Luke 15:8 (NIV) Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn t she light a lamp,
sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?
Of silver. In Psalms 68:30 signifies as fragments, and not properly money.
Psalms 68:30 (KJV) Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of
the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter thou the people that delight in
war.
Luke 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a
candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

Olive oil was in abundance and therefore the oil was not costly.
We have the luxury of electricity today. Unfortunately, she did not have any electricity.
Most homes at that time would contain several oil lamps and the inside of the home was about as dim
as a 40 watt light bulb.
Still she did not take a lax attitude towards her lost possession. She knew if she was going to find this
coin.
1. You have to stay focused. She did not allow the lighting in the house to stop her. She was not
focused on how dim the house may have been. Her mindset was to find the coin.
2. Use what you got. There is a time when you will not have all the tools you feel you need. It should
not cause you to give in. This woman did not have proper lighting, but she stayed focused and worked
diligently.
If you are going to find your way out, maybe, you will have to sweep your house clean.
The woman swept the house. She uses her broom to reach into corners and under tables, areas where
she could not see. Something you must go beyond the normal.
3. Search carefully until you find it. She did not take a lax attitude towards her lost possession. The

Five Days At Memorial
Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm Ravaged Hospital by American journalist Sheri
Fink is a very inspirational book because it focused on the events that happened in Memorial Medical
Center when the hospital was flooded and had no electricity after Hurricane Katrina struck New
Orleans. Time, space, communication, and identity are portrayed throughout the book. These four
factors are important in inter ethnic relationships between patients and health care providers. Being
able to identify these factors in a clinical setting, health care providers can provide more efficient care
for all patients. Space is a significant factor and it is portrayed throughout this book. For example, a

doses of morphine and other painkillers. When special agent Virginia Rider arrived at Pou s house to
arrest her, Pou was told to take off any jewelry and bring only her driver s license. Rider watched
while Pou was getting her driver s license from her purse (p. 339 340). This scene clearly indicates
that she is losing her personal identity because she didn t have the privilege to bring anything she
wants with her. In other words, her actions were being controlled. Besides losing her personal identity,
she also lost her professional identity because she needed to cancel all of her surgeries that were
scheduled next week and transfer her patients to another doctor. In other words, she lost her privilege

From 1929 to 1980, Mexico held the longest ruling party in the world called the Partido
Revolutionario Institutional (PRI), or the Institutional Revolutionary Party. The PRI dominated the
political institutions in Mexico. It was a party that included all significant figures in the national and
local politics. The PRI funded the media during its time in power, and enabled them to control what
was being said and presented about the Mexican government. Resources say that the PRI would spy
on the journalists using the national intelligence agency (Hallin 87). The lack of professionalism and
higher education also hindered the opportunity for journalists to be seen as respectable and credible to
the public. In the 1950 s, Televisa, the first Latin American television network was created and funded
by the PRI. Televisa continues to be the largest television network in Latin America today; however,
due to its ties with the PRI during the 1950 s, Televisa is still seen as a government affiliated network.
In Daniel C. Hallin s article, Media, Political Power and Democratization in Mexico, he goes into
further detail on how Televisa openly supported PRI during the electoral campaign. In 1988, the ruling
party [PRI] faced its toughest competitor, Cuatemoc Cardenas Solorzano, from the small leftist party.
During the electoral race, Televisa devoted 80% to the

Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned Essay
Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned
The issues concerning human reproductive cloning are shrouded in controversy, perhaps
overshadowing the true advantages of cloning technology. Therapeutic cloning, which is often
misunderstood as reproductive cloning, is less controversial than the latter as it does not involve the
creating of an individual being. Instead, vital stem cells are extracted from human embryos, in order to
generate tissues and organs for transplant.
The goal of this process is strictly to harvest stem cells, resulting in the creation of cloned organs ,
which can be used to treat heart disease, Alzheimer s, and cancer.
However, because reproductive cloning involves the creation of a specific being with ... Show more

. . concerns can be addressed when reproductive cloning has been shown to be safe in animals, which
it has not yet. (Paulson) The success rate by means of reproductive cloning remains pale in
comparison to natural procreation, and thus does not justify cloning as a form of procreation for the
time being. The current success rate for reproductive cloning stands at one or two viable offspring per
100 experiments, and until the success rate drastically increases, cloning humans would be potentially
dangerous and unethical.
The dangers that arise from reproductive cloning are numerous, and are enough to validate the
banning of human reproductive cloning altogether. During mammalian reproductive cloning, a large
proportion of clones suffered from weakened immune systems, which greatly compromised the animal
s ability to fight off infection, disease, and other disorders. Animal experiments in cloning all indicate
that a cloned twin is at high risk of congenital defects, multiple health problems and perhaps a greatly
shortened life span. (Paulson) In addition, many of the offspring produced through cloning suffer
massive abnormalities, such as missing or deformed organs. Approximately 30% of offspring are
diagnosed with large offspring syndrome and other debilitating conditions. In fact, studies on
reproductive cloning have shown that more than 90% of

The Simpsons, King Of The Hill, And South Park
Moral Learning in Animated Television:
Examples from The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and South Park Animated shows such as The
Simpsons, King of the Hill, and South Park integrate social criticism with moral values. This
integration might seem to be contradictory, since much of the social criticism in these shows mocks
self righteous traditional values as supported by conservative Christians. However, the paradox of
these shows is that they are capable of critiquing conservative hypocrisy while at the same time
promoting moral values that cherish family, friendships, tolerance, and goodwill toward others.
Indeed, the traditional values that these shows critique are those values that judge and condemn others.

