The Importance Of Communication In Leadership
Communication plays a vital role in leadership, due to the fact that, without communication, any
leadership efforts would be futile. Vision is the roadmap of leadership, for, without vision, leaders
have no clue where they re going, and followers fail to get on board. People respond to vision. The
key to vision is communicating. Communication theories such as Goffman s Presentation of Self,
The Fundamental Attribution Error, the Actor Observer Effect, Hofstede s cultural dimensions, and
Benevolent prejudice all play essential roles in the leadership atmosphere. Containing critical
information about the underlying habits of human behavior, these various theories influence
leadership and leaders in a variety of ways. Erving Goffman, a Canadian born sociologist and
writer, is considered to be the most influential American sociologist of the twentieth century. Best
known for his work in dramaturgical analysis, Goffman not only had vital influences upon the
research in social theories but also published his most widely known book The Presentation of Self
in Everyday Life. Originally published in 1956, this book portrays the importance of human
interaction by using the imagery of the theatre. The influence sociologist developed the concept of
dramaturgy, the idea that life is like a never ending play in which people are actors. Goffman finds
that, when attempting to give others a particular perception of their self, humans tend to change his
or her appearance or manner.

Surprised By Hope Analysis
In the book Surprised by Hope by N. T. Wright, he discusses salvation, the new creation, what our
bodies will be like after Christ returns. Will the heavens come down to earth or will humans go up
to heaven? These are all points that Christians need to ask themselves and begin to think about. He
lays these topics out in clear, concise ways so the reader can comprehend what his points are. All
throughout his book, the theme of a new heavenand new earth are constantly being thrown around.
Wright uses Philippians 3:20 that says, But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a
Savior from there, the Lord JesusChrist to back up his claim that ... (he) will come from heaven to
earth, to change the present situation and state of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Wright, they will be immortal. He puts it like this, In particular, this new body will
be immortal. That is, it will have passed beyond death not just in the temporal sense but also the
ontological sense of no longer being subject to sickness, injury, decay, and death itself (160) This
means that we are going to have stronger, healthier, more perfect bodies that God will give us as
a gift of love. We may not even look the same, something will be different about our bodies. In
fact, when Jesus was resurrected from the dead the disciples did not recognize him. This was a
man whom they had worked for years with and for, yet they did not recognize him in the new
body. Wright claims that this immorality is different than the common idea of immorality. He
says that people believe immorality has to do with souls, not bodies. After I read this, I
immediately disagreed with that, because I have only thought of immorality of souls living
forever, not bodies. After I had thought over this statement a bit more, I found myself agreeing
with it. In fact, 2 Corinthians 5:4 says, While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh,
but it s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put
on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. I knew that verse, yet
I still never made the connections in my head. While our earthly bodies do not go up to heaven,
I believe our souls do until the Lord returns and then we will be raised with our new bodies. If we
die before the Lord returns, then we will be with the Lord in heaven, yet not complete until he
returns to the earth. One thing that Wright says that I do not agree with is, ...immortality is
something that only God possesses by nature and that then he shares, as a gift of grace rather than
an innate possession, with his people (161). I believe that everyone will live forever,

The Ending of White Minority and Nelson Mandela Essay
The Ending of White Minority and Nelson Mandela
In 1948, the Apartheid system officially started. A Dr. Malan introduced it. He established the
structure of Apartheid because he exclaimed different races could not live amongst each other in
harmony and needed to live separately. Some might argue it was because he wanted to secure the
supposed superiority of the White minority. It ended within 50 year of starting.
This essay is going to explain how Nelson Mandela, once just a member of a small Black tribe in
the depth of South Africa, fought Apartheid to become a worldwide figurehead for non Whites, the
first Black president of South Africa, in 1994. It will also explain to what extent his ... Show more

Drastic times lead to drastic measures, so Mandela sought temporary refuge in neighbouring
countries, ruled by Blacks to set up militia groups. Mandela study military tactics for a long time
and used that knowledge to train his group to sabotage electricity supplies for White
neighbourhoods, strike government buildings and cause a general disruption for the Whites. But in
1962, on Mandela s return to South Africa, he was arrested.
This is a key factor in which opinion disagrees with Mandela solely ending Apartheid. When
arrested he was sent to a high security prison on Robben Island, off the coastline of South Africa,
for 26 years.
Although, in response, others feel Mandela was a figurehead who inspired other Blacks to fight for
their cause. Also he receives credibility for the awareness around the world at the time.
After Mandela s release he became president of South Africa in 1994, and with help from his White
deputy, de Klark, managed to dismantle the Apartheid state.
When Mandela took refuge it was at a time when a trend swept across the continent of Africa.
During the late 50s and throughout the 60s, the White colonies that ruled over 30 countries in
Africa gave independence to the Black peoples of the countries. This allowed Black people to
govern themselves. The trend seamed to spread from North to South Africa from Libya, in the
North in 1951 through to Egypt

Video Games Should Be Legal
Violent video games have been a source of controversy since 1976. Though there are many issues
surrounding these games, there is one that is quite fickle: whether or not the descriptions for
violent video games should be more thorough and if parents or adults should be able to purchase
violent video games for minors. There should be more descriptive ratings and adults should not be
allowed to buy video games for minors, because the ratings and descriptions now are not very
thorough, and minors can still get access even though regulations have been put in place.
Violence and other inappropriate material has been a pinnacle of popular video games over time.
For most a video game is just that, a game, but for others and those in the media ... Show more

One important instance in video game history was the formation of the ESRB. That is the
Entertainment Software Rating Board and they are responsible for giving video games ratings
based on what is in them. This was formed due to Congressional hearing in 1993 where the main
focus was two controversial video games. It was formed to deflect potential video game
regulation by the government as its own entity (NCAC). This allowed for the very controversial
game Mortal Kombat to stay in stores. This was a fighting game that was the first to feature real
lifelike violence. It not only featured blood and gore, but also more realistic looking characters.
The premise of the game was, the player would pick a character and fight other characters to the
death, whichever character won gained the ability to perform a finishing move that was very brutal
and involved some form of mutilation to the other character. This was the main aspect that had
people in uproar. Though due to the formation of the ESRB Mortal Kombat remained in stores.
After the formation of the ESRB, there were still instances of uproar over video game violence. In
1997 Jack Thompson files the first of many lawsuits that claims violent video games are responsible
for violence in teens (NCAC). This suit was brought about due to the shooting that happened at
Heath High School that year. Though the biggest action taken against

Job Enrichment And An Organization
Job enrichment can be defined as the process by which jobs are redesigned for workers so that
they can be in control of their duties and also perform more tasks to develop personal skills. An
important aspect of job enrichment is job redesign and it deals with the modification of the tasks
assigned to workers in an organization. The case study that will be analyzed for Job enrichment
theory in this paper is the expanded HIM functions.
In order to fully employ Job enrichment in an organization, the motivational goals must be put in
place. Goal setting is a medium in which managers can help to motivate workers to be more
efficient while performing their tasks. While redesigning jobs for HIS department workers, the
SMART goal setting principles was applied. The Smart goal is the acronym for specific,
measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. All these characteristics are evident in the goals, cut
out by the management of the HIS department in the bid of motivating the workers and increasing
productivity. HIS set its goals in four levels, the engineering goals, restructuring goals, work
redesign goals and job redesign goals. The engineering goals were set to analyze the visions,
regulations and organizational structure. The restructuring goals will reevaluate the organizational
structure. Work redesign goals also reevaluate the tasks assigned to the workers and the job
redesign were set to remove, add or restructure the tasks assigned to the workers. The goals set was

