Art Museum Analysis
When walking into the freshly built art museum of West Virginia University one can automatically
feel a sense of serenity. The spacing of the art pieces and the way the light hit them makes you want to
take your time and examine every detail each work has to offer. It gives you no other choice but to
give your full, undivided attention to one piece at a time. The way this museum was designed made it
so I almost forgot about the rest of my day. Where I had to be later, what class I had, when I had to be
in for work, all of those everyday thoughts and worries seemed to disappear when walking through
those doors.
The piece that really stood out to me was a work by Thomas Cole. Cole s piece caught my eye due to
the simplicity of it. He took something as simple as a landscape and made it extremely detailed and
organic. If you take the time to look closely you can almost see where he made each individual brush
stroke. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though those seem to be bold, you can see the delicate detail put into each section making the piece
flow beautifully. His strokes are smooth, yet uneven, giving the piece an interesting twist. The
background offers a somewhat ominous sky, using what seems to be only whites and greys. The
background seems to be the most muted part of the piece whereas the middle ground really grabs your
attention with its vibrant colors. Cole uses yellow and muted brown to pop against the hues of green in
the trees. These pops of color among the tree scape really make this the focal point of the piece. The
foreground offers a very earthy feel with a simplistic pasture. Broken colors of green and brown are
used to display the ongoing naturalistic feel this work displays. Towards the right of the piece you can
see some sort of animal. Cole being a famous American landscape artist would make it only obvious
to have animals in some of his

Introduction
Consuming alcohol during pregnancy results in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The spectrum of FAS

Stem cell lines were derived from Mus musculus castaneus x Mus musculus (C57Black6) F1 embryos,
because polymorphism between these strains allow for the examination of mono allelic patterns of
epigenetic marks and gene expression within loci is regulated by genomic imprinting. Cells were
grown on Mytomycin C treated feeder mouse fibroblast layer, then moved to a feeder free system.
Embryonic stem cells (ES) were used to test the stability of the candidate gene during differentiation,
Trophectoderm stem cells (TS) were used to test ethanol exposure on placentation, and Neurosphere
stem cells were used to model neuroblast migration from their germinal zones to colonize brain
development in in vitro. Cells were cultured to an 80% confluence and dissociated with 1xTrypsin. All
cells, except control group, were cultures with ethanol at varying concentrations of: 60mg/dL,
120mg/dL, and 320mg/dL. Cells were extracted at each stage of neurosphere differentiation. Total
RNA was isolated using the Trizol method for 4 independent experimental replicates. The samples
were then DNased using DNaseI and made into 4 independent cDNA reactions using the reverse
transcription kit, SuperScriptII, and random hexamer oligonucleotides. Quantitative real time PCR
was performed using DyNAmo Flash SYBR Green qPCR Mastermix on a 7500 Fast Real Time PCR
System from Applied Biosystems in 3 independent reactions measuring the candidate genes in

Pharmacist Prescribing History
History of Pharmacist Prescribing
Pharmacist independent prescribing has taken years of planning, review, and discussion, and it has
been a long fought journey from the early days of the 1980s when there has been a trend towards
increasing deregulations of prescription only medicines (POMs) to pharmacy only medicines (P
medicines) or general sale list (GSL) status for pharmacists counter prescribing role in pharmacies and
general retail outlets (Blenkinsopp A Bradley C, 1996) to we are today in the position where
pharmacists are able to prescribe for patients they have assessed and diagnosed independently.
The first Crown Report published in April 1998 (DoH, 1998) raises the awareness of an unsatisfactory
level on clarity of responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these negative notions, the extension of pharmacist prescribing has nowadays been perceived
as generally positive with attitude shifts of health care professionals on pharmacist independent
prescribing, supporting by approximately 35% shift of service delivery from doctors to pharmacists in

patients with 87% of patients are satisfied with the consultation with their PIPs (Latter et al.,

Because of antioxidants content, Green Ox is a functional drink that is truly different from its

Palmer Jackson realizes that product, price distribution, and promotion decisions for Green Ox all rely
on the decisions they make, that all four of the P decisions are tangled and depend on each other. They

All Seven Deadly Sins Committed At Church Bake Sale
The deadly sins that are committed so easily we don t even consider them deadly any longer. Sins such
as Pride, lust, and gluttony. The Catholic Church teaches us that there are seven deadly sins, greed,
sloth, envy, lust, gluttony, pride, and wrath. According to the satirical newspaper The Onion s short
article All Seven Deadly Sins Committed at Church Bake Sale, these sins are so frequently perpetrated
in everyday society that even a holy church function is unable to go without. The author mentions, In
total, 347 individual acts of sin were committed at the bake sale, with nearly every attendee
committing at least one of the seven deadly sins... (201)
The sin of pride. A sin we all carry out daily. Whether it be the proud parent whose child made the
honor roll and Flaunts that fact with a bumper sticker on their Toyota Camry, or even the Essex county
college student who displays their school spirit around campus. The sin of pride is so consistently
committed, it s become more second nature and less described a sin. The short article provides a
plethora of examples depicting pride at the church bake sale. For one, the author states that one vendor
pronounced, sometimes, even I m amazed by how well my goodies turn out. (201) Confirming to the

Lust is a sin that can be committed in one thought as well as openly for the public to see. The
simplicity of this sin makes us perform the sin every day. From an envious gaze at a neighbor s new
car to openly liking Beyoncé s new bikini picture on Instagram. Lust is all around us. Now you would
think a sin like this would be the only one avoided by anything having to do with a church. However,
based on the account by the author you would be mistaken. The author loosely states that all the men
at the bake sale ogled new church member Melissa Wyckoff. (202) While the women lusted over,

Stricter Dress Code
Dress codes have always been taken into great consideration, but now they are becoming an immense
part of school requirements. For years, some schools have created stricter dress code rules, while
others have made more accessible rules. Part of the administration considers shaping a stricter dress
code, but others disagree. Yes, students should continue to make smart choices about their clothing,
but a stricter dress code would only result in more problems. We should have our original dress code
remain and not make any changes to it because it would restrict students from expressing their
feelings, and some dress code rules can be sexist toward girls.
To begin with, for people of all ages, fashion is a way that they can easily express

The, And, Clothing, Leather And Tweed
Of particular interest, and a perfect piece to fit the genre, with two holes on both sides, and grommets
encircling the cutouts, is a white shift dress. While this dress is not what one would call wearable, it
certainly makes a statement, and one that Courrèges made well. Sensible women probably would not
have worn this dress due to the cutout placement unless they were in favor of foregoing their
undergarments. Courrèges utilized vinyl, pvc, leather, and an aggregate of burnished materials in order
to create his vision which supplemented his modern, futuristic vision. His cloth of choice was
gabardine, wool, and tweed. His background in architecture lent to his attention to detail and his
dedication to construction. While André Courrèges was gaining the praises of the masses, other
designers were forging ahead on the same path. Paco Rabanne also gained his fashion footing at
Balenciaga, however he also worked for Dior and Givenchy. Perhaps fashion was in his blood
considering his mother was previously the lead seamstress at Balenciaga. With his first manifesto
collection, 12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials, it was obvious that Rabanne was not
an conventional designer, nor was he quick to fade into the background and dissolve into fashion
history. In a world where men had dominance and women were contending for even a meager slice of
that, Rabanne was a savior of sorts. He once stated that, The woman of tomorrow will be efficacious,

