional connections
with patients, shouldering a huge supporting role. Supporting this role causes nurses to feel emotional
exhaustion and the weight of care for patients can become overwhelming. Signs of emotional
exhaustion can cause nurse to become hostile, isolated, start crying for no reason, and getting upset
(Bush, 2009). Apathy means lack of concern or interest, as well as lack of emotion or feelings (Bush,
2009). Exhaustion of emotional reserves can cause nurses to become apathetic, uncaring, and
preoccupied. It takes a toll psychologically on the mind causing emotional overload before a nurse
becomes numb to emotions. Apathy eventually causes you to feel fatigued and a lack of concentration
and reduced productivity at work. Long term apathy can cause absenteeism and tardiness, complaints
by co workers and patients, and result in job termination (Bush, 2009). Depression happens when

The Anzio Breakout Essay
January 22, 1944 the sun is shining, and there is quite wind blowing across the beach of Anzio. In the
next two days this beach will be covered in upwards of 30,000 allied troops and will see some of the
bloodiest fighting of the war in the next four months. Anzio was originally supposed to be a
distraction that Sir Alexander could use to breach the Gustav line. However, after a failure to
immediately push towards Rome the allies would be trapped in trench warfare and would be forced to
breakout of Anzio. This was, simply enough, called the Anzio Breakout. The escape from Anzio was

they met some heavy resistance on the way to Cisterna and Littoria, that eventually halted their

were able to recover and retaliate. Most of the German counterstrikes were random air raids on the

They got their chance on May 12, 1944. On this date the Fifth and Eighth corps retaliated with their

Batman What Type Of Character Is The Joker
There is no character who is really like no other in the world of comic book villains, and that character
is the Joker. Which would be hard for a person to actually find a character who is deep and this
disturbed in the world of comic book villains? The mind that originated him, Jerry Robinson, must
have been a very twisted person, undoubtedly. The Joker represents a theory about existence that part
of me believes that all people wish we could embrace in our own way. He is an outrageous character,
the stuff he does to other people is the lowest of the lows. The Joker is also a fascinating character,
with an interesting world view, which is why he is my favorite villain. He has so many characteristics
that make him even more interesting, like his history, his character, and how is he portrayed.

Cholera And The Plague Epidemic Analysis
Modern usage of epidemic to politicise or instil with urgency an agenda has made the term too broad
to define, but this quasi metaphorical use of the word represents a new diversity in its definition.
Epidemics create a window from which the social historian has access to both the complexities of
human nature and the political arenas that control and disseminate information : an insight to political,
cultural, religious and social life that in other circumstances may elude the chroniclers of the past.
There is no categorical, empirical or quantifiable rule in defining epidemics; instead they are subject
to a series of accepted truisms that they have both a start and an end, that they elicit large social
response, that they fragment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been a tendency to study epidemics with harsher symptoms and higher chances of death
under the assumption that these fragment society and culture more than mild epidemics like influenza.
The main example of this would be the countless studies of Cholera and the Plague, the former of
which took the lives of fifty per cent of its victims with intense rapidity (in nineteenth century Britain:
healthy in the morning, dead in the evening ), the latter imposing a mortality rate as high as forty
seven per cent (in the case of Newcastle 1636). However, the modern usages of the word do not
always fit into this model. The epidemic of obesity for example is a medical topic, which has been
termed an epidemic by using current social dissatisfaction as much as effect on mortality. Rosenberg
deconstructs disease stating that it is a specific repertoire of verbal constructs reflecting medicine s
intellectual and institutional history , which would accept that obesity is a disease. His statement that
an epidemic is an event, not a trend, in need of a common dramaturgy, a beginning and an end, and a
mobilisation of community to reaffirm social values , does not allow for the classification of obesity as
an epidemic. Here, it seems that epidemic has been motivated by society rather than by a medical
profession, making a definition yet more abstract; both Hansen on homosexuality and MacDonald on
suicide show that the political, religious, social and cultural setting can cause a medicalisation of a
behavioural issue. This in turn can expand the ways in which we use the term epidemic: the
medicalisation of homosexuality and suicide share themes common in definitions of epidemics: both
elicit a social response, both are used to advance a political agenda, reveal areas of the social fabric
which do not appear clearly in everyday life , and both have