The Sins of Yesterday Essays
He opened the door to the diner and stepped inside. The door slammed shut behind him. It always
did that. It was probably the reason why the pane of glass had a jagged crack running from top
to bottom. The crack had been there for as long as he could remember. It was a comfortable
reminder of why he came here: no one cared here. He sat in the same place he always sat: a booth
in the back near the bathroom. Dorothy, the only waitress this hole in the wall had to offer,
acknowledged him with a grunt and asked if he wanted anything. Just a cup of coffeeand some
pancakes, please. She oinked with indifference and waddled to the kitchen to put in the order. He
watched her pour coffee that probably originated from the same batch he ordered... Show more

Perhaps everyone else knew to stay away. The booth in the back allowed him to take in everything
in the diner at once, and see people enter and exit. Nick the cook sat at the booth opposite the
room from him, reading a newspaper and smoking a cigar. Nick wasn t a small man by any
means, but he was a piglet to Dorothy s mother sow. The acrid smoke from his cigar said it was a
Carajo, a cheap brand. His grizzled face, squinted eyes, and balding head made him look a lot
older than he knew him to be. Nick s pale t shirt and threadbare, faded jeans looked like they
were present at the same food explosion Dorothy must have survived, but neither one seemed to
notice. People came here to eat cheap food and try to escape their problems, not admire the view.
Nick mopped sweat from his brow with his greasy shirt sleeve, and turned the page. There were
two other people in the diner, both customers. He had not seen them before, and he could almost
say with certainty that he would not see them in this place again. They were of no consequence.
Most people who came in here for the first time left without coming back. It must be the food ,
he chuckled to himself. He had been coming to this diner for most of his adult life, though it

Evaluation Essay On Shrek
Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I
did to prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield
because he is awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch.
After I had chosen my topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant
Shrek face with smaller faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside
Shrek. Then, I began writing my outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and
theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I had completed my outline, I practiced with it
several times twice in class and twice outside of class. It was during my practice outside of class
that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a speech that would last over four
minutes just from my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what I was going to say, word for
word, and attempted to memorize it, but that didn t go as planned.... Show more content on

keep the audience focused on the speech. I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most
of them, which was a good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were
times that I was left trying to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the
performance slightly, even though I don t believe it was that big of a deal. I also made a pun by
ending my speech with My speech is all ogre now and very few people caught it. This was

Gross Morphology
Gross Morphology:
The vastus medialis (VM) muscle is often described as having two parts to it. Proximally (and
running down most the length of the femur) is the longus component (VML). Distally where the
VM angle of muscle fibres begins to change from parallel/ vertical to an oblique angle is the
oblique component (VMO) (Adds and Skinner 2012).
Proximally, (VM) attaches to the proximal femur. Starting at the intertrochanteric line and moving
posteroinferiorly to the medial supracondylar line (having passed over the pectineal line and the
medial lip of the linear aspera (Drake et al 2013)). Distally the VM attaches to the medial boarder of
the patella bone over the knee joint.
VM is innervated by the femoral nerve, as with the rest of the quadriceps group. The femoral
nerve is derived from the lumbosacral plexus, in particular spinal nerves L2,L3 and L4 (Drake et
al). This however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It runs from medially to the vastus intermedius and contracts with it (both being innervated
primarily by the femoral nerve). The distal portion, VMO, has a stabilising role of the patella
during knee extension (Benjafield 2013). The angle of pennation of VMO acts as evidence and the
contraction will occur in the direction of pennation, thus demonstrating the VMO will provide a
medial pull when activated (during knee extension)
Normally, the patella tracks down from the intercondylar groove of the femur with extension

as a stabilizer in the last 15 of active extension. The influence of VMO on the patella s normal

provider of the medial force during contraction due its dominant contribution to cross sectional area

Essay On Columbine Shooting
I think the theme of Columbine would be telling the hardships of Columbine shooting. The book
tells what happens in the shooting, and the characters dealing with the shooting. The book also
tells what happens before and after the Columbine shooting. B. Dylan is very tall compare to
Eric. He had skinny legs and arms. He s not really handsome come to Eric. He wears a long black
coat and skinny jeans. My mental image would also be very tall. He would have freckles on his
face. He would look very mean all the time. C. The book was sometimes easy to read, but also
hard to read. The author put a lot of information in the book which sometimes made it boring to

I also think the book doesn t encourage copycats. Eric and Dylan have been praised by other
school shooter in the past. E. The author did characterized Eric and Dylan as typical teenagers in
a physical way. It was harder to understand their actions even more of how they acted around
other people. They were more frightening because they acted like typical teenagers, but deep
inside of them they were insane. When they were around other people, they didn t act like
killers. When they were alone, they have a killer motives. F. I think that Eric changed over the
last two years. The more he got closer to the day of the shooting the more he desired to kill. He
was getting smarter at fooling others. A few times he gave hints out to people about his plans, but
the other people didn t figure it out. Also, he even became more psychotic over the last two years.
G. I think the killers were responsible for the killing. The parents of the killer and the policemen
had a reason to feel guilty. They could of prevented the shootings if they just a little more
concerned about the killers crimes. I think the parents still feel guilty because they were the ones

Comparison Of C. S. Lewis The Lion, And The Wardrobe
C.S. Lewis was a rather prolific writer and when he was taking breaks from his usual writing
genres he often wrote fantasy books because that was one of his favorite genres to read. This
essay will explore two of his fantasy works The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The
Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Dawn Treader). Both of these novels belong to The Chronicles of
Narnia(Narnia) series and Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was the first in the series published
in October of 1950 and the third book published in the series, Dawn Treader, was in September of
1952. After completing all of the books Lewis rearranged the order of the books so Lion, the

are no related negative impacts due to the execution of this project, there is still a huge challenge in
delivering water to the population. One of the main issues of this is that the government is
centralized and the agency responsible for managing water infrastructure cannot delegate this
responsibility to municipalities. One way through which the World Bank could have improved this
is by instead of giving technical advice to a central entity, they trained and loaned money to
municipalities. Lending money to municipalities in rural areas would have ensured that even those
that are the most far away would have gotten access to this improvement in infrastructure. The

America s Obsession With Chocolate
Mankind s obsession with chocolate dates back as early as 1750 B.C. What started out as a form
of currency has now turned into a symbol of love and commitment. In the United States alone, the
consumption rate of chocolate is steadily increasing. This is not surprising as Valentine s Day
brings in more than 50.8 million pounds of chocolate in just one week. Yet, with numbers like that
the United States fails to rank in the top 10 countries for chocolate consumption worldwide. It is

Obtaining the sweet chocolate that we all love requires a precise yet complex process. The early
stages of making chocolate are done by children, mostly ages 12 to 16, who have been captured
and trafficked. These children have been taken from their families in countries such Mali and
Burkina Faso and sold to cocoa farms. The children undergo terrible working conditions which
exposes them to harsh chemicals. Some are often the victims of mental, physical and or sexual
abuse. (Huschke 2011) Kantianism refers to our ability to make moral decisions without the use
of emotions of feelings. (Nall 69) When thinking in terms of this theory, one should be able to
put their feelings aside in order to look at the situation in a rational perspective. The main idea is
to be able to view a situation through a universal lens. When applying this theory to the chocolate
industry, one would look at the situation as if it were a small child being enslaved or an adult.
Everyone should be treated as if they are worth something rather than be used for someone else s
personal gain. If chocolate consumers implied the Kantian theory to the production industry of
chocolate, they would need to act for the sake of duty without implementing their emotions. We
would have to look at the situation in a way that affects everyone. Based on the current conditions,
everyone should be able to enslave someone if it

A View From The Bridge Analysis
In the play A View From The Bridge The protagonist Eddie, an Italian immigrant, seems to have
complex relationship with who seems to be his wife s orphaned niece Catherine throughout the
whole play.
At the beginning of Act 1, Catherine and Eddie appeared to have an authoritative father and a
compliant daughter like relationship. Come over here. This command clearly highlights how
demanding and authoritative Eddie is with Catherine. The imperative verb Come illustrates how
Eddie sees himself as the man of the house, therefore he should be in control over everything, and
everything living under his roof should obey and respect him. The adverb here demonstrates that
Eddie expects Catherine to do as she s told, clearly indicating his control and how authoritative he
is over Catherine. What do you want me to do ? This question signifies how Catherine will change