Improving the ISO Rating of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department
Introduction
In 2012, Insurance Services Office (ISO) conducted a review of the fire suppression capabilities of the
Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department (CBFD). The resulting Public Protection Classification (PPC)
was a Class 2. This classification puts the CBFD into the top 1% of the approximately 49,000 fire
departments ISO reviews. In an effort to maintain the highest level of service to the public, the current
fire administration has established an organizational goal of achieving a Class 1 designation. The
problem is that the CBFD has not developed a comprehensive plan to improve the department ISO
rating. In order to develop a plan, research is needed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Background and Significance The Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department was formed on January 5,
1883 by resolution of the city council to establish a full time, paid department. Prior to 1883, the
citizens of Council Bluffs had been protected from fire by several different volunteer fire companies.
The first such company, known as Hook Ladder 1, was formed after a conflagration destroyed most of
the town on November 14, 1854 (Petersen, 1992). Between 1854 and 1883, the department grew in
size, purchasing steam pumpers in 1868 and 1880. The city grew as well, expanding from a population
of 2,011 in 1860 to 18,063 in 1880. In 1918, the firemen of the CBFD organized and became a charter
member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Local 15. This is an affiliation that
the labor force of the CBFD still maintains today. On April 5, 1920, the CBFD began a two platoon
system with day and night shifts. Ten new firemen were hired bringing the total staffing to 36 men
working out of five stations. As the city continued to grow the fire department updated and broadened
the footprint of its fire stations. In 1942, a new Fire Station 2 was built

Cloud Computing Services
The popularity of mobile system with the headway in engineering, with the increment of Internet
utilization, comprehensively reinvent the old idea of network computing system, to the new buzzword
Cloud computing . Cloud computing is a link way to the usage of Cloud which process by transmitting
and receiving files in utilizing Internet. Most systems uses either of the three major models of cloud
computing services on the market, which are software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service
(PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
SaaS is an application level cloud service that provides interface software and database. User simply
accesses the software running on the back end server of the cloud clients such as web browsers,
emulators and mobile web browser, and use the services. The best example of this services is a web
based email service. Users are able to send or receive emails from web browser remotely without
installing or running email software on his/her device. The essential software are running on the Cloud
Computer which allow user to access the desire resources from any supported devices.
PaaS is a platform level cloud service that provide an operating system, database and web server, in
which the developers build the applications using different software development tools and to run on a
cloud platform. The example of this service can be seen on Google App Engine hosted by Google.

The Principle Two
2. Principle two Overcoming FEAR
Our second principle for better self empowerment is the overcoming of fear in general. Fear is a part
of our lives. It appears when we are uncertain or faced with something new. It is natural to feel this
way, but it can become a problem when it rules our every decision. If for instance, the fear of failing a
job interview keeps you indoors and miserable, then there s a serious problem here. So, what is fear?
Well, fear can be described as an uncomfortable emotion caused by the strong impression that a
person or an object is harmful, capable of causing pain, or a poses threat. In other words, the fear of
something or somebody is something that can easily threaten your wellbeing.
It s one thing to be scared of something new, or scared because you feel you re being threatened, but it
is a problem if you use fear to make excuses for your failures in life. For instance, you have people
saying huh, I don t want to go and work overseas because I m scared of people who don t speak the
same language as me . And people like that almost never get out of the country. They spend their
holidays here in the states as well as their honeymoon and would rather let their fear dictate their
conduct. One may think that this type of fear may be justified with all the insecurity happening all
over the world and that we shouldn t blame people who think like that. But, when you think about it,
making excuses for things that are simple, like refusing to take a

Enslavement Of The Slave Movement
Enslavement Resistance
Slave resistance began for many enslaved Africans before they reach the Americas. Karenga explained
the many arrangements in which Africans resisted to enslavement, while in Africa, during the middle
passage, and in the Americas. Employing the Karenga text one can evaluate the different resistances
that transpired in Antigua as Cultural, Resistance, Day to Day Resistance, Abolitionism, Armed
Resistance, Revolts, Ship Mutinies, and Afro Native Alliance. One can conclude that enslaved
Africans had an unrelenting resistance to enslavement (Karenga).
There is evidence that confirms enslaved Africans were able to execute successful ship mutinies, while
at sea, and control their destiny by establishing maroon societies wherever they landed in the
Caribbean. These maroon societies would later act as sanctuaries for escaped slaves throughout the
Caribbean. In Antigua, one prominent maroon society was located around the summit of Antigua s
extinct volcano, Boggy Peak now known as Mount Obama (Dash). Maroon societies allowed groups
of escaped slaves and their descendants to maintain a free community in close proximity of society,
but independent of European influence. Maroon communities developed their own distinctive cultures.
Since most maroon communities were founded by African born people, they incorporated and
preserved many aspects of African culture, including language, religious practices, and craft styles
(Jaede). All maroon communities lived in

Brazil and Mexico are two emerging markets that are becoming increasingly prevalent and influential
on the international stage. These nations share many similarities. Both are newly industrialized

It has a comprehensive legal structure dividing powers among the federal, state and municipal levels.
However, its rigid and complex regulatory laws pose significant barriers for start up businesses. In
Brazil, the average time needed to start a business is 120 days, compared to a regional average of 56.7
days. Furthermore, it takes an average of 14 days to register property in Brazil, while the regional
average is 6.8 days. This means that on average, starting a business and registering property in Brazil
takes twice as long as it would in other Latin American and Caribbean states (Datamonitor, 2011a).
Brazil s implementation of the VAT tax system also has its flaws; the latest Latin Tax Index designated
it the worst tax regime in Latin America (Datamonitor, 2011a).
Cultural Analysis
Brazil is a highly diverse and multicultural nation, consisting mostly of Native Americans, Portuguese,
and Africans. In the late 19th and early 20th century, many immigrants from Italy, Germany and Japan
migrated into the South American nation, which resulted in a multicultural and multi ethnic society
(Culture of Brazil, 2012). Because Brazil was originally a Portuguese colony for nearly three
centuries, many aspects of Brazilian culture is derived from Portuguese culture. The Portuguese
language and architectural style are examples of things that indicate a strong Portuguese influence
(Culture of Brazil, 2012).
Portuguese is spoken by nearly 99%

centers around an important theme; that personal discoveries and life experiences help a person find