The show parodies George Clooney, Carl Reiner, Ben Affleck, and other privileged celebrities.
Therefore, one can conclude that the actual critique of the show in this context is not motivated by
politically ideology but rather by a generalized ideology of proper moral behavior. Elitist celebrities
who are self righteous are engaged in the same type of judging as conservative Christians such as
Flanders in The Simpsons. Indeed, South Park often critiques traditional religious institutions, notably
the Roman Catholic Church. One episode depicts the Church as a harbor for pedophiles, while another
episode depicts the Church as absurdly superstitious. Elitist judging is the target of South Park s

Innocence In John Knowles A Separate Peace
John Knowles captivating novel A Separate Peace explores the eventful life of two adolescent students
in New Hampshire during a time of complication and chaos in World War II. Finny, an astonishingly
athletic and adventurous boy, gets himself and his best friend Gene Forrester into a bit of mischief

making him a truly unique character. Despite living in a time of World War II, the evils of the world
do not exist in Finny s world because of his inherent innocence. In his time at school, the actions and
optimistic opinions of Finny make him the epitome of innocence, but when the events of his life force

Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Essay
The brain is vulnerable, and is susceptible to mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBIs). A person s head
jerks forward and back; this rapid change in acceleration causes a concussion because of impact.
Examples of impact injuries that frequently occur in athletics are collisions, falls, and bumps to the
head. Regardless of how a person sustains a concussion, her brain collides with ridges in her skull.
Although the purpose of a skull is to protect the brain; the fusion of bones in a person s skull creates
ridges, and these ridges damage the brain upon impact. When a person s brain is shaken up, the sharp
ridges damage the prefrontal cortex and temporal lobes (Hirsch Kaufman, 1975).
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggest that 17 percent of reported
concussions are caused by sports related accidents (CDC, 2014). Concussions affect approximately
1.7 million Americans every year, and this equates to about 300,000 reported ... Show more content on

Increased intracellular calcium triggers the activation of calpain. Calpain, a calcium dependent
proteolytic enzyme begins apoptosis (Momeni, 2011). Apoptosis occurs because calpain degrades the
membrane, cytoskeleton, and the cell s DNA. Calpain, in the presence of calpastatin, an endogenous
inhibitor protein, unregulates calpain activation (Momeni, 2011). Calpain consists of a two catalytic
subunits; within the 80kD subunit there are four domains, domains I through IV. Domains for calcium
binding are found in first four EF hands; the fifth EF hand goes around the subunits thus creates a
heterodimer interface (Todd, Moore, Deivanayagam, Lin, Chattopadhyay, Maki, Wang, Narayana,
2003). During activation, domain I hydrolyses other proteins and these proteins go from the 80kD
subunit to 30kD subunit (Suzuki, Hata, Kawbata, Sorimachi 2004). After that, the active site cleft is

The Rate Of Preterm Birth Essay
For when a child is born the mother is also born again, has been rightfully quoted by Gilbert Parker
(Gilbert Parker, n.d.). Childbirth is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could have and
we, as women, should feel proud to be major contributors for it. Thus, a mother has to play a key role
in aiding the healthcare workers to mitigate the health crisis associated with childbirth by performing
her duties faithfully. One such associated health crisis is Premature (preterm) birth which occurs when
the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of gestational period (CDC, 2015). The rate of preterm
birth ranges from 5% to 18% of babies born across 184 countries (WHO, 2015). Premature birth is an
important public health priority in terms of health of women and infants. Every year an estimated 15
million preterm babies are born and this number is still rising (WHO, 2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10
babies born in United States were premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born
premature than white, Hispanic and Asian/Pacific islander infants (CDC,2015). Almost 1 million
children die each year due to complications of premature birth (WHO, 2015). Major survivors face
lifelong disabilities like learning disabilities, hearing, visual, feeding, digestive, breathing and
respiratory problems (CDC, 2015) and low birth weight (March of Dimes, 2014). A major challenge in
decreasing the rate of preterm birth is

The Pros And Cons Of White Collar Crime
Criminals walk amongst us everyday. When people hear the word criminal, murderer , robber , and
arsonist , are what most people think of. No one thinks about the CEO of a billion dollar company, the
everyday pharmacist, or even a trusted personal financial advisor. This is due to the respectability and
high social status these occupations hold (Temchenko, 2016). Of the many crimes committed every
year, white collar crimes are one of the most highest crimes committed because they are overlooked.
On July 28, 2016 , 14 year old Bresha Meadows, who had no prior record of violence, was arrested
and potentially up for a life sentence in prison for saving her family from more domestic abuse by
shooting her father (Jeltsen, 2016) . In 2003 the former chairman and chief executive of MCSi
Michael E. Peppel, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy, money laundering and filing false documents
with the Securities and Exchange Commission was only sentenced to spend seven days in prison
because Peppel was a remarkably good man . The charges against Peppel carry a minimum 8 year
sentence (Henning, 2013). Sentencing disparities between white collar crime versus street crime is a
crime within itself and some form of justice needs to be served. Sentencing disparity is defined as a
circumstance where alike cases are not treated similarly or different cases are not treated differently
(Council of Europe, 1989). An example would be two men who each stole the same amount of items.