The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness
The Holocaust will always be remembered by the world as a period where human evil was most
prevalent, and where millions of innocent lives were taken in cold blood. It doesn t matter
whether your ancestors were involved, or if you were around to experience it, you only have to
be human in order to feel for all of the people who were affected. Over the years studies like
Milgram s Obedience Experiment, and Zimbardo s Stanford Prison Study have shed light on some
of the basic roots of human evil, but these roots are not enough to pave the way for forgiveness of
the events that occurred. Simon Wiesenthal s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depriving this child of a life based on what ethnicity they were born is an inhumane act of
cruelty. Whether or not it is driven by fear, the trigger is pulled, and his moral decision is made.
The children had not yet experienced the pleasures in life that so many others were given the
chance to before being brought to their end by SS soldiers.
To become a member of the Hitler Youth or the German SS, one must willfully sign up and sign
their lives over to the cause. In order to give forgiveness one must ask the question of what the
initial intent of the harmful action was, and if there is something that could have been done to
avoid it. At 6:10 in the Milgram Obedience Study video, the authority figure tells the teacher you
have no other choice teacher to which the teacher responds Oh I have a lot of choices, my
number one choice is that I wouldn t go on if I thought he was being harmed . While he found
many people willing to defy their conscience and go with authority, 40% actually walked away
willingly from the experiment with no problem at all. In this case we have Karl, who was a good
church boy, who signed up to the army in knowing of the situation that was going to unfold. The
following events may not have been as bad as he presumed, but Hitler s motives were pretty clear
and hateful in their ways while recruiting. Had he been courageous enough to remove himself from
the situation, it could have been more lives that were saved.

3 John Reflection
Many scholars believe that because 3 John is the shortest book in the New Testament it is the
void of any doctrinal content. The paper sets out to argue that 3 John is deeply doctrinal but it is
embedded within the author s view of the character of God and his plan for the world. I must
confess that as I read 3 John I did not grasp the message. It was only after reading the article a few
times I was able to comprehend the 3 John. The article explains that in order to understand this
letter we must dig deep into the background, and find the author s intentions and the reaction he
expect from the recipient. 3 John seems to a reply to a previous letter, which we no access to.In
letter the Elder commends Gaius for supporting the missionaries who have arrived, even at the cost
of his excommunication. The elder speaks of Diotrephes who has rejected his authority and placed
himself leader, refusing to help missionaries, and threatening anyone who supports them. Although
this letter was not thought to offer much deep theological reflections, Lieu found that it cast a
light on the early patterns of ministry. It was by using a socio narrative analysis, and rearranging
the letter,we were able to grasp the big picture. When were introduced to John Searle s speech act
theory we saw how communication carries a force that affects and changes the receiver s
behavior. The idea being that by reading 3 John and looking closely at the events surrounding the
story we are able to get a clearer

Pediatric Nurse Research Paper
Only a particular type of person can rock Elmo scrubs. To have Disney princess characters

clothing. To get an IV taped onto an arm so invincibly. To mastering the art of diaper changing.
To work with babies to small children to adolescents to young adults, it takes a special dose of
generosity and muscle to care for him or her when they re sick. My magnitude and absolute desire
to pursue slipping on Elmo scrubs, or in other words, becoming a pediatric nurse is because it s a
part of my character.
My passion in pursuing to be a nurse in pediatrics started when I was just 11 years old: my first
babysitting job. That being said, through the years of caring for children and making some sort of
profit through enhancing my sincerity, my aspiration has only grown. Being around children has

from Bradley Stonefield the founder of Landslide Limousines in Austin, Texas. The company is
expected to employ around 25 employees during the first year of service. The memorandum will
list different employment laws that apply locally, state wise and on federal level. These laws
should be applied when hiring and employing employees in order to prevent any misconduct
leading to lawsuits. The memorandum will incorporate the fines and penalties that are applied when
violating employment laws. Landslide Limousines must adhere to all federal laws at all time.

In case an employee decides to sue Landslide Limousines, he or she has to collect evidences and
submit them to the court. When the court accepts prima facie evidence, Landslide Limousines has
to present its evidences that will defend its position.
Monetary Damages and Jury Trials
The company should ensure compliance with the civil laws or else employees who feel they were
discriminated against can ask for compensatory damages for being mistreated. The company can
lose a lot of money in case proven to have violated the employment laws.
Adverse Impact (Unintentional Discrimination) Cases
Similar to what was mentioned above both the company and employees have to have substantial
evidence supporting their cases. In case the company was not compliant with the employments
laws, legal actions would be taken against the company.

Hospitality In The Odyssey
One of the many points that can support the idea of The Odyssey as an epic poem is that it is a
story that showcases the morals and values that the ancient Greeks held dear. One of the morals that
is implied by Homer in the story is the importance that the ancient Hellenic societies placed on
hospitality and manners. This trait of hospitality is shown throughout the entirety of the story; and
is shown in the section of the story when Telemachus, a prince, treats his father, who has been
disguised as a beggar, with the utmost respect and manners. The story says that Odysseusmoved
aside, yielding his couch, but from across the room Telemachus checked him: Friend sit down we ll
find another chair. (16. 49 50) This action by Telemachus shows the importance of hospitality to the

He had nothing to get out of letting the beggar stay in his place and finding another seat himself.
Telemachus doing this tells us that he is just a generous, hospitable prince, and he is supposed to be

shining light upon the valued trait of hospitality. Another trait that the ancient greeks valued was
wisdom. This value is used in the Odyssey in multiple instances, but most notably when
Odysseus fools The Cyclops. Odysseus tells Polyphemus: My name is nobody (11. 274); at first
this makes no sense, but after Odysseus has blinded Polyphemus and the other cyclopes come to
ask what s wrong, Polyphemus simply replies with Nobody has ruined me! (9. 317) and the
cyclopes leave him be thinking nothing is wrong. This action is pure genius by Odysseus because
the other cyclopes think that nothing is wrong with Polyphemus, thinking nobody has harmed him.

One major change that could be made would be to replace paper towels in the bathroom with
hand dryers. According to Restroom Direct, a hand dryer cost $159.00, so if the administration
put hand dryers in eight of the Riverwood bathrooms, it would cost $1,272. On average, a hand
dryer costs between .02 and .18 cents in electricity whereas a paper towel costs 1.00 cent on
average per sheet, so using hand dryers would vastly reduce the amount of electricity used as
well the amount of paper wasted. Another way the Riverwood administration could help the
environment would be to start a composting program. This program could gain volunteers
through a compost club and through partnerships with other clubs and societies like Beta Club
and the National Honor Society so that students could receive service hours for helping with the
compost program or donating needed materials. According to the Green Mountain Farm to
School initiative, the necessary materials for starting a school compost program are at least five
5 gallon buckets, a scale, work gloves, 1 cart for housing buckets, a shovel, a supply of hay or
manure, cloth rags, a compost thermometer, and sifting screen. The school could get many of
these materials from donations but if they were to buy them, the price would be approximately
$175.19. According to Amazon, five 5 gallon buckets would cost $52.35, a scale would be $15.95,
a pair of work gloves would be $12.44, a cart would be $37.02, a shovel would be $14.94, a small
bale of hay would be approximately $4.38 (according to the University of Wisconsin), a five