A Look Into Abortion s History
A Look Into Abortion s History Prior to 1970 abortions were illegal in the United States. It was then
when the now popular Roe v. Wade case took place which saw the Supreme Court make any laws
regarding the prevention of early stage abortions unconstitutional. An abortion can be defined as an
early termination of an unwanted pregnancy. As a topic of controversy there are many aspects of
abortion that are constantly being debated. For example, moral and legal obligations, support from
federal and state funding and the debate of whether there has been a decline in abortions since its
legalization, are amongst the main issues surrounding this topic. During Roe v. Wade the Supreme
Court ruled 7 2 votes in favor of it being the women s decision to abort under the 14th Amendment.
This was an enormous step towards women s control over their parental right. According to the
American Journal of Public Health, after Roe provisions moved from hospitals to non hospitals
clinics. This saw the percentage of abortions performed at non hospital clinics rise from 51% in early
1974 to 61% in 1976 and reached 95% in 2008 (Aksel, Fein, Kettener, Young Backus, 2013). Many
argued that women were no longer going to the black market for abortions but rather seeking
professional help at safe places. This decision was a huge victory for the Pro Choice movement. The
Pro Choice movement supports the statement that it should be up to the mother to decided whether to
have an abortion or not.

Plea Bargaining In Criminal Justice
I did not watch the film, Criminal Justice: Nothing Cuts Deeper, but I thought you both brought up
interesting points about plea bargaining in your analyses. I did not realize that plea bargains were as
common as they are until Crystal pointed out that in 1989, less than 2% took their cases to trial. That
is a shockingly low number! Abraham also pointed out that this means that defendants are waiving
important rights, protected by the Fifth and Sixth Amendments: the right to a jury trial, the right
against self incrimination, and the right to confront hostile witnesses. As far as I understand, the
foundations of the American criminal justice process are built around these essential rights! In reality,
very few people have faith in and are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the trial is meant to achieve either determining guilt and issuing appropriate punishment for the
crime and to prevent innocent people from being punished for a crime that they did not commit.
Stephanos Bibas, a professor of Law and Criminology argues that everyone trusted that trials
remained as safety valves whenever guilt was in real doubt. The vast majority of defendants are
factually and legally guilty, but surely, we assumed, those who are innocent would persist to vindicate
their names at trial. Unfortunately, because of pressures by the prosecution and fears of long, harsh
sentences, poorly informed, poorly educated, and poorly represented defendants are far from the fully
informed, rational actors. (Bibas, 2016). This means that some innocent people are taking a plea
bargain for fear of greater punishment, even if they did not actually commit the crime. They have so
little faith in the process of a trial working correctly that they feel it better to agree to a lesser
punishment despite their innocence. Whether their lack of faith in the trial process is warranted or not,
this signifies that there is something fundamentally wrong with the criminal justice

Effects Of Divorce On The Workplace

Effects of Divorce
On average in America 45 percent of marriages end in divorce. Divorce does not only affect the
parties involved; it also affects the children involved. In America, 40 percent of children will see and
experience divorce first hand alongside of their parents. Divorce is one of the most stressful events a
family can undergo. On average, 80 percent of children will be placed in the primary care of one
parent. Often times the parent that receives primary custody of the child or children are the biological
mother (Hopf, Sarah Marie). Divorce has many effects on different factors of a children s lives. Many
children are affected by divorce: divorce effects: 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Divorce in turn also negatively impacts the children s education. Children often have a set schedule of
when they will be at their mother s home, and when they will be at their father s home. When children
have to go back and forth between two homes they often experience a fall in their overall grades.
When children are going from one home to the next, they often have a hard time adjusting to the
different environments of the homes. This can make it difficult for the children to study or complete
their academic materials (Fagan Patrick F., and Robert Rector). Studies show children who have
divorced parents are twice as likely to repeat a grade or grades. The children are also five times more
likely to be expelled or suspended from school. They are twice as likely to drop out of high school,
which makes it less likely for them to attend college (Effects of Divorce on Children s Education).
Divorce also has a negative impact on a family s income. Children who have married parents, who
both work, have an average income of about $43,600 a year. When children are in a divorced family
with only one working parents, the family has an average income of about $25,300 a year. Families
who have faced divorce also face a higher risk of living in poverty. When a family is faced with
divorce the family will more than likely move into poverty due to the loss of one parent s income. On
average

Evolution Of The Internet And Network Protocols
The Evolution of the Internet and Network Protocols The internet has revolutionized the modern
world like no other invention has before, except perhaps, electricity. The internet allows sharing and
collaboration to take place between people on opposite sides of the globe. Vinton G. Cerf, often called
the Father of the Internet , admits that when the original idea of an intranet was in its infancy, there
was no possible way to imagine all of the ways we would come to use it (NDTV, 2013). But how does
it work? The internet, based on the concept of packet switching , involves the travelling of small
packets of data over one or more networks (Frenzel, 2013). This can be compared to electronic
postcards , meaning that a computer generates a piece of data and flings it into the net, just like the
postal system, except 100 million times faster (Cerf, 2013). This concept allows one computer to
speak to many different computers around the network by sending out these electronic postcards .
However, before these networks can work seamlessly together, they must use a common protocol, or
set of rules for transmitting and receiving these packets of data. There are several protocols currently
in use, including the OSI Model, the TCP/IP Model, UDP, HTTP, and FDP (Mitchell, 2014), but the
most commonly used is Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (Gilmer, 2011).
Even as early as 1977, TCP/IP was being used by other networks to link to ARPANET (Kozierok,

Mademoiselle Reisz In The Awakening
The Character of Mademoiselle Reisz in The Awakening nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; She was a disagreeable
little woman, no longer young, who had quarreled with almost everyone, owing to a temper which was
self assertive and a disposition to trample upon the rights of others. (25) This is how Kate Chopin
introduces the character of Mademoiselle Reisz into her novel, The Awakening. A character who,
because of the similarities she shares with Madame Pontellier, could represent the path Madame
Pontellier s life may have taken, had she survived old age. Mademoiselle Reisz is first introduced at a
party when she plays the piano for Edna Pontellier. Edna is described as being very fond of music.
(25) Music is described as having a way of evoking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another similarity between the two women is in regard to their taste in men. At one point in the novel,
Mademoiselle Reisz mentions that If I were young and in love with a man it seems to me he would
have to be some grand esprit; it seems to me if I were young and in love I should never deem a man of
ordinary caliber worthy of my devotion. (81) This definition of Mademoiselle s ideal love almost
perfectly matches that of Edna s. For Edna was searching for the same qualities within Robert; a
change, something that goes astray from the ordinary. Mr. Pontellier, her husband, was simply that,
ordinary, which she did not want. A third parallel seen through the relationship between Mademoiselle
Reisz and Madame Pontellier is their aversion to the water. Although Edna sees the sea as whispering,
clamoring, murmuring (and ) inviting, (13) toward the beginning of the novel, she is hesitant to
completely submerge herself in it. This can be logically explained in that she cannot swim. However,
she continues to walk along the shore and place her feet in the tide, but other than that, before she
learns to swim, that is the extent of her bathing experience. Mademoiselle Reisz is also described to
have some sort of physical aversion to the sea as well. This can be seen when she blatantly refuses to
follow Edna to the water claiming that she hasn t been in the surf all summer, and that to bathe in it at
the end of the season would be pointless. (48) Another key