Paul of Tarsus Essay
Paul of Tarsus
Contribution to the development and expression of Christianity
Paul of Tarsus (originally Saul of Tarsus) is widely considered to be central to the early development
and adoption of Christianity. Many Christians view him as an important interpreter of the teachings of
Jesus. Little is known of the birth and early childhood of Paul, then known as Saul. It is known in the
scriptures that he was born in the city of Tarsus (Acts 22:3) located in the Roman province of Cilicia
around the year 5 A.D. Saul left his home during his early adolescence and was taken to Jerusalem for
his formal education in the most prominent rabbinical schools of that day. Young Saul had the

On the road to Damascus the Lord intervenes in Saul s life (Acts 9: 3 6) and he is genuinely converted
during that encounter with the Lord Jesus. Under the ministry of Ananias (a disciple) he was also
healed and filled with the Holy Spirit. Saul now known as Paul from that moment on immediately
began preaching Christ in the synagogues of Damascus. Paul s preaching was very convincing and
disturbing to the Damascus Jews to the point where they desired to kill him. Therefore, the other
Christian disciples assisted him in his escape by night (Acts 9:22 25) that he may escape to Arabia.
Paul s missionary Journeys were defining actions of him, he usually set foot with other companions
and he endured hardships on these voyages. He was imprisoned, lashed and stoned several times and
almost murdered once (2 Cor. 11:24 27).
Paul s distinctive contribution to Christianity is his heresy the doctrine of salvation by faith. A
salvation available not just to the descendants of Abraham, but to the pagan, non Jewish world as well.
When he was writing to those in the Roman capital, Paul makes the declaration that proved to be the
cornerstone of all his writings Romans 1:16 17, For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of
God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the
righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, The one who is righteous will

The Murder And Robbery Of A Teenage Girl By Six African...
On June 15th, 1920, three innocent men were beaten and lynched in Duluth, Minnesota. The alleged
rape and robbery of a teenage girl by six African American men, led a mob of protesters to kidnap
three of the men and punish them without trial . Durring this time, racial tensions were at an all time
high in Duluth . The Duluth lynchings were met with different reactions, and in many ways it sparked
a change in the United States. Events such as this one often go unremembered due to their troubling
nature, but these events are educational and necessary to learn while investigating Minnesota history.
The background, legal action, and after math of it all show how Minnesota, and the country as a whole
reacted to this event . While some Local Duluth newspaper responded in favor of the mob, the
majority of National newspapers condemned the mob for their heinous crimes. Opposite reactions
from multiple news reports shows how divided our country was about civil rights at the time, and how
controversial the topic was . A call to action was needed. The Duluth lychings affected the nation by
showing how controversial civil rights was at this time, and influencing the creation of new programs
and laws to protect the rights of African Americans in our country. The 1920 s presented many

Nineteen Years A Slave By Solomon Northup Essay
As Americans today, we learn the history of our country, the good and the bad, however no one can
truly grasp the realities of slavery unless they have experienced it themselves. 12 Years a Slave is a
phenomenal book because, being a reflection of Solomon Northup s life, it accurately portrays the life
of a black slave during that time period, including intense detail that arises a variety of emotions in the
reader throughout the book. Published in 1853 in New York by Derby Miller, and written by Solomon
Northup himself, his memoir entitled, 12 Years a Slave is a phenomenal narrative of the accounts he
experienced as a free man kidnapped and sold into slavery that assisted in opening the eyes of the
public to the disturbing and barbaric realities of slavery in the Antebellum South. Throughout the
book, Solomon Northup gives an account of his life from the time he lived as a free man, to the time
he was kidnapped and sold into slavery, as well as his experiences as a slave, and up until he became a
free man again. In the beginning of the book, Solomon explains his life as he enjoyed the blessings of
liberty in a free state (Northup 10). His father was a slave who acquired his freedom when his slave
owner died and was then able to be emancipated, which led to Solomon being born a free man.
Unfortunately, Solomon s mother died while he was confined in slavery. Living as a free man,

Aristotle Essay examples
Aristotle believes that happiness is the ultimate goal in life. You can t reach happiness unless you work
hard and become successful. That is where virtue comes into play. A human s function is to engage in
an activity of the soul which is in accordance with virtue and which is in conformity with reason (page
76, Palmer). The two kinds of virtue are intellectual and moral. Our virtues are what make us all
individual and all different. Intellectual virtues are what we are born with and what we learn. It is our
nature as humans and what we have inherited that makes desire to learn. As humans, we develop
wisdom to help guide us to a good life. With the intellectual virtue you develop two different kinds of