The Power Of The National Territory
Taking in account Max Weber definition of a successful state, a failed state can be defined as a state
fully incapable of exercising power within its boundaries, its failure to provide basic goods to its
citizens, such as political and social needs, and incapable of exercising the monopoly of the legitimate
use of physical force. Although in a weak states, like Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, the state is still
able to provide some political goods to its citizens and exercise power in much of the national
territory, in a failed state this is not the case. The failed state is indeed unable to provide basic and
economic needs to its citizens. The nature of the failed state varies across geographical regions,
colonial history, and political circumstances. However, they share some economic and political
features. Human insecurity pervades in every aspects of a failed state, from social tensions to civil
wars, from geography to corruption and external actors, whose presence in many cases proceeds to
worsen situations. The vast majority of failed states lack in security and violate most of the human
rights of their citizens while at the same time fail to ensure basic social services. Moreover, failed
states are characterized by huge inequalities. The gap between the rich and the poor is extremely high,
where just a small percentage lives wealthy, while the vast majority of the population starves
everyday. Elite models deliver financial rewards only to favourite families, clans

called the Brain Trust decided to take the Great Depression head on with a policy that included many
reforms and an aggressive approach to unemployment. This policy would be known as the New Deal.
The New Deals main goal was to help to end the Great Depression, FDR figured that the best way to
do this would be to have the government be more hands on in the fight against the Great Depression.
The approach of the New Deal was based on the government being more active and hands on, this
lead to some individuals and factions to oppose his New Deal for various reasons . The opposition was
mostly based on the reforms that were taking place on an economic level. Some groups viewed this as
a way for the government to invade on the practice that allowed certain individuals to corner the
market. These factions wanted the laws to go unchanged like they were during the Hoover

Wound Assessment
Wound characteristics Location of the wound A wound assessment was performed on perineal area of
the patient. It was considered as a chronic wound due to delayed in the healing. Level of Exudate An
extensive amount of seropurulent discharge was present when a dressing was removed. Peri wound
skin The skin around the wound was slightly moist. A slight maceration on the edge of the wound was
also noted with a lightly sloping border. Erythema was also present around the wound. According to
Carville (2012, p 31) erythema occurs with vasolidation of capillaries in the skin as a result of
blushing, temperature changes, thermal injury, an inflammatory response to healing or the presence of
infection . Depth/Wound measurements The wound was measured, where the length was
approximately 8 cm with a width that varies from proximal to distal, 0.5 cm and 0.45 cm, respectively.
Moreover, a depth of the incision was between 4 and 5 cm from the time it was measured without

The wound was initially cleansed with water or normal saline. The principle of aseptic technique was
applied. The soaked gauges was used to clean the surrounding skin. Moreover, when cleaning the
depth of the wound, a circular motion was observed, to allow the removal of suspected biofilms.
According to Carville (2012, p 78), a gentle cleansing technique is used to remove excessive exudates,
whilst a more vigorous approach may be required to remove foreign bodies or suspected biofilms
which retard healing . The wound was lightly dressed with large combines and secure with Transpore.

Richard Lovelace Research Paper
A poet is before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language, W.H. Auden.
Richard Lovelace was a prominent English poet with many renowned pieces including To Althea,
From Prison, To Lucasta, and Going to Wars. Wether his works were inspired by other poets, politics,
or great love he was and is still known to be one of the greats. Richard Lovelace was born into a
wealthy family in 1618 in Woolwich. He was the eldest of four brothers and three sisters. His brother,
Francis Lovelace, was a defender of Caermarthen in 1644 on the side of King Charles I. His father

Lovelace more than willingly joined Lord Goring and worked his way up the ranks to become captain
at the Bishop Wars. This was just the beginning to a long journey through his political trouble. In 1641
he led a group of men to destroy a petition that was greatly valued since nearly 15,000 people signed
it. He took a great part in trying to suppress Scotts by presenting a Royalist petition to Parliament (this
support of the Royalists eventually financially drained him) and was then imprisoned in Westminster
Gatehouse for six weeks where he completed To Althea, From Prison . After he was released on bail
under the circumstance that he did not get near the House of Commons without permission, he of
course returned to his ways of supporting Royalists and fought at the battle of Dunkirk where he was
captured and imprisoned once again. He also was a part of the political turmoil in 1648. After his last
imprisonment sentence in 1649 the news was broken that the king was executed. His support for the
Royalists was now a lost cause and despite his greatest efforts to support them he was financially
drained by that support and he lived off of charity and died as a broke