The Importance Of Internet Censorship
The internet should not be censored for violent and sexual content. Parents should trust their children
and hold them to the honor system. Additionally, internet censorship may lead to a reduced amount of
creativity and collaboration. Internet censorship would affect the public immensely as it is a direct
violation of the public s right to express themselves in whatever manner they choose. Parents should
trust their children and hold them to the honor system when it comes to using public resources such as
the internet. Ideally, parents should not have to constantly worry about their children using the
internet. The reality of the situation is, parents do worry about everything their child might encounter
as a result of the evil in the world. However, parents ought to raise their children in a fashion where
they are consciously able to determine right from wrong within their decisions. Regardless of the
manner in which parents discipline their children, children will always be curious to explore the realm
of the internet whilst possibly encountering something inappropriate for their viewing. Consequently,
establishing an honor system between the parent and the child early on creates a mutual level of
understanding. Along with the establishment of trust, the parent is capable of frequently checking in
with the child in regards to the child s use of the internet. Furthermore, the parent should possess
absolute access to the child s source of the internet and be consistent in

How Factors in the External Business Environment Influence...
Using an organisation you are familiar with; explain how factors in the external business environment
influence marketing strategies and outcomes
Betfair betting exchange processes more than seven million transactions a day that s more than all
European stock exchanges combined. (Betfair, 2011) With this sentence we can observe the magnitude
and growth that an online gambling company like Betfair.com has achieved. To reach this point they
have dealt with many issues in their external environment and they have overcome these problems
through intelligence in their marketing strategies.
Marketing is the management process of anticipating, identifying and satisfying customer

What Betfair says is that these restrictions are against what customers want and that they lead to
market failure.
As Solomon et al (2009: 60) states ...global marketers must understand more complex political issues
that can affect how they do business and their potential for success . The German example is only one
of the many different legislations which Betfair have to deal with, therefore when they market their
products in one specific country they have to know perfectly what kind of services are prohibited in
those countries to avoid legal issues with governments and consumers. When deciding on
international expansion they also need a sensitive analysis of the legislation in that country as it might
not be profitable to operate there if either their gross profit tax is very high, or if many products like
online casino are banned, or if betting large amounts of money are prohibited.
When Betfair segment their market they might do it by geography. This is where the socio cultural
environment will affect their decisions and where a differentiated marketing strategy will be necessary
in each country. In many countries gambling is illegal and in more of them it is seen as evil because
people might get addicted and lose their resources via these betting companies, that is why ethics
becomes a topic of great importance to Betfair

Short Summary Of Eveline
A nearby perusing of Joyce s story
Eveline is one of the most limited stories that make up James Joyce s accumulation Dubliners (1914),
a volume that was not an underlying business achievement (it sold only 379 duplicates in its first year
of distribution, and 120 of those were purchased by Joyce himself). However Dubliners reclassified
the short story and is currently seen as an exemplary work of pioneer fiction, with each of its fifteen
short stories reimbursing close investigation. Eveline concentrates on a youthful Irish lady of nineteen
years old, who intends to abandon her damaging father and destitution stricken presence in Ireland,
and search out another, better life for herself and her darling Frank in Buenos Aires. You can read
Eveline here.
Initial, a concise rundown of Eveline . Eveline is a young lady living in Dublin with her dad. Her mom
is dead. Longing for a superior life past the shores of Ireland, Eveline wants to run off with Frank, a
mariner who is her mystery sweetheart (Eveline s dad having precluded Eveline to see Frank after the
two men dropped out), and begin another life in Argentina. With her mom gone, Eveline is in charge
of the everyday running of the family unit: her dad is tanked and just reluctantly tips up his offer of
the week after week housekeeping cash, and her sibling Harry is caught up with working and is away
a ton on business (another sibling, Ernest, has passed on). Eveline herself keeps down an occupation

Effects Of Alcohol On The Body s Organs And Brain Activity
Alcohol is a recreational drug which contains ethanol (Drugfreeworld.org, 2016), a depressant that
prolongs the messages from the brain to the body affecting the way one thinks, feels and behaves
(Alcoholthinkagain.com.au, 2014). Excessive alcohol consumption can have many negative effects on
the body s organs and brain activity. Major health problems such as cardiovascular disease, cirrhosis,
depression, gout and pancreatitis can occur as a result of consuming large quantities of alcohol and
have the potential to be fatal (Freeman, 2016). Binge Drinking is the act of consuming an excessive
amount of alcoholic beverages within a short period of time with intentions to become heavily
intoxicated (Dictionary.com,2014). Males in there 40 s and late 20 s are most likely to exceed the
recommended level of alcohol consumption and young women aged 18 24 are foreseen to excessively
drink alcoholic beverages (Nhmrc.gov.au, 2015). Adolescents aged 13 17 also engage in excessive
drinking although evoked due to observing others such as guardians, siblings and peers as well as the
existence of peer pressure to consume alcohol and appear socially acceptable. Binge Drinking will
have short term effects on the health of an individual leading to memory loss, vomiting and headaches
and long term effects such as anxiety, a variety of cancers and infertility (Knowyourlimits.info, 2013).
In Australia 15 individuals die from these alcohol related diseases and illnesses each day (Santow,
2014).

Examples Of Hashing Techniques
A Survey of Hashing Techniques and its Applicability for Efficient Buffer Cache Management
Abstract: Hashing is the convenient way to get access to an item based on the given key which is the
requirement for efficient buffer cache management. Static hashing provides fastest access to an object
at the cost of memory utilization, whereas sequential storage provides most efficient memory
utilization at the cost of access time. To provide balance between two extremes dynamic hashing
schemes are produced. The focus of this paper is to survey various dynamic hashing schemes with
perspective to use it in database buffer cache management. It includes dynamic hashing techniques
like Extendible hashing, Expandable Hashing, Spiral Storage, Linear ... Show more content on