We are born with faculties like we are with passions. We are not made up of good or bad nature; we
are not praised nor blamed (page 225, Mayfield). This quote is explaining with passions and faculties
are how we feel and desire which is neither right nor wrong, good or bad. Since passions and faculties
are not defined, state of character is virtue. State of character is our actions and our habits. The virtue
of man also will be the state of character which makes a man good and which makes him do his own
work well (page 225, Mayfield). In order to have true virtue you need to act to accordance with a
golden mean of moderation (page 78, Palmer). This means that you need to find an intermediate so
you will be praised and succeed. You can t take too much or too little. Too much for someone could be
too little for someone else, therefore each person needs to find their own individual mean.
For we may be said to desire all things as means to something else except indeed happiness, as
happiness is the end or perfect state (page 230, Mayfield). As Aristotle said that our ultimate goal is
happiness but in order to reach happiness you have to succeed. Relaxation then is not an end. We
enjoy it as a means to activity; but it seems that the happy life is a life of virtue, and such a life is
serious, it is not one of mere amusement. We speak of serious things too as better than things which
are ridiculous and amusing, and of the activity of

Fashion Trends In The 1920s
After centuries of reliance on Paris fashion, the 1900s launched the new era that enabled Americans to
break free from outer dependences and to set their own trends in fashion. Right from the dawn of the
new century Americans made a bold move throughout the entire 20th century that marked
revolutionary transformation from the formality of constrictive fashions to casual simplicity we enjoy
today.
Such a remarkable shift would not be possible without huge effect Hollywood had made on fashion
industry. The 1930s marked the rise of American fashion designers who became recognizable over the
course of the decade. Given tremendous impact of Hollywood, the US fashion industry blossomed for
the decades ahead. After World War II, Americans witnessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After the flourishing 1920s, the new decade made the clothing trends more streamlined. Still, famous
Paris designers (Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet among others), wealthy
socialites, and Hollywood actors (Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper) took the lead in determining the
most popular fashion designs. However, over the decade of the Great Depression lasting from 1929
until 1941, most people could not benefit from the new styles and bold fashion experiments
introduced by the wealthy. Nonetheless, even in those realities people managed to benefit from several
trends and enjoy the new fashions. Most often, under harsh circumstances, ordinary people came up
with their own clothes that required less fabric and were less costly. The adverse economic effects
provoked the launch of the advanced ready to wear clothing industry across the United States capable
of producing and selling a wide range of affordable clothes of various styles and sizes. Given growing
demand, the manufacturers imitated the latest Paris fashions with cheap copies. Rayon and cotton
were the cheap fabrics that enabled the supply of new clothing lines (Scheips 2007).
With the beginning of the World War II in 1939, people have reconsidered their dressing patterns.
Naturally, the clothes became more rational and limited in design. The Nazi occupation of Paris
dramatically shifted the trends in the western fashion

internet firm is largely dependent on (1) firm s ability to adapt to enormous uncertainty, (2)
competitive landscape paced with technology innovations,(3) changing market conditions and (4)
costs of searching for a profitable business model. Valuations can be extremely high if the initial
growth rates are high and if there is enough volatility in this growth over time, The author s argument
is that high valuation of internet stocks is attributed to the investment opportunities approach. This
approach suggests that the presence of growth opportunities to invest new capital results to projects
with a promising rate of rate return higher than normal. The investment opportunities approach states
that value of a growth firm is equal to the PV of cash flows from assets in place and the present value
of growth opportunity (Vj = V1 + V2). It suggests that investors should pay a premium for earnings of
a growth firms relative to mature firms due to the presence of profitability multiplier in growth
firms. The author proposes a modified investment opportunities approach which incorporates
advertising and R amp;D into the equation when valuing growth firms; V = E/k m + RD+A/k (m 1).

Financial Statements Regarding A Company s Performance...
Final Exam Question 4 According to FASB webpage, revenue is a crucial number to users of financial
statements in assessing a company s performance and prospects. However, revenue recognition
requirements in U.S. GAAP differ from those in IFRS, and both sets of requirements are considered to
be in need of improvements. Accordingly, the FASB and the IASB initiated a joint project to clarify
the principles for recognizing revenue and to develop a common revenue standard for U.S. GAAP and
IFRS that would 1) remove inconsistencies and weaknesses in existing revenue recognition standards
and practices; 2) provide a more robust framework for addressing revenue recognition issues; 3)

The current model for revenue recognition focuses on the income statement. In many respects, if the
proposed model is adopted, the new model focuses on control and when goods and services are
transferred to the customer. It appears that the revenue recognition project has the potential to affect
virtually every company s day to day accounting as well as the way business relationships and
contracts with customers are structured. Specifically, for long term construction contracts, revenue
recognition is dependent on customer control of the asset as it is developed or manufactured.
Continuous revenue recognition, such as percentage of completion, would only occur if this control is
present. Otherwise, revenue recognition would be similar to current completed contract methods. For
customer loyalty programs, benefits to customers are performance obligations because the benefits,
often points, are a material right that the customer would not receive without engaging in the purchase
transaction. Thus, revenue would be deferred until the obligations are satisfied. For product
warranties, the amount deferred would then be based on an allocation of revenue instead of costs.
However, under the current model, revenue is recognized and estimated costs to fulfill the warranty
obligation

The Fluidity of the American Civil War
The American Civil War, widely known in the United States as simply the Civil War as well as other
sectional names, was a civil war fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union or
independence for the Confederacy. Among the 34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states
individually declared their secession from the United States and formed the Confederate States of
America. The Confederacy, often simply called the South, grew to include eleven states, and although
they claimed thirteen states and additional western territories, the Confederacy was never
diplomatically recognized by a foreign country. The states that remained loyal and did not declare
secession were known as the Union or the North. The war had ... Show more content on