Symbolism In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Goblin Market tells the story of two devoted young sisters, Laura and Lizzie. Goblin men curse one
sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the goblin men to save her sister
from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina Rossetti employs a significant amount of
symbolism in her work, Goblin Market. Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie,
goblin men, and money.
First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin men advertise the
fruits they are selling:
Come buy our orchard fruits,
Come buy, come buy:
Apples and quinces,
Lemons and oranges,
Plump unpecked cherries,
Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8)
Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. She sucked and sucked and sucked
the more/ Fruits which that unknown orchard bore;/ She sucked until her lips were sore (Rossetti 134
136). I believe that the fruit is a symbol for sin. Laura knows that she should not be indulging in the
forbidden fruit, but her desire for the fruit prevails over her caution of the goblin men (Rossetti 69
106). Lizzie warns her from listening to the goblin men (Rossetti lines 48 49). Just as Eve in the Bible
eats the forbidden fruit, Laura eats the fruit as well. Eve becomes cursed because she eats the
forbidden fruit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You have much gold upon your head, / They answered all together:/ Buy from us with a golden curl

fruit and consumes it, she becomes sick (Rossetti 293 298). When Laura goes to save her sister, she
offers the goblin men a coin; however, they do not take it because she does not want to buy the fruit

Essay about The Odyssey as a Hero Journey
All of us have similar experiences. We share in the life journey of growth, development, and
transformation. We live the same stories…the trappings might be different, the twists and turns that
create suspense might be different from culture to culture, the particular characters may take different
forms, but underneath it all, it s the same story, drawn from the same experiences (Linda Seger,
Creating
Myth, 1).
All people face trials and tribulations throughout their life. Thus, what defines one from one s fellow
human beings is not the trials themselves, but how one overcomes the challenges along the journey, as
well as the psychological and physical lessons one learns from the actions engaged. Heroes, as

For one month Odysseus refuses to leave his safe home in peaceful and bountiful Ithaca. The reader is
not told of the rationale behind his final decision to join the war; however, one must assume that he
believes he will be successful, returning home with many spoils of war, or that he will receive honor
for participating. His decision to leave Ithaca cannot be simply based on a whim: he is a young king
with many responsibilities, and while he rules his land with great strength, he is inexperienced. Thus,
the reasons for initiating his journey most probably include the experience and maturity he will gain
fighting the Trojans.
One can ascertain that the actual catalyst that enters into Odysseus life is the Trojan War itself. The
war represents a first step for
Odysseus; after all, while it is his trickery that eventually wins the war for the Achaens (it was his idea
to build the large wooden horse in which the Achaen army hid and from which they successfully
defeated
Troy, we are introduced to Odysseus as the great tactician (Book
VII, 232 301). Cunning is a trait he already possesses: it cannot be the object of his journey; it merely
starts him off. Yet he must initially survive the battle, and his survival proves his capacity to undertake
the journey, moving him to the next stage of the Hero
Journey.
The Second stage of the Hero Journey is the most visible. It consists of the trials that

The Development of DHL s Global Trading and Transportation...
Airline Industry Introduction The announcement today that DHL will be developing a global trading
and transportation hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) signals a broader trend of
freight forwarders, third party logistics (3PL) providers, and transportation services organizations to
seek greater economies of scale to reduce lag times in supply chains (Schmidberger, Bals, Hartmann,
Jahns, 2009). DHL is building a 180,000 square foot facility at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky
Airport to support large scale express shipment, better integrate with motor and rail carriers, and
increase efficiencies of 3rd party logistics services across the 220 nations DHL serves
(HeraldOnline.com, 2013). The Role of Global Hubs In Supply Chain and Logistics Services
Optimizing the performance of a given logistics network begins by gaining insights into the specific
attributes of a given hub and its related dependencies over time. Using constraint based modeling
many freight forwarders, 3rd party logistics providers and services providers who rely on multi modal
transportation strategies are using hubs to define optimal freight loads and mode based delivery
(Schmidberger, Bals, Hartmann, Jahns, 2009). By modeling a supply chain to these specific aspects,
including the use of hubs to optimize overall performance, global logistics providers including DHL
have the option of further fine tuning each aspect of their business model, using the aggregation and re