Civil War Effects On The Economy
Ashley Davis Journal Entry How did the war impact the economy in the North and the economy in
the South? In the 1800 s before the start of the Civil War the North and South were very dependent
on each for financial stability. Ironically, even though the North opposed slavery, their economy
was dependent on those very people. The northern states supplied the money and marketing to the
Southern states who in turn manufactured and grew the cotton and other products to be sent to the
North. By the late 1850 s, the southern planters owed northern bankers and other creditors about
$300 million, and much of this immense sum would be lost as, in fact, it later was should the
Union dissolve (Chapter 16 pg. 367). The prospect of growing their

When Arkham City was released on October 11th, 2011 for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the
PC, it was to a different climate than Arkham Asylum, with gamers everywhere highly
anticipating the sequel. Arkham City marks the first Arkham game to be released on a Nintendo

The Ten Greatest Revivals Ever personally brought the power of prayer to an impactful reality
through the amazing revivals that have taken place. One of the key characteristics one notices
is that a prayer church started with a praying leader.9 As a leader in the church, I know I have
personally become complacent. Praying for revival, that the Lord takes my town by fire for His
glory, without having the real expectation that it could happen tomorrow or even within the next
hour. The leader s who prayed for and saw spiritual revival were praying with an expectation.
Reading through the amazing accounts has lit a fire inside of me with a real expectation. It
starts with God using me as a leader to get others to call on His name whole heartedly. What lit
this fire inside of me to expect a revival? It was dwelling on history of God s faithfulness to those
who pray sincerely. I have personally purposed to not let a month go by that I do not read and
seek out a testimony to God s faithfulness to prayer. My objective is to instill a passion for prayer
upon Silver Valley Youth Group (SVYG). I need to have the same objective with my ministry as I
do for myself. I will be concentrating on the subject of prayer and God s amazing faithfulness at
least once a month. I currently have implemented prayer before and after almost all phases of

Tattoos On The Heart By Gregory Boyle
Tattoos on the Heart is a novel by Gregory Boyle, a Jesuit priest and the founder of Homeboy
Industries, a gang intervention program. He invites the reader to gain insight into the need for
solidarity in our world. With this quest for solidarity, Gregory Boyle invites the reader to
develop compassion, to alter the margins, and to gain understanding of unconditional no matter
whatness, love. To begin, Boyle focuses his novel most prominently on the quest for solidarity.
Solidarity, as defined by Boyle, is relating to someone on a human level and attempting to
understand their system and how they were shaped and limited by it. To gain solidarity a person
must have compassion. Compassion and solidarity go hand in hand to change structure and
experience, altering the margins. Boyle says, Compassion is always, at its most authentic, about
a shift from the camped world of self preoccupation into a more expansive place of fellowship, of
true kinship (77). Compassion is the bridge to solidarity. In this section Boyle tells the story of
Julian and Matteo and their experience attending a talk in Montana. Their time in Montana opened
up a new world for them, as the people they spoke to offered them their compassion and stood by
them in solidarity. Julian and Matteo were shown a breech in the margins that held them back and
the ability of others to embrace solidarity. Boyle states, There is a brand new, palpable sense of
solidarity among equals, a beloved community. Tattoos

A Research On An Undergraduate Psychology Student
In the scientific world most arguments are supported by data. In regards to personality, at first
glance, it may seem impossible to collect quantitative data. However, as the text book points
there are LOTS of ways to collect personality data. LOTS is an acronym for L data, life record data,
O data, observer data, T data, test data, and S data, self report data (Cervone Pervin, 2013). So in
fact there are scientific ways to collect data on personality. As an undergraduate psychologystudent
pursuing a degree in psychology, it is important for me to not only understand the different methods
when doing research in the field of psychology, as well as recognizing which method works best
for the research being conducted. Being able to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major problem with observational data is collecting data without the individual or individuals
of interest noticing the observer. If spotted, the individuals of interest may behave differently than
in a true naturalistic setting. T data relies on experiments to collect data. The advantage of using
this method of data collection is that the experimenters have control over the variables being
measured, they can chose which expressed personality characteristics they want to measure and
select the participants they want. Another advantage of using T data is that unlike correlational
data, T data can support causality between two or more variables. While experimental data may be
the most supportive, it is also more challenging to conduct. Experiments require more resources
such as money and personnel, which can limit smaller institutions and psychologists with limited
resources from using T data. In addition to the cost and personnel to run the experiment, it also
takes more time to conduct because the researchers must find enough participants to make the
sample size relevant enough to generalize the results back to the population.
S data is one of the more popular methods for collecting data because of its convenience and cost.
The cost of producing and administering self report material is significantly less than T data for
instance. Additionally, it is more convenient to administer due to the ease of being able to

Yeast Respiration Lab Report
The experiment was conducted in order to compare the rate of respiration in yeast when it is
exposed to different types of sugars, using a method of measuring gas production. Five cuvettes
were labeled, each containing a different sugar solution along with yeast. In the first cuvette, it was
filled with a sucrose solution. The second test tube contained lactose and the third accommodated
fructose. Then, the fourth cuvette was comprised of glucose and the last cuvette encompassed D.I
water. Each of the solutions were then put into a 37 degree celsius incubator for an hour in order to

Then, the fructose solution generated 5 mm of carbon dioxide and the D.I water had 4 mm inside
the cuvette. Finally, the glucose solution induced 19 mm of carbon dioxide, by far the most
amount generated. From this, the hypothesis can be seen as supported since glucose produced the
most amount out of all the other sugars that yeast was exposed to. We know this because yeast
undergoes alcohol fermentation in order to continue the breakdown of pyruvic acid without the
presence of oxygen, and carbon dioxide is a product of this type of anaerobic respiration. So, the
more carbon dioxide produced, the more the rate of respiration increases. The noticeable
differences between the test tubes can be explained by the the chemical body of each different type
of sugar. Enzymes in yeast are programmed to transmit the molecule glucose through the membrane
of their cells in order to undergo cellular respiration with the simple carbohydrate, and not any
other type of sugar. Because of this, the yeast solution mixed with glucose produced the most
carbon dioxide. But, the lactose and sucrose solutions still produced a solid amount of carbon

The Differences Between A Job Application And Resume
Career Paper During Freshman Studies, we learned about how to properly and appropriately fill
out a job application and so much more. Our lesson included resumes, work etiquette, non
traditional careers, our future, and more. With the educational practices performed in class, I now
officially understand the differences between a job application and resume, because at first I
thought it was the same thing. The application and scenario simulators really helped me when
understanding what was not accepted on an application and while working and what was. Also, I
learned about the things that can get you fired, which surprised me, because it s even small
mistakes that can ruin your opportunity to get a job.
When filling out a job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not allowed for the worker to just leave whenever they feel the need to. Now with the activities
done in class, I understand that and will take the knowledge with me for when I have a job of my
own. It s pretty scary to think that I would have a job of my own soon, but now I know what to do
and what to expect.
The rules and regulations for a job and proper work etiquette is very important to know. Not only
can disregarding the rules prevent you from getting the job but it can also get you fired and
more. Everybody should know the regulations for a proper behavior because it can help you
during many situations. If you understand what s appropriate and what s not, then it can prevent
you from losing your job. I already knew some of the basic things about what s acceptable and
what s not but some things I learned in class. For example, the small things, like being late. What
I already knew was to just be on time. But in class, I learned that just a simple call to work
notifying that you re going to be late can save you a lot of trouble. I am glad that Freshman
Studies is even a class in high school and that I m a part of it. Sure I slack off here and there but
honestly the material is so important to know. It s important to know for when we grow up and
look so succeed. In addition to knowing the rules and regulations for a job, we also discussed in
class about what job we might be interested in. Many people already know what they want