Slavery was the central source of escalating political tension in the 1850s. The Republican Party was
determined to prevent any spread of slavery, and many Southern leaders had threatened secession if
the Republican candidate, Lincoln, won the 1860 election. After Lincoln had won without carrying a
single Southern state, many Southern whites felt that disunion had become their only option, because
they thought that they were losing representation, which would hamper their ability to promote pro
slavery acts and policies.
Root causes
Slavery. Contemporary actors, the Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both
sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to
emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as an integral part
of it. From the anti slavery perspective, the issue was primarily about whether the system of slavery
was an anachronistic evil that was incompatible with Republicanism in the United States. The strategy
of the anti slavery forces was containment to stop the expansion and thus put slavery on a path to
gradual extinction. The slave holding interests in the South denounced this strategy as infringing upon
their Constitutional rights. Southern whites believed that the emancipation of slaves would destroy the
South s economy because of the alleged laziness of blacks under free labor.
Slavery was illegal in the

What is Fountain Hills? What is Fountain Hills, Arizona? Underneath the surface of this quiet town,
there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for

1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing hands
several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. Robert Paxton McCulloch (May 11,

Comparing Darwin s Theory, Theories, And Society
Research, theory, society. These three words share a connection, or better yet, are steps that occur in
order. A scientist researches, reaches a theory or answer, then reveals it to other scientists and society,
for them to either disapprove or agree with. With this being said, often times, there are crazy ideas or
theories that transform from being called nonsense to believable and scientifically proven facts. A
quite apparent example is Charles Darwin s theory of human evolution. A recap of how Darwin
reached his theory can be shown through a third person perspective. His theory begins like every other
theory. Darwin ponders on life, generally, the evolution of humans. Then, he is driven with motive and
determination to find out the truth behind evolution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Airways (BA) transformation and the challenges encountered in making an organizational change.
Identification of critical factors leading to their successful transformation as well as the steps,
sequence, and risks taken to transform the organization and personal assessment of what could have

Connection of British Airways case to re energizing the mature organization
The re energizing the mature organization reading was relevant to the BA case through the company s
recognition of the need to overcome challenges to renew, understanding and practicing the principles
of renewal, and putting in place leadership and work activities necessary to accomplish the re

needed to focus not only internally, but externally as well. Beatty and Ulrich (1991) note (as cited in
Jick Peiperl, 2011, p. 39) that given such challenges, mature organizations need to build internal
organizational processes that meet external customer requirements.

The Importance Of Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization which provides affordable reproductive care, currently
receives government funding. Those in need of affordable health care can go to PPFA for STI
treatment, pap smears, and prevention of unintended pregnancies. The problem arises in PPFA s
prevention of unintended pregnancies, particularly abortion. But abortion is not the only issue the
public finds in the organization. The public has recently questioned PPFA s integrity and motives as
their controversial actions are exposed. Government funded health care should be easily accessible for
all people, but Planned Parenthood is not the organization for this. Instead, the government should
push its funds towards organizations whose practices are not controversial and still provide quality
health care.
Although Planned Parenthood provides other affordable health care services for men, women, and
children, many people find their service of abortion controversial and seek to defund them specifically
for the discontinuation of this practice. Abortion was legalized under the Roe vs Wade case in 1973
and soon after, PPFA made it one of their available services so they could provide maximum
reproductive health care for all women. Since its legalization, abortion has taken the lives of nearly
sixty million children. Out of the sixty million, PPFA is responsible for 7.7 million (Number of
Abortions). Defunding the organization would cause 1) an increase in birth rates, 2) an increase in

innovation and stifling any opportunities to grow professionally. This degradation causes low morale
in the office and high turnover of staff. The specialization of jobs for individual employees also pose
major problems for OAH. When one of the legal secretaries is back logged, the office manager will

Building a backdoor to a phone is an unprecedented step that takes everyone s safety at risk because it
empowers government, as well as hackers and cyber criminals, to capture users private data.
Weakening encryption will cause a series of issues on the security of devices. Sophia Cope, an
attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, claims that if Apple creates unlocking technology, its
development would be like opening Pandora s Box. It means that not only would the killer s phone be
decrypted, but also all the phones would be at risk to be decrypted. The government is more likely to
ask Apple to craft a master key that could be used to open not only one door but every door. With this
master key, the government could pass through all the devices and access everyone s message, phone
calls, emails, location, social network accounts, bank account, or even camera or microphone without
the subject s consent. In facts, not only the government but also the hackers and cyber criminals could

Summary Of The BookThe Guest By Albert Camus
During the mid twentieth century, Algeria was trying to gain independence from France. It was writers
like Albert Camus who gave the world of taste of what was happening in their country at that time
through literature. He used knowledge and experiences to create stories and plays that captured
Alergia and the period of war they were in. Camus dominated the mid twentieth century intellectually
and artistically. Albert Camus grew up with a strict belief in human freedom, which is evident through
his short story The Guest.
Growing up Albert Camus did not have an ordinary life. His family was not as fortunate as other
families. He grew up poor and was raised solely by his mother due to his father dying during World
War I. He was born in French Algeria. His mother was of Spanish descent and his father was from
France (Heims). Camus never let this be a disadvantage to his career or interfere with it. He said
Poverty was never a misfortune for me: it was radiant with light. Even my revolts were brilliant with
sunshine. They were almost always....revolts for everyone, so that life might be lifted into that light
(Heims). He used this through his career and it shows through his works.
During his life, Algeria was at war. Camus was torn apart personally and intellectually by this war. He
was from Spanish and French descent, however he grew up in Algeria (Taylor). At this time it was still
a French colony and Algeria was part of France for over a hundred years. Muslims and Berbers