Current Capability Set Fielding Field
Current capability set fielding along with future fielding s including Bradley engineering change
proposal (ECP), Armored Multi Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Engineering, Manufacturing, and
Development (EMD), and full rate production (FRP) radio variants are the Army s answer to brigade
combat team modernization. The tactical environment is the tip of the spear, a challenging space
where effectiveness, survivability, and sustainability provide the keys to success. That success is
becoming increasingly reliant on data. Data drives our missions, from operations, intelligence, and
fires, to other areas such as medical and logistics. Consumption of data is being fueled by the
introduction of new communication systems. Warfighter information tactical (WIN T) has begun to
bring this data down to the Brigade and Battalion level with the Point of Presence (POP), and the
Battalion and Company level with the Soldier Network Extension (SNE). New radio waveforms are
providing conduits for data down to the tactical edge. WIN T and Handheld, Manpack, and Small
Form Fit (HMS) radios are being integrated into Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) vehicle
platforms now. The Mid Tier Networking Vehicular Radio (MNVR) is just around the corner in FY17.
The tactical infrastructure is leveraging these new communications capabilities to move data
throughout all levels of the mission space. The Internet Protocol (IP) is the principal communications
protocol being used to move data throughout the Army s

Landlady Alternate Ending
I guess you weren t lying when you said you were choosy with who you allow to say here, said Billy
as he moved closer to the edge of the seat. I only want the best of people staying in my home, Mr.

very wise of you, but I must excuse myself, Oh, Mr. Weaver I beg you to stay for one more cup of tea!
I m fine, Mr. Weaver stood up and started towards the stairs. As he started his ascent, the Landlady

the topic every time he brought up Mr. Mulholland and Mr. Temple. In that moment, Billy remember
how he had heard those two names before. He had read in the newspaper about how both of them had
gone missing, as if they had vanished into thin air. He began to come up with an idea of what had
happened to them. He recalled the Landlady saying there was not a blemish on Mr. Temple s body and
how she said he was not to go to the third floor because they were not social. Maybe it was because
they were not alive and she stuffed them just like she had stuffed her pets. Billy was shocked by what
he had put together and quickly regretted it. He could not believe that the nice, old lady he meet when
he arrived could be capable of doing such things. There was only one way to see if he was right, and
that was to go up to the third floor. He walked up the flight of stairs slowly

Space s Perception Of Space
Of defining space, the largest question Kant had to wrestle with was whether space was a property of
objects or a condition set in mental faculty. In order to determine this, space needed to be established
as it stands as knowledge. Kant defines space as a priori intuition of transcendental ideality.
Kant demonstrates that our sense of space cannot come from experience. When one perceives an
object they relate the sensations that coordinate to that object a place. For example, one gets the
sensation of the color of an apple and coordinates that color to the apple and the space that the apple
occupies, in order for the apple to be red. The color red corresponds to the apple while the color of the
table it is resting on coordinates to the table, keeping to two distinct positions in space. In order for an
individual to relate an object as outside of them, they must assign them to a place. If this is the case,
then space is a necessary base to one s perception of an object. So one cannot gain the intuition of
space empirically as space is necessary to one s experience of the external world in order to have
sensibility, or the faculty to passively know objects through sensation. Space is a condition to the
perception of objects rather than a property of the objects themselves so there cannot be a perception
of the objects without space. It is impossible to have a representation of there being no space, though
one can very well think of space without objects to fill it. (B39

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), psychologists provide services with

safeguarding my understanding of factors associated with age, gender, gender identity, sexual

of Matthew s assault there was not any legislation regarding hate crimes that referred to anti gay acts

cognizant that regardless of any conflicts between ethics and the law or regulations, under no