Hashing has been one of the most effective tools commonly used to compress data for fast access and
analysis, as well as information integrity verification. Hashing techniques have also evolved from
simple randomization approaches to advanced adaptive methods considering locality, structure, label
information, and data security, for effective hashing [19]. The traditional, static, hashing schemes,
requires data storage space to be allocated statically, because of this it did not work well in a dynamic
environment. This meant that as the database grows over time, we have three options:
1. Choose hash function based on current file size. Get performance degradation as file grows.
2. Choose hash function based on anticipated file size. Space is wasted initially.
3. Periodically re organize hash structure as file grows. Requires selecting new hash function, re
computing all addresses and generating new bucket assignments which are very costly.
Some hashing techniques allow the hash function to be modified dynamically to accommodate the
growth or shrinking of the database. These are called dynamic hashing. To eliminate these problems,
dynamic hashing structures have been proposed.
Dynamic means that records are inserted into and deleted from the set, causing the size of the set to
vary [17]. By dynamic we mean that the number of buckets can increase or decrease, according to the

The Wolfpack Is A 2015 Documentary That Tells The Story Of...
The Wolfpack is a 2015 documentary that tells the story of the Angulo family, specifically the six
movie obsessed brothers, and their life in a tiny New York City apartment. The Angulo brothers, all
named by their Hare Krishna father for different iterations of the god Krishna, shared a six room
apartment with their parents and older sister, Visnu. Their tight knit relationship developed in part
from the isolation the family experienced during the boys childhood. During the film, they tell the
camera how their father had the only key to the apartment and controlled their excursions into the
outside world. Sometimes we got out once a year, says Mukunda Angulo, and one particular year we
never got out at all (The Wolfpack 2015). To compensate for this lack of interaction with the outside
world, the brothers turned to movies, watching thousands of films during the years they stayed inside
the apartment. Their story is unique and compelling. These brothers, despite or perhaps because of the
conditions they were raised in, developed a strength and resiliency that allows them to be surprisingly
well adjusted to modern American life. They now have Facebook pages and Instagram accounts,
friends, love interests, and some have picked up Americanized names (Krisna is now Glenn, and
Jagadisa goes by Eddie). The Wolfpack offers viewers a glimpse into their world, as filmmaker
Crystal Moselle was given unprecedented access to their apartment and their lives. Moselle has

Kenny Garrett is one of my favorite Alto saxophone players. He was born in Detroit, in 1960 and
started to play saxophone in his childhood since his father also played tenor sax. Kenny Garrett s
career as a saxophonist started early at the age of 17 with a saxophone spot in Mercer Ellington s

aspiring jazzers), and performing Charles Mingus music with Dannie Richmond Quartet. Garrett

his edgy and experimental, funky style.

The Soul Stays the Same in Plato
I think, Socrates, he said, that on this line of argument any man, even the dullest, would agree that the
soul is altogether more like that which always exists in the same state rather than like that which does
not (Plato, Phaedo 79e)
In this paper I will argue that the soul is not necessarily unchanging and eternal, as many of Plato s
arguments would suggest otherwise. The main reasons in support of this claim are that there are
questionable conclusions that Plato had reached that challenge the validity of his theory on immortal
souls. The Phaedo is one of Plato s greatest dialogues addressing the essence of the afterlife through a
discussion between Socrates and his students. Plato s main argument within the Phaedo is that there is

I mean such things as good and evil, just and unjust and there are innumerable other opposites which
are generated out of opposites. And I want to show that this holds universally of all opposites; I mean
to say, for example, that anything which becomes greater must become greater after being less. (Plato,
70d) In the dialogue Socrates established that everything is generated from its opposite so must have
an opposite. However, it is valid to question this by interpreting the opposite argument. If to say
everything has an opposite, would the opposite of existence be non existence? Existence is created
from non existence and non existence from existence. If this is true, than would not the existence of a
soul suggest that at some point the soul did not exist? Thus, it may be that the soul had a previous
existence but it does not definitively suggest that the soul is immortal and has no end. This is
somewhat related to Cebes argument that that soul may have existed through many bodies but may
eventually pass on. Plato fails to further explain the cycle of the soul. Socrates does not give detail on
when the cycle of the soul begins or how it may have started. Furthermore, if one relies on the
opposites argument for support of the immortal theory then one could consider that is there was a
beginning to the cycle of the soul than there would be some sort of end.
The Theory of Recollection also has some gaps in its logic

A Review Public And Private Waste Management

linking theories to realities. Habitat International, 28, 467 479.
In this article, Azam and Mansoor review public and private waste management sectors, and the
possibilities for partnership. By conducting a literature review, they conclude that the current isolated
arrangement in the industry should be replaced with a vertical integration between small scale
agencies and the public sector. The main limitation of the article is that it focuses developing countries
as a whole, thus the suggestion may not be applied in particular city due to the complexity of social
and political structure. This article is relevant to PLAN 440/674 because it discusses waste
management in developing countries.