In the case of Teotihuacan, it is not enough to debate who owns it, the debate should entertain ways

Gender Stereotypes In Shakespeare s Plays During The...
Shakespeare s plays were made during the Elizabethan Era, an era where men had more of a
prominent role in society. This system of society caused a great deal of plays during the period to be
centered on male figures, with the exception of the plays of Shakespeare. His plays had a common
theme of breaking gender stereotypes and surpassing gender barriers; a great example of this being
Macbeth . The emphasis on manliness and the changing definition of it in Macbeth shows that
Shakespeare s views on manhood were different from those found in the time period.
The era in which Shakespeare lived in was a time mostly run by a male dominated hierarchy who
viewed women as weak and inferior to them. As a result, many jobs and forms of work were denied to
women as many thought they were far too emotional to handle anything more than staying at home.
For example, many forms of entertainment in this period (such as plays) were controlled by men and
described the lives of heroic figures who were male, a practice caused by the ubiquitous belief of men
s superiority over women. Anything that presented women in a light other than the standard were
found to be strange and was normally shunned upon by the people. ... Show more content on

Advocacy Competences of School Counselors

tradition of professional counselors, but the role of advocacy in school counseling was not valued until
the recent times. The purpose of this paper is to give a reflection about the article on school counseling
in order to show and describe the advocacy competencies of school counselors. The article was written

conceptualize advocacy in order to develop advocacy competencies. School counselors have a key
role in advocating for academic success for each student in the school. The advocacy makes the
counselors have a leadership role in encouraging and promoting school reforms. The advocacy efforts
of school counselors aim to eliminate obstacles preventing the development of students and to create
chances for all students to learn. It also aims to ensure students have access to the school curriculum
that fits their needs. School counselors collaborate with other people within and outside the school to
assist students meet their learning needs. In addition, advocacy promotes positive and systematic

Monetary Policy Essay
Monetary Policy
Monetary policy has some basic goals: to promote quot;maximum quot; sustainable output and
employment and to promote quot;stable quot; prices. The term quot;monetary policy quot; refers to
the actions undertaken by a central bank, such as the Federal Reserve, to influence the availability and
cost of money and credit to help promote national economic goals. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913
gave the Federal Reserve responsibility for setting monetary policy.
The Fed can not control inflation or influence output and employment directly; instead, it affects them
indirectly, mainly by raising or lowering a short term interest rate called the quot;federal funds quot;

Using these tools, the Federal Reserve influences the demand for, and supply of, balances that
depository institutions hold at Federal Reserve Banks and in this way alters the federal funds rate. The
federal funds rate is the interest rate at which depository institutions lend balances at the Federal
Reserve to other depository institutions overnight. The point of implementing policy through raising
or lowering interest rates is to affect people s and firms demand for goods and services. Changes in the
federal funds rate trigger a chain of events that affect other short term interest rates, foreign exchange
rates, long term interest rates, the amount of money and credit, and, ultimately, a range of economic
variables. This shows how policy actions affect real interest rates, which in turn affect demand and
ultimately output, employment, and inflation.
Monetary policy can be quickly altered and can affect money supply and investments very fast thus
making speed and flexibility one of its strength. Members of the Feds board are appointed a 14 year
term. This isolates them from lobbying so therefore no political pressure to contend with. The tight
monetary policy helped the economy succeed from 1980 thru to 1990 by bringing down the inflation

Christian Theology And Psychology Is Necessary
Living in a pluralistic world naturally lends its inhabitants to a culture plentiful of varying belief
systems in which integration becomes beneficial, as opposed to detrimental. Theology, or more
specifically Christianity, and the field of psychology are central ideologies that often call into question
the need for unification. The intermingling of the two for certain people is logical; whereas, others
view them as absolutely distinct with no benefit of integrating. Either standpoint offers valid claims
with both being worthy of examination.
The idea of whether or not integrating Christian theology with psychology is necessary is well stated
by David Cartwright (2010), a professor at Colorado Christian University, in that this depends on one
s perspective (Integration of..., Video 1). Certain Christian circles believe that not only should these
two areas be interrelated, but they also naturally are, as all things fall under God s realm of creation.
Yet, other believers stake their claim in a different camp with the mindset that theology and
psychology should never intersect, let alone meld into one another. On the opposite end of the
spectrum, this question is a moot point for one who adheres to an atheistic worldview. Personally, my
stance follows a Christ centered worldview, thus, aligning with author David Entwistle s proposal of