History Of The Federal Bureau Of Investigation
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is a crucial part to the government because the agency protects
the nation from crime at the federal level. The Office of the Chief Examiner wanted to create a
branched off agency that investigated national criminals, and criminals who would stay in the state
would be investigated by the county or state agencies. General Bonaparte was assigned to this task. In
1908, ten previous secret service agents were hired to this force. By mid year 1909, the agency had
more than tripled in such a short time period. Attorney General Wickersham, Bonaparte s replacement
after he was gone, renamed the branch to Bureau of Investigation. The number of policemen rose
substantially in the next few years. In World War I, the main operation of the Bureau was to
investigate people refusing to draft, Espionage Act of 1917 violators, and radical immigrants. After J.
Edgar Hoover became director of the Bureau, the Bureau was built stronger to fight against criminals.
This included a fingerprint file, crime lab, and training for new agents. After this the Bureau was

American Indians Unexpected Places
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Americans witnessed the end of the Indian
Wars, the concentration of American Indians on reservations, and the rapid industrialization and
urbanization of American life. Many people assumed that since indians were locked away on
reservations, they had little to say about and made few contributions to modernity. According to
Deloria, technology was one of the factors that made Indians modernized. Automotive mobility helped
Indian people evade supervision and take possession of the landscape, helping make reservations into
distinctly tribal spaces (Deloria, 153). When American Indians acted in ways that contradicted that
Indians were pre modern, non Native Americans Interpreted these anomalous people and instances as
either exemplars of the assimilation process or proof that Indians were inherently flawed. For instance,
many believed that indians who purchased automobiles had either adopted aspects of a superior
culture or profligately waste their meager resources (Deloria, 5,6). However, American Indians

Occipital Lobe Case Study
1. The occipital lobe is responsible for allowing visual stimulus to be understood by the mammals
experiencing it. It can be argued that by lesioning the occipital lobe within the pigeon, she is impairing
the lobe and therefore, the pigeon would be unable to determine a moving stimulus. In turn, one could
say that the occipital lobe does play a role in motion detection, as motion detection is visually
observed. However, this experiment doesn t necessarily draw one solid conclusion for whether or not
the occipital lobe is responsible for motion detection. There are many pathways within the brain that
are interconnected and complex. It seems too black and white to conclude that the occipital lobe is the

One method that could be used to expand on her research could be to try the stereotaxic apparatus. A
lesion within the occipital lobe could be created with this method on several different types of
mammals. This would be highly important to test. The experiment had only been tested on a pigeon.
The brain of the pigeon has a different structure than the brain of other mammals. In order to make a
fair conclusion, more mammals with different brain structures should be considered. This method
would also allow for more testing control within the specific brain region, leading me to believe that
the results would be more accurate due to the mapping of the stereotaxic atlas. Another testing method
to consider could be the use of a scanning electron microscope. This microscope would create a highly
detailed three dimensional image of the brain. Allowing for the investigator to perceive more accurate
result depictions through the changing results of the images within different mammal brain structures.
First, the investigator could take an image of the brain with the microscope before the lesion was
created, and then proceed to take a picture after the lesion was created. The occipital lobe could be
examined more in depth through fine