Comparing Theories Of Children Learn And Develop And How...
The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast two theorists on how children learn and
develop and how their theories work in the early years setting. Piaget and Skinner are both very
well known for their theories, they contrast each other as one shows the behaviourist view while
the other shows the cognitive view. Piaget is a nativist, he believes that children learn best
through active learning, doing for themselves. Whereas Skinner is an empiricist he believes that
children s knowledge is learnt from their sense experience and environment. Jean Piaget was
born on 9th August 1896 in Switzerland. He studied natural sciences at the University of
Neuchatel where he received a Ph.D. He then went onto the University of Zurich where he
became interested in psychoanalysis. It was from there he went onto the Sorbonne University in
Paris in 1919 to study clinical psychology. It was while Piaget was in Paris that he began working
with Alfred Binet marking intelligence tests. It was whilst working on the intelligence tests that he
became aware of the process of cognitive development and how it differed considerably from
young children to older children to adults. It was from this that he then began his study on the
process of thinking in the development of children. (The famous people, 2016) He constructed his
theory from observing his children, it was from these observations that he established his four
stages of development and schemas; schemas are a set of ideas that

Online Community Research Paper
Online communities on Tumblr and elsewhere are leading people into dark places that weren t
there before. People are self identifying with depression. They are confusing their normal and
commonplace emotions and feelings of sadness with this idea that they cannot come out of this
dark place in which they are in. Rather than seeking help from loved ones or medical
professionals, they go to these online communities to be understood, but to be understood, you
must be accepted. This is leading young people, especially females, to cut wrists and perform other
instances of self harm, and take pictures to document their feelings. To further their acceptance,
they put quotes like So it s okay for you to hurt me, but I can t hurt myself? and I want... Show more

People use the word depression if they can t find their keys, or if they ve had a fight with their
mother or father, or if they ve had an argument with their boyfriend or girlfriend, if they didn t
make the school team or didn t do well on an exam, says adolescent psychiatry expert Dr. Stan
Kutcher. When we use the word depression for every negative emotional state, the word loses
its meaning. If people are overusing the term depression to describe normal, everyday sadness, it
takes away from those who actually suffer from this disease. As a person who has both a
grandmother, a cousin, and multiple friends who suffer from depression, I feel as though this
term is offensive. The people in my life take regularly prescribed medications from their doctors
or see therapists on a weekly basis to help them deal with their issues that they cannot normally
deal with on their own as most people can. When they are suffering from depression, they cannot
bring themselves out of their sadness and feel better. People who use the term depression to feel
connected and like they belong in Tumblr s world of dark poetry and romantic art do not truly
understand what it is like to feel depressed, and although they may need help, social media is not
the way to do

Effects Of Suffragettes
Suffragettes are, pardon my language, bloody wonderful. Isn t it inspiring seeing these strong
women fight for the vote? It s more than I can say about most men, that s for sure. Don t even get
me started on all these people opposing them, some of them are even women themselves! But these
men opposing are absolutely ridiculous, and just proving my point that they re as hysterical and
stupid as they re saying women are. But it s the women in this matter that I don t understand, here
are all theses marvellous suffragettes fighting on behalf of all women to get the vote, while these
people who, quite frankly, don t have their priorities straight are going and practically ruining all
this progress that these extraordinary suffragettes have made.

What Is The Verbiage Of The Magna Carta
The original Magna Carta signed by King John under the pressure of the English barons on June
15, 1215, marked an immeasurable change in the law in regards to the power of the sovereign in
England. While that first draft was only in use for a short time, the subsequent drafts and additions
by medieval and early modern kings and queens influenced law in continental Europe and the
Americas. The ideas outlined in the original charter contain not only medieval material but ideas,
perhaps not explicitly named, that are still prevalent and fundamental rights that Americans and
citizens of the United Kingdom continue to relish today. Ideas such as due process, trial by a jury
of peers, and even the origins of habeas corpusare found within the 61 clauses of this 800 year old
document. Clauses 39 and 40 represent those three fundamental, essential rights that cannot and
should not be deprived. The Magna Cartaand its articulation of due process before the law, trial
by a jury of peers, and habeas corpus were meant as a means of infringing on the power of the
tyrannical sovereign and it sparked the fight for personal liberties in England and the American
Colonies and in doing so has become a staple of Common Law.
Studying the verbiage of the Magna Carta is important, but the background and reasons for its
creation dictate how its original meaning can be interpreted by a modern scholar. The Battle of
Bouvines and the loss of England s landholdings in France was a catalyst for the creation of the
Magna Carta, but Henry II and King John had made decisions that had royally angered the barons
long before 1214. Throughout John s reign, the barons felt an increase in feudal obligations: they
were forced to provide more soldiers, take more subtenants, marry into undesirable alliances, and
their feudal courts power was being usurped by the royal courts and chancery. King John had been
excommunicated for not agreeing with Pope Innocent III s candidate for Archbishop of Canterbury,
and in doing so excommunicated the subjects of England. Combine all of those issues with losing
the duchies held by the Angevin Kings, and quite reasonably, there would be anger. In a society
where land is the cornerstone to profit and

We re All Dying for a Big Mac Essay
We re Dying for a Big Mac
You have been at the office all day long, slaving over a telephone and a computer terminal. It s
lunch time, and you ve got an hour to eat. No problem; there s a McDonald s a mere five minutes
from the office. You could go there it s hot, it s fast, and it s convenient. Besides, they supposedly
have healthy foods like chicken and fish on the menu. Approximately 45.8 million people are served
at fast food restaurants every day in America, and why not? Fast foods are pre prepared meals that
are served quickly at several restaurants strategically located throughout nearly every American city
. But there is a downside to the convenience they provide: they simply are not good for us.

In fact, poor eating habits and lack of exercise is the leading cause of obesity today (13A). As
Brown argues:
Some fast food restaurants have sixty seven grams of fat in just one meal; you start with the
burgers, which have fat as they are, then cheese is put on, adding still more fat. Then you get
double burgers and double cheeseburgers along with sauces, which are sometimes made of fat one
sixth the maximum recommended daily intake. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH)
and other agencies, Americans should eat 25 percent less fat per day, that would mean a decrease
to about 67 grams. (33)
With fast food restaurants creating bigger burgers every year, Americans are taking in more fat
in one burger than they should for an entire day s worth of meals; for example, a Big Mac at
McDonald s contains 34 grams of fat; a Double Whopper with cheese at Burger King has about
61 grams of fat, and at Wendy s, their triple cheeseburger (now being phased out) has a huge 68
grams. This year, McDonald s plans to release the biggest burger ever, the Mega Mac, which
consists of two quarter pound beef patties and special sauce which is a mayonnaise based product
(Engle 93).
Many fast food restaurants place certain foods that have a reputation for being good for you on the
menu to make you believe that they

Physician Reimbursement
In the United States, health care has become a huge expense and has threatened the economy;
additional measures need to be taken to address the rising cost of care. An individual spends an
estimated eight thousand dollars a year in health care expenditures. Therefore, we need to recognize
that how a physician reimbursement for payment has a vast impact on the economy and the rising
cost of healthcare.
Briefly describing the types of physician reimbursement in the United States will explain why
health care cost is more costly than other countries in the world. Beginning with fee for
reimbursement model; this model is fee for service which refers to reimbursement of the physician