  • 2. Art Museum Analysis When walking into the freshly built art museum of West Virginia University one can automatically feel a sense of serenity. The spacing of the art pieces and the way the light hit them makes you want to take your time and examine every detail each work has to offer. It gives you no other choice but to give your full, undivided attention to one piece at a time. The way this museum was designed made it so I almost forgot about the rest of my day. Where I had to be later, what class I had, when I had to be in for work, all of those everyday thoughts and worries seemed to disappear when walking through those doors. The piece that really stood out to me was a work by Thomas Cole. Cole s piece caught my eye due to the simplicity of it. He took something as simple as a landscape and made it extremely detailed and organic. If you take the time to look closely you can almost see where he made each individual brush stroke. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though those seem to be bold, you can see the delicate detail put into each section making the piece flow beautifully. His strokes are smooth, yet uneven, giving the piece an interesting twist. The background offers a somewhat ominous sky, using what seems to be only whites and greys. The background seems to be the most muted part of the piece whereas the middle ground really grabs your attention with its vibrant colors. Cole uses yellow and muted brown to pop against the hues of green in the trees. These pops of color among the tree scape really make this the focal point of the piece. The foreground offers a very earthy feel with a simplistic pasture. Broken colors of green and brown are used to display the ongoing naturalistic feel this work displays. Towards the right of the piece you can see some sort of animal. Cole being a famous American landscape artist would make it only obvious to have animals in some of his ... Identification of cell specific patterns of reference gene stability in quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction studies of embryonic, placental and neural stem models of prenatal ethanol exposure. Alcohol. 2013; 47 (2): 109 120. Introduction Consuming alcohol during pregnancy results in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The spectrum of FAS ranges from barely detectable to severe functional and cognitive birth defects. Molecular Methods Stem cell lines were derived from Mus musculus castaneus x Mus musculus (C57Black6) F1 embryos, because polymorphism between these strains allow for the examination of mono allelic patterns of epigenetic marks and gene expression within loci is regulated by genomic imprinting. Cells were grown on Mytomycin C treated feeder mouse fibroblast layer, then moved to a feeder free system. Embryonic stem cells (ES) were used to test the stability of the candidate gene during differentiation, Trophectoderm stem cells (TS) were used to test ethanol exposure on placentation, and Neurosphere stem cells were used to model neuroblast migration from their germinal zones to colonize brain development in in vitro. Cells were cultured to an 80% confluence and dissociated with 1xTrypsin. All cells, except control group, were cultures with ethanol at varying concentrations of: 60mg/dL, 120mg/dL, and 320mg/dL. Cells were extracted at each stage of neurosphere differentiation. Total RNA was isolated using the Trizol method for 4 independent experimental replicates. The samples were then DNased using DNaseI and made into 4 independent cDNA reactions using the reverse transcription kit, SuperScriptII, and random hexamer oligonucleotides. Quantitative real time PCR was performed using DyNAmo Flash SYBR Green qPCR Mastermix on a 7500 Fast Real Time PCR System from Applied Biosystems in 3 independent reactions measuring the candidate genes in duplicates. Pharmacist Prescribing History History of Pharmacist Prescribing Pharmacist independent prescribing has taken years of planning, review, and discussion, and it has been a long fought journey from the early days of the 1980s when there has been a trend towards increasing deregulations of prescription only medicines (POMs) to pharmacy only medicines (P medicines) or general sale list (GSL) status for pharmacists counter prescribing role in pharmacies and general retail outlets (Blenkinsopp A Bradley C, 1996) to we are today in the position where pharmacists are able to prescribe for patients they have assessed and diagnosed independently. • 7. All Seven Deadly Sins Committed At Church Bake Sale The deadly sins that are committed so easily we don t even consider them deadly any longer. Sins such as Pride, lust, and gluttony. The Catholic Church teaches us that there are seven deadly sins, greed, sloth, envy, lust, gluttony, pride, and wrath. According to the satirical newspaper The Onion s short article All Seven Deadly Sins Committed at Church Bake Sale, these sins are so frequently perpetrated in everyday society that even a holy church function is unable to go without. The author mentions, In total, 347 individual acts of sin were committed at the bake sale, with nearly every attendee committing at least one of the seven deadly sins... (201) The sin of pride. A sin we all carry out daily. Whether it be the proud parent whose child made the honor roll and Flaunts that fact with a bumper sticker on their Toyota Camry, or even the Essex county college student who displays their school spirit around campus. The sin of pride is so consistently committed, it s become more second nature and less described a sin. The short article provides a plethora of examples depicting pride at the church bake sale. Now you would think a sin like this would be the only one avoided by anything having to do with a church. However, based on the account by the author you would be mistaken. For years, some schools have created stricter dress code rules, while others have made more accessible rules. Part of the administration considers shaping a stricter dress code, but others disagree. Yes, students should continue to make smart choices about their clothing, but a stricter dress code would only result in more problems. We should have our original dress code remain and not make any changes to it because it would restrict students from expressing their feelings, and some dress code rules can be sexist toward girls. • 9. The, And, Clothing, Leather And Tweed Of particular interest, and a perfect piece to fit the genre, with two holes on both sides, and grommets encircling the cutouts, is a white shift dress. While this dress is not what one would call wearable, it certainly makes a statement, and one that Courrèges made well. Sensible women probably would not have worn this dress due to the cutout placement unless they were in favor of foregoing their undergarments. Courrèges utilized vinyl, pvc, leather, and an aggregate of burnished materials in order to create his vision which supplemented his modern, futuristic vision. His cloth of choice was gabardine, wool, and tweed. His background in architecture lent to his attention to detail and his dedication to construction. While André Courrèges was gaining the praises of the masses, other designers were forging ahead on the same path. Paco Rabanne also gained his fashion footing at Balenciaga, however he also worked for Dior and Givenchy. Perhaps fashion was in his blood considering his mother was previously the lead seamstress at Balenciaga. With his first manifesto collection, 12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials, it was obvious that Rabanne was not an conventional designer, nor was he quick to fade into the background and dissolve into fashion history. In a world where men had dominance and women were contending for even a meager slice of that, Rabanne was a savior of sorts. He once stated that, The woman of tomorrow will be efficacious, seductive and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Improving the ISO Rating of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department Introduction In 2012, Insurance Services Office (ISO) conducted a review of the fire suppression capabilities of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department (CBFD). The resulting Public Protection Classification (PPC) was a Class 2. This classification puts the CBFD into the top 1% of the approximately 49,000 fire departments ISO reviews. In an effort to maintain the highest level of service to the public, the current fire administration has established an organizational goal of achieving a Class 1 designation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Background and Significance The Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department was formed on January 5, 1883 by resolution of the city council to establish a full time, paid department. Prior to 1883, the citizens of Council Bluffs had been protected from fire by several different volunteer fire companies. The first such company, known as Hook Ladder 1, was formed after a conflagration destroyed most of the town on November 14, 1854 (Petersen, 1992). Between 1854 and 1883, the department grew in size, purchasing steam pumpers in 1868 and 1880. The city grew as well, expanding from a population of 2,011 in 1860 to 18,063 in 1880. In 1918, the firemen of the CBFD organized and became a charter member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Local 15. This is an affiliation that the labor force of the CBFD still maintains today. On April 5, 1920, the CBFD began a two platoon system with day and night shifts. Ten new firemen were hired bringing the total staffing to 36 men working out of five stations. As the city continued to grow the fire department updated and broadened the footprint of its fire stations. In 1942, a new Fire Station 2 was built ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the first half he takes it and writes in the sand a symbol. It looks like a box with a cross and star inside of it. What is this am I going mad and I insane? . Rainsford says out loud. Soon the rain washes away the writing he had written in his moment of said to be insane. Still persistent