Media giant Time Warner will join forces with the Internet superstar, America on Line. The $183 billion dollar deal is the biggest in history. The world of the Internet is so cutting edge that unless a company pays very close attention to it, chances for success are very low. This fact brings the importance of a joining with an organization such as AOL into the light for Time Warner. America on Line realizes the value of a company as established as Time Warner. AOL is a New School organization. Steve Case and Bob Pittman also had the foresight to see the impact of a joining of their company with Time Warner. • 4. Socrates Euthyphro Dilemma This essay examines the relationship between the Divine Command Theory of morality, and moral questions posed by Socrates in the Euthyphro Dilemma. The Euthyphro Dilemma is often used to challenge the Divine Command Theory s position on moral acts. However, this essay will show that challenge is without basis, as acts of morality are neither inherently good nor are they good because of some independent action initiated by God. Rather, moral acts are good because they emanate from the nature of God as a reflection of who He is. In the Euthyphro Dilemma, Plato writes of a conversation, which took place between Socrates and Euthyphro. The latter alleged his father committed murder and Socrates questioned the moral basis of that allegation. Socrates was in a situation in which he faced charges that included corrupting younger persons with impiety. He hoped that Euthyphro could teach him principles of the nature of piety and, therefore, be able to use that knowledge in his own defense (POR, Euthyphro). After much dialogue transpired between the two, Socrates asks Euthyphro a question as to, . . . whether the pious or holy is beloved by the gods because it is holy, or holy because it is beloved of the gods. (Plato). Socrates question presented in a more modern fashion would ask, Are moral acts willed by God because they are good, or are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If moral acts are independent of God, then the divine would be subject to them and no longer sovereign over the universe. Austin quotes John Arthur (2005) as making an important observation of this in this manner: If God approves kindness because it is a virtue and hates the Nazis because they were evil, then it seems that God discovers morality rather than inventing [creating or commanding] it (emphasis added). Dystopian literature exposes the negative results of the poor decision making of society. Unlike a Utopia, that is an ideal world, a dystopia is the contrary: a world in which everything is unpleasant, typically a totalitarian or enviromentally degraded one. The government is usually a controlling one and it tries to maintain a perfect society by using technological and moral control. These novels often feature different kinds of repressive social control systems. The political structure of a community is emphasized in a dystopian novel. The family in the novel have three children and the novel revolts around the life of the third child that lives hidden in the basement so the population police won t find him and kill him with his family. To a person that does not care about having children or is fine with having just one, he does not consider this world a dystopian world, as it is called. Someone who would like to have more than two children considers this world a dystopian one. The dystopian novel is determined as one depending on one s point of view. The societies can be depicted as utopias when they are probably dystopias. In a dystopia, society gives up something for the benefit of another thing that blinds society of the loss of what they gave up, but after sometime they will notice the loss is affecting them and that s when they figure out they are living in a dystopia. There are a couple of functions that the heart does that makes it so important. It is responsible for circulating blood in the body, as well as ensuring that the blood pressure is kept at a constant rate. Your heart can be found in the center of your chest. Which would be hard for a person to actually find a character who is deep and this disturbed in the world of comic book villains? The mind that originated him, Jerry Robinson, must have been a very twisted person, undoubtedly. The Joker represents a theory about existence that part of me believes that all people wish we could embrace in our own way. He is an outrageous character, the stuff he does to other people is the lowest of the lows. The Joker is also a fascinating character, with an interesting world view, which is why he is my favorite villain. He has so many characteristics that make him even more interesting, like his history, his character, and how is he portrayed. First of all, there is an argument as to where he actually came from. • 16. Cholera And The Plague Epidemic Analysis Modern usage of epidemic to politicise or instil with urgency an agenda has made the term too broad to define, but this quasi metaphorical use of the word represents a new diversity in its definition. Epidemics create a window from which the social historian has access to both the complexities of human nature and the political arenas that control and disseminate information : an insight to political, cultural, religious and social life that in other circumstances may elude the chroniclers of the past. There is no categorical, empirical or quantifiable rule in defining epidemics; instead they are subject to a series of accepted truisms that they have both a start and an end, that they elicit large social response, that they fragment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been a tendency to study epidemics with harsher symptoms and higher chances of death under the assumption that these fragment society and culture more than mild epidemics like influenza. The main example of this would be the countless studies of Cholera and the Plague, the former of which took the lives of fifty per cent of its victims with intense rapidity (in nineteenth century Britain: healthy in the morning, dead in the evening ), the latter imposing a mortality rate as high as forty seven per cent (in the case of Newcastle 1636). However, the modern usages of the word do not always fit into this model. The epidemic of obesity for example is a medical topic, which has been termed an epidemic by using current social dissatisfaction as much as effect on mortality. Rosenberg deconstructs disease stating that it is a specific repertoire of verbal constructs