Complications of Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious disease with complications that may have fatal results
in some cases. DKA is defined as an insulin deficiency that occurs when glucose fails to enter
insulin into muscles such as: liver and adipose tissue. When there is an accumulation of ketones,
it leads to metabolic acidosis which causes nausea and vomiting, as a result fluid and electrolytes
are lost (Gibbs). There are many complications of diabetic ketoacidosis, some of the most
prevalent are: Cerebral Edema, Hypoglycemia, and Acute Pancreatitis. Cerebral Edema is a rare
but fatal complication of diabetic ketoacidosis. To thoroughly describe the clinical signs of cerebral
edema is characterized by deterioration in the level of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acute Pancreatitis can be a precipitation factor for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). One example of
a case study was with a 74 year old female with a 32 year history of type 1 diabetes who presented
DKA. Although she had no abdominal pain or tenderness, her amylase and lipase levels were
elevated and peaked at values of 1,024 unites/1 (normal range 17 100 unites/1) and 3,455 units/1
(normal range 53 unites/1), The enzymes declined precipitously to normal with rehydration and
insulin administration. Calcium was 11.7 mg/dl (805 10.5) and parathyroid hormone was 232
pg/ml (10 65). It was felt that hypercalcemia, due to primary hyperparathyroidism, caused acute
pancreatitis precipitating DKA (Rizvi). Elevated lipase and amylase levels cause breakdown of
local adipose tissue. The time of increased amylase and lipase occurs 16 25% of the time in
DKA. Some reports show that nonspecific elevations of amylase in DKA. Increased serum
lipase is also assumed to indicate actual pancreatic involvement. (Rizvi) Diagnosis of acute
pancreatitis rests on the presence of abdominal pain and associated increases of amylase and lipas
(Rizvi). Proinsulin is a vaccine significant to insulin production. In a study, researchers injected 80
people who has had type 1 for up to five years with a loop of DNA containing

the many questions that will be talked about during my time writing this essay. Some of the many

Basketball has been around since 1891 it has seen a lot of improvements and some flaws, but
with its flaws basketball is a great sport. The game has grown from a sport with just a few teams
in the northeast to a nationwide sport with thirty NBA teams in almost all states and one in
Canada. Basketball has also grown in paying wise, from the original $2.50 for home games and
$1.50 for road game to the now league minimum of $507,336 for players who have not been in
the NBA for ten years to $1,448,490 for those who have been playing for ten years. Basketball
also saw in less then 100 years Juwan Howard get offers from the bullets and heat for $100
million for seven years. This was the biggest offer for a player for at its time. Juwan might have
been the most expensive player, but he was far from a star. The NBA s first star was Walt
Chamberlain from UCLA later being joined by future star Bill Russell from San Francisco
University. Walt and Bill would open up the door for future superstars like Michael Jordan,
Irving (magic) Johnson, and Nate Archibald. Players like Michael, Magic, and Nate would open
up the same door for stars we all know today as LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Kobe
Bryant. The doors that opened for them will open for future stars of the game and the people who
dream about becoming a superstar.Basketball is starting to become a global trend with 113 global
players being sign to NBA rosters. This many global players can mean

Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding
Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly
improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for
streaming media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital
broadcasting, the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on
demand and other services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex
algorithms; simply take a long time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up
with the constant development of audio standards. In other words: When a new standard
integration into the decoder, it takes a long time to complete the new circuit design, the original
method will no longer have a market value. Be achieved only using the software in power
consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable applications with limited competition.
With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia signal processing requirements,
hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to the actual design. The two
main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First, SBR is capable of
reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which transmitted along
with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved for coding high
frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more

World War Two Causes and Effects Essay
World War II: Causes, and Affects In the history of the world there are many occurrences that
have changed life and the world, as we know it. The history of conflicts in the world is just as
long as the histories of man have bee recorded. From the beginning the human species survived
off of conflict (between various predators and the environment) and has been nourished by the
fruits of war since before the rise of the Roman Empire. World conquest has been the goal of
many great generals and a great many Kings. Through the years there were many conflicts that
were thought to be the worst that ever was and the worst that would ever be (World War I in
particular). World war two is said to be the war to end all wars, because of the leaders,... Show more

The rise of the Nazi party can be linked to the growing bitterness of the German people, and the
economic struggles the country was going through at the time. The Nazi party promised to
protect Germany from Communism while promising employment for all. These ideals soon
attracted armies of people to the Nazi party. They continued to grow in power organizing a
private army of dissatisfied, ambitious, and angry people. The League of Nations that was
created in 1920 recognized them as a threat. The idea behind the League was to settle disputes
before they could come to blows. It was however ineffective in the extreme because it was only
political forum and didn t have any military power to back up it s policy. The Axis collation was
formed after Hitler came to power in Germany. He came to power when the Reichtag (capital
building) of Germany burned down he suspended the constitution and crushed all opposition. Both
Italy and Germany were secretly rearming, but at this time they were still too weak to challenge
Britain, and France. During this time the US had been practicing Isolationism and was withdrawn
from European problems. The Axis came about when the Fascists Nazis and the Japanese
totalitarians came together to form an alliance. This was known as the Berlin Rome Tokyo Axis in
October of 1936. Japan and Italy formally quit the League of Nations at this time. The purpose of
the Axis was to unite the three countries