The Golden Ass Literary Analysis
The beloved tale of Cupid and Psyche takes up a large portion of The Golden Ass, relative to the other
anecdotal interludes. Given the central placement, length and style, many readers have questioned its
relevance to the overarching story. Is it an artistic interlude providing a reprieve from harsher
circumstances, like the long description of Achilles shield in the Iliad, or does it advance the story?
While it is tempting to view the tale as an artistic interlude, the Tale of Cupid and Psyche perpetuates
the demonization of women in The Golden Ass, draws parallels between Psyche and Lucius, and
foreshadows the tragic fate of Charitë. Firstly, in the story of Cupid and Psyche, Psyche s two sisters

younger of Psyche s two sisters asserts that she will be ashamed to call [herself] a woman if she does
not see Psyche toppled down from her pinnacle... and flung into the gutter (109). Here, the sister
equates being a woman with taking violent, jealous action against her own flesh and

Theme Of Desire In The Return Of The Native
In Thomas Hardy s aesthetic world desire is not only an inevitable component, but it appears as a
dominant dynamic of his creations. Especially in all the fourteen novels of Hardy, desire is seen as a
vital energy creating a new and a better realm of existence though its reverse turn is also apparent. In
The Return of the Native (1878) desire works as a driving force as the narrative fabric of the novel
manifests desire with its manifold implications. In this novel desire with its varied implications is seen
to be integrated with the lives of the characters in such a way that it even influences human
subjectivity, creating a visibly poignant universe.
The thematic design of The Return of the Native embodies disappointment, frustrated ... Show more

If we accept the definition of desire as a strong feeling of wanting something, the fundamental impulse
behind The Return of the Native is that of desire. The term desire indicates a central but diffuse and by
no means unified concept or set of concepts. According to Michel Foucault, the more recent
researchers of psychoanalysis, linguistics and ethnology have decentred the subject in relation to the
laws of his desire , and the concept of desire has assumed an important but varied function in the field
of theory.1 Freud s essay Beyond the Pleasure Principle takes us closer to understanding the formal
organization of desire the illusion of a striving toward perfection is here explained by instinctual
repression and the persisting tension of the repressed instinct, and the resulting difference between the
pleasure of satisfaction demanded and that achieved. In Beyond the Pleasure Principle and Other
Writings Freud says:
...The gulf between the level of gratificatory pleasure demanded and the level actually achieved
produces that driving force that prevents the individual from resting content with any satisfaction he
ever contrives, and instead as the poet says he presses ever onward unbridled and untamed. (Mephisto
in Faust I, Faust s Study)

A Comparison of Butler s Life and Kindred Essay
A Comparison of Butler s Life and Kindred
What lies in the mind of an author as he or she begins the long task of writing a fiction novel? This
question can be answered if the author s life is studied and then compared to the work itself. Octavia
E. Butler s life and her novel Kindred have remarkable comparisons. This essay will point out
important events of Butler s life and how they link to the mentioned novel.
Octavia Estelle Butler was born on June 22, 1947 in Pasadena, California (Voices From 1). She began
her life with many hardships as an only child and having her father die when she was very young
(Voices From 1). She grew up in a location that had a wide variety of racial backgrounds, however
Butler never felt like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She became bored with the books that were more common for children her age and became interested
in fairy tales and horse stories (Black Women 208). She received a card for the public library and as
she became more comfortable with reading she discovered that she was very interested in science
fiction (Black Women 208). Science fiction became a false reality for Butler, however she was
concerned for the lack of Black characters and the stereotypes that women received in the novels that
she read (Black Women 208). These important events were the beginning of the process that would
shape her into a feministic science fiction writer.
It wasn t until the eighth grade that she realized that she had become a very intelligent young woman
(Notable Black 144). She often engaged in competitions with a friend of a different learning disorder
to see which of the two could receive better grades. Until that point in her life she considered herself
as not being very bright but when she started winning the competitions she described it as the first
time that I d ever done anything to impress myself (Notable Black 144). It is interesting to consider
that she may have been forced out of her dyslexia by the accompaniment of adults and her strange
attraction to science fiction novels. However, the consequences of the dyslexia such as shyness and
the difficulty to understand still haunted her throughout high school (Notable Black 144).
There were many amongst the students