reflecting medicine s intellectual and institutional history , which would accept that obesity is a disease. His statement that an epidemic is an event, not a trend, in need of a common dramaturgy, a beginning and an end, and a mobilisation of community to reaffirm social values , does not allow for the classification of obesity as an epidemic. Here, it seems that epidemic has been motivated by society rather than by a medical profession, making a definition yet more abstract; both Hansen on homosexuality and MacDonald on suicide show that the political, religious, social and cultural setting can cause a medicalisation of a behavioural issue. This in turn can expand the ways in which we use the term epidemic: the medicalisation of homosexuality and suicide share themes common in definitions of epidemics: both elicit a social response, both are used to advance a political agenda, reveal areas of the social fabric which do not appear clearly in everyday life , and both have ... The Power Of The National Territory Taking in account Max Weber definition of a successful state, a failed state can be defined as a state fully incapable of exercising power within its boundaries, its failure to provide basic goods to its citizens, such as political and social needs, and incapable of exercising the monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force. Although in a weak states, like Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, the state is still able to provide some political goods to its citizens and exercise power in much of the national territory, in a failed state this is not the case. The failed state is indeed unable to provide basic and economic needs to its citizens. The nature of the failed state varies across geographical regions, colonial history, and political circumstances. However, they share some economic and political features. Human insecurity pervades in every aspects of a failed state, from social tensions to civil wars, from geography to corruption and external actors, whose presence in many cases proceeds to worsen situations. This was due to Roosevelt having to take on the task of getting America out of the Depression that It plunged into during the Herbert Hoover administration. Goblin men curse one sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the goblin men to save her sister from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina Rossetti employs a significant amount of symbolism in her work, Goblin Market. Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie, goblin men, and money. First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin men advertise the fruits they are selling: Come buy our orchard fruits, Come buy, come buy: Apples and quinces, Lemons and oranges, Plump unpecked cherries, Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8) Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. • 28. Space s Perception Of Space Of defining space, the largest question Kant had to wrestle with was whether space was a property of objects or a condition set in mental faculty. In order to determine this, space needed to be established as it stands as knowledge. Kant defines space as a priori intuition of transcendental ideality. Kant demonstrates that our sense of space cannot come from experience. When one perceives an object they relate the sensations that coordinate to that object a place. For example, one gets the sensation of the color of an apple and coordinates that color to the apple and the space that the apple occupies, in order for the apple to be red. The color red corresponds to the apple while the color of the table it is resting on coordinates to the table, keeping to two distinct positions in space. In order for an individual to relate an object as outside of them, they must assign them to a place. If this is the case, then space is a necessary base to one s perception of an object. So one cannot gain the intuition of space empirically as space is necessary to one s experience of the external world in order to have sensibility, or the faculty to passively know objects through sensation. Space is a condition to the perception of objects rather than a property of the objects themselves so there cannot be a perception of the objects without space. It is impossible to have a representation of there being no space, though one can very well think of space without objects to fill it. (B39 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Occipital Lobe Case Study 1. The occipital lobe is responsible for allowing visual stimulus to be understood by the mammals experiencing it. It can be argued that by lesioning the occipital lobe within the pigeon, she is impairing the lobe and therefore, the pigeon would be unable to determine a moving stimulus. In turn, one could say that the occipital lobe does play a role in motion detection, as motion detection is visually observed. However, this experiment doesn t necessarily draw one solid conclusion for whether or not the occipital lobe is responsible for motion detection. There are many pathways within the brain that are interconnected and complex. It seems too black and white to conclude that the occipital lobe is the main region of the brain responsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One method that could be used to expand on her research could be to try the stereotaxic apparatus. A lesion within the occipital lobe could be created with this method on several different types of mammals. This would be highly important to test. The experiment had only been tested on a pigeon. The brain of the pigeon has a different structure than the brain of other mammals. In order to make a fair conclusion, more mammals with different brain structures should be considered. This method would also allow for more testing control within the specific brain region, leading me to believe that the results would be more accurate due to the mapping of the stereotaxic atlas. Another testing method to consider could be the use of a scanning electron microscope. This microscope would create a highly detailed three dimensional image of the brain. Allowing for the investigator to perceive more accurate result depictions through the changing results of the images within different mammal brain structures. First, the investigator could take an image of the brain with the microscope before the lesion was created, and then proceed to take a picture after the lesion was created. The occipital lobe could be examined more in depth through fine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