  • 2. The Importance Of Communication In Leadership Communication plays a vital role in leadership, due to the fact that, without communication, any leadership efforts would be futile. Vision is the roadmap of leadership, for, without vision, leaders have no clue where they re going, and followers fail to get on board. People respond to vision. The key to vision is communicating. Communication theories such as Goffman s Presentation of Self, The Fundamental Attribution Error, the Actor Observer Effect, Hofstede s cultural dimensions, and Benevolent prejudice all play essential roles in the leadership atmosphere. Containing critical information about the underlying habits of human behavior, these various theories influence leadership and leaders in a variety of ways. Erving Goffman, a Canadian born sociologist and writer, is considered to be the most influential American sociologist of the twentieth century. Best known for his work in dramaturgical analysis, Goffman not only had vital influences upon the research in social theories but also published his most widely known book The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. Originally published in 1956, this book portrays the importance of human interaction by using the imagery of the theatre. The influence sociologist developed the concept of dramaturgy, the idea that life is like a never ending play in which people are actors. Goffman finds that, when attempting to give others a particular perception of their self, humans tend to change his or her appearance or manner. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Surprised By Hope Analysis In the book Surprised by Hope by N. T. Wright, he discusses salvation, the new creation, what our bodies will be like after Christ returns. Will the heavens come down to earth or will humans go up to heaven? These are all points that Christians need to ask themselves and begin to think about. He lays these topics out in clear, concise ways so the reader can comprehend what his points are. All throughout his book, the theme of a new heavenand new earth are constantly being thrown around. Wright uses Philippians 3:20 that says, But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord JesusChrist to back up his claim that ... (he) will come from heaven to earth, to change the present situation and state of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Wright, they will be immortal. He puts it like this, In particular, this new body will be immortal. That is, it will have passed beyond death not just in the temporal sense but also the ontological sense of no longer being subject to sickness, injury, decay, and death itself (160) This means that we are going to have stronger, healthier, more perfect bodies that God will give us as a gift of love. We may not even look the same, something will be different about our bodies. In fact, when Jesus was resurrected from the dead the disciples did not recognize him. This was a man whom they had worked for years with and for, yet they did not recognize him in the new body. Wright claims that this immorality is different than the common idea of immorality. He says that people believe immorality has to do with souls, not bodies. After I read this, I immediately disagreed with that, because I have only thought of immorality of souls living forever, not bodies. After I had thought over this statement a bit more, I found myself agreeing with it. In fact, 2 Corinthians 5:4 says, While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. I knew that verse, yet I still never made the connections in my head. While our earthly bodies do not go up to heaven, I believe our souls do until the Lord returns and then we will be raised with our new bodies. If we die before the Lord returns, then we will be with the Lord in heaven, yet not complete until he returns to the earth. One thing that Wright says that I do not agree with is, ...immortality is something that only God possesses by nature and that then he shares, as a gift of grace rather than an innate possession, with his people (161). I believe that everyone will live forever, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Ending of White Minority and Nelson Mandela Essay The Ending of White Minority and Nelson Mandela In 1948, the Apartheid system officially started. A Dr. Malan introduced it. He established the structure of Apartheid because he exclaimed different races could not live amongst each other in harmony and needed to live separately. Some might argue it was because he wanted to secure the supposed superiority of the White minority. It ended within 50 year of starting. This essay is going to explain how Nelson Mandela, once just a member of a small Black tribe in the depth of South Africa, fought Apartheid to become a worldwide figurehead for non Whites, the first Black president of South Africa, in 1994. It will also explain to what extent his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drastic times lead to drastic measures, so Mandela sought temporary refuge in neighbouring countries, ruled by Blacks to set up militia groups. Mandela study military tactics for a long time and used that knowledge to train his group to sabotage electricity supplies for White neighbourhoods, strike government buildings and cause a general disruption for the Whites. But in 1962, on Mandela s return to South Africa, he was arrested. This is a key factor in which opinion disagrees with Mandela solely ending Apartheid. When arrested he was sent to a high security prison on Robben Island, off the coastline of South Africa, for 26 years. Although, in response, others feel Mandela was a figurehead who inspired other Blacks to fight for their cause. Also he receives credibility for the awareness around the world at the time. After Mandela s release he became president of South Africa in 1994, and with help from his White deputy, de Klark, managed to dismantle the Apartheid state. When Mandela took refuge it was at a time when a trend swept across the continent of Africa. During the late 50s and throughout the 60s, the White colonies that ruled over 30 countries in Africa gave independence to the Black peoples of the countries. This allowed Black people to govern themselves. The trend seamed to spread from North to South Africa from Libya, in the North in 1951 through to Egypt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Video Games Should Be Legal Violent video games have been a source of controversy since 1976. Though there are many issues surrounding these games, there is one that is quite fickle: whether or not the descriptions for violent video games should be more thorough and if parents or adults should be able to purchase violent video games for minors. There should be more descriptive ratings and adults should not be allowed to buy video games for minors, because the ratings and descriptions now are not very thorough, and minors can still get access even though regulations have been put in place. Violence and other inappropriate material has been a pinnacle of popular video games over time. For most a video game is just that, a game, but for others and those in the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One important instance in video game history was the formation of the ESRB. That is the Entertainment Software Rating Board and they are responsible for giving video games ratings based on what is in them. This was formed due to Congressional hearing in 1993 where the main focus was two controversial video games. It was formed to deflect potential video game regulation by the government as its own entity (NCAC). This allowed for the very controversial game Mortal Kombat to stay in stores. This was a fighting game that was the first to feature real lifelike violence. It not only featured blood and gore, but also more realistic looking characters. The premise of the game was, the player would pick a character and fight other characters to the death, whichever character won gained the ability to perform a finishing move that was very brutal and involved some form of mutilation to the other character. This was the main aspect that had people in uproar. Though due to the formation of the ESRB Mortal Kombat remained in stores. After the formation of the ESRB, there were still instances of uproar over video game violence. In 1997 Jack Thompson files the first of many lawsuits that claims violent video games are responsible for violence in teens (NCAC). This suit was brought about due to the shooting that happened at Heath High School that year. Though the biggest action taken against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Job Enrichment And An Organization Job enrichment can be defined as the process by which jobs are redesigned for workers so that they can be in control of their duties and also perform more tasks to develop personal skills. An important aspect of job enrichment is job redesign and it deals with the modification of the tasks assigned to workers in an organization. The case study that will be analyzed for Job enrichment theory in this paper is the expanded HIM functions. In order to fully employ Job enrichment in an organization, the motivational goals must be put in place. Goal setting is a medium in which managers can help to motivate workers to be more efficient while performing their tasks. While redesigning jobs for HIS department workers, the SMART goal setting principles was applied. The Smart goal is the acronym for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. All these characteristics are evident in the goals, cut out by the management of the HIS department in the bid of motivating the workers and increasing productivity. HIS set its goals in four levels, the engineering goals, restructuring goals, work redesign goals and job redesign goals. The engineering goals were set to analyze the visions, regulations and organizational structure. The restructuring goals will reevaluate the organizational structure. Work redesign goals also reevaluate the tasks assigned to the workers and the job redesign were set to remove, add or restructure the tasks assigned to the workers. The goals set was ... • 7. The Sins of Yesterday Essays He opened the door to the diner and stepped inside. The door slammed shut behind him. It always did that. It was probably the reason why the pane of glass had a jagged crack running from top to bottom. The crack had been there for as long as he could remember. It was a comfortable reminder of why he came here: no one cared here. He sat in the same place he always sat: a booth in the back near the bathroom. Dorothy, the only waitress this hole in the wall had to offer, acknowledged him with a grunt and asked if he wanted anything. Just a cup of coffeeand some pancakes, please. She oinked with indifference and waddled to the kitchen to put in the order. He watched her pour coffee that probably originated from the same batch he ordered... Nick the cook sat at the booth opposite the room from him, reading a newspaper and smoking a cigar. Nick wasn t a small man by any means, but he was a piglet to Dorothy s mother sow. The acrid smoke from his cigar said it was a Carajo, a cheap brand. His grizzled face, squinted eyes, and balding head made him look a lot older than he knew him to be. Nick s pale t shirt and threadbare, faded jeans looked like they were present at the same food explosion Dorothy must have survived, but neither one seemed to notice. People came here to eat cheap food and try to escape their problems, not admire the view. Nick mopped sweat from his brow with his greasy shirt sleeve, and turned the page. There were two other people in the diner, both customers. He had not seen them before, and he could almost say with certainty that he would not see them in this place again. They were of no consequence. Most people who came in here for the first time left without coming back. It must be the food , he chuckled to himself. He had been coming to this diner for most of his adult life, though it wasn t for the food or the service. The food was sub par and the service was worse. • 8. Evaluation Essay On Shrek Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I did to prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield because he is awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch. After I had chosen my topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant Shrek face with smaller faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside Shrek. Then, I began writing my outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times twice in class and twice outside of class. It was during my practice outside of class that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a speech that would last over four minutes just from my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what I was going to say, word for word, and attempted to memorize it, but that didn t go as planned.