She was not focused on how dim the house may have been. Her mindset was to find the coin. 2. Use what you got. There is a time when you will not have all the tools you feel you need. Five Days At Memorial Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm Ravaged Hospital by American journalist Sheri Fink is a very inspirational book because it focused on the events that happened in Memorial Medical Center when the hospital was flooded and had no electricity after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. Time, space, communication, and identity are portrayed throughout the book. These four factors are important in inter ethnic relationships between patients and health care providers. Being able to identify these factors in a clinical setting, health care providers can provide more efficient care for all patients. For example, Dr. Anna Pou, who specialized in otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat), and two nurses from the hospital s intensive care unit, Cheri Landry and Lori Budo, were arrested on Monday, July 17, 2006 because they were suspected for euthanatizing at least four patients of LifeCare using lethal doses of morphine and other painkillers. When special agent Virginia Rider arrived at Pou s house to arrest her, Pou was told to take off any jewelry and bring only her driver s license. Rider watched while Pou was getting her driver s license from her purse (p. 339 340). Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned Essay Human Reproductive Cloning Should be Banned The issues concerning human reproductive cloning are shrouded in controversy, perhaps overshadowing the true advantages of cloning technology. Therapeutic cloning, which is often misunderstood as reproductive cloning, is less controversial than the latter as it does not involve the creating of an individual being. Instead, vital stem cells are extracted from human embryos, in order to generate tissues and organs for transplant. The goal of this process is strictly to harvest stem cells, resulting in the creation of cloned organs , which can be used to treat heart disease, Alzheimer s, and cancer. However, because reproductive cloning involves the creation of a specific being with ... (Paulson) The success rate by means of reproductive cloning remains pale in comparison to natural procreation, and thus does not justify cloning as a form of procreation for the time being. The current success rate for reproductive cloning stands at one or two viable offspring per 100 experiments, and until the success rate drastically increases, cloning humans would be potentially dangerous and unethical. The dangers that arise from reproductive cloning are numerous, and are enough to validate the banning of human reproductive cloning altogether. During mammalian reproductive cloning, a large proportion of clones suffered from weakened immune systems, which greatly compromised the animal s ability to fight off infection, disease, and other disorders. Animal experiments in cloning all indicate that a cloned twin is at high risk of congenital defects, multiple health problems and perhaps a greatly shortened life span. (Paulson) In addition, many of the offspring produced through cloning suffer massive abnormalities, such as missing or deformed organs. Approximately 30% of offspring are diagnosed with large offspring syndrome and other debilitating conditions. In fact, studies on reproductive cloning have shown that more than 90% of ... Childbirth is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could have and we, as women, should feel proud to be major contributors for it. Thus, a mother has to play a key role in aiding the healthcare workers to mitigate the health crisis associated with childbirth by performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health crisis is Premature (preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of gestational period (CDC, 2015). The rate of preterm birth ranges from 5% to 18% of babies born across 184 countries (WHO, 2015). Premature birth is an important public health priority in terms of health of women and infants. Every year an estimated 15 million preterm babies are born and this number is still rising (WHO, 2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and Asian/Pacific islander infants (CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to complications of premature birth (WHO, 2015). • 14. The Pros And Cons Of White Collar Crime Criminals walk amongst us everyday. When people hear the word criminal, murderer , robber , and arsonist , are what most people think of. No one thinks about the CEO of a billion dollar company, the everyday pharmacist, or even a trusted personal financial advisor. This is due to the respectability and high social status these occupations hold (Temchenko, 2016). Of the many crimes committed every year, white collar crimes are one of the most highest crimes committed because they are overlooked. On July 28, 2016 , 14 year old Bresha Meadows, who had no prior record of violence, was arrested and potentially up for a life sentence in prison for saving her family from more domestic abuse by shooting her father (Jeltsen, 2016) . In 2003 the former chairman and chief executive of MCSi Michael E. Peppel, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy, money laundering and filing false documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission was only sentenced to spend seven days in prison because Peppel was a remarkably good man . The charges against Peppel carry a minimum 8 year sentence (Henning, 2013). Sentencing disparities between white collar crime versus street crime is a crime within itself and some form of justice needs to be served. Valuations can be extremely high if the initial growth rates are high and if there is enough volatility in this growth over time, The author s argument is that high valuation of internet stocks is attributed to the investment opportunities approach. The Republican Party was determined to prevent any spread of slavery, and many Southern leaders had threatened secession if the Republican candidate, Lincoln, won the 1860 election. After Lincoln had won without carrying a single Southern state, many Southern whites felt that disunion had become their only option, because they thought that they were losing representation, which would hamper their ability to promote pro slavery acts and policies. Root causes Slavery. Contemporary actors, the Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as an integral part of it. From the anti slavery perspective, the issue was primarily about whether the system of slavery was an anachronistic evil that was incompatible with Republicanism in the United States. The strategy of the anti slavery forces was containment to stop the expansion and thus put slavery on a path to gradual extinction. Underneath the surface of this quiet town, there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for entertainment and experiences. The land that became Fountain Hills has an interesting past. In the 1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing hands several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. He developed the one man operated chainsaw, built three other communities, purchased the old London Bridge, developed a centrifugal supercharger used in such iconic cars as the 55 Kaiser Manhattan, 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and the 57 Ford Thunderbird, and built several companies still active today. The problem arises in PPFA s prevention of unintended pregnancies, particularly abortion. But abortion is not the only issue the public finds in the organization. The public has recently questioned PPFA s integrity and motives as their controversial actions are exposed. Government funded health care should be easily accessible for all people, but Planned Parenthood is not the organization for this. Instead, the government should push its funds towards organizations whose practices are not controversial and still provide quality health care. Although Planned Parenthood provides other affordable health care services for men, women, and children, many people find their service of abortion controversial and seek to defund them specifically for the discontinuation of this practice. Abortion was legalized under the Roe vs Wade case in 1973 and soon after, PPFA made it one of their available services so they could provide maximum reproductive health care for all women. This system of society caused a great deal of plays during the period to be centered on male figures, with the exception of the plays of Shakespeare. His plays had a common theme of breaking gender stereotypes and surpassing gender barriers; a great example of this being Macbeth . The emphasis on manliness and the changing definition of it in Macbeth shows that Shakespeare s views on manhood were different from those found in the time period. The era in which Shakespeare lived in was a time mostly run by a male dominated hierarchy who viewed women as weak and inferior to them. As a result, many jobs and forms of work were denied to women as many thought they were far too emotional to handle anything more than staying at home. For example, many forms of entertainment in this period (such as plays) were controlled by men and described the lives of heroic figures who were male, a practice caused by the ubiquitous belief of men s superiority over women.