about finding out where the General is and where that barking had come from he continues the search. Running around in the mad search he finds himself in a futile position of not finding the answer to his questions that were beginning to eat away at him. Most systems uses either of the three major models of cloud computing services on the market, which are software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). SaaS is an application level cloud service that provides interface software and database. User simply accesses the software running on the back end server of the cloud clients such as web browsers, emulators and mobile web browser, and use the services. The best example of this services is a web based email service. Users are able to send or receive emails from web browser remotely without installing or running email software on his/her device. The essential software are running on the Cloud Computer which allow user to access the desire resources from any supported devices. PaaS is a platform level cloud service that provide an operating system, database and web server, in which the developers build the applications using different software development tools and to run on a cloud platform. • 13. The Principle Two 2. Principle two Overcoming FEAR Our second principle for better self empowerment is the overcoming of fear in general. Fear is a part of our lives. It appears when we are uncertain or faced with something new. It is natural to feel this way, but it can become a problem when it rules our every decision. If for instance, the fear of failing a job interview keeps you indoors and miserable, then there s a serious problem here. So, what is fear? Well, fear can be described as an uncomfortable emotion caused by the strong impression that a person or an object is harmful, capable of causing pain, or a poses threat. In other words, the fear of something or somebody is something that can easily threaten your wellbeing. It s one thing to be scared of something new, or scared because you feel you re being threatened, but it is a problem if you use fear to make excuses for your failures in life. For instance, you have people saying huh, I don t want to go and work overseas because I m scared of people who don t speak the same language as me . And people like that almost never get out of the country. They spend their holidays here in the states as well as their honeymoon and would rather let their fear dictate their conduct. One may think that this type of fear may be justified with all the insecurity happening all over the world and that we shouldn t blame people who think like that. But, when you think about it, making excuses for things that are simple, like refusing to take a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Enslavement Of The Slave Movement Enslavement Resistance Slave resistance began for many enslaved Africans before they reach the Americas. Karenga explained the many arrangements in which Africans resisted to enslavement, while in Africa, during the middle passage, and in the Americas. Employing the Karenga text one can evaluate the different resistances that transpired in Antigua as Cultural, Resistance, Day to Day Resistance, Abolitionism, Armed Resistance, Revolts, Ship Mutinies, and Afro Native Alliance. One can conclude that enslaved Africans had an unrelenting resistance to enslavement (Karenga). There is evidence that confirms enslaved Africans were able to execute successful ship mutinies, while at sea, and control their destiny by establishing maroon societies wherever they landed in the Caribbean. These maroon societies would later act as sanctuaries for escaped slaves throughout the Caribbean. In Antigua, one prominent maroon society was located around the summit of Antigua s extinct volcano, Boggy Peak now known as Mount Obama (Dash). Maroon societies allowed groups of escaped slaves and their descendants to maintain a free community in close proximity of society, but independent of European influence. Maroon communities developed their own distinctive cultures. Since most maroon communities were founded by African born people, they incorporated and preserved many aspects of African culture, including language, religious practices, and craft styles (Jaede). Furthermore, it takes an average of 14 days to register property in Brazil, while the regional average is 6.8 days. This means that on average, starting a business and registering property in Brazil takes twice as long as it would in other Latin American and Caribbean states (Datamonitor, 2011a). Brazil s implementation of the VAT tax system also has its flaws; the latest Latin Tax Index designated it the worst tax regime in Latin America (Datamonitor, 2011a). In the late 19th and early 20th century, many immigrants from Italy, Germany and Japan migrated into the South American nation, which resulted in a multicultural and multi ethnic society (Culture of Brazil, 2012). • 20. A Look Into Abortion s History A Look Into Abortion s History Prior to 1970 abortions were illegal in the United States. It was then when the now popular Roe v. Wade case took place which saw the Supreme Court make any laws regarding the prevention of early stage abortions unconstitutional. An abortion can be defined as an early termination of an unwanted pregnancy. As a topic of controversy there are many aspects of abortion that are constantly being debated. For example, moral and legal obligations, support from federal and state funding and the debate of whether there has been a decline in abortions since its legalization, are amongst the main issues surrounding this topic. During Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court ruled 7 2 votes in favor of it being the women s decision to abort under the 14th Amendment. This was an enormous step towards women s control over their parental right. According to the American Journal of Public Health, after Roe provisions moved from hospitals to non hospitals clinics. This saw the percentage of abortions performed at non hospital clinics rise from 51% in early 1974 to 61% in 1976 and reached 95% in 2008 (Aksel, Fein, Kettener, Young Backus, 2013). Many argued that women were no longer going to the black market for abortions but rather seeking professional help at safe places. This decision was a huge victory for the Pro Choice movement. I did not realize that plea bargains were as common as they are until Crystal pointed out that in 1989, less than 2% took their cases to trial. That is a shockingly low number! Abraham also pointed out that this means that defendants are waiving important rights, protected by the Fifth and Sixth Amendments: the right to a jury trial, the right against self incrimination, and the right to confront hostile witnesses. So the trial is meant to achieve either determining guilt and issuing appropriate punishment for the crime and to prevent innocent people from being punished for a crime that they did not commit. Stephanos Bibas, a professor of Law and Criminology argues that everyone trusted that trials remained as safety valves whenever guilt was in real doubt. The vast majority of defendants are factually and legally guilty, but surely, we assumed, those who are innocent would persist to vindicate their names at trial. Unfortunately, because of pressures by the prosecution and fears of long, harsh sentences, poorly informed, poorly educated, and poorly represented defendants are far from the fully informed, rational actors. (Bibas, 2016). This means that some innocent people are taking a plea bargain for fear of greater punishment, even if they did not actually commit the crime. They have so little faith in the process of a trial working correctly that they feel it better to agree to a lesser punishment despite their innocence. Whether their lack of faith in the trial process is warranted or not, this signifies that there is something fundamentally wrong with the criminal justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Divorce is one of the most stressful events a family can undergo. On average, 80 percent of children will be placed in the primary care of one parent. Children often have a set schedule of when they will be at their mother s home, and when they will be at their father s home. When children have to go back and forth between two homes they often experience a fall in their overall grades. When children are going from one home to the next, they often have a hard time adjusting to the different environments of the homes. This can make it difficult for the children to study or complete their academic materials (Fagan Patrick F., and Robert Rector). Studies show children who have divorced parents are twice as likely to repeat a grade or grades. The children are also five times more likely to be expelled or suspended from school. They are twice as likely to drop out of high school, which makes it less likely for them to attend college (Effects of Divorce on Children s Education). Divorce also has a negative impact on a family s income. Children who have married parents, who both work, have an average income of about $43,600 a year. When children are in a divorced family with only one working parents, the family has an average income of about $25,300 a year. Evolution Of The Internet And Network Protocols The Evolution of the Internet and Network Protocols The internet has revolutionized the modern world like no other invention has before, except perhaps, electricity. The internet allows sharing and collaboration to take place between people on opposite sides of the globe. Vinton G. Cerf, often called the Father of the Internet , admits that when the original idea of an intranet was in its infancy, there was no possible way to imagine all of the ways we would come to use it (NDTV, 2013). But how does it work? The internet, based on the concept of packet switching , involves the travelling of small packets of data over one or more networks (Frenzel, 2013). This can be compared to electronic postcards , meaning that a computer generates a piece of data and flings it into the net, just like the postal system, except 100 million times faster (Cerf, 2013). This concept allows one computer to speak to many different computers around the network by sending out these electronic postcards . However, before these networks can work seamlessly together, they must use a common protocol, or set of rules for transmitting and receiving these packets of data. There are several protocols currently in use, including the OSI Model, the TCP/IP Model, UDP, HTTP, and FDP (Mitchell, 2014), but the most commonly used is Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (Gilmer, 2011). (81) This definition of Mademoiselle s ideal love almost perfectly matches that of Edna s. For Edna was searching for the same qualities within Robert; a change, something that goes astray from the ordinary. Mr. Pontellier, her husband, was simply that, ordinary, which she did not want. A third parallel seen through the relationship between Mademoiselle Reisz and Madame Pontellier is their aversion to the water. This can be logically explained in that she cannot swim. However, she continues to walk along the shore and place her feet in the tide, but other than that, before she learns to swim, that is the extent of her bathing experience. Mademoiselle Reisz is also described to have some sort of physical aversion to the sea as well. Hashing has been one of the most effective tools commonly used to compress data for fast access and analysis, as well as information integrity verification. Hashing techniques have also evolved from simple randomization approaches to advanced adaptive methods considering locality, structure, label information, and data security, for effective hashing [19]. The traditional, static, hashing schemes, requires data storage space to be allocated statically, because of this it did not work well in a dynamic environment. This meant that as the database grows over time, we have three options: 1. Choose hash function based on current file size. Get performance degradation as file grows. 2. Choose hash function based on anticipated file size. Space is wasted initially. 3. Periodically re organize hash structure as file grows. Requires selecting new hash function, re computing all addresses and generating new bucket assignments which are very costly. Some hashing techniques allow the hash function to be modified dynamically to accommodate the growth or shrinking of the database. These are called dynamic hashing. To eliminate these problems, dynamic hashing structures have been proposed. Dynamic means that records are inserted into and deleted from the set, causing the size of the set to vary [17]. By dynamic we mean that the number of buckets can increase or decrease, according to the number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Wolfpack Is A 2015 Documentary That Tells The Story Of... The Wolfpack is a 2015 documentary that tells the story of the Angulo family, specifically the six movie obsessed brothers, and their life in a tiny New York City apartment. The Angulo brothers, all named by their Hare Krishna father for different iterations of the god Krishna, shared a six room apartment with their parents and older sister, Visnu. Their tight knit relationship developed in part from the isolation the family experienced during the boys childhood. During the film, they tell the camera how their father had the only key to the apartment and controlled their excursions into the outside world. Sometimes we got out once a year, says Mukunda Angulo, and one particular year we never got out at all (The Wolfpack 2015). To compensate for this lack of interaction with the outside world, the brothers turned to movies, watching thousands of films during the years they stayed inside the apartment. Their story is unique and compelling. These brothers, despite or perhaps because of the conditions they were raised in, developed a strength and resiliency that allows them to be surprisingly well adjusted to modern American life. They now have Facebook pages and Instagram accounts, friends, love interests, and some have picked up Americanized names (Krisna is now Glenn, and Jagadisa goes by Eddie). The Wolfpack offers viewers a glimpse into their world, as filmmaker Crystal Moselle was given unprecedented access to their apartment and their lives. Moselle has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Kenny Garrett Research Paper Kenny Garrett Kenny Garrett is one of my favorite Alto saxophone players. He was born in Detroit, in 1960 and started to play saxophone in his childhood since his father also played tenor sax. Kenny Garrett s career as a saxophonist started early at the age of 17 with a saxophone spot in Mercer Ellington s revived Ellington Orchestra. And then he seated in Mel Lewis group (a traditional route for young and aspiring jazzers), and performing Charles Mingus music with Dannie Richmond Quartet. Garrett earned a complete musical education, in a series of surprisingly mainstream jazz groups, considering his edgy and experimental, funky style. In December 1984, when he was 24 years old and freelancing in New York City, Kenny Garrett released his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the other part, the tune goes to African style, and Kenny made the connection of those parts. He said that is not only about African Americans, it is the whole black experience. Garrett said, I played it for Pharoah at a sound check and it immediately brought something out of him. He started singing. At that point, I was just so happy that he intuitively understood it. When I wrote it, I had a feeling he d get to it right away be able to go to that place again and reflect on some of the music he s written. This is just the intro, but it falls right in the concept of this project being sketches of larger things. The third tune is Sketches of MD . The name was given to commemorate Miles Davis that Kenny is honor and pleasure in recording and playing for five and half years until Miles passed away. Kenny played colorfully on this tune, it s not about improvisation as much as the melodies. At the ending, Kenny re harmonized the chords over the bass line. That is all learned from the experience with Miles. He did not have plan, and just let it flowed that way. Wayne s Thang and Happy people were also collected in the ... • 39. The Soul Stays the Same in Plato I think, Socrates, he said, that on this line of argument any man, even the dullest, would agree that the soul is altogether more like that which always exists in the same state rather than like that which does not (Plato, Phaedo 79e) In this paper I will argue that the soul is not necessarily unchanging and eternal, as many of Plato s arguments would suggest otherwise. The main reasons in support of this claim are that there are questionable conclusions that Plato had reached that challenge the validity of his theory on immortal souls. The Phaedo is one of Plato s greatest dialogues addressing the essence of the afterlife through a discussion between Socrates and his students. Plato s main argument within the Phaedo is that there is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I mean such things as good and evil, just and unjust and there are innumerable other opposites which are generated out of opposites. And I want to show that this holds universally of all opposites; I mean to say, for example, that anything which becomes greater must become greater after being less. (Plato, 70d) In the dialogue Socrates established that everything is generated from its opposite so must have an opposite. However, it is valid to question this by interpreting the opposite argument. If to say everything has an opposite, would the opposite of existence be non existence? Existence is created from non existence and non existence from existence. If this is true, than would not the existence of a soul suggest that at some point the soul did not exist? Thus, it may be that the soul had a previous existence but it does not definitively suggest that the soul is immortal and has no end. This is somewhat related to Cebes argument that that soul may have existed through many bodies but may eventually pass on. Plato fails to further explain the cycle of the soul. Socrates does not give detail on when the cycle of the soul begins or how it may have started. Furthermore, if one relies on the opposites argument for support of the immortal theory then one could consider that is there was a beginning to the cycle of the soul than there would be some sort of end. The Theory of Recollection also has some gaps in its logic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. A Review Public And Private Waste Management Azam, A. S., Mansoor, A. (2004). Partnerships for solid waste management in developing countries: linking theories to realities. Habitat International, 28, 467 479. In this article, Azam and Mansoor review public and private waste management sectors, and the possibilities for partnership. By conducting a literature review, they conclude that the current isolated arrangement in the industry should be replaced with a vertical integration between small scale agencies and the public sector. The main limitation of the article is that it focuses developing countries as a whole, thus the suggestion may not be applied in particular city due to the complexity of social and political structure. This article is relevant to PLAN 440/674 because it discusses waste management in developing countries. Elliott, P., Briggs, D., Morris, S., Hoogh, C. d., Hurt, C., Jensen, T. K., et al. (2001). Risk of adverse birth outcomes in populations living near landfill site. British Medical Journal, 323, 363 368. The article inspects the risk of adverse birth outcomes associated with populations that reside near a landfill in Great Britain. The authors analyze health data of the populations with 2km of a landfill site. They conclude there is small excess risk of congenital anomalies and low and very low birth weight in population, which indicates that there may be a possible causal association with the distances to landfill. This study is useful for PLAN440/647 because it introduces a connection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