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most of them, which was a good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were times that I was left trying to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the performance slightly, even though I don t believe it was that big of a deal. I also made a pun by ending my speech with My speech is all ogre now and very few people caught it. This was probably due to my poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Proximally (and running down most the length of the femur) is the longus component (VML). Distally the VM attaches to the medial boarder of the patella bone over the knee joint. VM is innervated by the femoral nerve, as with the rest of the quadriceps group. Although there are no related negative impacts due to the execution of this project, there is still a huge challenge in delivering water to the population. One of the main issues of this is that the government is centralized and the agency responsible for managing water infrastructure cannot delegate this responsibility to municipalities. One way through which the World Bank could have improved this is by instead of giving technical advice to a central entity, they trained and loaned money to municipalities. What started out as a form of currency has now turned into a symbol of love and commitment. In the United States alone, the consumption rate of chocolate is steadily increasing. This is not surprising as Valentine s Day brings in more than 50.8 million pounds of chocolate in just one week. Yet, with numbers like that the United States fails to rank in the top 10 countries for chocolate consumption worldwide. Obtaining the sweet chocolate that we all love requires a precise yet complex process. The early stages of making chocolate are done by children, mostly ages 12 to 16, who have been captured and trafficked. These children have been taken from their families in countries such Mali and Burkina Faso and sold to cocoa farms. The children undergo terrible working conditions which exposes them to harsh chemicals. Some are often the victims of mental, physical and or sexual abuse. (Huschke 2011) Kantianism refers to our ability to make moral decisions without the use of emotions of feelings. (Nall 69) When thinking in terms of this theory, one should be able to put their feelings aside in order to look at the situation in a rational perspective. The main idea is to be able to view a situation through a universal lens. When applying this theory to the chocolate industry, one would look at the situation as if it were a small child being enslaved or an adult. Everyone should be treated as if they are worth something rather than be used for someone else s personal gain. If chocolate consumers implied the Kantian theory to the production industry of chocolate, they would need to act for the sake of duty without implementing their emotions. A View From The Bridge Analysis In the play A View From The Bridge The protagonist Eddie, an Italian immigrant, seems to have complex relationship with who seems to be his wife s orphaned niece Catherine throughout the whole play. At the beginning of Act 1, Catherine and Eddie appeared to have an authoritative father and a compliant daughter like relationship. Come over here. This command clearly highlights how demanding and authoritative Eddie is with Catherine. The imperative verb Come illustrates how Eddie sees himself as the man of the house, therefore he should be in control over everything, and everything living under his roof should obey and respect him. The adverb here demonstrates that Eddie expects Catherine to do as she s told, clearly indicating his control and how authoritative he is over Catherine. What do you want me to do ? This question signifies how Catherine will change anything just to keep Eddie satisfied even if she disagrees with it. The second personal pronoun you reflects how important Eddies opinion is to Catherine. How she will yield to every demand coming out of his mouth as back in the 1950s the man was the on who controls the household and makes all the decisions, which is one of the reasons why Catherine is so complaint towards him in their relationship. He invites the reader to gain insight into the need for solidarity in our world. With this quest for solidarity, Gregory Boyle invites the reader to develop compassion, to alter the margins, and to gain understanding of unconditional no matter whatness, love. To begin, Boyle focuses his novel most prominently on the quest for solidarity. Solidarity, as defined by Boyle, is relating to someone on a human level and attempting to understand their system and how they were shaped and limited by it. To gain solidarity a person must have compassion. Compassion and solidarity go hand in hand to change structure and experience, altering the margins. Boyle says, Compassion is always, at its most authentic, about a shift from the camped world of self preoccupation into a more expansive place of fellowship, of true kinship (77). Compassion is the bridge to solidarity. In this section Boyle tells the story of Julian and Matteo and their experience attending a talk in Montana. Their time in Montana opened up a new world for them, as the people they spoke to offered them their compassion and stood by them in solidarity. Julian and Matteo were shown a breech in the margins that held them back and the ability of others to embrace solidarity. Boyle states, There is a brand new, palpable sense of solidarity among equals, a beloved community. Tattoos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In regards to personality, at first glance, it may seem impossible to collect quantitative data. However, as the text book points there are LOTS of ways to collect personality data. LOTS is an acronym for L data, life record data, O data, observer data, T data, test data, and S data, self report data (Cervone Pervin, 2013). So in fact there are scientific ways to collect data on personality. As an undergraduate psychologystudent pursuing a degree in psychology, it is important for me to not only understand the different methods when doing research in the field of psychology, as well as recognizing which method works best for the research being conducted. Being able to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major problem with observational data is collecting data without the individual or individuals of interest noticing the observer. If spotted, the individuals of interest may behave differently than in a true naturalistic setting. T data relies on experiments to collect data. The advantage of using this method of data collection is that the experimenters have control over the variables being measured, they can chose which expressed personality characteristics they want to measure and select the participants they want. Another advantage of using T data is that unlike correlational data, T data can support causality between two or more variables. While experimental data may be the most supportive, it is also more challenging to conduct. Experiments require more resources such as money and personnel, which can limit smaller institutions and psychologists with limited resources from using T data. In addition to the cost and personnel to run the experiment, it also takes more time to conduct because the researchers must find enough participants to make the sample size relevant enough to generalize the results back to the population. S data is one of the more popular methods for collecting data because of its convenience and cost. The cost of producing and administering self report material is significantly less than T data for instance. Additionally, it is more convenient to administer due to the ease of being able to ... Yeast Respiration Lab Report The experiment was conducted in order to compare the rate of respiration in yeast when it is exposed to different types of sugars, using a method of measuring gas production. Five cuvettes were labeled, each containing a different sugar solution along with yeast. In the first cuvette, it was filled with a sucrose solution. The second test tube contained lactose and the third accommodated fructose. Then, the fourth cuvette was comprised of glucose and the last cuvette encompassed D.I water. Each of the solutions were then put into a 37 degree celsius incubator for an hour in order to obtain data. The hypothesis stated was, if rate of respiration in yeastis related to being exposed to different types of sugar solutions, then the yeast solution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, the fructose solution generated 5 mm of carbon dioxide and the D.I water had 4 mm inside the cuvette. Finally, the glucose solution induced 19 mm of carbon dioxide, by far the most amount generated. From this, the hypothesis can be seen as supported since glucose produced the most amount out of all the other sugars that yeast was exposed to. We know this because yeast undergoes alcohol fermentation in order to continue the breakdown of pyruvic acid without the presence of oxygen, and carbon dioxide is a product of this type of anaerobic respiration. So, the more carbon dioxide produced, the more the rate of respiration increases. The noticeable differences between the test tubes can be explained by the the chemical body of each different type of sugar. Enzymes in yeast are programmed to transmit the molecule glucose through the membrane of their cells in order to undergo cellular respiration with the simple carbohydrate, and not any other type of sugar. Because of this, the yeast solution mixed with glucose produced the most carbon dioxide. But, the lactose and sucrose solutions still produced a solid amount of carbon ... The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast two theorists on how children learn and develop and how their theories work in the early years setting. Piaget and Skinner are both very well known for their theories, they contrast each other as one shows the behaviourist view while the other shows the cognitive view. Piaget is a nativist, he believes that children learn best through active learning, doing for themselves. Whereas Skinner is an empiricist he believes that children s knowledge is learnt from their sense experience and environment. Jean Piaget was born on 9th August 1896 in Switzerland. He studied natural sciences at the University of Neuchatel where he received a Ph.D. He then went onto the University of Zurich where he became interested in psychoanalysis. It was from there he went onto the Sorbonne University in Paris in 1919 to study clinical psychology. It was while Piaget was in Paris that he began working with Alfred Binet marking intelligence tests. It was whilst working on the intelligence tests that he became aware of the process of cognitive development and how it differed considerably from young children to older children to adults. It was from this that he then began his study on the process of thinking in the development of children. (The famous people, 2016) He constructed his theory from observing his children, it was from these observations that he established his four stages of development and schemas; schemas are a set of ideas that ... • 46. What Is The Verbiage Of The Magna Carta The original Magna Carta signed by King John under the pressure of the English barons on June 15, 1215, marked an immeasurable change in the law in regards to the power of the sovereign in England. While that first draft was only in use for a short time, the subsequent drafts and additions by medieval and early modern kings and queens influenced law in continental Europe and the Americas. The ideas outlined in the original charter contain not only medieval material but ideas, perhaps not explicitly named, that are still prevalent and fundamental rights that Americans and citizens of the United Kingdom continue to relish today. Ideas such as due process, trial by a jury of peers, and even the origins of habeas corpusare found within the 61 clauses of this 800 year old document. Clauses 39 and 40 represent those three fundamental, essential rights that cannot and should not be deprived. The Magna Cartaand its articulation of due process before the law, trial by a jury of peers, and habeas corpus were meant as a means of infringing on the power of the tyrannical sovereign and it sparked the fight for personal liberties in England and the American Colonies and in doing so has become a staple of Common Law. Studying the verbiage of the Magna Carta is important, but the background and reasons for its creation dictate how its original meaning can be interpreted by a modern scholar. The Battle of Bouvines and the loss of England s landholdings in France was a catalyst for the creation of the Magna Carta, but Henry II and King John had made decisions that had royally angered the barons long before 1214. Throughout John s reign, the barons felt an increase in feudal obligations: they were forced to provide more soldiers, take more subtenants, marry into undesirable alliances, and their feudal courts power was being usurped by the royal courts and chancery. King John had been excommunicated for not agreeing with Pope Innocent III s candidate for Archbishop of Canterbury, and in doing so excommunicated the subjects of England. Combine all of those issues with losing the duchies held by the Angevin Kings, and quite reasonably, there would be anger. In a society where land is the cornerstone to profit and ... Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting, the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First, SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which transmitted along with the low frequency band.
